The Relevence of Free Will
Genetics play a huge part in who we are. But we also have free will. Aidan Quinn Basically this
quote is saying how we are raised in the home determines a big factory of how discipline we are
however we still must take into consideration that we are still held accountable for our action
regardless. Although how we were raised in the home play a major role with the choices we make
in our entire lives as an individual. I do believe that morals have a strong factor in free willand
determinism. Homes that teach morals and values in life have a strong factor in with their social
behavior skill.
Free Will is relevant within the criminal justice sector because I do believe the vast majority do
have control of what they which is why they should be held accountable for their actions as well.
However, determinism does have a strong relevance within the criminal justice system as well. The
reason for my bias answer is because those who have clinically proven diagnoses of psychological
mental disorder should be taken into consideration when committing crime. When one research the
word free will the word is define as the ability to choose how to act (Free Will, n.d.). Then when
researching the word determinism is defined as a theory or doctrine that acts of the will,
occurrences in nature, or social or psychological phenomena are causally determined by preceding
events or natural laws. Clearly the both are incompatible but they can work with each other in the
criminal justice ethics

British Values
In June 2014, the secretary of state for education, confirmed that schools would be required to
promote British values from September 2014. According to the guidance from the Department
for Education, the fundamental British values which schools should promote are: Democracy
The rule of law Individual liberty Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths
and beliefs and for those without faith Every school in England must promote British values in
their SMSC development, which is particularly important to Ofsted. The SMSC Quality Mark
for Primary and Secondary Schools aims to help schools recognise and review the development
of SMSC, which includes British values. SMSC stands for spiritual, moral, social and cultural
development. Every school in England must show how well the students at that school develop in
SMSC. There are a number of definitions surrounding spiritual, moral, social and cultural
development and can be outlined as follows. Social development explores beliefs and experience
and reflects upon these. It explores feelings and values, and promotes learning about yourself as
well as others and the world around us. It promotes using your imagination and creativity in
learning and the ability to reflect upon this as well as respecting different faiths. Moral
development encompasses the ability to recognise right and wrong and apply this to their own lives
and within the boundaries of the legal system thereby respecting the law and

The Actions of Judge Danforth in The Crucible Essay
In any community, the people rely on the power of law and justice to protect them. When the
guardians of the law and order misuse their power it brings tragedy upon the town. In Arthur Miller
s The Crucible the inappropriate actions of the character of Judge Danforth, the voice of authority
of the community leads to the tragedy of social disruption of the town accompanied by breakdown
in communal solidarity. Firstly, throughout the play Judge Danforth acts with pride and arrogance.
At the commencement of act III Judge Danforth voices his view on the ongoing phase of the
witchcraft trials by stating that Do you take it upon yourself to determine what this court shall
believe and what it shall set aside? (Miller 85). Here Danforth... Show more content on

His reply is accompanied with a vindictive nature towards anyone who opposes the actions of the
court or by extension, him. Therefore, his arrogance and pride restrains him from listening to
others point of view. Lastly, despite hearing about the mass opposition and rebellion at the
Andover witchcraft trials, Judge Danforth refuses to postpone the hangings and orders Reverend
Parris that Now hear me, and beguile yourselves no more... Postponement now speaks a
floundering on my part. (Miller 129). Danforth arrogantly waves off the request of postponement
made by Hale and Parris. He thinks that the act of postponement of the hangings will raise the
issue of his credibility as a judge. Danforth s pride of his status as a judge denies him from giving
it a thought that his actions can lead to the death of innocent lives. When pride and arrogance
interferes with ones wisdom the repercussions are often destructive. Judge Danforth proves this
through the medium of his actions which lead to the destruction of trustworthiness in the
community and brought tragedy to Salem. Secondly, Judge Danforth s irrationality and ignorance
brings about poor decisions on his part. One of the instances where Danforth reveals his
following attitude is when he denies to even look at a deposition presented by John Proctor as
described by his words No, no, I accept no depositions (Miller 88). John Proctor hands him a
deposition signed by Mary warren, stating that

Essay on Abuse in Government Care
Abuse in Government Care
It is unfortunate that in our society some children grow up without the opportunity of having a
loving family to raise them. More unimaginable is children growing up with parents or family
members that are abusive. Children raised in abusive environments that are reported to social
services and removed from their home are placed into foster care. Foster care is defined supervised
care for delinquent or neglected children usually in an institution or substitute home set up by the
government. Some advocates claim that the government child care system is adequate, but others
like David Van Biema of Time Magazine state that, foster care is intended to protect children from
neglect and abuse at the hands of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These children need a lot of attention and care so that they may live as normal a life as possible
and learn to overcome the obstacles their lives will be presented with, goals such as these are hard
to obtain with five to eight children in a home. With such large numbers it is not surprising that
there is a median of 10.3 percent of children who reentered the foster care system within 12 months
of discharge in the year 2000 (Dept of Health).
The effect of our present foster care system is disastrous. Children are forced to move from one
foster home to another, suffering abuse and neglect that cause the children to develop harsh
psychological damage, severe behavioral problems, and suicidal thoughts, as shown in the story of
on foster boy named Terry:
Terry s story is in many respects typical of the plight of America s 500,000 foster children. He
entered foster care at the age of one after he was found with his five siblings suffering from
frostbite in an unheated home, his mother in a drug induced sleep. When he was five, he and two
of his siblings were adopted by a foster family. To hear adoption proponents of today tell it, this
should have provided the happy ending to Terry and his sibling s travails. Unfortunately, this was
only the beginning of a long journey through the labyrinth of the child welfare system. Terry and
his siblings had to be removed from their new home due to extreme abuse and neglect after the

