Fate s Punishment For Athens
Fate s Punishment for Athens The Landmark Thucydides is a history book on the Peloponnesian War
written by an Athenian historian and general named Thucydides. Throughout the book, Thucydides
recounts the war and tells of the many actions of his mother land Athens. In several of his descriptions
Athens could be viewed as arrogant especially towards their accomplishments in war. He also tells of
a terrible crime that Athens commits that could be described as genocide. Thucydides also describes
several simpleminded mistakes that were made that crippled Athens in the end and could have been
prevented with more through thinking. Despite being powerful and dominant on the battlefield the
Athenians suffer crippling defeat in the end. The arrogance, cruelty, and foolishness that Athens
displayed brought fate down on Athens and caused their defeat in the Peloponnesian War. Athens
displayed their arrogance multiple times throughout the war. During a battle at Pylos Sparta attempted
to make peace with Athens through a truce. When offered the truce, Athens rejects it thinking that The
treaty would be ready for them whenever they chose to make it . (Landmark Thucydides. Book 4;
4.21, Pg.425). Athens had the audacity to think that Sparta would just wait for them to decide when
they were done fighting which made them seem obnoxiously proud. Another time where Athens
shows how arrogant they are occurs before the conference with the colony of Melos. Thucydides talks

The Case Of Eliza Emerson
The Decision Wake up, wake up! says my owner, Eliza Emerson. She has been my owner ever since
her husband, my old owner, died. I have been a slave my whole life and when our old owner died I
thought that maybe our new owner Eliza, would set us free if I paid her. She actually liked me here
and liked the earnings she got for paying me out. What I thought I could do after she said no was go to
court. When our old owner died we had already lived in a free state so I thought that since I lived in a
free state I was free. Unfortunately the first time I went to court I lost, the second time in a different
court I was declared free I was so happy then I thought I would cry. Then our owner appealed to the

Alfalfa Sprouts, The Newest Pathogen Carrier
Alfalfa Sprouts, the Newest Pathogen Carrier
In the world today, nobody is safe. Whether it is from terrorist attacks, falling meteors or food
outbreaks. Recently, there have been food produce outbreaks related to raw sprouts, especially alfalfa
sprouts. These outbreaks have been related mostly to the pathogens Escherichia Coli 0157:H7 and
Salmonella. Some symptoms related to these pathogens include diarrhea, cramps, stomach pain, and
potential fever. These symptoms alone make people want to be extra careful when picking out their
produce at the supermarket. The hardest part of these outbreaks are that people are dealing with raw
spouts. Raw sprouts can be a great carrier of these pathogens, and there are no one way to get rid of
every single pathogen exactly (Winthrop et al., 2002). These outbreaks can be from poor cleaning
practices, imports of produce from other countries, or buying from larger food chains.
In recent years, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have set new regulations and standards that
people who are producing raw sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, need to follow in order to reduce the amount of
outbreaks related to E. coli, Salmonella, and other related pathogens. There are multiply different
ways to treat raw sprouts from seeds to full growth. No one way is right, but it is recommended that
people do whatever possible to keep consumers and themselves safe. Some of these regulations that
are put in place, include the disinfection of seeds and sprouts, as

Fortuna Primigenia Research Paper
The Temple of Fortuna Primigenia is a vast concrete sanctuary that sits within a large mountainside.
The entire structure was installed on four platforms. These platforms acted as colossal steps up the
hillside (Moffett 110). Both a set of ramps and a long, tall staircase linked each step . The temple itself
is symmetrical and has an axial plan; both right and left sides are exactly mirrored. As you walk up to
the structure, you must take in the different geometries of the sanctuary. The first shape is a large
triangle that is mildly extruded. Large staircases run up to this upward pointed extrusion. A doorway is
subtracted from the bottom center of this first structure as well as the sides. The side doorways are the

people could walk around. Much human interaction could be had on the terraces. There covered walks
as well as wide open spaces where people could move around freely. These two general aspects were
very different from each other. While the tholos was a very private and secluded space; the terraces
were very much public and spacious. While the most important part of the sanctuary was perched at
the top, the less important causal area was larger and lower. Lastly while the tholos was the farthest

Dbq Shays Rebellion
There were many limitations and weakness in this constitution, which led the states to revise the
confederation. Shays Rebellion was one of them. This created a fear in Americans that Articles of
confederation was not powerful enough to protect from these kinds of act and they demanded for
stronger central government. Daniel Shays was a revolutionary war veteran and he wasn t receiving
his pay from the war. Massachusetts government compelled the banks to recover farms and
foreclosure homes from the people, who did not pay and Shays was also facing foreclosure. So, he
planned to take over the courthouse, which was making these rules. He and his people took over the

Ames Bowdoin, the governor of Massachusetts, organized a military force funded by eastern
merchants, to attack these rebels. The wealthy were worried that the national government under the
Articles of Confederation has no power to stop these kinds of rebellions. There are other major
problems with Articles such as, inability to enforce individual or state tax, unable to enforce military
draft, no control over international trade, and no executive or judicial branch. Law enforcement,
regulating commerce and levying taxes, and administering justice were reserved to states. Even
though it had many drawbacks, there were some successful achievements under the Articles of
confederation. The adoption of ordinance for the sale of government land to settlers were one of them.

