Artemisia Gentileschi s Esther Before Ahasuerus
Artemisia Gentileschi s Esther before Ahasuerus depicts the biblical scene of Esther going before the King of Persia
unsummoned to plead for a request. The Visual Element/Principles of Design that stood out were line, tonal value,
color, texture, emphasis, and unity/variety. The dominant visual element that stands out in this Gentileschi piece is
emphasis/focal point. It is clear that she wants the viewers eyes to be drawn to Esther. She accomplishes this first
through tonal value. Gentileschi uses chiaroscuro to illuminate Esther s face and causes her to be the focal point of the
piece. Esther is also emphasized through implied line. The king and ladies eyes direct the viewer towards Esther. The
asymmetric balance also accentuates Esther.

Political Changes In Chile
Located between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Chile is a narrow but large country in south western
South America. Chile declared its independence from Spain in 1818 and was stable throughout the 19th century.
During the mid 1900 s, Chile saw a large economic and territorial increase, however by 1960 they were experiencing
extreme political mayhem. This mayhem lasted through the Cold War and impacted the country of Chile immensely.
In 1961, US President John F. Kennedy helped to establish the Alliance for Progress. This attempted to bring reform
and development to Chile and other Latin American areas. When Salvador Allende came to power he brought socialist
ideas to the government, and although he denied that he was associated with

The Bus A Modern Panacea Summary
Transportation is an everyday occurrence in today s society; it takes you where you need to in a timely manner. In the
article The Bus, a Modern Panacea by Lester Detroit, he explains that taking the VTA is a cure all solution. Detroit
notes that the VTA is convenient because students do not have to drive around to find parking space. He revels that
students can save money with the free Echo Pass that is provided with registered SJSU students. He also notes that
taking the VTA helps with the environmental problems because it solves traffic congestion, rising oil consumption,
and carbon pollution. With Detroit s statement, I agree with him that the VTA is a cure all solution because it saves
money, has health benefits, and is environmentally friendly. Taking the VTA can save thousands of dollars annually.
When people pay for gas it usually costs around three dollars per gallon depending on the company. Mantill Williams

In the article, Healthy alternative: Take mass transit by Larry Copeland, he reveals that for every thirty minutes

encourages people to exercise more by taking the transit, using the subway, exploring the local attractions, and riding
bikes. In my experience, I have to walk to and from the train station every day taking me about twenty two minutes to

The Pros And Cons Of Cultural Appropriation
Cultural appropriation is a crime in 2017. The Kardashian family is constantly under criticism for cultural
appropriation, as Khloé Kardashian has been accused of appropriating Native American headdresses, while Kylie
Jenner has come under fire more than once for wearing cornrows. Kendall Jenner s Pepsi commercial, where she
quelled a protest by offering a soda to a police officer, was lambasted as offensive and tone deaf. These are the
scenarios that the word appropriation brings to mind: privileged young women and cultural insensitivity. In I Can t
Stop Thinking through What Other People are Thinking , David Shields describes a wholly different cast of
appropriators: artists, writers, and composers.
In his essay, Shields unleashes his frustrations regarding the country s negative attitude towards appropriation and
borrowing. He asserts that there s no such thing as originality , that all life on earth...is built upon appropriation and
reuse of the pre existing (Shields 736). Shields utilizes a multitude of examples to illustrate and support his points.
Musicians from Mozart to Bob Dylan have utilized content or taken inspiration from other artists. Shields shows that
borrowing has been with us from the beginning , citing the New Testament and Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra
as composites of numerous sources (740). His essay demonstrates that borrowing is prevalent in music and writing, as
artists take inspiration from preceding artists and from their

Mediator Case Presentation
The Dispute at hand has been referred to mediation upon the suggestion of the Court. I have been identified as the
independent mediator for this dispute. My main objective is to fully diagnose the situation by gathering and
organizing all the relevant information. I aim to do so by building credibility, fostering a positive relationship with the
parties, and educating them about the mediation process while securing their commitment to this process. In order to
achieve this act it will require broad psychological control and people management. Over the course of mediation
procedure I will apply the different elements of principled negotiation to achieve an agreement that is competent and
improves the existing hostile relationship of both parties.
Agreement
An essential element to the operation of the mediation process is that both parties agree and consent to the
intervention before preparatory activities begin. Therefore, a clearly written agreement should be drafted. I plan to
draft this document with the input from all parties, in order to aid interpretation and minimise future ambiguity. The
document will describe the clear intent and agreement between the parties and will be signed by all parties and their
counsels. The agreement will pay particular focus on the following points:
Agreement to commit to mediation
Each individual party must use its best efforts to comply with the reasonable requests made by me in order to ensure a
punctual and expeditious determination

Effects Of Civil Disobedience
For a country to be recognizable as a nation it must consist of population, sovereignty, a governing body, and a
defined territory. In a federal government like the United States, the people exist to run the government; however, the
government exists to ensure that the people are under control and are free from anarchy. The government also exists to
ensure that itself remains under control from becoming tyrannical. The United States government is a two party
system made up of republicans and democrats. These party members become state legislators, governors, national
congressmen and women, and the president of the United States and his or her cabinet. These are the people who
everyday try their best to formulate laws which will help keep the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these demonstrations have been uncivil and have had very negative impacts on the country by further
pushing the wedge of divisiveness between classifications of American people. Most of these demonstrations are in
protest of our newly sworn in Commander in Chief Donald Trump. Many of these specific protests have turned to
riots where the protestors turn violent and harm others with differing beliefs and break into and loot businesses. That
is unethical disobedience which should not be tolerated. Another protest which was a negative representation of civil
disobedience was the Million Women March which occurred the day following President Trump s inauguration. This
march was exclusive, somewhat violent, and consisted of very limited vocabulary. In Washington, D.C., the pro life
feminist group New Wave Feminists were removed from the march by the people who claimed to be pro woman. In
D.C., there were some people dressed in right wing representing attire and were physically harmed by the tolerable
and pro woman protestors. At many of these marches across the country and the world, people chanted vulgar words
and expletives. Another example of very unjust disobedience was the demonstration by the students of UC Berkeley
just last week. Berkeley students in the 1960s performed the peaceful Free Speech Movement on campus. Now the
students of this publicly funded college are almost showing

