Dependent Personality Disorder Research Paper
Dependent Personality Disorder
And How it can Affect your Daily Life
Everyone has personality traits. Some people are shy while others are outgoing and
some people are optimistic and some are pessimistic. Sometimes it is hard to tell the
difference between a personality trait and a disorder. Personality disordersare
diagnosed when ways of seeing, interpreting, or behaving in the world become
inflexible and maladaptive. A personality disordercauses distress to self or others. A
person with a personality disorder has trouble perceiving and relating to situations and
to people. This causes significant problems and limitations in relationships, social
encounters, work and school (Personality 2015).
When diagnosing a patient, it is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cluster A personality disorders are characterized by odd, eccentric thinking or
behavior. Paranoid personality disorder would fit under Cluster A. Cluster B is the
wild cluster. People with these disorders have very dramatic, emotional or erratic
behaviors. Cluster C personality disorders are characterized by anxious, fearful
thinking or behavior. This cluster includes dependent personality disorder
(Personality 2015).
Dependent personality disorder (DPD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed
personality disorders. The terrifying fear of being left alone and being abandoned
are both signs of DPD. When faced with this disorder you really cling to other
people, usually a significant other. You get self satisfaction by being wanted by
another person. Fourteen percent of people with personality disorders are diagnosed
with DPD (Ekern 2013).
The causes of dependent personality disorder to this day are unknown. Both
biological and developmental factors are most likely involved (Dependent 2015).
There are multiple speculations as to why people obtain this disorder like
overprotective parenting. Also, one s social environment can play a role in DPD. In
all most all cases the patient experiencing DPD has faced some sort of abuse or
trauma, making them stick to another person (Ekern
Argumentative Essay On Gifted Children
Arbitrary, too narrow in scope, and biased are just a few of the things that come up
when psychologists, teachers and parents discuss how to determine if children are
gifted and talented. In the United States, 6 to 10 percent of school age children are
labeled gifted and are placed into classes that cater to their advanced abilities
(National Association of Gifted Children, 2014). School age children, in some
states, can be as young as four years old. A lot of the controversy starts right there:
how can four year olds be expected to take a challenging IQ assessment and then
have their score on that test determine their classroom placement for the next 13
years? Lewis Terman, an American psychologist and professor at Stanford
University, was a pioneer in the understanding of gifted children and their place in the
American education system. He was majorly influenced by Alfred Binet and
eventually revised the Binet Stanford scale so that it could be used in the United
States, where it is now known as the Stanford Binet IntelligenceScale (Human
Intelligence, 2013). A major contribution of his was the definition of what makes a
child gifted. According to Terman, an Intelligence Quotient(IQ) of at least 130 marks
giftedness, he even believed that any child who scored a 132 or higher was a genius
(Steinberg, Bornstein, Vandell, Rook, 2011). To measure intelligence, he expanded
on William Sterns equation stating that IQ is a person s mental age and chronological
age

Ensuring that the EHR is as adopted as other clinical applications can greatly impact
the patient experience, including; patient registration, records management, and

providers are still in early staging of implementing an EHR and if not completely
installed can have a negative impact on patient satisfaction metrics(2014, p. 134)11.

The Impact Of The Mental Health Act
The Mental Health Act R.S.O. (1990) is a comprehensive piece of provincial
legislation which regulates mental health care in Ontario. Although it can be assumed
that the legislation applies to all mental health services and supports (Schizophrenic
Society of Ontario, 2013), the laws described in the Mental HealthAct ( MHA ) apply
only to psychiatric units in hospitals, and specialized psychiatric facilities within the
province (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health [CAMH], 2012), and to the
patients who are under observation, care or treatment in these facilities or under a
community treatment order (Mental Health Act, 1990). Although amendments have
been made (Ontario. Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, 2015), there are issues

These amendments include references to disordered behaviour, thought, or
perception that severely impairs judgement or capacity, of which psychiatric
intervention is advised (Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act, 2005). The broad
definition contained within the MHA leaves the term mental disorder open to
interpretation, which may result in inconsistencies among Ontario psychiatric
admissions.
According to the Mental Health Act (1990), a community treatment order offers a
less restrictive alternative to being held in a psychiatric unit or facility. Introduced to
the MHA in 2000, a community treatment order is a comprehensive plan of
community based care that sets out the criteria for the management and treatment of
psychiatric outpatients (Byrick, K., Walker Renshaw, B., 2016). However, research
by Mfoafo M Carthy and Williams (2010) has suggested that community treatment
orders are unethical. Under a community treatment order, treatment typically requires
an individual to comply with medications that a physician believes is necessary for
their normal function in the community (Ontario. Ministry of Heath and Long Term
Care, 2016). The MHA has been termed unconstitutional based on its violation of the
human right to life and liberty by mandating that an individual participate in
outpatient treatment (Picard, 2013), including medication compliance.
Apprehensions under the MHA attempt to divert an individual with a mental

The Man Cave Case Study
Briefly summarize the case. Brad and Julie worked hard to get a home they
wanted and it took them two years to get the man cave Brad had always wanted.
With this man cave, they were able to put in some valuable pieces into the man
cave and it was a showcase for this family. One day they had a fire in the home and
it cause major damage to the man cave, to the point of having to start over and
rebuild the basement. They were able to rent a house from a family that would
have lost the home if they had not rented this home. Thus, they was able to help the
family out. They looked at what they wanted to do with the home and redid the
man cave into a family cave. What are some key principles or concepts from the
course that can be applied in offering help or direction for this family? (Include

Which relationships might be particularly at risk, and which need to be protected

this would be a good time for a family council. Ask the family what we should do

each member would like to have done so everyone would have an input. Have

Art Museum Reflection Paper
Before visiting the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) to observe and analyze the art
covered in class, I made sure to read the museum s mission statement. That way, it
would be in my mind as I walked through the halls and moved from gallery to
gallery and I could revisit it afterward. According to Seattle Art Museum s executive
summary and strategic plan for 2014 2017, the museum s mission is a simple one: to
connect art to life. Through art, the Seattle Art Museum enriches lives and engages
diverse communities. As the leading visual art institution in the Pacific Northwest,
SAM draws on its global collections, powerful exhibitions, and dynamic programs to
provide unique educational resources benefiting the Seattle region, the Pacific
Northwest, and beyond (Seattle Art Museum). Regarding the fact that I am writing
this now and had the opportunity to observe and research many works of art proves
their mission to be successful. Walking into the museum, I noticed that it already
appeared to be much bigger on the inside than it did on the outside. The first two
floors were lit mostly by natural light and provided museum visitors access to tickets,
information about the museum, the gift shop, and some food. The remaining floors
were dimmer and mostly just the art pieces were given light to eliminate distraction.
The American, Native American, and modern/contemporary art was displayed on the
third floor while the African, European, and Mediterranean art was found on the top
floor. The three art pieces that interested me the most were all found on the third
floor in mostly the modern and contemporary art section. To, help uncover the power
of detail behind the artwork, I chose three pieces corresponding to abstract and
abstract expressionismfrom artists Jackson Pollock, Josef Albers, and Eva Hesse to
research and truly analyze.
The first powerful example of abstract art and in this case, abstract expressionism,
comes from Jackson Pollock. Paul Jackson Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming, in
1912, to a family with four other sons. When Pollock was nine years old, his father
abandoned the family and returned when only after Pollock had already moved out
of the house. Though his childhood was a fairly rough, he loved nature
Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems, Nature And Nurture...
Development psychology has many ideas of how humans are influence during their
development. The ones that this paper will be covering are the Bronfenbrenner s
Ecological Systems, nature and nurture influences and cultural influences. I have also
given my own personal influence to further demonstrate my understanding of each
idea.
The Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems is a model created by psychologist Urie
Bronfenbrenner that refers to five structures of which an individual interacts with that
impacts their development. The structures are referred to as systems in the model and
there are five systems: Microsystem, Mesosystem, Exosystem, Macrosystem,
Chronosystem.
The Microsystem refers to the environment that has a direct influence on an
individual; school, home, place of worship, teachers, and peers are included in the
Microsystem. A personal example is that my mother, an extremely prominent figure
in any person s Microsystem, noticed that I had a rather good potential for working
on creative stories. As a direct influence on me, she gave me praise on the stories
that I showed her and gave me encouragement to continue working on my writing.
Therefore, she directly influenced my psychological development since her praise
heightened my self esteem and allowed me to have a good self image of myself
thanks to the environment I was raised in.
The Mesosystem refers to the interactions that occur between the systems, such as
how one s school life interacts with one s home life.
The Between China And Taiwan
The campaign of the occupation lays the advantages as well as the disadvantages of
the CSSTA under the sun stark naked; unfortunately, the pact is already passed. The
forced adoption by the KMT highlights the Ma government s arbitrary abuse of the
power and infringement of the human right, leading to the constitutional crisis of the
retrogression in democracy. It meanwhile stimulates civilians to ponder the rebirth of
democracy. (е …жЊЃпјЊз›ґе€°е

