Ap German Personal Narrative
In 8th grade, instead of baking cookies or cake in cooking class or drawing pictures in art, I took
German 1 to put myself in the position to be placed in AP German my senior year. My freshman and
sophomore years of high school I took Photography to work towards taking AP 2D Studio Art along
with other AP/accelerated sciences, maths, and english classes. Certainly, there are other students that
took just as difficult of courses that I did, but I pushed myself to excel in other courses that others may
not have taken.
Throughout my high school career, I have always hustled myself to take these high course level
classes. As a freshman I took Honors and Accelerated classes, and by my senior year I was in all AP
classes, except for P.E. When I tell

The Effects Of Enhanced Personal Responsibility And Choice
Introduction This experimental study was carried out to examine the effects of enhanced personal
responsibility and choice on a group of residents who were living in a decision free nursing home
environment. The experiment consisted of two groups; the experimental group that was given
effective communication with emphasis on their personal responsibility and choice, while the
communication given to the second or comparison group stressed the responsibilities of the
institutional staff toward them. Furthermore, the experimental group was granted the self
determination (freedom) to make choices and the responsibility of caring for a plant of their own
choosing, instead of having decisions made and the plant been cared for them by the institutional staff,
as was the case for the comparison group. Also, the ratings of two different questionnaires and the
measures of certain aspects of behavior such as alertness, happiness, activity participations, and a
general sense of well being were tested for statistical significance (Langer and Rodin, 1976, p.191).
(1) (A). Describe the Key Methods of the Study Context of the Study The study was conducted in a
state acclaimed, clean and cheerful nursing home environment in Connecticut, USA. Two of the four
floors were selected with two groups in the study. The resident participants were similar in physical,
mental, psychological health and social status. Residents in one (randomly selected) floor or group

Huguenot Wars
The French Wars of Religion, or Huguenot Wars of the 16th century, are names for a period of civil
infighting, military operations and religious war primarily fought between Roman Catholics and
Huguenots(Reformed Protestantism, a.k.a. Calvinist Protestants) in the Kingdom of France. a French
Protestant of the 16th 17th centuries. Largely Calvinist, the Huguenots suffered severe persecution at
the hands of the Catholic majority, and many thousands emigrated from France. Unlike all other
religious wars at the time, the French wars retained their religious character without being confounded
by dynastic considerations. The conflict involved disputes between the aristocratic houses of France,
mainly the Reformed House of Condé (a branch of the House

Why Is The 4th Amendment Important
The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution was first introduced in 1789 by James
Maddison, and was a part of the Bill of Rights which includes the first ten amendments. The Fourth
Amendment was created and ultimately it was created to protect two things the right to privacy and
the freedom against unlawful invasions. The exact wording of the Fourth Amendment is The right of
the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and
seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by
Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the person or things to be
seized. ( Fourth Amendment ). Now after reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my paper to follow I intend to better educate and provide examples and different situations dealing
with the Fourth Amendment in criminal procedures. A case that took place back in 2001 in Florida is a
good example of use of the Fourth Amendment in a court case. On a night in July in Florida Anthony
Frierson was in his vehicle waiting to turn at a left turn. When the light turned green Frierson made his
turn without using his signal and was pulled over by Officer Steven Miller. An important fact to note
is that it not illegal to make a turn without your signal in Florida. After Officer Miller pulled Frierson
over he obtained Frierson s driver s license, and ran his license through a routine warrant check. Upon
doing so he came to find out that Frierson had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest, and proceeded
to arrest Frierson on the basis of the warrant. Whenever a police officer arrests someone on a traffic
stop they conduct a search incident to arrest, once he proceeded to search Frierson s vehicle he found
an illegal firearm in his car and Frierson was later charged for that also. An issue arose that took the
case all the way to the Florida Supreme Court. Since Officer Miller conducted an illegal stop Frierson
s defense team wanted the

Infertility And The Fertility Related Issues
For couples unable to conceive naturally who decide that adoption is not an option for them at this
time or alternatively for their particular situation, the first step in the process to treat infertility is
attempting to diagnosis the source of the infertility. In order to do this, both partners undergo a series
of preliminary diagnostic tests and procedures to determine if either the male or female have any of
the fertility related issues. Infertility by definition is not being able to conceive after one year of trying
with unprotected sex. Trying to conceive not only affects the women but also the man can have some
type of issues that can affect the couple ability to become pregnant. Infertility has become a growing
issues for couples. According to CDC About 6% of married women 15 44 years of age in the United
States are unable to get pregnant after one year of unprotected sex (infertility). Also, about 12% of
women 15 44 years of age in the United States have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying a
pregnancy to term, regardless of marital status called impaired fecundity.
In order for a couple to become pregnant she must release an egg from one of her ovaries and a male
sperm must join the egg. After the two meet the fertilized egg must travel through a fallopian tube and
attach itself to a women uterus. When this process does not happen the infertility doctor will begin to
proceed with a semen analysis on the male

Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory Study
Another theory that is relevant to the study is Albert Bandura s (1977) Social Learning Theory. Unlike
the experiential learning theory which is more focused on how the environment affects the behavior of
the individual, the social learning theory is based on the idea that we learn from our interactions with
others in a social context. Moreover, by observing the behaviors of others, people tend to copy and
develop similar behaviors. New concepts of social learning are being formulated as new trends in
distance education programs continue to emerge. The rise in popularity of these programs continues to
increase the physical distance between educators and students (Smith Berge, 2009). There are three
key components to Bandura s social learning theory (Abbott, n.d.) that are manifesting themselves in
the Second Life (a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After observing the behavior of others, people then assimilate and imitate that behavior, especially if
their observational experiences are positive ones or include rewards related to the observed behavior.
According to Bandura (Smith Berge, 2009), this kind of imitation involves the actual reproduction of
observed motor activities. This kind of learning through observing can also be reinforced. Bandura
called this as vicarious reinforcement. What he meant is that when the child observes someone else
being rewarded for a particular behavior this then affects the child in the same way as it would had
that the child produced the same behavior and been rewarded for it. Similarly, vicarious punishment is
possible where the child observes a model being punished for a behavior thus the child is less likely to
produce the behavior because of this observation. This kind of reinforcement creates a chain of
thought for the The presence of such reinforcement stimulate the reward centers of our brain that
triggers and motivates us into actually impersonate the