Personal Leadership Style Of My Career Essay
1. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work for several leaders who in one way or another influenced
and molded my personal leadership style. Although not all of them are revered as positive influences, each one of
them provided me with the building blocks to develop myself as a leader and find my place within the organization.
2. Remembering a Boatswains Mate Master Chief at my first unit. He taught me to be fair but firm. I can practically
hear him right now saying Don t take it personal, keep it professional and always do the right thing . That phrase, as
simple as it might sound guided my early stages of development into the leader I am today. After the BMCM, some
time passed before I came across a young Lieutenant Commander who is now a Rear Admiral. An extremely
intelligent man who taught me to pursue a higher education and never stop improving myself professionally, as a
person, leader and parent. He was often absent from the office tending to other affairs, but his presence was felt
throughout. He told us to find the one thing we liked to do and master it.
3. Years passed without much of a leader role model. Although I worked for some, they did not influence me in any
way. The next influential leader in my career came in the form of a Warrant Officer who had a completely different
approach to leadership from my two previous influences. For him, it was his way or the highway. He did not value
input from the Chiefs nor the crew. He did not concern

Network Security And The Security
Hospital Network Security With a multitude of changes occurring in the technology field, it is critical that hospitals
maintain the highest levels of security for their internal network as well as their public access network. Hospitals
contain vital information about patients, treatment styles, employees and staff, as well as pharmaceuticals that are kept
on the premises. The importance of protecting this information cannot be understated and a breach in security could
cause a breakdown in all areas of the network, having a catastrophic effect on the entire hospital. One of the most
important aspects of network security is a strong network security model. The network security model consists of
seven layers that work together to provide the strongest possible security for the network. The seven layers are the
physical layer, the vlan layer, the software layer, the user layer, the administrative layer, and the IT department layer.
A network security model that is well thought out and designed allows the network security team to analyze and
maintain the network and determine if there has been a breach and the location of the breach. The first layer of the
network security model, the physical layer, pertains to physical security. This entails the prevention of a physical
attack on servers and other devices connected to the network. The physical layer is one of the most important layers of
protection because if it is breached, the layers beneath it will

Humanity In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
At this point in Raymond Carver s Cathedral, the unnamed narrator s wife keeps going on and on about Robert her
blind friend who she had not seen in a long while instead of mentioning her husband, which he sees as neglectful. He

think that most of us should be able to relate to this, because we all have, eagerly and vainly, waited for ourselves to

ourselves and our accomplishments. I would have to say that a lot of this so called vanity that the author describes

Mount Tambora Essay
Introduction In Sumbawa, Indonesia, a composite volcano erupted. Volcanic ash, tephra, hardened lava, and pumice
escaped the stratovolcano, and climbed into the atmosphere to the height of two to three times as much as the average
aviation flies. Piercing shrieks of petrification and excruciation could be heard from far away, yet it was immediately
lulled by an abrupt silence. Kilometres away, people s responses differed to the phenomenon s noise. British generals
deployed soldiers and rescue boats since they could not decide if it was cannons firing or a distress call from an
unfortunate boat. Evidently, they found nothing. They thought it was a clever trick, however; little did they know it

Production Tecniques In The Film Gattaca
i emmensly agree with the idea that a range of production tecniques in a film help the audience understand the themes.
An example of this would be Gattaca a movie by Andre Niccol, Gattaca is a dystopian fiction movie which uses a
range of production tecniques to help the audience understand the themes of the movie. Production trcniques that are
used in the movie include, colour hues, symbolism and camera angles. Niccol uses symbolism to portray many
themes in Gattaca. One of the main examples of symbolism in Gattca would be the stairs in jeromes house, this
staircase represents the structure of DNA which in turn represents genetic identiy one of the most major themes in the
movie. There is a scene in the movie where jerome is struggling to reach the topof the dna staircase. THis in turn
symbolises many thing, such as VIncents struggle to climb up the social staircase in order for him to be validated in
his society. Jeromes struggle, to live up to his genetic identiy, made him paralysed. Hence in the scene where Jerome
is struggling to climb the stairs, Niccol is symbolising both vincent and Jeromes struggle with their genetc identity,
and perfection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Garlinda to introduce this offer stating that the church really appreciates Wanda, her services and her gift of music to
the ministry, and would like Wanda to lead a small group for the music lovers who love to learn traditional church
songs that are no longer in the hymn books. This might please Wanda that she has not been pushed out of the church
bluntly but has still retain her place in the church where the church founding members really appreciate her. IN
addition, Wanda would work in collaboration with another/new music director who would direct music with Wanda.
To make the music more innovative, there would be duets where some songs would still have Wanda s old church

Racism, Prejudice And Antisemitism
Racism, Prejudice, and antisemitism are very serious concerns that need to be dealt with. As Rosa Parks said, Racism
is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall

Students Should Be Allowed to Use Personal Electronics in Class
As technology keeps advancing and becoming more influential in our lives, the question that arises is whether or not
it should be used in education. Should students be allowed to bring in and use their personal electronic devices in
class? Some people believe that the use of personal electronics in class is disruptive. School should be a place where
children learn to socialize and develop their thinking abilities along with other necessary life qualities; yet electronic
devices limit the development of those essential characteristics. However, although many people believe that this
integration is detrimental, many others still see great benefits to implementing technolo

students use headphones and listen to the textbook on their own devices.
Students can also look up key words easily by typing them in to the glossary or the search bar in the book. Already
those are many advantages that students cannot get when learning from only their textbooks. Sarah Henderson and
Jeff Yeow state that, a lot of educational technology is built from a behaviorist perspective. Behaviorism posits that
learning is manifested by a change in behavior, and that the environment determines these changes (iPad education, 1,
2). The en vironment has obviously been changing over the past 20 years. It has brought us some excellent and
modern changes to educate our children through the use of electronic devices and we should definitely take advantage
of this.
In 2002, people thought that these devices were not making communication efficient.

