The Influence Of The Lewis And Clark Expedition
The Lewis and Clark Expedition was also known as the Corps of Discovery Expedition, it had a
significant impact throughout American History. In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson, as a highlight
of his political career he initiated this expedition shortly after the Purchase of Louisiana and it was the
first government sponsored exploration. The goal of this expedition was to find a route across the
continent to reach the Pacific Ocean and also make a general map of western terrain; to establish
relationships with Native Americans and trade with different native tribes; to collect information of
natural resources and to study on the wild animals and plants in the west. In 1804, a group of 33
American soldiers led by Meriwether Lewis, the commander

Deafness is NOT a Disability I don t remember much about my first two years of school; matter of
fact the only thing I do remember is what my parents have told me. I do, however remember sitting
helpless, lost in my own world as I watched the others in the classroom scream with excitement as
they recited the ABC s and sang songs while sitting on a large rug. I giggled and laughed along with
them, somewhat mimicking them. I recall my teacher, many times, redirecting my attention to the
lesson. I wasn t a bit interested in anything outside playtime; or of course lunch. First grade was no
different. I was much less amused by reading and writing; which my teacher, Mrs. Garcia felt was the
most important in her class. I hated reading. I hated writing more. I would hold my breath and sit
quietly in a corner when it came to reading aloud with the class. Needless to say it tended to call
attention to myself and I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My parents made my home school lesson an integral part of our daily lives. I would be asked to read
menus, roadside signs, directions, weather reports, movie time listings, and other everyday
information. They would also make sure they always had something for me to read in my spare time
when waiting for appointments or even riding in our car.
My mother began purchasing books that I was interested in. She created our own little make shift
library for me in our home and made it mandatory that I read independently at least 20 min a day. She
also bought index cards and started introducing sight words to our daily schedule. These were soon
introduced to me as spelling words. I had to write these 3 times each and I tested on these on Fridays.
If I ever questioned how to spell a word; it too was added to an index card and then added to my test. I
was also encouraged and taught how to use a dictionary independently to avoid these added

The Harvard Referencing Style In Academic Literature
Introduction Referencing is one of the most important aspects of any academic literature in the
modern day scenario. It is the main way through which someone acknowledges the fact that they have
borrowed the ideas of someone else, and have used their work for citation ion their work. There are
several different kinds of referencing system among which the Harvard referencing style is one of the
most popular. The different aspects of the Harvard style along with the main methods through which
the style is implemented have been detailed and discussed. Herein, this study is about the Harvard
referencing style and detailing the actual point of referencing in the first place. The Actual Point of
Referencing Referencing is extremely important while compiling an academic file, as it is the main
method of showing acknowledgement to the authors of the work which has been used for ideas in the
said academic literature. A failure in this regard leads to people developing the misconception that the
author has cheated or plagiarised someone else s work and is now claiming it as their own. Any kind
of plagiarism is considered to be a serious offence, especially in the academic circles. Being accused
of the malpractice of plagiarism is one of the worst hits that the reputation of a researcher can ever
receive. Indeed, it is significantly difficult to recover a proper reputation once accusations of this kind
are made towards someone. For students, being accused of the

The Role Of Terrorism And Terrorism
Terrorists have one goal: create national fear and chaos while harming not only citizens, but the
environment. First responders are responsible for more than the citizens or victims, they are assigned
to assist with prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery (Department of Homeland
Security, 2016). The five core capabilities ensure that the responders are prepared for terrorist events.
Understanding the threat is the first task is countering and responding to terrorist events. Having an
understanding of the situation, or possible situation at hand, responders may have a higher possibility
of countering the attack before it does any harm. Risks to first responders, the response actions, and
potential outcomes of terrorist incidents are all important topics when the threat of a terrorist attack or
events has struck the United States. Terrorism is the unlawful use of weapons and intimidation to
inflict violence among citizens. Recent examples of terrorist attacks in the United States include the
attacks on 11 September 2001, al Qaeda members hijacked four U.S. airlines. Another example is the
Boston Marathon bombing on 15 April 2015, killing three and wounding almost three hundred.
Unfortunately, the United States were unable to counter these attacks or prevent them from happening
because of the resources terrorists were able to use. The amount of risk first responders deal with is
overwhelming. They not only put their own lives at risk but they also have the

How Does Golding Use The Power In Lord Of The Flies
Do you think if you were in a situation where you were immovable and stranded on an island, that you
d become savage? Would you stick by the laws and stay civilized? Even if you were as proper as the
queen? I believe that people in general, would become savages or just do anything in their power to
survive. Simon was one of the boys who were on the island with the boys and he was on a mission to
give news to the others, the boys were dancing around and eating, they thought Simon was the beast
and killed him. The boys were so crazy, that they turned savage just to survive, and that Simon was
assassinated by the boys in Jack s tribe and the others because they were afraid it was the beast. In
chapter 9 of Lord of the Flies, William Golding employs symbolism, natural imagery, and animal
imagery to convey the theme that the need for power can cause people to abuse their power and break
rules. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

community to reduce malnutrition (stunting, underweight and wasting).
Above half of the community gets Water from unprotected sources such as dug well, spring

What Is Chipotle s Competitive Advantage
Chipotle s competitive advantage is they are the only restaurant that is environmentally conscious.
They have tried to reduce their carbon footprint on the earth atmosphere by focusing on a program
called Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) which uses solar energy for
electricity to reduce the energy consumption during peak hours. They only deal with the freshest, most
natural, and organic ingredients. They work with local farmers to give their customers the best taste of
fast casual dining. Also, Chipotle have started a program that allows them to increase local sourcing to
35% by using produce that is grown 350 miles from their restaurants. This program allows Chipotle to
use seasonal produce through a network of 25 local farms that reduce the use of fossil fuel and boost
the local farmers revenue.
Another reason being environmental friendly is Chipotle s competitive advantage is co CEO Steven
Ells understood the damage that concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO) caused to the
environment. When Ells visited several CAFOs, he seen that these structures had a negative impact on
water and air quality which, is regulated by the EPA. He also noticed that many CAFOs had water

CVE 2017 11292 and provide mitigations and solutions. CVE 2017 11292 Kaspersky has discovered
on October 10, 2017, an Adobe Flash zero day exploit. Adobe assigned it CVE 2017 11292. The
payload is delivered, most commonly by a socially engineered email, through a Microsoft Office
document. Embedded within the document is an ActiveX object which contains the Flash exploit as
shown in the image below. (GReAT, 2017) The Flash object contains an ActionScript which is
responsible for extracting the exploit using a custom packer. This custom packer has been seen in
other FinSpy exploits, according to Kaspersky. The main exploit is a memory corruption vulnerability
that is within the com.adobe.tvsdk.mediacore.BufferControlParameters class. If successful, attackers
will gain read / write operations within memory; which is only stage one of the attack. ... Show more

