Probable Cause Trial
So you have broken the law, whether or not you had a warrant for your arrest, or not, and now you
have to stand trial. During this time, you may be wondering what s ahead on your journey to being
found innocent or guilty. There are many different things that you will have to endure, and it may be a
long process. Today, I will be writing about the steps from the time you have your initial appearance
until the time the judge gives the verdict on whether or not you are found guilty. After you have been
arrested, you are then taken in to booking at the police or sheriff s department. This means that the
police simply put you into their system. Once there, you have to give them your basic information,
give fingerprints and a mugshot, go through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will be told what you are being charged with and you will then give your plea of guilty, not guilty
or no contest. If you plead guilty, you have to explain what you did in detail and why you committed
the crime. If you ever have another trial, this can be used against you at a later time. You may also be
entitled to a plea bargain. A plea bargain is granted, you may get out with a lesser charge than what
you were originally charged with, or a lesser punishment. If you have more than one charge and plead
guilty, the prosecutor may even drop the other charges. If a plea bargain cannot be agreed upon, the
defense and prosecutor will come up with an agreement together and the judge will then have to agree
or disagree with what he or she thinks is best. If you plead not guilty, you will go to a criminal trial.
Then you have the no contest plea, which is kind of admitting to the charge, but not taking any
responsibility for the crime. An example would be getting a speeding ticket for going 55 in a 35 and
pleading no contest in court and getting off with just paying a fine. If you plead no contest once in a
criminal case, you cannot use it

Importance Of Credibility In Public Speaking
Ordinarily, to establish credibility, public speakers should earn the audience s trust and respect by
presenting themselves as authorities on the topic that they are speaking. Consequently, the speaker
should not rely on the content of their speech to gain credibility with the audience. Self presentation is
important too since the public will start judging the communicator before the speaker begins to
communicate verbally. Establish the authority to the public by speaking about the topic by stating the
source of where the knowledge: experience, training, or research came into perspective. When
speaking to a skeptical audience, begin by finding common ground. Acknowledge the appeal of the
opposing views before deciding to create a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When in doubt, choose the side of formal professional attire. Second, look at the public because it
shows sincerity. Nevertheless, the speakers who make eye contact with the audience appear more
open, trustworthy, and confident. Notwithstanding, if reading from a script or consulting cue cards,
look up frequently to maintain the connection with the audience. Third, the necessary step to establish
credibility is to speak loudly, clearly, and confidently. Confidence has become known to cause
contagious if a person has confidence, the audience will catch it quickly.
Fourth, tell your audience about your credentials because trust has become contagious to fans will
begin to believe more readily if an individual can prove that others value the person s expertise.
Credentials include certifications, relative degrees, recommendations, testimonials, volunteering
experience, work experience, and informally, other types of personal experience. Fifth, reveal a
personal connection to the chosen topic. Answer questions for the audience what has become at stake
for the speaker? How has the subject affected the speaker s individual s life? If it is appropriate, then
share a personal anecdote illustrates to establish a relationship to the topic. Lastly, step six builds

Messiah Of The Masses Summary
This paper is a review of the book Messiah of the Masses: Huey P. Long and the Great Depression.
The book was about the life history of Huey P. Long during the great depression era. The author of
this book was Glen Jeansonne and it was edited by Oscar Handlin. In 1993 this book was published by
Addison Wesley Educational Publishers Inc. There are many pros and some cons in this book but
overall it was a very interesting book. The author s goal was to educate everyone about the
misunderstood Huey P. Long. I agree that Jeansonne did accomplish his goal of doing that while
keeping a steady and fine flow throughout the book. It is also a good narration on human nature during
the time of the great depression. The only cons I have about the book was that it was very hard to
comprehend at points. I assume it was because I need to extend my vocabulary. Also, I did not like
how the book criticized Huey P. Long a lot. Even though he was somewhat a bad person I believe the
author could have put more accomplishments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Long is how he believed that was a master politician. I agree with this very much because of the way
Jeansonne wrote about his campaigning strategy. He basically had citizens of Louisiana wrapped
around his fingers by telling them what they wanted to hear. In chapter 7 it said that a national
correspondent wrote, They do not merely vote for him, they worship the ground he walks on... (p.142)
Also in chapter 3, Jeansonne supported his argument when he talked about how Huey limited his
points in a speech to only five points. Afterwards he stated that an assistant of Huey said, Smith
compared this tactic to promising a child a red bicycle for Christmas. (p.44) This view closely aligns
with my reasoning for my position of agreeing because he would talk about doing things and no one
would question how they got

Guatemal A Country And Poor Country
Guatemala is a beautiful, diverse yet small and poor country in Latin America. Because of its ongoing
economic crisis, the country has reached a reality where, according to WFP (2016), Guatemala has not
only the highest rate of malnutrition in Latin America, but also is considered the country with the
fourth biggest rate of chronic malnutrition worldwide. This topic has an enormous relevance because
as WFP (2016) mentions, the chronic malnutrition that kids from this country go though is what makes
Guatemala be one of the 36 countries in the world that form 90% of the worlds stunting. According to
Unicef (2016), the percentage of children of five years or less that are considered to be underweight is
for 4 in every 10. It is astonishing to realize that it is nearly half of the infant population in the entire
country of Guatemala that is undernourished. In the following paragraphs it will be examined
questions involving the relation that mothers have with the under nutrition of the children and if past
generations can influence under nutrition. Furthermore, it will be examined what is traditionally given
to kids at a daycare.
Is there a correlation between the relationships that mothers have with their children s under nutrition
at an early age? Can the current situation of malnutrition have been influenced by past generations?
Under nutrition is not only considered to begin at an advanced age (5 years or more). It has been
proven that infant malnutrition can begin even

