Texas Anti Marijuana Laws Should Be Banned
Texas has had a long history of being a state that marijuana is smuggled into across the border
with Mexico. The anti marijuana laws in Texas are some of the strictest in the United States
with high fines and long prison sentences. Currently under Texas laws the possession of 2oz or less
can result in 180 days in jail and or a fine up to $2000 dollars, as well as your license being
suspended for 12 months. So why does Texastake a such a harsh stance against marijuana? Why
does Texas keep throwing money on fighting a war on marijuana? How many more of our fellow
Texans are going to have their lives ruined over using a plant that grows out of the ground.
Through research I will show and explain how the current aggressive laws and policy against
marijuana in Texas effects not only the users, but every Texan. The beginning of Texas anti
marijuana laws can be traced back to the city of El Paso (Drug Policy ORG). Prior to 1914 Texas
had no laws concerning the usage or sale of the plant, but then the stories of people using
marijuana in Mexico and terrorizing people made their way to El Paso and the Deputy Sheriff
Stanley Good. Deputy Good made it a personal mission of his to get El Paso to make the
substance illegal. The whole basis of his argument is that immigrants from Mexico will come to
the Untied States and use the drug and terrorize El Paso. At the time marijuana use was prevalent
in the border towns by both Americans and Mexicans but nobody gave it any

Debt Driven Economy
Not only is humanity continuously following a natural cycle on a grand time scale, but also
smaller aspects of everyday lives follow a similar pattern. This poem relates the the cyclical nature
of single human life to the cyclical nature of the economy. This poem demonstrates how the
progression of life follows a pattern and how a smaller aspect, the economy, also follows a patterns
that can relate to each other.
Life A Debt Driven Economy
As you get older, you come to understand the economics of age.
You go through a cycle you see.
When you were new , you had energy,
You developed, a state of Growth.
You reached your prime,
Your life was booming, a state of Prosperity.
You were young
But eventually as time goes by,
Your hair begins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem relates the cyclical nature of our economy to each individual life coming full circle.
Throughout history, the economy booms and times become prosperous, such as the Roaring 20
s. However, the economy can go bust and ruin lives, such as the Great Depression, just as
quickly. This illustrates how the loop of the economy and a human s life are related. This also
shows that the balance in this universe cannot be broken or changed. This poem describes being
young and having energy, which would be considered the upward swing of your life and the
times of a developing economy. Then there is a state of prosperity where one reaches their
prime, which would be being at the top of the circular swing and when the economy is booming.
And then begins the process of having less energy, not being as prosperous, start of aging; all of
which would be considered the downward swing and the economy going bust. And ultimately,
death is the lowest point of the swing. This whole cycle then begins all again, but with another
life this time. It is not surprising that if the timeline of humanity, then certain aspects such as the
economy also follow the circular pattern too. This theme is a double edged sword. While it is
comforting to know that rough times will not last forever and humanity will pull itself up, it is
also depressing to know nothing good in life will always stay the same, it will eventually all burn
down for it to be rebuilt

What Is Cadbury A Big Business
Introduction
The person, who created the Cadbury business, is John Cadbury in 1824. The business started as a
shop in a fashionable place in Birmingham. It sold things such as tea and coffee, mustard and a
new sideline cocoa and drinking chocolate, which John Cadbury prepared himself using a mortar
and pestle. In 1847 the Cadbury business became a partnership. This is because John Cadbury took
his brother, which also made it a family business. The business was now known as The Cadbury
Brothers. A factory in Birmingham was rented, to produce their products. In 1854 the company
received its first Royal Warrant as manufacturers of cocoa and chocolate to Queen Victoria . In

Tampa Bay Stadium Case Study
William Edwards, owner of the NASL Tampa Bay Rowdies is proposing a privately financed
soccer stadium in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The Saint Petersburg entrepreneur seeks to construct
an attractive, contemporary style stadium, for a possible MLS franchise. The site, where the
historic Major League Baseball Al Lang Stadium sits, overlooks Tampa Bay, in Saint Petersburg.
Edwards, at a team rally/news conference, indicated that he is in preliminary talks with the MLS to
bring a franchise to the Florida Gulf Coast, in an 18,000 stadium. The Al Lang site would be
renovated with the addition of 12,000 seats. The site is adjacent to the fine arts venue, the Mahaffey
Theatre, which Edwards runs for the City of Saint Petersburg. Initial estimates... Show more content

Unlike Edwards private financing proposal, the Rays baseball club demanded public funding and
expansion into the surrounding streets and into Tampa Bay. Many see Edwards stadium proposal
an ideal fit for the downtown Saint Petersburg. It taps into the downtown aura without an
intrusion and further elevates Saint Petersburg, Florida as a major league sports town. The
proposed soccer venue would compliment the picturesque waterfront of the burgeoning Tampa
Bay metropolis. While William Bill Edwards plans for the waterfront stadium is ambitious, it
requires voter approval. Edwards, working with community leaders indicated he will not pursue a
referendum on the project until he receives final approval for an MLS expansion team. Sports
finance analysts estimate Edwards shelling out $150 million to the MLS for an expansion team.
The figure could balloon even high as the MLS Orlando City franchise currently holds territorial
rights to the Saint Petersburg location. If everything falls into place, Williams envisions the Saint
Petersburg MLS franchise beginning play in 2019. MLS sees the Tampa Bay region as a viable
market giving the rave reviews the region gets for lifestyle, culture, and weather. A voter
referendum would occur in August 2017 at the

Illustrations of Poly-Pharmacology in Dietary...
One of the most explicit illustrations of poly pharmacology in dietary phyto nutrient is Curcumin.
One can consider curcumin as an ideal candidate for preventive therapeutic action in cancer as a
sole agent or in combination with traditional therapies, because of its ability to target multiple
number of signaling pathways relevant to cancer [168,169]. One of the approaches for
identification of polypharmacological chemical compounds is virtual screening of all potential
molecular targets of interest for interactions with these chemicals [171]. Another approach to
enable virtual screening of the receptorome attempts to generate a compendium of computational
predictors (e.g., QSAR models or structure based models). Consequently, these constructed
models can be employed in the virtual screening of chemical libraries for recognition of novel
ligands for a panel of molecular targets and to predict polypharmacological matrices for these all
chemicals incorporated in the chemical database. Finally, a database of models can be built by
consolidation of these QSAR or structure based models. This database can be employed in parallel
virtual screening of chemical compounds to indentify the interacting partners from all the pre
characterized members of the receptor ome. Past research studies have successfully demonstrated
that the generation of QSAR models and subsequent model based virtual screening of chemical
libraries has led to the identification of chemically diverse

Comparing Love In Inanna And Symposium
Love s Contribution to Power in Inanna and Symposium The presence of love and power in
intimate relationships is prominent in both the Inanna and the Symposium. Both texts contain
examples of intimate relationships that lead to significant effects on the power of those in the
relationship. The Inanna and the Symposiumboth illustrate that loveis the greatest possible catalyst
for the attainment of power. Love provides individuals with attributes that in turn increase their
power. This is illustrated through the courtship of Dumuzi and Inanna and through the speeches
regarding love and the apprentice relationships that are found in the Symposium. Inanna s rise from

