Life Is The Way Life
Life is something that requires a lot of physical and mental exertion. Some are sufficiently lucky to
have everything arranged for them. For example, some are naturally introduced to cash; some run over
favorable luck yet most buckle down from the begin to get some place on the planet. It simply all
relies on upon how you were brought into this world. For a few individuals, life is brimming with
anxiety and hardships. That is the way life was for somebody dear to me Kimberly Domonique. She
had it troublesome from the beginning however, she picked not to give life a chance to get her down.
At the point when life gave her lemons, she made lemonade.
Kimberly is from the island of Haiti, she moved to the states at the age of ten years old. She lived in
Queens, New York with her step mother, she was enrolled in public school shortly after her arrival.
Going to school in America was difficult for her because she did not know how to speak nor
understand the English language. She told me that what was also hard for her was developing
friendships because there was no one like her that had her background. She moved out of Queens
because of the violence that was occurring between black Americans and foreigners. The problem was
that the foreigners used their methods of learning from their country and used it to their advantage
because education was not free for them like it is here in the states. So this allowed them to get good
grades and advance well, which made the black

Chile s Economic Freedom
Introduction
CHILE
From the point of view of economy freedom, Chile s score is 78.7 (2014 Index of Economic Freedom
Chile, 2014). This makes Chile s economy the 7th free economy in the index of 2014. The total
ranking is a bit lower than previous year. There is a change, to be more precise it s a positive change in
the investing figures of Chile. Chile is considered at a very high position with regards to its economic
freedom in Southern and the Central parts of America. Chile s economy has been constantly
considered as one of the most freely run economies in its 20 year old history of index. It has also been
successful in achieving economic freedom, which is highly impressive at 70. There are 10 economic
freedom concepts, out of which three have been successful in gaining a score of 20 points or above
since 1995. Those three economic freedom concepts are corruption freedom, freedom for investing
and financial ease of freedom. Looking at Chile s high levels of efficient operations, monetary
freedom and business freedom has improved efficiently as well. Chile is considered worldwide leader
in economic freedom. It continues to go by the concept of limited government through public financial
management. Through this concept Chile has been successful in keeping its finance debts and deficits
under control. Chile has actively participated in Trans Pacific partnership negotiations and this further
shows that it has been steadily committed to its trade and business relations.

Should Bilingual Education Be Taught In Schools
Have you ever went to Hooters because you love the food and the environment, and come across a
family who s all children speak English? Exactly, that family is in an environment that they know they
are welcomed. Why? Because their childrens have the opportunity to be taught in school and they are
able to help their parents order Hooters famous Hot Wings.
Bilingual Education involves teaching academic content in two languages, in a native and secondary
language with varying amounts of each language used in accordance with the program model.
Bilingual Education has been around for some time since the settlement of the Polish settlers during
colonization in the 17th century. Although, Bilingual Education has been a great controversy in the
United States on whether it should be taught or not, Bilingual Education in schools is necessary for the
understanding and convenience of students and staffs.

Since the beginning of colonization, individuals have immigrated for a better future allowing their
offsprings an experience of a new culture. Bilingual programs have offered students the knowledge of
another culture and allowing students and individuals to come as a whole and becoming a family. This
programs have allowed students to not forget their cultures but instead it has helped students get rich
in knowledge of their own culture, and the new and unknown one too. Making this society diverse.
Taking dual language programs will help students have great advantages for employment
opportunities. This programs allow students to travel to foreign countries for better work
opportunities. As for traveling to foreign countries, students won t need the help of interpreters to
communicate. According to the College Grad, students taking dual language programs in high school
or throughout their education career, students have a higher opportunity of being their own

Anheuser-Busch External Forces
Demographic forces: This macro environmental force has many untapped opportunities such as
females and the older generation. Anheuser Busch has recently tried to tap into these markets because
the opportunities are very great. They have pulled their advertising away from the younger generation
and started to focus more on women and the older generations. They have recently created margarita
lime drinks and other beverages targeted more for the female market.
Economic forces: Many economic forces pose threats to Anheuser Busch whether its consumer
spending or employment. When the unemployment rate goes up that usually tends to lower beer sales
which hurts the company in a major way. Many consumers do not have the extra many to spend on
beer. Secondly, when consumers have extra money in their pockets they tend to have more money to
spend on objects that enjoy. In this case the beer industry benefits, but if it s the other way around the
company can be hurt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

resources in bulk.
Technological forces: The benefits of technology are amazing and can make a company much more
efficient. For a company like Anheuser Busch, technology can impact so many operations. Many of
the Anheuser Busch factories are run by technology. The robots assemble the bottling process. The
amount of money the company saves is astronomical compared to what it would be if they had to hire
workers to do this. Technology makes everything much more efficient and quicker than what it would

How Children Learn Language
HOW CHILDREN LEARN LANGUAGE

1. OVERVIEW
The exact way in which millions of developing children get to the point where they can produce and
understand millions of words and make sentences out of it is the subject of a heated debate in the
psycholinguistic field. According to Saxton (2010,p.18), the study on how children learn language can
be traced back to the German biologist, Tiedermann, in 1787. However, up until the late 1950 s, it is
generally agreed that approach to child language research is at best haphazardly organized. Research
for example was often limited to a generally informal observations (for example research done by
Lukens,1894) or diary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This time, the rat only received food if it pressed the bar a certain number of times. After initial
confusion, it learned to do this also (Aitchison,2008,pp.8 9). This type of learning is called operant
conditioning by Skinner which can be translated as training by means of voluntary responses (the
word operant means a voluntary response rather than an automatic one) and Skinner suggested that a
vast majority of human learning take place via this mode, including learning of
language(,Aitchison,2008,p.9). In his book Verbal Behaviour, Skinner argued that child efforts to
speak are rewarded by parents. Each time the child produces an utterances that comes close to
sounding like an acceptable word or sentence, the parent offers a reward in the form of praise or
encouragement. As this conditioning goes on, the closer the child gets to the adult model of utterance
the more parental rewards that he/she gets. Thus, the operant conditioning relies on the learner
producing a linguistic behaviour that is progressively shaped through rewards, until the desired
behaviour is achieved (Saxton,2010,p.90). Skinner s explanation of language acquisition soon inspired
a critique and rival explanation from Noam Chomsky. Chomsky argued in some detail that
mechanisms such as stimulus, response and reinforcement which are favoured by the behaviourists are
not sufficient to explain verbal bahaviour. In this regard, Chomsky pivotal

Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy And Spectroscopy
Spectroscopy is a broad field of science that includes Raman Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy,
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Optical Spectroscopy and several other techniques.
Although the techniques are distinct, spectroscopy essentially is how energy and matter interact with
one another. Matter exhibits electromagnetic radiation that consists of wavelike properties. Ultimately,
this electromagnetic radiation can assist in speculating the structure of a molecule. Infrared
Spectroscopy for instance, can aid in identifying the functional groups present, but cannot determine
their precise location. When Infrared light is beamed at a molecule it causes the molecule to vibrate.
Different functional groups have their own unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Integrals indicate how many hydrogen protons there are in the set being measured. An integration of
two for example, signifies that there are two hydrogen protons present. The integration can also aid in
distinguishing whether atoms are in the same environment. Finally, data provided from NMR
designates what is defined as multiplicity or the splitting pattern; the number of protons on atoms
adjacent to the one whose signal is being measured. If a proton (or a set of magnetically equivalent
nuclei) has n neighbors of magnetically equivalent protons. Then the equation n+1 can be applied,
where n stands for neighboring protons.
With the data given from the DEPT 125 and the NMR scans on both H and C, we should be able to
evaluate the structure of the sample. The samples were given with their molecular formula. Since the
sample is also an alcohol, there is at least one hydrogen bonded to an oxygen. For the DEPT 35,
negative peaks indicate the presence and location of a CH2 bond. Identifying a CH2 group in the
DEPT 35 will assist in speculating the structure of the alcohol by narrowing down the possibilities.
The DEPT 35 also re affirms the prediction. Literature values are conducted experimentally and are
obtained in the lab manual on page for both carbon and hydrogen NMR. They ultimately help serve as
a guide, narrowing down the range and reaffirming the prediction. Different types of protons have
distinct chemical shifts

Descriptive Essay On Fantabulous Restaurant
Fantabulous Restaurants,
It was my first time ever at Ichiban, a Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. The hostess sat my family and
me down in front of a grill where someone was cooking. I ordered my food, and poof, a large flame
exploded above the grill and a huge amount of heat flew by me. The loud sizzling of my food on the
grill which constructed a delicious blend of different foods for my family and me to consume. The
next second I saw the chef scoop up my food and flip it unimaginably high in the sky and somehow
catch it on his spatula, and serve it up tight in front of me with unbelievable technique. I loved this
restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant consists of. The restaurants Weber
Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the marginalist factor in what makes a good
restaurant. The mouth watering options of each restaurant make me feel famished every time I think
about them. They have the best steak, burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes
any other meal, from any other restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant
that has worse food? There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly
Buffalo Wild Wings. Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. Buffalo Wild Wings, has the best
bar food which includes Chicken Wings, Burgers, and Nachos. Furthermore one of the most decisive
qualities of a restaurant is the taste of their food.

New legal codes, introduced in 1960, were part of the effort to establish legal norms in administering
laws. Although socialist legality remained in force after 1960, the dictatorial and utopian trends
continued to influence the legal process. Persecution of political and religious dissenters continued,
but at the same time there was a tendency to decriminalize lesser offenses by handing them over to
people s courts and administrative agencies and dealing with them by education rather than by
incarceration.
By late 1986, the Gorbachev era was stressing anew the importance of individual rights in relation to
the state and criticizing those who violated procedural law in implementing Soviet justice. This
signaled a resurgence of socialist legality as the dominant trend. It should be noted, however, that
socialist legality itself still lacked features associated with Western jurisprudence. In particular, the
ultimate control of the legal system lay with the party leadership, which was not democratically
elected by, and therefore not responsible to, the public at large.
[edit] Characteristic traits
Socialist law is similar to common law or civil law but with a greatly increased public law sector and
decreased private law sector.[4] partial or total expulsion of the former ruling classes from the public

The Health Care Provider Ordered An Hiv Test Based On The...
The health care provider ordered an HIV test based on the patient s narrative and his positive TB
status. Tuberculosis infection is frequently an initial indication of HIV infection. Therefore, it is
routine to test patients with TB for HIV. Also, the patient complains of being run down and sick all of
the time, which could be a sign that his immune system is impaired.
The presence of any other opportunistic infections or malignancies may also be indicative of HIV.
Opportunistic infections occur when typically harmless microorganisms are able to cause disease in
individuals who are immunocompromised. Common opportunistic infections in HIV positive patients
include: Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia, candidiasis, toxoplasmosis, diarrhea caused by
Cryptosporidium parvum, progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) caused by the JC virus,
and many others. Kaposi sarcoma, an opportunistic malignancy, is a major indicator of HIV infection.
This cancer occurs only in individuals who are severely immunocompromised and manifests as
lesions on the skin and mucous membranes.
Mr. A s statement reflects the need for further education about HIV transmission. The nurse should
inform Mr. A that HIV is primarily spread through unprotected sexual intercourse and by sharing
contaminated needles for intravenous drug use. Individuals engaging in risky sexual behaviors (e.g.
unprotected anal intercourse) are at highest risk for contracting HIV, regardless of sexual orientation.

Essay Comparing The Awakening and Story of an Hour
Comparing The Awakening and Story of an Hour
The heroine, Mrs. P, has some carries some characteristics parallel to Louise Mallard in Hour. The
women of her time are limited by cultural convention. Yet, Mrs. P, (like Louise) begins to experience a
new freedom of imagination, a zest for life , in the immediate absence of her husband. She realizes,
through interior monologues, that she has been held back, that her station in life cannot and will not
afford her the kind of freedom to explore freely and openly the emotions that are as much a part of her
as they are not a part of Leonce. Here is a primary irony.
Also, the rhetoric Chopin uses is full of contradictions from the beginning. not only that, but there are

The relatively open and honest (less suppressed)culture of the Creoles is one which catalyzes her
human sensibilities. Who could blame her? Especially Madame Ratignolle, and the way Chopin
describes her sensuousness and warmth, would be compelling features it seems for anyone to be
attracted to and to want, almost unconsciously, to emulate. Second, the attentive nature of Robert
LeBrun is so marked and attractive when compared with Leonce s domineering, controlling, even
neglectful ways in which he treats (and does not treat) his family, (but with a measure of trying to
placate them as the result of his own selfishness at Klein s). When he wins, he forgets all about the
candy and peanuts he promised his children. With Edna, he is talkative, but not attentive. Still, though,
Edna is culturally in over her head when it comes to the sensual honesty and astonishingly implicit
trust of these men to let their wives do what they do at this time in history. Thus far, I see an ostensibly
lethal combination of Mme R and Robert working, however innocently in Edna s life.
A more obvious trigger for her sensual nature is Mlle Reisz, who upon playing for her at the
beginning, affords that pictures be conjured up in Edna s mind as she plays. After the reinforcement of
Robert s affections upon her, continuing to impart obsession into her mind, Mlle R s playing hits the
very core of her being, and we see that indeed her body and soul

Death Is Not Bad For Anyone
Death is not Bad for Anyone
Epicurus writes, the argument that death is nothing to us, because when we exist, death is not yet
present, and when death comes, we no longer exist. There are three reasonable previews to support his
view, including: something is bad for someone as long as it must be bad for that person at specific
time; Death cannot be bad for someone when they are dead because the person does not exist at that
time; Death cannot be bad for someone before death actually come. Among these three reasonable
previews, Epicurus draw his conclusion that because there is no time at which death is bad for
someone, so death is not bad for anyone. I m agree with that Death is not bad for anyone , because
death can t affect us since we are died. Although the objection is reasonable, I still think the Epicurus s
response is stronger. The objection is that death can be bad because it is a deprivation of the good
things in life. Our life is full of good things. We have time that we stay with our parents or hang out
with our friends; we have time that we do our hobby and go traveling to see the world; we have time
that we go shopping and eat delicious foods; though there are still sometimes bad things happens, it
emphasis happiness in our life and make our life colorful. However, if we died, we no longer have
time to enjoy it. All the happy moments, money, gorgeous house, people we loves, things we have

