DNA News Article Summary
Name of Article: DNA Evidence Ties Inmate to 1994 Milwaukee Homicide
The article that I found discusses how DNA evidence was used to convict a suspect after twenty years under investigation. The
homicide case was recently closed on the rape and murder of Ophelia Preston, a 24 year old female in Milwaukee County.
Preston was deaf and mute and also suffered from a cocaine addiction, which led her to meeting Melvin Lee Jones. Jones is the
man that investigators suspected of murdering Ophelia who was already serving a sentence for assaulting another woman in
2001. Preston s case was similar to the case that convicted Jones which made him an even bigger suspect. In a series of other

What Is The Rebel Belle Character Analysis
The book I chose to read for the fourth quarter is called Rebel Belle . This book was written by Rachel Hawkins. I was excited to
read this book because the cover looked very girly and it seemed like a book I would be interested to read. This book is about a
girl named Harper Jane Price, whose life is suddenly changed forever, all because she forgot to put on her favorite lip gloss. On
the night of the Homecoming dance, Harper is expecting to win the title of Homecoming Queen, dance the night away, and leave
feeling happier than ever. But this plan didn t exactly work out in her favor. She goes to the bathroom to freshen up and soon is
faced with a dying janitor, a teacher with a scimitar, and an experience that will change her life forever. ... Show more content on

As an Oracle, he is highly valuable, and many other people want to take advantage of his powers. Saylor Stark is David s aunt
and she adopted him when he was very young. Saylor is the most respected woman in Pine Grove because she is the head of
almost every important event or group, such as Cotillion. She is an elegant and classy woman who is also David s Mage, or
personal witch. The story is about a popular, girl named Harper Jane Price, whose life soon changes when she is trapped in the
bathroom with a dying janitor. Harper ran into the ladies restroom to put on her favorite lip gloss before the homecoming dance,
when the door was suddenly closed and locked by the janitor, Mr. Hall. He was panting and visibly wounded, and as she leaned
down to help him, he pulled himself up to kiss her, dying right after. Dr. DuPont, her history teacher, flew into the restroom with
a scimitar, ready to kill Harper. When he ran at Harper, an unknown super strength kicked in and Harper killed Dr. DuPont with
her stiletto heel. Harper walked back into the bathroom to get her lip gloss a little while later and she saw that both of their bodies

Sumerian Euphratean Dialect
Researchers would often to challenge Euphratean dialect or one substrate dialect. It has been proposed by them and others, that
the Sumerian dialect was initially that of the seeker and fisher people groups, who lived in the marshland and the Eastern Arabia
littoral locale, and were a piece of the Arabian bifacial culture. Reliable authentic records start much later; there are none in
Sumer of any sort that have been dated before Enmebaragesi (c. 26th century BC). Juris Zarins trusts the Sumerians lived along
the shoreline of Eastern Arabia, today s Persian Gulf district, before it overflowed toward the end of the Ice Age.
Sumerian progress took frame in the Uruk period (fourth thousand years BC), proceeding into the Jemdet Nasr and Early
Dynastic periods. Amid the third thousand years BC, a nearby social beneficial interaction created between the Sumerians, who
talked a dialect segregate, and Akkadian speakers, which included far reaching bilingualism. Sumerian culture appears to have
showed up as a full fledged progress, with no pre history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is without a doubt right, yet where we turned out badly was in regards to the tenants of both tracts as non Semitic. Jules
Oppert constantly kept up that the Sumerians were non Semitic, however around then it was enhanced that the Akkadians were

that the entire Babylonian tract should be called Akkad, as the first occupants appear to have been Semites, while the Sumerians

Kardell Paper Company Ethics Case
Background
The Kardell paper mill was established at the turn of the century on the Cherokee River in southeastern Ontario by the Kardell
family. By 1985, the Kardell Paper Co. had outgrown its original mill and had encompassed several facilities in different
locations, generating total revenues of $1.7 billion per year. The original mill continued to function and was the firm s largest
profit center. The Kardell family no longer owned shares in the firm, which had become a publicly traded company whose shares
were widely held.
Kardell Paper Co. was a firm with a record of reporting good profits and had a policy of paying generous bonuses to the chief
executive officer and other senior executives.

