The Significance of the Frontier in American History
How does Turner explain the recurring need for communication and transportation along the American
frontier? What Turner wants to point out here is that the American West is the most important feature
of American history, and of the development of its society. He refers several times to a process of
Americanization and we will see that the definition he gives of it is a very peculiar one. He gives a
definition of the frontier: it lies at the hither edge of free land , meaning that he considers the Indian
territory to be free land. According to him the frontier is the meeting point between savagery and
civilization , the most rapid and effective Americanization . The process of Americanization he refers
to is in fact a double ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Year by year the farmers who lived on soil, whose returns were diminished by unrotated crops were
offered the virgin soil of the frontier at nominal prices. Their growing families demanded more lands,
and these were dear. The competition of the unexhausted, cheap, and easily tilled prairie lands
compelled the farmer either to go west and continue the exhaustion of the soil on a new frontier, or to
adopt intensive culture.
Thus the census of 1890 shows, in the Northwest, many counties in which there is an absolute or a
relative decrease of population. These States have been sending farmers to advance the frontier on the
Plains, and have themselves begun to turn to intensive farming and to manufacture. A decade before
this, Ohio had shown the same transition stage. Thus the demand for land and the love of wilderness
freedom drew the frontier ever onward.
Having now roughly outlined the various kinds of frontiers and their modes of advance, chiefly from
the point of view of the frontier itself, we may next inquire what were the influences on the East and
on the Old World. A rapid enumeration of some of the more noteworthy effects is all that I have time
for.
First, we note that the frontier promoted the formation of a composite nationality for the American
people. The coast was preponderantly English, but the later tides of continental immigration

The NFL is investigating whether the New England Patriots intentionally deflated footballs during
their victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Sunday s rain soaked AFC Championship Game.
A league spokesman confirmed the investigation, which was first reported Sunday by television
station WTHR in Indianapolis, to ESPN on Monday morning.
More from ESPN.com
Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Monday afternoon that the organization will cooperate fully with
whatever questions they ask us and whatever they want us to do. He added that the first time he heard
about the issue was Monday morning.

NFL rules stipulate that footballs must be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch and
weigh between 14 and 15 ounces.
Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos, in an interview with ESPN on Monday morning, explained the
process in which footballs are managed. Two hours and 15 minutes before each game, officials inspect
12 footballs from each team and put a mark on them to indicate they meet the proper requirements and
are good for usage. Then those footballs are given to the ball attendant.
There also is a second set of six footballs, used specifically for the kicking game, that are marked
appropriately and remain in the possession of officials at all times.
Officials check balls as they go into the game, and if the ball doesn t feel perfect, they can throw it out,
Daopoulos said. There is always the possibility that balls can lose air due to the conditions.
A team can be fined if it is found to be knowingly altering the weight of the football.
The NFL s game operations manual states: Once the balls have left the locker room, no one, including
players, equipment managers, ball boys, and coaches, is allowed to alter the footballs in any way. If
any individual alters the footballs, or if a non approved ball is used in the game, the person responsible
and, if appropriate, the head coach or other club personnel will be subject to discipline, including but
not limited to, a fine of $25,000.

Nba Club Case Study
As shown in Table 6, 67.7% of informational tweets contained hashtags and 69.4% of promotional
tweets contained hyperlinks. In order to manage the professional relationship with the public, NBA
clubs were more likely to apply hashtags to their informational tweets and hyperlinks to their
promotional tweets. As specific hashtags could be easily searched on Twitter and noticed by followers,
they might be a useful tool for releasing information. Many NBA clubs sold tickets and derivative
products online; therefore, they tended to direct their followers to their online stores using hyperlinks.
In order to build personal relationships with their followers, the sample clubs utilized public messages
(82.8%) more than other communication tools because they had to use the @ symbols to reach other
Twitter users and to participate in conversations. Also, 48.6% of interactive tweets were actually
retweets. Clubs could share the lives and feelings of their followers by retweeting their tweets, ...

could reflect that fanship might be a significant factor which motivated followers of NBA clubs to
retweet and favorite. Promotional behaviors of clubs on Twitter was relatively less attractive among
their followers, receiving fewer retweets and favorites. In addition, entertainment tweets also received
many retweets (M = 105.8) and favorites (M = 96.4). One possible explanation was that sports fans
had a higher level of entertainment need, which could be satisfied through retweeting and favoriting

What Is A Strict Role Of Diversity In The Elizabethan Era
Karissa Head
Mrs. LaPalme
English Composition
04 December 2015
The Bard In the time of the Elizabethan Era there was a strict role of diversity. People were judged by
fame, wealth, skills, and birth; then placed in social groups based on how they were judged. In this era
many people did not rise above what they were born into, but for William Shakespeare he made
becoming famous in the late 1500 s look easy. Still to this day he is talked about, even though
somethings about his personal life are uncertain. Records record that, William was born in Stratford
upon Avon, England. His father suffered with financial debts, so William was not able to attend
university. Instead, he attended the local grammar school, the King s New School. Where he ... Show

Love is not love (1 2). This is stating that in a marriage honesty is the key, and William does not want
to know different; if it is. A couple that admits their wrong doings, is a couple that is in love. Love can
be harsh, William implies this by saying, Love is not love (2). Not saying there is not such feeling of
love, but that true love hurts the most. True love never changes or disappears, the love never fades if
one was to walk away. Love is never shaken by reality. It is forever, everlasting even in struggles the
love in the relationship shines through. Both members of the loving relationship work as a team. They
guide each other with words if they wander of tract. All these wonderful facts can be found in lines
two through five. Shakespeare says there is not value of love, but attitude can be measured. Love is
not eternal, as to lust is timed. He says, Whose worth is unknown, although his height be taken. Love s
not time s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks (8 9). Time is nothing to love, but through time rosy lips
and cheeks (9) love is destroyed. True love is not measured by hours and weeks (10). It bears (11) the

Baseball Of The Baseball Rule
INTRODUCTION
Baseball ballpark owners owe a duty of care to spectators who attend games their stadiums.
Historically, there has been a devotion to the baseball rule , which is essentially a tool of public policy
used to protect stadium owners. However, there is very little consensus on what exactly the rule entails
and how it is applied across all jurisdictions. While this rule is justified based on a limited amount of
data, Gallatin legislature should either reshape it to better reflect modern tort doctrine or continue
operating on a case by case basis, taking all facts and situation based evidence into account.
BASEBALL RULE
The Baseball Rule has been widely adopted by courts in jurisdiction considering the legal duty of
landowners owed to spectators at baseball games. The Baseball Rule has two main components: the
owner must screen the most dangerous section of the field (typically the area behind the Homeplate)
and the screening provided must be adequate to provide covering for as many spectators who desire
protected seats. Spectators that willingly choose to watch the game in unscreened areas assume the
open and obvious risk of being struck by a ball. With the Baseball Rule clearly limiting the landowner
s legal duty, ballpark owners avoid potential lawsuits for every ball that strikes a spectator.
Without the Baseball Rule, under general principles of landowner liability for negligence, spectator
injuries are considered on a case by case basis upon criteria

