Importance Of Invisalign And Patterns In A Restaurant
In a restaurant, before we even eat the food, before we taste it, we judge it with it s visual. If you
see a picture of food that is not appealing in the menu, even though it tastes wonderful, because of
the negative view, you do not order it. Like food, when we interview for a job, or even meet a
new friend, before they talk with you and find about your personalities, your first impression is
affected by your appearance. A bright smile can give a positive first impression. For an affable
smile, straight teeth is significant. Invisalignand braces can help you get a delightful smile. The
cost and and time depends on the patients situation. Invisalign can only treat crooked teeth, gapped
teeth, overbite, underbite, and open bite. The average cost of invisalign is 5,000 dollars. The
treatment takes about six months to one and a half year. You should keep the aligners for at least
22 hours a day. If you have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you have invisalign trays, you have to visit the dentist every four to six weeks. You have to
change your trays every two weeks because your teeth might turn back to how it was before if
you do not. Since you take out your aligner when you eat, you do not need to do extra cleaning
for your teeth except regular brushing and flossing. However, to clean the trays, you have to use
the Invisalign Cleaning System, which contains crystals that become a cleaning agent when it is
mixed with water, or you need to brush and rinse your trays in warm water. If you do not clean
your trays, colors and odors might stain. For braces, you have to visit the dentist about every
month. Because of the wires and brackets, a lot of food particles will get stuck. The brushing and
flossing is a little more complex, so it will take a little longer. Except this, there is no extra
cleaning needed. After one of the two treatments, you need a positioner or retainer so your teeth will
not turn back to what it was like in the

Andrew Jackson Message Regarding Indian Relations Summary
Rhetoric of Message Regarding Indian Relations ; Andrew Jackson Unwrapped
When one hears the name Andrew Jackson, there are many feelings that are conjured up by an
individual. Some of these emotions include fear, disgust, and comedy. These sentiments are of
reason for substantial evidence exists to prove these emotions plausible. Andrew Jackson was the
seventh president under the Constitution of the United States of America who presided from 1829
until 1837. However, he was the first president to be impeached. With his controversial presidency,
Andrew Jackson implemented many policies that continue to impact the United States in the
modern era. His most controversial contribution was the Indian Removal Act. The Indian Removal
Act prompted the infamous Trail of Tears that killed many CherokeeNative Americans and moved
them westward to confined reservations. Of course, to implement such grand policy, Jackson had to
unduly convince Congress of those actions. In Andrew Jackson s speech given February 22nd,
1831 entitled Message Regarding Indian Relations, he tries to vindicate the Indian Removal Act,
outline the benefits of such legislation, and explain why such it was indeed important. Rhetorical
strategies such as ethos, pathos, and logos are effectively utilized by Jackson to persuade Congress
to believe in the merits of upholding the Indian Removal Act which then lead to westward
expansion and Native American migration from their homelands.

Violence In The Civil Rights Movement Essay
Discuss the role of violence and the media during the civil rights movement. The media brought the
disparities and refusals of essential social equality in the South to the consideration of the whole
country. America in the 1950s was still an on a very basic level supremacist country, however the
NAZI revulsions in Europe had made prejudice with the exception of in the South an untenable
good position. Indeed, even those with supremacist perspectives would progressively deny such
perspectives in courteous society and progressively dismisses government strategies limiting Black
rights. Given this move in White states of mind, media scope of the uncovering the brutalities of
Southern prejudice and suppression of genuine Black terminations turned the aware of a country.
While many if not most White Americans still harbored supremacist sees, couple of outside the
South supported denying Blacks the privilege to vote and other common freedoms. Most were

Cushing s is a disease in which you have an abnormally elevated level of cortisol. There are two
major types of Cushing s. The first type of Cushing s is rare and is called Cushing s Disease , it s
cause by an endogenous factor, which means that something goes wrong inside your body. This
type is usually characterized by the body s own overproduction of ACTH, Which controls Cortisol.
Other internal factors that may cause Cushing s Disease is a pituitary gland tumor (can be benign

The hypothalamus will send a signal to the pancreas to release glucagon, the hormone responsible
for increasing glucose, to the blood. After glucagon enters the blood it will go to the target cell to
bind to the receptor. After it reaches the receptor, glucagon stimulates the breakdown of glycogen,
which will then secrete glucose to the blood thus increasing the blood glucose levels. This is an
example of positive feedback. Once the receptors in blood detect that the glucose in the blood is

The Empire Of The Ottoman Empire
Three of the greatest empire in the history the ottomans in turkey, the Safavids in Persia and the
Mughals in the Indian subcontinent emerged in the Muslim world between the 14th and the 18th
centuries. These three greatest empire resulted in a powerful cultural interaction. The empires
expanded their power and thus Turkish, Mongol and Arab ways of life blended. It resulted in a
flowering of Islamic culture that raised higher in the 16th centuries. The empires ruled through
Islamic Sariah s. They based the authority on Islam. Their basement of power were strong armies,
advanced technology and legal administrative officers. The Ottomans Build a Vast Empire The
ottomans established a vast empire that lasted for a long time, more than 600 years and blended
many cultures in one. The empire s history is still important as many modern societies, from
Algeria to Turkey, originated from the Ottomans rule. Setting the Stage By 1300, the Byzantine
Empire was declining. The nomadic Turks were invading the lands. They had a long history of
invading others. But they were not united. From this place, a strong leader will emerge in and rule
the empire strongly. Turks Move into Byzantium Many Anatolian Turks, to be seen as Ghazi s

Reasons Why the United States Failed in the Vietnam War
President Johnson ordered revenge air strikes against the patrol boat s bases. After that, Congress
had approved the resolution eighty eight to two and Johnson had been granted the powers to
prosecute the war in Vietnam. Senator Wayne Morse or Oregon voted against it, reminding
McNamara that the North Vietnamese patrol boat attacks had been provoked by U.S. presence in
Tonkin Bay (Armstrong 52). It was apparent that the past of American policy in South Vietnam
seemed to be leading America into war. The United States had affiliated themselves with a policy
that was a form of American colonialism, of saving U.S. interests at the cost of the Vietnamese
people. The Tonkin Resolution was evidence. Prior to the war President Franklin D. Roosevelt had
stated that American policy should be changed, but no steps were taken to change it. In 1954, the
U.S. refused to sign the Geneva Accord, so from then on America claimed that North Vietnam was
violating the accord by sending help to the rebels against the South Vietnamese Government. But
we decided not to go to the countries that signed the agreement and who were responsible for its
enforcement. But, instead we violated by joining in the fighting. Every American person or item
that was sent to South Vietnamwas a violation. In January 1965, five months after the Gulf of
Tonkin incident, West Point graduate Richard Steinke refused to join a unit operating in Vietnam
(Schutts). Many knew that the decision to join the war was not a

Symbolism In Lot Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
Lot of the Lottery
Brittney Hale
ENGL 1302
Ms. Mary Elle Young