52). Inanna never thought about traveling to the dangerous gates of the underworld before she
gained her power. Her rise in power and dominance is notable when comparing her bold
decisions as a goddess to her helpless behavior from the beginning of the text. Inanna s drastic
gain in dominance is linked to her love life because it occurs directly after her courtship with
Dumuzi. Before marrying Dumuzi, Inanna is still very needy and asks her brother Utu who will
weave her bridal sheets for her and who will bleach them for her (pg. 31). Although Inanna is at
first hesitant to marrying Dumuzi, once they are together, Inanna s sense of dominance and
power increases. One example of her increased dominance is the instance when Inanna calls
Dumuzi to bed instead of the other way around, saying The bed is ready! ...The bed is waiting!
(pg. 42). This instance of Inanna s dominance is significant in relation to her power because it
occurs in a Sumerian text where a patriarchal society was prevalent and a woman calling a man to
bed would be considered taboo. Inanna s newly found dominance after entering marriage and

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
In today s society, it is possible for a woman to achieve nearly anything; however, for a woman of
yesterday s society, bringing world wide recognition to the many faces of prejudice is an
accomplishment of its own. Author Harper Lee has had the honor to accomplish just that through
her novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, a moving and inspirational story about a young girl learning the
difference between the good and the bad of the world. In the small town of Monroeville,
Alabama, Nelle Harper Lee was born on April 28, 1926. Growing up, Harper Lee had three
siblings: two sisters and an older brother. She and her siblings grew up modestly. Even though
money was not as much of a problem for her family as it was for others of their time, her father
never did spoil her and her siblings. Lee and her brother attended a public grammar school in
Monroe County, and Harper Lee continued to further her education after her high school
graduation. She attended Huntingdon College for a year and then transferred to the University of
Alabama at Tuscaloosa where she studied law from 1945 to 1949. While she was at the University
of Alabama, she was also an exchange student at Oxford University in England for a year.
Harper Lee always had a passion for writing. She wrote articles and satires for her college
newspaper. Months before completing her law degree, Lee moved to New York to pursue a
writing career. Her first job was as an airlines reservations clerk. Although she never stopped writing

Child Labor In India
Child labor in India is causing human rights of children to be violated. Child labor is the illegal
use of children in a business or organization. Child labor is inhumane and is a human rights
violation because it takes away the childhood experience and forces them to do work that is
harmful to their bodies and to their minds. In India, there are approximately 1.3 billion people
and other problems in the country are making it hard for the government to find time to make a
solution to illegal child labor. The child labor in India is the result of debt bondage from
families, kidnappings, lack of education, and lack of government intervention. Debt bondage is a
major contributing factor to illegal child labor in India. Debt bondage is when a family borrows
a sum of money or takes a loan and sends someone to work with them to pay off the debt and
interest. This system sounds good in theory, but has never really worked out because debt
bondage occurs when a person needing money pledges his/her labor, or that of someone under his
/her control as an exchange for the loan ( International Child Labor Study ). In some situations the
interest on the loan is so high that it cannot be paid; in others, the laborer is deemed to repay the
interest on the loan but not the actual money borrowed ( International Child Labor Study ). The
loan being inherited and it ends up becoming a debt among many generations. Children are being
dragged into this process and are being forced to go do

Contrasts between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann’s Romeo and...
Contrasts between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s Romeo and Juliet There are many differences,
large and small, between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s version of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet.
After seeing the first scene of both of these films, some notable contrasts became clear. The
props used in both films differ greatly, in the 1967 version, very dated costumes were used, it
looked like the director wanted a medieval style to be shown in the film judging by the costumes
and props used. Real swords were drawn by the Capulet s and the Montague s as the play suggests
but the fighting seemed quite unbelievable to a modern day viewer as did some of the stalls used in
the small market surroundings.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scenery in each play also differs greatly; the 1967 version is set in a medieval village with
castles and a small market. Again its age shows as the buildings and backdrops look quite fake
against the modern scenery in the 1997 film. Good lighting is used in the older film but again
the newer one has realistic effects and buildings and overall has better quality scenery. In both
films, certain lines are missed out or changed slightly; I think the language used is basically the
same but in the market it was hard at times to hear what exactly was being said over all the noise
of the villagers. Although Luhrmann did a good job of bringing modern props into the film, the
language used in play sounded odd coming from modern people, dressed in modern clothes at a
petrol station. So I think the older film did a better job with the language despite the hearing
difficulty in some parts. The Acting quality was good in both films, but I found the style in the
early 1967 version was boring and the fight scenes were slightly unbelievable. The 1997 version
was more exciting and kept u interested but there wasn t really much between the two films in the
quality of acting. Finally I looked at the different camera techniques used, it was interesting to see
that both plays had shots of the legs or shoes of one of the families, Zeffirelli shot

Conditional Cash Transfer ( Cct ) Programmes Essay
Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programmes are a form of social protection which provide
modest monthly cash transfers to families with children. Cash transfers are conditional on families
meeting the minimum requirements of regular school attendance and the use of preventive
healthcare services. Although largely praised for their success, CCTs are criticised for using
conditionality as a means of achieving the objectives to improve the capital accumulation of those
living in abject poverty. Providing direct cash transfers to raise the income levels of the poor are a
precursor to long term poverty reduction strategies. The conditional aspect of the CCT program
assures the adequate investment of parents and children in improving the health and welfare of
their family: a necessary aspect of breaking the intergenerational transmission of poverty. Brazil s
CCT, Bolsa Familia targets the educationand health indicators of their beneficiaries in order to
achieve human capitalaccumulation. CCT programmes have multiple impacts on the education and
health of recipient families. In the following I will assess their impacts on education and health by
observing the inputs for health and education and the outcomes of human capital accumulation.
Brazil s CCT, Bolsa Familia is the largest CCT programme in the world. Today, Bolsa Familia
covers 13 million households, with about 5 people in each household.
This is equates to about 25% of the population of Brazil. (Brazil is very

Thermohaline Ocean Circulation Case Study
1.Thermohaline Ocean circulation are the ocean currents that are directed by density. The density
in the water are altered by two factors; temperature and salinity. These factors emerge from the
heating and cooling of the ocean s surface. The production of sea ice and evaporation increases
salinity, while precipitation, runoff and sea ice melting reduce salinity. 2.If it is true that the
glaciers are melting, then the ocean water in the Atlantic will become less dense and warm. There
would be an extreme increase of fresh water. The freshwater entering the atlantic will dilute the
salinity causing the water to become less dense. In the atlantic sea ice is being shifted back by the
warmer surface currents. This causes a cut back of reflection... Show more content on

Heat is building up in these regions due to the deterioration of a convection cell in the Weddell
sea. The temperature difference between Antarctica and the Tropical ocean regions has caused an
raise of winds around antarctica and an expansion of the subtropical belt. This has also intensified
the tropical convection. Combined these factors have also worked together to boost the water
cycle, intensify high pressure spaces in the subtropic, and strengthen trade winds. 5.Marine
ecosystems could face the collapse of vertical mixing if THC collapses. This would be
detrimental because vertical mixing brings up vital nutrients for the depths of the ocean. So
therefore if it collapsed phytoplankton could suffer. Also it will disrupt currents, ruining the
routines of the wildlife. It will reduce their food supply and throw them of their nursing grounds.
Fish will diminish and so will fisheries. 6.The temperatures over land would be cooled, but mostly

Eliminating Discrimination In The Workplace Essay examples
As a business consultant I have been asked to suggest different methods that can possibly reduce
discrimination and prejudice in the workplace. Is it possible however to make everyone get along
and ignore their differences? According to the growing research on discrimination and prejudice,
these are learned behaviors that with practice can be unlearned, and ultimately eliminated (Baron
Branscombe, 2012, p. 195). Discriminationis defined as the negative treatment of different groups:
Prejudice, on the other hand is viewed as the negative emotions or attitudes associated with
discrimination (Baron Branscombe, 2012, p. 183). These two terms go hand in hand because they

