Grand Sorceress Narrative Essay
Ray! Danielle yelled, chasing after her tiger, Calm down! The Grand Sorceress will be here any
minute! Ray skid to a stop, nearly crushing some flowers. The Grand Sorceress? She s coming today!
Oh I must make my golden fur coat look as dashing as possible! Danielle, help me! I don t have arms
or magic! I can t do it myself! Danielle stood there with a look of annoyance on her face. You ve got it
all dirty running around. Now, I have to use my magic, as the Grand Sorceress former apprentice, to
clean up a tiger s fur. With a swoosh of her hand, Danielle cleaned up Ray, still annoyed about having
to do so. A bright flurry of light appeared by the stream in the garden. Danielle and Ray immediately
stood nicely, ignoring what had happened only a minute ago. Hello Danielle, Hello Ray Ray bowed,
leaving Danielle to reply Hello, Grand Sorceress, welcome to my hideaway. Danielle did an

Tati 3 Worlds
Q1: What are the specificities of the three worlds displayed in the film? In the film, there were three
worlds displayed all separate from each other but still holding the same image for something
happening in France at the time. The new city showed signs of the advancing world the Tati had lived
in during the 1950 s. In the 1950 s France was recovering from war efforts from WWII. The new
world shows how France was rebuilding many structures and factories, and how these things were not
in common of what the old world was. Many of the streets had also been in non contemporary grid
styles. As well as people in neighborhoods staying within the bounds of their homes, not
communicating much, and trying to have their household become better than ... Show more content on

In the new world, everything was mostly gray. If there was color, it was very vibrant and centralized to
a specific location. For example, the car showed different colors of being pink and green. The old
world on the other hand had tons of colors. Everything was colorful, very little gray was around, and it
all just seemed more interesting to the viewer. This various range of colors had to do with the idea that
Tati was hinting that even though the new world has tons of different and new technologies, there was
not as much culture within it. The old world had lively colors, showing how different the two worlds
really were. In fact, Tati might have been showing how to new world is not all it s cracked up to be as
compared to the old world. Tati was trying to show that people should just stick to the old world that

Difference Between Postcolonialism And Post-Colonialism
Introduction
In the 1990s, when other fields failed to predict some major events of the twentieth century, including
the struggle to decolonise, post colonialism entered the field of International Relations.
Postcolonialism can be surmised as the theory of International Relations which uses the effect of
colonialism to describe the conditions of countries today, with a focus on personal information from
its peoples. Post colonial refers to the analysis of colonialism and anti colonialism. Postcolonial is
used to indicate the analysing of the current era of International Relations as the postcolonial era. The
relevance of postcolonial theory for the study of International Relations will be discussed and
analysed.
The increasing relevance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its theories have been shaped through many academic disciplines, including literary studies, social
history, French philosophy, and psychoanalysis. Great powers held colonies, but those colonies were
not studied unless they caused difficulties for individual great powers. The histories, peoples, and
cultures in Third World countries were ignored by International Relations until the 1980s. Post
colonial/postcolonial studies improved International Relations knowledge. It has been joined by
feminist analysis and movements of peoples that reverse the usual direction taken during the colonial

The Theme Of Loneliness In The Ascent By Ron Rash
Loneliness is usually a common and unharmful feeling, however, when a child is isolated his whole
life, loneliness can have a much more morbid effect. This theme, prevalent throughout Ron Rash s
short story, The Ascent, is demonstrated through Jared, a young boy who is neglected by his parents.
In the story, Jared escapes his miserable home life to a plane wreck he discovers while roaming the
wilderness. Through the use of detached imagery and the emotional characterization of Jared as self
isolating, Rash argues that escaping too far from reality can be very harmful to the stability of one s
emotional being. The isolated and desolate imagery throughout effectively conveys Jared s extreme
detachment from his surroundings. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While imagination is necessary in order to develop creativity and growth, too much escapism can blur
one s perception between reality and make believe, and arguably more important, between right and
wrong. After discovering a missing plane, most would report it to the authorities and not be in close
proximity to dead people for hours on end. Instead, Jared uses the plane as a place to escape from the
reality of his isolation, which is clearly a very disturbing and unethical action. Rash uses these images
of isolation and character development to demonstrate that emotional instability is a potential danger
of escapism. Furthermore, Rash describes the emotional characterization of Jared to demonstrate the
negative effect self isolation can have on escapism. In the beginning of The Ascent, Jared is seen as an
imaginative and innocent child, albeit a little lonely. However, the tone dramatically shifts when Jared
discovers the plane wreck and sit[s] in the back seat [for] two hours, though [to him] it seem[s] only a
few minutes (Rash 281). By finding comfort with dead people, it is clear that Jared is emotionally
disturbed. He isolates himself from others by depending on his imagination to make up for his lack of
company. This is further exemplified when Jared watches his parents pas[s] the pipe back and forth...
want[ing] to go back to the plane (Rash 284). Rather than stay with his drug abusive and neglectful

Tinfish-Personal Narrative
Once upon a time, in a town called Athens nestled in the northeastern section of the state of Georgia,
there was a boy and a girl who, even though they thought they were the most unlikely of lovers, fell
madly in love. The story begins in November of 2012, when a junior guy named Clarence at the
University of Georgia was getting ready to play a show with his band Tinfish at Bar South, one of the
numerous times that he has played in downtown Athens, hoping for the day that an agent standing in
the crowd digs his guitar playing and decides to extend the offer of a luxurious record deal. However,

Mexican Culture Of The United States
Music has always been an outlet to use to express oneself sorrows, desires, and to tell stories. Mexican
Americans have used music for decades to represent and honor their Mexican roots and patriotism, but
to also express their struggles in the United States. It s a pleasant combination of pride, struggle, and
the journey of a relatable pain. Stories that are always told with Regional Mexican music are that of
mojados (wetbacks), undocumented immigrants, deportation, government corruption and drug cartels.
One of the most famous Mexican bands to date is Los Tigres Del Norte. Los Tigres sing stories that

But our country is a melting pot that brings together different cultures and languages, a country that
brings together different people of color with different backgrounds and unites them to make one
nation. There is no perfect description to what an American should look like because we re all
different. But unfortunately, in today s society the narrative is different. We have built one where
immigrants are now outsiders invading our land and taking our resources, even though not so long ago
the U.S. did the exact same thing in a more violent and blatant way. Today, these immigrants and
primarily Mexicans have been attacked by the comments President Trump made during his campaign.
He called Mexicans, bad hombres and rapist and murderers. Now that he is President there has been a
series of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that have caused paranoia for all the
Hispanic community. The deportation of illegal immigrants has been present since the Bush

Analysis Of The Novel Night
Adrian Tineo
Peacock

25 Sept. 2015
Night
The novel Night is a vivid representation of a man s loss of faith from the beginning to the end of the
catastrophic era in which this book takes place. As a young boy Elie s inquisitive mind directed him to
the synagogue where he would study the Kabbalah s revelations and mysteries. Here is where Moishe
the beadle, a friend to Elie, would sit with him in the synagogue and they would talk for hours about
the intriguing secrets of Jewish mysticism. One important piece of advice that Moishe told Elie was,
There are a thousand and one gates allowing entry into the orchard of the mystical truth. This simply
meant he would need to pursue these answers on his own. However, Elie believed Moishe would help
him bind his questions and answers as well, into one. These meetings were interrupted when Moishe
was extracted from the Sighet where he experienced malice.
He then returned to Sighet after being left for dead and managing to escape from the Gestapo. Moishe
witnessed atrocious behavior that affected him profoundly. When he returned, he was not the same
person, the vitality in his eyes had perished. He told everyone what he had seen, but no one would pay
attention to his words. Even after hearing Moishe s words of warning they labeled him mad. Not
convinced of the stories Moishe spoke of, their normal lives kept on. This indicates that the Jews
refused to acknowledge what fate had laid ahead.