An APT or Advanced persistent threat is a group of people who are highly motivated (financially,
politically or economically) working together, well skilled, and patient. They have advanced technical
tool which is not available to other attackers. They use vulnerabilities revealed by the APT or APT
sponsor that is not disclosed to anyone else hence it s very difficult to defend them. They re chronic
and consciousness on exploiting one or more unique objectives instead of just any target of
opportunity. APT use social engineering as a tool to get more details of those specific targets. APTs are
either funded by Governments or adversaries as they need a lot of resources to go after any target.
APTs are well organized as they could move after the easy objectives and avoid the comfortable
networks. It goes after particular goals primarily based on what it desires to take advantage of from
the ones targets. An APT might be willing to make investments months or years of time toward
infiltrating and Compromising a desired goal. APTs might be military units, different government

Comparing To His Coy Mistress And The Passionate Shepherd...
Although Marvell s To His Coy Mistress was written some time after The Passionate Shepherd to His
Love , both contain many similarities. Most evident is that both are carpe diem poems that exhort the
reader. One similarity between the two poems is the theme of exaggeration to convince the beloved.
The hyperbole in Marlowe s poem being And a thousand fragrant posies and But thirty thousand to the
rest in Marvell s. Both of these lines illogically exaggerate amounts to show how much the beloved
means to the reader in an attempt to convince them to act. Marvell s approach in exhorting is to
convince the beloved that time and eventually death is inevitable. The speaker s statement, But at my
back I always hear, Time s winged chariot hurrying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To me the chariot provides a visual for the rate of time. When we think of time it can be difficult to
gauge how quickly it passes, but you can easily imagine walking down a road and having a car, or
chariot, speeding by. The notion that the chariot is coming up from behind the speaker lends a
negative view in my opinion, because the visual that comes to mind is the speaker being chased down
by the chariot, or time. Another visualization that Marvell uses is iron gates of life . What really struck
me about this statement was that it is usually said as iron gates of death . In Marvell s use however, it
is as though life were trapping the person and they must break through the iron gates by living in the
moment to actually be able to have a life. The last two lines of the poem are a very strong image
showing how time and seizing the moment are related. The lines state, Thus, though we cannot make
our sun, Stand still, yet we will make him run. Time is represented as the sun, because if the sun never
sets then time would stop. Therefore this image of the sun running means that time can not be stopped,
but you can seize the day and be in control of its

The Invention Of Skateboard In The 1940 s
Around the time of the 1940 s was when the first ever skateboard was made. In the early 1940 s and
1950 s many surfers in California wanted something to do when the waves were flat which mean, they
weren t able to surf. The people who supposedly came up with the idea were a few surfers who wanted
to be able to do something similar as they did in the water. Skateboarding history still has a mysterious
origin. No one to this day knows who actually invented the skate board. Several people have claimed
to have made the skateboard but nothing has been proven. In 1965 skate boarding s popularity began
to reach its s top. First skateboarders started with wooden boxes or boards with roller skate wheels
attached to the bottom. Skateboards first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some skateboarders also own longboards, and love longboarding just as much as skateboarding. Some
skaters even believe that longboarding is the best way to earn how to ride. This makes sense to me
because longboards are usually more stable and secure because of their length. And not only can they
be used for enjoyment, but they also help you save gas when you commute. An old school skateboard
is extremely different from the skateboards of today. Old school skateboards normally are talking
about skateboards that were popular in the past and are not really used today. They are sometimes
known as classic skateboards. The term Old school skateboards is usually used to talk about any
skateboard that goes back to the 1980 s. No matter what skateboards have been around sense the 1930

The Amendment Of The Rights Of Those Accused Of A Crime
The three amendments that are used to protect the rights of those accused of a crime include, the
Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment. The Fourth Amendment in the Constitution, contains protection
against unreasonable searches and seizures and protects people s homes, property, and effects (as cited
in Peak, 2015, p. 180). The Fifth Amendment in the Constitution, among other protections, guards
against self incrimination and double jeopardy (as cited in Peak, 2015, p. 180). The Sixth Amendment
in the Bill of Rights, guarantees the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury, the right to
effective counsel at trial and other protections (as cited in Peak, 2015, p. 180). These three
Amendments, in summary mean that any person who is accused of a crime is innocent until proven
guilty, and their rights are just as important as anyone else. They have the natural born right to have
their rights as citizens protected under the law, and ensure fair treatment from law enforcement
officers.
In 1993, the Supreme Court ruled a decision on the court case, Minnesota v. Dickerson. This court
case followed the court ruling in 1968, which was the original stop and frisk case, Terry v. Ohio. In
Terry v. Ohio, The Supreme Court of the United States held that it is a reasonable search when an
officer performs a quick seizure and a limited search for weapons on a person that the officer

Human Behaviour In Macbeth
Shakespeare has written many plays that are still popular in the English language and literature.
Macbeth is one of Shakespeare greatest tragedies, a drama of crime and punishment. The play depicts
strong human behaviour. In this essay, I will discuss who had the greatest impact on King Duncan
death.
Macbeth was thought to be written for the sole purpose of entraining the King of England, during
Shakespearean time. As James I King of England was fascinated by witchcraft and the belief of black
magic was popular during that era.
Initially, Shakespeare creates a ghastly atmosphere by introducing the three witches. The three witches
are characters answering to the fates of the mythology. They are first introduced by the famous quote
fair is foul, and foul is fair , this enigmatic line contains an oxymoron .As this paradox explains the
discrepancy between appearance and reality. It also, signifies that there is no significance between
good or bad as their roles can be reversed. This is one of the crucial structural components in the
writing of this play and it s clear that Shakespeare wants us to see this. ... Show more content on

the meeting is slaughter the Macduff family. However, no matter how great the witches influence was,

The On The Family System Of Cybernetics And The Influence...
Introduction The objective of this paper is to discuss by comparing and contrasting the understandings
in the family system of cybernetics and the influence of feedback that loops both positive and negative
which occur during therapy. Such influence allows for members of a family to function in a set pattern
and maintaining said pattern as a priority. In this class, we have learned how leaders in our field
cultivated this information and produced systemic, process oriented theories such as Cognitive
Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy. These two theories offer prescribed ways for
us as therapist to help a family or client move from a place of dysfunctionality to a place of
functionality with the emphasis placed on system or process issues and not the individual or