Nero s Domus Aurea And The Colosseum
The Colosseum has been standing for over 1900 years but before discussing the Colosseum s
achievements, it is important to understand the historical context and background of the building. How
can a place go from being a symbol of extreme tyranny and private wealth to a symbol of one of the
greatest entertainment venues and architectural feats? The Roman Colosseum did just that. It
completely changed the public attitude and activity since it was built upon the grounds of what was
once the part of Golden House of Nero (Domus Aurea). Although both Nero s Domus Aurea and the
Colosseum are architecturally supreme and complex, the area holds rich history of private decadent
excess to a public attraction making them supreme and complex in two different ways. Nero was the
fifth Roman emperor of the Julio Claudian line who ruled from 54 68 CE. Nero did ... Show more

including Claudius. Nero was only seventeen when he became emperor in 54. Nero was not all bad, he
did things like eliminate secret trials, fixed some of the wrongdoing from the Claudius reign, initiated

Why Indecision Is Wrong
To be indecisive is to abstain from making decisions repeatedly. One of the reasons indecision is so
debilitating is due to its habit forming nature, along with its transmission from person to person.
Indecision is the fear of choosing wrong, which is taken to the extreme when someone indecisive
forms this habit of indecision. This furthermore leads to failure due to procrastination and the cycle of
indecision begins over again. Indecision is the procrastination of making decisions; a procrastination
that is a habit formed by the self doubt, fear of choosing wrong, or failure inhibited in an indecisive
individual. Indecisions has not only a habit forming nature, it spreads from one person to another.
Indecision is transmitted from one

and beautiful Sunday night on the Sunset High way in Oregon when Cheryl Keeton was brutally

stopped to see if he could offer any type of help.
Randall Blighton saw a silhouette of an infant in the vans window which now he says was a car seat.

Cheryl keetons pink funeral took place on September 24,1986 and her sons nor estranged husband
attened. By that time brad had it set in his head that they were next to be killed and picked up his new
girlfriend Sara Gordon and insisted that they never stay in one place more then once. Sara Gordon had
been married twice before and both had failed due to her busy career as a Doctor. When Sara met Brad
she felt as though he might be mister right and now she wasn t sure what she was feeling after
everything had happened. Her and brad dropped the children off at one Sara s relatives and went to
stay at a motel. They later took a shower together when Sara had noticed a burse under Brads arm and
he was quick to answer after Sara questioned where he had gotten that from that it was from the park
on the jungle gym. Apparently he went to get the littlest from the top and his arm banged down hard
enough to leave a mark.
Cheryl Keeton who had not taken her husbands surname, was already a full partner in the law firm of
Garvey, Schubert and Barer. She also had three sons Jess, Michael and Phillip who she loved more
then any thing. She was in a custody battle with Bradley Morris Cunningham her estranged husband.
Brad was the most likely suspect in Cheryl s murdered since it seemed as though he had been gone for
longer then what he said.

Credit Card Fraud
Running Head: Credit Card Fraud
Impact of Credit Card Fraud
Outline
Card Credit Fraud
Thesis Statement: Credit card fraud is an inclusive term for larceny and deception committed using a
credit card or any similar payment mechanism as a fraudulent source of funds in a transaction.
The purpose may be to attain goods without paying, or to achieve illegal resources from an account.
Credit card fraud is also an appendage to identity theft. According to the Federal Trade Commission,
while identity theft had been holding steady for the last few years, it saw a 21 percent increase in
2008..( Consumer Sentinel Network Data Book: January December 2008 (PDF). Federal Trade

They require a personal identification number (PIN) which may also be a violation. Card holders have
several countermeasures, including complex software which can assemble a vest interaction and
guesstimate the possibility of fraud. For example, a large trade occurring in a great distance from the
cardholder s home might seem mistrustful. Merchants may be commanded to call the card holder for
authentication, or reject the transaction or do whatever they want. Customers must call the issuer and
prove their identity to get their card back.
III. Compromised accounts Card bank account information is stored in a number of formats. Account
numbers formally the Primary Account Number (PAN) are often stamped or imprinted on the card,
and a magnetic streak on the back contains the data in machine readable format. Fields can vary, but
the most common include: * Name of card holder * Account number * Expiration date *
Verification/CVV code A. Card not present transactions
The major routes of fraud which is contrary for merchants who sale and ship products are the mail and
the internet as they affect legitimate mail order and Internet merchants. The card should be present
(called CNP, card not present) so the merchant can trust the issuer (or someone purporting to be so)

Social And Social Influence On Behavior Essay
Social influence Social psychologists try to understand human behavior in terms of the influence
others have in producing it (Aronson, Wilson Akert, 1994). The following passage explains
specifically how social groups can influence behavior. In particular, the discussion will Center on the
role groups play in the formation of social norms and social roles. With reference to experiments, the
passage will show the terms and degree to which people are likely to conform under group pressure to
those norms and roles. Muzafer Sherif (1935) conducted an experiment which showed the effects a
group can have on the behavior of an individual. Participants were asked individually to identify how
far a white dot moved on a black screen in a dark room. They were then asked to do the same task but
in a group with other participants who had also completed the task independently. It was found that
answers changed considerably towards a norm which they all shared. Just the presence of the group
influenced the participant s opinions. Jackobs and Campbell (1961), in a similar experiment, showed
how group norms can pass through generations. They replicated the study several times replacing one
old participant with a new one each time. They found that the norm found in the initial study was still
prevalent over time even when the original group no longer was present. The original group
established a norm which then became a social norm as it pervaded subsequent groups. However, it