Shirley Jackson s The Lottery , is a story that is filled with symbolism. The author uses symbolism
to help her represent the human race as cruel no matter how righteous he or she may see
themselves, or how perfect their way of life may seem to be. The story is very effective in making
the reader question the unnecessary nature humans express, especially when it comes to tradition or
violent behavior. Jackson effectively expresses her beliefs concerning mankind s true nature that is
commonly masked behind tradition. The author portrays how inhumane and cruel people can be
when it comes to their values and everyday life. Jackson presents the theme of this short story with a
major use of symbolism. Symbolism is shown throughout the setting of The Lottery, objects,
contestant s names and numbers.
The author makes it well known to the reader that the black box is the central theme of the
passage. The box symbolizes, at first, that something more ominous is to come. Jackson s choice
of the color black is a perfect example for the story, it symbolizes death and complete darkness. A
town person s fate lies in the hands of this inanimate object. The black box is an excellent
representation of the sacrifice the citizens are willing to give to keep up with traditions. The
author not only used the color of the box to symbolize what was happening in the town, but also
the condition of the box. The no longer completely black but splintered box portrays the decaying
of the original religious ideals the lottery (Jackson 230) was founded upon. Even though the
citizens felt uneasy about the box, and would even keep their distance from the stool with the
black box on it (thoughtco). They do not question the origin of the black box, but they accept it as
a way of life.
The names of the character play a significant role in developing the story. Quite a few of the
names are more obvious than others, such as Delacroix, which translates as of the cross . Others,
such as Adams, make the reader think more in depth about them. One of the main characters, Mrs.
Delacroix, appears often in the story. She is a companion of Tessie, the

Channeling Communication Between the World and Us Through...
By definition, sense perception is whereby the idea of sense is referred to the external stimulus in
which we perceive our knowledge through while perception is defined to be the awareness towards
something through our senses. Long before we learned how to use language, reasoning, faith, or
emotions, we have already been making use of our external stimuluses to make senseor even be
conscious of the world. This makes sense perceptionour primary source of obtaining knowledge
since it is the only way for us to interact with the world around us. However, though it plays a
requisite part for us in attaining knowledge, sense perception can both impede and limit our

This is similar to the way in which knowledge is deduced in human sciences. For example, in
Anthropology, anthropologists make claims based on the observations they make of a particular
community. These observations can range from the clothes the people in the community adorn, to
the way in which they interact with one another. Without observing the community while being
immersed in it, theories of communities or about their culture will never surface.
While sense perception serves as our fundamental way of knowing, its strength of it being our
predominant method of acquiring knowledge is its weakness as well.
Due to the imperfection of our sensory organs, it generates inconsistent information gathered
which subsequently affects the way we perceive knowledge. In the case of natural sciences,
such a Biology, the obtainment of raw data sometimes requires the process of the image. For
example, one might need to measure the size of the cell during the study of cytology. Human
error is involved the moment a process of what is observed needs to be carried out. From
various angles, the cell may appear slightly larger, while in other angles, slightly smaller, resulting
in a variation of the data obtained. In such a case, how can one deduce that the data collected by
one person is indeed accurate or false? Besides, we as humans generate our biasness towards
everything, subconsciously or consciously. This results in us never being able to grasp a situation

Descriptive Essay On A Lucid Dream
Connected Alexis tastes the salty breeze around her as she begins to open her eyes, but all she
can feel is her eyes drooping back down. She tries to pull up her fluffy pink blanket, that she
received on her birthday the previous week before. There is nothing there when she reaches for
it. Alexis rubs her eyes and repeatedly blinks, she sees water. Wide awake now, she stands up
and gasps. In front of her is the crystal clear, coral blue ocean. Immediately her jaw drops she is
in shock, she has no clue where she is or how she got there. Bright green palm trees and the baby
blue sky surrounds her. She brushes off the sticky sand on her pale legs and arms. The first thing
that comes to her mind is if she is in another lucid dream. She reacts by pinching herself
continuously. Nothing. Alexis, now hyperventilating, paces around in circles with her hands on
her forehead. She then calms herself down and follows the rhythmic sound of a smooth
waterfall. On the way there she observes majestic birds flying towards the towering trees. In the
short time period Alexis walks, she sees every single kind of exotic flower. She feels the warm
sun rays shining down her back as she sprints towards the waterfall. She expects mermaids to
pop out of the water as she rests her bare feet in the water. She enjoys the giant pool filled with
ice cold water as that is the only things she s familiar with. While washing her face and hair, out
of the corner of her eyes, she sees a trail. As she hikes up the trail she notices that it is man made.
Alexis continues following path, she listens to the sounds of footprints and heavy breathy. She
has the impression that someone is watching her. Out of nature, she sprints. She has an immense
burst of strange energy, and not the good kind, a negative spirit. I lost them for sure , Alexis
murmurs to herself as she slows down. The trail pauses in front of wood stairs with detailed
designs on the railing. She looks up so high that her neck is in risk of breaking. She spots a
breathtaking treehouse, made of dark wood blending in with the trees around it. Mesmerized by the
sight she runs up the steep, sturdy stairs. As she reaches the edge of the porch, she cautiously looks
through the window.

Confucius View On Human Nature
The firmly humanistic orientation of Confucianism has appealed to societies in the Far East for
generations, due to its realistic world view and emphasis on culture and education, both intellectual
and moral. Confucius focused his beliefs around the roles of Filial Piety, Rites, and Goodness in the
life of a Gentleman. Unfortunately, Confuciusis remembered for sayings that have been attributed to
him, not for any writings that have been discovered. Although there are no survived writings by
Confucius, there are many by Hsun Tzu that are still accessible. Though some views on human
nature differ between the two philosophers, their values and ideas have helped create a
generational way of life for many people. An essential theme in... Show more content on

In such a concentric culture, it is imperative to be kind to unlikeable people, but to mainly focus
on the Good. Confucius said, In the presence of a good man, think all the time how you may
learn to equal him. In the presence of a bad man, turn your gaze within (IV, 17). It is inevitable
that humans who dislike each other will meet on occasion, yet a Confucian does not focus on his
negative emotions towards the other person. A Gentleman whose heart is in the smallest degree set
upon Goodness will dislike no one (IV, 3). This opposes the negative aspect of extreme
individualism seen in the West, which is that everyone feels hostile towards each other. People in
the Far East do not speak to each other in hateful ways, which is representative of their collective
nature. Confucianism and collectivism overlap in many ways, which is why both aspects of
society are important in the Far East. Confucius said, The Gentleman by his culture collects
friends about him, and through these friends promotes Goodness (XII, 24). It is very Good
socially and personally to not have an overly strong sense of self. For a Gentleman to be
considered good, he must embody positive characteristics, be kind to others, and be humble in his
own self opinion. Rituals are also necessary in a Gentleman s life, because in the usages of ritual it

in a small group of offenders, they will show criminal behaviors early on in life. This is due to
many factors which will affect them during their development can cause constant criminal offenses.
Two factors that will affect these individuals are neuropsychological deficiencies and

