Parenting Styles and Child Rearing
Parenting style is very important in child rearing and can have consequences in the way that a child
develops and can have long term effects on children and their personality later in life. Diana Baumrind
developed her ideas of parenting styles and their effects by studying 100 preschool children and their
parents. Although most of the subjects of her study were Californian middle class European
Americans, thus not offering much diversity in her study, the results were very persuasive and
interesting. Baumrind found that parents varied on four dimensions: expression of warmth, strength of
discipline, communication, and expectation of maturity. Using these dimensions as the basis Baumrind
developed three main classifications of parenting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally there is a fourth parenting style which isn t grouped with the other three this is the
neglectful/uninvolved parenting style which is described as an indifferent approach towards parenting
where the parent isn t aware of the child s life, the parent is just uninvolved and doesn t care to punish
or praise the child. There are implications depending on the type of parenting style that was used on
the child. If a child grew up with authoritarian parents for example would grow up to be well behaved,
obedient but unhappy, likely depressed, and would also likely leave home before the age of 20.
Children that grow up with permissive parents would grow up to be dependent on parents living at
home into adulthood, would lack emotional control, self control and would be unhappy as adults.
Finally the child that grows up with authoritative parents, it seems would grow up to be the best
adjusted out of the three styles. A child with authoritative parents would be well adjusted, happy,
generous, and successful. They are also well regarded by others especially in western individualistic
societies. Now the text does warn that the parenting style which ends up working the best for each
child should be dependent on various factors such as the child s temperament, these are after all
generalizations. Parenting styles and the consequences of parenting styles is very interesting because it
can help parents ensure that their child grows up to be well adjusted. If parents

The Effects of Caffeine on Daphnia
This experiment is to see The Affect of Caffeine on Daphnia. Daphnia is also known as a water flea. It
is a distant relative of crabs and shrimps. (Marshall Cavendish, 2002) Daphnia have a hard external
skeleton with jointed appendages and limbs. The head contains a large central eye which is made of
two eyes joined together. Daphnia has two pairs of antennae which are used for swimming. Each
daphnia has five pairs of limbs. These limbs lie in a certain space under the body bounded by the
carapace. (Marshall Cavendish, 2002) A carapace is a hard upper shell or chitinous outer covering on
the back of some animals. The daphnia is well preserved because of its shells which are composed of
chitin. The usual size of this microorganism is about 0.2 0.3 mm; they look like flat disks. Their
bodies are divided into three parts head, thorax, and abdomen. The head is typically dome shaped with
five pairs of appendages. Among these five are two pairs of antennae; there is a small pair and a larger
pair. The smaller pair of antennae serves as a sensory function and the larger one is used for
swimming. The other three appendages purpose is to secure food they intake. (Michael Hutchins,
2003) The thorax holds four to six pairs of legs that are used for gathering food, filtering water, or
grasping mates. There are over 400 species of daphnia and they are distributed worldwide. Daphnia
uses their thoracic legs to produce a constant current of water; this allows them to filter food

Battle At Trenton Essay
An early morning on Christmas Day, commenced the battle at Trenton. George Washington, leader of
the continental army, determined and strong knew he had to succeed in the surprise attack against the
hessians that day, if he failed he and his men would be captured. It was a risky tactic but Washington
knew it d be a better time to put all of his hope and his men s hope into this one battle at Trenton.
Washington led his men across the Delaware river, Washington was able to keep the element of
surprise and get his army and himself the victory at Trenton. Although Washington was a great leader

The battle of Saratoga was an important battle for the colonists that took place in upstate New York,
this gave them a light, a brand new light that would give the colonists a real chance to win. This
important victory wasn t just for the colonists, it intrigued the French that the colonists won the battle
of Saratoga which made the French want to help the colonists. France allied itself with the United
States in 1778, the French provided materials and money and sent over an elite army to join the
colonists. French long term motivation against Britain had brought a great win to the American
Revolution against the British. Later on the Netherlands and Spain joined the war and allied with the
United States and France which made this a global war. Britain being the strongest at that time period
had no allies. French had two main reason to join the American Revolution. One of them being that
they had sought revenge after the loss during the sevens year war, and that it wanted to prevent Britain
from becoming too powerful. Letting the France,Netherlands and Spain join the world caused world

Life Journey in Journey to the West, Life of a Sensuous...
In society today there are several moving parts, almost like gears in a clock, pepole constantly move.
Going day in and day out of thier ordinary routiene. Its as if they have lost the purpose of their
exsistance. So caught up in tabloids and money people seem to forget the search for love, self
acceptance, and spirituality. These concepts are tied into novels written decades ago and were once the
main topic of a persons life. Whether a person was looking for spiritual guidence or self accepence,
they could find the answer in lititure. In Journey to the West, the Handsome Monkey King was lost
and wanted to find enlightenment. He lived in a perfectly harmonious world of immortality, but found
that something was missing. He felt as if he had no purpose, so he left his ideal life to go find his
meaning. On his journey, he came across several disputes and found that he was not as clever as he
thought to be. The Monkey King came across several dicipals and battled his way to find the meaning
of true enlightenment. When he finally found his way to enlightenment, he felt as if he achieved his
purpose but never returned home. The Monkey King continued to travel around the world with his
friend and continued adventuring off to different islands and facing different problems; that was his
true propose. Life for him was not meant to be perfect nor easy. At one, point in the book the monkey

Three Must Destinations in Lakeland
To a tourist visiting Florida, there is a break he can pass on distant from the tedious rides in the iconic
theme parks of Disneyworld in Orlando or the fine white sand beaches in the Tampa area. This is
particularly so when the trip involves a family. Cost notwithstanding, Lakeland, located 42 minutes
from the theme parks from the East and about 45 minutes West to the Tampa shores of Central Florida,
offer places to travel that are loose on the budget.

