The Health And Safety Code Section 85.007 Education Program
Ashley St. Clair English 1302 Professor Beverage 31 October 2014 Sexuality A 2011 Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) survey indicates that more than 47 percent of all high school
students say they have had sex; and 15 percent of high school students have had sex with four or more
partners during their lifetime, (NCSL). In our society today sex is a very open subject and is being
observed by young adults in everyday life. Walking down the street we see half naked women
plastered on billboards and street signs, leaving nothing to the imagination and making adolescents
everywhere question why and wonder what that is. As children we are taught that abstinence before
marriage is the right way to live, and engaging in such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From experience, at the age of ten I was taught by my mother that I should never engage in sex unless
I was married and ready to procreate. At the age of twelve I was sexually active. By the age of fifteen I
was pregnant with my first son and becoming a single mother at a very early age. When you are young
and curious and want to know why something is a certain way, you look for answers and research as
much as you can to get a full idea about what something is. So when children are taught that sex is bad
without given any background information to why or what it is, they tend to look deeper and start to
engage in the activities to test the water and see if what they are taught is true. Rebellion is a very
common among children and teenagers, and to be forced into believing that something is bad and
harmful for you, just to find out the truth about sex, will eventually cause a stir and up rise of many
young adults. More teens are learning sex from the media or from their friends instead of from their
parents or a sexual education class taught in schools. Nearly three fourths of television shows contains
talk about sex or show sexual behavior, (King and Regan 2). When we drive down the road we see
several stores promoting sex such as Condoms to Go, Condom Sense, Sarahs Secret, and New Fine
Arts. Children who have no clue to what these stores are, automatically want to know everything
about it and why it

Amanda s Cognitive Abilities And Cognitive Processing Skills
Amanda s cognitive abilities were assessed through the use of the WPPSI IV in addition to
supplemental subtests from the WJ IV COG and KABC II. On the WPPSI IV, subtests that measure
different cognitive processing abilities combine to form five index scores: Verbal Comprehension,
Fluid Reasoning, Working Memory, Visual Spatial Processing and Processing Speed which all
together make up the Full Scale IQ score (FSIQ).
On the WPPSI IV, Amanda earned an FSIQ score of 97, which ranks her overall ability at the 42nd
percentile and falls within the Average range. However, this estimate of her general intellectual ability

It should be noted that all of the subtests required Amanda to listen to a question, and then respond
verbally with an answer.
The first subtest administered assessed Amanda s verbal reasoning and concept formation abilities.
Specifically, Amanda was verbally presented with two words and she had to tell the examiner how
they were alike or similar. On this measure she scored in the Average range (Similarities, scaled score
= 9). On the second subtest administered, Amanda was asked general knowledge questions, which she
had to answer verbally (e.g. how many months are in a year). Amanda scored within the Average
range on this subtest (Information: scaled score =9). On the last subtest, Amanda was presented with a
word and was asked to verbally provide a definition. She scored within the Below Average range
(Vocabulary, scaled score = 6) on this task to derive the word meanings. As the task items increased
with difficulty, Amanda responded with I don t know.
Amanda obtained a Verbal Comprehension score of 93, which is ranked at the 32nd percentile and is
classified in the Average range. An additional composite score taking into account all three subtests
could not be calculated, given the significant difference in the range of scores. When

Social Inquiry And A Natural Human Activity
Human beings seek a general understanding of their environment or the world around them. This is
what is known as inquiry and it is a natural human activity. People recognize that present
circumstances usually affect the future and as such, they need to make decisions regarding their
present situation to have a better future compared to the present circumstance. Such needs push them
to inquire about both the present and the future situations to develop and give them a better chance of
having a comfortable life. Through social inquiry, people ask questions, they gather the information
and examine the background to most of the important societal events and ideas (Pollner, 2010).
There exist differences and similarities between social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Social inquiry is a systematically way of thinking. It is a way that the mind revels if a circumstance or
situation is true or false even when other things point to the same outcome.
Social inquiry is where the situations are broken down and looking at it to determine why such
occurrences happened or took place. Assumptions is what we humans do on a daily basis, not
following it up or trying to understand the circumstance behind it (Greene, 2007). Everyday
assumptions are made mainly because we as individuals have been brought up to believe that situation
or circumstance to be true. Most of the situations are what human beings have been brought up
understanding it that way. Everyday assumptions are made from what human beings learn on a daily
basis. They are based on who people interact with such as environment. As such, the difference in
regard to social inquiry arises. Where everyday assumption depends on what human beings learn and
their interaction to different phenomena, social inquiry tries to understand better through different
methods of research. Another difference between the two is the people understand. Everyday
assumption changes over time. In a certain period, the assumption may mean something, however, in
another period it changes meaning to mean a totally different thing. Social inquiry however rests its
case when a conclusion is reached about the situation or circumstance. The matter can only be
revisited if it is felt that the investigation or

