The Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting
Zuri Gacia
Ann Cumba GOT2305
23 November 2015
They had their entire lives ahead of them birthdays, graduations, weddings, kids of their own. Among
the fallen were also teachers, men and women who devoted their lives to helping our children fulfill
their dreams ( STUDENT NEWS ). One morning in Newtown, Connecticut, many children and staff
of Sandy Hook Elementary were ready to begin their daily routine of attending school, or work.
Unfortunately, they were not aware that this would be the last time they do so. The shooting at Sandy
Hook Elementary ended the lives of several staff and young children. This devastating tragedy added
fuel to the controversial gun argument. Parents of the children lobbied to pass gun reform laws which
would help provide safety for citizens and prevent awful events similar to this from occurring in the
future.
The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown,
Connecticut, when 20 year old Adam Lanza shot twenty children and six adult staff members ( Sandy
Hook Elementary School Shooting ). It was the deadliest mass shooting at a high school or grade
school in U.S. history and the second deadliest mass shooting by a single person in America (
Screening Sandy Hook ). Several families lost a loved one all due to someone s selfishness to provoke
harm to many innocent lives. At some point before he went to the school, investigators believe Adam
Lanza, killed his mother, Nancy Lanza ( Sandy Hook Shooting:

Owing to the global financial crisis and the prolonged economic slowdown, Qantas s 2009 annual
report shows a subdued financial performance revenue of $14.6 billion, 6.9% drop from 2008; profit
before tax of $181 million, a sharp decline of 87.1%; earnings per share of 5.6 cents as opposed to 49

Qantas had achieved 334,000 flights over 530 million kilometres. It carried 38 million passengers and
prepared 36 million meals. Frequent flyer points of 18% more were redeemed; 575,000 tonnes of
freight were handled and 490,000 engineering tasks were undertaken.

Football Mascot Analysis
Sweat dripping down from faces, nasty pads being thrown out and replaced along with the ripped
pants. The smell of cleats reeking along with the molded mouth guards and practice jerseys. This is
what is known as the first day of football tryouts. All the little ones gather around their friends eager
like it is Christmas morning ready to be running around and hitting people. Each one brought up to
know the nothing but live, breathe, sleep lifestyle of football. But not everyone knows that lifestyle.
There is that one kid who is left out and ends up being the mascot every year keeping his teammates
positive and happy while occasionally bringing them water when needed. The players seem to always
ask him, Why can t you play? And his only explanation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After consulting, the coach found out his reasoning being, when he played as a child, they did not
have all the gear to entirely be safe and this worried the dad that the same thing would happen to his
son. But because football has changed and teaches kids to stay in shape and learn life skills such as
sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork, parents should take the risk and let their kids
play the game.
By participating in football people can learn sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork.
Considering the many lessons it teaches, teamwork and discipline play the main role. With teamwork,
players/children are learning how to trust their teammates the more experience they have with each
other. As for discipline, it teaches kids to work hard and set good goals which can be helpful for them
in the future as opposed to not playing, and being a step behind. NFL expert Jobe Lewis says that
football requires a pretty unique brand of teamwork and requires the player to discipline himself and
to work hard (Lewis 1).

Essay On Fringe Catholicism
I. Introduction
This paper will answer the question of why Latin American Catholics are increasingly practicing
Fringe Catholicism. Catholicism has been an essential part of Latin American identity since it was first
imposed on the indigenous people by Spanish colonial powers. The mixture of Catholicism with
indigenous religions has led to a different development of Catholicism in Latin America than in other
parts of the world. For this reason many people cite, indigenous religions as a reason why there are
many practices in Latin America that do not align with the Catholic Church. Yet, the persistent
interdependence between the two religious groups does not address the various factors that have led to
an increased number of people praying to` non canonized folk saints.
This puzzle is important for it addresses a significant cultural shift in an essential aspect of Latin
American identity. Through various revolutions and almost consistent instability in various countries,
Catholicism has been a dependable creator and developer of Latin American identity. Therefore the
increased practice of Fringe Catholicism becomes a question not only of cultural identity but also one
which addresses the shifting relationships between practitioners and other members of the community.
Yet, the previous literature is consistently lacking in providing a detailed explanation of why people
pray to these various folk saints and rather answer the question of why these saints exist. A more