Strait Service Trade Agreement, CSSTA] against the untransparent processes. This
agreement, passed without the regular procedure, underlines the dark side of the Ma
government and how it simultaneously summons up civilians to deeply think about
what is now striking the democracy in Taiwan. In addition to the domestic problems
originating from the CSSTA, the other vital issue our nation is encountering now is
that Taiwan is standing at a lower position in this financial game. The scales and
structures of business are totally different between Taiwan and China. If we just
accept the trade without detailed consideration, China is likely [taking] control over
Taiwan by means of financial interactions, and it will lead to what Hong Kong
Nuclear Disarmament Persuasive Speech
In April 2009 President Barack Obama made a speech in Prague in which he
pledged to work towards achieving worldwide nuclear disarmament. He called for the
banning of nuclear tests and the strengthening of the Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty
and declared that the United States would lead by example and take considerable
steps towards achieving a nuclear weaponfree world. This vision of a nuclear
weapon free world falls in line with Global Zero , an initiative launched in Paris in
December 2008 by George Shultz, Henry Kissinger, William Perry, and Sam Nunn
campaigns for complete nuclear disarmament. (Global Zero, 2016)
The speech evoked mixed responses from both advocates and critics alike. It can be
argued, that although the President s aspirations are both honorable and
praiseworthy, there are ground realities that make the execution of this plan, as well
as wide acceptability of the project rather challenging.
First and foremost, it is important to explore what steps the Obama administration
have taken themselves in order to work towards achieving nuclear disarmament and if
these have been substantial.
It has now been seven years since the President gave his speech in Prague. A year
after his speech, in April 6 2010, the Obama administration released a Nuclear
Posture Review (NPR). The NPR emphasizes on the need to counter nuclear
proliferation and terrorism and stresses on keeping other countries from acquiring
Nuclear weapons. It also reduces the role of Nuclear
Strategic Assessment Of Risk Assessment Methodologies
Mostly all security methodologies call for some kind of objective assessment of
risks. This is simply so because, security controls selections are centered on the
known risks there are to an organization s assets and operations. There is also an
alternative, which would consist of randomly selecting securitycontrols without using
any type of methodical threat or control analysis. If the alternative method is used to
implement the security controls, there will be issues such as: having security controls
implemented in the wrong places, and the organization will be left vulnerable to
unanticipated threats and resources will be wasted.
Risk assessment methodologies establishes rules for what is to be assessed and
establishes who will need to be involved. Risk assessment methodologies also
establishes the terminology that will be used when discussing the risk, establishes the
degree of risk when quantifying, qualifying, and comparing risk, and they also help to
establish what documentation must be collected as a result of the assessments. The
two most popular risk assessment methodologies that are used today are: OCTAVE
(Operationally Critical Threat, Asset, and Vulnerability Evaluation) which was
developed at Carnegie Mellon University, and the NIST risk assessment methodology
that is documented in NIST Special Publication 800 30.
The OCTAVE methodology is a method that is used when assessing an organization s
information security needs. The most recently developed and
Analysis Of The Man To Send Rain Clouds
The short story The Man to Send Rain Clouds by Leslie Marmon Silko is a
deceptively simple narrative about the death and funeral of an old man of the
Laguna Pueblo tribe of Native Americans. Set in the desert southwest of the United
States, the story is narrated from an omniscient point of view, and describes the
discovery of the old man s body, the preparation of the body for burial, and the
interaction between the family of the dead man and the Catholic priest who lives on
the reservation. The author uses very simple language and unsophisticated
descriptions to describe an intricate and complex relationship between the Christian
culture of the priest and the religious culture of the Pueblo culture. Descriptions of
the bleak landscape... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As they are wrapping up Teofilo s corpse, Leon ties a gray feather in the old man s
hair with a piece of twine. Ken hands him paint and he decorates the old man s face
with stripes of white, blue, yellow and green stripes. Leon tosses pinches of
cornmeal and pollen into the air. The narrator does not describe the significance of
these actions, but it is obvious that these are ritualistic activities that have to do with
funeral rites. The men wrap the corpse in a red blanket and carry it up to their truck.
At this point the reader becomes aware that the men must have anticipated that
Teofilo was dead when they went out to the sheep encampment. Why else would
they have brought the paint, cornmeal, pollen, and red blanket? The men appear to
be filling their parts in a predetermined drama. Before placing the blanket wrapped
body in the back of the truck, Leon addresses Teofilo s corpse: Bring us rain clouds,
Grandfather. (Silko, p. 358).
On their way home, the men encounter the local priest, Father Paul. The priest asks
them if they have located Teofilo, and they demur, telling him only that everything is
fine at the camp. The priest interprets this to mean that Teofilio is well, and he tells
them that the old man is too frail to be left at the sheep camp alone. The men assure
him that they won t be doing that again, and the priest and the men part. The priest
believes that they have

An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge and The Red Convertible An Occurrence at
Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce and The Red Convertible by Louise Erdrich
both recount sorrowful tales of men during times of war. The stories differ in that An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge is a story written in reverse, where the readers do
not truly know the plot until the end whereas The Red Convertible is just a man
recounting the story of his long lost brother. However despite their differences, both
of the stories continue to build up hope in the reader only to find nothing but a
sorrowful story at the end.

The entire story was just a snapshot that occurred in his mind before his death.
Ambrose Bierce purposefully continues to build the anticipation that the devout
Union soldier had escaped, only to drop the reader into a tale of demise and overall
doom. The Red Convertible by Louise Endrich was written in 1984 and revolves
around a Vietnam veteran and his brother. Lyman Lamartine is a young man whose
brother has just returned from the Vietnam War and has been traumatized by what he
had seen overseas.
Before the war, Lyman and his brother Henry were extremely close. Before Henry
departed for the war, and as Lyman recounts in the story, the two bonded over a red
convertible. This car proves to be symbolic, both throughout, and at the end of the
story, due to the change in Henry s behavior, illustrated by this quote from when
Henry returns: We had always been together before. But he was such a loner now
that I didn t know how to take it.
When Henry returns, he has no desire to ride in the red convertible, no desire to
wear the bright colored clothes he used to dawn instead Henry just liked to sit around
and sob about the war. The quote from the middle of the story, speaking about the
television, and how Henry just sat in front of it, watching it, and that was the only

Difference Between Coleridge And William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth was a British poet, credited with ushering in the English
Romantic Movement with the publication of Lyrical Ballad in collaboration with
Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The Biographical Perspective of William Wordsworth
can be presented multiply ways such as childhood experience, education, marriage,
friendship, travels, career, and publication. Childhood experience for William was
not particularly a happy one. His mom passed on when he was eight not having the
best relationship with her. His dad filled in as an attorney to the Earl of Lowther, a
famously degenerate man who had earned the neighborhood description as wicked
Jimmy. When John Wordsworth passed on in 1783, leaving thirteen year old William

Composing it in a drawn out procedure of self investigation, Wordsworth worked his
way toward an advanced mental comprehension of his own inclination, and hence
more extensively of human instinct. Third, Wordsworth set verse at the focal point

much as the first and lastly learning it is as eternal as the core of man, and he at that
point went ahead to make a portion of the best English verse of his
The Merger Between United and Continental Airline