The Book Joshu A Parable For Today
To begin with, I really enjoyed the book by the name of Joshua: A Parable For Today , was a great and interested read
relating to Jesus Christ. I believe readers should take time and read this book for many reasons and one them is that it
makes you think throughout the whole book or novel for clues and strange things which makes the book more
interesting and very fun to read throughout the entire book/novel. I truly believe that readers should read this book
because it s interesting, mysterious, and in some parts or chapters of the novel/book you can picture, see or visualize
the characters doing things like, as I was reading briefly through the book I pictured, saw, or visualized Joshua and
God talking and having a good relationship with God
No I don t believe that Joshua was Jesus in many reasons, because Joshua might of disappeared in the book and did

According to the American Psychoanalytic Association transference is a concept that refers to our natural tendency to
respond to certain situations in unique, predetermined ways predetermined by much earlier, formative experiences

who fought hard for equality among the black community, Tupac carried through with it in his adult life. If it weren t
for his mother and stepfather teaching him that he should be proud to be black because it is what makes him who he
is, then he probably wouldn t have grown up to fight so hard for equality among everyone. I also think that growing
up in the ghetto and knowing first hand what it was like to struggle made him into the man he was. He took his own
personal experiences and used it to relate to his audience and discuss how to keep pushing through because it will get

Jeremy Bentham And John Stuart Mill s Mill On Utilitarianism
Mill on Utilitarianism The creed which accepts as the foundation of morals, Utility, or the Greatest Happiness
Principle, holds that actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce
the reverse of happiness (Utilitarianism, Mill). This theory of Utilitarianism was generated by the original Utilitarians,
Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill. Mill says: Happiness is intended pleasure, and the absence of pain; by
unhappiness, pain, and the privation of pleasure (Utilitarianism, Mill). Furthermore, these basic principles of
Utilitarianism are located under the Greatest Happiness Principle which states that actions are considered moral when

Secularism In Australia Essay
The increase in pluralism and materialism within the world, alongside the societies pursuit of individualism and
dissatisfaction with traditional religions gave rise to the formation of secularism. (Woodhead, 2016) Secularism
involves two theorems. The first being the strict separation of the church and state and the second is the equality
before the law provided to all different religions and beliefs (National Secular Society, 2016). This trend is most
evident through the significant increase in numbers of the Australian population in the no religion category from 0.3%
in 1947 to 0.8% in 1966 and to 16.6% by 1996. By 2006, it had risen to 18.7% and by 2011 it increased to 22.30%.

Ecumenical movements were formed as an institutional response in order to enhance this pursuit of peace and

towards secularism for example, Conservative Roman Catholicism and Orthodoxy were the most resistant, liberalism
were the most co operative, Evangelicalism and Charismatic Christianity both opposed some aspects of modernity
whilst accommodated others. (Woodhead, 2016) Therefore, ecumenism was a result in settling the uprising issues. For

The Pros And Cons Of MLB Winter Meetings
The MLB Winter Meetings are a time for owners, general managers and reporters to all be in the same place at the
same time. The Winter Meetings are notorious for big signings and trades that will happen in the course of the five
day span that the meetings last. Each year, the meetings are in a different city and this year, it s Nashville, Tennessee.
Some of the big free agents such as David Price and Zack Greinke had already signed prior to the meetings. But there
are big names that hadn t signed such as Ben Zobrist. The Winter Meetings are also a time for big names to be traded.

The same night, another trade was struck between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Atlanta Braves. The Braves sent
the young stud Shelby Miller, who recorded a 3.02 ERA in 2015, to Arizona in exchange for top D Backs prospect,
Dansby Swanson and two other prospects. This move proved that the Dbacks want to go all in for 2016. There are still
many players on the market who have yet to be signed, primarily outfielders. Outfielders such as Jason Heyward,
Yoenis Cespedes, Alex Gordon and Justin Upton have yet to reach deals with teams. The Giants, after losing out on
the major free agents and trade candidates that they wanted are the frontrunners to sign the 2015 World Champion
Alex Gordon of the Kansas City Royals. The meetings conclude on December 10th, but the offseason won t stop.
Many deals will continue to be made all the way up until January before spring training. The current rumor now is
that Jason Heyward will choose between the Cubs, Angels and Cardinals. An outfield consisting of Heyward and
Mike Trout would be one of the best defensive outfields in all of baseball because they are both spectacular

The Sound And The Fury Analysis
In The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner the representation of populations with inter family conflict is
expressed through the differing character explanations in their designated sections. The novel provides an insight to
the mind and memory comprehension of different mental capacities; however, how and why is a social group
represented in a particular way? The Sound and the Fury is divided into four specific sections that are devoted to the
minds of four different characters, specifically Benjamin, Quentin, Jason, and the unknown chapter. The first chapter
is Benjamin s chapter, this chapter is spent mainly shifting from the present time and the past. Faulkner utilized
Benjamin s different mindset to provide the reader with an accurate thought pattern. This constant shift allows for the
reader to connect to Benjamin s understanding and experiences. The second chapter belongs to Quentin, this chapter
gives the insight of Quentin s life experiences and the causes of his imminent death. Faulkner once again switches
from present to past in this chapter; however, the past memories connect to the ending of his chapter where he ends
his life. The third chapter is from the viewpoint of Jason and all of the problems that he is left with from the actions of
his siblings. The final chapter is neither devoted to just one person or to all problems of the family, instead the final
chapter encapsulates the hardships that the family faces as a whole. Faulkner s use of division