Contributions Of George Orwell
Orwell s Life:
On June 25th, 1903 Orwell was born in eastern India under the name Eric Arthur Blair. He went to
school in England then moved to Burma, which at the time was a British colony. He joined the Indian
Imperial Police and worked there until his resignation in 1927 when he decided to become a writer. He
moved to Paris where lack of success as a writer forced him into a series of menial jobs (BBC). He
took on the name George Orwell shortly before his first book Down and Out in Paris and London was
published. Orwell considered himself a socialist and briefly fought in Spain against Franco s
Nationalists before fleeing for his life. He wrote propaganda for the BBC from 1941 1943 and in 1945
he published Animal Farm which brought his name to fame. In 1949 the now classic 1984 was
published and the following year on January 21st 1950 he passed away from tuberculosis.
Orwell s Work:
Most of Orwell s work was inspired at least in part by life events and his personal political views. He
used his experiences in poor areas of London and the slums of Paris as the base for his written work
Down and Out in Paris and London. He altered some of his actual experiences into a work of fiction
that would be more interesting to read than simply telling his story. Orwell s later works often
contained his political opinions, which he did not masterfully incorporate until he wrote Animal Farm.

Road Traffic Congestion in Singapore Essay
Straddling Bus (SB)
Current situation
Road traffic congestion is a major problem in Singapore and it results in delays in the transport system
such as buses not reaching their destinations on their scheduled time. Because of that, it also results in
commuters not getting to their destinations on time even though they already take the shortest route to
their destinations. Although the governmental organisations are putting in effort to deal with transport
capacity, the majority of the citizens are demanding for more efficient performance on travel time.
Otherwise, road users may face additional traffic jam conditions that affect their value of time.
Furthermore, public transport users may tend to pay additional transport fees to avoid the ... Show

Criseyde s Personality in her Thought Life and Reality Essay
The character of Criseyde in Troilus and Criseyde is intriguing not only because of the conflicts and
tensions she is faced with, but also because of the occasional variations between the type of person she
is in her thoughts and the type of person she is when she interacts with Pandarus or Troilus. In her
thought she is more independent, self confident and her feelings for Troilus are made evident.
Whereas her persona when she s interacting with Pandarus or Troilus is more reserved and her actions
depict her as weak and victim like. In Book II, the passage in lines 695 765 (pgs. 96 101) reveals

Although in her thought Criseyde admits her beauty and is proud of it,
Ne me to love, a wonder is it nought;
For wel woot I myself, so God me spede (lines 743 744) she does not admit this, but rather shies away
from it when Pandarus praises her appearance and tells her to do away with her widow outfit (lines
110). Her modesty when in public is also evident from her reaction to Pandarus when he gazes at her
beauty, And loked on hire in a bysi wyse
And she was war that he byheld hire so,
And seyde, lord! So faste ye m avise!
Sey ye me nevere er now? What sey ye no? (Line 275)
Here Criseyde gets uncomfortable and acts astonished when Pandarus stares at her. Although, as
previously stated, she reveals in her thoughts that she knows that she is beautiful and that it is of no
shock to her that people stare at her. Criseyde s confesses her unwillingness to show her self
confidence in public in the passage, Al wolde I that noon wiste of this thought, (line 745).
This explains why she portrays herself as a shier and naïve person in public by acting as if she is not
aware of her beauty.

Criseyde s reluctance in showcasing her self confidence indicates that she had to act in a certain
demeanor when in public. She had to be more modest and lady like. This is why she shied away and

Pros And Cons Of A Living Constitution
In the United States, there has often been debate over whether the U.S. Constitution is a living
constitution. A living constitution is the idea that the interpretation of constitutional phrases should
take into account the contemporaneous society. In other words, practices and traditions of the
government have the ability to change and transform over time in accordance with the changes in
society. Similarly, there has often been debate in the religious community as to whether the practices
and traditions of the church have the ability to change and transform in order to better suit the needs of
its constituents. Two Popes in the Roman Catholic church, Pope Francis and Pope Pius IX, have
published documents with opposing viewpoints about the church s ability to change and transform
over time. The aforementioned documents also highlight other issues commonly debated within the
church. Ultimately, Pope Francis favors a more progressive church, that is opento change, while Pope
Pius IX favors a church with more rigid guidelines that follow traditional practices. Pope Francis
Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, was published in November 2013. The document discusses
several current debates occurring in the Catholic Church. First, Francis discusses the dangers of a
consumeristic society and warns that the current economy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some of the heresies rejected include the belief that the church isn t perfect, the idea that the church

over the rules of civil society and law. More so than that, the traditional practices of the church shall