The Iron-Sulfur-Made Up Hypothesis
There are many different ideas of how life began on Earth, and it seems that people can not agree on
one. Scientists believe that life must have began as early as 3.8 billion years ago, but they still can t
decide on how it started. There are many theories that explain different ways it may have began.
The Primordial Soup Hypothesis was presented by The Russian Chemist A.I. Oparin and English
Geneticist J.B.S. Haldane. They came up with this idea in 1920. In this theory, they thought that the
combination of some chemicals and a source of energy made amino acids, which later evolved into the
first life on Earth. They believed that life started in an ocean or pond. In 1950, Stanley Miller and
Harold Urey did an experiment to test this hypothesis by mixing gases from Earth and sparking the
mixture to represent lightning. The conclusion came to be amino acids. These scientists thought that
this hypothesis could be correct because the current scientific level did not show any problems with
their ideas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thought that a metabolic cycle was capable of producing complex compounds. Over time, lipids
would have built up on the pyrite and made an enclosed membrane that may have evolved into the

believed because it was supported by evidence as some of the other theories were not supported as

Personality Survey Paper
Personality Survey Rachel Reda Keiser University Personality Survey According to Dennis Coon and
John O. Mitterer (2016), psychologists use a large number of concepts and theories to explain
personality (p. 384). Traits are qualities that a person consistently exhibits to make up who they are. I
took the personality survey on myself. Then I used four raters to compare how I view myself versus
how others view my personality. METHODOLOGY To begin my personality survey, I first asked my
parents, who live out of state. I sent the list through Facebook messenger and they each replied with
the 20 traits they selected. My next participant was a good friend who is also out of state. She sent me
her response via email. My fourth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel that my results depended on who was taking the survey. Adding other techniques of personality
assessments, such as interviews, direct observation, or situational testing, would help to get more
accurate results. Certain people in our lives will see us in different ways. My parents knew I was a
little rebellious when I was a teenager, but my adult friend and husband wouldn t agree with that at all.
My husband knows how I can be impatient sometimes or pessimistic, but a friend or co worker might
not ever know that about me. According to Barbara Engler (2014), psychologists regard personality as
a person s unique long term pattern of thinking, emotions, and behavior (Coon Mitterer, 2016, p. 384,
Engler 2014). With this type of survey, I think that the traits with the most checkmarks are the traits
the person has more consistently than the traits with just one or two

Battle Of Britain
The Battle of Britain was an extremely important piece of history that was almost completely
exclusive to air battles between the Royal Air Force and the German Luftwaffe. Luckily for Great
Britain, its air defense system was one of the most effective of its time. Luckily for Germany, the
Luftwaffe contained numbers that were far superior to Great Britain s, in terms of men and also the
amount of planes used in battle and in bombings. The Battle of Britain was also the first big battle to
use radar on Great Britain s coast to its full potential. One of the biggest attacks planned by Hitler was
the attack on London, which ended up turning the battle in Great Britain s favor. And so the Battle of
Britain was known as exclusive to air battles, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Luftwaffe s attacks were one hundred percent focused on their military supplies, but it all changed
when the Royal Air Force launched a retaliatory attack on Berlin, Germany. This retaliatory attack
angered Hitler to the point that he dropped the progress made on the British air bases and changed his
targets of attack to the British cities. These bombings on the British cities later became known as the
London blitz(http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/blitz.htm) and the biggest city by far that was
targeted was London herself. As the weeks went on, London sustained more and more bombings, of
course, the citizens of the British cities suffered tremendously, being quite powerless. Though this
kept taking its toll on Great Britain s citizens the Royal Air Force had the tension of the attacks on
their bases relieved and began its recovery. The Royal Air Force had time to repair the airfields that
were out of commission and severely damaged. With these repairs completed on the air bases, the
Royal Air Force was more than ready for the next German attack. The attack fleet came soon enough
and they came with around one hundred and twenty planes. The biggest attack in the Battle of Britain
so far. The Germans obviously wanted the city of London in ruins with an attack force like that, and if
they did take out the rest of london that would surely

