Why Did Calypso Let Odysseus Leave
Calypso was the woman who saved Odysseus she kept him in her island for seven years she
made him his lover, but he never felt the same way about her he always would think about the
day that he would go home to his wife and son. The only reason that Calypso let Odysseus leave
was because Zeus he sent the messenger of the gods to tell her to let Odysseusgo home to his people
and wife. Calypso was fearful of zeus power at the same time she was angry that she has to let go of
Odysseus since she was the one who saved his life Calypso said to Hermes that Gods are jealous of
her happiness, but she still helped Odysseus to build a boat and gave him food for his journey.
Before Calypso let Odysseus leave she asked him if he really wants to leave she was willing to give

Embrace What the World has Given to You
EMBRACE THE WORLD GIVEN TO YOU
So I walk into the Hyderabad Airport with so many things running in my mind. Even though this is
not my first time to New York, this moment I m coming to live here rather than visiting for a quick
holiday. But within a few weeks I realized the most important thing about moving to a completely
different environment you don t need to change yourself. All you need to alter is your perception.
My parents were more apprehensive than me. They believed that their son would return a much
fairer, different, open and heavily accented individual. They had seen such stories multiple times on
the television screen, and heard of it from other people, but never imagines it might happen to them
as well. Irrespective of their presumptions, I ended up encountering many new places and
experiences in just 6 months into this country. In this short span, I saw a tennis grand slam final,
surfed, skied, gambled and even flew a plane for the first time visiting 6 main US cities across the
country.
Unlike what I saw in all Hollywood movies, New York Citywasn t just about tall skyscrapers, busy
subways and glittering downtown. Having spent my entire life in the brutal heat of Hyderabad,
Vijayawada and Coimbatore, I was entering a climate that was chillingly different. It was hard to
imagine not being able to wear shorts and slippers and walk about without jackets or coats on a
daily basis. It s important to embrace the environment you enter, so you and it can maintain

The Most Comprehensive Global Route Network
The combined United Continental Holdings competes on the basis of having what it terms the most
comprehensive global route network , modern planes, and an industry leading loyalty program
(UnitedContinentalHoldings.com, 2012). The merger between two struggling airlines was
announced in 2010, and the United brand is going to be the one that is most prominent going
forward. There have recently been some minor implementation problems in unwinding the
Continental name (Martin, 2012).
While it is difficult, to some extent, to evaluate the success of a merger that is only just now
entering its final implementation phases, it is known that the objective of that merger was to use
the larger route network to attract more business, and that the combined airline would also extract
cost savings as the result of increased operational efficiency. The airline had struggled in 2009,
with its sales declining, but it recovered in 2010 and 2011. Sales last year were $33.678 billion,
up from $21.068 billion the year before. In the past two years, the company has turned a profit,
going from $253 million in net income in FY2010 to $840 million in net income in FY2011. Some
of this improvement may stem from the impact of the merger. However, the airline industry is
highly cyclical, and the past two years have represented economic improvement. Likewise, the
losses the company faced in FY2008 and FY2009 were as much the result of the economic
downturn as they were internal business factors.

OKUNOWO AT THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ILARO, OGUN STATE TODAY
WEDNESDAY 18TH MAY 2011. Chairman of today s occasion, All academia present,
Distinguished old boys, Ladies and gentlemen. 1 Today is indeed a remarkable day. I therefore
count it as a great honour to be among you to share some wisdom together. I thank the executive
of the club for putting up this kind of forum. This is highly commendable and I salute your
outstanding leadership! I also greet my audience with great humility, for while some are on their
bed sleeping off destiny, you have rather chose to search for knowledge. It takes few men to rule
the world, and the few I believe, constitutes this audience. 2 The topic before me simply states;
The Role of Discipline in Destiny Fulfillment. It is such a very interesting subject matter.
Whosoever may have thought of it has done quite a very good job. Many people dream about
fulfillment, but only few see it, for while they are still on the road to destiny, many young girls
become young mothers and young boys take to drug and other dangerous habits. And as we
together dissect the topic, I beseech you all to demonstrate the first discipline, by listening with
open minds. 3 Before I begin to analyse all my analytical analysis, we may need to define some
terms and terminologies for us to have a proper comprehension. Discipline is defined as a method

Theories Of Knowledge And Psychological Applications Essay
Theories of Knowledge and Psychological Applications
How individuals are able to obtain knowledge is something that psychologists have studied for a
number of years. The ability to store and retrieve knowledge provides individuals with the
propensity to form logical thought, express emotions and internalize the world around them. In
order for a psychologist to understand the theories of knowledge it is necessary to investigate the
aspects of the theories. In this paper we examine the history , the basic construct, the similarities of
the theories and how those theories relate to psychological therapies. History of the theories

Many new theorists would enter the field of neural network models, but it was the work of
Rumelhart, Hinton, and McClelland that would simplify the way we would view such models
(Arbib, 1995). It was in 1986 that Rumelhart, Hinton, and McClelland developed their network
model. It was and still is regarded as one of the most notable network theories. This is true because
they structured their theory in a clear, concise, and intelligible manner (Martindale ,1991).
Neural network models have evolved during the past sixty years. The initial theories were
extremely difficult to comprehend and they were not interchangeable with a broad range of topics.
Today s theories are simpler to understand because they are less complex. The theories are capable
of encompassing numerous topics.
The dual coding approach is one that believes that knowledge is a series of complex associative
networks. Within these networks we find imaginal and verbal representations. These verbal and
nonverbal representations are means that facilitate the retrieval and storage of knowledge (Paivio,
1986).
The individual who was at the fore front of the development of the dual coding theory was Allan
Paivio. He did research in the area of verbal and nonverbal representations during the 1960 s.

Essay On Pet Peeves
Everyone has a pet peeve no matter how weird it can possibly be. Someone could have a pet
peeve of dirty dishes or people who wear beanies. Maybe even of country music. No matter what
people dislike, I m sure some people will be able to accept it and eventually deal with it.
However, the Earth doesn t revolve around those people, so they too need to get over their
ridiculous peeves and just deal with it. I have pet peeves I guess I should get over, but maybe
people should also take heed to them and be aware that I dislike what bothers me. As in, I can t
stand it when people correct me, or don t listen to me, and just say awful things about what I truly
love and am passionate about. I feel that I m a hypocrite for correcting people who get things

Personal Narrative On Marking Time
Philecia Rankin
Writing Exercise #1
Marking Time Leaving for basic training was the most nerve racking thing I have ever been
through. I already knew about the physical and emotional difficulties I would encounter going off
to boot camp, but there was one thing that no one really informed me about that worried me, the
food. Everyone I spoke to had their own stories about what I would or would not be eating, but no
two stories seemed to add up. Needless to say, walking into that dining hall I expected to see, or at
least smell, manure on a plate. However, to my pleasant surprise, all of the different but amazing
aromas in there gave me joy. When I actually saw what was on the menu, my day got that much
better. In basic training those were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For breakfast there were eggs, bacon, sausage waffles and so many more delicious options. My
personal favorite was the cinnamon sticks dipped in warm maple syrup, although there wasn t
much time to eat them, I savored every bite. As my day went, on because of all the training
going on, I had no idea when we would finish or how much time we had left. Until I heard chow
time , words that made me smile because not only do we get a break, but I knew that we only
had half of the day left. For lunch the dining hall served hot wings with white rice along with
your choice of sides at the salad bar. The thing that made lunch extra special was the fact that we
could have cookies. It may not seem like much now, but at that time it was the only real sweets
most of us had in weeks. Although I tried not to show it, inside I was grinning from ear to ear.
Then finally, there was dinner. Dinner meant that the day was finished. There was no more
training or exercising and I would be able to go to bed soon. For dinner, pizza. That alone was the
perfect satisfaction for me after an extremely long day and it was enough to hold me over until

