Fall Of Roman Empire Essay
Multiple aspects of Rome s economy led to the fall of what was once the most powerful empire in
the world. The Roman Empire was established in 27 BC, and it stretched throughout parts of
Europe, Africa, and Asia. Their economy, which was once the idealistic financial system for
countries worldwide, started to worsen. An empire, especially one as strong and powerful as Rome
s, cannot survive on an unstable economy. As finances, the work force, and diplomatic relations of
Rome started to decline, so did the country. In 476 AD, the Roman Empirecollapsed. The
deterioration of Rome s overall economy led to the fall of what was once known as The Capital of
the World. The finances of Rome played a key part in why the empire collapsed. Rome... Show

Anytime Rome had a problem with another country, the legions would engage in war with them
and usually win. Rome s strong fighting force enabled them to control almost anything they
wanted. However, it was not as easy with the Vandals. The Vandals were a Germanic tribe led by a
man named Gunderic. This tribe, which was highly dangerous, consisted of mainly farmers,
craftsmen, and jewelry makers. The Vandals launched their fleet out to the Mediterranean Sea,
eventually gaining control of many territories that used to belong to Rome, such as North Africa.
Gunderic had his hostile tribe raid coastlines and destroy every ship that crossed its path. The
Vandals stole gold, precious jewels, and more from countries around the world, including ones in
the Roman Empire. The Romans could no longer handle having the Vandals in their territories, so
they engaged in war with them. Surprisingly, the Vandals beat what was once the number one
fighting force in the entire world. In return for winning the war, the Romans gave the Vandals
permission to do whatever they wanted wherever they pleased. This disrupted the trade between
Rome and other countries, for the Vandals had war ships around many important ports and docks.
In addition, the Vandals were constantly raiding and stealing precious items, which made trading
with Rome very risky

Personal Computer Impact
Throughout history, new technology has always had an economic impact, each technology
differing in significance of impact. In some cases this impact may not be as drastic as it appears at
first glance, and in others, it may be more so. The personal computer, first introduced in 1975, has
certainly had an impact on the economy of the developed world in which it is, including the United
States. However, there are those out three who believe that the personal computerhas not had as
great an impact on economics in the United States as it would appear at first glance. The personal
computerhas certainly affected the economy, but the questions of How much? , and Who remain.
When the personal computer first came onto the scene in the 1970s, many companies tried to
jump into the new market. Some of the names involved are still familiar household names even
still today, but some failed in this new market quickly after joining. One name that is still easily
recognizable today is Apple. In 1976, Apple designed and released the Apple I. However, it wasn t
until 1980 that personal computers became affordable enough that they could be used at home. In
that year, Commodore released a personal computer that only cost consumers $299, which was
more affordable to the average consumer than previous computer prices had been. It is estimated
that by the end of 1980, there were around one million personal computers in use in the US. In
1993, Apple and Microsoft had become major players in

Diffusion And Osmosis Paper
Particles are moving atoms; thus they have a habit of moving from areas of high concentration to
areas of low concentration. This principle is divided into two classifications: diffusion and osmosis.
Diffusion is the movement of substances from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower
concentration and they become evenly distributed throughout both regions (Biology Department,
2015).Furthermore Osmosisis the movement of free water from an area of higher concentrationto an
area of lower concentration across a semi permeable membrane (Biology Department,
2015).Diffusionand osmosis regulate the quantity of solutes that are in the solvent from moving in
and out of the cell in aqueous solutions. Solvents are the disperse agents while solutes are the
disperse substances; these substances are able to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tonicity is the capacity of a nearby solution that causes a cell to gain or lose water; it relies on
the concentration of the solute that cannot pass through the membrane (Reece et al., 2014).A
hypertonic solution is when the solution has a higher concentration then the solute which causes
the water to move away from the cell which results in a shriveled cell. A hypotonic solution is
when the solute has a higher concentration than the solution which causes the cell to expand and
swell (Mao, 2008). Nevertheless an isotonic solution is when the concentration of the solute and
solution are equal. The category of the cell relies on the effect of osmosis on the cell. The
hypotonic solution will take up water if an animal cell is placed in the solution, which will cause
it to swell, gets larger and eventually lyse. For the Animal cells, leaning to die proceeded by
failing in keeping water and shrinking are the findings in the process of a hypertonic solution.
Nonetheless, when a plant cell is placed in

How Does Holden Caulfield Change
The change of Holden Caulfield
Holden s parents as it seemed in the book they didn t necessarily fill the large role of parenthood.
holden from a young age wasn t given all the attention he needed as a young child . his parents
loved him but just weren t present in his life because of the working obligations they had. We
can see this when Holden says and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were
occupied and all before they had me and all.. (Salinger 1). We can see a clear absence of his
parent s figures when he gets kicked out of boarding school and they didn t find out until he had the
mental break down. At this point, it is clear that Holden Caulfield has an underlying mental
condition. He failed out of four schools; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear to me that Holden has well I wouldn t say communication problems but very close to it.
I see that when he goes on the date with Sally Hayes it exhibited his difficulty at cooperating
with others. At first, he gives us a dire impression of Sally, I wasn t too crazy about her, but I d
known her for years. (slainger105) I see that holden doesn t want to necessary express himself
and suppress his feeling and affection to seem he is tough. I would implore holding to go out in
the world and act like how he really is and not to make a fake false persona of himself. Holden is
suspended between adulthood and childhood. Several of his actions and words show evidence of
his confusion between adults and children. Admitting to his immaturity, Holden says, I was sixteen
then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes I act like I m about thirteen. (Salinger 9) Sunny, the
prostitute is an example of Holden s attempt to be an adult, but realizing he is stuck in childhood.
You see my son is really trying to be someone he is not and I think that his school life has an
important role in that.
When holding attended pencey prep he always wanted to not be the one standing out see he
would join clicks so he wouldn t get bullied because my son is a pacifist. I would have to take
Holden out of school a probably homeschool him because I think interaction with high school
children is not necessarily right for him. I mean yes interaction is necessary but not in an
environment where 15 18 year olds feel like they rule. I understand that Holden has a strong
relationship with his sister so I would continue to make him interact with her and care for her

The Importance Of Learning English In The United States
I was born in Vietnam. I left Vietnam to come to United State with my family when I was about
12 years old. I was really young at the time. It was a long time ago because I am 20 years old
now. At that time, life for me was simple. I didn t have to worry about anything. I stop going to
school in Vietnam at grade five and stay at home for two years. It was really fun while I was at
home. When I was at home, my parent wants me to learn English. So I learned English in Vietnam.
When I got to United State, I started middle schoolat United for Success in Oakland. I start school

to learn English every day. After a while, I was able to understand and talk in English. This was a
big change for me. It was hard moving to a different country, where they speak a different
language. At the end of middle school, they gave me a trophy for an outstanding newcomer. I was
having high GPA in middle school. I then start high schoolin Skyline High School. When I get

Introduction
As manufacturers of high precision electronic test equipment, ABC Electronic Test Equipment is in
a highly competitive industry that is always looking for the most highly qualified and skilled
employees. Edward Lawler of the Center for Effective Organizations at the University of Southern
California, the author of many books on compensation, believes that employees value themselves
in relation to the market place and if a competitor were to offer higher pay it is likely that

Performance Based Strategy
Performance based pay strategy is a variable pay system which is intended to increase employee
productivity by rewarding employees based on their performance rather than paying based on the
time that an employee spends at work (Wisegeek). Due to the fact that performance based
employees have a vested interest in the success of the company their productivity is likely to
improve which can lead to the need for fewer employees to maintain production levels leading to a
reduction in labor costs to the employer. Studies have shown that time based employees only
produce 50 to 60 percent of the output of performance based employees (Atchinson).
Performance based pay plans are becoming increasingly utilized by companies across all
industries as they try to improve their productivity while limiting their costs and remaining
competitive. An effective performance based plan allows an employer to distribute some of the
financial risk and rewards of the business to the employees. The employer can keep base pay
compensation below the market average while still offering employees the opportunity to make
more money than what is offered at the high end of the market pay range. This leaves the employer
less vulnerable to fluctuations in the economic environment by lowering the fixed cost of wages
(Miller, 2011).
There are many ways to implement a performance based plan but all require that goals be set,

Political Influence In Elections
As indicated in Figure 1, there has been a strong increase in swing voters in UK general elections,
particularly since 2001. When considered in the context of valence issues, this could suggest that
since an increasing number of voters are likely to choose a different party from one election to
another, it is possible that an increasing number of voters are likely to be influenced by the valence
model of voting, that is, considering the competency of the different parties on the issues that are
important to them. This would then imply that issues are having an increasingly large amount of
influence on the way people vote, possibly to the extent that they have become more influential
than social class.