Star History
The life cycle of a star is dependent on its mass. The larger the mass, the quicker it will die out, whereas stars which
are no more than half the size of our Sun can live up to hundreds of billion years. However no matter how large the
star is, they all begin their lives in a nursery known as a molecular cloud.
A molecular cloud is a giant condensation of dust and molecular gas. They are regions of relatively dense interstellar
gas and dust with hydrogen molecules as well as carbon and silicate materials forming the primary constituents.
Helium and small amounts of heavier elements are also found within the cloud. Molecular clouds are very cold and
dark regions with typical temperatures of between 10 and 50 Kelvin. The mass of a typical ... Show more content on

The amount of fuel and the rate at which nuclear fusion occurs depends on the mass of the star. The mass of a star is
the determining factor of how long it lives. A red dwarf star is a star about half the size of our Sun. Due to its
extremely low fusion rate, it is estimated that they could last for 10 trillion years. A medium sized star like our Sun
spends its main sequence stage up to 10 billion years.
Stars like our Sun, which are no more than 1.44 solar masses, will undergo fusion of hydrogen into helium. Over its
life time the star slowly uses its supply of hydrogen by fusing it into helium. These reactions require high
temperatures. Eventually the star will completely fuse hydrogen into helium in its core leaving inadequate amounts of
thermal pressure to balance gravity. This will cause the centre of the star to contract to compensate for the heat energy
lost.
As this slow contraction continues, the core temperature, density, and pressure of the star continues to increase. As the
star shrinks it becomes so dense that it starts to compress helium. This results in the star to swell due to the hot core
and leaving a relatively cool surface. Eventually the outer layers of the star expand outwards, increasing the size of
the star. As the layers continue to expand, the surface temperature continues to cool, forming a relatively large star
called a red giant.
In about 5 billion years, the Sun will become a red giant. A red giant is a star which has completely

The Role of Serotonin in Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia´s Cognitive symptoms include troubles with focusing or paying attention, using information
immediately after learning it, understanding information and using it to make decisions (Meltzer, The Role of
Serotonin in Schizophrenia, 2000).
Many areas of the brain, along with chemicals are affected in a schizophrenic patient. The structure along with the
function of the brain would be abnormal in comparison to a healthy functioning brain. The causes of many symptoms
contributing to schizophrenia are still unsure of, and are instead hypothesised.
Schizophrenic patients are thought to have higher dopamine levels in their brains (overactive dopamine system).
Many antipsychotics are designed to block dopamine receptors, and bind them, helping patients to improve and
experience less severe symptoms, further proving the dopamine hypothesis. It was also found that drugs that increase
dopamine levels (amphetamines) have caused more psychotics symptoms. This could partially result in a few
psychotic symptoms occurring in the illness (GROMISCH, 2013).
Research shows that there is a correlation between creative and dopamine receptor bindings in the thalamus (PHD,
2012). The thalamus relays and processes information such as visual and auditory information. It was found that both
creative minds and schizophrenics minds have lower dopamine receptors, this could result in why schizophrenics
have abnormal thought processes and why some normal functioning brains tend to be

v) We need to consider business strategy: will the process capacity be higher if Kristen offers only non customized
cookies of one type? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this alternative strategy compared to what Kristen
now plans?
The process capacity will not change in the short term if Kristen offers only non customized cookies. The case study
makes it clear that the process that Kristen follows requires specific amounts of time to be spent at each step.
However, in the long term, Kristen s capacity will increase as she becomes more adept at making the one type of
cookie she has elected to make. This will reduce the time required at some of the process steps (but not necessarily
all) and ultimately increase the output capacity her and her roommate are able to achieve.
Pros of non customized cookies:
Time spent shopping will be reduced, as will overall variability in price of ingredients.
Kristen and her roommate will become more efficient due to standardization
They will become much better at making one type of cookie rather than many; total flow time will

Essay about Medieval Warfare
The Medieval period was a time of noblemen who fought for love, honor, and country under a code of chivalry.
Chivalry comes from the French word cheval, chivalry means someone who fights from horseback. The term also
meant knighthood .(Matthews, Platt, Thomas p.234 235). In this period the nobility used war as a way to show their
power and hold their status by being professional soldiers. There were also lots of soldiers from the lower classes who
were led into battle under nobles. These soldiers fought for the nobleman to maintain their safety and land. The
soldiers rode into battle on their horses in full armor with weapons drawn ready to defeat their enemies one by one.
They laid siege castles for weeks and months at a time until the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were also larger weapons used to do damage to buildings and walls called siege weapons. Among these
weapons were trebuchets which were throwing machines and springalds which would launch large projectiles at
fortified walls (Prestwich p. 287) . Now that we know what weapons were being used, it is time to look at the tactics
that were involved. The archers, foot soldiers, and cavalry all had to work together in order to make the battle go
right. The army would be broken down into three formations of which cavalry, foot soldiers, and archers were
separated to attack at different times (Verbruggen p.209) . Each of these ranks of soldiers have their own job in the
battle. The archers would usually start the battle and try to cause a break in the enemy s infantry formation. Once
there was a break in formation the infantry men would attack the lines of the enemy until the breaks in formation got
larger. Finally the cavalry men would come in on horses and wreak havoc on the enemy s infantry. The battle must be
fought like this because if the infantry was to advance first they would meet the other infantry, and if the archers then
fired they would be more likely to injure their own troops. Or if the Cavalry was to charge first they would be met by
the opposing infantry s poleaxes and Halberds, thus killing their horses. A quick retreat was also a cause for lots of
deaths in medieval battles, because while the winning sides infantry was still attacking their cavalry

In Jane Austen s Persuasion love and family is a major thing I learned to see and control just because of this book.
Jane Austen is a very interesting woman. She is 7 out of 8 kids. Her sister and her Cassandra were very close. Both
had plenty of chances of marring and having a family. By 25, she had written 3 books, Persuasion not being one of
them. She had written her last book in 1818, Persuasion. In my eyes Jane was a normal England girl. She was homed
school, had a big loving family, and perused her dream. She didn t get the respect she deserved, but did write pretty
good books. Jane passed away July 18. 1817, she died of Addison s disease which is a deadly disease. Jane Austen