Differences Between Philip II And Elizabeth I
Philip II and Elizabeth I are two of the most important figures during the 16th century. Philip had
an easier path to his reign because of his father and this gave him the power to enforce his will
among his subjects and resistance came along. Elizabeth s upbringing to the throne was more
difficult than Philips and it led her to develop stronger ambitions and values with her subjects.
Both figures were similar as they had passive aggressive attitudes towards their military strategies
because different implications of the times leading up to the Armada forced Philip and Elizabeth
to make tough decisions. Primary sources of Philip and Elizabeth will be presented in this paper to

This was because Elizabeth tried to shift the responsibility onto the signatories of the Bond of
Association, presumably on the grounds that they had declared their own right to carry out the
death sentence against any person found guilty. Elizabeth wanted to push aside her
responsibility for the death of Mary to someone else, so Spain would understand and maybe not
invade England. This showed that Elizabeth s strategies during her reign were passive, although,
she still proved to be a leader who would protect her country from the Spanish by assembling a
powerful naval fleet. Elizabeth showed leadership qualities to her people and they looked up to
her and that is why she was a wiser leader to her subjects than Philip. Philip showed passive
aggressiveness during the Spanish Armada preparation because he was indecisive with his
strategies. He would do his business at the San Lorenzo de Escorial in a secret office. Philip did
not want to pursue the war, but he felt that it was inevitable. He was not sure what strategies
would work. He would follow advice from fellow leaders, but he was indecisive on what land or
naval strategies to use. He knew that the English had a powerful naval base, so this made his
decision

Personal Protective Equipment Essay
Many work environments depend on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep
workers safe. Although healthcare environments may be the first industry that comes to mind,
people who work with hazardous chemicals, dangerous machinery or equipment, and others all
require specific articles of PPE to stay safe.
Keeping PPE on hand and in excellent condition, however, is only a portion of the safety protocol.
Using and removing equipment correctly, at the right place and at the right time, is also required to
minimize the risk of employee injury or contamination.
Different types of PPE are designed to offer employees different types of protection. Those who
work with machinery are likely to require gloves as well as eye and ear protection at a minimum.
Those who work in healthcare environments may require anything from a basic respirator and
gloves to full ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies have confirmed the need for improvement in training procedures to help employees learn
how to adequately protect themselves. When full protective equipment is required, all parts of the
body must be completely shielded due to the risk of exposure to infected blood or bodily fluids.
Training employees to follow specific guidelines, such as the following for healthcare facilities, will
help to minimize the risk of contamination:
Studies verify that when workers are taught how to properly remove their PPE at an appropriate
time and place, positive changes tend to quickly become habits. Workers naturally want to protect
themselves but often need instruction on how to achieve that goal.
Once you have determined which types of PPE are needed and have provided your employees the
proper training to correctly use them, maintaining that usage over time will be the mark for true
success. PPE itself will need maintenance and replacement and the workers involved will require
periodic bouts of refreshment in safety

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Aluminium
Aluminium, 13th element in periodic table is a silvery white metal. Aluminium is one of the most
widespread metal in the earth s crust, constituting more than 8% of earth s core mass. Aluminum is
one of the world s most abundant metals and after oxygen and silicon, aluminium is the third most
common element present on earth.
Aluminium alloys which are widely used across the globe can be produced in two different ways:
1.Primary alloys are produced from pure molten aluminium which are melted along with addition
elements to achieve desired properties.
2.Secondary alloys are produced from aluminium material scraps. These scraps are low cost in
nature. These scraps are re melted and are re classifying after adjustment for main elements to

Predation Vs Parasitism
In the comparison of the types of two species interactions, Predation and Parasitism are the most
similar by far, since both of them have a +/ interaction pattern, where one part benefits and one
is taken from. Examples of Predation would be a fox hunting a rabbit, as the fox benefits by
gaining food and the rabbit is disadvantaged by dying, or being seriously/ fatally injured; another
example would be a cheetah hunting an antelope in the same respects of the fox and the rabbit.
Good examples of Parasitism, would be bacterias in an organism, or a mosquitodrawing bloodfrom
an animal. With bacteria, it benefits by taking the resources that the host organism needs, as the host
doesn t benefit by their resources being used by the bacteria. In

Feminism And First Wave Feminism
Feminism is defined by Bell Hooks as a movement and ideology intended to end sexist oppression.
The recession and intensification is classified as occurring in waves, and this characterization
parallels the wave feminist movements tend to crash over society. For the scope of this paper, the
focus will be centered on American feminismand the conditions associated with and imposed upon
the participants. Although the first wave of feminism was considered complete with the granting of
women s suffrage, feminism has evolved with the times to encapsulate the issues facing the women
of the time. While the fundamental premise of each feminist wave is the desire to overcome sexist
oppression and gender based inequalities, intergenerational conflicts exist between the new and old
feminists. Feminism is plagued by opposing values as opponents believe it is too extreme, yet
advocates believe it is not extreme enough. The internal and external strife leads to an aversion
among the younger generation when assuming the identity. These conflicts are counterproductive
to the renunciation of misogyny as they divide the movement meant to unify women. Deborah
Siegel s Sisterhood, Interrupted: From Radical Women to Grrls Gone Wild examines the chasms
present in the intergenerational debate of feminism as they defined the feminist movement. Second
wave feminism was focused on broadening the debate presented by first wave feminist. While first
wave feminists sought to overcome legal

Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis Essay
Did humankind prevent the start of an ice age during the Holocene? Discuss arguments for and
against the Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis.
The Holocene Epoch is the timescale given to the last 11,700 years of earth s history, beginning
at the end of the last ice age. (BD Smith et al, 2013) Therefore it can be noted as being a
relatively warm period in history in comparison to other scales of time from the past. The Early
Anthropogenic Hypothesis is an idea put forward by Professor William F Ruddiman from the
University of Virginia which states that the effects of human induced greenhouse gasemissions did
not occur simply since the industrial era, but may well have been kick started many thousands of
years before this, closer to the start of the Holocene. By which may have prevented the start of an
ice age during this timescale. However there are many views ... Show more content on

This coincides with Ruddiman s belief of CO2 levels increasing due to human activity. There is
a clear pattern between the rise in industrial activity and the rise in CO2 levels. Since the
industrial revolution (1750 1900) there was a rapid rise in levels of CO2 being created and
emitted into the atmosphere. As a consequence, this saw a rise in the CO2 levels from 270ppm to
roughly 310ppm by the 1950 s, which increased again in the following 30 years by 70ppm, after
the initiation of the Great Acceleration of industry (W Steffen et al, 2007). Non coincidentally the
Little Ice Age which occurred during the Holocene ended at around 1800, shortly after the
beginning of the Industrial revolution. (Richard Prentice) This shows a clear correlation between
the increase of CO2 levels and human activity. Although this is most certainly in more recent times,
it still provides clear evidence to suggest that Ruddiman was correct in his belief that human
activity causes CO2 rise and therefore has the potential to prevent the start of an ice

When Eric Maria Remarque released All Quiet on the Western Front, he was shunned by
Germany as being unpatriotic. This didn t stop Remarque from releasing his second book The
Road Back but it did lead to him fleeing Germany, his sister being beheaded and his books being