(BBC 2017) It is therefore very possible that a large number of people who voted UKIP in the 2015
election chose to vote this way simply because the issue of EU integration was important to them
and so chose to vote for a different party in the 2017 election because the other major parties now
covered this issue, as shown in Figure 3.
Figure 3 How those who voted UKIP in 2015 voted in 2010 and how they planned to vote in 2017
Source: Curtis, C. (2017).
If we take the voting intentions displayed in Figure 3 to be a correct indication of how voters
actually behaved at the polling stations, then it would be fair to say that around 64% of people
who voted UKIP in 2015 voted for a different party in 2017, with 37% of these former UKIP
voters choosing to vote for the Conservatives, possibly due to Theresa May s recent promises for
a hard Brexit . (The Guardian 2017). This would then imply that many voters are willing to
choose a party based on their stance on a particular issue even if this means selecting a party that
is not necessarily associated with one s social class, as shown in Figure 3 by the fact that former
Labour voters, after voting UKIP in 2015, chose to vote Conservative in 2017. If class

The Little League Event I Was Very Hot Day For Everyone
The little league event I was working at was very hot day for everyone. I received a call from
Helen regarding that she needed scissors to cut off zip ties that were holding a canopy that she
was told to bring back with Bryson. I had not been informed that Mr.Winn told our ambassadors
that he had sent them on their own to go pick up the canopy on their own, without supervision. I
was currently watching the game, while keeping my eyes on Amber and Dajah who were policing
people from coming inside the baseball area with outside food. When I went to give the scissors to
Helen and Bryson, I had notice that the gate was shut to enter the dugoutarea where they were
retrieving the canopy. I had asked them how did they get through the closed gate. They had told me
that they had climbed over to get to the other side. At that point when they told me, I felt very
concerned because they could have gotten hurt and I had not know where they were because
Mr.Winn had got out of his way to use his authority to have our ambassadors complete a task
without my supervision or by my word. I told Helen and Bryson to climb back over and not to
worry about the canopy anymore because it was to complicated for them to retrieve it. The
canopy was also broken and they were using sticks to hold it open. That is also an issue because
the ambassadors could hurt themselves trying to take down the canopy and no was there their to

On Two Friars
The first chapter of G.K. Chesterton s biography of Thomas Aquinas, Saint Thomas Aquinas,
entitled On Two Friars , compares and contrasts the two great friars: Thomas Aquinas and Saint
Francis. Chesterton describes just how vastly different these two friars were, while also remarking
on how similar they were at the very same time. Thomas was a man of reason and logic, whereas
Francis was a man of the wild and nature. Francis naturalism led him to the conversion of many non
Christians, as he believed that widespread Christianityis the main focus of the religion, whereas
Aquinas, the dumb ox, believed that we must first discover Christianity ourselves before spreading
it across the earth. Aquinas is described by Chesterton as being a dunce ... Show more content on

Francis used Nature much as St. Thomas used Aristotle; and to some they seemed to be using a
Pagan goddess and a Pagan sage, (Chesterton 29)showing just how different the two ideologies or
methods of the two friars are. Due to these differences in ideologies, different eras have taken
likings to the two different friars respectively. Chesterton himself describes that, Therefore it is
the paradox of history that each generation is converted by the saint who contradicts it the most,
(Chesterton 24) showing that each and every generation takes a liking to their own respective
philosopher. In the case of Assisi and Aquinas, Assisi took hold in the 19th century full of
imperialism, and Aquinas has taken hold in the 20th century, wherein we seek reason as we have
begun to divulge from reason. This search for a proper philosopher in order to fulfill ones needs
is common place for society, wherein we constantly want to grow or change who we are, and
ultimately the popularity of philosophers is influenced by their methods. As stated previously, both
Aquinas and Assisi used very different and often seemingly heretical ideas of Nature and Aristotle,
Chesterton even described them as Pagan goddess and a Pagan Sage, (Chesterton 29) showing just
how foreign and strange these ideas were to Christians of their

Richard Muhlfeld s His Quintet For Clarinet, 2 Violins,...
In his Quintet for Clarinet, 2 Violins, Viola, and Cello Op. 115, Brahms creates an important and
influential work in the chamber music repertoire. By writing his Quintet for the specific clarinetist
Richard MГјhlfeld s artistic brilliance, and by taking musical liberties with conventional forms and
expectations, Brahms crafts the intimacy and seriousness one has come to expect from chamber
music. Towards the end of his life, Brahms had intended on retiring from composing. Around 1891,
the Meiningen orchestra, with whom Richard MГјhlfeld held his career with, frequently featured
Brahms s music at well known festivals in the area. Previous to meeting MГјhlfeld, Brahms had no
interest in centering his writing onto the clarinet. He felt the... Show more content on

The Joachim Quartet concerts were known for being a major series performing strictly string
chamber music. Brahms had convinced Joachim with his manuscripts that the work was worthy of
the sacrifice of adding clarinet and piano to the series. The highly regarded reputation of the
Joachim concerts certainly allowed for the seriousness of the Quintet to be featured, for all of the
cleaver composition techniques Brahms employed were certainly appreciated by the intellectual
audiences the Quartet frequently attracted. The Quintet follows the general guidelines for form that
audiences of the time have come to expect from serious string chamber music pieces. The first
movement acts as a Sonata form with some unexpected variation, the second as a three part song
form. The third and fourth movements begin to some unconventional practices. In the third, instead
of a scherzo movement in 3/4 time, we get a sonata allegro in 4/4 and 2/4 time. In the fourth, the
audience gets a theme and variations, but the tempo is considerably slower than what one would
normally expect from a concluding movement. In 1891, the only memorable clarinet quintet was
composed by Mozart. If one were to come into a performance of the Brahms Quintet with Mozart s
Quintet in mind, they would expect the clarinet to take the most important role, with the strings
accompanying more often than not. This is certainly not the case in Brahms s work, as the

The Great Recession of 2008
Abstract
A recession is full proof sign of declined activity within the economic environment. Many
economists generally define the attributes of a recession are two consecutive quarters with
declining GDP. Many factors contribute to an economy s fall into a recession, but the major cause
argued is inflation. As individuals or even businesses try to cut costs and spending this causes
GDP to decline, unemployment rate can rise due to less spending which can be one of the
combined factors when an economy falls into a recession. Inflation is the general rise in prices of
goods and services over a period of time. Inflation can happen for reasons such as higher energy and
production costs and that includes governmental debt.

However, Sweden and the United States are also significant trading partners, with the U.S.
spending less and losing more jobs. As demand fell so did Sweden s export contribution to its
GDP, thus spiraling Sweden into a recession. Key interest rates began to fall in Sweden same as in
the United States due to the global financial meltdown. As the demand for loans diminish, interest
rates tend to decline as well (Schiller, 2010).
Dissimilarities of U.S. Recession and Other Nations
Although, Japan and Sweden had few similarities with those of the United States during the
Great Recession, there were dissimilarities that displayed the U.S. failure to achieve full
employment GDP and other factors. Japan s unemployment rate of about 4% opposed to the
U.S. unemployment rate of close to 10%. Even the financial debt to GDP ration is an advantage,
and debt in the private sector has not increased unlike the U.S. and European countries, (Time,
2009). In addition, since Japan is a huge exporter and with the U.S. demand going downward, the
international balances and growth declined especially as the dollar value dropped and the yen
surged. Unlike the United States, Sweden took a double hit as weak international demand for its
products and interest rates at home GDP contracted by 0.4% down, according to Sweden Real
Estate (2010). Sweden s home prices keep rising while the U.S. home prices had plummeted.

The Effects Of Drinking Water On Water Quality
Drinking water is a simple idea but such a hard process to master. The water in our lakes and
rivers is not safe to drink due to the toxins from vehicles, industrial plants, and natural sources. It
is sad how much we take drinking water for granted. In many countries around the world, they
do not have easy access to drinking water like we do here in America. In today s society, when
we receive water from a lake or river, it must be treated and cleaned before people can drink it.
The drinking water quality has three main properties that give its ability to clean and be able to
drink that will not get people sick. These three properties include the chemical makeup, physical
properties, and the biological properties of the water quality. The first step of improving the water
quality is by using chemicals to clean and get rid of the toxins that might be in the water. Water is
a made up of many different chemicals. According to (Scatena 2000), as water across the landscape,
it interacts with its environment through a variety of chemical processes, during these processes it
picks up transported dissolved gases, cations and anions, amorphous organics, trace metals, and
particulates. Dissolved Gases are the most abundant on the earth in water. Aquatic life depends on
the dissolved oxygenin the water to live but it also effects the color, taste, odor and chemistry.
Natural organic compounds consist of plant and animal tissue and the products of decomposition.