In raising his concerns in 1985, Jack pointed out that the Ministry of Environment, responding to the serious nature of concerns
raised by the sonox issue, was considering internal proposals from its staff that additional research be done into the sources and
implications of sonox. Given the early stage of work in this area, Jack could offer no indication of when, if ever, the Ministry
would enact new regulations to do with sonox. He argued, however, that the ground rules might change, as they had with
previous compounds, and that Kardell should give some thought to the worst case scenario of how the sonox issue could turn out
down the road.
Kardell s CEO was sympathetic to the concerns raised by Jack, a valued employee of the company who had proved himself in the
past by identifying many cost efficiency measures. The CEO felt obliged, however, to match Jack s concerns about sonox against
the substantial cost of refitting the plant. The CEO felt there simply was not enough data upon which to base such an important
decision, and he was wary of any external force that attempted to influence the company s affairs. The CEO told Jack, We simply
can t let these greens tell us how to run our business. While the CEO did not feel it would be appropriate for Kardell to adopt the
recommendations in Jack s report, the CEO did take the step

Karl Marx, Commodity Fetishism, An Objective, Valuable For...
To begin with I can t but mention that without assessing(considering, evaluating) Commodity Fetishism both from the points of
view of the philosophers of the past and economists and businessmen of the present it s not an easy task to investigate the
subject.
According to Karl Marx Commodity Fetishism is the perception of the social relationships involved in production as economic
relationships among the money and commodities exchanged in market trade .
In simple words it s the cult of the things selected and providing them with super valuation. Commodity Fetishism transforms
abstract, subjective aspects of economic value into real, objective, valuable for people things.
Let me say a few words about the human nature. Each of us is material. We are sure we need more than we really need to survive.
That s probably, the main reason why socialism was unable to compete with capitalism, especially former Soviet republics closed
for bright, new, modern or brand new trade marks. Big and small stuff becomes an integral part and an accompaniment(a
supplement) to a personality.
Speaking about the effects of Commodity Fetishism I should emphasize that they are not confined to the sphere of production but
permeate every sphere of social life. Social relationships become the property of things and the form of false consciousness
concealing real conditions.
The global effect of commodity fetishism is that we have become the society of consumers. We have reached the freedom for but
not

Gould And Lewis Twenty Lessons In Environmental Sociology
The authors of the book Twenty Lessons in Environmental Sociology , Kenneth Gould and Tammy Lewis, provide a critique on
the interactions of various social systems and ecosystems by many different scholars and institutions. A combination of neo
Marxist ideas are used as a base of the world system theory to create the system for the neoliberal theories (Gould and Lewis p.
39). The world system theory is looking into economic relationships based off of social changes that are occurring around the
world and determining whether the country is benefitting or not (Gould Lewis p.39). This theory is built upon the perspective of
the modernization theory; these societies are being directly affected by the lack of modernization within their ... Show more

These theories are closely related when looking at their end goals of wanting to change social institutions that will develop a
positive change in the environment. However, when examining the reflexive modernization theory in relation to environmental
issues, societies need to think more about what they don t want rather than want they do want. For example, when evaluating a
solution for polluted rivers, rather than looking at what is wanted to better the problem, society should look into what they do not
want and evaluate the issue from there. This is where a difference in theories is noted. Both theories show that the idea is not to
abandon capitalism, but rather renegotiate and reorganize the problem entirely (Gould and Lewis p.43). The system is then
broken down at the individual level and changes are made throughout the system into the institutional level. However, the
ecological theory looks to modernize the system as a whole, rather than radically changing it. The Cradle to Cradle Design by
McDonough and Braungart is an example of the ecological modernization theory of reintegrating products and wastes back into
society. Promoting this design of reintegration is represented at the individual level as products are being reused rather than
destroyed causing unnecessary wastes and pollution.

