How Does The News We See On Social Media Differ From What...
How does the news we see on social media differ from what we re being presented with on
broadcast? Which is likely to have more of an influence on citizens?
Throughout this essay I have selected to focus on the difference of news we see on social media
websites such as Facebook and Twitter to what we re being presented with on traditional media
platforms such as television and radio and which of the two is more likely to have an influence on
us as citizens who are consuming the news.
I will discuss the role of both platforms mentioned earlier and how they have had an influence on
the public thus far and how they differ on the deliverance of news and which is more credible. I
will also talk about which has the most influence over citizens ... Show more content on

This is all without looking into a news corporations agenda, political stance and reliability.
It s difficult to say whether citizens are more likely to be influenced more by the news they
receive on either social media or on television. A lot of the younger generations are likely to say
social media is more influential, whilst many of the older generations who aren t as, or at all
active on social media would claim broadcast is their most trusted source of information. In his
book News and Journalism in the UK: Fifth Edition, McNair shows that a report commissioned by
Channel 4 in 2008 noted that TV remains the most popular source of news across the British
public as a whole. By then, 54 percent of the 25 34 age group were using online journalism
regularly, and the trend was clear further fragmentation of the journalism market, further migration
of audiences from print and broadcast to online, with young media user moving furthest and
fastest. (McNair, 2009, P.142). In earlier editions of his book, another survey was conducted and
people still listed television as their most trusted source. This correlates with my point earlier,
while television may well be the more trusted source, younger citizens reading the news are likely
to be influenced more by what they re reading online and on social media

Christian Coaching Chapter 1 Summary
This chapter book, Christian coaching: Helping others turn potential into reality by Collins G. A
(2009), talks about life coaching as a Christian. Also, what it takes to be a good coach. According
to Collins (2009), good coaching is helping another in the present so that he or she is self
motivated and equipped to do better in the future (p. 28). Life coachingis coaching an individual on
how to reach their potential in life. Guiding them through life transitions, and to goals that that they
may have. However, in this book, Collins also explain how to coachthem from a Christian
perspective. Showing and guiding these individuals to be effective in life but being effective living
in God s purpose. In this book it gives different tools to

Susan B. Anthony And The Equal Pay Act
Imagine being told that you do not need as much pay as a man because your husband is a
professor and you do not need the money. This was the truth for Maxine Lampe when she
addressed the school district about being paid less. Before her husband was done with graduate
school, she brought the issue up with the school where she worked and was told that she could not
get the head of household pay that menreceived, even though she was the breadwinner. This is not
the only account of this happening. All over the country, women are getting paid less than men and
being told that it s okay. It is not okay.
Gender equality is something that has been a problem through the ages. Susan B. Anthony and
many others fought for the right to vote which was granted in 1920. In 1963, President John F.
Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act into law stating that no employer can discriminate based on
gender. The American Association of University Women published a graph on Women s Median
Annual Earnings as a Percentage of Men s Median Annual Earnings for Full time, Year round
Workers, 1974 2014 and it shows that in 1974, women were paid 59% of what men were paid.
The graph shows the improvements over the years and that in 2014, women were paid 79% of
what men were paid. The gap has not budged since 2014. The gender pay gap has improved over
the years, but it will not close until new legislation passes.
Over time, the gap has changed for the better. The gap has improved for many reasons but many of

Rose For Emily Plot
A Rose for Emily is an interesting story about Emily Grierson s life, separated into parts, explained
by the narrator. There are five parts to this story and each of them has a unique significance to the
story. Throughout the story, a plot is developed and told by the narrator. The development of this
plotdirectly shapes the events that take place. Plots vary from story to story, but the basic meaning
is still there. A plot is defined as a sequence of interrelated events that make up its basic narrative
structure. Mostly, plots have a definite beginning, middle and end. Most of the time, a story has a
chronological plot, and in A Rose for Emily s case it is chronological throughout five parts. The
plots purpose is to tell a story, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Part two ventures into Emily relationship with a man named Homer Barron, a construction
worker who works on the sidewalks. Emily and Barron s relationship is frowned upon because
of their differences in values, social class, and territorial backgrounds, according to the people of
the town. This is the complication aspect of the plot because the conflict is how the townspeople
think the relationship between Emily and Homer is inappropriate due to social differences and
background. It seems Emily and her family are somewhat royal to the people around town, and
rather wealthy. This is why the townspeople are so nosy into Emily s life, because her and her
family are the talk of the town. Part three has Emily s father pass away, and Emily secluding
herself and then getting sick from it. Emily does not have a cold, more like a mental breakdown
because she lost her father. This is the crisis stage of the plot, because Emily s father died, and it
doesn t seem like she has any other family around, so it was a hard hit. Part four has Emily
according to the townspeople, preparing for her wedding. The townspeople find out about a
possibility of a wedding after Emily is found buying a bunch of men s bathroom items, apparently
there is a correlation. After all of this is found out, Homer Barron leaves town and is not around
until he is seen entering Emily s house and not coming back out. This is the falling action stage of