Wave Patterns
The Effect Mixing Has on the Wave Patterns of a Song

Abstract The purpose of the experiment was to find the objective difference between an original song
and an acoustic or a remix version of the same song. The expectation was that the difference lies in the
amount of contrast between the highest and lowest amplitude. Sound waves are created when an
object vibrates back and forth and they have amplitudes, wavelengths, and frequencies. Sixty songs
were analyzed in Audacity, a music program. Using the output, their amplitudes were measured and
compared with other versions having clean audio and the same artist. Most of the data supported the
hypothesis by stating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The outliers to this was Lips Are Moving, Viva la Vida, Take me to Church, and Ice Ice Baby. A
possible reason for this is differences between recording circumstances. All artists have different
equipment and that impacts the sound quality. Unfortunately, this is a variable that couldn t have been
manipulated due to lack of resources and remains an issue in the experimental design. The recording
of Lips Are Moving especially had unusably low Greatest Amplitude readings: 0.20, 0.17, and 0.18
cm. This is probably a flawed recording, not a program error, because all three trials were outliers and
the rest of the songs had different results. Ideally, in future experiments, all the artists should be
brought in to one studio and had them record in the exact same circumstances with the same

Tesco s Strategy At The New Retail Market
STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT Tesco s strategy to compete in the new retail market
INTRODUCTION Tesco, UK s largest supermarket is facing a stiff competition from discounters
(Aldi) and to a certain extent from the high end supermarkets (M S) since the past few years. Tesco s
share value fell from 321p in December 2013 to 168.15p in December 2014. (Yahoo, 2015) To add to
this depreciating market value and low profits, Tesco has been in the headlines for a myriad of scams.
Such a situation calls for a strategy overhaul. The shortcomings in Tesco s strategy to deal with the

CAMBRIDGE, 2015) THE CURRENT SITUATION In 2014, Tesco witnessed its worst financial year
in decades with sales plummeting and its market share being lost to the discounters and upmarket
supermarkets. The management team was overhauled and a new CEO, Dave Lewis, was appointed.
Lewis shut 43 unprofitable stores and scrapped the development of 49 others. (Quinn, 2015) He also
brought about various job cuts and sold some of Tesco s subsidiaries such as the broadband. In his
attempt to reduce costs by over a quarter of a million pounds per annum, he decided to close the
Chestnut Headquarters and merge it with the Welwyn Garden City office, consequently reducing the
management overheads (Shapland, 2015) These and other associated measures are very drastic cost
cutting measures, but they alone cannot revive Tesco. It needs more than just reducing waste and
overheads. In the words of Alastair Dryburgh You can t compete on price with someone who has
systematically designed their business to be cheaper than you. (Dryburgh, 2014) Tesco needs to cope
and not compete, and this issue is highlighted in various contexts in the report. TESCO S

Analysis Of The Worst Years Of Our Lives By Barbara...
Almost everywhere people go today there are TVs: in restaurants, schools, doctors offices, and homes.
There is no way to escape the reach of technology. Barbara Ehrenreich, the author of The Worst Years
of Our Lives, believes that people are becoming couch potatoes because they are not going out and
doing the activities they see on TV. Generally, Ehrenreich is correct in her belief; people spend more
time watching TV, than living a healthy lifestyle and interacting with the people around them.
Furthermore, the social health of people is suffering due to watching TV, over hanging out with
friends. When watching TV people do not talk, as they need to hear the show they are watching. They

If people do not know how to talk to others, then they cannot get jobs that involve talking to others.
Some people are content with not having great jobs and settling for mediocre jobs; people live
vicariously through the TV. They can watch a show and fulfill the need to be the person in the show,
instead of actually being like that person in real life. Knowing how to communicate effectively is an
important life skill that people are losing from watching too much television. When customers ask
questions, people have to know how to properly address those questions and how to explain in a way
that makes sense for everyone involved. It is imperative that people know how to do this, otherwise
they are ineffective and others just get frustrated. Employers are not going to hire people that are not
going to be able to speak with customers or participate when brainstorming, even if they had a good
idea. People are becoming more introverted; no one talks with others face to face. They are too busy
watching TV to hang out with friends or family and are lacking human interaction that causes this loss

My Consequences Of Crafting
My attention on crafting was it was, though, I almost failed to notice the trio of seven foot tall
dinosaurs skulking through the bush on the right side of the road... Almost. One was closing in from in
front and to the right, behind to the right, and the last almost directly to the right A pincer with the one
in the center to finish me off. Definitely not something a friendly lumbering herbivore would do. No
siree. I glanced left and right, eyeing the six foot fencing on either side with slack, rusted cables that
gave little comfort. And looking up the road I could see two wide breaks in the fence where the poles
were flat out gone. Trampled down most likely. The thing was as holed as swiss cheese. So it was

The first had called out and... yes, the other had been in retreat as well, but at the call, the other two
changed direction... and it had been the three of them working together, I was certain of it, like... a
pack. So something like the dino equivalent of wolves then? Interesting. Well, interesting in that they
might be telling each other they were retreating. A dinosaur whatever person would probably be
dancing in glee. They never quite left, though. As I walked they ghosting in and out of range, lingering
at the edge of my awareness until I rebuffed them. Interesting, in a different sense, but they weren t
quite pushing it. Watching how they acted, I almost wanted to say they were testing how the swarm
reacted when they got too close. But that level of pattern recognition... Communication was one thing,
but that was a bit much. Nearing a junction in the road the sock on my right foot slipped down under
my heel, but I ignored it. Instead, I stopped at the fork to look down both roads, standing on the rail
where it crossed with another. Left and right, staying on the road I was on would lead wherever, but

Within everyone, there exists a constant friction between one s self interest and morality. At first,