Revenue in Print Media
REVENUE IN PRINT MEDIA
Print production is measured on its quality, timeliness and effectiveness, whether it s a brochure or
packaging or a magazine advertisement. But when something in the production process goes
wrong, it can not only cause delays but also increase cost and impact quality. The challenge for print
buyers is to manage print jobs efficiently through procurement and production while guaranteeing
consistent quality and on time in budget completion. This requires specialized expertise.
Digital technology is increasingly competing with print media by opening access to endless
sources of news. It may now seem that the need of the reader to buy a newspaper for news and the
need of the advertiser to advertise in it, is slowly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern newspapers must be compact, a less is more approach would help cut newsprint, printing,
distribution and other costs that do not add to the journalism.
As for the revenue to sustain print media, it will have to come from a high degree of integration
between the static and the dynamic mediums. For example, a dynamic browser tool bar may
aggregate news from different sources, allowing not only targeted advertising but also for charging
micro payment from readers.
In the true sense of the word no two media can be rivals. New technology rarely replaces the
previous technology completely. As both print and digital media is completely dependent on
computers for their production process it would be easy for both to be complementary to each
other. The wise perspective would be one of digital and print media rather than digital vs print
media.
The economic downturn has thrown up a challenge and an opportunity for the print media to
transform itself.
Costs involved in production of print media :

After reviewing the Kudler Fine Food network, a major network overhaul will need to bring the
network up to par with the latest technology. If Kudler Fine Foods is not able to upgrade their
systems then they will fall behind the technological curve and will not be able to compete with
other companies. Kudler needs to do the upgrade not only to keep up with the advances with
network systems but needs to install the proper systems to increase profits. If Kudler does not
do constant upgrades then they will be forced to pay a larger amount for the larger upgrades in
the future. It is vital to install the proper systems that will have the longevity and the capability
for future network expansion without having to spend money on unnecessary upgrades.

Resurging China s Power In The US
Throughout most of history, East Asia and more specifically China has been the cradle of
civilization. Only until a few hundred years ago did China and most of the developing world
today regress into the states they have been for the past several hundred years. For the past 100
years the US has been the world s most powerful country, economically, militarily, and culturally;
however China is resurging and is now in a position that is equal and perhaps greater to the US s

The Republican Party And The Democratic Party Essay
The Republican Party has long relied on the support of older, white, conservatives. Regrettably,
they are a shrinking portion of the voting population. The problem that they face is a shrinking
voter base, mainly due to age. As their electorate shrinks, it is imperative for the party to appeal to
the more liberal younger generations for support. The Republican Partyneeds to look forward to
true reform. Above all, the party needs to abandon much of their social conservatismto appeal to
millennials interests to stay relevant on the national political scene.
David Frum offers four potential solutions for where the Republican party can go from here. He
himself believes that the first two considerations of doubling down on elite backed candidates or
tactical concession on immigration are unhelpful and too narrow respectively. Therefore, his most
confident considerations are in his third and fourth options. His fourth choice to keep the
Republican party relevant is, in his words, to change the rules of the game. (Frum 2016) Parties
are in favor of processes that help advance their (or limit the other party s) political and
ideological goals. Frum recognizes that outside of the presidential election, Republicans have done
quite well on down ballot elections. For this reason, they have the ability to exert considerably
more control over voting and election processes than Democrats. For example, having the ability to
gerrymander as well as change voter registration rules

Raymond Blanc, OBE is a French born chef who has made his career in the United Kingdom and
has revolutionised modern French cuisine. Blanc was born on 19 November 1949 in Besançon,
a city in Eastern France, making him now 64 years old. He began cooking when his father gave
him a colander and a vegetable foraging guide for his 10th birthday and whatever he could manage
to find in their garden and surroundings, his mother the inspirational Maman Blanc would teach
him to cook. His mother believed in cookinghealthy, local, fresh produce which was full of
goodness and love and this inspired both Raymond and his two sisters to follow with this trend.
Blanc is completely self taught and has never received official**l culinary training in any form.
During Blanc s first job in a restaurant, he criticised the head chef for his lazy cooking and thus had
a pan thrown at him which broke his nose and jaw he also got fired for this. In the year 1972,

The Audit Of Financial Statements
Introduction and Motivation
The audit of financial statements is mandatory for publically listed entities throughout the world.
The auditor conducts various tests and based on the results forms an opinion on the truthfulness and
fairness of the financial statements of the company and whether or not they are prepared in
accordance with the financial reporting standards and are free from any material misstatement
(Freedman, 2013). The purpose of auditing is to enhance the confidence of investors and to add
credibility to the truthfulness of company s true financial performance. However, there are some
dos and don ts that an auditor must take care of. For instance, anything that threatens the
independence of the auditor must be avoided as it adversely affects the truthfulness and objectivity
of the opinion formed.
History raised questions about Australian rules concerning the independence of auditors and its role
in contributing to the corporate collapse and the collapse of HIH insurance ltd (Ramsay, 2001). It is
believed that if auditors had been objective in formulating their opinion on the statements or
highlighted the risk of going concern of the firms, situation could have been handled better. Possible
reason for auditor being unable to detect future threats here might be lack of independence from the
auditing client.
Independence of the auditor from the client means independence of mind and appearance. The five
major threats to independence of an auditor include

Habermas Theory Of The Public Sphere
Having examined and defined mass media and the contemporary democracy it is important
however to consider Habermas theory of the public sphere.
Habermas defines the public sphere as a realm of our social life in which something approaching
public opinion can be formed. Access is guaranteed to all citizens (1974, p.49). It is Habermas
theory that the public sphere helps to facilitate the rational communication of public affairs
independently from the government and state.
Similar to the paragraphs on the mass media and contemporary democracies Habermas himself
backs up the point of the mass media negatively affecting the democracy.
He argues that commercialised media in the new public sphere have turned the public sphere into
a place where advertising is prioritised (Habermas, Lennox and Lennox 1974). A point that backs
this theory up is the way the mass media influences television in a political way, as it is
deteriorating the public sphere (Hart,1994). This opinion is key in the context of explaining the
public sphere theory as it helps to highlight a key point in the modern democracy.
Harts opinion highlights one of the main tools of influence within the mass media, news
organisations influence the audiences view point through what they broadcast on their television
channels.
(Quoted in Papacharissi, 2010, p.232) Habermas (2004) suggests that main stream media content
have colonized the public sphere and compromised rational and democratic public discourse. This

The Free Will in Meditations on First Philosophy by Descartes
I
In Meditations on First Philosophy, Descartes takes the reader through a methodological exercise in
philosophical enquiry. After stripping the intellect of all doubtful and false beliefs, he re examines
the nature and structure of being in an attempt to secure a universally valid epistemology free from
skepticism. Hoping for the successful reconciliation of science and theology, Descartes works to
reconstruct a new foundation of absolute and certain truth to act as a catalyst for future scientific
research by showing that a mathematical [rational objective] physics of the world is attainable by
creatures with our intellectual capacities and faculties (Shand 1994, p. ... Show more content on

The will, at its most basic, consists in saying yes or no to ideas or propositions. Descartes adopts
the position that the free will is independent of the deterministic and fundamental laws that govern
matter. Human behavior is neither dictated by mechanical compulsion, nor persuaded or coerced
by God, nor influenced by any external force to act in a predetermined manner. Descartes, in a bold
stroke, proclaims the divine grace of God along with natural knowledge actually increases and
strengthens human freedom, as opposed to restricting its effectiveness.
As a thinking entity, Descartes is a consciousness mind aware of the potential to engage in various
modes of existence. To the numerous operations of thought he includes doubting, understanding,
affirming, denying, willing, refusing, imagining, and sensing. As varied and manifold as these
operations appear, they are but expressions of two principal types of conscious activity, to which
Descartes eventually traces the nature of error. Thinking and reasoning, together with all belief in
general, depend upon the operation of the twin faculties knowing and choosing, or the free will.
Garrett Thompson writes:
Descartes divides all thoughts into two kinds: ideas

How Did Chinese Culture Influence The Qing Dynasty
From the Shang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, Chinese culture had influence to neighboring and
some distant countries, at the same time China also transformed by other influence. One of the
dominating traditional belief with which China interacted with the world was a vassal or tributary
formation. It basically believed itself to be the center of civilization and other small states as
tributaries or vessels like a river with small tributaries. It was essentially an arrangement under
which all types of contracts between the Chinese and non Chinese states were practices to put in
place a structure that diplomatically allowed Chinese values and beliefs to develop (Sen and Nair

La Tomatina Research Paper
The holiday, La Tomatina, is a tradition that has gone on for generations. Spain is the main country
that celebrates it every year, but tens of thousands travel from all parts of the world to participate
in it. La Tomatina means tomato festival , and is very self explanatory from its definition. On the
last Wednesday of August, people throw over ripe tomatoesat one another the entire day, leaving
people drenched in tomato carnage, but in utter happiness as well. In all, more than 100 metric
tons of tomatoes are used in the festival! It is quite questionable of how such a holiday came to be.