Pierre Bourdieu Research Paper
Framing the Debate: Bourdieu and Foucault
Pierre Bourdieu has constructed his theory on the concept of practice using the metaphor of a game.
He states that practice is a mode of generational meta theory of all forms of practices constituting the
game (Bourdieu, 1977: 72). Individuals enter the game with predetermined interest and act in
conformity to the rules of the game to achieve their desired goals. According to Bourdieu, the rules of
the game are subject to changes based on different social conditions referred as fields (Bourdieu,
2000:183). Habitus, in turn, refers to the schematic concept through which practice is generated.
Practices generate habitus and are shaped by the condition of life in a certain environment. Hence,
specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bourdieu (2000:148) notes that habitus is the practical knowledge generated through its agent s
history. Habitus is generated by human living experience at a certain environment where social
relations are produced in interaction with a specific habitat. The special determination of habitus as a
structural orientation is explained in relation to the idea of fields (Bourdieu, 1984). The field and
habitus interact in a two dimensional relationship with the field structuring the habitus, and the habitus
in its turn structuring the perception of the field (Bourdieu, 1988: 784). This shows that there has no
direct influence on the field, but eventually, habitus operates in a dialectic relationship between
structure and the agent. Bourdeau sees the field as a multi dimensional space of positions (Bourdieu
1985: 724) occupied agents who own power in alignment with, what he termed as, their symbolic
capital that is identified in the context of the specific material environment (ibid: 731). This dialectic
relation as noted by Bourdieu (2000:211) between habitus and the probabilities of a social space
provides the space for practice and and thoughts. He points out, one should not say that a historical
event determined a behavior but that it had this determining effect because a habitus capable of being
affected by that event conferred that power upon it (Bourdieu

Zebra Mussels In The Environment Essay
Zebra mussels have the potential to cause a decline in ecosystem goods, and the benefits that
reservoirs provide. Irrigation reservoirs artificially change the environment. This would cause larger
amounts of distress in the community if the reservoirs did not provide benefits such as recreation,
including fishing, as well as provide wildlife habitat (Adams Lee, 2010). Zebra mussels can render
these reservoirs unusable for recreation because their sharp shells can cut the feet of users. Zebra
mussels also clear the water due to their filter feeders, which can result in a decrease or change in fish
populations, as well outcompete native mussel species. This clearing of the water can also result in
algal blooms (Vanderploeg, et al., 2001). It would not be beneficial to irrigate land with water that has
algal blooms because toxic bacteria may cause the algal blooms. This would be particularly
detrimental when growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the threat of zebra mussels is real and should not be taken lightly. The Alberta irrigation
system contains over 8000 km of conveyance works, including pipelines and canals, and more than
fifty storage reservoirs, all of which could become infected should zebra mussels enter the province (
Irrigation in Alberta, 2015). The danger to agriculture and irrigation is very significant because this
species is able to reproduce so quickly. If zebra mussels were to become established in Alberta, the
monetary and time cost would be very high to manage the problem for the province, Irrigation
Districts, as well as the farmers. Many of Southern Alberta s popular boating lakes serve as irrigation
reservoirs ( Protecting Alberta s Irrigation, 2014). Boats infected with zebra mussels are one way that
they could be brought into the province. Fortunately, Alberta has a management plan to prevent zebra
mussels from being brought in, and is enacting

Love Song With Two Goldfish Essay
As coined by the Father of His Country, It is far better to be alone, than to be in bad company. This is
doubly appropriate as love is nothing more than a series of traumatic and disappointing events. Certain
authors utilize their works to portray love from their perspective and/or experience. In Love Song,
with Two Goldfish by Grace Chua, the author illustrates rejection in the most heartbreaking way
possible. In the poem What Love Isn t by Yrsa Daley Ward, she depicts love as unbearable and somber
rather than the joyful and wholesome experience consistently shown throughout pop culture. In the
short story, Was It a Dream? by Guy de Maupassant, the narrator grieves the loss of his beloved only
to have his feelings of woe amplified by betrayal. Through their illustrations, the authors show that
love is an extraordinary experience that is often filled with pain, distrust, and despair. ... Show more

One may have feelings for another; it is natural. When faced with rejection, however, the result is
ruinous. In the poem, Love Song, with Two Goldfish , a goldfish was infatuated with another fish.
However, the former was rejected because he could not give a life beyond the bowl. She rejected him
because of the rash promises he had made, something that made the latter miserable. He expected joy,
but was met with pain. Intolerance is common among relationships as most don t see them as a
pleasure, but more of a detriment. In the poem, What Love Isn t , Ward reflects on her experience with
love and how much it irritated her. She says, it is weight and it is too heavy to feel good sometimes. It
is discomfort. Instead of the passion and happiness one experiences in a relationship, Ward had none
of it and only went through pain. The pressure of such a romance gave her unneeded agony. While
love is depicted as a passionate and beautiful experience, it is a painful one filled with rejection and

journey that is portrayed throughout Star Wars and Lord of the Rings , revolves around one single
person or group. Star Wars tells the story about a group known as the Jedi who try to restore peace and

Sacajawea
Sacajawea is one of the most known American Indian women. Her voyage with explorers Lewis and
Clark was legendary. She was born in Tendoy, Idaho around 1788. She was a member of the Lemhi
Shoshone tribe. America was only 12 years old at this time and the territory ended at the Mississippi
river. One year after the United States doubled its territory with the Louisiana Purchase, the Lewis and
Clark expedition leaves St. Louis, Missouri, on a mission to explore the Northwest from the
Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean (History). Even before the purchase was finished, President
Thomas Jefferson sent his private secretary Meriwether Lewis and army captain William Clark on an

because a man coming for a battle would not bring a woman and a baby. According to Clark s journal,
the group reached the Pacific Ocean on November 4th, 1805. After reaching the Pacific coast in
November 1805, Sacagawea was allowed to cast her vote along with the other members of the