The Intolerable Acts were just as bad as they sound: a combination of multiple acts also called the
Coercive Acts which is a pretty generous euphemism considering the Acts were harsh. A few of these
acts included: The Quartering Act allowed soldiers to enter a family s house without means, which
made people feel deprived of certain rights they felt they deserved (Pavao). The Massachusetts Act
does not seem awful on the surface, but the intention of the act was to limit the people of
Massachusetts independence. The King shut down ports in the Boston Port Act, which makes sense
considering the amount of tea wasted in the Boston Tea Party. The Quebec Act limited the colonists
attempts to western expansion by expanding French land ( Quebec ). The Administration of Justice
Act was basically the Murder Act, were any British officer involved in a crime would hold trial in
Britain, where they were practically allowed to get away with anything. This angered the colonists
because British officers could get away with murder (Pavao). The Administration of Justice Act was
particularly despicable because it is the equivalent to giving a modern day vigilante full immunity and

According to the Department of Commerce, the following are some of the major reasons why
companies decide to franchise (Selig, 1998)
Franchising provides an effective method for raising capital to finance expansion.
Franchising enables the franchiser to pool resources, advertise and promote, achieve economies of
scale in purchases, expand internationally and develop new products and services.
Franchising provides the franchiser quality control, consistency, and uniformity over goods and

In The Scottsboro Trial
The American judicial system is designed to have equal and fair trials. The 14th amendment abides
with that and has made it so everyone receives just trials. Today s society and judicial system have

Social Norms And Violatio Folktales
As society we have never given much thought as to how we function to how society . This statement
is not only true on a macro level, such as how our government functions along with other aspects of
society but also as individuals. Furthermore, we as individuals rarely stop to think about the reasons
we have to react the way we do in certain situations. It can be almost guaranteed that we react in these
ways because of norms. Norms can be defined as expectations of right behavior (Henslin 2015).
Norms such as these can be shaped by society, government or culture. These norms can also bring
along norm violations such as folkways, mores and sanctions. However very few times do we

The reason we think of a folkway is because we expect to see the idea of life course taking place or as

think of a young adult around the age of 23 we think of someone who may be easily embarrassed or
very aware of what the public might think or say. We may also think of this norm violation as a
sanction or someone s expression of approval for upholding a norm or expressions of disapproval for

Furthermore, those who just laughed might have done it being mean or because they just take life

Are The Similarities Between Myrtle Wilson And Daisy Buchanan
Comparing and contrasting of Myrtle Wilson and Daisy Buchanan Daisy Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson
both have similar positions and have both had impacts on the entirety of The Great Gatsby. Many
would say that both are basically one and the same, and that one just goes about their situations
differently than the other. Both have unchanging themes of wealth; However, that can also be said
about most characters in the book. Daisy and Myrtle could actually not be more different from one
another. This includes their personality and values in life. Daisy s behavior and actions are vastly
different from Myrtle s. Her personality is shown to be charming, and careless. She is described to
have a voice that Gatsby describes to be, full of money (120). This is likely what ... Show more

Myrtle values the wealthy lifestyle greatly. She would even go so far as to create a facade of what she
believes those of high societal class would act like in order to achieve that, and ironically, mocks the
poor in the process. In Chapter 2 she exclaims toward Nick, I told that boy about the ice...you have to
keep after them all the time (32). here it is proven that Myrtle believes in order to give everyone the
impression that she is high class, she must act in a snobbish manner. Whereas Daisy who was born
into wealth, values convenience majorly over the latter. Some may disagree and say that she values
love, and it is true that she does search for love; However, this is contradicted when at the end of the
day she stays with Tom Buchanan rather than Gatsby, as is shown in the last scene with them together,
Daisy and Tom were sitting opposite of each other at the kitchen table with a plate of cold fried
chicken between them, and two bottles of ale (145). She stays with Tom only for her own societal
convenience, and she is willing to follow through with it even though he is a generally abusive

Elements Of Roman And Greek Architecture
Roman and Greek architecture are very prominent examples of early historic architectural
advancements. These cultures left imprints on society, founding future forms of art and architecture
through their inspirational elements are artists. These long lasting cultural elements have created
echoes as deep into the future as now, the 21st century. Looking at the Southern Methodist Church in
downtown Austin, we see a variety of Greek and Roman architectural elements. The Southern
Methodist Church has a variety of classical elements that attribute it to past temples and structures
created by the Roman and Greek cultures, appropriated to fit into the religion of the church by the
manipulation of certain parts, such as the frieze. To begin, the first and foremost part of the discussion
is the elements of Greek and Roman architecture that have been incorporated and appropriated for the
building of this church. The first and foremost noticeable feature would be the columns, architrave,
and pediment. The columns are classic ionic columns, starting from the ornate base and leading up to
the capital, all the elements of the classical ionic columns are present, creating an almost life like
appearance to the columns as they grow and support the architrave, a characteristic that can be traced
back to Egyptian columns in temples and funerary buildings. Further, the shaft of the column follows
the Greek style of creation. The divides are evidence that each piece of the columns were

Descriptive Essay On Elmwood Park
Elmwood Park is a village in Cook County, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and it was
established in 1914. The community has a population of 24,883 according to the 2010 census, and has
maintained a large Italian American population. I explored this village in early September, and stayed
for a few hours visiting the downtown area and some small neighborhoods. Downtown Elmwood Park
consisted of many restaurants, majority of them were Italian cuisine and Italian pizzerias. I saw a lot
of people outside as it was a nice warm day, there was a park that was filled with young children and
some elders, there was also some other adults walking/running with their dogs. About eighty percent
of the people there were Caucasian or at least it appeared to be that they were Caucasian. There was
about eight restaurants in just one block, and about six barber shops as well, and three grocery stores.
The village looked like it was heavily influenced with Italian culture and it almost felt like I stepped
into a typically Italian American neighborhood movie set. There was one bakery in particular that I
stepped into and also purchased bread from that filled up the block with it s smell which was pleasant
and was what appealed to me in the first place. The bakery had English and Italian text in the business
s posters and signs, a grocery stores also had the bilingual posters and as well as the restaurant next to
it. There was many Catholic parishes, all of which had religious symbols

The City Of Orlando Is Split It Up Into 9 Districts
The City of Orlando is split it up into 9 districts. Indeed, each district has its own personality and
offers different events throughout the year. The manager of each district is in charge of these activities
and their primary goal is to always drive customers and tourists into their districts. For example, the
Small Business Saturday is an event that is held, each year, the day after Black Friday and the main
goal of each district is to get business to their stores and to celebrate with the community. For these
small businesses, this time of the year is extremely important and many of them rely on the holiday
season to accomplish their annual sales. (Orlando Sentinel, 2015).
This year is not different, the Mills50 district is going to hold the Small Business Saturday and it
needs a little bit of help to stand out of the rest. Audubon Park is one of the Orlando Districts and an
indirect competitor of Mills 50. This park has done similar activities in the past and last year for the
Small Business Saturday event they did a raffle for cash. The event was successful in getting business
to the local stores and this year they are planning on following along with the Ivanhoe District in their
annual Sip and Stroll. According to Fresh Market (2016), the event is scheduled to take place on
November 26th. The Audubon Park district is committed to create a sustainable local economy and
they want to put the area on the path to becoming an Orlando EcoDistrict. (Audubon Park, 2016).

