Back To The Future Structure
Back to the Future is regarded as one of the most classic movies from the 80s. Though up until this
class I had never seen it. The movie recounts the story of Marty McFly as he tries to get back from the
past after the scientist Doc Brown accidentally sends him back. Furthermore, Marty must also have his
parents fall in love after mistakenly changing the course of time. The film can be viewed as a simple
coming of age story from the 80 s with a unique structure when it comes to time, but when examined
more closely gives a clear example of how the narrative structure works. Narrative structure is how
the narrative or story is shown to the audience in its 3 acts. The narrative structure molds the viewing
experience, through character development

Leadership As A Leader And A Manager Essay
Within a group, the member who fulfills the role of the leader will invariably have both a direct and
indirect effect on the group as a whole (Beattie, Girvan, Rayner, Rayner Bell, 2014). In the words of
John C. Maxwell: A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. Throughout
history, there have been a countless number of people that are identified as leaders. An effective leader
will possess the desired characteristics and will be able to assess a variety of tasks. According to
Dereli (2003), there are a number of definitions of leadership, and the literature suggests that there is a
distinction between a leader and a manager. Winston and Patterson (2006) state that leadership is
defined as one or more individuals, who are able to select a variety of strategies, and influence
followers to work towards a common goal or objective. Darr s (2011) research distinguishes managers
and leaders based on the idea that managers take on the caretaker role, whereby maintaining the status
quo. This can be identified as a transactional leadership role (Darr, 2011). Odumeru and Ifeanyi (2013)
state that the transactional role requires the individual to supervise and organise group performance.
Darr (2011) also states that in comparison to a manager, leaders are seen to be more as visionaries and
much more dynamic. Many leaders are viewed differently, because they possess or demonstrate
transformational leadership qualities and characteristics . Yukl (1999)

Earthquake Vs Rat Island Earthquake
Earthquakes have the potential to destroy and cause a lot of harm or they just make the ground shake a
little. Sometimes earthquakes with low magnitudes cause a lot of harm, and a high magnitude one
causes a small amount of damage. This usually isn t the case. Two Earthquakes with high magnitudes
each caused a different amount of damage. These two are the earthquake that happened in Sumatra,
Indonesia in December 26, 2004, and the earthquake that happened in Rat Island , Alaska in April 2,
1965.
The Rat Island earthquake had the magnitude of 8.7, and the Sumatra earthquake had the magnitude of
9.1. While both of these are high magnitudes but the one in Sumatra was devastating, while the one in
Rat Island made a small amount of damage.

The Creation Of Dynamite Sacrifice
Without the creation of dynamite and other modern explosives in the 1850 1900 era, westward
expansion of railroads would have been impossible. There were a number of both positive and
negative aspects to it; it helped to a huge degree with being able to build across the mountain ranges
along the country, although a large number of people were killed by the explosives. In the 1860 s and
70 s, a lot of the United States was unexplored. This was mostly due to the lack of adequate
transportation that was available at the time. Many people attempted to move across the country in
carriages drawn by oxen or horses, but only a tiny percentage were able to make it across, and for
them it took years. When the idea of building a railroad was presented, it seemed next to impossible
due to looming mountains that would spend hundreds of years to tunnel through with a pickaxe. That
was when dynamite came into the picture. Explosives were useful because they were able to
completely eliminate sections of mountain ranges at a time. This meant that crossing from one side of
the country to another took significantly less time, and new means of transportation were ... Show

If used incorrectly or too close to people, dying is unavoidable. This is because of the high pressure
emitted by the explosion, which causes a shortage of oxygen and failure of necessary organs. Since we
did not know much about explosions at the time railroad expansion was happening, many people were
not sure of the correct way to use it or how to keep themselves alive when blowing up massive
sections of mountains. This caused thousands on thousands of deaths across the nation. Along with the
loss of innocent lives, death slowed down the railroad expansion because new employees had to be
hired regularly due to death. It proved difficult as people were scared by the fatality rate, and
ultimately delayed efficiency though not too

Patch Vulnerabilities
Introduction Security will always be a driving emphasis for the success of an organization. As
technology continues to grow and develop, there is a greater need for understanding threat
environments. The growing anxiety with security and privacy concerns make receiving a virus on a
personal or company computer dangerous. It is vital that both individuals and organizations take the
time to understand how to protect themselves from schemes used by hackers. It only takes one mistake
for a hacker to have control of your computer. A proper understanding of security offers direction for
improving business procedures and educating users of acceptable threat management and
authentication practices. The management of network and application security ... Show more content

The false gospel like Malware in a computer, will damage the relationship between God and the
believer. The warning to Christians is seen in 2 John 9 11, Everyone who goes on ahead and does not
abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father
and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your
house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works (ESV).
Furthermore, Christians must trust the authenticity of the Word and not be fooled by those who try to
modify the Word of God. Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone
s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God
as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20 21). Only through the authentication of
Christ can believe stand before God. For the is one God, and there is one mediator between God and
men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the
proper time (1 Timothy 2:5 6, ESV). Believers have security in the Word of God and through Jesus
Christ and nothing

F.D.R. s Influence as President Essay
F.D.R. s Influence as President
Some have called him the best president yet. Others have even claimed that he was the world s most
influential and successful leader of the twentieth century. Those claims can be backed up by the
overwhelming support that he received from his citizens throughout his four terms in office. President
Franklin Delano Roosevelt began a new era in American history by ending the Great Depression that
the country had fallen into in
1929. His social reforms gave people a new perspective on government. Government was not only
expected to protect the people from foreign invaders, but to protect against
poverty and joblessness. Roosevelt had shown his military and diplomatic skill as the ... Show more

In this speech, he brought emotions from the audience in his last line, I pledge to you, I pledge to
myself, to a new deal for the
American people.
During the November campaign against Hoover, Roosevelt suggested a few parts of the so called New
Deal . He spoke of relief and public works money. He wanted to
develop a plan to cut agricultural overproduction. He was for public power, conservation and
unemployment insurance. The repeal of prohibition and stock exchange regulation were also big items
on his platform.
However, other than the aforementioned items, Roosevelt was quite vague about other plans. He
mentioned little about his plans for industrial recovery or labor laws. As much foreign policy
experience as he had, he talked very little of it during the campaign.
Many believe that he was simply trying to home in on the problems that the American public saw
most prominent at the time.
When it came to election day, Roosevelt was the only viable alternative to
Hoover, who many blamed for the Great Depression, although critics argue that it was the presidents
preceding the Hoover Administration. The outcome reflected this thinking: Roosevelt won 22,821,857
votes compared to Hoover s 15, 761,841.
Roosevelt
also won the electoral 472 to 59. The voters had sent large majorities of Democrats to both houses as
well, which would enable Roosevelt to accomplish more by pushing through more bills.