Our Fractious Foreign Policy Debate
In Fred Baumann s article, Our Fractious Foreign Policy Debate he describes America s unique
approach in dealing with foreign countries from the Vietnam Conflict to the War in
Afghanistan. In Baumann s opinion, the United States sometimes takes an irrational outlook of issues
with other counties and that has gotten the U.S into trouble. He begins by describing the issues that the
United States has faced since Vietnam and how we may have made decisions since then based on a
conflict that happened over three decades ago. He takes a rather controversial take on our countries
foreign policy and by the end of the article questions whether or not our government is making well
founded decisions, and I agree with him completely because the
United States has made critical errors in judgement over the foreign policy since Vietnam.
Baumann starts the discussion on U.S policy by turning his attention to the Vietnam paradigm which
describes how our foreign policy controls itself with political suspicions and moral condemnation for
the use of nearly any type of military deployment(68). Right wing conservatives will tell you that what
we did in Vietnam was to free the people and allow them to be democratic and no longer under North
Vietnamese rule. Baumann believes that when conservatives are in power they tend to fight wars on
their tiptoes(68). The American populations interest in foreign affairs and our government has severely
declined since times like the 70s and
Vietnam.

Equality And Marriage Equality
The United States of America is one of the largest nations in the world. People popularly call it The
Land of Opportunity and come from all over because of its reputation for being a Melting Pot.
However, it still holds several problems, according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
published by the United Nations. The UDHR supports the rights of everyone all over the world,
expecting everyone to abide by its word. While the UDHR is successful in many ways and holds value
in our country, the Unites States definitely still lacks complete acceptance of marriage equality
(Article 16) as well as gender equality in the workplace (Article 23). While America has certainly
been progressing towards a better future, the United States still fails to defend the rights of specific
social groups, which shows people the duty everyone has to make a difference. Depending on the
state, couples in the LGBTQIA+ community have not legally been able to get married, which is
something that people who identify as heterosexual take for granted. This is infuriating because
selecting a partner for the rest of your life should not be a privilege, but a right. According to the
UDHR in Article 16, Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or
religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage
and at its dissolution. Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the

The Scientific Revolution And The Enlightened Aftermath...
Chapter 29 The Scientific Revolution and the Enlightened Aftermath
The Scientific Revolution was the accumulated capital ideas of the genius of the 17th century. Natural
science was in an upswing in importance and accuracy. The scientific method had two elements:
careful observation and systematic experimentation based on the observation. Next was the
interpretation of that data, mathematical measurements.
Rene Descartes (1596 1650) was a forefather for the use of mathematical style of investigation. He
separated materialistic from the non materialistic universe.
Deductive reasoning was the approach where the understanding of the material world was formulated
into broad generalizations of the quantitative nature and utilized to explain particular processes.
Nicholas Copernicus (1473 1543) was Polish scholar who penned the Revolution of the Heavenly
Bodies, He questioned the theory of an earth centered geocentric universe. He concluded that the earth
revolved around a fixed sun, and this belief was called heliocentrism.
Sir Isaac Newton (1642 1727) was the co discoverer of calculus, he was fundamentalist for the
spectrum of light, and in 1687, he published his work referred to as Principia Mathematica or
Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy. He can also be credited to the prophecies of the Old
Testament.

Insolvency Practitioners
The rules regulating the independence of insolvency practitioners serve an important purpose in the
profession; to secure public confidence in the impartiality and effectiveness of the regulations and
discipline of the insolvency system. The purpose of my report is to comment on the expectations
imposed upon liquidators including whether the Walton Constructions Pty Limited (2014) FCAFC 85
( the Walton case ), sets an unrealistic standard. The importance of the Walton case is for insolvency
practitioners to recognise the legal principles that can be drawn from the decision. Although I am able
to appreciate the ideals behind the results of the Walton case and the standard this sets, my findings

There is a clear shift towards principles based regulation in the insolvency profession. The leading
purposes of the Code is to provide broad principles that can be applied to a multitude of circumstances
with the aim of averting practitioners from justifying a particular course of action via a loophole in the
Act. The results of cases such as the Walton case serve as a reminder to practitioners that the Act
merely provides a minimum benchmark as to the appropriate course of action and that practitioners
should have regard to the requirements of the code when considering a new appointment.
Interestingly, Honourable Justice Robertson made the following comment in the Walton case being
that he does not regard the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Australia s guide as extrinsic
material appropriate or permitted to be taken into account in construing s 60 and 436DA of the Act.
Although this is the case, the Code is still pertinent to practitioners. As stated by Miss Alicia Hill and
Jessica Patrick although the Code cannot be directly taken into account in construing legislation, it has
a very important place in regulating insolvency

Equal Gender Representation in The Gaming Franchise This paper tries to express how
sexism/chauvinism ideas have infected the virtual world of video games, and resulted in a male
dominated video gaming industry. Now, being that 49% of U.S. households own a dedicated gaming
console (E.S.A. 2012), it is imperative that we address this issue. Gender disparity in the gaming
business is exceedingly one sided. Female employees constitute less than 10% of the gaming industry,

number of females have indeed contributed to the gaming franchise as a result of the industries no

not as professionals. One s earnings are a reflection of whom they are in society and, in this case, the