Passed in 1887, the General Allotment Act, or the Dawes Act, allotted, or parceled, portions of Native
American reservations into individual and family hands. The authority of allotment was granted to the
President of the United States. Individuals received either 80 or 160 acre plots, and in some instances
families received higher acreages. Each allotment was to be held in trust by the federal government for
a period of 25 years, which meant during that time period Indian peoples would not be subjected to

The Importance Of Social Work For Refugees And Asylum Seekers
Social Workers have a duty, professionally and morally to support refugee children and asylum
seekers.
Social workers have a professional and moral duty to ensure that services are provided to those who
most need it. The duty that Social workers have toward Refugees and asylum seekers, particularly
children is strong but not often met. People s wellbeing is a key ideal within social work and is
strongly represented within the Care Act 2014, the earlier Children s Act 2004 is also clear on the
protection of children s rights in the UK. In the essay there will be a discussion on how in some areas
the statute is not strong enough to allow Social Workers to work properly, but also how there needs to
be changes regarding social work focus on refugees.
Recently, United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF) has campaigns to help reform the UK s current
law on family. The law only recognises parents or spouses and civil partners as family. A child refugee
may have an older sibling, or more extended family such as an uncle but they would not be allowed
into the country under the Family Reunion rules. The dangers for children trying to reach family in the
UK are high and it leaves them at risk of exploitation, 78% of adolescents face some form of
exploitation whilst travelling the Central Mediterranean route to Europe, UNICEF (2017). Social
Workers have a duty here to protest the UK s laws, and the decision of the Government not to join the
EU s relocation scheme for Refugees. They did

The Challenges Of Immigrants In South Africa
Countless United states citizens declare that immigrants come to the United States to break the law,
take jobs away from natives, and seek aid from the government. Many do not stop to ask the question
why immigrants come to this country? Or why are they willing to work at such a low wage? Coming
from immigrant family myself, I have been judged and condemned by my background. But no one has
bothered to ask my background story of what is feels to come from an immigrant family. I feel no
shame and I feel proud where I came from, several will say horrible things about immigrants. Still I
am one of the millions of immigrants that are in this country going through similar challenges. As

Impact Of The Scottish Independent Movement
Impact of the Scottish Independent Movement The United Kingdom has always been an ardent
opponent of constitutional reform. In fact the very fact that through nearly a millennia they have
refused to produce their constitution in a formal written structure reiterates that sentiment. And
although the undercurrent of maintaining certain traditional and cultural norms remains strong, the
national government has on frequent occasion had to accept the often frequent and ill fated changes
within the local government. Throughout history the lion s share of these local changes have revolved
around the relationship between the formerly autonomous countries of Wales, Scotland, and Ireland.
But a comprehensive analysis of these complicated relationships requires a much more lengthy
background. As a result this paper will attempt to analyze the proposition of transfer of power in
greater part to the local government of Scotland within the context of the last decades of the 20th
century into the first decade of the 21st. A modern approach to the increasing separation of Scotland
and England can been seen beginning with the Labour Party during the 1970 s. The indecision and
hesitation with respect to reform was epitomized in the bold and determined proposal of the 1974
Labour government decentralization and transfer of power for Wales and Scotland. The policy was an
ill fated one largely in part to the internal divisions of the Labour party during this epoch. Fortunately

Vietnam s Orange Damnation In recent history, there has been an abundance of chemical warfare that
caused harm to society, nature, and immeasurable damage post war. To be more specific, the Vietnam
war was one of the most noticeable conflicts that was destructive to both parties involved through
chemical warfare, not only to the soldiers but also the environment. During the 1960s through to
current day, the chemical pollution of the many mangrove forests near local villages led to health
problems for the local Vietnamese people and the American soldiers. Located in Vietnam, mangrove
forest was one of the main sources of vegetation for enemy soldiers during the war. To decrease
enemy morale, the chemical herbicide, known as Agent Orange, was made by the U.S. to poison their
crops and starve the enemy troops. The highly potent Agent Orange created many unintended
problems for the locals as well as the troops because of the catastrophic damages to the landscape and
continues to affect the locals to this day. For example, polluted crops and farm lands, Bio
accumulation of Agent orange, and chronic medical problems. During the Vietnam war, the American
government used several dangerous herbicides, the most controversial was known as Agent Orange
due to its harsh impact the environment. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, Agent Orange was
supposed to destroy crops that might feed the enemy. In addition to destroy food supply, it also made
the land so polluted that the

Oh, Play that Thing and The Dead Republic by Roddy Doyle
In Roddy Doyle s series Oh, Play That Thing and The Dead Republic the world is shown to the
readers through the eyes of a wise fool, Henry Smart. The series includes a wide variety of magical
realism, and how Henry continues to fight social norms to get what he wants. The idea of society vs.
man and individualism takes a toll on Henry s pride by forcing him to jump from job to job or from
flat to flat that ultimately puts him in disarray. Each book s analysis should be in its own category, but
they have many identical ideas, themes, and characters that bring them together.
The elements of magical realism in a historical series, at first sight seem quite suitable. It is generally
agreed that the picaresque, with its humorous ideas on the social outcasts trying to endure an
aggressive environment, is a sensible move against the romanticize tendency of the plot. Magic
realism, with its limited interruption of mimetic rules, lends itself to a number of uses, postcolonial
being one of them. It introduces elements of grotesque moments that allow the readers to sense the
satirical potentials and it brings in metaphorical aspects to the plate. The aspects of magical realism
seem to play with the readers mind. The convention of picaresque combined with magical realism
builds a wider grotesque vision for the reader. It is not only the space but also the characters, the main
protagonist among them are shaped according to the defamilliarising rules of this magical picaresque
world.

Summary Of Anne Frank The Diary Of A Young Girl
How would you react if your family was loathed by both the government and neighboring citizens
simply because of your religion? What if you were ordered to work at a German labor camp, and if
you didn t, there would be serious consequences? In the diary, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl
by Anne Frank, Anne and her family go through the same exact situation but they choose to go into
hiding instead of fleeing the German occupied country. All of the characters, the setting, and the theme
depicted on what would come in the near future. Anne and her family also go through unexpected
daily situations that not only affect them as a whole, but stands as a place in Anne s heart. The
characters were an extraordinarily significant aspect of how the story would turn out in the end. Anne,
her family, the van Daan family, and Albert Dussel went into hiding at the Secret Annex. Anne was
particularly attached to her father, Otto, because she felt he was always there for him. ¨I model myself
after Father, and there s no one in the world I love more. He doesn t realize that he treats Margot
differently than he does me: Margot just happens to be the smartest, the kindest, the prettiest and the
best. But I have a right to be taken seriously too, (10 30 1943). She explained that her father had great
sympathy towards her, but she wanted to be perceived as an adult too. There were also residents she
despised, like Mrs. van Daan. Anne and Mrs. van Daan thought very different from each