Comparing and Contrasting the Theme of power and control between Porphyrias Lover, La Belle

Robert Browning, Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning and La Belle Dame Sans Merci by John
Keats. I am going to be exploring the theme of power and control in each of the poems and how the
poets show it.
In Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess it appears that the men have the power whereas in La Belle
Dame Sans Merci the woman has the power. In Porphyrias Lover the only way the man feels he has
power over Porphyria is by killing her. So by feeling that this is his only alternative, she has power

The Duke is going on and on and we only have one point of view. He is controlling what the audience
perceive the characters as. Browning uses enjambment to make the rhyming couplets flow better in
order to make the speech of the Duke more realistic. The easiness of the speech and the fact that it is
flowing, shows that the Duke seems to have rehearsed everything that he is now saying to the agent.
So he has had to think about what to say and wants to be able to manipulate the agent into taking his
side and, indeed, wants to have control over the agent s opinion of both him and his last Duchess. The
duke s loss of control is also depicted through the rhythm of the poem. The enjambment in the poem
reveals that the Duke is almost at ease with his wife s murder, because it is so flowing and he doesn t
get upset and almost doesn t have to stop. Except for once; this is shown by the use of caesura,
however as he only stutters once it seems as if he is just doing it for show. Near the end of the poem,
the duke loses control. You can imagine the horrified agent rising to go and the duke s uneasiness as
he loses control, and his desire to regain control of the situation as he says, Nay we ll go down
together, sir There is a caesura between Nay and we ll which shows the Duke does not want to lose
control but then has to pause as he thinks of a reasonable explanation for him saying Nay to the agent
leaving without him.

Online Casino Portal Crown Contender
Blog 16 Thrills casino emerges as an online casino portal crown contender We have all seen the
advertising campaigns for new casinos, as everyone seems to claim to be funky, fresh, and
revolutionary . Sadly, all these claims are usually pretty hollow in most cases. Freshman online
casinos seldom deliver on what they promise, with many just leaving players feeling deflated.
However, while most new online casinos are underwhelming, Thrills has now looked to buck that
trend. Its name says it all, in the same vain as Guts, Thrills is an online casino that packs in plenty of
adrenaline fuelled action. It seems as time passes more and more players seem to be jumping aboard
this up and coming name, but can Thrills now realistically be considered a contender for the online
casino portal crown?
Thrills make no bones about what they are, as they proudly promote how dedicated they are to
delivering intense gaming action. How they live up to such claim is that they work with NetEnt, one
of the biggest online casino game developers on the planet. What this means is that the software
options at Thrills run smoothly and gives this online casino some serious backbone. No matter
whether you play through smartphone, tablet, or desktop, you are guaranteed a free flowing casino
experience at Thrills due to the backing on NetEnt.
Looking at exactly what games Thrills provide, it really is the cream of the crop when it comes to
titles. As mentioned above, Thrills is an online casino

Essay on The Issue of LGBT Hate Crimes
Hate Crimes: crimes motivated by a victim s actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender
identity, disability or religion(Federal officials, 2011). Hate crimes have been around for centuries. A
hate crime is considered any malicious crime that is derived from hatred towards a certain group of
people. African Americans are still victim to hate crimes, even after the Civil Rights movement. James
Byrd Jr. suffered a prime example of a gruesome hate crime in 1998, because of his African American
descent. Three white men, allegedly, chained Byrd to the back of a pickup truck and dragged him
down a gravel road, leaving his body parts severed and bloody (Marty,1998). Recently, a new group of

The perpetrators of these gruesome crimes need to be tried for the maximum penalty.
Aragones said a hate crime is any offense motivated by bias, prejudice, or hate based on sex, sexual
orientation, or any other similar factor, including damaging the honor or the reputation of the victim,
or a group of persons to which the victim belongs, on account of their actual or supposed sexual
identity. Under the Revised Penal Code, a person who commits a Crime Against Persons or Against
Chastity against a member of the LGBT community shall suffer the maximum penalty imposed by the
law if it is proven that the act complained of is in the nature of a hate crime. (Solon wants, 2013)
Many times these crimes are just pushed over like petty assault charges and the victims are given
nothing. Often times the charges of a crime produced by hate, the sentence isn t even doubled(Lewin,
A. 2014).
Victims need to be compensated for the damages inflicted. The victims of these crimes are targeted for
a reason they cannot control. They are left without a paddle surrounded by sharks, and after the fact
they are left with even less. The government should exert efforts at addressing violence committed

The age at which a woman starts having menstrual periods is not related to the age of menopause
onset.
When does a woman know she is in menopause?
In order to be menopausal, a woman must have had no menstrual periods (menses) for 12 months and
have no other medical reason for her menses to stop. Therefore, a woman cannot know she is
menopausal unless she has not had a menstrual period for 12 months.
Are hormone levels or other blood tests helpful in detecting menopause?
Because hormone levels may fluctuate greatly in an individual woman, even from one day to the next,
hormone levels are not a reliable indicator for diagnosing menopause.
Even if levels are low one day, they may be high the next day in the same woman.
Although hormone levels of several blood tests are available, there is no particular single blood test
yet that reliably allows a doctor to predict when a women is going to go through menopause in the
future, or if she is experiencing the beginning of the menopausal transition. At present, there is no
proven role for blood testing regarding menopause except for tests to exclude medical causes of erratic
menstrual periods other than menopause. The only way to diagnose menopause is to observe lack of
menstrual periods for 12 months in a woman in the expected age range.
*What are the symptoms of menopause?
The symptoms of menopause can be divided into early and late onset symptoms.