The switch from Windows to Linux is something that many organizations contemplate doing but
many tread this route with much care. In recent years management has been concerned with the rising
cost of doing business; the security of their patents and customer information were their major
concerns. While most agree that these issues deserve attention, consensus dissolves on how to solve

Plan for Migration from Windows to Linux
The transition from Windows to Linux can be long and take months to achieve, the moving of data
setting the installations of the servers and clients is time consuming and need professionals to handle
it, however the transition is more than worth it. A good transition to take place would require extensive
planning of resources, time and expertise. The best approach to deal with migrate from Windows to
Linux is gradual, one department after another. The service of servers is the most critical phase to start
with. A typical office uses shared resources to maximize on the resource hence it is critical to start
with the services that are shared the most and change those first. Printing, Storage and application
servers are some of the critical areas that any organization s IT want to see go as smooth as possible.
Linux can be configured from installation to be a server or just a regular desktop client. Once the
servers have been installed in place then the clients that are going to be pulling the resources from it
can be installed and integrated gradually to avoid disruption of services to the workers.

The Stamp Act Of 1765
When the Stamp Act of 1765 was passed in the Thirteen Colonies, the colonists were compelled to
rethink their loyalty and standing with the British monarchy. The Stamp Act would be the first actual
tax levied upon the colonists, which caused outrage in the Thirteen Colonies. The act would place a
tax on any document and printed paper that they used: such as legal documents, newspapers, and
licenses. All thirteen colonies did not agree that the tax was passed with legality and refused to
acknowledge that such tax existed. They would all band together to ensure that the Stamp Act would
be repealed and would become nonexistent. Two important cities within the colonies that aided and
became a huge influence in the battle against the Stamp Act were New York and Boston. These cities,
which had already contributed significantly in political and cultural means, led the battle against the
Stamp Act. With the passing of the Stamp Act, the citizens of New York and Boston would respond
with riots that included destruction of property, fires, effigies and protests. While the citizens of these
two cities would become voices against the tax, the power of the Sons of Liberty cannot be
undermined. Within the Stamp Act Crisis, the organization of the Sons of Liberty would be formed
and emerge to become powerful in these two cities, and would aid in the struggle against the tax and
the monarchy with strategic plans and guidance. Furthermore, the Sons of Liberty had their own

Essay On African American Family
Although most African Americans in the United States are Protestant, 78% compared with only 51%
of the United States as a whole. I will note that Protestantism in the U.S. and in the black community
is not homogenous. It is divided among three main steam traditions, evangelical Protestant churches,
mainline Protestant churches and historically black Protestant churches.
Other similarities that African Americans and Lebanese Americans share are their love for food and
family. African Americans love to eat, as do Lebanese Americans and what better way to do this than
at a family gathering. I have several Lebanese families that live on my block and at least monthly they
have a family gathering that includes each family member arriving with food (usually potluck style).

Introduction:
Tthe Sunnyside corporation was founded in 1893 by Henry Lueders 1 . For over 100 years, the
company has strived to provide eco friendly products to consumers. Their product green envy is a
paint thinner2 that strives to keep the air clean with less emissions and increased safety through
limited flammability and lowered toxins. Everyone wants their home to look nice, even
environmentalists, and this is the product that manages to accomplish the best of both worlds. It thins
paint to give any surface a slick, clean look while simultaneously keeping pollutants to a minimum.
Under normal circumstances, this product would be marketed to consumer who have shown a strong
desire for lowered pollution rates, but given climate change and a rise in environmental issues, this
product can (and should) be marked to the public. Anyone who has bought or remodeled a home is
likely to desire a fresh and sleek look. This product can accomplish that while also cleaning the
atmosphere. General marketing in brand name stores to regular, day to day customers is the route to
take.

individual customers can be accomplish, the smarter tactics will likely involve selling directly to
businesses and business markets. They have easier and wider access to consumers who likely return to
theirs stores and locations time and time again for additional purchases. Homeowner and construction

Stereotyping In Los Vendidos By Luis Valdez
Are you really looking at what your seeing? In Luis Valdez s short play Los Vendidos, it is clear that
there was a stereotyping issue as well as symbolism throughout his play. I have analyzed his symbolic
demonstrations on how Mexicans are labeled and how stereotyping affects the way Americans view
Mexicans. In an article by an anonymous writer titled Los Vendidos , Luis Valdez: Using stereotypes
to end racism, there was a quote stating, Theater as a weapon , Valdez used theater as a weapon to
attempt to highlight latino stereotypes and their effects on society on those stereotypes. Valdez was the
second born out of 10 brothers and sisters. At the age of six he began working in the fields with his
parents. Valdez began writing plays to express his lifestyle and his family s life style when he was

Neanderthal Parallax, Hominids, by Robert J. Sawyer
The human race has achieved many impossible feats. We have landed on the moon, illuminated the
world with the electric light, and cured illnesses that used kill thousands. In a world where we look to
technology to answer all of life s problems, we are faced with a dilemma. How can our technology
possibly keep up with our modern needs? In the first book of the Neanderthal Parallax, Hominids, by
Robert J. Sawyer, we are transported into a parallel universe. In this unpolluted world that is populated
by Neanderthals, there is a sophisticated computing system, we know as a quantum computer. As of
2014, quantum computers are still in their infancy, and have been prophesied since the early 1990s.
However, work on building a quantum computer, and creating algorithms compatible with one, began
around the turn of the century. As one of only seven sci fi writers in the world, and the only Canadian,
who has won all three of the top international awards for science fiction, he is known for the amount
of research and probable vision intertwined into the technology in his books.
A quantum computer is a sophisticated computer device that can actually calculate the use of quantum
mechanical phenomena, to perform operations on data. Basically, it s one of the few devices that can
calculate the quantum theory. Quantum theory is also classified as quantum mechanics, which is a
branch of physics that deals with physical phenomena inside of particles at nanoscopic scales

