Lgbtq Persuasive Essay
The current context of LGBTQ+ and women s rights such as abortion with the recent election of
President Trump was the inspiration for my research. I feel it is important for everyone to know when
there has potentially been a violation of right s, no matter the side one person and one vote can make a
difference in so many lives. My mind has always been overcome with questions that relate to religion
and the role it plays in politics. I have found through personal experience that religion plays in integral
part in the political decision making of many individuals. These questions led me to formulate a
formal question to give direction to my research. This question is, How has Christianity impacted the

Poetry And Science Poem Analysis
Forest Thomson advises this approach to a poem falsifies our experience of poems , we are seeing
only a singular layer in which the reader is coercing a specific meaning that is easily digestible and
relatable. Rather than engaging in such false readings, or bad naturalisation Forest Thomson demands
a closer inspection of the genetic structure of a poem. To give each base element, or section of the
sequence, the time and emphasis needed to understand and negotiate the importance these elements
have on the poem as a whole. In this manner, it can be seen that her theory of poetry borrows from a
biologist s mind set on the necessity to understand the smaller sub systems, so as to be able to view
and retain an understanding of the wider. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He advocates that hoped to influence in some small measure a paradigm shift within the
methodologies of the sciences. This rather determined position is highlighted in his postmodernist
leanings, which are most poignantly shown in his belief that absolute truth is nothing but absolute
conformism. Whilst throughout Against Method he argues for an epistemological anarchism that
works contrary to the notion of co option, his demanding of a more expansive methodology that does
not self limit does align.
Feyerabend can be seen in some ways as the antithesis of Wilson s later Consilience. While Wilson
argues for a unification of the separate fields of knowledge under a monistic concept of truth and
knowledge, Feyerabend consistently demands the opposite. That knowledge is obtained from a
multiplicity of views rather than from the determined application [of] a preferred ideology the
prevailing western scientific method. It is this pluralism of theories that Feyeraband maintains is
essential to both scientific progress and epistemological questioning. He also through this
determination that multiplicative views and ideas are required leads to a requirement of interexchange
between other fields of understanding. Just as poet and critic Forest Thomson also consistently
expresses as necessary in her published works. As Feyeraband advises it is this need to step outside
the circle and either to invent a new conceptual system...or to import such

The Pros And Cons Of Negligence
Introduction.
Negligence is a central topic in the vast area of Law Tort. It is largely due to Negligence being by far
most practiced by Tort lawyers with huge number of litigations each year. As per Sir Percy Henry
Winfield:
Negligence is the breach of a legal duty to take care which results in damage, undesired by the
Defendant to the Claimant.
In other words, it is a failure to exercise that degree of care, when law requires for the purpose of
protection of individuals, their properties and their financial interests. A duty of care is a legal
obligation to safeguard individuals who can be considered your neighbours from harm: (in your care,
your children, students, employees, etc.). For there to be a successful claim for negligence, ... Show

Mr. Stovin, the Claimant, was knocked off his motorcycle by Mrs. Wise s car, the Defendant, and
became injured. The Defendant claimed that the accident occurred because visibility of traffic on the
junction was obstructed by a bank of earth with a fence. Thus, she claimed that Norfolk County
Council (NCC) failed to maintain the junction in safe to use order, and therefore were liable. In the
court of first instance the judge agreed that NCC owed a duty of care to the Claimant and were 30%
liable to compensate Mr. Stovin. Mrs. Wise was 70% responsible for compensation to the Defendant.
But on appeal to the House of Lords the Defendant NCC were found not liable. Held: the Council
were not liable on the basis of pure omission. In a space of twelve years there had only been three
accidents which was not enough to render that the junction was dangerous. The minimum threshold
for junction to be considered dangerous would need to have five accidents in a space of three

Charles De Gaulle
Following World War II, it was quite clear that France was in need of political assistance. After the
French defeat, the occupation of Nazis forced the government to either ally with the enemy, or to be
destroyed from the inside out. The government, run by Pétain, decided to ally with the Nazi invaders,
which established what is known as the Vichy government. Seeing as this was the official government
of France at the time, any Frenchmen who were to speak out against the government were to be seen
as heretical, and even charged with treason, under the dictatorial Hitler regime. Luckily for the people
of France, there was such a man who decided to fight for a free France. Charles de Gaulle is the
reason that France, following a complete overthrow by a dictatorial world power, once again became
one of the most powerful and prestigious countries in the entire world. De Gaulle wanted, and pushed
for, France to become a strong empire, a rebuild of the national economy, a reconstruction of the
broken nation, and to establish a stronger executive power in the government. ... Show more content

Amongst these varying opinions, there is one strong argument that can be made by nearly all
historians: Charles de Gaulle has the legacy of being the single most polarizing individual in French
history. While there were large amounts of people who believed in him, and saw him as the savior of
the country, there were others who saw him as an attempt at a dictator. Most authors agree that the
military principals that he put forward were largely important in the outcome of the blitzkrieg of the
Germans, and that overall as a military figure he was more than exceptional. However, as a president,
political figure, and diplomat, he is not praised so

Fed Ex and Ups, Air Express Industry Analysis
FED EX and UPS
Airfreight Industry Analysis
1. During the 1980s, the air express industry was a medium to attractive industry to already be a major
player in, but not a very attractive industry to try and break into. The industry can be characterized by
high rivalry from competitors who compete on the same services with very little differentiation,
medium power from suppliers who supply the resources necessary to run the business, high buyer
power because customers can basically find an equal service from any firm in the industry, low
substitution threat from other means of shipping transportation, and low threat of new entrants due to
the high initial capital outlay and need of management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, threat of substitutes is low because air express still dominated the shipping scene and electronic
transmission was not yet perfected. Threat of entry is low because it requires large capital investments
for a firm to startup and thus it can impede the entry of new firms into the industry. Lastly, it would be
hard to break into the industry because the other firms already have economies to scale, are further
along learning curve, and may have certain airspace leases that blocks out the new company from
potential routes.
Therefore this industry is a pretty good one to already be in, but would be very tough to try and break
into. Since established firms do not have to worry about threat of entrants or substitution, they can
focus on making their core business practices cost efficient and profitable. Although firms have to deal
with high buyer and supplier power, every firm has to deal with these issues. Therefore this leaves
only rivalry to compete on, which forces firms to stay sharp, observe the competition, and provide
excellent service to the firm s customers to generate profit. Industry competition intensified from 1988
to 1989 because there was a significant slowdown of the growth rate of the air express industry due to
increasing geographic saturation, the acceptance of electronic transmission, and rapid consolidation of

Home Depot Economic Indicators Essay
Home Depot Economic Indicators
Two of the economic indicators, housing starts and interest rates have a trickle down effect on Home
Depot s business. The current outlook for both of these indicators is still , unfortunately, bleak. We are
firm believers in Edward Learner s thesis that Housing is the Business Cycle . It is still considered the
source through which we view the economic cycle. According to a survey by PAA Research, the
housing market colors every investment idea evaluated and consistently provides the prism to
strategically forecast our economic indicators.
The significance of the housing market and it s importance to this economy cannot be overstated.