Challenge To Royal Policies And Authority In Early Stuart...
The trend of challenge to Royal policies and authority in Early Stuart England (1603 49) was
significant because it resulted in Civil War and the overthrow of monarchical government.
This trend was influenced by political, social and economic forces. The political forces were mainly
over the debate between absolutism and constitutionalism. Social forces involved a conflict within
the Church of England between Arminianism/Laudianism and Puritanism. Underlying the political
and social forces were economic forces which have been subject to considerable debate among
historians.
Elizabeth died in 1603 and she was succeeded by her Protestant relative, King James VI of
Scotland. Though her reign had seen problems over religion, the 1559 Religious Settlement
remained intact and England had become more influenced on the world scene. English had become
the leading Protestant power in Europe.
James I became the King of England in 1603. He was determined to rule England wisely and he
had successfully ruled the troublesome Scots where many others had failed in the past. However,
he increased financial problems and difficulties in managing parliament. Even though James I
misunderstood some aspects of the governing of his reign and kept England at peace until 1624. In

The Deployment Of Economic Sanctions On The International...
The deployment of economic sanctions on the international stage by states to influence the behavior
of other states has become the norm in International Relations. Despite the increase in popularity of
this practice over the course of the past century, the question of its efficiency is one that is still
debated and remains unanswered. The idea that putting economic pressures on a countryto illicit a
certain behavior or change in behavior from that country works in theory, but in practice, it is more
complicated and does not necessarily work the way that theory suggests it should. Some economists
and policy analysts have taken the approach of deconstructing the subject in order to consider what
variable may or may not affect the efficiency... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Positive sanctions are meant to foster relations between countries. Negative sanctions are intended
to cause another country economic harm. The debate around economic sanctions typically focuses
on the negative kind. Sanctions can be unilateral from one sender country to one target country or
multilateral from multiple countries. Multilateral sanctions can be orchestrated by one main
country supported by other countries, or they can be sent under the auspices of an international
organization. Raul Caruso distinguishes three different kinds of negative sanctions boycotts,
embargoes, and
Kassim 3 financial sanctions. A boycott is the restriction of imports from the targetcountry;
embargoes are restrictions on exports to the target country; financial sanctions are restrictions on
investment in the target country (Caruso Should We Set 23). Kaempfer and Lowenberg posit
that economic sanctions can be proposed for the following three reasons: in response to a nation
that threatens the wealth or security of the sender nation; to achieve moral or ideological goals;
as a part of trade policy and commercial relations i.e. in response to tariffs or quotas (Kaempfer
2). The question of whether or not sanctions are efficient is a difficult one to answer. A major
contributing factor to this difficulty is the lack of a universal standard for gauging success.
Analysts create the criteria by which to judge success, and these criteria are not accepted by

Risks Associated With The Outsourcing Of It Functions
An analysis of the outcomes of the outsourcing of IT functions reveals that there are several
challenges facing organizations who are contemplating or have already outsourced IT business
functions.
Through my research on the topic of IT outsourcing I have determined that there are many different
types of risks associated with the outsourcing of IT functions to a third party company that can
equal or exceed the benefits if certain considerations are not taken into account. Risks of
outsourcing IT functions can include strategy risks, selection risks, implementation risks and
management risks. The outsourcing of IT functions to a 3rd party can be beneficial to a company
as it allows that company a means to reduce expenses, focus on its core competencies and free up
resources to drive business growth. But ultimately, if the who, what, when, where, why and how are
not determined up front and written into a flexible contractual agreement, and the relationship
between both parties is not a partnership the venture is destine to fail. Let s examine in depth the
various types of risks associated with the outsourcing of IT functions to a 3rd party vendor.
Strategy Risks One of the biggest strategy risks associated with outsourcing is determining the
proper scope of the IT business processes which should be outsourced. Organizations should look to
outsource non cost effective and undesirable business functions but need to make sure that the
function which is being outsourced is not

My Favorite Sermon
It is fair enough to say that I got an early Christmas present this year as my favorite preacher, Tim
Delina, came to church to minister this past Sunday. I found it funny because just this past
week, I was asking myself where he has been. I ve listened to so many preachers preach, and no
one comes close to Pastor Tim in the way he explains his messages. His sermons, inspired by
God, is able to change the hardened of hearts. Never have I seen a preacher use humor to connect
with his audience as Pastor Tim does. Look up his sermons on YouTube, you won t be
disappointed. I ll attach my favorite sermon of his (JONAH HAS TOO MANY CHAPTERS) at
the end of this post. I blogged about this sermon some weeks back, but it s worth listening to.
When God wants to speak to you, He uses different means to do so. In my case, He used Tim
Delina to minister to me. Two weeks ago, an elder at church ministered on tithing, but I didn t
feel the sermon was meant for me. Pastor Tim then came last week and ministered on that same
subject...again! I believe God said to Himself Joseph if you didn t think that last sermon was
meant for you, maybe if I send you your favorite preacher, you ll then believe it is for you. As he
spoke on this topic, I began to think about my level of tithing or the lack of it. (I ll post a link to
Pastor Tim s sermon on tithing at the end of this post) For some of us, we think we are entitled to
everything we own, but we need to stop and ask ourselves who gives us the

What is Impression Formation
Introduction Impression formation is an idea formed without consciousness based on little
evidence to evaluate a judgement. The process of forming impression is determined through
verbal communication, non verbal communication and paralinguistic cues. Verbal
communication is the content of what a person says. Non verbal communication is the way we
present ourselves without using spoken language while paralanguage is the way we talk other
than spoken words. This research conducted was experimental. This is because there are two
variables identified in this research which are independent variable (IV) and dependent variable
(DV). The IV was the duration of time while the DV was the result of the First Impression Scale
(FIS).The research question is Are the results of the First Impression Scale affected by the time a
person is exposed to the presenter? .Thus, the objective of this research is to find out whether the
time a person is exposed to the video will affect the person s impression on the presenter. This
information could be important to determine how long an advertisement or a show should last to
create a good impression among the audience. The research hypothesis is the longer a person is
exposed to the video, the better the impression formed. The sample sizeof this research is small
which is 38 psychology students in SAM program of Taylor s College Subang Jaya. Participants
were assigned randomly into two groups, Group 1 and Group 2, to watch a short video for

Honey Bees Persuasive Speech
Once upon a time there was a bee. The bees name is Bob. His mom was teaching him how to
pollinate. As he flew from flower to flower a bird flew by. He asked his mom if other animals
pollinate. Yes, they do. His mom said. Why do us bees have ultraviolet vision? he asked. So we

Hi Today I m here to talk to you about... Bees! Not just bees but also Flower color and Nectar

They make honey from nectar. When they fly to get nectar from a flower, they get pollen on their
bodies, so when they fly to another flower they pollinate! пЃЉ Some people keep bees as pets!
(Not actually, they keep them to make honey!) Bees are soaring insects. Bees have six legs and
four wings. Bees make honey and beeswax. There is a great deal of bees that are found in most of
the world.
Flower Color
Bees love flowers that are white, yellow, orange, blue, pink, and all the colors in between. Bees
cannot make out the color red though! Bees only fly to flowers that are red if they smell beautiful.
The flower color depends on the pollinator. Bees attracted to blur and violet colors. Hummingbirds

Nectar Guides
Some flowers have obvious Nectar guides. For some flowers only bees and certain insects can
spot the nectar guides. They can study them through ultraviolet vision. Some flowers have patterns

The Dangers of Shirking Responsibility in Arthur Miller s All My Sons
Arthur Miller s All My Sons is a well made play in every sense of that term. It not only is
carefully and logically constructed, but addresses its themes fully and effectively. The play
communicates different ideas on war, materialism, family, and honesty. However, the main focus,
especially at the play s climax, is the issue of personal responsibility. In particular, Miller
demonstrates the dangers of shirking responsibility and, then, ascribing blame to others.
Nearly every character in All My Sons, in one way or another, fails to take responsibility. The
Keller family, as a whole, is severely dysfunctional in that they keep secrets and ... Show more