Metaphors In Pilgrim s Progress
The Metaphoricality of Pilgrim s Progress Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan is the third most sold
book in the English language. It has been read and loved dearly by people throughout the world, due
to the fact that it has been printed in over 200 languages and is considered the first novel in English. A
lot attributes to this popularity. The storyline, characters, and plot are all adventurous and easy to get
sucked into, leading to readers being unable to put the book down. However, the greatest strength this
book has is its use of metaphors and imagery. These two traits allow great storytelling and teach quite
a lot to readers everywhere. Pilgrim s Progress use of metaphors hints at real life through Christian s

The people besides Christian and a handful of others he meets such as Faithful and Hopeful are all
quite worldly, and seek to focus on themselves and their fleshly desires. Christian is tempted multiple
times to stray away from the path he was told to follow. Only once did he stray, because Mr. Worldly
Wiseman told him that there was an easier way to remove his burden. This would have led to his death
had Evangelist not turned him around. He also manages to overcome temptation by staying on the
path as well as remembering scripture and trusting in the Lord. Throughout the temptations, Christian
overcomes with the help of God. Christian s burden and the things surrounding it represent much. It is
the object that made Christian yearn for a better life and started him on his journey. It represents sin.
The Burden holds such a great weight on Christian that he seems to be unable to be freed of it. Yet, the
path to the Celestial City saves him from it. Christian is free from his burden after he gazes upon the
Cross and watches it roll away. The burden of sin is heavy, but the path of salvation helps rid all of

Entrepreneurs Are Born and Made
Introduction
Entrepreneurs are born not made
There are two sides to every debate, and the what makes an entrepreneur argument has raged for
decades with neither side able to conclusively prove their case. There are many who believe that an
entrepreneur must possess personality traits such as vision, passion and drive that are innate and
cannot be taught. Others argue that the skills of evaluating opportunities, motivating people and
operating a business are easily passed on to eager students looking to be entrepreneurs. The truth is
that both sides are right and it s time for a compromise: Entrepreneurs are born and made. Some
people may be natural entrepreneurs and immediately open a business, others will have studied and ...

Some psychological models assert that a proportion of our personality is inborn and permanent
(Hollander, 1971), that a psychological core at the center of our personality gives us enduring, inner
characteristics. Hans Eysenck (1965) suggests that our motivation and emotion are related to
biological differences in brain function and proposed that 75% of our personality is based on genetic
influence and 25% on environmental influence. Research by Peter Whybrow (1999) on identical twins
separated at birth examined how their different environments shaped their personalities. He found that
around 40% of personality should be credited to genetics, with 60% determined by outside factors.
It is widely agreed that certain personality traits are important to being a successful entrepreneur. If we
are not born with those innate characteristics, psychologists believe that we do have some ability to
adopt new ones or influence ourselves to a certain degree.
Another example of the need to be born to be an entrepreneur comes from a study conducted on of
more than 200 U.S. entrepreneurs by Northeastern University s School of Technological
Entrepreneurship where 61% claim they were inspired to start their own companies by their innate
desire and determination, rather than by their education or work experience (Taylor, 2006). Other
factors cited were work experience (21 percent) and success of entrepreneurial peers within their
industry (16 percent) and only 1% said higher

the vision and the plan were not enough. They needed funding. In order to quit making their coffee

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Boomers
Communication Weaknesses
Boomers
Each generation s weakness is a subset of their communication preferences and strengths. Boomers
preferred method of communication necessitates multiple meetings, which can be rather time
consuming for other employees of a company. Boomers have also grown accustomed to email, and are
less likely to keep up with current technology trends. As of January 2017, new trends have signaled
the decline of email in the workplace, according to Laurie Beaver of Business Intelligence: informal
and engaging social networking apps are convenient, easy to use, and fast (2017). They may also take
longer to get feedback to people, because it is in their nature to take their time to provide thorough and
complete feedback. With older methods of communication on the decline, and new technologies
emerging, Boomers need to avoid the obsolescence of their current skill set by following new trends in
information technologies.
Gen X
Again, this generation inhabits a space between two very different generations, one which moves at a
steady pace, and one which constantly adjusts to the newest trends. Gen X lies somewhere in the
middle, where they rely on techniques they re comfortable with, without growing complacent.
Members of Generation X, according to De La Torre, grew up more skeptical of authority and rules,
placing high value on independence and flexibility (De La Torre, 2016). Communication with Gen
Xers needs to focus on meeting that preference, otherwise it will be inefficient. Work tends to run on
their own schedule, which can slow down internal processes and result in conservative deadlines to
allow scheduling discrepancies (Perine, 2012). Efficient time use both complements and conflicts with
setting a schedule independently: when focused, Gen Xers can increase productivity and accomplish
high volumes of work; when distracted, they inhibit their teams and decrease overall productivity.
Millennials
The same traits which make Millennials an asset to a company can also make them a liability.
Millennials prefer brief, frequent communications with their colleagues, which can interrupt others
work and cause distraction. Because of the frequency of those exchanges, this generation often leave

Other scientists have similar methods to solving the Vaccine problem with clinical trials and patients.