If we look at Home Depot s business segments and the statistics on new home sales, we can see where
the challenge is. According to the Commerce Department, sales of new homes grew by 6.6% in the
month, setting the annual pace for 2010 to 307,000 total units sold. Although, there was an increase in
September, this annual pace is the worst on new home sales since 1963, even when mortgage rates are
at an all time low. This signifies why there would be disappointment from Home Depot. It is quite
obvious that they will continue to struggle, at least through the 4th quarter of this year due to an
industry dependent upon a strong real estate market.
However, there is an upside. Most of us would think that the U.S. housing market is devoid of positive
trends, which according to the National Association of Realtors, is not the case.
The feedback from a national survey shows:
Realtors are generally optimistic about the prospects over the next 6 months. 42% of Realtors expect
improvement, while 30% expect it to remain the same. New home sales and inventory have reached
trough levels and can only go higher from there. This implies that residential construction will
transition from a drag on GDP growth to a modest benefit for the foreseeable future. The housing tax
credit worked. Based on the sales data, a number of buyers took advantage of the credit. When real
estate assets are in the hands of new buyers, it should be viewed

Impact Of British Colonization On Native American Culture
Closely followed by Columbus discovery of the New World in 1492 were the establishments of
European colonies with the French primarily in the north and down the Mississippi, and with the
British along the east coast. As a result, the Native Americans lives changed drastically. Before 1750,
in terms of economically, French responded mutually in terms of economy, culturally befriended them
and in terms of religion, responded benignly by encouraging Catholicism through missionaries and on

Spanish settlements in Northern America were primarily established for gold and silver for example
they forced slavery on Indians to work in gold and silver mines. Another example stands in Hernando
Cortez, upon conquering the Aztecs, besieged their capital city and stole their gold and other precious
resources. Unlike the English the Spanish were much more willing to integrate cultures like the
French. Intermarriage between Spanish and Native Americans was very common which formed a new
ethnicity which established a cultural peace between Spanish and Natives. However, they still
dominated the Natives to ensure they can fully exploit the natural resources. Some argue that the
Spanish did try to make reforms as Bartolome de Las Casas attempted for a milder policy against
Natives. However, these attempts were futile as no major changes occurred. The devout Catholic
Spaniards were much more aggressive than their counterparts on religious matter. They forced the
Natives to convert using the encomienda system and the missions they set up. Overall, they were not
as bad as the English, but they were not on as great of terms with the Natives as the French

Walt Disney created an entire world of fantasy in which he scattered little boys and little girls heroes
and heroines. His world was built on creativity and dreams. His characters gave every child an escape

the evil queen who truly drives the tale with her jealousy. The queen, who is Snow White s mother,
was given a beautiful daughter whose lips were blood red, whose skin was snow white, and whose
eyes were ebony black, but whose beauty would eventually drive her into a jealous rage. Snow White
s actions begin when the queen tasks a huntsman with killing the seven year old child and returning
with proof of her death. Here Snow White s desire for survival becomes clear. She begs the huntsman
to spare her life, promising to run away and never return. The huntsman allows her to disappear into
the forest and the inner strength of Snow White comes to light. Terrified of being alone, she runs
through the woods for the entire day. Before sunset, she runs across the home of the dwarf s. Knowing
that the little men are still out in the mine, she enters the small, yet neat and tidy, abode. Snow White
only eats and drinks a small amount from each plate setting before falling asleep in one of the small
beds. When the dwarfs return from working in the mines, they notice the minor disturbances in the
house and finally discover the beautiful girl asleep in the last bed. Again, Snow White exhibits quick

Gulf Of Tonkin Resolution Essay
On August 7, 1964, Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which authorized Johnson to take
necessary measures to retaliate and promote the peace and security in Southeast Asia. Congress was
definitely wrong in doing so. The results of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution were too chaotic and too
violent to overlook. By 1964, the US desperate to contain communism had already sent troops to
support South Vietnamese leader, Ngo Dinh Diem. Ngo Dinh Diem couldn t end communist
infiltrations of the South; such infiltrations were otherwise known as the Viet Cong (South Vietnamese
communist guerillas), who made their debut to the South in 1959. Diem did not receive loyalty and his

My Rule Of Life
My Rule of Life is going to help and direct me to where I want to grow spiritually. Like a trellis that
helps guide plants to grow up in the direction it need to go, I want my Rule of Life to the same. With
God s first two questions to humanity, Where are you? and Where is your brother? I answered by
saying that I do not know. Right now, I am at a time where I feel lost and need some guidance. I grew
up in a Catholic household, but I never paid attention during mass. I believed that my background was
going to help me but saying that I am a catholic does not mean the same as being a catholic. Ever
since then I never started to build my spiritual trellis that is going to help me grow and connect with
God. Once I went through some of the spiritual practices, it has helped me understand and look at
things in a different perspective. I began to build my spiritual trellis around margins, non judging,
blessing others, and encouraging others. I have not been doing the practices from my Rule of Life, but
I plan to use these practices hopefully every day for the rest of my life. By doing this I would expect
myself to have grown and reach the gates to the kingdom. The selected spiritual practices margin, non
judging, blessing others, and encouraging others are on my Rule of Life. I chose margin because I
liked the feeling of slowing down and really taking time to look at things I may have missed. As a
college student, many times I feel rushed and need do everything quickly. I