Beaver Fur Trade
Envisioning today s world without the events of the seventeenth century is a genuine awakening.
From the conquests of the Americas by the Europeans to traditional isolationist views in Asia, one
could sufficiently argue this period in history as being the catalyst that ushered in the interdependent
society enjoyed by those who presently inhabit the earth. Furthermore, the integration of people and
cultures led to numerous indispensable discoveries of goods in foreign lands. The global market
exploded as trade became prominent, and people s definition of amenity changed to that which meant
they needed it because they wanted it. Slaves, blue and white china, silver, and spices are only a few

This dish represents much more in the bigger scheme of the world than one might imagine. There had
been bitter conflict in the years prior to the rise in popularity of fine china in Europe between the
Dutch and Spanish. This fact is exemplified in the line, . . . Spain was the [Dutch] arch enemy: Spain
was the state that had occupied the Low Countries in the sixteenth century and had used spectacular
violence to suppress the Dutch independence movement (Brook 64). Being Portugal was in alliance
with the Spanish made their vessels fair game to be apprehended at sea by the Dutch. This occurred
with the Dutch occupying the two Portuguese ships; San Iago and Santa Catarina. Thus, it was by
domination that the inaugural shipments of fine china made its way to the Dutch country. Explaining
the arrival of the acquired Portuguese goods in Amsterdam, Brooks writes, Onto the docks of that city
emerged the first great trove of china to reach Holland, and buyers from all over Europe fought for a
piece (Brooks 63). While some goods were traded or confiscated to appease the masses personal
wants, other exchanges taking place in the time period of Vermeer was solely for survival. This

Introduction
Domestic violence in the United States is a serious and grave social concern. Alarmingly, the rate at
which this very intimate violence occurs is increasing. The recent events concerning the criminal trial
of former football star O.J. Simpson have shed light upon domestic violence as a national and social
ill. The fate Nicole Brown Simpson endured is identical to that of thousands of women who are caught
within the vicious cycle of abuse and pay the ultimate price of death as a result.
Domestic violence essentially affects everyone. It is not merely a personal or private problem within
families. With this idea in mind, just how horrifying are the facts about domestic violence? According
to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (US Department of Justice), a woman is beaten every 15 seconds
somewhere in the United States. The FBI reports that domestic violence is the leading cause of injury
to women between 15 and 44 in the United States more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes

These modified foods are hiding all over your supermarkets and in some instances, there is no way to

They wanted to create crops that were able to be insect resistant, disease resistant, herbicide tolerant,
and climate tolerant. These altered crops also benefit consumers and markets by having an improved
texture and flavor, a longer shelf life, and at times, added nutritional value (Lessick, Keithley, Swason,
Lemon, 2002). The advantages of genetically modified crops range from a higher yield, due to its
ability to withstand natural occurrences, to an increase in nutritional qualities. In theory, this sounds
like a foolproof method because the more resistant crops are, the stronger they are to withstand any
dangers it may face. In 1996, two types of genetically engineered seeds were introduced
commercially, known as herbicide tolerant (HT) and Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) (Budinger, 2010). The
herbicide tolerant seeds were engineered to survive the direct application of herbicides. Herbicides are
used to kill unwanted weeds or plants that could damage the crops. Regular crops are not able to
withstand the intensity of herbicides and would otherwise die from direct application. Bacillus
thuringiensis (Bt), other type of genetically engineered seed, was created to produce toxin within the
plant cells. These toxins are meant to kill certain agricultural insect pests that would destroy millions
of acres of crops. By using these types of GE seeds, farmers are able

across a number of situations. Trait anger is also more related to problematic behavior. The study s
aim was to find out if trait anger predicts PTSD symptoms even when various vulnerability factors are
taken into account. For example, pre trauma neuroticism has been shown to predict levels of PTSD.
The authors hypothesized that trait anger before deployment would predict PTSD levels at two months
and again at nine months after deployment. The authors also hypothesized that there would be a

Telecommunication Structure And Computer Networking...
As Chief Information Officer (CIO) of a small but growing firm, the organization is outgrowing the
current architectural centralized telecommunication structure along with the computer networks. The
task at hand is to protect the valuable information, but remain flexible enough for employees to
perform their daily duties. The enhancements need to address security aspects such as remote data