Advantages Of Computer Assisted Language Learning
People had been studying how to use a computer on the educational side for many years. Previous
English learners learnt English through a regular English class, an interesting and a fantastic English

Postman s Theory Of Identity Theft Essay
One of Postman s theories was based on technological change as a trade off. According to this theory,
Postman believed that there were advantages and disadvantages to every new technology introduced.
There is an imbalance on whether a user s enthusiasm to share news outweigh their privacy values.
Gross and Acquisti s proposition to information sharing states that, users may be pragmatically
publishing personal information because the benefits they expect from public disclosure surpass its
perceived costs (10). To those who have become victims of identity theft through social media, the
disadvantages might be more obvious than to the general public. Social networks pressurize users for
information that consequently causes users to disregard privacy moralities. Further disadvantages
discovered by Social Networking ProCon include government intrusions, decreasing employee
productivity, promoting crimes, and facilitating cyberbullying.
Not all users on social networks will become victims of identity theft, but the statistics are alarming.
Even with 54% of social media profiles targeted for identity theft, 93% of user s still share relevant
information such as their full names and those of families. How social media identity theft typically

Throughout Greek mythology, there are many great gods, goddesses and heroes. In Greek mythology
gods, goddesses and heroes often have suffered greatly but have achieved great tasks. Out of all the

Ariadne from the island of Naxos but he also created wine which is still one of the most popular

He is the god of wine, cheer, wild behavior, dancing, fertility, resurrection, drama, song, vegetation,
and all around jolly fellow. He was a very popular god because of his jolly disposition and carefree

My Last Duchess is about a duke who wants to marry the Count s daughter. The Count does not know

leave her partner for him, but as the stormy night grew Porphyria started to admit her love for him.
Porphyria s lover said Happy and proud, at last I knew Porphyria worshipped me, at this moment she

Porphyria s lover is debating what to do to keep this moment special.
Porphyria s lover now knows what to do he says Perfectly pure and good, I found a thing to do, and all
her hair in one long yellow string wound three times her little throat around, and strangled her he is
saying that he killed her. Porphyria s lover ends the poem by saying And yet God has not said a word
he thinks he s done no wrong at all.
Porphyria s lover thinks he has done no wrong because God has said nothing and he wanted to sabre

Theories of ethical decision making assume it is a process that is special, or different in some regard
from typical individual decision making. Empirical results of the most widely known theories in the
field of business ethics contain numerous inconsistencies and contradictions. In an attempt to assess
why we continue to lack understanding of how individuals make ethical decisions at work, an
inductive study of ethical decision making was conducted. The results of this preliminary study
suggest that ethical decision making might not be meaningfully special or different from other
decision making processes. The implications of this research are potentially significant in that they
challenge the fundamental assumption of existing ethical decision making research. This research
could serve as an impetus for further examination of whether ethical decision making is meaningfully
different from other decision making processes. Such studies could create new directions for the field
of business ethics.

Hydraulic Fracturing Is Not The Only Cause For Ethical...
Hydraulic fracturing is not the only cause for ethical concern. Mountaintop removal for the purposes
of coal mining is an incredibly harmful procedure taking place on our planet. This destructive action
being taken by companies looking to access coal underneath mountains is not only damaging to the
earth and environment, but is also affecting humans who live near these sites (The Destructive Process
of Mountaintop Removal). Companies is West Virginia and Kentucky can take virtually any mountain
they choose and level it because laws are created in the favor of coal mining companies.
The process of mountaintop removal is a drawn out process that eventually leaves the earth it is
leveling unusable. First, the mountain is cleared of trees, plants, and topsoil. The trees below are often
cleared as well to make room for the rubble that will take their place. The next step involves blasting
the top of the mountain. Ammonium nitrate explosives are used to blast through up to 1,000 feet of the
mountain in order to access coal seams (The Destructive Process of Mountaintop Removal). During
this time dust and toxic chemicals like silica, fall over surrounding areas sometimes even
neighborhoods and communities. As noted before, silica is known to cause the lung disease silicosis,
so it is disturbing that one of these removal sites is within several hundred yards of an elementary

In his paper I ll be talking Claudio Monteverdi, an Italian composer, string player and choirmaster
during the late renaissance and early baroque era who was versed in both secular and sacred music and
also worked as a choirmaster. A pioneer in the development of opera and crucial figure in both of these
major music periods of classical music. Monteverdi was born in Cremona in 1567, as the son of a
barber and brain surgeon as well as a chemist was his father Baldassare Monteverdi. Claudio s mother,
Maddalena Monteverdi nee Zigani was the child of a blacksmith. Monteverdi was born the oldest
child of six other siblings, he had three other brothers and only two sisters. Maddalena died when
Claudio when he was nine, at that time his father had married another woman by the name of
Giovanno Gadio in 1577. Then having three more kids with Gadio but she died shortly after.
Claudio studied with director of music at the cathedral of Cremona, who was Marcantonio Ingegneri,
who was known to have wrote modern madrigals and church music that wasn t in linear form with that
of the 1570s. Monteverdi aspired to do the same as at the age of fifteen he composed a book of
madrigals himself, that were secular in creation. His first book being titled