Mental Health Issues Of Vietnam Veterans
Society does not accommodate the needs of Veterans in terms of housing and health services upon
returning to civilian life. Vietnam veterans are infamously known for being homeless and having a
host of mental health issues. Today s veterans have more support systems but the success of those
systems may vary from region to region. In the Puget Sound region there are many homeless veterans
despite efforts made by communities and municipalities. Issues of access to health care and inadequate
community support intersect to form an underserved group of citizens who served in the military.
Those who serve in the military are the often purported to be the ideal citizens who dedicate their lives
to service. Veterans however are displaced and unable to fit within society without an array of
different services. Veterans have engaged in the duty to kill others for the sake of the political
community in order to secure their living and membership within society (Yuval Davis, 2012:208).
The political community then has a responsibility to provide for the soldiers when they return to being
citizens.
The culture for those who come from the military is highly disciplined and has an emphasis
accomplishing goals for the larger group. Veterans witness a low work ethic and see people squander
away their opportunity creating a difference in the culture between ex military and civilian populations
in daily life (Rodriguez, Ricardo, 2016:Personal Interview). The experience for Ricardo, a

Segmentation also helps identify the key features of a product that will give the customers the most
value for money and lead to building motive for buying. Identifying the needs of a customer often
opens up new markets that a firm may expand into. The customers of the telecom industry in
Bangladesh pretty much include everyone in the country. Communication can almost be deemed a
necessity nowadays and the telecom industry takes advantage of this by constantly promoting their
products with high budget advertisements and endorsements, falling prices, and diverse products.
Target customers are hardly ever able to avoid being exposed to telecom products, and combined with
constantly reducing call rates resulting from competition, a large segment of the country s population
now utilize subscription to more than one operator. I. Segments The telecom industry of Bangladesh
tends to target the country s entire population as a single segment, but varies its product in terms of
augmented features and benefits to appeal to distinctive segments of customers within that one
segment. While all the players in the industry attempts to compete with each other in all segments,
they usually tend to target heavily the segment in which their primary core competency lies. Some of
the customer segments are as follows: The everyday user Usually more

The Power of Fear in Things Fall Apart Essays
The Power of Fear in Things Fall Apart In the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, the theme
of the power of fear is presented throughout the whole book and is mainly expressed in the main
character, Okonkwo. Okonkwo strives all of his life to become a stronger, more powerful, and a
successful individual. He wants to do this because his father was a slack and lazy person who lived
most of his life in debt and had no titles to his name. People often looked at his father as a women
figure for the few achievements he redeemed. Okonkwo never wanted to be like his father and it
eventually got to the point where he became fearful of becoming like him. Achebe uses the power of

For all of his desire to be strong, Okonkwo is caught up by the constant fear of being perceived as
weak. He is afraid of failure and afraid of being considered weak. This fear drives him to do whatever
he can to not become a failure like his father which ironically contributes to his death. While
Okonkwo was a strong and important figure in his tribe, he had to keep his reputation that way by
making some hard decisions. One of them was when he had to kill Ikemefuna, a young boy from the
neighboring tribe. Okonkwo started accepting the decision to kill Ikemefuna because he started to call
Okonkwo father. He had to keep his own valor intact and kill the boy to prevent himself from showing
any weakness, but deep down, Okonkwo was really upset because of what he did which was ironic,
When did you become a shivering old woman, Okonkwo asked himself, you, who are known in all the
nine villages for your valor in war? How can a man who has killed five men in battle fall to pieces
because he has added a boy to their number? Okonkwo, you have become a woman indeed. (Achebe
65). He continued to roll downhill when the white man comes to try and convert Okonkwo s tribe.
Okonkwo responds by killing one of the messengers that were sent. This cause Okonkwo s own tribe
to question his actions. Okonkwo stood looking at the dead man. He knew that Umuofia would not go
to war. He knew because they had let the other messengers escape.

Data Warehousing And Mobile Computing
I. Abstract
Data warehousing and mobile computing are the way of the future, yet the literature on the topic is
somewhat scarce at present. This literature review focuses on the interaction of data mining, data
warehousing, mobile computing and security under the following guiding research question: How can
the mobile application of data mining and data warehousing retain a high level of security? While
cloud computing is a problematic and groundbreaking, it is useful way to engage in data mining and
warehousing in the mobile computing context. This literature review also focuses on the ethical use of
data mining, policy recommendations and adoption of security protocols, and future research
suggestions.
II. Introduction
Cloud computing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The core of the essay focuses on conducting a literature review. The literature review focuses on four
major sets of academic and research literature related to this topic: first, data mining; second, data
warehousing; third, mobile computing; and finally, on the topic of security itself. These are all fast
moving fields, and all of these comprise rapidly changing sets of literature and material due to the
subject matter. The literature were examined in order to answer the question of how mobile
applications of data mining and data warehousing can set and retain a high level of security.
III. Literature Review As mentioned above, the literature review focuses on the four main topics of
investigation. Focusing on data mining, data warehousing; mobile computing and while also focusing
on security within each topic. Themes of organizational culture and communication emerge, which in
turn sheds a light on importance of information security and the need of centralization.
a. Data Mining Data mining is a relatively new phenomenon, therefore the number of peer reviewed
journal articles, blogs and other online sources on the topic are limited but growing rapidly. One key
book, Data Mining and Analysis: Fundamental Concepts and Algorithms by Zaki and Meira Jr., takes
an algorithmic approach, as the title suggests. Zaki and Meira Jr. define data mining by stating that
data mining comprises the core algorithms that enable one to gain fundamental insights and
knowledge