Cultural Experience Reflection Paper
Cultural Experience Reflection: Spain, Healing Dirt, and Amores Perros When learning a new
language, educating, experiencing, and learning about the culture behind the language is
paramount. It is not simple enough to learn the vocabulary and grammar of Spanish. As a Spanish
1010 student, my learning experience has been enriched through participating in cultural events.
Furthermore, I gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the language and native
speakers. Over the last semester, I participated in the following three cultural experiences: traveling
to Spain, attending the Healing Dirt event, and watching the movie Amores Perros. Fortunately for
me, these three events covered a variety of issue areas (e.g., religious traditions, language
dynamics, and machismo); additionally, each event was based in different Spanish speaking
countries. Over the past summer, I traveled to Spain and was able experienced the culture and
traditions of the Hispanic people for two weeks. I was struck by how language and cultural
heritage played a major role in shaping the experiences of Hispanic people. The role of language
plays a huge role in shaping the experiences and lives of the people living in Barcelona. In the city
of Barcelona, Catalan and Spanish are the languages spoken. Furthermore, the government only
provides free education to learn Catalan, not Spanish. This preservation of the Catalonian culture
represents the ongoing effort of the Catalonians to gain independence from Spain. Through
preserving the native Catalonian language through law and education, these Hispanic people show
how they adamantly defend their heritage and place high value on preserving Catalonian culture. I
recognized the respect the other Barcelonans had for the Catalonian people. Though their cultures
have many fundamental differences, the non Catalonians living in Barcelona learn how to speak
Catalan in order to communicate, but also to validate the integrity of their cross culture
interactions. This enables an open discussion politically and socially on the issues both cultures
bring to the discussion. After traveling through Spain, I was inspired by the people to learn how to

ABSTRACT
This research focuses its attention to support empirically and not separately the impact of marketing
activities, brand equity and customer satisfaction on firm performance. In addition, this study
intends to fill the gap of marketing efficiency effect on long term profits. Through methodology of

In addition empirical investigations that focus on considering marketing efficiency as an additional
influencer of firms profits is a research gap. We expect to fill this gap by shedding light on the
following objectives. The first is related to find out more empirical support to the effect of
marketing activities and positions on short and long term profits. The other objective intend to
demonstrate if the marketing efficiency increase the long term profits of firms more than the
augment generated by the marketing positions.
The remaining part of this work in progress is organized as following. Firstly, a theoretical and
empirical review of marketing impact and efficiency is presented.
Secondly, the theoretical model adopted and the hypotheses are stated. Thirdly, the research
methodology stage by stage is developed. Fourthly, the discussion and conclusion are presented.
Finally, the academic and managerial relevance is suggested.
MARKETING IMPACT AND MARKETING EFFICIENCY
The Resource Based View (RBV) recognizes the importance of a firm s internal organizational
resources as determinants of the firm s strategy and performance (Barney
1991; Grant 1991; Wernerfelt 1984). Barney (1991) defines the term internal organizational
resources as all assets, capabilities, organizational processes, firm attributes, information,
knowledge, that are controlled by a firm and

Low Vs. High Context
LOW VERSUS HIGH CONTEXT
Introduction:
In a universe of expanding worldwide cooperation, the need to perceive significant cutural contrasts
is discriminating. The pervasive way of cultural qualities and conventions is beginning to pick up
legitimacy on strategic and formative fronts. Yet over dependence on cultural definitions as a
method for comprehension each other is a dubious move; societies can be progressive and social
conduct deluding. The thought that culture is static alternately impenetrable to impact causes to be
reinvestigated the advancing qualities and declarations of huge numbers of the world s societies.
Beginning communications between altogether different cultures give understanding into the
development of social standards and the effects those cultures may have had on each other.
Low contextculture is a term utilized by anthropologist Edward T. Corridor in 1976 to portray a
correspondence style that depends intensely on express and direct dialect.
Definition :
Anthropologist Edward T Hall was the first to examine and characterize a low context society. In
his 1976 book titled Beyond Culture, Hall depicted a low context culture as a culture that conveys
data in a direct way that depends primarily on words. Low setting societies don t depend on
relevant components (i.e., the speaker s manner of speaking or non verbal communication) to
impart data. They take a more straightforward and unequivocal methodology. This is as opposed to
a high setting

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Autonomous Car

countries for road users (The star). Most of the car accident in Malaysia is cause by bad attitude

car making driving decisions without intervention of a human. Google s Driverless Car has
developed and tested a fleet of car and initiated campaigns to demonstrate the applications of
technology. Tesla Motor has also produced a fully autonomous car that can operate in any
condition and on any road. Additionally, in China, Baidu s first self driving car has hit the road on