Motor Vehicle Accidents And Economic Stress
Motor Vehicle Accidents and Economic Stress In today s society, motor vehicle accidents can cause
serious economic stress on the average U.S. citizen. In America today, the average legal driving age
can start out at the age of eighteen. Unless those new drivers have had plenty of time behind the
wheel, they are subject to a higher risk of a motor vehicle accident that could result in economic
stress. Economic stress can come in all varieties. It can range from an influx in vehicle insurance
premiums and medical bills to the physiological stress of losing a vehicle in a multi vehicle

of America, an influx in insurance premiums and payments can seriously hit the pocket. Motor vehicle

The Radical Groups Of Thinkers
Throughout the recent centuries, biologists, psychologist, and sociologists have been franticly
researching a single question, which if solved, can help us decode our every behavior and decision.
Why exactly are we the people we are today? This question has sparked many passionate debates, one
of them being; Nature (Genetics, biological traits,) versus Nurture (Environmental effects, learning
behavior). There are two radical groups of thinkers in which strictly oppose each other, Nativists and
Empiricist and with a common interest in mind, their perspective of how a being develops
behaviorally and cognitively differ drastically with very few to none similarities. This theory provides

On the other hand, we have not the slightest proof that behavioral traits are passed down through
genetics, which leads us to believe that our next best answer would consist of environmental stimuli
influencing our development of the mind. An example of an environmental stimuli would be social
interaction, in which we all show signs of change from our fetal stages to the day we die. During this
time span of time we form our own unique individuality and behavior. There are many different
perspectives of psychology in which psychologists try to explain the reasoning behind humanistic
behavior and thinking. There are two extremist groups of psychologists that strictly oppose each other
when it comes to the Nature vs. Nurture theory. Nativists, psychologists who adopt strong hereditary
reasoning or Nature theory, believe humans are a product of evolution and our inner and external traits
as well as our behavior are due to our very complex genetic form. The Nativists believe our
individuality is a result of the mixed genetic code, which we get from both of our parents. This code is
solely different from any other being in the world. Nativists strongly believe every reaction we have
and behavior we exhibit is part of our genetic code, which still remains a mystery today. These
thoughts are so radical that after decades of research and experimentation, it is still strongly believed
that our genetic code is the proper

However, last year we enjoyed improvements in our supply chain by shipping more freight from Asia

The Role Of Music In Ancient Civilizations
Regardless of where they are located, almost all ancient civilizations share basic features. For
example, most civilizations develop things such as a class system, a common religion, or a system of
writing. Another mark of a successful civilization is the evolution of music. Since music is not
essential to survival, its development is usually within a large established society. The purpose of
music varies from civilization to civilization, era to era. In some cultures, music accompanied
religious rituals, as one sees in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. In others, such as Ancient Greece,
music was a part of education and entertainment. Music also played a very important role in keeping
legends and records of history alive through oral tradition. The way it was produced ranged from
monophonic vocalizations in its earliest history to complex instruments and systems later in time. Any
way it was produced, the role music played was one of the most important in ancient societies.
The earliest sign of music was discovered in architectural sites of Mesopotamia. Some of the main
evidence that music was an important part of Ancient Mesopotamian society was writing about it
found on ancient stone tablets. So far, ten tablets with writings concerning musical scales have been
found in sites around Ur and other ancient cities such as Nippur. They contain information about the
musical scales used in Ancient Mesopotamian music, revealing that there were seven different and
interrelated scales

Themes Of Just Mercy And All American Boys
Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson and All American Boys by Jason Reynolds are connected, not only by
their similar story lines but by the theme and moral lessons each book puts forward. Just Mercy, A
Story Of Justice And Redemption, is written from the viewpoint of Mr. Stevenson as he goes through
many people s cases trying to give them the justice they deserve. All American Boys is the story of a

The first connection between the two novels is the moral lessons they try to teach the reader. There are

seriously by embodying it in her everyday actions. Living for each other involves millions of small

She speaks passionately about it and when members complain about ritual, Rachel explains that it is a
privilege to do something that has bound the women before us together for more than one hundred and
fifty years. This past summer Rachel was chosen by our chapter to go to Leadership Seminar due to
this passion for ritual. She came back and taught us all what she learned, she went phrase by phrase
through our ritual and explained the importance. This year has been a struggle to get women to follow
the correct steps in our rituals because they want to get everything done as quickly as possible even if
some things are done wrong. Ultimately, they view our ritual as an obligation. Ritual is a privilege not
a right; it is something that we all get to do. Rachel has said that to the chapter time and time again.
One specific instance when I have seen her face adversity because she was holding on to her values is
when one of the officers refused to set up the correct ritual paraphernalia. Rachel did not continue on
with the ceremony, she knew what was missing and even though other members voiced their
opposition to waiting for the right paraphernalia to be set up, Rachel continued to wait. And when that
officer still refused to set up the correct paraphernalia, Rachel began setting it up herself, and soon
enough the others began to help her. I realized at that point that Rachel was making sure that the ties
that bind each and every member of our organization are just as strong and true in our chapter. Rachel
wants each member to understand the value of ritual and by holding her ground; she has begun a
change in our

A Late Summer Night For An Alaskan Vacation
It s a late summer night in Florida, but Kate, age twenty seven, needs resort wear for an Alaskan
vacation. Six years ago, in 2010, she would have waited for tomorrow afternoon and headed straight
for the local mall. However, today she starts shopping from her bedroom by launching an online chat
with her personal stylist Haley, from Trunk Club. The stylist recommends several items,
superimposing photos of them onto Kate s avatar. Kate rejects a few of the items that her stylist
suggests, but quickly switches to another browser tab to research the customer reviews and prices
elsewhere. After a minute or two, Kate finds better deals on a couple of the items at another retailer,
and orders them. She buys one item from Trunk Club online and then schedules a time for tomorrow
to drive to the Trunk Club lounge nearest her, for the in stock items she wants to try on. This scenario
is fictional, but it s neither as fanciful nor as futuristic as some may think. All the technology Kate
used is already accessible to the public and within a matter of years, much of it will be ubiquitous.
With an abundance of quick information, near perfect price transparency, and the convenience of
twenty four hour availability, online shopping seems to be a dream for many consumers. However, it s
feeling more like a nightmare for many conventional retailers, those worried about security, and some
tree huggers .For centuries, people have marked in their minds and written on their to do lists to make