Essay On Paul In Bloor s Coming To Tangerine
Coming to Tangerine Middle was quite the ride for Paul. Paul was able to see how the Tangerine
students are really like to compare to the dirty image that they have on them. First of all, transferring
to this school has made Paul develop confidence in himself to speak the truth, which builds up a
strong relationship with his teammates. Yet Paul still can t get over his main fear, Erik. Although it
may look like Paul grew an enormous amount, mentally in the novel, he still has a long way to go in
order to face Erik. At the end of Part 2, Edward Bloor expresses Paul s growth, emotionally in a strong
way. Paul has constructed more self confidence to speak the truth compared to his antecedent self.
When Paul first meets Tino, Victor and Hernando, on page 108 he states My stomach started to knot
again. This reveals that Paul is obviously terrified of them because he s the reason for their
suspension. In Paul s mind, if he tells the truth they will tear him apart in millions of pieces, which
makes Paul refuse to speak the truth. Later, Paul finally had the courage to admit that he was the one
who ratted them out, however Tino reacted surprisingly calm about it. Paul realizes that they are
actually really great people, once you get to know them. After Paul took the truth off of his chest, their

have been teasing Joey about his brother s death. Paul was angered by it, however he just ignored their
comment. This reveals that although they may have survived the sinkhole, Paul has no interest on

Analysis Of Forest Mcdonad s States Rights And The Union
In Forest McDonad s States Rights and the Union: Imperium in the Imperio, 1776 1876, he simply
begins the book by stating the main problem that the United States faced during the first one hundred
years of existence: the state and national government authority were not easily separated. Before the
time period of which McDonald analyzes, the people of the future country, the United States, lived in
England, where the line between state and national government authority was clear. McDonald
mentions the Act of Settlement of 1701 where Parliament decided the plan of succession, and he
mentions how Parliament could not compromise when English colonists who were settled in America
questioned their right to tax or make laws for the colonists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Declaration of Independence is split up into three parts. The preamble states the beginning and the
purpose of the country, the government being put into place, and how the government can be
destroyed if necessary. The rather lengthy second part of the Declaration is filled with accusations of
the King of Great Britain of the time. The actual declaration occurs in the third part of the document;
in this part of the document, the states are declared free and independent where they hold the power to
levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances... (10). Yet, the union itself can only do these three acts.
The country s issue of determining where the states and the union s power ends and begins starts with
the first document of the entire existence of the United States. McDonald brings up the interesting
point concerning War of 1812 again dealing where the authority of the government and the states lie.
Many did not agree with going to war in the beginning, and even the votes in the Senate and the
House were pretty divided. Those in the New England states protested and refused to fight in the war.
According to the Declaration of Independence, the states are sovereign; yet, when the War of 1812
was on the horizon and without the approval from Congress, Madison issued for one hundred
thousand men in the militia to gather and fight for the United States against the British. The people of
the New England were furious; even the governor of Massachusetts hindered

Protection Of Extra High Voltage Transmission Line Using...
Protection of Extra High Voltage Transmission Line Using Distance Protection
Introduction: Distance protection is the most widely used to protect transmission lines. The
fundamental principle of distance relaying is based on the local measurement of voltages and currents,
where the relay responds to the impedance between the relay terminal and the fault location [1]. There
are many types of distance relay characteristic such as mho, reactance, admittance, quadrilateral
polarized mho, offset mho etc. Every type of characteristics has different intended function and
theories behind [2].
In order to understanding the function of relays, software relay models must be realized and feasible
alternative to studying the performance of protective relays. Relay models have been long used in a
variety of tasks, such as designing new relaying algorithms, optimizing relay settings. Electric power
utilities use compute based relay models to confirm how the relay would perform during systems
disturbances and normal operating conditions and to make the necessary corrective adjustment on the
relay settings. [3][4]. One of the world wide recognized, powerful analysis software package, is a
MATLAB/SIMULINK, which has the capability for modeling, simulating and analyzing dynamic
systems using SimPowerSystems toolbox, in side Simulink package, different parts of a system such
as three phase transformer, three phase load, distributed parameters line, circuit breaker, etc can

The U.S Government Privacy Issues
The American government exploits privacy for the purpose of looking for clandestine terrorists. This
affects all the citizens that log in, and post updates on a daily basis, when in actuality a piece of their
privacy is being sent to the United States Government. The US government has a very powerful and
watchful eye, within the borders of the nation and the rest of the world. Privacy issues are no obstacle
for Big Brother (U.S. Govt.). Privacy affects many facets of our daily lives; lesser things have sparked
revolutions in the past. Privacy should be the central focusing topic for the public in this data age for
all citizens of the world. Whenever citizens of America, or the world for that matter, log in to their
computers, they do not realize the U.S. Government is compromising their very privacy.
Prior to the September 11th terrorist attacks of 2001 there was not a lot of surveillance being
conducted on citizens of the world or to the magnitude of which we now see these days. Homeland
Security, an entity of the U.S. Government, has been given vast and broad powers from the white
house, congress, and the senate, as well as the National Security Agency (NSA). The NSA s primary

areas and the areas where there is a scope of development
Now based on the assumptions and case facts some of the suggestions are as follows:
 The company can focus on underprivileged children who don t have the chance of getting education
due to unavailability of paper, pencils, pens etc. and other expenses. They can provide such
stationeries to the underprivileged students in rural areas.
 The company must come out with cheaply priced toothpastes, tooth brushes, tongue cleaners in
order to provide oral hygiene to the rural sector and launch an awareness program to make them aware
about the necessity of oral care in keeping yourself healthy.
 As done by lifebuoy they can also make the villagers realize the importance of hygiene and using
soaps on a daily basis, in order to stay clean and healthy. Free samples must be provided to the rural
and semi urban people. This free sample distribution will make them use the product of the company

Persuasive Essay On Martin Luther King
As there is no such thing as the best time in the eyes of Martin Luther King, likewise, the guidelines
mentioned of the correct method to perform tasks, are not complicated, rather rely on the basic morals
instituted in countless individuals from childhood. To begin with, in the page provided on Moodle
regarding King s principles, the first advice taught to activists attempting to enforce change in society,
is to ensure not be negatively influenced by others to commence falling into committing violent acts,
as this merely creates more anger and distress among people. When Mr. King had embarked on the
step to mold a Beloved Community where all of humanity were provided equal opportunity and
livelihood in the aspects of poverty, racism and militarism. Furthermore, Dr. King s Beloved
Community is a global vision, in which all people can share wealth in the earth, In the Beloved
Community, poverty, hunger and homelessness will not be tolerated because international standards of
human decency will not allow it. Racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry and prejudice will be
replaced by an all inclusive spirit ... be peaceful conflict resolution and reconciliation of adversaries ...
through a mutual, determined commitment to nonviolence ... instead of military power . (King 1)

community which continues to be attempted to fulfilled today, merely has clean intentions to not hurt

Clinton, and Sanders are the remaining candidates still in the race for the presidency. All candidates
have their faults, but Hillary s biggest fault is how she is campaigning. When people listen to her

The angular velocity begins at the support foot plant phase and continues into the follow through

principles to focus on improving, as the greater the velocity of the kicking leg, the greater the power.
The kicking leg is modelled as a three link kinetic chain composed by the segmental forces of the