The ramifications of his action is that not only did young men die in the war but his friend and
business partner, Steve, was sent to prison for the crime.
Meanwhile, Joe continues to live as a free, but possibly haunted, man. There is great irony in his
speech about his return home from jail:
The story was, I pulled a fast one getting myself exonerated. So I get out of my car, and I walk
down the street. But very slow. And with a smile. The beast!. I was the beast; the guy who sold
cracked cylinder heads to the Army Air Force; the guy who made twenty one P 40 s crash in
Australia. (628)
His cool words of innocence seem to belie the fear of being found out and the continual struggle to
convince himself that he really is not guilty. He does, as the saying goes, protest too much. The
truth, when revealed at the end, really is more than he can live with. When others recognize what
he has known in his heart all along, Joe kills himself.
As mentioned above, All My Sons is not just about the failure to be responsible; it is about
blaming others for one s own wrongs, that includes giving responsibility to another for one s own
life. This, too, is a facet of almost every character s personality. While Joe, again, is the major
character to give blame, others do as well.
Steve s children, George and Ann, place much responsibility for their own actions on Chris. George
says he only believed everything,

At the age of fifteen, my mother had just finished cooking dinner when I noticed her slurred
speech and incoherent sentences. Flustered by the sequence of events, I dialed 911 for help. On
the way to the hospital, I recall one of the EMS personnel shakily exclaim: her blood glucose is

Whitman And Ralph Waldo Emerson
When talking about Ralph Waldo Emerson and Walt Whitman a similar question of What came first
the chicken or the egg? comes to mind. Scholars may argue that without Emerson and his
influential sermons and speeches that Walt Whitman would have never found his voice, but how
can someone who so many consider one of the greatest poets of all time cease to exist? Ralph
Waldo Emersonknew what he was doing when he published The Poet. It was an outcry for the
American people to speak a truthful narrative about the human experience, warts and all. Ralph
Waldo Emerson was an influential author and speaker, so when he wrote The Poet, Walt Whitman
emerged and fulfilled his expectations after some hesitation from Emerson. Both authors paved
the way for countless other writers and played a huge role in American culture and literature.
While both authors have their respected writing styles, Walt Whitman found his voice through
Emerson s influence and responded to his call for American poets to step forth and show the
world a new era of poetry and literature. Emerson had a specific idea of what poetry should be and
although Whitman answered the call, he went in a different direction with his works and writing
style. Poetry in light of European tradition was measured and fit strict guidelines. It had strong
religious roots and it was more formal than the types of poetry we think of by today s standards
and even Emerson s standards. European literature was heavily influenced by

Perfume Satire
Patrick SГјskind s Perfume is set against the background of a transforming French society in the
late 18th century as it moves away from conservatism bolstered through adherence to traditional
ideals towards an age of reason driven by Enlightenment principles. SГјskind, from the German
perspective, vividly demonstrates the change through Jean Baptiste Grenouille s experiences with
the marquis de La Taillade Espinasse. In doing so, SГјskind highlights the flaws of scientific
progress and its artificial nature. In his novel, Perfume, SГјskind employs satire to criticize the
Enlightenment in French society through deceptions justified by pseudoscience, a group of beliefs
and practices lacking true scientific basis.

SГјskind parallels the death of the marquis to the deaths of other characters that also interacted with
Grenouille, such as Grimal or Baldini, by highlighting the death s occurrence following Grenouille s
departure (SГјskind 161). Through the incorporation of parallelism, SГјskind compares the death of
the marquis to the deaths of other characters to emphasize that corruption does not only exist in
scientific work, but also within the rest of French society. SГјskind illustrates that the marquis
greed for power and influence drives him to take irrational actions that leads to his demise.
Furthermore, SГјskind describes that although the marquis vanished, his teachings suffered no
damage at all and carried a long lasting impact (Suskind 162). SГјskind channels his German
perspective towards the Enlightenment in France by reinforcing that science should hold greater
value than fame or greed. Thus, SГјskind satirizes the Enlightenment in French society by indirectly
admonishing the lack of genuine scientific curiosity and its replacement with fame or power during
the growth of scientific progress in France. Similarly, during the Counter Enlightenment, German
philosopher Immanuel Kant sought to counter French superficiality and lightmindedness with

Genome editing of germ line cells using CRISPR/Cas9 system
Recent studies suggest that genome editing of germ line cells is an effective strategy for mutated

mutation of HBB (Beta globin) gene in zygote of ОІ thalassemia patients by homologous DNA

Essay on The Significance of Art in Chopin s The Awakening
Edna seeks occupational freedom in art, but lacks sufficient courage to become a true artist. As
Edna awakens to her selfhood and sensuality, she also awakens to art. Originally, Edna dabbled
with sketching in an unprofessional way (Chopin 543). She could only imitate, although poorly
(Dyer 89). She attempts to sketch AdГЁle Ratignolle, but the picture bore no resemblance to its
subject. After her awakening experience in Grand Isle, Edna begins to view her art as an

Music was a means of brightening the home and making it attractive (Chopin 553). Madame
Ratignolle uses her talent to serve others. At an evening at Grand Isle, she played the piano in
order that everyone would be able to dance. Edna s artistic pursuits are very different than
Madame Ratignolle s. Edna s art represents her quest for individuality (Boren 181). Her form of
art does not provide pleasure or enrichment to her household. Instead, it takes her away from her
family and her domestic duties (Dyer 87). Edna paints in her atelier (Chopin 579). Mr. Pontellier
chides Edna for spending too much time in her atelier; he says that she would be better
employed contriving for the comfort of her family (Chopin (579). Edna makes good progress in
her painting; she dreams of becoming an artist (Chopin 584). However, her devotion to art is
contrasted to that of novel s true artist. Mademoiselle Reisz understood what it means to be an
artist. She was an artist at the piano (Chopin 554). Mademoiselle Reisz was isolated from
society. She lived alone with practically no friends, except Robert and Edna. Her proprietor
described her as the most disagreeable and unpopular woman (Chopin 580). Mademoiselle Reisz

Penalizing The Federal Budget Pros And Cons
The federal budget is in crisis and the national debt is growing by the second. In an effort to
stabilize the budget, I propose to cut spending in the areas of reducing troops in Afghanistan,
healthcare, tax expenditures, and social security amongst others. While the premise behind helping
others in our nation and abroad is an honorable idea, we need to find ways to do this while
incentivizing people who work hard, rather than penalizing them. According to the New York
Times, troops in Afghanistan are still heavily reliant on their American counterparts for training,
technological resources and intelligence (Mazetti Shear). While it may be necessary for American
troops to be present in an effort to gain intelligence and stabilize activity in the area, we are not
there to build their nation. America needs to reduce the number of troops in harms way and reduce

Assignment 2: System Security As we evolve through time the technology evolves with us. With
our accomplishment in technology we reached beyond our imagination, some things which our
ancestors would only dream on having. But while the technology can be used for good deeds
some want to take advantage of it and gain personal profits. So, countermeasures were created for
defending against them. The system security is a defence mechanism projection against illegal
access in a User s/Owner s computer or other technology gadgets that contain personal information
without the Owner being aware. The system security covers Networking Protection which is an
accidental downloading of software codes like computer viruses, spam, worms, Trojan horses,
logic bombs, spyware, and adware, that create an annoyance, steals, harms or alters data or cripple
system capacities. In the meantime, it also covers Physical Protection preventing others to steal or
access your personal gadgets. Programs for protection have been created for a long time and are
still being created for the cause of fighting the threatening programs. The battle of anti threatening...