Cymothoa Exigua Research Paper
Cymothoa exigua is slowly becoming a widely known crustacean like parasite. Most people tend to
refer to this parasite as the tongue eating louse due to its evasion and reproduction mechanisms. This
parasite is only attracted to fish but most importantly the snapper fish. Cymothoa exigua is known as
protandric hermaphrodites because they begin as males and later in their life cycle they end up
switching sexes. When Cymothoa exigua causes the fish to lose its tongue, it does not entirely affect
the fish in any other way.
Life Cycle/ Reproduction
The life cycle of Cymothoa exigua is unknown but one thing for sure is that they undergo sexual
reproduction. Scientists believe that when the juvenile parasite first attaches to the fish s gills, they

Examples Of Conflict In Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan
Within the text Rules of the Game written by Amy Tan, the clash of Chinese beliefs and values with
those of American beliefs and values can be seen. This clash of values and beliefs between two culture
causes many mother daughter conflicts throughout the story. Waverly grew up in San Francisco in a
Chinese American neighborhood while her mother was a first generation immigrant. This difference in
their surroundings has caused their beliefs and values to differ from each other. Due to the clashing of
Chinese and American cultures, there are multiple incidents of conflict between MeiMei and her
mother. A key example of such an incident is when MeiMei is forced to accompany her mother to the
Saturday market. According to the text, MeiMei s mother would proudly walk with MeiMei and tell
everyone who looked towards them that MeiMei was her daughter. MeiMei then told her mom if she
could stop telling everyone who looked their way that MeiMei was her daughter. Her mother
misunderstood what MeiMei said, thinking that MeiMei was ashamed of walking with her. This then
caused MeiMei to tell her mother, If you want to show me off, then why don t you learn to play chess.
When MeiMei had realized that what she said was wrong, she ran away from her mother. To MeiMei,
her mother going around and telling everyone that MeiMei was her daughter was embarrassing
because she didn t want her mom to use her as a source to gain popularity. In MeiMei s beliefs, her
chess victories were her own accomplishments, one she should be the only one to use since she feels
as though she gained them on her own. Her mother on the other hand, sees MeiMei s achievements as
a victory for the whole family and is proud of her daughter. MeiMei misunderstands this, thinking her
mother was just crediting herself for MeiMei s work and so runs off. This clash in values caused this
incident. MeiMei s escape from her mother leads to a new conflict of MeiMei running away from her
mom. It is stated in the text that MeiMei ran through the alleyways until she realized that she was
running from nothing. After two hours, MeiMei returned home and her mother said, We not
concerning this girl. This girl not have concerning for us. From this it can be

Coyote and Bear
The Native American tale of Coyote and Bear , originally translated from oral tradition in nineteen six
by G. A. Dorsey in the book The Pawnee, Mythology, Part I, tells us the story of Coyote who
accidentally meets Bear, and in order to protect himself from being killed by Bear, starts to make up
self praising stories to impress Bear. Eventually, Coyote convinces Bear, but after a few hesitant
moves, Bear realizes that Coyote was lying. The tale then, ends up with the murder of Coyote by Bear.
The most relevant literary figure used in the tale is the trickster, which is, in the study of folklore, a
god, a spirit, or simply a human hero who breaks god´s or nature´s rules, sometimes with bad
intention, but usually with final positive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nature has been cheated by the outstanding abilities of Coyote. However, the situation does not end
like that. The forces of nature triumph once again in order to show a tale s moral. Bear acts in a more
natural way. He finally concludes the cycle that his character was intended for, but not before showing
an initial naïve personality. This situation creates a first impression on the reader/listener, implying
that good convincing skills can defeat what is naturally expected to happen. However, and with full
intention of developing a tale moral, these convincing skills only take effect on a temporary basis. The
message this tale wants to issue is that nature might be unaware for some time, but at the end, it
always defeats any intention of shortcutting the life cycle. This moral is among the most usual used in
Native American coyote stories, which were normally told to audiences of young and old people alike.
They were sometimes told to teach about cosmology, as instructional stories for the young, to explain
history, and sometimes just for the sake of telling and listening to a funny story. In all these different
cases, Coyote stories are a reflection for our own lives, pointing out the smallest miseries and the
biggest strengths of humans. Unfortunately for him, in the present tale, Coyote serves as the example
of a negative attitude, which finally always leads to a tragic end. A different approach to the trickster
tradition in Native American oral

Essay on Settlement of the West
The existence of an area of free land, its continuous recession, and the advance of American
settlement westward explains American development . (PBS n.d.) By saying this Frederick Jackson
Turner helped increase critical thinking about the west and helped historians understand the causes
and affects it produced in the United States now and back then. The settling of the west was a great
significance in the United States culture as well as characteristics. The settlement of the west was a
huge movement after the American Civil War. Greatly due to the fact that in 1862 the Homestead Act

With the vast amounts of cultivation and trade progressing in the west many settlements managed to
form into permanent towns with the help of steady trade that helped the residents economically. Trade
was supported by the growth of the railroad that helped with the import and export of goods and
animals. In The Significance of the Frontier in American History (shvoong n.d.) Frederick Turner
makes a point in saying that the settlement of the west had created a different race in America. In that
the way of life was different and caused many people to adapt to their surroundings and mentally
perceive lifestyles different than their counterparts on the eastern seaboard. The settlement of the west
laid the foundations for the current day United States. With the diminishing amounts of Native
Americans their way of life and culture was crushed by Americans. Currently the amounts of
remaining people with Native American backgrounds have diminished significantly because of the
past incidents. Settling in the west many times was filled with trial and error, not all towns being able
to progress. Large cities such as Las Vegas, Nevada show the roots of what the once small town
thrived from, this one specifically being from gambling and prostitution. Myths helped make the west
seem more enticing by convincing the common man that he could finally become the man he has
always wanted to be. The settlement of any land is

