minute! Ray skid to a stop, nearly crushing some flowers. The Grand Sorceress? She s coming today!
Oh I must make my golden fur coat look as dashing as possible! Danielle, help me! I don t have arms

all dirty running around. Now, I have to use my magic, as the Grand Sorceress former apprentice, to
clean up a tiger s fur. With a swoosh of her hand, Danielle cleaned up Ray, still annoyed about having
to do so. A bright flurry of light appeared by the stream in the garden. Danielle and Ray immediately
stood nicely, ignoring what had happened only a minute ago. Hello Danielle, Hello Ray Ray bowed,

Analysis Of On Noise Essay
On Noise, is a stoic piece composed by Seneca who was raised in Rome during the first century AD.
On Noise explores an aspect of humanity that is surprisingly appropriate for our current times, how it
is part of human nature to become distracted. Seneca explores the fascinating idea of how it is human
nature to be distracted and that we must busy ourselves with tasks or succumb to the danger of being
overcome by the distractions or the noise that surrounds us, he does through the extended metaphor of
the obvious distractions of sound and by using the scenario of busy street in everyday life, for the sake
of this essay we will take the definition of human nature to be The general psychological
characteristics, feelings and behavioural traits of human kind, regarded as shared by all humans . We
as a reader must take into account that this is a translation of a Latin text and that in Latin the order
that the words are written is extremely important, even so that writers such as Ovid or Pliny could
spend days on single sentences trying to perfectly compose it, Latin prose is an art form in itself, but
we can grasp the simple techniques that are just as applicable in English as they are in Latin, and
henceforth from them the examination of human psyche that Seneca has gone through in this text. We
are led through a journey that was typical to texts of this stoic form and intent, he first involves us into
the text using the reader as an example as he submerges us into the

Research Paper On Alfred Adler
Compared to psychoanalysts of Victorian Era, Alfred Adler looked at psychology from a more holistic,
humanistic and positive perspective. He was convinced that the main focus should be shifted from
biological needs, drives and instincts to individual differences, experience, interaction and social
environment. Adler placed great emphasis on sibling and peer group relationships, social interest and
achieving perfection. He also introduced the terms inferiority and superiority complex, so commonly
used nowadays, to the world.
Inferiority, Superiority and Perfection According to Adler, the feeling of inferiority is an inseparable
part of human existence. And in order to overcome that feeling one must compensate. In other words,

Hence, his theory developed overtime and changed in resonance to how Adler solved his internal and
internal conflicts. In his early years, Adler focused more on how hunger for power and superiority
motivated growth and striving for perfection. Later in his life, he shifter his focus toward social
interest. Because of these changes some consider Adler s theory inconsistent or even scientifically
unreliable. Adler was considerably deterministic the process of personality formation and especially
about the time period when that happened. He claimed that once a personality is formed, it does not
change significantly. In Adler s opinion the formation of personality took place at the age of 4 or 5.
From the perspective of modern psychology, the extent to which Adler s theory about the order of
birth is scientific is highly debatable. Many of his concepts are not measurable or manipulable, and his
variable are neither physical nor behavioral. Adler did not consider measurement or an experimental
approach in general as the most efficient approach to

The Difference Between The Women Situation Of Ireland From...
Introduction
The aim of this report is to compare the difference between the women situation in Ireland from the
independence till the present day, how it changed during those years.
One of the biggest impacts to Irish society in the past 50 years has been the changing the role of
women, with more females participating in the workforce and more in professional positions and this
has caused relationship and family dynamics to shift.
Until the last few years of the twentieth century Ireland was the most sexually repressed country in
Europe, where women were classed as the second type citizens and the Catholic Church ruled
virtually unchallenged. Church and state maintained that women should hold a certain morality,
particularly relating to areas of sexuality and reproduction. As a result, until relatively recently, Irish
women s issues remained largely ignored and therefore unremarked upon.
(Irish Constitution 1922)
One of the questions facing the Cosgrave government in 1922 with the establishment of the Irish Free
State was the role of women in the new State. The 1916 Proclamation of the Republic had claimed the
allegiance of every Irishman and Irishwoman and guaranteed equal rights and equal opportunities to
all its citizens . All had their hopes dashed. Both governments led by Cosgrave in the 1920s and
Fianna Fail governments led by de Valera in the 1930s enacted legislation depriving women of a
number of rights.
In 1924, the government proposed to exempt all

Complaint Of Compensation Of The Family And Medical Leave...
Complaint: Employee A has returned from 11 weeks of approved FMLA leave. Prior to his return,
employee A spoke to the new manager of his department and submitted a request to return to work
from his FMLA leave and for payment of unpaid wages accrued during his leave. The employee s
manager has returned him to his previous work status and rate of pay, but has denied his request for
monies earned during his leave. Employee A feels he is owed wages for the time he was off from
work.
Review of FMLA: A major provision of the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, is the right for
eligible employees to take 12 work weeks of job protected, unpaid leave. In order to be considered an
eligible employee, employees must be employed by a covered employer for a minimum of 12 months
prior to submitting an application for medical leave under FMLA. The employee must also have
worked a minimum of 1,250 hours during that same 12 month period as noted in the Wage and Hours
Division Employer s Guide to the Family and Medical Care Act.
Additionally, the US Department of Labor notes that an employer is considered covered when they
have 50 or more employees whom work at sites within 75 miles of each other for 20 or more weeks
per year. According to The Wage and Hour s Division of the U.S. Department of Labor, we, Company

The Principle Of Equity Law
INTRODUCTION
Contract is a part of our everyday life. We might not be aware of it but simply buying your lunch
involves an agreement between you, as the buyer, and the seller. The contract is an agreement between
two or more parties under which legal rights and obligations are created which will be enforced in
courts. In addition, law of contract is all about the concepts relevant to the development,
implementation and violation of the agreement.
On the other hand, equity law is a set of rules exercised if there is no appeasement based on the
common law of contract. Here, the court is given the right and freedom to use their own discretion in
giving just and appropriate decisions.
So, the principle of equity is applied when the common law of contract is not sufficient to give
objective and fair judgement. But when would one say it s not adequate? How can it be perceived as
unfair? What is the basis of this fair mindedness? Is this really justice?
ANALYSIS Technically, if we look at the law of contract, there are a lot of loopholes that can be
detected to escape from obligations. A mere breach of the essential requirements or conditions of an
agreement can make the promisor be free from punishment provided he pays for the damages the
other party had suffered. Easy right? Especially if you have the extra money to spare and just laugh
about it afterward. This is where the equity law butt in and the court can apply various equitable
remedies to the disadvantageous ones.

The Aftermath Of World War II Essay
The aftermath of World War II in East Asia resulted in much more than the rebuilding of individual
governments or countries. The Second World War is still a major factor in diplomatic rifts between
East Asian Countries. The treaties signed to end the war could not erase decades of history central to
the current relationships between East Asian countries. Unfortunately, that is exactly what some argue
Japan is doing through government approved revisions of history textbooks. The textbook revision
controversy in East Asia is multi faceted and cannot be solely attributed to the aftermath of the World
War II, but it does illustrate the effect of the World War II on international relationships in East Asia
even still today. It s hard to imagine how a textbook could cause so much dispute. While the
international contention is based on the content of the government suggested revisions, it is important
to understand the textbook revision history and process first. The basis of the current textbook
approval system in Japan dates back to pre World War II. Post war, the Japanese government used this
already in place system to blot out passages that might offend the American occupiers (Masalski).
During this time of American occupation post war, the Supreme Court for the Allied Powers enforced
a system of yearly government review of textbooks in order to ensure that textbooks did not encourage
emperor worship or militarism (Masalski). The textbooks used in Japanese schools are

The life of aviation is an admiration for whoever looks up to the clouds, stars, and the sky. Aviation is
a dream that many people seek. I have always looked up to my father as a model and a reason to think
about the life above the clouds. As I laid eyes on him wearing his flying suit, it opened my eyes to the
aviation life, and an inspiration to enter the world of aviation. The transition of me entering this life
was a video that ERAU broadcasted. This ad shows the quality of tools and level of education students