The Exorcist Defines the Horror Genre Essay
The horror genre has held a prominent position in culture for most of history. Beginning in folklore,
used as a device to scare children into good behaviors (e.g. The Grimm Brother s Fairy Tales), horror
has integrated its way into the 21st century through film, and in recent years even video games. Yearly,
primarily during the fall when the leaves start to brown and the natural eerie sense of fear fills the air
around Halloween, the film industry likes to fill in the holes between its major grossing seasons by
filling the audience with fear. However, it was Christmas of 1973 that defined the new age of Horror,
when William Friedkin released The Exorcist. According to Julia Heimerdinger of Academia s online
journal, Horror, as a whole, can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In any genre, the correct note at the exact, pivotal moment can leave a member of the audience in
tears, bliss, or suspense. Contrary to Julia Heimdinger s opinion, however, the lack of non digetic
sound tends to be very important to the horror genre. This is because it allows you to experience the
genuine fear that the protagonist is feeling. You can hear their frantic breath, or the creaking of floor
boards, or even the rustling of leaves. This suspends the audience into a very realistic moment of
suspence and fear. According to Clifford G. Schuette of Kansas State University: when sound is taken
out of the equation, one s attention to detail and focus vastly increases (Schuette 13). Once the
soundtrack is removed and only digetic sound remains, the viewer may become more involved and
invested in the scene. This will ultimately create a more intense emotional reaction when the scene s
suspense and tension culminate into the climatic scare.
Special effects are another very important tool in defining the horror genre. In the years leading up to
the 1970s, special effects were almost non existent, or minimal at best, in the film industry. It wasn t
until The Exorcist was released in 1973 that movie goers were hit with believable special effects that
would have been thought impossible a mere half decade before. As a result of these revolutionary
special effects, The

Sherman s march to the Sea
Title: Sherman s March to the Sea Name: Institution: Name of Facilitator: Course Name and Number:
Date: Abstract This paper describes a campaign that helped decide the American Civil War. A General
of the Union army named William Tecumseh Sherman helped lead a campaign that started in Georgia
go the sea in Savannah, and finish to help aid the main forces in the Carolinas. During this march the
soldiers lived off the land and the Southern people s food and burning anything that could be of
military use to the South s forces. This march helped decisively end the war, and struck many blows to
the South s forces and its people s morale, that Sherman s army could march unopposed through the

Other soldiers gave up sleeping, when it got to cold, to sit in front of roaring fires (Kennett, 1995).
The wind in the area sometimes combined with the rains and the cold air, nearly knocking over the
tents of the soldiers and making them freeze into the night. During Sherman s March to the Sea, he
made a stop at Georgia s then capital, Milledgeville. Sherman arrived in Milledgeville encountering
virtually no resistance from Confederate troops; for they were off defending Macon and Augusta and
various key bridges across rivers and gorges. The Georgia governor had fled the town and took
anything of value from the Executive Mansion, shortly before Sherman arrived. Sherman took note of
the bare house and its slim pickings and slept inside along with some equipment and other soldiers for
the next few days. News of Sherman s capture of Georgia s capital helped break apart the will of the
Confederate soldiers. After Sherman s short rest he continued his march to Savannah where he could
replenish his supplies. Sherman arrived on the outskirts of Savannah on December 11, 1864. The city
was occupied by Confederate troops, and they had the city locked down. To help seize the city
Sherman would have to capture Fort McAllister to be able to safely advance to Savannah. Sherman
sends 4,000 infantry to seize the fort. After a very brief struggle the fort is seized and is in control by
Sherman, and this fort gives him

Fukushima Inductive Argument
In his article, Why Fukushima made me stop worrying and love nuclear power , Monbiot (2012) uses
an inductive form to generate his first key argument to support his main claim that the impact of
nuclear energy on people and the planet is less significant compared to burning fossil fuel. His first
premise is from the Fukushima disaster incident that shows no fatal cases caused by radiation even
though the reactor was ruined. Furthermore, his second premise refers to the 1979 nuclear disaster that
occurred in Pennsylvania, where the radiation exposure within 10 miles is 1/625 of the maximum
yearly amount permitted for U.S. radiation workers, which is 1/80 of the amount which is deadly.
Therefore, he concludes that the death rates caused by radioactive pollution issue are relatively small

whites, so people do not interact with him. For example, he puts a coca cola bottle in a paper bag to
make it look like an alcoholic beverage. The children proceed to ask him why do you do like you do (
268). and Raymond responds with you mean why do I pretend? Well, It s very simple... i try to give
em a reason you see it helps folks if they latch onto a reason (268). Which Raymond is basically
saying he pretends to be drunk so they think it s alcohol influencing his decisions. Why is this brought
up? This point is being brought up because people tend to use this as an escape tactic from a question
that gets brought up constantly and the way to make them stop is to make up a fake reason so they can
hang onto previously stated fake reason.
There is a literal definition in this book and a metaphorical definition of the quote to kill a
mockingbird is a sin ( ). The metaphorical definition goes around the lines of benefiting yourself off of
the weak, examples of this are when people give money to the homeless just to make more money off
of helping the homeless is like killing a mockingbird. Why does this matter? Well it matters because
near the end of the book Scout brings up that making Arthur Boo Radley a hero would be sort of
killing a mockingbird, because he lived most of his adulthood in solitary and if there were people
waiting to see the hero that saved to kids and being a nuisance to them when their not used to it just
because two lives were saved. Well that seems like its a good thing or is it? Well to the population it is
not a big deal but to the small population of maycomb county it is.
One of the main themes of To Kill a Mockingbird one of the blantly obvious main themes is you do

Gender Differences In Soccer
It has been pointed out that females are at higher risk in tearing their ACL than males using an
epidemiological approach Beck et al., (2017) insurance billing data of patients six to eighteen years of
age. The data indicated that over the past 20 years, there has seen an annual increase of 2.3% of ACL
injuries for both males and females up to the age of sixteen (Beck et al., 2017). However, Beck et al.,
(2017) proposed females had a higher injury rate than males.
Males and females contain different concentration of hormones needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
When hormones become un balanced for females the exposure and risk of rupturing their ACL

AT TV Merger
In mid of 2014, a big merger and acquisition news was published in different print and electronic
media was that the AT T Inc. s acquisition of satellite TV provider DirecTV. AT T will pay $48 billion
in cash and $17 billion in debt. This acquisition will make AT T as a unique competitor with un
parallel capabilities in mobile, video and broadband internet services (Anonymous. 2014). AT T will
borrow some money and will issue stocks to perform the deal. The additional cash flow will be used to
cover up the debt. The merger/acquisition is still under process.
1. When the deal has been successfully completed, it is expected to generate synergies in scale and
scope for AT T. AT T will be able to increase its video customers from 5.7 million (U verse only) to 26
million (Rogowsky, M., no date). AT T will also be able to provide wireless combined with u Verse

When two companies offer the similar or compatible products or services in the same market and
combines together under one owner is called horizontal merging (Linton, no date). So, this is a
horizontal merger which will increase the company s cash flow and profit/revenue.
3. Although it is very complicated task to integrate the both companies successfully under one
umbrella. But AT T has previous merger experience which can lead to successful integration of the
companies.
4. I think there will be no market concentration occurred as a result of this merger/acquisition.
Because due to this acquisition the monopoly of the other giant company in this business will be
reduced. This will lead to increase the price competition.