Kuala Lumpur driver spend more than 250 million hours a year stuck in traffic (worldbank).
This cause the driver become less productivity, if they are not stuck in traffic, 250 million hours
of opportunity cost could make Malaysia attain higher GDP. The autopilot feature in
autonomous car could easily resolve this problem. Driver would have more time for themselves
when going in the car. They would not be focused on the road and they can take advantage to use
that time for doing other things which could not do when driving a car. White coller could
having their breakfast in car, or having video conference meeting while on the way to office.
This makes the pace of city faster and more efficiency. Next, autonomous car also play a role to
reduce the time finding a parking. According to a research from insurance company Allianz,
drivers spend up to 15 minutes extra on each journey just looking for a space to park their car. If
they drive for every meal in a day and each time spend 15 minutes extra just for parking, and
ended up they will spend one hour inefficiency in their car. The technology used in autonomous
car for parking is Advanced Parking Guidance System (APGS) or Park Assist. This technology
will find a suitable space, select reverse and automatically steer itself into the slot. It uses the
reverse sensors on the side of car to analyst the space. In summary, autonomous car could reduce the
time consumption of driver spend in the car and makes the country more

Leading Through Change
Leading Through and Beyond Change | L7451 A01
There are many reasons that change can or must occur within and organization. The key will be in
understanding the organization and the prospective change. According to Mangundjaya (2015)
there are many variables that can influence the success of organizational change, such as the content
of the change, the process of the change, individual characteristics, leadership, external environment
and organizational context (p. 67). Organizational change has the potential to successfully align an
organization with its goals or completely derail any future success and progress. It is important that
the organization takes the proper steps to prepare for, implement, and evaluate change.
I believe that a key to leading through, and accepting, change can be effective communication.
Although everyone may not be able to accept change, they should make that decision with proper
information on hand. Fullan (2015) stated that Consistent communication during implementation is
essential to getting the collective clarity and energy necessary for success. Communication sticks

change has been to consider it whenever necessary or obligatory through federal guidelines. The

students, and with many of the changes implemented, it does just that. One of the changes that is
currently happening is the change from a private organization into a non profit. This change is
going to be good for the organization, especially with the issues that for profit higher education
schools are facing, and also for the students as they may be able to have access to more resources for

Family and Systemic Therapies
The emergence of family and systemic therapies in the latter part of the 20th century saw
something of a paradigm shift in the world of psychotherapy and counseling. Those in the field
during the 1960 s and 1970 s were predominantly occupied with psychodynamic, behavioural and
humanistic approaches (Corey, 2009). Theories attached to these forms of therapy emphasized the
autonomy of the individual, and the capacity to engage in free, independent choice. In therapeutic
settings, much of the discussion would also typically be focused on cause and effect , in other
words; seeking an explanation for why a person was thinking, feeling or behaving in a particular
manner. Less attention would be focused on the context of the individuals experience, and the
matter of how a situation came to be as it is (Bowen, 1972).
This idea however is central to what would later become the practice of family and systemic
therapies. Family therapy advocates using practices that specifically address historical, contextual
and constitutional factors, including working with all members of the extended family and wider
social network as well as coaching people to manage their constraints within their unit (Carr, 2012).
Systemic therapy has its roots in family systems theory, which was pioneered by Murray Bowen, an
American psychiatrist who originally practiced within the psychoanalytic model, but later shifted
his focus to the role of family dynamics and dimensions of the family as a system during

Simulations Of Galaxy Formation
Simulations of galaxy formation based on the Lambda Cold Dark matter (О›CDM)
cosmological model predict that a large galaxy such as the Milky Way should have many (~
200) dwarf satellite galaxies. However, only about 20 or 30 have been identified. Where are the
rest? Warm dark matter, constituting of sterile neutrinos, is lighter and since dwarf galaxies
consisting mainly of dark matter are so difficult to find by visible light, there could be enough of
them to reconcile the large number of dwarf galaxies that simulations predict to exist with the
small number actually observed. We are looking for a weak unidentified emission line at E =

Chapter 15 Phobias Analysis
Of the many disorders presented in chapter 15, I find phobias the most interesting. Phobias are
more than just a strong fear or dislike. A specific phobia is diagnosed when there is an
uncontrollable, irrational, intense desire to avoid some object or situation. There are numerous
types of phobias. A few common phobias are; agoraphobia, which is the avoidance of situations in
which one will fearhaving a panic attack, especially a situation in which it is difficult to get help,
and from which it difficult to escape. Social phobia, which refers to an intense fear of being
watched and judged by others. It is visible as a fear of public appearances in which embarrassment
or humiliation is possible, such as public speaking, eating, or performing.