Of The Unknown In H. P. Lovecraft s The Shadow Of Innsmouth
The curiosity of the unknown is a common theme within H.P. Lovecraft s writings. Both The Shadow of Innsmouth, as well as
The Call of Cthulhu, have narrators that are curious and hungry for knowledge about the unknown. This curiosity and
accumulation of knowledge ultimately leads to the revelation of their true identities. In H.P. Lovecraft s The Shadow of
Innsmouth , the remarkably quiet town of Innsmouth sparked the nameless narrators interest with it s architecture and antiquity.
During the bus ride to Innsmouth, the narrator takes detailed note of all the architecture, describing it as bedraggled remains of a
circular green in the center (Lovecraft 283), and noting the lack of people walking throughout the town. The narrator is

Compare And Contrast Sixteen Candles And Ferris Bueller s...
1. After viewing both Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller s Day Off I would have to choose Sixteen Candles to be my favorite of
the two. My reasoning is because I feel the storyline and characters were developed better, allowing the audience to feel a greater
connection with the film. When comparing the two films, Sixteen Candles comes across as more angst driven, with a strong
female lead. Ferris Bueller s Day Off has an obvious strong male lead character, with more humor obvious throughout the film.
The overall tone of Sixteen Candles is less upbeat than Ferris Bueller. As the main character Samantha is struggling throughout
the film with the acceptance of her family forgetting her birthday, Ferris Bueller has no care in the world and refuses to be
defeated. The relationships in Ferris Bueller s Day Off are mainly friend to friend and student to authority. Sixteen Candles
depicts a more romantic aspect, with a love story being the main focus throughout.
2. Out of both of these films the one I find that strays mostly from John Hughes other teenage films in Ferris Bueller s Day Off.
Sixteen Candles, I found to be fitting with the other films because it has a strong female lead, teen angst, and a major love story
component. For example, Samantha and Jake at the end of the film kissing in the candle light. A dramatic end scene kiss has been
depicted in Pretty in Pink as well. Ferris Bueller s Day Off on the other hand, is something unlike any other John Hughes film. It
is witty, and fast paced, not focusing on teen angst or romance in any aspect. There are no love triangles, or finding out whether
two main characters will end up together. It takes another point of view from teenagers about being young and enjoying life
before it catches up with you. Ferris Bueller s Day Off also a strong theme of relationships with authority figures, which we only
see in the other John Hughes film, The Breakfast Club. An example of this in the film is between Ferris and Mr. Rooney. There is
constant conflict between them, one example is when Ferris has Cameron prank call Mr. Rooney s office. This shows not only
Ferris disrespect for authority, but Mr. Rooney s disrespect for Ferris.

Since it s becoming more and more a norm to order food, luxuries and other products online, Lagkagehuset could expand their

It s hard to determine what technological influences there is on Lagkagehuset, however if they were to establish a better
administrative system, in order to organize their regular and continuous deliveries, it could benefit them in the long run. A more
advanced system always contributes to every industry or company, and it would to Lagkagehuset as well. This, however, wouldn

My Salary Analysis
The common low that I would start out with is forty two dollars an hour and $89,320 a year. The highest I would be paid is
seventy two dollars an hour and $150,550 a year. The average pay for a pharmacist is fifty eight dollars an hour and $120,950 a

I will choose to stay around the Sugar Land, Houston area once I graduate. Compared to other cities, the annual salary that I will

average pay would increase by $16,000. With that being said my housing would increase by nine percent, groceries by thirty

Groupthink In 12 Angry Men
12 Angry Men, an influential and awarding winning film, is a unique movie that tells the story of twelve jurors who converse on
whether the defendant is guilty or not. Despite its old age and different setting, the movie is a film worth watching as it provides
real life scenarios and application of conflict management when confronted with a problem at hand and conflict from fellow
members. In fact, the movie adequately portrays the occurance of groupthink, types of conflicts seen in small groups, and ways
to resolve conflicts that ultimately influences how the conversation goes. 12 Angry Men does a spectacular job in enrapturing
audiences with the plot at hand and showing how issues can solved in order to reach a common goal. It is apparent from the
beginning of the movie that the defendant, an eighteen year old boy charged for murder, is viewed as guilty. However, there is
one juror among the twelve that views this differently, Juror Eight. In fact, Juror Eight s objection helps break the issue of
groupthink, the illusion of an agreement in order to minimize conflict, maximize cohesiveness, and reach a consensus without

followed by a conference between the two on a corner, at one of which they were joined by a third man (Katz) who left swiftly.
Suspecting the two men of casing a job, a stick up, the officer followed them and saw them rejoin the third man a couple of
blocks away in front of a store. The officer approached the three, identified himself as a policeman, and asked their names. The
men mumbled something, whereupon McFadden spun petitioner around, patted down his outside clothing, and found in his
overcoat pocket, but was unable to remove, a pistol. The officer ordered the three into the store. He removed petitioner s
overcoat, took out a revolver, and ordered the three to face the wall with their hands raised. He patted down the outer clothing of
Chilton and Katz and seized a revolver from Chilton s outside overcoat pocket. He did not put his hands under the outer garments
of Katz (since he discovered nothing in his pat down which might have been a weapon), or under petitioner s or Chilton s outer
garments until he felt the guns. The three were taken to the police station. Petitioner and Chilton were