Football Helmet History Essay
Over the course of the history of football, the game has been played with no helmets, to helmets that
are decreasing the amount of head injuries. There have been many different variations of helmets, and
they have improved over the years as a result of many studies that have shown the damage a player
can take in football without any protective headgear. Football helmets have gone from stages of thin,
leather, to hard plastic helmets, with no facemask, all the way to the safest helmets ever that have
foam pads inside and a very durable facemask. In 1893, the first football helmet was invented by an
Annapolis shoemaker. The helmet was made for Joseph Mason Reeves, because Reeves had been
advised by a Navy doctor that he could find himself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first plastic helmet was designed by John T. Riddell in 1939. The first versions of his new plastic
helmets were made of very brittle plastic that would usually crack on impact. For the players, it was,
in fact, better than having a cracked skull. Many of his versions of the plastic helmet continued to
improve and became way safer than his first models of the plastic helmet. In 1951, Otto Graham,
playing for the Browns, took an elbow to the face, in their game against the 49 ers. The side of his
mouth was ripped open after the blow, and his coach, Paul Brown, had a lucite prototype put on his
helmet by the Browns team manager. This lucite prototype is a plastic, clear, facemask that went
across the front of Graham s helmet. During the second half, Graham played with the facemask on his
helmet and was the first lucite facemask used in football and was on a plastic football helmet. After,
having the lucite facemask put on his facemask, just six years later, Graham used a facemask invented
for him by G.E. Morgan. It was called the BT 5 facemask. BT was made to stand for Bar Tubular.
Different variations of this facemask followed, but the first of this facemask was a single bar across
made from a combination of rubber and plastic. Several years later, in 1969, the first Microfit helmet
was made and it had improved the structural integrity of the entire helmet.

We Were Liars Analysis
Summer Reading Essay I remember only this: I plunged down into this ocean, down to rocky rocky
bottom, and I could see the base of Beechwood Island and my arms and legs felt numb but my fingers
were cold. Slices of seaweed went past as I fell. That is a quote that describes how the conflict was
made in the book that I read this summer We Were Liars By E. Lockhart. This book was about a girl,
Cadence Sinclair. The entire Sinclair Family always goes away to a private island off of Massachusetts
every summer. Her and Johnny, Mirren and Gat made up a group called the Liars. Johnny and Mirren

She recalled swimming on the tiny beach alone, diving into the ocean and other bits and pieces, but
most of it remains a blur. Her mother and her aunts took her to the hospital nearby and the doctors
figured out that she is suffering through hypothermia, respiratory problems, amnesia, and traumatic
brain injury. Sadly, since Cadence had all of those problems with her health she underwent
vomiting, horror, migraines, blackouts, weight loss, terrible doctor visits and much more, but that wasn t
even the worst part. All Cadence wanted to know was what happened. She wanted her mom to tell her
memories of the summers before. Her mother tried, but it didn t work that well so she gave up. Also
the doctors said that it would be better if she could recall on the memories by herself so that just gave
her mom another reason to stop trying. You began asking me the day you woke up in the hospital.
What happened? What happened? I told you the truth Cadence, I always did, and you d repeat it back
to me. But the next day you would ask again. That quote shows that even if her mother tried as hard as
she could Cadence just couldn t remember. Her mother wouldn t allow her go to Beechwood Island
(the private island) until summer 17. Anyways, Cadence finally got to go back to Beechwood to see
the Liars and her family. While she was there it was different; the aunts told the cousins to be nice to
her and no one could act normal around her.

Cade s Cove Creative Writing
I never knew the Smokies were so close to my grandparent s retirement village. Every summer all the

perfume of damp golden retriever. But today we were going to The Great Smoky Mountains National

We parked our bikes and wandered past the gristmill and the smoke house and the barn where an old

Radiographic Stereotypes
Radiolucent lesions seen on radiographs develop from both odontogenic and non odontogenic
structures. They characterize a broad spectrum of lesions (Avril et al., 2013) A sequential study of all
the radiographic characteristics of the image helps ensure recognition and collection of all the
information contained in the image and in turn improves the accuracy of interpretation. Analysis of
any image should include: Step 1: Localize the anomaly Step 2: Assess the periphery and shape Step
3: Analyse the internal structure Step 4: Analyse the effects of the lesion on peripheral structures. A

Question 2
Cost Volume Profit Analysis
1.0 Introduction
According to Jon Scheumann a successful organizations need a culture that is attuned to cost
management and pay attention to cost structure
From that statement manager must pay attention and carefully thinking when do decision making to
the cost. For example when manager want to target the profit. They must take every cost that related in
production such as variable cost and fix costs.
Cost Volume profit analysis is used in decisions making in a company. The reasons why used cost

So when the firm done correctly to identify fixed and variable cost, it can do CVP analysis correctly
and manager can used the correct CVP analysis to make decision making.
2. In graph Cost are in straight line
Assume that fixed cost no change in any of range. Variable Cost is proportional and parallel to the line
revenue. So in the reality cost of behaviour not remain constant. It mean when we do CVP analysis we
must assume a straight line (constants) so when do a calculation it easy to calculate the cost and make
analysis. For example if we see in graph the cost is curve line it hard to calculate the cost if the cost is
out of range from the graph. So that why we must assume in straight line so it easy to calculate and
identify the cost even it out of range in graph.
3. Price is fixed for every volume was purchase/selling ( selling price/direct material)
When buy a lot of item, item we buy was offering/make a discount. These make a problem to
determine contribution margin ratio. Example normally when we buy/sell a lot of item we can
receive/give discount. Event we know that it hard to calculate when price always changes base on the
quantity item of we buy/sell. So in order to make easy calculation we must make assumption fixed
price every volume was purchase and selling and ignore the cost that give effect the change in price
and volume.
4. Variable cost is fix per unit not calculated based on volume produce
So when it calculated per unit it hard to

Response To Obamacare
Thank you for contacting me regarding Obamacare. I appreciate having the opportunity to respond.
We now know that many of the claims President Obama made about his health care reform law have
been proven false. People who liked their health care plans and their doctors have not always been
able to keep them under Obamacare. The Obamacare website was badly designed, not secure,
untested, and prone to frequent, random crashes. Insurance premiums have gone up for many; they
certainly have not fallen by an average of $2,500 per family, as was claimed would happen under
Obamacare. I have consistently voted to repeal or defund the Obamacare law and rescind the $1
trillion in new taxes and $1.8 trillion in new spending contained in it.