Medium Sized Cats In Education
Medium sized cats are some of the most popular animals in the industry of wildlife education,
and for excellent reason. Cats have fascinated humans for thousands of years and the bigger the
cat, the better. Impressing people with a lion or tiger doesn t take much effort. However, well
trained small cats hold the impact of their larger cousins, while remaining a safer alternative.
Some cats, like the ocelot, bobcat and lynx, are well known by both animal professionals and the
public. Other cats tend to stay unknown to those outside of the animal world, despite being
popular working animals. The serval and the caracal are two such cats who remain anonymous to
some degree. One of the reasons for this is the human condition of associating what we see with
something else. Often times people see serval and think cheetah, or see caracal and jump to
mountain lion. Even after explaining what the animal is, people will walk away from a show
thinking that the baby cheetah was adorable.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the smaller wild cats bring something special to the table, as well as their own challenges.
Bobcats are well known to people throughout the U.S., which makes them enjoyable to talk about.
At the same time, they are infamous to trainers for their stubborn natures. Ocelots are easy to
identify by their stunning fur, but also by their locking jaws and nasty attitudes. When it comes to
showing servals and caracals, someone might think that they have similar characteristics. If these
two cats were only compared by sight, they would be much alike. Both animals average 30 to 40
pounds with long legs and large ears. Why, then, is the caracal generally considered to be more
difficult to work with than the serval? Looking at the contrast between caracals and servals in
nature, one answer to their personality differences could be their

1984 And Fahrenheit 451
In the texts, 1984, by George Orwell, and Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, the concepts of
totalitarianism and censorship are addressed in various ways. Both texts are of dystopian fiction, set
in post nuclear war nations, although they are somewhat of a different nature. The concepts of
totalitarianism and censorship are explored throughout the texts by addressing the issue of
knowledge is power , the use and abuse of technology and the desensitising of society. Although
these are mentioned in both 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, they are different in the way they are
approached by each totalitarian government, as the government in 1984 is much more severe in the
way each of these issues are dealt with in the text.
Orwell and Bradbury address ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both authors emphasise the message that knowledge is power in order to warn modern society of
the damage that can be done by embracing totalitarianism regimes. Orwell is much stronger in
portraying it, which is displayed through the party slogan who controls the past controls the future,
who controls the present controls the past . Bradbury acknowledges this by removing literature,
although people are still free to think. Orwell takes it further by making readers question, what
knowledge can be trusted? If all thought is removed, eventually, nobody will be able to have power
because if the knowledge is unknown to be true, it cannot be used to form a common argument
against the government.
In 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, the governments utilise technology to abuse the citizens rights to
privacy as well as advertise political propaganda. In both texts, television plays an integral part
of the use of technology. In Bradbury s text, a 24/7 TV program includes the audience in order to
provide the impression they are an important part of society, whereas in Orwell s text, the
telescreens are not only used for propaganda, but also to constantly monitor Oceania s citizens.
This is evident when Winston kept his back turned to the telescreen. It was safer, though, as he
well knew, even a back can be revealing. In Fahrenheit 451, the TV program

Trust During Hell s Trauma
Trust During Hell s Trauma The story swan song by Robert McCammon is a post apocalyptic
novel about the survivors who are now in the aftermath of the nuclear blast. This was during the
Cold War that took place in America has been between America and Russia. It gives a perspective
of what s it s like to be in the middle of a traumatic tragedy. There were some who were lucky to
survive the tragedy, but there was something they needed to have, which was to trust, the survivors
needed to trust that they make it through. Trust is a needful thing even though it has been a hard
thing to get and to establish. Trust was difficult due to their inner personal troubles two of them
had some relatable reasons. Swan had an abusive stepfather not only to her, but Darlene is
known as Uncle Tommy. An abusive jerk when he was drunk and even accusing Darlene as
McCammon states, what am I supposed to do? Just smile as you go out drinking and gambling
money I earn? That money was supposed to go to our rent on the damned trailer and buy us
some groceries, and by God you just went and threw it away, just threw it . This was just him
drunk talking and an example of Uncle Tommy s accusation.ch3 (36). This made the lack of trust
reasonable as an abusive spouse who goes inflicts anger and rage. A monster at home is what
makes a thing like trust slip away as this kept going on.

A cream cracker under the settee is a dramatic monologue. A monologue is a drama piece

Cross cultural communication is the process of exchanging meaningful and unambiguous
information across cultural boundaries, in a way that preserves mutual respect and minimizes

competency is beyond knowledge, awareness and sensitivity in that it is the digestion, integration

Following are the five cross cultural communication needs that will allow for improved lines of

How Water Affects The Rate Of Change In Water
Water normally freezes at 0В°C, however this temperature reading is widely dependent on the
substances that are present in the water. When dissolving a substance in water, the freezing point
will be lowered, meaning that the temperature has to be colder in order for the water to
completely freeze. This is called, The Depression of Freezing Point . Many foreign substances,
such as alcohol, sugar and salt, can interrupt the balance of melting and freezing water at 0 degrees
Celsius. This has a direct link to the melting point of ice as melting point and freezing point both
are 0В°C.
When the temperature of water reaches a freezing point, the free flowing molecules get trapped
into organized crystal structures creating ice. However, when salt is introduced it disrupts the
process. When in contact with water, it splits up into two ions, being Sodium and Chloride
(NaCl). These ions move around in between the structure which then leads to the ice melting due
to the lowering to the freezing point which means more water molecules are leaving and less are
entering the solid. When the temperature lowers even further, the water molecules leaving the
solid phase will slow down even further and the rate will eventually match the rate at which water
molecules can find the solid in the presence of salt. When water leaves a solid at the same rate as
molecules enter, a lower freezig point is established. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The test that will be conducted uses 500ml of water and different levels of salt and sugar. Salt
and sugar, the solutes, being the independent variables, will allow the experiment to test the
melting rate of ice at different concentration levels. By adding salt and sugar in to separate ice
trays after diluting it and freezing it, the freezing point should be lowered, meaning that the rate at
which the ice will melt will decrease. This would also be the case if sugar was used along with