The Invention of the Automobile Essay
Since the development of the steam engine people had been interested in creating self powered
vehicles, this manifested during the industrial revolution as the train. However, as time went on people
became interested in creating a vehicle that wasn t confined to tracks. The earliest attempts were
moderately successful but served little practical purpose. Automobiles first began to truly spread with
the invention of the electric motor which created cheaper, more powerful, and safer automobiles. Still
the automobile still had numerous problems and were mainly in the hands of the rich. It was the
development of the internal combustion engine and the assembly line that was truly able to create a

Many other people continued the development and improvement of electric automobiles and for a
time electric automobiles were the preferred type of Automobile because of their quiet ride, quick start
up, and lack of pollution. In fact electric automobiles held the land speed record well into the early
1900 s. However, they began to decline in the early 1900 s because of the increased prevalence and
efficiency of the internal combustion engine.
The invention and use of the internal combustion engine was a pivotal point in the history of the
automobile. The first attempt at an internal combustion engine was in 1673 by Christian Huygens,
using gunpowder as the fuel source, though it was basically worthless as you had to open the engine
up and put new gunpowder in it after every single stroke ( The Fuel Engine ). This lack of a fuel for
internal combustion engines sidelined its development for a couple hundred years. In 1860 Jean
Joseph Etienne Lenoir built the first effective internal combustion engine using natural gas (Bottorff).
The ignition of the gas would create a vacuum and the resulting pressure difference between the
vacuum and the atmosphere would drive the power stroke (Bottorff). This gas atmospheric engine, as
it is known, was an effective system capable generating 20hp, still it was imperfect. It was further
improved with the development

The Cultural Aspects Of Culture
Culture is a group of characteristics such as customs, beliefs and attitudes that groups of people share
within a certain geographic area. Different geographic locations have different norms and cultures that
are followed by the people that live in that specific location. That being said, religion can be
indigenous or non indigenous. Indigenous religions are religions that are native to a place. Some good
examples of indigenous religions are Shintoism, which is native to Japan, Christianity which,
originated in Rome and Islam, which is believed to be originated in Mecca. A couple examples of non
indigenous religion are Voodoo and New Age. Religions originate when people that live close get
together share their belief systems and can distinguish right from wrong. When a religion is created
the cultural rules get included in the religious rules. For example, in Buddhism, nuns have way more
rules that have to be followed than the priests. Buddhism is native to India, and women in India are
ruled and taken care of by the men. Primarily, the men in this country have power over the women and
it is believed that while creating these rules the culture and norms were incorporated into it. Although,
when studying religions it is good to have the origination, it can be harmful as well. Studying religions
can be biased because the people are so drawn to the origin, that they might focus more on the cultural
aspects. For example, some Brahmins that practice Hinduism do not eat meat but

How Did The Norman Invasion Affect The English Language
Toward the close of the Old English period, an event occurred that had the greatest, longer lasting
effect on the English language than any other in history. This event was the Norman Conquest of
1066. The historic victory of William, the Duke of Normandy (hereafter known as William the
Conqueror), at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 proved to be the significant catalyst for the English
people. This is most notably evidenced by the cultural, religious and literary developments in the years
following the Norman Invasion. Before the conquest of England, the language of the country was
what was called Old English or pidgin English. This French/Norman invasion changed Britain s Anglo
Saxon culture and language to one that was more akin to what existed in mainland Europe at the time.
Additionally, the invasion shaped the English language irrevocably; the new French incursion pushed
Old English in the direction of Middle English, a variety more closely resembling what is spoken
today. This change in governance reformed nearly everything else in the country, especially literature.
After the Normans settled in Britain, Latin and French were the only recognized languages in the
Norman court. This resulted in the English language being largely ignored in literature for nearly one
hundred and fifty years. During the next two centuries, after the classical influence of French and
Latin, English literature had been immensely impacted and enriched. When the English language

Argumentative Essay On Animal Testing
Animal testing has been known for the life changing breakthroughs but also for the alarming number
of deaths throughout the years. Many years have gone by since the first experiment on an animal but
when is the world going to realize that animals and humans are not the same.
Animal testing has been used in history for many years. It was traced all the way back to the early
Greece, also the first person realized the differences (more specific internal differences) between
animals and humans was Aristotle. Although animal testing was in the processed it wasn t really
known or popular until the nineteenth century. During 1865, a French physiologist named Claude
Bernard was called the father of experimental science. Bernard published a book called An
Introduction to the study of Experimental Medicine basically stated that the with the experiments on
animals it is a very good thing to keep them in harmful circumstances and deleterious substances
because it was good for man. With that being said some scientist simply did not give a care in the
world for the animals.
Animals are being tested on so that the humans will be safe but there have been situations that did not
work out so well for mankind. Thousands of infants deaths came about all because of animal testing

a successful bid by Hunt Stevenson (Michael Keaton) for the Japanese to take over the factory and

Stratgies for Negotiation in Business Essay
Negotiation plays a vital role in the creation of domestic and international policy. In general terms it is
defined as a joint decision making process in which initially incompatible parties arrive at an
agreement thought the exchange of concessions and problem solving. It normally includes both
dialogue with discussion on merits, and bargaining with the use of competitive tactics such as
promises or threats (Lang, 1996). The use of negotiation is part of a trend of alternative dispute
settlement (Fiorino, 1988). Controversies that are handled with negotiation and rule making seek to
resolve the disputes and attain resolutions that have broad applicability. Regulatory negotiation is a
legislative process used for policy making. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before a negotiation strategy can be created, the mediators or policymakers need to identify the best
time to initiate the process. In any situation, there are a limited number of ideal opportunities to
intervene in a conflict and begin the negotiation process. When these entry points arise, they signify
that the conditions are malleable enough for the process to beign. There are four categories to identify
these opportune moments. The first category opens the door to negotiation when there is a shift in the
external environment [that] may directly impinge on the calculations of the parties and their allies
(Crocker, 2004). As it relates to international negotiation, events in other regions of the world that
directly impact the allies of a conflict will alter the strategies of the parties involved. Second,
escalation in fighting, tension, or the prospect of increase violence may cause a shift in the internal
dynamic of a conflict. This will cause an entry point as leaders and negotiators will want to react and
prevent increased violence and loss of life. The third entry point attests that a change in the structure
of leadership of one or more parties may create openings for vigorous mediation initiatives (Crocker,
2004). In some cases, a change in leadership will bring people into power who are more open to
negotiation discussions than those who previously held office. The fourth and final entry point occurs
when a new mediator arrives on the