The Iliad s Ending Essay
Homer s Iliad is commonly understood as an epic about the Trojan War, but its meaning goes deeper
than that. The Iliad is not only a story of the evolution of Achilleus persona, but at times it is an anti
war epic as well. The final book proposes many questions to the reader. Why not end with the killing
of Hektor? Most stories of war conclude with the triumphant victory of good over evil, but in the Iliad,
the final thoughts are inclined to the mourning of the defeated Hektor, which accentuates the fact that
good has not triumphed over evil, but simply Achilleus triumphed over Hektor. Ending with the
mourning of Hektor also brings to center stage for the first time the human side of war and the harsh
aftermath of it. We see that war ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pain is exemplified even further with the speech of Andromache, wife of Hektor. With this we see
for one of the first times the importance of family to the Trojans. Andromache s suffering is extreme
and harsh. When she says, But for me passing all others is left the bitterness and the pain, it shows the
importance of the husband to the wife. This speech is very pivotal in depicting the bleak future for the
widows whose husbands left them behind to die in search of honor. Now that the husbands are dead,
the once noble wives and children must go work as slaves, once their city is sacked. Andromache and
Astyanax are doomed to lead a wretched life, because their protector is dead. Such is the nature of
war. Were Homer to end with the killing of Hektor and Achilleus triumph, the melancholy aftermath
would be totally neglected. Another effect of Homer s final book of the Iliad is it affirms the thought
that neither Achilleus nor Hektor are the bad guy, but both are worthy of glory and praise. A fair
generalization about heroic stories is that the good guy always win. It is cliché, and very common, but
it is a fact. The Iliad goes beyond this commonplace, by pitting two forces against each other, none of
which can be characterized as the good guy or the bad guy. While the entire poem is about the glory of
Achilleus and his god like superiority to all men, Hektor needs some

By recording this information they can gain access to a user s personal information. There are many
types of spyware, so it is wise to have a suite that is bundled into one package. For instance, there was
a bug in the operating system of iPhones and iPads that hackers could exploit. Advertisements that
keep appearing on apps are called adware. They can be annoying because they keep popping up and
can use up your iPad s memory. These types of advertisement can be use to spy on iPad user s internet
activities. If anti spyware software found a program on your mobile device, it would tell the user to
remove the spyware from his or her device using the software. The third part of my internet security
suite is the firewall. This is the software or hardware that protects a person s device from hackers gain
access to his or her iPad without permission. It asks the user for permission before it allows a program
to gain access to your iPad. This software makes it harder for hackers to gain control of your mobile
device. For example, Zone alarm is a popular firewall that controls what comes in and out on a
network a computer. Security protection is needed for mobile devices on the internet. A firewall also
lets a person know about suspicious programs that are trying to access into his or her mobile devices

Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, is a bacterium that is resistant to many
available high level beta lactam antibiotics, which include penicillins, antistaphylococcal penicillins
and cephalosporins. Staphyloccoci are the most important bacteria that cause disease in humans.
MRSA is sometimes branded as a nosocomial infection as it usually plagues patients that are receiving
treatment in a hospital. The skin is the most common site of infection, where MRSA can cause
cellulitis, folliculitis, or boils in the skin, but can also commonly be found in the nose, underarm,

Examples Of Realism In The Outcasts
The Outcasts of Poker Flat , by Bret Harte and Miniver Cheevy , by Edgar Arlington Robinson are
great examples of realism. Realism is often uses grim depictions of reality and draws portraits from
real life. A common thing that readers see in realism is that outside forces are always at odds with the
main characters. In these writings, the reader will see how realism and naturalism is portrayed in The
Outcasts of Poker Flat and Miniver Cheevy .
Realism is used in The Outcasts of Poker Flat in many ways. Local Color is used to show that the
people in the town were there in search of gold. Harte reveals to the reader the conflict between the
outcasts and society. Poker Flat was having a moral decline and a secret committee had been

The poem is about a boy who has had a pretty rough life. The reader can see this when the narrator
refers to Cheevy as a child of scorn. This meant that the people in the community and Cheevy s own
parents did not accept him. The narrator also says that, He wept that he was ever born (Robinson l. 3).
The theme of the poem is reality vs. dreams. The reader sees this when the narrator says that Miniver
loved the time When swords were bright and steeds were prancing (l. 3). The narrator also says that he
dreamed of Thebes and Camelot, / And Priam s neighbors (ll. 11 12). He also says that, Miniver loved
the Medici and that He would have sinned incessantly / Could he have been one (ll. 17, 19 20). At the

are simply thankful for the earth, and you will likely not disrespect it. The point of my essay is to
show you that I m thankful for my grandparents, music, and money. Grandparents are very important
people in one s life because of the many whimsical things that they do for us. My grandparents are
always there to make me feel better. My amazing grandparents make me feel better with their warm,
welcoming lives, and love when I m down. To me, they are the nicest people on the entire surface of
this planet. Since supply me with what I need, and even more, I am able to do fun things with or
without them. Also, they are very caring towards me and the rest of my family. Additionally, they give
me gifts, and good ones too, school, and occasionally help me do life. Besides, they essentially supply
me with everything I need for the real world, but my parents do that as well. One of my favorite
qualities of my grandparents is that they give us amazing trips around the world. Doing these trips
with them is one of the most fun things you can possibly do. They give us the trips to