How well does your portfolio reflect the course goals and requirements (as defined in the syllabus)?
My portfolio is able to meet the course goals because it clearly describes my personal goals in
both positions. They are both tailored to the position that I am applying for, in that they take words
from the application in my short answer and cover letter specifically. I worked to make my online
presence more professional with a fairly distinct change in my profile, that prior focused on my
current job, that now looks forward to the positions that I hope to achieve. With my research of the
audiences, I found two positions that I think will provide me with skills and experiences that will
help me reach my future goals as well. The requirements according to the syllabus as to having a
copyedited final version is met in this draft also, and the audience is kept in mind in all citations.
This material has been submitted on time, and includes all required portions therefore meeting the

The Importance Of Social Media In Journalism
Whether we realize it or not we see journalism almost everyday in our lives. Journalism can be
found in abundance on television, newspapers, magazines, and even on our beloved social media
applications. So what is journalism exactly? The textbook definition defines journalism as The
collection and editing of news for presentation through the media (Merriam Webster Dictionary). In
journalismthere are many categories that articles may fall in when they are published in media,
some of the most common categories that are seen the most are objective reports, editorial opinion,
and entertainment/sports. When comparing and contrasting the categories that are used, we see
that there are more similarities than differences in such things as the tone, style, and the intendant
purpose of these articles. In the objective reporting style article Social Media and Fake News In
The 2016 Election , written by American authors Hunt Allcott and Matthew Gentzkow. Alcott and
Gentzkow suggest through a extremely informative tone, that the outcome of the of the 2016
presidential election was significantly influenced by the influx of fake news in the media (211). In
Allcott s and Gentzkow s article they both use an informative tone to express that the overall
spread of false information through social media plays a significant role in influencing people s
perspective. Allcott and Gentzkow construct their article by first giving context to this problem by
elaborating on how social

How Does Rap Music Influence Creativity
Rap music is dank, bro What would young people do without an angsty hip hop beat to inspire
their next rage session at their parents? Rap music has been around for ages, inspiring kids with

qualities. It teaches kids about the struggles of others lives, inspires creativity and hard work in
everyone who hears it, and has been a crucial part of history since the jazz days. Kids today

experience from different walks of life. It can teach kids about many other cultures and people. In
turn kids have better understandings of the world around them, they also earn better perspectives
on topics that are otherwise presented to them in a one sided way from people like parents,

our society because of the circumstances in which our society has chosen to exist. It could have
been started because of rules, regulations, and laws that we have placed upon ourselves that not

This theory attempts to give insight as to how a person can choose to live a life of crime and or
choose to become affiliated with an organized crime group and live a life of crime as a
profession and a career. In conclusion we are a society that has formed and developed into a
social institution. We have rules that are both written and unwritten. Those rules may not be for
everyone and those who refuse to agree to live by them often choose to live a life of crime. Once
they learn a life of crime they may choose to make a career out of their efforts and become more
intelligent as criminals. When this happens they learn to behave more and more like criminals until
their life becomes that surrounded by and involved with organized crime. We as a society refute this
and by refuting it we encourage it. Internet Reference, http://wps.pearsoncustom.com/wps/media

Grading Mechanics: Assigning Letter Grades Based on a Curve
Semester grades are determined by a curve. The nature of a curve is that your grade is based on
your performance relative to all other students in the class. It does not involve an absolute
standard, e.g., 90 100 = A, 80 90 = B, etc., which you may be used to from some other courses. I
believe that a curve is ultimately the fairest way to determine grades, since it does not set some
arbitrary absolute standard, but judges students on their performance relative to their peers.
With a curve, your grade is based on your percentile rank in the class, i.e., the percentage of students

What I Really Learned About My Undergraduate College Motto
When you have a good reason, you ll find a way. My undergraduate college motto was Find a

what that meant. I recall complaining to my department chair about another professor, and I

simply why? Even from a young age, we know intuitively that the motive behind an action is the
most important piece of any story. Knowing your why is a critical piece to living with intention.
It answers why you want something. This is just like asking, why is this important? The key
here is that the more important something is to us, the more likely we will continue doing it. For
example, we seek good schools for our children because we want them to be successful or even
safe. With success or safety as motivating factors, some parents will drive their children all the way
across town with the hopes of achieving that end. Similarly, your why supports your purpose,

The term fetish and the element around it can be taken as far back and before the 18th century, the
Portuguese, predominantly West African natives, referred to certain objects that were used in
religious cults and their workings during worship. These religious objects and artefacts described
were mainly used in voodoo and witch craft and were believed to be incredibly supernatural items.
From this, the concept evolved from an item or object that is seen to have magical and enchanting

Austrian neurologist and psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud was one of the first people to address the
subject of sexual fetishism and wrote an essay on the matter. After his investigation he d come to

same;
The fetish is a substitute for the penis...for a particular and quite special penis that had been
extremely important in early childhood but had later been lost......It remains a token of triumph
over the threat of castration and a protection against it.
Sigmund Freud, FETISHISM (1927)
According to Freud, a person s fetish, whether it may be a material object, act or some sort of
obsessive compulsive conduct, then that person is substituting the connection to the penis that they
had emotionally lost at childhood and finding support in that object or action. The word FETISH
in fact originated from Portugal, the word feitiço which means spell . This suggests a
representation of power or power over something, in this case power over an individual and one s
extreme attachment to an object, body part or specific situation.