Jaak Panksepp Beyond A Laugh Analysis
The information depicted in this text is from the article Beyond a Joke: From Animal Laughter to
Human Joy? written by Jaak Panksepp. Panksepp is a neurobiologist who graduated with a degree in
neuroscience, biology, and psychology. This article covered the ideology that non human creatures can
emit laughter similar to humans. Panksepp had experimented on three various non human creatures
designed to discover whether or not they produced laughter, including a chimpanzee, rat, and less
exclusively, canines (dogs). Experimenter would transmit stimuli to activate joy, and thus compare it
to human emotions. I think the more we know about the emotions of other animals, the more we will
understand our own emotions, (Panksepp, 2000 s). Panksepp

How to Purchase a Fly Rod
So you have made a decision to purchase a fly rod. Whether because you are just starting the sport of
fly fishing, or you want to upgrade to a new or better rod than the one you have now. This is an
important decision. The rod is the one most important piece of equipment you need to have. Therefore
a purchase that should not be made on a whim, suggestion or impulse. Remember that there are over
320 QUALITY fly rods on the market that fit into the basic requirements needed for trout, pan fish,
and most bass caught in the Rocky mountain region or the lower 48 for that mater.

Your Body Mechanics is basically the way you as an person will cast a fly rod vs. someone else. If
you are just beginning to fly cast, have someone who can annualize your cast to help you. You need to
be able to cast a little and have a basic understanding of what a good cast looks/feels like. The best
place to do this is a real FLY SHOP!
What is Rod Action? Fly Rod action is the way and/or where the rod bends along its length during the
casting stroke. The rod bends from the weight of the fly line pulling (or causing resistance) against the
tip of the rod, otherwise known as LOADING . Stopping the rods movement and releasing the energy
is unloading the rod. Where or how much of the rod bends or how much resistance it takes to bend the
rod, determines the action.
There are basically four actions. Slow action, very flexible, loads very easy, takes a very good and
smooth casting stroke to cast well.
Soft or medium, flexes down about half way down the rod, also loads easier than the faster rods. Also
takes a developed casting stroke to cast

How could this be happening? Why is this guy at McDonalds dressed in all black, from head to toe?
How does he know me, and my twin sister, we are only in 5th grade? All of these questions were

communication with this Agent Dominic ? After about 8 minutes of me just standing there questioning
myself, I snapped myself out of it and talked to this Agent Dominic . How do you know me? I asked
him. He replied, Well, I knew your sister not you. Yes, okay, how do you know my twin? I questioned.

Daytime Talk Television
Daytime talk television is certainly controversial. There are those who find these types of shows
informative and helpful. There are others who view these shows as pointless and inappropriate. I agree
with the latter. Daytime talk television is pointless and it presents material that should not appear on
television. I believe that some talk shows need to be removed from the airwaves and not seen again.
When looking at daytime talk television, once can see that there are two main styles, which are
apparent when looking at the content and manner at which they are presented. There are show like

I feel that daytime talk television is both a good thing and can also be negative in its attempts to fight
for ratings. Those shows that I believe should stay on television and continue to be run are the positive
ones that have a goal that is based on people as opposed to those based on money and ratings. I
believe Oprah is on of the only talk show hosts that does a good job in dealing with people and their
problems. As Merry Thomas said, Oprah deals with topics that touch peoples hearts and she wants and
tried to help those in need. She does several shows that are aimed at inspiring and helping her viewers.
This idea of helping people can be seen through her show about family values. Oprah had Louie
Anderson on the set, and he was discussing how fame has put stress on his family and the
relationships within the family. Louie talked about how he tries to deal with his family and their
constant desire for financial support. His brother came on, and they discussed the problem in a calm,
relaxed way and how it has strained their relationship. Her kind of show is the kind we need more of
on television. It was nice to see two people discuss a problem as opposed to yelling and fighting about
it. I like her style and her love of people. I think that if a show is done in good taste and deals with

Five Paragraph Essay On Night By Elie Wiesel
A cry pierces the night air. You look around in fear as you hear a woman s screams, Fire! I can see a
fire! I can see a fire! (22). There is nothing there. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. There was no
way you could ever have known what was to come. The morning never came and you suddenly you
could see the flames everywhere. No one anticipated the monstrosity that would become known as the
Holocaust. Elie Wiesel certainly didn t see it coming. He was one of the many Jewish people sent to
concentration camps. Ten years after the end of World War 2 Elie decided to sit down and write his
memoir, entitled Night, about the time he spent there. It is a brutally honest look at the Holocaust.
Throughout the book there is a repeated mantra of fire. He describes the fire and smoke with vivid
detail. If you look close enough you begin to see the deeper meaning of the fire. In Night, Elie Wiesel
uses the mantra of fire to explain the terror and closeness of death that the prisoners are in constant
fear of during the Holocaust. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

camp he sees the smoke from the crematorium for the first time. The deaths of so many innocent
people occured in that death factory. Everyone around him at the camp is afraid of the dreaded place,
for it means certain death to all those who enter. This threat hangs over Elie and his companions at all

Importance Of Life In My Life
Where have we been and WHAT HAPPENED IN ZIMBABWE?!?!? It s been too long and it s
completely our fault Much to my chagrin turns out Chindi was right it has been over two months!
Shame on us! Did you think we had given up? No, we will never surrender! We went live 07/11/17
with ambitious goals. Partially I was motivated to get started rather than stuck in the what if s, how s,
and logistics. The go live was effective in prompting us to jump in and get to work. Where we have
lacked is in our consistency, then we have been beset with an onset of monumental life changes that
have caused us to come to a grinding halt. HOWEVER, there is a lesson, of course, and our motto is
problems are opportunities . Where have we been? At the radius we are about expansion and behind
the scenes there has been tons of growth. Myself, I continue to work during the day, as well as
volunteer and coordinate community based events. In addition to that, I applied for and was appointed
to a vacant school board seat. Given that I wanted to perform well, and increase my learning curve I
devoted many hours in training to my new role. This was a detriment to my ability to record episodes,