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Enlargement
1. Introduction From the intergovernmental conferences of Rome, Nice, Amsterdam and Lisbon, as well as the lastest accession
of Croatia to the European Union (EU), it appears that the political imperative of the EU was, and still is, simultaneous
deepening and enlarging of the EU. Still, the question which burns in everyone s mind is can such policy be maintained pro
futuro and what is the trade off of such continuing policy for the EU Member States? Before the subject of deepening and
enlargement can be approached, one must have in mind that the processes of further integration of the Member States into the EU
and the enlargement of the EU depend on many economic, political and legal factors as well as certain practical concerns.
Consequently, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The division between the poor and the rich is becoming ever more emphasized and underlying political and social stress caused
by this fact alone can shake the core foundation of the EU as a monetary union. In addition, as more countries have a say in the
policy making, it becomes harder to reach consensus on future policies. Furthermore, it is becoming more and more evident that
the overall difference in national policy objectives, economic structures and potentials, financial constraints, and societal
preferences may lead to future conflicts amongst Member States. Therefore, it will become essential for the EU to introduce
effective political and economic mechanisms for tackling these future discords trough institutional framewoek, perhaps even in
moving towards federalization of the

Essay John Locke
In this essay I argue that the late philosopher Locke has the most compelling theory of metaphysics. First, I explain Locke s point
that all humans are born as Tabula Rasa, in order to gain basic understanding of where Locke begins his theory. Second, I discuss
how Locke argues how we obtain knowledge, empiricism and representationalism, and knowledge about the work varies between
strong and weak inferences. Third, I will provide counter examples to Locke s ideas, and will explain why these counter
examples work for Locke s theories provided. Finally, I address some of the ways that Locke might respond to my objections.
The following paragraph will be used to define and understand the concepts of the following key terms that Locke uses: ... Show

Locke furthers his own theory of this by stating that humans are not born with innate ideas (Matheis). With what Locke states, we
as humans can reason that we are born without any knowledge and everything that we learn is put onto our blank slate. The
Tabula Rasa is important because it also gives us a basic understanding to Locke s later arguments and theories. Locke argues
that if we all had an innate idea we wouldn t need to use reason to discover them because they would already be present in the
human mind. Although, Locke s idea about blank slates is a very logical idea, there are a few flaws within. Innate knowledge,
which was produced as an idea from Plato states that we already learned everything prior to being born, we are just simply
experiencing and recollecting knowledge from our soul that we had before our physical birth. Plato was not the only philosopher
that supported the idea of innate knowledge. Descartes also believed in innate knowledge over the Tabula Rasa, he believed in
the innate ideas of God. Kant also believed that we had a sense of time, space, causality and comparison from innate knowledge
(Al Rodhan). Locke then goes further into his theory by stating that all knowledge begins with sensory experiences. Locke states
that everything that is learned from our experience with objects. Since we are born as a Tabula Rasa we know nothing, so
knowledge is the most valuable key. Locke

The Pros And Cons Of Configuration Management Database
Due to a growing interest in adopting best practices across IT departments, particularly according to standards such as ITIL,
many organizations are now deciding to implement a configuration management database (CMDB). IT departments face
numerous challenges in providing dependable services that support a company s goals. Solving most of them requires a good
configuration management strategy: without knowing what s in your environment, you cannot hope to control it, maintain it, or
improve it. Configuration Management Database Itil history/overview Initially, Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
term derives from ITIL IT Infrastructure Library, which in turn is a set of best practices of divisions or companies, engaged in
providing services ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Configuration Management is applied to information systems, and not just to information technologies, the Configuration
Management Database (CMDB) can store and manage detailed information about users, IT organization personnel and business
structures. These Configuration Items are also subject to the Change Management process, for example, when hiring and firing
employees. All Configuration Items should be included in the CMDB, which tracks all IT components and the relationships
between them. In the most primitive form, the Configuration Management Database is a set of paper forms or spreadsheets. The
purpose of the Configuration Management process is to assist with managing the economic value of the IT services by supporting
a logical model of IT infrastructure and IT services and providing information about them to other business processes. This is
achieved through the monitoring, identification, control and provision of information on the Configuration Units and their
versions. The tasks of this process contain accurate registration of detailed information about IT components and services
provided by the organization, as well as providing accurate information and documentation to support other Service Management
processes