Living with a family adversity can vary in different situations. Most are in accordance of
temporal deficiencies which are people born into an adverse family. These families will be
unsupportive because they fall into one or multiple independent variables such as the

transitions. Children who are in multiple factors such as the age of the mother and single parent
will more than likely have less attention given and encounter bad behavior from the parent
because they do not have the role model or parenting skills. In these two variables, the parents or
parent will need to take responsibility to provide for their family in which they will not finish
high school and have a low socioeconomic status increasing the likelihood of criminal behavior

My Heritage Essay
It s crazy to think that the way you were raised is what has made you become the person you are
today. Everyone has their own story about how they were raised, where they were raised, and who
they were raised with. Each person has their own type of heritage with how they are raised based
upon their family, where they were raised, religion, family traditions, values, and beliefs. The way
you were raised in life has influenced your personality. The way you act and the way you are
viewed as are both influenced by your family s heritage.
I come from a four person family. My mom and dad have always been in my life therefore they
are the people who raised me. After seeing my parents have a successful marriage, it has
influenced me to want the same thing in life and having my first marriage be my last. I have an
older sister who is 23. While growing up, me and my sister had a very close relationship. As we
grew up, we started to drift apart. I learned a lot from being the youngest child. While being 3
years younger than my sister Taylor, watching her grow up and deal with situations taught me
many personal life lessons. Watching her grow up taught me the good and bad things in life and
helped me follow the right path. While going through school, I already knew what to expect when

The Flaws of Non-Governmental Organizations in Developing...
The role of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the world today has been increasingly
questioned in recent literature as people begin to recognize the flaws of our development aid
industry. The article NGOs A Tainted History by Firoze Manji and Carl O Coill explores the
history of the rise of NGOs in Africain order to demonstrate that their aim is to control and colonize
Africa. Similarly, the novel Damned Nations: Geed, Guns, Armies Aidby Samantha Nutt
emphasizes the patriarchal tendencies of the aid industry and the influences of the political
objectives of donor countries with descriptions of her first hand experiences on the field. With the
articles Challenging Indifference to Extreme Poverty: Considering Southern Perspectives on Global
Citizenship and Change by Barbara Heron and International NGOs and the Aid Industry: constraints
on international Solidarity by Molly Kane in mind, I considered the effects and roles of NGOs as
development organizations and instruments of change. Whereas the compilation of stories in
Generation NGO, edited by Alisha Apale and Valerie Stam, recollected individual experiences of
development workers, highlighting the moral and ethical challenges they faced day to day.
Analysis of the abovementioned readings allowed me to conclude that NGOs are destructive in the
developing countries in which they are situated because they impose colonialist influences, are
biased towards their political supporters, are ineffective when faced

Pyelonephritis Research Paper
The urinary tract is the drainage system for the human body. Wastes and extra water are removed
via a system comprised of two kidneys, two ureters, a bladder and a urethra. Should this system
become compromised many complications can occur. One of these complications is pyelonephritis,
meaning: (from Greek ПЂПЌОµО»Ої|П‚ pГЅelo|s, basin + ОЅОµП†ПЃ|ПЊП‚ nepК°rГіs, kidney

kidney(s) and upper urinary tract and is most often the result of a noncontagious bacterial infection
of the bladder. A cause for concern is the fact that, if left untreated, it can progress to a chronic
condition lasting months of even years. These cases can progress to more serious diseases, most
often as a result of systemic infection, and cause; pyonephrosis (pus accumulation around the

The Importance Of The Viet Cong
Having witnessed the situation months before the evacuation of Saigon, It s hard to believe that
everything went pear shaped so quickly. But, the evidence is clear, the Viet Cong were in fact the
superior force in this war, and I suppose we should all be thankful that our forces were withdrawn
early.
However, I am not here to praise the Communist party of Vietnam. It is my firm belief that the
Americans should have won this war, and that Vietnam should never have been divided in the first
place, as this gave them the power to reclaim their land, piece by piece.
The people of Vietnam have become overconfident, and believe that they are entitled to claim their
own land and make their own decisions when clearly, anyone who supports communism

Edgar Allen Poe s Annabel Lee
Happily N Ever After Annabel Lee was the last complete poem of Edgar Allan Poe, published
sometime after his mysterious death in 1849. The poem, much like many of his other works, is
about a young woman named Annabel Lee, with whom the speaker is in love with and who
tragically dies. Poe had a lot of women die in his life, and though it is unclear who the poem is
about, it has been interpreted to be about his wife Virginia, who had died young. He places
blame on the angels for Annabel s death, who appear to be his foes instead of the friendly beings
they are commonly portrayed as. The speaker proclaims his undying love for Annabel, who is
separated from him by several different forces, by using imagery, symbolism, and dreamlike diction.

The opening line, It was many and many a year ago (1), mirrors the Once upon a time line many
fairytales employ. The phrase In a kingdom by the sea (2) is repeated four times in the poem; the
word kingdom conjures an image of a castle, a common backdrop for fairytales. This image is
upheld throughout the poem by the repetition of this phrase. Poe s choice of diction places the
story in a romantic setting, intensifying the love they have for each other, which is much like the
love that princes and princesses have for each other in those stories. Their love reflects the true
love that has become a staple of fairytales, and it is so strong that the speaker still harbors these
feelings toward her. The fairyland setting serves to reinforce the ardent love these two have, making

Empathy Star Trek
Star Trek: TNG and the Cultivation of Empathy
In this paper, I argue that watching Star Trek: The Next Generation cultivates empathy. Empathy is
a good that human beings ought to develop and having a sense of empathy is one of the best things
in life. Empathy consists in the capacity to understand what another person is going through from
their perspective. The reason that a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life is that it is
impossible to have deep and meaningful relationships with others when we don t have empathy.
Without empathy, we inevitably turn inward and live a lonely life. For this reason, empathy is one
of the best things in life.
Regular watching of Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy. The reason why this is the
case is that watching acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now characters in Star Trek: TNG routinely show empathetic concern for one another. For instance,
when a race of cyborgs capture Jean Luc Picard (captain of the Enterprise on the show), the crew of
the
Enterprise do everything in their power to rescue Picard. One of their main motivations for rescuing
Picard is their experience of the sense of distress that he experiences while in captivity. This is just
one instance where empathy is shown in the program, but it happens on a regular basis. In sum,
watching
Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy because the characters regularly display empathy
on the show and because we tend to imitate the actions that we see other human beings performing.
Someone might object to this argument by pointing out that characters on the show also display
cruelty that involves a lack of empathy. For instance, in one episode a malevolent being kills one
of the members for the crew for no apparent reason. If we watch this cruelty, then perhaps we
ourselves might behave more cruelly. But this objection can be refuted. Cruelty on the show is