we coexist with on Earth. We alone have achieved leaving our lovely home planet and venturing into
space. I authored an accurate science fiction story about a crew of American astronauts who, in a
future year, are sent on a mission to a planet in a neighboring solar system. The crew deals with space
weather disrupting their flight, the physical challenges of moving through a variety of gravity fields,
rocket mechanics, and the challenges and differences of a new planetary environment and atmosphere.
The most emotionally difficult moment for the crew though in their long journey is when a crew
member passes away while in transit between destinations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Galactic cosmic rays are protons with the ability to penetrate other molecules and heavy nuclei (3),
while solar particle events are protons or ions with low to medium energy (3). Galactic cosmic rays
have had all of their electrons stripped, originate outside of the Milky Way from events such as
supernovas (6), and travel at close to the speed of light (7). Galactic cosmic rays, specifically the
nuclei of heavier elements, have the capability to strike almost any object, human or metal spacecraft
included, and break apart the atoms (7). The broken atoms then release subatomic particles, which act
as radiation (7). Solar particle events are caused from solar storms, and are protons or ions with the
ability to penetrate space suits, and occasionally even the physical spacecrafts (12).
Just on the International Space Station, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA,
reported astronauts received around ten times more radiation than the average human in the same
measured time span (1). Although this statistic proves the risk to their personal health that astronauts
have taken for the sake of science, a mission to another planet would require the astronauts leave the
safety of Earth s magnetic field (1), where the International Space Station resides. These astronauts
would have even less of a buffer to protect them

Workplace Conflicts And Conflict Management Styles
Workplace Conflicts and Conflict Management Styles

Introduction
Conflicts in the workplace and interpersonal relationship are inevitable. Organizational conflict is
common in the workplace because people always have divergent views on various issues, interests,
ideologies, goals, and aspirations (Deutsch, 1990). Conflict exists in all kinds of environments because
people compete for power, jobs, resources, security and recognition. People who seek power therefore,
struggle with others for position or status within the group (Henry, 2009).
As Landau, stated, Conflict exists in all human relationships: it always has and probably will (Landau
2001). The traditional view of conflict as something harmful has changed to a common perceptions
where conflict is seen as a way of organizational life. Conflicts beyond usual tensions may arise when
there is misunderstanding, complications or people with different cultural orientations are interacting.
These misunderstandings occurs as result of differing needs, conflict management styles, assumptions
and expectations and stress related issues within the workplace environment. (Leung Tjosvold, 1998;
Ting Toomey, 1988). In many cases, an effective conflict resolution can lead to personal and
organizational growth.
Purpose of Study
The goal of this research paper is to identify the role of conflicts in a workplace environment, how we
can handle conflicts and adopting the best

Essay On A Walker
The next morning, Charlie woke to a warm body pressed against her back and an arm draped across
her waist rubbing her wrist. Bass?
Morning, he answered softly, his warm breath brushing across the bare skin of her shoulder. Your
wrist looks fine this morning. Not a hint of green to be found.
That s good, Charlie whispered in return, trying to control her breathing. How s your head?
It still aches a bit, but It appears as if I ll make a full recovery. Apparently not as fast as you though.
Charlie held her breath for a moment before rolling over, lifting her hand to his face. It must be awful
to be as old as you and Miles if the recovery time is as slow as yours.
Charlie felt the corner of his mouth curve up just before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Who s Flynn? she asked after the doctor left, leaning back in Bass bed crossing her arms underneath
her breasts.
Looking over at Bass only to find him ogling his niece, Miles grabbed her robe and walked to the bed.
How do you know about Flynn?
Whatever happened yesterday has to do with him, doesn t it? Charlie answered matter of factly as she
let him help her out of bed and on with her robe.
Join us for lunch, Bass suggested, taking Charlie s hand in his own, effectively breaking the tension
between Uncle and niece.
That s not happening, Miles mumbled as he turned towards the door.
I don t know, your idea of a good time is to get me run over! She called after them, a grin plastered on
her face as Miles growled.

She met Danny downstairs.
We need to find an empty house. Someplace bigger than this one room, where we can practice.
Are you sure? Danny asked, looking at his sister skeptically.
Charlie nodded. It s time. There s only so many lamps we can smuggle down here before someone
gets suspicious.
Danny sighed. We ve got time for a walk before lunch.

Jeremy was waiting for them in Bass office when they arrived.
So...Flynn. Bass said moving around to sit at his desk while Miles poured himself a drink and Jeremy
took a seat.
The driver of the wagon was found with a broken neck a block away in an abandoned building. One

Police Agencies in modern society are a part of the American fabric to serve and protect the American
public. The United States currently have more than 15,000 police agencies, (Walker Katz, 2011).
Police Departments across the United States face similar critical issues policing. All police officers
face dangers in the job of policing the dangers can emanate from internal and external origins. Police

In addition, police officer exposed to high levels of stress relate to their job have been at an increased
risk for adverse health problems, including depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder,
(Grant Terry, 2012). Less than lethal weapons Use of fire arms as the choice weapon by police officers
have been around since the late 1800s. Police departments started issuing firearms to police officers in
a response to better armed criminal populations, (Bulman, 2010). Recent studies have shown that less
lethal weapons decrease the rate of police officers and suspect injuries. Because evidence supports less
lethal weapons for police officer, many law enforcement agencies have agencies are stressing the use
of less lethal weapons. In the early 19th century, the less than lethal weapon of choice was the wooden
club, (Bulman, 2010). Less than lethal weapons have evolved to technology such as conductive energy
devices (CEDs), commonly known as the Taser. Technology used in policing Police Departments are
continuing to evolve to try to stay ahead if the criminal. Police technology is most influential changes
relative to modern policing. Police agencies are using modern technology such as internet to convey
information to the public, smart phones with the capacity to communicate with others from the field,
and mobile computers to retrieve information, (Grant Terry, 2012). Because police officers have

How Did The Battle Of Gettysburg Changed America
Gettysburg is beyond significance in so many ways that have changed America. The Battle of
Gettysburg was fought in July 1863 where the Confederate army led by General Robert E Lee invaded
the north of the Potomac river and declared war on the Union which was under the command of Major
General George G. Meade. There was as much as 70,100 men who fought with The Confederate Army
of North Virginia and about 93,700 men who fought with the other side which was The Federal Army
of the Potomac/Union. The Battle ended with the victory of the Union but sadly during the war there
fell around 50,000 casualties.
The Battle of Gettysburg was truly one of the bloodiest battles, but was a major turning point in the
Civil War, which made sure of the

Essay on The Sociological Imagination
My personal condensed definition of the sociological imagination is that it is the idea one should be
aware of the societal structures around themselves, and how those structures can influence a person
and vice versa. In addition, I think that having a sociological imagination also involves a deep
appreciation for the importance of society and culture. Consequently, for a person that has completed a
basic introduction to sociology college course and actually paid attention, I would hope that they have
been exposed to some basic taste of the sociological imagination.
Over the past three and a half years as a student of Sociology at State University, I believe my own
sociological imagination has grown exponentially, and I have been ... Show more content on