Betlie s Multiple Times Corrie Ten Boom
This attitude takes center stage at various points in the novel, especially during the sisters stays at the prison and concentration
camps. Multiple times Corrie hears Betsie speak of how sorry she felt for the German soldiers and how she wishes she could help
them see the err of their ways. Betsie s compassion towards her captors, assaulters, and enemies profoundly illustrates her love
for the human race and the desire she has that all know Christ. While in the Vught concentration camp, Betsie states, Corrie, if
people can be taught to hate, they can be taught to love! We must find a way, no matter how long it takes... . Betsie sees the
potential for goodness in everyone she meets despite their actions. Overall, these three themes contribute to the central message
of the novel. No matter how desperate a situation or the severity of tribulation, the love of God is greater still and His love
provides hope in times of need. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a whole, the novel contains a few weaknesses. The first weakness arises from the time difference between the events and the
writing of the novel. Corrie ten Boom wrote THE HIDING PLACE twenty years after the fact. It is extremely likely that the
events depicted in the novel are shades of what actually occurred. Memories fade and time distorts the reality of the past and
because of this, I feel that the book would have been more factually accurate had Corrie ten Boom written it much sooner.
Another weakness in the book derives itself from ten Boom s heavy reliance on her Christian faith. As I read the book, I felt that
some of the circumstances were glossed over and events were chocked up to being merely miracles. However, I do agree with
Corrie ten Boom s major premise throughout the novel that religion can play a crucial role during tough

My High School
When I began high school I couldn t wait for the four years to be over so I would not ever have to set foot in classroom again.
The idea of finishing thirteen years of school was all I could think of. I knew my parents expected me to finish strong. I knew I
would and do my best to finish strong enough to keep them off my back. The plan seemed simple enough. But, my sixteenth
birthday came during my sophomore year, that is the year everything that I thought I knew changed. My parents let me know that
I needed to earn my own spending money and found me a job. This was the day that I made a serious change. Of what I thought
my future should be.
My freshmen year of high school I did not expect much to change from middle school, just more work along with unwanted
stress of moving on to high school. I had to the wrong attitude going into my classes. I felt as if the teachers were all against me
and they all wanted me to fail or just torture me. The daily frustration of having to go to school everyday seemed to be
unbearable. I tried to fake being sick or to tired to go to school on a daily basis. All that got me through the seemingly endless
days was the thought of never having to step foot on a school campus again.
All I could focus on was that I was nearing that bright light at the end of the tunnel. I understand that people may not understand
how I got so burned out so quickly when it came to school. What I believe burned me out so quickly was the pressure. I love my

Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography
Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have stood the test of time and geography to remain
as vital and popular today as they were when first composed. Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply transcend time
and place and appeal to the core of human emotion. Who cannot feel a thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of
Beethoven s 9th Symphony, or shed a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence is La Vie En Rose,
literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French torch singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom,
the piece means seeing life through rose colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and even more perfect for
a world turned upside down because of World War II. At first, Piaf s colleagues and team did not think the song would be at all
successful, yet it became a favorite with audiences around the world, and Piaf s signature song (Bret, 2009). The song quickly
became so popular it was translated into several languages, and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many
different genres. Ironic since the words were almost hastily scribbled on a cocktail napkin while Piaf was drinking with her friend
Marianne Michel at a cafà on the Champs Elysees (Burke, 2011, p. 118). Also, besides over 50 artists interpreting and recording
the work, it was recently made into a stage play and surprisingly successful