Analysis Of The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein
In the text The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein, he wrote about a tree and a boy, which didn t really
mean that he decided to write a book about a boy who received items from a tree, he used the tree to
replace it as someone who loves the little boy. The author wanted to convey an idea of how you should
appreciate the sacrifices the people makes for you. Other people makes sacrifices for you to make you
happy. They are being generous to others. This is what Shel Silverstein wanted to convey through the
book The Giving Tree. You can tell that Shel Silverstein wanted his readers to think of the idea of
appreciating the sacrifices other people makes for you because he continuously write how the tree was
happy when she gave away and made sacrifices to make the boy happy. It made her happy and she
didn t expect anything back from the boy.

What he asked the tree for wasn t what he really what the boy needs, he is asking for what he wants
and not appreciating it. This is evident when the text states, I want to buy things and have fun. I want
some money. It also states, I want a house to keep me warm. I want a wife and I want children. Later
on in the text it states, I want a boat that will take me far away from here. As you can see, what the
boy asks is not out of need, it is out of want and he doesn t do anything that shows the appreciation of
how generous the tree is in giving him what he wants. The author shows that the tree doesn t feel
appreciated by the boys attitude by saying, And the tore was happy... but not really. This shows that
even though the tree was usually always happy when she gave away herself to the boy, this time she w
s still happy because she helped someone but she was a little sad at the way the boy kind of ignored

Civil Inattention
This chapter was an eye opener for me and very informative, but I was really interested in civil
inattention. I say this because I am sure we all experience civil inattention everywhere from just
simply walking outside, going to the movie theaters, shopping at the mall, shopping at the
supermarket, etc. I find it interesting because this is not something that we would even notice or talk
about. I know in this society, we don t regularly talk to strangers, we try to avoid eye contact as much
as possible. When people stare at you longer than what s acceptable and it doesn t take the attention in
the way it was meant to be, then anger could be a result due to misunderstanding. For example, my
nephew went to Boston for of a job opportunity and

The War Against Terror and China s Treatment of the Uigher Ethnic Minority
In the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, President George W. Bush
reached out to the world to back the U.S. in a war to eradicate terrorism. One of the more surprising
participants in this coalition, China, had until that point been at odds with U.S. policy but seemed to
find sufficient common ground with the U.S. to support the war. In recent months however, China has
not been lauded for unprecedented cooperation with its strategic competitor but has instead been
criticized for using the war on terror as carte blanche to step up its Strike Hard campaign in the Uigher

Between 1944 and 1949 the Turkic Islamic Republic of Eastern Turkestan was established; this short
lived period of impendence came to an end when the Communist Party formerly incorporated the
province into the PRC with the agreement of the leaders of the Eastern Turkestan Republic. [1]The
agreement of the leadership did not, however, quell the movement for independence; a number of
political and religious leaders refused to accept Beijing as the legitimate authority over the region. In
the midst of the widespread upheaval of the Cultural Revolution, the separatist movement was able to
organize into the Eastern Turkestan People s Party, although fear of Red Guard attacks were pervasive
and prevented any significant expression of minority or separatist sentiment.[2] The demise of the
Maoist era, however, would bring reforms and consequently new justifications and opportunities for
expression of separatist sentiment among the Uigher population.
Deng Xiaoping s accession to power brought with it reform and opening policies intended to bring
about the modernization and industrialization of China. This brought about serious demands on
natural resources such as oil, in which Xinjiang is abundant. The arrival of companies to extract these
natural resources brought an influx of Han Chinese and a noticeable distinction between the lifestyles
and opportunities

Contributions Of Emile Durkheim
Pioneer French sociologist Emile Durkheim was born on April 15, 1858 in Epinal, France. Coming
from a family background whom were all rabbis , Durkheim was Jewish but decided to lead a secular
life and ultimately led him along with his hard work to be admitted to École Normale SupĂ©rieure in
1879 (Carls). While attending the university, Durkheim studied Greek, Latin studies and philosophy
with peers. Durkheim was unsatisfied with the course so rebelled because of his interest of moral
doctrines and scientific instruction (Bancroft). This means that he was in search for a more social
scientific outlook such as social ethics and sociology. Since there was no social science course at the
time Durkheim was placed second to last in his graduating class in 1882 (Bancroft). In addition, since
there was no available sociology course at the time; Durkheim with knowledge of philosophy decided
to teach philosophy in the academic institutions of France. A leave of absence was given later to
Durkheim for further study on social science and philosophy in Germany. With his German studies he
also published reports on his German experiences and German academic life (Bancroft). Given the
fact of Durkheim s accomplished work, he was granted the opportunity to teach social science at the
University of Bordeaux in 1887. Equally important, was the fact that Durkheim was able to reform the
French school system by introducing the first sociology course. In the same year
Durkheim married his wife Louise Dreyfus and had two children Andre and Marie Durkheim. As
Durkheim continued to persevere, he published and continued more important work such as The
Division of Labor in Society in 1893, two years later published Rules of the Sociological Method and
a year later founded the journal L Année Sociologique( Bancroft). Besides the accomplishments
Durkheim has made, he has also had complications along the way. For instance, Durkheim had two
unsuccessful attempts to pass the entrance examinations for École Normale SupĂ©rieure, being placed
at the bottom of the list of his graduating class, and World War 1 took the lives of pupils Durkheim
had known and his own son and was not able to emotionally recover from his loss (Carls). He