The Legacy Of John Caldwell Calhoun
John Caldwell Calhoun was born March 18th, 1782 in Abbeville, South Carolina. In the year
1807, John Calhoun received admission to the South Carolina bar and practiced law. The year
after, he was elected into the state legislature of South Carolina, where he served for two years
leading to his election to the U.S House of Representatives in the year 1810. In 1817, John
Calhoun was appointed as Secretary of War by President Monroe, in which during his term, he
made substantial changes to the War Department. Calhoun served two terms as Vice President: in
1825 with John Quincy and in 1829 with Andrew Jackson. In 1832 he quit his Vice President
position and returned to South Carolina as a Senator, a position which he held for eleven years. In...

State House of Representatives, from the years of 1807 until 1809. Henry then returned to the
Senate until 1811. Clay became one of the leaders of an anti British group known as the War
Hawks while he was a U.S Representative from 1815 to 1825. After his term as Secretary of
State, Henry returned to the U.S Senate from 1831 to 1852. Clay s recognition as a
compromiser originated from his involvement in the Missouri Compromise. Henry s appointment
as the Secretary of State caused controversy. His pursuit for the Presidency in the 1824 election
ended with no majority for any of the candidates. Clay supported John Adams instead of Andrew
Jackson, which violated the instructions of the Kentucky legislature. Due to the informal
precedent that the Secretary of State would eventually assume the presidency, Jackson
supporters pictured Clay s position as Secretary of State as a corrupt bargain. Nevertheless, Clay
had experience as a diplomat and a goal to pursue as Secretary of State. Clay served in the Peace
Commission after the War of 1812 which negotiated the Treaty of Ghent with the British in 1814.
As one of the commissioners, Clay urged to keep the British from receiving free navigation on to
the Mississippi River. Clay had based his policy plan on the American System, dwelling upon the
federal support of the national economic development. To that time in history, Clay had

White Wolf Mountain Research Paper
White Wolf Mountain is a place of mystery. The Mountain is a majestic monolith, rising above all
others and overlooking the valley it created. It harbors a Power older than any living thing on
Earth. The Power has grown over centuries, millennia, eons never having been created, but having
always existed. Nobody knows how it came to be, but they do know this: the Poweris changing,
evolving all the time. It sees all but it does not know all. The Power likes to learn. It likes to test
its subjects and watch the outcome. The Power is a sentient being. Though it has no physical form
and is confined to the Mountain, its influence extends far beyond its home of rock.
The Power started taking an interest in the animals that evolved around it when the Earth was
young. Only when the mammals started to come, and the Mountain grew in size with the shifting
plates below did the Power have enough energy to begin to act on its whims. The first animal to
come under the Power s influence was the wolf. A primitive creature, yet complex nonetheless. The
wolf hunted and scavenged, were social creatures, communicating through howls and yips and body
language and the Power was fascinated by this. The Power wanted to understand this, and when it
had amassed enough energy, it created its own wolf.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first this White Wolf was distrusted by the others, but eventually they took her in and treated
her as one of their own. The White Wolf was revered as a prize among the wolves, and she was

the pack, but she knew something was amiss. She did not age. She was as immortal as the Power

Process Of Aging
Although many people dread the process of aging, getting older is simply a natural part of life.
Factors such as genetic make up, overall health, and stress all play a part in how each person ages.
But at some point, every single person will inevitably grow older. When examining the typical
lifespan of humanbeings, it s evident that physical changes take place even from the time of infancy
and early childhood. From the very moment of birth, our bodies embark on the journey of
development. Because of the fact that we all experience aging, it is important to know what the
process of becoming older entails. In order to equip communities with the information they need,
developmental psychologists have taken it upon themselves to study the behaviors,... Show more

Throughout infancy and the early childhood years, people are more aware of the importance of
age related milestones, which leads them to pay closer attention. However, the further on the
journey of adulthood, the more variability there is among others who are also our own age. In
fact, change is not evaluated based off of chronological age alone. It does, of course, play a role.
But it isn t everything. Biological age, which is a measure of how an adult s physical condition
compares with others within their age range, is used in the evaluation of physical systems.
Biological age can also be altered through lifestyle changes. On the other hand, psychological age
refers to the measure of how well an adult is able to deal effectively with the environment in
comparison to others. An example of this would be a 30 year old woman who constantly arrives
to work late because she sleeps in. Although her biological age is 30, her psychological age is
much lower than that. Social age is a measure of the expected roles a person takes on at a
specific point in their life. A 20 year old who works full time, goes to school, and helps her family
support their household is going to have a much higher social age than her biological age. Having
an awareness of these terms helps in understanding the complexity of human

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (Adhd) Is The Most
Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is the most diagnosed disorder in America at
a staggering 11 percent of the nation s children. That statistic equals to 6.4 million children ages
4 17 being diagnosed with this disorder. According to The Center for Disease Control (CDC),
this means more students than ever are being diagnosed with a disorder which makes learning
difficult for them. Dealing with this disorder can be extremely difficult as an educator and a
student. One of many approaches by educators have been the use of out of the box teaching tools
such as exercise balls. Seasoned teachers relying on years of experience will sometimes disregard

Sparks study, using tools to allow creative minds to blossom is something he suggests.
According to a study published in The Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology, by Cory Armes,
M.E suggests hyperactivity may actually help students overcome their attention problems.
Running, jumping and even rolling around in class actually helps an ADHD student
concentrate. Most ADHD students become restless when they are asked to do a task involving
the use of the executive functioning of the brain. Research also shows when students with
ADHD were asked to do a task which involved working with memory and organization, students
that were given permission to move or fidget performed much better than students who were
asked to be still. This study proves the ADHD student s gross motor movements helps them
finish intellectual tasks. In essence if a student with ADHD is allowed to move around and
fidget, they will be more successful in their work. What does this mean to the average student
and teacher? Studies have shown to help an ADHD student succeed, he or she must be allowed
to be hyperactive. How does one control this hyperactive behavior? A wobble chair, an exercise
ball as a seat and small fidget devices such as squishy balls, cubes, and spinners can be used by
ADHD students to keep them in their space and be less of a distraction for others in the class.

no longer automatically give custody of a child to his or her mother. Nowadays, judges review
several factors and determine the area that would be in the child s best interest. Both parents
will want to have an attorney present to stand by their side in a custody dispute. The judge will

stability will not be a main factor in making a custody decision, but it will be one of the areas that
the judge will review. He or she will want to ensure that the child has all the essentials such as

For this project, I decided to revisit the story/movie of Forrest Gump. In the movie, Forrest Gump
was portrayed as a young man with both intellectual and physical disabilities; these characteristics
categorized him abnormal/less of a man. These disabilities made Forrest experience devaluation on
various levels in different stages of his life. His mother tried to protect him from such acts keeping
him isolated and close to home. Forrest Gumps character was made fun of a lot, throughout the
film. As a child, Forrest Gump had visual impairments that required him to wear leg braces. These
braces were to assist him with the crook in his back. Further research relates this type of
impairment with scoliosis. It is also portrayed that Forrest Gump

taught by guest lecturers at the end of semester one. Each virtualised system will be looked at
extensively covering their features; along with their advantages and disadvantages. Nowadays
virtualisation systems have become very popular, meaning there is completion grown in the
virtualisation market. Two examples of popular virtualised systems are Microsoft Hyper V which
was introduced as part of Windows Server 2008, and KVM the kernel based virtual machine that
turns Linux into a hypervisor. Within this report both KVM and Hyper V will be explained and
compared; as well as pointing out their good aspects and their flaws.