Step Change Methodology And Tooling For Machining With An...
Today I will be talking about the research I did on quick change methodology. This is a very
fascinating and important topic for the machining process in all plants across the world. The topics
that will be covered in this paper are as follows defining quick change methodology and tooling for
machining with an overview history and recent advancements, SMED overview history and recent
advancements, then a compare and contrast of quick change methodology and SMED, and to wrap up
the paper I will illustrate how I can use this information to improve a manufacturing process I am
familiar with. These were great research topics and I learned a ton of great valuable information that
would be very useful in future endeavors.
First I will talk about defining quick change methodology and tooling for machining with an overview
history and recent advancements. It is a modular system that allows tools to be changed rapidly on a
machine during the initial part setup and the tool change after a tool is worn out. The system radically
decreases machine downtime for tool change for the duration of setup changes. It is also for changing
worn out inserts during machining. Normally a tool is fastened by putting it into a slot in the turret and
tightening screws to hold it resolutely. With doing this older process of fastening the tool, extreme
care must be taken to seat the holder correctly against existing butting surfaces. Then the tool offsets
must be set by touching the part or taking skin

Head Injuries In Football
Many people that play sports get into some type of injury, the majority of injuries sustained in sports
are usually head related. Football has about 118,886 injuries, basketball with 119,589 injuries, and
rugby with 1,214 injuries between the years of 2002 20014 and has continued to skyrocket. There are
difference between head injuries in football than when playing other sports. These differences can be
from minor, moderate, to sever. Football is more on the sever side because of the impact and number
of hits they are taking. On the other hand sports like basketball, soccer, and tennis are not as of
aggressive as football. And this is due to the lack of contact in the sports. These sports are very strict
about the contact when playing in a game, they are charged with a penalty or flagged if a player makes
the slightest contact with another player. Therefore you would rarely see a head injury let alone a sever
head injury when playing those kind of sports. With football being more aggressive and more contact,
the head injuries can lead to a player being hospitalized, and depending on the impact on the blow can
lead to death. When playing sports there are many different types of injuries. There are multiple ways
an injuring can happen and how it affects the players. Most importantly each injury should be treated
different depending on how bad the damage is. The most common head injury is known as a
concussion; a concussion is whne the brain bounces against the walls of

Essay about Alexander Hamilton and the Formation of...
Alexander Hamilton and the Formation of American Government
In the United States during the late 18th century, the American Colonies were struggling with their
identity. The Revolutionary War had won Americans their collective freedom, but the best way to
exercise it was the subject of much debate. One American, Alexander Hamilton, felt a need for a
common, strong economic and political base for the states. This ideology stemmed from both his
boyhood on the Island of St. Croix, and trying events during the Revolutionary War influences that
would later be instrumental in his publishing of the Federalist Papers. Hamilton s boyhood on St.
Croix was not that of a typical founding father. His mother took him and fled their home after ... Show

Underneath, however, one also sees the formation of Hamilton s love for order (Chernow 33). Slaves
greatly outnumbered any other demographic on the island, leaving the island in constant fear of revolt.
The strong plantation structure was the only curb for this fear of disorder. He would later be reminded
of his discomfort with such a sentiment during the period between 1777 and 1781 when the United
States operated under a confederate system. Hamilton s Federalist Paper #9 is titled: The Union as a
Safeguard Against domestic faction and Insurrection conveys the connection between Hamilton s fears
as a boy on St. Croix and his fears for the United States as a man.
The second major influence on Hamilton s political ideals published in the Federalist Papers was the
Revolutionary War. Early in the war, Hamilton obtained the position of Washington s aide de camp.
This position allowed him the highest security clearance, and as a result made him aware of the war
effort in its entirety. A serious problem Hamilton observed was an unwillingness of certain generals to
comply with orders, and no strong central body to enforce these orders. For example, following the
battle at the Hudson River Valley, the British position in the North was decimated; this was a logical
opportunity for General Washington to transfer troops from New England to his more exposed
position in the South (Harper 171). The two northern generals of whom he requested this of, Gates

you can tell anything to. You can have trust with your family, friends and relatives. People may see

friends who tends to keep secret information secret, might view trust positively. But, someone who

needs to be healthy, is what I believe the child s first trust instinct is. Next, as you get older and begin
play with your siblings, you start to rely on them to keep you safe. You trust that they will keep you
out of the street, when you are playing in the front yard or not let you get lost in the grocery store
while your parents are shopping. You trust your siblings just as much as your parents to provide you
with safety, fun and needs. Then, you experience trust with your friends. This can be shown by relying
on each other, keeping each other safe and believing that they will be there for you when you need it
most. As you grow older, trust grows to new expectations forcing you to constantly learn. The
different types of trust we experiences teaches us different life lessons that stays with us forever.
Throughout our lives, everyone wants to be trusted and experience trust with someone

Using The Credit Line Tied Down T Bill Rate
Answer 1.
I plan to use the credit line tied to the 3months T bill rate. In loanable funds market which borrowers
(my firm) demand funds and lenders supply them. The price in this market is interest rate.
Scenario a The growth rate of GDP in the U.S is expected to increase
Since there is an expectation on the U.S GDP to increase, this means the increasing labor force in the
market that indirectly increases the consumption and investments. May be the government s spending
potential is also increasing. These factors would create more demands in the loanable funds market.
So the demand and supply in the loanable funds market determines the interest rates. The following

Real interest rate = Nominal Interest Rate Inflationary premium
Exhibit 1b illustrates how inflation influences nominal interest rates. We consider a 3% market interest
rate as a stable price. Assume the expected rate of inflation is zero, there will be no inflationary
premium; under these conditions the nominal interest rate is equal to the real interest rate. Now there
is an expectation of inflation goes higher, forecasted 2% inflation, so the real interest rate now
becomes to 1% (based on the real interest rate formula). This case I am better off my firm s future
financing cost if I use the credit line.
Usually it is not going to work that way. When lenders expect inflation, they will be pushing the
interest rate upward by the expected inflation. This case the nominal interest rate is going to be 5%
and the real interest rate would become 3%. Lenders may not always forecast the future rate of
inflation accurately. If the inflation is higher than was expected then my firm will gain. On the other
hand if the inflation rate is less than anticipated then lenders will gain. Therefore, no reason why the
inflation will help either my firm or lenders.