Jeremy Bentham s Argument Against Capital Punishment
America is within the top four countries for the number of executions due to the death penalty since
1999. Citing the, Amnesty International in For What Tomorrow (2004), more than 1,800 people were
executed in 31 countries, the vast majority of these in China (1076), Iran (165), Saudi Arabia (103),
and then the United States (98) (NAAS, 43). The death penalty is currently an intense debate
involving the idea of whether or not we as people should be able to sentence another person to death.
According to the ethical and moral reasoning of the philosophers Jeremy Bentham, Peter Singer, and
Hugo Bedau, the death penalty should not be a legal punishment.
Jeremy Bentham lived from 1748 1832 and during his lifetime addressed the death penalty ... Show

Following these rules maintains the balance between the severity of the punishment and the maximum
positive effects the punishment has. However, it would be extremely difficult to apply these rules to
today, because of the many different crimes and circumstances.
Bentham was very against the death penalty and his proposed alternative to the popular punishment at
the time was life in prison with hard labor and even occasionally solitary confinement. When given
the choice between the death penalty and the life imprisonment of which Bentham spoke, he believed
that as a Utilitarian he must choose the life imprisonment. Bentham believed that the threat of living in
prison for life was greater than the thought of death. This is it was a long, drawn out, torturous
process. This would compare to the quick death they would receive if they got the death penalty.
There are five major points that he makes against the death penalty using his utilitarian theory. The
first point he makes is that the death penalty is not profitable. By this Bentham means a dead person
can do nothing to repair the damage done by their crimes, whether this repair means helping the
victim or helping the society in which the crime was committed. A point included within modern times
would be a reference to the cost of the death penalty vs. life imprisonment. Today, it would actually be
much cheaper to

Example Of Nonviolent Resistance
Nonviolence resistance has been used to achieve many goals in the past, whether it is a political goal,
a social goal, or an economic goal. According to Clausewitz, war is the continuation of politics by
other means, and the reason why nonviolence resistance can be considered a type of warfare is
because the goal is to get what they desired. A well known example of this was the Civil Right s
Movement, whose goal was to end segregation and discrimination against African Americans. This
movement encompassed three broad categories created by Gene Sharp: nonviolent protests and
persuasion, noncooperation (economic and political), and nonviolent intervention. A few groups that
were involved in this movement and that displayed these categories were the National Association for
the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Southern Christian Leadership Conference
(SCLC), and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Despite being nonviolent
called nonviolent, though, there are some occasions where violence is present. However, because it is
called a nonviolent resistance it can be confusing for others to even consider this as a type of warfare.
The NAACP, SCLC, and the SNCC all displayed nonviolent protests and persuasion. The NAACP
however was more focused on legal strategies and actions, such as going through court cases and
creating lawsuits to confront the civil rights issues that African Americans were faced with during that
time. They used legal action instead

Essay On How Computer Has Changed Business
Business existed in the world since human beings were born. Back to Paleolithic Age, our ancestors
were doing business by trading goods with each other and we call this Barter . They traded goods
whatever they needed. They could use food trade with furniture or they could use tools trade with
clothes. But then the problems were coming, sometimes, our ancestors found that the prices of goods
were not always consistent, and it was very inconvenient to carry heavy goods around. Therefore,
people decided to use rare metals (such as bronze, silver and gold) as currencies. Later, coins were
introduced as money around 700 B.C . The first paper currency in record appeared in early China
around 806AD and we call that JiaoZi . The paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, nothing could stop Charles s unswervingly spirit at that time, in 1837, he proposed the first
general mechanical computer, the Analytical Engine. The Analytical Engine contained an Arithmetic
Logic Unit (ALU), basic flow control, punch cards (inspired by the Jacquard Loom), and integrated
memory. It was the first general purpose computer concept. Then in 1936, the Turing Machine was
invented by Alan Turing, it was a machine that printed symbols on paper tape in a manner that
emulated a person following a series of logical instructions. The theory of Turing Machine laid the
foundation about computing and computers. Since there, the computer industry s development started
an explosive growth. In 1943, J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly began constructing the first
functional and digital computer called ENIAC until 1946 when the computer was complete. The
appearance of ENIAC marked the beginning of a new era in not only computer s history but also in
human s history. The theories and ideas in ENIAC promoted the Third Revolution. In fact, I believe
the Third Revolution started from here. The world was no longer the same as before, it changed by
those great and intelligent scientists, and I call it the G World .
b) Chapter 2 If computer s appearance represents the beginning of the Third Revolution, then the
Internet must be the fuse. Today s internet is more like a media which connects all the computer