Pathophysiology Emphysema is the irreversible enlargement of the acini that includes the
destruction of the walls of the alveoli without apparent fibrosis (Huether McCance, 2012). The
alveolar septa is destroyed which then amplifies the amount of air in the acinus. Inhalation of
pulmonary irritants such as cigarette smoke and certain environmental pollutants is thought to lead
to the hindering of the endogenous antiproteases and stimulate inflammation with the increased
activity of the proteases. With This results in the destruction of the aveoli and decline in the
elastic recoil of the bronchi. When alveoli are damaged it leads to a decrease in the surface area

There are numerous factors that increase the possibility of developing COPD, including
occupational and environmental exposure to chemicals, dusts, and pollutants, alpha1 antitrypsin
deficiency and cigarette smoking. When cigarette smoke is inhaled the particles enter the lungs and
create an inflammatory response. In response to the inflammation, macrophages and neutrophils
penetrate into the lung and release cytokines, chemokines and elastases which destroy the lung
parenchyma. Objective manifestations of emphysema include barrel chest, accessory muscle use,
diminished breath sounds, and wheezing on auscultation. Subjective manifestations consist of
patient complaints of wheezing, persistent cough, anorexia, dyspnea, weight loss, chest tightness

mono nutrient compounds in the first half of the film. Use of scary chemical names and
misappropriated information about said chemical is used for harrowing effect. Propylene glycol
is one chemical remarked to be a common food additive that could also be used to winterize your
car. As this is not a false statement, it is similar in effect to saying that water is in antifreeze. MSG
was stated as another chemical used in this manner that was extremely harmful (viewer was
implored at one point to search for MSG Obesity induced mice ). Aspartame and other artificial
sweeteners were also vilified, with claims such as Aspartame causing formaldehyde buildup in the
brain.
When studies were shown not to support the film s argument, they were occasionally argued to be
irrelevant due to interested manufacturers funding (and possibly manipulating) the data within the
studies for monetary gains. An example is when Dr. Mercola that the 90 studies that find aspartame
to be harmless by Ralph G. Walton and the like, 90 percent of them are funded by corporate interest
and that any independent studies find the exact opposite, insinuating fowl play in the

In The Devil s Arithmetic Hannah experiences this first hand, because while at first she can
remember where she was really from her memories started to fade. When she at last could not
remember anything about her true identity she became very frightened and did not understand what
was happening (The Devil s Arithmetic 100). Hannah experiences the same fear her relatives had
felt when they went through the Holocaust. It is then she realizes the importance of remembering
your past because she had never really realized the suffering they had gone through. This gave her
more respect for what her relatives went through than ever before. Through Hannah s confusion and
horror Yolen conveys the theme that it is important to remember the past. In Mapping the Bones
Yolen expresses the same theme, but through Gittel s remembrance of what happened to her during
the Holocaust. In the present, Gittel says that she has, five adopted children, all orphans of other
wars. (Mapping the Bones 411). Because she refuses to forget what happened in her past she
applied what she learned into her present day life. By remembering, she helped five other children
involved in wars to raise them better than how she had been raised. This illustrates the theme that
remembrance is important to the