In regards to what Mills originally thought about this concept, he wrote that the sociological
imagination enables its possessor to understand the larger historical scene in terms of its meaning for
the inner life and the external career of a variety of individuals. It enables him to take into account
how individuals, in the welter of their daily experience, often become falsely conscious of their social
positions (Mills 1959:5). In many ways, Mills own definition of this concept is focused on shifting a
person s viewpoint of the world from a singular and individualistic ideal to a viewpoint that looks
more about the societal and historical view of the world, especially within the context of a person s
current placement in social history.
However, as I mentioned earlier, other sociologists have also formulated the same general concept that
Mills touched upon in his sociological imagination. An example is the work of Peter Berger and his
idea about having a sociological perspective. Specifically, one of Berger s key elements of his
sociological perspective as having involves a process of seeing through the facades of social
structures.... (Berger 1963:29). In addition, Berger believes that being sociologically aware allows a
sense of consciousness that Berger argues is a pre requisite to true freedom ; thus, he always thought
of sociology as a form of

Strengths Finder Case Study
According to the Strengths Finder Survey which identified my top five strengths by analyzing my
answers to the questions asked of me on a website they are as follows: Strategic, Deliberative,
Context, Adaptability and Learner. Being employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee for
fourteen years this has taught me how to use those strengths to my advantage and also to the company
s advantage. For Strategic my first strength it has taught me to try and ask every possible question and
pull all information for the member that I can possibly get so I will understand exactly what they need
taken care of. In turn this helps the company with member satisfaction and peace of mind knowing
that everything that the member feels needs to be done is being done. For my next strength which is
Deliberative this would help take care of anything that may come up such as authorization for a home
health visit being denied due to doctor not giving the home health agency enough information to prove
it is a medical necessity. In this case I would need to contact the doctor and fill in that piece of
information for the nurse to be able to approve the visits in turn the member would be taken care of. ...

Example would be if the home health agency wanted to do physical therapy on member in their home

the member to become mobile and use that knee. But in this particular case the member weighs over
three hundred pounds and has only one person that takes care of them and no way to get to outpatient
physical therapy. This critical piece of information is what the nurse would need to know so they
could approve home health physical therapy due to there was only one person available for

Dennis Ashwell s Life In Vietnam
It was the summer of Vietnam, The Grateful Dead, and free love. Nothing made sense, and the cultural
landscape around the world was smashed into pieces. It was a world in flux, a world awash in a
tsunami of what was and what could be. In June of 1697 dissatisfaction reached a head ushering in a
new era of rambunctious youth that had enough of the status quo. Dennis Ashwell was no different
despite his background. He hailed from a penthouse in New York overlooking Central Park. He went
to good schools and got good grades. He went to cocktail parties hosted by his mother in swanky
hotels, and hobnobbed with his father at political events, fully realizing he served as a shining beacon
of how young adults should act. At 18, he was accepted and went to Harvard. ... Show more content

He had no car, $102, and a backpack of clothes and books. He took buses until he ran out of money
somewhere between Arkansas and Texas. Then he went on route 66 and jutted out his thumb. He met
his fair share of creeps and weirdos, but the majority were friendly and his journey uneventful. His
one mistake was falling asleep in the back of a lumber pickup truck and winding up in Mendocino
Beach, 200 miles away from where he wanted to go. Lumbering back onto the highway he stuck out
his thumb once again and waited. He waited until one night a large VW bus slowed down. The bus
was large, almost like a truck, and was painted a cacophony of bright colors. Out of the bus appeared a
short man with crazy hair and battered clothing his eyes wild and his jaw clenching and unclenching.
As the man got closer Dennis could smell a heavy mix of perspiration, day old milk, and marijuana,
yet he wasn t unnerved, the man seemed alright. They shook hands, the man introduced himself as
Charlie, and Dennis agreed to ride with him and his group to San

Foucault, Consumerism, and Identity
Foucault, Consumerism, and Identity
Michel Foucault presents those revolutionary sorts of analyses that are rich not only for their content
but for their implications and novel methodological approach. Just beyond the surface of his works
lies such philosophical wealth that one can be overwhelmed by considerations of which vein to mine
first, and what to make of the elements therefrom extracted. I ve broken earth in several attractive sites
this last week. Some, it seemed, hid their treasures too deep for the scope of this excavation. Some
presented me with granite barriers which I do not yet have the tools to penetrate. At other sites, the

Since the average person could not take themselves as an object, they had to rely on that Other who
does have himself as object (the sovereign) to tell them who they are, and what their relationship is to
him, since he is capable of knowing both at once, and thus of comparing. The Classical age saw an
increased interest by the ruling classes, and the emerging intellectual class,2[2] in the affairs of the
productive classes. The realisation of the significance of microphysical power is parallelled by the
establishment of the subject as the final authority on belief (Luther), the foundation of knowledge
(Descartes), and the establisher of rights (Locke). These ideas gave power to masses who had hitherto
seen themselves as having none (hardly having seen themselves at all), and fuelled the Age of
Revolutions. The Classical discovery of the individual led, by the Romantic period, to its exaltation.
The belief in individual power and rights created a demand not only for access to the privileges
previously enjoyed only by the elite (such as say in the direction of society), but also for comparable
narrative distinctiveness.
As the romantics idealised the life of peasants, and socialists proclaimed the rights of workers,
common folk began to see their images in culture. Individual enshrinement remained the

Laertes Foil To Hamlet
Laertes acts as a foil for Hamlet and develops Hamlet s character in many ways seen by the audience;
Laertes character develops Hamlet s intelligence. When Laertes comes back to Denmark to get
revenge for his father s death, Claudius easily manipulates him. To thine own peace. If he be now
return d, As checking at his voyage, and that he means no more to undertake it, I will work him to an
exploit, now ripe in my device, under the which he shall not choose but fall. And for his death no wind
of blame shall breathe, but even his mother shall un charge the practice and call it accident. (Act IV

Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you/ cannot play upon me. (Act III
Scene II Lines 340 350) He calls them out and tells them that he knows they are spying on him for
Claudius. The message Shakespeare is trying to portray is that if one is too rational in making
decisions, they can easily be manipulated. Lastly, Laertes develops Hamlet s view of responsibility.
Hamlet and Laertes are put in the exact same situation, but both their fathers are murdered; yet they
deal with it very differently. Laertes is quick to act when he finds out about his fathers death. He
comes back to Denmark with the idea of taking action from his father s death. At first, he believes
Claudius is behind it, and exclaims, That drop of blood that s calm proclaims me bastard, cries
cuckold to my father, brands the harlot, even here, between the chaste un smirched brow of my true
mother. (Act IV Scene V Lines 110 120) Laertes must punish his father s murderer imminently, which
contrasts to Hamlet s, who is indecisive about getting revenge for his father s death. The message
Shakespeare is trying to communicate is that people have different ways of reacting to the same