Nile Kinnnick Research Paper
Although 8,398 Iowans died during World War II, the death of the University of Iowa s only Heisman Trophy winner shook the
state like no other wartime tragedy. Although College Football ranked him as the ninth greatest college football player of all time,
Nile Kinnick is perhaps best remembered, as Charles Bullard summed up in The Des Moines Register, for his strength of
character and his sacrifice to his country (Lidd).
Nile Kinnick was born on July 9, 1918 in Adel, Iowa, the grandson of a governor. He attended the University of Iowa after failing
a football tryout at Minnesota. At Iowa, Kinnick became the team s main passer. Kinnick played halfback and during his senior
year, played 402 minutes (of a possible 420) and was directly involved in 107 of Iowa s 130 points that season (Flatter). He was a
consensus first team All American and the only unanimous selection by the Associated Press. He was named the Big Ten MVP
and the Associated Press chose him (over athletes like Joe DiMaggio) as the 1939 AP Male Athlete of the Year (Hybl). ... Show

His acceptance speech has gone down as one of the most eloquent and moving speeches of all time, especially in light of his
ultimate fate. He said, If you ll permit me, I d like to make a comment which, in my mind, is indicative perhaps of the greater
significance of football and sports emphasis in general in this country. And that is I thank God I was warring on the gridirons of
the Midwest and not on the battlefields of Europe. I can speak confidently and positively that the players of this country would
much more, much rather struggle and fight to win the Heisman award than the Croix de Guerre (Lidd). After his speech, a
columnist from The Boston Globe wrote, The country is OK as long as it produces Nile Kinnicks. The football part is incidental

Raisin In The Sun Stereotypes
A Raisin in the Sun was written by Lorraine Hansberry. Lorraine was born in Chicago, Illinois where both of her parents were
active in the black community. When young, she had big time social injustice names like Jesse Owens and Duke Ellington come
to her house. Her parents contributed large sums of money to the NAACP and the Urban League. Lorraine and her family moved
to a white neighborhood in Chicago and was attacked by the neighbors. Although they were attacked, the Hansberry family
stayed until the court ordered them to leave. This case made it to the Supreme Court as Hansberry vs Lee, ruling restrictive
covenants illegal. Lorraine attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She broke the family tradition of going to a black
college. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First time the majority of the cast was African American. The thing that makes this piece so special is the decade in which she
wrote and this play. In the 1950s, it was portrayed as a good time for economy and blacks where content with their inferior status.
This play was a revolutionary work for this time in the 1950s. Most plays didn t depict what an actual black family goes through
on American Stage. African American roles before this play would be small, comedic roles and ethnic stereotypes. Hansberry
shows a black family in the light of reality where it was comedic, it was real life struggles. There were issues throughout the play
brought up such as poverty, discrimination, and the constitution of African American racial identity. This play shows the real life
tensions between the black and white societies. Not only is Hansberry talking about blacks in American but she has issues of
Africans anticolonial struggles as well. Another risky topic Hansberry shared in the play was feminism. The character Beneatha
showed that women could have ambitious dreams and goals as well. Women didn t have to depend on marriage and just become
a housewife, they could work hard for themselves. Even the topic of abortion was addressed even though it was illegal in this
error. Hansberry main point of the play was to focus on dreams. Every main character in the play had their own dream.
Materialistic dreams created problems in the family and happiness. Hansberry focus was to do what s best for your family and
continue to lift each other

High Cost Of A College Education Essay
Right now in our society a college education is no longer an option or privilege, but rather a necessity. We were practically raised
and conditioned to believe that we need a higher education in order to succeed in life. As opposed to generations of the past, high
school students today are unable to obtain the number of high paying jobs that were once available. In the post War 1 era, the city
of New York provided a free quality college education to many working class people (including immigrants) at the time when
they were effectively barred from attending most colleges. Harvard College was founded in 1636, the history of higher education
has been closely intertwined with the history of the United States economically, socially, and culturally. Both have generally been
associated with expanding opportunity but as college and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
$638 for High school graduates. The average price of college today is 90,000 for a four year of college, if college graduates put
away $462 a week the extra amount made then they could pay off college debt in about 16 years. It may seem like a lot, after
they have built up huge retirement fund and give themselves a better life. Only if students come to realize that if they went to a
secondary trade school it would be so expensive. High school graduates today are unable to obtain the number of high paying
jobs that were once available. My response to these statistics is that people approaching high school graduation should seriously
consider trade school, particularly if they are not at the top of their class. A traditional four year degree is not for everyone, and
trade school offers a pretty compelling career path, especially when considering the factors associated with a college education
outlined above.
Expanding opportunity, as colleges and universities have become less privileged of an elite few more of training ground for
Americans of all backgrounds including foreign

Title: The Effect of Substrate Concentration, Enzyme Concentration, pH and Temperature on Enzyme Activity
Abstract: In the following experiments we will measure precise amounts of potato extract as well as Phenylthiourea, combined
with or without deionized water and in some instances change the temperature and observe and record the reaction. We will also
investigate the different levels of prepared pH on varying samples of the potato extract and the Phenylthiourea and record the
results. We will answer question such as what is the best temperature for optimum temperature reaction as well as the best pH
level for the same reaction.