Movie Analysis of Jaws .
Released in 1975, Jaws was probably one of the best adventure, action, and suspense films of that era.
Directed by Steven Spielberg with the following staring main cast members Roy Scheider as Martin
Bordy (chief police officer), Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper (marine biologist), Robert Shaw as
Quint (local fisherman), Murray Hamilton as Larry Vaughan (town mayor). Jaws the movie, is not like
any other any other fish story. The film is about a gigantic 26 foot shark that has an appetite for
people; how horrifying is that? The unusual story takes place on the seasides of Amity Island. When
Chief Brody uncovers the partial body of a teenage girl with shark like bites, Chief Brody contacts a
shark specialist to verify if the bite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His acts of heroism are acted out several times throughout the film. Of course, he also had his boat
captain and a marine biologist along for the wild ride. This plays out to be a team like environment, in
which they contributed their different individual strengths towards the common goal; hunting down
the massive man eating shark.
This film also used countless props; however, there is truly only one that needs to be discussed, and
goes by the name of Jaws. This massive great white shark was a 26 foot mechanical beast. This
enormous steel gutted fish was connected to a crane arm which allowed the shark to tread just
underneath the surface of the water at a rapid rate. This gives the realistic feel of the amount of power
this shark has; being able to swim at such rates of speed. This adds to the fright element of movie
because we all know that big animals can be intimidating. Animals that are big and fast are even
scarier. Animals that are big, fast, and hungry, are a force to be reckoned with.
The film, Jaws, uses a variety of different photographic techniques. Panning was used quite often in
this movie to remind the viewer that they were a long distance from the shoreline. Additionally, plenty
of filming was done underwater. This allowed the audience to get a realistic feel for the surrounding
environment. The brilliant underwater imagery resulted with help from the naturally dark and chilling
emptiness of the foreign ocean world. A notable climatic shot is

Essay On American Persona
The American Persona
To be considered an American, individuals do not have to be white, blond hair, blue eyes, and tall. Nor
do green cards or legal statues make a true American. The persistence of an individual is what truly
makes up the American Persona. As history has been repeated, Americans do whatever possible to
thrive, they may take a break but, they never give up. The American dream is what many foreigners
would desire to have. America is not only made up of whites but, the many different cultures of
foreigners who had traveled to the Americas.
To be a member of the American society an individual must be an active participant in the system.
One must go out and vote for what they believe is better for themselves and the economy. In the case
of Armed Forces, members must be willing to put their own lives at risk for the better of the
Americans. These beliefs and active roles have shaped America into one of the best global leading
economies. Each American plays a major role in the American system some of them form part of the
labor force and some others form the elite. However, in some instances individuals are not effective
enough to impact the economy, and they become useless. Furthermore, social security number, and
legal status does not define Americans, instead their beliefs, knowledge, and capacity of individuals is

Analysis Of Unwind By Neal Lassiter
Although the population of the world is upwards of seven billion people, society is still an extremely
unwelcoming place for people struggling with their lives. Important figures such as Gandhi, Martin
Luther King Jr., or Abraham Lincoln stood up for issues like slavery, peace, and racism that no other
person would care about. Even with the incredible advances they made in humanity though, there are
still an unbelievable amount of conflicts between races, gender, and overall acceptance in today s
world. People are idly standing by as the world crumbles away, but some people such as social
activists are trying to make a difference like Connor Lassiter. In Unwind, by Neal Shusterman, the
main protagonist, Connor Lassiter, was a disgrace to his parents through his misbehaviour in school.
He became an Unwind, who would be taken apart to serve as replacement body parts along with many
others his age. While many others were accepting it as their fate, Connor fought back. He stood up to
Unwinding himself and also brought other Unwind s voices together to form a powerful stance. His
will to simply exist empowered other Unwinds and ultimately changed their society forever, saving
thousands to Unwinds to come. In the spur of the moment, Connor decides not to surrender to the
police, but instead grabs a hostage. Connor s whole life turns upside down as he becomes a criminal
and goes on the run. Although he was brought to the harvest camp and was about to die, explosions

The Issues Of Financial Reform Within The Un,...
The issues of Financial Reform within the UN, peacekeeping, and the Veto power are all interrelated.
Veto countries abuse the powers they are given by refusing to pay, or contributing little to the UN and
allowing the weaker countries to do the dirty work. Peace Keeping is, perhaps, The most important of
the UN’s duties. But without the funds and equipment of the veto countries Peacekeeping forces will
become only a memory. The main problem facing the UN, despite the issues with Veto powers,
Peacekeeping, and the Americans, is the organization s financial situation. It has been forced to begin
a lengthy restructuring to make it more cost effective due to the lack of funds it is encountering. In a
recent UN report entitled, “Renewing the United Nations: A Programme for Reform” the UN
officials began to address this problem. The report outlined the course which will be taken in order to
balance the budget. Since the organization itself is completely reliant upon the money it receives from
it’s members it is almost helpless in its hopes to move forward. The only way of punishing members
who do not pay is to kick them out of the organization and cut off the benefits they receive. The
current financial reform of the UN is very complex. It will involve, for the most part, cuts in
employee’s and an increased efficiency from it’s four departments. These departments being Peace
and Security; Economic and Social Affairs; Development Co operation; and Humanitarian Affairs.

Answer:
To make the circuit cold we have to adjust the voltage, because the v is proportional to i the current,
which is proportional to the temperature.

The higher the voltage, the hotter the temperature will be.

Resistance in a Wire :
1. In this sim, what variables are you seeing? Write the formula below, and indicate the units used to
measure each one.
Answer:
The variables been shown in the simulater are the voltage, current, and ressistance. V(volts) =
I(Ampers)* R(Ohms).
2. Try increasing the resistivity of the resistor, ρ. How does this change the look of the resistor?
Describe how that relates to the formula you just wrote (direct, indirect relationships, etc.). What
happens to the value of R (Resistance)? Is this something that can be changed in a resistor that you
would buy in a store to use in a circuit?
Answer:
Increasing the resistivity the resistor gets bigger, which directly effects the current by making it
smaller. Indirectly the voltage to push the current through has to be stronger to push the current
through. The value of R gets larger, you can change the resistance, but you would have to change out
the resistor element to do this.

geography helped shaped their initial isolationist policies. Due to their location in the Bay of Bengal,
the island helps strengthen their isolationist principles. i. Since it is an island, the shore of North

firearm is then fired to see if it matches the bullets and cartridge cases. Another thing that is examined
are the bullets to see if the markings match the ones that were test fired as each firearm produces it s