Tourism And Outdoor Tourism
Just as fashion or civil rights change over time, tourism changes as well. Outdoor recreation is one
subcategory of tourism that has seen many changes. The National Park Service is a public agency that
is responsible for protecting public lands in the United States. The first national park was established
in 1872 and the National Park Service was founded in 1916 (Frequently, 2017). Since then, the
number of parks and number of visitors to the parks has increased tremendously. This increased
number of visitors has changed the way we use the parks for recreation and the impact we have on the
ecosystems in the parks.
Tourism is defined as recreational travel (Russell, 2017) and comes in many forms. People enjoy
traveling to other countries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2016, approximately 330,971,689 people visited the national parks (Frequently, 2017), many more
than 326,506 when the National Park Service was created (Visitation, 2015). Yellowstone National
Park comes in at 4,097,710 visitors in 2015. At the time of publication, the National Park Service
reported 13,256,763,256 visits to all NPS protected areas since 1904 (Visitation, 2015).
As the number of visitors to the national parks increases, the impact on environmental quality and
visitor experience increases as well. More people means a greater impact on the vegetation as people
hike around the protected lands. When people hike through already delicate ecosystems, they destroy
potential habitats and food sources for the animals and insects in the parks. When the animals no
longer have adequate food or habitats, they either leave the area or die off. When animals leave the
area, other animals lose potential food sources. When the animals die, it puts the species at a higher
risk of extinction (Dustin, 2016, 47).
In addition to the purely environmental impact, an increased number of visitors leads to lower visitor
satisfaction. Many people visit the parks to experience the natural beauty of our country without large
crowds. However, the parks are becoming more and more crowded each year. The environmental
impact the visitors have on the parks also decreases the

Since the late 1960 s, Jack White s mixed media abstract work, defined as abstract impressionism , has
been inspired by African art forms and symbolism. The works included in the Ancestral Image
exhibition are outside the boundaries of traditional painting or sculpture. They contain elements of the
spiritual, the artistic, and the utilitarian that define African art. Reflecting on his work, White states,
Like most human beings I am curious about my ancestors; as a black American, I can know only that
they came from Africa. Art gives me the power to explore the lives of those ancestors and expose
audiences, minority and mainstream, to my discoveries.
While serving in the Air Force, White was both stimulated and inspired by the cultures he was
exposed to during his world travels. White s global experience manifests in much of his art, with
paintings, that are a mixture of various media that construct abstracted visual landscapes.

The ability for an educator to produce a safe learning environment should not take years of chaos and

I believe the improvement of my students is attributed to the improvement of my skills in the above
mentioned areas of classroom management.
Even though improvement has been made, there is still more work to be done. Two areas that need
improvement deal with peer mediation techniques and forming successful partnerships with parents.
The first seldom happens and the latter happens with less frequency I had hoped for in finding support
for student learning and behavior. One example where peer mediation would be effective is conflict
between students arising from something done or said to them. For instance, a child approached me to
say someone hit them when in fact the other child was trying to remove a bug off the accusers back.
This misunderstanding or miscommunication consumes time away from instruction and does not
empower children to solve conflicts correctly on their own. Another area I want to focus on is
establishing more partnerships with parents. Even though I did establish a handful of partnerships by e
mailing parents activity pictures of their child throughout the year, I feel much more can be
accomplished. The quality of such a relationship as reported by Gurland and Evangelista (2015)
predicts the outcome of future achievements. Thus, the following are SMART goals created to
strengthen the areas pertaining to peer mediation and parent relationships. By September 5, 2016,

Essay on Japanese Internment in Canada
The core of the Japanese experience in Canada lies in the shameful and almost undemocratic
suspension of human rights that the Canadian government committed during World War II. As a result,
thousands of Japanese were uprooted to be imprisoned in internment camps miles away from their
homes. While only a small percentage of the Japanese living in Canada were actually nationals of
Japan, those who were Canadian born were, without any concrete evidence, continuously being
associated with a country that was nothing but foreign to them. Branded as enemy aliens , the
Japanese Canadians soon came to the realization that their beloved nation harboured so much hate and
anti Asian sentiments that Canada was becoming just as foreign to them as ... Show more content on

The initial reaction to Pearl Harbor was to take cautious emergency actions to avert civil unrest. Soon,
the Canadian government passed the War Measures Act. It gave permission to intern all undesirable
Japanese, tie up every Japanese owned fishing boat in British Columbia, close all Japanese language
schools, forbid the publishing of newspapers in Japanese, and seize all Japanese property. All of which
were subsequently carried out. In 1941, there were twenty three thousand five hundred Japanese
persons in Canada, residing mainly on the coast of British Columbia. Of that, six thousand seven
hundred were Canadian born, seven thousand were naturalized citizens, and the rest were nationals of
Japan. However, nothing could make any difference. To the typical, white British Columbian, the
Japanese were all lower class citizens. Five hours after the attack on Pearl Harbour, forty eight
Japanese planes bombed Hong Kong where two Canadian battalions were stationed, and were
inflicted with heavy casualties. The problem of the resident Japanese in British Columbia was then
quickly set into the mainstream focus. Prior to declaring war on Japan, Mackenzie King had stated
that the enemy country had wantonly and treacherously attacked British territory, and that Japan s
actions [were] a threat to the defence and freedom of Canada.

Alfalfa Sprouts, The Newest Pathogen Carrier
Alfalfa Sprouts, the Newest Pathogen Carrier
In the world today, nobody is safe. Whether it is from terrorist attacks, falling meteors or food
outbreaks. Recently, there have been food produce outbreaks related to raw sprouts, especially alfalfa
sprouts. These outbreaks have been related mostly to the pathogens Escherichia Coli 0157:H7 and
Salmonella. Some symptoms related to these pathogens include diarrhea, cramps, stomach pain, and
potential fever. These symptoms alone make people want to be extra careful when picking out their
produce at the supermarket. The hardest part of these outbreaks are that people are dealing with raw
spouts. Raw sprouts can be a great carrier of these pathogens, and there are no one way to get rid of
every single pathogen exactly (Winthrop et al., 2002). These outbreaks can be from poor cleaning
practices, imports of produce from other countries, or buying from larger food chains.
In recent years, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have set new regulations and standards that
people who are producing raw sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, need to follow in order to reduce the amount of
outbreaks related to E. coli, Salmonella, and other related pathogens. There are multiply different
ways to treat raw sprouts from seeds to full growth. No one way is right, but it is recommended that
people do whatever possible to keep consumers and themselves safe. Some of these regulations that
are put in place, include the disinfection of seeds and sprouts, as