Persuasive Essay On Smoking In Public Places
Imagine, arriving home after a wondrous evening at a restaurant with family only to realize that
everyone s clothes and hair smells like smoke. This happens all too often simply because people are
allowed to smoke in public. Numerous individuals are addicted to smoking cigarettes and do not have
any consideration for those around them when they make the decision to smoke. People that smoke
cigarettes have made their choice to subject themselves to the many health risks that smoking can
have on their body. However, many individuals have made the choice not to smoke cigarettes because
they do not want to subject themselves to many of the health risks that smoking can have.
Nevertheless, they are still required to deal with these things when others choose to smoke cigarettes
in a public place. How is that just? Non smokers should not be forced to deal with all the issues that
can arise from breathing in cigarette smoke or dealing with all their clothes smelling like smoke
simply for the reason that someone chose to smoke in a public place. Smoking cigarettes does not only
impact the individual that is smoking, it impacts everyone and everything around them. Smoking
cigarettes in public places should be banned. Individuals that smoke cigarettes in public places might
become a bad example for children. Many parents enjoy taking their children to the mall, park, and the
even the pool. However, when a parent takes their children to these places, the probability of them
spotting an individual smoking a cigarette is great. Young children might still have a challenging time
with knowing the difference between right and wrong. Therefore, when a young child sees an
individual smoking cigarettes while they are out in a public place, that child might perceive smoking
as something everyone ought to be doing. Also, when an individual is done with their cigarette, most
of the time, they throw it on the ground. A young child might see this and think that they can dispose
of their trash on the ground simply for the fact that they saw an older individual, that was smoking a
cigarette, do just that. Besides young children, teenagers might see an individual that is smoking and
think that it looks cool. If a teenager thinks

Essay On Bank Resolution
TRIGGERS FOR BANK RESOLUTION RECENT DEVELOPMENTS AND ROAD AHEAD
Chapter 1: Concepts and definitions
Bank resolution is an evolving concept that is at the threshold of complete definition.
While the term bank resolution is a relatively recently engineered concept, various references and
forms of it have developed over the last decade. The BCBS Supervisory Guidance on Dealing with
Weak Banks, 2002 refers in detail to the characteristics of a weak bank and the various methods of
dealing with them, including bank resolution. While this Guidance Paper refers to bank resolution as
restructuring or closure of a weak bank, the IMF paper on Managing Systemic Banking Crises, 2003,
refers to bank resolution as the intervention or takeover of insolvent or non viable institutions by the
authorities. Almost ten years later, after the experiences of the financial crisis, the definition of bank
resolution has narrowed down to the special arrangements for banks that are failing or likely to fail.
This more niche definition is utilized in post financial crisis context, since earlier intervention (i.e.
prior to the state of insolvency of a bank) is necessary to avoid greater systemic damage to the
financial system. Bank resolution has now evolved to a more specific intervention mechanism where
authorities identify problem banks before they become insolvent and take action to restore the bank to
viability to prevent financial instability.

INTRODUCTION
The aim of this research was to look at the discrimination towards teenagers from certain family
backgrounds, like stepfamilies, ethnic families and single parent families in council housing estates.
The aim is to look at the age range of 13 18 years, as these youngsters have a tendency to be criticised
more by society. With no thought that they are individuals with different morals and personalities.
There is a high level of petty crime, recreational drugs, truancy and teenage pregnancy in this range of
younger people. There is also a higher level of social exclusions for this age group. There is always a
tendency to lay blame on their circumstances and backgrounds. It is not necessarily true that if you
come from a less adequate background, that you are more likely to be an underachiever. If you give
someone self esteem then they can always do better. People assume that they can pass judgement on
someone else s life, which is labelling them as inadequate.
Like traditional stereotypes, the teenager has been given a distorted image by the modern media (Int,
2003). Both young people and older adults deserve more choices in where and how they spend their
time. Others should not dictate them, how and where. The need is more acceptable for this to happen

The Rise Of Mass Culture
Mass Culture in the United States: Technology and Time Off
Mass culture can be defined as the philosophy that is collective made by disclosure of similar news
sources, literature, music, art and commercial advertisements. The rise of mass culture is a
comparatively new existence. The culture occurrence is related to the rise of a leisure class triggered
by technological innovations. Similarly, the surplus in production brought about by the industrial
revolution and the time the average consumer had to dedicate to non work pursuits also attributed to
the rise of mass culture. Also, the trend resulted from the delineated work schedule favored by mass
production and labor laws that defined the limits of the production schedule, and created a new space
for workers and their families . Prior to the advent of mass culture, the elite defined high culture using
the proper forms of cultural expression. The elite used the control of the access to this culture to define
in group identification and signal cultural cues which were to be picked up and mimicked by the lower
classes. The monopoly on cultural expression changed with the advent of the mass production of
goods. These goods became affordable owing to the sheer scale of their manufacture and the necessity
to create awareness of the production surplus means of communication on a scale that had not
happened in human history. The rise of mass culture was also made possible by the sprawl of societies

Importance Of Friendship In Siddhartha
What makes someone a good friend? Do friends have to be together all the time to qualify as a good
friend? In the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, the answer to these questions can be found.
Siddhartha, an unhappy Brahmin, leaves his parents and village with his friend Govinda to find
enlightenment. Govinda and Siddhartha separate, but later in the novel when they see each other
again, Govinda is still there for Siddhartha. Later in life, a ferryman named Vasudeva helps Siddhartha
find enlightenment. Hermann Hesse suggests that for a true friendship to work people do not have to
be together all the time or lifelong friends, as Hesse shows through Govinda and Siddhartha, as well as
Siddhartha and his relationship with Vasudeva.
Even though Govinda decides to take a different path, he still plays an important role in Siddhartha s
journey in finding enlightenment. Hermann Hesse writes, You re Siddhartha, Govinda exclaimed
loudly. Now, I m recognizing you, and don t comprehend anymore how I couldn t recognize you right
away. Be welcome, Siddhartha, my joy is great, to see you again. After many years apart, Govinda and
Siddhartha meet again at the river. It is surprising that the men did not recognize each other even
though they had grown up together. Govinda did not know it was Siddhartha, but he still feels a sense
of familiarity and protection over the man. Siddhartha is the first to recognize his dear friend, and it
takes Govinda a while to realize it is Siddhartha who was sleeping by the river. They are happy to see
each other, and even though the meeting is short lived, the men talk about their current situations.
Many years later, Siddhartha and Govinda meet again. Hermann Hesse also writes, Govinda stayed
the night in the hut and slept in the bed that had once been Vasudeva s. He asked the friend of his
youth many questions and Siddhartha had a great deal to tell him about his life. When Govinda and
Siddhartha separate once again, there is an extended time where they have no contact. The men still
feel comfortable with each other and Siddhartha invites Govinda into his home. Siddhartha had no