America s Beer And Alcoholic Beverages
Americans love their beer and alcoholic beverages. Alcohol tax was even a catalyst in creating this
country by encouraging early Americans to fight for independence. Beer has been a common thread in
our society for the past 200 years that brings people together to socialize. As our country modernized
in the late 1800 s, breweries were constructed in every part of the United States. And of those
breweries, three survived prohibition and raced to take their claim on the country s market share. Our
country was carved up by three large beer companies; Miller was popular in the North, Budweiser was
popular in the South, and Coors was the choice in the Midwest and West. Adolph Coors was an
American success story and the company he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1940 s, the brewery introduced their line of premium beer calling it Banquet Coors , or as we
know that brand today as Coors. Coors became the beer for many famous actors and politicians, which
gave that brand prestige. The company took advantage of that prestige and centered their marketing
campaign on average Joes drinking the preferred beer of presidents and actors. I will argue later in this
analysis on how the brewery s loyalty to this premium brand of beer decreased market share in the
1980 s.
In the 1960 s, Coors profited by being one of the first beer companies to market their aluminum cans.
This was very important for Coors because of their production process. They were the only large beer
company that didn t pasteurize their beer. This required them to get innovative with their delivery
process. The beer industry was very saturated with competitors and Coors found their cash cow with
their Banquet brand. However, in order to provide that unique taste their product was required to age
longer and because they skipped the pasteurization process their product had to be shipped cold.
I argue that if not for the innovative process of aluminum cans, Coors would not have enjoyed the
success they did in 1960 s and early 1970 s. This was the peak of their innovative culture in the
company. Their opportunities then were how to decrease carrying and delivery costs due to their
unique brewing process and market a

Technological Evolution in the Film Industry Essay
As times are changing, knowledge and information are also changing. With that, the development of
motion picture complexity has changed the film industry by a continuing technological evolution. It is
evident that films have changed significantly over the last 100 years. The intricacy of filmmaking
technology has rapidly progressed, allowing creative potential for filmmakers. Films are often due to
technological advances, or even to reintroduce a classic story. Some examples of films that have been
remade include Scarface (1932), remade in 1983, and The Magnificent Seven (1960), remade in 1998.
King Kong (1933) is another example of a film that has been remade. The remake, King Kong (2005),

The stop motion animation sequences were filmed separately from the live action scenes with the
actors. These two parts were then combined to create the illusion that the ape was towering over the
actors. In the 2005 remake of the film, director Peter Jackson relied on Computer Generated Imagery
(CGI) to animate Kong. This use of CGI gave the director greater artistic control of the narrative.
Many of the sets were computer generated, as well as Kong himself. To combine both the actors and
the computer generated images together, chroma keying was used. In the scene where Ann Darrow is
placed in the hand of Kong, the actress was filmed against a green screen, and held by a large green
hand. When this scene was merged with the digital Kong, a composite image shows Kong holding her.
Since chroma keying technology did not exist in the 1930 s, a full sized, fur covered hand had to be
constructed to create the effect of Kong holding the actor. The difference between the visual effects in
both versions is significant, making is apparent that the remake has displayed great technological
advancement. These advancements also make the film more believable, and emphasise the story.
Another aspect of the film that had a significant impact was colour. In the original version of King
Kong, the film was shot in black and white. Sometimes there can be implications with interpreting the
emotions in the film. Colour in film is a huge

My Philosophy of Teaching Essay
My Philosophy of Teaching
Education is an important aspect in the lives of all individuals. From the day we are born until the day
we die, we are constantly learning. At a very young age, children begin attending school. Throughout
their educational career, children have many different teachers who hold many different views, beliefs,
and values. Methods of instruction, personalities, and classroom interaction are all unique to the
teacher. Some teachers may come in each day just because it s their job, and they need the paycheck.
Yet, the ones who are there for the success of their students are the ones who truly make a difference.

Teachers should pass this enthusiasm onto their students and gain their interest in the subject. Children
need teachers who care about them, teachers who love them. When a student knows you care, they are
more likely to succeed.
Teachers should have confidence in their students. They should set high expectations for all students,
and then give them the support and encouragement they need to obtain those expectations. Teachers
should praise students. They need to create a comfortable learning environment where students can
make mistakes. Mistakes are a part of learning. As a child my mother always told me, Practice makes
perfect and If at first you don t succeed, try, try again. At times, students may become frustrated.
Teachers need to encourage their students and give them positive reinforcement. They should help
their students to never give up.
At times, even the best teachers may not be coming through to their students. What may seem like the
perfect lesson plan for one class may not be such a success in another. Yet good teachers have the
ability to recognize this. They monitor and adjust. Teachers need to observe their students to see if the
lesson is coming through to them. If it is not, the teacher should not give up and move on to new
material. They need to adjust, and reteach the lesson in a way that will come though to the

of learning cursive should not be overlooked.
Technology is developing at such a rapid pace, that keyboards may soon be replaced for something

times, it is also important for education to provide students with tools to connect with and study the

is because it can be found on old architecture, and also because learning a difficult language exercises
certain parts of the brain. Latin can also be applied in a medical setting for students interested in that
field. Similarly, schools teach mathematics beyond the algebra needed in daily life. This is also to
exercise the brain in logical thinking, as well as to prep students who will go into scientific or

What Is The Theme Of The Ruins Of A Great House
Ruins of a Great House is a symbolic poem written by Derek Walcott that tries to explain the British
Imperialism system by referring an abandoned house as a colony under the British Empire. He
describes the poor condition of an abandoned house, it s surroundings and tries to visualize the effect
of British imperialism in the then society. Walcott talks about the effect of British Imperialism to
establish colonial slavery, the awful treatment of slaves, and the gradual destruction of the imperialism
system. At the very outset of the poem he says, though our longest sun sets at right declensions and
makes but winter arches, it cannot be long before we lie down in darkness, and have our light in

Farewell, green fields, Farewell, ye happy groves! The background of this quote taken from William
Blake s Night is opposition of British monarchy. And thereby Walcott means that with the beginning
of British imperialism the green fields lost their life. It s like the British Empire sucked all the life of
common people and made the society sick like a leprosy patient. It s like the green fields are affected
with leprosy. The poet is angry for such heinous attitude of the British towards the slaves of the
seventeenth century. And he bids farewell to the good old days with the introduction of the British
Imperialism. But this system didn t last long when the poet mentions, Deciduous beauty prospered and
is gone, But where the lawn breaks in a rash of trees. As British Empire got involved in immoral
colonial slavery, the system lacked proper authority to ensure effective administration which resulted
in its decay and loss. The lime trees and an wagon wheel under manure describes the use of slaves led
by British silt. Walcott uses imagery to make the readers perceive how the society felt like from his
perspective. He says, The world s green age then was a rotting lime which potentially refers how the

studying culture in this way we gain insight into how different communities lived in different areas of

Parenting shapes how children are raised. We need an archaeology of parenting and also an
archaeology of childhood because we have to be able to look at the two groups separately. However,
we also need to realize that these children grow up to be adults and everything they do as children and
how they are raised effects how adults live in the future. Despite childhood development being such a
big influence on who we are as adults, there has been surprisingly little attention devoted to
understanding how Neanderthal childhood was distinctive. Spikins argues that it is now crucial to
forward our understanding of children in prehistory . Traditionally, people view Neanderthal children
as having lived a dangerous and harsh life. However, a lack of recent review of this culture could
mean we are neglecting aspects of Neanderthal life that we overlooked in the past. Most research up
until now has focused on biological aspects such as growth and development by using skeletal
analysis. While this is important we have greatly neglected the social and cultural aspects of these
people s lives. Like early modern humans, Neanderthal children were born in a rather altricial state.
This would make them vulnerable and mean there had to be some type of hands on care by an older
person in the first few years of development. This could have been by the infant s biological parents or

civil war. The industrial North was afraid that the agricultural South would force America to become a
slavery country. However, the South hoped to expand slavery into western territories to gain more land
for plant cotton. As the North and the South had grown further apart, the war is unavoidable.
The South secede from the Union because they felt their states right to holding slavery was threatens
by Lincoln s election. In the South, Slavery is a way of life. The South Knew that Lincoln hated the
slavery and believed that Lincoln would abolish slavery. Therefore, when Lincoln was elect, that was
the final straw for the South. The Atlanta Confederacy