As most would have assumed, tomatoes are eaten during the festival and are prepared in many
ways (simmered, fresh, crushed). Tomato sauce is also served with entrees such as eggs or any
kind of meat. There are even paella cooking contests, and a palo jabГіn , an event in which brave
participants climb a greased wooden pole all the way to the top, where there will be a leg of
ham. The street fight with tomatoes will only begin after these two events. There are some
specific rules to follow when having a gigantic food fight with tomatoes. For one, objects cannot
be thrown that could cause harm to others. This includes the tomatoes, which may only be
thrown if they are soft or crushed. People during the festival wear rugged and/or dirty clothing,
and another rule states people cannot tear or rip clothing to throw tomatoes at someone. Despite
the number of rules that need to be followed, the festival is still very fun. The food fight occurs
between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. At the beginning of the food fight, trucks haul all the tomatoes
into the town, which are paid for at an inexpensive price. The firing of water cannons signals the
beginning of the festival, which is typically every man for himself . After a few hours, the festival
will end and no tomatoes can be thrown. As this point, fire trucks spray down the streets to clean
them. The people, unsurprisingly, quickly go to wash themselves (there

Unit 024 Essay
Unit 024 Promote child and young person s development
1.1. When assessing development some factors need to be taken into account one of these is
confidentiality, this means that you will need permission from a child s parents/carers before doing
observations, also when information is wrote down about a child is important that it is kept in a
safe place were only the relevant people can access it. Also making sure that information about a
child is only shared with parents/carers or colleagues and professionals that have the right to know.
Another factor to take into account is a child s wishes and feelings, this means to take into account

And also children may be rehearsed and show better behaviour. Filming For: More information
can be gained as visual nature and sound is used. Against: Children may know they are been
filmed and not act themselves or change behaviour or way of play. Also the observer chooses when
to record and this time may not be the typical of that child. Sound recording For: The child s
intonation and speech pattern can be accurately recorded. Against: Child may be aware that they

child acts. Information from parents and colleagues For: Other colleagues or parents may see the
children involved in different situations or activities. Against: Parent or other colleagues may be

2.3 Inclusive and person centred approach means that anything involving supporting or planning
for that person means they should be involved were possible. When planning for a child it should
be taken into consideration what is best for the child and also how it might involve or engage the
child. This means when planning for a child it is important that we do not segregate them from
others and think of ways in which we can involve others or ways to adapt a activity so that the area
of development that needs support can be incorporated. I implement this in my own work by
looking at an individual interests, and then when choosing or planning an activity I involve these

Political Office Campaign Marketing
With the ongoing growth in social media usage and other technological advances, the needs for
marketing and financial strategies in business endeavors are more important than ever before.
These endeavors also carry over to political office campaigns. While the purposes of financing and
marketing have greatly changed over time, their importance is at an all time high for these
campaigns. In order to run a successful political office campaign, one must also have a successful
marketing and financing campaign as well.

Why Eddie Van Halen is an Influential Musician Essay
There are certain musicians that come along that shift a culture, attitude, or future musicians.
Another musician that went on influence future generations and considered one of the greatest
guitar players in the world is Eddie Van Halen. Eddie Van Halen was born in Holland in 1955
and immigrated to Pasadena California. At the age of seven, Eddie was training as a classical
pianist, although his love for Rock and Roll was developing. He started working a paper route and
used the money to buy a drum set. His brother Alex, also musically inclined, bought a guitar. After
months of practicing, Alex and Eddie switched instruments. Alex would spend hours on Eddie s

A little later, Eddie heard Michael Anthony on the bass and thought that he was perfect for their

let David Lee Roth be the front man, mainly to save the rent money on the PA system. David Lee
came on board and thought the brother s last name sounded cool, and the rock group Van Halenwas
born. On one particular show, Gene Simmons from Kiss caught Van Halen at the local gig. He
offered to help them out. Gene Simmons flew Van Halen to New York to tape a demo and
introduced them to the Kiss production management. They had no interest in Van Halen citing
that there was no commercial value to Van Halen, so the band went back to their local gigs in
California. During a show in Hollywood, Warner Brothers records representative Ted Templeman
saw their act and signed them less than a week later for a record deal with the Warner brother s
label. They headed out on the road immediately and caught up with Warner Brothers headliners to
open their shows. The other groups were not very pleased with the band, especially when Van
Halen started getting better reviews. Van Halen was then off to England to open for another band
that Eddie idolized, Black Sabbath. Ozzie was so impressed with the band that he admitted that
Van Halen was outplaying Sabbath. At least that is what Ozzie said according to the Van Halen
camp.

Whoso List To Hunt I Know Where Is An Hind Poem Analysis
Close Reading Exercise: Whoso List to Hunt, I Know Where is an Hind
1. In the poem Whoso List to Hunt, I Know Where is an Hind written by Sir Thomas Wyatt, in my
opinion, the most appropriate meaning of the word hind is the female of the deer, esp. of the red
deer (Oxford English Dictionary Online).
2. Using hind as a metaphor to a charming lady who is flirty but hard to approach is the central
metaphor of this poem. In this sonnet, Sir Thomas Wyattalmost applied this metaphor throughout
the entire poem. The language from line 1 to line 10 seems to focus on the activity of deer
hunting: the speaker is attracted by a female deer and chases the deer from far behind, but he is
exhausted and gives up as the deer flees; however, the use of she and her in these lines may be a
suggestion of a metaphor. The last four lines then revealed the speech of using hind as a metaphor
for lady by adding the components of diamonds , her fair neck and for Caesar s ; thus the readers
could understand the real intention that hidden under the speaker s metaphor by comparing the
similarity of a female deer and a fair lady: both are beautiful but wild. ... Show more content on

speaker s feeling of helpless and bitter by giving up the effort of pursuing. The rhyme of lines 5 8

rhyme in lines 1 4; however, visual rhymes appear in the two words mind and wind , which stands

Source Code Essay
There are several definition of source code, which makes regulating it difficult because different
regulators may have varying conceptions of just what it is, and as a result, what kinds of rules
should attach to it.
The general definition of source code that most people acknowledge is the version of software as it
is originally written by a human in plain text (Source Code). According to this definition, code is
written by humans in order to create software, which can be any operating system, program or
data with a processor. The average person can see that the source code would be the code that the
software needs in order to function. This is source code but source code is also much more.
Another definition states holds that source code is any fully executable description of a software
system. It is therefore so construed as to include machine code, very high level languages and
executable graphical representations of systems (Harman). At first glance, it seems just like the
other definition. However, it only seems that way because we automatically apply the assumption
that the executable description is the same as the version of software which may not necessarily
be the case. The description leads us to believe that the source code does not necessarily have to
run the software but can just be a description for said software. The first definition leads us to
believe that the code is that specific software. The second definition also mentions machine code

Constantine the Ruler of the Roman Empire
Constantine the ruler of the Roman Empire had been surrounded by many controversies during
his reign (Cameron, 14). He was the son of a great warrior and he defeated Manutius a great ruler
at Milia Bridge. He had gained much respect and admiration among the Romans as a fair ruler. He
emerged as a ruler who supported Christianityand then became popular as a Christian ruler himself.
His reign and victory over the Roman Empireis a significant event in the history of Christian
religion. With the Edict of Milan in 313 Christianity was recognized as a religion, and the
followers were free to practice Christianity without fear. It has been argued that Constantine failed
to treat different religions equally as paganism (Cameron, 57). Constantine also sponsored
churches, promoted Christians to high government ranks, exempted taxes for the clergy. In the
latter days of his rule Constantine had a stricter approach towards Christianity and professed that
there is one God, the Christian God. He rewarded building temples into churches. He played a key
role in framing important church policies namely The Council of Arles, A.D. 314 and The Council
of Nicaea, A.D. 325.
Constantine, however faced much challenges after he legalized Christianity. Christianity had been
divided into different churches and their views. Constantine is also responsible for the creation of a
universal church. Constantine presided over the First Ecumenical Council held at Nicaea to resolve
the Arian Controversy.

A Time To Die Analysis
The following will serve as part review, part confessional. I started this book two years ago this
month. I began reading A Time to Die after reading a recommendation from a friend of mine. I
began reading it, hoping for a book that would immediately hold me captive and not release me

Well...
The book held me captive, but not in the way I was expecting. I saw much of Parvin in myself.
Reading this book, written in first person present tense, was like experiencing a dream. Parvin was

left it for two years.
I have been following the author on Facebook and her blog during these past two years and she
impressed me with her intentionality in the way she interacts with her readers and followers. Her
posts are a shining light in the cynical, angry world of Facebook. One of the central themes in A
Time to Die is the idea of bringing God s Shalom or a peace that comes from living the way God
intended. This is not simply something she wrote about for her story, she is very active about
living it out in her blogging and Facebook posts.
I have been blessed by this girl s shining light, and it was because of this that I finally decided to
finish the book. There were some challenging moments, as I felt my own character developing
right alongside Parvin s. This book contains some perplexing characters with very flawed thinking
and I understood her frustration as she struggled to reason with them. There were also beautiful
moments, as the events and interactions which pushed Parvin s (and my own) comfort and world
view made way to show God s incredible love for His

The Wonder behind The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank...
The Wonder behind The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Often, people who enjoy reading are found
disappointed by the film versions of their favorite books. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L.
Frank Baum and The Wizard of OZ movie produced by Vincent Fleming serve as a good
example of a distorted transition from text to film. While the novel was originally created to
teach that anything is possible with hard work and is a straightforward children s book, the film
tacks on many unintended morals, further changing the stories meaning. While which one
preferred is only an opinion, adapted aspect s of the novel including the reality of Oz, Kansas,
and Dorothy s characterization each alter what the story was meant to be, which was an
innocent fairytale. In the film, Dorothy travels to Oz by being sucked into a cyclone and then
landing in the middle of a magical realm. Once the novels reaches it s ending, Dorothy wakes up,
having bumped her head, revealing that Oz was nothing but a dream all along. In the novel Oz
is a real place that Dorothy travels to and from. This idea is much more exciting for the audience
and especially children because it makes the story line more believable, allowing them to get lost
in their imagination. Culver states, Baum s text describes a different relation between fantasy and
reality and how his Dorothy doesn t try to run away and isn t dreaming but it merely confronts by
accident a fantastic world contagious with and just as real as ¬¬Kansas . This