2723). Many researchers agree that one seems to be closer or more cohesive to their own group
and associate a sense of pride for each other; on the other hand, they tend to fear the out group
because they are seen as the competitors, the enemies, and the traitors (Ramasubramanian, 2010;
Baron Branscombe, 2012; Hirsh Lyons, 2010). Clearly this creates a disconnection between
groups which make them feel a sense of threat for one another and prejudice feelings become
more evident, while differences between the two appear. One of the most common theories that
explain why prejudice persists today, as it relates to the workplace, is called realistic conflict
theory (Baron Branscombe, 2012). This psychological theory states that prejudice is more frequent
when competition arises in a situation where there are limited resources that only one group can
claim (Bobo, 1983). However, since discrimination is a learned behavior as mentioned earlier, thus
one can conclude that it can be socially influenced; therefore, behavior can be altered (Bobo Fox,
2003).
With that being said, there are many methods and practices that can be used to reduce
discrimination and prejudice feelings in the workplace between groups of different social status or
authority (Dixon et al., 2010). These methods are recognized as interpersonal

Standardized Testing Are A Waste Of Time Essay
Standardized Test Are a Waste of Time According to Diane Ravitch, Sometimes, the most brilliant
and intelligent minds do not shine in standardized tests because they do not have standardized
minds. Her point is that not every students mind operates the same way, so one test that all students
must take does not measure the student s actually abilities. Across the United States, standardized
testing is a popular method used to measure a student s academic ability and their college
admission. These exams have multiple choice questions and sometimes a writing section, which the
examiners must complete in a certain amount of time. Every year the tests get harder and harder,
which causes anxiety in the students. Standardized testing does not measure the skills students
have learned and their intelligence from school and life. The main purpose of testing is to set a
standard and have a baseline for the knowledge taught and students should know for everyone
involved in the educational process, such as teachers,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schools should put more emphasis on the growth and development of a student, instead of ranking
and determining their worth based on test scores and grades. Standardized exams are an unreliable
way to grade students and prepare them for college. In addition, they do not teach or advocate
life skills that students need when they are developing and later on in life. As Albert Einstein has
said, Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its
whole life believing that it is stupid. Einstein s quote perfectly describes today s education system.

Racial Inequality And Police Brutality
Racial inequality is a disparity in opportunity and treatment that occurs as a result of someone s
race (Racial Inequality, 1996 2017, line 1). Racial profiling and police brutality falls under racial
inequality. According to Nazgol Ghandnoosh (2017), Officers racially biased use of discretion
either intentional or unintentional is one cause of racial disparities in policecontact that are not
explained by differences in crime rates (p. 6). When one group is targeted more than another it will
cause the group that is targeted the most to have more involvement. The crime rates for black people
is higher than those of white people because more black people are arrested than white people.

Notes On Web Usage Mining
2. WEB USAGE MINING
Data mining techniques can be mainly divided into three categories: Web structural mining, Web
Content mining and web usage mining. Web structural mining is used to discover structure from
data available on web like hyperlinks and documents. It can be helpful to the user for navigating
within documents as mining can be done to retrieve intra and inter hyperlinks and DOM structure
out of documents. Web Content mining can be used to extract information from the data available
on web like texts, videos, images, audio files etc. Web usage mining is the application of data
mining techniques to discover interesting usage patterns from web usage data, in order to
understand and better serve the needs of web based applications (Srivastava, Cooley, Deshpande,
and Tan 2000). Websites or usage data takes user s available information and browsing history,
location of user etc. as input for mining information. Web usage mining can be further divided
into three categories depending upon the type of data used for mining: web server logs,
application server, application level logs. Web usage mining can be highly helpful in mining the
data for web applications and thus helping development in fields like E Commerce. It can be
helpful to discover usage patterns from Web data, thus helping serve better the needs of Web based
applications. Web usage mining can be categorized into three different phases: Preprocessing,

structure right away? Whenever a company decides to change the corporate structure, especially
internationally, I don t think it s a good idea to just jump right into the process. I think Mr. Javier is
very wise to think through all the potential problems before he pulls the trigger. The consultant RI
hired has a great idea of establishing a new international department at their headquarters. By doing
this, they can appoint a product director of each segment of their international businesses. The new
international department would have authority to coordinate the new activities and innovations,

Child Discipline
Forms of Discipline: What is best for the child?
Children are like flowers, if well taken care of they will bloom. If ignored or tortured, they will
wither and die. Child discipline is one of the most important elements of successful parenting.
Today, many people have this notion that physical abuse is in no way a solution to helping children
discern between right and wrong. Since generations children have been taught the art of discipline
through physical punishment. Often this approach to disciplining has resulted in two outcomes,
one is where the child becomes more tolerant and is willing to adhere to what he/she has been told,
or the other which more often results in children developing a sense of anguish and desire to revolt.

Today, there is a common misconception that spanking is a form of child abuse. Some parents are
actually afraid to discipline their own children using the same method used for their own
upbringing. Who is correct in the notion of right and wrong discipline? Is there such a thing as a
correct way to spank your child? In my opinion, there is. So, my objective is to show that there is a
fine line between the two terms Spanking and Child abuse. A Cambridge Dictionary states that
Child Abuse occurs when adults intentionally treat children in a cruel or violent way. On the other
hand, Spanking in the same dictionary means to hit a child with the hand, usually several times on
the bottom as a punishment. In this way, the line between the two can be drawn where too much
spanking results in bruises and scars on the child. Therefore, parents should not spank their children
when they are angry themselves as the spank would turn out to be an unintentional smack. When
this occurs, parents tend to accidently take out their frustration on the child. Primarily, this is when
Spanking, a form of discipline, starts drifting towards the entire concept of child abuse .
However, this misconception has led to many unwanted situations where parents have been sent to
jail by their own children. In a general

Individuals Need To Break Our Silence Rhetorical Analysis
I thought that this speech was very inspirational and had so much truth behind it. The concept of
conflict is very difficult but speaking up and being open about it can and will only solve it
whether it be positive or negative. I agree with Margret when she said that the truth won t set us
free until we develop the skills, the habit, the talent, and the moral courage to do it. We as
individuals need to break our silence. I feel like the speaker was trying to say go out of your way

Chicopee Public Schools Hr Assessment Essay
Chicopee Public Schools HR Assessment
Background
I have been working for Chicopee Public Schools for 2 years. I truly believe this is the best job I
ve ever had. The flexibility of my job is what I love the most. The only interaction I ve had with
Human Resources was when I got hired and when I have questions about benefits. We will dig
deeper into my human resources department. We will explore issues involving retention,
organizational growth, employee morale, and workplace demographics. I will narrow these four
areas down to one and discuss ways to fix the issues.
Target Crowd
I wanted to get an unbiased view of Chicopee Public School System s Human Resources
department through the eyes of different workers. I targeted workers from different departments.
CPS has a unique organization structure. CPS has a central office, this is where I work on a day to
day basis. The central office could be considered the main hub for CPS. The public schools in
Chicopee could be considered the sub organizations. This is what made it difficult to find a target
audience in my organization. For this reason, I only focused on employees in the central office. My
final decision was target two individuals from my human resources department, the Assistant for
English Language Learners and Teacher Support, and the Assistant for Curriculum. I felt these
individuals would give me a 360 degree view on our human resources department.
Surveys
I figured the best way to reach my targeted individuals was