  • 2. Life Is The Way Life Life is something that requires a lot of physical and mental exertion. Some are sufficiently lucky to have everything arranged for them. For example, some are naturally introduced to cash; some run over favorable luck yet most buckle down from the begin to get some place on the planet. It simply all relies on upon how you were brought into this world. For a few individuals, life is brimming with anxiety and hardships. That is the way life was for somebody dear to me Kimberly Domonique. She had it troublesome from the beginning however, she picked not to give life a chance to get her down. At the point when life gave her lemons, she made lemonade. Kimberly is from the island of Haiti, she moved to the states at the age of ten years old. She lived in Queens, New York with her step mother, she was enrolled in public school shortly after her arrival. Going to school in America was difficult for her because she did not know how to speak nor understand the English language. She told me that what was also hard for her was developing friendships because there was no one like her that had her background. She moved out of Queens because of the violence that was occurring between black Americans and foreigners. The problem was that the foreigners used their methods of learning from their country and used it to their advantage because education was not free for them like it is here in the states. So this allowed them to get good grades and advance well, which made the black ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This makes Chile s economy the 7th free economy in the index of 2014. The total ranking is a bit lower than previous year. There is a change, to be more precise it s a positive change in the investing figures of Chile. Chile is considered at a very high position with regards to its economic freedom in Southern and the Central parts of America. Chile s economy has been constantly considered as one of the most freely run economies in its 20 year old history of index. It has also been successful in achieving economic freedom, which is highly impressive at 70. There are 10 economic freedom concepts, out of which three have been successful in gaining a score of 20 points or above since 1995. Those three economic freedom concepts are corruption freedom, freedom for investing and financial ease of freedom. Looking at Chile s high levels of efficient operations, monetary freedom and business freedom has improved efficiently as well. Chile is considered worldwide leader in economic freedom. It continues to go by the concept of limited government through public financial management. Through this concept Chile has been successful in keeping its finance debts and deficits under control. Chile has actively participated in Trans Pacific partnership negotiations and this further shows that it has been steadily committed to its trade and business relations. ... Exactly, that family is in an environment that they know they are welcomed. Why? Because their childrens have the opportunity to be taught in school and they are able to help their parents order Hooters famous Hot Wings. Bilingual Education involves teaching academic content in two languages, in a native and secondary language with varying amounts of each language used in accordance with the program model. Bilingual Education has been around for some time since the settlement of the Polish settlers during colonization in the 17th century. Anheuser Busch has recently tried to tap into these markets because the opportunities are very great. They have pulled their advertising away from the younger generation and started to focus more on women and the older generations. They have recently created margarita lime drinks and other beverages targeted more for the female market. Economic forces: Many economic forces pose threats to Anheuser Busch whether its consumer spending or employment. When the unemployment rate goes up that usually tends to lower beer sales which hurts the company in a major way. Many consumers do not have the extra many to spend on beer. Secondly, when consumers have extra money in their pockets they tend to have more money to spend on objects that enjoy. OVERVIEW The exact way in which millions of developing children get to the point where they can produce and understand millions of words and make sentences out of it is the subject of a heated debate in the psycholinguistic field. According to Saxton (2010,p.18), the study on how children learn language can be traced back to the German biologist, Tiedermann, in 1787. However, up until the late 1950 s, it is generally agreed that approach to child language research is at best haphazardly organized. Research for example was often limited to a generally informal observations (for example research done by Lukens,1894) or diary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This time, the rat only received food if it pressed the bar a certain number of times. After initial confusion, it learned to do this also (Aitchison,2008,pp.8 9). This type of learning is called operant conditioning by Skinner which can be translated as training by means of voluntary responses (the word operant means a voluntary response rather than an automatic one) and Skinner suggested that a vast majority of human learning take place via this mode, including learning of language(,Aitchison,2008,p.9). In his book Verbal Behaviour, Skinner argued that child efforts to speak are rewarded by parents. Each time the child produces an utterances that comes close to sounding like an acceptable word or sentence, the parent offers a reward in the form of praise or encouragement. As this conditioning goes on, the closer the child gets to the adult model of utterance the more parental rewards that he/she gets. Thus, the operant conditioning relies on the learner producing a linguistic behaviour that is progressively shaped through rewards, until the desired behaviour is achieved (Saxton,2010,p.90). Skinner s explanation of language acquisition soon inspired a critique and rival explanation from Noam Chomsky. Chomsky argued in some detail that mechanisms such as stimulus, response and reinforcement which are favoured by the behaviourists are not sufficient to explain verbal bahaviour. In this regard, Chomsky pivotal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy And Spectroscopy Spectroscopy is a broad field of science that includes Raman Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Optical Spectroscopy and several other techniques. Although the techniques are distinct, spectroscopy essentially is how energy and matter interact with one another. Matter exhibits electromagnetic radiation that consists of wavelike properties. Ultimately, this electromagnetic radiation can assist in speculating the structure of a molecule. Infrared Spectroscopy for instance, can aid in identifying the functional groups present, but cannot determine their precise location. When Infrared light is beamed at a molecule it causes the molecule to vibrate. Different functional groups have their own unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Integrals indicate how many hydrogen protons there are in the set being measured. An integration of two for example, signifies that there are two hydrogen protons present. The integration can also aid in distinguishing whether atoms are in the same environment. Finally, data provided from NMR designates what is defined as multiplicity or the splitting pattern; the number of protons on atoms adjacent to the one whose signal is being measured. If a proton (or a set of magnetically equivalent nuclei) has n neighbors of magnetically equivalent protons. Then the equation n+1 can be applied, where n stands for neighboring protons. With the data given from the DEPT 125 and the NMR scans on both H and C, we should be able to evaluate the structure of the sample. The samples were given with their molecular formula. Since the sample is also an alcohol, there is at least one hydrogen bonded to an oxygen. For the DEPT 35, negative peaks indicate the presence and location of a CH2 bond. Identifying a CH2 group in the DEPT 35 will assist in speculating the structure of the alcohol by narrowing down the possibilities. The DEPT 35 also re affirms the prediction. Literature values are conducted experimentally and are obtained in the lab manual on page for both carbon and hydrogen NMR. They ultimately help serve as a guide, narrowing down the range and reaffirming the prediction. Different types of protons have distinct chemical shifts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Descriptive Essay On Fantabulous Restaurant Fantabulous Restaurants, It was my first time ever at Ichiban, a Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. The hostess sat my family and me down in front of a grill where someone was cooking. I ordered my food, and poof, a large flame exploded above the grill and a huge amount of heat flew by me. The loud sizzling of my food on the grill which constructed a delicious blend of different foods for my family and me to consume. The next second I saw the chef scoop up my food and flip it unimaginably high in the sky and somehow catch it on his spatula, and serve it up tight in front of me with unbelievable technique. I loved this restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant consists of. The restaurants Weber Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the marginalist factor in what makes a good restaurant. The mouth watering options of each restaurant make me feel famished every time I think about them. They have the best steak, burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes any other meal, from any other restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant that has worse food? There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly Buffalo Wild Wings. Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. Buffalo Wild Wings, has the best bar food which includes Chicken Wings, Burgers, and Nachos. Furthermore one of the most decisive qualities of a restaurant is the taste of their food. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... New legal codes, introduced in 1960, were part of the effort to establish legal norms in administering laws. Although socialist legality remained in force after 1960, the dictatorial and utopian trends continued to influence the legal process. Persecution of political and religious dissenters continued, but at the same time there was a tendency to decriminalize lesser offenses by handing them over to people s courts and administrative agencies and dealing with them by education rather than by incarceration. By late 1986, the Gorbachev era was stressing anew the importance of individual rights in relation to the state and criticizing those who violated procedural law in implementing Soviet justice. This signaled a resurgence of socialist legality as the dominant trend. It should be noted, however, that socialist legality itself still lacked features associated with Western jurisprudence. In particular, the ultimate control of the legal system lay with the party leadership, which was not democratically elected by, and therefore not responsible to, the public at large. • 11. The Health Care Provider Ordered An Hiv Test Based On The... The health care provider ordered an HIV test based on the patient s narrative and his positive TB status. Tuberculosis infection is frequently an initial indication of HIV infection. Therefore, it is routine to test patients with TB for HIV. Also, the patient complains of being run down and sick all of the time, which could be a sign that his immune system is impaired. The presence of any other opportunistic infections or malignancies may also be indicative of HIV. Opportunistic infections occur when typically harmless microorganisms are able to cause disease in individuals who are immunocompromised. Common opportunistic infections in HIV positive patients include: Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia, candidiasis, toxoplasmosis, diarrhea caused by Cryptosporidium parvum, progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) caused by the JC virus, and many others. Kaposi sarcoma, an opportunistic malignancy, is a major indicator of HIV infection. This cancer occurs only in individuals who are severely immunocompromised and manifests as lesions on the skin and mucous membranes. Mr. A s statement reflects the need for further education about HIV transmission. The nurse should inform Mr. A that HIV is primarily spread through unprotected sexual intercourse and by sharing contaminated needles for intravenous drug use. The women of her time are limited by cultural convention. Yet, Mrs. P, (like Louise) begins to experience a new freedom of imagination, a zest for life , in the immediate absence of her husband. She realizes, through interior monologues, that she has been held back, that her station in life cannot and will not afford her the kind of freedom to explore freely and openly the emotions that are as much a part of her as they are not a part of Leonce. The relatively open and honest (less suppressed)culture of the Creoles is one which catalyzes her human sensibilities. Who could blame her? Especially Madame Ratignolle, and the way Chopin describes her sensuousness and warmth, would be compelling features it seems for anyone to be attracted to and to want, almost unconsciously, to emulate. Second, the attentive nature of Robert LeBrun is so marked and attractive when compared with Leonce s domineering, controlling, even neglectful ways in which he treats (and does not treat) his family, (but with a measure of trying to placate them as the result of his own selfishness at Klein s). When he wins, he forgets all about the candy and peanuts he promised his children. With Edna, he is talkative, but not attentive. Still, though, Edna is culturally in over her head when it comes to the sensual honesty and astonishingly implicit trust of these men to let their wives do what they do at this time in history. Thus far, I see an ostensibly lethal combination of Mme R and Robert working, however innocently in Edna s life. A more obvious trigger for her sensual nature is Mlle Reisz, who upon playing for her at the beginning, affords that pictures be conjured up in Edna s mind as she plays. After the reinforcement of Robert s affections upon her, continuing to impart obsession into her mind, Mlle R s playing hits the very core of her being, and we see that indeed her body and soul ... • 14. Death Is Not Bad For Anyone Death is not Bad for Anyone Epicurus writes, the argument that death is nothing to us, because when we exist, death is not yet present, and when death comes, we no longer exist. There are three reasonable previews to support his view, including: something is bad for someone as long as it must be bad for that person at specific time; Death cannot be bad for someone when they are dead because the person does not exist at that time; Death cannot be bad for someone before death actually come. Among these three reasonable previews, Epicurus draw his conclusion that because there is no time at which death is bad for someone, so death is not bad for anyone. I m agree with that Death is not bad for anyone , because death can t affect us since we are died. Although the objection is reasonable, I still think the Epicurus s response is stronger. The objection is that death can be bad because it is a deprivation of the good things in life. Our life is full of good things. We have time that we stay with our parents or hang out with our friends; we have time that we do our hobby and go traveling to see the world; we have time that we go shopping and eat delicious foods; though there are still sometimes bad things happens, it emphasis happiness in our life and make our life colorful. However, as time went on people became interested in creating a vehicle that wasn t confined to tracks. The earliest attempts were moderately successful but served little practical purpose. Automobiles first began to truly spread with the invention of the electric motor which created cheaper, more powerful, and safer automobiles. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many other people continued the development and improvement of electric automobiles and for a time electric automobiles were the preferred type of Automobile because of their quiet ride, quick start up, and lack of pollution. In fact electric automobiles held the land speed record well into the early 1900 s. However, they began to decline in the early 1900 s because of the increased prevalence and efficiency of the internal combustion engine. The invention and use of the internal combustion engine was a pivotal point in the history of the automobile. The first attempt at an internal combustion engine was in 1673 by Christian Huygens, using gunpowder as the fuel source, though it was basically worthless as you had to open the engine up and put new gunpowder in it after every single stroke ( The Fuel Engine ). This lack of a fuel for internal combustion engines sidelined its development for a couple hundred years. In 1860 Jean Joseph Etienne Lenoir built the first effective internal combustion engine using natural gas (Bottorff). The ignition of the gas would create a vacuum and the resulting pressure difference between the vacuum and the atmosphere would drive the power stroke (Bottorff). This gas atmospheric engine, as it is known, was an effective system capable generating 20hp, still it was imperfect. It was further improved with the development ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Cultural Aspects Of Culture Culture is a group of characteristics such as customs, beliefs and attitudes that groups of people share within a certain geographic area. Different geographic locations have different norms and cultures that are followed by the people that live in that specific location. That being said, religion can be indigenous or non indigenous. Indigenous religions are religions that are native to a place. Some good examples of indigenous religions are Shintoism, which is native to Japan, Christianity which, originated in Rome and Islam, which is believed to be originated in Mecca. A couple examples of non indigenous religion are Voodoo and New Age. Religions originate when people that live close get together share their belief systems and can distinguish right from wrong. When a religion is created the cultural rules get included in the religious rules. For example, in Buddhism, nuns have way more rules that have to be followed than the priests. Buddhism is native to India, and women in India are ruled and taken care of by the men. Primarily, the men in this country have power over the women and it is believed that while creating these rules the culture and norms were incorporated into it. Although, when studying religions it is good to have the origination, it can be harmful as well. Studying religions can be biased because the people are so drawn to the origin, that they might focus more on the cultural aspects. For example, some Brahmins that practice Hinduism do not eat meat but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. How Did The Norman Invasion Affect The English Language Toward the close of the Old English period, an event occurred that