Network Built For Local Area Networks Essay
WANs are systems built for information exchange that connects computers from anywhere in the
world across the globe. A wide area network (WAN) is generally used by large corporations or
organizations. WANs are very useful to these sorts of associations because it easily allows them to
deploy data from their computers to disseminate offices. Large organizations that use multiple
facilities usually end up using WANs. Smaller businesses are increasingly using WANs as well. They
are able to use WANs if they have at least two secluded sites. WAN usually connects two or more
LANs together. LAN stands for local area networks. The internet that we all use is very much
considered a WAN. WANs have existed for many years. They are methodical and controlled much
differently from other types of telecommunication systems. WANs are very similar to LANs because
they serve almost the same purpose. WANs are still a bit more intricate than LANs of course. In order
for a user to use WAN, they first would have to subscribe to a telecommunication providers service.
The organizations that choose to use WANs do not own or control any of the communication lines that
connect the secluded network systems to other computers. WANs are not used to connect individual
computers with each other. They were built to link different LANs together. When the WAN connects
the LANs to each other this is called internetwork. Routers and remote bridges play a part to the

Men and Women were Created Equal Men are not superior to women, they are equal in every way.
Although it is true that society has stereotyped women into traditional roles, this preconceived notion,
is totally false. Action to promote the concept of equality in our society needs to be taken. Women
have been fighting for equality for many decades. As a result of this battle, some amazing
transformations have taken place amongst the female gender. Women have become educated and over

2 Another example of women sharing an equal role in today s society is demonstrated in the military.
Today s women joining the Canadian Armed Forces are equally eligible with men for combat roles.
Over 229,000 women serve on active duty in the military services of the Department of Defense. This
monumental step allows women to become takers, as well as producers of life. Women now have
equal rights and responsibilities in the defense of our country. These advances have been made, not
only on the ground but in the air as well. In 1988, Deanna Brasseur became Canada s first female
fighter pilot. That same year, the defense department appointed their first female general, Sheila
Hellstrom. The department also stated that women often do better at riflery than men due to the fact
that they listen to instruction while men tend to think they know it all. A male veteran sergeant, proud
of his work with female recruits, says that: Today s women won t find anything that hard to adjust to
in the military. The facts are telling a tale. Many doors are opening for women and they are barreling
through with boundless energy and determination. The 21st century is here and the traditional role of
the stay at home mother is all but disappeared. Marriage and children are still signs of the successful
women, however women are less willing to accept exclusive roles of housewife and mother. More and

Victor is the True Villain of Frankenstein Essay
At first glance, the monster in Frankenstein is a symbol of evil, whose only desire is to ruin lives. He
has been called A creature that wreaks havoc by destroying innocent lives often without remorse. He
can be viewed as the antagonist, the element Victor must overcome to restore balance and tranquility
to the world. But after the novel is looked at on different levels, one becomes aware that the creature
wasn t responsible for his actions, and was just a victim of circumstance. The real villain of
Frankenstein isn t the creature, but rather his creator, Victor. As a romantic novel Victor is responsible,
because he abandoned his creation. As an archetype novel, Victor is the villain, because he was trying

. . This is another example of how the creature wanted someone to talk to him and be his friend, and
that person should have been Victor. Victor is also a villain in a Archetype sense. Victor was trying to
play god, when he created the creature, and that is something he shouldn t have done, because humans
can t become too powerful, even though they always try. Victor became so obsessed with creating life,
that it clouded his judgment, and took up all of his time and energy. On page 66, just before Justine s
trial, Victor thought to himself, During the whole of this wretched mockery of justice I suffered living
torture. It was to be whether the result of my curiosity and lawless devices would cause the death of
two of my fellow beings. This line shows two things, first Victor knew that Justine, and William s
death was his fault. Also, he knew that his experiments, shouldn t have been done, and were against
the laws of nature and god. On page 39, Victor says, Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds,
which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world. A new species
would bless me as its creator and source, many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to
me. This quote shows how Victor wanted to be like a god. He wanted to be admired, and praised as a
species creator. And this want is another reason he was the real villain of Frankenstein. Finally,

Muscle Involvement In Muscle Disease
Involvement of muscles in neurological disease has been extensively studied over the past century. By
1830, Charles Bell had identified muscular dystrophy as a cause of progressive weakness among boys
(McConville Vincent, 2002). After extensive research, it was established that the disorder was of
neurological origin. Together with other diseases such as Myasthenia gravis, Parkinson disease among
others, it has been determined that muscular involvement in these diseases arises from the
neuromuscular connection. More importantly, many neural transmissions occur at the muscle
junctions through the actions of neurotransmitters. Any changes in the amount or structural defects of
the synapse cause muscular weakness and gradually loss of function. In other severe cases, loss of
nerves at the junctions causes permanent disability since nerves cannot be regenerated. This focus will
examine existing literature to provide an association of muscles properties and neurological
involvement. Muscle is an integral part of the skeletal and even visceral parts of the human body.
There are of either skeletal or visceral origin. Irrespective of their types, they are needed for normal
body function. More specifically, skeletal muscles are necessary in support and movement and
visceral muscles are primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way to understand this is to consider NMJ activity and neurotransmitter systems. A
neuromuscular junction is an important part in the transmission of an impulse from the brain to
particular areas of the body to elicit a reaction or a movement. More specifically, some skeletal
muscles will often not contract unless stimulated through a cascade of neurological transmission.
However, cardiac and smooth (visceral muscles) can contract without this stimulation. Thus, focusing
on skeletal muscles action about neurological disease will give clear

her dull life: For the first time she recognized anew the symptoms of infatuation which had felt
incipiently as a child, as a girl in her earliest teens, and later as a young woman (Chopin 75). Literally
the novel deals with death when Edna commits suicide and figuratively she s already dealt with death
by being married to her husband before she awakens into a new life. She grew daring and reckless,
overestimating her strength. She wanted to swim far out, where no woman had swum before (Chopin