The Impact Of Internet On Public Opinion On Society
Today, the Internet is where society can find any type information, including the news worldwide.
Companies, advertisers and online systems have personalized Internet experiences to draw in
users. In other words, users are forced to read certain topics based on their search history and are
recommended more of the same topics. This causes a large impact on public opinion in society,
but the ability to find diverse content is more of an issue. The challenges to overcome diversity
include, the user s motivation, awareness and ability to seek for diverse content (Hoffman et al. 1).
With the obstacles of filtering and web programming, are users receiving all the different

Based on the user s search history, filtering is applied in the system. Programming would find a
way to determine the search, in some way, similar to previous searches. Hoffman discusses more
that, The awareness challenge lies in users inability or difficulty in experiencing diversity due to a
lack of knowledge about the production, filtering, and consumption mechanisms at play (3). This
forces users to view only what they are given. It will have viewers looking at stuff based on their
previous searches. With this in mind, users awareness of different content is becoming nearly
impossible if filtering is applied.
The media is becoming more specific from large companies such as Google or Facebook, that
can draw us to different sides with filtering technology for profit benefits. In Engin Bozdag s 2013
article, he shares that personalization is a major aspect for advertisers, and can be used for online
targeting for potential customers (107). There are more online product purchases than ever before,
and advertisers design these online personalization systems to persuade customers (Li and Unger

uses various profile elements to display targeted advertising including age, gender, marital status,
and education (98). These companies earn large profit with advertisements because of filtering and
personalization. In addition, it

Psychological And Sociological Effects Of Technology
Psychological Considerations and Sociological Effects There have been many studies done on
the negative psychological and sociological effects of technology while some may be true
technology has its share of positive effects on society. The advances of technology have aided in
the access to information from relatively anywhere. According to Hepburn (2013) By the end of
2014, the number of Internet users was expected to be almost 3 billion, two thirds of whom live
in the developing world, and the number of mobile broadband subscriptions was expected to reach
2.3 billion globally (as cited in YГЎГ±ez, Okada, Palau2015, p.89). It has become easier to stay
connected to family, friends, access personal information, and has improved educational
opportunities. Technology is always evolving and changing for the better. Mobile technologies and
networks are increasingly expanding in their sophistication and capacity, and new applications
(software programs) are enhancing the ways in which individuals interact (Giota, 2014). Medical
Uses Advancements in technology have made it possible for people to access medical information,
communicate with their doctor, manage and track diseases, seek help, and maintain anonymity.
Technology has facilitated the tracking of medical information, for example, Kaiser Permanente

Cupping At The Rio Olympics 2016
Cupping has recently made headlines at the Rio Olympics 2016 when Michael Phelps, and
several Olympians have been spotted rocking huge round purple bruises in their backs. Sadly,
these bruises didn t come from extreme BDSM play (though that would ve been a much better
story to tell) but rather came from another ancient therapy known as cupping. Cupping is an
ancient therapy mostly used in Middle Eastern and Asian countries. The therapy involves putting
multiple warm round suction cups in your back targeting the sore parts of your body. This process
is believed to stimulate muscles and blood flow. Back in the day, cupping therapy has been used to
cure all kinds of ailments including shingles, facial paralysis, and even acne. A 2015 study (Lauche
et al., 2015) examined whether cupping worked better than a sham controlled treatment for patients
suffering fibromyalgia, a chronic disorder known to cause widespread pain, muscle stiffness, and
even depression. For this study, participants were put in one of three conditions (k=3): Cupping
therapy, sham cupping therapy, or the usual care condition. Those in cupping therapy and sham
cupping therapy condition received the treatment 2 5x a week. Conversely, those in sham cupping
therapy was administered using cupping glass with a hole on top which negates the pressure
created by the real cupping method. Subjects were blind in this study and not aware of any sham

The main symptoms of Chicken Pox include experiencing extreme itchiness around your body, flu

disease in Britain in 1 year. Also, every year there are around 5000 9000 cases of chicken pox and
around 100 deaths (caused by the Varicella Virus) in
America.
When the body has successfully defeated the virus, the virus will remain in the body in case of
future attacks from the same microorganism. After having chickenpox, it is unlikely to be infected
by it again. But the virus stays in your body after you re cured from the illness. After a chickenpox
infection, the virus will be inactive in the body, because if there are any future attacks by the same
virus, the body will recognize it and have an easier time destroying it. The immune system keeps the
virus inactive, but it is possible for the virus to reactivate and cause a similar form of the disease
called shingles, also referred to as herpes zoster.

The Ontological Files
The authors[7] presented an approach in which ontological profiles are built. Ontology is
considered to be a hierarchy of topics which is used to classify and categorise web pages. It is also
used to identify the topics in which the particular user is interested. Ontology has some existing
concepts to which interest scores are assigned. Keeping the reference ontology, these profiles are
maintained and updated. With observing the ongoing behaviour, a spreading activation algorithm
was proposed for maintaining the interest scores. So this way of the interest scores updation, the
most relevant results are brought on the top.
Each built profile is an instance of this reference ontology. A user profile may comprise of variety
of concepts which is represented as nodes. Each node is represented as a pair (Cj, IS(Cj)),where Cj
is a concept in the reference ontology and IS(Cj)is the interest score annotation for that concept.
Every concept in the profile is provided with an interest score having initial value as one.
The ontological user profile is treated as the network of concepts and the interest scores are updated
based on the activation values. These scores are updated using spreading activation algorithm[8].
Input vector is also involved to represent the current interaction of the user. When the user selects
documents, the user profile is updated and the interest scores of the existing concepts are modified
using spreading activation. by this way the web pages in which the user

Dehumanization Of Jewish People During The Holocaust

Dehumanization of Jewish People during the Holocaust Imagine being treated like cattle living
one s life inside a fence, starved, killed for no reason. Would one hang on to their humanity, or
would they let go of their hope, their compassion, their faith? From 1939 to 1945, the Nazi German
military systematically kidnapped, tortured and killed millions of Jews in their twisted effort to
racially purify Germany. This genocide has come to be known as the Holocaust. During the
Holocaust, millions of Jews were mercilessly beaten, sadistically experimented upon, and killed for
pleasure. Through these three ways, the Jewish people were treated as subhuman; through these
three ways, the Jewish people began to believe it themselves.
Jewish people were subjected to terrible beatings, powerless at the hands of the German soldiers.
Evidence of this can be found in Night, Elie Wiesel s memoir of his experience as a Jewish captive
of Nazi Germany. When his father asks to use a bathroom, Elie claims the Kapo slapped [his]
father with such force that he fell down and then crawled back to his place on all fours (Wiesel
39). Obviously, such force exhibited by this Kapo was in humane and uncalled for; these acts, and
this attitude of violence and condescension taken by the German Kapos, contributed to the
dehumanization of the Jewish people. The spirit of anti semitism that was so prevalent in Germany
during the Holocaust led to