Compare And Contrast Willim Burton And Take Charlie And...
As the years go on the movie industry are starting to look back on the movies that we all know in love
and try to recreate them to get that feeling of enjoyment once more. What s hard about recreating a
movie from the original from is that it could alway be a bit dodgy. Take Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory for example. Tim Burton directed the 2005 film and took the warm hearted and wholesome
film filled with awe and wonder and turned it into a something like that and more. Knowing Tim
Burton s work, his style is a bit unique; some would say weird. But that s what people like about his
movies; they love that they re weird and different than anything else that they ve ever seen. Even I
love that about his work. Watching the original film titled Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and
looking back to what the movie represented to all of us as children ,I feel that both movies have their
own qualities that make them individually good . As a child, everyone would have dreamed of going
to a chocolate factory just like Willy Wonka s. Children want be amazed by what the factory has in
store for them and and downright just have a good time. Both films represent that feel to that the main
character, Charlie Bucket, exceeded his expectations to what he envisioned the factory contained
inside. And yes, they both had the same theme and setting. However, Tim Burton did create more
development for the characters in the newer version, but to me I felt that it wasn t necessary. The

Guyana Research Paper
Guyana, South America
Guyana is a sovereign state located on the North East corner of South America. Guyana, which is
bordered by the Atlantic ocean, Brazil, Suriname and Venezuela; is the fourth smallest country in
South America and the only english speaking region of South America. Due to its strong cultural and
historical ties with the caribbean community, Guyana is considered a member of the west indies.
Guyana s main economic assets have always been their rainforest, sugarcane plantations, rice fields,
bauxite and gold; however the country remains to be one of the poorest countries in South America.
As of 2015 Guyana was ranked 127 on the Human Development Index (HDI) with 35% of the
population below the poverty line.
When Guyana gained independence in 1966, the country was economically dependent on agriculture
and mining, specifically sugarcane, bauxite and gold. During the 1970s, all mining and agriculture
were own and controlled by the government. Government control was only reduced in the 1990s when
a privatization program was introduced. By the early 21st century, the government secured foreign

The Seagull And Chekhov And Children
The Seagull and Chekhov and Children Anton Chekhov s work The Seagull and Chekhov for Children
were both inspired by the complexity of human emotion. One explored emotion in adults the other
explored it in children to show was there a difference in the way adults and children felt and expressed
emotion.
In a time where the depth of human emotion hadn t been explored too deeply or talked about in
Russian literature, the way Chekhov s The Seagull play explore human emotion and the failures that
haunts these characters was a first for the time. Same goes for Philip Lopate s and his bold choice to
push 5th graders father than what was expected of them, with acting out one of Chekhov s other dark
and humorous play Uncle Vanya. Both pieces are unique stand alone works off art, one thing both
pieces of work had in common was the ability to see beyond what was normal and push through what
society wanted to create unique pieces of work. A key part of Chekhov for children is Chekhov, with
out Chekhov play Uncle Vanya there would be no source of inspiration for director Phillp Lopate to
grab a hold to and push his 5th graders beyond what was expected of them at that age. Philip Lopate
was trying to achieve something daring and innovative so why wouldn t he use work that was said to
be the same at one point in time. Lopate s Chekhov for children thought out side the box and gave his
5th grade students extremely hard task that most said would be impossible to pull off. From that

Gangsta-Funk History
In the late 1960s, a genre of music by the name of Funk arose from a mixture of Jazz, Soul, Rhythm
and Blues. Funk provided thousands of nightclubbers with funky chords and electric rhythms to dance
to. Over the span of its popularity, Funk evolved and developed various subgenres, such as Funk rock,
Boogie, Electro funk, Funk metal and the notorious, Gangsta Funk. Gangsta Funk or G Funk for short,
is a subgenre of Hip Hop invented in the early 90s on the mean streets of Los Angeles, California. The
central pioneers of G Funk can be argued, but to keep it short, Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg
deserve more than half of the credit for helping to develop this fable style of music. A product of the
streets of Long Beach, California, Snoop Dogg was taken under Dr.Dre s wing and with his guidance

The catchy melody for Gin Juice is actually supplied from a sample of a song called Watching You
from the band Slave. And, some sample notes used in Gin Juice are barrowed by the song I Get Lifted
by Soul singer George McCrae. With Dr. Dre flawlessy producing two different samples together, we
get two catchy melodies to form one catchy piece of G Funk. The rhythm of the song sits smoothly
with the melody and paves the way for the beat for Snoop Dogg to flow his relaxed lyrics to. The song
Gin Juice is formed into three different sections, including three different rap verses with the chorus
repeating itself after each verse. The chorus of the song is very soulful and even has some minor
female vocals crammed in there. The sound of the song is altered with a rhythmic groove, bass and
synthesizers that give it the funk that gangsta touch. Snoop Dogg is probably high as a kite when he is
rapping to the beat as the timbre in his voice sounds extremely mellow, but, provides the quality that
the song needs to give it that G Funk essential of complete smooth hypnotic

Abraham Lincoln And The Fourteenth Amendment
This political cartoon characterizes Abraham Lincoln as having a difficulty balancing the slavery issue
with the other needs of his party. One person is a slave representing freedom and holding the end of
one side, the slaveholder is representing slavery holding the other side, and Abraham Lincoln is in
between both slavery and freedom. This political cartoon is saying that if you vote for the democrats
than you are a white man. There was slavery then if you vote for the republicans than you would be
compared to a negro. The 13th Amendment The 13th Amendment says that Neither slavery nor
involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly
convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Formally
abolishing slavery in the United States, the 13th Amendment was passed by the Congress on January
31, 1865, and ratified by the states on December 6, 1865. This amendment was unique and different
from the other amendments which are the 14th and 15th. The 13th amendment abolished slavery, but
the 14th was unique also because it overturned the Dred Scott decision, and it counted all citizens,
including slaves, as citizens in the US. The 15th amendment gave African Americans the right to vote.
The 14th Amendment The 14th Amendment expanded the protection of civil rights to all Americans
and is cited in more litigation than any other amendment. This amendment forbids states from denying