had the greatest, longer lasting effect on the English language than any other in history. This event was the Norman Conquest of 1066. The historic victory of William, the Duke of Normandy (hereafter known as William the Conqueror), at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 proved to be the significant catalyst for the English people. This is most notably evidenced by the cultural, religious and literary developments in the years following the Norman Invasion. Before the conquest of England, the language of the country was what was called Old English or pidgin English. This French/Norman invasion changed Britain s Anglo Saxon culture and language to one that was more akin to what existed in mainland Europe at the time. Additionally, the invasion shaped the English language irrevocably; the new French incursion pushed Old English in the direction of Middle English, a variety more closely resembling what is spoken today. This change in governance reformed nearly everything else in the country, especially literature. After the Normans settled in Britain, Latin and French were the only recognized languages in the Norman court. This resulted in the English language being largely ignored in literature for nearly one hundred and fifty years. During the next two centuries, after the classical influence of French and Latin, English literature had been immensely impacted and enriched. When the English language ... Many years have gone by since the first experiment on an animal but when is the world going to realize that animals and humans are not the same. Animal testing has been used in history for many years. It was traced all the way back to the early Greece, also the first person realized the differences (more specific internal differences) between animals and humans was Aristotle. Although animal testing was in the processed it wasn t really known or popular until the nineteenth century. During 1865, a French physiologist named Claude Bernard was called the father of experimental science. Bernard published a book called An Introduction to the study of Experimental Medicine basically stated that the with the experiments on animals it is a very good thing to keep them in harmful circumstances and deleterious substances because it was good for man. With that being said some scientist simply did not give a care in the world for the animals. Animals are being tested on so that the humans will be safe but there have been situations that did not work out so well for mankind. The 1986 movie Gung ho was able to provide what can be described as a classic example of culture conflict and complications occurring as a result of two cultures clashing against each other, as the Japanese businessman Mr. Sakamto came into the small American town and obtained the factory after a successful bid by Hunt Stevenson (Michael Keaton) for the Japanese to take over the factory and save the small town from economic troubles. Hunt was hired to laisse between the workers and the foreign management, and through him the audience experience how the synergy between the two groups decline as they learn from each other regarding expectations, attitudes and cultural differences which hinder productivity, first I will provide a better understanding for what is culture, and how it play an imperative role in the success of an organization. • 21. Stratgies for Negotiation in Business Essay Negotiation plays a vital role in the creation of domestic and international policy. In general terms it is defined as a joint decision making process in which initially incompatible parties arrive at an agreement thought the exchange of concessions and problem solving. It normally includes both dialogue with discussion on merits, and bargaining with the use of competitive tactics such as promises or threats (Lang, 1996). The use of negotiation is part of a trend of alternative dispute settlement (Fiorino, 1988). Controversies that are handled with negotiation and rule making seek to resolve the disputes and attain resolutions that have broad applicability. Regulatory negotiation is a legislative process used for policy making. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before a negotiation strategy can be created, the mediators or policymakers need to identify the best time to initiate the process. In any situation, there are a limited number of ideal opportunities to intervene in a conflict and begin the negotiation process. When these entry points arise, they signify that the conditions are malleable enough for the process to beign. There are four categories to identify these opportune moments. The first category opens the door to negotiation when there is a shift in the external environment [that] may directly impinge on the calculations of the parties and their allies (Crocker, 2004). As it relates to international negotiation, events in other regions of the world that directly impact the allies of a conflict will alter the strategies of the parties involved. Second, escalation in fighting, tension, or the prospect of increase violence may cause a shift in the internal dynamic of a conflict. This will cause an entry point as leaders and negotiators will want to react and prevent increased violence and loss of life. The third entry point attests that a change in the structure of leadership of one or more parties may create openings for vigorous mediation initiatives (Crocker, 2004). In some cases, a change in leadership will bring people into power who are more open to negotiation discussions than those who previously held office. The fourth and final entry point occurs when a new mediator arrives on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Galactic cosmic rays, specifically the nuclei of heavier elements, have the capability to strike almost any object, human or metal spacecraft included, and break apart the atoms (7). The broken atoms then release subatomic particles, which act as radiation (7). Solar particle events are caused from solar storms, and are protons or ions with the ability to penetrate space suits, and occasionally even the physical spacecrafts (12). Workplace Conflicts And Conflict Management Styles Workplace Conflicts and Conflict Management Styles Greg Jefia MBA 5213 Dr. Edwards December 12, 2014 Introduction Conflicts in the workplace and interpersonal relationship are inevitable. Organizational conflict is common in the workplace because people always have divergent views on various issues, interests, ideologies, goals, and aspirations (Deutsch, 1990). Conflict exists in all kinds of environments because people compete for power, jobs, resources, security and recognition. People who seek power therefore, struggle with others for position or status within the group (Henry, 2009). As Landau, stated, Conflict exists in all human relationships: it always has and probably will (Landau 2001). The traditional view of conflict as something harmful has changed to a common perceptions where conflict is seen as a way of organizational life. Conflicts beyond usual tensions may arise when there is misunderstanding, complications or people with different cultural orientations are interacting. These misunderstandings occurs as result of differing needs, conflict management styles, assumptions and expectations and stress related issues within the workplace environment. (Leung Tjosvold, 1998; Ting Toomey, 1988). In many cases, an effective conflict resolution can lead to personal and organizational growth. Consequently, for a person that has completed a basic introduction to sociology college course and actually paid attention, I would hope that they have been exposed to some basic taste of the sociological imagination. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In regards to what Mills originally thought about this concept, he wrote that the sociological imagination enables its possessor to understand the larger historical scene in terms of its meaning for the inner life and the external career of a variety of individuals. It enables him to take into account how individuals, in the welter of their daily experience, often become falsely conscious of their social positions (Mills 1959:5). In many ways, Mills own definition of this concept is focused on shifting a person s viewpoint of the world from a singular and individualistic ideal to a viewpoint that looks more about the societal and historical view of the world, especially within the context of a person s current placement in social history. However, as I mentioned earlier, other sociologists have also formulated the same general concept that Mills touched upon in his sociological imagination. An example is the work of Peter Berger and his idea about having a sociological perspective. Specifically, one of Berger s key elements of his sociological perspective as having involves a process of seeing through the facades of social structures.... (Berger 1963:29). The Classical age saw an increased interest by the ruling classes, and the emerging intellectual class,2[2] in the affairs of the productive classes. The realisation of the significance of microphysical power is parallelled by the establishment of the subject as the final authority on belief (Luther), the foundation of knowledge (Descartes), and the establisher of rights (Locke). These ideas gave power to masses who had hitherto seen themselves as having none (hardly having seen themselves at all), and fuelled the Age of Revolutions. The belief in individual power and rights created a demand not only for access to the privileges previously enjoyed only by the elite (such as say in the direction of society), but also for comparable narrative distinctiveness.