Elizabeth Anscombe Intention
Elaborate on Elizabeth Anscombe s account of the relation between acting intentionally and acting for
a reason.
Introduction
During the course of this assignment we will explore whether whatever is done intentionally is done
for a reason by taking a look at Anscombe s set of notes called Intention. Elizabeth Anscombe was one
of the most influential women philosophers and a very important twentieth century philosopher. She
translated some of Ludwig Wittgenstein s work; hence the references in her book Intention.
My understanding of the relation between acting intentionally and acting for a reason was found by
understanding the concepts she defines and analyses which are mostly found in the early stages of her
notes. Anscombe defines intention as acting under a description . What distinguishes us rational agents
is the capacity to step outside ourselves and deliberate about different possible courses of action i.e.
we can think hypothetically. This capacity appears to be evident in language. It enables us not only to
act voluntarily but also intentionally.
Different Senses of Intention
An agent is in the privileged position to declare one s intentions. The description of one s actions and
one s intentions are the same. Anscombe starts off her notes by describing three different ways in
which we speak about intention in our language:
1. Intention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Kenneth Krueger Research Paper
Born in 1966, Kenneth Krueger was the second child of Frederick and Loretta Krueger; soon before
Freddy murdered his wife in cold blood, an act of brutality witnessed only by his older daughter,
Kathryn both children would be relocated, following Freddy s capture and murder at the hands of the
parents of Springwood, taking justice into their own hands for his laundry list of awful crimes. Grown
up in neighboring areas outside Springwood, Kenneth meant to serve as a sort of conduit from an
early age for his father, brought back to life by means of the supernatural Dream Demons, who roam
the subconscious minds of the living, dredging to find souls twisted and evil enough to finish what
they had started; corrupting dreams and reality. Kenneth s subconscious mind was fed for years with
images and visions of the horrors his father would wreak upon the children of Springwood, in their
dreams past, present, and future all detached and unstuck in the vast dream space of his own mind
leaving him to feel detached, isolated, and largely unresponsive to the rest of the world around him;
making him more privy to Freddy s dark influence, as he grew older and more susceptible to promised
grandeur as his own personal heir to the throne (when, in fact, it was Kathryn who was Freddy s actual

Abstract Conventional password schemes are vulnerable to shoulder surfing attack and many other
attacks like brute force attack and dictionary based attack. Traditional alphabetical and numeric
passwords have disadvantages from a usability standpoint, and these usability problems translate into
security problems. The system combines the applications effectively in a way to transfer data securely.
System provides data security with the help of ColorCombination authentication, and cryptography
using QR Code Techniques. The universal technique for providing confidentiality of transmitted data
is cryptography. The system provides a method to encoding the data using QR Code. The information
is mainly present in the Color Strip of 8 bits color combination. In this system data is securely
transmitted with the help of 8 bit colors acting as security element thereby providing authentication
using The QR Code.

The War After War Since 1980
Study Purposes
Hawkar Oagaz
Iraq has been in the war since 1980. War after war. These devastated wars had made the country on of
the worst in the word in many aspects. Of course, they had influenced the life of each and every
person living there. I have seen the war and saw all affects that the war could left behind. From
destroyed cites to desperate people that have no hope to rebuild their country and their lives. It
affected me personally and shaped my personality. When I see all these pessimistic and dark
atmosphere, I feel there should be some people that can at least change this mode to better one. This
made me to feel responsible to do something and be part to what brings happiness to those people.
Therefore, it has always been my dream to be a productive person in the community. I think one of the
best way to be a positive element in the society is to be properly educated both mentally and
technically.
In Iraqi still most of the government regularities are done via paper and people have to wait a long
time to do simple things that will take minutes if done via a computerized systems. Thus,
computerizing governmental offices has to be considered as an urgent issue and government has to
work on it seriously. To accomplish the process of developing IT infrastructure and computerized
governmental offices, we need a lot of computer scientists and software engineering expertise. The
main problem in Iraq is the lack of expertise. However many private universities have

Groupon Executive Summary
Groupon Review
Groupon has been called the fastest growing company in history. The idea of offering real discounts to
people in local markets, providing signature daily deals and exposing people to new products and
services at deeply discounted rates has attracted a groundswell of consumer support and influenced
other companies to start similar businesses.
The company attracts a well educated, affluent crowd that responds enthusiastically to local restaurant
deals. Restaurants can reach a targeted crowd without investing any money in advance and use their
inventory and services to pay for their marketing while hopefully upselling customers and landing
long term regular customers.
Background
Andrew Mason founded a website in 2007 that was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Local campaigns reach the people that restaurants most want to attract.
Although aimed at attracting new customers, existing customers often flock to the website to buy
coupons, which is a big problem for restaurants. Another concern is that merchants are essentially
selling food at about 23 percent of regular prices.
Effectiveness
Groupon achieves spectacular results in selling coupons, but those deals often go to people who are
just trying food that they couldn t or wouldn t normally eat. Regular customers also buy coupons to
save money. Restaurants must always be careful not to devalue their restaurants and menu prices by
offering too many discounts. Customers might get used to paying the discounted prices and refuse to
pay full price when discounts aren t available.
Targeting the Right Customers
Upscale, fast casual and full service restaurants can find a ready audience at Groupon. Even fast food
companies occasionally advertise specials, but the nature of daily deals lends itself more to higher
priced meals where customers can save about 50

The new service economy has positive and negative aspects. The United States labor was once based

Analytical Essay Bicycle Safety On Essex
Bicycle safety on Essex The following analytical essay will analyze and interpret issues that are
interesting, puzzling and controversial in the short story Bicycle Safety on Essex . The essay will
mainly deal with issues such as racism and racial prejudice, which are either interesting, puzzling and
controversial. First, there s the interesting issue with Cleve. According to Noah, the humiliating event
in Essex was not the first time Cleve was questioned by the authorities. This can be seen in the
following quote If you fucking assholes arrest him again one more time just because he s black and I
m not, I m going to kill myself! . This shows that Noah, at such a young age, knows that Cleve is
being detained and questioned by officers based only on his skin color, which in fact can be called
racial prejudice. Although it is unfortunate for Cleve and Noah, it is quite uncommon for a dreaded
black man to walk around with a small white boy and especially at night. ... Show more content on

The most puzzling part of the story is how the narrator ended up sitting in the back of a civilian police
car and his description of the two police officers. This can be seen in the following quote And I d

tells us that he has spent the whole night in a bogus taxi with two police officers which he describes as
white beef . This bursts his objective view throughout the story, therefore making him a subjective
narrator. A point which has not been mentioned yet is how the police had allowed a writer to ride with
undercover officers, which is very puzzling since the writer can interfere with the officer s