Malignant Neoplasm Essay
What is a Malignant Neoplasm?
A malignant neoplasm is a tumor composed of poorly differentiated cells. Neo means new and
plasm refers to cells. The word neoplasm refers to abnormal overgrowth of cells rather than healthy
new cell growth. It is often used interchangeably with words such as tumor and cancer. It is a
cancerous tumor that grows, proliferates, infiltrates and metastasizes to other parts of the body. It
can spread to surrounding tissues, through lymph nodes or through the bloodstream. It often
requires surgical removal. If it is left untreated, it can result in death.

The tumor becomes larger and may possibly invade surrounding tissues or spread to other parts of
the body via the lymphatic system or the bloodstrem. If a vital organ such as the brain or liver or
multiple organs are extensively damaged by the cancer, then death will occur. The treatments
available for treating malignant cancer include surgery and chemotherapy. However, once metastasis
has occurred, the prognosis is poor and treatment is very complicated.
Some of the main types of cancer are described below:
Leukemia This affects the tissues that make blood, such as the bone marrow. Large numbers of
abnormal cells are produced in the bone marrow, which then spread to the bloodstream
Carcinoma This begins in the skin or tissues that line organs.
Lymphoma Originates in the immune system
Sarcoma This develops in blood vessels, muscle, cartilage, bone or other types of connective tissue
Cancer of the central nervous system Originates in the tissues of the brain and spinal

The Importance Of Revenge In Hamlet
Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder (Act I Scene V, Ghost). The Ghost is a messenger
from Hell that persuades a vulnerable Hamlet into doing evil acts against his family and those that
appear closest to him. In behavior alone, Hamlet s dramatic change in personality shows how the
Ghost has influenced him in an evil way. There are multiple examples throughout this entire play
that displays a dark cloud that follows Hamletaround. Unfortunately, these bad things just continue
to happen to Hamlet and around him. The Ghost poses as a helpful character, in the beginning,
showing Hamlet what really happened, but he actually just wanted to take revenge on the person
who killed him.
The Ghost enters into the story in the figure of Hamlet s recently deceased father to Marcellus
and Bernardo, the two guards in the tower. They immediately report this sighting to Horatio to
witness the sighting of the Ghost. Horatio then is shocked because he sees the Ghost is wearing
armor similar to that of King Hamlet s, who had recently passed away. This makes Prince Hamlet
aware of the sighting as well. Hamlet then consequently goes to see the Ghost and follows him out
past the castle walls. He then proceeds to tell him that his uncle, who had just married Hamlet s
mother, killed his father in his sleep with poison and that he must seek revenge. Right from the
beginning, the Ghost is implementing horrible ideas into Hamlet s mind who is hurt by the passing
of his father. He

Research Paper On Going Postal
Going Postal Everyone knows that one guy at work, who appears to always be angry, and his co
workers are thinking the same thought, one day that guy will end up going postal. Going Postal,
is a common way of referring to a person who is disgruntled and about to go off on the supervisor
or other co workers because he is insane and has lost his mind. The term, going postal, originated in
the early 1990s, after several mass killings in the workplace by disgruntled postal workers. There
is no doubt, anyone that walks into a place of employment and begins shooting people, they have
worked with on a daily basis, is undeniably insane. It didn t take long for people to notice the
common factor in these shootings were disgruntled postal workers,

displaced by this terrible earthquake and ten thousand people were killed (Revels, 2014).
Unfortunately, the corrupted Somoza family was the only one who received any benefit from the

However, instead of going to rebuilding the country, the money was swindled by the Somoza
family. They took the money from the people and then bought up land from people for much less
than it was worth. By 1979, the Somoza family was estimated to be worth $1 billion (Townson,

John Marshall s Effect on the American Judicial System Essays
John Marshall s Effect on the American Judicial System I.Introduction In the early years of the
eighteenth Century, the young United States of America were slowly adapting to the union and the
way the country was governed. And just like the country, the governmental powers were starting to
develop. Since the creation of the Constitution and due to the Connecticut Compromise, there is the
Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial Power. But the existence of those powers was not
always that naturally. In these crucial times, the Judicial Power had problems controlling the other
powers. It was a challenge for the Supreme Court to exercise the powers granted by the new
Constitution. Federal Government was not generally appreciated and... Show more content on

the Medieval time period. She finds evidence from different Medieval works of literatures to help
support her thesis. O Pry Reynolds uses some details from Beowulf, Lancelot, Knight of the Cart,
and Sir Gawain and The Green Knight to show the different genderroles between men and women.
The details O Pry Reynolds finds from the different Medieval literatures in her essay are not