Persuasive Essay On Breastfeeding
Women in this world have a right to bear children and take care of them. As a new parent, there are
millions of questions, worries, and decisions one deals with throughout the whole child s life. When a
child is first born, a mother has to decide whether or not to breastfeed or formula feed. The nutrition a
baby receives in the first months of life is what determines if the baby has a good or bad start. Women
should breastfeed their children because breastfeeding boosts chances of success for their child, allows
their baby to receive natural immunity from antibodies, mothers are less likely to develop diseases
such as cancers or diabetes, and breastfeeding stimulates oxytocin to promote bonding between
mother and child. Breastfeeding is the best choice for a baby.
The natural process of breastfeeding is the most beneficial for the baby and many studies have
concluded that breastfeeding boosts chances of success. In Brazil, a group of doctors took on a project
to see if there was a difference from a breastfed child and a formula fed one. These doctors randomly
picked out more than 3,000 babies and studied them from the time they were born until they turned
thirty years old (Breast Feeding). Once these babies reach thirty, they were given an IQ test that
concluded, the subjects who were breast fed for 12 months or more had a higher IQ than those who

Why Is Corporal Punishment Ineffective
Corporal Punishment Physical harm for actions deemed negative has been a part of human civilization
since the beginning of time. Corporal punishment is the act of inflicting physical pain onto another
because of their wrongdoing. It has been in the spotlight of intense scrutiny and defense since
psychology and the understanding of punishment in general has become more prevalent. It has been
used in almost all walks of human life. Schools, homes, jail, etc. have all used or still use corporal
punishment as a means of correcting a person s misbehavior. In this essay, I intend to defend both
sides with an objective perspective. Ultimately, though, I will show the reasoning for corporal
punishment being a barbaric, ineffective, and counterintuitive method of conditioning a person out of
negative behavior. To start, I will explain the basic violation of human rights with engaging in corporal
punishment. Corporal Punishment is a direct assault on the human dignity of the child and a direct
invasion of the child s physical integrity. (Anne Smith, 2011) A person has the rights to their own body
and their wellbeing as long as they are in a state of sanity. When an individual does something another
thinks is wrong it, in no way, warrants the assaulting of another individual. Unless, of course, the
individual is hurting another in a way physical violence is the only method of handling the issue. Why
does it not warrant it? If every human decided to physically assault every

Effects of Genetic Discrimination
The new advancements in genetics spark a new revolution in medicine. Genetic information not only
can help us better understand the diseases that plague us, but can also prevent diseases that could
potentially be harmful to us. However America s history of discrimination has taken over this new
revolution also. Despite our revolutionized and civilized culture, America still suffers the cruel grip of
evil that lies behind many legal documents and contracts. Genetic Discrimination is when people are
treated differently by their employer or insurance company because they have or are perceived to have
a gene mutation that causes or increases the risk of an inherited disorder. Although insurance
companies and many employers are looking out for their companies genetically discriminating against
clients or employees promotes the public s weariness about the revolutionized genetic tests and also
discourages further medical research.
Although science of genetics still has to be improved to able to accurately predict genetic conditions,
the information it provides can be a good indicator of future illnesses. This helps psychologically
prepare and receive genetic counseling (Amy) and prepare for any surgery that may be required to
prevent the disease. This new invention has opened up amazing possibilities and should be used in
order to better our health. The small group of people who aren t afraid of the possible consequences
believe that their life is worth more than the cost of