As I was thinking about the two companies that I wanted to do for my course project
on, I began to research companies on the internet and I ran across the merger between
United and Continental airlines. The reason that I choose to do the merger is because
I knew that they were going to go through many changes within this merger. Both
airline companies have a lot to offer to each other with this merger that they can
compete with Delta airlines one of the largest airline in the world. This merger will
bring about several changes within both companies. In this paper I will be providing
the different changes between both companies with the merger including the culture,

Wild Survival Tactics
The tactics that you use to survive in the wilderness will differ depending on a
variety of factors like the time of year and the equipment that you have. No matter
what, there are certain basic steps that you will need to follow to survive in the
wild. If you find yourself stranded in the wilderness, focus on the following tasks:
Find a Good Campsite
The ideal location is one on higher ground, meaning on the top of a hill or a ridge.
This keeps you out of spots where water may come toward you in a flash flood. In
addition, the perfect campsite is one that is close to plentiful sources of dry wood
and clean water. When you find the right site, clear it of anything that might catch
fire like twigs or dry leaves. Inspect the area carefully ... Show more content on

Rain snow and dew are good sources of clean water, but may not be available.
Other sources include puddles and streams but these may not be as safe. Your best
bet for rendering this water safe to drink is to boil it. Boiling is not always an
option so it is good to include water purification tablets among your survival gear.
Some vines and cacti can also provide water if you take the time to squeeze it out of
them. Identify Edible Plants
Plants are an excellent nutritional resource for someone stranded in the wilderness.
They are loaded with vitamins and minerals and some require very little preparation.
The key will be identifying the right ones as there are many that can make you sick
or kill you. Look for the characteristics of poisonous plants like spines, thorns or a
bitter taste. Note that there are many edible plants with these characteristics; these are
just guidelines to follow if you cannot make a positive identification. Learn to spot
amaranth, asparagus and chicory. These common edible plants grow wild in North
America. Weather

human became imperfect, so the imperfect human being can t from perfect feats. No
human accomplishments can be qualified perfectly, thus to seek perfectionism is a
dream or utopia. Moreover, the research shows us a lot of theories need to be
enhanced in exact sciences; mathematics, physics biology, also in social sciences.
Therefore, the problem with perfectionism is as to cut the air in the hands. However,
a humancan realize the extraordinary feats in timeand space. Although perfectionism
undermines excellence, the history and the present are still the witness of the
perfectionist talents as James Watt, who modified the steam machine of Newcomen
and Savery, Michelangelo, and Steve Jobs for Apple s and iPhone, so on, which
perfectionist endeavors contributed to impact the society positively. However, the
problem with the perfectionists needs to recognize the human being limit which can t
create perfect efforts.
Perfectionism is an obstacle for the creativity because it spotlights the efforts to attain
the result out of the achievement. Furthermore, because perfectionists often focus on
problems and weaknesses, rather than strengths and opportunities, this can create a
highly negative climate (Livesey, 2016). Sieving people capacities to generate the
innovative ideas, perfectionism makes people afraid to effort doing an endeavor that
the world can judge you unable creating additional items.
Propaganda Against Propaganda Essay
Title: Propaganda against Propaganda: Deconstructing the Dominant Narrative of the
Print Media during the Biafra War.1967 1970
The news coverage of the war has been of particular relevance to media and
communication researchers. This interest is due to the violence in conflicts, its
importance to the people, the vast amount of finance, men and equipment poured
into it. The study of media and war has spurred a contention on the role of the
objectivity during a conflict. For a journalist covering a war, the ideal should be,

A Satirical Article On Cultural Relativism Essay
Cultural relativism is the way in which our individual beliefs and opinions should
be understood by others of the same or of different cultures. The Charlie Hebdo
media murders in France January 2015 is a fine example of the way in which the
views of the world are diverse depending on different cultural perspectives. Charlie
Hebdo is a satirical weekly newspaper, it takes contentious world issues such as
religion and politics and holds them up to the world with the intent to disgrace
individuals, cooperation s and society in order to get them to improve. Due to its
almost antagonistic manner it was a successful target of a terrorist attack . Two
armed gunmen stormed the office and killed eleven members of staff claiming they
were defending the Prophet Muhammad.
Growing up in a country like New Zealand where freedom of expression is not only
defended but encouraged, it is easy to understand why Charlie Hebdo chooses to
adopt that same right to use as a platform to create humour out of democracy and
religion. Their main aim being to reflect current events in a satirical way in order to
shame society into changing. Some of this humour can be mistaken for bigotry and
disrespect by minorities such as Muslim s, however the newspaper does not aim
directly toward the minor religions of France, rather religion as a whole. According
to the Central Intelligence Agency the percentage of each Religion is vastly
disjointed Roman Catholic 83% 88%, Protestant 2%, Jewish 1%, Muslim
Compare And Contrast Maggie And Million Dollar Baby
The arena was full of loud noises, cheering, screaming. Bodies filled the room so
close each was touching others bodies sweating vigorously this was the rush, the
beginning of a fight. The book Million Dollar Baby by F.X Toole and the movie
directed by Clint Eastwood, Compared, The movie is more detailed. This is
because of the characterization, plot and point of view in which both stories are
told. First and foremost the movie is more detailed because of characterization.
Firstly based upon how maggie is portrayed. Maggie is a more detailed character
because you see more of her personality she is seen more as a living breathing
emotional human being this is expressed poorly in the book but more strongly in
the movie. the way she said it was more like a statement then a question, and she
spoke with a hillbilly accent. Two thick braid of auburn hair hung down behind each
ear framing a freckled face and a pair of agate eyes like frankie s daughter. She was
maybe 5 9 and weighed a fit 140 she was relaxed and stood gracefully her weighed
balanced on both feet and despite a broken nose she was a loker. (pg#1). Opposed
to the way she is imaged in the movie the way maggie s actor characterizes maggie
fits better because there is more emotion and emphasis on maggie s character as a
whole in the movie Maggie s expressions make her seem joyful and happy yet
determined like a child on christmas morning seeing all the presents under the tree,
she was excited to learn what layed
Ethical Dilemmas In Medical Research
Doctors have always been thought of as the caretakers of mankind and that is why
the type of medicine performed by the doctors of Nazi Germany was so shocking,
egregious and immoral that it violated the trust placed in them by humanity. The
Holocaust seems so far removed from our reality today, and it may be hard for
people to imagine the horrors inflicted by such doctors as Joseph Mengele and others
in the name of medical advancement . There is no doubt that these experimentations
are viewed as barbaric, unethical and thinly veiled under the guise of science. Many
feel that findings from these studies should never be published or used. An ethical
and moral dilemma still remains today as some of the research resulted in data that

One of the most gruesome and well known doctors of human experimentation
during the Holocaust was Josef Mengele. He was known as the Angel of Death
(citation) or the White Angel for his cold and cruel demeanor during the camp
selection process (6). Mengele performed many horrific experiments on twins.
Most experiments were performed on Jewish and Roma (Gypsy) children in the
context of finding out the genetic origins of disease and to also to see if he could
unlock the secret of multiple births in the hopes of increasing the German race. Of
the 1000 set of twins that were experimented on, only 200 sets survived. (7). If
Mengele did not deem the patients worthy of being kept alive, he would have their
bodies dissected and cataloged. Mengele did such atrocious things to these children
such as injecting lethal chemicals into their eyes in the hopes of creating blue eyes, a
requirement for his pursuit of the perfect Aryan specimen (6). He also injected the
patients with mysterious concoctions or syringes filled with diseases such as typhus
or tuberculosis to see the effects on the body. Another of his atrocities involved
sewing twins together in the hopes of creating his own set of Siamese twins.
Moreover, Mengele performed surgeries without anesthesia for such things as
amputations, organ removal and
Elementary Social Studies Methods Tina C. Denning
Final ELED 424 Elementary Social Studies MethodsTina C. Denning
At the beginning of this term the beliefs statements were as follows:
1) Social Studies is a social relationship in a number of studies (history, geography,
etc.). Noting a past of memorization of dates and names, and no relevance therefore,
nothing was memorable or had any importance.
2) How I want to teach social studies? Taking information and making it fun so
students can remember it longer and using groups not limiting ourselves to textbooks.
3) Dates are important and dates are not important. History has importance but not
every date and in an age of instant information knowing how to find the needed
information and correct information is vital.
4) Find Relevance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These 4 beliefs are more important now because of the short amount of time that was
spent in a 4th grade classroom. Combining the two sets of beliefs will be shown in a
new social studies belief statement.
1) Meaningful Relevance: In practicum the lesson was citizenship and the three
branches of government. To make this meaningful to the students and then relevant
was impressive. Mrs. Anderson asked the core of the lesson plan on the first three
days to give the basics. This was relatively easy and the students made it easier by
doing their jobs and learning. On day four, Mrs. Anderson walked the students
through the process of how a bill becomes a law. She divided the students into the
House of Representatives, Congress, and a President. She provided bills that
lobbyist wanted to be a law. She guided them through a bill becoming a law and a
vetoed bill. The students were 100% actively engaged and enjoying the lesson. She
knew the students and how to divide them up and how to both engage them, keep
them engaged and still teach a meaningful/relevant lesson.
This is the top of the belief list because it is something that is also not limited to just
social studies. Attempts were made to include this in practicum but it is something
that will take some time. The engagement part may be easy but maintaining the
energy takes more than just showing up with an activity but making it meaningful for