Pros And Cons Of Standing Rock Indian Reservation
The largest Indian reservation in the United States is that of the Navajo Nation. It stretches around a
total of 27,096 square miles. (Biggest Indian Reservations In The United States) The United states is a
total of 3,718,710 square miles. (Geography Statistics Of United States Of America) The Navajo

American, that really pales in comparison. This shows how much land that the Native Americans are
able to live on. The population of Navajo Nation is 300,500 residents. That gives residents less than
one square mile a person. Standing Rock Indian reservation has been around for 148 years, only
ninety four years after America was founded. The Standing Rock Indian reservation should not be in

Standing Rock and Native Americans alike are coming together to protest the build of the pipeline.
This issue is important because it is showing how prominent companies and corporate businesses can
achieve what they want and treat a group of people terribly. The Native Americans have gone through
many tough time throughout history. From the time that this land was called American and the United
States the Indians have given up and sacrificed acre after acre. Their land has been ripped from their
hands and destroyed. Where a piece of sacred land once used to lay there is now a mall or McDonalds
sitting on it. History is disappearing, being erased from this earth because people are selfish and want
greed. They just have to have a underground pipeline, instead of putting it on a train. No, this is not
how the Native Americans or their sacred land or main water sources should be treated. Their land
needs to be treated with respect just as the people should

The Leader I Will Position This Paper On Is Warren Buffet
The leader I will position this paper on is Warren Buffet. A well known person in the business world
as well as known the past years for his philanthropy, in partnership with Bill Gates has donated a large
proportion of their income and investments to a foundation that fights poverty and several other causes
that trouble this planet. I I first became actively interested in Warren Buffett in 2009 as a sophomore in
college, then studying for management methods and great leaders. Since then I have been looking
through the new and track down this man s incredible career.
With a course in business since he was eleven years old, Buffet went from a pin ball machine owner in
his teen year to a billionaire. He was described by his friends and family as a mathematical prodigy;
Buffet completed his studies at the University of Nebraska and acquired his master s degree from
Columbia Business School under Benjamin Graham, which eventually became his mentor and
employer. Various investments and entrepreneurship s put Buffet today in the pantheon of living
business legends, with the most significant the acquire of Berkshire Hathaway a textile business that
was turned into a billion dollar organization. In addition, he owns a large percentage in Coca Cola,
which he served as a CEO for a few years, but also subsidiaries that the past decade have skyrocketed
to the Fortune 500, such as Geiko, Heinz, Washington Post and Exxon. The press and his coworkers

The Soviet Union and Sputnik
On October 4th, 1957 the Soviet Union launched a metal sphere, called Sputnik, that intermittently
transmitted a radio signal, into orbit. This event does not seem very impressive now, but when it
happened it had a massive political and psychological effect. It spawned the idea that the United States
might be eclipsed by another world power in technological might and proved that the Soviet Union
could make a missile that could reach the United States. As part of a broad response to this event the
United States government created the Advanced Research Projects Agency, ARPA for short, which is
now known as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency or DARPA. The mission of this new
agency was to foster advanced technologies and systems that create revolutionary advantages for the
U.S. military (Van Atta 20). Much of this advanced technology eventually made its way to the civilian
market. Without Sputnik, technology that most people living in modern countries take for granted,
such as the Global Positioning System, the Internet, and modern computer operating systems, would,
possibly, not exist yet. The development of the Global Positioning System, GPS for short, was
accelerated by Sputnik in more than one way. When Sputnik launched, Guier and Wieffenback were
able to measure the doppler shift in the signal that was broadcast from Sputnik and successfully
estimate the location of Sputnik. After telling their Laboratory s Director about their discovery they
were granted

The Smallpox Virus
Smallpox is one of the most lethal virus known to man. It is devastating to individual systems, and it s
high level of contagion makes it a major threat to populations, as seen historically, before mass
vaccination was available. For many years before an understanding about the virus was developed,
thousands suffered and died from it, with no relief except perhaps that of a comforting nurse. As
scientific inquiry advanced, so did the approach to dealing with the virus, beginning with its primitive
inoculation, to it s eradication from the natural environment. In recent years, the study of the virus has
lead to harnessing it in the laboratory with the constant threat of biological warfare. The virus now

significantly. However, it became evident that those people living in wealthy countries and households
had greater access to the smallpox vaccine as many of the reported cases were located in rural, low

is, Europe and North America, shows that life expectancy has increased in England, France and the
United States by as much as thirty years since the year 1900 (Fogel, 2004). Furthermore, the last
recorded case of smallpox occurred in Somalia in 1977 and the last recorded case in the United States