The Therapeutic Potential of Genistein for Obesity Linked Cancer First Author1, Second Author2
(14) 1(Department, College/ University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) 2(Department, College
/ University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) Abstract: With obesity and cancer being a global
issue, this review will be focused on linking genistein s ability to simultaneously treat both related
diseases. Extensive studies have been done on genistein as a therapy for diabetes and obesity, but
not enough has been researched in its effect on obesity associated cancer. Obesity linked cancer
arises at a cellular level due to adipocytes ability to release hormones and growth factors
(adipocytokines) inducing carcinogenesis. Varying levels of adipocytokines, including leptin and
adiponectin, can promote the development of metabolic disorders such as cancer and diabetes.
Therefore the most effective treatment is to target the molecular pathways that link obesity to
cancer. Genistein is known for its anti cancer effects and inhibition of adipocyte enlargement and
differentiation. This can serve as a targeted therapeutic drug that can concurrently treat cancer and
obesity. This review will cover four parts to support the promising effects of genistein: obesity and
cancer, dietary anticancer agents, clinical significance, and future directions. Keywords genistein,

early 1900s to refer to extremely shy patients. In the 1960s, Isaac Marks proposed that social
phobias may be separated from the other simple phobias and in the second edition of the
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, social fears were described as specific
phobiaand the definition was very narrow (Cunic). In the later editions of the DSM, they made
many revisions to the criteria for the disorder. They added that it was the fearof performance
situations, the symptoms must interfere or show distress, and they changed the same from social...

Both face severe anxiety, but for different reasons. The symptoms while having the anxiety are
similar which is why they can be confused. When people have attacks in panic disorder, they feel
that they experienced it because something is physically wrong with them. For example, they may
feel as if they are having a heart attack. They believe that their anxiety and attacks are related to
something physical. People with social phobia do not believe that their anxiety is related to
something physical. Another difference between the two is that people with panic disorder tend to
be very social. People with social phobia will not develop agoraphobia, fear of having another panic
attack, but may develop avoidant personality disorder, people cut themselves off from the world
in fear of others and social interactions. The same goes for panic disorder. However, both may
turn to alcohol and substance abuse to reduce the anxiety. To differentiate between the two, the
source of the anxiety needs to be determined. If it is a fear of a physical condition, than it is panic
disorder. If it is a fear of social interaction than it is social

Life After Death Analysis
A picture is worth a thousand words. Every person has heard, been told, or even read this quote.
There are those images that attract the eyes immediately with its abstract features and colors. Then
there are the pictures with deep, symbolic messages trying to persuade. However, some images are
made specifically for the purpose to promote someone or a product, and they usually use methods
that guarantee will either be controversial, or popular. For example, in the music industry, the main
purpose is to stand out. One of the music bands that always stand out are Iron Maiden. Derek Riggs,
the artist of most of the band s artwork, created the famous album artwork: Life After Death in
1985. Many people can see the relation of the dark theme album to the band s dark, heavy rock
music. Derek Rigg was inspired mainly by the main mascot of the band, which is a skeleton,
named Eddie. It is presumably rising from the death, or from its grave with the headstone reading,
Edward T H : the mascots full name. The visual analysis includes the complex forms and colors that
surround the dark theme. The colors, setting and tone are the most essential when it comes to the
final understanding of what the image wants to portray.
The main colors of the artwork Life After Death are the complimentary blue and yellow. There is
no other colors, however, the artwork looks like it is full of life and strangely, colorful. The main
background color is blue, that fades into a few shades darker as the

Ted Bundy Case
Criminal Case Study Theodore Bundy, also known as Ted, was born on November 24, 1946 in
Burlington, Vermont to Eleanor Cowell who secretly was ashamed. Eleanor was a 22 year old
single mother whose parents were very religious and humiliated of Ted. After Ted was born,
Eleanor brought him to her parents who lived in Philadelphia, where he was raised as the
adoptive son of his grandparents. This led to his real mom being called his sister. A few years
later, Eleanor and Ted moved to Tacoma, Washington where Eleanor married Johnnie Bundy in
1951. As far as everyone knew, Ted grew up in a working class, Christian familythat cared and
loved for him.
Ted was a shy, bright kid who did very well in school, but not as much with his peers. Around the
age of three Ted had caught an interest in knives and as a teenager he would walk around at
night looking for discarded pornography or open windows to view women through. He attended
the University of Washington where he fell in love with a pretty young woman who had long,
dark brown hair and was from California. She had wealth, class and influence, which was all Ted
wanted. They broke up and Ted was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

through the hole and it took the police 15 hours to find out that Ted was missing from his cell.
By then Ted was long gone, heading to Tallahassee, Florida. On January 14, 1978, Ted broke into
the Chi Omega sorority house at Florida State University. He attacked four young students, killing

Neanderthals Argument Analysis
Up until about a week ago, I never realized Neanderthals were real species. Yes. I have been in
this world for thirty years and never put any real thought into this topic. It s safe to say I will not
describe my teenage son acting like a Neanderthal. The Neanderthals and Homo sapiens were alike

The Awakening Personality Traits
In Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, the main character, Edna Pontellier, has three distinct
personality traits that define her throughout the book. One of her most perceptible traits is her
irresponsibility, especially in how she cares for her children and husband. Related to this
peculiarity, is her capacity to behave childish, particularly in terms of how she allows her emotions
to sweep her away as well as her inability to think about the potential consequences. Her most
prominent personality trait the one that forms the backbone of the conflict, is Edna s eagerness to
defy society and the roles given to women. These traits are consistent throughout the novel and
while the characterdoes change by the end, these aspects never disappear. The main conflict in The
Awakening is a woman s needs to have the right to act herself and live independently... Show more

In fact, the ending is tragic partly because she was not able to learn to balance her responsibilities,
her desire for freedom, and how to control her childishly behavior. When she walks into the ocean
and commits suicide because she realizes that she cannot make any compromises in her personality.
This ending is so surprising because generally at the end of a novel, the main character has learned
something or had an epiphany and sacrifices a negative personality trait as a result, however, in The
Awakening, this does not occur. the main protagonist, Edna undergoes a significant change in
behavior, attitude and overall character throughout the novel. Edna becomes more aware and
examines the private, unvoiced thoughts that constitute her true character. Edna s self was
noticeably ambivalent for its time: She is neither a brave women nor a fallen victor, her rebellion
is motivated more by the self centered desire to fulfill her whims and wishes than to battle for a
great cause larger than

Rhetorical Analysis Of LGBT Discrimination And The Advocates
Losing rights for being one s self
Even though fellow Americans use the constitution as an excuse to discriminate against LGBT
peoples and women because of their freedom of speech, the civil rights act should protect all
LGBT communities and women. John Oliver s LGBT Discrimination and The Advocates The
Equality Act is Necessary demonstrates that all Americans should be treated as equals and not
discriminated against because of Color, Race, Sex, or National Origin.
Have you ever thought that progress would move backwards? Even though the gay rights
movement is gaining back the respect and rights of gay people, it should go even further than that.
It should include all peoples of the LGBT community. The movement started in the mid 1960 s and
is still continuing today, but very gradually. John Oliver s LGBT... Show more content on

My Passion In Life
Passion is an emotion that human beings cannot control, it leads many down paths they never
thought they would go down. I loved football as it became a vessel to unleash anger and stress,
but that passion for that game came crashing down during sophomore year. That summer
continued to have its struggles, but it continued to improve as football season was about to begin
and I could not be more ready to start a new season. However, that dream season never came for
me as on one of the last days of summer, I learned my dad wanted to have hip surgery. A very
intense operation that my dad would need my helpto come back as a new man. Which, seems like a
good opportunityfor my dad, but for me, it was the end of a passion that I thought I needed to be
able to continue to obtain happiness and enjoy life. I remained worried. I remained dejected. I
remained upset. All those feelings and anger were for naught as my willingness to succeed and try
new activities turned my dad s surgeries into a whole new world of opportunities for me to explore.
The first opportunity I went after was my long lost love of music that I ignored for so long. I
walked into choir class terrified and afraid about what others would think of me being in choir
class. That class is gay. Why would I be in a dumb singing class? That went away so quickly that I
don t even remember not love going to a class more in my entire life, I practically run to that class
every day. To be able to have a class that I look forward

Finding A Mentor For This Project Essay
Entry 1: Finding a mentor for this project was not too difficult. Despite finding a mentor,
scheduling with my mentor was actually the hardest part. The funny thing about this, is fact that
my mentor is my father. I see him everyday and scheduling is still difficult. I can only imagine
how tough it is for others doing this project. To find, associate and make plans with people they
don t even know. Well anyway I want to be a PoliceOfficer. Many of the stories my father had told
me and continues to tell me is very interesting. His experiences inspired me to become one myself.
I was told stories about many different criminals from someone J walkingto being involved in a
homicide. This job seems like the least boring job( depending where you work) someone can be
apart of.
Entry 2: On Saturday Novemeber 4th I had just got home from the gym. I walk in my house
grabbed a towel and headed straight for the shower. It was ride along day with my father. Dressed
and ready to go. We get in the car and headed to my mentor s field. On the way I was so excited to
see what it s like to be a police officer. Soon, arrived at the Los Angeles Police Department.I never
wold ve thouh I d be on a ride along with my father. My ride along experience with my mentor
ended up being the longest and most intense day of my life. I say it was long because I was with
him from 9pm to 5;32am. That s 8 hours. Before the trip I was introduced to many of the officers
my mentor works with at the department.

