My interpretation of the battle of Gettysburg began forming two years ago when I visited the grounds
that 51,000 men had died on. It was a hot summer day; I was tired, hungry, sick of walking, and was
wondering if this very long field trip would ever end. The men that fought on this battle field felt the
same way during the summer of 1863. From reading Killer Angels and The Pickett s Charge Nobody

that they were men of God that were not only fighting for what they believed in but also for each

several important men that played major roles during this war. Michael Sharra taught me what it
would actually be like to be a soldier during the Civil War. Sharra provides many detailed maps of

of it with light blue for her bangs, her hair in two ponytails in the upper back part of her head. Her left

have been compensated until 1945. When the veterans were eventually paid in 1936 through the
Adjusted Compensation Act, it made a massive impact on the individual recipients and their families.
As one man stated in the film, My dad came in the house with seven one hundred dollar bills, and we
thought, oh that s what a bonus is?! The bonus helped numerous families get back on their feet.

I awaken in a state of confusion and dismay as to where I am and how I got here. I assign confusion to
being in a pitch black room, or what I assume to be a room, I cannot tell for sure because it s so dark
and empty. As I stumble around and try to find some sort of clue as to where I am, a blinding light
suddenly pierces through the darkness and shines with an unbearable heat against my pale face. I
begin to wonder if I am trapped in here for a reason, maybe I have done something to deserve this.