The Impacts of Crohn s Disease on Daily Life

Malcolm X Movie Analysis
The film Malcolm X was released in 1992. In the movie, Malcolm X is portrayed by Denzel
Washington. It is a biographical drama that depicts the life and legacy of African American civil rights
leader, Malcolm X. One theme that I found to be very evident throughout this film is evolution. To
evolve means to gradually go through a major change. This film effectively captures Malcolm X
evolving from a troubled teen with a rough childhood into one of the most influential and powerful
leaders of all time. Malcolm Little was born on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. Both of his
parents were proclaimed pan africanist and followers of black nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. There
were also very active in the Universal Negro Improvement Association. When Malcolm was 6 years
old, his father was killed by members of a white supremacist group called the Black Legion, mainly
because of him involvement with UNIA and his commitment to pan africanism and the advancement
of colored people, which was highly frowned upon during that time. When he was 13 years old, his
mother was admitted into a mental health facility after suffering a nervous breakdown. Consequently,
Malcolm and his 10 siblings were separated and sent to various foster homes. In 1943, Malcolm
moved to Harlem, New York where he began to engage in several illegal activities such as drug
dealing, robbery, pimping, and gambling. In 1946, he was arrested and sent to jail for larceny and

The use of pathos and ethos in tandem strengthens his writing, but also leads to some parts being
almost tedious. As PFCs or Spec 4s, most of them were common grunts and carried the standard M 16
gas operated assault rifle. The weapon weighed 75 pounds unloaded, 8.2 pounds with its full twenty
round magazine. Depending on numerous factors, such as topography and psychology, the riflemen
carried anywhere from twelve to twenty magazines... (O Brien 1990). This paragraph almost drones
on losing the reader in a myriad of technical mumbo jumbo and measurements before getting back on
target with the story of the soldier s life in the field. The organization of the text can be hard to follow
when he goes on about the equipment. On the other hand O Brien takes the role of narrator; clearly he
is invested emotionally in the story. However, the drama of the moment can be diluted with too much
fact and not enough emotion. Taking each character and peeling back the soldier layers to expose us to
the person underneath, he also creates moments that are poignant and riveting. For the most part they

Social-Emotional Development And Social Emotional Development
What is Social Emotional Development?
Social emotional development is the ability of a child to identify and understand own and others
feelings, manage own feelings and behaviours, develop empathy for others and establish positive and
rewarding relationships with peers. Social emotional development encompasses both intrapersonal and
interpersonal processes.
A child must have social emotional skills, so that he/she can gain the basic skills they need. These
basic skills include cooperation, following directions, demonstrating self control and paying attention.
Feelings of trust, confidence, pride, friendship, affection and humour are all a part of a child s social

When they grow older, they are able to use words to express emotions. Their expression of emotion
can be positive or negative. Positive emotions enable relationships to form, while negative emotions

Empathy: Empathy is important to strengthen social bonds. To support the development of empathy in
young children, adults can create a culture of caring in the early childhood environment by helping
children understand the feelings of others is an integral aspect of the curriculum of living together.
Emotion Regulation: Emotion regulation reflects the interrelationship of emotions, cognitions, and

Adults can provide positive role models of emotion regulation through their behaviour, verbal and
emotional support they offer children in managing their emotions.
Impulse Control: Children s developing capacity to control impulses helps them adapt to social

Attending A Traditional Classroom Setting
I have been fortunate enough to attend college in a traditional classroom setting as well as an online
setting; I can say for my academic journey the online setting better suited my learning type. When I
graduated high school I went to a traditional university, I did not do well and ended withdrawing and
failing classes. I attended an online university a few years later and found that it was a lot more
conducive to my learning style. The traditional college setting may be better suited for students that
may need more structure for learning. Sitting in a classroom with a professor telling you exactly what
assignments are, and when they are due is needed for some students. In a traditional college setting the
professor will stand in front of the class and give a lecture, at times this lecture will be far from what
is needed and filled with those professors personal opinions. Then at a time where you will be given
an exam, the material was given is nothing of what the professor lectured on. So in essence, the
student will have to sit and listen to a professor lecture and then do their own reading and research.
When attending an online program, the student is responsible for making the time to read, study, and
complete the necessary work. Myself, I cannot say that I will be able to carve out two to four hours a
couple times a week to listen to a professor speak. My opinions are harsh, but that comes from actual
experiences. Logging on and reading what I need

A Campaign Against Kfc
1) I personally do not support KFC Corporation or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in this
controversy. This is because I myself am not a fan of meat and do not like the taste personally, but I
also do not think it is all right by any means with what they do to the animals. I believe that they are
completely abusing these animals so carelessly and it is extreme animal cruelty. I feel like a majority
of other people would say it is perfectly fine though. This is because many people do like meat and
businesses are going to continue on harming the animals and receiving their meat and selling it to
make profit. People will always continue to buy it because places are providing it for them and they

PETA is also trying their best to make a big deal out of this and draw as much attention as possible for

the change.
6) I absolutely 100% believe that animals have rights because they are alive just like us human beings
are. Animals definitely have emotions and feelings just like we do and can also speak out lout but we
necessarily cannot always figure out what they are trying to portray. I believe since we are human
beings, we should be the ones to make sure animals are safe and can live without being harmed in the
wild or as pets, in other words that can be looked at as our duty.
From the reading of the case and how PETA portrayed KFC being cruel and not handling their
chickens respectfully, I do not think that they protect animal welfare at an acceptable level. They can
definitely make they changes that PETA stated about the business. Either way, many people are going
to have different perspectives about this and may think that what KFC is doing is completely fine

Everyone can say they have fallen into a deep sleep and have had a series of thoughts, images, and

people to pass information and entertainment. This paper will discuss different aspects of
communication. These aspects include the explanation of the two communication types and how
nonverbal communication can help the communication with others. Another item that will be
discussed will involve results based on a survey taken that is on communication.
People have communication using two different types. These types include verbal and nonverbal

Nonverbal communication is defined as the message components that is used instead of words to
generate meaning (Engleberg, 2013, Chapter 6: Verbal and Nonverbal Communication in Groups ).
Verbal communication can occur in several different ways, like talking to someone in person, on the
telephone, or using email for example. Using these techniques allows people to use words to share
information. Examples of nonverbal communication would include body language or tone of voice.
These allow people within the group to read hidden messages about another person without their
knowledge. The speaker of the group will be sending multiple messages using both verbal (words) and
nonverbal (body language).