Hcg Injections For Weight Loss
Title HCG injections for weight loss: Fab or fad?
Description Obesity is one of the consistent side effects associated with the urban lifestyle today. A
number of weight loss programs including HCG injections are coming up purported to cure obesity.
What is HCG and why should you know of it?
HCG injections contain the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin typically secreted by the
pregnant mother s placenta following successful conception. It is reason behind the pink bar of a
pregnancy test strip attesting successful pregnancy. HCG is being used to deal with problems
regarding conceiving babies from quite some time by medical practitioners.
When did it all start?
The revelation that HCG can burn fat started first in the 1950 s when Dr. Albert T. Simeons, an
endocrinologist from Britain started using HCG injections to treat people with obesity. One of
the probable and not yet established role of human chorionic gonadotrophin is that it burns belly
fat to provide ATP or energy for the fetus, Dr. Simeons concluded from this belief that HCG must
also facilitate a rapid burning of fat from all portions of the body at all times. But no substantial
cases of actual weight loss through only HCG injections have come up till date. In a more recent
time, Kevin Trudeau in his 2007 book claimed that HCG injections were the magic secret to quick
weight loss. The funny part is Kevin is not even remotely associated with medicine or health; he is
just another shady businessman.

Yes. That is a great question. We do both. We have 6 regional centers across the country. New
Hampshire, Jacksonville Floriday, . SO those regional centers house roughly 1500 associates
give or take a few, you know of a couple hundred given the site we are talking about, but 1500 on
average. Some of those roles are service, some are sales. Some of the programs we run, because
we have large groups there in the building who are local to each other, some might think of a new

classroom of 20 associates that need a learning experience. We can deliver that face to face. Our
facilitators are local, our audience is local. We have ways and means to deliver the training in
person, face to face. There are other times where we deliver training virtually. SO we may have a
facilitator in Maramack delivering to a class of say 5, but there are other associates around the
country sitting in classrooms or conference rooms that may have 3 5 or 10 people. It is one
facilitator delivering locally, in person, but virtually across the country.