Seminole Clothing In South Florida
The intent of this paper is to illustrate the significance of Seminole clothing and social practices in
South Florida by concentrating on the different patterns for both men and women and celebrations
they used. Using an ethnographic approach and perspective based on the facts displayed at the History
of Miami Museum I can further go into detail about the meaning of the clothing and social practices.
The Seminoles prospered in Florida between the years of 1816 1818 and created a less formal society
than the creeks. Both the Seminoles and the Creeks had very similar clothing, social and political
practices. William Bartram, visited the Seminoles, stated they enjoy a super abundance of the

Another way was by the pelts and hides from hunting trips. Men s clothing included shirts that fell to
the knees, sleeves were buttoned at the wrist and several handkerchiefs were tied around the neck. A
pouch that hung from the belted waist, leggings and moccasins were also part of the men s clothing
but were normally worn when visiting the white settlements. The women s clothing consisted of long
sleeved pull over blouses and full skirts gathered at the waist. Before the 20 s patchwork appeared in
the style of checkerboard or sawtooth designs. By the early 1920 s Seminole clothing was made up of
horizontal stripes and patchwork designs. By the 50 s the diagonal designs were illustrated by small
bars of color crammed with larger bars. James Henshall described the Seminole turban as some two
feet in diameter and six inches thick or high, with a hole in the venter to fit the head. It formed of
bright colored shawls, the outside layer being sometimes a bright red cotton or bandana handkerchief;
its shape is exactly that of a flat cheese or grindstone. Just as clothing plays a certain role in society so

shift their energy to the United States, where the mag strip infrastructure is easier to circumvent. The
U.S. as a country is open to attack. The fraud people always move toward the weakest point, Khan

life style expectation of the cardholders. They are fast, convenient, secure and to put it in one word
cool. Research demonstrated how much the speed of transaction and the convenience of tapping are
seen as direct advantages both by the cardholder and by the merchant. I have always been surprised to
see the concern some card issuers have about the security of contactless payments. It is amazing to see
how much cardholders appreciate the security of their contactless cards. Not only