Edna wanted to swim in the ocean farther than any other woman had ever done, and she became
taunted with the idea of doing so. But the figurative context of this quote is that she wanted to escape
the duties of being a wife and mother, she no longer wanted to be a modern woman. There was a

There is not only one theory that why people become addictive to drugs, however there is always a
combinations of many factors. Here are the major two theories as to why this social problem of drug
abuse exists in the society. Firstly, The genetic theory (Schukit. P.no 452. Theories On Drug Abuse ) is
related to biological aspects. Genetic factor plays a pivotal role in the physiological drive of an
individual. Genetic theory means transmission of genes to children by their parents. An individual
may become addictive to the substance if any of his ancestor was also addicted to that same substance.
Secondly, Self esteem theory (Howar B. Kaplan,Phd. Pno157. Theories On Drug Abuse ), this theory
is based upon self esteem motives. The key variables of self esteem theory are drug availability,
feelings of inferiority or superiority, social pressure/acceptability, coping mechanism, immediate
gratification and life style. People falls under the theory of self esteem become dependents of illicit
substances like hallucinogens, barbiturates, amphetamines, marijuana and alcohol. These substances
are observed as an alternative action to self rejecting attitudes.
At three levels the social issue of drug and addiction can be seen in society. These three levels are
Micro, Macro and Meso. The social issue under Micro level theory of drug abuse and addiction

It is no secret that high school and college has become more competitive, but the public doesn t realize
just out of control this world is. Overachieverism has become a way of life, a social norm. It is a world
wide phenomenon that has swamped many of the world s top countries. Students are breaking under

This lifestyle of overachieving starts at an early age. It used to be you didn t need to start an activity or
sport until middle school or high school. Many people now know that if you want your child to excel
in something, you have to start at an early age. Boys start little league baseball and pee wee football at
seven or eight years old. Girls start dance or tumbling classes as early as three. Toddlers are being
tutored at age two. While all this may be hard to take in, what may surprise you is that you don t even
have to be born yet to start your education. A California obstetrician has developed courses to further
the intellectual skills of her students. The students? All fetuses. Then name of the school is, I kid you

because we have determined it to be the easiest way going forward. No member of our group has a
heavy physics background, and we are confident that Unity can handle most of the heavy lifting.
Details of all the major physics we believe are needed for our game are detailed below. This includes
the answer to questions like: how will it be used in our game and do we plan to use Unity to handle its
implementation or our own scripts. Collisions (Scott) Collisions and collision detection are a
fundamental aspect of any game. In a game like ours, they are absolutely critical. After all, it wouldn t
be fun to shoot at squishy humans with a railgun ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All we need to do is simply ensure that any object we want affected by gravity has a Rigidbody
component attached to it. Then, somewhere in a script we just need to call Physics.gravity = new
Vector3(xForce, yForce, zForce); . Using this, we can change the gravity to whatever we want
whenever we want. Friction (Matthew) Friction in our game will mainly come into play with the
enemy units. It will vary based on the world we are currently on such as the ice stage having less
ground friction than the flying platform stage. There are a few ways we plan to use friction. One such
way being that enemy units on some planets, like the ice world, will have a chance to slip which will
be like a de buff that stuns them temporarily and prevents them from moving. In order to account for
friction in our game s worlds, we plan to use Unity s Physic Material. Unity says that, The Physic
Material is used to adjust friction and bouncing effects of colliding objects. From our experience of
using these materials from the book s chapters, we know we can simply create a material and then add
it as a component to the ground object/terrain. Once we have done that, modifying friction is as simple
as changing the values. Projectiles (Destin) In chapter 5 page 84 of the book Physics for Game
Programmers by Grant Palmer, projectile physics is discussed. For our groups tower defense game, we
believe implementing the gravity only model is the best fit for our game. We

Freedom of the Press Essay
Freedom of the Press and How It Has Affected the American Political Process throughout History
Presented in Partial fulfillment of the Requirement for American Federal Gov 1114 Mark L. Hays
Tulsa Community College By E Man June 13, 2010 Freedom of the Press is a yearly report by U.S
based non governmental organization freedom house, measuring the level of freedom and editorial
independence enjoyed by the press in every nation and significant disputed territories around the
world. Levels of freedom are scored on a scale from 1 (most free) to 100 (least free). Depending on

It has often been asserted that differences in the two candidates television personae accounted in part
for Kennedy s election victory. Some, however, dispute the significance of the televised 1960 debates,
suggesting that while visual cues undoubtedly have the potential to influence voter perceptions, the
nature and extent of the influence remain a matter of speculation (Pendell and Vancil P.54 1988).
Furthermore; Keyton (1989) points out that Debates involving candidates for the 1988 presidential
nomination carry a similar message. Results of a study of college students revealed the finding that the
winner of the 1988 debate was predicted by perceptions of the candidate who projected the strongest
personal image, the greatest credibility, the most logical arguments, and the strongest emotional
appeals. Furthermore, voter preferences expressed after a first debate were strong predictors of
eventual candidate choice. In some political campaigns, even the lack of debates can have
significance. George Bush s successful 1988 presidential campaign employed debate avoidance, a
reliance upon emotional appeals and ridicule, and a de emphasis of issues. Both of the major U.S.
political parties have used such strategies, considered to be departures from ethical behavior (Kelly
1990). Men and women react differently to the media analysis that generally follows political debates.
A study conducted at the University of Florida during the