Genetic Enhancement
Designer Babies Picture a young couple in a waiting room looking through a catalogue together.
This catalogue is a little different from what you might expect. In this catalogue, specific traits for
babies are being sold to couples to help them create the perfect baby. This may seem like a bizarre
scenario, but it may not be too far off in the future. Designing babies using genetic enhancement is
an issue that is gaining more and more attention in the news. This controversial issue, once thought
to be only possible in the realm of science fiction, is causing people to discuss the moral issues
surrounding genetic enhancement and germ line engineering. Though genetic research can prove
beneficial to learning how to prevent hereditary... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(CRG) Proponents also believe that genetic engineering would prevent the necessity for repeated
gene modifications for somatic cells as well. Another reason some scientists support this
procedure is to give couples a way to prevent passing on genes to their future offspring that may
predispose them to inherit a condition they want to avoid (CRG). Also, with germ line
modification, couples would be able to enhance certain characteristics of their future children.
Koshland says that germline alteration could meet future В‘needs to design individuals better at
computers, better as musicians, better physically (CRG). James Watson has told researchers to
try to prevent ugly babies and stupid people and to reduce the odds that anyone will be shy or a
В‘cold fish (McKibben 22). The basic selling point of germ line modification that supporters like
Watson seem to be focusing on for the long term is the possibility of the В‘enhancement of desired
traits. In other words, the possibility of designer children (CRG).
So called В‘successful attempts at germ line modification will bring the production of human
beings into the world of designer items. The human creations will be subject to the fashion of the
times just like any other designer item (CRG). Those in favor of germ line manipulation make the
assumption that once a gene in a certain condition is found, it is only appropriate and would be
reasonably easy

The Brotherhoods in the Invisible Man
The Brotherhood in the Invisible Man Brotherhoods are associations, usually of men, that unite for
common purposes. The members in the brotherhood typically respect one another, defend one
another, and cooperate to obtain specific goals. The American Federation of Labor (AFL) was
one of the first federations of labor unions in the United States, whose goal is to create better
employment opportunities for workers. Kappa Sigma and Sigma Chi are two of the largest
university fraternities in the country and whose similar values are leadership, service, and
scholarship. In the novel, the narrator rarely speaks of his family, except for his grandfather who

So you must put aside your past (p.234). The last leader Rinehart does not physically appear in
the novel however the narrator learns about his different personas when he disguises himself and
is taken to be Rinehart. By wearing dark green shades and a big hat for a disguise, people in the
streets recognize him as the man Rinehart. Through their perceptions of him, the narrator sees how
Rinehart has taken on the conflicting identities of a lover, hipster, runner, pimp, briber, and
Reverend. He was a broad man, a man of parts who got around. Rinehart the rounder. (p.376).
Rinehart appears to be especially devious and deceptive, in reality; he has simply learned to adapt
to his environment. Two of the three leaders offer the narrator lifestyles that would help him gain
some recognition or benefits like Brother Jack and his brotherhood or Rinehart and the ability of
disguise. Ras doesn t necessarily offer a lifestyle to the narrator, and instead they become fast
enemies. The narrator develops different relationships with the leaders of the three brotherhoods.
Each of the leaders develops either a friendship or becomes an enemy except Rinehart who is
neither to the narrator. Ras is the main black opponent to the Brotherhood whom the narrator has to
deal with in Harlem. He calls the narrator a traitor for not militantly supporting his race against the

The Ethical Marketing Strategy Of Pharmaceutical Advertising
What are some of the ethical issues associated with this marketing strategy? Pharmaceutical
advertisements has been the subject of deliberation for more than a century. Pharmaceutical
advertising and marketing make up a large fragment of the activities of pharmaceutical
corporations. These publications can be extremely informative as long as they are analytically
evaluated. However, the data enclosed in promotional material may be scant or erroneous.
Assuredly, the pharmaceutical marketingactivities has a great effect on the behavior of the
physicians however hidden rather than suggested in its script noticeable (Makowska, 2014;
UKessays, 2015). The ethical marketing strategies in the pharmaceutical industryare procedures
used to sell medicines morally. The strategy must be as such that it does not influence the decision
making criteria of physicians. Ethical marketing is usually referred to as the use of marketing ethics
into the marketing process. The establishment of marketing ethics has the potential to benefit
society as a whole and should be considered a part of business ethics in the sense that marketing
forms a substantial part of any business model. Marketing strategies are organized into five
classifications: physicians targeted promotions; direct to consumer advertising; unethical
recruitment of physicians; researchers conflicts of interest; and data manipulation in clinical trials.

Essay about Symbolic Interactionism Theory
Symbolic Interactionism Theory
George Herbert Mead studied and used an interactionist approach for many years. He was a
philosophy professor at the university of Chicago. Mead thought that the true test to any theory is
whether or not it is useful in solving complex social problems (EM Griffin, p.83). So Mead decided
to study the procedures of communicating, specifically with symbols, the theory was titled
Symbolic Interactionism.
Mead declared that our gift of language, our ability to manipulate and interpret abstract symbols,
was what separated human beings from the other animals. I feel in a big way that Mead is correct.
Humans understand and filter out information whether they intend to or not, all due to the channel of

Meanings of things arise out of social interaction. In order for there to be a meaning between two
people you must socially intersect, whether or not it s verbally or non verbally.
Meanings are handled in and modified through, an interpretative process (1972, p.401). Everyone
sees a symbol and takes it to their own degree of meaning, not everyone interprets a meaning the
same way.
The exchange of meaning is usually the number one reason for problems in a relationship. Dyads
and groups struggle over the processes and content of communication. It s obvious that there are
different implications for different people, so the goal is to work out a consensus although that isn
t usually achieved. Not only is it the differences in meaning, studies show that it is taken for
granted symbols that are the most likely for the subject of disagreement. Taken for granted symbols
are signs that people give to one another that aren t picked up on by others.
One of the most important part of the symbolic interaction structuring is for human beings to
realize that one of the most important objects in their communication environment is the self of the
individual. Self represents ways the individual acts toward or treats him/herself, otherwise known
as the looking glass self . There s two ways that one sees him/herself, one of them is the I

Comparing Chinese Imagery And Art
The Neolithic Period, tracing back as early as 10,000 BC, where evidence of pottery making

decoration, and technique, leading to the identification of more than thirty Late Neolithic cultures
throughout China(Heritage East Group, 2012).
Chinese writing, lacquer, a substance that gives wood a polished finish and solidifies to form a

The Chinese people s progression with stone and pottery developed drastically in the Qin Dynasty.
The Qin Dynasty followed the Zhou Dynasty and it was during this period that the Great Wall of
China was established. The ruler Qin Shihuangdi is credited with building the Great Wall of
China by uniting several preexisting defensive walls (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2015).
These pre existing walls were less significant clay walls built by individually established towns
near to the border. Some sources state that the wall was for defensive purposes but some also
say that the Great Wall speaks well for a growth in the mixed soil of peace and war. It stands for
some power, an unbeatable power despite all bitter conditions, known as the Great Wall Spirit
among Chinese people (Great Wall Web Site, 2015), meaning that the wall didn t just represent
defence, but it was a much more beautiful and well composed symbol of peace for the Chinese
people. The wall was also a landmark for the architecture of the period. The same ruler is
responsible for the creation of the Terracotta Army , its construction occurred as the ruler desired a
tomb guarded by an army. The army consisted of over 7,000 pottery soldiers, horses, chariots, and
even weapons (TravelChinaGuide, 2015).

