Regional Trade Arrangements Of Africa And Their Motives Essay
2. Regional Trade Arrangements in Africa and Their Motives Regionalism has become one of the buzz
words in international trade diplomacy nowadays. There is almost no country in the world which does
not have membership in one or two regional economic integrations, and the coverage and scope of
these arrangements have grown more than ever before. Different authors have used different
approaches to define the concept of regional integration. Therefore, it is important to discuss the
definitions of economic integration according to the most prominent authors in the field of regional
integration before taking on the theoretical and empirical literatures of the concept. One of the widely
accepted definitions of economic integration is that of Balassa (1961), which is defined as the
abolition of discrimination within an area . Another very important definition of economic integration
relevant to developing countries is that of Kahnert, P. Richards, Stoutjesdijk, and Thomopoulos
(1969). According to these authors, economic integration is the process of progressive removal of
trade discriminations which occur at national borders . Furthermore, Machlup (1977) defines
economic integration as a process of merging separate economies into a larger economic region with
the objective of realizing the efficient utilization of all potential opportunities of the division of labor.
From the above definitions, it can be inferred that all the definitions spin around one central point; and

Persepolis House Essay
Ancient Near East has always been one of the major themes studied within Western Art. Many
impressive constructions characterize this culture: temples, gates, palaces and sculptures pieces.
Architecture and the development of large cities, such as Persepolis Palace, is a widely interesting
matter. This type of design provides the essential information on who build it, why it was build, for
whom and what it signifies to the people; it offers information of the communities thoughts, beliefs
and form of living. It was around 520 BCE when Darius I began the construction of the ambitious
Persepolis Palace, covering a 125.000 square meter. The construction of this, located in the Plateau of
the Zagros lands or Fars Providence, Iran, made the workers acknowledge many international styles.
To the people, it was a constant reminder of an entrance of all people. While grey limestone was the
main material used, other supplies found around the whole empire also helped with the construction:
cedar coming from Lebanon, yaka wood coming from Gandhara and Carmania and bricks coming
from Babylon. With great material used, the structure came to include courts, halls, and columns. The
Persepolis Palace, constructed by the great Darius I, expresses an internationalist style that establishes
the respectable knowledge of a powerful leader who depicted hospitality and the centralization of the
nation s government within the palace. By also tracing a historical and cultural background of the

Analysis Of The Croatian Market In Croatia
In order for a U.S. Company to enter the Croatian market it is important to have a thorough and deep
understanding of the intricacies of the market. In order to acquire this knowledge extensive research
and investigation has been conducted. Below I have included a general overview/ analysis of the
Croatian Market which facilitates market entry planning and projects. Market Overview Croatia is a
developing country situated in Southeastern Europe it has a relatively small yet complex market which
plays a very vital role when it comes to political and economic stability in the Balkan region. Croatian
population consists of a small 4,170.60 million people according to the World Bank s data.

A social mindset prevails in various parts of Croatian society. It is important to keep in mind that
Croatia has recently recovered from the Homeland war just twenty two short years ago. The country
has made tremendous strides towards reconstruction and recovery within the last decade. Some major
setbacks the country deals with today are that the majority of Croatian income comes from
government funding, social insurance, or public monopolies. Not from the revenues of truly
competitive companies. Therefore, any reforms that are introduced that are in opposition to or address
corruption, public overspending, or judicial inefficacy usually faces strong opposition from privileged
majority on top. On a more optimistic note Croatia has a growing force of entrepreneurs who have
innovative and vibrant ideas which are changing the way business in conducted in many industries in
Croatia. These entrepreneurs and their businesses follow strong EU regulations and rules which make
them perfect potential partners for American companies looking to expand in the region. Market
Challenges Croatia s developing Economy is still after its gained independence in 1991. A number of
internal problems plague Croatia s development. These include Judiciary inefficiencies infested with
case back logs and a lack of expertise in commercial affairs, and a complex non transparent
bureaucracy. Corruption is also a major issue that people battle with when conducting business

Wildlife Biologist Career Essay
The career I chose was a wildlife biologist. Wildlife Biologists study the physical and behavioral
characteristics of wildlife, as well as human actions on animals and their ecosystem. The duties of a
wildlife biologist range anywhere from writing a report to collecting data by experimenting and
observing. For instance, a wildlife biologist may have to collect data from observing animal
reproduction, interaction between species, and movement patterns. Other times, wildlife biologists
will spend time indoors writing papers that explain the data they collected, giving presentations, and
doing pre experiment research. Usually a wildlife biologist focuses on a specific type of species,
which can include marine mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles, ... Show more content on

The current demand for wildlife biologists isn t high, but in the future the demand will increase due to
human trends which include pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change. Although more
biologists will be needed in the future to study human impact on wildlife, the job employment is only
expected to increase by four percent (which is slower than usual) by 2024. The term wildlife refers to
birds, whales, gorillas, jaguars, rhinos, sharks, etc.. Like aforesaid, a wildlife biologist typically
specializes in one of these animal categories. However, choice may be limited based on location.
Coast states such as Florida, Texas, California, Alaska, Hawaii and others tend to offer many jobs in
marine biology. Other landlocked states may have jobs that focus on land wildlife. Generally
speaking, this career is available worldwide (including the Galveston area), therefore it wouldn t be
absolutely necessary to relocate. Beginners in the career are likely to start off with a low position and
once again, a low pay. Whenever a person has gained experience in their position, they are likely to be
promoted to a higher position with an increased

A Renaissance Man Suffering During A Medieval Society Essay
A Renaissance man suffering in a Medieval society During the late middle ages, starting in Italy, a
cultural movement known as the Renaissance spread through Europe. The Renaissance was a period
of rebirth that developed in the forms of art, literature, and education. To understand the natural world,
people of the Renaissance studied the ancient classical works of the Greeks and Romans as
explanations of human abilities. The Renaissance was characterized by the renewed interest in
humanist philosophy, or self belief, human worth, and individual dignity. Humanist philosophy was
grounded in the idea that the capabilities of human beings should be studied, developed, and
understood to the furthest extent possible.
In the early 17th century, one of the most famous pieces of literature was written during the
Renaissance, William Shakespeare s play Hamlet. The play centers upon Hamlet, who is, and is
characterized as a misplaced Renaissance man, who lives in the medieval kingdom of Denmark and
struggles to understand the purpose and meaning of man while others around him carry out their
actions in traditional medieval mannerism. By using allusions and long metaphors, along with Hamlet
s conflict to correct injustice by embracing a humanist approach as opposed to the medieval chivalry
manner, Shakespeare conveys many Renaissance ideas through Hamlet s internal struggle to
understand what it means to be human.
Hamlet embodies the principles and ideals of Renaissance humanism

American Indian Stories Essay
In American Indian Stories, University of Nebraska Press Lincoln and London edition, the author,
Zitkala Sa, tries to tell stories that depicted life growing up on a reservation. Her stories showed how
Native Americans reacted to the white man s ways of running the land and changing the life of
Indians. Zitkala Sa was one of the early Indian writers to record tribal legends and tales from oral
tradition (back cover) is a great way to show that the author s stories were based upon actual events in
her life as a Dakota Sioux Indian. This essay will describe and analyze Native American life as

We where once very happy. But the paleface has stolen our lands and driven us hither. Having
defrauded us of our land, the paleface forced us away (10). Having knowing this, the little girl still
persisted and wanted to go with the paleface.
Many of the Indians that left with the missionaries were gone for many years and did not know how
much had changed back at home. In the story The Soft Hearted Sioux a young man comes back home
after receiving an education from the missionaries. He had left before he was taught how to survive
out in the wild. He came back to dying and starving parents. He was brainwashed by the missionaries
because he went against his family s customs and told the medicine man never to come back and that
God will save his father. He started preaching God s words to his people and they left the community.
His father was growing sicker and sicker and he needed food. His son went out everyday trying to get
something but had no skills in hunting. His father had told him to go two hills over and he could find
meat. With no concept of ownership, the son went and killed a cow that belonged to an American.
Upon leaving with the meat he was chased down and attacked by the owner of the cattle. The son
accidentally killed the man and fled back to his father s teepee only to realize that he was too late and
that his father had died. He was so conditioned by the white man that he had forgotten his ancestors