Does Watching TV Make Us Smarter
In his essay, Does Watching TV Make Us Stupid? Nigel Barber argues that the effect of TV on a child
s intelligence has to do with their social class, meaning that children in lower social classes who watch
TV often come to be more intelligent than their counterparts who don t watch TV and vice versa.
Barber then goes onto write that children in more well to do countries become smarter because they
have more access to mass media, which stimulates their brain. So, to answer his title s question,
Barber does not think that TV makes us stupid. There are many opinions on this topic. Steven Johnson
shares his opinion in his essay, Watching TV Makes You Smarter . In his essay Johnson argues that TV
does make us smarter for many reasons. The first being that society is becoming more demanding in
the amount and complexity of the content received from TV shows, which Johnson calls the Sleeper
Curve. With this rise of complexity comes three elements: multiple threads, flashing arrows, and
social networks. All of which Johnson goes into detail about how they have improved TV over time,
making the public smarter. Although there are many similarities between the two authors there are
many more differences. The clearest differences between Barber s Does Watching TV Make Us
Stupid? and Johnson s Watching TV Makes You Smarter are the titles, generalizations they make, and
most importantly what and why they think TV makes us smarter. The first difference in Barber s and
Johnson s

writers and historians, who recount the known facts of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln

the story from the beginning starting with murderer John Wilkes Booth, a young energetic, happy kid

David Herold, Lewis Powell, Samuel Arnold and Mike O Laughlen. They had nothing in common

Since the consumer is indifferent among all points on an indifference curve, when moving along it any
increase in satisfaction from gaining one good must be matched by an equal decrease in satisfaction
from a loss in the other good. An indifference curve is bowed toward the origin because the more of
good x that is consumed the less you are willing to give up of good y to get more of good x and
remain indifferent. 3. What do we call the magnitude of the slope of an indifference curve? The
magnitude of the slope of an indifference curve is called the marginal rate of substitution (MRS). The
MRS measures the rate at which the consumer gives up one good to get more of another good, while
remaining on the same indifference curve (keeping the consumer indifferent about the changes). The
ratio of the quantity of one good needed to replace the quantity of the other good and remain
indifferent is the slope of the indifference curve. The bowed in shape of the indifference curve is due
to the assumption of diminishing MRS. 4. What is the key assumption about a consumer s marginal
rate of substitution? The key assumption about the marginal rate of substitution is that it is diminishing
as a consumer moves down an indifference curve, creating the bowed in shape. Page 214 1. When a

Causes And Effects Of Climate Change
Climate Change
Climate change is an ever growing danger to us and the planet and the effects of it will be
catastrophic. Climate change will make the global temperatures rise which will melt the polar ice caps
putting many species at risk for extinction, it will also cause much stronger hurricanes and tornados
and other weather related problems, and the scary part is; there currently is no real marketable solution
to climate change that would not lower our living standards to what we had before the industrial
revolution. Scientists are convinced that if climate change is not stopped or at least weakened by the
year 2050, there will be no more polar ice in the north and south poles and there may be no snow in
the winter; which I find very concerning because this of course has drastic effects. I am afraid that
arctic animals like the polar bear, reindeer, arctic fox, seal, narwhal and many more will become
extinct and our great grandchildren won t be able to experience them like we were able to. Scientists
also say that the sea levels will most likely rise 4ft by the year 2100 and I know that does not sound
too bad, but trust me it is because may coastal cities and small villages located near the current sea
level will because uninhabitable for us and other land animals. This would negatively affect 100 s of
thousands of people and a lot of precious and rare ecosystems will be unfortunately destroyed.
I feel like another bad thing about climate change is the fact that the weather will change in negative
ways like making hurricanes and tornados much stronger and harder to combat which puts millions
upon millions of people s lives at risk.and will cost countries billions of dollars to repair the damages
caused by these stronger storms and if that is not enough, floods will also become a lot more common
do the rising sea levels and the increase in storms which can be deadly. I believe one of the worst
effects on the weather due to climate change is that fact that it will create more droughts due to the
high increases to the global temperatures and these droughts will have severe effects on the people
living in that area because typically when a drought is taking place, growing food is next to impossible

Christian Philosophy of Education Essay
Christian Philosophy of Education As we go through our day by day lives in a very secular world, I
believe it is very easy to question ourselves as Christian educators. We ask ourselves if we are doing
our jobs exactly to God s calling. Are we striving to teach the truth? And with that, what is truth?
According to Gaebelein in his book The Pattern of God s Truth, All truth is God s truth. As educators
we are called upon to cultivate Christlike minds (Moreland). This is quite the task, especially given
our surrounding circumstances and constant secular environment. Not only are we, as educators
surrounded by this secularism, but our young, adolescent students are as well. So, how do we
accomplish such as task of guiding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Christian educators, we are called to promote and support learning in those areas. True teaching is
a sharing of realities, likening the teaching process and weaving connections between their teachings
and understandings themselves and the world around them. If we do not make connections for the
students to the world around them, many times these precious gifts graced upon them will be
overlooked or passed by because the young minds may not be able to recognize them. Some areas of
observation might be seen as open doors to see or perceive and understand something of God and His
motion as reflected through the created world and the Bible. Other areas might be seen as open doors
to respond, apply, express and practice in ways that are consistent with biblical values. When these
areas are discovered and embraced, many times they can address the major developmental needs in
the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional realms of the student s life. Identifying these
areas is helping the students begin their walk with the Lord and their own calling. The teaching
learning environment should be receptive to the nature of human nature as it was originally created in
the image of God. This means it should acknowledge students as creatures of God (again, not simply
as subjects in a room) by engaging and stimulating the full