What Is Queen Elizabeth s Style
Queen Elizabeth Style King Henry VIII was king of England from 1509 to 1547;
he had three children Elizabeth, Mary, and Edward. Elizabeth became Queen
Elizabeth I of England during the Renaissance period after her sister Mary died.
The Renaissance is often referred to as the Elizabethan Era because Queen
Elizabeth had an impact on politics, arts, and religion. She also changed many
aspects of fashion for men and women. The fashion world during the Renaissance
period was highly influenced by Queen Elizabeth s unique style. One part of
Elizabeth s style was her hair and makeup which were obtained by using odd
techniques. A series of dyes, paints, and plucking were used in the daily hair and
makeup routines of Queen Elizabeth. Pasty complexions... Show more content on

Men and women began caring more about their wardrobe for public appearances and
in their home life. Ladies of status would use Elizabeth s gowns as an example for
their own. Many nobles throughout Europe chose to use Queen Elizabeth I of England
as their fashion inspiration. They began using more details like embroidery and
jewels. Even the new and growing middle class could afford detailing, expensive
gowns, and beauty treatments (Daily 186). Pale, translucent skin and red hair were
in. The Women wanted Elizabeth s red hair so badly that they would try dying
their hair with harsh chemicals, and if that caused all their hair to fall out, they
would just wear red wigs. Once Queen Elizabeth s teeth began to rot and blacken,
women went as far as darkening their own teeth to follow the mighty trend setter.
The wigs eventually became more popular than dying their own hair. She not only
influenced the women s fashion of the renaissance, but also the men s fashion. Just
like the women wished for a perfect clinched waist line the men also wore corsets
to gain that perfect figure. For men the perfect figure was a V shaped torso
keeping the pot belly in the center of the V like a pea in a pod (Elizabeth 3 of 8).
The men even began to add detailing to their garments like; expensive fabrics,
embroidery, ruffles, jewels, and even ruff collars sometimes reaching a length of a
foot all the way around (De Secondat 99). During Elizabeth s rule a new class
began to rise and grow, called the middle class. Sumptuary laws were made even
stricter to make sure everyone would not forget their place in the class system. This
separated each class by what they were allowed to wear and what they were not.
Queen Elizabeth wanted to make known that the middle class was still lower than her
court and herself (Daily

see on screen help them form their own values and opinions about the world

through fictional characters and events. And for teenagers, it is even more
important to find something they can relate to during a period in their life when
they are still trying to figure out who they are in society. High school is a place for
teenagers to build an idea of what kind of people they want to be in the future, and

Home Color Analysis
What colors do you have on the walls around your house? Many homeowners make
their personal mark by painting the walls of their homes with bold colors. That is
great if you are planning on living there for a few more years. But, if you are selling
your home, that personal color scheme is not a selling point.
If you are preparing your home for sale, painting is a cheap way to freshen the space.
But, what is the best interior wall color for selling your home?
The Best Colors to Sell Your Home
Your front door is what greets guests and potential home buyers first. This is the
place to use bold color if possible. Find a color that works well with your exterior
colors. Red is a classic choice that invites good fortune and wealth according to
ancient lore. Green is a great way to bring your landscape right up to your front step.

It is what sets the tone for the rest of your home. Pick a warm, light earth tone color
for this part of your home. Taupes and greys with a hint of red underneath or a
buttercream will do the trick. These serve as a great start for other colors in the rest
of your home.
The kitchen is one of the biggest selling points your home has. Going overly bold
with color in this room can actually put some buyers off. Stay within the warm earth
tone family of colors. A dusty sage works well with many cabinet colors as does an
earthy terracotta. If the kitchen is part of an open plan living area, continue this color
throughout and use a different color on one wall as an accent.
If you have a separate formal living and/or dining space, don t go crazy with a deep
blue or green on the walls. Bisque is a classic color that goes well with almost any
color scheme, yet lends itself to the formality of the
Apple And Android Vs. Android
Apple or Android? This is a question several people ask themselves before
purchasing certain electronics today. Both Apple and Android are especially
dominant in the phone market where they have been competing head to head with
each other for around a decade. Both also have some rather interesting background
history, from the development of their devices to the great masterminds behind the
tech. It is also fascinating to take a look back in time and compare what was then
to what is now and see how much technology has evolved in a relatively short
amount of time. But one has to be superior to the other, right? Apple is better and
more superior when compared to Android because it has a richer and more
interesting history, sells more smartphones than their leading Android competitor,
and their tablets offer better prices and functions than Androids . Both Apple and
Android have a great, and rather interesting, history behind them, but Apple s is
quite the story. Most people don t realize this, but Apple has been around for
decades. The company was created way back in 1976 which is quite a while ago.
But it wasn t until 1997, when Steve Jobs took over as the CEO of the company,
that Apple pronounced itself as one of the world s leading corporations in
electronics. Steve Jobs is a very recognizable name round the world and this is due
because of the great success he had while at Apple. When Jobs took over as the CEO
Apple was on the verge of bankruptcy, but he turned everything
Jumping Frog
Based on Mark Twain s comparisons of a comic versus humorous story, The
Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, is Twain s most famous humorous
story. How to Tell a Story by Mark Twain is clearly shown in this jumping frog
story and abides by the rules he has set forth according to the countless expert
storytellers he has heard from by word of mouth. Today we will explore what
makes the jumping frog story a humorous one rather an a witty one and explain
how Twain accomplished what he did. From the subject of telling a story gravely ,
how one tells a nub , and how it contrasts to a comical story. The secret is being
expressionless. Twain mention that in order to master a humorous story, it must be
told gravely. Well, what does that exactly mean? In the first few paragraphs we can
see how our author presents Simon Wheeler as seemingly to have an impartialness,
neutrality, yet true genuineness about him as he tells the story. To the author, nothing
seemed ridiculous to him no matter how crazy the story progressed. That is exactly
what gravely means. When a person builds up a story as a bland, ordinary thing
although it is evidently the contrary, it becomes the most comedic tale, and that is
what Twain takes advantage of in Wheeler s personality, whether he realizes it or not.