Motorcycle Jacket Advantages And Disadvantages
Introduction
If you have any prior experience with motorcycle protective gear, you are no doubt aware (painfully
so) that it can be quite expensive. A full set of protective equipment can set you back up to, and in
some cases beyond, $1000. Much of that outrageous price can be traced back to the motorcycle jacket,
which is an essential component of any collection of motorcycle equipment.
Quality motorcycle jackets tend to go for a couple of hundred dollars and it is extremely rare to find
one which sells for less than three figures. Because of this, the last thing you want to do is spend
money on multiple jackets to keep yourself safe all year round. Of course, you can t wear a jacket that

Coca Cola is a leading beverage industry in the United States and many other countries in the world.
PepsiCo is also a leading worldwide beverage company, but they are also the parent company of the

Regardless of the results, I will always seek out a Diet Pepsi over a Diet Coke and so will many of my

A Child Psychopath 1. What Are the Early Signs of Psychopathy?
2. What Motives in Early Childhood Can Cause Children to Commit Malicious Crimes?
3. Can Children Grow Out of Psychopathic Tendencies?
What Are the Early Signs of Psychopathy?
Although it is difficult to imagine a child being psychopathic, it is crucial that we are able to recognize
psychopathic behaviors in children. Mental health professionals say they could easily detect early
psychopathic tendencies in childhood, but do not want to actually label the child a psychopath yet
(Stenson, 2009). According to Duncan, it is difficult to imagine a child doing such things because
everyone automatically expects them to fit into the Innocent/ The Child archetype (Schill, 2012).
It is basic knowledge that children tend to act out all the time, but when is the behavior of children
passed the line of normalcy and crossed the line into psychopathy? It is normal for a child to be
occasionally aggressive, but a child being constantly aggressive could possibly be a sign of
psychopathy (Stenson, 2009) According to Keysers, The feeling of empathy is what makes the

After another few attempts, the light was significantly more yellow in colour, and I felt very pleased
with this outcome.
The Wand Extinguishing Charm, Nox, is a lot easier to use. At first, it took me a few attempts to get it
right, but I can successfully use it each time I require the effects of Lumos to be removed. It feels
really exciting to be using a spell that simple requires a flick of the wrist and a short word!
Lesson 2: Bright Lights and a Little Softener
A few days ago we learned about Verdimillious and Spongify. I have since had the chance to try out
both of them!
On Monday evening, I was running through the grounds to get back into the Castle before dark, when
I tripped on a tree root and fell over. I think I was unconscious for some time and when I awoke it was
quite dark. I tried to move, but I had broken my ankle. I needed to find a way of alerting someone to
where I was. My muggle grandfather had taught me Morse code when I was younger, so I thought I
might be able to use it with Lumos to attract attention. My head hurt and I wasn t able to concentrate
properly, so after saying Lumos! I could only see a faint white light that wouldn t really attract any
attention at all. I realise now that I had forgotten to think about charging the spell properly! I took a
few moments to rest.
I thought about Verdimillious too. I had picked it up pretty easily over the last

Autonomy in Medicine
Autonomy in Medicine
Finneaus Parker
National University
February 8, 2013
Dr. Schlitz
Autonomy is the personal rule of the self that is free from both controlling interferences by others and
from personal limitations that prevent meaningful choice (Pantilat, 2008). Autonomous individuals act
intentionally, with understanding, and without controlling influences. Respect for autonomy is one of
the fundamental guidelines of clinical ethics. Autonomy in medicine is not simply allowing patients to
make their own decisions. Physicians have an obligation to create the conditions necessary for
autonomous choice in others. For a physician, respect for autonomy includes respecting an individual
s right to self determination as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the majority of their lives patients seek treatment from a family physician that has a general
knowledge of their health status, behaviors, and family background. However, once patients reach the
age where multiple ailments require the consultation of several specialists, care can become
fragmented. The primary physician, who presumably knows the patient best, begins to play a smaller
role in deciding treatments and consulting the patient s family on advance directives. This
fragmentation and discontinuity of care is pervasive once the patient reaches the end of life, and thus
helps explain why treatment decisions at the end of life often differ from the wishes of the family and
even the patient.
The relationship between a physician and his or her patient is inherently driven by outcomes. By
default, a physician is trained to cure or mitigate the effects of the patient s illness until natural death.
However, the instinctive behavior of physicians at the end of life can result in more harm by
encouraging advanced treatments that reduce the quality of life in a patient s remaining days.
Evidence has demonstrated that this leads to greater dissatisfaction among patients and their families,
and it results in unnecessarily high instances of death in hospital

Analysis Of The Book The Things They Carried
1. Birth October 1, 1946; present 2. The things they carried was written in the late 1980 s and
published in 1990. The novel acts as a response to the era it discusses by solidifying the un
generalized version of war through fictional anecdotes from the narrator and characters. The truth is
never portrayed through historic context or media, and with this novel, the author was able to
reciprocate the emotions felt by soldiers from the graphic scenes or actions envisioned/written. 3.
Factors that influenced the author to publish this novel was partly due to his way of coping after war,
using stories to keep the imagination alive and causing the audience to reflect on their own lives.
Another is telling an honest view of the what war really is and how the soldiers were affected from the
start of being drafted until life after the Vietnam War, trying to find their identity. 4. The novel version
I used was paperback. To complete this section, I used websites for articles about O Brien s biography,
interviews from the author himself, and different analysis of the novel as my sources to understand the
varied perspectives.
II. Diction: 1. The diction for this novel is connotative. Although his writing can be straightforward
and literal, his reflection can provide varied meanings to what his ideas are. The author often changes
literary devices to get his point across. In one chapter, he can be specific on the little details that
depicts one s entity and then he can take