  • 3. Tati 3 Worlds Q1: What are the specificities of the three worlds displayed in the film? In the film, there were three worlds displayed all separate from each other but still holding the same image for something happening in France at the time. The new city showed signs of the advancing world the Tati had lived in during the 1950 s. In the 1950 s France was recovering from war efforts from WWII. The new world shows how France was rebuilding many structures and factories, and how these things were not in common of what the old world was. Many of the streets had also been in non contemporary grid styles. This various range of colors had to do with the idea that Tati was hinting that even though the new world has tons of different and new technologies, there was not as much culture within it. The old world had lively colors, showing how different the two worlds really were. In fact, Tati might have been showing how to new world is not all it s cracked up to be as compared to the old world. Tati was trying to show that people should just stick to the old world that had much more culture than the new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This theme, prevalent throughout Ron Rash s short story, The Ascent, is demonstrated through Jared, a young boy who is neglected by his parents. In the story, Jared escapes his miserable home life to a plane wreck he discovers while roaming the wilderness. Through the use of detached imagery and the emotional characterization of Jared as self isolating, Rash argues that escaping too far from reality can be very harmful to the stability of one s emotional being. The isolated and desolate imagery throughout effectively conveys Jared s extreme detachment from his surroundings. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While imagination is necessary in order to develop creativity and growth, too much escapism can blur one s perception between reality and make believe, and arguably more important, between right and wrong. After discovering a missing plane, most would report it to the authorities and not be in close proximity to dead people for hours on end. Instead, Jared uses the plane as a place to escape from the reality of his isolation, which is clearly a very disturbing and unethical action. Rash uses these images of isolation and character development to demonstrate that emotional instability is a potential danger of escapism. Furthermore, Rash describes the emotional characterization of Jared to demonstrate the negative effect self isolation can have on escapism. In the beginning of The Ascent, Jared is seen as an imaginative and innocent child, albeit a little lonely. However, the tone dramatically shifts when Jared discovers the plane wreck and sit[s] in the back seat [for] two hours, though [to him] it seem[s] only a few minutes (Rash 281). By finding comfort with dead people, it is clear that Jared is emotionally disturbed. He isolates himself from others by depending on his imagination to make up for his lack of company. As a young boy Elie s inquisitive mind directed him to the synagogue where he would study the Kabbalah s revelations and mysteries. Here is where Moishe the beadle, a friend to Elie, would sit with him in the synagogue and they would talk for hours about the intriguing secrets of Jewish mysticism. One important piece of advice that Moishe told Elie was, There are a thousand and one gates allowing entry into the orchard of the mystical truth. This simply meant he would need to pursue these answers on his own. However, Elie believed Moishe would help him bind his questions and answers as well, into one. These meetings were interrupted when Moishe was extracted from the Sighet where he experienced malice. He then returned to Sighet after being left for dead and managing to escape from the Gestapo. Moishe witnessed atrocious behavior that affected him profoundly. When he returned, he was not the same person, the vitality in his eyes had perished. He told everyone what he had seen, but no one would pay attention to his words. Even after hearing Moishe s words of warning they labeled him mad. • 10. Pierre Bourdieu Research Paper Framing the Debate: Bourdieu and Foucault Pierre Bourdieu has constructed his theory on the concept of practice using the metaphor of a game. He states that practice is a mode of generational meta theory of all forms of practices constituting the game (Bourdieu, 1977: 72). Individuals enter the game with predetermined interest and act in conformity to the rules of the game to achieve their desired goals. According to Bourdieu, the rules of the game are subject to changes based on different social conditions referred as fields (Bourdieu, 2000:183). Habitus, in turn, refers to the schematic concept through which practice is generated. Practices generate habitus and are shaped by the condition of life in a certain environment. Hence, specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bourdieu (2000:148) notes that habitus is the practical knowledge generated through its agent s history. Habitus is generated by human living experience at a certain environment where social relations are produced in interaction with a specific habitat. The special determination of habitus as a structural orientation is explained in relation to the idea of fields (Bourdieu, 1984). The field and habitus interact in a two dimensional relationship with the field structuring the habitus, and the habitus in its turn structuring the perception of the field (Bourdieu, 1988: 784). This shows that there has no direct influence on the field, but eventually, habitus operates in a dialectic relationship between structure and the agent. Bourdeau sees the field as a multi dimensional space of positions (Bourdieu 1985: 724) occupied agents who own power in alignment with, what he termed as, their symbolic capital that is identified in the context of the specific material environment (ibid: 731). This dialectic relation as noted by Bourdieu (2000:211) between habitus and the probabilities of a social space provides the space for practice and and thoughts. He points out, one should not say that a historical event determined a behavior but that it had this determining effect because a habitus capable of being affected by that event conferred that power upon it (Bourdieu ... • 11. Zebra Mussels In The Environment Essay Zebra mussels have the potential to cause a decline in ecosystem goods, and the benefits that reservoirs provide. Irrigation reservoirs artificially change the environment. This would cause larger amounts of distress in the community if the reservoirs did not provide benefits such as recreation, including fishing, as well as provide wildlife habitat (Adams Lee, 2010). Zebra mussels can render these reservoirs unusable for recreation because their sharp shells can cut the feet of users. Zebra mussels also clear the water due to their filter feeders, which can result in a decrease or change in fish populations, as well outcompete native mussel species. This clearing of the water can also result in algal blooms (Vanderploeg, et al., 2001). It would not be beneficial to irrigate land with water that has algal blooms because toxic bacteria may cause the algal blooms. This would be particularly detrimental when growing ... • 12. Love Song With Two Goldfish Essay As coined by the Father of His Country, It is far better to be alone, than to be in bad company. This is doubly appropriate as love is nothing more than a series of traumatic and disappointing events. Certain authors utilize their works to portray love from their perspective and/or experience. In Love Song, with Two Goldfish by Grace Chua, the author illustrates rejection in the most heartbreaking way possible. In the poem What Love Isn t by Yrsa Daley Ward, she depicts love as unbearable and somber rather than the joyful and wholesome experience consistently shown throughout pop culture. In the short story, Was It a Dream? by Guy de Maupassant, the narrator grieves the loss of his beloved only to have his feelings of woe amplified by betrayal. Through their illustrations, the authors show that love is an extraordinary experience that is often filled with pain, distrust, and despair. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact the very fact that through nearly a millennia they have refused to produce their constitution in a formal written structure reiterates that sentiment. And although the undercurrent of maintaining certain traditional and cultural norms remains strong, the national government has on frequent occasion had to accept the often frequent and ill fated changes within the local government. Throughout history the lion s share of these local changes have revolved around the relationship between the formerly autonomous countries of Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. But a comprehensive analysis of these complicated relationships requires a much more lengthy background. As a result this paper will attempt to analyze the proposition of transfer of power in greater part to the local government of Scotland within the context of the last decades of the 20th century into the first decade of the 21st. A modern approach to the increasing separation of Scotland and England can been seen beginning with the Labour Party during the 1970 s. The indecision and hesitation with respect to reform was epitomized in the bold and determined proposal of the 1974 Labour government decentralization and transfer of power for Wales and Scotland. The series includes a wide variety of magical realism, and how Henry continues to fight social norms to get what he wants. The idea of society vs. man and individualism takes a toll on Henry s pride by forcing him to jump from job to job or from flat to flat that ultimately puts him in disarray. Each book s analysis should be in its own category, but they have many identical ideas, themes, and characters that bring them together. The elements of magical realism in a historical series, at first sight seem quite suitable. It is generally agreed that the picaresque, with its humorous ideas on the social outcasts trying to endure an aggressive environment, is a sensible move against the romanticize tendency of the plot. Magic realism, with its limited interruption of mimetic rules, lends itself to a number of uses, postcolonial being one of them. It introduces elements of grotesque moments that allow the readers to sense the satirical potentials and it brings in metaphorical aspects to the plate. The aspects of magical realism seem to play with the readers mind. The convention of picaresque combined with magical realism builds a wider grotesque vision for the reader. The preamble states the beginning and the purpose of the country, the government being put into place, and how the government can be destroyed if necessary. The rather lengthy second part of the Declaration is filled with accusations of the King of Great Britain of the time. The actual declaration occurs in the third part of the document; in this part of the document, the states are declared free and independent where they hold the power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances... (10). Yet, the union itself can only do these three acts. The country s issue of determining where the states and the union s power ends and begins starts with the first document of the entire existence of the United States. McDonald brings up the interesting point concerning War of 1812 again dealing where the authority of the government and the states lie. Many did not agree with going to war in the beginning, and even the votes in the Senate and the House were pretty divided. Those in the New