  • 2. The Significance of the Frontier in American History How does Turner explain the recurring need for communication and transportation along the American frontier? What Turner wants to point out here is that the American West is the most important feature of American history, and of the development of its society. He refers several times to a process of Americanization and we will see that the definition he gives of it is a very peculiar one. He gives a definition of the frontier: it lies at the hither edge of free land , meaning that he considers the Indian territory to be free land. According to him the frontier is the meeting point between savagery and civilization , the most rapid and effective Americanization . The process of Americanization he refers to is in fact a double ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Year by year the farmers who lived on soil, whose returns were diminished by unrotated crops were offered the virgin soil of the frontier at nominal prices. Their growing families demanded more lands, and these were dear. The competition of the unexhausted, cheap, and easily tilled prairie lands compelled the farmer either to go west and continue the exhaustion of the soil on a new frontier, or to adopt intensive culture. Thus the census of 1890 shows, in the Northwest, many counties in which there is an absolute or a relative decrease of population. These States have been sending farmers to advance the frontier on the Plains, and have themselves begun to turn to intensive farming and to manufacture. A decade before this, Ohio had shown the same transition stage. Thus the demand for land and the love of wilderness freedom drew the frontier ever onward. Having now roughly outlined the various kinds of frontiers and their modes of advance, chiefly from the point of view of the frontier itself, we may next inquire what were the influences on the East and on the Old World. A rapid enumeration of some of the more noteworthy effects is all that I have time for. First, we note that the frontier promoted the formation of a composite nationality for the American people. The coast was preponderantly English, but the later tides of continental immigration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nfl Playoffs The NFL is investigating whether the New England Patriots intentionally deflated footballs during their victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Sunday s rain soaked AFC Championship Game. A league spokesman confirmed the investigation, which was first reported Sunday by television station WTHR in Indianapolis, to ESPN on Monday morning. More from ESPN.com Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Monday afternoon that the organization will cooperate fully with whatever questions they ask us and whatever they want us to do. NFL rules stipulate that footballs must be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces. Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos, in an interview with ESPN on Monday morning, explained the process in which footballs are managed. Two hours and 15 minutes before each game, officials inspect 12 footballs from each team and put a mark on them to indicate they meet the proper requirements and are good for usage. Then those footballs are given to the ball attendant. There also is a second set of six footballs, used specifically for the kicking game, that are marked appropriately and remain in the possession of officials at all times. Officials check balls as they go into the game, and if the ball doesn t feel perfect, they can throw it out, Daopoulos said. There is always the possibility that balls can lose air due to the conditions. A team can be fined if it is found to be knowingly altering the weight of the football. The NFL s game operations manual states: Once the balls have left the locker room, no one, including players, equipment managers, ball boys, and coaches, is allowed to alter the footballs in any way. If any individual alters the footballs, or if a non approved ball is used in the game, the person responsible and, if appropriate, the head coach or other club personnel will be subject to discipline, including but not limited to, a fine of $25,000. • 4. Nba Club Case Study As shown in Table 6, 67.7% of informational tweets contained hashtags and 69.4% of promotional tweets contained hyperlinks. In order to manage the professional relationship with the public, NBA clubs were more likely to apply hashtags to their informational tweets and hyperlinks to their promotional tweets. As specific hashtags could be easily searched on Twitter and noticed by followers, they might be a useful tool for releasing information. Many NBA clubs sold tickets and derivative products online; therefore, they tended to direct their followers to their online stores using hyperlinks. In order to build personal relationships with their followers, the sample clubs utilized public messages (82.8%) more than other communication tools because they had to use the @ symbols to reach other Twitter users and to participate in conversations. Also, 48.6% of interactive tweets were actually retweets. Clubs could share the lives and feelings of their followers by retweeting their tweets, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On average, fanship tweets received the most retweets (M = 111.4) and favorites (M = 122.2), while promotion tweets received the fewest retweets (M=19.9) and favorites (M = 18.9). It could reflect that fanship might be a significant factor which motivated followers of NBA clubs to retweet and favorite. Promotional behaviors of clubs on Twitter was relatively less attractive among their followers, receiving fewer retweets and favorites. What Is A Strict Role Of Diversity In The Elizabethan Era Karissa Head Mrs. LaPalme English Composition 04 December 2015 The Bard In the time of the Elizabethan Era there was a strict role of diversity. People were judged by fame, wealth, skills, and birth; then placed in social groups based on how they were judged. In this era many people did not rise above what they were born into, but for William Shakespeare he made becoming famous in the late 1500 s look easy. Still to this day he is talked about, even though somethings about his personal life are uncertain. Records record that, William was born in Stratford upon Avon, England. A couple that admits their wrong doings, is a couple that is in love. Love can be harsh, William implies this by saying, Love is not love (2). Not saying there is not such feeling of love, but that true love hurts the most. True love never changes or disappears, the love never fades if one was to walk away. Love is never shaken by reality. It is forever, everlasting even in struggles the love in the relationship shines through. Both members of the loving relationship work as a team. They guide each other with words if they wander of tract. All these wonderful facts can be found in lines two through five. Shakespeare says there is not value of love, but attitude can be measured. Love is not eternal, as to lust is timed. He says, Whose worth is unknown, although his height be taken. Love s not time s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks (8 9). • 6. Baseball Of The Baseball Rule INTRODUCTION Baseball ballpark owners owe a duty of care to spectators who attend games their stadiums. Historically, there has been a devotion to the baseball rule , which is essentially a tool of public policy used to protect stadium owners. However, there is very little consensus on what exactly the rule entails and how it is applied across all jurisdictions. While this rule is justified based on a limited amount of data, Gallatin legislature should either reshape it to better reflect modern tort doctrine or continue operating on a case by case basis, taking all facts and situation based evidence into account. BASEBALL RULE The Baseball Rule has been widely adopted by courts in jurisdiction considering the legal duty of landowners owed to spectators at baseball games. The Baseball Rule has two main components: the owner must screen the most dangerous section of the field (typically the area behind the Homeplate) and the screening provided must be adequate to provide covering for as many spectators who desire protected seats. Spectators that willingly choose to watch the game in unscreened areas assume the open and obvious risk of being struck by a ball. With the Baseball Rule clearly limiting the landowner s legal duty, ballpark owners avoid potential lawsuits for every ball that strikes a spectator. Without the Baseball Rule, under general principles of landowner liability for negligence, spectator injuries are considered on a case by case basis upon criteria ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Comparing To His Coy Mistress And The Passionate Shepherd... Although Marvell s To His Coy Mistress was written some time after The Passionate Shepherd to His Love , both contain many similarities. Most evident is that both are carpe diem poems that exhort the reader. One similarity between the two poems is the theme of exaggeration to convince the beloved. The hyperbole in Marlowe s poem being And a thousand fragrant posies and But thirty thousand to the rest in Marvell s. Both of these lines illogically exaggerate amounts to show how much the beloved means to the reader in an attempt to convince them to act. Marvell s approach in exhorting is to convince the beloved that time and eventually death is inevitable. The speaker s statement, But at my back I always hear, Time s winged chariot hurrying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To