Introduction The most commonly used temperature units in science lab were Celsius, Fahrenheit, and
Kelvin. These three units can use certain equation to change its units from one to another. The specific
heat is a term for a number of calories in heat needed to raise the temperature of 1g of substance by
1ÂșC. A thermometer, beakers, and calorimeter were frequently used in this lab.
Procedure
The initial temperature of the water was measured when it is in beaker. When the salt is added, it is
concluded how salt can lower the water temperature. The temperature was measured in Celsius and
was changed to both Fahrenheit and Kelvin. The second experiment involved the heat exchange
between metal and water. The metal in beaker and water in calorimeter

The New Christian Counselor Summary
This is a review of the Hawkins Clinton book, The New Christian Counselor: A Fresh Biblical and
Transformational Approach. While the book in general is quite repetitive, it was more of twelve
chapters of a sermon rather than focused on the counseling, but it did have some important points
about the importance of Christian counseling throughout the book. Some points that the book makes
for the Christian counseling approach include the following:
Foundations: Christian counseling builds foundations on the process of redemption and restoration
(Hawkins Clinton, 2015, p. 21).
Defined: Christian counseling per the book is defined as a discipleship designed to help free people to
experience God s pardon, purpose and power (Hawkins Clinton, ... Show more content on

Education: College classes teaching this type of counseling is bringing this method more in the
forefront in the counseling communities.
Primary Goal: One of the primary goals in Christian counseling is to help the client establish a
relationship with God, as he is our harbor of safety in our darkest hours. Analysis When comparing
Hawkins Clintons approach to the integration models within the lectures it best represents the
Interdisciplinary integration. Their approach incorporates both theology and psychology in their
method of use. Both take a holistic viewpoint on what is best for their client s well being. They both
take the view that when a person is suffering with emotional problems, it affects the physical body and
the spirit (Brewer Clinton, n.d.). Both theories whether being used individually or together function on
the same concepts of building bridges or pathways been the counselor and the client in order to
develop a relationship that will enable the counselor to help in the healing of the mind, the body and
the soul/spirit as both psychology and theology both strive to succeed in. Faith plays a large role in
counseling as it enhances physical and mental health (Hawkins Clinton, 2015 p. 17) and it can in turn
show that faith filled clients become stronger and healthier physically and mentally (Hawkins Clinton,
2015 p. 17) and isn t that what all counselors strive to achieve for their clients they

Pluto Pros And Cons
People love Pluto, whether they are young or old it does not seem to matter. The planet (and Walt
Disney s beloved character) holds a special place in a lot of people s hearts. Yet, this only became
clear to me after reading The Pluto Files by Neil deGrasse Tyson. I remember when Pluto s
classification changed from being a planet to a dwarf planet however, I was never aware of how big of
a controversy it caused. The fact that there was a conference deciding whether or not we should keep
Pluto as our ninth planet was not something I was aware of previously to this book. Tyson does a
wonderful job explaining the story of Pluto and not only the how the planet was reclassified but also
why. As we spoke about in class Pluto does not really fit into the categories of being a planet, this was
one of the major arguments as to why Pluto should not be considered our nineth planet anymore. I
believe that it is interesting that some people were trying to then create a classification specifically for
Pluto. However, this obviously did not come to be as there must be more than one of something in
order for it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is surprising is how people reacted and continue to over the decision. I agree with Tyson when
he says Find quote about Pluto being the smallest planet and largest dwarf planet Yet, it is surprising
that a lot of people do not feel this way. Why are people so emotionally attached to an object that is
billions of miles away? Is it because it was one of the easier planets to remember in the solar system?
Or perhaps it was because it was the smallest and people tend to cheer for the underdog. No doubt
Disney s fun, loving pup had some help in the matter as well. Whatever the case people feel strongly
enough about the issue to write Tyson personally about the regrouping of their favorite planet. Again
what surprises me is that it was not only children but also

Gelatin Essay
Research Question:
What is the effect of the amount of pineapple in gelatin on the viscosity of that gelatin by measuring
the mass of pineapple added (g) as a function of the viscosity (s) of the gelatin after 5 hours of
refrigeration?
Background Research:
Gelatin is a protein that is composed of byproducts of animal bones, tendons and ligaments ( What is
gelatin made ). These specific parts of the body (connecting tissues) are made up of a protein called
collagen ( Why can t you put pineapple ). Collagen is a fibrous protein and is the most commonly
found protein in the bodies of humans. Through the hydrolysis of collagen, gelatin is formed.
Pineapples, and other tropical fruits, contain an enzyme called bromelain ( Why can t you put ... Show

After the five hours is over, remove each bowl of gelatin from the refrigerator.
8. Now, the viscosity of each bowl of gelatin must be calculated. This step will require the use of the
marble, graduated cylinder and the gelatin.
9. Firstly, the density of the marble must be calculated. This can be done with the formula d=m/v. M
stands for mass and V stands for volume. You can measure the mass by weighing the marble on a
scale. The volume can be calculated with V=(4/3) x pi x r3. The radius (r) can be measured by
measuring around the marble, which will give you the diameter, and then dividing it in half to get the
radius. Be sure to record this measurement as the density of the marble in a table.
10. Next, the density of the gelatin sample must be calculated. This can be done using the same d=m/v
formula. In order to do this, firstly, the graduated cylinder must be placed on a scale and measured
whilst empty. Then, pour 70 ml of the gelatin into the cylinder. Now, weigh the filled cylinder.
Subtract the weight of the empty cylinder from the filled cylinder s weight. The number you receive
will be the mass of the liquid. The volume of the liquid is 70 ml, as that is how much you poured into
the cylinder. Plug these numbers into the original formula to obtain the density of the liquid. Record
this number in your