The surveys conducted in 1992 and 1993 show New York City s police department that a very
much changed is needed within the law enforcement and the city. On July 18, 1994, the New York

Analysis Of Starry Night
Rachael Brooks
Mrs. Cole
English 4B
23 October 2015 Analyzing Mood and Theme in Starry Night For many, the painting Starry
Night, by Vincent Van Gogh, is simply paint on a canvas. Created in the summer of 1889, while
Van Gogh was in a mental asylum, others perceive the painting as a message of Van Gogh s
desire for acceptance and normalcy. Heavily influenced by the Expressionist movement, Starry
Night is a physical representation of Van Gogh s feelings of melencholy during his stay in the
asylum. His troubled mind allowed Van Gogh to create a painting with a yearning mood.
Throughout the years, people have tried to understand Van Gogh s reason for painting Starry
Night. One way that people have used to try to understand him is through ekphrastic poetry, which
is poetry about a work of art, such as Anne Sexton s The Starry Night poem and Don McClean s
Vincent (Starry, Starry Night). While The Starry Night by Anne Sexton depicts Starry Night as
having an ominous mood, the empathetic mood in Vincent (Starry, Starry Night), by Don
McClean, with its use of sympathetic diction, detail, and figurative language best mirrors that of
the original painting. Van Gogh s Starry Night expresses the troubles and yearnings going on in
the artist s mind as he painted. The focal point in the foreground of the painting is a dark object,
blocking the viewer s sight line to the town. This dark object may represent Van Gogh s insanity
blocking his chance at a normal life.

Burning The Flag Research Paper
The United States Flag is symbol of patriotism for America. The United State Flag Code is
supposed to protect the U.S. flag from any wrongdoing. U.S citizens have a right to protest. Some
protests lead to violence, because of violence some U.S. citizens do drastic such as burning the
nation flag. They most likely believe that it is ok because they have a right to protests and there is
no amendment to protect the flag. So they must think it is legal.
Burning the flag can be considered a crime. The U.S. Flag code states that Any person mutilating,
defacing, physically defiling, maintaining on the floor or trampling upon any flag of the United
States can be given a fine or serve one year in prison for harming the flag. While the Flag Code

Candle Burning Lab
The purpose of this lab was to observe the burning of a candle and to determine the rate at which a
candle burns. In order to begin, we tightened our candle into the clay located in a weight boat.
Then, we measured the initial height and mass. The original height was 8.5 cm. The original mass
was 9.26 g. In addition, we noted that the candlewas made of wax, had a spiral pattern, was pink
with white stripes, and had a pencil like shape.
For the experiment, we attempted to burn the candle for 5 2 minute time periods. As we were
burning the candle, here were our observations: the wick is burning, burning is taking place inside
the candle, wax is melting, candle is getting shorter, most heat released above flame, wick is
slanting, wick is blackened,

A Comparison Of Elia Kazan And Arthur Miller
Elia Kazan and Arthur Miller had been good friends for quite a long time. Miller and Kazan
could have made some of the best films and plays in the world, but they let things come between
them. They worked on films and plays together. They had a professional and personal
relationship, however The Red Scare destroyed that. The threat of communism also broke them
apart. Arthur Miller was a playwright who wrote plays such as The Crucible and Death of a
Salesman . Miller was a kind man and wanted to keep his reputation to a high standard. He
believed that theater would change the world. His works were based off of his life, friends, and
family. The way he portrayed himself made people believe that he was a hero. Elia Kazanwas Miller
s director on Broadway when Death of a Salesman came out in 1947. The play was about a New
York family s life in reality and what they wanted it to be. Elia Kazan was a theater director
where he worked with Miller. He is considered one of the greatest stage directors today. Kazan
was a man who did not care who he betrayed. His films were personal and special to him. The
turning point of his career was when he appeared in front of the HUAC and named names. He
said he took the easiest of two routes when asked why he testified. In 1999 he was awarded an
Oscar and many actors chose not to applaud. They shared the same visions and radical politics.
They also had the same taste in women. Marilyn Monroehad an

The Effects Of Media And Stereotypes On Women
Women Leaders and
The Effects of Media and Stereotypes Confidence, integrity, purpose, empowerment,
determination, and courage. These are some of the many words associated with leadership.
Regardless of gender, these words apply to all leaders. It is no longer a question of what women
leaders are, but rather why there are not women leaders. Today s society focuses on fulfilling
leadership positions with males, not because females do not have the same skills and knowledge as
men, but because people associate men with leaders. There are various daily obstacles that women
face in the attempt towards leadership roles including prejudice beliefs, resistance due to
stereotypes, leadership styles, family life demands and underinvestment in social capital. We have
found that through depictions in the media, women are not seen as effective leaders in the same
sense as men. These media findings and various research techniques provide evidence for the lack
of female presence in leadership positions.
Media Review
As part of our research, we Googled different images associated with women and leadership.
When you Google women leaders, what do you see? Countless images of beautiful women appear.
Women have always had to walk a fine line when it comes to their femininity in the workforce. If a
woman is too girly , she is looked down upon. When a woman is too masculine , she is looked
down upon. Google pictures of women news casters. Many news casters today are dressed in a

Pedagogical Documentation In Children
a.Pedagogical documentation is a form of documentation that documents children s experiences and
their view of the world around them. Teachers can use this form of documentation to help in
assessing children. This form of assessment allows teachers to look at the dialogue that happened
with pictures as more evidence. Pedagogical documentation helps create a shared understanding.
This shared understanding helps create future curriculum by seeing what the children did and said
during their investigation. It also provides ideas for what can be done in the future. An example of
this type of documentation I would use in our current small groups in the lab school. Taking pictures
of what the children are discovering and learningand writing down quotes as continue to... Show

The central question of this documentation is photography. The message is giving children a
different lens or perspective of looking at something.
2.I feel as if this documentation portrays a strong image of the child as it includes pictures and
dialogue from the child in the picture. The three pictures that are shown are all from different
perspectives, which allows one to see how the child is taking the pictures. The dialogue helps us
understand what and why he was taking a picture at that angle or a certain part of the columns.
3.The documentation uses powerful words in the explanation of the documentation. You can also
see powerful words through the child s dialogue. The strongest word used by the teacher was,
illusionary. The strongest words from the child s dialogue is when he says, ...they seem further
away, they go as far as Rome, as far as Mars. I really liked this, because it allows one to see what
other ideas this child might be interested in.
4.Of the three pictures in this documentation panel, the strongest, I would say is the one in the
bottom left corner. We see the child taking a picture, but we aren t able to see what or why he is
taking a picture at that