My Philosophy of Classroom Management Essay
A. Theoretical Introduction My philosophy of classroom management is that the management of
elementary classrooms require several things. Among patience, determination and motivation are:
flexibility, careful planning and consistency. A well managed classroom did not get well managed
without a teacher who planned, had a flexible vision and was determined. Any new teacher, who is
asked, will say they want a classroom with as few behavioral problems as possible as well as one that
is easily manageable. But any experienced teacher, who is asked, will tell those new teachers that
classrooms do not come well managed . They have to be made into well managed classrooms. These
experienced teachers would also encourage by saying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would include everything from the way desks should be arranged and the order subjects are
taught, to the type of activities given to enhance a lesson. Planning of these things will help classroom
management run much more smoothly. Finally, classroom management requires consistency,
particularly with discipline. Inconsistent teachers who discipline only half of the time it is needed,
send mixed messages to that child as well as to his/her classmates. Teachers need to remember that
following through with what they said helps the child remember that their undesirable behavior will
not be tolerated and that there are consequences for their actions. Consistency is a skill that teachers
should make sure they have when they step into a classroom. Flexibility, careful planning and
consistency are key components, I think, that teachers would find helpful when dealing with
classroom management.
I feel children need guidance and support from the world around them. That is why they have parents,

Rhetorical Analysis of Ellen DeGeneres s Commencement...
Ellen s Commencement Speech Rhetorical Analysis Graduation caps fly into the air, cheers erupt, and
diplomas are received. This is a typical graduation day. Not only did these ceremonial events take
place for Tulane University s class of 2009, but Ellen DeGeneres was there to congratulate them as
well! This class was dubbed the Katrina Class for being survivors of the devastating Hurricane Katrina
in 2005. Katrina was named one of the deadliest Hurricanes, causing more than 1,836 deaths. Tulane
University is located in New Orleans, Louisiana, where the most significant amount of deaths took
place and 80 percent of the city was destroyed. These graduates have survived a lot , and Ellen wants

Most graduates have a lot of stress and worry about their futures, the uncertainty of where they are
going or what they will become. Ellen is relatable when she tells the graduates how she didn t know
who shes was, considering that, she was still dating men. Another use of a rhetorical question But why
am I here today? to introduce an anecdote about her growing up in New Orleans. This question takes
the audience s attention back to her, because, consequently, they know that Ellen will explain why she
is there; giving them a reason to listen to her words. Once again, Ellen asks What else can happen to
you? in order to commend the graduates of having success after the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. She
uses the hyperbole and rhetorical question, So what I m saying is, when you re older, a lot of you will
be gay. Anyone writing this stuff down? Parents? this keeps everybody s attention and loops the
parents into relating the commencement speech to them as well. Rhetorical questions help Ellen by
giving the crowd small moments to reflect and invites them into her speech, connecting to them and
allowing them to smile during serious content.
Furthermore, the use of hyperbole and metaphors are effective in this commencement speech. Ellen
uses a hyperbole when she rationalizes her anxiety about the success of her sitcom after the public
realize that she is gay. Ellen worried about this because in recent times, the

Refugees Of The Un Refugee Agency
Refugees. There are a large number of them, but what does that mean? Well, according to US Citizen
and Immigration Services, refugees are, people who have been persecuted or fear they will be
persecuted on account of race, religion, nationality, and/or membership in a particular social group or
political opinion. (USCIS, 2015) In other words, they are pushed out of their country for fear of their
lives. This then creates the issue of where they end up. According to the UN Refugee Agency, there
are about 21.3 million known refugees worldwide. Of that 21.3 million, are 4.9 million that come from
Syria. Also, the UNHCR notes that the top three hosting countries are Turkey, Pakistan, and Lebanon
(which as of 2015, had 183 refugees for every 1,000 residents). (UNHCR, 2016) However, the US,
which has a huge expanse, is not on the list. According to the Washington Post, the US has met its
goal of granting asylum to 10,000 Syrians in the past fiscal year, but that is still not a large number
compared to other countries. Such as Canada, which with a population barely a tenth the size of the
United States , has resettled three times more Syrian refugees since last fall. (The Washington Post,
2016). This issue of what to do with refugees is looked at in the three articles that will be discussed in
this paper.

The American Dream and College Essay
The American Dream and College
My junior year of high school was filled with high emotions, stressful moments, and tension about
where to apply to college and where I would be accepted and ultimately attend. At a Making the Most
out of your Sixth Semester forum that year, the entire junior class experienced lectures from the
school s college resource counselors about how to prepare for this arduous battle of college
admissions. The way Sue Biermert, who is the College Admissions Counselor at my high school,

Though, the majority of students who go through this inevitable admissions procedure typically do not
meet the Wizard of Oz after traveling the yellow brick road in hopes of being granted their first choice
for higher education.
Sue Biermert explained to our junior class that night that life is about taking risks and facing problem
after problem. It was obviously not getting any easier by applying to colleges. However, this is what
we all had to do in order to feel like our parents in thirty years, because our culture has forced us to be
part of the system of going to some sort of university. She admitted that many of us would feel
rejected, literally and emotionally, in a year from our top choice. Though, one never knows until you
take that leap of faith as she quoted a popular Michael Jordan poster in our Chicago suburban high
school that reads: I miss 100% of all the shots I don t take. Biermert reiterated to us that we were there
that night to be part of the process, therefore we must be willing to tackle the admissions problem
head on and do the best we can.
The admissions process is analyzed by determining what ideal students are, as a more concrete answer
may be deduced about how this admissions game works and how to solve this equation. A profitable
university to try and examine is The George Washington University in Washington D.C., as this is the
university that I am currently attending.