Chaucer writes about the Women from bath who had five husbands. It was very rare for women to
have more than one husband because they didn t believe in divorce.
Men and women from the middle ages had different roles in society that they had to live up to.
The gender rules they had to abide by was very strict. It was considered not normal to step
outside of the bounds of the gender roles assigned to them. (O Pry Reynolds 41). It was not usual
for women to do the roles of a man and vice versa. Just like in The Prologue to The Canterbury
Tales the nun and the monk would never be caught doing each other s job. The women in middle
age were vessels of chastity, purity, and good ness. This meant that the ladies would not go lay in
bed with any and every man they met. They would find the one and be loyal to him till death. The
men during this time would go on quest to show off how strong they were.
The supporting roles in Medieval literature for men and women had been very different. The
men were always the ones looking for a battle to fight if not n their own village then in other
lands. (O Pry Reynolds 38). Men could only be the heroes in Medieval Literature by who he is,
his quest, and his victories (O Pry Reynolds 37). If this was not the case for some men they could
not be heroes. In most Medieval Literature the women had roles that were just for support. They

* Before the redesign project, what factors, processes and behaviors led to the planning problems?
Lack of consensus on forecasts that the departments of sales, marketing, finance and operation all
had their own forecasts and they did not trust each other s numbers.
The lack of formalized process and communication of forecasting was the key reason underlying.
Also, the data most relevant to forecasting was often not accurate or inusable and Leitax had no
built in system to monitor demand planning. Life cycle of certain products was often extended in
order to push sales to resellers.

Leitax should tie its demand planning system to its product group, because it constantly introduces
new products, so that product group needs to help all these parties involved in demand planning to
navigate through the new products on the agenda. This may help different parties to have a better
understanding from an inner perspective in addition to marketing and sales perspective.
Extending products beyond their lifecycle as Leitax did only serves the purpose of making your
numbers look good in the short term. Ultimately, Leitax did more damage extending the cycles than
honoring the lifecycles agreed to in the beginning. Forecasts should be performed with long term
results in mind versus purely short term results.
The decision to introduce more sophisticated forecasting techniques to aid the demand planning
process would not have worked well for Leitax. The introduction of the system Fowler and
McMillan introduced was a significant change for the staff of this company, thus trusting the
system and improving the system for better accuracy would pay off more than confusing things by
adding more sophisticated models. Relying on the most robust model, the statistical model has
proven successful in Leitax s past, but Fowler was concerned the DMS group would seem over
bearing. I think DMS had the ability to utilize statistical modeling while also bringing all
stakeholders together in a manner that was cooperative versus over

The Federal Court allows for the application for judicial review of the removal order and the
decision of the Immigration officer regarding eligibility . If the application reviewing officer has
any concerns regarding the claimant, and determines that the applicant is not eligible for the
refugee status based on one of the four key grounds mentioned above the case is most likely to be
appealed through the court.
During the trial each individual will have the opportunity to clarify any specific information and
give more precise and clear reasons for the purpose of immigration, with no right to further appeal
the final order issued by the Federal Court. In case the appeal goes well, then there is a hearing
before the Trial Division of the Federal Court.
Furthermore, specific groups of the applicants who were determined ineligible by the Citizenship

How Did Galileo Galilei A Renaissance Change Maker
Galileo Galilei was an astronomer, physicists and mathematician who made great discoveries for
science. Today I will be walking you through the life of Galileo and how he was a Renaissance
change maker. Galileo Galilei had a great impact during the Renaissance, in the fields of physics
and astronomy, by applying the methods of hypothesizing, experimenting and his ability to stand
up for what he believed in. Galileo was a child of Vincenzo Galilei, a well educated musician and
scholar who made crucial theories and practice in the music field. In his mid teens, Galileo went to
monastery school, then later went to study medicine at the University of Pisa in 1581. When
studying, Galileo was distracted by his interest in Mathematics, a profession that his father
disagreed with. Soon after, Galileo left university without a degree but started tutoring mathematics
to people. In this period of time, Galileo managed to design a new form of hydrostatic balance....