  • 2. The Relevence of Free Will Genetics play a huge part in who we are. But we also have free will. Aidan Quinn Basically this quote is saying how we are raised in the home determines a big factory of how discipline we are however we still must take into consideration that we are still held accountable for our action regardless. Although how we were raised in the home play a major role with the choices we make in our entire lives as an individual. I do believe that morals have a strong factor in free willand determinism. Homes that teach morals and values in life have a strong factor in with their social behavior skill. Free Will is relevant within the criminal justice sector because I do believe the vast majority do have control of what they which is why they should be held accountable for their actions as well. However, determinism does have a strong relevance within the criminal justice system as well. The reason for my bias answer is because those who have clinically proven diagnoses of psychological mental disorder should be taken into consideration when committing crime. When one research the word free will the word is define as the ability to choose how to act (Free Will, n.d.). Then when researching the word determinism is defined as a theory or doctrine that acts of the will, occurrences in nature, or social or psychological phenomena are causally determined by preceding events or natural laws. Clearly the both are incompatible but they can work with each other in the criminal justice ethics ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. British Values In June 2014, the secretary of state for education, confirmed that schools would be required to promote British values from September 2014. According to the guidance from the Department for Education, the fundamental British values which schools should promote are: Democracy The rule of law Individual liberty Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith Every school in England must promote British values in their SMSC development, which is particularly important to Ofsted. The SMSC Quality Mark for Primary and Secondary Schools aims to help schools recognise and review the development of SMSC, which includes British values. SMSC stands for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Every school in England must show how well the students at that school develop in SMSC. There are a number of definitions surrounding spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and can be outlined as follows. Social development explores beliefs and experience and reflects upon these. It explores feelings and values, and promotes learning about yourself as well as others and the world around us. It promotes using your imagination and creativity in learning and the ability to reflect upon this as well as respecting different faiths. Moral development encompasses the ability to recognise right and wrong and apply this to their own lives and within the boundaries of the legal system thereby respecting the law and ... • 4. The Actions of Judge Danforth in The Crucible Essay In any community, the people rely on the power of law and justice to protect them. When the guardians of the law and order misuse their power it brings tragedy upon the town. In Arthur Miller s The Crucible the inappropriate actions of the character of Judge Danforth, the voice of authority of the community leads to the tragedy of social disruption of the town accompanied by breakdown in communal solidarity. Firstly, throughout the play Judge Danforth acts with pride and arrogance. At the commencement of act III Judge Danforth voices his view on the ongoing phase of the witchcraft trials by stating that Do you take it upon yourself to determine what this court shall believe and what it shall set aside? (Miller 85). Here Danforth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His reply is accompanied with a vindictive nature towards anyone who opposes the actions of the court or by extension, him. Therefore, his arrogance and pride restrains him from listening to others point of view. Lastly, despite hearing about the mass opposition and rebellion at the Andover witchcraft trials, Judge Danforth refuses to postpone the hangings and orders Reverend Parris that Now hear me, and beguile yourselves no more... Postponement now speaks a floundering on my part. (Miller 129). Danforth arrogantly waves off the request of postponement made by Hale and Parris. He thinks that the act of postponement of the hangings will raise the issue of his credibility as a judge. Danforth s pride of his status as a judge denies him from giving it a thought that his actions can lead to the death of innocent lives. When pride and arrogance interferes with ones wisdom the repercussions are often destructive. Judge Danforth proves this through the medium of his actions which lead to the destruction of trustworthiness in the community and brought tragedy to Salem. Secondly, Judge Danforth s irrationality and ignorance brings about poor decisions on his part. One of the instances where Danforth reveals his following attitude is when he denies to even look at a deposition presented by John Proctor as described by his words No, no, I accept no depositions (Miller 88). John Proctor hands him a deposition signed by Mary warren, stating that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Abuse in Government Care Abuse in Government Care It is unfortunate that in our society some children grow up without the opportunity of having a loving family to raise them. More unimaginable is children growing up with parents or family members that are abusive. Children raised in abusive environments that are reported to social services and removed from their home are placed into foster care. Foster care is defined supervised care for delinquent or neglected children usually in an institution or substitute home set up by the government. Some advocates claim that the government child care system is adequate, but others like David Van Biema of Time Magazine state that, foster care is intended to protect children from neglect and abuse at the hands of ... These children need a lot of attention and care so that they may live as normal a life as possible and learn to overcome the obstacles their lives will be presented with, goals such as these are hard to obtain with five to eight children in a home. With such large numbers it is not surprising that there is a median of 10.3 percent of children who reentered the foster care system within 12 months of discharge in the year 2000 (Dept of Health). The effect of our present foster care system is disastrous. Children are forced to move from one foster home to another, suffering abuse and neglect that cause the children to develop harsh psychological damage, severe behavioral problems, and suicidal thoughts, as shown in the story of on foster boy named Terry: Terry s story is in many respects typical of the plight of America s 500,000 foster children. He entered foster care at the age of one after he was found with his five siblings suffering from frostbite in an unheated home, his mother in a drug induced sleep. When he was five, he and two of his siblings were adopted by a foster family. To hear adoption proponents of today tell it, this should have provided the happy ending to Terry and his sibling s travails. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of a long journey through the labyrinth of the child welfare system. • 6. Cultural Experience Reflection Paper Cultural Experience Reflection: Spain, Healing Dirt, and Amores Perros When learning a new language, educating, experiencing, and learning about the culture behind the language is paramount. It is not simple enough to learn the vocabulary and grammar of Spanish. As a Spanish 1010 student, my learning experience has been enriched through participating in cultural events. Furthermore, I gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the language and native speakers. Over the last semester, I participated in the following three cultural experiences: traveling to Spain, attending the Healing Dirt event, and watching the movie Amores Perros. Fortunately for me, these three events covered a variety of issue areas (e.g., religious traditions, language dynamics, and machismo); additionally, each event was based in different Spanish speaking countries. Over the past summer, I traveled to Spain and was able experienced the culture and traditions of the Hispanic people for two weeks. I was struck by how language and cultural heritage played a major role in shaping the experiences of Hispanic people. The role of language plays a huge role in shaping the experiences and lives of the people living in Barcelona. In the city of Barcelona, Catalan and Spanish are the languages spoken. Furthermore, the government only provides free education to learn Catalan, not Spanish. This preservation of the Catalonian culture represents the ongoing effort of the Catalonians to gain independence from Spain. Through preserving the native Catalonian language through law and education, these Hispanic people show how they adamantly defend their heritage and place high value on preserving Catalonian culture. I recognized the respect the other Barcelonans had for the Catalonian people. Though their cultures have many fundamental differences, the non Catalonians living in Barcelona learn how to speak Catalan in order to communicate, but also to validate the integrity of their cross culture interactions. This enables an open discussion politically and socially on the issues both cultures bring to the discussion. After traveling through Spain, I was inspired by the people to learn how to speak ... The pervasive way of cultural qualities and conventions is beginning to pick up legitimacy on strategic and formative fronts. Yet over dependence on cultural definitions as a method for comprehension each other is a dubious move; societies can be progressive and social conduct deluding. The thought that culture is static alternately impenetrable to impact causes to be reinvestigated the advancing qualities and declarations of huge numbers of the world s societies. Beginning communications between altogether different cultures give understanding into the development of social standards and the effects those cultures may have had on each other. Low contextculture is a term utilized by anthropologist Edward T. Corridor in 1976 to portray a correspondence style that depends intensely on express and direct dialect. In his 1976 book titled Beyond Culture, Hall depicted a low context culture as a culture that conveys data in a direct way that depends primarily on words. Low setting societies don t depend on relevant components (i.e., the speaker s manner of speaking or non verbal communication) to impart data. The key will be in understanding the organization and the prospective change. According to Mangundjaya (2015) there are many variables that can influence the success of organizational change, such as the content of the change, the process of the change, individual characteristics, leadership, external environment and organizational context (p. 67). Organizational change has the potential to successfully align an organization with its goals or completely derail any future success and progress. It is important that the organization takes the proper steps to prepare for, implement, and evaluate change. • 11. Family and Systemic Therapies The emergence of family and systemic therapies in the latter part of the 20th century saw something of a paradigm shift in the world of psychotherapy and counseling. Those in the field during the 1960 s and 1970 s were predominantly occupied with psychodynamic, behavioural and humanistic approaches (Corey, 2009). Theories attached to these forms of therapy emphasized the autonomy of the individual, and the capacity to engage in free, independent choice. In therapeutic settings, much of the discussion would also typically be focused on cause and effect , in other words; seeking an explanation for why a person was thinking, feeling or behaving in a particular manner. Less attention would be focused on the context of the individuals experience, and the matter of how a situation came to be as it is (Bowen, 1972). This idea however is central to what would later become the practice of family and systemic therapies. Family therapy advocates using practices that specifically address historical, contextual and constitutional factors, including working with all members of the extended family and wider social network as well as coaching people to manage their constraints within their unit (Carr, 2012). Systemic therapy has its roots in family systems theory, which was pioneered by Murray Bowen, an American psychiatrist who originally practiced within the psychoanalytic model, but later shifted his focus to the role of family dynamics and dimensions of the family as a system during ... However, well trained small cats hold the impact of their larger cousins, while remaining a safer alternative. Some cats, like the ocelot, bobcat and lynx, are well known by both animal professionals and the public. Other cats tend to stay unknown to those outside of the animal world, despite being popular working animals. The serval and the caracal are two such cats who remain anonymous to some degree. The concepts of totalitarianism and censorship are explored throughout the texts by addressing the issue of knowledge is power , the use and abuse of technology and the desensitising of society. Both authors emphasise the message that knowledge is power in order to warn modern society of the damage that can be done by embracing totalitarianism regimes. Orwell is much stronger in portraying it, which is displayed through the party slogan who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past . Bradbury acknowledges this by removing literature, although people are still free to think. Orwell takes it further by making readers question, what knowledge can be trusted? If all thought is removed, eventually, nobody will be able to have power because if the knowledge is unknown to be true, it cannot be used to form a common argument against the government. In 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, the governments utilise technology to abuse the citizens rights to privacy as well as advertise political propaganda. In both texts, television plays an integral part of the use of technology. In Bradbury s text, a 24/7 TV program includes the audience in order to provide the impression they are an important part of society, whereas in Orwell s text, the telescreens are not only used for propaganda, but also to constantly monitor Oceania s citizens. • 21. How Water Affects The Rate Of Change In Water Water normally freezes at 0В°C, however this temperature reading is widely dependent on the substances that are present in the water. When dissolving a substance in water, the freezing point will be lowered, meaning that the temperature has to be colder in order for the water to completely freeze. This is called, The Depression of Freezing Point . Many foreign substances, such as alcohol, sugar and salt, can interrupt the balance of melting and freezing water at 0 degrees Celsius. This has a direct link to the melting point of ice as melting point and freezing point both are 0В°C. When the temperature of water reaches a freezing point, the free flowing molecules get trapped into organized crystal structures creating ice. However, when salt is introduced it disrupts the process. When in contact with water, it splits up into two ions, being Sodium and Chloride (NaCl). These ions move around in between the structure which then leads to the ice melting due to the lowering to the freezing point which means more water molecules are leaving and less are entering the solid. When the temperature lowers even further, the water molecules leaving the solid phase will slow down even further and the rate will eventually match the rate at which water molecules can find the solid in the presence of salt. When water leaves a solid at the same rate as molecules enter, a lower freezig point is established. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