Digital Art Essay
Digital art is a general term for a range of works by the artists who use digital technologies as a major
part of the processes of creation and representation (Paul, 2006). Specifically, digital technology refers
to the application of computers as media and partners for the artists in creating art works. However,
digital industry is often a vague term and does not clearly define the final form of the art work. In his
book called Art of The Digital Age, Wands (2006) has classified digital art works based on their final

second, and s0 is the initial height or 4 feet. Thus we have: h(t)= 16t^2+30t+4 as a model for the
height.
Note that we disregard complicating factors such as air resistance, spin, because the uncertainty and
unpredictability of these factors leads to a much more complicated equation than needed.
(a) Will the flyer reach 20 feet?
Let h(t)=20 and solve:
20= 16t^2+30t+4
16t^2+30t 16=0
Using the quadratic formula, x=( b±√(b^2 4ac))/2a , we can solve for t: x=( 30±√(〖30〗^2 4( 16)(
16)))/(2( 16)) The discriminant, x= b±√(b^2 4ac) , is 124 so there are no real solutions. The flyer will
never reach 20 feet with the given initial velocity.

to hide. Alfred Hitchcock presents the characters Brandon and Phillip in a way that supports that they
are in a homosexual relationship. If you pay close attention through the whole film you discover that
Brandon and Phillip are more than just friends. The film also hints that Brandon has an underlying

murder to impress Rupert, and achieve his affection. This is presented in a number of ways throughout
the whole film. Brandon has always had some sort of attraction towards Rupert. Kenneth said,
Brandon would spend sit up till all hours at the master s feet . This describes where Brandon s
obsession with Rupert began. The attraction to Rupert can also be seen during Rupert s conversation
with Mrs. Atwater. During it Rupert explains that murder should be an art. Soon after, the camera
begins to pan away from Rupert and Mrs. Atwater. You then see Brandon listening in on the
conversation, he begins to slightly lick his lips and then joins in on the conversation with full
excitement and passion. This shows the basis of Brandon s idea. To plan a murder, make it a piece of
art, and slightly leave enough clues so that Rupert can figure it out. Brandon isn t killing because it s

U.S. Foreign Policy Essay
Throughout the course of history, the United States has remained consistent with its national interest
by taking many different actions in foreign policy. There have been both immediate and long term
results of these actions. Foreign policy is the United States policy that defines how we deal with other
countries economically and politically. It is made by congress, the president, and the people. Some of
the motivations for United States foreign policy are national security, economics, and idealism. The
United States entry into World War I in 1917 and the escalation of the Vietnam War in 1964 and the

Another major foreign policy action was the entry to World War I. On August 4, 1914 there was an
outbreak in Europe. A war started between the central powers and the allied powers. The central
powers consisted of Germany, Austria Hungry, and the Ottoman Empire. They were also known as the
Triple Alliance. The Allied Powers, also know as the Triple Entente consisted of Britain, France, and
Russia. An immediate cause of the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914.
Some long term causes that started the war were militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism.
America tried to keep themselves isolated from the war in Europe. Before the war, America had an
idea of neutrality. Neutrality is when American lives and property is not threatened. There was great
ethnic diversity in the United States which led to a public union about war. The United States also had
the idea of freedom of the seas. This meant the routes for trading were open. The United States had the

Having the opportunity to share wonderful books with children is the single most important reason I

father. He instilled in me a love for books of all kinds, especially picture books, which I found to be

Not only are the illustrations magnificent, but the repeating phrases demand that children repeat them
in the character s voices, making the story hilarious and irresistible! What makes it even better is that a
child is the hero in the end. Our love and enthusiasm for a book can be contagious and make the
experience more special for children. Exposing children to poems, songs, and rhymes is yet another
good way to share literature with them. Best practice suggests that displaying the words prominently
in the classroom allows children to follow along as they are sung or read. (CLAS, 1996) Although
they may not be able to actually read every word, a pointer can be used to help them follow along.
Inviting them to read, sing, create new verses, and even dance enhances the experience. When
children are involved in the process of reading in a variety of ways, it broadens their knowledge,
strengthens their skills, and builds their confidence. As educators, caregivers, and parents, we can have
a tremendous impact on children s early literacy experiences. Knowing several strategies for sharing
literature with them gives us valuable tools with which we can help them tackle the work of reading.
As a result, we have the power to transform it into an enjoyable experience children can enjoy
throughout their lives. Sharing Literature References:

The speech perception study conducted by Johnstrude and his colleagues in 2013 was an in depth
investigation of selective attention, focusing on the interrelation of hearing and familiarity. The
purpose of the experiment was to examine the variations of people s attending and shadowing ability
when letting them listen to two simultaneous voices, manipulating the volumes and the timbres.
Johnstrude set three conditions: familiar target voice and novel masker voice, novel target and familiar
masker, and novel baseline (both voices are novel). Johnstrude found that participants excelled at the
first condition, while the other two were inferior at the beginning but tend to increase and converge.

the task will be higher than the familiar masker condition because it will take less effort to attend to a
familiar target voice than a novel target voice. Besides, older participants will score lower than
younger participants due to the weakening of perceptual abilities and more wrong voice errors (failure
to distinguish the two call signs). For old people in the experiment, familiarities of both the spouse s

Hermann Hesse s Siddharth The Natural Motion Of A River
Emely Gonzalez
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
AP Literature Pd.3
Topic 3
The natural motion of a river can vary. For the majority of its existence, a river s effortless flow can be
tranquilizing; but it could also evoke destruction with its rushing dynamics. This double edge concept
is the simple layout of life, for we encounter high points, as well as low points. The river also holds
two principles: creation and destruction. The symbolic nature of the current enables Siddhartha, the
protagonist in the novel entitled Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, to use the river as a guide to
reconstruct himself. Within many episodes of his life, Siddhartha encounters the river and consumes
the teachings of it. In the process of finding himself, Siddhartha lost a part of his individuality.
However, he was able to regain his loss through the river s guidance; it was his savior. Siddhartha
desired to join the Samanas, with his best friend, Govinda to pursue enlightenment. When he told his
father, a Brahmin, his plan to do so, he rejected his request. Siddhartha was defiant, and stood still
with his arms crossed for several hours until his request was granted. Challenging his father s words
shows how he was accustomed to having everything in his favor. Once his knees grew weak,
Siddhartha s father gave in, allowing him to go into the forest and become a Samana. Upon joining the