The Progress of an Aztec Warrior
The image of The Progress of an Aztec Warrior taken from the Codex Mendoza gives us some
idea of the highly ritualized, even religious, character of Aztec warfare (Austin 209). The dress
adopted by Aztec warriors was hardly protective: from the depictions in the Codex Mendoza it
appears that they fought mostly naked. Although protected by a shield, otherwise they were
adorned with feathers, flowers, and animal skins, indicating that the warrior s identity was in some
way dedicated to the totemic animal gods of the Aztec religion. But the ideology of warfare was
practically inculcated in the Aztecs from birth. Inga Clendinnen notes that childbed was
conventionally designated a battlefield, where a woman could take a captive by capturing a baby.
The midwife greeted the birth of a male child with warcries and a formal exhortation, addressed to
the child, but directed, of course, to the panting, newly delivered mother, who was emphatically not
given the baby to hold: My precious son, my youngest one...heed, hearken: thy home is not here, for
thou art an eagle, a jaguar...here is only the place of thy nest...out there thou hast been
consecrated...War is thy desert, thy task. Thou shalt give drink, nourishment, food to the sun, lord
of the earth...perhaps thou wilt receive the gift, perhaps thou wilt merit death by the obsidian
knife...The flowered death by the obsidian knife [that is, death on the killing stone] (Clendinnen

Case Management Ethical Issues Essay
This paper will first discuss briefly what ethics are and provide the definition for an ethical issue.
An ethical leadership issue is identified and explained for this author s practice area. We will then
identify and discuss key strategies for leadership that are pertinent to the ethical issue. Next,
empirical evidence which supports the strategies discussed will be analyzed. Then, the impact and
importance of the strategies will be stated. The final step will be to provide a conclusion to the
reader that summarizes the content and strategies. What is ethics? According to Velasquez et al

According to an article published in Case Management Advisor (2008), education assists case
managers with being as knowledgeable as possible to identify and coordinate all the resources
that their patients need and continued education is an ethical responsibility of a case manager.
The article also suggests that advocacy is an ethical responsibility of a case manager. When
advocacy is forgotten ethical issues occur. Fraser and Strang (2004) explain that case managers
must be given the tools to allow them to function in their role with confidence and competence
to act as strong advocates for their patients. Support for decision making is also a key component
of case management. Coffman (2001) offers key points from The Code of Professional Conduct
for Case Managers advising that case managers are guided by the principle of autonom. Case
mangers achieve autonomy through advocacy. If case managers are expected to function with
complete autonomy, then case managers require the assusrance that their leader ship will support
them when difficult decisions have to be made, (Fraser and Strang, 2004). The concept of
employer employees explains that by involving employees in developing the mission and values
of the company, this allows employees feel empowered (Porter O Grady Malloch, 2007). By

Bandari Dance In Persian Culture
The Persian culture, one of the most prominent cultures in the world, has gone through many
phases throughout the history. Their largest empire in the history of the world, their extraordinary
engineering capabilities, and their inventions in arts and science are some of the most remarkable
qualities that have made what the Persian culture is today. Art of dancehas been a part of this
ancient culture for a long time and it plays a significant role even until this day. There are
countless different Persian dancing styles such as the Baba Karam, Bandari and Choob Bazi.
My research will be focused on specifically Bandari dance. I ll be providing information on the
history of this particular dance style and how it plays a role in the art of dance of the Persian
culture. Bandari dance is a very well known dance in the Persian culture that and has been a part
of it for a long time. Bandari dance is performed alongside Bandari music. The term Bandari in
Farsi means harbor or port, which is why this type of dance and music stem from Southern Iranand
around the Persian Gulf, where this type of dance is also more common. Due to the exposure of
this area to trade with the neighboring countries, this dance has been influenced by the African and
the Arab culture. Because I am personally from the Capital of Iran, Tehran, this type of dance
wasn t as common as other styles of dancing. Bandari was mainly performed at special events such

Dankaran Tuman becomes Manding king; he tries to placate a powerful enemy, Sulu king

Caress of Hot Fire to be one of Sumamuru s wives. Also, Tuman sends Doka the Cat, who had

referred to as wearing pants and coat of human skin (to show his fierceness). Sumamuru asks
Doka the Cat to serve him but is refused, so he cuts the Achilles tendons on the bard and forces
him into service. Then Sumamuru goes to war with Tuman, who loses and flees into exile.
Sumamuru devastates the Manding kingdom ( put gourds in the mouths of all), then sends two

Hindu Goddesses Research Paper
The influence of the Hindu goddesses of feminism in India is a widely argued topic. On one
hand, the the Hindu goddesses act as powerful role models for Hindu women by setting an example
of how the ideal Hindu women must be. If you look at a lot of the reading we have read so far,
most of the Hindu goddesses such as Devi and Parvati were consorts of malegods. These goddesses
inspire women to diligently serve their husbands while still following their respective dharmas.
These goddesses were also shown as beautiful, charismatic and even graceful. There are also many
different festivals such as Navratri where these femaledeities are worshipped either separately or