It clearly validates that elitism is not contradictory to popularization and windsurfing
is a favourable demonstration of the above. After the victory of Lee Lai Shan at the
1996 Atlanta Centennial Olympics, Hong Kong government invested a considerable
amount of resources in windsurfing. Judo can absolutely follow the track of
windsurfing since some marvellous Judo players are performing outstandingly in the
international competitions; for example, YU Kin Ting captured a gold medal in
Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games. Promoting judo to Tier A, therefore, helps the
promotion of Judo in the community in fact, which simultaneously indicates that the
elevation of Judo is an essential and compulsory element in the process of
popularization and the road of Judo for all .

other aspects brought on by sports, such as, health status enhancement, socio cultural

Aging Population Issues Paper
I believe the most pressing issue facing the aging population on a daily basis is
financial security while living on a fixed income. Aging individuals sources of
income include Social Security, employment, private pensions, and assets. The
median household income for those 65 and older in 2007 was only $27, 798
(Hooyman Kiyak, 2011). I chose financial security as the most pressing issue facing
the older population because it influences several other areas. Sources of income for
the agingpopulation are sometimes insufficient to maintain proper housing, may
cause health problems, and restricts access to nursing homes and assisted living
facilities. The difficulty that the lack of financial security can pose for an aging

Kant s Moral Philosophy Depicted In The Film Gone Baby
Gone
After, I read chapter three and watch the film Gone Baby Gone , I deeply having

The Collapse Of The Aztec Civilization
People often wonder how a civilisation as advanced as the Aztecs could have
collapsed within 2 years of the arrival of foreigners. The Aztecs arrived in
Tenochtitlan (modern Mexico City) in 1325 CE, and the empire collapsed 200
years later, in 1521 CE. The pivotal event that assisted in the collapse of the
civilisation was the arrival of conquistador Hernan CortГ©s. The main factors that
assisted CortГ©s were tribal warfare, the Aztec religion, disease, and the difference
between Aztec and Spanish military technology. Disease played a significant role in
the downfall of the Aztecs, because it killed 25% of the population, including major
military leaders. (The Fall of the Aztec Empire, 2006) The Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan,

and how it weakened them as they died. The sight of these foreigners, immune to
this disease, as everyone they knew died, would have had an immense psychological

Bariatric Surgery
Bariatric Surgery is derived from the Greek words weight and treatment . Bariatric
Surgeries are major gastrointestinal operations that seal off most of the stomach to
reduce the amount of food one can eat and they rearrange the small intestine to reduce
the calories the bodies can absorb. Weight loss operations fall into three categories.
The first category is the Restrictive procedures make the stomach smaller to limit the
amount of food intake. The second category is the Malabsorptive techniques reduce
the amount of intestine that comes in contact with food so that the body absorbs
fewer calories and the third category is a combination of the operations that employ

Realism In Tony Kushner s Angels In America
Angels in America: Millennium Approaches by Tony Kushner can be
conventionally defined as a work of Theatricalism. Breaking the preconceived
notions of theatre such as gender casting, fluent scenes, and varying extremes
ranging from characters, to visuals, to the introduction of historical figures.
However, the work strikes a note of realism. We find ourselves encompassed by
passionate actors sharing real emotions with us, scenes based in historical events,
and characters placed in events that we then find to be our own realities. While we
find our realities to be true and heightened by those in the work could it be possible
that some of these characters realities are in fact false, or being defined by the
theatricality that surrounds them? Harper serves as an emotionally charged wife to

Canada s second largest export market in the Middle East (Gauthier, 2011). As a
result of this there is a definite commercial interest since it is a possible market for
International Trade Canada (ITC). It is worth appreciating the fact that the Canada
and its allies perceive the Middle East nation as a gradually stabilizing force. The fact
that the light armored vehicles are made in Canada means that they are a key source
employment (Chase, 2015). This partly explains why the conservative government is
reluctant to halt the transfer of the arms for fear of contributing to
Kyrie Irving Essay
How would you feel if your principal asked a celebrity speaker to come to your
school? I think that Kyrie Irving should be the celebrity speaker. Kyrie is a great
basketball player and he loves his fans so why wouldn t he want to come. Kyrie is a
great motivator to children everywhere that want to be in the NBA. Kyrie is a better
speaker than anybody else because he probably won t make you pay.Kyrie is one of
the best players in the NBA who would not want to meet him. In a regular game, he
has 24.6 points that s pretty good. His career total points are 7,696 points WOW. His
FG % is .466 still pretty good. His 3p% is .383 not bad. Plus his team was in the
finals the last 2 years and the Cavs are in it this year. Kyrie is one of the

Exponential Growth
Ray Kurzweil discusses the rate of technology will no longer be linear, it will now
follow an exponential growth rate. He explains that the exponential growth will
continue to accelerate at a fast pace than we can ever think of. Although it will not
reach infinity it is still fast enough to make an impact on our world. Though
progression will be slow at first it will eventually take off. It will be thousands of
year of progress made in a matter of decades. Ray Kurzweil comes up with the law
of accelerating returns to explain the exponential growth rate. He talks about a
number of things, the first being that progress comes from the work of the
evolutionary stage. It is the work at this stage that allow us to continue forward.
Secondly, this exponential growth will lead to an increase in returns. This
exponential growth will lead to more effort and resources put toward the future
progress, leading the exponential growth rate to grow even more. Lastly, Kurzweil
believes that the biological and technological fields will go through this evolutionary
process that will indeed lead to an exponential growth rate. Kurzweil later in his
essays discusses the law of accelerating returns will decrease the size of technology
but increase their potential. Kurzweil discusses... Show more content on

that enters your brain and can know your whole life, feel what you feel, see what you

human, which can seem like a high price to pay in order perform at a fast pace just

still be a part of us? Will it be possible to keep the essence of who we are if we

The Necklace Essay
In The Necklace, Guy de Maupassant reveals imagery very well throughout the
poem. Mrs. Loisel feels her life is just not enough. She is constantly complaining,
asking for more or daydreaming of what she could have. The Madame is very
discontent with everything in her day to day life and cannot seem to find the good in
it. This piece of literature contains vivid images to reveal the character of Madame
Mathilide Loisel.
The first example he uses is when Mrs. Mathilide is thinking about what her life
could be if she had more money. She thought of the silent antechambers hung with
Oriental tapestry, lit by tall bronze candelabra s, and one of the great footmen in
knee breeches who slept in the big armchairs, made drowsy by the heavy warmth
of the hot air stove. , is a sentence where I could literally see the small room leading
out to the hallway (68). I am able to see the Asian artwork hanging on the candlelit
walls and the footmen falling asleep on one of the great loveseats. I am able to smell

happy to be there in her new ball gown and her borrowed diamond necklace from
Madame Forestier (70). After all of Mrs. Mathilide s drama about what to wear when
her husband gave her the invitation, she had an amazing night dancing away.
Lastly, the author does a great job displaying how Mrs. Loisel really is day to day.
On page 72, he describes her doing her wifely duties by washing the dishes and dirty
clothes. He also talks about how she dressed like a woman of the people , going from
market to market bargaining, insulted, defending her miserable money sou by sou

Nuclear Weaponry
Dexter Gordon once said, In nuclear war all men are cremated equal . Since the era
when the first bow and arrow was created, humanity has been treading on the fine
path of incessant vehemence. There are a countless number of reasons why people
participate in altercations, from petty issues such as who lost the keys to more
momentous disagreements such as those of Civil Rights or rightful independence.
Today in the 21st century, not only have the disagreements evolved but so has the
artillery that is used for defense and offense during a battle. Almost 64,000 years after
the first weapon was developed, man has machinated an armament that is
unfathomably more destructive and precarious than the antiquated bow and arrow:
the nuclear bomb.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Analogously, another Japanese nuclear blast that occurred in Nagasaki, an
industrialized city with a natural harbor, killed an estimated 42,000 people and
injured 40,000 people ( The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ). Rosalie Bertel, a
researcher, has estimated that the global victims of the radiation pollution related to
nuclear weapon production, testing, use and waste conservatively number 13 million
( The Effects of Nuclear Weapons ). Not only does nuclear warfare directly affect
humans but it also has a significant impact on the environment . The practice of
nuclear warfare has polluted air and water since this tactic has begun. Many of the
substances emmissioned, include plutonium, uranium, strontium, cesium, benzene,
polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), mercury and cyanide, which are carcinogenic and
/or mutagenic ( The Effects of Nuclear Weapons ). These pollutants remain hazardous
for hundreds of thousands of years. However, the result of the release of these
pollutants is not necessarily due to the eruption of a nuclear bomb but , perhaps even,
from the testing and manufacturing of such weapons. Radioactivity released from
nuclear testing includes plutonium, strontium, cesium, and carbon 14 ( The Effects of
Nuclear Weapons ). Moreover, underground tests have contaminated soil and
groundwater.