Risks And Risks Of Risk And Risk Policy
Risk is a very important concept in the field of environmental sociology. Risk is defined as a
compound measure of the probability and magnitude of some incident or adverse effect associated
with a hazard. It refers to the probability and magnitude of adverse effects of technology or other
hazards on human health. Hazard, in this context, refers to the dangers or threats that can produce
adverse effects.
Risk and risk policy in a domestic situation can be seen in the current risk policy system in the United
States. The major participants in it are the executive branch agencies, congress, laws and consulting
firms and many more. Risk and risk policy in a situation outside of the United States can be seen.

A lot of people may not know what risk evaluation is in an environmental setting. Risk evaluation is
defined as the process of determining the acceptability of identified risks to guide policy decision
making. In other words, you find out the seriousness of the risks and see what policies need to be put
in place to help prevent them. There are four methods for risk evaluation. The first method is risk
benefit cost analysis. The risk benefit cost analysis means that risks are adequate if the economic
benefits outweigh costs but difficult to determine certain costs such as health and environment costs.
Little is said about the unequal distribution of costs and benefits across groups and time. The second
method is revealed preferences. Revealed preferences is based on the hypothesis that risks tolerated
currently or in the past provide a basis for evaluating the acceptability of new risks. The third method
is expressed preferences. Expressed preferences is based on asking people what they favor. This
method can be a problem because people may be incorrectly informed, change their mind, and are
unable to make tradeoffs between risks, benefits, and costs. The fourth method is de minims risks. De
minims risks means that some risks are too minor to be concerned with. Risk management is defined
as the effort to avoid, reduce, control, or mitigate the risks deemed unacceptable. Uncertainties

The Relationship Between Madness And Creativity, By...
Whether it is a natural talent or an acquired skill; writing allows artists to bring their creative
expression to life. Interestingly enough, there is a widespread belief that some writers develop their
creativity and knack for writing through suffering from a mental illness. This belief stems from past
research based on the relationship between madness and creativity, especially in the writing field.
Katherine M. Thomas and Marshall Duke wrote the article, Depressed writing: Cognitive distortions
in the works of depressed and non depressed poets and writers. Their article focuses on digging deeper
into the relationship between madness and writing by making an in depth analysis of writing samples
from depressed writers versus the writing samples of those who weren t. Duke and Thomas found that
there is a need for analyzing works of writing because it may provide understanding in the
relationship, which will lead to an understanding of depression and mental illness. Due to this widely
known relationship, some may look at mental illness in a positive light. This relationship may cause
people to look at the distortions as simply art; thus, diminishing the severity of mental illness. When
looking at psychological distortions from an artistic perspective, this may remove the humanity of the
writer; therefore; it is important to analyze and seriously look for the signs of cognitive distortions
because it may help us understand and possibly distinguish the relationship between

Family Dynamics Chapter Summary
Reading reaction 2
This chapter tell us about what they called the creator of the family movement Mr. Bowen. In this
chapters the lectors could find the theoretical formulations where some angles are form to describe the
union or functions of the family and how they are connected to each other (e.g., emotional triangles,
process, cutoff, society, genogram, differentiation, etc.) and so forth, (Nichols M. 2017; pg. 71 87).
Personally as we all grow and learn from each chapter of the book every information is important on
our careers. The information that I most retain in this chapter are the theoretical formulations and
strategies that will help us understand the family dynamics. Chapter five tells us family problem
solving; there is a six steps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The information that was new to me is the six steps models. As professionals we need to learn all the
information and techniques that we can apply to the benefit of the family.
Chapter six talks about structural theory this is important because every family has a structural base in
place; some concept are boundaries, subsystems, alignments, and complementary which are easy to
apply in therapy. The family structure is how is the interaction of the family, then how they interact
with each other and their own personal boundaries between each other. To be able to provide an
effective outcome in family therapy is imperative to consider the entire family members. The chapter
provide a guideline for structural family assessment as we can observe in page 120 (Nichols M. 2017).
The information provided in this chapter open the view of observing the interaction within the family
members and how it relates to the conflicts. All the information in this book it is imperative, however,
the family assessment was a good key for us as beginners. Learning all this material help us grow as
professionals in our careers.

Different Levels Of Assessments Have Been Selected
Three different levels of assessments have been selected to assess Tama in specific language domains.
These assessments identify skills that a child has or does not in particular areas of communication.
Information from the referral suggests that the semantic and pragmatic domains require investigation
of Tama s current language skills and whether they are typical for a child of 4 years 2 months.
Assessment Tools
MacArthur Bates Communicative Developmental Inventories (CDI) words and sentences is a level

information to supplement our direct clinical assessment (Paul, Norbury, 2012, p. 44). The report is
divided into two parts. Part I Words child use and part II Sentences and grammar . The CDI targets
current and emerging behaviours and the focus of this assessment is on the semantic domain for
vocabulary size and sentence types because of the parental concerns about expressive language. In the
report there are standard instructions about the completion of each section.
To engage the parent, suggestion for the report to be readily available when Tama uses language most