England states protested and refused to fight in the war. According to the Declaration of Independence, the states are sovereign; yet, when the War of 1812 was on the horizon and without the approval from Congress, Madison issued for one hundred thousand men in the militia to gather and fight for the United States against the British. The people of the New England were furious; even the governor of Massachusetts hindered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Protection of Extra High Voltage Transmission Line Using Distance Protection Introduction: Distance protection is the most widely used to protect transmission lines. The fundamental principle of distance relaying is based on the local measurement of voltages and currents, where the relay responds to the impedance between the relay terminal and the fault location [1]. There are many types of distance relay characteristic such as mho, reactance, admittance, quadrilateral polarized mho, offset mho etc. Every type of characteristics has different intended function and theories behind [2]. In order to understanding the function of relays, software relay models must be realized and feasible alternative to studying the performance of protective relays. Relay models have been long used in a variety of tasks, such as designing new relaying algorithms, optimizing relay settings. Electric power utilities use compute based relay models to confirm how the relay would perform during systems disturbances and normal operating conditions and to make the necessary corrective adjustment on the relay settings. [3][4]. One of the world wide recognized, powerful analysis software package, is a MATLAB/SIMULINK, which has the capability for modeling, simulating and analyzing dynamic systems using SimPowerSystems toolbox, in side Simulink package, different parts of a system such as three phase transformer, three phase load, distributed parameters line, circuit breaker, etc can ... • 35. Persuasive Essay On Smoking In Public Places Imagine, arriving home after a wondrous evening at a restaurant with family only to realize that everyone s clothes and hair smells like smoke. This happens all too often simply because people are allowed to smoke in public. Numerous individuals are addicted to smoking cigarettes and do not have any consideration for those around them when they make the decision to smoke. People that smoke cigarettes have made their choice to subject themselves to the many health risks that smoking can have on their body. However, many individuals have made the choice not to smoke cigarettes because they do not want to subject themselves to many of the health risks that smoking can have. Nevertheless, they are still required to deal with these things when others choose to smoke cigarettes in a public place. How is that just? Non smokers should not be forced to deal with all the issues that can arise from breathing in cigarette smoke or dealing with all their clothes smelling like smoke simply for the reason that someone chose to smoke in a public place. Smoking cigarettes does not only impact the individual that is smoking, it impacts everyone and everything around them. Smoking cigarettes in public places should be banned. Individuals that smoke cigarettes in public places might become a bad example for children. Many parents enjoy taking their children to the mall, park, and the even the pool. However, when a parent takes their children to these places, the probability of them spotting an individual smoking a cigarette is great. Young children might still have a challenging time with knowing the difference between right and wrong. Therefore, when a young child sees an individual smoking cigarettes while they are out in a public place, that child might perceive smoking as something everyone ought to be doing. Also, when an individual is done with their cigarette, most of the time, they throw it on the ground. A young child might see this and think that they can dispose of their trash on the ground simply for the fact that they saw an older individual, that was smoking a cigarette, do just that. Essay On Bank Resolution TRIGGERS FOR BANK RESOLUTION RECENT DEVELOPMENTS AND ROAD AHEAD Chapter 1: Concepts and definitions Bank resolution is an evolving concept that is at the threshold of complete definition. While the term bank resolution is a relatively recently engineered concept, various references and forms of it have developed over the last decade. The BCBS Supervisory Guidance on Dealing with Weak Banks, 2002 refers in detail to the characteristics of a weak bank and the various methods of dealing with them, including bank resolution. While this Guidance Paper refers to bank resolution as restructuring or closure of a weak bank, the IMF paper on Managing Systemic Banking Crises, 2003, refers to bank resolution as the intervention or takeover of insolvent or non viable institutions by the authorities. Almost ten years later, after the experiences of the financial crisis, the definition of bank resolution has narrowed down to the special arrangements for banks that are failing or likely to fail. This more niche definition is utilized in post financial crisis context, since earlier intervention (i.e. prior to the state of insolvency of a bank) is necessary to avoid greater systemic damage to the financial system. Bank resolution has now evolved to a more specific intervention mechanism where authorities identify problem banks before they become insolvent and take action to restore the bank to viability to prevent financial instability. INTRODUCTION The aim of this research was to look at the discrimination towards teenagers from certain family backgrounds, like stepfamilies, ethnic families and single parent families in council housing estates. The aim is to look at the age range of 13 18 years, as these youngsters have a tendency to be criticised more by society. With no thought that they are individuals with different morals and personalities. There is a high level of petty crime, recreational drugs, truancy and teenage pregnancy in this range of younger people. There is also a higher level of social exclusions for this age group. There is always a tendency to lay blame on their circumstances and backgrounds. It is not necessarily true that if you come from a less adequate background, that you are more likely to be an underachiever. If you give someone self esteem then they can always do better. People assume that they can pass judgement on someone else s life, which is labelling them as inadequate. Like traditional stereotypes, the teenager has been given a distorted image by the modern media (Int, 2003). Both young people and older adults deserve more choices in where and how they spend their time. Others should not dictate them, how and where. • 40. Importance Of Friendship In Siddhartha What makes someone a good friend? Do friends have to be together all the time to qualify as a good friend? In the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, the answer to these questions can be found. Siddhartha, an unhappy Brahmin, leaves his parents and village with his friend Govinda to find enlightenment. Govinda and Siddhartha separate, but later in the novel when they see each other again, Govinda is still there for Siddhartha. Later in life, a ferryman named Vasudeva helps Siddhartha find enlightenment. Hermann Hesse suggests that for a true friendship to work people do not have to be together all the time or lifelong friends, as Hesse shows through Govinda and Siddhartha, as well as Siddhartha and his relationship with Vasudeva. Even though Govinda decides to take a different path, he still plays an important role in Siddhartha s journey in finding enlightenment. Hermann Hesse writes, You re Siddhartha, Govinda exclaimed loudly. Now, I m recognizing you, and don t comprehend anymore how I couldn t recognize you right away. Be welcome, Siddhartha, my joy is great, to see you again. After many years apart, Govinda and Siddhartha meet again at the river. It is surprising that the men did not recognize each other even though they had grown up together. Govinda did not know it was Siddhartha, but he still feels a sense of familiarity and protection over the man. Siddhartha is the first to recognize his dear friend, and it takes Govinda a while to realize it is Siddhartha who was sleeping by the river. They are happy to see each other, and even though the meeting is short lived, the men talk about their current situations. Many years later, Siddhartha and Govinda meet again. Hermann Hesse also writes, Govinda stayed the night in the hut and slept in the bed that had once been Vasudeva s. He asked the friend of his youth many questions and Siddhartha had a great deal to tell him about his life. When Govinda and Siddhartha separate once again, there is an extended time where they have no contact. The men still feel comfortable with each other and Siddhartha invites Govinda into his home. • 41. Persuasive Essay On Breastfeeding Women in this world have a right to bear children and take care of them. As a new parent, there are millions of questions, worries, and decisions one deals with throughout the whole child s life. When a child is first born, a mother has to decide whether or not to breastfeed or formula feed. The nutrition a baby receives in the first months of life is what determines if the baby has a good or bad start. Women should breastfeed their children because breastfeeding boosts chances of success for their child, allows their baby to receive natural immunity from antibodies, mothers are less likely to develop diseases such as cancers or diabetes, and breastfeeding stimulates oxytocin to promote bonding between mother and child. Breastfeeding is the best choice for a baby. The natural process of breastfeeding is the most beneficial for the baby and many studies have concluded that breastfeeding boosts chances of success. In Brazil, a group of doctors took on a project to see if there was a difference from a breastfed child and a formula fed one. These doctors randomly picked out more than 3,000 babies and studied them from the time they were born until they turned thirty years old (Breast Feeding). Once these babies reach thirty, they were given an IQ test that concluded, the subjects who were breast fed for 12 months or more had a higher IQ than those who were breast fed for less than one month. Corporal punishment is the act of inflicting physical pain onto another because of their wrongdoing. It has been in the spotlight of intense scrutiny and defense since psychology and the understanding of punishment in general has become more prevalent. It has been used in almost all walks of human life. Schools, homes, jail, etc. have all used or still use corporal punishment as a means of correcting a person s misbehavior. In this essay, I intend to defend both sides with an objective perspective. Ultimately, though, I will show the reasoning for corporal punishment being a barbaric, ineffective, and counterintuitive method of conditioning a person out of negative behavior. To start, I will explain the basic violation of human rights with engaging in corporal punishment. Corporal Punishment is a direct assault on the human dignity of the child and a direct invasion of the child s physical integrity. (Anne Smith, 2011) A person has the rights to their own body and their wellbeing as long as they are in a state of sanity. When an individual does something another thinks is wrong it, in no way, warrants the assaulting of another individual. Unless, of course, the individual is hurting another in a way physical violence is the only method of handling the issue. Why does it not warrant it?