Body of Analysis To begin understanding the rise of women s roles in Japan, we must first analyze the
importance and impact of gender roles, politics, and conflict in Japanese culture. Typically, men have
dominated leadership roles in Japanese society for centuries and women have only now begun to make
an appearance in such influential positions. The voices of powerful women are finally being heard.
Women such as the first female governor Yuriko Koike, the first female Democratic Party leader
Renho Murata, and the female defense minister Tomomi Indada are using their positions to encourage
and promote a change for women in political occupations of leadership in the country (Hu 2017).
Women s rights for equality has slowly become a social fact in Japanese society as women are
overcoming cultural boundaries in order to achieve political, social, and economic status never open to
women before. Durkheim s social fact is the collective consciousness of cultural and social norms
understood by a society (Durkheim 20131). Women have taken the initiative and begun reaching for
leadership positions across Japan, expressing their desire to make a change in society (Hu 2017).
Commonly, women in Japan experience a life that is influenced by the social norms established in
society by men. Women were told, by influential male leaders, to remain

There is much debate on whether the government should have a big or lesser role in regulating the
economy. Many people think that the government should be more involved, but I believe that the
government should receive a lesser role in regulating the economy because of how it affects
individuals in global trade and corporations. Less government regulation in global trade will be a
better decision and create lesser problems. The purpose of the government in a global trade is to make
sure that the transaction between consumers and producers is not interrupted. They must make sure

What Does Today Owe Tomorrow tackles the question whether we should help the future generation
even if they have not done anything to give back. Scientists believed that (3) if we continue pouring
greenhouse gases into the atmosphere at ever rising rates, the unknown will remain substantial
because of how much of the present will affect the suffering of the future people. However,
economists in the field believe that the thing to do is to put a price on emissions of greenhouses gases
that would raise the price of gasoline and electricity. Doing this would stop emissions and people
would want to buy better and efficient cars. Because this is unknown, another likely answer is to push
harder on climate policies or increase emissions price. The last article focuses on the issue of The First
Amendment. The First Amendment (4) has become the darling of economic libertarians and corporate
lawyers who have recognized its power to immunize private enterprise from legal restraint. This has
become the patron saint for protestors in the article, First Amendment, Patron Saint of Protesters, Is

increased from 1.5 to 2.2 a year and those involving individuals have fallen 4.2 to 3.6. With the use of
the First Amendment, corporations use this against their workers, not allowing them to use their right

Essay on The History of Islamic Political Ideas
Al Ghazali:
In past 20years, political role of Islam increased considerably which resulted in overgrown interest in
finding the history of Islamic political ideas existing in medieval Muslim society. The evaluation of
ideas enabled it to find out the development of mechanism known as Muslim society and discover its
functioning as an efficient government. Among many Islamic schools of ideas, Al ghazali is also one
of those renowned Islamic scholars who gave his ideas regarding efficient government and political
system.

Research: First, I would find our organization s previous data to find out who are interested in a choral

Female Painting Research Paper
I have been in the professional painting business for 10 years now, I am a 39 year old female. I get a
lot of questions and odd looks when they see a female painter, but after they see my work, I get a lot
of comments. The comments are usually geared towards how great of a job I do and how neat my
painting is, compared to other painters they have hired, in many cases I had to correct other painters
work or finish what they started.
I have worked with many male painters and only a couple of female painters, but I find there are more
and more females getting into the painting business.
I find painting very relaxing and I love seeing the end results.
I started working for a small company 10 years ago when I was offered a job to try painting. At first, I
was hesitant because of the physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

for you and what doesn t along the way. I grabbed 2 putty knives, one smaller one and a larger one for
the bigger holes and a plastering hand tool for the mud. I grabbed a pack of sand sponges as well to
sand the patches.
I definitely needed the poly filla especially for little nails holes and on new trim and baseboard where
they haven t filled the nail holes. You would be surprised at how many carpenters do not fill the nail
holes after installing trim or baseboard, I think I came across 2 that did in the 10 years of painting.
Next would be the extended painter s pole, now they have different sizes. I bought one 4 ft extender
and one 6 ft. The longer one was for the ceilings and any really high walls you will encounter and the

purpose of this paper is to look at a particular ad in depth and discuss the different aspects of it. Ads

In Dr. Strangelove, the main fears represented in the film are about Russia and war. Throughout the
show, we see the American s negative and hostile attitudes towards the Russians. For example, the
pilot captain of the bomb place called the Russians Ruskies which shows a clear disrespectful tone
towards the Russians. Also, the American war general immediately bragged about the U.S. s
achievements while putting down the Russians. The general of the base even thought that Communists

For example, Stark sees the results of his weapons being used for harm when he gets captured during a
war in a remote area. Although his weapons are supposed to be used for the sake of peace and
patriotism, his weapons are randomly killing people since someone wants to become king of Asia,
showing the extent a man is willing to go to to fulfill their goals. Another example is seeing Stark get
tortured and forced to rebuild the Jericho bomb for a mad man s purpose. Weapons are always a big
fear since whoever has the best quality ones wins. Finally, multiple examples of deception happens.
For example, the military always covers up incidents as military training which shows that they are