Synthesis Essay On Legalizing Marijuana
Imagine a world where marijuana became legalized. Most believe that legalizing
marijuana would would be a be dangerous thing to do and should stay illegal ,
while others see it as a use of good reliable sources. From a philosophical point of
view, individuals deserve the right to make choices for themselves. Marijuana has
been tested and proven to provide a very positive impact on the American society
for many reasons. Some of these reasons are for America s economy, health and
even crime. The debate to legalize marijuana in the United States of America has

over a decade in prison, for nothing more than possession of cannabis for personal
use. These arrests being made take officers away from more urgent issues,(Source

Theory Of Inventive Problem Solving
TRIZ: Theory of Inventive Problem Solving
1.State the Problem: API precipitating out of solution product.
Precipitation of API from the solution is due to the insolubility of any API in
solution. Solubility of API in solution is depends on various parameters like pH,
temperature, compatibility with other ingredients, and formulation procedure and
saturation solubility of the various components in the vehicle. If the drug and vehicle
are incompatible with each other than also the precipitation may occur.
2.Parameters in conflicts with each other using the 39 engineering parameters.
Using the 39 engineering parameters, following parameters found to be conflicting
with each other in the process of identifying solution for the problem by applying
TRIZ methodology.
Temperature Vs. Harmful side effect:
Solubility of API in solution can be achieved at elevated temperatures than at room
temperature or below by heat transfer mechanism that enhances dissolution. But
attention has to be paid not to exceed minimally required temperature, because API
degradation may cause at elevated temperature that lead to product deterioration. In
addition, if volatile solutes or solvents were used, the heat would lead to loss of these
agents in atmosphere and reduce product yield.
Complexity of device Vs. Energy Consumption:
The increase rate of solution and homogeneous mixing in solution can be achieved by
modifying the design of the homogenizers, using different impeller type, size and
speed

Islam s Anti Western Appeal and its Role in Establishing an Iranian Republic
Like a series of mirrors facing each other, the revolution depended for its success on a
series of perceptions of perceptions. With this image, Michael Axworthy, a
contemporary historian, aptly argues that the Iranian revolution of 1978 79 was
possible because people believed that their grievances against the Shah were
widespread, thereby creating a gradual sense of unified opposition. Mohammad Reza
Shah, the second Pahlavi monarch who ruled Iran from 1941 1979, lived a lavish and
alienating lifestyle, trying to emulate western society. With growing discontent
towards the Shah and his westernizing reforms, Iranians turned to the Shia Ulema, the
Iranian clergy, and other groups for guidance. Demanding a return to traditional
culture, which took the form of religious fundamentalism and a separation from the
materialism of the west, the Iranian masses rebelled against the Shah s regime in
1978 79. Because of the Shah s failure to embrace the economic and social reforms
proposed by the opposition, the Iranian masses overthrew the Shah and united around
the charismatic Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeinito establish an Islamic Republic.
With discontent growing towards the Shah and his westernizing reforms throughout
the mid 1900s, religion became the voice of the opposition led by the Ayatollah
Khomeini. As a result of the Shah s social and economic reforms, however, the Ulema

ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to clarify the similarities and differences
between job shops and flow shops as well as advise with regard to facility layout.
The selection of a job shop or flow shop layout should be made based upon the
properties and characteristics the manufacturers desire to have in place for producing
their products. These considerations will ultimately result in cost saving measures as
well as increases in overall efficiency. I.Explanation of the Defining Attributes
Elements of Job Shops A production environment in which similar operations and

FIGURE 2: THREE PRODUCT FLOW SHOP LAYOUT Above is an example of a
product oriented layout, which is in this case a flow shop. While some of the lines
contain the same machinery, the flow lines never cross. Flow shops always have
the same starting and ending points as well. Types of Flow Shops The no wait
flow shop requires that once a job has started it must be processed until completion
without any interruption either on or between machines. This implies that the
starting time of a job at the first machine has to be delayed to ensure that the job
can go through the flow shop without having to wait for any machine. This type of
scheduling is necessary were operations are required to follow one after the other
due to production constraints, such as the production of steel or plastic molding.
Manufacturing environments that use robots and industrial machines can be
modeled as a no wait process. Assumptions that are taken in the no wait flow shop
include the following: Job operation times are deterministic and known in advance;
a job consists of a strictly ordered sequence of operations; the same job sequence is
assumed for each job, but machine skipping is allowed (10). Instead if using a series
of machines, a group of parallel machines exists in a flow shop environment and
work is done in stages. A flow shop is considered flexible when it

Some people are shy while others are outgoing and some people are optimistic and some are pessimistic. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between a personality trait and a disorder. Personality disordersare diagnosed when ways of seeing, interpreting, or behaving in the world become inflexible and maladaptive. A personality disordercauses distress to self or others. A person with a personality disorder has trouble perceiving and relating to situations and to people. This causes significant problems and limitations in relationships, social encounters, work and school (Personality 2015). When diagnosing a patient, it is important ... Cluster B is the wild cluster. People with these disorders have very dramatic, emotional or erratic behaviors. Cluster C personality disorders are characterized by anxious, fearful thinking or behavior. This cluster includes dependent personality disorder (Personality 2015). Dependent personality disorder (DPD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed personality disorders. The terrifying fear of being left alone and being abandoned are both signs of DPD. When faced with this disorder you really cling to other people, usually a significant other. You get self satisfaction by being wanted by another person. Fourteen percent of people with personality disorders are diagnosed with DPD (Ekern 2013). The causes of dependent personality disorder to this day are unknown. Both biological and developmental factors are most likely involved (Dependent 2015). There are multiple speculations as to why people obtain this disorder like overprotective parenting. Also, one s social environment can play a role in DPD. In all most all cases the patient experiencing DPD has faced some sort of abuse or trauma, making them stick to another person (Ekern
  • 3. Argumentative Essay On Gifted Children Arbitrary, too narrow in scope, and biased are just a few of the things that come up when psychologists, teachers and parents discuss how to determine if children are gifted and talented. In the United States, 6 to 10 percent of school age children are labeled gifted and are placed into classes that cater to their advanced abilities (National Association of Gifted Children, 2014). School age children, in some states, can be as young as four years old. A lot of the controversy starts right there: how can four year olds be expected to take a challenging IQ assessment and then have their score on that test determine their classroom placement for the next 13 years? Lewis Terman, an American psychologist and professor at Stanford University, was a pioneer in the understanding of gifted children and their place in the American education system. He was majorly influenced by Alfred Binet and eventually revised the Binet Stanford scale so that it could be used in the United States, where it is now known as the Stanford Binet IntelligenceScale (Human Intelligence, 2013). A major contribution of his was the definition of what makes a child gifted. According to Terman, an Intelligence Quotient(IQ) of at least 130 marks giftedness, he even believed that any child who scored a 132 or higher was a genius (Steinberg, Bornstein, Vandell, Rook, 2011). To measure intelligence, he expanded on William Sterns equation stating that IQ is a person s mental age and chronological age

  • 5. The Impact Of The Mental Health Act The Mental Health Act R.S.O. (1990) is a comprehensive piece of provincial legislation which regulates mental health care in Ontario. Although it can be assumed that the legislation applies to all mental health services and supports (Schizophrenic Society of Ontario, 2013), the laws described in the Mental HealthAct ( MHA ) apply only to psychiatric units in hospitals, and specialized psychiatric facilities within the province (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health [CAMH], 2012), and to the patients who are under observation, care or treatment in these facilities or under a community treatment order (Mental Health Act, 1990). Although amendments have been made (Ontario. Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, 2015), there are issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These amendments include references to disordered behaviour, thought, or perception that severely impairs judgement or capacity, of which psychiatric intervention is advised (Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act, 2005). The broad definition contained within the MHA leaves the term mental disorder open to interpretation, which may result in inconsistencies among Ontario psychiatric admissions. According to the Mental Health Act (1990), a community treatment order offers a less restrictive alternative to being held in a psychiatric unit or facility. Introduced to the MHA in 2000, a community treatment order is a comprehensive plan of community based care that sets out the criteria for the management and treatment of psychiatric outpatients (Byrick, K., Walker Renshaw, B., 2016). However, research by Mfoafo M Carthy and Williams (2010) has suggested that community treatment orders are unethical. Under a community treatment order, treatment typically requires an individual to comply with medications that a physician believes is necessary for their normal function in the community (Ontario. Ministry of Heath and Long Term Care, 2016). The MHA has been termed unconstitutional based on its violation of the human right to life and liberty by mandating that an individual participate in outpatient treatment (Picard, 2013), including medication compliance. Apprehensions under the MHA attempt to divert an individual with a mental