Two Theories Of Personality
Define Personality
A personality is a unique collection of attitudes, emotions, thoughts, habits, impulses and behaviors
that define how a person typically behaves across situations.
Explain in detail at least two theories of personality
Trait Theories: focus more on the biological aspects of personality. Traits are ways in which
individuals behave or react in most situations. Raymond Cattell proposed that there were 16 primary
traits. Individuals differ in the degree of possession which they have in a trait. There are five core
traits, most commonly known as the big five or OCEAN: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion,
Agreeableness and Neuroticism. Openness is being thoughtful and rational, Conscientiousness is the
attention to detail, Extraversion is the outwardly directed energy, Agreeableness is how well an
individual gets along with others and Neuroticism is emotional instability. Hans Eysenck suggested
that there were only three traits: Psychoticism, Extroversion and Neuroticism.
Humanistic Theories: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Internal traits are stable across a lifespan and differ depending on the individual or particular trait or
both. The five factor trait theory allows persons to develop and be able to function properly. Genetics
affect personality development as some aspects of a personality may be inherited. This includes
adopted children being more closely linked to their adopted parents that their biological parents and
identical twins that are raised apart have similar personality traits. Most personality traits are
consistent and stable over time and little changes occur after the age of thirty as most persons
experiment during their childhood and teenage years. Age, culture and gender are major factors to
consider when discussing stability and change as it differs for each

Impact Of Physical Geography
Impact of Physical Geography and Development: Physical geography plays a significant part in the
development and success of different people and countries. A country s location can greatly affect how
that country does economically. For example, country s near water typically do better economically
than landlocked because water unlocks more trade opportunities. However, some landlocked countries
can still do well because of it s neighboring countries that may be located near water. Another example
is the type of environment you re located in. People in countries with a more agricultural based
environment will live very differently than a country surrounded by desert that may focus on oil or
minerals. Yet, some countries, like the U.S, are so big that they have many different climates,
ecosystems, and environments; allowing for many different types of ways to make money, trade, and
live. A countires location can also affect how people live. Anything from climate to where the country
is located compared to the equator can completely determine how someone lives. A place with a rainy
climate that may rely on industry will be completely different that one with a more mild climate that
relies on agriculture. A countires location from the equator will also drastically affect how people live.
A country like Brazil that is right next to the equator will focus their industries on different things than
a country like Russia, who is far away from the equator, will rely on different types of industries. A
country s location can also determine how it is affected by natural disasters. For example, Thailand has
a risk of tsunamis, California is greatly affected by earthquakes, and places like Hawaii are affected by
volcanos. All of those things can affect a country s economy and development.
Core Periphery Model or World Systems Theory: In The Power of Place Harm De Blij divides the
world into two parts; the core and periphery. Core countries are often successful economically, have a
dominant military, and have overall better health. Periphery countries are often poor, don t have much
power, have more diseases and overall worse health, and low standards of living. Global cores are
places like the U.S.A, China,

Louis Pasteur Research Paper
Individuals state that creating something is impossible without a place to start. One must embellish
simple ideas in order to create something much bigger. Louis Pasteur was a microbiologist that lived
in Arbois, France in the late nineteenth century. Louis Pasteur was famous for his discoveries using
basic knowledge of microbiology (Robinson, 2009). He created the pasteurization process, thought
flexibly to improve medical treatments for disease, and illuminated the world by opening possible
discoveries for treatments of illnesses.
The discovery of Pasteurization in the nineteenth century metamorphosed the world of microbiology.
Louis Pasteur was brought to fame due to his discovery of pasteurization in 1864. The purpose of this
process was to extend the expiration dates of wines, and dairy products. This worked by putting ...

Pasteur opened new opportunities for research to both doctors and microbiologists. Pasteurization
innovated the medical and the world of microbiology. Doctors began to put their medical equipment
through intense heat in order to kill microscopic organisms and bacteria that can cause patients to fall
victim to diseases. Before this discovery, hospitals cleaned tools through water. This left germs on the
equipment making hospitals unsanitary. Louis introduced the idea that microscopic organisms are the
reason for illnesses (World of Microbiology and Immunology, 2006). This idea revolutionized the
world of microbiology. Doing this gave microbiologist a greater role in the medical field and opened a
door to new possible research. Being a French man in microbiology meant that research was hard to
sponsor. The discovery of pasteurization was just a risk that had a possibility of success. The fact that
Pasteur took the risk meant he was open to continuous learning (Biology, 2009). Louis Pasteur
allowed medical and microbiology fields to prosper due to his

Jennifer Hale
I chose to look at a strike taking place in the video game industry. Many voice actors feel that they are
not being paid enough for their services to the game making companies that they end up working for.
Jennifer Hale has played major roles in several extremely successful video game titles such as the
Halo, Mass Effect, and Bioshock series. She is part of a group known as the Screen Actors Guild
American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, also known as SAG AFTRA. This is the group
that has declared a strike against eleven different video game publishers after nineteen months of
failed negotiations regarding compensation. As mentioned above, the problem at hand has to do with
actors under the SAG AFTRA group and the large video game producers they contract with. The
workers are worried not just about compensation for their work, but also transparency upon hiring and
safety concerns on set. When asked about the situation Hale is quoted saying I have friends who have
had to have surgery because of the vocal stress they incurred in the session and they ve been out of
work for months. Currently, the actors are being paid around $800 for a four hour vocal session and
are pushing for secondary compensation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main thing that needs to be looked at is the amount that these voice actors are being paid for their
four hours of service. Both sides also need to determine how many games are actually going to reach
the proposed two million copies sold threshold. Another criteria factor is how many actors actually
injure themselves while voice acting. I understand four hours is a long time to be making noises,
yelling, screaming, and talking but both sides need to assess how much injury actually happens. You
also need to compare what these people are being paid to what everyone else that helps to make the
video game and see if it makes relative

Social Work As A Social Worker
There are many helping professions. Society has doctors, therapist, teachers, nurses, etc. To help
means to assist, which means to serve. Every business has the infrastructure to serve a need presented
for whatever motives lay behind the person s reasoning. What makes social work idiosyncratic unlike
the rest is the willingness and passion to promote human well being. I yearn and hunger to see growth
of what is already innate. That is the reason psychology became my undeclared major.
My ignorance of the social work role did create misconceptions and fears. I knew I had to be in some
helping profession. I was not sure if I would do so through occupational therapy, psychology,
teaching, or social work. I wanted to be a social worker, but I was afraid of the danger associated with
it by giving way to stereotypes. No one wants to be shot or harassed due to taking someone s child
from a terrible environment. This is what I defined social work as. I was a psychology major with a
niche for social and child developmental psychology. I as three years into the Bachelor of Science
Psychology program and I began to develop a distaste for psychology methodology. The field
appeared to be competitive and only research or clinical driven, which I believed confine the goals I
set for myself. I was tired of rehearing the same old man psychological theories that had a narrow
scope. The competition was not intimidating, but it was unnecessary and defeating to turn out rates of

Piety In Plato s Dialogues And The Book Of Job
What does it mean to be pious? In Plato s Dialogues and the Book of Job, the search for the
explanation can be attempted from the readings about Socrates and Job. The two are very different.
One, searches for a definition and questions the meaning of piety, whereas the other, Job, one of the
most pious men in biblical history, sets by example the meaning of piety by suffering many of God s
punishments and yet he remains unwavering in his faith and God.
In Plato s Apology, Socrates is accused of impiety and later sentenced to an execution for reasons that
are injust. As a man who has lived his life as an honest and just man, he searches for the definition of
piety, in order to understand the accusation made against him. He turns to Euthyphro, a wise man who
is present at the court, who gives Socrates his explanation as to what it means to be pious. However, to
Socrates, each of the definitions he gives are opinionated and ambiguous and as a result Socrates is
left unfulfilled, with many still unanswered questions in the end.
The first definition of piety that Euthyphro offers to Socrates is that the pious is to do what I am doing
now to prosecute the wrong doer...not to prosecute is impious (6, e). Euthyphro is present as a witness
against his own father who is accused of murder. Socrates appreciates that he believes so strongly in
justice that he would hold his own family member accountable, but is displeased with this meaning,
simply because it is only an explanation and not a true meaning. Socrates wants to know what pious
means in and of itself, not an example or an act of being pious.
Euthyphro s second definition is linked to the gods. He explains that Pious is what all the gods love,
and the opposite, what all the gods hate, is impious (9, e), meaning that piety is determined by the
gods. Socrates finds this to be false, due to the fact that in order for the gods to decide what is pious,
they would all have to agree. However, each god has his/her own opinion about what is honorable or
just and what is not. Therefore, a decision is difficult to reach and Socrates concludes that this
definition cannot be true. This definition however is the most important one because Socrates creates a