Sexism And Social Psychology
Sexism in Relation to Social Psychology
People, on many occasions, have preconceived opinions that are not based on any reason or
actual experience, this is known as prejudice. Whereas sexism is a discrimination or prejudice
based on an individual s sex; a preconceived belief that one sex is superior and more valuable than
another sex. In Personality and Social Psychology Factors Explaining Sexism the authors state, The
personality approach holds factors within the individual as the major causes of prejudice, the
social psychology approach links prejudice to factors like people s social group membership and
social identity, and situational factors (Akrami, N., et al. 2011).
Within the first study written by Akrami, the participants were non psychology university students,
194 women and 185 men; with the mean age being twenty four and a half years. Responding to the
Swedish translation of the Big Five Inventory (BFI; 44 items divided among the five personality
dimensions) and the Swedish version of the 16 item Social Dominance Orientation Scale (SDO; a
15 item Right Wing Authoritarianism Scale (RWA) and the 8 item Modern Sexism Scale, the
participants completed the questionnaire on their own and anonymously. Ultimately, the results
revealed notable positive connections of sexism with SDO and RWA (Akrami, N., et al. 2011).
Two studies were conducted to investigate the harm and ubiquity of benevolent sexism and modern
sexist beliefs. The first study consisted of a group

Crucifixion And Last Judgement Analysis
A piece of artwork that is recognized today is the Crucifixion and Last Judgement by the famous
artist, Jan van Eyck and his workshop assistant which was made in 1440 41. Jan van Eyck was
born in Maaseik, Belgium in 1390. He is considered to be an early Netherlandish painter and
significant Renaissance artist of the 15th century who spent most of his career life in Bruges,
Belgium. This painting consists of two small panels in which one panel depicts the crucifixion of
Jesusand the other portrays scenes that associate themselves with the Last Judgement. In the first
panel you can see a crowd surround Jesus during his crucifixion. In the background, you can see a
clear picture of Jerusalem. On the bottom you can you see five people that appear to be... Show

As the viewer, when you look at this woman, it makes me follow her gaze to what she looks at
which I believe to be the reason as to why the artist painted her in that way. From my knowledge
on this scene from varies movies, soldiers would come and break the legs of those crucified to
speed their death. When they came to Jesus, they could not break his legs as he was already
dead. Instead, a solider pierced his side with his lance to assure themselves that he was dead. In
the Last Judgement panel, you can see that the artist divided the painting into three different
sections which depict heaven, earth and hell. In the section where heaven can be portrayed you
can see a couple of angels above Christ blowing on their horns and Christ, himself is sitting in
the center of many angels and saints. Jesus still appears to have the wounds of his crucifixion
and the wound received from the soldier s spear, but instead of being naked, he is wearing a red
robe. To the right and left of Jesus, you can see Mary (left) and John the Baptist (right) kneeling
next to him and praying. Jesus, Mary and John the Baptist have a yellow glow surrounding

How Does Edgar Allan Poe Use Humor
Horror and Humor the Two H s Horror and humor, two words that start with h that could either
make you cry from laughing, or cry from terror. Poe uses both humor and horror in many
different ways in order to create the setting. Humor is used in many different ways, such as a
friend who only keeps track of one thing that you say, for instance, the friend who keeps shouting
Amontillado! Everyone knows someone who, when feeling under the weather still insists that they
are feeling peachy. Poe also uses that in his story to create a relatable, joke that mostly everyone
can relate to. He also creates the setting of horror with vivid pictures of different things inside your
head. But right as the story has a bit of thrill he turns back to humor again to lighten up the mood....

Throughout the story, whenever the narrator would even come close to saying Amontillado, his
friend would cheerfully interrupt, by shouting the word first. By placing this in the story it can

implore you to return. No? Then I must positively leave you. But I will first render you all the
little attention in my power. Then goes on to say, The Amontillado! ejaculated my friend, not yet
recovered from his last astonishment. (The Cask of Amontillado) Most readers should be able to
relate to this in their own personal way. Such as a mom remembering that every time she would

Classifying and Treating a Fracture of a Bone
A fracture is a break or disruption in the continuity of the bone that often affects mobility and
sensation. It can occur anywhere in the body and at any age (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013, p.
1144). All fractures follow the same mechanism and require similar care regardless of type or
location. (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013, p. 1144) A fracture is classified by the severity of the
break being either complete or incomplete fractures: A complete fracture is a break along the
width of the bone resulting in the bone being separated into two sections. An incomplete fracture
is a fracture that does not result in the separation of bone because the break is only partially
through the bone. (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013, p. 1144) A closed (simple) fracture does not
cause injury to the skin and, therefore, does not have any noticeable wound. This type of fracture
still needs to be managed by stabilization of the bone and realignment if necessary. Open fractures
are ones in which a portion of the bone breaks through the skin or a wound penetrates through to a
fractured bone (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, 2011). Open fractures frequently
involve more damage to surrounding tendons, ligaments, and muscles than in a closed fractures.
They take a longer time to heal and are at increased risk for complications (American Academy of
Orthopedic Surgeons, 2011). Open fractures represent a range of injury: first, the basic underlying
problem of the fracture; second, the

Nursing Case Study Phentermine
Introduction
In the 1990 s, phentermine was marketed in combination with fenfluramine as Fen Phen. The
combination therapy was subsequently well documented to lead to valve abnormalities resulting in
aortic valve replacements, as well as pulmonary hypertension, in patients younger than expected.
This led to its ultimate removal from the market in 1997. 1 3 However, phentermine alone was
deemed safe and continued to be sold as a weight loss aid, either on its own or in combination with,
other medications.4 There are no known reports of ischemia induced by phentermine alone or other
associated weight loss agents. Particular consideration should be given to patients who present for
surgery and anesthesia who have previously been prescribed phentermine. We describe a case of
phentermine induced myocardial infarction in a young female who was previously healthy.

angiographies were normal. Further investigations for the etiology of those events, including
toxicology for cocaine abuse and a hypercoagulable state, were negative. The authors concluded that
due to the absence of cardiovascular risk factors, the appetite suppressants were responsible for the
myocardial infarctions in those two patients. In our case, the only identifiable cardiovascular risk
factor for this otherwise healthy, young woman was tobacco use. Therefore, we suspect that her use
of the appetite suppressant, phentermine, may have accelerated coronary atherosclerotic disease,

How Couples Can Improve Relationship Satisfaction For The...
Introduction Couples therapy has shown to significantly improve relationship satisfaction for the
aver couple (Doss Others, 2014). What distinguishes a healthy well functioning couple from a
dysfunctional couple? A healthy well functioning couple consists of two people who not only love
each other, but also hold a high level of respect and acceptance for one another. Communication is
also a key component in well functioning couples. The root of most problems within couples is a
lack of honest communication. In healthy relationships, there is always room for growth, both as a

important for individuals to love and respect themselves and not commit to a relationship because
of the lack of these qualities. In contrast, a pathological dysfunctional couple as two people who
lack respect, open communication, and are disloyal to each other. In dysfunctional relationships,
couples are typically inconsistent in sharing their wants and needs. One reasoning for this may be
that they are not honest with themselves therefore lack knowledge of what they want or need from