Dead Poets Society Reflection
The Dead Poets Society is a tale about a small secrete club established in an all male preparatory
school. In the beginning of the movie the school s newest English teacher arrives, Mr. Keating, a
former student at the school. The students discover his teaching methods are rather untraditional as he
would have his students tear pages out of the textbook to march around the courtyard. One of the main
lessons of Mr. Keating s lecture was the aspect of carpe diem or seize the day. In the beginning of the
movie, several boys find Mr. Keating s yearbook and discover that he was in The Dead Poets Society.
This club was reintroduced by several boys: Neil Perry, Todd Anderson, Charlie Dalton, Knox
Overstreet, Steven Meeks, Richard Cameron, and Gerard Pitts. Once the Dead Poets Society is
established each boy starts on their own ambitious adventure regarding love or their dreams. When
each boy is tested with one of their adventures they think of Mr. Keating s words, carpe diem, and
they peruse their challenge. In the story Todd Anderson struggles with his shyness and the idea that his
thoughts are meaningless. While others such as Knox Overstreet fall in love with a girl who he should
never peruse. Neil Perry, disobeys his father and tries to peruse his dream of becoming an actor
however, when Neil s father condemns the idea of Neil performing in the play. At the end of the
movie, the boys achieve their ambitions. Neil performs in the play however; Neil s father is present

The True Value Of College Athletes. College Student-Athletes
The True Value of College Athletes College student athletes have some of the most time consumed
schedules of any college student. In regards to time commitment with their athletic team, that can be a
full time job in itself. Not to mention the academic commitment that should come before athletic in
the first place. Because college student athletes bring so much to the table in their commitments, there
has been an increased discussion on if college athletes should be paid. With increasing controversy of
the topic, college athletes should ultimately be paid because they are the cause for high revenue
streams of colleges, it would limit illegal or under the table payments, and because they make

Johnson and Acquaviva make the point that between weight training sessions, film room, practice,
individual workouts, travel, and finally competition, these student athletes cannot feel much like
students. (Brill 7) This further validates the point that college athletes should be paid if they are
spending so much time on athletics, and helping the school earn money along the way. If college
athletes were paid, it would motivate them competitively as well because the revenue the program
brings in is partially based off performance for signing TV deals and getting bids to postseason games
that earn more money for the school. The more successful a team is, the more money they will be able
to negotiate for in TV deals and the more likely they get bids to play in post season games to generate
extra revenue. Universities also make a fortune off of selling Since the players are the source for this
revenue by playing in these games, they would be even more competitively driven to perform their
very best because as a result they would get paid more money and generate more money for the school
at the same time. A win win scenario for both the student athletes and their respective universities.
Many of these college student athletes come from low income homes as well. The argument could be
made that if the university is able to help these athletes families with a form of pay without making
significant sacrifice, then they

Compare And Contrast Biological And Behavioural...
This essay will outline and compare both biological and behavioural perspectives on human
behaviour. The history, major discoveries and theories will be discussed along with some of the most
influential theorists in each of these two areas of psychology. This essay will also compare the two
areas strengths and weaknesses in the field of psychology.
Biological psychology is the study of how biology affects a number of psychological processes i.e.
how the mind affects the body (Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner Hood 2015). The study of the mind has had
many influential figures throughout history that often use each other s ideas as a stepping stone to
further advance psychology, some of the first being Plato and Aristotle. Plato believed in nativism and
theorised some skills and characteristics are innate and a person is born with them (Schacter et al,
2015). Aristotle, however, was in favour of philosophical empiricism i.e. that all knowledge is
acquired through experience, yet current scientists do not consider that nativism and empiricism are
entirely accurate (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle also believed that the brain existed to cool the blood,
as during that time people were sceptical that an organ could be responsible for behaviour (Kolb,
Whishaw Teskey 2016). The next major advancement in biological psychology was the introduction
of phrenology by Francis Gall, Gall s theory suggested that all psychological capabilities had a
specific place in the brain (Schacter et al, 2015). This theory later turned out to be correct, although
was overshadowed by Gall s insistence that he could state a person s character dependant on the size
of lumps and indentations on a person s skull, which he thought would represent the size of that brain
region beneath (Schacter et al, 2015). Due to this, in spite of a large following, phrenology was
quickly discredited. Biologist Pierre Flourens, unhappy with Gall s research, began removing
localized areas of the brain in various animals to observe their behaviour (Schacter et al, 2015).
Flourens then found that animal s movements differed to those with intact brains. This mirrored a
situation for surgeon Paul Broca with whom one of his patients had damage to the left side of

Prediagnosis Of Parkinson
Almost a million Americans have Parkinson s disease, a common neurological degenerative disease
that causes loss in motor functions. Costing up to 25 Billion dollars a year in the US alone, there are
on average about 60,000 individuals that are diagnosed each year. However, with many cases going
undetected, the number is expected to rise, as the 21st century progresses. Scientists and doctors are
pulling together many resources to slow the progression of this devastating disorder; and now it is
known (although there is not cure), that there are certain genes that correspond with the Parkinson s
disorder. Although many have claimed that these genes show an accurate pre diagnosis of the disease,
there has been much debate on whether the testing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unless diagnosed individuals are wealthy, they will not be able to pay the 100,000 dollar cost per
patient. With treatment this expensive, many families are either unable to pay the price, preventative
treatment seems far from ideal. Also, unlike breast cancer or other controversial diseases with pre
diagnosis available, Parkinson s is impossible to prevent. There is absolutely no known cure for the
disease, only measures to slow down the degredation of the body and additional pain killers are
available. Learning that you will most likely have the disease and the symptoms will progress may
help the individual make potential better choices financially, however the emotional distress that is
caused by the pre diagnosis and potential higher cost due to a longer treatment plan is counter intuitive
for the patient. As the American Society of Clinical Oncology states in its principles of Genetic
testing; 1) the individual has personal or family history features suggestive of a genetic cancer
susceptibility condition, 2) the test can be adequately interpreted, and 3) the results will aid in
diagnosis or influence the medical or surgical management of the patient or family members at
hereditary risk of cancer. Although the Parkinson s pre diagnosis can aid with the first two principles,
the Parkinson s disease is not fit because whether or not the genetic predisposition is known, the
prevention of the disease is impossible

Designing Developing And Sourcing Of A New Product
II. Development Supply Chain: This phase deals with the process involved in designing developing
and sourcing of a new product. This phase does not deal with the transportation or the inventory level

this phase takes care of the sourcing and design. Development of supply chain is a time consuming
procedure which generally takes up to one year which calls for good forecasting data and

What Is The Similarities Between The Scarface And The...
I. Introduction
Scarface is a crime drama film that is famously known for being one of the most violent and profanes
films during its time of release. Focusing on the rise of Tony Montana (Al Pacino) on the criminal
ladder and becoming more psychotic as his career as the leader of his drug empire progresses, leading
to his eventual downfall. Directed by Brian de Palma, written by Oliver Stone and with performance
of the cast with the lead Al Pacino, Scarface became a cult classic among the masses.
The Godfather is a mob film focuses on the Corleone Family, with its head Vito Corleone (Marlon
Brando) trying to find a suitable heir to his empire, while war is breathing down the neck of other
crime families. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) then steps in to organize the family back to shape.
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based from the novel of the same name written by Mario Puzo.
It received critical acclaim by critics and was cited as an influence by real life mobsters due to its
rather realistic portrayal of gangster life and Cosa Nostra.
Even with the similarities of theme, both movies have a parallel between how it portrays itself, and it
further widens the gap due to its difference of timelines.

Tony Montana is an immigrant that has nowhere else to go, he then goes to a life of crime, got rich,

are wrong; the movie portrays violent scenes as a major turning point for characters, both tragic and
bittersweet. Like the tagline of the movie. Tony loved The American Dream, with a

The Monster or Beauty of Advertisement Essay
In life, nothing is hardly ever clear, as if there s never just one side over the other, but more commonly
a mix of both. This idea applies to something that appears in almost everyone s life, advertisements.
For every TV owner, laptop user, or shopper, it s nearly impossible to escape the grasp of
advertisements. But a current controversy that catching people s attention is the idea that
advertisements can possibly be manipulative instead of the expected persuasive advertisement. In Two
Ways a Can Get Hurt, Jean Kilbourne believes that advertisements degrade and possibly even remove
women from power. Also, in With These Words, I Can Sell You Anything, by William Lutz, the idea
that open words, and how companies can use these tactics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When looking at Kilbourne s two premises it is easy to agree with premise one, that commercials do
degrade women, but there doesn t seem to be the connection between women being degraded, to these
commercials being manipulative. In the printed ad Cigarette Women, there is a small picture with a
male and female actress, not very clear, but still noticeable. To the ignorant eye, it would be viewed as
harmless, but in the eyes of Kilbourne it speaks so much more. The position of the women in the
picture could be seen as helpless and dependent on the man who has a powerful stance. The clothes on
these two models could be seen in a similar way with the man being fully clothed in a business, while
the woman is in a short white dress. These are two factors that do show this picture to be degrading
and provocative, but it isn t manipulating.
Manipulation can be seen with having the traits of being forceful, by being tricky, or to falsify for one
owns advantage. This picture of the man and the women is not forceful by any means, is does not
threaten or pump fear in the minds of the audience. There doesn t seem to be anything falsified to be
tricky for the advertisement company s own good. So Kilbourne s idea that by degrading women these
companies are manipulative, is false. They use the factors of persuasion by inducing, or prevail, or
urge on successfully. The urge is created by the