How Does Milgram Study Unethical
Milgram on Ethics A Study on Where Milgram Crossed the Line Kyle Froerer Weber State University
Upon researching Milgram s study more in depth and weighing the opinions of those who feel it is an
ethical study versus those in opposition I add my opinion to those who feel the experiment was an
unethical practice. This paper will explain more of why I feel this way. I will also provide four peer
reviewed sources supporting my argument. The first reason I find it to be unethical is because of the
ways in which subjects were lured into participating in the study. Certain people could say they
volunteered but that would require they not be compensated for their efforts in any way. Each
participant was financially compensated with $4.50 which is the equivalent of about $25.00 to today s
currency (Dollar Times, 2008). Because none of the participants were truly volunteers their actions
and subsequent test results must not be considered ethically accurate when comparing them to society
in general. Continuing on, the setting in which the participants were observed was a foreign setting all
with employing behaviors unique to that of a scientist (Baurimd, 1964). Now, coupling the foreign
setting, strange behaviors and the fact they have been paid with the principle of participant obedience,
it can be assumed that all these attributes mixed together would result in an overly obedient test
subject. To accurately study the baseline for the principle of obedience in

Software Engineering for Mobile Application Development: Challenges and Research In the recent
years we have seen rapid growth of applications of mobile devices popularly known as APPS . Recent
surveys show that there are enormous numbers of mobile application developers. Although there is a
growing trend of these mobile applications, very few make it to the top charts of the devices thereby
pushing the application developers to provide with high quality, and useful applications. Software
engineering comes in to picture here, thereby leading the development of the application through
different life cycle phases for good quality output. This paper presents the different challenges faced
by the developers such as (a) building good user interfaces(b) support for multiplatform (c) dealing
with uncertainities. (d) change according to the environment. For each of the above stated challenges
we provide the current trends and advances done, along with the challenges that are faced in
developing the application and also the future risks and availabilities for developing the project.

Mobile application development started long time ago, around ten years back. But although the
development of mobile applications was done long ago, their popularity has increased since the apple

Essay On Plastic Bags
Since 1985, America has used plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles making
them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic have always been a huge controversy in supermarkets
through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing up
straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles
making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers
know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only

Although plastic bags, as well as paper bags, can be recycled in order to postpone running out of
resources, the creation and destruction of the plastic releases CO2 or (Carbon Dioxide) into the air
damaging the Earth s atmosphere along with all the other horrific machinery emitting the same toxic
and harmful gas. This is more popularly known as Plastic Pollution , one of the biggest causes of
climate change. An estimated 12 million barrels of oil are used to manufacture the 30 million plastic
bags that Americans use each year. (Durkin, 1 bag at a time) Factories creating and destroying these
plastic bags have the some of the highest rates of CO2 emission. No matter how the plastic bag is
disposed of, either way it will end up releasing the catastrophic chemicals that are killing our planet.
Recycling is a great attempt to preserve our natural resources, but it does not even come close to
saving the living creatures of Mother Earth herself. The build up of plastic bags and other unnecessary
items in our oceans is a greater cause of ecosystem disruption. An estimated 100,000 marine animals
die each year due to suffocating on or ingesting plastic bags. Increased levels of man made pollutants
show up in areas like the Arctic, affecting Polar bears, other arctic mammals, melting polar ice caps
and adding to the stress of all climate change and global warming. All plastic bags ever thrown away

Mother Teresa is a hero because she is selfless, courageous, and has strong leadership abilities.
Bio
Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia in 1910. At the age of 18 she joined a group of nuns in
Ireland. After months of training with the Sisters of Loreto, she traveled to India. She took her

Mother Teresa gave up everything just to help those less fortunate. For example, in 1979 she won a
Nobel Peace Prize with $192,000 worth of prize money and instead of keeping she used it to create
multiple homes for victims of leprosy. She was commemorated with the highest honor, yet she was
still thinking of others.
The second reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she is courageous. For instance, many people
could have shunned her for helping the unwanted, but she found the courage and strength in her heart
to help those in need. Also, she helped a particular group that had leprosy, which is a very contagious
disease. She set up many clinics in order to help these people even though she put herself at risk of
catching the disease.
The final reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she was a strong leader. This trait can be
exemplified because she had a relentless focus on her mission helping the poor. She effectively
implemented her plan and cared for the people of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a situational leader, for
example she helped people according to their situation, if they were starving she would give them
food, if they were homeless she would provide a home for them to say at, or if they were sick she
helped them to heal. If a situation came, she would find a solution to help them in some

Essay on Cellular Respiration Lab Report
Cellular Respiration Lab Report
I.Introduction
In this lab we are measuring the amount of oxygen used in both germinating and non germinating
peas. We are measuring the oxygen consumption by taking a reading of a respirometer submerged in
two water baths. The first bath will be cold water and the second warm to determine the effect of
temperatures on oxygen consumption. Our negative control will be glass beads to measure to increase
or decrease in atmospheric pressure or temperature changes. There is a direct relationship between
oxygen consumption and Carbon Dioxide produced, therefore the more O2 consumed the more CO2
produced. To keep the amount of CO2 produced from canceling out any pressure gained or lost from
the consumption of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Added to the respirometers will be KOH(potassium hydroxide) to selectively remove any carbon
dioxide produced with the consumption of oxygen. The three respirometers will be submerged in each
bath and allowed to equilibrate. After the equilibration period the respirometers are submerged in the
baths taking reading at 5 minute intervals, recording the amount of oxygen consumed in ml on the
pipette attached to each respirometer.
III. Results/Presentation of Data
Our data recorded shows that the germinating peas did consume more oxygen than the non
germinating or the glass beads alone and that the cooler temperature did slow down the consumption
of oxygen in the germinating peas. In both water baths the atmospheric pressure seemed to increase
causing our reading to raise in our glass beads and non germinating peas. This direct relationship in
reading leads us to believe that the oxygen consumption in the non germinating peas was minimal if
any at all.

The Assassination Of President Abraham Lincoln Essay
One of the most tragic moments throughout all American history in my opinion is the Assassination of
President Abraham Lincoln. With no surprise I am writing about certain event that occurred leading up
to, during, and after this unfortunate event. This historical event is clouded with conspiracy but I will
try to avoid specifics of that particular view. Abraham Lincoln was born in a little town located within
Hardin Country, Kentucky on February 12, 1809 (www.whitehouse.gov/abrahamlincoln). He grew up
dirt poor and in my opinion could be considered a frontiers man just like his father was. His mother on
the other hand passed away when Lincoln was at a very young age. Lincoln was also in my opinion of
great intelligence, hard worker, and a very ambitious young man. He would farm and run a store in
New Salem, Illinois (www.whitehouse.gov). A little less known tale about him is that he was a very
good wrestler back in the day and received his nick name honest Abe for walking a library book
several miles to be returned. He met the love of his life May Todd after becoming a dynamic lawyer
and had four young boys. Sadly only one lived to see adult hood (www.history.com). Abraham
Lincoln became the 16th President of the United States of America in 1861. At this time the states
where not so united. As a matter of fact 13 of them had succeeded from the union in the same year
President Lincoln was elected (1861). The historical significance of this time was known as the