Why the Internet is Vulnerable
In the beginning network protocols that formed part of the Internet infrastructure were designed
without security in mind. Without a fundamentally secure infrastructure, network defense becomes
more difficult. Furthermore, the Internet is an extremely dynamic environment in terms of both
topology and emerging technology. [COH95]
First, because of the inherent openness of the Internet and the original design of the protocols, Internet
attacks in general are quick, easy, inexpensive, and may be hard to detect or trace. [KRO92]
Second, many sites place unwarranted trust in the Internet. It is common for sites to be unaware of the
risks or unconcerned about the amount of the trust they place in the Internet.
Third, much of the traffic on the Internet is not encrypted, confidentiality and integrity are difficult to
achieve. This situation undermines not only applications (such as financial applications that are
network based) but also more fundamental mechanisms such as authentication and no repudiation.
Fourth, another factor contributing to the vulnerability of the Internet is the rapid growth and use of
the network, accompanied by rapid deployment of the network services involving complex
applications. Often these services are not designed, configured, or maintained

The Nonthreatening Rise of China Essay
For the past twenty five years, China has witnessed an overall increase in its domestic growth
(Fischler 148). According to the article, The Rise of China as a Global Power, by Dr. Rosita Dellios,
China is the world s fourth largest trading nation, rising from 32nd in 1978 to 10th in 1997. Similarly,
China s GDP is also second to the United States of America, generating 13 percent of the world s

average tariff dropped from 41 percent in 1992 to 6 percent in 2001, becoming one of the most open

According to Mark Borthwick, its combined population and physical domain have not been equaled
by any other nation. Correspondingly, with impressive geographic dimension and civilizational power,
China is easily able to ascertain a stabilizing influence. Therefore, after decades of exerting only
modest influence, China is now a greater regional actor in Asia (Saunders 127). Rendering from the
article, The Rise of China as a Global Power, the rise of China could represent an alternative to
American global dominance. Whether this alternative is a form of complementary balance like the
Chinese yin yang symbol, or a dangerous competition for global hegemony, has remained a matter of
debate. Nevertheless, according to the source, China s Role in Asia, by Phillip C. Saunders cited by
Shambaugh and Yahuda, China s regional security strategy and a range of diplomatic, military, and
economic assurance measures have had a significant impact in easing Asian concerns about a strong
China (127). Furthermore, Asia has generally shifted from observing China as a threat to viewing
China as a prospect, with Japan being the exception to this trend (Shambaugh and Yahuda 127).
Therefore, the rise of China is not a threat to Asian stability as noted in China s political regime,
military, and economy. First of all, the rise of China is not only nonthreatening but also beneficial to
Asian stability through its political

A Controversy With The Name The Washington Redskins are a professional American football team
that is based out of Washington area and currently play at FedEx Field in Maryland. In 1932, the name
Boston Braves emerged when the football program began to arise. The following year, the name the
Boston Redskins replaced the original name of the Boston Braves. In 1937, the team changed
locations to Washington, thus making their current team name the Washington Redskins.
Unfortunately, a problem arose around the 1990 s when the Native American people began to feel
disrespected . The reason the Native American people have such hatred for the team is due to the fact
that it portrays and offends the Natives skin color with the name, Redskin. The Washington Redskins
debate plays a significant role in professional sports team history due to the demoralization amongst
Native American Society. Factors that contribute to this debate include, but are not limited to; religion,
economics, and politics.
The Native American people have a tenacious opinion on whether the Washington Redskins team
should change their name due to its derogatory meaning. According to Merriam Webster s Dictionary,
the word Redskin is defined as Native American, but is specifically stated to be Usually Offensive

Ignorance In Chickamauga, By Ambrose Bierce
Somewhere in the world, a war is being fought. Blood is being spilled, screams and gunshots are
filling up the sky as lives are being taken. This brutal, violent, and horrific experience is separated
from society by a wall of ignorance and misconception. In Chickamauga , Ambrose Bierce breaks
down this barrier by using the deaf mute child as a way to symbolize society s ignorance and
misconception towards war.
One way that the deaf child is being symbolized is him being a deaf mute (4). Being deaf hinders the
child s ability to comprehend sound, which prevents him from experiencing what war truly is. During,
his trip to the forest, the boy sobbed himself to sleep (1). It wasn t until later that the boy discovers
what happens while he is sleeping: Almost within a stone s throw of where he lay they had fought a
battle; but all unheard by him were the roar of the musketry, the shock of the cannon, the thunder of
the captains and the shouting. He had slept through it all (3). Due to the boy not being able to hear, he

conspicuous in the light of the conflagration, lay the dead body of a woman (4). At this point, the boy
inherits a full understanding of what war really is. Throughout the whole story he has not come upon
this until it affects him personally. Bierce uses this as a way to denote how society is similar to boy in
the way that they do not completely understand war unless it has affected

Who Is Faber In Fahrenheit 451
Ray Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit 451 in 1953 on a typewriter in his basement. Fahrenheit 451 is based
in a futuristic United States where books are banned and constantly burned by firefighters. Faber is the

How Did Shakespeare Destroy Macbeth
William Shakespeare wrote the famous tragedy named Macbeth, about a bloody rise to power and the
tragic downfall of the warrior Macbeth. There are accusations that some scenes and songs from this
play have been augmented from previous works, specifically the witch scenes. Most people argue that
since there were no copyrights during the era in which Macbeth was written, Shakespeare indeed did
not plagiarized any songs or scenes. However, the removal of the witch scenes that include the stolen
songs would cause the play to crumble. Therefor the witch scenes and songs are indeed original to
Shakespeare s play Macbeth.