  • 2. Fall Of Roman Empire Essay Multiple aspects of Rome s economy led to the fall of what was once the most powerful empire in the world. The Roman Empire was established in 27 BC, and it stretched throughout parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia. Their economy, which was once the idealistic financial system for countries worldwide, started to worsen. An empire, especially one as strong and powerful as Rome s, cannot survive on an unstable economy. As finances, the work force, and diplomatic relations of Rome started to decline, so did the country. In 476 AD, the Roman Empirecollapsed. The deterioration of Rome s overall economy led to the fall of what was once known as The Capital of the World. The finances of Rome played a key part in why the empire collapsed. Rome... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anytime Rome had a problem with another country, the legions would engage in war with them and usually win. Rome s strong fighting force enabled them to control almost anything they wanted. However, it was not as easy with the Vandals. The Vandals were a Germanic tribe led by a man named Gunderic. This tribe, which was highly dangerous, consisted of mainly farmers, craftsmen, and jewelry makers. The Vandals launched their fleet out to the Mediterranean Sea, eventually gaining control of many territories that used to belong to Rome, such as North Africa. Gunderic had his hostile tribe raid coastlines and destroy every ship that crossed its path. The Vandals stole gold, precious jewels, and more from countries around the world, including ones in the Roman Empire. The Romans could no longer handle having the Vandals in their territories, so they engaged in war with them. Surprisingly, the Vandals beat what was once the number one fighting force in the entire world. In return for winning the war, the Romans gave the Vandals permission to do whatever they wanted wherever they pleased. This disrupted the trade between Rome and other countries, for the Vandals had war ships around many important ports and docks. In addition, the Vandals were constantly raiding and stealing precious items, which made trading with Rome very risky ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Personal Computer Impact Throughout history, new technology has always had an economic impact, each technology differing in significance of impact. In some cases this impact may not be as drastic as it appears at first glance, and in others, it may be more so. The personal computer, first introduced in 1975, has certainly had an impact on the economy of the developed world in which it is, including the United States. However, there are those out three who believe that the personal computerhas not had as great an impact on economics in the United States as it would appear at first glance. The personal computerhas certainly affected the economy, but the questions of How much? , and Who remain. When the personal computer first came onto the scene in the 1970s, many companies tried to jump into the new market. Some of the names involved are still familiar household names even still today, but some failed in this new market quickly after joining. One name that is still easily recognizable today is Apple. In 1976, Apple designed and released the Apple I. However, it wasn t until 1980 that personal computers became affordable enough that they could be used at home. In that year, Commodore released a personal computer that only cost consumers $299, which was more affordable to the average consumer than previous computer prices had been. It is estimated that by the end of 1980, there were around one million personal computers in use in the US. In 1993, Apple and Microsoft had become major players in ... This principle is divided into two classifications: diffusion and osmosis. Diffusion is the movement of substances from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration and they become evenly distributed throughout both regions (Biology Department, 2015).Furthermore Osmosisis the movement of free water from an area of higher concentrationto an area of lower concentration across a semi permeable membrane (Biology Department, 2015).Diffusionand osmosis regulate the quantity of solutes that are in the solvent from moving in and out of the cell in aqueous solutions. Tonicity is the capacity of a nearby solution that causes a cell to gain or lose water; it relies on the concentration of the solute that cannot pass through the membrane (Reece et al., 2014).A hypertonic solution is when the solution has a higher concentration then the solute which causes the water to move away from the cell which results in a shriveled cell. A hypotonic solution is when the solute has a higher concentration than the solution which causes the cell to expand and swell (Mao, 2008). Nevertheless an isotonic solution is when the concentration of the solute and solution are equal. The category of the cell relies on the effect of osmosis on the cell. The hypotonic solution will take up water if an animal cell is placed in the solution, which will cause it to swell, gets larger and eventually lyse. We can see this when Holden says and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me and all.. (Salinger 1). It is clear to me that Holden has well I wouldn t say communication problems but very close to it. I see that when he goes on the date with Sally Hayes it exhibited his difficulty at cooperating with others. At first, he gives us a dire impression of Sally, I wasn t too crazy about her, but I d known her for years. (slainger105) I see that holden doesn t want to necessary express himself and suppress his feeling and affection to seem he is tough. I would implore holding to go out in the world and act like how he really is and not to make a fake false persona of himself. Holden is suspended between adulthood and childhood. Several of his actions and words show evidence of his confusion between adults and children. Admitting to his immaturity, Holden says, I was sixteen then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes I act like I m about thirteen. (Salinger 9) Sunny, the prostitute is an example of Holden s attempt to be an adult, but realizing he is stuck in childhood. You see my son is really trying to be someone he is not and I think that his school life has an important role in that. When holding attended pencey prep he always wanted to not be the one standing out see he would join clicks so he wouldn t get bullied because my son is a pacifist. I would have to take Holden out of school a probably homeschool him because I think interaction with high school children is not necessarily right for him. I was really young at the time. It was a long time ago because I am 20 years old now. At that time, life for me was simple. I didn t have to worry about anything. Edward Lawler of the Center for Effective Organizations at the University of Southern California, the author of many books on compensation, believes that employees value themselves in relation to the market place and if a competitor were to offer higher pay it is likely that employee will change companies (Wilson, 2003). Performance Based Strategy Performance based pay strategy is a variable pay system which is intended to increase employee productivity by rewarding employees based on their performance rather than paying based on the time that an employee spends at work (Wisegeek). Due to the fact that performance based employees have a vested interest in the success of the company their productivity is likely to improve which can lead to the need for fewer employees to maintain production levels leading to a reduction in labor costs to the employer. Studies have shown that time based employees only produce 50 to 60 percent of the output of performance based employees (Atchinson). Performance based pay plans are becoming increasingly utilized by companies across all industries as they try to improve their productivity while limiting their costs and remaining competitive. An effective performance based plan allows an employer to distribute some of the financial risk and rewards of the business to the employees. The employer can keep base pay compensation below the market average while still offering employees the opportunity to make more money than what is offered at the high end of the market pay range. This leaves the employer less vulnerable to fluctuations in the economic environment by lowering the fixed cost of wages (Miller, 2011). There are many ways to implement a performance based plan but all require that goals be set, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Political Influence In Elections As indicated in Figure 1, there has been a strong increase in swing voters in UK general elections, particularly since 2001. When considered in the context of valence issues, this could suggest that since an increasing number of voters are likely to choose a different party from one election to another, it is possible that an increasing number of voters are likely to be influenced by the valence model of voting, that is, considering the competency of the different parties on the issues that are important to them. This would then imply that issues are having an increasingly large amount of influence on the way people vote, possibly to the extent that they have become more influential than social class. Issue appropriation A notable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (BBC 2017) It is therefore very possible that a large number of people who voted UKIP in the 2015 election chose to vote this way simply because the issue of EU integration was important to them and so chose to vote for a different party in the 2017 election because the other major parties now covered this issue, as shown in Figure 3. Figure 3 How those who voted UKIP in 2015 voted in 2010 and how they planned to vote in 2017 Source: Curtis, C. (2017). If we take the voting intentions displayed in Figure 3 to be a correct indication of how voters actually behaved at the polling stations, then it would be fair to say that around 64% of people who voted UKIP in 2015 voted for a different party in 2017, with 37% of these former UKIP voters choosing to vote for the Conservatives, possibly due to Theresa May s recent promises for a hard Brexit . (The Guardian 2017). This would then imply that many voters are willing to choose a party based on their stance on a particular issue even if this means selecting a party that is not necessarily associated with one s social class, as shown in Figure 3 by the fact that former Labour voters, after voting UKIP in 2015, chose to vote Conservative in 2017. I received a call from Helen regarding that she needed scissors to cut off zip ties that were holding a canopy that she was told to bring back with Bryson. I had not been informed that Mr.Winn told our ambassadors that he had sent them on their own to go pick up the canopy on their own, without supervision. I was currently watching the game, while keeping my eyes on Amber and Dajah who were policing people from coming inside the baseball area with outside food. When I went to give the scissors to Helen and Bryson, I had notice that the gate was shut to enter the dugoutarea where they were retrieving the canopy. I had asked them how did they get through the closed gate. They had told me that they had climbed over to get to the other side. At that point when they told me, I felt very concerned because they could have gotten hurt and I had not know where they were because Mr.Winn had got out of his way to use his authority to have our ambassadors complete a task without my supervision or by my word. I told Helen and Bryson to climb back over and not to worry about the canopy anymore because it was to complicated for them to retrieve it. The canopy was also broken and they were using sticks to hold it open. That is also an issue because the ambassadors could hurt themselves trying to take down the canopy and no was there their to help them out because they need 4 people taking down a canopy to hold each ... • 11. On Two Friars The first chapter of G.K. Chesterton s biography of Thomas Aquinas, Saint Thomas Aquinas, entitled On Two Friars , compares and contrasts the two great friars: Thomas Aquinas and Saint Francis. Chesterton describes just how vastly different these two friars were, while also remarking on how similar they were at the very same time. Thomas was a man of reason and logic, whereas Francis was a man of the wild and nature. Chesterton himself describes that, Therefore it is the paradox of history that each generation is converted by the saint who contradicts it the most, (Chesterton 24) showing that each and every generation takes a liking to their own respective philosopher. In the case of Assisi and Aquinas, Assisi took hold in the 19th century full of imperialism, and Aquinas has taken hold in the 20th century, wherein we seek reason as we have begun to divulge from reason. This search for a proper philosopher in order to fulfill ones needs is common place for society, wherein we constantly want to grow or change who we are, and ultimately the popularity of philosophers is influenced by their methods. Alfred Hitchcocktells the tale of an established business man, rich with opinions, status, and money, who gets thrown into an adventure because of a case mistaken identity in North by Northwest. This shows several things; first, she is extremely wealthy by her lack of sense of how expensive fines are, and second, getting drunk and having wild nights might be a common occurrence for Thornhill, as she appears exasperated and used to his unruly behavior. With no one, not even his closet family, to believe him, Robert Thornhill s reputation began to be destroyed. He had no power, no title, no reputation to help him when others created an identity for him and based their judgements off that alone. He essentially lost all of his past self and had zero credibility. When fleeing from the police, Thornhill attempts to buy a train ticket from a salesman. • 13. Richard Muhlfeld s His Quintet For Clarinet, 2 Violins,... In his Quintet for Clarinet, 2 Violins, Viola, and Cello Op. 115, Brahms creates an important and influential work in the chamber music repertoire. By writing his Quintet for the specific clarinetist Richard MГјhlfeld s artistic brilliance, and by taking musical liberties with conventional forms and expectations, Brahms crafts the intimacy and seriousness one has come to expect from chamber music. Towards the end of his life, Brahms had intended on retiring from composing. Around 1891, the Meiningen orchestra, with whom Richard MГјhlfeld held his career with, frequently featured Brahms s music at well known festivals in the area. The Joachim Quartet concerts were known for being a major series performing strictly string chamber music. Brahms had convinced Joachim with his manuscripts that the work was worthy of the sacrifice of adding clarinet and piano to the series. The highly regarded reputation of the Joachim concerts certainly allowed for the seriousness of the Quintet to be featured, for all of the cleaver composition techniques Brahms employed were certainly appreciated by the intellectual audiences the Quartet frequently attracted. The Quintet follows the general guidelines for form that audiences of the time have come to expect from serious string chamber music pieces. The first movement acts as a Sonata form with some unexpected variation, the second as a three part song form. The third and fourth movements begin to some unconventional practices. In the third, instead of a scherzo movement in 3/4 time, we get a sonata allegro in 4/4 and 2/4 time. In the fourth, the audience gets a theme and variations, but the tempo is considerably slower than what one would normally expect from a concluding movement. In 1891, the only memorable clarinet quintet was composed by Mozart. If one were to come into a performance of the Brahms Quintet with Mozart s Quintet in mind, they would expect the clarinet to take the most important role, with the strings accompanying more often than not. This is certainly not the case in Brahms s work, as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many economists generally define the attributes of a recession are two consecutive quarters with declining GDP. Many factors contribute to an economy s fall into a recession, but the major cause argued is inflation. As individuals or even businesses try to cut costs and spending this causes GDP to decline, unemployment rate can rise due to less spending which can be one of the combined factors when an economy falls into a recession. As the demand for loans diminish, interest rates tend to decline as well (Schiller, 2010). Dissimilarities of U.S. Recession