The Legend Of Gods And Titans
Long ago, before Man was created, there were only Gods and Titans. Uranus was the Titan that ruled
everything. After a few millennia, he gave birth to triplets, Pluto, Jupiter and Neptune. When they
were all grown up, they became all powerful gods. When Opis, the Gods Uncle was jealous of Uranus,
so jealous that when at the celebration of the birth of triplets, Opis killed Uranus and when that
happened the first planet, besides Earth was Uranus, to watch over the EArth forever. When Jupiter
saw this, He screamed You don t have the right to do that. You can t kill my father he challenged I

As next in line, Saturn stepped up to the plate as king.
He announced Gods and Titans, as the new king I promise to you all that I will not abuse all this
power I have, unlike my brother Opis, but instead use it to give all of you more freedom.
Huzza cried the Olympians, not including the Gods.
My first decree as king is that the Gods, Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto are not allowed to give birth to
more Gods or otherwise be sent to Tarturus, for if they do, I m afraid that they will overthrow us with
their power and do unspeakable things to us.
Huzza, king Saturn. Huzza king Saturn. Huzza, king Saturn...
When the Triplets heard of the decree, they were infuriated. They felt that Saturn was abusing his
power as king. They were also mad that after all the trouble to kill Opis, the next king was just like
him. Jupiter was the most infuriated of the three. Why do you do this Saturn. Why! He cried. The Next
day, Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto Stormed into the Titans castle. You imposter! shouted Pluto.
You fraud cried Neptune
You traitor. screamed Jupiter We are the ones that put you in the place that you are in. And yet, you
limit our power. How Unking like!

Conflict Theory And Symbolic Interactionism
Sociology is the function of the human society, and social problems among us. There are three
different theories that I will be discussing in this essay. The theories are symbolic interactionism, The
conflict theory and functional analysis perspectives. These perspectives help make up the way society
thinks as a whole. All three of these perspectives are alike, as much as they are different. Symbolic
interactionism helps explain both of our individual personalities and the ways the human society is
linked together (p.27). It also helps us differentiate social order and change through a process. The
teachings of symbolic interactionism comes mostly from George Herbert Mead But,George was not
the only one that influenced the thoughts and ideas of symbolic interactionism. Symbolic interaction is
theoretical perspective so it is still changing and evolving. It also has four kinds of understandings in
the population and environment. One of the understandings is that symbolic interactionism is to
understand why people engage or do not engage in social growth of the population . Symbolic
Interactionism assumes that people from different social backgrounds, and different cultures may see
different social issues within their social community. George Mead,Charles Cooley and Herbert
Blumer shaped symbolic interactionism on the predictions of yourself causing you to behave a certain
way so it becomes true. Structural functionalism is a theory that explains why society

Research Paper On Oskar Schindler
Oskar Schindler grew up in a prosperous Catholic family with all the privileges money could buy. He
grew up to be a German industrialist, spy, and a member of the Nazi Party, who outwitted Hitler and
the Nazis to save more Jews than any other from the deathly events of World War॥. With the help of
his wife, Emilie Schindler, Oskar Schindler saved the lives of 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust by
employing them in his ammunition and enamelware factories, spending millions bribing the SS, and
eventually risking his life to rescue the Schindler Jews ( The Oscar Schindler Story ) Oskar Schindler
was not one to pass up an opportunity to make some money. He marched into Poland with the SS and
dove head first into the black market. He soon began to make friends with the Gestapo, the secret state
police, by softening them up with women, money and alcohol. His newfound connections helped him
to acquire a factory, which he ran with the cheapest labor around, Jews. At first, it seemed like he was
another German money driven industrialist but somewhere along the way something changed. In
December 1939, as the German occupied Poland was being torn up by the events of the Holocaust,
Schindler took his first steps in becoming a Holocaust hero. If you saw a dog going to be crushed
under a car, he said later of his wartime actions, wouldn t you help him? ( Oskar Schindler, Jewish

Religious Connotations In Ayn Rand s Anthem
This little light of mine, I m gonna let it shine. Could a tune often sung by children in Bible study also
be used to depict an expedition of self? Similarly, Ayn Rand portrays a hymn of I in Anthem through a
boy confined within a collectivist society. Throughout Anthem, Ayn Rand uses Equality s journey to
awareness in which Rand displays religious connotations ability to stifle individuality, foreshadow
through the Saint of Pyre, as well as consecrate ego in order to emphasize the need for self worth and
individuality. At the start of Anthem, a lack of free thought and individuality resulted from religious
connotations in the negative form. The government dominating Equality s society referred to all the
information they wanted hidden from society through dismissive yet holy terms. On the contrary,

For example, Equality exclaimed, Many words have been granted to me and some are wise, and some
are false, but only three are holy: I will it! (Rand 94, 95). Throughout the entire book, religious word

holy , Rand took the phrase Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven which is praised upon by
Christians and changed it to I will it (Rand 95). This shows the wording being used to augment the
phrase and add sacredness to it. The title of the novella is also used to emphasize the Unspeakable
Word. Anthem is defined as a song or hymn of praise. Often used with a holy vibe, Rand is using the
word anthem to put an importance to the sacred word: ego. Without individuality, men were reliant on
the word we . Equality explains, When men accepted that worship, the structure of centuries collapsed

As Christabel is the carrier, she takes on the role of the man. Although she does not do it intentionally,
Christabel is already crossing some gender boundaries. Once she finally gets Geraldine inside of her
room, one of the first things that Christabel does is offer her some wine: O weary lady, Geraldine,/I
pray you, drink this cordial wine!/It is a wine of virtuous powers (Coleridge 7). What are Christabel s
intentions here? Is she simply being friendly, or is she perhaps hoping that she can use the alcohol to
manipulate her guest? Then, Christabel undresses, sits down, And on her elbow did recline/To look at
the lady Geraldine (Coleridge 8) as she undresses. This interest in watching Geraldine undress seems
quite uncharacteristic of Christabel, and in fact, that is when the narrator promptly jumps in to shield
Christabel s innocent eyes. After a rather questionable evening, where it can be assumed that the two
women did more than just sleep, Christabel awakens and Grows sad and soft; the smooth thin

organization was erected to consolidated all functions that directly touched the customer but sales to
provide high quality customer service. Since August 2001, the IT market turned down and brought
severe challenges to Cisco as the company had to lay off 18% of its employees and reorganized its

Even though Cisco created the Customer Focus Initiative to try to serve leader customers better, as the
SVP of Customer Advocacy, Allred still felt anxious that this reorganization would reduce the
customers loyalty. He was also afraid that since the products were high priced, customers would
ignore the longtime relationship and turn to Cisco s competitors. Therefore, adjusting the existing
culture to adapt to the new structure became the fundamental issue of Allred. Alternative Solutions: In
such a situation, since the bad economic environment, it is not possible to keep the original structure
to fit its culture. One possible method to solve this problem is to collect continuous customers
feedback and to subdivide the feedback by different departments. The culture of Cisco is to keep
paying attention to the customers, no matter the amount of resource. But the new structure made the
whole resources of the company useless to satisfy customers. Thus, a good way to know what
customers need is to collect the feedback from them. In the article How to Change a Culture: Lessons
from NUMMI, the author told us that those of us trying to change our organizations culture need to
define the things we want to do, the ways we want to behave .iv By collecting the feedback of
customers, each Cisco s employee could be clarified of what they need to do to satisfy the customers.
To make the feedback effective, Cisco should pay

blending of many cultures that feature many stable and different subcultures. Where a child grows up

that are passed to her. A lot of what my parents have taught me culturally is through food. My father
spent two years of his life in Switzer land and the South of France. My father has introduced a lot of
French culture into our home. On Christmas Eve, we eat shrimp scampy rather than chicken or turkey,
which is most common in the United States. On Sunday morning when we were little, our dad would
make us omelets. For dinner, we have learned to like crepes, raklet, and fondue. My mom grew up in
Idaho. Every meal has some form of potato and a side of salad; almost without fail. My parents raised
us in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. In our church, we have a set of guidelines called
the Word of Wisdom, which teaches us our bodies are sacred and we should watch what we put in
them. For example, we do not drink alcohol or addictive beverages. My parents and their cultures have
had momentous effects on my own culture. This however is not restricted just by foods. In positions
on contradicting beliefs, I often find my views to mirror the ones of my parents. As I grow older I do

The Importance Of Witchcraft In The 1400s
Witchcraft in the 1400s going on to the 1700s gained massive popularity due to several factors. Some
of these factors included hallucinogens contained in the oyl women used to anoint themselves,
manipulating the hysteria and using it as a form of social control to make people conform to the norms
of the society and lastly, using it to explain misfortunes that afflicted the people of the community and
the neighboring ones. First, a witch had confessed that before going off on their meetings, they (the
witches) anoint themselves with a special oyl that was brought to them by a spirit and that it assisted
them on their journey with the devil to Sabbat, a place filled with merriment where their desires were
being fulfilled. This ointment was said to help in the transportation of their soul or body to the said
destination. The oyl was rubbed on their staffs, broomstick or under their armpits and other hairy parts
of their body. What was unknown to them was that the ointment contained hallucinogenic active
agents from plants like mandrake, henbane, and belladonna (also referred to as deadly nightshade).
From these plants, the active hallucinogenic agent, atropine can be found in them and according to
Marvin Harris, atropine is...absorbable through the intact skin. Under the influence of this
hallucinogen, the users of the ointment claimed to see several people with them making merry in the
Sabbat and fulfilling their utmost desires of sexual lust and other erotic behaviors.