The Causes Of High Student Debt
The Causes of High Student Debt
Today, in our society there is high expectation for students to go higher education after finishing
high school. Since College tuition is going skyrocket a lot of students are having hard time
paying for their tuitions. Most students, to pay for their college tuition, they have to apply for
loans that put them in dept after they graduate According to recent report by Fay, 72% of the
Class of 2017 graduates owes an average of more than $37,000 for the four years they put in
earning a degree (Fay). These graduates have only six month grace period before the first loan
payment is due and for most of them; this is not the way they expected to start their adult life (Fay).
After graduation this debt can be overwhelming to pay off. It isn t fair, but that s what it s like to be
a student these days. It is very important to know the factors that led to increase student loans. That
helps students and their families to educate themselves and to manage the loans.
The number one cause for students to get into too much debt is the high increase in college
tuition cost every year. According to Best, College costs are climbing faster than the cost of
living, with more than half of college students carrying an average debt of $27,000 at graduation
(Best I II). Students tend to be overburdened with debt when they graduate. Some go on to pursue
advanced degrees; on the way, they end up with more debt because the career these students are
hoping for is

Similarities Between Video 5 And Video 7 Essay
There are many similarities and differences within the health care system, specifically when it
comes to Electronic Health Records (EHR) and its privacy. According to the Centers for
Medicare Medicaid Services, an Electronic Health Record is an electronic version of a patient s
medical history, that is maintained by the provider over time, and may include all of the key
administrative clinical data relevant to that person s care under a particular provider, including
demographics, progress notes, problems, medications, vital signs, past medical history,
immunizations, laboratory data and radiology reports (CMS, 2016). In this paper, we will be
comparing and contrasting some of the main similarities and differences found between Video 5
and Video 7. Some of the similarities that will be discussed are the definition of privacyin regards to
Electronic Health Records, methods that would enable more effective privacy for EHRs, the CSA
s 10 privacy principles of PIPEDA, and the responsibility of the health professionals in maintaining
the privacy of personal information.
The two videos that were chosen discuss electronic health records in regards to privacy. There are
some similarities with the content that was presented amongst the two videos. First of all,
according to Abrams Gibson (2013), privacy is the right an individual has over their personal
information in terms of sharing it, who has access and also enables the individual to control what

Shellfish Poisoning Research Paper
Introduction
Amnesic shellfish poisoning is a rare type of food poisoning caused by eating seafood that
contains a poison (toxin) called domoic acid. Domoic acid is produced by a saltwater form of
algae, and it is often eaten by shellfish, such as clams, oysters, and mussels. You can get sick when
you eat shellfish or crab that contains domoic acid (is contaminated). Cooking or freezing the
shellfish does not kill the toxin.
Domoic acid causes stomach and intestinal problems. It can also cause problems with the brain and
spinal cord (nervous system). In severe cases, these problems can be life threatening.
What are the causes?
This condition is caused by eating seafood that has had contact with domoic acid.

Mental Rotation of Images
Abstract The idea of mental imagery has always been a controversial subject in the field of
psychology. Many psychologists have argued that such a concept is impossible to measure
because it can not be directly observed. Though they are right about this, it is not impossible to
measure how quickly mental rotations of images are processed in our brains. Subjects in this
experiment were presented two shapes simultaneously, via computer screen, and asked to make
judgement, as quickly as possible, as to whether the two shapes presented were the same or mirror
images. Two different shapes were used in this experiment, each given as often as the other. During
each trial one shape remained stationary and the other was rotated with varying... Show more

Overall, when comparing the reaction times of pictures to letters, picture reaction times are said to
be generally greater. In conducting this experiment 20 right handed subjects were used, 10 male and
10 female. Subjects participated in this study either to earn course credit, or for payment of ten
dollars per hour. Three things were concluded from this experiment. First, picture rotations took
longer to perform than letter rotations. Second, there were no sex differences in reaction times for
either stimulus presented, and third, there was a linear increase in reaction times as angular
disparity of both stimuli sets increased (Desrocher, smith Taylor, 1995). As predicted this study did
replicate some previous findings. However, based on the data from this experiment sex differences
did not yield a significant difference in reaction times when presented with the different stimuli.
Concurrent with our data, both of the previously mentioned experiments concluded the same thing;
reaction times increased as angular disparity increased. Although the objectives in each experiment
were somewhat different, there has been a sufficient amount of evidence to support the hypothesis,
that reaction times will increase as the angular disparity of objects increase. Method Participants

Drug Trafficking Epidemic Analysis
There have been many attempts in combatting the drug trafficking epidemic.
While there have been several attempts to overcome the problem, none were completely effective
because drug trafficking is still a major epidemic today. Earlier attempts include, but are not limited
to, weakening cartels and other organizations that play a role in drug trafficking, involving more
authority, and countries working to overcome the epidemic together. Although these solutions were
not successful alone, there is a possibility that the solutions could work if attempted together. By
focusing on the decriminalization, communication from each country, drug demand, determination,
and consistency the drug trafficking epidemic can be combatted.