  • 8. Art Museum Reflection Paper Before visiting the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) to observe and analyze the art covered in class, I made sure to read the museum s mission statement. That way, it would be in my mind as I walked through the halls and moved from gallery to gallery and I could revisit it afterward. According to Seattle Art Museum s executive summary and strategic plan for 2014 2017, the museum s mission is a simple one: to connect art to life. Through art, the Seattle Art Museum enriches lives and engages diverse communities. As the leading visual art institution in the Pacific Northwest, SAM draws on its global collections, powerful exhibitions, and dynamic programs to provide unique educational resources benefiting the Seattle region, the Pacific Northwest, and beyond (Seattle Art Museum). Regarding the fact that I am writing this now and had the opportunity to observe and research many works of art proves their mission to be successful. Walking into the museum, I noticed that it already appeared to be much bigger on the inside than it did on the outside. The first two floors were lit mostly by natural light and provided museum visitors access to tickets, information about the museum, the gift shop, and some food. The remaining floors were dimmer and mostly just the art pieces were given light to eliminate distraction. The American, Native American, and modern/contemporary art was displayed on the third floor while the African, European, and Mediterranean art was found on the top floor. The three art pieces that interested me the most were all found on the third floor in mostly the modern and contemporary art section. To, help uncover the power of detail behind the artwork, I chose three pieces corresponding to abstract and abstract expressionismfrom artists Jackson Pollock, Josef Albers, and Eva Hesse to research and truly analyze. The first powerful example of abstract art and in this case, abstract expressionism, comes from Jackson Pollock. Paul Jackson Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming, in 1912, to a family with four other sons. When Pollock was nine years old, his father abandoned the family and returned when only after Pollock had already moved out of the house. Though his childhood was a fairly rough, he loved nature
  • 9. Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems, Nature And Nurture... Development psychology has many ideas of how humans are influence during their development. The ones that this paper will be covering are the Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems, nature and nurture influences and cultural influences. I have also given my own personal influence to further demonstrate my understanding of each idea. The Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems is a model created by psychologist Urie Bronfenbrenner that refers to five structures of which an individual interacts with that impacts their development. The structures are referred to as systems in the model and there are five systems: Microsystem, Mesosystem, Exosystem, Macrosystem, Chronosystem. The Microsystem refers to the environment that has a direct influence on an individual; school, home, place of worship, teachers, and peers are included in the Microsystem. A personal example is that my mother, an extremely prominent figure in any person s Microsystem, noticed that I had a rather good potential for working on creative stories. As a direct influence on me, she gave me praise on the stories that I showed her and gave me encouragement to continue working on my writing. Therefore, she directly influenced my psychological development since her praise heightened my self esteem and allowed me to have a good self image of myself thanks to the environment I was raised in. The Mesosystem refers to the interactions that occur between the systems, such as how one s school life interacts with one s home life.

People are mainly protesting the CSSTA [Cross Strait Service Trade Agreement, CSSTA] against the untransparent processes. This agreement, passed without the regular procedure, underlines the dark side of the Ma government and how it simultaneously summons up civilians to deeply think about what is now striking the democracy in Taiwan. In addition to the domestic problems originating from the CSSTA, the other vital issue our nation is encountering now is that Taiwan is standing at a lower position in this financial game. The scales and structures of business are totally different between Taiwan and China. • 11. Nuclear Disarmament Persuasive Speech In April 2009 President Barack Obama made a speech in Prague in which he pledged to work towards achieving worldwide nuclear disarmament. He called for the banning of nuclear tests and the strengthening of the Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty and declared that the United States would lead by example and take considerable steps towards achieving a nuclear weaponfree world. This vision of a nuclear weapon free world falls in line with Global Zero , an initiative launched in Paris in December 2008 by George Shultz, Henry Kissinger, William Perry, and Sam Nunn campaigns for complete nuclear disarmament. (Global Zero, 2016) The speech evoked mixed responses from both advocates and critics alike. It can be argued, that although the President s aspirations are both honorable and praiseworthy, there are ground realities that make the execution of this plan, as well as wide acceptability of the project rather challenging. First and foremost, it is important to explore what steps the Obama administration have taken themselves in order to work towards achieving nuclear disarmament and if these have been substantial. It has now been seven years since the President gave his speech in Prague. A year after his speech, in April 6 2010, the Obama administration released a Nuclear Posture Review (NPR). The NPR emphasizes on the need to counter nuclear proliferation and terrorism and stresses on keeping other countries from acquiring Nuclear weapons. It also reduces the role of Nuclear
  • 12. Strategic Assessment Of Risk Assessment Methodologies Mostly all security methodologies call for some kind of objective assessment of risks. This is simply so because, security controls selections are centered on the known risks there are to an organization s assets and operations. There is also an alternative, which would consist of randomly selecting securitycontrols without using any type of methodical threat or control analysis. If the alternative method is used to implement the security controls, there will be issues such as: having security controls implemented in the wrong places, and the organization will be left vulnerable to unanticipated threats and resources will be wasted. Risk assessment methodologies establishes rules for what is to be assessed and establishes who will need to be involved. Risk assessment methodologies also establishes the terminology that will be used when discussing the risk, establishes the degree of risk when quantifying, qualifying, and comparing risk, and they also help to establish what documentation must be collected as a result of the assessments. The two most popular risk assessment methodologies that are used today are: OCTAVE (Operationally Critical Threat, Asset, and Vulnerability Evaluation) which was developed at Carnegie Mellon University, and the NIST risk assessment methodology that is documented in NIST Special Publication 800 30. The OCTAVE methodology is a method that is used when assessing an organization s information security needs. The most recently developed and
  • 13. Analysis Of The Man To Send Rain Clouds The short story The Man to Send Rain Clouds by Leslie Marmon Silko is a deceptively simple narrative about the death and funeral of an old man of the Laguna Pueblo tribe of Native Americans. Set in the desert southwest of the United States, the story is narrated from an omniscient point of view, and describes the discovery of the old man s body, the preparation of the body for burial, and the interaction between the family of the dead man and the Catholic priest who lives on the reservation. The author uses very simple language and unsophisticated descriptions to describe an intricate and complex relationship between the Christian culture of the priest and the religious culture of the Pueblo culture. Ken hands him paint and he decorates the old man s face with stripes of white, blue, yellow and green stripes. Leon tosses pinches of cornmeal and pollen into the air. The narrator does not describe the significance of these actions, but it is obvious that these are ritualistic activities that have to do with funeral rites. The men wrap the corpse in a red blanket and carry it up to their truck. At this point the reader becomes aware that the men must have anticipated that Teofilo was dead when they went out to the sheep encampment. Why else would they have brought the paint, cornmeal, pollen, and red blanket? The men appear to be filling their parts in a predetermined drama. Before placing the blanket wrapped body in the back of the truck, Leon addresses Teofilo s corpse: Bring us rain clouds, Grandfather. (Silko, p. 358). On their way home, the men encounter the local priest, Father Paul. The priest asks them if they have located Teofilo, and they demur, telling him only that everything is fine at the camp. The priest interprets this to mean that Teofilio is well, and he tells them that the old man is too frail to be left at the sheep camp alone. The men assure him that they won t be doing that again, and the priest and the men part. The priest believes that they have