A Solid Home Essay
Hello everyone! Welcome to our first meeting for the production of A Solid Home . I am very excited
about what we can create together and I want us to be able to get started right away. For this
production, our guiding concept is going to be Death can be livelier than life. Firstly, I want to start
with the set design. Now in the text, Garro states that the play is located in a room with stone walls,
and no windows or doors. Now, this will be the base of the play, however to express the concept I
want to liven the space up. I think that painting a window and curtains on the upstage wall would help
create a more welcoming space. This would also allow for interesting blocking as we could have the
characters looking out the window, daydreaming as the reminisce about their reincarnations. Next, I
want a minimalistic amount of furniture, and I want these to be on the more neutral side, coming in
colors of white, tan and light grey, as furniture has no life to it. The place should also look lived in,
should feel like a home, with pillows on the furniture and books and knickknacks on any tables. This
will allow the characters to stand out, as they are the life of the play and their home is more than just a
crypt. Next, talking about the characters, I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

characters should never acknowledge when another character leaves. This is just another aspect of the

One of the many environmental problems faced today by human activity is deforestation.
Deforestation refers to the term used to describe the demolition of woodland, forest cover and
plantations to allow space for agriculture, industrialization or for urban uses. Forest clearance which is
associated with extreme local impacts such as loss of habitat, loss of biological diversity and
instability of slopes and soils (Hugget et al: 2004). There are many reasons for deforestation, such as
agricultural activities, urbanization, logging, mining and the desertification of land (conserve energy
future: 2014). According to the United Nations food and agriculture organization every year almost
eighteen million acres of forests are lost and destroyed each year (FAO: 2014). The rapid and ever
increasing rate of deforestation makes it very dangerous and distressing and fear of the long term
effects that may be a result if the rate of clearing does not decrease or is controlled. The Amazonian is
the largest rainforest in the world, spreading across an area of 1.7 billion acres through Brazil, Peru,
Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. The forest supplies the
world with more than twenty percent of its oxygen and is referred to as the world s lungs (tropical

It has never been an uncommon thing for one to retreat to nature in an attempt to find one s self, and
somewhat cliché these days is the retreat to nature to find God. Hundreds of books, essays, seminars,

through connecting with nature. It is a phenomenon that transcends religious boundaries everyone,
from Buddhists to Christian Mystics to Quakers, seems to think that the key (or, at least, one of the
keys) to enlightenment lies in nature. As one may suppose, this is not a new concept. Throughout

listed as the third most valued sports team in the world , (Page 1). With all of this hype and world wide

To aid Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, whom is stated in Forbes Magazine as being
worth 3.1 billion dollars himself, (Page 1), in paying the construction costs of the new stadium,
Arlington voters approved the increase of the city s sales tax by 0.5 percent, the hotel occupancy tax
by 2 percent, and car rental tax by 5 percent. The City of Arlington provided over $325 million
(including interest) in bonds as funding, and Jones covered any cost overruns. Also, the NFL provided
the Cowboys with an additional $150 million loan, following its policy for facilitating financing for
the construction of new stadiums, (Page 1). Strengths and Weaknesses A key strength that the
Cowboys franchise holds is the obvious tradition of winning and success on the football field. As
mentioned before, the Cowboys have 5 Super Bowl titles and that gives the team a legendary aura
every time they step out on the field. This allows their fan base to be very large, consistent and proud
to be part of the franchise. Along with that strength though, comes a weakness. The history of the
Cowboys is a history of excellence and winning which is hard to hold and be consistent with in the
NFL. Winning three Super Bowl titles in four years is a hard mark to reach but ever since that
accomplishment the Cowboys have been nowhere near replicating that achievement. The fan base was
created through the great seasons of football that the Cowboys have

Esperanza Rising Quotes
The main character of the book, Esperanza Rising, is a young girl named Esperanza. The story begins
in Aguascalientes, Mexico on a beautiful ranch owned by Esperanza s father. However, Esperanza and
her family are forced to immigrate to America. Throughout the journey, Esperanza reveals several of
her personality traits. All of these traits can be represented by symbols. First, a bag of coins can
symbolize Esperanza s selfishness and arrogance in the beginning of the story. I chose this because a
selfish and conceited person would want more of something and believe he or she is superior to other
people. Esperanza s selfishness shines through on page 69 where the author writes, Mona, she said,
and reached up to touch the doll. Esperanza quickly jerked it away and put it back in the valise,
covering it with the old clothes. Also, her arrogance is shown on page 67 when Esperanza is boarding
a train filled with peasants and she says, We can t travel in this car. It s not clean and the people don t
look trustworthy. These quotes clearly suggests that Esperanza dislikes sharing her possessions with
the less fortunate, wants more for herself, and believes that she is too ... Show more content on

Her hard work can be signified by a shovel. I chose this object because many jobs that involve
shovels, such as constructing, require great effort and persistence. Esperanza shows her great work
ethic on page 166 when she says, I could work in the fields or in the sheds and Melina and Irene have
already offered to watch Pepe and Lupe. Her hard work is also displayed on page 182 where the
author writes, She put her hands under the faucet, rinsed off the avocado, and patted them dry. They
felt better, but still looked red and weathered. She took another avocado, cut it in half, swung the knife
into the pit and pulled it from the flesh. These quotes suggest that Esperanza is willing to work hard to

Spices Of Indian Food
Aromatic spices are quintessential in Indian cuisine. These spices are what imparts the cuisine an
overwhelming and lingering essence that gives it a very distinctive identity. The delicate flavors,
smell, taste, and color of the spices in these Indian dishes has what has attracted people since eternity.
Spices can be defined as strongly flavored or aromatic substances that is commonly used as a
condiment to flavor dishes. Western cuisine, like the Mexican or the Italian cuisine also use spices in
their dishes. However, most of these cuisines use spices in their basic way which means that it is
usually one spice that stands out or gives the dish its unique taste even if it is being used with another
herb or other spices. Indian cooking, on the other hand, uses multiple types of spices (sometimes up to
40) in varying combinations to come up with a variety of taste, each different from the ... Show more

yummy chocolate and popcorn, French fries and pickle, peanut butter on burgers (Huffington Post),
etc. are some of these offbeat food pairings that are taking the world by the storm. However, a deep
dive into Indian cooking revealed a complete different picture. After reviewing some 2500 regional
recipes, research found that at the molecular level, Indian food did go against the basic science of food
pairing. This meant that the cuisine put together different spices that were in contrast at their
molecular levels and yet managed to create a brilliant, and unique taste. It was like each dish
combined different spices and yet somehow each spice brought their own touch to the dish. These
contrasting abilities of the spices turned out to what made Indian cuisine as it

Darwin And Darwin s Theory Of Evolution
It is often thought today that the theory of evolution started with Darwin and begun in the nineteenth
Hundreds. Nonetheless, the thought of species changing over the years, had picked up for a long time
in one shape to something else. It was denied by the maximum, due to the defender whom did not had
any slight idea dealing with a gratifying mechanism that would analyze in innovation. The utmost
significant evolutionary beliefs pervious to Darwin were of Lamarck and Geoffrey Hillarie, advanced
around the time of 1794 and 1830. Landmark implied that species expand over the help or none use of

offspring. In either way, these theories of change were established on a preceding reason that allowed