The Effects Of Free Speech On The United States
As an American citizen and a late bloomer to the political arena in the United States, I find myself
arriving in an disheartening and frightening environment. Where I have suddenly awoken in a dis
utopian world of money, power and greed, where the rich elites of the population has all the power
to speak up. Where money has become more out spoken and heard than actual dialog, while the
majority of the population remains silenced through underfunded attempts to express their views.
Giving money the potency of free speech enables only the people with a financial mouth to
resonate loud enough to be heard. Presidents, Senators, Legislators and House of Representative
members are involved in the process of making policies and laws, who are... Show more content on

Lobbying is a way for self interest groups to persuade the outcomes of policies through discussions
and research. Thurber, James PHD in political science, director and founder of the Center for
Congressional and Presidential Studies and a distinguished Professor at the Public Affairs American
University, acknowledges in his research paper President Obama, Congress and the Battle with
Interest Groups and Lobbyists identifies lobbying as fundamentally [able to] influence the way
issues and problems [are] framed and ultimately the way policies are made in Washington (3). Self
interest groups and lobbyists should have power to influence through debate in the United States on
domestic policies that affect U.S. citizens. However, there is a overwhelming amount of cash being
poured into politics to persuade decisions. Not only from U.S. interests, but foreign interest groups
are pouring millions of dollars into American lobbying groups to persuade U.S. policies that affect
millions of American citizens nation wide. Many lobbying groups give foreign investors whose
interests do not coincide with the American citizens, a vehicle to influence U.S. domestic policies.
Julia DiLaura, an investigative journalist for the Center of Public Integrity, confirms this in her
article Foreign Governments Pay to Influence U.S. Policy , illustrates that these

She was born with a bow in hand. They d always say. As I would stride past them on cobblestone
pathways, my instrument case hefty on my arm, I could hear them muttering and mumbling to
themselves.
They say she s the daughter of Apollo. I can see it in her face, look at the jawline!
She s so lucky to be the daughter of a god...
I hear her eyes look just like the sun s rays. They say she even has a tinge of orange in them!
Oh, yes. They always talked. They gossiped just like housewives did, out on the streets and in the
wheat fields and in the apple orchards. That is why, whenever I walked down the wide cobblestone
path, the subject of their endless wishful desires, they never saw me. I always laughed when I

warmth on my cloudy white dress, and I loved how it always felt like my father s hugs.
Um, hello? Will you stop staring at the sun already? You re going to burn your eyes right out of
your head, Diantha! The festival s going to be over by the time you get inside! A snarky voice
snapped behind me.
Oh, be patient, Byron. Your laurel will burn if you keep on overheating. I brushed her aside,
knowing all too well it made her angry.
I will personally call your dad from the clouds to come stop you, Diantha! No, no no, actually, I ll

Bond Girls
The true comedy of the film comes out during run ends with Dr. Evil s failed gadgets. The first
example is when Dr. Evil gets mad at one of his henchman for not doing his job correctly, so he
tries to kill him by trap door into a fire pit. What ensues is pure hilarity as his henchman shouts
back up in pain that he is not dead and would like someone to help him. This brings comic relief to
the audience, and then suddenly they hear a gun shot and expecting there to be silence the audience
hears the henchman shout, You shot me in my arm! This is comedic in that the henchman cannot

The Importance Of Critical Pedagogy In Teaching
Introduction
Critical pedagogy entails a teaching method motivated through critical hypothesis along with
different drastic philosophies that aims at aiding students inquire and experiment speculated
domination alongside underpinning the dogmas and practices assumed to rule. It can also be
defined as a postulate and attempts of aiding students attain critical awareness. Besides, the writing
of critical pedagogy remains exceptionally expansive in fact and involves thick information. Truth
be told, the political point of view of critical pedagogy regarding the educational programs provides
a lot in making bounteous grants in the field. Furthermore, as the same number of creators see,
basic instructional method does not have an arrangement of unmistakable standards that builds the
way toward setting an integrated meaning on its premises quite difficult. All the same, the
execution of parts regarding critical pedagogy within the classroom environment can have vast
scale outputs in the showing procedure overall. Thus, it stands imperative to offer a short
examination of the writing on basic teaching method, a scrutiny of its centre standards as well as an
examination of the critique coordinated contrary to its suppositions.
Moreover, critical pedagogy has its underlying foundations in Paulo Freire, an individual broadly
thought as the inaugural theorist of basic teaching method (Freire Slover, 1983). Despite the fact
that initially Freire devoted his endeavours on matters