Lyman Lamartine is a young man whose brother has just returned from the Vietnam War and has been traumatized by what he had seen overseas. Before the war, Lyman and his brother Henry were extremely close. Before Henry departed for the war, and as Lyman recounts in the story, the two bonded over a red convertible. But he was such a loner now that I didn t know how to take it. When Henry returns, he has no desire to ride in the red convertible, no desire to wear the bright colored clothes he used to dawn instead Henry just liked to sit around and sob about the war. No matter what, there are certain basic steps that you will need to follow to survive in the wild. If you find yourself stranded in the wilderness, focus on the following tasks: Find a Good Campsite The ideal location is one on higher ground, meaning on the top of a hill or a ridge. This keeps you out of spots where water may come toward you in a flash flood. In addition, the perfect campsite is one that is close to plentiful sources of dry wood and clean water. A Satirical Article On Cultural Relativism Essay Cultural relativism is the way in which our individual beliefs and opinions should be understood by others of the same or of different cultures. The Charlie Hebdo media murders in France January 2015 is a fine example of the way in which the views of the world are diverse depending on different cultural perspectives. Charlie Hebdo is a satirical weekly newspaper, it takes contentious world issues such as religion and politics and holds them up to the world with the intent to disgrace individuals, cooperation s and society in order to get them to improve. Due to its almost antagonistic manner it was a successful target of a terrorist attack . This is because of the characterization, plot and point of view in which both stories are told. First and foremost the movie is more detailed because of characterization. To make this meaningful to the students and then relevant was impressive. Mrs. Anderson asked the core of the lesson plan on the first three days to give the basics. This was relatively easy and the students made it easier by doing their jobs and learning. On day four, Mrs. Anderson walked the students through the process of how a bill becomes a law. She divided the students into the House of Representatives, Congress, and a President. She provided bills that lobbyist wanted to be a law. She guided them through a bill becoming a law and a vetoed bill. The students were 100% actively engaged and enjoying the lesson. She knew the students and how to divide them up and how to both engage them, keep them engaged and still teach a meaningful/relevant lesson. This is the top of the belief list because it is something that is also not limited to just social studies. Attempts were made to include this in practicum but it is something that will take some time. The engagement part may be easy but maintaining the energy takes more than just showing up with an activity but making it meaningful for the

The Women wanted Elizabeth s red hair so badly that they would try dying their hair with harsh chemicals, and if that caused all their hair to fall out, they would just wear red wigs. • 37. Realism In Tony Kushner s Angels In America Angels in America: Millennium Approaches by Tony Kushner can be conventionally defined as a work of Theatricalism. Breaking the preconceived notions of theatre such as gender casting, fluent scenes, and varying extremes ranging from characters, to visuals, to the introduction of historical figures. However, the work strikes a note of realism. We find ourselves encompassed by passionate actors sharing real emotions with us, scenes based in historical events, and characters placed in events that we then find to be our own realities. While we find our realities to be true and heightened by those in the work could it be possible that some of these characters realities are in fact false, or being defined by the theatricality that surrounds them? She has died, a part of Joe has died. What can help to reaffirm her as Joe s moral guide, or compass is that shortly after we see Harper in her cold place Joe commits what we know to be his first sexual act with a man. His values have died. (3.7 p121 Kushner) Within in her cold place Harper further has the ability to create it s bounds and limitations, which is unique and signifies that she is other worldly. While Mr.Lies tells her they are in Antarctica, she constantly defies what he states to be facts, what she says becomes the reality of the place. Something that no other character in the play has yet to do. (3.3 p107

Neoliberalism Research Paper Canada s previous conservative government signed a lucrative deal that would see the country export $15 billion worth of light armored vehicles (LAVs) to Saudi Arabia. It is pertinent to note that Saudi Arabia performs exemplarily poorly when it comes to observing human rights. The deal was struck between the conservative government and Saudi Arabian National Guard, which mainly protects the royal family. However, the government has consistently failed to associate the sale of light armored vehicles with possible escalation of human rights violation in the future. Instead, the government has chosen to emphasize the significant economic gains that come with the huge deal. Canada gains enormously from its relationship with Saudi Arabia. Firstly, Saudi Arabia is one of the key economies in the Middle East. In addition to that, Saudi Arabia is a key trade partner considering the fact that it is Canada s second largest export market in the Middle East (Gauthier, 2011). As a result of this there is a definite commercial interest since it is a possible market for International Trade Canada (ITC). It is worth appreciating the fact that the Canada and its allies perceive the Middle East nation as a gradually stabilizing force. The fact that the light armored vehicles are made in Canada means that they are a key source employment (Chase, 2015). This partly explains why the conservative government is reluctant to halt the transfer of the arms for fear of contributing to

He explains that the exponential growth will continue to accelerate at a fast pace than we can ever think of. Although it will not reach infinity it is still fast enough to make an impact on our world. Though progression will be slow at first it will eventually take off. It will be thousands of year of progress made in a matter of decades. Ray Kurzweil comes up with the law of accelerating returns to explain the exponential growth rate. He talks about a number of things, the first being that progress comes from the work of the evolutionary stage. It is the work at this stage that allow us to continue forward. Secondly, this exponential growth will lead to an increase in returns. This exponential growth will lead to more effort and resources put toward the future progress, leading the exponential growth rate to grow even more. Lastly, Kurzweil believes that the biological and technological fields will go through this evolutionary process that will indeed lead to an exponential growth rate. She is constantly complaining, asking for more or daydreaming of what she could have. The Madame is very discontent with everything in her day to day life and cannot seem to find the good in it. This piece of literature contains vivid images to reveal the character of Madame Mathilide Loisel. The first example he uses is when Mrs. Mathilide is thinking about what her life could be if she had more money. She thought of the silent antechambers hung with Oriental tapestry, lit by tall bronze candelabra s, and one of the great footmen in knee breeches who slept in the big armchairs, made drowsy by the heavy warmth of the hot air stove. , is a sentence where I could literally see the small room leading out to the hallway (68). Precipitation of API from the solution is due to the insolubility of any API in solution. Solubility of API in solution is depends on various parameters like pH, temperature, compatibility with other ingredients, and formulation procedure and saturation solubility of the various components in the vehicle. If the drug and vehicle are incompatible with each other than also the precipitation may occur. 2.Parameters in conflicts with each other using the 39 engineering parameters. Using the 39 engineering parameters, following parameters found to be conflicting with each other in the process of identifying solution for the problem by applying TRIZ methodology. Temperature Vs. Harmful side effect: Solubility of API in solution can be achieved at elevated temperatures than at room temperature or below by heat transfer mechanism that enhances dissolution. But attention has to be paid not to exceed minimally required temperature, because API degradation may cause at elevated temperature that lead to product deterioration. In addition, if volatile solutes or solvents were used, the heat would lead to loss of these agents in atmosphere and reduce product yield. Complexity of device Vs. Energy Consumption: The increase rate of solution and homogeneous mixing in solution can be achieved by modifying the design of the homogenizers, using different impeller type, size and speed

Islam s Anti Western Appeal Daria Farman Farmaian 5/1/16 Islam s Anti Western Appeal and its Role in Establishing an Iranian Republic Like a series of mirrors facing each other, the revolution depended for its success on a series of perceptions of perceptions. With this image, Michael Axworthy, a contemporary historian, aptly argues that the Iranian revolution of 1978 79 was possible because people believed that their grievances against the Shah were widespread, thereby creating a gradual sense of unified opposition. Mohammad Reza Shah, the second Pahlavi monarch who ruled Iran from 1941 1979, lived a lavish and alienating lifestyle, trying to emulate western society. With growing discontent towards the Shah and his westernizing reforms, Iranians turned to the Shia Ulema, the Iranian clergy, and other groups for guidance. Demanding a return to traditional culture, which took the form of religious fundamentalism and a separation from the materialism of the west, the Iranian masses rebelled against the Shah s regime in 1978 79. Because of the Shah s failure to embrace the economic and social reforms proposed by the opposition, the Iranian masses overthrew the Shah and united around the charismatic Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeinito establish an Islamic Republic. With discontent growing towards the Shah and his westernizing reforms throughout the mid 1900s, religion became the voice of the opposition led by the Ayatollah Khomeini. FIGURE 2: THREE PRODUCT FLOW SHOP LAYOUT Above is an example of a product oriented layout, which is in this case a flow shop. While some of the lines contain the same machinery, the flow lines never cross. Flow shops always have the same starting and ending points as well. Types of Flow Shops The no wait flow shop requires that once a job has started it must be processed until completion without any interruption either on or between machines. This implies that the starting time of a job at the first machine has to be delayed to ensure that the job can go through the flow shop without having to wait for any machine. This type of scheduling is necessary were operations are required to follow one after the other due to production constraints, such as the production of steel or plastic molding. Manufacturing environments that use robots and industrial machines can be modeled as a no wait process. Assumptions that are taken in the no wait flow shop include the following: Job operation times are deterministic and known in advance; a job consists of a strictly ordered sequence of operations; the same job sequence is assumed for each job, but machine skipping is allowed (10). Instead if using a series of machines, a group of parallel machines exists in a flow shop environment and work is done in stages. A flow shop is considered flexible when it