Response to The Good Shepherd (CIA)
The Good Shepherd is a fascinating, adult film. It is an adult film not merely because of its high rating
but because it depicts the difficult and problematic professional and personal life of a CIA operative
with an adult, realistic approach that is rarely shown in films. In addition, The
Good Shepherd tells a compelling, complex, personal and political story and tells it extremely well.
The film utilizes familiar, but not essentially true to life, personalities and episodes to make political
points. This essay will provide a response to the film from a political point of view.
In the film, the viewers are able to follow the development of the CIA via ... Show more content on

I certainly don t know of any normal individual who could do that. One message that echoes right
through the film is that Wilson actually never trusts anybody. He is supposedly based on an authentic
CIA intelligence officer who was so paranoid and secretive that few in the
CIA knew what he may have looked liked. Nevertheless, in the world of espionage, where deception
must often be necessary, being distrustful must be just part of the job (Chapman and
Robert 210).
However, not all the employees of the Central Intelligence Agency resemble Edward
Wilson. At the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, all employees seem like normal people having a
normal day at their offices. Most of the workers are actually analysts and not operatives
(Chapman and Robert 210). However, it strikes me that, if I am to assume that Edward Wilson is a
model CIA employee, The Good Shepherd may be furthering a cliché.

Important lesson learned from the Film
The most essential lesson I learn from the film is that knowing the truth is important because the truth
always sets you free. Furthermore, the film teaches that deception will always lead to imprisonment
but the truth always leads to freedom. According to Secker et al the film

The Service Of Service Design
We have learnt from Servicer Strategy that service means to provide guidance on design, and how to
implement them according to the needs of the customer. From the service lifecycle Service Design
comes after the service strategy (Annexure A). The service design is not limited to new services, but
also to old services which are need to improve the service design which are necessary to maintain the
value to customers. The main objective of service design is designing an innovative idea or to change
an existing design into a live environment. To change a design or to implement there are several
requirements. These requirements are taken from the service portfolios and they are analyzed. There
are teams which will indulge in this process and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They said that design is moving closer to the social innovation linking its characteristics at different
levels. For example, service and relationships to social needs or improving life conditions and social
situations.
In order to successfully implement the plan of design or projects of service management there has to
be efficient use of 4P s: The People, the Process, the Products and the Partners. To function the service
management, the 4P s must be overlapped to each other. There should balance between all the 4P s to
ensure safe and appropriate design. The design approach must be comprehensive, because most of the
problems faced by the organizations are focus on the functional requirements. The design architecture
should be considered from all the aspects. Therefore, there are several design aspects, they are:
Service level management, Availability management, Service catalogue management, Security
management, Capacity management, IT service continuity management.
Service Level Management:
Service level management is an important link between IT and business. Service level provides a good
foundation for good quality service, cost reduction IT services and ensuring compliance with the
service goals and customer s expectations. An effective service level system will always ensure that
the key aspects are met in time where risks is not into picture. For an effective business, IT service
level provider can improve clients service delivery and satisfaction.

Alzheimer s A Progressive Neurodegenerative Disease
Alzheimer s is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that steadily destroys the memory and other
important mental functions such as social skills, intellect, and memory (4).
Although the exact cause of Alzheimer s is not known, most cases of the disease are caused by genetic
mutations passed from the parent to the child (1). There are several genes associated with Alzheimer s
one in particular is apolipoprotein E (1). The presence of one or more of these genes does not
necessarily mean that the person will develop Alzheimer s however; it does increase the risk (5).
Several environmental factors and lifestyle choices responsible for damage to blood vessels in the
brain also contribute to the development of the disease (4). These factors include, past trauma to the
head, cardiovascular disease, smoking, diabetes, or a poor diet (4).
Cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer s disease occurs when synapses, which transmit
information from one neuron to another, become interrupted and communication ceases (7). The result
is death of the nerve cell within the brain, also referred to as synaptic failure (6). Synaptic failure takes
place when amyloid plaque and neurofibrillary tangles develop (7). Amyloid plaque develops from
amyloid beta proteins, which are released by enzymes from the amyloid precursor protein that is
located on the surface of the neuron (7). The amyloid beta proteins are normally cleared within the
body once they are released however, in