The Physiological Phenomena During Sex
This paper will explore the physiological phenomena during sex and if it holds to be proven about all
creatures. Sigmund Freud invented Psychoanalysis, which is the theory and therapy of treating people
who suffer from nervous disorders by researching the unconscious mind that makes us repress or push
our urges and desires. From Psychoanalysis, stems Psychosexual development, which believe that
from birth humans experience sxual energy going through five stages in their life. This theory could
have inspired the two researchers between the late 1950s and early 1960s, William H. Masters and his
partner, Virginia E. Johnson. Masters and Johnson deeply investigated the physiological changes a

Despite of all the data Masters and Johnson collected, Shere Hite was one their criticizer, who strongly
believe there was some faults in the information they wrote about females and orgasms. The following
questions will answer the confusion about sexuality:
What is Psychosexuality and how does it impact Masters and Johnson s work? Does animals prove the
Human Sexual Response cycle?
Does Hite highlight the flaws in the Human Sexual Response?
Therefore, Masters and Johnson s human sexual cycle is accurate because it efficiently sorts the
physiological changes for all creatures.
Psychosexuality
Animals and the human sexual response. In the empirical article, What Can Animal Models Tell Us
About Human Sexual Response? eas done by James G Pfaus, Tod E. Kippin, Genaro Coria Avila

The Human Sexual Response is a four stage model that has to do with physiological responses of
sexual stimulation. The question the focuses on was what can animal models tell us about human
sexual response and the hypothesis they focus on to examine how it causes desire and how sexual
stimulation. Neuroendocrinologist study animals, while Clinicians focus on humans and in this type of
field, rarely worked together. However, it makes sense that they work together in this topic because

The Pursuit Of Happiness
The Pursuit of Happiness A true basis of what it means to be an American can be thoroughly argued
on the grounds of what constitutes an American, is an American born or is an American made. The
collective identity of the American populace is the shared characteristics, the same drive, which
ultimately results in oneness. The unique American cultural identity is the shared revolutionary nature,
which drives Americans toward progressive social changes in the pursuit of personal happiness. The
original thirteen colonies faced a rather odd situation in their nascent years. Far enough away from
Britain to not completely live under their control, the colonies began to form a new way of defining
themselves. Rather than simply being British colonies they wanted to act as a sovereign nation in their
own right. Fearful of the colonies gaining too much power the British government implemented a set
of Acts, such as the Intolerable Act and Tea Stamp Act, with the intention of them limiting the colonies
freedom and smothering any chance of rebellion. However, the colonist took this as an act of
oppression instead and rose above it in order to regain their personal freedoms. They felt that their
society had plateaued into mediocrity under the rule of King George as they didn t have protected
rights (The American Pageant, 126 133). In the hopes of ridding the colonies of the British rule war
broke out, the crude colonist soldiers fighting against the well polished British army,

Reality Television Program
When people turn on their televisions at home or they are watching television somewhere else, they
will possibly find a reality show somewhere. Reality television shows have been on television for
numerous years and are changing. Although reality television is wildly entertaining and popular, many
young teens and adults look up to their favorite reality show actors and their lavish lifestyles and
overdramatic antics. People who watch reality television regularly have different expectations and
views on how the world actually works and feel differently about themselves. People follow their
favorite reality show stars and it makes them want to change and leaving the rest of us wondering
what reality actually is. Reality television isn t real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reality television only shows what viewers want to see and is dishonest and distorts the truth about
reality. After years celebrity Kate Gosselin has been attacked for everything she did and does. People
magazine says When the show melted down along with the Gosselin marriage after Jon was caught
partying with other women, the twins 10 years old at the time were old enough to grasp that their
world had been shattered (Coyne 58). This statement shows that reality television brings fighting and
divorce to families in reality television. Reality television shows unreal situations and make people
start to fight and change. A study found that people who watched reality television of the surveillance
docu drama variety (as opposed to competition shows) were more likely to believe that relationship
drama is normal and to overestimate the amount of bad behavior such as gossiping that women engage
in (O mara 2).When reality television shows problems, those problems start to happen in our society
because people see it on television and want to be like reality stars.
Reality television gives off social behaviors to the world. It gives a bad influence to children who use
actors as their role models. Reality star actors will do anything for popularity, publicity, and fame.
Reality television makes children think they don t have to study hard or train