me the chariot provides a visual for the rate of time. When we think of time it can be difficult to gauge how quickly it passes, but you can easily imagine walking down a road and having a car, or chariot, speeding by. The notion that the chariot is coming up from behind the speaker lends a negative view in my opinion, because the visual that comes to mind is the speaker being chased down by the chariot, or time. Another visualization that Marvell uses is iron gates of life . What really struck me about this statement was that it is usually said as iron gates of death . In Marvell s use however, it is as though life were trapping the person and they must break through the iron gates by living in the moment to actually be able to have a life. The last two lines of the poem are a very strong image showing how time and seizing the moment are related. The lines state, Thus, though we cannot make our sun, Stand still, yet we will make him run. Time is represented as the sun, because if the sun never sets then time would stop. Therefore this image of the sun running means that time can not be stopped, but you can seize the day and be in control of its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the early 1940 s and 1950 s many surfers in California wanted something to do when the waves were flat which mean, they weren t able to surf. The people who supposedly came up with the idea were a few surfers who wanted to be able to do something similar as they did in the water. Skateboarding history still has a mysterious origin. No one to this day knows who actually invented the skate board. Several people have claimed to have made the skateboard but nothing has been proven. Old school skateboards normally are talking about skateboards that were popular in the past and are not really used today. They are sometimes known as classic skateboards. The Fourth Amendment in the Constitution, contains protection against unreasonable searches and seizures and protects people s homes, property, and effects (as cited in Peak, 2015, p. 180). The Fifth Amendment in the Constitution, among other protections, guards against self incrimination and double jeopardy (as cited in Peak, 2015, p. 180). The Sixth Amendment in the Bill of Rights, guarantees the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury, the right to effective counsel at trial and other protections (as cited in Peak, 2015, p. 180). These three Amendments, in summary mean that any person who is accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty, and their rights are just as important as anyone else. They have the natural born right to have their rights as citizens protected under the law, and ensure fair treatment from law enforcement officers. • 11. Human Behaviour In Macbeth Shakespeare has written many plays that are still popular in the English language and literature. Macbeth is one of Shakespeare greatest tragedies, a drama of crime and punishment. The play depicts strong human behaviour. In this essay, I will discuss who had the greatest impact on King Duncan death. Macbeth was thought to be written for the sole purpose of entraining the King of England, during Shakespearean time. As James I King of England was fascinated by witchcraft and the belief of black magic was popular during that era. Initially, Shakespeare creates a ghastly atmosphere by introducing the three witches. The three witches are characters answering to the fates of the mythology. They are first introduced by the famous quote fair is foul, and foul is fair , this enigmatic line contains an oxymoron .As this paradox explains the discrepancy between appearance and reality. It also, signifies that there is no significance between good or bad as their roles can be reversed. This is one of the crucial structural components in the writing of this play and it s clear that Shakespeare wants us to see this. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such influence allows for members of a family to function in a set pattern and maintaining said pattern as a priority. In this class, we have learned how leaders in our field cultivated this information and produced systemic, process oriented theories such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy. These two theories offer prescribed ways for us as therapist to help a family or client move from a place of dysfunctionality to a place of functionality with the emphasis placed on system or process issues and not the individual or individuals. An example of this would be in the rules of sociological Method,Durkeim shows how crime is actually normal in society because without it, we would have no sense of what is morally acceptable. (Social theory rewired,2016)Even though Marx and Durkeim were eerily alike There was one part where they weren t alike. Marx always had his sails set for commotion and conflict while Durkheim would ask us to think of social solidarity and stability as something special to be explained, not as a default or taken for granted experience. (Social theory rewired,2016) Durkeim talked about how society is more than the sum of the individuals that comprise it; it includes social relationships, social patterns, and forms of social government. Motor Vehicle Accidents And Economic Stress Motor Vehicle Accidents and Economic Stress In today s society, motor vehicle accidents can cause serious economic stress on the average U.S. citizen. In America today, the average legal driving age can start out at the age of eighteen. Unless those new drivers have had plenty of time behind the wheel, they are subject to a higher risk of a motor vehicle accident that could result in economic stress. Economic stress can come in all varieties. It can range from an influx in vehicle insurance premiums and medical bills to the physiological stress of losing a vehicle in a multi vehicle homestead; as well as the stress that can come from ones career or workplace. With the economic state of America, an influx in insurance premiums and payments can seriously hit the pocket. Motor vehicle accidents are the leading causes of traumatic injuries worldwide (Diedericks 2). Motor vehicle accidents can cause traumatic stress, severe injury, and can even cause serious debt. • 32. Mathew V Eldridge By George Eldridge On account of Mathew v Eldridge, George Eldridge started the demonstration in District Court to challenge the protected legitimacy of the managerial systems instituting by the Secretary of Health Education and Welfare for instituting whether there exists a proceeding with sick wellbeing justifying a beneficiary to Social Security Disability (SSD) assistances. Subsequently Eldridge was advised that his assistances would end without a prospect for a previous hearing. Eldridge completed it, specifying that his situation had not gotten better. The office then acquired reports from his specialists, and made an unconfirmed decision that his disability had stopped. Eldridge was told of the proposed end, and prompted that he could ask for extra time to submit extra data with respect to his condition. Eldridge s transcribed reply questioned one portrayal of his condition, and showed that the office as of now had enough data to verify his disability. The made its last decision to end assistances and told Eldridge that he could look for reevaluation within about six months. Eldridge depended on Goldberg v. Kelly (welfare advantages case) to back his dispute that it was unlawful to end his SSD assistances without a pre termination hearing. The District Court held that Eldridge must be allowed a pre end hearing, asserted by the Court of Appeals. An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. • 33. The Radical Groups Of Thinkers Throughout the recent centuries, biologists, psychologist, and sociologists have been franticly researching a single question, which if solved, can help us decode our every behavior and decision. Why exactly are we the people we are today? This question has sparked many passionate debates, one of them being; Nature (Genetics, biological traits,) versus Nurture (Environmental effects, learning behavior). There are two radical groups of thinkers in which strictly oppose each other, Nativists and Empiricist and with a common interest in mind, their perspective of how a being develops behaviorally and cognitively differ drastically with very few to none similarities. This theory provides the most insight to the mystery that is ourselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, we have not the slightest proof that behavioral traits are passed down through genetics, which leads us to believe that our next best answer would consist of environmental stimuli influencing our development of the mind. An example of an environmental stimuli would be social interaction, in which we all show signs of change from our fetal stages to the day we die. During this time span of time we form our own unique individuality and behavior. There are many different perspectives of psychology in which psychologists try to explain the reasoning behind humanistic behavior and thinking. There are two extremist groups of psychologists that strictly oppose each other when it comes to the Nature vs. Nurture theory. Nativists, psychologists who adopt strong hereditary reasoning or Nature theory, believe humans are a product of evolution and our inner and external traits as well as our behavior are due to our very complex genetic form. The Nativists believe our individuality is a result of the mixed genetic code, which we get from both of our parents. This code is solely different from any other