  • 2. Regional Trade Arrangements Of Africa And Their Motives Essay 2. Regional Trade Arrangements in Africa and Their Motives Regionalism has become one of the buzz words in international trade diplomacy nowadays. There is almost no country in the world which does not have membership in one or two regional economic integrations, and the coverage and scope of these arrangements have grown more than ever before. Different authors have used different approaches to define the concept of regional integration. Therefore, it is important to discuss the definitions of economic integration according to the most prominent authors in the field of regional integration before taking on the theoretical and empirical literatures of the concept. One of the widely accepted definitions of economic integration is that of Balassa (1961), which is defined as the abolition of discrimination within an area . Another very important definition of economic integration relevant to developing countries is that of Kahnert, P. Richards, Stoutjesdijk, and Thomopoulos (1969). According to these authors, economic integration is the process of progressive removal of trade discriminations which occur at national borders . Furthermore, Machlup (1977) defines economic integration as a process of merging separate economies into a larger economic region with the objective of realizing the efficient utilization of all potential opportunities of the division of labor. From the above definitions, it can be inferred that all the definitions spin around one central point; and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persepolis House Essay Ancient Near East has always been one of the major themes studied within Western Art. Many impressive constructions characterize this culture: temples, gates, palaces and sculptures pieces. Architecture and the development of large cities, such as Persepolis Palace, is a widely interesting matter. This type of design provides the essential information on who build it, why it was build, for whom and what it signifies to the people; it offers information of the communities thoughts, beliefs and form of living. It was around 520 BCE when Darius I began the construction of the ambitious Persepolis Palace, covering a 125.000 square meter. The construction of this, located in the Plateau of the Zagros lands or Fars Providence, Iran, made the workers acknowledge many international styles. To the people, it was a constant reminder of an entrance of all people. While grey limestone was the main material used, other supplies found around the whole empire also helped with the construction: cedar coming from Lebanon, yaka wood coming from Gandhara and Carmania and bricks coming from Babylon. With great material used, the structure came to include courts, halls, and columns. The Persepolis Palace, constructed by the great Darius I, expresses an internationalist style that establishes the respectable knowledge of a powerful leader who depicted hospitality and the centralization of the nation s government within the palace. In order to acquire this knowledge extensive research and investigation has been conducted. Below I have included a general overview/ analysis of the Croatian Market which facilitates market entry planning and projects. Market Overview Croatia is a developing country situated in Southeastern Europe it has a relatively small yet complex market which plays a very vital role when it comes to political and economic stability in the Balkan region. Croatian population consists of a small 4,170.60 million people according to the World Bank s data. http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.POP.TOTL ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A social mindset prevails in various parts of Croatian society. It is important to keep in mind that Croatia has recently recovered from the Homeland war just twenty two short years ago. The country has made tremendous strides towards reconstruction and recovery within the last decade. Some major setbacks the country deals with today are that the majority of Croatian income comes from government funding, social insurance, or public monopolies. Not from the revenues of truly competitive companies. Therefore, any reforms that are introduced that are in opposition to or address corruption, public overspending, or judicial inefficacy usually faces strong opposition from privileged majority on top. On a more optimistic note Croatia has a growing force of entrepreneurs who have innovative and vibrant ideas which are changing the way business in conducted in many industries in Croatia. These entrepreneurs and their businesses follow strong EU regulations and rules which make them perfect potential partners for American companies looking to expand in the region. Market Challenges Croatia s developing Economy is still after its gained independence in 1991. A number of internal problems plague Croatia s development. These include Judiciary inefficiencies infested with case back logs and a lack of expertise in commercial affairs, and a complex non transparent bureaucracy. Wildlife Biologists study the physical and behavioral characteristics of wildlife, as well as human actions on animals and their ecosystem. The duties of a wildlife biologist range anywhere from writing a report to collecting data by experimenting and observing. For instance, a wildlife biologist may have to collect data from observing animal reproduction, interaction between species, and movement patterns. Other times, wildlife biologists will spend time indoors writing papers that explain the data they collected, giving presentations, and doing pre experiment research. Usually a wildlife biologist focuses on a specific type of species, which can include marine mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term wildlife refers to birds, whales, gorillas, jaguars, rhinos, sharks, etc.. Like aforesaid, a wildlife biologist typically specializes in one of these animal categories. However, choice may be limited based on location. Coast states such as Florida, Texas, California, Alaska, Hawaii and others tend to offer many jobs in marine biology. Other landlocked states may have jobs that focus on land wildlife. Generally speaking, this career is available worldwide (including the Galveston area), therefore it wouldn t be absolutely necessary to relocate. • 6. A Renaissance Man Suffering During A Medieval Society Essay A Renaissance man suffering in a Medieval society During the late middle ages, starting in Italy, a cultural movement known as the Renaissance spread through Europe. The Renaissance was a period of rebirth that developed in the forms of art, literature, and education. To understand the natural world, people of the Renaissance studied the ancient classical works of the Greeks and Romans as explanations of human abilities. The Renaissance was characterized by the renewed interest in humanist philosophy, or self belief, human worth, and individual dignity. Humanist philosophy was grounded in the idea that the capabilities of human beings should be studied, developed, and understood to the furthest extent possible. In the early 17th century, one of the most famous pieces of literature was written during the Renaissance, William Shakespeare s play Hamlet. The play centers upon Hamlet, who is, and is characterized as a misplaced Renaissance man, who lives in the medieval kingdom of Denmark and struggles to understand the purpose and meaning of man while others around him carry out their actions in traditional medieval mannerism. By using allusions and long metaphors, along with Hamlet s conflict to correct injustice by embracing a humanist approach as opposed to the medieval chivalry manner, Shakespeare conveys many Renaissance ideas through Hamlet s internal struggle to understand what it means to be human. Hamlet embodies the principles and ideals of Renaissance humanism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Explain in detail at least two theories of personality Trait Theories: focus more on the biological aspects of personality. Traits are ways in which individuals behave or react in most situations. Raymond Cattell proposed that there were 16 primary traits. Individuals differ in the degree of possession which they have in a trait. There are five core traits, most commonly known as the big five or OCEAN: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism. Openness is being thoughtful and rational, Conscientiousness is the attention to detail, Extraversion is the outwardly directed energy, Agreeableness is how well an individual gets along with others and Neuroticism is emotional instability. • 9. Impact Of Physical Geography Impact of Physical Geography and Development: Physical geography plays a significant part in the development and success of different people and countries. A country s location can greatly affect how that country does economically. For example, country s near water typically do better economically than landlocked because water unlocks more trade opportunities. However, some landlocked countries can still do well because of it s neighboring countries that may be located near water. Another example is the type of environment you re located in. People in countries with a more agricultural based environment will live very differently than a country surrounded by desert that may focus on oil or minerals. Yet, some countries, like the U.S, are so big that they have many different climates, ecosystems, and environments; allowing for many different types of ways to make money, trade, and live. A countires location can also affect how people live. Anything from climate to where the country is located compared to the equator can completely determine how someone lives. A place with a rainy climate that may rely on industry will be completely different that one with a more mild climate that relies on agriculture. A countires location from the equator will also drastically affect how people live. A country like Brazil that is right next to the equator will focus their industries on different things than a country like Russia, who is far away from the equator, will rely on different types of industries. A country s location can also determine how it is affected by natural disasters. For example, Thailand has a risk of tsunamis, California is greatly affected by earthquakes, and places like Hawaii are affected by volcanos. All of those things can affect a country s economy and development. Core Periphery Model or World Systems Theory: In The Power of Place Harm De Blij divides the world into two parts; the core and periphery. Core countries are often successful economically, have a dominant military, and have overall better health. Periphery countries are often poor, don t have much power, have more diseases and overall worse health, and low standards of living. Global cores are places like the U.S.A, China, ... Louis introduced the idea that microscopic organisms are the reason for illnesses (World of Microbiology and Immunology, 2006). This idea revolutionized the world of microbiology. Doing this gave microbiologist a greater role in the medical field and opened a door to new possible research. Being a French man in microbiology meant that research was hard to sponsor. • 14. Piety In Plato s Dialogues And The Book Of Job What does it mean to be pious? In Plato s Dialogues and the Book of Job, the search for the explanation can be attempted from the readings about Socrates and Job. The two are very different. One, searches for a definition and questions the meaning of piety, whereas the other, Job, one of the most pious men in biblical history, sets by example the meaning of piety by suffering many of God s punishments and yet he remains unwavering in his faith and God. In Plato s Apology, Socrates is accused of impiety and later sentenced to an execution for reasons that are injust. As a man who has lived his life as an honest and just man, he searches for the definition of piety, in order to understand the accusation made against him. He turns to Euthyphro, a wise man who is present at the court, who gives Socrates his explanation as to what it means to be pious. However, to Socrates, each of the definitions he gives are opinionated and ambiguous and as a result Socrates is left unfulfilled, with many still unanswered questions in the end. The first definition of piety that Euthyphro offers to Socrates is that the pious is to do what I am doing now to prosecute the wrong doer...not to prosecute is impious (6, e). Euthyphro is present as a witness against his own father who is accused of murder. Socrates appreciates that he believes so strongly in justice that he would hold his own family member accountable, but is displeased with this meaning, simply because it is only an explanation and not a true meaning. Socrates wants to know what pious means in and of itself, not an example or an act of being pious. Euthyphro s second definition is linked to the gods. He explains that Pious is what all the gods love, and the opposite, what all the gods hate, is impious (9, e), meaning that piety is determined by the gods. Socrates finds this to be false, due to the fact that in order for the gods to decide what is pious, they would all have to agree. However, each god has his/her own opinion about what is honorable or just and what is not. Therefore, a decision is difficult to reach and Socrates concludes that this definition cannot be true. This definition however is the most important one because Socrates creates a strong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper will explain more of why I feel this way. I will also provide four peer reviewed sources supporting my argument. The first reason I find it to be