Leadership is important to survive through each and every kind of situation (Burrow, et al. 2007). The
main leader of every company is the CEO, who is not only a president but also a chairman. The strong
leadership of the company is the reason that it has continued in achieving right place in list of the

The Rise of Silas Lapham by William Dean Howells Essay
The Rise of Silas Lapham by William Dean Howells
In the novel, The Rise of Silas Lapham, William Dean Howells makes a particular point about the
morals of an individual in the business world. His point is that an individual, such as Silas, must check
their morals at the door if they have any plans to make it in the business world. The novel has always
been popular, partly because it presents Lapham s financial and social failure as consciously and
deliberately chosen when he has to decide whether he shall cheat and stay on top in business or tell the
truth and fail irrecoverably (Gibson 283). The Rise of Silas Lapham is a novel that deals with the
potential moral corruption of a man by money. The outward signs of Silas Lapham s ... Show more

Obviously the pressures of big business would be much tougher to deal with in a big city, like Boston,
than in a small rural farm town, because the competition to be the best is much greater in the urban
areas. The time period in which the story is set, the late 1800 s, is also a crucial part of the puzzle. All
throughout the early 1800 s up until the present, big business has been on the rise. When large
companies started setting up in cities, people moved to where the jobs were, and soon small towns
became gigantic urban metropolises. The big business is what ultimately causes Silas moral rise and
financial fall, and that is a crucial part of the plot. If the story where set in a different time period it
would not have as big an impact. Also during the late 1800 s, social standing was very important. In
those days a person was measured by their social standing, so it meant everything. The reason this is
important is because, interwoven in the main plot is a secondary plot. This secondary plot has to do
with the love triangle between Penelope Lapham, Irene Lapham, and Tom Corey. Everyone seems to
think that Tom and Irene are in love with each other, while in actuality it is Tom and Penelope that are
in love. This secondary plot only adds to Silas and Mrs. Corey s inner struggles. If the story where not

Literary Commentary In All The Pretty Horses
Literary commentary essay In the excerpt on pages 147 151 of All the pretty horses Cormac McCarthy
shows through various literary techniques such as imagery and diction. As well as his use of language
and the structure of the passage to show how the horses are such a big part of the story, how they are
not just a way of transportation for John Grady Cole and Rawlins, they are almost everything to them.
From friends to their life s passion these horses are what really drives them and neither of them would
be the same without them. Throughout this passage there are multiple effects that come from Cormac
McCarthy s choices of literary techniques and structure of the passage. They all mainly focus on the
horses and their impact with John Grady and Rawlins. Throughout the passage Cormac McCarthy
shows that the horses are a connection to the things that John Grady and Rawlins love, you never
really see them upset when they are with horses. McCarthy displays this on pg 147 when it says They
rode hard hazing the wild manadas out of the high valleys and they camped at their old site on the
south slope of the Anteojos where they camped with Luis. This is something that both Rawlins and
John Grady love doing and it is closely tied to the horses. McCarthy most likely does this to symbolize
how important the horses are to them and also how the horses are not just a mere mode of
transportation, they are their passion and what they love doing. You can tell that both have formed

How And Treat Eye Allergies
How to diagnose and treat eye allergies?
Description: medical examination is one of the best and most approved methods that can protect your
eyes from allergic reactions as this is the right method of detecting the eye allergens.
It is very much necessary to make thorough diagnosis of eye allergies otherwise the original causes
cannot be discovered ever. You can now visit any reputed and experienced ophthalmologist so that
your eyes can be properly examined.
Why diagnosis of eye allergies is needed?
Nowadays, eye allergy examination is usually made by means of advanced procedures so that the
hidden troubles or issues can be easily and accurately detected without any confusion. Infectious
conjunctivitis spread faster and this is why the internal tissues or cells of your eyes can get badly
affected if the infectious elements are not detected on time.
Medical histories are also checked out in order to find out that whether your eyes have got any
existing troubles or not. If your eye condition is week from the very beginning, then in that case
conjunctivitis can be quite dreadful as disastrous results might occur. If you have weak retina or high
power, then infectious elements can make your eye condition more critical and this is the reason
medical histories need to be judged properly. Slit lamp microscope is generally used by the eye
specialists so that eye examinations can be conducted with great care and higher accuracy.

In the future I think that the government will take white collar crime more serious. People often
believe that criminals that commit white collar crimes get off easy because they did not murder

long prison sentences is a major deterrent to white collar crime. Recently, many white collar criminals
have received very long prison sentences. For example, Bernie Madoff was charged with Securities

Bananas, Chiquita, and Globalization
Bananas, Chiquita and Globalization
While globalization is a relatively new phenomenon in theory, but not necessarily in history, as of
2009 it has created transnational corporations linked to government, international economic
institutions, and non government organizations. (Steger 67). With this definition bananas are a
textbook example of the globalization of tropical fruit commodities. The transnational corporations of
the United States, most notably Chiquita, Dole and Del Monte, have been linked to the governments
of Latin and South America, the World Trade Organization, and the organic fruit movement. By

It is at this first stage of production at the plantation where the most exploitation of workers takes
place. As an article about workers rights in Ecuador says, people are not seen as being as important as
the final product (Astorga 2). Because a lot of banana exporting countries have monoculture
economies, most of the countries depend on jobs and income from banana producers. Most of these
jobs are contracts too resulting in only temporary work. Not surprisingly, 10 cents of every dollar
spent on Chiquita bananas stays in the production process (Wiley 71). Banana workers are notorious
for being paid dismal wages; it should be no surprise that profits benefit the powerfully rich fruit
companies not plantation workers. Ecuador , in particular, is known for paying the lowest wages
because there are few unions. The average daily wage in Ecuador is $2 in contrast to $9 in Costa Rica
(STITCH), allowing Ecuador to sell boxes of bananas for cheaper. With no unions, Chiquita does not
pay health insurance, overtime pay or money for education. For most banana workers the threat of
being fired triumphs the promises of unions, simply because Chiquita would not be profitable without
cheap labor. For banana workers they must work under strenuous working conditions, often working
twelve hour days, carrying heavy bunches of bananas cut from the banana trunk.

The European Influence On Indigenous Hawaiian Culture
After the European influence upon indigenous Hawaiian culture, Hawaiians radically reinterpreted
and transformed their culture... part of this transformation was the abandonment of the kapu system in
1819. The meaning of the organization of architecture no longer reflects upon ideology of the
Hawaiians, but the adaptation of more technological advanced living space. As a result, many temples
were dismantled or destroyed, leaving only he foundation stones (Ladegoged, #).
John Young and Isaac Davis built the first Western style building, Kailua Kona, in Hawaii in 1795.
Afterwards, three more brick palaces were constructed in Lahaina. These designs were very much like
the Lahaina prison shown in previous pages. Even though Western brick houses slowly became
predominant, traditional grass hale were still prevalent, though adobe and coral block houses were
also being built near Honolulu harbor ( Hawaii History ).
Another significant step towards a new era for Hawaiian architecture was Mr Isaac Davies house. The

houses for a more public display of status enhancing European goods (Ladegoged, #). By 1837, even
local houses used material found in Hawaii but with more Western elements incorporated into the