Communism Of The Vietnam War And The Cold War
Communism is an ideology that has a very long history more than one third of the globe. This
ideology is followed by Russia, Cuba, Laos, China, North Korea, and Vietnam. This ideology is the
source of many revolutions and conflicts throughout the history likes the English Civil War, the
Bolshevik Revolution, the Vietnam War, the Korea War and the Cold War. However, what makes
Communism different from other ideologies is its origin, its policy, and its effects on the poor and the
working class.
Communism originated during the Stone Age, at the beginning of our human civilization from the
fourth B. C. as primitive Communism . At that point, everyone had an equal amount of work. Then it
was later being replaced by monarchy and capitalism. Communism has been mentioned in many
books: The Bible, Plato s Republic by Plato, Utopia (1516) by Sir Thomas More, City of the Sun
(1623) by Tommaso Campanella. This ideology also led to the English Civil War, a rebellion among
the poor class (peasant class) and the dominant class. But later being repressed heavily by the
dominant class. After the Industrial Age, the difference between the poor and the wealthy became
clearer, which lead to the rise of modern Communism . According to Marx, the Father of modern
Communism , he used to say: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need (World
History and Cultures). Later on, Marx met Engels. Sharing the same idea of the injustice among
classes, they published The

Immigration And Open Immigration Policy Essay
On November 10, 2015, two National Economic Experts argued on what the U.S. Immigration policy
should be? Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies argued against
open immigration, while Alex Nowrasteh, an immigration policy analyst for the CATO Institute
argued in favor of freer immigration. Reporter Jonathan Gonzalez of 9News Denver moderated the
debate. The argument made by both experts was supported by strong evidence even though the ideas
appear to be on two extreme ends with no middle ground ideas or compromises. At one extreme there
is a need to reduce or stop immigration while the other extreme advocates for open borders. Even
though Immigration has been an important part of American history, recently it has become a
contentious issue, which is mostly about borders or no borders, and does not take in to account the
macroeconomic aspect of this movement. The two experts argue on how the U.S. immigration
program needs to adjust by scaling back or blocking further immigration vs. open immigration policy
consistent with American values that promotes free market economy.
One of the debate question was about the increase in population from immigration It was estimated
that population will increase up to 35 percent in 50 years from immigration only. Alex Nowrasteh
argued that throughout history the U.S. adult immigrant population has never been over 15 percent.
He asked, what if the U.S. stopped all immigration in the 1800s, what will be