High Flow Oxygen Therapy
The project aim was to propose the adaptation of a humidification device to offer comfort to
patients who are on high flow oxygen therapy; and to provide in service trainings to clinical staff.
Fisher Paykel humidifiers were chosen in the proposal as the company provides excellent support
for staff; and my past experience has assured me that the equipment is reliable and simple to use for
nurses.
As a clinical facilitator, I provide learning opportunities to staff and nursing students at St Vincent s
Private Hospital Brisbane (SVPHB). Not long after I joined St Vincent s, I encountered a patient
who was receiving high flow oxygen (7 litres/min) via high flow nasal prongs without any
humidification device running with it. The scene surprised me. Supplemental oxygen is ... Show

Despite the challenges, this facilitating experice has instilled me a degree of appreciation of
many staff who work hard behind the scene to ahcieve the common goal of providing the best care
possible to patients within the scarce resources. It was possible to see how good working
relationship with other disciplines can improve overall efficiency.
When I re examined the entire process of oxygen humidification project, I consequently realised the
importance of cooperation with other disciplines to increase the latent influence in employing
oxygen humidification. It would have made the considerable difference to have the managerial
backing of the project to smooth out key barriers of the project.
During the implementation stage, I explained to many staff about the details and possible
applications of the equipment. This has enhanced my presentation skills greatly when delivering

Ruby Bridges Thesis
To many people Ruby Bridges had been the first African American to enter an all white school,
but to others, she was an extremely fearless little girl who radiated love in everything she did.
Ruby Bridges began attending an all white elementary school when she was only six years old.
Every school day Ruby was escorted into school by U.S. Marshalls, which helped ensure her
safety from the protestors. The vulgar protesters treated Ruby, and yelled foul words at her, which
hardly bothered Ruby any. Six year old Ruby demonstrated courage, love, and fearlessness even
though she was treated as less than, terrorized, and isolated by the other students. Initially, Ruby
was treated as though she was less than others, not only by the teachers and parents but by the
students as well. Whenever the white people would see Ruby they would look away, and ignore
her as if she was not there. Also, Ruby is extremely smart, perhaps even smarter than the white
children, but is treated as though she cannot learn and is not able. For example, when Ruby made a
surprisingly high grade on the test which helped her enter the white school, all the teachers were
tremendously surprised. Another... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The protesters threatened to poison her food, and kill her; which caused Ruby to only want to
eat packaged food and no home cooked meals. Another protester even had a coffin with a Ruby
doll in it, hoping to scare Ruby into dropping out of the all white school. Ruby s vice principal
(vp) even hired a new teacher just for her, because the VP did not want her associating with the
white children. When a preacher wanted to let his white daughter go back to school, the protesters
called him a traitor and began terrorizing him as well. Not only did the vice principal enjoy
tormenting Ruby, she enjoyed isolating ruby from the other students as

Why Did Godse Kill Mahatma Gandhi Research Paper
On January 30, 1948, Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi by shooting him three times
when Mahatma Gandhi was walking to evening prayers. Mahatma Gandhi headed the nonviolent
fight for independence of India from British colonial rule. Why did Godse, someone who revered
Mahatma Gandhi during the movement for Indias independence, murder Mahatma Gandhi?
To understand the most popular explanation for why Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, we need
to understand the historical perspective of this event. The date of Mahatma Gandhi s assassination
was about five months after India s independence and the partition of India. The partition was the
separation of India into two countries based on religion. Pakistan was designated the country for ...

Another interesting aspect of Godse s life that seems to be overlooked when explaining his
motives for assassinating Mahatma Gandhi is Godse s childhood experiences. Godse was
brought up as a girl for several years until his younger brother was born. He even had a nose ring,
which is called nath in Marathi. Even though his name at birth was Ramachandra, he was called
Nathuram because of his nath . He was brought up in his early childhood as a girl since his
parents had three sons who had died in infancy. In those days, the death of three sons in infancy
was viewed as a curse on sons. Since Godse s parents were very traditional and religious, they
raised Godse as a girl for a few years to lift the assumed curse. None of the sources list the age at
which Godse s parents started treating him as a boy, but it was before he turned nine years old
because Godse was nine years old when his second brother who lived into adulthood was born.
Godse s experience as a girl in his early years must have had a significant impact on his
personality. Sigmund Freud s psychosexual stages of development can be utilized to at partly
explain Godse s personality and later behaviors. Godse s personality development was probably
most affected during the phallic stage of Freud s psychosexual stages. The phallic stage occurs
between when a child is between the ages of 3 and 6 and children in this stage deal with
masturbation and

Modernization in Afghanistan and Iran
The process of Modernization in Afghanistan under King Amanullah Khan and Iran under Shah
Reza Pahlavi
The modernization process has been experienced in different ways by different countries that some
of them succeeded and some of them failed. Theoretically it has been defined as a concept in the
sphere of social science that refers to the process in which society goes through industrialization,
urbanization and other social changes (Zapf, 2004).Even there is no single approach toward this
process, evolutionism, diffusionism, structural functionalism, systems theory and interactionism as
well as other disciplines such as political science, economics, anthropology, psychology and others
are combined to be known as modernization theory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, Shah Reza s economic development was successful. In his arena economic development
began with the development of the transportation system. These developments included creation of
a network of railroads that connected Iran from north to south and from east to west by 1941. The
connection of Iran ports to inland cities leaded to encouraging trade between rural and urban
centers (Anon., Dec 1987)
Smilser s Theory :
Smelser have studied modernization theory in four steps attributed to the effect of economic
development on social formation. These four steps includes, move from simple to complex
technology, change of subsistence farming to cash crops, mover from animal and human power to
industrialization and an increase of urban based population Amanullah Khan s economic reforms
has not been able to meet some of the critiria s that Semels argue for economic development and
social formation. First, no transformation to complex technology happened. Second, he diminished
all arbitrary taxation system and announced a new taxation reform through which the formers were
obliged to pay their taxes in cash directly to the state. He replaced Rupee to a new Afghani
currency in order to boost Afghan Foreign exchange. Third, for the development of system of
commerce, he developed small industry policies (Saikal, 2004). But, the economy remained

I Am Requesting A Withdrawal From A Second Course
The main reason I am requesting a withdrawal from a fourth course is due to strong generalized
anxiety and its disruptive effect on my ability to function as a student. My issues with academic
anxiety have been an ongoing problem in my college career. I started seeing counselors as a student
in Washington University in St. Louis during the spring 2013 semester and have been continually
receiving intervention for my diagnosis since then. Due to anxietyand psychological difficulties, the
university granted my medical withdrawalfor the next semester so I could get a professional
diagnosis of my anxiety.
In order to have more support, I moved back to Jacksonville to stay with my parents and received
a professional psychological evaluation on May 2013 which confirmed that I struggled with
high levels of generalized anxiety, as seen by the provided documentation. Some early life
events have caused unpleasant subconscious feelings of fear and worry especially in regards to
school. Two of my three lower level course withdrawals here at UNF were taken during this
medical withdrawal period in fall 2013 as a transient student. I was trying to manage my anxiety
just recently having discovered my diagnoses and unfortunately had to withdraw from both Algebra
Based Physics and Calculus III. I was listed as a transient student and slated to return to my
previous institution, so I sadly did not report the reasons for my withdrawal being paralyzing
anxiety. I have been attending University