  • 8. Reasons Why the United States Failed in the Vietnam War President Johnson ordered revenge air strikes against the patrol boat s bases. After that, Congress had approved the resolution eighty eight to two and Johnson had been granted the powers to prosecute the war in Vietnam. Senator Wayne Morse or Oregon voted against it, reminding McNamara that the North Vietnamese patrol boat attacks had been provoked by U.S. presence in Tonkin Bay (Armstrong 52). It was apparent that the past of American policy in South Vietnam seemed to be leading America into war. The United States had affiliated themselves with a policy that was a form of American colonialism, of saving U.S. interests at the cost of the Vietnamese people. The Tonkin Resolution was evidence. Prior to the war President Franklin D. Roosevelt had stated that American policy should be changed, but no steps were taken to change it. In 1954, the U.S. refused to sign the Geneva Accord, so from then on America claimed that North Vietnam was violating the accord by sending help to the rebels against the South Vietnamese Government. But we decided not to go to the countries that signed the agreement and who were responsible for its enforcement. But, instead we violated by joining in the fighting. Every American person or item that was sent to South Vietnamwas a violation. • 10. Symbolism In Lot Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson Lot of the Lottery Brittney Hale ENGL 1302 Ms. Mary Elle Young 10 03 17 Shirley Jackson s The Lottery , is a story that is filled with symbolism. The author uses symbolism to help her represent the human race as cruel no matter how righteous he or she may see themselves, or how perfect their way of life may seem to be. The story is very effective in making the reader question the unnecessary nature humans express, especially when it comes to tradition or violent behavior. Jackson effectively expresses her beliefs concerning mankind s true nature that is commonly masked behind tradition. The author portrays how inhumane and cruel people can be when it comes to their values and everyday life. Jackson presents the theme of this short story with a major use of symbolism. Symbolism is shown throughout the setting of The Lottery, objects, contestant s names and numbers. The author makes it well known to the reader that the black box is the central theme of the passage. The box symbolizes, at first, that something more ominous is to come. Jackson s choice of the color black is a perfect example for the story, it symbolizes death and complete darkness. A town person s fate lies in the hands of this inanimate object. The black box is an excellent representation of the sacrifice the citizens are willing to give to keep up with traditions. The author not only used the color of the box to symbolize what was happening in the town, but also the condition of the box. The no longer completely black but splintered box portrays the decaying of the original religious ideals the lottery (Jackson 230) was founded upon. Even though the citizens felt uneasy about the box, and would even keep their distance from the stool with the black box on it (thoughtco). They do not question the origin of the black box, but they accept it as a way of life. The names of the character play a significant role in developing the story. Quite a few of the names are more obvious than others, such as Delacroix, which translates as of the cross . Others, such as Adams, make the reader think more in depth about them. One of the main characters, Mrs. Delacroix, appears often in the story. She is a companion of Tessie, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She tries to pull up her fluffy pink blanket, that she received on her birthday the previous week before. There is nothing there when she reaches for it. Alexis rubs her eyes and repeatedly blinks, she sees water. Wide awake now, she stands up and gasps. In front of her is the crystal clear, coral blue ocean. Immediately her jaw drops she is in shock, she has no clue where she is or how she got there. Bright green palm trees and the baby blue sky surrounds her. She brushes off the sticky sand on her pale legs and arms. The first thing that comes to her mind is if she is in another lucid dream. She reacts by pinching herself continuously. Nothing. Alexis, now hyperventilating, paces around in circles with her hands on her forehead. She then calms herself down and follows the rhythmic sound of a smooth waterfall. On the way there she observes majestic birds flying towards the towering trees. In the short time period Alexis walks, she sees every single kind of exotic flower. She feels the warm sun rays shining down her back as she sprints towards the waterfall. She expects mermaids to pop out of the water as she rests her bare feet in the water. She enjoys the giant pool filled with ice cold water as that is the only things she s familiar with. While washing her face and hair, out of the corner of her eyes, she sees a trail. As she hikes up the trail she notices that it is man made. Alexis continues following path, she listens to the sounds of footprints and heavy breathy. She has the impression that someone is watching her. Out of nature, she sprints. She has an immense burst of strange energy, and not the good kind, a negative spirit. I lost them for sure , Alexis murmurs to herself as she slows down. The trail pauses in front of wood stairs with detailed designs on the railing. She looks up so high that her neck is in risk of breaking. She spots a breathtaking treehouse, made of dark wood blending in with the trees around it. Mesmerized by the sight she runs up the steep, sturdy stairs. As she reaches the edge of the porch, she cautiously looks through the window. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But, the evidence is clear, the Viet Cong were in fact the superior force in this war, and I suppose we should all be thankful that our forces were withdrawn early. However, I am not here to praise the Communist party of Vietnam. It is my firm belief that the Americans should have won this war, and that Vietnam should never have been divided in the first place, as this gave them the power to reclaim their land, piece by piece. • 27. Edgar Allen Poe s Annabel Lee Happily N Ever After Annabel Lee was the last complete poem of Edgar Allan Poe, published sometime after his mysterious death in 1849. The poem, much like many of his other works, is about a young woman named Annabel Lee, with whom the speaker is in love with and who tragically dies. Poe had a lot of women die in his life, and though it is unclear who the poem is about, it has been interpreted to be about his wife Virginia, who had died young. He places blame on the angels for Annabel s death, who appear to be his foes instead of the friendly beings they are commonly portrayed as. The speaker proclaims his undying love for Annabel, who is separated from him by several different forces, by using imagery, symbolism, and dreamlike diction. ... The phrase In a kingdom by the sea (2) is repeated four times in the poem; the word kingdom conjures an image of a castle, a common backdrop for fairytales. This image is upheld throughout the poem by the repetition of this phrase. Poe s choice of diction places the story in a romantic setting, intensifying the love they have for each other, which is much like the love that princes and princesses have for each other in those stories. Their love reflects the true love that has become a staple of fairytales, and it is so strong that the speaker still harbors these feelings toward her. • 28. Empathy Star Trek Star Trek: TNG and the Cultivation of Empathy In this paper, I argue that watching Star Trek: The Next Generation cultivates empathy. Empathy is a good that human beings ought to develop and having a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life. Empathy consists in the capacity to understand what another person is going through from their perspective. The reason that a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life is that it is impossible to have deep and meaningful relationships with others when we don t have empathy. Without empathy, we inevitably turn inward and live a lonely life. For this reason, empathy is one of the best things in life. Regular watching of Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy. The reason why this is the case is that watching acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now characters in Star Trek: TNG routinely show empathetic concern for one another. For instance, when a race of cyborgs capture Jean Luc Picard (captain of the Enterprise on the show), the crew of the Enterprise do everything in their power to rescue Picard. One of their main motivations for rescuing Picard is their experience of the sense of distress that he experiences while in captivity. This is just one instance where empathy is shown in the program, but it happens on a regular basis. In sum, watching Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy because the characters regularly display empathy on the show and because we tend to imitate the actions that we see other human beings performing. Someone might object to this argument by pointing out that characters on the show also display cruelty that involves a lack of empathy. For instance, in one episode a malevolent being kills one of the members for the crew for no apparent reason. If we watch this cruelty, then perhaps we ourselves might behave more cruelly. Based on the user s search history, filtering is applied in the system. Programming would find a way to determine the search, in some way, similar to previous searches. Cupping At The Rio Olympics 2016 Cupping has recently made headlines at the Rio Olympics 2016 when Michael Phelps, and several Olympians have been spotted rocking huge round purple bruises in their backs. Sadly, these bruises didn t come from extreme BDSM play (though that would ve been a much better story to tell) but rather came from another ancient therapy known as cupping. Cupping is an ancient therapy mostly used in Middle Eastern and Asian countries. The therapy involves putting multiple warm round suction cups in your back targeting the sore parts of your body. This process is believed to stimulate muscles and blood flow. Back in the day, cupping therapy has been used to cure all kinds of ailments including shingles, facial paralysis, and even acne. Ontology is considered to be a hierarchy of topics which is used to classify and categorise web pages. It is also used to identify the topics in which the particular user is interested. Ontology has some existing concepts to which interest