  • 2. Fate s Punishment For Athens Fate s Punishment for Athens The Landmark Thucydides is a history book on the Peloponnesian War written by an Athenian historian and general named Thucydides. Throughout the book, Thucydides recounts the war and tells of the many actions of his mother land Athens. In several of his descriptions Athens could be viewed as arrogant especially towards their accomplishments in war. He also tells of a terrible crime that Athens commits that could be described as genocide. Thucydides also describes several simpleminded mistakes that were made that crippled Athens in the end and could have been prevented with more through thinking. Despite being powerful and dominant on the battlefield the Athenians suffer crippling defeat in the end. The arrogance, cruelty, and foolishness that Athens displayed brought fate down on Athens and caused their defeat in the Peloponnesian War. Athens displayed their arrogance multiple times throughout the war. During a battle at Pylos Sparta attempted to make peace with Athens through a truce. When offered the truce, Athens rejects it thinking that The treaty would be ready for them whenever they chose to make it . (Landmark Thucydides. Book 4; 4.21, Pg.425). Athens had the audacity to think that Sparta would just wait for them to decide when they were done fighting which made them seem obnoxiously proud. Another time where Athens shows how arrogant they are occurs before the conference with the colony of Melos. Thucydides talks of the colony ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have been a slave my whole life and when our old owner died I thought that maybe our new owner Eliza, would set us free if I paid her. She actually liked me here and liked the earnings she got for paying me out. What I thought I could do after she said no was go to court. When our old owner died we had already lived in a free state so I thought that since I lived in a free state I was free. Unfortunately the first time I went to court I lost, the second time in a different court I was declared free I was so happy then I thought I would cry. Then our owner appealed to the supreme ... • 4. Alfalfa Sprouts, The Newest Pathogen Carrier Alfalfa Sprouts, the Newest Pathogen Carrier In the world today, nobody is safe. Whether it is from terrorist attacks, falling meteors or food outbreaks. Recently, there have been food produce outbreaks related to raw sprouts, especially alfalfa sprouts. These outbreaks have been related mostly to the pathogens Escherichia Coli 0157:H7 and Salmonella. Some symptoms related to these pathogens include diarrhea, cramps, stomach pain, and potential fever. These symptoms alone make people want to be extra careful when picking out their produce at the supermarket. The hardest part of these outbreaks are that people are dealing with raw spouts. Raw sprouts can be a great carrier of these pathogens, and there are no one way to get rid of every single pathogen exactly (Winthrop et al., 2002). These outbreaks can be from poor cleaning practices, imports of produce from other countries, or buying from larger food chains. In recent years, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have set new regulations and standards that people who are producing raw sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, need to follow in order to reduce the amount of outbreaks related to E. coli, Salmonella, and other related pathogens. There are multiply different ways to treat raw sprouts from seeds to full growth. No one way is right, but it is recommended that people do whatever possible to keep consumers and themselves safe. Some of these regulations that are put in place, include the disinfection of seeds and sprouts, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Fortuna Primigenia Research Paper The Temple of Fortuna Primigenia is a vast concrete sanctuary that sits within a large mountainside. The entire structure was installed on four platforms. These platforms acted as colossal steps up the hillside (Moffett 110). Both a set of ramps and a long, tall staircase linked each step . The temple itself is symmetrical and has an axial plan; both right and left sides are exactly mirrored. As you walk up to the structure, you must take in the different geometries of the sanctuary. The first shape is a large triangle that is mildly extruded. Large staircases run up to this upward pointed extrusion. A doorway is subtracted from the bottom center of this first structure as well as the sides. The side doorways are the entrances to inner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This cult worshiped the god of fate (Fortuna). The uppermost part of the temple was used for worship and cult services and rituals (Stamper 87). Below, there were many shops and outdoor areas where people could walk around. Much human interaction could be had on the terraces. There covered walks as well as wide open spaces where people could move around freely. These two general aspects were very different from each other. • 7. Mental Health Issues Of Vietnam Veterans Society does not accommodate the needs of Veterans in terms of housing and health services upon returning to civilian life. Vietnam veterans are infamously known for being homeless and having a host of mental health issues. Today s veterans have more support systems but the success of those systems may vary from region to region. In the Puget Sound region there are many homeless veterans despite efforts made by communities and municipalities. Issues of access to health care and inadequate community support intersect to form an underserved group of citizens who served in the military. Those who serve in the military are the often purported to be the ideal citizens who dedicate their lives to service. Veterans however are displaced and unable to fit within society without an array of different services. Veterans have engaged in the duty to kill others for the sake of the political community in order to secure their living and membership within society (Yuval Davis, 2012:208). The political community then has a responsibility to provide for the soldiers when they return to being citizens. The culture for those who come from the military is highly disciplined and has an emphasis accomplishing goals for the larger group. While Okonkwo was a strong and important figure in his tribe, he had to keep his reputation that way by making some hard decisions. One of them was when he had to kill Ikemefuna, a young boy from the neighboring tribe. Okonkwo started accepting the decision to kill Ikemefuna because he started to call Okonkwo father. He had to keep his own valor intact and kill the boy to prevent himself from showing any weakness, but deep down, Okonkwo was really upset because of what he did which was ironic, When did you become a shivering old woman, Okonkwo asked himself, you, who are known in all the nine villages for your valor in war? How can a man who has killed five men in battle fall to pieces because he has added a boy to their number? Okonkwo, you have become a woman indeed. (Achebe 65). Many of his versions of the plastic helmet continued to improve and became way safer than his first models of the plastic helmet. In 1951, Otto Graham, playing for the Browns, took an elbow to the face, in their game against the 49 ers. The side