Efficient Delivery Of Cancer
The efficient delivery of drugs and energy to tumors faces several difficulties and obstacles that need
to be overcome for effective cancer treatment. Nanoparticles administrated through intravenous
injections accumulate at a tumor site due to the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, but
only a small quantity of the injected particles can actually reach the tumor (Su et al, 2016). The
majority of the nanoparticles interact with cancer cells at the periphery of a tumor which presents a
physiological barrier that prevents most of the injected particles from reaching the tumor (Su et al,
2016). In addition to this barrier, there is also another significant obstacle, cancer associated
fibroblasts , which can also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This conglomerate composed of protein lipid, sponge like carbon, and reduced graphene oxide (rGO)
was administrated by the researchers to mice in order to study the material s ability to transport the
hydrophobic drug docetaxel (DTX) and perfluorohexane (PFH) for deep tumor penetration and
therapy (Su et al, 2016). The Lf lipo GNS composite is capable of carrying large amounts of drugs in
its pores which can be released through the absorption of light by the GNS. By applying near infrared
(NIR) irradiation, the gasification of PFH occurs due to an increase in local temperature in the
graphene nanosponge which as a result damages and ruptures tumor spheroids (Su et al, 2016).
Consequently, the combined effects of gasification and chemo and thermotherapy can substantially
reduce tumors and even completely eliminate them without future reappearance. The researchers
conducted a study on in vitro photolytic therapy on RG2 tumor spheroids incubated with the control
group (PBS only), Lf lipo US GNS/DTX, Lf lipo US GNS/DTX+NIR, and Lflipo US GNS/DTX
PFH+NIR (Su et al, 2016). Due to its tumor penetration ability, the researchers used 10 μg/mL of 40
nm Lf lipo US GNS to conduct the study. After the composite was administrated to the tumors, they
were allowed to incubate for 4 h followed by NIR irradiation with a power density of 2 W cm 2 for 10
min and then were stained with propidium iodide to

Petrochina Case Analysis
PetroChina Case Analysis The article PetroChina: International Corporate Governance with Chinese
Characteristics describes the major concerns about PetroChina s corporate governance when and after
it was listed on NYSE and HKSE, which was the first Chinese state owned enterprise launched IPO
overseas. This paper is based on the information provided by the article and will discuss in three
aspects: Firstly, why corporate governance was important for China s SOEs? Secondly, what were the
special problems associated with PetroChina s corporate governance model and what could be done to
improve it? Finally, the postscript: the things I learn from this case study. Part I Corporate governance
is important for companies all around the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So far, it looks like a draw between the Cons and Pros for investing in PetroChina, right? However,
what investor should worry was that the favorable policies or even the whole political atmosphere
might change someday, which would become a large political risk. That risk was hard to be eliminated
using portfolio diversification since China was going to become the world s 2nd largest economy and
would have enormous impact on the economy in the rest of the world. In other words, China s market
was too large for investors to avoid and if you want to use risk assets from other areas of the world to
diversify the risk from China, the weight of those assets would need to be incredibly too high.
Nevertheless, the most interesting part is that investment may be an art of counterbalance and
compromise, when you look at the tremendous market volume and brilliant prospectus of China s oil
and gasoline market. This country has the largest population of 1.3billion, the second longest
highways length of almost 100,000 kilometers and the second largest automobile population of 85
million. And it was growing in average 8% during the years. No one wants to miss the chance to
invest in a such economy. As purely international investors with less concern on political right and
wrong or environment issues, driven by profit and price of stocks

Economic Factors That Affect Population Growth
A Discussion of the Economic Factors that Affect Population Growth in Dubai
This essay forms a discussion about the economic factors that affect population growth, in Dubai.
According to McGinley (2013), there are two factors that contribute to population growth: high birth
rates and immigration into a country. Births add more people to the country s total population, thus
increasing the total population. Deaths, on the other hand, reduce the population size, thus decreasing
the total population. Further, immigration adds to the population, but emigration reduces the total
population. This essay proceeds as follows. First, I outline the levels of the Demographic Transition
Model (DTM) and the factors that affect the birth and death rates. Second, I consider methods that
other country s (namely Germany and New Zealand) have established to control their total population.
Third, I devote attention to the status of Dubai s economy and how it has contributed to population
growth. Finally, I draw this essay to a conclusion, summing the discussion within.
A nation can experience a series of fluctuations in its total population. According to Barker et al.
(2008), the DTM is composed of five stages (the high fluctuating, early expanding, late expanding,
and low fluctuating and decline stage). The DTM model explains how birth and death rate changes
over time; these changes are entirely dependent upon economic development. For instance, death rates
drop rapidly as a country begins to

Mel Brooks Movie Blazing Saddles
Mel Brooks is a man who has accomplished many things including books, broadway plays, tv shows,
and movies. Every filmmaker has successful movies, as well as terrible ones. Sometimes when you try
to appeal to the critics, you lose your audience, and that s why Mr. Brooks never tried to impress the
critics. However, a few of his various movies have been critically acclaimed, but the critically
acclaimed movies aren t his best. His most famous movies are the ones that critics absolutely
despised. Blazing Saddles is Mel s most famous movie, which is followed by Spaceballs and Young
Frankenstein. Mel Brooks was always into comedy, even as a child. Which is why his movies are
comedy/parody themed. Brooks was born in 1926, and he is

Response to His Coy Mistress Essay
Response to His Coy Mistress Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress is the charming depiction of a
man who has seemingly been working very hard at seducing his mistress. Owing to Marvell s use of
the word coy, we have a clear picture of the kind of woman his mistress is. She has been encouraging
his advances to a certain point, but then when he gets too close, she backs off, and resists those same
advances. Evidently, this has been going on for quite some time, as Marvell now feels it necessary to
broach the topic in this poem. He begins in the first stanza by gently explaining that his mistress s
coyness would not be a crime if there were world enough, and time… (l.2). He compares his love to a
vegetable, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are left with no doubt as to what the fate of the lovers will be, as well as the state of his own
feelings for her: then worms shall try That long preserved virginity, And your quaint honor turn to
dust, And into ashes all my lust (ll. 26 30). These lines seem a bit morbid, but I also sense the use of
horror, on Marvell s part, to further convince his mistress to succumb to his affections. He is basically
telling her that if she continues to resist him, it will be the worms that remove her virginity from her,
as opposed to someone who really cares about her, namely him. He also reminds her that the honor
that she is clinging to so tightly to will mean nothing when worms know her intimately. Further, his
feelings for her will be utterly gone. The second stanza ends with these lines, my favorite: The grave s
a fine and private place, / But none I think do there embrace. This ironic statement provides the
crowning argument: Marvell has just described a love that would be timeless if such a thing were
allowed. With a love such as this how can they let time slip through their fingers, and justify it? This
also provides the second, and perhaps more important theme in the poem. The message is that the
lovers, and consequently we who read the poem, should use the time we have been given to the best of
our advantage. In the case of Marvell and his mistress, they should use the time to clutch at the love
that is there in

Chuck Close Influences
Chuck Close an American photorealist artist who was born in the US during the 40 s and as a result
lived his teens 20 s through the emergence of the American counterculture. As a result of the politics
and world events at this time, much change was experienced by Chuck Close and he became a part of
challenging social norms. These ideas and experiences are influential on his work and impact in
various ways on his unique style in his artworks, as seen in his 1970 work called Big Self Portrait.
During the summer of 1988, Chuck also suffered a sudden rupture of a spinal artery which resulted in
Chuck needing more assistance whilst he was working on his portraits. The Incident as he calls it, also
led Chuck to a change in style in his works. This, however, didn t mean he was going to change as a
person as he continued to stay true to himself as an artist. This severe injury was one of a number of
health problems that Chuck endured including his Facial Blindness condition that he had obtained all
his life. The limitations that these conditions placed on him lead to the selection of subject matter, size
of works and the exacting practice he employed to execute them, seen in the image Mark. As seen in
the work Mark we see Chuck Close use a unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

panel on the left shows the world shortly after its creation, the middle panel shows the garden of

C Language
The C programming language (often, just C ) is a general purpose, procedural, imperative computer
programming language developed in the early 1970s by Dennis Ritchie for use on the Unix operating
system. It has since spread to many other operating systems, and is now one of the most widely used
programming languages. C also has had a great influence on many other popular languages,[1]
especially [[C++]] which was originally designed as an enhancement to C. It is the most commonly
used programming language for writing system software,[2][3] though it is also widely used for
writing applications. Though not originally designed as a language for teaching, and despite its
somewhat unforgiving character, C is commonly used in computer science ... Show more content on

The relatively low level nature of the language affords the programmer close control over what the
program is doing, while allowing solutions that can be specially tailored and aggressively optimized
for a particular platform. This allows the code to run efficiently on very limited hardware, such as
mass produced consumer embedded systems, which today are as capable as the general purpose
machines originally used to implement C.