Date performed January 18, 2015
Introduction/ Abstract:
Simple harmonic motion is the study of oscillation. An object undergoes oscillation when it
experiences a restoring force which restores this object to equilibrium positon. The Simple harmonic
oscillation occurs when the net force on an object along the direction of motion is proportional to the
object s displacement and in the opposite direction by this equation F = kx. In addition, an object
whose position time graph makes a sine or cosine function is in simple harmonic motion. This type of
relation is called Hooke s law. The purpose of this experiment is to prove Hooke s law and study
Simple harmonic motion and to show that this equation T = 2 is valid during Simple harmonic motion.
Theory:
The relevant theoretical concepts and equations used in this experiment are:
T = 2

The Supreme Court Case Of Buck Vs. Bell
Buck vs. Bell The Supreme Court case of Buck v. Bell in 1997 is a lawsuit in which the U.S. Supreme
Court upheld a Virginia law that offered the eugenic sterilization for individuals regarded genetically
unfit. The Supreme Court s decision to uphold Virginia s statute regarding sterilization provided the
basis for enactment of similar laws across the United States and subsequent sterilization of 65,000
Americans without their approval or that of their family members. Notably, the ruling of this case was
based on the concept of feeblemindedness, which is no longer applicable in medical terminology.
Actually, this case primarily involved state enforced eugenic sterilization for individuals considered
feebleminded or genetically substandard in certain ways. The case provides considerable insights
concerning eugenics and enforced sterilization in the United States and significant concerns on
whether genetics should be used for any king of legal decision.
Case Summary As previously mentioned, the Supreme Court case of Buck vs. Bell in 1927 was a
lawsuit that entailed state enforced eugenic sterilization for individuals regarded feebleminded or
somehow genetically substandard. Carrie Buck, the plaintiff, together with her mother had been
devoted to the Virginia Colony of Epileptics and Feeble Minded in Virginia (Eugenics Archive, n.d.).
The two were judged to be genetically inferior or feebleminded and immoral since they had children
out of wedlock. Moreover, Carrie Buck s child

Why An Individual Colleague Has Difficult Behavior
Running any business has its own challenges; however, most companies encounter difficult
employees, how can this issues be solved? First and foremost understanding why an individual
colleague has difficult behaviour. I have chosen to analysis why difficult staffs could be problematical
to any business. How does the role of a manager/leader play within the business to have effective
employees, whom can work as team player and perform at high standard? Furthermore looking into
the negative impact it has on a business and what could be the solution of having great working
efficient staffs. I based my research finding on google books, as well as using online articles. Firstly,
every business establishment has leaders whom play major role in, managing productive staffs. The
managers must have effective communication skills; for staffs to understand their roles within the
business, what their daily duties are. Instruction must be given as to when deadline must be
implemented. Adequate tools and equipment s must be provided, for example within the retail industry
merchandise products must be replenished on the shop floor and never should it be out of stock as this
will prevail the input of staffs to feel lack of motivation, therefore the employees will call in sick
rather than go into work place, that has no stocks to sell to customers. If staffs do not apprehend the
role of their jobs and responsibilities, these might bring on stress and inadequate of performing daily
tasks.

Of Plymouth Plantation William Byrd Summary
William Bradford and William Byrd may share the same first name but that is the length of the
similarities between these two colonial writers. Bradford, a puritan writer, valued religious freedom
above all else, often making the connection back to God and religion in his writings. In his text, Of
Plymouth Plantation, Bradford uses his personal experience to give an account of the first pilgrims
and the hardships they faced in their journey to colonize America. On the other hand, Byrd takes a
more satirical approach, using humor and wit to criticize those same early American settlers in his
publication The History of the Dividing Line. Bradford and Byrd both wrote texts about early
American life. However, the two authors have different purposes ... Show more content on

Bradford uses a bland, matter of fact style of writing which is common for the time period in which he
lived. He often avoids long, drawn out literary techniques instead focusing on clearly stating his
opinions. His tone is especially evident in his description of the Pilgrim s journey across the ocean,
According to the usual manner, many were afflicted with seasickness (Bradford). Bradford chooses to
express events as simply as he can, allowing himself to ghost over tedious details to instead focus on
his underlying purpose. Unlike Bradford, Byrd prefers to make use of a more sarcastic tone in his text,
often taking his descriptions into great detail. He pokes fun at influential and important events, often
removing the severity from situations with a humours flare. Several repeated misadventures of this
kind did for some time allay the itch of sailing to this new world, but the distemper broke out again
(Byrd). Byrd s writing is compiled of witty lines and blunt remarks that prove his distaste for the early
American settlers. It is clear he disapproves of the Pilgrim s methods but his words lack the malicious
undertone that is clear in Bradford s text when he mentions practices he does not fully agree