being in the world. Nativists strongly believe every reaction we have and behavior we exhibit is part of our genetic code, which still remains a mystery today. These thoughts are so radical that after decades of research and experimentation, it is still strongly believed that our genetic code is the proper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Americas, certain aspects of our business dictate that we ship notebooks from Asia to the United States. In the past, we relied primarily on air service. However, last year we enjoyed improvements in our supply chain by shipping more freight from Asia to the U.S. via ocean carriers. Furthermore, we have also implemented the use of rail transport from ocean terminals to Dell fulfillment centers within the United States. This process has also become a standard practice to deliver notebooks to customers in Latin America and EMEA. To provide world class logistics support for Dell and our customers, our logistics teams must also leverage the best transportation and logistics providers available in the industry. During the past year, we made changes to the relationships we had with some of our carrier partners, which again required significant adjustments to networks and processes, as well as great attention to detail. As volumes shifted from one carrier to another, we ensured that there were no disruptions in customer service (such as delays in delivery times or an increase in the number of incidents with missing, wrong or damaged products) that would have negatively affected our customers purchase and delivery experience. The reason I chose this webcast is because of my love for dogs, how extraordinary these guide dogs are from regular dogs, and also my curiosity on the history of these guide dogs and how they came to be. This webcast is about the history of guide dogs and how they were founded in America; Although, the speakers also cover a few more points. The first guide dog school opened in the United States was the All Seeing Eye; this school was opened in 1928 and is for both dogs and handlers. On behalf of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 there are strict guidelines that allow service dogs in almost all businesses in America. Both speakers in this webcast are members and ... Don ruined his credibility by using to many over exaggerated and bias personal experiences; for example, he complains about a personal experience where one man would not stop trying to talk to his guide dog. In Don s speech he started with the birth of guide dogs and their very first training and talked about this for the first five minutes; then transitioned to talking about the ADA s guidelines and sharing his negative bias on certain businesses such as airports. Don also did not share any history about guide dogs only information about the ADA and its guidelines with businesses. Don also tends to change his tone when he is talking about a particular situation that he is not fond of. Don has some strong points and is very knowledgeable about ADA policies, also Don is a handler and has been to schools with his guide dogs and received first hand experience and training just like Jane. Dons has many weak point showing too much bias, he never chose a topic to begin with, he uses too many personal experiences, and Don does not express a positive and mutual attitude throughout his entire speech. One small thing I did notice is that Don did not introduce his guide dog Wagner like Jane did. Overall Jane s portion of the webcast was much more informing and enjoyable than Don s ... • 36. The Role Of Music In Ancient Civilizations Regardless of where they are located, almost all ancient civilizations share basic features. For example, most civilizations develop things such as a class system, a common religion, or a system of writing. Another mark of a successful civilization is the evolution of music. Since music is not essential to survival, its development is usually within a large established society. The purpose of music varies from civilization to civilization, era to era. In some cultures, music accompanied religious rituals, as one sees in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. In others, such as Ancient Greece, music was a part of education and entertainment. Music also played a very important role in keeping legends and records of history alive through oral tradition. The way it was produced ranged from monophonic vocalizations in its earliest history to complex instruments and systems later in time. Any way it was produced, the role music played was one of the most important in ancient societies. The earliest sign of music was discovered in architectural sites of Mesopotamia. Some of the main evidence that music was an important part of Ancient Mesopotamian society was writing about it found on ancient stone tablets. So far, ten tablets with writings concerning musical scales have been found in sites around Ur and other ancient cities such as Nippur. They contain information about the musical scales used in Ancient Mesopotamian music, revealing that there were seven different and interrelated scales ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Themes Of Just Mercy And All American Boys Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson and All American Boys by Jason Reynolds are connected, not only by their similar story lines but by the theme and moral lessons each book puts forward. Just Mercy, A Story Of Justice And Redemption, is written from the viewpoint of Mr. Stevenson as he goes through many people s cases trying to give them the justice they deserve. All American Boys is the story of a young teenage boy who is beaten up by a cop because it is believed he is stealing a bag of chips. The first connection between the two novels is the moral lessons they try to teach the reader. There are many lessons to be learned from these books from don t assume things, to friends and family are extremely important. In Just mercy on page 40 Mr, Stevenson tells a story of him coming home late one night after a long day at work. He stepped on the sidewalk, circled behind my parked car, and came up behind me while the other officer continued to point the gun at me. He grabbed me by the arms and pushed me up against the back of my car. The officer then lowered his weapon. What are you doing out here? said the second officer, who seemed older than the one who had drawn his weapon. this quote reminds me of the beginning of All American boys where Rashad is explaining exactly what happened at Jerry s on Friday. Both of these events show how people are quick to assume things and take action before they find out what is really going on. The officers in Just Mercy don t believe Mr. ... She speaks passionately about it and when members complain about ritual, Rachel explains that it is a privilege to do something that has bound the women before us together for more than one hundred and fifty years. This past summer Rachel was chosen by our chapter to go to Leadership Seminar due to this passion for ritual. She came back and taught us all what she learned, she went phrase by phrase through our ritual and explained the importance. This year has been a struggle to get women to follow the correct steps in our rituals because they want to get everything done as quickly as possible even if some things are done wrong. Ultimately, they view our ritual as an obligation. Ritual is a privilege not a right; it is something that we all get to do. Rachel has said that to the chapter time and time again. One specific instance when I have seen her face adversity because she was holding on to her values is when one of the officers refused to set up the correct ritual paraphernalia. Rachel did not continue on with the ceremony, she knew what was missing and even though other members voiced their opposition to waiting for the right paraphernalia to be set up, Rachel continued to wait. And when that officer still refused to set up the correct paraphernalia, Rachel began setting it up herself, and soon enough the others began to help her. I realized at that point that Rachel was making sure that the ties that bind each and every member of our organization are just as strong and true in our chapter. Six years ago, in 2010, she would have waited for tomorrow afternoon and headed straight for the local mall. However, today she starts shopping from her bedroom by launching an online chat with her personal stylist Haley, from Trunk Club. The stylist recommends several items, superimposing photos of them onto Kate s avatar. Kate rejects a few of the items that her stylist suggests, but quickly switches to another browser tab to research the customer reviews and prices elsewhere. After a minute or two, Kate finds better deals on a couple of the items at another retailer, and orders them. She buys one item from Trunk Club online and then schedules a time for tomorrow to drive to the Trunk Club lounge nearest her, for the in stock items she wants to try on. This scenario is fictional, but it s neither as fanciful nor as futuristic as some may think. All the technology Kate used is already accessible to the public and within a matter of years, much of it will be ubiquitous. With an abundance of quick information, near perfect price transparency, and the convenience of twenty four hour availability, online shopping seems to be a dream for many consumers. However, it s feeling more like a nightmare for many conventional retailers, those worried about security, and some tree huggers .For centuries, people have marked in their minds and written on their to do lists to make ...