Examples Of Creed
In the aforementioned examples, it was shown how the adoption of creeds causes hindrance to the
finding of truth in science. Yet, why did Hexley say that science commits suicide when it adopts a
creed? It is believed that science commits suicide and dies when its nature is altered. Creed is a
subjective statement that is treated as a dogma, as the incontrovertible truth. When such creed is
adopted in science, it not only hinders people s receptiveness to new ideas, but also threatens the
nature of science that is objective and subject to change based on scientific inquires. The adoption of a
creed and trusting it blindly would only cause science to lose its true nature and hence, what Huxley
referred to as the death of science.
The application of Newtonian science by Halley has marked the beginning of the age of faith in
science (Cohen 62). While it is true that science is fallible and tentative to change, many, especially
layman have taken science as a creed, considering new discoveries the truth. When there is such a
rapid development in science, different fields in science has emerged, causing ... Show more content

This has, in fact, allow civilisation to develop at an unprecedented speed in the previous decades. The
adoption of scientific knowledge as a creed has its grounds for its existence even though it might
hinder people s receptiveness to new ideas and the making of new discoveries. While it is paramount
that researchers in the front line to not take pre existing knowledge in science as creeds, it is
unjustifiable to say the adoption of a creed causes the death of science especially when considering the
public who do not have the expertise nor techniques and have no choice but to take the pieces of