After measuring equal amounts of distilled water and either adding or subtracting catechol which we referred to as the substrate
some reactions was seen immediately. After which we were able to get data that supported my original hypothesis that in the
addition of substrate and an enzyme the reaction would be present in varying degrees dependent on whether a temperature
change was provided or not. In the second part of the experiment we were testing the inhibition action of Catechol Oxidase at
different levels in several tubes of varying samples of potato extract, phenylthiourea (PTU) and distilled water. The experiment
showed that (PTU) bonded with the extract and the water causing a reaction whereas there was no reaction in tube # 1 where
there was an equal amount of everything in the tube. And test tube # 3 was the control tube where the (PTU) was eliminated as to
observe if there was any reaction at all. Of course with the whole experiment we had to be very careful as to add the catechol last
to ensure no premature reaction. It was hypothesized that (PTU) is a non competitive inhibitor and doubling the substrate will
have no reversal effect. In the exercise # 2 we observed the effect of substrate concentration, enzyme concentration, pH and
temperature on enzyme activity. All the data showed that once potato extract was added to catechol and water the reaction varied
dependent on the level of catechol. As in

I was excited to read this book because the cover looked very girly and it seemed like a book I would be interested to read. It has been proposed by them and others, that the Sumerian dialect was initially that of the seeker and fisher people groups, who lived in the marshland and the Eastern Arabia littoral locale, and were a piece of the Arabian bifacial culture. Reliable authentic records start much later; there are none in Sumer of any sort that have been dated before Enmebaragesi (c. 26th century BC). Juris Zarins trusts the Sumerians lived along the shoreline of Eastern Arabia, today s Persian Gulf district, before it overflowed toward the end of the Ice Age. Sumerian progress took frame in the Uruk period (fourth thousand years BC), proceeding into the Jemdet Nasr and Early Dynastic periods. Amid the third thousand years BC, a nearby social beneficial interaction created between the Sumerians, who talked a dialect segregate, and Akkadian speakers, which included far reaching bilingualism. Given the early stage of work in this area, Jack could offer no indication of when, if ever, the Ministry would enact new regulations to do with sonox. He argued, however, that the ground rules might change, as they had with previous compounds, and that Kardell should give some thought to the worst case scenario of how the sonox issue could turn out down the road. Kardell s CEO was sympathetic to the concerns raised by Jack, a valued employee of the company who had proved himself in the past by identifying many cost efficiency measures. The CEO felt obliged, however, to match Jack s concerns about sonox against the substantial cost of refitting the plant. • 7. Karl Marx, Commodity Fetishism, An Objective, Valuable For... To begin with I can t but mention that without assessing(considering, evaluating) Commodity Fetishism both from the points of view of the philosophers of the past and economists and businessmen of the present it s not an easy task to investigate the subject. According to Karl Marx Commodity Fetishism is the perception of the social relationships involved in production as economic relationships among the money and commodities exchanged in market trade . In simple words it s the cult of the things selected and providing them with super valuation. Commodity Fetishism transforms abstract, subjective aspects of economic value into real, objective, valuable for people things. Let me say a few words about the human nature. Each of us is material. We are sure we need more than we really need to survive. That s probably, the main reason why socialism was unable to compete with capitalism, especially former Soviet republics closed for bright, new, modern or brand new trade marks. Big and small stuff becomes an integral part and an accompaniment(a supplement) to a personality. Speaking about the effects of Commodity Fetishism I should emphasize that they are not confined to the sphere of production but permeate every sphere of social life. Social relationships become the property of things and the form of false consciousness concealing real conditions. The global effect of commodity fetishism is that we have become the society of consumers. We have reached the freedom for but not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Gould And Lewis Twenty Lessons In Environmental Sociology The authors of the book Twenty Lessons in Environmental Sociology , Kenneth Gould and Tammy Lewis, provide a critique on the interactions of various social systems and ecosystems by many different scholars and institutions. A combination of neo Marxist ideas are used as a base of the world system theory to create the system for the neoliberal theories (Gould and Lewis p. 39). The world system theory is looking into economic relationships