India s National Language, Pakistan
There was incredible suffering that the Partion of India caused in areas of Birtish India through

sides of this newly created border. One of the best, and perhaps most famous, partition story clearly
reveals this sense of bewilderment, Toba Tek Singh was written in Urdu, Pakistan s national language,
by Sadat Hasan Manto, a Kashmiri who left his home in 1948 and moved to Karachi, Pakistan s
capital. The story recounts the effects of partition on a very particular portion of the population.
The 1955 short story, writen by Saadat Hasan Manto, was based on inmates of lunatic asylums being
split in the wake of the Partition with Hindu and Sikh inmates being transferred to India and Muslim
inmates going to Pakistan. It focused on a particular inmate, Bishan Singh. Bishan Singh is a Sikh
inmate who, fifteen years earlier, had gone mad and was admitted to the asylum by his family.
Everyone in the asylum called him Toba Tek Singh, the name of his village. Almost bald, his legs
swollen, because he is always seen standing and occasionally leaning against the wall, he had the habit
of speaking this nonsensical phrase, Uper the gur gur the annexe the bay dhayana the mung the dal of
the laltain. No one could understand what the gibberish meant but it may be the message Manto tries
to display, that the partion is nonsense. From the story we learn a little bit about Bishan s family and

Theories Of Natural Selection And Psychoanalytic...
Charles Darwin and Sigmund Freud are both widely known respectively for their natural selection and
psychoanalytic personality theories. Charles Darwin helped further the field of evolutionary
psychology while Sigmund Freud helped discover the unconscious which is still debated to this day
about whether it is real. Darwin s natural selection theory talks about how organisms adapt to survive
and the two types of sexual selection which is intersexual and intrasexual selection. Freud s theory of
psychoanalytic personality talks about how the id, ego, and superego affects our behavior and talks
about how our unconscious is a very important aspect in our lives. Both theories comprehensiveness,
theoretical soundness, and empirical value have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those that survive these forces, passes it on to their offspring and increases their survivability during
these conditions while those that don t survive these forces, dies off and their genes don t pass off to
future generations. These things listed above regarding natural selection shows that organisms adapt to
survive. Darwin also proposed that there are two types of sexual selection which is intrasexual
competition and intersexual selection. Intrasexual competition is when two of the same species that is
of the same sex go against each other and the winner has a higher selection of mates. Usually the
winner has better qualities that help increase survivability. They pass their genes on to future
generations which helps increase survivability over the whole species eventually. Intersexual selection
is when mates are chosen because of the certain qualities that an organism is looking for. Species with
the characteristics desired tend to mate more which means most of those genes carry over to future
generations. Genes tend to slowly disappear from the species if they don t mate as often. The
psychoanalytic personality theory is composed of three structures of the mind: the id, ego, and
superego. According to Freud, we are born with the id and is where all our urges and drives occur. We
just want whatever we want and want it right then and there. This is called the pleasure principle.

Strategies For An Employee From A Tax Perspective
ISOs are often preferred by startups as it s supposed to be better for an employee from a tax
perspective. This assumes that (1) AMT won t be triggered and (2) you ll get low long term capital
gains rate by holding the stock for the appropriate holding periods. However, often you either run
afoul of the AMT trap, or don t hold the stock long enough with the complicated 1 year + 2 year
requirement, or the spread at exercise is zero or small, so the difference wouldn t matter anyway.
NSOs do have a slightly higher tax because of the employment taxes. Overall, it s not clear the ISO is
that much better for employees, so many people argue for NSOs instead. Even more confusingly, ISOs
can make it harder to meet the long term capital gains holding period. Many people expect early
exercise together with an 83(b) election will help them hold the stock longer, to qualify for long term
capital gains. While this is true for NSOs, there is a murky part of the rules on ISOs that implies that
even with an 83(b) election, the capital gain holding period does not begin until the shares actually
vest. So, if you want to immediately exercise an option and file an Section 83(b) election, and you
might have liquidity soon, it s better if you can have it be an NSO.

Becoming A Single-Parent
The pain of losing someone close to you, especially a parent, is never something you can ever quite
articulate. But, the lessons you learn and the person you become in the aftermath is a little easier to
explain. My mother was my best friend. She was ornery, funny, and brilliant in her own way. She
always knew how to soothe me and she always made the effort to, even when she was combatting her
own issues. In 2009, my parents divorced due to my father s anger issues and drug use. In addition to
becoming a single parent, she was also physically disabled due to work injuries and dealt with pain
almost constantly. Her death was May 26th, 2015, just six days after the end of my freshman year. The
exact details are burned into my memory, but at the same time the entire day is a blur. I remember the
train of emotions hurtling in myself and in my loved ones; the panic, the rage, and the absolute
heartbreak I experienced during what I dub The First Year .

Alternate Endings in Anouilh s Medea Essay
Alternate Endings in Anouilh s Medea
To what purpose does Jean Anouilh alter the central conflicts and characters in his retelling of Medea
? In the classic play, Medea escapes without punishment and we are told as an audience it is not our
place to question the motives and/or actions of the gods. Within the framework of modern,
psychologically rendered characters and in the absence of supernatural meddling, Anouilh attempts
not only to question the motives but to posit answers to the open ended questions left by Euripides.
The dynamic between divine and human will is reshaped with this goal in mind. This change makes a
significant impact upon Medea s ability to rediscover and reconcile her identity with her actions as
well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the characters, especially Jason and Medea, do not acknowledge divine forces as potent
elements shaping their actions, they are keenly aware of their recurring roles throughout literary
history. They force the reader to make a more substantial connection or comparison with the previous
work. One might try to recast the earlier analogy, replacing the Greek gods with Anouilh. The
characters are his tools, his puppets. This, however, is too simplistic. Anouilh himself must
acknowledge the limits of the tale, not simply the sequence of events, but themes and ideas within it, if
he is to retell it. In this sense Anouilh is confined and he makes the reader aware of this fact. Within
these self imposed limits, though, Anouilh is free to revise, review, elucidate, and articulate the ideas,
actions, and opinions of each character.
And it is to this end that Jason is raised by Anouilh from the ranks of dramatic foil to an emotional and
psychological match for Medea. Jason is left spinning out of control at the conclusion of the original
play, wondering how this could have happened and why. Medea escapes untouched and the Chorus is
left to restore order. Anouilh s Jason is faced with the murder of his children, fiancé, and future father
in law as well as Medea s suicide. Medea, consumed by the fires of her own passion and madness,
takes her own life. He is obviously devastated but able to respond