  • 5. Analysis Of On Noise Essay On Noise, is a stoic piece composed by Seneca who was raised in Rome during the first century AD. On Noise explores an aspect of humanity that is surprisingly appropriate for our current times, how it is part of human nature to become distracted. Seneca explores the fascinating idea of how it is human nature to be distracted and that we must busy ourselves with tasks or succumb to the danger of being overcome by the distractions or the noise that surrounds us, he does through the extended metaphor of the obvious distractions of sound and by using the scenario of busy street in everyday life, for the sake of this essay we will take the definition of human nature to be The general psychological characteristics, feelings and behavioural traits of human kind, regarded as shared by all humans . We as a reader must take into account that this is a translation of a Latin text and that in Latin the order that the words are written is extremely important, even so that writers such as Ovid or Pliny could spend days on single sentences trying to perfectly compose it, Latin prose is an art form in itself, but we can grasp the simple techniques that are just as applicable in English as they are in Latin, and henceforth from them the examination of human psyche that Seneca has gone through in this text. • 6. Research Paper On Alfred Adler Compared to psychoanalysts of Victorian Era, Alfred Adler looked at psychology from a more holistic, humanistic and positive perspective. He was convinced that the main focus should be shifted from biological needs, drives and instincts to individual differences, experience, interaction and social environment. Adler placed great emphasis on sibling and peer group relationships, social interest and achieving perfection. He also introduced the terms inferiority and superiority complex, so commonly used nowadays, to the world. Inferiority, Superiority and Perfection According to Adler, the feeling of inferiority is an inseparable part of human existence. And in order to overcome that feeling one must compensate. In his early years, Adler focused more on how hunger for power and superiority motivated growth and striving for perfection. Later in his life, he shifter his focus toward social interest. Because of these changes some consider Adler s theory inconsistent or even scientifically unreliable. Adler was considerably deterministic the process of personality formation and especially about the time period when that happened. He claimed that once a personality is formed, it does not change significantly. In Adler s opinion the formation of personality took place at the age of 4 or 5. From the perspective of modern psychology, the extent to which Adler s theory about the order of birth is scientific is highly debatable. Many of his concepts are not measurable or manipulable, and his variable are neither physical nor behavioral. • 7. The Difference Between The Women Situation Of Ireland From... Introduction The aim of this report is to compare the difference between the women situation in Ireland from the independence till the present day, how it changed during those years. One of the biggest impacts to Irish society in the past 50 years has been the changing the role of women, with more females participating in the workforce and more in professional positions and this has caused relationship and family dynamics to shift. Until the last few years of the twentieth century Ireland was the most sexually repressed country in Europe, where women were classed as the second type citizens and the Catholic Church ruled virtually unchallenged. Church and state maintained that women should hold a certain morality, particularly relating to areas of sexuality and reproduction. As a result, until relatively recently, Irish women s issues remained largely ignored and therefore unremarked upon. (Irish Constitution 1922) One of the questions facing the Cosgrave government in 1922 with the establishment of the Irish Free State was the role of women in the new State. The 1916 Proclamation of the Republic had claimed the allegiance of every Irishman and Irishwoman and guaranteed equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens . All had their hopes dashed. Both governments led by Cosgrave in the 1920s and Fianna Fail governments led by de Valera in the 1930s enacted legislation depriving women of a number of rights. In 1924, the government proposed to exempt all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Principle Of Equity Law INTRODUCTION Contract is a part of our everyday life. We might not be aware of it but simply buying your lunch involves an agreement between you, as the buyer, and the seller. The contract is an agreement between two or more parties under which legal rights and obligations are created which will be enforced in courts. In addition, law of contract is all about the concepts relevant to the development, implementation and violation of the agreement. On the other hand, equity law is a set of rules exercised if there is no appeasement based on the common law of contract. Here, the court is given the right and freedom to use their own discretion in giving just and appropriate decisions. So, the principle of equity is applied when the common law of contract is not sufficient to give objective and fair judgement. But when would one say it s not adequate? How can it be perceived as unfair? What is the basis of this fair mindedness? Is this really justice? ANALYSIS Technically, if we look at the law of contract, there are a lot of loopholes that can be detected to escape from obligations. A mere breach of the essential requirements or conditions of an agreement can make the promisor be free from punishment provided he pays for the damages the other party had suffered. Easy right? Especially if you have the extra money to spare and just laugh about it afterward. This is where the equity law butt in and the court can apply various equitable remedies to the disadvantageous ones. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Aftermath Of World War II Essay The aftermath of World War II in East Asia resulted in much more than the rebuilding of individual governments or countries. The Second World War is still a major factor in diplomatic rifts between East Asian Countries. The treaties signed to end the war could not erase decades of history central to the current relationships between East Asian countries. Unfortunately, that is exactly what some argue Japan is doing through government approved revisions of history textbooks. The textbook revision controversy in East Asia is multi faceted and cannot be solely attributed to the aftermath of the World War II, but it does illustrate the effect of the World War II on international relationships in East Asia even still today. It s hard to imagine how a textbook could cause so much dispute. While the international contention is based on the content of the government suggested revisions, it is important to understand the textbook revision history and process first. The basis of the current textbook approval system in Japan dates back to pre World War II. Post war, the Japanese government used this already in place system to blot out passages that might offend the American occupiers (Masalski). During this time of American occupation post war, the Supreme Court for the Allied Powers enforced a system of yearly government review of textbooks in order to ensure that textbooks did not encourage emperor worship or militarism (Masalski). The textbooks used in Japanese schools are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I laid eyes on him wearing his flying suit, it opened my eyes to the aviation life, and an inspiration to enter the world of aviation. The transition of me entering this life was a video that ERAU broadcasted. • 13. America s Beer And Alcoholic Beverages Americans love their beer and alcoholic beverages. Alcohol tax was even a catalyst in creating this country by encouraging early Americans to fight for independence. Beer has been a common thread in our society for the past 200 years that brings people together to socialize. As our country modernized in the late 1800 s, breweries were constructed in every part of the United States. And of those breweries, three survived prohibition and raced to take their claim on the country s market share. Our country was carved up by three large beer companies; Miller was popular in the North, Budweiser was popular in the South, and Coors was the choice in the Midwest and West. Adolph Coors was an American success story and the company he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1940 s, the brewery introduced their line of premium beer calling it Banquet Coors , or as we know that brand today as Coors. Coors became the beer for many famous actors and politicians, which gave that brand prestige. The company took advantage of that prestige and centered their marketing campaign on average Joes drinking the preferred beer of presidents and actors. I will argue later in this analysis on how the brewery s loyalty to this premium brand of beer decreased market share in the 1980 s. In the 1960 s, Coors profited by being one of the first beer companies to market their aluminum cans. This was very important for Coors because of their production process. They were the only large beer company that didn t pasteurize their beer. This required them to get innovative with their delivery process. The beer industry was very saturated with competitors and Coors found their cash cow with their Banquet brand. However, in order to provide that unique taste their product was required to age longer and because they skipped the pasteurization process their product had to be shipped cold. I argue that if not for the innovative process of aluminum cans, Coors would not have enjoyed the success they did in 1960 s and early 1970 s. This was the peak of their innovative culture in the company. Their opportunities then were how to decrease carrying and delivery costs due to their unique brewing process and market a ... With that, the development of motion picture complexity has changed the film industry by a continuing technological evolution. It is evident that films have changed significantly over the last 100 years. The intricacy of filmmaking technology has rapidly progressed, allowing creative potential for filmmakers. Films are often due to technological advances, or even to reintroduce a classic story. Some examples of films that have been remade include Scarface (1932), remade in 1983, and The Magnificent Seven (1960), remade in 1998. The stop motion animation sequences were filmed separately from the live action scenes with the actors. These two parts were then combined to create the illusion that the ape was towering over the actors. In the 2005 remake of the film, director Peter Jackson relied on Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) to animate Kong. This use of CGI gave the director greater artistic control of the narrative. Many of the sets were computer generated, as well as Kong himself. To combine both the actors and the computer generated images together, chroma keying was used. In the scene where Ann Darrow is placed in the hand of Kong, the actress was filmed against a green screen, and held by a large green hand. When this scene was merged with the digital Kong, a composite image shows Kong holding her. Since chroma keying technology did not exist in the 1930 s, a full sized, fur covered hand had to be constructed to create the effect of Kong holding the actor. The difference between the visual effects in both versions is significant, making is apparent that the remake has displayed great technological advancement. These advancements also make the film more believable, and emphasise the story. Another aspect of the film that had a significant impact was colour. In the original version of King Kong, the film was shot in black and white. Sometimes there can be implications with interpreting the emotions in the film. Colour in film is a huge ... • 15. My Philosophy of Teaching Essay My Philosophy of Teaching Education is an important aspect in the lives of all individuals. From the day we are born until the day we die, we are constantly learning. At a very young age, children begin attending school. Throughout their educational career, children have many different teachers who hold many different views, beliefs, and values. Methods of instruction, personalities, and classroom interaction are all unique to the teacher. Some teachers may come in each day just because it s their job, and they need the paycheck. Yet, the ones who are there for the success of their students are the ones who truly make a difference. I believe the success of a student depends tremendously on the teacher. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teachers should pass this enthusiasm onto their students and gain their interest in the subject. Children need teachers who care about them, teachers who love them. When a student knows you care, they are more likely to succeed. Teachers should have confidence in their students. They should set high expectations for all students, and then give them the support and encouragement they need to obtain those expectations. Teachers should praise students. They need to create a comfortable learning environment where students can make mistakes. Mistakes are a part of learning. As a child my mother always told me, Practice makes perfect and If at first you don t succeed, try, try again. At times, students may become frustrated. Despite childhood development being such a big influence on who we are as adults, there has been surprisingly little attention devoted to understanding how Neanderthal childhood was distinctive. Spikins argues that it is now crucial to forward our understanding of children in prehistory . Traditionally, people view Neanderthal children as having lived a dangerous and harsh life. However, a lack of recent review of this culture could mean we are neglecting aspects of Neanderthal life that we overlooked in the past. Most research up until now has focused on biological aspects such as growth and development by using skeletal analysis. While this is important we have greatly neglected the social and cultural aspects of these people s lives. Like early modern humans, Neanderthal children were born in a rather altricial state. This would make them vulnerable and mean there had to be some type of hands on care by an older person in the first few years of development. • 24. Compare And Contrast Biological And Behavioural... This essay will outline and compare both biological and behavioural perspectives on human behaviour. The history, major discoveries and theories will be discussed along with some of the most influential theorists in each of these two areas of psychology. This essay will also compare the two areas strengths and weaknesses in the field of psychology. Biological psychology is the study of how biology affects a number of psychological processes i.e. how the mind affects the body (Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner Hood 2015). The study of the mind has had many influential figures throughout history that often use each other s ideas as a stepping stone to further advance psychology, some of the first being Plato and Aristotle. Plato believed in nativism and theorised some skills and characteristics are innate and a person is born with them (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle, however, was in favour of philosophical empiricism i.e. that all knowledge is acquired through experience, yet current scientists do not consider that nativism and empiricism are entirely accurate (Schacter et al, 2015). Aristotle also believed that the brain existed to cool the blood, as during that time people were sceptical that an organ could be responsible for behaviour (Kolb, Whishaw Teskey 2016). The next major advancement in biological psychology was the introduction of phrenology by Francis Gall, Gall s theory suggested that all psychological capabilities had a specific place in the brain (Schacter et al, 2015). This theory later