In 1815 Emma was published then Austen began Persuasion and finished the following year. Soon her health became
bad; she had gotten Addison s disease. Henery bought Susan back, and Jane renamed it to Catherine. She soon wrote
her will, and Cassandra and Jane moved to Winchester. July 18, 1817 Jane passed away she was 41. Her grave site
never gave her props of being an author. Persuasion and Northanger Abby were published in December 1817. Henery
gave her a biographical notice saying she was the author of all these great books. (Sutherland) Some love her some
hate her, but Jane Austen is actually loved by many. Some call her a heroine and a heroine is a woman admired of
idealized for her courage, outstand achievements, or noble qualities. She just might be a hero to some people. She is
very relevant because she talks about stuff that people go through till this day. Like love, money, friendship, and
family. I ve read a lot of websites and they all say she writes with a great sense of irony, humor, and realism. She had
real life characters, and real life situations. Who wouldn t love an author like that who talks about stuff that we are
going through, plus she died in 1817. Like people went through what we did almost 200 hundred years ago! You also

Alleviation Of Poverty In Developing Countries
Alleviation of poverty is one of the major goals of developing countries and international assistance agencies. Poverty
eradication and promoting sustainable development are the two most important challenges faced by the world. For the
achievement of this goal raising education levels, offering comprehensive medical services, improving lifestyles, and
a nation s openness to trade and investment are the important objectives that needs more attention. Poverty leads to
stagnant economies. Trade benefits are different in every country and some developing nations do not get positive
impacts of volume of their exports. Poverty is not only lack of income, it includes various concepts such as social,
economic, and political elements. Developing countries depend upon economic and national growth for the
eradication of poverty. Rural areas have poorer access to education and health but people usually live in healthier and
safer environments. (wadel 2016)
Developing countries have become convinced that trade can have significant effects on their total income and on their
development. Most believe that the effects of climate change will be particularly damaging to poor countries, while
some of the measures proposed to mitigate it could provide significant financial benefits. Although they are not the
most important or direct policy instruments against poverty, the outcomes of trade and climate change negotiations
matter. Some countries made gains on agriculture and

20th Century American Politics
Over the course of the 20th century, the people located in what is now modern day Slovakia experienced immense
political transformation. Before the end of World War I, the Slovakian people were part of the Austro Hungarian
Empire. When the empire dissolved, two republics were formed creating Czechoslovakia until it too was dismantled
by political demonstrations in the 1970s and 1980s. However, this volatile nature settled down when Slovakia became
its own independent state in 1993. Though the state is relatively young, it is still an imperative component of the
European Union today and this democracy is seen as functioning tremendously well nowadays. Slovakia s main
political policy tends to focus around cultural issues, which has negatively impacted the nation state with periods of
corruption and minority rights violations. However, since 2002, these concerns started to turn ... Show more content

BP and the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Case Study Tamatha French Management 6000 Hawaii Pacific University
Introduction and Background On April 20, 2010, the petroleum industry suffered the largest maritime disaster oil spill
in its history known as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The Deepwater Horizon oil rig that had been working on a
well for BP in the Gulf exploded and went up in flames. Subsequently, massive amounts of oil spilled out into the
water, threatening the marine life and those living on the shore. The fire burned for 36 hours before the rig sank into
the ocean, leaking dangerous chemicals into the water. Hydrocarbons and oil continued to leak into the Gulf of
Mexico for 87 days before they managed to seal the well. The Gulf spill, which left 11 workers dead and 17 injured, is
about the size of Rhode Island, running across the northern Gulf of Mexico between the mouth of the Mississippi
River and Florida. It runs wide, threatening the coastlines, and deep, traveling beneath about 5,000 feet of water and
13,000 feet under the seabed, (Emami, 2010). BP faced an angry uproar from the media, consumers, and
environmentalists all over the world. The economy and the environment suffered greatly because of this incident. As
investigations began, speculations quickly arose about the morals and capability of the company. The one positive
image of BP had been shattered. Customers lost faith in the company and criticized the actions of its executives. Tony

George Gascoigne s For That He Looked Not Upon Her
For That He Looked Not Upon Her is a poem written by 16th century poet George Gascoigne. In the poem,
Gascoigne uses sonnet form to organize his work. Next, he uses strong diction to help convey the attitude of the
speaker. Finally, Gascoigne uses imagery to bring the words to life through vivid analogies. Gascoigne effectively
uses form, strong diction, and active imagery to develop the complex tone of the speaker. Gascoigne uses form to
develop the complex attitude of the speaker. This poem takes the form of a Shakespearean Sonnet. Because of the
form he chooses to use, this poem can be broken into three quatrains with a couplet to end the poem. In each of the
quatrains, Gascoigne depicts a different tone, which adds to the complexity of the ... Show more content on

In the second and third quatrains, the speaker uses analogies to describe why he wouldn t return to his lover. In each
of the analogies, Gascoigne uses an animal longing for their object of desire. In the first second quatrain, it is a mouse
that doesn t not fall for the same trap it once escaped from. In the third quatrain, it is the fly that will not be scorched
by the same flame twice. In both analogies, the subjects escape from a dangerous conflict, only to want to return to
that conflict again, as the desire is one that the subject needs to survive. By using this type of application to show the
speaker s conflict, the speaker better shows and develops their attitude towards the main subject of the poem. The
imagery in these analogies helps to create the complex attitude of the speaker because by using the analogy, the reader
is able to connect the speaker s feelings to a real life situation. The audience is able to better understand the scenario
because the author compared it to an everyday scenario that can be easily pictured. Gascoigne skillfully uses imagery
in the form of analogies to convey the complex attitude of the