Importance Of Voting In Texas
Texas has a long ballot, which is an election system that provides for the election that lists all
candidates, for all positions, from all political parties, available to a specific voting district. The long
ballot includes the president and vice president, two U.S. senators, U.S. Representatives, governor of
Texas and five other state executive officials, three railroad commissioners, one member of the State
Board of Education (SBOE), one state senator, one state representatives, nine members if the Texas

Had the ballot been shorter, they believe their decisions could have had more knowledgeable. I believe
that it is important to be well informed when going to vote, and it has now been brought to my
attention that the ballot will contain many positions to vote on, so I will be sure to research candidates
and show up to the voting station informed and sure of my decisions. In Texas, there are a few types of
elections held: general elections, primary elections, runoff elections and special elections. The general
election is held in November of even years statewide to fill state and national offices. The primary is
an election held within each party to choose the party s candidates for general elections. Runoff
elections are held if no candidate in the primary election receives the majority of votes. Special
elections are held outside of the regular election calendar to fill unexpected vacancies. Because Texas
holds a few types of elections, people believe Texas has too many elections, but I disagree and find
that the amount of elections held are necessary to access situations such as vacancies and allow for
voters to practice their right to vote more

Among the fallen were also teachers, men and women who devoted their lives to helping our children fulfill their dreams ( STUDENT NEWS ). • 5. Football Mascot Analysis Sweat dripping down from faces, nasty pads being thrown out and replaced along with the ripped pants. The smell of cleats reeking along with the molded mouth guards and practice jerseys. This is what is known as the first day of football tryouts. All the little ones gather around their friends eager like it is Christmas morning ready to be running around and hitting people. Each one brought up to know the nothing but live, breathe, sleep lifestyle of football. But not everyone knows that lifestyle. There is that one kid who is left out and ends up being the mascot every year keeping his teammates positive and happy while occasionally bringing them water when needed. The players seem to always ask him, Why can t you play? And his only explanation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After consulting, the coach found out his reasoning being, when he played as a child, they did not have all the gear to entirely be safe and this worried the dad that the same thing would happen to his son. But because football has changed and teaches kids to stay in shape and learn life skills such as sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork, parents should take the risk and let their kids play the game. By participating in football people can learn sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork. Considering the many lessons it teaches, teamwork and discipline play the main role. With teamwork, players/children are learning how to trust their teammates the more experience they have with each other. As for discipline, it teaches kids to work hard and set good goals which can be helpful for them in the future as opposed to not playing, and being a step behind. NFL expert Jobe Lewis says that football requires a pretty unique brand of teamwork and requires the player to discipline himself and to work hard (Lewis 1). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay On Fringe Catholicism I. Introduction This paper will answer the question of why Latin American Catholics are increasingly practicing Fringe Catholicism. Catholicism has been an essential part of Latin American identity since it was first imposed on the indigenous people by Spanish colonial powers. The mixture of Catholicism with indigenous religions has led to a different development of Catholicism in Latin America than in other parts of the world. For this reason many people cite, indigenous religions as a reason why there are many practices in Latin America that do not align with the Catholic Church. Yet, the persistent interdependence between the two religious groups does not address the various factors that have led to an increased number of people praying to` non canonized folk saints. This puzzle is important for it addresses a significant cultural shift in an essential aspect of Latin American identity. Through various revolutions and almost consistent instability in various countries, Catholicism has been a dependable creator and developer of Latin American identity. Therefore the increased practice of Fringe Catholicism becomes a question not only of cultural identity but also one which addresses the shifting relationships between practitioners and other members of the community. Yet, the previous literature is consistently lacking in providing a detailed explanation of why people pray to these various folk saints and rather answer the question of why these saints exist. • 7. Our Fractious Foreign Policy Debate In Fred Baumann s article, Our Fractious Foreign Policy Debate he describes America s unique approach in dealing with foreign countries from the Vietnam Conflict to the War in Afghanistan. In Baumann s opinion, the United States sometimes takes an irrational outlook of issues with other counties and that has gotten the U.S into trouble. He begins by describing the issues that the United States has faced since Vietnam and how we may have made decisions since then based on a conflict that happened over three decades ago. He takes a rather controversial take on our countries foreign policy and by the end of the article questions whether or not our government is making well founded decisions, and I agree with him completely because the United States has made critical errors in judgement over the foreign policy since Vietnam. Baumann starts the discussion on U.S policy by turning his attention to the Vietnam paradigm which describes how our foreign policy controls itself with political suspicions and moral condemnation for the use of nearly any type of military deployment(68). Right