no one thought to try.
The key part in the whole solution would be to combat the problem that lies within the problem,
the drug demand. People with drug addictions fuel the drug trade. In the article Crafting US Policy
On Drug Trafficking, the author states that drug policies should be driven by the lessons of the
neuroscience rather than political science. By this change in lessons, the health of an individual
would be put before the crime and consequence. Therefore there illness, or addiction, would be
treated instead of just being thrown in a jail or prison. As said in Ethan Nadelmann s TED talk,
healthcare should be put before criminalization. Drug addiction is the driving force behind drug
trafficking and demand. There are innovations taking pace at the federal and state level, including
drug treatment courts, which recognize that many offenders require medical help dealing with
Goforth 3 addiction rather than time in jail (Rosenbaum 48). If the individuals with illnesses

Dress Code Controversy
Dress Code Controversy
The dress code in public schooling has been a controversial issue in both Greenbrier, Arkansas and
nationwide. School dress code violations have been occurring frequently in public schools. About
60% of schools around the country, enforce a strict dress code. To reduce trouble, schools should
not enforce strict dress codes.
Dress codes treat students unfairly, mainly targeting females. Many students across the nation
particularly girls are agreeing with school dress codes being too strict and giving unfair treatment
to females. A student from Kentucky was sent home for showing her collarbone, a student from

Some schools are for uniforms. Uniforms eliminate individuality. The first amendment of the U.S
Constitution guarantees that all individuals have the right to express themselves freely. According
to the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada, allowing students to choose their clothing is
sending a powerful message that students are maturing and they are relying on self determination.
Educators suggest that dress codes teach students what is acceptable in the workforce. However,
some employees care less about how their employees dress and more about their work ethic.
Students should learn to dress appropriately based on context, dress codes do not express that.
Instead, dress codes teach students that conformity and obedience to authority is more important.
Dress codes have created hot debates around the world. In my opinion, dress codes should be
enforced but they should not unfairly target females and they should allow students to express
themselves without violating extreme dress code