  • 2. The Health And Safety Code Section 85.007 Education Program Ashley St. Clair English 1302 Professor Beverage 31 October 2014 Sexuality A 2011 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) survey indicates that more than 47 percent of all high school students say they have had sex; and 15 percent of high school students have had sex with four or more partners during their lifetime, (NCSL). In our society today sex is a very open subject and is being observed by young adults in everyday life. Walking down the street we see half naked women plastered on billboards and street signs, leaving nothing to the imagination and making adolescents everywhere question why and wonder what that is. As children we are taught that abstinence before marriage is the right way to live, and engaging in such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From experience, at the age of ten I was taught by my mother that I should never engage in sex unless I was married and ready to procreate. At the age of twelve I was sexually active. By the age of fifteen I was pregnant with my first son and becoming a single mother at a very early age. When you are young and curious and want to know why something is a certain way, you look for answers and research as much as you can to get a full idea about what something is. So when children are taught that sex is bad without given any background information to why or what it is, they tend to look deeper and start to engage in the activities to test the water and see if what they are taught is true. Rebellion is a very common among children and teenagers, and to be forced into believing that something is bad and harmful for you, just to find out the truth about sex, will eventually cause a stir and up rise of many young adults. More teens are learning sex from the media or from their friends instead of from their parents or a sexual education class taught in schools. Nearly three fourths of television shows contains talk about sex or show sexual behavior, (King and Regan 2). When we drive down the road we see several stores promoting sex such as Condoms to Go, Condom Sense, Sarahs Secret, and New Fine Arts. Amanda s Cognitive Abilities And Cognitive Processing Skills Amanda s cognitive abilities were assessed through the use of the WPPSI IV in addition to supplemental subtests from the WJ IV COG and KABC II. On the WPPSI IV, subtests that measure different cognitive processing abilities combine to form five index scores: Verbal Comprehension, Fluid Reasoning, Working Memory, Visual Spatial Processing and Processing Speed which all together make up the Full Scale IQ score (FSIQ). On the WPPSI IV, Amanda earned an FSIQ score of 97, which ranks her overall ability at the 42nd percentile and falls within the Average range. It should be noted that all of the subtests required Amanda to listen to a question, and then respond verbally with an answer. The first subtest administered assessed Amanda s verbal reasoning and concept formation abilities. Specifically, Amanda was verbally presented with two words and she had to tell the examiner how they were alike or similar. On this measure she scored in the Average range (Similarities, scaled score = 9). On the second subtest administered, Amanda was asked general knowledge questions, which she had to answer verbally (e.g. how many months are in a year). Amanda scored within the Average range on this subtest (Information: scaled score =9). On the last subtest, Amanda was presented with a word and was asked to verbally provide a definition. She scored within the Below Average range (Vocabulary, scaled score = 6) on this task to derive the word meanings. As the task items increased with difficulty, Amanda responded with I don t know. Amanda obtained a Verbal Comprehension score of 93, which is ranked at the 32nd percentile and is classified in the Average range. • 4. Social Inquiry And A Natural Human Activity Human beings seek a general understanding of their environment or the world around them. This is what is known as inquiry and it is a natural human activity. People recognize that present circumstances usually affect the future and as such, they need to make decisions regarding their present situation to have a better future compared to the present circumstance. Such needs push them to inquire about both the present and the future situations to develop and give them a better chance of having a comfortable life. Through social inquiry, people ask questions, they gather the information and examine the background to most of the important societal events and ideas (Pollner, 2010). There exist differences and similarities between social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Social inquiry is a systematically way of thinking. It is a way that the mind revels if a circumstance or situation is true or false even when other things point to the same outcome. Social inquiry is where the situations are broken down and looking at it to determine why such occurrences happened or took place. Assumptions is what we humans do on a daily basis, not following it up or trying to understand the circumstance behind it (Greene, 2007). Everyday assumptions are made mainly because we as individuals have been brought up to believe that situation or circumstance to be true. Most of the situations are what human beings have been brought up understanding it that way. Everyday assumptions are made from what human beings learn on a daily basis. They are based on who people interact with such as environment. As such, the difference in regard to social inquiry arises. Where everyday assumption depends on what human beings learn and their interaction to different phenomena, social inquiry tries to understand better through different methods of research. Another difference between the two is the people understand. Everyday assumption changes over time. In a certain period, the assumption may mean something, however, in another period it changes meaning to mean a totally different thing. Social inquiry however rests its case when a conclusion is reached about the situation or circumstance. The matter can only be revisited if it is felt that the investigation or ... • 5. The Iron-Sulfur-Made Up Hypothesis There are many different ideas of how life began on Earth, and it seems that people can not agree on one. Scientists believe that life must have began as early as 3.8 billion years ago, but they still can t decide on how it started. There are many theories that explain different ways it may have began. The Primordial Soup Hypothesis was presented by The Russian Chemist A.I. Oparin and English Geneticist J.B.S. Haldane. They came up with this idea in 1920. In this theory, they thought that the combination of some chemicals and a source of energy made amino acids, which later evolved into the first life on Earth. They believed that life started in an ocean or pond. In 1950, Stanley Miller and Harold Urey did an experiment to test this hypothesis by mixing gases from Earth and sparking the mixture to represent lightning. The conclusion came to be amino acids. • 6. Personality Survey Paper Personality Survey Rachel Reda Keiser University Personality Survey According to Dennis Coon and John O. Mitterer (2016), psychologists use a large number of concepts and theories to explain personality (p. 384). Traits are qualities that a person consistently exhibits to make up who they are. I took the personality survey on myself. Then I used four raters to compare how I view myself versus how others view my personality. METHODOLOGY To begin my personality survey, I first asked my parents, who live out of state. I sent the list through Facebook messenger and they each replied with the 20 traits they selected. My husband knows how I can be impatient sometimes or pessimistic, but a friend or co worker might not ever know that about me. According to Barbara Engler (2014), psychologists regard personality as a person s unique long term pattern of thinking, emotions, and behavior (Coon Mitterer, 2016, p. 384, Engler 2014). • 7. Battle Of Britain The Battle of Britain was an extremely important piece of history that was almost completely exclusive to air battles between the Royal Air Force and the German Luftwaffe. Luckily for Great Britain, its air defense system was one of the most effective of its time. Luckily