Importance Of Qualitative Research
1. Session: Introduction to Qualitative Research in Psychology
Qualitative research not only refers to the techniques used to collect and analyse certain data but
also to a field of research in itself. The different philosophical positions have in turn informed the
varied approaches to qualitative research.
As an exploratory type of research, it seeks to gather the in depth understanding of the behaviour
of a sample group. The personal opinion, values and experiences of them. It affords the
opportunity to observe the participants behaviour as well as allowing the researcher to delve into
the participants beliefs and really probe to obtain a greater detailed understanding of the issue.
Qualitative research techniques are flexible and normally conducted in naturalistic settings using
semi structured data collection methods as this accommodates the deviation to obtain that greater
depth of answer. There are different types of analysis used for example, Interpretive
Phenomenological Analysis, grounded theory, narrative, thematic and pattern based discourse
analysis.
Unlike quantitative research that use numbers as data and statistics, qualitative methods rely on
words and meaning. It seeks to understand the problem rather than quantifying it placing more
emphasis on subjectivity rather than objectivity.
Qualitative methods tend to use smaller sample sizes due to the personal form of research putting
the persons perspective at the centre of the work. The results are

Bilingual And Bilingualism
The world is unique and big. There are many different states, countries, and cities. Countries can
have a lot in common like relationships, food, and education. Countries can also have a lot of
differences like religions, beliefs, and languages. Languages may vary but is also very important in
communication and understanding. A huge epidemic that is becoming more common is
bilingualism also known as bilingual. Languageis a cognitive function that takes place in the brain,
bilingualism can improve brain function.
Broca s and Wernicke s area is located in the left hemisphere. Broca is responsible for the
muscles involved in word pronunciation within the frontal lobe. Wernicke is located in the
temporal lobe and is associated with a person s language compensation. Brain imaging MRI
studies have been conducted to view the activity of the brain during speech and hearing. Studies
that heard their native language being their first or primary language showed activation in the left
hemisphere as according to Broca s and Wernicke s area. People who knew American Sign
Language (ASL) or a second language had greater activity in the right hemisphere and sometimes
even the left and the right (Wilson, J., 2013). Children develop language according to an invariant
sequence of steps or stages (Shriner Shriner, 2014, 6.2 Infants par 2). At 12 months an infant will
begin echolalia and intonation then evolving to a vocabulary with over thirty words by 24 months.

Global Overpopulation And Its Effects On The Population
Global Overpopulation Controllable Or Inevitable Global overpopulation is an extremely broad
topic that represents exactly what one would think, the overpopulation of the entire globe. Though
global overpopulation is broad topic, there are many key factors that aid in the increasing total
population. Some factors are more effective than others, but the most altering factor is the
percentage of fertility. The direct connection between reducing the population is through pregnancy
rates. There are multiple ways that a women s pregnancy rate could be significantly reduced, by the
use of birth control. In the articles, Global Overpopulaton by Hobart Rowen and When Birth
Control Isn t for Birth Control by Karen Klein and How to Make Birth Control More Effective. by
Danielle Braff, these are great examples of how utilizing birth control will aid in the control of
maintaining and reducing the growing population rates. Including the possible results, if a solution
is not discovered and the population numbers continue to grow.
Human nature being what it is, most people tend to focus mainly on short term goals of enriching
themselves and experiencing pleasure rather than safeguarding the environment over the long term
(Kuo). This is a very enlightening quote, it states what many believe, but not willing to speak out
and support. In the article, Global Overpopulation includes numerous examples of rhetoric; the first
rhetorical element presented is ethos, which is the

Manufacturing Output Rises in the Us

Manufacturing Revolution . In the author s own words, The combination of lower energy prices,
innovative information technologies, and advances in robotics and materials science are powering
a manufacturing revolution that will reinvigorate the U.S. economy, (NaГm, Apr. 21, 2014). Bold
words considering the recent financial crisis and drama in the geopolitical arena, but is there
enough evidence to back his claims of this so called manufacturing revolution ? Several news
outlets are reporting gains in manufacturing operations such as increases in labor and use of factory

The Federal Reserve Bank assessed potential being used at factories, mines and utilities in the U.S.
reached 79.2 percent in March . Comparatively, the national average from 1980 until now is 79.4
percent (Chandra, Apr. 20, 2014). According to an article in Reuters, this is the highest capacity
utilization since June 2008. (Nawaguna, Apr. 16, 2014) Incidentally, as resources are used more
efficiently, manufacturing output will increase. Higher labor costs and allocation of factory space
are excellent indications that manufacturing output has indeed gone up within the United States.
However, I would not consider it a revolution by any means because most of the data suggests this
is only a gradual upward trend and hasn t changed any aspects of business. Although, if this
upward trend continues, we can expect more job openings, greater use of factory space, and more
made in the US products floating up around the markets of the world. Luckily, accountants aren t
paid to forecast so my essay ends here.

Assignment On The Aspects Of Clinical Decision Making
Assignment #2 Clinical Decision Making According to Mary Gillespie nurses do range of
thinking process before making a decision in the clinical settings. It is subjective and is made on
the basis of data collected by various assessments (Gillespie M. , 2014). This assignment gave us
opportunity to study and analyze a case study where we witnessed the effects of clinical
decision making directly on a patient s health. Through this case scenario we see the main
factors that influenced Kathy s clinical decision making are assessments, personal knowledge,
previous experience, collaborative practice, information from family, and most of all ethics.
Paterson s Frame Work in this Scenario The basic knowledge of the nurse helps her to make