The Many Languages of Australia and New Zealand
As of 2013, there are many languages spoken both in Australia and New Zealand. Having a history dating as far as the
18th century, both countries constitute the Austral realm. Within its many aspects, one of the most notorious is its
language. Known by the humorous effect some of its sentences and words provoke in people, the language of the
Austral realm has helped shape the identity of Australia as well as New Zealand and has become an essential spectrum
of their culture.
In spite of its variations and the reasons behind its current status, this research paper will be focusing upon the four
main languages of the Austral realm: English, New Zealand s and Australia s sign language, Australian Indigenous
language and the Maori language in New Zealand. Each language has impacted the Austral realm in its own way and
will be viewed both individually and in comparison within the realm s two states. English s history, what constitutes
the signs in New Zealand s sign language, Australian accent... all of them are part of a culture both beautiful and
unique and should, therefore, be treated with the same care as one would treat any relic.
The Austral realm s languages are viewed by its people as more than only an idiom. Its evolution throughout decades
of history has transformed both Australia and New Zealand into a unique society, filled with a mixture of words and
idioms such as go for a burn and dog s breakfast, both of which exemplifies some of the reasons of the worldwide

Violence Against Oppression Research Paper
Oppression has been a controversial issue for decades. Oppression is the state of being subject or unjust treatment or
control. People respond to oppression in the way they feel that is right. There are 2 ways people can respond to
oppression which are by violence or nonviolence. Most people respond to oppression with physical violence because
they think it s the right way. Violence against oppression. Oppression makes people feel angry, disrespected and
makes them feel less human than others. When people feel that way, it can cause them to get violent against their
oppressors. Violence is not the right way to deal with the oppression. Like the notorious saying two wrongs don t
make a right . If you attack back with violence, the situation

Compare And Contrast Lincoln And Nathan Forrest
Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest are remembered as very influential leaders during the time of the Civil
War. Though one may argue the morals of one may have been better than the other, both Lincoln and Forrest left
lasting influences throughout and after the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln held the position of United States president
during the Civil War while Nathan Bedford Forrest held the position of general for the Confederate Army.
Both Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest were influenced by their early lives. Abraham Lincoln was born
in Hardin County, Kentucky on February 12, 1809. Lincoln s family was very poor and uneducated (Burlingame,
N.D.). Lincoln s father, Thomas Lincoln, was illiterate, and his mother, Nancy Hanks, passed away when Lincoln was
just nine years old. After Lincoln s mother passed away, his father married Sarah Bush Johnston. Lincoln s stepmother
was a smart woman who pushed Lincoln s education (Burlingame, N.D.). Lincoln s father, mother, and stepmother
would be considered major factors in Lincoln s success later on in his adult life. Nathan Bedford Forrest was born in
Chapel Hill, Tennessee on July 13, 1821. Forrest s father, a blacksmith, died when Forrest was just sixteen years old.

Forrest effectively withdrew from Fort Donelson, even subsequent to being cornered by General Ulysses S. Allow. In
April 1864, Forrest caught the government army at Fort Pillow. Forrest absurdly slaughtered 200 Union troops, the
majority of them being African Americans who were previous slaves ( Nathan Bedford Forrest , 2009). This event
would later be known as Forrest s most controversial act, especially since he was a major supporter of the K.K.K.
Forrest s left the influence of a hero on the south, but the influence of a racist murderer on the north ( Nathan Bedford

They have a very good balance between their debt financing and the assets they have on hand (dollartree.com, 2013).
With a debt/equity ratio of 65.10% in 2013, this puts them in a good position for using the free cash flow they have to
research and see what areas they could make improvements in. It seems that the most significant assets that Dollar
Tree has is in their inventories. This is the largest part of their assets. They also have some intangible assets that
account for about 35% of their total assets. The liabilities that Dollar Tree has are in the form of accounts payable.
They do not have very much long term debt. Their long term debt accounts for less than 10% of the total liabilities.
Dollar General Dollar General has a lot of revenue. In 2013, they reported $16,200,000. The main assets for this
company are their inventory. In 2013, their inventory assets were recorded at $2,397,200. No one can argue the fact
that they are not making money. Even though they are making money, Dollar General has a high debt/equity ratio
(dollargeneral.com, 2013). This is due in part to the expansion of their business into the supermarket industry. With
going into this industry, it means having to use debt to open up new stores and all the costs associated with opening a
new business in a different industry. While the debt is high, they still have a lot of revenue each year. I do not see
having a lot of debt for Dollar General

Behn s Infatuation Between Amer-Indians And Oroonoko
Although Aphra Behn s infatuation with both the Amer Indians of Suriname and Oroonoko may lead one to believe
that she is somewhat different from the general European population, her descriptions of said peoples reveal her true
emotions as those of the general European populace. As such, she projects the beliefs at the time, making her an
indicator of widely held attitudes towards the justification of enslavement, or the lack thereof, and the perception of
foreign peoples. Understanding Europeans attitudes during the 1600 s, when Oroonoko; or, The Royal Slave was
published, allows one to greater comprehend European slave owners religious motivations for enslavement. Behn
tries to justify the Amer Indians and Oroonoko s freedom by describing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are described as being, ...modest and bashful, very shy and nice of being touch d (Behn 39) and that, ...there is
not to be seen an indecent Action, or Glance... (Behn 39). These conservative qualities, qualities not typically found in
heathens, give them a pseudo Christian appeal, thereby justifying their lack of enslavement. Behn goes so far as to
compare them to, ...our first Parents before the Fall... (Behn 39) and even compares their aprons to what, ...Adam and
Eve did [with] the Fig leaves... (Behn 39). Oroonoko s Christian appeal is also capitalized on, ...all fine Wit is confin d
to the White Men, especially those of Christendom; and wou d have confess d that Oroonoko was as capable of
reigning well, and of governing as wisely, had as great a Soul, as politick Maxims, and was as sensible of power, as
any prince... (Behn 44). These instances characterize the Amer Indians and Oroonoko as nearly Christian. They also
provide justification for the Amer Indians lack of enslavement. Through both their Christian values and the direct
allusions to Christianity, Behn justifies their freedom based on them being too innocent, modest, and nearly Christian
to enslave. In other words, they are too human. She implies that subjecting the Amer Indians to such horrors would be
a tragedy, whereas the Africans lack such Christian (or