  • 3. Embrace What the World has Given to You EMBRACE THE WORLD GIVEN TO YOU So I walk into the Hyderabad Airport with so many things running in my mind. Even though this is not my first time to New York, this moment I m coming to live here rather than visiting for a quick holiday. But within a few weeks I realized the most important thing about moving to a completely different environment you don t need to change yourself. All you need to alter is your perception. My parents were more apprehensive than me. They believed that their son would return a much fairer, different, open and heavily accented individual. They had seen such stories multiple times on the television screen, and heard of it from other people, but never imagines it might happen to them as well. Irrespective of their presumptions, I ended up encountering many new places and experiences in just 6 months into this country. In this short span, I saw a tennis grand slam final, surfed, skied, gambled and even flew a plane for the first time visiting 6 main US cities across the country. Unlike what I saw in all Hollywood movies, New York Citywasn t just about tall skyscrapers, busy subways and glittering downtown. Having spent my entire life in the brutal heat of Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Coimbatore, I was entering a climate that was chillingly different. It was hard to imagine not being able to wear shorts and slippers and walk about without jackets or coats on a daily basis. It s important to embrace the environment you enter, so you and it can maintain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Most Comprehensive Global Route Network The combined United Continental Holdings competes on the basis of having what it terms the most comprehensive global route network , modern planes, and an industry leading loyalty program (UnitedContinentalHoldings.com, 2012). The merger between two struggling airlines was announced in 2010, and the United brand is going to be the one that is most prominent going forward. There have recently been some minor implementation problems in unwinding the Continental name (Martin, 2012). While it is difficult, to some extent, to evaluate the success of a merger that is only just now entering its final implementation phases, it is known that the objective of that merger was to use the larger route network to attract more business, and that the combined airline would also extract cost savings as the result of increased operational efficiency. The airline had struggled in 2009, with its sales declining, but it recovered in 2010 and 2011. Sales last year were $33.678 billion, up from $21.068 billion the year before. In the past two years, the company has turned a profit, going from $253 million in net income in FY2010 to $840 million in net income in FY2011. Some of this improvement may stem from the impact of the merger. However, the airline industry is highly cyclical, and the past two years have represented economic improvement. Likewise, the losses the company faced in FY2008 and FY2009 were as much the result of the economic downturn as they were internal business factors. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chairman of today s occasion, All academia present, Distinguished old boys, Ladies and gentlemen. 1 Today is indeed a remarkable day. I therefore count it as a great honour to be among you to share some wisdom together. I thank the executive of the club for putting up this kind of forum. This is highly commendable and I salute your outstanding leadership! I also greet my audience with great humility, for while some are on their bed sleeping off destiny, you have rather chose to search for knowledge. It takes few men to rule the world, and the few I believe, constitutes this audience. 2 The topic before me simply states; The Role of Discipline in Destiny Fulfillment. It is such a very interesting subject matter. Whosoever may have thought of it has done quite a very good job. Many people dream about fulfillment, but only few see it, for while they are still on the road to destiny, many young girls become young mothers and young boys take to drug and other dangerous habits. And as we together dissect the topic, I beseech you all to demonstrate the first discipline, by listening with open minds. 3 Before I begin to analyse all my analytical analysis, we may need to define some terms and terminologies for us to have a proper comprehension. Theories Of Knowledge And Psychological Applications Essay Theories of Knowledge and Psychological Applications How individuals are able to obtain knowledge is something that psychologists have studied for a number of years. The ability to store and retrieve knowledge provides individuals with the propensity to form logical thought, express emotions and internalize the world around them. In order for a psychologist to understand the theories of knowledge it is necessary to investigate the aspects of the theories. In this paper we examine the history , the basic construct, the similarities of the theories and how those theories relate to psychological therapies. Many new theorists would enter the field of neural network models, but it was the work of Rumelhart, Hinton, and McClelland that would simplify the way we would view such models (Arbib, 1995). It was in 1986 that Rumelhart, Hinton, and McClelland developed their network model. It was and still is regarded as one of the most notable network theories. This is true because they structured their theory in a clear, concise, and intelligible manner (Martindale ,1991). Neural network models have evolved during the past sixty years. The initial theories were extremely difficult to comprehend and they were not interchangeable with a broad range of topics. Today s theories are simpler to understand because they are less complex. The theories are capable of encompassing numerous topics. The dual coding approach is one that believes that knowledge is a series of complex associative networks. Within these networks we find imaginal and verbal representations. These verbal and nonverbal representations are means that facilitate the retrieval and storage of knowledge (Paivio, 1986). The individual who was at the fore front of the development of the dual coding theory was Allan Paivio. He did research in the area of verbal and nonverbal representations during the 1960 s. ... Philip had an easier path to his reign because of his father and this gave him the power to enforce his will among his subjects and resistance came along. Elizabeth s upbringing to the throne was more difficult than Philips and it led her to develop stronger ambitions and values with her subjects. This was because Elizabeth tried to shift the responsibility onto the signatories of the Bond of Association, presumably on the grounds that they had declared their own right to carry out the death sentence against any person found guilty. Elizabeth wanted to push aside her responsibility for the death of Mary to someone else, so Spain would understand and maybe not invade England. This showed that Elizabeth s strategies during her reign were passive, although, she still proved to be a leader who would protect her country from the Spanish by assembling a powerful naval fleet. Elizabeth showed leadership qualities to her people and they looked up to her and that is why she was a wiser leader to her subjects than Philip. Philip showed passive aggressiveness during the Spanish Armada preparation because he was indecisive with his strategies. He would do his business at the San Lorenzo de Escorial in a secret office. Philip did not want to pursue the war, but he felt that it was inevitable. He was not sure what strategies would work. The recession and intensification is classified as occurring in waves, and this characterization parallels the wave feminist movements tend to crash over society. For the scope of this paper, the focus will be centered on American feminismand the conditions associated with and imposed upon the participants. Although the first wave of feminism was considered complete with the granting of women s suffrage, feminism has evolved with the times to encapsulate the issues facing the women of the time. While the fundamental premise of each feminist wave is the desire to overcome sexist oppression and gender based inequalities, intergenerational conflicts exist between the new and old feminists. Feminism is plagued by opposing values as opponents believe it is too extreme, yet advocates believe it is not extreme enough. The internal and external strife leads to an aversion among the younger generation when assuming the identity. These conflicts are counterproductive to the renunciation of misogyny as they divide the movement meant to unify women. The Holocene Epoch is the timescale given to the last 11,700 years of earth s history, beginning at the end of the last ice age. (BD Smith et al, 2013) Therefore it can be noted as being a relatively warm period in history in comparison to other scales of time from the past. The Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis is an idea put forward by Professor William F Ruddiman from the University of Virginia which states that the effects of human induced greenhouse gasemissions did not occur simply since the industrial era, but may well have been kick started many thousands of years before this, closer to the start of the Holocene. This coincides with Ruddiman s belief of CO2 levels increasing due to human activity. There is a clear pattern between the rise in industrial activity and the rise in CO2 levels. Since the industrial revolution (1750 1900) there was a rapid rise in levels of CO2 being created and emitted into the atmosphere. As a consequence, this saw a rise in the CO2 levels from 270ppm to roughly 310ppm by the 1950 s, which increased again in the following 30 years by 70ppm, after the initiation of the Great Acceleration of industry (W Steffen et al, 2007). Non coincidentally the Little Ice Age which occurred during the Holocene ended at around 1800, shortly after the beginning of the Industrial revolution. (Richard Prentice) This shows a clear correlation between the increase of CO2 levels and human activity. My suggestions for you who love sea activities, you should try snorkeling in Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air. Because they are many beautiful fish and coral reefs, other fun activities like giving food to the fish and visited many fish points like turtle points and Manta points. And for the food, you should eat the Gelato because it s really yummy. And for those who like spicy foods, you should try Plecing Kangkung, Taliwang Chicken and Rembiga Satay. And