  • 2. Texas Anti Marijuana Laws Should Be Banned Texas has had a long history of being a state that marijuana is smuggled into across the border with Mexico. The anti marijuana laws in Texas are some of the strictest in the United States with high fines and long prison sentences. Currently under Texas laws the possession of 2oz or less can result in 180 days in jail and or a fine up to $2000 dollars, as well as your license being suspended for 12 months. So why does Texastake a such a harsh stance against marijuana? Why does Texas keep throwing money on fighting a war on marijuana? How many more of our fellow Texans are going to have their lives ruined over using a plant that grows out of the ground. Through research I will show and explain how the current aggressive laws and policy against marijuana in Texas effects not only the users, but every Texan. The beginning of Texas anti marijuana laws can be traced back to the city of El Paso (Drug Policy ORG). Prior to 1914 Texas had no laws concerning the usage or sale of the plant, but then the stories of people using marijuana in Mexico and terrorizing people made their way to El Paso and the Deputy Sheriff Stanley Good. Deputy Good made it a personal mission of his to get El Paso to make the substance illegal. The whole basis of his argument is that immigrants from Mexico will come to the Untied States and use the drug and terrorize El Paso. At the time marijuana use was prevalent in the border towns by both Americans and Mexicans but nobody gave it any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Debt Driven Economy Not only is humanity continuously following a natural cycle on a grand time scale, but also smaller aspects of everyday lives follow a similar pattern. This poem relates the the cyclical nature of single human life to the cyclical nature of the economy. This poem demonstrates how the progression of life follows a pattern and how a smaller aspect, the economy, also follows a patterns that can relate to each other. Life A Debt Driven Economy As you get older, you come to understand the economics of age. You go through a cycle you see. When you were new , you had energy, You developed, a state of Growth. You reached your prime, Your life was booming, a state of Prosperity. You were young But eventually as time goes by, Your hair begins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This poem relates the cyclical nature of our economy to each individual life coming full circle. Throughout history, the economy booms and times become prosperous, such as the Roaring 20 s. However, the economy can go bust and ruin lives, such as the Great Depression, just as quickly. This illustrates how the loop of the economy and a human s life are related. This also shows that the balance in this universe cannot be broken or changed. This poem describes being young and having energy, which would be considered the upward swing of your life and the times of a developing economy. Then there is a state of prosperity where one reaches their prime, which would be being at the top of the circular swing and when the economy is booming. And then begins the process of having less energy, not being as prosperous, start of aging; all of which would be considered the downward swing and the economy going bust. And ultimately, death is the lowest point of the swing. This whole cycle then begins all again, but with another life this time. It is not surprising that if the timeline of humanity, then certain aspects such as the economy also follow the circular pattern too. This theme is a double edged sword. While it is comforting to know that rough times will not last forever and humanity will pull itself up, it is also depressing to know nothing good in life will always stay the same, it will eventually all burn down for it to be rebuilt ... • 6. Tampa Bay Stadium Case Study William Edwards, owner of the NASL Tampa Bay Rowdies is proposing a privately financed soccer stadium in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The Saint Petersburg entrepreneur seeks to construct an attractive, contemporary style stadium, for a possible MLS franchise. The site, where the historic Major League Baseball Al Lang Stadium sits, overlooks Tampa Bay, in Saint Petersburg. Edwards, at a team rally/news conference, indicated that he is in preliminary talks with the MLS to bring a franchise to the Florida Gulf Coast, in an 18,000 stadium. The Al Lang site would be renovated with the addition of 12,000 seats. The site is adjacent to the fine arts venue, the Mahaffey Theatre, which Edwards runs for the City of Saint Petersburg. Initial estimates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike Edwards private financing proposal, the Rays baseball club demanded public funding and expansion into the surrounding streets and into Tampa Bay. Many see Edwards stadium proposal an ideal fit for the downtown Saint Petersburg. It taps into the downtown aura without an intrusion and further elevates Saint Petersburg, Florida as a major league sports town. The proposed soccer venue would compliment the picturesque waterfront of the burgeoning Tampa Bay metropolis. While William Bill Edwards plans for the waterfront stadium is ambitious, it requires voter approval. Edwards, working with community leaders indicated he will not pursue a referendum on the project until he receives final approval for an MLS expansion team. Sports finance analysts estimate Edwards shelling out $150 million to the MLS for an expansion team. The figure could balloon even high as the MLS Orlando City franchise currently holds territorial rights to the Saint Petersburg location. If everything falls into place, Williams envisions the Saint Petersburg MLS franchise beginning play in 2019. MLS sees the Tampa Bay region as a viable market giving the rave reviews the region gets for lifestyle, culture, and weather. A voter referendum would occur in August 2017 at the ... • 7. Illustrations of Poly-Pharmacology in Dietary... One of the most explicit illustrations of poly pharmacology in dietary phyto nutrient is Curcumin. One can consider curcumin as an ideal candidate for preventive therapeutic action in cancer as a sole agent or in combination with traditional therapies, because of its ability to target multiple number of signaling pathways relevant to cancer [168,169]. One of the approaches for identification of polypharmacological chemical compounds is virtual screening of all potential molecular targets of interest for interactions with these chemicals [171]. Another approach to enable virtual screening of the receptorome attempts to generate a compendium of computational predictors (e.g., QSAR models or structure based models). Consequently, these constructed models can be employed in the virtual screening of chemical libraries for recognition of novel ligands for a panel of molecular targets and to predict polypharmacological matrices for these all chemicals incorporated in the chemical database. Finally, a database of models can be built by consolidation of these QSAR or structure based models. This database can be employed in parallel virtual screening of chemical compounds to indentify the interacting partners from all the pre characterized members of the receptor ome. Past research studies have successfully demonstrated that the generation of QSAR models and subsequent model based virtual screening of chemical libraries has led to the identification of chemically diverse ... • 8. Comparing Love In Inanna And Symposium Love s Contribution to Power in Inanna and Symposium The presence of love and power in intimate relationships is prominent in both the Inanna and the Symposium. Both texts contain examples of intimate relationships that lead to significant effects on the power of those in the relationship. The Inanna and the Symposiumboth illustrate that loveis the greatest possible catalyst for the attainment of power. Love provides individuals with attributes that in turn increase their power. This is illustrated through the courtship of Dumuzi and Inanna and through the speeches regarding love and the apprentice relationships that are found in the Symposium. Inanna s rise from a helpless girl to a powerful goddess is chronicled through the Inanna. She... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 52). Inanna never thought about traveling to the dangerous gates of the underworld before she gained her power. Her rise in power and dominance is notable when comparing her bold decisions as a goddess to her helpless behavior from the beginning of the text. Inanna s drastic gain in dominance is linked to her love life because it occurs directly after her courtship with Dumuzi. Before marrying Dumuzi, Inanna is still very needy and asks her brother Utu who will weave her bridal sheets for her and who will bleach them for her (pg. 31). Although Inanna is at first hesitant to marrying Dumuzi, once they are together, Inanna s sense of dominance and power increases. One example of her increased dominance is the instance when Inanna calls Dumuzi to bed instead of the other way around, saying The bed is ready! ...The bed is waiting! (pg. 42). This instance of Inanna s dominance is significant in relation to her power because it occurs in a Sumerian text where a patriarchal society was prevalent and a woman calling a man to bed would be considered taboo. • 9. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee In today s society, it is possible for a woman to achieve nearly anything; however, for a woman of yesterday s society, bringing world wide recognition to the many faces of prejudice is an accomplishment of its own. Author Harper Lee has had the honor to accomplish just that through her novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, a moving and inspirational story about a young girl learning the difference between the good and the bad of the world. In the small town of Monroeville, Alabama, Nelle Harper Lee was born on April 28, 1926. Growing up, Harper Lee had three siblings: two sisters and an older brother. She and her siblings grew up modestly. Even though money was not as much of a problem for her family as it was for others of their time, her father never did spoil her and her siblings. Lee and her brother attended a public grammar school in Monroe County, and Harper Lee continued to further her education after her high school graduation. She attended Huntingdon College for a year and then transferred to the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa where she studied law from 1945 to 1949. While she was at the University of Alabama, she was also an exchange student at Oxford University in England for a year. Harper Lee always had a passion for writing. She wrote articles and satires for her college newspaper. Months before completing her law degree, Lee moved to New York to pursue a writing career. • 10. Child Labor In India Child labor in India is causing human rights of children to be violated. Child labor is the illegal use of children in a business or organization. Child labor is inhumane and is a human rights violation because it takes away the childhood experience and forces them to do work that is harmful to their bodies and to their minds. In India, there are approximately 1.3 billion people and other problems in the country are making it hard for the government to find time to make a solution to illegal child labor. The child labor in India is the result of debt bondage from families, kidnappings, lack of education, and lack of government intervention. Debt bondage is a major contributing factor to illegal child labor in India. Debt bondage is when a family borrows a sum of money or takes a loan and sends someone to work with them to pay off the debt and interest. This system sounds good in theory, but has never really worked out because debt bondage occurs when a person needing money pledges his/her labor, or that of someone under his /her control as an exchange for the loan ( International Child Labor Study ). In some situations the interest on the loan is so high that it cannot be paid; in others, the laborer is deemed to repay the interest on the loan but not the actual money borrowed ( International Child Labor Study ). The loan being inherited and it ends up becoming a debt among many generations. Children are being dragged into this process and are being forced to go do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Contrasts between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s Romeo and Juliet There are many differences, large and small, between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s version of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. After seeing the first scene of both of these films, some notable contrasts became clear. The props used in both films differ greatly, in the 1967 version, very dated costumes were used, it looked like the director wanted a medieval style to be shown in the film judging by the costumes and props used. Real swords were drawn by the Capulet s and the Montague s as the play suggests but the fighting seemed quite unbelievable to a modern day viewer as did some of the stalls used in the small market surroundings.