Radical Communism Vs Radical Feminism
Marxist Feminism is focused on explaining the ways women are oppressed through the systems of
capitalism and private affairs. A Marxist feminist would say that equality can only be reached through
a radical reconstruction of the capitalist economy where most of women s labor is not compensated. In
regards to the wage gap, a Marxists feminist believes that there are two kinds of labor, one is a
productive labor that results in getting paid in money. The second is reproductive which is not
involved with the capitalist system, but it s more private affairs that involves working to live for
oneself. Cleaning, cooking, having children and simple errands are all things that fall into the private,
reproductive sphere of labor. It s said that women are basically assigned to the reproductive labor and
are expected to fall into the reproductive unpaid labor instead of productive paid labor. Marxists
Feminists argue that this is the root of unequal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marxist feminism believes that the only way to fix the wage gap would be to completely reconstruct
the capitalist system where radical feminism believes that the wage gap could only be fixed if the
patriarchy was completely destroyed. One key difference between Marxist feminism and radical
feminism is that Marxist feminism focuses more on material wealth rather than social wealth. Radical
feminism is more about social status rather than production status. A liberal feminist has the viewpoint
that each individual women must take action to gain her rights. Therefore, their view on the wage gap
differs as they don t believe in a reconstruction of an entire system and they don t fall into the same
radical beliefs as radical feminists. However, all three of these feminist viewpoints all want the same
thing, equal pay and equality in general. They all have differing and contrasting opinions on how to
reach that point, but ultimately they have the good of society in

Theme Of Allegory In The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Nathaniel Hawthorne was the author of multiple short stories and poems, all of them in the Dark
Romantic genre. Hawthorne gained his inspiration at home with his mother, sisters, and his wife,
Sophia Peabody who was a poet as well. In his writing, one of his strongest traits was his use of
allegory. Hawthorne often uses allegory in his short stories to add a different perspective onto his
many works. In his short story, The Birthmark, Hawthorne utilizes foreshadowing and symbolism to
portray the allegorical lesson that striving for perfection results in troubling outcomes.
Hawthorne uses the device of foreshadowing to show how aiming for perfection results in an outcome
that one does not expect. This is evident when he writes, Aylmer ... Show more content on

Georgiana s birthmark is the main symbol in the story that could have multiple meanings. It is clear
what the birthmark symbolizes when Georgiana declares, I am happy to put my life in your hands,
(Hawthorne 3). Aylmer is ready to start his experiment when Georgiana says she is willing to be a part
of it. What Aylmer does not know is that the birthmark actually symbolizes her mortality and when
she says she is happy to put her life in his hands, she actually means that her birthmark is her lifeline
and she is happy to put it in his hands. Aylmer wanted his wife to be perfect, but he only made the
outcome worse with trying to remove the mark. Another example of symbolism is when Hawthorne
writes, The mark was usually a deep red color, (Hawthorne 1). The color red could symbolize one of
many different things, but it mainly symbolizes the color of blood. Blood is a main part of one s body
and mortality, and when the birthmark is described by its deep red color, it means that the mark is her
source to life. After the tragic death of Georgiana, Aylmer finally realizes that the birthmark really had
been her mortality. Aylmer is so deeply caught up in forcefully trying to get Georgiana to let him
remove her birthmark, he does not recognize the true perfection that was there all along. Symbolism
helps the theme that is portrayed throughout the story that trying to be flawless results in a
devastation.