  • 3. How Does The News We See On Social Media Differ From What... How does the news we see on social media differ from what we re being presented with on broadcast? Which is likely to have more of an influence on citizens? Throughout this essay I have selected to focus on the difference of news we see on social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter to what we re being presented with on traditional media platforms such as television and radio and which of the two is more likely to have an influence on us as citizens who are consuming the news. I will discuss the role of both platforms mentioned earlier and how they have had an influence on the public thus far and how they differ on the deliverance of news and which is more credible. I will also talk about which has the most influence over citizens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is all without looking into a news corporations agenda, political stance and reliability. It s difficult to say whether citizens are more likely to be influenced more by the news they receive on either social media or on television. A lot of the younger generations are likely to say social media is more influential, whilst many of the older generations who aren t as, or at all active on social media would claim broadcast is their most trusted source of information. In his book News and Journalism in the UK: Fifth Edition, McNair shows that a report commissioned by Channel 4 in 2008 noted that TV remains the most popular source of news across the British public as a whole. By then, 54 percent of the 25 34 age group were using online journalism regularly, and the trend was clear further fragmentation of the journalism market, further migration of audiences from print and broadcast to online, with young media user moving furthest and fastest. (McNair, 2009, P.142). In earlier editions of his book, another survey was conducted and people still listed television as their most trusted source. This correlates with my point earlier, while television may well be the more trusted source, younger citizens reading the news are likely to be influenced more by what they re reading online and on social media ... • 5. Susan B. Anthony And The Equal Pay Act Imagine being told that you do not need as much pay as a man because your husband is a professor and you do not need the money. This was the truth for Maxine Lampe when she addressed the school district about being paid less. Before her husband was done with graduate school, she brought the issue up with the school where she worked and was told that she could not get the head of household pay that menreceived, even though she was the breadwinner. This is not the only account of this happening. All over the country, women are getting paid less than men and being told that it s okay. It is not okay. Gender equality is something that has been a problem through the ages. Susan B. Anthony and many others fought for the right to vote which was granted in 1920. In 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act into law stating that no employer can discriminate based on gender. The American Association of University Women published a graph on Women s Median Annual Earnings as a Percentage of Men s Median Annual Earnings for Full time, Year round Workers, 1974 2014 and it shows that in 1974, women were paid 59% of what men were paid. The graph shows the improvements over the years and that in 2014, women were paid 79% of what men were paid. The gap has not budged since 2014. The gender pay gap has improved over the years, but it will not close until new legislation passes. Over time, the gap has changed for the better. The gap has improved for many reasons but many of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The development of this plotdirectly shapes the events that take place. Plots vary from story to story, but the basic meaning is still there. A plot is defined as a sequence of interrelated events that make up its basic narrative structure. Mostly, plots have a definite beginning, middle and end. Most of the time, a story has a chronological plot, and in A Rose for Emily s case it is chronological throughout five parts. The plots purpose is to tell a story, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Part two ventures into Emily relationship with a man named Homer Barron, a construction worker who works on the sidewalks. Emily and Barron s relationship is frowned upon because of their differences in values, social class, and territorial backgrounds, according to the people of the town. This is the complication aspect of the plot because the conflict is how the townspeople think the relationship between Emily and Homer is inappropriate due to social differences and background. It seems Emily and her family are somewhat royal to the people around town, and rather wealthy. This is why the townspeople are so nosy into Emily s life, because her and her family are the talk of the town. Part three has Emily s father pass away, and Emily secluding herself and then getting sick from it. Emily does not have a cold, more like a mental breakdown because she lost her father. This is the crisis stage of the plot, because Emily s father died, and it doesn t seem like she has any other family around, so it was a hard hit. Part four has Emily according to the townspeople, preparing for her wedding. The townspeople find out about a possibility of a wedding after Emily is found buying a bunch of men s bathroom items, apparently there is a correlation. After all of this is found out, Homer Barron leaves town and is not around until he is seen entering Emily s house and not coming back out. This is the falling action stage of the ... Chaucer writes about the Women from bath who had five husbands. It was very rare for women to have more than one husband because they didn t believe in divorce. Men and women from the middle ages had different roles in society that they had to live up to. The gender rules they had to abide by was very strict. It was considered not normal to step outside of the bounds of the gender roles assigned to them. (O Pry Reynolds 41). It was not usual for women to do the roles of a man and vice versa. Just like in The Prologue to The Canterbury Tales the nun and the monk would never be caught doing each other s job. The women in middle age were vessels of chastity, purity, and good ness. This meant that the ladies would not go lay in bed with any and every man they met. They would find the one and be loyal to him till death. The men during this time would go on quest to show off how strong they were. The supporting roles in Medieval literature for men and women had been very different. The Progress of an Aztec Warrior The image of The Progress of an Aztec Warrior taken from the Codex Mendoza gives us some idea of the highly ritualized, even religious, character of Aztec warfare (Austin 209). The dress adopted by Aztec warriors was hardly protective: from the depictions in the Codex Mendoza it appears that they fought mostly naked. Although protected by a shield, otherwise they were adorned with feathers, flowers, and animal skins, indicating that the warrior s identity was in some way dedicated to the totemic animal gods of the Aztec religion. But the ideology of warfare was practically inculcated in the Aztecs from birth. Inga Clendinnen notes that childbed was conventionally designated a battlefield, where a woman could take a captive by capturing a baby. The midwife greeted the birth of a male child with warcries and a formal exhortation, addressed to the child, but directed, of course, to the panting, newly delivered mother, who was emphatically not given the baby to hold: My precious son, my youngest one...heed, hearken: thy home is not here, for thou art an eagle, a jaguar...here is only the place of thy nest...out there thou hast been consecrated...War is thy desert, thy task. Can implementation of the modified study cycle to chemistry lab coursework improve students conceptual knowledge and motivate them to self directed learning? Background Different goal settings between an instructor and students: Cognitive approaches such as peer lead, inquiry based, and context and problem based laboratory have been implemented to improve the efficacy of chemistry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3 Students were more likely to describe psychomotor goals such as completing the experiment ahead of the scheduled time and also affective goals such as feeling bad or good based