wing conservatives will tell you that what we did in Vietnam was to free the people and allow them to be democratic and no longer under North Vietnamese rule. Baumann believes that when conservatives are in power they tend to fight wars on their tiptoes(68). The American populations interest in foreign affairs and our government has severely declined since times like the 70s and Vietnam. Taylor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Equality And Marriage Equality The United States of America is one of the largest nations in the world. People popularly call it The Land of Opportunity and come from all over because of its reputation for being a Melting Pot. However, it still holds several problems, according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, published by the United Nations. The UDHR supports the rights of everyone all over the world, expecting everyone to abide by its word. While the UDHR is successful in many ways and holds value in our country, the Unites States definitely still lacks complete acceptance of marriage equality (Article 16) as well as gender equality in the workplace (Article 23). While America has certainly been progressing towards a better future, the United States still fails to defend the rights of specific social groups, which shows people the duty everyone has to make a difference. Depending on the state, couples in the LGBTQIA+ community have not legally been able to get married, which is something that people who identify as heterosexual take for granted. This is infuriating because selecting a partner for the rest of your life should not be a privilege, but a right. According to the UDHR in Article 16, Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage and at its dissolution. Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chapter 29 The Scientific Revolution and the Enlightened Aftermath The Scientific Revolution was the accumulated capital ideas of the genius of the 17th century. Natural science was in an upswing in importance and accuracy. The scientific method had two elements: careful observation and systematic experimentation based on the observation. Next was the interpretation of that data, mathematical measurements. Rene Descartes (1596 1650) was a forefather for the use of mathematical style of investigation. He separated materialistic from the non materialistic universe. Deductive reasoning was the approach where the understanding of the material world was formulated into broad generalizations of the quantitative nature and utilized to explain particular processes. Nicholas Copernicus (1473 1543) was Polish scholar who penned the Revolution of the Heavenly Bodies, He questioned the theory of an earth centered geocentric universe. He concluded that the earth revolved around a fixed sun, and this belief was called heliocentrism. Sir Isaac Newton (1642 1727) was the co discoverer of calculus, he was fundamentalist for the spectrum of light, and in 1687, he published his work referred to as Principia Mathematica or Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy. He can also be credited to the prophecies of the Old Testament. Jean Jacques Rousseau (1712 1778) was the founder of modern pedagogical theory. Insolvency Practitioners The rules regulating the independence of insolvency practitioners serve an important purpose in the profession; to secure public confidence in the impartiality and effectiveness of the regulations and discipline of the insolvency system. The purpose of my report is to comment on the expectations imposed upon liquidators including whether the Walton Constructions Pty Limited (2014) FCAFC 85 ( the Walton case ), sets an unrealistic standard. The importance of the Walton case is for insolvency practitioners to recognise the legal principles that can be drawn from the decision. Although I am able to appreciate the ideals behind the results of the Walton case and the standard this sets, my findings indicate that the decision made by the high court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a clear shift towards principles based regulation in the insolvency profession. The leading purposes of the Code is to provide broad principles that can be applied to a multitude of circumstances with the aim of averting practitioners from justifying a particular course of action via a loophole in the Act. The results of cases such as the Walton case serve as a reminder to practitioners that the Act merely provides a minimum benchmark as to the appropriate course of action and that practitioners should have regard to the requirements of the code when considering a new appointment. Interestingly, Honourable Justice Robertson made the following comment in the Walton case being that he does not regard the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Australia s guide as extrinsic material appropriate or permitted to be taken into account in construing s 60 and 436DA of the Act. Although this is the case, the Code is still pertinent to practitioners. As stated by Miss Alicia Hill and Jessica Patrick although the Code cannot be directly taken into account in construing legislation, it has a very important place in regulating insolvency ... Equal Gender Representation in The Gaming Franchise This paper tries to express how sexism/chauvinism ideas have infected the virtual world of video games, and resulted in a male dominated video gaming industry. Now, being that 49% of U.S. households own a dedicated gaming console (E.S.A. 2012), it is imperative that we address this issue. Gender disparity in the gaming business is exceedingly one sided. Female employees constitute less than 10% of the gaming industry, and even though that shortcoming females have contributed to the video gaming franchise. From the conquests of the Americas by the Europeans to traditional isolationist views in Asia, one could sufficiently argue this period in history as being the catalyst that ushered in the interdependent society enjoyed by those who presently inhabit the earth. Furthermore, the integration of people and cultures led to numerous indispensable discoveries of goods in foreign lands. There had been bitter conflict in the years prior to the rise in popularity of fine china in Europe between the Dutch and Spanish. This fact is exemplified in the line, . . . Spain was the [Dutch] arch enemy: Spain was the state that had occupied the Low Countries