scores are assigned. Keeping the reference ontology, these profiles are maintained and updated. With observing the ongoing behaviour, a spreading activation algorithm was proposed for maintaining the interest scores. So this way of the interest scores updation, the most relevant results are brought on the top. Each built profile is an instance of this reference ontology. A user profile may comprise of variety of concepts which is represented as nodes. Each node is represented as a pair (Cj, IS(Cj)),where Cj is a concept in the reference ontology and IS(Cj)is the interest score annotation for that concept. Every concept in the profile is provided with an interest score having initial value as one. The ontological user profile is treated as the network of concepts and the interest scores are updated based on the activation values. These scores are updated using spreading activation algorithm[8]. Input vector is also involved to represent the current interaction of the user. Dehumanization Of Jewish People During The Holocaust Nathan Vondergeest Mrs. Cummins English 2 9/28/15 Dehumanization of Jewish People during the Holocaust Imagine being treated like cattle living one s life inside a fence, starved, killed for no reason. Would one hang on to their humanity, or would they let go of their hope, their compassion, their faith? From 1939 to 1945, the Nazi German military systematically kidnapped, tortured and killed millions of Jews in their twisted effort to racially purify Germany. This genocide has come to be known as the Holocaust. During the Holocaust, millions of Jews were mercilessly beaten, sadistically experimented upon, and killed for pleasure. Through these three ways, the Jewish people were treated as subhuman; through these three ways, the Jewish people began to believe it themselves. Jewish people were subjected to terrible beatings, powerless at the hands of the German soldiers. Evidence of this can be found in Night, Elie Wiesel s memoir of his experience as a Jewish captive of Nazi Germany. When his father asks to use a bathroom, Elie claims the Kapo slapped [his] father with such force that he fell down and then crawled back to his place on all fours (Wiesel 39). Obviously, such force exhibited by this Kapo was in humane and uncalled for; these acts, and this attitude of violence and condescension taken by the German Kapos, contributed to the dehumanization of the Jewish people. Analysis Of Starry Night Rachael Brooks Mrs. Cole English 4B 23 October 2015 Analyzing Mood and Theme in Starry Night For many, the painting Starry Night, by Vincent Van Gogh, is simply paint on a canvas. Created in the summer of 1889, while Van Gogh was in a mental asylum, others perceive the painting as a message of Van Gogh s desire for acceptance and normalcy. Heavily influenced by the Expressionist movement, Starry Night is a physical representation of Van Gogh s feelings of melencholy during his stay in the asylum. His troubled mind allowed Van Gogh to create a painting with a yearning mood. Throughout the years, people have tried to understand Van Gogh s reason for painting Starry Night. One way that people have used to try to understand him is through ekphrastic poetry, which is poetry about a work of art, such as Anne Sexton s The Starry Night poem and Don McClean s Vincent (Starry, Starry Night). While The Starry Night by Anne Sexton depicts Starry Night as having an ominous mood, the empathetic mood in Vincent (Starry, Starry Night), by Don McClean, with its use of sympathetic diction, detail, and figurative language best mirrors that of the original painting. Van Gogh s Starry Night expresses the troubles and yearnings going on in the artist s mind as he painted. • 48. A Comparison Of Elia Kazan And Arthur Miller Elia Kazan and Arthur Miller had been good friends for quite a long time. Miller and Kazan could have made some of the best films and plays in the world, but they let things come between them. They worked on films and plays together. They had a professional and personal relationship, however The Red Scare destroyed that. The threat of communism also broke them apart. Arthur Miller was a playwright who wrote plays such as The Crucible and Death of a Salesman . Miller was a kind man and wanted to keep his reputation to a high standard. He believed that theater would change the world. His works were based off of his life, friends, and family. The way he portrayed himself made people believe that he was a hero. Elia Kazanwas Miller s director on Broadway when Death of a Salesman came out in 1947. The play was about a New York family s life in reality and what they wanted it to be. Elia Kazan was a theater director where he worked with Miller. He is considered one of the greatest stage directors today. Kazan was a man who did not care who he betrayed. These are some of the many words associated with leadership. Regardless of gender, these words apply to all leaders. It is no longer a question of what women leaders are, but rather why there are not women leaders. Today s society focuses on fulfilling leadership positions with males, not because females do not have the same skills and knowledge as men, but because people associate men with leaders. There are various daily obstacles that women face in the attempt towards leadership roles including prejudice beliefs, resistance due to stereotypes, leadership styles, family life demands and underinvestment in social capital. We have found that through depictions in the media, women are not seen as effective leaders in the same sense as men. These media findings and various research techniques provide evidence for the lack of female presence in leadership positions. Media Review As part of our research, we Googled different images associated with women and leadership. When you Google women leaders, what do you see? Countless images of beautiful women appear. Women have always had to walk a fine line when it comes to their femininity in the workforce. If a woman is too girly , she is looked down upon. When a woman is too masculine , she is looked down upon. Google pictures of women news casters. Many news casters today are dressed in a sexy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Pedagogical Documentation In Children a.Pedagogical documentation is a form of documentation that documents children s experiences and their view of the world around them. Teachers can use this form of documentation to help in assessing children. This form of assessment allows teachers to look at the dialogue that happened with pictures as more evidence. Pedagogical documentation helps create a shared understanding. This shared understanding helps create future curriculum by seeing what the children did and said during their investigation. It also provides ideas for what can be done in the future. An example of this type of documentation I would use in our current small groups in the lab school. Taking pictures of what the children are discovering and learningand writing down quotes as continue to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The central question of this documentation is photography. The message is giving children a different lens or perspective of looking at something. 2.I feel as if this documentation portrays a strong image of the child as it includes pictures and dialogue from the child in the picture. The three pictures that are shown are all from different perspectives, which allows one to see how the child is taking the pictures. The dialogue helps us understand what and why he was taking a picture at that angle or a certain part of the columns. 3.The documentation uses powerful words in the explanation of the documentation. You can also see powerful words through the child s dialogue. The strongest word used by the teacher was, illusionary. The strongest words from the child s dialogue is when he says, ...they seem further away, they go as far as Rome, as far as Mars. I really liked this, because it allows one to see what other ideas this child might be interested in. 4.Of the three pictures in this documentation panel, the strongest, I would say is the one in the bottom left corner. The Effects Of Free Speech On The United States As an American citizen and a late bloomer to the political arena in the United States, I find myself arriving in an disheartening and frightening environment. Where I have suddenly awoken in a dis utopian world of money, power and greed, where the rich elites of the population has all the power to speak up. Where money has become more out spoken and heard than actual dialog, while the majority of the population remains silenced through underfunded attempts to express their views. Giving money the potency of free speech enables only the people with a financial mouth to resonate loud enough to be heard. Lobbying is a way for self interest groups to persuade the outcomes of policies through discussions and research. Thurber, James PHD in political science, director and founder of the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies and a distinguished Professor at the Public Affairs American University, acknowledges in his research paper President Obama, Congress and the Battle with Interest Groups and Lobbyists identifies lobbying as fundamentally [able to] influence the way issues and problems [are] framed and ultimately the way policies are made in Washington (3). Self interest groups and lobbyists should have power to influence through debate in the United States on domestic policies that affect U.S. citizens. However, there is a overwhelming amount of cash being poured into politics to persuade decisions. Not only from U.S. interests, but foreign interest groups are pouring millions of dollars into American lobbying groups to persuade U.S. policies that affect millions of American citizens nation wide. Many lobbying groups give foreign investors whose interests do not coincide with the American citizens, a vehicle to influence U.S. domestic policies. Julia DiLaura, an investigative journalist for the Center of Public Integrity, confirms this in her article Foreign Governments Pay to Influence U.S. Policy , illustrates that these ... As I would stride past them on cobblestone pathways, my instrument case hefty on my arm, I could hear them muttering and mumbling to themselves. They say she s the daughter of Apollo. I can see it in her face, look at the jawline! She s so lucky to be the daughter of a god... I hear her eyes look just like the sun s rays. They say she even has a tinge of orange in them! Oh, yes. They always talked. They gossiped just like housewives did, out on the streets and in the wheat fields and in the apple orchards.