unethical is because of the ways in which subjects were lured into participating in the study. Certain people could say they volunteered but that would require they not be compensated for their efforts in any way. Each participant was financially compensated with $4.50 which is the equivalent of about $25.00 to today s currency (Dollar Times, 2008). Because none of the participants were truly volunteers their actions and subsequent test results must not be considered ethically accurate when comparing them to society in general. Continuing on, the setting in which the participants were observed was a foreign setting all with employing behaviors unique to that of a scientist (Baurimd, 1964). For instance, many people could have shunned her for helping the unwanted, but she found the courage and strength in her heart to help those in need. Also, she helped a particular group that had leprosy, which is a very contagious disease. She set up many clinics in order to help these people even though she put herself at risk of catching the disease. The final reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she was a strong leader. This trait can be exemplified because she had a relentless focus on her mission helping the poor. She effectively implemented her plan and cared for the people of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a situational leader, for example she helped people according to their situation, if they were starving she would give them food, if they were homeless she would provide a home for them to say at, or if they were sick she helped them to heal. We are measuring the oxygen consumption by taking a reading of a respirometer submerged in two water baths. The first bath will be cold water and the second warm to determine the effect of temperatures on oxygen consumption. Our negative control will be glass beads to measure to increase or decrease in atmospheric pressure or temperature changes. There is a direct relationship between oxygen consumption and Carbon Dioxide produced, therefore the more O2 consumed the more CO2 produced. • 23. The Assassination Of President Abraham Lincoln Essay One of the most tragic moments throughout all American history in my opinion is the Assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. With no surprise I am writing about certain event that occurred leading up to, during, and after this unfortunate event. This historical event is clouded with conspiracy but I will try to avoid specifics of that particular view. Abraham Lincoln was born in a little town located within Hardin Country, Kentucky on February 12, 1809 (www.whitehouse.gov/abrahamlincoln). He grew up dirt poor and in my opinion could be considered a frontiers man just like his father was. His mother on the other hand passed away when Lincoln was at a very young age. Lincoln was also in my opinion of great intelligence, hard worker, and a very ambitious young man. He would farm and run a store in New Salem, Illinois (www.whitehouse.gov). A little less known tale about him is that he was a very good wrestler back in the day and received his nick name honest Abe for walking a library book several miles to be returned. He met the love of his life May Todd after becoming a dynamic lawyer and had four young boys. Sadly only one lived to see adult hood (www.history.com). Abraham Lincoln became the 16th President of the United States of America in 1861. At this time the states where not so united. As a matter of fact 13 of them had succeeded from the union in the same year President Lincoln was elected (1861). The historical significance of this time was known as the ... • 25. Conflict Theory And Symbolic Interactionism Sociology is the function of the human society, and social problems among us. There are three different theories that I will be discussing in this essay. The theories are symbolic interactionism, The conflict theory and functional analysis perspectives. These perspectives help make up the way society thinks as a whole. All three of these perspectives are alike, as much as they are different. Symbolic interactionism helps explain both of our individual personalities and the ways the human society is linked together (p.27). It also helps us differentiate social order and change through a process. The teachings of symbolic interactionism comes mostly from George Herbert Mead But,George was not the only one that influenced the thoughts and ideas of symbolic interactionism. Symbolic interaction is theoretical perspective so it is still changing and evolving. It also has four kinds of understandings in the population and environment. One of the understandings is that symbolic interactionism is to understand why people engage or do not engage in social growth of the population . Symbolic Interactionism assumes that people from different social backgrounds, and different cultures may see different social issues within their social community. George Mead,Charles Cooley and Herbert Blumer shaped symbolic interactionism on the predictions of yourself causing you to behave a certain way so it becomes true. Some of these factors included hallucinogens contained in the oyl women used to anoint themselves, manipulating the hysteria and using it as a form of social control to make people conform to the norms of the society and lastly, using it to explain misfortunes that afflicted the people of the community and the neighboring ones. First, a witch had confessed that before going off on their meetings, they (the witches) anoint themselves with a special oyl that was brought to them by a spirit and that it assisted them on their journey with the devil to Sabbat, a place filled with merriment where their desires were being fulfilled. This ointment was said to help in the transportation of their soul or body to the said destination. The oyl was rubbed on their staffs, broomstick or under their armpits and other hairy parts of their body. What was unknown to them was that the ointment contained hallucinogenic active agents from plants like mandrake, henbane, and belladonna (also referred to as deadly nightshade). From these plants, the active hallucinogenic agent, atropine can be found in them and according to Marvin Harris, atropine is...absorbable through the intact skin. I am very excited about what we can create together and I want us to be able to get started right away. For this production, our guiding concept is going to be Death can be livelier than life. Firstly, I want to start with the set design. Now in the text, Garro states that the play is located in a room with stone walls, and no windows or doors. Now, this will be the base of the play, however to express the concept I want to liven the space up. I think that painting a window and curtains on the upstage wall would help create a more welcoming space. This would also allow for interesting blocking as we could have the characters looking out the window, daydreaming as the reminisce about their reincarnations. Next, I want a minimalistic amount of furniture, and I want these to be on the more neutral side, coming in colors of white, tan and light grey, as furniture has no life to it. The place should also look lived in, should feel like a home, with pillows on the furniture and books and knickknacks on any tables. The story begins in Aguascalientes, Mexico on a beautiful ranch owned by Esperanza s father. However, Esperanza and her family are forced to immigrate to America. Throughout the journey, Esperanza reveals several of her personality traits. All of these traits can be represented by symbols. First, a bag of coins can symbolize Esperanza s selfishness and arrogance in the beginning of the story. I chose this because a selfish and conceited person would want more of something and believe he or she is superior to other people. Esperanza s selfishness shines through on page 69 where the author writes, Mona, she said, and reached up to touch the doll. Esperanza quickly jerked it away and put it back in the valise, covering it with the old clothes. Also, her arrogance is shown on page 67 when Esperanza is boarding a train filled with peasants and she says, We can t travel in this car. It s not clean and the people don t look trustworthy. These quotes clearly suggests that Esperanza dislikes sharing her possessions with the less fortunate, wants more for herself, and believes that she is too ... I chose this object because many jobs that involve shovels, such as constructing, require great effort and persistence. Esperanza shows her great work ethic on page 166 when she says, I could work in the fields or in the sheds and Melina and Irene have already offered to watch Pepe and Lupe. Her hard work is also displayed on page 182 where the author writes, She put her hands under the faucet, rinsed off the avocado, and patted them dry. They felt better, but still looked red and weathered. She took another avocado, cut it in half, swung the knife into the pit and pulled it from the flesh. The delicate flavors, smell, taste, and color of the spices in these Indian dishes has what has attracted people since eternity. Spices can be defined as strongly flavored or aromatic substances that is commonly used as a condiment to flavor dishes. Western cuisine, like the Mexican or the Italian cuisine also use spices in their dishes. However, most of these cuisines use spices in their basic way which means that it is usually one spice that stands out or gives the dish its unique taste even if it is being used with another herb or other spices. However, a deep dive into Indian cooking revealed a complete different picture. After reviewing some 2500 regional recipes, research found that at the molecular level, Indian food did go against the basic science of food pairing. This meant that the cuisine put together different spices that were in contrast at their molecular levels and yet managed to create a brilliant, and unique taste. It was like each dish combined different spices and yet somehow each spice brought their own touch to the dish. • 43. Response To The Good Shepherd (CIA) Name Course Number Professor name Date of Submission Response to The Good Shepherd (CIA) The Good Shepherd is a fascinating, adult film. It is an adult film not merely because of its high rating but because it depicts the difficult and problematic professional and personal life of a CIA operative with an adult, realistic approach that is rarely shown in films. In addition, The Good Shepherd tells a compelling, complex, personal and political story and tells it extremely well. The film utilizes familiar, but not essentially true to life, personalities and episodes to make political points. This essay will provide a response to the film from a political point of view. In the film, the viewers are able to follow the development of the CIA via ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I certainly don t know of any normal individual who could do that. One message that echoes right through the film is that Wilson actually never trusts anybody. He is supposedly based on an authentic CIA intelligence officer who was so paranoid and secretive that few in the CIA knew what he may have looked liked. Nevertheless, in the world of espionage, where deception must often be necessary, being distrustful must be just part of the job (Chapman and Robert 210). However, not all the employees of the Central Intelligence Agency resemble Edward Wilson. At the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, all employees seem like normal people having a normal day at their offices. Most of the workers are actually analysts and not operatives (Chapman and Robert 210). However, it strikes me that, if I am to assume that Edward Wilson is a model CIA employee, The Good Shepherd may be furthering a cliché. Surname 3 Important lesson learned from the Film The most essential lesson I learn from the film is that knowing the truth is important because the truth always sets you free. Furthermore, the film teaches that deception will always lead to imprisonment but the truth always leads to freedom. According to Secker et al the film ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Alzheimer s A Progressive Neurodegenerative Disease Alzheimer s is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that steadily destroys the memory and other important mental functions such as social skills, intellect, and memory (4). Although the exact cause of Alzheimer s is not known, most cases of the disease are caused by genetic mutations passed from the parent to the child (1). There are several genes associated with Alzheimer s one in particular is apolipoprotein E (1). The presence of one or more of these genes does not necessarily mean that the person will develop Alzheimer s however; it does increase the risk (5). Several environmental factors and lifestyle choices responsible for damage to blood vessels in the brain also contribute to the development of the disease (4). These factors include, past trauma to the head, cardiovascular disease, smoking, diabetes, or a poor diet (4). Cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer s disease occurs when synapses, which transmit information from one neuron to another, become interrupted and communication ceases (7). The result is death of the nerve cell within the brain, also referred to as synaptic failure (6). Synaptic failure takes place when amyloid plaque and neurofibrillary tangles develop (7). Amyloid plaque develops from amyloid beta proteins, which are released by enzymes from the amyloid precursor protein that is located on the surface of the neuron (7). The amyloid beta proteins are normally cleared within the body once they are released however, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