Clever Tom Clinch Going To Be Hanged
Comparing A London Fete and Clever Tom Clinch Going to be Hanged
This essay will contrast the two poems A London Fete written by
Coventry Patmore and Clever Tom Clinch Going To Be Hanged by
Jonathan Swift. Both of these poems are about the hangings in the 17th 18th century. A London Fete
was written in the 18th century, whereas Clever Tom
Clinch was written in the 17th century. This could have made a slight variation in what the poet had
written because of the time variation.
For instance nowadays we are more civilised because of the new laws have been brought in.
Although both of the poems were written about hangings, A London Fete was more persistent on the
crowd s behaviour and response rather than the condemned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I think that the crowd reacted the way they did is because everything adapts to its environment. So
going back to the title it s showing that the crowd is having a tremendous time.
The title Clever Tom Clinch is ironic because the word Clever is used to describe Tom Clinch. In
reality I believe that Tom Clinch is attempting to be clever whereas if he were intelligent he would
have never been caught in the first place. His waistcoat and stockings and breeches were white this
could have shown that he was witty because his garments were white which associates with an angel.
He considered that he could have swindled them into believing that he was innocent.
Jonathan Swift wrote the poem Clever Tom Clinch using swift and dexterous movements. He had also
used rhyming couplets throughout the poem. My opinion for why the poet decided to do this is
because when the reader is reading, he is reading in a continuous rhythm and flow.
This helps the reader to carry on reading. Clever Tom Clinch has been written in the form of a ballad,
which means that there is a narrator, which is telling you what is happening throughout the poem. For
instance, As Clever Tom Clinch, while the rabble was, rode stately through Holborn, to die in his
calling . The poet is telling us that
Tom Clinch was going through Holborn, and that the

Historical Development Of Urban Development
Introduction In the context of urban history, infrastructure can make or break a community. In the
United States, the historical development of urban infrastructure has both formed and followed the
inscriptions of race, class, and gender on the urban landscape. Ample in more affluent communities,
usually absent or minimal in historic concentrations of urban poverty, infrastructure does not serve its
public equally. Some cities have a more equitable distribution of infrastructure than others, but many
urban neighborhoods remain woefully underserved, (Avila 4 5). My hometown of Tolleson, Arizona is
a small city of six thousand, five hundred residents with a predominantly Mexican population, with
nearly 78% of the residents declaring themselves as Mexican in the 2010 census. The focus of my
research will be on the power of Latinx representation Latinx majority cities governments, using
Tolleson as a special case study, whose city council is majority Mexican. Tolleson has been making
great strides to fix up the town and provide more jobs and opportunities to its residents, and in doing
so, the city has asserted itself as a major example for its innovation and strengthening infrastructure.
For example, Tolleson was the only city in Arizona to not lay off employees during the 2008 Great
Recession, and the Paseo de Luces (Path of Lights), which was created by Mayor Adolfo F. GĂĄmez,

Anselm s Ontological Argument Essay
Among the most famous proofs for God s existence is Anselm s Ontological Argument . Although this
widely read philosophical discourse has its fair share of critics, it is a sound and valid argument for the
existence of God with true premises and a true conclusion. This paper will present Anselm s argument,
discussing both premises and conclusion, and defend it against the retort made by Anselm s
contemporary, Gaunilo, using the logic of Anselm s rejoinder. Anselm s argument can be summarized
by the following points: 1. God is something than which no greater being can be thought . 2.
Something than which no greater being can be thought is able to exist in understanding and thought. 3.
It is greater to exist in reality than to simply exist in thought. 4. If that which no greater being can be
thought exists only in understanding, then that which no greater being can be thought is not that which
no greater being can be thought, as a greater being would exist in reality. This is a contradiction. 5.
Therefore, That which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

grasp what is meant by the definition that which no greater being can be thought , then one must

The Significance of Australian Youth Culture and Radio
Today the world in which we live in can be seen as a vastly media integrated way of life. Whether it is
film, television or advertising, these forms of media constantly surround us, influencing and changing
the way we live. But what about radio? Some say that radio is dying, that its use has become useless,
that it was only an aid of assistance during the early and mid 1900 s. But the way I see it, I think that
radio is more relevant and significant today than it ever was, especially for the diverse Australian
youth cultures. Their lifestyle, education, political views and social aspects come under a large role
due to what they listen to over the radio. So how do radio stations maintain and attract their listeners?
What sort of impacts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Australian youths of different ethnicities are searching for more innovative and creative ways of
sourcing and utilizing information in order to exchange their culture and way of life with the wider
community so that they are able to gain a sense of belonging. By broadcasting the news and issues of
a local community and the country of their origin in their own language, it builds and strengthens new
communities as well as establishing confidence and providing the essential atmosphere for the
growing Australian youth.
For many people, community radio broadcasting plays a significant role in their lives especially for
those who come from country or rural areas. As highlighted before, community broadcasting develops
a sense of Australian identity, character and cultural diversity. Statistics show that the 9.5 million
people that tune in to community radio each month state that they value their local content and diverse
local music that their community radio produces for them. With regards to the Australian youth,
community radio is of great importance as youths in rural areas are able to keep up to date with
current news as well as their local news as opposed to more urbanised youths where their news is
constantly provided with other forms of media during their everyday lives. Community radio gives
everyone, not just youths, the right set of circumstances needed to keep up to date and involved with

Fitzgerald s Use of Language in The Great Gatsby Essay
In the novel The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald uses tone, diction, syntax and imagery to voice Nick s
perception of the world around him. In this passage his use of language is used repetitively to convey
Jordan Baker, Daisy and Tom Buchanan s lives. On the outside it may look like they all are living a
perfect and ideal life, however Fitzgerald s illuminating use of language highlights how far from
perfect their lives truly are. When he first walks in Nick judges Tom and Daisy s lives based on the
appearance of the house, perfect and romanticized, yet he soon learns that this first impression is an
overstatement. Nick s use of diction such as fragilely bound (12) and French windows (12) connote

the color white. Nick states white in two different meanings, at the beginning of the passage ?white? is
used to reflect elegance and purity but as Nick spends more time the ?white? in the house he learns
that the color symbolizes the stereotypical façade that every character is hiding behind, a dull,
vacuous, and bland guise. Fitzgerald uses white to express the many personalities, such as those of
Daisy and Jordan. Interestingly, the white appearance would imply purity and innocence, which are,
unfortunately, words that can not be remotely associated with either one. They can?t be associated
with Daisy and Jordan because they both are the exact opposite of purity and innocence. Daisy is
purely corrupted by money and society, her ?absurd, charming little laugh? (13) connotes her
fakeness. Nick views Jordan as an arrogant and proud woman, he sees her as someone who?s trying to
exude her independence, however she seems insubstantial. When describing Daisy, Nick uses the
word ?bright? (13 14) repetitively to suggest her flashy personality, like Tom she too has an aura
around her that make people, especially men, drawn towards her almost like a siren. With