  • 4. The Effects Of Enhanced Personal Responsibility And Choice Introduction This experimental study was carried out to examine the effects of enhanced personal responsibility and choice on a group of residents who were living in a decision free nursing home environment. The experiment consisted of two groups; the experimental group that was given effective communication with emphasis on their personal responsibility and choice, while the communication given to the second or comparison group stressed the responsibilities of the institutional staff toward them. Furthermore, the experimental group was granted the self determination (freedom) to make choices and the responsibility of caring for a plant of their own choosing, instead of having decisions made and the plant been cared for them by the institutional staff, as was the case for the comparison group. Also, the ratings of two different questionnaires and the measures of certain aspects of behavior such as alertness, happiness, activity participations, and a general sense of well being were tested for statistical significance (Langer and Rodin, 1976, p.191). Why Is The 4th Amendment Important The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution was first introduced in 1789 by James Maddison, and was a part of the Bill of Rights which includes the first ten amendments. The Fourth Amendment was created and ultimately it was created to protect two things the right to privacy and the freedom against unlawful invasions. The exact wording of the Fourth Amendment is The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the person or things to be seized. A case that took place back in 2001 in Florida is a good example of use of the Fourth Amendment in a court case. On a night in July in Florida Anthony Frierson was in his vehicle waiting to turn at a left turn. When the light turned green Frierson made his turn without using his signal and was pulled over by Officer Steven Miller. An important fact to note is that it not illegal to make a turn without your signal in Florida. After Officer Miller pulled Frierson over he obtained Frierson s driver s license, and ran his license through a routine warrant check. Upon doing so he came to find out that Frierson had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest, and proceeded to arrest Frierson on the basis of the warrant. Whenever a police officer arrests someone on a traffic stop they conduct a search incident to arrest, once he proceeded to search Frierson s vehicle he found an illegal firearm in his car and Frierson was later charged for that also. An issue arose that took the case all the way to the Florida Supreme Court. Since Officer Miller conducted an illegal stop Frierson s defense team wanted the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory Study Another theory that is relevant to the study is Albert Bandura s (1977) Social Learning Theory. Unlike the experiential learning theory which is more focused on how the environment affects the behavior of the individual, the social learning theory is based on the idea that we learn from our interactions with others in a social context. Moreover, by observing the behaviors of others, people tend to copy and develop similar behaviors. New concepts of social learning are being formulated as new trends in distance education programs continue to emerge. The rise in popularity of these programs continues to increase the physical distance between educators and students (Smith Berge, 2009). There are three key components to Bandura s social learning theory (Abbott, n.d.) that are manifesting themselves in the Second Life (a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After observing the behavior of others, people then assimilate and imitate that behavior, especially if their observational experiences are positive ones or include rewards related to the observed behavior. According to Bandura (Smith Berge, 2009), this kind of imitation involves the actual reproduction of observed motor activities. This kind of learning through observing can also be reinforced. Bandura called this as vicarious reinforcement. What he meant is that when the child observes someone else being rewarded for a particular behavior this then affects the child in the same way as it would had that the child produced the same behavior and been rewarded for it. Similarly, vicarious punishment is possible where the child observes a model being punished for a behavior thus the child is less likely to produce the behavior because of this observation. As the years go on the movie industry are starting to look back on the movies that we all know in love and try to recreate them to get that feeling of enjoyment once more. What s hard about recreating a movie from the original from is that it could alway be a bit dodgy. Take Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for example. Tim Burton directed the 2005 film and took the warm hearted and wholesome film filled with awe and wonder and turned it into a something like that and more. Knowing Tim Burton s work, his style is a bit unique; some would say weird. But that s what people like about his movies; they love that they re weird and different than anything else that they ve ever seen. Even I love that about his work. Watching the original film titled Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and looking back to what the movie represented to all of us as children ,I feel that both movies have their own qualities that make them individually good . As a child, everyone would have dreamed of going to a chocolate factory just like Willy Wonka s. Children want be amazed by what the factory has in store for them and and downright just have a good time. Both films represent that feel to that the main character, Charlie Bucket, exceeded his expectations to what he envisioned the factory contained inside. And yes, they both had the same theme and setting. However, Tim Burton did create more development for the characters in the newer version, but to me I felt that it wasn t necessary. The ... In a time where the depth of human emotion hadn t been explored too deeply or talked about in Russian literature, the way Chekhov s The Seagull play explore human emotion and the failures that haunts these characters was a first for the time. One person is a slave representing freedom and holding the end of one side, the slaveholder is representing slavery holding the other side, and Abraham Lincoln is in between both slavery and freedom. This political cartoon is saying that if you vote for the democrats than you are a white man. There was slavery then if you vote for the republicans than you would be compared to a negro. The 13th Amendment The 13th Amendment says that Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. • 15. Does Watching TV Make Us Smarter In his essay, Does Watching TV Make Us Stupid? Nigel Barber argues that the effect of TV on a child s intelligence has to do with their social class, meaning that children in lower social classes who watch TV often come to be more intelligent than their counterparts who don t watch TV and vice versa. Barber then goes onto write that children in more well to do countries become smarter because they have more access to mass media, which stimulates their brain. So, to answer his title s question, Barber does not think that TV makes us stupid. There are many opinions on this topic. Steven Johnson shares his opinion in his essay, Watching TV Makes You Smarter . In his essay Johnson argues that TV does make us smarter for many reasons. The first being that society is becoming more demanding in the amount and complexity of the content received from TV shows, which Johnson calls the Sleeper Curve. With this rise of complexity comes three elements: multiple threads, flashing arrows, and social networks. All of which Johnson goes into detail about how they have improved TV over time, making the public smarter. Although there are many similarities between the two authors there are many more differences. The clearest differences between Barber s Does Watching TV Make Us Stupid? and Johnson s Watching TV Makes You Smarter are the titles, generalizations they make, and most importantly what and why they think TV makes us smarter. What do we call the magnitude of the slope of an indifference curve? The magnitude of the slope of an indifference curve is called the marginal rate of substitution (MRS). The MRS measures the rate at which the consumer gives up one good to get more of another good, while remaining on the same indifference curve (keeping the consumer indifferent about the changes). The ratio of the quantity of one good needed to replace the quantity of the other good and remain indifferent is the slope of the indifference curve. • 19. Causes And Effects Of Climate Change Climate Change Climate change is an ever growing danger to us and the planet and the effects of it will be catastrophic. Climate change will make the global temperatures rise which will melt the polar ice caps putting many species at risk for extinction, it will also cause much stronger hurricanes and tornados and other weather related problems, and the scary part is; there currently