What Are The 3 Most Important Reasons For Study Principles...
What are the 3 most important reasons to study principles of persuasion?
The first reason it is important to study persuasion is to adapt to the technological age. In this age of
technology as stated in Persuasion in Today s World the author examines persuasion and why it is
important that we train ourselves to become responsible receivers of persuasion. (Larson, pg. 5) He
does this by first explaining that the average American is exposed to over 5000 persuasive messages a
day. It is important to train ourselves to be responsible receivers because persuasive messages have
become a grammar of everyday life. These messages are received through a lexicon of different
mediums from television to visual art, and also conversations with children. For example: I have a lot
of nieces and a nephew who watch both Disney and nick Jr. both stations persuade parents with the
idea of learning and they send messages of teaching leading the parents to believe it is ok for the
children to watch. This creates tiny consumers that then ask their parents to buy them things
associated with the shows and characters they watch in the programs. While a lot of these persuasive
messages feed into the ideologies taught to us by other messages we learn from our parents or society.
Larson went on to say: Persuasion is the result of combined efforts of source and receiver. Even in
cases of terrorism and hostage taking, some hostages begin to identify with their captors. (Larson,
Pg.11) While that last

Transgenderity And Transgenderism
In today s society the Christian Church is being strongly criticized because of their stance on
homosexuality and transgenderism. Some Christians have chosen to remain silent on the issue while
others have decided to scream their distaste for homosexuality in the faces of others. Some Christians
have fallen into the trap of false teachings and believe that who you are and who you love is out of
your control, and no one should have to suppress their desires. Regardless, the Word of God is crystal
clear when describing what romantic relationships should look like and how to approach others who
disagree with that. It is most important that Christians know the Word of God so that they can stand up
for the truth.
Morgan Guyton s The Christians United Statement in Support of LGBT Inclusion, presents rather
perplexing theology. To open the article, Guyton condemns the statements made by the members of
the Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood advocating for traditional, heterosexual marriage.
He then goes on to examine, or more accurately agree with, the ideas laid out by the Christians United
organization. One of the main ideas given by the Christians United organization is that all people are
created in the image of God, and that God, as stated in article 1, is not limited to a gender binary, of
male and female (Guyton). While God may or may not be limited to that binary, His creation certainly
is. Genesis 1:27 does state that man is created in the image of God, but it

The Economic Climate Of The Automotive Industry
Given the current economic climate, I think the automotive industry is going to be faced with a
multitude of economic challenges in the next five years. As an oligopoly market, the auto industry is
highly dependent on strategic decision making, and the demand for dynamic innovation and supply at
decreased cost levels. Competition, possibilities of turning substitutes into compliments, and shifts
toward higher demand in services are seemingly leading factors that face the current automotive
industry in the immediate future. But first, we should not ignore the political forces at play within the
market.
With the upcoming Presidential election, there is a very real possibility of big political challenges; as
well as, major changes to international trade policies facing the American Automotive Companies.
Political changes, locally and abroad, are having an effect on the automotive industry. Britain recently
voted to exit the European Union; this event, which is being called Brexit, is having a ripple effect
across the world. The full result of Brexit won t be known for two years or more, but with the
automotive industry having such a large presence in the U.K, an anticipated change is in full effect. In
general, for the next two years, global automakers will need to pay attention to the market; be
prepared for unanticipated changes; and ready for the possible need of contingency plans. This is
especially crucial as negotiations take place between Britain and the EU. Ian

A Man s Character is Significant to the Decisions he Makes...
The character a man holds to be significant in his life conducts the decisions he makes. The epic
Beowulf sets a perfect example of this truth. Beowulf demonstrates him as divine, whom obtains a
strength and hero soul incomparable to any individual. The decisions he had built affected his
potential. These decisions took play in the end of the story. Throughout Beowulf s life he engages in
threats that many individuals cannot even accept. He lives by honor and glory and desires power in
anyone thing he accomplishes. The most abundant respect to Beowulf was to sacrifice his life in a
chivalrous attack. He fought with brutality, unconcerned if he lives or dies. Behavior that is admired is
the path to power among people everywhere (line 25). Admiration of Beowulf s victory has reached
throughout all territories, and the public admired him everywhere. These great successful battles he
has been through won him strong attention, and also made him have plenty of pride, which made him
very confident. Good and evil walk besides every human being. They are two aspects of life argued by
many but implied be several. The epic Beowulf illustrates both sides of these manners. The attempts
Beowulf experienced analyzes his honor and his power to act upon darker forces. Many demons and
monsters interfere with Beowulf, which causes the reader to involve into the battle. Through imagery
and symbolism, Beowulf presents a differentiation between good and evil, showing that good will

Theme Of Disguise In As You Like It
The use of disguise is an old stratagem in literature as well as in life. Achilles lived for a time
undisturbed with his love because he was disguised as a maiden. Apollo in the stress of battle
appeared in the guise of a common soldier and encouraged his favourite hero. Odysseus returned from
his wanderings in the shape of a beggar in order that he might not be recognized at home. (Freeburg 1)
The notion of disguise has been known from the ancient drama, continuing its journey through all
important periods of time. It attained the most exquisite resurrection in the Renaissance England being
used by the erstwhile biggest playwrights.
It has been generally known that Elizabethan drama reached its climax in Shakespeare s work.
Shakespeare himself is the creator of numerous dramatic arts and skills which made typical features of
his work.
Shakespeare too used the concept of disguise in a number of his plays. It is not only used as an escape
from the characters personalities but also it gives birth to serious comic effects. In As You Like it, the
disguise becomes very farcical. Disguise may be perceived in a lot of different ways. In this part the

The Importance of Proper Wine Storage
A. The Importance of Proper Wine Storage
While most of the commodities are consumed within 24 hours from the time of purchase, wines are
often preserved for long term storage and aging. Wine is one of the things that get better with time
when stored and aged properly but it can also spoil and deteriorate rapidly if kept in inappropriate
condition. Proper storage and aging will enhance the wine s flavor, color and quality in general.
In order for us to better understand the concept of preserving and aging of wines, the following critical
elements should be taken into consideration.
1. Light
Wines, especially white wines should not be subjected to excessive amounts of light. Wines should not
be stored under direct sunlight and fluorescent lights with ultraviolet light in the wavelength of 325 to
450 nm. Light may adversely react with the chemical compounds in wine and create potential wine
faults or defects which often leads to the wine having a lightstruck aroma (or gouts de lumiere French
for tastes of light). A wine with a lightstruck aroma is characterized by a decrease in citrus aroma,
while the intensity of unpleasant aroma increased. Wine stored in dark area are mostly to maintain its
clarity and citrus aroma thus, most wines are packed in colored glass and stored in dark cellars.
2. Humidity
Humidity is also a critical element of wine storage to be considered especially if wine cork closures
and stoppers are used. The efficacy of the wine cork depends upon the