and Other Nations Although, Japan and Sweden had few similarities with those of the United States during the Great Recession, there were dissimilarities that displayed the U.S. failure to achieve full employment GDP and other factors. • 15. The Effects Of Drinking Water On Water Quality Drinking water is a simple idea but such a hard process to master. The water in our lakes and rivers is not safe to drink due to the toxins from vehicles, industrial plants, and natural sources. It is sad how much we take drinking water for granted. In many countries around the world, they do not have easy access to drinking water like we do here in America. In today s society, when we receive water from a lake or river, it must be treated and cleaned before people can drink it. The drinking water quality has three main properties that give its ability to clean and be able to drink that will not get people sick. These three properties include the chemical makeup, physical properties, and the biological properties of the water quality. The first step of improving the water quality is by using chemicals to clean and get rid of the toxins that might be in the water. Water is a made up of many different chemicals. According to (Scatena 2000), as water across the landscape, it interacts with its environment through a variety of chemical processes, during these processes it picks up transported dissolved gases, cations and anions, amorphous organics, trace metals, and particulates. Regrettably, they are a shrinking portion of the voting population. The problem that they face is a shrinking voter base, mainly due to age. As their electorate shrinks, it is imperative for the party to appeal to the more liberal younger generations for support. The Republican Partyneeds to look forward to true reform. Above all, the party needs to abandon much of their social conservatismto appeal to millennials interests to stay relevant on the national political scene. David Frum offers four potential solutions for where the Republican party can go from here. He himself believes that the first two considerations of doubling down on elite backed candidates or tactical concession on immigration are unhelpful and too narrow respectively. Therefore, his most confident considerations are in his third and fourth options. His fourth choice to keep the Republican party relevant is, in his words, to change the rules of the game. (Frum 2016) Parties are in favor of processes that help advance their (or limit the other party s) political and ideological goals. The auditor conducts various tests and based on the results forms an opinion on the truthfulness and fairness of the financial statements of the company and whether or not they are prepared in accordance with the financial reporting standards and are free from any material misstatement (Freedman, 2013). The purpose of auditing is to enhance the confidence of investors and to add credibility to the truthfulness of company s true financial performance. However, there are some dos and don ts that an auditor must take care of. For instance, anything that threatens the independence of the auditor must be avoided as it adversely affects the truthfulness and objectivity of the opinion formed. History raised questions about Australian rules concerning the independence of auditors and its role in contributing to the corporate collapse and the collapse of HIH insurance ltd (Ramsay, 2001). It is believed that if auditors had been objective in formulating their opinion on the statements or highlighted the risk of going concern of the firms, situation could have been handled better. • 24. Habermas Theory Of The Public Sphere Having examined and defined mass media and the contemporary democracy it is important however to consider Habermas theory of the public sphere. Habermas defines the public sphere as a realm of our social life in which something approaching public opinion can be formed. Access is guaranteed to all citizens (1974, p.49). It is Habermas theory that the public sphere helps to facilitate the rational communication of public affairs independently from the government and state. Similar to the paragraphs on the mass media and contemporary democracies Habermas himself backs up the point of the mass media negatively affecting the democracy. He argues that commercialised media in the new public sphere have turned the public sphere into a place where advertising is prioritised (Habermas, Lennox and Lennox 1974). A point that backs this theory up is the way the mass media influences television in a political way, as it is deteriorating the public sphere (Hart,1994). This opinion is key in the context of explaining the public sphere theory as it helps to highlight a key point in the modern democracy. Harts opinion highlights one of the main tools of influence within the mass media, news organisations influence the audiences view point through what they broadcast on their television channels. (Quoted in Papacharissi, 2010, p.232) Habermas (2004) suggests that main stream media content have colonized the public sphere and compromised rational and democratic public discourse. This ... The language from line 1 to line 10 seems to focus on the activity of deer hunting: the speaker is attracted by a female deer and chases the deer from far behind, but he is exhausted and gives up as the deer flees; however, the use of she and her in these lines may be a suggestion of a metaphor. The last four lines then revealed the speech of using hind as a metaphor for lady by adding the components of diamonds , her fair neck and for Caesar s ; thus the readers could understand the real intention that hidden under the speaker s metaphor by comparing the similarity of a female deer and a fair lady: both are beautiful but wild. ... The two enjambments in lines 5 and 6 increases the readers speed of reading, showing the eagerness and frustration when the speaker is chasing, the losing the deer/lady; meanwhile, the two end stopping in lines 7 and 8 slows down the readers reading speed, effectively suggesting the speaker s feeling of helpless and bitter by giving up the effort of pursuing. The rhyme of lines 5 8 follows the format of abba, which demonstrates the beauty of symmetry together with the consistent rhyme in lines 1 4; however, visual rhymes appear in the two words mind and wind , which stands out from the text, possibly showing the potential turbulence of speaker s mind ... • 33. Darkling Thrush In the poem Darkling Thrush by Thomas Hardly has some great and true statements about the world crummy. According to the online Google dictionary crummy mean dirty, unpleasant, or of poor quality. The main theme I got from this poem is how he talks about how can you be happy in a world full of stuff that s falling apart. In Darkling Thrush, the speaker also show how people in the world is moving too fast and no actually enjoy moments in their life. They tend to let death take their life away befre even enjoying the world and its nature. He also goes to say things go from dull and depressing to outright dismal. This poem also shows that you must live your life for you and not other people or try to follow what others are doing. The decision ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Source Code Essay There are several definition of source code, which makes regulating it difficult because different regulators may have varying conceptions of just what it is, and as a result, what kinds of rules should attach to it. The general definition of source code that most people acknowledge is the version of software as it is originally written by a human in plain text (Source Code). According to this definition, code is written by humans in order to create software, which can be any operating system, program or data with a processor. The average person can see that the source code would be the code that the software needs in order to function. This is source code but source code is also much more. Another definition states holds that source code is any fully executable description of a software system. It is therefore so construed as to include machine code, very high level languages and executable graphical representations of systems (Harman). At first glance, it seems just like the other definition. However, it only seems that way because we automatically apply the assumption that the executable description is the same as the version of software which may not necessarily be the case. The description leads us to believe that the source code does not necessarily have to run the software but can just be a description for said software. The first definition leads us to believe that the code is that specific software. The second definition also mentions machine code and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Constantine the Ruler of the Roman Empire Constantine the ruler of the Roman Empire had been surrounded by many controversies during his reign (Cameron, 14). He was the son of a great warrior and he defeated Manutius a great ruler at Milia Bridge. He had gained much respect and admiration among the Romans as a fair ruler. He emerged as a ruler who supported Christianityand then became popular as a Christian ruler himself. His reign and victory over the Roman Empireis a significant event in the history of Christian religion. With the Edict of Milan in 313 Christianity was recognized as a religion, and the followers were free to practice Christianity without fear. It has been argued that Constantine failed to treat different religions equally as paganism (Cameron, 57). Constantine also sponsored churches, promoted Christians to high government ranks, exempted taxes for the clergy. In the latter days of his rule Constantine had a stricter approach towards Christianity and professed that there is one God, the Christian God. He rewarded building temples into churches. He played a key role in framing important church policies namely The Council of Arles, A.D. 314 and The Council of Nicaea, A.D. 325. Constantine, however faced much challenges after he legalized Christianity. Christianity had been divided into different churches and their views. Constantine is also responsible for the creation of a universal church. Constantine presided over the First Ecumenical Council held at Nicaea to resolve the Arian Controversy. ... • 36. A Time To Die Analysis The following will serve as part review, part confessional. I started this book two years ago this month. I began reading A Time to Die after reading a recommendation from a friend of mine. I began reading it, hoping for a book that would immediately hold me captive and not release me from its powers until I had finished the journey. Well... The book held me captive, but not in the way I was expecting. I saw much of Parvin in myself. Reading this book, written in first person present tense, was like experiencing a dream. Parvin was convinced her life had no meaning, that she had wasted her life. She wanted her life to mean something but when she was presented with opportunities to create meaning, she pushed back and tried to find an easier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have been following the author on Facebook and her blog during these past two years and she impressed me with her intentionality in the way she interacts with her readers and followers. Her posts are a shining light in the cynical, angry world of Facebook. One of the central themes in A Time to Die is the idea of bringing God s Shalom or a peace that comes from living the way God intended. This is not simply something she wrote about for her story, she is very active about living it out in her blogging and Facebook posts. I have been blessed by this girl s shining light, and it was because of this that I finally decided to finish the book. There were some challenging moments, as I felt my own character developing right alongside Parvin s. This book contains some perplexing characters with very flawed thinking and I understood her frustration as she struggled to reason with them. There were also beautiful moments, as the events and interactions which pushed Parvin s (and my own) comfort and world view made way to show God s incredible love for His ... The Wonder behind The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Often, people who enjoy reading are found disappointed by the film versions of their favorite books. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and The Wizard of OZ movie produced by Vincent Fleming serve as a good example of a distorted transition from text to film. While the novel was originally created to teach that anything is possible with hard work and is a straightforward children s book, the film tacks on many unintended morals, further changing the stories meaning. While which one preferred is only an opinion, adapted aspect s of the novel including the reality of Oz, Kansas, and Dorothy s characterization each alter what the story was meant to be, which was an innocent fairytale. In the film, Dorothy travels to Oz by being sucked into a cyclone and then landing in the middle of a magical realm. Once the novels reaches it s ending, Dorothy wakes up, having bumped her head, revealing that Oz was nothing but a dream all along. In the novel Oz is a real place that Dorothy travels to and from. This idea is much more exciting for the audience and especially children because it makes the story line more believable, allowing them to get lost in their imagination. Culver states, Baum s text describes a different relation between fantasy and reality and how his Dorothy doesn t try to run away and isn t dreaming but it merely confronts by accident a fantastic world contagious with and just as real as ¬¬Kansas . The Therapeutic Potential of Genistein for Obesity Linked Cancer First Author1, Second Author2 (14) 1(Department, College/ University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) 2(Department, College / University Name, Country Name) (10 Italic) Abstract: With obesity and cancer being a global issue, this review will be focused on linking genistein s ability to simultaneously treat both related diseases. Extensive studies have been done on genistein as a therapy for diabetes and obesity, but not enough has been researched in its effect on obesity associated cancer. Obesity linked cancer arises at a cellular level due to adipocytes ability to release hormones and growth factors (adipocytokines) inducing carcinogenesis. Varying levels of adipocytokines, including leptin and adiponectin, can promote the development of metabolic disorders such as cancer and diabetes. Therefore the most effective treatment is to target the molecular pathways that link obesity to cancer. Genistein is known for its anti cancer effects and inhibition of adipocyte enlargement and differentiation. This can serve as a targeted therapeutic drug that can concurrently treat cancer and obesity. This review will cover four parts to support the promising effects of genistein: obesity and cancer, dietary anticancer agents, clinical significance, and future directions. The same goes for panic disorder. However, both may turn to alcohol and substance abuse to reduce the anxiety. To differentiate between the two, the source of the anxiety needs to be determined. Derek Riggs, the artist of most of the band s artwork, created the famous album artwork: Life After Death in 1985. A number of weight loss programs including HCG injections are coming up purported to cure obesity. What is HCG and why should you know of it? HCG injections contain the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin typically secreted by the pregnant mother s placenta following successful conception. It is reason behind the pink bar of a pregnancy test strip attesting successful pregnancy. HCG is being used to deal with problems regarding conceiving babies from quite some time by medical practitioners. When did it all start? The revelation that HCG can burn fat started first in the 1950 s when Dr. Albert T. Simeons, an endocrinologist from Britain started using HCG injections to treat people with obesity. One of the probable and not yet established role of human chorionic gonadotrophin is that it burns belly fat to provide ATP or energy for the fetus, Dr. Simeons concluded from this belief that HCG must also facilitate a rapid burning of fat from all portions of the body at all times. But no substantial cases of actual weight loss through only HCG injections have come up till date. In a more recent time, Kevin Trudeau in his 2007 book claimed that HCG injections were the magic secret to quick weight loss. The funny part is Kevin is not even remotely associated with medicine or health; he is just another shady businessman. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