is no real marketable solution to climate change that would not lower our living standards to what we had before the industrial revolution. Scientists are convinced that if climate change is not stopped or at least weakened by the year 2050, there will be no more polar ice in the north and south poles and there may be no snow in the winter; which I find very concerning because this of course has drastic effects. I am afraid that arctic animals like the polar bear, reindeer, arctic fox, seal, narwhal and many more will become extinct and our great grandchildren won t be able to experience them like we were able to. Scientists also say that the sea levels will most likely rise 4ft by the year 2100 and I know that does not sound too bad, but trust me it is because may coastal cities and small villages located near the current sea level will because uninhabitable for us and other land animals. This would negatively affect 100 s of thousands of people and a lot of precious and rare ecosystems will be unfortunately destroyed. I feel like another bad thing about climate change is the fact that the weather will change in negative ways like making hurricanes and tornados much stronger and harder to combat which puts millions upon millions of people s lives at risk.and will cost countries billions of dollars to repair the damages caused by these stronger storms and if that is not enough, floods will also become a lot more common do the rising sea levels and the increase in storms which can be deadly. I believe one of the worst effects on the weather due to climate change is that fact that it will create more droughts due to the high increases to the global temperatures and these droughts will have severe effects on the people living in that area because typically when a drought is taking place, growing food is next to impossible which ... We ask ourselves if we are doing our jobs exactly to God s calling. Are we striving to teach the truth? And with that, what is truth? According to Gaebelein in his book The Pattern of God s Truth, All truth is God s truth. As educators we are called upon to cultivate Christlike minds (Moreland). True teaching is a sharing of realities, likening the teaching process and weaving connections between their teachings and understandings themselves and the world around them. If we do not make connections for the students to the world around them, many times these precious gifts graced upon them will be overlooked or passed by because the young minds may not be able to recognize them. Some areas of observation might be seen as open doors to see or perceive and understand something of God and His motion as reflected through the created world and the Bible. Other areas might be seen as open doors to respond, apply, express and practice in ways that are consistent with biblical values. When these areas are discovered and embraced, many times they can address the major developmental needs in the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional realms of the student s life. Identifying these areas is helping the students begin their walk with the Lord and their own calling. Any new teacher, who is asked, will say they want a classroom with as few behavioral problems as possible as well as one that is easily manageable. But any experienced teacher, who is asked, will tell those new teachers that classrooms do not come well managed . They have to be made into well managed classrooms. This would include everything from the way desks should be arranged and the order subjects are taught, to the type of activities given to enhance a lesson. Planning of these things will help classroom management run much more smoothly. Finally, classroom management requires consistency, particularly with discipline. Inconsistent teachers who discipline only half of the time it is needed, send mixed messages to that child as well as to his/her classmates. Teachers need to remember that following through with what they said helps the child remember that their undesirable behavior will not be tolerated and that there are consequences for their actions. Consistency is a skill that teachers should make sure they have when they step into a classroom. Flexibility, careful planning and consistency are key components, I think, that teachers would find helpful when dealing with classroom management. I feel children need guidance and support from the world around them. That is why they have parents, family and teachers. I believe, like Barbara Coloroso and others, that children are worth all the work teachers put into their job. Children are not only worth it, but they deserve our very best. Ellen is relatable when she tells the graduates how she didn t know who shes was, considering that, she was still dating men. Another use of a rhetorical question But why am I here today? to introduce an anecdote about her growing up in New Orleans. This question takes the audience s attention back to her, because, consequently, they know that Ellen will explain why she is there; giving them a reason to listen to her words. • 23. Refugees Of The Un Refugee Agency Refugees. There are a large number of them, but what does that mean? Well, according to US Citizen and Immigration Services, refugees are, people who have been persecuted or fear they will be persecuted on account of race, religion, nationality, and/or membership in a particular social group or political opinion. (USCIS, 2015) In other words, they are pushed out of their country for fear of their lives. This then creates the issue of where they end up. According to the UN Refugee Agency, there are about 21.3 million known refugees worldwide. Of that 21.3 million, are 4.9 million that come from Syria. Also, the UNHCR notes that the top three hosting countries are Turkey, Pakistan, and Lebanon (which as of 2015, had 183 refugees for every 1,000 residents). (UNHCR, 2016) However, the US, which has a huge expanse, is not on the list. According to the Washington Post, the US has met its goal of granting asylum to 10,000 Syrians in the past fiscal year, but that is still not a large number compared to other countries. Such as Canada, which with a population barely a tenth the size of the United States , has resettled three times more Syrian refugees since last fall. (The Washington Post, 2016). This issue of what to do with refugees is looked at in the three articles that will be discussed in this paper. Exposing children to poems, songs, and rhymes is yet another good way to share literature with them. Best practice suggests that displaying the words prominently in the classroom allows children to follow along as they are sung or read. (CLAS, 1996) Although they may not be able to actually read every word, a pointer can be used to help them follow along. Inviting them to read, sing, create new verses, and even dance enhances the experience. When children are involved in the process of reading in a variety of ways, it broadens their knowledge, strengthens their skills, and builds their confidence. As educators, caregivers, and parents, we can have a tremendous impact on children s early literacy experiences. Within many episodes of his life, Siddhartha encounters the river and consumes the teachings of it. In the process of finding himself, Siddhartha lost a part of his individuality. However, he was able to regain his loss through the river s guidance; it was his savior. Siddhartha desired to join the Samanas, with his best friend, Govinda to pursue enlightenment. Challenging his father s words shows how he was accustomed to having everything in his favor. Once his knees grew weak, Siddhartha s father gave in, allowing him to go into the forest and become a Samana. Upon joining the wanderers , Siddhartha and Govinda abandoned the Samana life because it required one to lose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pursuit Of Happiness The Pursuit of Happiness A true basis of what it means to be an American can be thoroughly argued on the grounds of what constitutes an American, is an American born or is an American made. The collective identity of the American populace is the shared characteristics, the same drive, which ultimately results in oneness. The unique American cultural identity is the shared revolutionary nature, which drives Americans toward progressive social changes in the pursuit of personal happiness. The original thirteen colonies faced a rather odd situation in their nascent years. Far enough away from Britain to not completely live under their control, the colonies began to form a new way of defining themselves. Rather than simply being British colonies they wanted to act as a sovereign nation in their own right. Fearful of the colonies gaining too much power the British government implemented a set of Acts, such as the Intolerable Act and Tea Stamp Act, with the intention of them limiting the colonies freedom and smothering any chance of rebellion. However, the colonist took this as an act of oppression instead and rose above it in order to regain their personal freedoms. They felt that their society had plateaued into mediocrity under the rule of King George as they didn t have protected rights (The American Pageant, 126 133).