Examples Of Betrayal In The Kite Runner
There are many different views about the concept of betrayal. Betrayal is described by World Book
Online as a . . . violation of trust or confidence. Furthermore, there are different ways to be betrayed or
to betray someone. Common examples of betrayal include adultery, mutiny, and stealing from a
trusting friend. Betrayal also has an emotional effect on individuals. Being betrayed by an individual
will induce the feelings of being . . . taken advantage of, deceived, humiliated, despised, cheated, or
stabbed in the back (Krystal Kuehn). The novel The Kite Runner is a story about an Afghan named
Amir who experiences and causes betrayals between friends and family. Throughout the novel The
Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini addresses the different concepts of betrayal through the characters of
Amir, Hassan, and Sohrab. Sohrab is the son of Hassan and is moved to an orphanage after his parents
death. While in the orphanage, Sohrab is betrayed by the orphanage director because the director gives
Sohrab to the Taliban for money. Amir and Farid enter the orphanage asking where Sohrab is. The
orphanage director tells them that a [Taliban official] visits once every month or two. He brings cash
with him . . . .Usually he ll take a girl. But not always (Hosseini 256) implying that he gave Sohrab
away. This event scars Sohrab and he becomes fearful of all orphanages because of the abusive
experiences he had as a result of his previous orphanage. In the novel, Sohrab tells Amir that he is glad
that his parents are not with him because he feels dirty and sinful about what the . . . bad man and the
other two . . . did to him (Hosseini 320). After Sohrab s experience with both the orphanage and the
Taliban, he begins to open up and become friends with Amir. As Sohrab starts to trust Amir, Amir
makes a promise with Sohrab saying that he will never send him to an orphanage. During the process
of adopting Sohrab, Amir realizes that the only way to adopt Sohrab is to send him to an orphanage.
Amir tells Sohrab the news, and Sohrab reminds Amir of his promise by saying [y]ou promised you d

Stanislavsky s Invention Of Stanislavsky And The Imagination
Stanislavsky and the Imagination
Konstantin Stanislavsky, born in 1863 Russia was an actor and well known theatre practitioner whose
main principle of theatre was the development of naturalism, called the Stanislavsky method .
Being born into a wealthy family Stanislavsky had the privilege of partaking in acting from a young
age, performing in his parent s acting company, the Alekseyev Circle. During the late 19th century,
Stanislavsky travelled around the globe to learn about different rehearsal processes at the Comedie
Francaise. [1]
His influences and experiences as a youngster led him to create his own theatre company: the Moscow
Art Theatre (est. 1898). Here he designed his unique system and introduced and combined realism
within European trends at that time.
During the decades, method acting became a popularised technique in large communities as the
Moscow Theatre underwent a world tour in areas of Europe and United States. Once the tour had
ended, many of the members decided to leave and go on to create the Group Theatre, which included
actors like Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler. After this many went on to form the Actors Studio. [2]
The System
The Stanislavsky system is used to portray the naturalistic and realistic elements of life and people
within theatre. The system allowed actors to draw in their own experiences to create natural and
believable characters. There are few aspects towards the Stanislavsky system, also known as the
Method System .