Five Things Affecting My Personal Culture
The first five things that come to mind that have affected my personal culture are family background, religious
affiliation, language, ethnicity, and friends. I come from a family with both parents and several siblings. Everyone in
my family is Christian, all of them having grown up in the church, typically Nazarene. My entire family is made of
Caucasian, native English speakers. Because of that, most of my friends are also native English speakers and all
Christian. There are also many life experiences that have affected my personal culture. Growing up in the church, I
was always involved in things like AWANA and church. As such, I was also able to go with youth groups on mission

Artemisia Gentileschi s Esther Before Ahasuerus Artemisia Gentileschi s Esther before Ahasuerus depicts the biblical scene of Esther going before the King of Persia unsummoned to plead for a request. The Visual Element/Principles of Design that stood out were line, tonal value, color, texture, emphasis, and unity/variety. The dominant visual element that stands out in this Gentileschi piece is emphasis/focal point. It is clear that she wants the viewers eyes to be drawn to Esther. She accomplishes this first through tonal value. Gentileschi uses chiaroscuro to illuminate Esther s face and causes her to be the focal point of the piece. Esther is also emphasized through implied line. The king and ladies eyes direct the viewer towards Esther. The asymmetric balance also accentuates Esther. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the article The Bus, a Modern Panacea by Lester Detroit, he explains that taking the VTA is a cure all solution. Detroit notes that the VTA is convenient because students do not have to drive around to find parking space. He revels that students can save money with the free Echo Pass that is provided with registered SJSU students. He also notes that taking the VTA helps with the environmental problems because it solves traffic congestion, rising oil consumption, and carbon pollution. With Detroit s statement, I agree with him that the VTA is a cure all solution because it saves money, has health benefits, and is environmentally friendly. • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Cultural Appropriation Cultural appropriation is a crime in 2017. The Kardashian family is constantly under criticism for cultural appropriation, as Khloé Kardashian has been accused of appropriating Native American headdresses, while Kylie Jenner has come under fire more than once for wearing cornrows. Kendall Jenner s Pepsi commercial, where she quelled a protest by offering a soda to a police officer, was lambasted as offensive and tone deaf. These are the scenarios that the word appropriation brings to mind: privileged young women and cultural insensitivity. In I Can t Stop Thinking through What Other People are Thinking , David Shields describes a wholly different cast of appropriators: artists, writers, and composers. In his essay, Shields unleashes his frustrations regarding the country s negative attitude towards appropriation and borrowing. He asserts that there s no such thing as originality , that all life on earth...is built upon appropriation and reuse of the pre existing (Shields 736). Shields utilizes a multitude of examples to illustrate and support his points. Musicians from Mozart to Bob Dylan have utilized content or taken inspiration from other artists. Shields shows that borrowing has been with us from the beginning , citing the New Testament and Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra as composites of numerous sources (740). His essay demonstrates that borrowing is prevalent in music and writing, as artists take inspiration from preceding artists and from their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My main objective is to fully diagnose the situation by gathering and organizing all the relevant information. I aim to do so by building credibility, fostering a positive relationship with the parties, and educating them about the mediation process while securing their commitment to this process. In order to achieve this act it will require broad psychological control and people management. Over the course of mediation procedure I will apply the different elements of principled negotiation to achieve an agreement that is competent and improves the existing hostile relationship of both parties. Agreement An essential element to the operation of the mediation process is that both parties agree and consent to the intervention before preparatory activities begin. Therefore, a clearly written agreement should be drafted. I plan to draft this document with the input from all parties, in order to aid interpretation and minimise future ambiguity. The document will describe the clear intent and agreement between the parties and will be signed by all parties and their counsels. The agreement will pay particular focus on the following points: Agreement to commit to mediation Each individual party must use its best efforts to comply with the reasonable requests made by me in order to ensure a punctual and expeditious determination ... Network Security And The Security Hospital Network Security With a multitude of changes occurring in the technology field, it is critical that hospitals maintain the highest levels of security for their internal network as well as their public access network. Hospitals contain vital information about patients, treatment styles, employees and staff, as well as pharmaceuticals that are kept on the premises. The importance of protecting this information cannot be understated and a breach in security could cause a breakdown in all areas of the network, having a catastrophic effect on the entire hospital. One of the most important aspects of network security is a strong network security model. The network security model consists of seven layers that work together to provide the strongest possible security for the network. The seven layers are the physical layer, the vlan layer, the software layer, the user layer, the administrative layer, and the IT department layer. A network security model that is well thought out and designed allows the network security team to analyze and maintain the network and determine if there has been a breach and the location of the breach. The first layer of the network security model, the physical layer, pertains to physical security. This entails the prevention of a physical attack on servers and other devices connected to the network. The Sound And The Fury Analysis In The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner the representation of populations with inter family conflict is expressed through the differing character explanations in their designated sections. The novel provides an insight to the mind and memory comprehension of different mental capacities; however, how and why is a social group represented in a particular way? The Sound and the Fury is divided into four specific sections that are devoted to the minds of four different characters, specifically Benjamin, Quentin, Jason, and the unknown chapter. The first chapter is Benjamin s chapter, this chapter is spent mainly shifting from the present time and the past. Faulkner utilized Benjamin s different mindset to provide the reader with an accurate thought pattern. This constant shift allows for the reader to connect to Benjamin s understanding and experiences. The second chapter belongs to Quentin, this chapter gives the insight of Quentin s life experiences and the causes of his imminent death. Faulkner once again switches from present to past in this chapter; however, the past memories connect to the ending of his chapter where he ends his life. The third chapter is from the viewpoint of Jason and all of the problems that he is left with from the actions of his siblings. The