Louis Zamperini Character Analysis
Life is not a bed of roses rather it is a bed of thorns. Sometimes it looks like paradise but on the other
hand it seems like a hell. It depends on human beings how they response under different
circumstances. The one human being I believe went through adversities was Louis Zamperini.
Zamperini was a POW in Japan. He went through various struggles such as being stranded in the
ocean, being tortured in a death camp, starvation; he even used his last bit of strength to save his
friends. Louis Zamperini was a man of many traits but the three that stick out to me are having
forgiveness, being a leader, and being an inspiration to many.
The definition of forgive is to stop feeling angry or resentful toward (someone) for an offense, flaw, or
mistake. Louis, in the movie, showed great examples of forgiveness to the people who brutally
tortured him. After being tortured in a Japanese death camp, Louis became determined to forgive all of
his captors. In 1950, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the course of employment, the employer becomes aware or should have become aware of problems
with an employee that indicated his unfitness, and the employer fails to take further action such as

The Case Of The Lawsuit
The Complaint Should Be Dismissed Because the Statute of Limitations Has Ran
Shahmaleki s complaint is futile because the statute limitation has run on the civil rights claims. 42
U.S.C. § 1982 does not include its own statutes of limitations. Instead, courts borrow limitation
periods from state law. Courts adopt the most analogous limitations period. In Kansas, the analogous
action for § 1983 is injury to the rights of another. That means under Kansas law, the statutes of
limitations for claims arising out of § 1983 is two years. Here, the statutes of limitations period has
passed. The claim set out by Shahmaleki arose on May 1, 2013. As two years have passed since the
claim arose, the statute of limitations has run and this Court should dismiss Shahmaleki s complaint.
The amended complaint also does not relate back to the original complaint. An amendment to change
or add a party must meet the requirements listed under 15(c) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
for it relate back. These requirements are 1) the amended claim must arise out of the conduct,
transaction, or occurrence set out in the original pleading, 2) sufficient notice must be provided to the
new parties, and 3) the new defendants must have known or should have known that the action would
be brought against them, but for a mistake concerning the proper party s identity. In this case, the
Defendants do not dispute the first two requirements, but Shahmaleki has not shown his amended

Why The French Revolutionaries View The Months Of The...
In 1793, the National Convention in Paris created a new calendar for the French republic. The new
calendar renamed the months of the Gregorian calendar and rearranged them so that each month
contained three weeks of ten days each; at the end of each year there were five days of festivals
dedicated to virtue, intelligence, labor, opinion, and rewards. This calendar was kept in place until
1806 when it was abolished by Napoleon. The National Convention and other republican groups cited
many reasons for the adoption of a new calendar, including ridding the republic of the old regime and
implementing a more reasonable system. Although the revolutionaries viewed the calendar as an
improvement, others were quick to point out its flaws. Among the

Edwin Hardin Sutherland s Theory Of Differential...
Edwin Hardin Sutherland, an American criminologist, developed the theory of differential association
in 1947. He created this theory to attempt to explain why crime was determined by various factors
such as age, race, broken homes, urban or rural areas, mental disorder, and social class (Sutherland
136). His findings led him to believe that these factors affect crime because they can increase or
decrease the probability that persons will associate with others who present definitions favorable to
crime.
Key components of differential association theory could be described in nine important propositions:
1) criminal behavior is learned, 2) criminal behavior is learned through interaction, 3) the major part
of learning criminal behavior occurs within intimate personal groups, 4) criminals learn the definitions
favorable to crime from these others and the techniques of committing crime, 5) the classification of
law as unfavorable or favorable will determine the particular direction of the motives and drives, 6) a
person becomes delinquent because an excess of definitions favorable to the law violation rather than
definitions unfavorable to the violation of the law, 7) differential associations may vary in frequency,
duration, priority, and intensity, 8), all of the mechanisms that would be involved with any other type
of learning are available in the process of learning criminal behavior by criminal and anti criminal
patterns, and 9) criminal behavior is not explained by general

The Opera Rigoletto At The Metropolitan Opera
The opera Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera was conducted by Pablo Heras Casado. The three
principal singers were Piotr Beczala as the Duke, Zeljko Lucic as Rigoletto and Olga Peretyatko as
Gilda. This being my first opera, I was surprised by how large and grandiose the house was, which is
in sharp contrast to my typical experience when I see musicals. The production decided to place a
modern twist on the setting of the opera, rather than the original setting of 16th century Italy, the story
is placed in Las Vegas in the 20th century. The set is constructed to reflect that in the first act with a
casino scene complete with neon lights, card tables and roulette. In my opinion, this all seemed to
distract the viewer from the story and the change in setting didn t enhance the production itself. Rather
it made me think about how out of place this all was instead of focusing on the opera itself. The first
act was fairly difficult for me to suspend disbelief and get into the plot of the opera. This had much to
do with me being initially turned off by the casino as the setting for this opera. Although in later acts I
was able to move past the modern set that was only because this set became less pronounced in the
second and third acts.

we as a nation should not fund a manned mission to Mars in the near future because it will be very

Figurative Language In Blackberry-Picking
Blackberry Picking is a short poem consisting of two uneven stanzas; brief and concise. The poet s use
of flashback is to give context and insight of his life back at the farm. The length of the poem does not
take away from the experience as the poet is able to successfully express not only a literal description
of picking berries but the intensity in doing so. Although the poet portrays intense longing through
varied use of figurative language he is devoid from the intricacies of style and structure on how the
poem is overall presented. To be able to understand the poet s purpose, one must not only look into the

culture, style, outlook on life and many other aspects. The one subculture that has grown
tremendously through out time is a very hard one to notice as a subculture opposed to a sport. Its said
that bodybuilding started way back in the times of great philosophers like Plato who believed that a
man should strive for a balance between mind and body and that there should be harmony between the
two. Also Plato believed with out a well conditioned body the mind would ultimately suffer. Taken
into aspect obviously someone perused the great words of a historic ... Show more content on