  • 2. Back To The Future Structure Back to the Future is regarded as one of the most classic movies from the 80s. Though up until this class I had never seen it. The movie recounts the story of Marty McFly as he tries to get back from the past after the scientist Doc Brown accidentally sends him back. Furthermore, Marty must also have his parents fall in love after mistakenly changing the course of time. The film can be viewed as a simple coming of age story from the 80 s with a unique structure when it comes to time, but when examined more closely gives a clear example of how the narrative structure works. Narrative structure is how the narrative or story is shown to the audience in its 3 acts. The narrative structure molds the viewing experience, through character development ... • 3. Leadership As A Leader And A Manager Essay Within a group, the member who fulfills the role of the leader will invariably have both a direct and indirect effect on the group as a whole (Beattie, Girvan, Rayner, Rayner Bell, 2014). In the words of John C. Maxwell: A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. Throughout history, there have been a countless number of people that are identified as leaders. An effective leader will possess the desired characteristics and will be able to assess a variety of tasks. According to Dereli (2003), there are a number of definitions of leadership, and the literature suggests that there is a distinction between a leader and a manager. Winston and Patterson (2006) state that leadership is defined as one or more individuals, who are able to select a variety of strategies, and influence followers to work towards a common goal or objective. Darr s (2011) research distinguishes managers and leaders based on the idea that managers take on the caretaker role, whereby maintaining the status quo. This can be identified as a transactional leadership role (Darr, 2011). Odumeru and Ifeanyi (2013) state that the transactional role requires the individual to supervise and organise group performance. Darr (2011) also states that in comparison to a manager, leaders are seen to be more as visionaries and much more dynamic. Many leaders are viewed differently, because they possess or demonstrate transformational leadership qualities and characteristics . Yukl (1999) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were a number of both positive and negative aspects to it; it helped to a huge degree with being able to build across the mountain ranges along the country, although a large number of people were killed by the explosives. In the 1860 s and 70 s, a lot of the United States was unexplored. This was mostly due to the lack of adequate transportation that was available at the time. Many people attempted to move across the country in carriages drawn by oxen or horses, but only a tiny percentage were able to make it across, and for them it took years. When the idea of building a railroad was presented, it seemed next to impossible due to looming mountains that would spend hundreds of years to tunnel through with a pickaxe. That was when dynamite came into the picture. Explosives were useful because they were able to completely eliminate sections of mountain ranges at a time. This meant that crossing from one side of the country to another took significantly less time, and new means of transportation were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As technology continues to grow and develop, there is a greater need for understanding threat environments. The growing anxiety with security and privacy concerns make receiving a virus on a personal or company computer dangerous. Others have even claimed that he was the world s most influential and successful leader of the twentieth century. Those claims can be backed up by the overwhelming support that he received from his citizens throughout his four terms in office. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt began a new era in American history by ending the Great Depression that the country had fallen into in 1929. In this speech, he brought emotions from the audience in his last line, I pledge to you, I pledge to myself, to a new deal for the American people. During the November campaign against Hoover, Roosevelt suggested a few parts of the so called New Deal . He spoke of relief and public works money. He wanted to develop a plan to cut agricultural overproduction. He was for public power, conservation and unemployment insurance. The repeal of prohibition and stock exchange regulation were also big items on his platform. However, other than the aforementioned items, Roosevelt was quite vague about other plans. He mentioned little about his plans for industrial recovery or labor laws. As much foreign policy experience as he had, he talked very little of it during the campaign. Many believe that he was simply trying to home in on the problems that the American public saw most prominent at the time. When it came to election day, Roosevelt was the only viable alternative to Hoover, who many blamed for the Great Depression, although critics argue that it was the presidents preceding the Hoover Administration. The outcome reflected this thinking: Roosevelt won 22,821,857 votes compared to Hoover s 15, 761,841. Roosevelt also won the electoral 472 to 59. The author wanted to convey an idea of how you should appreciate the sacrifices the people makes for you. Other people makes sacrifices for you to make you happy. They are being generous to others. This is what Shel Silverstein wanted to convey through the book The Giving Tree. You can tell that Shel Silverstein wanted his readers to think of the idea of appreciating the sacrifices other people makes for you because he continuously write how the tree was happy when she gave away and made sacrifices to make the boy happy. • 12. Contributions Of Emile Durkheim Pioneer French sociologist Emile Durkheim was born on April 15, 1858 in Epinal, France. Coming from a family background whom were all rabbis , Durkheim was Jewish but decided to lead a secular life and ultimately led him along with his hard work to be admitted to École Normale SupĂ©rieure in 1879 (Carls). While attending the university, Durkheim studied Greek, Latin studies and philosophy with peers. Durkheim was unsatisfied with the course so rebelled because of his interest of moral doctrines and scientific instruction (Bancroft). This means that he was in search for a more social scientific outlook such as social ethics and sociology. Since there was no social science course at the time Durkheim was placed second to last in his graduating class in 1882 (Bancroft). In addition, since there was no available sociology course at the time; Durkheim with knowledge of philosophy decided to teach philosophy in the academic institutions of France. A leave of absence was given later to Durkheim for further study on social science and philosophy in Germany. With his German studies he also published reports on his German experiences and German academic life (Bancroft). Given the fact of Durkheim s accomplished work, he was granted the opportunity to teach social science at the University of Bordeaux in 1887. Equally important, was the fact that Durkheim was able to reform the French school system by introducing the first sociology course. In the same year Durkheim married his wife Louise Dreyfus and had two children Andre and Marie Durkheim. As Durkheim continued to persevere, he published and continued more important work such as The Division of Labor in Society in 1893, two years later published Rules of the Sociological Method and a year later founded the journal L AnnĂ©e Sociologique( Bancroft). Besides the accomplishments Durkheim has made, he has also had complications along the way. For instance, Durkheim had two unsuccessful attempts to pass the entrance examinations for École Normale SupĂ©rieure, being placed at the bottom of the list of his graduating class, and World War 1 took the lives of pupils Durkheim had known and his own son and was not able to emotionally recover from his loss (Carls). Yellowstone National Park comes in at 4,097,710 visitors in 2015. At the time of publication, the National Park Service reported 13,256,763,256 visits to all NPS protected areas since 1904 (Visitation, 2015). As the number of visitors to the national parks increases, the impact on environmental quality and visitor experience increases as well. More people means a greater impact on the vegetation as people hike around the protected lands. When people hike through already delicate ecosystems, they