in the sixteenth century and had used spectacular violence to suppress the Dutch independence movement (Brook 64). Being Portugal was in alliance with the Spanish made their vessels fair game to be apprehended at sea by the Dutch. This occurred with the Dutch occupying the two Portuguese ships; San Iago and Santa Catarina. Thus, it was by domination that the inaugural shipments of fine china made its way to the Dutch country. Explaining the arrival of the acquired Portuguese goods in Amsterdam, Brooks writes, Onto the docks of that city emerged the first great trove of china to reach Holland, and buyers from all over Europe fought for a piece (Brooks 63). While some goods were traded or confiscated to appease the masses personal wants, other exchanges taking place in the time period of Vermeer was solely for survival. They wanted to create crops that were able to be insect resistant, disease resistant, herbicide tolerant, and climate tolerant. These altered crops also benefit consumers and markets by having an improved texture and flavor, a longer shelf life, and at times, added nutritional value (Lessick, Keithley, Swason, Lemon, 2002). The advantages of genetically modified crops range from a higher yield, due to its ability to withstand natural occurrences, to an increase in nutritional qualities. In theory, this sounds like a foolproof method because the more resistant crops are, the stronger they are to withstand any dangers it may face. In 1996, two types of genetically engineered seeds were introduced commercially, known as herbicide tolerant (HT) and Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) (Budinger, 2010). The herbicide tolerant seeds were engineered to survive the direct application of herbicides. Herbicides are used to kill unwanted weeds or plants that could damage the crops. Regular crops are not able to withstand the intensity of herbicides and would otherwise die from direct application. Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), other type of genetically engineered seed, was created to produce toxin within the plant cells. These toxins are meant to kill certain agricultural insect pests that would destroy millions of acres of crops. By using these types of GE seeds, farmers are able ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An object undergoes oscillation when it experiences a restoring force which restores this object to equilibrium positon. The Simple harmonic oscillation occurs when the net force on an object along the direction of motion is proportional to the object s displacement and in the opposite direction by this equation F = kx. In addition, an object whose position time graph makes a sine or cosine function is in simple harmonic motion. This type of relation is called Hooke s law. The purpose of this experiment is to prove Hooke s law and study Simple harmonic motion and to show that this equation T = 2 is valid during Simple harmonic motion. Bell in 1997 is a lawsuit in which the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a Virginia law that offered the eugenic sterilization for individuals regarded genetically unfit. The Supreme Court s decision to uphold Virginia s statute regarding sterilization provided the basis for enactment of similar laws across the United States and subsequent sterilization of 65,000 Americans without their approval or that of their family members. Notably, the ruling of this case was based on the concept of feeblemindedness, which is no longer applicable in medical terminology. Actually, this case primarily involved state enforced eugenic sterilization for individuals considered feebleminded or genetically substandard in certain ways. The case provides considerable insights concerning eugenics and enforced sterilization in the United States and significant concerns on whether genetics should be used for any king of legal decision. • 38. Of Plymouth Plantation William Byrd Summary William Bradford and William Byrd may share the same first name but that is the length of the similarities between these two colonial writers. Bradford, a puritan writer, valued religious freedom above all else, often making the connection back to God and religion in his writings. In his text, Of Plymouth Plantation, Bradford uses his personal experience to give an account of the first pilgrims and the hardships they faced in their journey to colonize America. On the other hand, Byrd takes a more satirical approach, using humor and wit to criticize those same early American settlers in his publication The History of the Dividing Line. Bradford uses a bland, matter of fact style of writing which is common for the time period in which he lived. He often avoids long, drawn out literary techniques instead focusing on clearly stating his opinions. His tone is especially evident in his description of the Pilgrim s journey across the ocean, According to the usual manner, many were afflicted with seasickness (Bradford). Bradford chooses to express events as simply as he can, allowing himself to ghost over tedious details to instead focus on his underlying purpose. Unlike Bradford, Byrd prefers to make use of a more sarcastic tone in his text, often taking his descriptions into great detail. He pokes fun at influential and important events, often removing the severity from situations with a humours flare. Several repeated misadventures of this kind did for some time allay the itch of sailing to this new world, but the distemper broke out again (Byrd). Byrd s writing is compiled of witty lines and blunt remarks that prove his distaste for the early American settlers. It is clear he disapproves of the Pilgrim s methods but his words lack the malicious undertone that is clear in Bradford s text when he mentions practices he does not fully agree ... I believe that it is important to be well informed when going to vote, and it has now been brought to my attention that the ballot will contain many positions to vote on, so I will be sure to research candidates and show up to the voting station informed and sure of my decisions. In Texas, there are a few types of elections held: general elections, primary elections, runoff elections and special elections. The general election is held in November of even years statewide to fill state and national offices. The primary is an election held within each party to choose the party s candidates for general elections.