Also like all subcultures you have levels as to where you consider yourself in the culture and one man
of all could consider himself the beset of the Europe side, the American side, and the whole culture in
general and that man is still known very well today and goes by the name Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was known greatly around the entire world for his amazing body and ability
to almost win every competition he was entered in. When entering the bodybuilding scene in nineteen
sixty six Schwarzenegger started off his success in bodybuilding in sixty seven when he beat Dennis
Tinerino in the Mr. America. Schwarzenegger kept striving for excellence and winning many
competitions but by the nineteen eighties and nineties men like Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbo,
and Frank Zane were slowly being defeated with no problem by the new age of modern bodybuilding.
Today s modern bodybuilders opposed to the bodybuilders of the sixties and seventies look like they
have evolved from some enormous inhuman creature with amazing genes. Looking at the average size
and body fat percentages of old school bodybuilders they weighed somewhere between one hundred
and eighty to two hundred and twenty pounds. Now if you compare that to today s bodybuilders
weighing in at somewhere between two hundred fifty and three hundred pounds it makes you think

The Code Of Ethics And The Law Of The Public Health,...
Engineering is a vastly renowned and studied field, stemming from the rise of empires. This field has
such a wide area of study that there is no one engineer in the same, all are professionals in their own
field. In each one of these fields, there is a certain code of ethics that must be lived and maintained, by
the engineer themselves. There are lists of the different ethics models, but to list a few: there is
Rule Based Utilitarianism, Duty Ethics, Rights Ethics, Virtue Ethics, and the NCEES ethical code. All
of these individual codes clearly states, and sets guidelines for the engineers to follow and live by.
These ethics set the standard and obligations that engineers and their partners have to their clients,
society, and themselves.
According to the National Society of Professional Engineers, the services provided by engineers
require honesty, impartiality, fairness, and equity, and must be dedicated to the protection of the public
health, safety, and welfare (NSPE, 2015). This means that engineers need to work towards providing
all customers, including society as a whole, the best work and proficient product they possibly can. To
ensure that each project they work on is working correctly, they must properly test and design said
product, to shed light on any future issues they may encounter. Essentially, these different ethical
codes help to ensure that the quality of work engineers output is up to par, and in the best interest of
everyone