don t forget to eat Grilled Fish in Nipah. For the cultural activities, you should visit the Clay Factory. You will see the beautiful clay there and you will learn how to make the clay. • 21. Challenge To Royal Policies And Authority In Early Stuart... The trend of challenge to Royal policies and authority in Early Stuart England (1603 49) was significant because it resulted in Civil War and the overthrow of monarchical government. This trend was influenced by political, social and economic forces. The political forces were mainly over the debate between absolutism and constitutionalism. Social forces involved a conflict within the Church of England between Arminianism/Laudianism and Puritanism. Underlying the political and social forces were economic forces which have been subject to considerable debate among historians. Elizabeth died in 1603 and she was succeeded by her Protestant relative, King James VI of Scotland. Though her reign had seen problems over religion, the 1559 Religious Settlement remained intact and England had become more influenced on the world scene. English had become the leading Protestant power in Europe. James I became the King of England in 1603. He was determined to rule England wisely and he had successfully ruled the troublesome Scots where many others had failed in the past. However, he increased financial problems and difficulties in managing parliament. Even though James I misunderstood some aspects of the governing of his reign and kept England at peace until 1624. The deployment of economic sanctions on the international stage by states to influence the behavior of other states has become the norm in International Relations. Despite the increase in popularity of this practice over the course of the past century, the question of its efficiency is one that is still debated and remains unanswered. The idea that putting economic pressures on a countryto illicit a certain behavior or change in behavior from that country works in theory, but in practice, it is more complicated and does not necessarily work the way that theory suggests it should. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Positive sanctions are meant to foster relations between countries. Negative sanctions are intended to cause another country economic harm. The debate around economic sanctions typically focuses on the negative kind. Sanctions can be unilateral from one sender country to one target country or multilateral from multiple countries. Multilateral sanctions can be orchestrated by one main country supported by other countries, or they can be sent under the auspices of an international organization. Raul Caruso distinguishes three different kinds of negative sanctions boycotts, embargoes, and Kassim 3 financial sanctions. A boycott is the restriction of imports from the targetcountry; embargoes are restrictions on exports to the target country; financial sanctions are restrictions on investment in the target country (Caruso Should We Set 23). Kaempfer and Lowenberg posit that economic sanctions can be proposed for the following three reasons: in response to a nation that threatens the wealth or security of the sender nation; to achieve moral or ideological goals; as a part of trade policy and commercial relations i.e. in response to tariffs or quotas (Kaempfer 2). The question of whether or not sanctions are efficient is a difficult one to answer. A major contributing factor to this difficulty is the lack of a universal standard for gauging success. Risks Associated With The Outsourcing Of It Functions An analysis of the outcomes of the outsourcing of IT functions reveals that there are several challenges facing organizations who are contemplating or have already outsourced IT business functions. Through my research on the topic of IT outsourcing I have determined that there are many different types of risks associated with the outsourcing of IT functions to a third party company that can equal or exceed the benefits if certain considerations are not taken into account. Risks of outsourcing IT functions can include strategy risks, selection risks, implementation risks and management risks. The outsourcing of IT functions to a 3rd party can be beneficial to a company as it allows that company a means to reduce expenses, focus on its core competencies and free up resources to drive business growth. But ultimately, if the who, what, when, where, why and how are not determined up front and written into a flexible contractual agreement, and the relationship between both parties is not a partnership the venture is destine to fail. Let s examine in depth the various types of risks associated with the outsourcing of IT functions to a 3rd party vendor. Strategy Risks One of the biggest strategy risks associated with outsourcing is determining the proper scope of the IT business processes which should be outsourced. Organizations should look to outsource non cost effective and undesirable business functions but need to make sure that the function which is being outsourced is not ... Never have I seen a preacher use humor to connect with his audience as Pastor Tim does. Look up his sermons on YouTube, you won t be disappointed. I ll attach my favorite sermon of his (JONAH HAS TOO MANY CHAPTERS) at the end of this post. I blogged about this sermon some weeks back, but it s worth listening to. I believe God said to Himself Joseph if you didn t think that last sermon was meant for you, maybe if I send you your favorite preacher, you ll then believe it is for you. As he spoke on this topic, I began to think about my level of tithing or the lack of it. The process of forming impression is determined through verbal communication, non verbal communication and paralinguistic cues. Verbal communication is the content of what a person says. Non verbal communication is the way we present ourselves without using spoken language while paralanguage is the way we talk other than spoken words. This research conducted was experimental. This is because there are two variables identified in this research which are independent variable (IV) and dependent variable (DV). The IV was the duration of time while the DV was the result of the First Impression Scale (FIS).The research question is Are the results of the First Impression Scale affected by the time a person is exposed to the presenter? .Thus, the objective of this research is to find out whether the time a person is exposed to the video will affect the person s impression on the presenter. This information could be important to determine how long an advertisement or a show should last to create a good impression among the audience. The research hypothesis is the longer a person is exposed to the video, the better the impression formed. The Dangers of Shirking Responsibility in Arthur Miller s All My Sons Arthur Miller s All My Sons is a well made play in every sense of that term. It not only is carefully and logically constructed, but addresses its themes fully and effectively. The play communicates different ideas on war, materialism, family, and honesty. However, the main focus, especially at the play s climax, is the issue of personal responsibility. Scholars may argue that without Emerson and his influential sermons and speeches that Walt Whitman would have never found his voice, but how can someone who so many consider one of the greatest poets of all time cease to exist? Ralph Waldo Emersonknew what he was doing when he published The Poet. It was an outcry for the American people to speak a truthful narrative about the human experience, warts and all. Ralph Waldo Emerson was an influential author and speaker, so when he wrote The Poet, Walt Whitman emerged and fulfilled his expectations after some hesitation from Emerson. Both authors paved the way for countless other writers and played a huge role in American culture and literature. While both authors have their respected writing styles, Walt Whitman found his voice through Emerson s influence and responded to his call for American poets to step forth and show the world a new era of poetry and literature. Emerson had a specific idea of what poetry should be and although Whitman answered the call, he went in a different direction with his works and writing style. It harbors a Power older than any living thing on Earth. The Power has grown over centuries, millennia, eons never having been created, but having always existed. Nobody knows how it came to be, but they do know this: the Poweris changing, evolving all the time. It sees all but it does not know all. The Power likes to learn. It likes to test its subjects and watch the outcome. The Power is a sentient being. Though it has no physical form and is confined to the Mountain, its influence extends far beyond its home of rock. The Power started taking an interest in the animals that evolved around it when the Earth was young. Only when the mammals started to come, and the Mountain grew in size with the shifting plates below did the Power have enough energy to begin to act on its whims. The first animal to come under the Power s influence was the wolf. A primitive creature, yet complex nonetheless. Throughout infancy and the early childhood years, people are more aware of the importance of age related milestones, which leads them to pay closer attention. However, the further on the journey of adulthood, the more variability there is among others who are also our own age. In fact, change is not evaluated based off of chronological age alone. It does, of course, play a role. But it isn t everything. Biological age, which is a measure of how an adult s physical condition compares with others within their age range, is used in the evaluation of physical systems. Biological age can also be altered through lifestyle changes. On the other hand, psychological age refers to the measure of how well an adult is able to deal effectively with the environment in comparison to others. An example of this would be a 30 year old woman who constantly arrives to work late because she sleeps in. Although her biological age is 30, her psychological age is much lower than that. Social age is a measure of the expected roles a person takes on at a specific point in their life. Another reason some scientists support this procedure is to give couples a way to prevent passing on genes to their future offspring that may predispose them to inherit a condition they want to avoid (CRG). Also, with germ line modification, couples would be able to enhance certain characteristics of their future children. So Mead decided to study the procedures of communicating, specifically with symbols, the theory was titled Symbolic Interactionism.