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scenery in each play also differs greatly; the 1967 version is set in a medieval village with castles and a small market. Again its age shows as the buildings and backdrops look quite fake against the modern scenery in the 1997 film. Good lighting is used in the older film but again the newer one has realistic effects and buildings and overall has better quality scenery. In both films, certain lines are missed out or changed slightly; I think the language used is basically the same but in the market it was hard at times to hear what exactly was being said over all the noise of the villagers. Although Luhrmann did a good job of bringing modern props into the film, the language used in play sounded odd coming from modern people, dressed in modern clothes at a petrol station. So I think the older film did a better job with the language despite the hearing difficulty in some parts. The Acting quality was good in both films, but I found the style in the early 1967 version was boring and the fight scenes were slightly unbelievable. The 1997 version was more exciting and kept u interested but there wasn t really much between the two films in the quality of acting. Finally I looked at the different camera techniques used, it was interesting to see that both plays had shots of the legs or shoes of one of the families, Zeffirelli shot ... • 12. Conditional Cash Transfer ( Cct ) Programmes Essay Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programmes are a form of social protection which provide modest monthly cash transfers to families with children. Cash transfers are conditional on families meeting the minimum requirements of regular school attendance and the use of preventive healthcare services. Although largely praised for their success, CCTs are criticised for using conditionality as a means of achieving the objectives to improve the capital accumulation of those living in abject poverty. Providing direct cash transfers to raise the income levels of the poor are a precursor to long term poverty reduction strategies. The conditional aspect of the CCT program assures the adequate investment of parents and children in improving the health and welfare of their family: a necessary aspect of breaking the intergenerational transmission of poverty. Brazil s CCT, Bolsa Familia targets the educationand health indicators of their beneficiaries in order to achieve human capitalaccumulation. • 13. Thermohaline Ocean Circulation Case Study 1.Thermohaline Ocean circulation are the ocean currents that are directed by density. The density in the water are altered by two factors; temperature and salinity. These factors emerge from the heating and cooling of the ocean s surface. The production of sea ice and evaporation increases salinity, while precipitation, runoff and sea ice melting reduce salinity. 2.If it is true that the glaciers are melting, then the ocean water in the Atlantic will become less dense and warm. There would be an extreme increase of fresh water. The freshwater entering the atlantic will dilute the salinity causing the water to become less dense. • 14. Eliminating Discrimination In The Workplace Essay examples As a business consultant I have been asked to suggest different methods that can possibly reduce discrimination and prejudice in the workplace. Is it possible however to make everyone get along and ignore their differences? According to the growing research on discrimination and prejudice, these are learned behaviors that with practice can be unlearned, and ultimately eliminated (Baron Branscombe, 2012, p. 195). Discriminationis defined as the negative treatment of different groups: Prejudice, on the other hand is viewed as the negative emotions or attitudes associated with discrimination (Baron Branscombe, 2012, p. 183). These two terms go hand in hand because they both can lead to racism; however, that is not suggesting that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2723). Many researchers agree that one seems to be closer or more cohesive to their own group and associate a sense of pride for each other; on the other hand, they tend to fear the out group because they are seen as the competitors, the enemies, and the traitors (Ramasubramanian, 2010; Baron Branscombe, 2012; Hirsh Lyons, 2010). Clearly this creates a disconnection between groups which make them feel a sense of threat for one another and prejudice feelings become more evident, while differences between the two appear. One of the most common theories that explain why prejudice persists today, as it relates to the workplace, is called realistic conflict theory (Baron Branscombe, 2012). This psychological theory states that prejudice is more frequent when competition arises in a situation where there are limited resources that only one group can claim (Bobo, 1983). However, since discrimination is a learned behavior as mentioned earlier, thus one can conclude that it can be socially influenced; therefore, behavior can be altered (Bobo Fox, 2003). With that being said, there are many methods and practices that can be used to reduce discrimination and prejudice feelings in the workplace between groups of different social status or authority (Dixon et al., 2010). These methods are recognized as interpersonal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Standardized Testing Are A Waste Of Time Essay Standardized Test Are a Waste of Time According to Diane Ravitch, Sometimes, the most brilliant and intelligent minds do not shine in standardized tests because they do not have standardized minds. Her point is that not every students mind operates the same way, so one test that all students must take does not measure the student s actually abilities. Across the United States, standardized testing is a popular method used to measure a student s academic ability and their college admission. These exams have multiple choice questions and sometimes a writing section, which the examiners must complete in a certain amount of time. Every year the tests get harder and harder, which causes anxiety in the students. Standardized testing does not measure the skills students have learned and their intelligence from school and life. • 23. Child Discipline Forms of Discipline: What is best for the child? Children are like flowers, if well taken care of they will bloom. If ignored or tortured, they will wither and die. Child discipline is one of the most important elements of successful parenting. Today, many people have this notion that physical abuse is in no way a solution to helping children discern between right and wrong. Since generations children have been taught the art of discipline through physical punishment. Often this approach to disciplining has resulted in two outcomes, one is where the child becomes more tolerant and is willing to adhere to what he/she has been told, or the other which more often results in children developing a sense of anguish and desire to revolt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today, there is a common misconception that spanking is a form of child abuse. Some parents are actually afraid to discipline their own children using the same method used for their own upbringing. Who is correct in the notion of right and wrong discipline? Is there such a thing as a correct way to spank your child? In my opinion, there is. So, my objective is to show that there is a fine line between the two terms Spanking and Child abuse. A Cambridge Dictionary states that Child Abuse occurs when adults intentionally treat children in a cruel or violent way. On the other hand, Spanking in the same dictionary means to hit a child with the hand, usually several times on the bottom as a punishment. In this way, the line between the two can be drawn where too much spanking results in bruises and scars on the child. Therefore, parents should not spank their children when they are angry themselves as the spank would turn out to be an unintentional smack. When this occurs, parents tend to accidently take out their frustration on the child. Primarily, this is when Spanking, a form of discipline, starts drifting towards the entire concept of child abuse . However, this misconception has led to many unwanted situations where parents have been sent to jail by their own children. In a general ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It can occur anywhere in the body and at any age (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013, p. 1144). All fractures follow the same mechanism and require similar care regardless of type or location. (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013, p. 1144) A fracture is classified by the severity of the break being either complete or incomplete fractures: A complete fracture is a break along the width of the bone resulting in the bone being separated into two sections. An incomplete fracture is a fracture that does not result in the separation of bone because the break is only partially through the bone. (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013, p. 1144) A closed (simple) fracture does not cause injury to the skin and, therefore, does not have any noticeable wound. This type of fracture still needs to be managed by stabilization of the bone and realignment if necessary. Open fractures are ones in which a portion of the bone breaks through the skin or a wound penetrates through to a fractured bone (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, 2011). Open fractures frequently involve more damage to surrounding tendons, ligaments, and muscles than in a closed fractures. They take a longer time to heal and are at increased risk for complications (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, 2011). A healthy well functioning couple consists of two people who not only love each other, but also hold a high level of respect and acceptance for one another. Even though his name at birth was Ramachandra, he was called Nathuram because of his nath . He was brought up in his early childhood as a girl since his parents had three sons who had died in infancy. In those days, the death of three sons in infancy was viewed as a curse on sons. Since Godse s parents were very traditional and religious, they raised Godse as a girl for a few years to lift the assumed curse.