destroy potential habitats and food sources for the animals and insects in the parks. When the animals no longer have adequate food or habitats, they either leave the area or die off. When animals leave the area, other animals lose potential food sources. When the animals die, it puts the species at a higher risk of extinction (Dustin, 2016, 47). Even though improvement has been made, there is still more work to be done. Two areas that need improvement deal with peer mediation techniques and forming successful partnerships with parents. The first seldom happens and the latter happens with less frequency I had hoped for in finding support for student learning and behavior. One example where peer mediation would be effective is conflict between students arising from something done or said to them. For instance, a child approached me to say someone hit them when in fact the other child was trying to remove a bug off the accusers back. This misunderstanding or miscommunication consumes time away from instruction and does not empower children to solve conflicts correctly on their own. Another area I want to focus on is establishing more partnerships with parents. Even though I did establish a handful of partnerships by e mailing parents activity pictures of their child throughout the year, I feel much more can be accomplished. While only a small percentage of the Japanese living in Canada were actually nationals of Japan, those who were Canadian born were, without any concrete evidence, continuously being associated with a country that was nothing but foreign to them. I attended an online university a few years later and found that it was a lot more conducive to my learning style. The traditional college setting may be better suited for students that may need more structure for learning. Sitting in a classroom with a professor telling you exactly what assignments are, and when they are due is needed for some students. The bridge and the driftwood are the two most vital symbols in the story. Through the symbolism irony is created, setting the situation differently than anticipated. Peyton Farquhar, a civilian, passionate about the Southern cause was tricked by an union scout, and drawn to the bridge where a Union blockade was stationed. For the majority of their lives patients seek treatment from a family physician that has a general knowledge of their health status, behaviors, and family background. However, once patients reach the age where multiple ailments require the consultation of several specialists, care can become fragmented. The primary physician, who presumably knows the patient best, begins to play a smaller role in deciding treatments and consulting the patient s family on advance directives. This fragmentation and discontinuity of care is pervasive once the patient reaches the end of life, and thus helps explain why treatment decisions at the end of life often differ from the wishes of the family and even the patient. The relationship between a physician and his or her patient is inherently driven by outcomes. By default, a physician is trained to cure or mitigate the effects of the patient s illness until natural death. However, the instinctive behavior of physicians at the end of life can result in more harm by encouraging advanced treatments that reduce the quality of life in a patient s remaining days. The novel acts as a response to the era it discusses by solidifying the un generalized version of war through fictional anecdotes from the narrator and characters. The truth is never portrayed through historic context or media, and with this novel, the author was able to reciprocate the emotions felt by soldiers from the graphic scenes or actions envisioned/written. 3. Factors that influenced the author to publish this novel was partly due to his way of coping after war, using stories to keep the imagination alive and causing the audience to reflect on their own lives. Another is telling an honest view of the what war really is and how the soldiers were affected from the start of being drafted until life after the Vietnam War, trying to find their identity. 4. Faith plays a large role in counseling as it enhances physical and mental health (Hawkins Clinton, 2015 p. 17) and it can in turn show that faith filled clients become stronger and healthier physically and mentally (Hawkins Clinton, 2015 p. 17) and isn t that what all counselors strive to achieve for their clients they ... • 49. Pluto Pros And Cons People love Pluto, whether they are young or old it does not seem to matter. The planet (and Walt Disney s beloved character) holds a special place in a lot of people s hearts. Yet, this only became clear to me after reading The Pluto Files by Neil deGrasse Tyson. I remember when Pluto s classification changed from being a planet to a dwarf planet however, I was never aware of how big of a controversy it caused. The fact that there was a conference deciding whether or not we should keep Pluto as our ninth planet was not something I was aware of previously to this book. Tyson does a wonderful job explaining the story of Pluto and not only the how the planet was reclassified but also why. As we spoke about in class Pluto does not really fit into the categories of being a planet, this was one of the major arguments as to why Pluto should not be considered our nineth planet anymore. I believe that it is interesting that some people were trying to then create a classification specifically for Pluto. However, this obviously did not come to be as there must be more than one of something in order for it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is surprising is how people reacted and continue to over the decision. I agree with Tyson when he says Find quote about Pluto being the smallest planet and largest dwarf planet Yet, it is surprising that a lot of people do not feel this way. Why are people so emotionally attached to an object that is billions of miles away? Is it because it was one of the easier planets to remember in the solar system? Or perhaps it was because it was the smallest and people tend to cheer for the underdog. No doubt Disney s fun, loving pup had some help in the matter as well. Whatever the case people feel strongly enough about the issue to write Tyson personally about the regrouping of their favorite planet. Again what surprises me is that it was not only children but also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Gelatin Essay Research Question: What is the effect of the amount of pineapple in gelatin on the viscosity of that gelatin by measuring the mass of pineapple added (g) as a function of the viscosity (s) of the gelatin after 5 hours of refrigeration? Background Research: Gelatin is a protein that is composed of byproducts of animal bones, tendons and ligaments ( What is gelatin made ). These specific parts of the body (connecting tissues) are made up of a protein called collagen ( Why can t you put pineapple ). Collagen is a fibrous protein and is the most commonly found protein in the bodies of humans. Through the hydrolysis of collagen, gelatin is formed. Pineapples, and other tropical fruits, contain an enzyme called bromelain ( Why can t you put ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the five hours is over, remove each bowl of gelatin from the refrigerator. 8. Now, the viscosity of each bowl of gelatin must be calculated. This step will require the use of the marble, graduated cylinder and the gelatin. 9. Firstly, the density of the marble must be calculated. This can be done with the formula d=m/v. M stands for mass and V stands for volume. You can measure the mass by weighing the marble on a scale. The volume can be calculated with V=(4/3) x pi x r3. The radius (r) can be measured by measuring around the marble, which will give you the diameter, and then dividing it in half to get the radius. Be sure to record this measurement as the density of the marble in a table. 10. Next, the density of the gelatin sample must be calculated. This can be done using the same d=m/v formula. In order to do this, firstly, the graduated cylinder must be placed on a scale and measured whilst empty. Then, pour 70 ml of the gelatin into the cylinder. Now, weigh the filled cylinder. Subtract the weight of the empty cylinder from the filled cylinder s weight. The number you receive will be the mass of the liquid. The volume of the liquid is 70 ml, as that is how much you poured into the cylinder. Plug these numbers into the original formula to obtain the density of the liquid. Record this number in your ...