on the finishing time. As a cognitive goal, faculties expect that students gain understanding while working through lab, but student s emphasis is more on understanding the material rather than deeper understanding of chemical concepts. Because student s psychomotor goal is the most priority goal among cognitive one, pursuits of conceptual understanding are usually delayed. Surprisingly, in Town s video interview to those students, goals of chemistry faculty such as a deeper understanding of the nature of science, learning experimental design, improvement of writing skills, engaging in the work of scientists and the investigation of phenomena were not ... • 30. The Causes Of High Student Debt The Causes of High Student Debt Today, in our society there is high expectation for students to go higher education after finishing high school. Since College tuition is going skyrocket a lot of students are having hard time paying for their tuitions. Most students, to pay for their college tuition, they have to apply for loans that put them in dept after they graduate According to recent report by Fay, 72% of the Class of 2017 graduates owes an average of more than $37,000 for the four years they put in earning a degree (Fay). These graduates have only six month grace period before the first loan payment is due and for most of them; this is not the way they expected to start their adult life (Fay). After graduation this debt can be overwhelming to pay off. It isn t fair, but that s what it s like to be a student these days. It is very important to know the factors that led to increase student loans. That helps students and their families to educate themselves and to manage the loans. The number one cause for students to get into too much debt is the high increase in college tuition cost every year. According to Best, College costs are climbing faster than the cost of living, with more than half of college students carrying an average debt of $27,000 at graduation (Best I II). Students tend to be overburdened with debt when they graduate. Some go on to pursue advanced degrees; on the way, they end up with more debt because the career these students are hoping for is ... • 32. Similarities Between Video 5 And Video 7 Essay There are many similarities and differences within the health care system, specifically when it comes to Electronic Health Records (EHR) and its privacy. According to the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services, an Electronic Health Record is an electronic version of a patient s medical history, that is maintained by the provider over time, and may include all of the key administrative clinical data relevant to that person s care under a particular provider, including demographics, progress notes, problems, medications, vital signs, past medical history, immunizations, laboratory data and radiology reports (CMS, 2016). In this paper, we will be comparing and contrasting some of the main similarities and differences found between Video 5 and Video 7. Some of the similarities that will be discussed are the definition of privacyin regards to Electronic Health Records, methods that would enable more effective privacy for EHRs, the CSA s 10 privacy principles of PIPEDA, and the responsibility of the health professionals in maintaining the privacy of personal information. The two videos that were chosen discuss electronic health records in regards to privacy. There are some similarities with the content that was presented amongst the two videos. First of all, according to Abrams Gibson (2013), privacy is the right an individual has over their personal information in terms of sharing it, who has access and also enables the individual to control what ... • 35. Mental Rotation of Images Abstract The idea of mental imagery has always been a controversial subject in the field of psychology. Many psychologists have argued that such a concept is impossible to measure because it can not be directly observed. Though they are right about this, it is not impossible to measure how quickly mental rotations of images are processed in our brains. Subjects in this experiment were presented two shapes simultaneously, via computer screen, and asked to make judgement, as quickly as possible, as to whether the two shapes presented were the same or mirror images. Two different shapes were used in this experiment, each given as often as the other. During each trial one shape remained stationary and the other was rotated with varying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, when comparing the reaction times of pictures to letters, picture reaction times are said to be generally greater. In conducting this experiment 20 right handed subjects were used, 10 male and 10 female. Subjects participated in this study either to earn course credit, or for payment of ten dollars per hour. Three things were concluded from this experiment. First, picture rotations took longer to perform than letter rotations. Second, there were no sex differences in reaction times for either stimulus presented, and third, there was a linear increase in reaction times as angular disparity of both stimuli sets increased (Desrocher, smith Taylor, 1995). As predicted this study did replicate some previous findings. However, based on the data from this experiment sex differences did not yield a significant difference in reaction times when presented with the different stimuli. Concurrent with our data, both of the previously mentioned experiments concluded the same thing; reaction times increased as angular disparity increased. Although the objectives in each experiment were somewhat different, there has been a sufficient amount of evidence to support the hypothesis, that reaction times will increase as the angular disparity of objects increase. Method Participants Ten St. Johns University undergraduate students participated in this experiment to fulfill their Research Method ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Drug Trafficking Epidemic Analysis There have been many attempts in combatting the drug trafficking epidemic. While there have been several attempts to overcome the problem, none were completely effective because drug trafficking is still a major epidemic today. Earlier attempts include, but are not limited to, weakening cartels and other organizations that play a role in drug trafficking, involving more authority, and countries working to overcome the epidemic together. Although these solutions were not successful alone, there is a possibility that the solutions could work if attempted together. By focusing on the decriminalization, communication from each country, drug demand, determination, and consistency the drug trafficking epidemic can be combatted. The decriminalization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By working with and through organizations from multiple countries, ideas will come to surface that no one thought to try. The key part in the whole solution would be to combat the problem that lies within the problem, the drug demand. People with drug addictions fuel the drug trade. In the article Crafting US Policy On Drug Trafficking, the author states that drug policies should be driven by the lessons of the neuroscience rather than political science. By this change in lessons, the health of an individual would be put before the crime and consequence. Therefore there illness, or addiction, would be treated instead of just being thrown in a jail or prison. As said in Ethan Nadelmann s TED talk, healthcare should be put before criminalization. Drug addiction is the driving force behind drug trafficking and demand. There are innovations taking pace at the federal and state level, including drug treatment courts, which recognize that many offenders require medical help dealing with Goforth 3 addiction rather than time in jail (Rosenbaum 48). According to the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada, allowing students to choose their clothing is sending a powerful message that students are maturing and they are relying on self determination. Educators suggest that dress codes teach students what is acceptable in the workforce. However, some employees care less about how their employees dress and more about their work ethic. Students should learn to dress appropriately based on context, dress codes do not express that. Instead, dress codes teach students that conformity and obedience to authority is more important. Dress codes have created hot debates around the world.