for Germany, the Luftwaffe contained numbers that were far superior to Great Britain s, in terms of men and also the amount of planes used in battle and in bombings. The Battle of Britain was also the first big battle to use radar on Great Britain s coast to its full potential. One of the biggest attacks planned by Hitler was the attack on London, which ended up turning the battle in Great Britain s favor. And so the Battle of Britain was known as exclusive to air battles, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Luftwaffe s attacks were one hundred percent focused on their military supplies, but it all changed when the Royal Air Force launched a retaliatory attack on Berlin, Germany. This retaliatory attack angered Hitler to the point that he dropped the progress made on the British air bases and changed his targets of attack to the British cities. These bombings on the British cities later became known as the London blitz(http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/blitz.htm) and the biggest city by far that was targeted was London herself. As the weeks went on, London sustained more and more bombings, of course, the citizens of the British cities suffered tremendously, being quite powerless. Though this kept taking its toll on Great Britain s citizens the Royal Air Force had the tension of the attacks on their bases relieved and began its recovery. The Royal Air Force had time to repair the airfields that were out of commission and severely damaged. With these repairs completed on the air bases, the Royal Air Force was more than ready for the next German attack. The attack fleet came soon enough and they came with around one hundred and twenty planes. The biggest attack in the Battle of Britain so far. • 8. The Iliad s Ending Essay Homer s Iliad is commonly understood as an epic about the Trojan War, but its meaning goes deeper than that. The Iliad is not only a story of the evolution of Achilleus persona, but at times it is an anti war epic as well. The final book proposes many questions to the reader. Why not end with the killing of Hektor? Most stories of war conclude with the triumphant victory of good over evil, but in the Iliad, the final thoughts are inclined to the mourning of the defeated Hektor, which accentuates the fact that good has not triumphed over evil, but simply Achilleus triumphed over Hektor. Ending with the mourning of Hektor also brings to center stage for the first time the human side of war and the harsh aftermath of it. We see that war ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pain is exemplified even further with the speech of Andromache, wife of Hektor. With this we see for one of the first times the importance of family to the Trojans. Andromache s suffering is extreme and harsh. When she says, But for me passing all others is left the bitterness and the pain, it shows the importance of the husband to the wife. This speech is very pivotal in depicting the bleak future for the widows whose husbands left them behind to die in search of honor. Now that the husbands are dead, the once noble wives and children must go work as slaves, once their city is sacked. Andromache and Astyanax are doomed to lead a wretched life, because their protector is dead. Such is the nature of war. Were Homer to end with the killing of Hektor and Achilleus triumph, the melancholy aftermath would be totally neglected. Another effect of Homer s final book of the Iliad is it affirms the thought that neither Achilleus nor Hektor are the bad guy, but both are worthy of glory and praise. A fair generalization about heroic stories is that the good guy always win. It is cliché, and very common, but it is a fact. The Iliad goes beyond this commonplace, by pitting two forces against each other, none of which can be characterized as the good guy or the bad guy. While the entire poem is about the glory of Achilleus and his god like superiority to all men, Hektor needs some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of this, Vancomycin is no longer a sure treatment for MRSA due to questions surrounding its effectiveness. Patients that are prescribed antibiotics should never stop taking their antibiotics, even if they are starting to feel better. Citing the, Amnesty International in For What Tomorrow (2004), more than 1,800 people were executed in 31 countries, the vast majority of these in China (1076), Iran (165), Saudi Arabia (103), and then the United States (98) (NAAS, 43). The death penalty is currently an intense debate involving the idea of whether or not we as people should be able to sentence another person to death. According to the ethical and moral reasoning of the philosophers Jeremy Bentham, Peter Singer, and Hugo Bedau, the death penalty should not be a legal punishment. Following these rules maintains the balance between the severity of the punishment and the maximum positive effects the punishment has. However, it would be extremely difficult to apply these rules to today, because of the many different crimes and circumstances. Bentham was very against the death penalty and his proposed alternative to the popular punishment at the time was life in prison with hard labor and even occasionally solitary confinement. When given the choice between the death penalty and the life imprisonment of which Bentham spoke, he believed that as a Utilitarian he must choose the life imprisonment. Bentham believed that the threat of living in prison for life was greater than the thought of death. This is it was a long, drawn out, torturous process. This would compare to the quick death they would receive if they got the death penalty. There are five major points that he makes against the death penalty using his utilitarian theory. The first point he makes is that the death penalty is not profitable. By this Bentham means a dead person can do nothing to repair the damage done by their crimes, whether this repair means helping the victim or helping the society in which the crime was committed. A point included within modern times would be a reference to the cost of the death penalty vs. life imprisonment. Today, it would actually be much cheaper to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Example Of Nonviolent Resistance Nonviolence resistance has been used to achieve many goals in the past, whether it is a political goal, a social goal, or an economic goal. According to Clausewitz, war is the continuation of politics by other means, and the reason why nonviolence resistance can be considered a type of warfare is because the goal is to get what they desired. A well known example of this was the Civil Right s Movement, whose goal was to end segregation and discrimination against African Americans. This movement encompassed three broad categories created by Gene Sharp: nonviolent protests and persuasion, noncooperation (economic and political), and nonviolent intervention. A few groups that were involved in this movement and that displayed these categories were the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Despite being nonviolent called nonviolent, though, there are some occasions where violence is present. However, because it is called a nonviolent resistance it can be confusing for others to even consider this as a type of warfare. The NAACP, SCLC, and the SNCC all displayed nonviolent protests and persuasion. The NAACP however was more focused on legal strategies and actions, such as going through court cases and creating lawsuits to confront the civil rights issues that African Americans were faced with during that time. They used legal action instead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This event does not seem very impressive now, but when it happened it had a massive political and psychological effect. It spawned the idea that the United States might be eclipsed by another world power in technological might and proved that the Soviet Union could make a missile that could reach the United States. As part of a broad response to this event the United States government created the Advanced Research Projects Agency, ARPA for short, which is now known as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency or DARPA. The mission of this new agency was to foster advanced technologies and systems that create revolutionary advantages for the U.S. military (Van Atta 20).