  • 3. How To Write A Narrative Essay About Homelessness Garrett Harrison English 1301 ZZ Deborah Smith September 27, 2016 Deafness is NOT a Disability I don t remember much about my first two years of school; matter of fact the only thing I do remember is what my parents have told me. I do, however remember sitting helpless, lost in my own world as I watched the others in the classroom scream with excitement as they recited the ABC s and sang songs while sitting on a large rug. I giggled and laughed along with them, somewhat mimicking them. I recall my teacher, many times, redirecting my attention to the lesson. I wasn t a bit interested in anything outside playtime; or of course lunch. First grade was no different. I was much less amused by reading and writing; which my teacher, Mrs. Garcia felt was the most important in her class. I hated reading. I hated writing more. I would hold my breath and sit quietly in a corner when it came to reading aloud with the class. Needless to say it tended to call attention to myself and I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My parents made my home school lesson an integral part of our daily lives. I would be asked to read menus, roadside signs, directions, weather reports, movie time listings, and other everyday information. They would also make sure they always had something for me to read in my spare time when waiting for appointments or even riding in our car. My mother began purchasing books that I was interested in. She created our own little make shift library for me in our home and made it mandatory that I read independently at least 20 min a day. She also bought index cards and started introducing sight words to our daily schedule. These were soon introduced to me as spelling words. I had to write these 3 times each and I tested on these on Fridays. If I ever questioned how to spell a word; it too was added to an index card and then added to my test. I was also encouraged and taught how to use a dictionary independently to avoid these added ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Harvard Referencing Style In Academic Literature Introduction Referencing is one of the most important aspects of any academic literature in the modern day scenario. It is the main way through which someone acknowledges the fact that they have borrowed the ideas of someone else, and have used their work for citation ion their work. There are several different kinds of referencing system among which the Harvard referencing style is one of the most popular. The different aspects of the Harvard style along with the main methods through which the style is implemented have been detailed and discussed. Herein, this study is about the Harvard referencing style and detailing the actual point of referencing in the first place. The Actual Point of Referencing Referencing is extremely important while compiling an academic file, as it is the main method of showing acknowledgement to the authors of the work which has been used for ideas in the said academic literature. A failure in this regard leads to people developing the misconception that the author has cheated or plagiarised someone else s work and is now claiming it as their own. Any kind of plagiarism is considered to be a serious offence, especially in the academic circles. Being accused of the malpractice of plagiarism is one of the worst hits that the reputation of a researcher can ever receive. Indeed, it is significantly difficult to recover a proper reputation once accusations of this kind are made towards someone. For students, being accused of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Role Of Terrorism And Terrorism Terrorists have one goal: create national fear and chaos while harming not only citizens, but the environment. First responders are responsible for more than the citizens or victims, they are assigned to assist with prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery (Department of Homeland Security, 2016). The five core capabilities ensure that the responders are prepared for terrorist events. Understanding the threat is the first task is countering and responding to terrorist events. Having an understanding of the situation, or possible situation at hand, responders may have a higher possibility of countering the attack before it does any harm. Risks to first responders, the response actions, and potential outcomes of terrorist incidents are all important topics when the threat of a terrorist attack or events has struck the United States. Terrorism is the unlawful use of weapons and intimidation to inflict violence among citizens. Recent examples of terrorist attacks in the United States include the attacks on 11 September 2001, al Qaeda members hijacked four U.S. airlines. Another example is the Boston Marathon bombing on 15 April 2015, killing three and wounding almost three hundred. Unfortunately, the United States were unable to counter these attacks or prevent them from happening because of the resources terrorists were able to use. The amount of risk first responders deal with is overwhelming. They not only put their own lives at risk but they also have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How Does Golding Use The Power In Lord Of The Flies Do you think if you were in a situation where you were immovable and stranded on an island, that you d become savage? Would you stick by the laws and stay civilized? Even if you were as proper as the queen? I believe that people in general, would become savages or just do anything in their power to survive. Simon was one of the boys who were on the island with the boys and he was on a mission to give news to the others, the boys were dancing around and eating, they thought Simon was the beast and killed him. The boys were so crazy, that they turned savage just to survive, and that Simon was assassinated by the boys in Jack s tribe and the others because they were afraid it was the beast. This program allows Chipotle to use seasonal produce through a network of 25 local farms that reduce the use of fossil fuel and boost the local farmers revenue. Another reason being environmental friendly is Chipotle s competitive advantage is co CEO Steven Ells understood the damage that concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO) caused to the environment. This film also used countless props; however, there is truly only one that needs to be discussed, and goes by the name of Jaws. This massive great white shark was a 26 foot mechanical beast. This enormous steel gutted fish was connected to a crane arm which allowed the shark to tread just underneath the surface of the water at a rapid rate. This gives the realistic feel of the amount of power this shark has; being able to swim at such rates of speed. This adds to the fright element of movie because we all know that big animals can be intimidating. Animals that are big and fast are even scarier. Animals that are big, fast, and hungry, are a force to be reckoned with. The film, Jaws, uses a variety of different photographic techniques. Panning was used quite often in this movie to remind the viewer that they were a long distance from the shoreline. Additionally, plenty of filming was done underwater. Important figures such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., or Abraham Lincoln stood up for issues like slavery, peace, and racism that no other person would care about. Veto countries abuse the powers they are given by refusing to pay, or contributing little to the UN and allowing the weaker countries to do the dirty work. Peace Keeping is, perhaps, The most important of the UN’s duties. But without the funds and equipment of the veto countries Peacekeeping forces will become only a memory. The main problem facing the UN, despite the issues with Veto powers, Peacekeeping, and the Americans, is the organization s financial situation. It has been forced to begin a lengthy restructuring to make it more cost effective due to the lack of funds it is encountering. In a recent UN report entitled, “Renewing the United Nations: A Programme for Reform” the UN officials began to address this problem. The report outlined the course which will be taken in order to balance the budget. Since the organization itself is completely reliant upon the money it receives from it’s members it is almost helpless in its hopes to move forward. The only way of punishing members who do not pay is to kick them out of the organization and cut off the benefits they receive. The current financial reform of the UN is very complex. Introduction During the course of this assignment we will explore whether whatever is done intentionally is done for a reason by taking a look at Anscombe s set of notes called Intention. Elizabeth Anscombe was one of the most influential women philosophers and a very important twentieth century philosopher. She translated some of Ludwig Wittgenstein s work; hence the references in her book Intention. My understanding of the relation between acting intentionally and acting for a reason was found by understanding the concepts she defines and analyses which are mostly found in the early stages of her notes. Anscombe defines intention as acting under a description . What distinguishes us rational agents is the capacity to step outside ourselves and deliberate about different possible courses of action i.e. we can think hypothetically. This capacity appears to be evident in language. It enables us not only to act voluntarily but also intentionally. Different Senses of Intention An agent is in the privileged position to declare one s intentions. The description of one s actions and one s intentions are the same. Darwin also proposed that there are two types of sexual selection which is intrasexual competition and intersexual selection. Intrasexual competition is when two of the same species that is of the same sex go against each other and the winner has a higher selection of mates. Usually the winner has better qualities that help increase survivability. They pass their genes on to future generations which helps increase survivability over the whole species eventually. Intersexual selection is when mates are chosen because of the certain qualities that an organism is looking for. Species with the characteristics desired tend to mate more which means most of those genes carry over to future generations. Genes tend to slowly disappear from the species if they don t mate as often. The psychoanalytic personality theory is composed of three structures of the mind: the id, ego, and superego. NSOs do have a slightly higher tax because of the employment taxes. Overall, it s not clear the ISO is that much better for employees, so many people argue for NSOs instead. Even more confusingly, ISOs can make it harder to meet the long term capital gains holding period. Many people expect early exercise together with an 83(b) election will help them hold the stock longer, to qualify for long term capital gains. While this is true for NSOs, there is a murky part of the rules on ISOs that implies that even with an 83(b) election, the capital gain holding period does not begin until the shares actually vest. So, if you want to immediately exercise an option and file an Section 83(b) election, and you might have liquidity soon, it s better if you can have it be an NSO. Taxes on RSUs If you are awarded RSUs, each unit represents one share of stock that you will be given when the units vest. When you receive your shares you are taxed on their value at that time. • 30. Peasants During The Han Dynasty Past Peasants were the lowest class of the Han dynasty. About 90% (160 million) of people were peasants. During the Shang and Zhou dynasties, peasants didn t own their lands. Throughout the Han Dynasty, most peasants owned a small area of land and gave a portion of their crops to the government to pay as tax. The peasants survival depended on the quality of the crops while they also faced floods, earthquakes, and famine. During the first half of the Han dynasty, there were 20 periods of droughts, floods, and