final chapter is neither devoted to just one person or to all problems of the family, instead the final chapter encapsulates the hardships that the family faces as a whole. The larger the mass, the quicker it will die out, whereas stars which are no more than half the size of our Sun can live up to hundreds of billion years. However no matter how large the star is, they all begin their lives in a nursery known as a molecular cloud. A molecular cloud is a giant condensation of dust and molecular gas. They are regions of relatively dense interstellar gas and dust with hydrogen molecules as well as carbon and silicate materials forming the primary constituents. Helium and small amounts of heavier elements are also found within the cloud. Molecular clouds are very cold and dark regions with typical temperatures of between 10 and 50 Kelvin. The mass of a star is the determining factor of how long it lives. A red dwarf star is a star about half the size of our Sun. Due to its extremely low fusion rate, it is estimated that they could last for 10 trillion years. A medium sized star like our Sun spends its main sequence stage up to 10 billion years. Stars like our Sun, which are no more than 1.44 solar masses, will undergo fusion of hydrogen into helium. Over its life time the star slowly uses its supply of hydrogen by fusing it into helium. These reactions require high temperatures. Eventually the star will completely fuse hydrogen into helium in its core leaving inadequate amounts of thermal pressure to balance gravity. This will cause the centre of the star to contract to compensate for the heat energy lost. As this slow contraction continues, the core temperature, density, and pressure of the star continues to increase. As the star shrinks it becomes so dense that it starts to compress helium. This results in the star to swell due to the hot core and leaving a relatively cool surface. Eventually the outer layers of the star expand outwards, increasing the size of the star. As the layers continue to expand, the surface temperature continues to cool, forming a relatively large star called a red giant. In about 5 billion years, the Sun will become a red giant. The Role of Serotonin in Schizophrenia Schizophrenia´s Cognitive symptoms include troubles with focusing or paying attention, using information immediately after learning it, understanding information and using it to make decisions (Meltzer, The Role of Serotonin in Schizophrenia, 2000). Many areas of the brain, along with chemicals are affected in a schizophrenic patient. The structure along with the function of the brain would be abnormal in comparison to a healthy functioning brain. The causes of many symptoms contributing to schizophrenia are still unsure of, and are instead hypothesised. Schizophrenic patients are thought to have higher dopamine levels in their brains (overactive dopamine system). Many antipsychotics are designed to block dopamine receptors, and bind them, helping patients to improve and experience less severe symptoms, further proving the dopamine hypothesis. It was also found that drugs that increase dopamine levels (amphetamines) have caused more psychotics symptoms. This could partially result in a few psychotic symptoms occurring in the illness (GROMISCH, 2013). Research shows that there is a correlation between creative and dopamine receptor bindings in the thalamus (PHD, 2012). The thalamus relays and processes information such as visual and auditory information. It was found that both creative minds and schizophrenics minds have lower dopamine receptors, this could result in why schizophrenics have abnormal thought processes and why some normal functioning brains tend to be ... Chivalry comes from the French word cheval, chivalry means someone who fights from horseback. The term also meant knighthood .(Matthews, Platt, Thomas p.234 235). In this period the nobility used war as a way to show their power and hold their status by being professional soldiers. There were also lots of soldiers from the lower classes who were led into battle under nobles. These soldiers fought for the nobleman to maintain their safety and land. Among these weapons were trebuchets which were throwing machines and springalds which would launch large projectiles at fortified walls (Prestwich p. 287) . Now that we know what weapons were being used, it is time to look at the tactics that were involved. The archers, foot soldiers, and cavalry all had to work together in order to make the battle go right. The army would be broken down into three formations of which cavalry, foot soldiers, and archers were separated to attack at different times (Verbruggen p.209) . Each of these ranks of soldiers have their own job in the battle. The archers would usually start the battle and try to cause a break in the enemy s infantry formation. Once there was a break in formation the infantry men would attack the lines of the enemy until the breaks in formation got larger. Finally the cavalry men would come in on horses and wreak havoc on the enemy s infantry. The battle must be fought like this because if the infantry was to advance first they would meet the other infantry, and if the archers then fired they would be more likely to injure their own troops. Or if the Cavalry was to charge first they would be met by the opposing infantry s poleaxes and Halberds, thus killing their horses. Bp And The Gulf Of Mexico Oil Spill Case Study BP and the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Case Study Tamatha French Management 6000 Hawaii Pacific University Introduction and Background On April 20, 2010, the petroleum industry suffered the largest maritime disaster oil spill in its history known as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The Deepwater Horizon oil rig that had been working on a well for BP in the Gulf exploded and went up in flames. Subsequently, massive amounts of oil spilled out into the water, threatening the marine life and those living on the shore. The fire burned for 36 hours before the rig sank into the ocean, leaking dangerous chemicals into the water. Hydrocarbons and oil continued to leak into the Gulf of Mexico for 87 days before they managed to seal the well. The Gulf spill, which left 11 workers dead and 17 injured, is about the size of Rhode Island, running across the northern Gulf of Mexico between the mouth of the Mississippi River and Florida. It runs wide, threatening the coastlines, and deep, traveling beneath about 5,000 feet of water and 13,000 feet under the seabed, (Emami, 2010). BP faced an angry uproar from the media, consumers, and environmentalists all over the world. The economy and the environment suffered greatly because of this incident. Gascoigne uses form to develop the complex attitude of the speaker. This poem takes the form of a Shakespearean Sonnet. In the second and third quatrains, the speaker uses analogies to describe why he wouldn t return to his lover. In each of the analogies, Gascoigne uses an animal longing for their object of desire. In the first second quatrain, it is a mouse that doesn t not fall for the same trap it once escaped from. In the third quatrain, it is the fly that will not be scorched by the same flame twice. In both analogies, the subjects escape from a dangerous conflict, only to want to return to that conflict again, as the desire is one that the subject needs to survive. By using this type of application to show the speaker s conflict, the speaker better shows and develops their attitude towards the main subject of the poem. The imagery in these analogies helps to create the complex attitude of the speaker because by using the analogy, the reader is able to connect the speaker s feelings to a real life situation. The audience is able to better understand the scenario because the author compared it to an everyday scenario that can be easily pictured.