  • 2. Probable Cause Trial So you have broken the law, whether or not you had a warrant for your arrest, or not, and now you have to stand trial. During this time, you may be wondering what s ahead on your journey to being found innocent or guilty. There are many different things that you will have to endure, and it may be a long process. Today, I will be writing about the steps from the time you have your initial appearance until the time the judge gives the verdict on whether or not you are found guilty. You will be told what you are being charged with and you will then give your plea of guilty, not guilty or no contest. If you plead guilty, you have to explain what you did in detail and why you committed the crime. If you ever have another trial, this can be used against you at a later time. You may also be entitled to a plea bargain. A plea bargain is granted, you may get out with a lesser charge than what you were originally charged with, or a lesser punishment. If you have more than one charge and plead guilty, the prosecutor may even drop the other charges. If a plea bargain cannot be agreed upon, the defense and prosecutor will come up with an agreement together and the judge will then have to agree or disagree with what he or she thinks is best. If you plead not guilty, you will go to a criminal trial. Then you have the no contest plea, which is kind of admitting to the charge, but not taking any responsibility for the crime. An example would be getting a speeding ticket for going 55 in a 35 and pleading no contest in court and getting off with just paying a fine. If you plead no contest once in a criminal case, you cannot use it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Self presentation is important too since the public will start judging the communicator before the speaker begins to communicate verbally. • 4. Messiah Of The Masses Summary This paper is a review of the book Messiah of the Masses: Huey P. Long and the Great Depression. The book was about the life history of Huey P. Long during the great depression era. The author of this book was Glen Jeansonne and it was edited by Oscar Handlin. In 1993 this book was published by Addison Wesley Educational Publishers Inc. There are many pros and some cons in this book but overall it was a very interesting book. The author s goal was to educate everyone about the misunderstood Huey P. Long. I agree that Jeansonne did accomplish his goal of doing that while keeping a steady and fine flow throughout the book. It is also a good narration on human nature during the time of the great depression. The only cons I have about the book was that it was very hard to comprehend at points. I assume it was because I need to extend my vocabulary. Also, I did not like how the book criticized Huey P. Long a lot. Even though he was somewhat a bad person I believe the author could have put more accomplishments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Long is how he believed that was a master politician. (p.142) Also in chapter 3, Jeansonne supported his argument when he talked about how Huey limited his points in a speech to only five points. Afterwards he stated that an assistant of Huey said, Smith compared this tactic to promising a child a red bicycle for Christmas. Because of its ongoing economic crisis, the country has reached a reality where, according to WFP (2016), Guatemala has not only the highest rate of malnutrition in Latin America, but also is considered the country with the fourth biggest rate of chronic malnutrition worldwide. According to Unicef (2016), the percentage of children of five years or less that are considered to be underweight is for 4 in every 10. It is astonishing to realize that it is nearly half of the infant population in the entire country of Guatemala that is undernourished. In the following paragraphs it will be examined questions involving the relation that mothers have with the under nutrition of the children and if past generations can influence under nutrition. Furthermore, it will be examined what is traditionally given to kids at a daycare. Is there a correlation between the relationships that mothers have with their children s under nutrition at an early age? Can the current situation of malnutrition have been influenced by past generations? Under nutrition is not only considered to begin at an advanced age (5 years or more). Nero s Domus Aurea And The Colosseum The Colosseum has been standing for over 1900 years but before discussing the Colosseum s achievements, it is important to understand the historical context and background of the building. How can a place go from being a symbol of extreme tyranny and private wealth to a symbol of one of the greatest entertainment venues and architectural feats? The Roman Colosseum did just that. It completely changed the public attitude and activity since it was built upon the grounds of what was once the part of Golden House of Nero (Domus Aurea). Although both Nero s Domus Aurea and the Colosseum are architecturally supreme and complex, the area holds rich history of private decadent excess to a public attraction making them supreme and complex in two different ways. Social And Social Influence On Behavior Essay Social influence Social psychologists try to understand human behavior in terms of the influence others have in producing it (Aronson, Wilson Akert, 1994). The following passage explains specifically how social groups can influence behavior. In particular, the discussion will Center on the role groups play in the formation of social norms and social roles. With reference to experiments, the passage will show the terms and degree to which people are likely to conform under group pressure to those norms and roles. Muzafer Sherif (1935) conducted an experiment which showed the effects a group can have on the behavior of an individual. Participants were asked individually to identify how far a white dot moved on a black screen in a dark room. They were then asked to do the same task but in a group with other participants who had also completed the task independently. It was found that answers changed considerably towards a norm which they all shared. Just the presence of the group influenced the participant s opinions. Jackobs and Campbell (1961), in a similar experiment, showed how group norms can pass through generations. They replicated the study several times replacing one old participant with a new one each time. They found that the norm found in the initial study was still prevalent over time even when the original group no longer was present. Examples Of Conflict In Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan Within the text Rules of the Game written by Amy Tan, the clash of Chinese beliefs and values with those of American beliefs and values can be seen. This clash of values and beliefs between two culture causes many mother daughter conflicts throughout the story. Waverly grew up in San Francisco in a Chinese American neighborhood while her mother was a first generation immigrant. This difference in their surroundings has caused their beliefs and values to differ from each other. Due to the clashing of Chinese and American cultures, there are multiple incidents of conflict between MeiMei and her mother. A key example of such an incident is when MeiMei is forced to accompany her mother to the Saturday market. According to the text, MeiMei s mother would proudly walk with MeiMei and tell everyone who looked towards them that MeiMei was her daughter. MeiMei then told her mom if she could stop telling everyone who looked their way that MeiMei was her daughter. Her mother misunderstood what MeiMei said, thinking that MeiMei was ashamed of walking with her. This then caused MeiMei to tell her mother, If you want to show me off, then why don t you learn to play chess. When MeiMei had realized that what she said was wrong, she ran away from her mother. To MeiMei, her mother going around and telling everyone that MeiMei was her daughter was embarrassing because she didn t want her mom to use her as a source to gain popularity. In MeiMei s beliefs, her chess victories were her own accomplishments, one she should be the only one to use since she feels as though she gained them on her own. Her mother on the other hand, sees MeiMei s achievements as a victory for the whole family and is proud of her daughter. MeiMei misunderstands this, thinking her mother was just crediting herself for MeiMei s work and so runs off. This clash in values caused this incident. MeiMei s escape from her mother leads to a new conflict of MeiMei running away from her mom. Eventually, Coyote convinces Bear, but after a few hesitant moves, Bear realizes that Coyote was lying. The tale then, ends up with the murder of Coyote by Bear. This situation creates a first impression on the reader/listener, implying that good convincing skills can defeat what is naturally expected to happen. However, and with full intention of developing a tale moral, these convincing skills only take effect on a temporary basis. The message this tale wants to issue is that nature might be unaware for some time, but at the end, it always defeats any intention of shortcutting the life cycle. This moral is among the most usual used in Native American coyote stories, which were normally told to audiences of young and old people alike. In all these different cases, Coyote stories are a reflection for our own lives, pointing out the smallest miseries and the biggest strengths of humans. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Real interest rate = Nominal Interest Rate Inflationary premium Exhibit 1b illustrates how inflation influences nominal interest rates. We consider a 3% market interest rate as a stable price. Assume the expected rate of inflation is zero, there will be no inflationary premium; under these conditions the nominal interest rate is equal to the real interest rate. Now there is an expectation of inflation goes higher, forecasted 2% inflation, so the real interest rate now becomes to 1% (based on the real interest rate formula). This case I am better off my firm s future financing cost if I use the credit line. Usually it is not going to work that way. When lenders expect inflation, they will be pushing the interest rate upward by the expected inflation. This case the nominal interest rate is going to be 5% and the real interest rate would become 3%. Lenders may not always forecast the future rate of inflation accurately. • 25. The Relationship Between Madness And Creativity, By... Whether it is a natural talent or an acquired skill; writing allows artists to bring their creative expression to life. Interestingly enough, there is a widespread belief that some writers develop their creativity and knack for writing through suffering from a mental illness. This belief stems from past research based on the relationship between madness and creativity, especially in the writing field. Katherine M. Thomas and Marshall Duke wrote the article, Depressed writing: Cognitive distortions in the works of depressed and non depressed poets and writers. Their article focuses on digging deeper into the relationship between madness and writing by making an in depth analysis of writing samples from depressed writers versus the writing samples of those who weren t. Duke and Thomas found that there is a need for analyzing works of writing because it may provide understanding in the relationship, which will lead to an understanding of depression and mental illness. Due to this widely known relationship, some may look at mental illness in a positive light. This relationship may cause people to look at the distortions as simply art; thus, diminishing the severity of mental illness. When looking at psychological distortions from an artistic perspective, this may remove the humanity of the writer; therefore; it is important to analyze and seriously look for the signs of cognitive distortions because it may help us understand and possibly distinguish the relationship between ... Without a fundamentally secure infrastructure, network defense becomes more difficult. Furthermore, the Internet is an extremely dynamic environment in terms of both topology and emerging technology. [COH95] First, because of the inherent openness of the Internet and the original design of the protocols, Internet attacks in general are quick, easy, inexpensive, and may be hard to detect or trace. Third, much of the traffic on the Internet is not encrypted, confidentiality and integrity are difficult to achieve. This situation undermines not only applications (such as financial applications that are network based) but also more fundamental mechanisms such as authentication and no repudiation. In Chickamauga , Ambrose Bierce breaks down this barrier by using the deaf mute child as a way to symbolize society s ignorance and misconception towards war.