famines. Peasants faced extreme danger to cope with the natural disasters and ensure the survival of their children. During famine, parents had to kill their babies that they couldn t feed. • 31. Becoming A Single-Parent The pain of losing someone close to you, especially a parent, is never something you can ever quite articulate. But, the lessons you learn and the person you become in the aftermath is a little easier to explain. My mother was my best friend. She was ornery, funny, and brilliant in her own way. She always knew how to soothe me and she always made the effort to, even when she was combatting her own issues. In 2009, my parents divorced due to my father s anger issues and drug use. In addition to becoming a single parent, she was also physically disabled due to work injuries and dealt with pain almost constantly. Her death was May 26th, 2015, just six days after the end of my freshman year. The exact details are burned into my memory, but at the same time the entire day is a blur. I remember the train of emotions hurtling in myself and in my loved ones; the panic, the rage, and the absolute heartbreak I experienced during what I dub The First Year . During The First Year , the odds seemed so against us: my brother needed to obtain custody and ownership of our home; our dog passed away; both my brother and his girlfriend crashed their cars and my mother s car; my girlfriend even broke up with me because she couldn t handle how ... • 32. Alternate Endings in Anouilh s Medea Essay Alternate Endings in Anouilh s Medea To what purpose does Jean Anouilh alter the central conflicts and characters in his retelling of Medea ? In the classic play, Medea escapes without punishment and we are told as an audience it is not our place to question the motives and/or actions of the gods. Within the framework of modern, psychologically rendered characters and in the absence of supernatural meddling, Anouilh attempts not only to question the motives but to posit answers to the open ended questions left by Euripides. The dynamic between divine and human will is reshaped with this goal in mind. This change makes a significant impact upon Medea s ability to rediscover and reconcile her identity with her actions as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the characters, especially Jason and Medea, do not acknowledge divine forces as potent elements shaping their actions, they are keenly aware of their recurring roles throughout literary history. They force the reader to make a more substantial connection or comparison with the previous work. One might try to recast the earlier analogy, replacing the Greek gods with Anouilh. The characters are his tools, his puppets. This, however, is too simplistic. Anouilh himself must acknowledge the limits of the tale, not simply the sequence of events, but themes and ideas within it, if he is to retell it. In this sense Anouilh is confined and he makes the reader aware of this fact. Within these self imposed limits, though, Anouilh is free to revise, review, elucidate, and articulate the ideas, actions, and opinions of each character. And it is to this end that Jason is raised by Anouilh from the ranks of dramatic foil to an emotional and psychological match for Medea. Jason is left spinning out of control at the conclusion of the original play, wondering how this could have happened and why. Medea escapes untouched and the Chorus is left to restore order. Anouilh s Jason is faced with the murder of his children, fiancĂ©, and future father in law as well as Medea s suicide. Medea, consumed by the fires of her own passion and madness, takes her own life. He is obviously devastated but able to respond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Clever Tom Clinch Going To Be Hanged Comparing A London Fete and Clever Tom Clinch Going to be Hanged This essay will contrast the two poems A London Fete written by Coventry Patmore and Clever Tom Clinch Going To Be Hanged by Jonathan Swift. Both of these poems are about the hangings in the 17th 18th century. A London Fete was written in the 18th century, whereas Clever Tom Clinch was written in the 17th century. This could have made a slight variation in what the poet had written because of the time variation. For instance nowadays we are more civilised because of the new laws have been brought in. Although both of the poems were written about hangings, A London Fete was more persistent on the crowd s behaviour and response rather than the condemned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think that the crowd reacted the way they did is because everything adapts to its environment. So going back to the title it s showing that the crowd is having a tremendous time. The title Clever Tom Clinch is ironic because the word Clever is used to describe Tom Clinch. In reality I believe that Tom Clinch is attempting to be clever whereas if he were intelligent he would have never been caught in the first place. His waistcoat and stockings and breeches were white this could have shown that he was witty because his garments were white which associates with an angel. He considered that he could have swindled them into believing that he was innocent. Jonathan Swift wrote the poem Clever Tom Clinch using swift and dexterous movements. He had also used rhyming couplets throughout the poem. My opinion for why the poet decided to do this is because when the reader is reading, he is reading in a continuous rhythm and flow. This helps the reader to carry on reading. Clever Tom Clinch has been written in the form of a ballad, which means that there is a narrator, which is telling you what is happening throughout the poem. For instance, As Clever Tom Clinch, while the rabble was, rode stately through Holborn, to die in his calling . The poet is telling us that Tom Clinch was going through Holborn, and that the ... • 34. Historical Development Of Urban Development Introduction In the context of urban history, infrastructure can make or break a community. In the United States, the historical development of urban infrastructure has both formed and followed the inscriptions of race, class, and gender on the urban landscape. Ample in more affluent communities, usually absent or minimal in historic concentrations of urban poverty, infrastructure does not serve its public equally. Some cities have a more equitable distribution of infrastructure than others, but many urban neighborhoods remain woefully underserved, (Avila 4 5). My hometown of Tolleson, Arizona is a small city of six thousand, five hundred residents with a predominantly Mexican population, with nearly 78% of the residents declaring themselves as Mexican in the 2010 census. The focus of my research will be on the power of Latinx representation Latinx majority cities governments, using Tolleson as a special case study, whose city council is majority Mexican. Tolleson has been making great strides to fix up the town and provide more jobs and opportunities to its residents, and in doing so, the city has asserted itself as a major example for its innovation and strengthening infrastructure. For example, Tolleson was the only city in Arizona to not lay off employees during the 2008 Great Recession, and the Paseo de Luces (Path of Lights), which was created by Mayor Adolfo F. • 35. Anselm s Ontological Argument Essay Among the most famous proofs for God s existence is Anselm s Ontological Argument . Although this widely read philosophical discourse has its fair share of critics, it is a sound and valid argument for the existence of God with true premises and a true conclusion. This paper will present Anselm s argument, discussing both premises and conclusion, and defend it against the retort made by Anselm s contemporary, Gaunilo, using the logic of Anselm s rejoinder. Anselm s argument can be summarized by the following points: 1. God is something than which no greater being can be thought . 2. Something than which no greater being can be thought is able to exist in understanding and thought. 3. It is greater to exist in reality than to simply exist in thought. 4. If that which no greater being can be thought exists only in understanding, then that which no greater being can be thought is not that which no greater being can be thought, as a greater being would exist in reality. This is a contradiction. 5. Therefore, That which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether it is film, television or advertising, these forms of media constantly surround us, influencing and changing the way we live. But what about radio? Some say that radio is dying, that its use has become useless, that it was only an aid of assistance during the early and mid 1900 s. But the way I see it, I think that radio is more relevant and significant today than it ever was, especially for the diverse Australian youth cultures. Their lifestyle, education, political views and social aspects come under a large role due to what they listen to over the radio. So how do radio stations maintain and attract their listeners? Statistics show that the 9.5 million people that tune in to community radio each month state that they value their local content and diverse local music that their community radio produces for them. • 37. Fitzgerald s Use of Language in The Great Gatsby Essay In the novel The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald uses tone, diction, syntax and imagery to voice Nick s perception of the world around him. In this passage his use of language is used repetitively to convey Jordan Baker, Daisy and Tom Buchanan s lives. On the outside it may look like they all are living a perfect and ideal life, however Fitzgerald s illuminating use of language highlights how far from perfect their lives truly are. When he first walks in Nick judges Tom and Daisy s lives based on the appearance of the house, perfect and romanticized, yet he soon learns that this first impression is an overstatement. Nick states white in two different meanings, at the beginning of the passage ?white? is used to reflect elegance and purity but as Nick spends more time the ?white? in the house he learns that the color symbolizes the stereotypical façade that every character is hiding behind, a dull, vacuous, and bland guise. Fitzgerald uses white to express the many personalities, such as those of Daisy and Jordan. Interestingly, the white appearance would imply purity and innocence, which are, unfortunately, words that can not be remotely associated with either one. • 39. Stanislavsky s Invention Of Stanislavsky And The Imagination Stanislavsky and the Imagination Konstantin Stanislavsky, born in 1863 Russia was an actor and well known theatre practitioner whose main principle of theatre was the development of naturalism, called the Stanislavsky method . Being born into a wealthy family Stanislavsky had the privilege of partaking in acting from a young age, performing in his parent s acting company, the Alekseyev Circle. During the late 19th century, Stanislavsky travelled around the globe to learn about different rehearsal processes at the Comedie Francaise. [1] His influences and experiences as a youngster led him to create his own theatre company: the Moscow Art Theatre (est. 1898). Here he designed his unique system and introduced and combined realism within European trends at that time. During the decades, method acting became a popularised technique in large communities as the Moscow Theatre underwent a world tour in areas of Europe and United States. Once the tour had ended, many of the members decided to leave and go on to create the Group Theatre, which included actors like Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler. After this many went on to form the Actors Studio. [2] The System The Stanislavsky system is used to portray the naturalistic and realistic elements of life and people within theatre. The system allowed actors to draw in their own experiences to create natural and believable characters. There are few aspects towards the Stanislavsky system, also known as the Method System .