Poetry And Science Poem Analysis Forest Thomson advises this approach to a poem falsifies our experience of poems , we are seeing only a singular layer in which the reader is coercing a specific meaning that is easily digestible and relatable. Rather than engaging in such false readings, or bad naturalisation Forest Thomson demands a closer inspection of the genetic structure of a poem. To give each base element, or section of the sequence, the time and emphasis needed to understand and negotiate the importance these elements have on the poem as a whole. In this manner, it can be seen that her theory of poetry borrows from a biologist s mind set on the necessity to understand the smaller sub systems, so as to be able to view and retain an understanding of the wider. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He advocates that hoped to influence in some small measure a paradigm shift within the methodologies of the sciences. This rather determined position is highlighted in his postmodernist leanings, which are most poignantly shown in his belief that absolute truth is nothing but absolute conformism. Whilst throughout Against Method he argues for an epistemological anarchism that works contrary to the notion of co option, his demanding of a more expansive methodology that does not self limit does align. Feyerabend can be seen in some ways as the antithesis of Wilson s later Consilience. While Wilson argues for a unification of the separate fields of knowledge under a monistic concept of truth and knowledge, Feyerabend consistently demands the opposite. That knowledge is obtained from a multiplicity of views rather than from the determined application [of] a preferred ideology the prevailing western scientific method. It is this pluralism of theories that Feyeraband maintains is essential to both scientific progress and epistemological questioning. He also through this determination that multiplicative views and ideas are required leads to a requirement of interexchange between other fields of understanding. Just as poet and critic Forest Thomson also consistently expresses as necessary in her published works. • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Negligence Introduction. Negligence is a central topic in the vast area of Law Tort. It is largely due to Negligence being by far most practiced by Tort lawyers with huge number of litigations each year. As per Sir Percy Henry Winfield: Negligence is the breach of a legal duty to take care which results in damage, undesired by the Defendant to the Claimant. In other words, it is a failure to exercise that degree of care, when law requires for the purpose of protection of individuals, their properties and their financial interests. A duty of care is a legal obligation to safeguard individuals who can be considered your neighbours from harm: (in your care, your children, students, employees, etc.). Mr. Stovin, the Claimant, was knocked off his motorcycle by Mrs. Wise s car, the Defendant, and became injured. The Defendant claimed that the accident occurred because visibility of traffic on the junction was obstructed by a bank of earth with a fence. Thus, she claimed that Norfolk County Council (NCC) failed to maintain the junction in safe to use order, and therefore were liable. In the court of first instance the judge agreed that NCC owed a duty of care to the Claimant and were 30% liable to compensate Mr. Stovin. Mrs. Wise was 70% responsible for compensation to the Defendant. But on appeal to the House of Lords the Defendant NCC were found not liable. • 7. Charles De Gaulle Following World War II, it was quite clear that France was in need of political assistance. After the French defeat, the occupation of Nazis forced the government to either ally with the enemy, or to be destroyed from the inside out. The government, run by Pétain, decided to ally with the Nazi invaders, which established what is known as the Vichy government. Seeing as this was the official government of France at the time, any Frenchmen who were to speak out against the government were to be seen as heretical, and even charged with treason, under the dictatorial Hitler regime. Luckily for the people of France, there was such a man who decided to fight for a free France. Charles de Gaulle is the reason that France, following a complete overthrow by a dictatorial world power, once again became one of the most powerful and prestigious countries in the entire world. De Gaulle wanted, and pushed for, France to become a strong empire, a rebuild of the national economy, a reconstruction of the broken nation, and to establish a stronger executive power in the government. ... Amongst these varying opinions, there is one strong argument that can be made by nearly all historians: Charles de Gaulle has the legacy of being the single most polarizing individual in French history. While there were large amounts of people who believed in him, and saw him as the savior of the country, there were others who saw him as an attempt at a dictator. Most authors agree that the military principals that he put forward were largely important in the outcome of the blitzkrieg of the Germans, and that overall as a military figure he was more than exceptional. • 8. Fed Ex and Ups, Air Express Industry Analysis FED EX and UPS Airfreight Industry Analysis 1. During the 1980s, the air express industry was a medium to attractive industry to already be a major player in, but not a very attractive industry to try and break into. The industry can be characterized by high rivalry from competitors who compete on the same services with very little differentiation, medium power from suppliers who supply the resources necessary to run the business, high buyer power because customers can basically find an equal service from any firm in the industry, low substitution threat from other means of shipping transportation, and low threat of new entrants due to the high initial capital outlay and need of management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, threat of substitutes is low because air express still dominated the shipping scene and electronic transmission was not yet perfected. Threat of entry is low because it requires large capital investments for a firm to startup and thus it can impede the entry of new firms into the industry. Lastly, it would be hard to break into the industry because the other firms already have economies to scale, are further along learning curve, and may have certain airspace leases that blocks out the new company from potential routes. Therefore this industry is a pretty good one to already be in, but would be very tough to try and break into. Since established firms do not have to worry about threat of entrants or substitution, they can focus on making their core business practices cost efficient and profitable. Although firms have to deal with high buyer and supplier power, every firm has to deal with these issues. Therefore this leaves only rivalry to compete on, which forces firms to stay sharp, observe the competition, and provide excellent service to the firm s customers to generate profit. Industry competition intensified from 1988 to 1989 because there was a significant slowdown of the growth rate of the air express industry due to increasing geographic saturation, the acceptance of electronic transmission, and rapid consolidation of ... The current outlook for both of these indicators is still , unfortunately, bleak. We are firm believers in Edward Learner s thesis that Housing is the Business Cycle . It is still considered the source through which we view the economic cycle. According to a survey by PAA Research, the housing market colors every investment idea evaluated and consistently provides the prism to strategically forecast our economic indicators. The significance of the housing market and it s importance to this economy cannot be overstated. There is a wealth of quality information about real time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we look at Home Depot s business segments and the statistics on new home sales, we can see where the challenge is. According to the Commerce Department, sales of new homes grew by 6.6% in the month, setting the annual pace for 2010 to 307,000 total units sold. Although, there was an increase in September, this annual pace is the worst on new home sales since 1963, even when mortgage rates are at an all time low. This signifies why there would be disappointment from Home Depot. It is quite obvious that they will continue to struggle, at least through the 4th quarter of this year due to an industry dependent upon a strong real estate market. However, there is an upside. Most of us would think that the U.S. housing market is devoid of positive trends, which according to the National Association of Realtors, is not the case. • 16. The Exorcist Defines the Horror Genre Essay The horror genre has held a prominent position in culture for most of history. Beginning in folklore, used as a device to scare children into good behaviors (e.g. The Grimm Brother s Fairy Tales), horror has integrated its way into the 21st century through film, and in recent years even video games. Yearly, primarily during the fall when the leaves start to brown and the natural eerie sense of fear fills the air around Halloween, the film industry likes to fill in the holes between its major grossing seasons by filling the audience with fear. However, it was Christmas of 1973 that defined the new age of Horror, when William Friedkin released The Exorcist. In any genre, the correct note at the exact, pivotal moment can leave a member of the audience in tears, bliss, or suspense. Contrary to Julia Heimdinger s opinion, however, the lack of non digetic sound tends to be very important to the horror genre. This is because it allows you to experience the genuine fear that the protagonist is feeling. You can hear their frantic breath, or the creaking of floor boards, or even the rustling of leaves. This suspends the audience into a very realistic moment of suspence and fear. According to Clifford G. Schuette of Kansas State University: when sound is taken out of the equation, one s attention to detail and focus vastly increases (Schuette 13). Once the soundtrack is removed and only digetic sound remains, the viewer may become more involved and invested in the scene. This will ultimately create a more intense emotional reaction when the scene s suspense and tension culminate into the climatic scare. Special effects are another very important tool in defining the horror genre. In the years leading up to the 1970s, special effects were almost non existent, or minimal at best, in the film industry. It wasn t until The Exorcist was released in 1973 that movie goers were hit with believable special effects that would have been thought impossible a mere half decade before. This point is being brought up because people tend to use this as an escape tactic from a question that gets brought up constantly and the way to make them stop is to make up a fake reason so they can hang onto previously stated fake reason. There is a literal definition in this book and a metaphorical definition of the quote to kill a mockingbird is a sin ( ). The metaphorical definition goes around the lines of benefiting yourself off of the weak, examples of this are when people give money to the homeless just to make more money off of helping the homeless is like killing a mockingbird. Why does this matter? • 23. What Are The 3 Most Important Reasons For Study Principles... What are the 3 most important reasons to study principles of persuasion? The first reason it is important to study persuasion is to adapt to the