of his mouth was ripped open after the blow, and his coach, Paul Brown, had a lucite prototype put on his helmet by the Browns team manager. Sadly, since Cadence had all of those problems with her health she underwent vomiting, horror, migraines, blackouts, weight loss, terrible doctor visits and much more, but that wasn t even the worst part. All Cadence wanted to know was what happened. She wanted her mom to tell her memories of the summers before. Her mother tried, but it didn t work that well so she gave up. I intended my derogatory question for no one in particular because there were several nurses in the room at the time. Oh, ladies he is awake. One of the nurses told the rest. Um, sir, while you were at McDonald s you blacked out and suffered a minor concussion. The nurse also explained to me that I am okay to go if I felt better. Once I stepped out of that hospital bed my ungainly walking was a threat to the eyes; I felt so vulnerable at the time I didn t want to be seen in public like this. I decided that saimin was my delicacy and comfort food right now, and I stayed in the hospital bed for a few more hours as I devoured 3 bowls of saimin. There are others who view these shows as pointless and inappropriate. I agree with the latter. Daytime talk television is pointless and it presents material that should not appear on television. I believe that some talk shows need to be removed from the airwaves and not seen again. I feel that daytime talk television is both a good thing and can also be negative in its attempts to fight for ratings. Those shows that I believe should stay on television and continue to be run are the positive ones that have a goal that is based on people as opposed to those based on money and ratings. I believe Oprah is on of the only talk show hosts that does a good job in dealing with people and their problems. As Merry Thomas said, Oprah deals with topics that touch peoples hearts and she wants and tried to help those in need. She does several shows that are aimed at inspiring and helping her viewers. This idea of helping people can be seen through her show about family values. Oprah had Louie Anderson on the set, and he was discussing how fame has put stress on his family and the relationships within the family. Louie talked about how he tries to deal with his family and their constant desire for financial support. His brother came on, and they discussed the problem in a calm, relaxed way and how it has strained their relationship. Her kind of show is the kind we need more of on television. • 29. Five Paragraph Essay On Night By Elie Wiesel A cry pierces the night air. You look around in fear as you hear a woman s screams, Fire! I can see a fire! I can see a fire! (22). There is nothing there. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. There was no way you could ever have known what was to come. The morning never came and you suddenly you could see the flames everywhere. No one anticipated the monstrosity that would become known as the Holocaust. Elie Wiesel certainly didn t see it coming. He was one of the many Jewish people sent to concentration camps. Ten years after the end of World War 2 Elie decided to sit down and write his memoir, entitled Night, about the time he spent there. It is a brutally honest look at the Holocaust. Throughout the book there is a repeated mantra of fire. He describes the fire and smoke with vivid detail. If you look close enough you begin to see the deeper meaning of the fire. In Night, Elie Wiesel uses the mantra of fire to explain the terror and closeness of death that the prisoners are in constant fear of during the Holocaust. ... Once Elie arrives at the camp he sees the smoke from the crematorium for the first time. The deaths of so many innocent people occured in that death factory. • 32. Network Built For Local Area Networks Essay WANs are systems built for information exchange that connects computers from anywhere in the world across the globe. A wide area network (WAN) is generally used by large corporations or organizations. WANs are very useful to these sorts of associations because it easily allows them to deploy data from their computers to disseminate offices. Large organizations that use multiple facilities usually end up using WANs. Smaller businesses are increasingly using WANs as well. They are able to use WANs if they have at least two secluded sites. WAN usually connects two or more LANs together. LAN stands for local area networks. The internet that we all use is very much considered a WAN. WANs have existed for many years. They are methodical and controlled much differently from other types of telecommunication systems. WANs are very similar to LANs because they serve almost the same purpose. WANs are still a bit more intricate than LANs of course. In order for a user to use WAN, they first would have to subscribe to a telecommunication providers service. The organizations that choose to use WANs do not own or control any of the communication lines that connect the secluded network systems to other computers. WANs are not used to connect individual computers with each other. They were built to link different LANs together. When the WAN connects the LANs to each other this is called internetwork. Today s women joining the Canadian Armed Forces are equally eligible with men for combat roles. Over 229,000 women serve on active duty in the military services of the Department of Defense. This monumental step allows women to become takers, as well as producers of life. Women now have equal rights and responsibilities in the defense of our country. These advances have been made, not only on the ground but in the air as well. In 1988, Deanna Brasseur became Canada s first female fighter pilot. That same year, the defense department appointed their first female general, Sheila Hellstrom. The department also stated that women often do better at riflery than men due to the fact that they listen to instruction while men tend to think they know it all. A male veteran sergeant, proud of his work with female recruits, says that: Today s women won t find anything that hard to adjust to in the military. The facts are telling a tale. Victor became so obsessed with creating life, that it clouded his judgment, and took up all of his time and energy. • 35. Muscle Involvement In Muscle Disease Involvement of muscles in neurological disease has been extensively studied over the past century. By 1830, Charles Bell had identified muscular dystrophy as a cause of progressive weakness among boys (McConville Vincent, 2002). After extensive research, it was established that the disorder was of neurological origin. Together with other diseases such as Myasthenia gravis, Parkinson disease among others, it has been determined that muscular involvement in these diseases arises from the neuromuscular connection. More importantly, many neural transmissions occur at the muscle junctions through the actions of neurotransmitters. Any changes in the amount or structural defects of the synapse cause muscular weakness and gradually loss of function. In other severe cases, loss of nerves at the junctions causes permanent disability since nerves cannot be regenerated. This focus will examine existing literature to provide an association of muscles properties and neurological involvement.