Diana Baumrind developed her ideas of parenting styles and their effects by studying 100 preschool children and their parents. Although most of the subjects of her study were Californian middle class European Americans, thus not offering much diversity in her study, the results were very persuasive and interesting. Finally there is a fourth parenting style which isn t grouped with the other three this is the neglectful/uninvolved parenting style which is described as an indifferent approach towards parenting where the parent isn t aware of the child s life, the parent is just uninvolved and doesn t care to punish or praise the child. There are implications depending on the type of parenting style that was used on the child. If a child grew up with authoritarian parents for example would grow up to be well behaved, obedient but unhappy, likely depressed, and would also likely leave home before the age of 20. Children that grow up with permissive parents would grow up to be dependent on parents living at home into adulthood, would lack emotional control, self control and would be unhappy as adults. Finally the child that grows up with authoritative parents, it seems would grow up to be the best adjusted out of the three styles. A child with authoritative parents would be well adjusted, happy, generous, and successful. They are also well regarded by others especially in western individualistic societies. Now the text does warn that the parenting style which ends up working the best for each child should be dependent on various factors such as the child s temperament, these are after all generalizations. Parenting styles and the consequences of parenting styles is very interesting because it can help parents ensure that their child grows up to be well adjusted. If parents ... (Marshall Cavendish, 2002) Daphnia have a hard external skeleton with jointed appendages and limbs. The head contains a large central eye which is made of two eyes joined together. Daphnia has two pairs of antennae which are used for swimming. Each daphnia has five pairs of limbs. These limbs lie in a certain space under the body bounded by the carapace. (Marshall Cavendish, 2002) A carapace is a hard upper shell or chitinous outer covering on the back of some animals. The daphnia is well preserved because of its shells which are composed of chitin. The usual size of this microorganism is about 0.2 0.3 mm; they look like flat disks. Their bodies are divided into three parts head, thorax, and abdomen. The head is typically dome shaped with five pairs of appendages. Among these five are two pairs of antennae; there is a small pair and a larger pair. The smaller pair of antennae serves as a sensory function and the larger one is used for swimming. The other three appendages purpose is to secure food they intake. (Michael Hutchins, 2003) The thorax holds four to six pairs of legs that are used for gathering food, filtering water, or grasping mates. There are over 400 species of daphnia and they are distributed worldwide. Daphnia uses their thoracic legs to produce a constant current of water; this allows them to filter food ... Wave Patterns The Effect Mixing Has on the Wave Patterns of a Song Anna Rezhko Grade 10 Woodbridge High School January 16, 2014 Miss Cooper Abstract The purpose of the experiment was to find the objective difference between an original song and an acoustic or a remix version of the same song. The expectation was that the difference lies in the amount of contrast between the highest and lowest amplitude. Sound waves are created when an object vibrates back and forth and they have amplitudes, wavelengths, and frequencies. Sixty songs were analyzed in Audacity, a music program. We have landed on the moon, illuminated the world with the electric light, and cured illnesses that used kill thousands. In a world where we look to technology to answer all of life s problems, we are faced with a dilemma. How can our technology possibly keep up with our modern needs? In the first book of the Neanderthal Parallax, Hominids, by Robert J. Sawyer, we are transported into a parallel universe. In this unpolluted world that is populated by Neanderthals, there is a sophisticated computing system, we know as a quantum computer. As of 2014, quantum computers are still in their infancy, and have been prophesied since the early 1990s. However, work on building a quantum computer, and creating algorithms compatible with one, began around the turn of the century. As one of only seven sci fi writers in the world, and the only Canadian, who has won all three of the top international awards for science fiction, he is known for the amount of research and probable vision intertwined into the technology in his books. A quantum computer is a sophisticated computer device that can actually calculate the use of quantum mechanical phenomena, to perform operations on data. Basically, it s one of the few devices that can calculate the quantum theory. Quantum theory is also classified as quantum mechanics, which is a branch of physics that deals with physical phenomena inside of particles at nanoscopic scales (Wilczek). It ... It has been read and loved dearly by people throughout the world, due to the fact that it has been printed in over 200 languages and is considered the first novel in English. A lot attributes to this popularity. The storyline, characters, and plot are all adventurous and easy to get sucked into, leading to readers being unable to put the book down. This would have led to his death had Evangelist not turned him around. He also manages to overcome temptation by staying on the path as well as remembering scripture and trusting in the Lord. Throughout the temptations, Christian overcomes with the help of God. Christian s burden and the things surrounding it represent much. Entrepreneurs Are Born and Made Introduction Entrepreneurs are born not made There are two sides to every debate, and the what makes an entrepreneur argument has raged for decades with neither side able to conclusively prove their case. There are many who believe that an entrepreneur must possess personality traits such as vision, passion and drive that are innate and cannot be taught. Others argue that the skills of evaluating opportunities, motivating people and operating a business are easily passed on to eager students looking to be entrepreneurs. The truth is that both sides are right and it s time for a compromise: Entrepreneurs are born and made. Some psychological models assert that a proportion of our personality is inborn and permanent (Hollander, 1971), that a psychological core at the center of our personality gives us enduring, inner characteristics. Hans Eysenck (1965) suggests that our motivation and emotion are related to biological differences in brain function and proposed that 75% of our personality is based on genetic influence and 25% on environmental influence. Research by Peter Whybrow (1999) on identical twins separated at birth examined how their different environments shaped their personalities. He found that around 40% of personality should be credited to genetics, with 60% determined by outside factors. It is widely agreed that certain personality traits are important to being a successful entrepreneur. If we are not born with those innate characteristics, psychologists believe that we do have some ability to adopt new ones or influence ourselves to a certain degree. Another example of the need to be born to be an entrepreneur comes from a study conducted on of more than 200 U.S. entrepreneurs by Northeastern University s School of Technological Entrepreneurship where 61% claim they were inspired to start their own companies by their innate desire and determination, rather than by their education or work experience (Taylor, 2006). • 31. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Boomers Communication Weaknesses Boomers Each generation s weakness is a subset of their communication preferences and strengths. Boomers preferred method of communication necessitates multiple meetings, which can be rather time consuming for other employees of a company. Boomers have also grown accustomed to email, and are less likely to keep up with current technology trends. As of January 2017, new trends have signaled the decline of email in the workplace, according to Laurie Beaver of Business Intelligence: informal and engaging social networking apps are convenient, easy to use, and fast (2017). They may also take longer to get feedback to people, because it is in their nature to take their time to provide thorough and complete feedback. With older methods of communication on the decline, and new technologies emerging, Boomers need to avoid the obsolescence of their current skill set by following new trends in information technologies. Gen X Again, this generation inhabits a space between two very different generations, one which moves at a steady pace, and one which constantly adjusts to the newest trends. Gen X lies somewhere in the middle, where they rely on techniques they re comfortable with, without growing complacent. Members of Generation X, according to De La Torre, grew up more skeptical of authority and rules, placing high value on independence and flexibility (De La Torre, 2016). Communication with Gen Xers needs to focus on meeting that preference, otherwise it will be inefficient. Work tends to run on their own schedule, which can slow down internal processes and result in conservative deadlines to allow scheduling discrepancies (Perine, 2012). Efficient time use both complements and conflicts with setting a schedule independently: when focused, Gen Xers can increase productivity and accomplish high volumes of work; when distracted, they inhibit their teams and decrease overall productivity. Millennials prefer brief, frequent communications with their colleagues, which can interrupt others work and cause distraction. Gross and Acquisti s proposition to information sharing states that, users may be pragmatically publishing personal information because the benefits they expect from public disclosure surpass its perceived costs (10).