turned out to be correct, although was overshadowed by Gall s insistence that he could state a person s character dependant on the size of lumps and indentations on a person s skull, which he thought would represent the size of that brain region beneath (Schacter et al, 2015). Due to this, in spite of a large following, phrenology was quickly discredited. Biologist Pierre Flourens, unhappy with Gall s research, began removing localized areas of the brain in various animals to observe their behaviour (Schacter et al, 2015). Flourens then found that animal s movements differed to those with intact brains. This mirrored a situation for surgeon Paul Broca with whom one of his patients had damage to the left side of ... There is absolutely no known cure for the disease, only measures to slow down the degredation of the body and additional pain killers are available. Learning that you will most likely have the disease and the symptoms will progress may help the individual make potential better choices financially, however the emotional distress that is caused by the pre diagnosis and potential higher cost due to a longer treatment plan is counter intuitive for the patient. When looking at Kilbourne s two premises it is easy to agree with premise one, that commercials do degrade women, but there doesn t seem to be the connection between women being degraded, to these commercials being manipulative. In the printed ad Cigarette Women, there is a small picture with a male and female actress, not very clear, but still noticeable. To the ignorant eye, it would be viewed as harmless, but in the eyes of Kilbourne it speaks so much more. The position of the women in the picture could be seen as helpless and dependent on the man who has a powerful stance. The clothes on these two models could be seen in a similar way with the man being fully clothed in a business, while the woman is in a short white dress. These are two factors that do show this picture to be degrading and provocative, but it isn t manipulating. Manipulation can be seen with having the traits of being forceful, by being tricky, or to falsify for one owns advantage. This picture of the man and the women is not forceful by any means, is does not threaten or pump fear in the minds of the audience. From friends to their life s passion these horses are what really drives them and neither of them would be the same without them. On March 9, 1968, only a few thousand enemy troops remained to staff the rear guard. The official termination of battle was on April 1. This was the first date since January 21 that no enemy fire noticed on Khe Sanh. The next mission is to open Route 9 so that supply missions could continue to support the forces. After reopening the base with no attacks, U.S. forces abandoned Khe Sanh Combat Base. Two hundred and five Marines died with 1,600 wounded. Verification of casualties of PAVN reached 10,000 to 15,000 killed in the battle presumably. The battle of Khe Sanh caused many changes in the artillery world due to losses that including personal loss and equipment loss. The intense shelling placed a high priority on the construction of improved ammunition and personal bunkers. These changes added an increase to the minimum level of protection of overhead cover so it was able to defend against 82mm mortar fire. This change not only added a level of protection to the troops but also their equipment and ammunition. This lead to the modern standard of 18 inches of overhead cover for ammunition and personal ... Bananas, Chiquita, and Globalization Bananas, Chiquita and Globalization While globalization is a relatively new phenomenon in theory, but not necessarily in history, as of 2009 it has created transnational corporations linked to government, international economic institutions, and non government organizations. (Steger 67). With this definition bananas are a textbook example of the globalization of tropical fruit commodities. The transnational corporations of the United States, most notably Chiquita, Dole and Del Monte, have been linked to the governments of Latin and South America, the World Trade Organization, and the organic fruit movement. By tracing the path from banana plantations to supermarket it becomes clear how the morals of capitalism have permeated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is at this first stage of production at the plantation where the most exploitation of workers takes place. As an article about workers rights in Ecuador says, people are not seen as being as important as the final product (Astorga 2). Because a lot of banana exporting countries have monoculture economies, most of the countries depend on jobs and income from banana producers. Most of these jobs are contracts too resulting in only temporary work. Not surprisingly, 10 cents of every dollar spent on Chiquita bananas stays in the production process (Wiley 71). Banana workers are notorious for being paid dismal wages; it should be no surprise that profits benefit the powerfully rich fruit companies not plantation workers. Ecuador , in particular, is known for paying the lowest wages because there are few unions. The average daily wage in Ecuador is $2 in contrast to $9 in Costa Rica (STITCH), allowing Ecuador to sell boxes of bananas for cheaper. With no unions, Chiquita does not pay health insurance, overtime pay or money for education. For most banana workers the threat of being fired triumphs the promises of unions, simply because Chiquita would not be profitable without cheap labor. For banana workers they must work under strenuous working conditions, often working twelve hour days, carrying heavy bunches of bananas cut from the banana trunk. Aside from social ... Roll Of Toilet Papers A travesty, horrific, devastating, and downright wrong, are expressions that describe how people feel when they find themselves trapped in the bathroom next to an empty roll of toilet paper. Leading individuals to believe everybody wants to change the world, but nobody wants to change the toilet paper (Quotes gram). Have you ever noticed yourself having to try and make your arms reach like Stretch Armstrong to grab a new roll of toilet paper, or sitting on a hard plastic toilet seat forced to wiggle and jiggling while attempting to use your foot to try and toe yourself a new roll? Such a situation can cause a person to pause and realize how little respect we give toilet paper. We need to provide toilet paper the respect it deserves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We expect it to be on the dispenser in our bathrooms, and we hope that it is in the stalls of public restrooms. When we run out of toilet paper we find ourselves in quite the predicament. Is this not reason enough to appreciate and respect toilet paper? In the average home one roll of toilet paper is suggested to last up to five days. The average consumers use eight to nine sheets per bathroom visit. Each person in America uses an average of 57 sheets of toilet paper per day. Toilet paper comes in four by five square sheets, and the average household will use one hundred rolls of toilet paper a year. Toilet paper is such a valued commodity that over seven percent of Americans steal rolls from hotels, motels, and public restrooms (toilet paper history). The white, soft, plush, double quilted toilet paper we appreciate today is not what our ancestors used years ago. History has indicated that Wealthy Romans utilized wool and rosewater, while the less fortunate were forced to use hay balls, a scraper/Gompf stick (long curved handle with a sponge on its end), corncobs, mussel shells, coconut shells, leaves, and any other miscellaneous items within reach. Individuals were also known to use rivers, streams, and lakes to clean themselves, leading to contamination and diseases infecting the water that people use for daily consumption ... The European Influence On Indigenous Hawaiian Culture After the European influence upon indigenous Hawaiian culture, Hawaiians radically reinterpreted and transformed their culture... part of this transformation was the abandonment of the kapu system in 1819. The meaning of the organization of architecture no longer reflects upon ideology of the Hawaiians, but the adaptation of more technological advanced living space. As a result, many temples were dismantled or destroyed, leaving only he foundation stones (Ladegoged, #). John Young and Isaac Davis built the first Western style building, Kailua Kona, in Hawaii in 1795. Afterwards, three more brick palaces were constructed in Lahaina. These designs were very much like the Lahaina prison shown in previous pages. Even though Western brick houses slowly became predominant, traditional grass hale were still prevalent, though adobe and coral block houses were also being built near Honolulu harbor ( Hawaii History ). Another significant step towards a new era for Hawaiian architecture was Mr Isaac Davies house. Nanoparticles administrated through intravenous injections accumulate at a tumor site due to the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, but only a small quantity of the injected particles can actually reach the tumor (Su et al, 2016). The majority of the nanoparticles interact with cancer cells at the periphery of a tumor which presents a physiological barrier that prevents most of the injected particles from reaching the tumor (Su et al, 2016). This conglomerate composed of protein lipid, sponge like carbon, and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was administrated by the researchers to mice in order to study the material s ability to transport the hydrophobic drug docetaxel (DTX) and perfluorohexane (PFH) for deep tumor penetration and therapy (Su et al, 2016). The Lf lipo GNS composite is capable of carrying large amounts of drugs in its pores which can be released through the absorption of light by the GNS. By applying near infrared (NIR) irradiation, the gasification of PFH occurs due to an increase in local temperature in the graphene nanosponge which as a result damages and ruptures tumor spheroids (Su et al, 2016). Consequently, the combined effects of gasification and chemo and thermotherapy can substantially reduce tumors and even completely eliminate them without future reappearance. The researchers conducted a study on in vitro photolytic therapy on RG2 tumor spheroids incubated with the control group (PBS only), Lf lipo US GNS/DTX, Lf lipo US GNS/DTX+NIR, and Lflipo US GNS/DTX PFH+NIR (Su et al, 2016). Due to its tumor penetration ability, the researchers used 10 μg/mL of 40 nm Lf lipo US GNS to conduct the study. So far, it looks like a draw between the Cons and Pros for investing in PetroChina, right? However, what investor should worry was that the favorable policies or even the whole political atmosphere might change someday, which would become a large political risk. That risk was hard to be eliminated using portfolio diversification since China was going to become the world s 2nd largest economy and would have enormous impact on the economy in the rest of the world. In other words, China s market was too large for investors to avoid and if you want to use risk assets from other areas of the world to diversify the risk from China, the weight of those assets would need to be incredibly too high. Nevertheless, the most interesting part is that investment may be an art of counterbalance and compromise, when you look at the tremendous market volume and brilliant prospectus of China s oil and gasoline market. • 43. Economic Factors That Affect Population Growth A Discussion of the Economic Factors that Affect Population Growth in Dubai This essay forms a discussion about the economic factors that affect population growth, in Dubai. According to McGinley (2013), there are two factors that contribute to population growth: high birth rates and immigration into a country. Births add more people to the country s total population, thus increasing the total population. Deaths, on the other hand, reduce the population size, thus decreasing the total population. Further, immigration adds to the population, but emigration reduces the total population. This essay proceeds as follows. First, I outline the levels of the Demographic Transition Model (DTM) and the factors that affect the birth and death rates. Second, I consider methods that other country s (namely Germany and New Zealand) have established to control their total population. Third, I devote attention to the status of Dubai s economy and how it has contributed to population growth. Finally, I draw this essay to a conclusion, summing the discussion within. A nation can experience a series of fluctuations in its total population. According to Barker et al. (2008), the DTM is composed of five stages (the high fluctuating, early expanding, late expanding, and low fluctuating and decline stage). The DTM model explains how birth and death rate changes over time; these changes are entirely dependent upon economic development. For instance, death rates drop rapidly as a country begins to ... • 45. Response to His Coy Mistress Essay Response to His Coy Mistress Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress is the charming depiction of a man who has seemingly been working very hard at seducing his mistress. Owing to Marvell s use of the word coy, we have a clear picture of the kind of woman his mistress is. She has been encouraging his advances to a certain point, but then when he gets too close, she backs off, and resists those same advances. Evidently, this has been going on for quite some time, as Marvell now feels it necessary to broach the topic in this poem. He begins in the first stanza by gently explaining that his mistress s coyness would not be a crime if there were world enough, and time… (l.2). He compares his love to a vegetable, which ... We are left with no doubt as to what the fate of the lovers will be, as well as the state of his own feelings for her: then worms shall try That long preserved virginity, And your quaint honor turn to dust, And into ashes all my lust (ll. 26 30). These lines seem a bit morbid, but I also sense the use of horror, on Marvell s part, to further convince his mistress to succumb to his affections. He is basically telling her that if she continues to resist him, it will be the worms that remove her virginity from her, as opposed to someone who really cares about her, namely him. He also reminds her that the honor that she is clinging to so tightly to will mean nothing when worms know her intimately. Further, his feelings for her will be utterly gone. The second stanza ends with these lines, my favorite: The grave s a fine and private place, / But none I think do there embrace. This ironic statement provides the crowning argument: Marvell has just described a love that would be timeless if such a thing were allowed. With a love such as this how can they let time slip through their fingers, and justify it? This also provides the second, and perhaps more important theme in the poem. The message is that the lovers, and consequently we who read the poem, should use the time we have been given to the best of our advantage. In the case of Marvell and his mistress, they should use the time to clutch at the love that is there in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result of the politics and world events at this time, much change was experienced by Chuck Close and he became a part of challenging social norms. Yet, why did Hexley say that science commits suicide when it adopts a creed? It is believed that science commits suicide and dies when its nature is altered. Creed is a subjective statement that is treated as a dogma, as the incontrovertible truth. When such creed is adopted in science, it not only hinders people s receptiveness to new ideas, but also threatens the nature of science that is objective and subject to change based on scientific inquires. The adoption of a creed and trusting it blindly would only cause science to lose its true nature and hence, what Huxley referred to as the death of science. The application of Newtonian science by Halley has marked the beginning of the age of faith in science (Cohen 62).