technological age. In this age of technology as stated in Persuasion in Today s World the author examines persuasion and why it is important that we train ourselves to become responsible receivers of persuasion. (Larson, pg. 5) He does this by first explaining that the average American is exposed to over 5000 persuasive messages a day. It is important to train ourselves to be responsible receivers because persuasive messages have become a grammar of everyday life. These messages are received through a lexicon of different mediums from television to visual art, and also conversations with children. For example: I have a lot of nieces and a nephew who watch both Disney and nick Jr. both stations persuade parents with the idea of learning and they send messages of teaching leading the parents to believe it is ok for the children to watch. This creates tiny consumers that then ask their parents to buy them things associated with the shows and characters they watch in the programs. While a lot of these persuasive messages feed into the ideologies taught to us by other messages we learn from our parents or society. Larson went on to say: Persuasion is the result of combined efforts of source and receiver. Even in cases of terrorism and hostage taking, some hostages begin to identify with their captors. Some Christians have chosen to remain silent on the issue while others have decided to scream their distaste for homosexuality in the faces of others. One of the main ideas given by the Christians United organization is that all people are created in the image of God, and that God, as stated in article 1, is not limited to a gender binary, of male and female (Guyton). As an oligopoly market, the auto industry is highly dependent on strategic decision making, and the demand for dynamic innovation and supply at decreased cost levels. Competition, possibilities of turning substitutes into compliments, and shifts toward higher demand in services are seemingly leading factors that face the current automotive industry in the immediate future. • 30. The Importance of Proper Wine Storage A. The Importance of Proper Wine Storage While most of the commodities are consumed within 24 hours from the time of purchase, wines are often preserved for long term storage and aging. Wine is one of the things that get better with time when stored and aged properly but it can also spoil and deteriorate rapidly if kept in inappropriate condition. Proper storage and aging will enhance the wine s flavor, color and quality in general. In order for us to better understand the concept of preserving and aging of wines, the following critical elements should be taken into consideration. 1. Light Wines, especially white wines should not be subjected to excessive amounts of light. Wines should not be stored under direct sunlight and fluorescent lights with ultraviolet light in the wavelength of 325 to 450 nm. Light may adversely react with the chemical compounds in wine and create potential wine faults or defects which often leads to the wine having a lightstruck aroma (or gouts de lumiere French for tastes of light). A wine with a lightstruck aroma is characterized by a decrease in citrus aroma, while the intensity of unpleasant aroma increased. Wine stored in dark area are mostly to maintain its clarity and citrus aroma thus, most wines are packed in colored glass and stored in dark cellars. 2. Humidity Humidity is also a critical element of wine storage to be considered especially if wine cork closures and stoppers are used. The efficacy of the wine cork depends upon the ... • 31. Louis Zamperini Character Analysis Life is not a bed of roses rather it is a bed of thorns. Sometimes it looks like paradise but on the other hand it seems like a hell. It depends on human beings how they response under different circumstances. The one human being I believe went through adversities was Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was a POW in Japan. He went through various struggles such as being stranded in the ocean, being tortured in a death camp, starvation; he even used his last bit of strength to save his friends. Louis Zamperini was a man of many traits but the three that stick out to me are having forgiveness, being a leader, and being an inspiration to many. The definition of forgive is to stop feeling angry or resentful toward (someone) for an offense, flaw, or mistake. Louis, in the movie, showed great examples of forgiveness to the people who brutally tortured him. After being tortured in a Japanese death camp, Louis became determined to forgive all of his captors. In 1950, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Louis Zamperini received harsh punishment in the camps but that didn t stop him. Losing his dignity and freedom, Lou stood strong in his beliefs, even with being subjected to harsh punishment. Even though he couldn t fight them physically, Louis fought his captors evil doings any way he could. Louis Zamperini fought for his country, and he protected and tended to his comrades needs. The court meant by its statement that negligent hiring and negligent retention rely on liability on the part of an individual or a business that has been on the basis of negligence or other factors resulting in harm or damage to another individual or their property (Luthra, 2011) and not on an obligation that arises from the relationship of one party with another (Luthra, 2011). The court meant that negligent hiring and negligent retention do not rely on the scope of employment but address risks created by exposing members of the public to a potentially dangerous individual (McAdams, 2007, pg. 457). 2. According to the definition by the Florida Appellate court, Negligent retention occurs when, during the course of employment, the employer becomes aware or should have become aware of problems with an employee that indicated his unfitness, and the employer fails to take further action such as investigating, discharge, or reassignment (McAdams, 2007, pg. 458). Since the record contained evidence of a number of episodes during Landins employment after imprisonment where Honeywell should have become aware if not already aware and have taken action, this is why the court allowed for the negligent retention issue to go to trial. • 33. The Case Of The Lawsuit The Complaint Should Be Dismissed Because the Statute of Limitations Has Ran Shahmaleki s complaint is futile because the statute limitation has run on the civil rights claims. 42 U.S.C. § 1982 does not include its own statutes of limitations. Instead, courts borrow limitation periods from state law. Courts adopt the most analogous limitations period. In Kansas, the analogous action for § 1983 is injury to the rights of another. That means under Kansas law, the statutes of limitations for claims arising out of § 1983 is two years. Here, the statutes of limitations period has passed. The claim set out by Shahmaleki arose on May 1, 2013. As two years have passed since the claim arose, the statute of limitations has run and this Court should dismiss Shahmaleki s complaint. The amended complaint also does not relate back to the original complaint. An amendment to change or add a party must meet the requirements listed under 15(c) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure for it relate back. These requirements are 1) the amended claim must arise out of the conduct, transaction, or occurrence set out in the original pleading, 2) sufficient notice must be provided to the new parties, and 3) the new defendants must have known or should have known that the action would be brought against them, but for a mistake concerning the proper party s identity. • 34. Why The French Revolutionaries View The Months Of The... In 1793, the National Convention in Paris created a new calendar for the French republic. The new calendar renamed the months of the Gregorian calendar and rearranged them so that each month contained three weeks of ten days each; at the end of each year there were five days of festivals dedicated to virtue, intelligence, labor, opinion, and rewards. This calendar was kept in place until 1806 when it was abolished by Napoleon. The National Convention and other republican groups cited many reasons for the adoption of a new calendar, including ridding the republic of the old regime and implementing a more reasonable system. • 35. Edwin Hardin Sutherland s Theory Of Differential... Edwin Hardin Sutherland, an American criminologist, developed the theory of differential association in 1947. He created this theory to attempt to explain why crime was determined by various factors such as age, race, broken homes, urban or rural areas, mental disorder, and social class (Sutherland 136). His findings led him to believe that these factors affect crime because they can increase or decrease the probability that persons will associate with others who present definitions favorable to crime. Key components of differential association theory could be described in nine important propositions: 1) criminal behavior is learned, 2) criminal behavior is learned through interaction, 3) the major part of learning criminal behavior occurs within intimate personal groups, 4) criminals learn the definitions favorable to crime from these others and the techniques of committing crime, 5) the classification of law as unfavorable or favorable will determine the particular direction of the motives and drives, 6) a person becomes delinquent because an excess of definitions favorable to the law violation rather than definitions unfavorable to the violation of the law, 7) differential associations may vary in frequency, duration, priority, and intensity, 8), all of the mechanisms that would be involved with any other type of learning are available in the process of learning criminal behavior by criminal and anti criminal patterns, and 9) criminal behavior is not explained by general ... The three principal singers were Piotr Beczala as the Duke, Zeljko Lucic as Rigoletto and Olga Peretyatko as Gilda. This being my first opera, I was surprised by how large and grandiose the house was, which is in sharp contrast to my typical experience when I see musicals. The production decided to place a modern twist on the setting of the opera, rather than the original setting of 16th century Italy, the story is placed in Las Vegas in the 20th century. The set is constructed to reflect that in the first act with a casino scene complete with neon lights, card tables and roulette. In my opinion, this all seemed to distract the viewer from the story and the change in setting didn t enhance the production itself. Rather it made me think about how out of place this all was instead of focusing on the opera itself. The first act was fairly difficult for me to suspend disbelief and get into the plot of the opera. This had much to do with me being initially turned off by the casino as the setting for this opera. Although in later acts I was able to move past the modern set that was only because this set became less pronounced in the second and third acts. Now moving on to the aria s the three I will be focusing on will be the Aria from the Duke La Donna e Mobile, Bella figlia dell amore, and Della vendetta alfin giunge l´istante . The poet s use of flashback is to give context and insight of his life back at the farm. The length of the poem does not take away from the experience as the poet is able to successfully express not only a literal description of picking berries but the intensity in doing so. Although the poet portrays intense longing through varied use of figurative language he is devoid from the intricacies of style and structure on how the poem is overall presented.