based off of social changes that are occurring around the world and determining whether the country is benefitting or not (Gould Lewis p.39). This theory is built upon the perspective of the modernization theory; these societies are being directly affected by the lack of modernization within their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These theories are closely related when looking at their end goals of wanting to change social institutions that will develop a positive change in the environment. However, when examining the reflexive modernization theory in relation to environmental issues, societies need to think more about what they don t want rather than want they do want. For example, when evaluating a solution for polluted rivers, rather than looking at what is wanted to better the problem, society should look into what they do not want and evaluate the issue from there. This is where a difference in theories is noted. Both theories show that the idea is not to abandon capitalism, but rather renegotiate and reorganize the problem entirely (Gould and Lewis p.43). The system is then broken down at the individual level and changes are made throughout the system into the institutional level. However, the ecological theory looks to modernize the system as a whole, rather than radically changing it. The Cradle to Cradle Design by McDonough and Braungart is an example of the ecological modernization theory of reintegrating products and wastes back into society. Promoting this design of reintegration is represented at the individual level as products are being reused rather than destroyed causing unnecessary wastes and pollution. ... • 12. Compare And Contrast Sixteen Candles And Ferris Bueller s... 1. After viewing both Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller s Day Off I would have to choose Sixteen Candles to be my favorite of the two. My reasoning is because I feel the storyline and characters were developed better, allowing the audience to feel a greater connection with the film. When comparing the two films, Sixteen Candles comes across as more angst driven, with a strong female lead. Ferris Bueller s Day Off has an obvious strong male lead character, with more humor obvious throughout the film. The overall tone of Sixteen Candles is less upbeat than Ferris Bueller. As the main character Samantha is struggling throughout the film with the acceptance of her family forgetting her birthday, Ferris Bueller has no care in the world and refuses to be defeated. The relationships in Ferris Bueller s Day Off are mainly friend to friend and student to authority. Sixteen Candles depicts a more romantic aspect, with a love story being the main focus throughout. 2. Out of both of these films the one I find that strays mostly from John Hughes other teenage films in Ferris Bueller s Day Off. Sixteen Candles, I found to be fitting with the other films because it has a strong female lead, teen angst, and a major love story component. For example, Samantha and Jake at the end of the film kissing in the candle light. A dramatic end scene kiss has been depicted in Pretty in Pink as well. Ferris Bueller s Day Off on the other hand, is something unlike any other John Hughes film. It is witty, and fast paced, not focusing on teen angst or romance in any aspect. There are no love triangles, or finding out whether two main characters will end up together. It takes another point of view from teenagers about being young and enjoying life before it catches up with you. Ferris Bueller s Day Off also a strong theme of relationships with authority figures, which we only see in the other John Hughes film, The Breakfast Club. An example of this in the film is between Ferris and Mr. Rooney. There is constant conflict between them, one example is when Ferris has Cameron prank call Mr. Rooney s office. This shows not only Ferris disrespect for authority, but Mr. Rooney s disrespect for Ferris. 3. Breaking the fourth wall is something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The men mumbled something, whereupon McFadden spun petitioner around, patted down his outside clothing, and found in his overcoat pocket, but was unable to remove, a pistol. The officer ordered the three into the store. He removed petitioner s overcoat, took out a revolver, and ordered the three to face the wall with their hands raised. He patted down the outer clothing of Chilton and Katz and seized a revolver from Chilton s outside overcoat pocket. He did not put his hands under the outer garments of Katz (since he discovered nothing in his pat down which might have been a weapon), or under petitioner s or Chilton s outer garments until he felt the guns. • 22. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Enlargement 1. Introduction From the intergovernmental conferences of Rome, Nice, Amsterdam and Lisbon, as well as the lastest accession of Croatia to the European Union (EU), it appears that the political imperative of the EU was, and still is, simultaneous deepening and enlarging of the EU. Still, the question which burns in everyone s mind is can such policy be maintained pro futuro and what is the trade off of such continuing policy for the EU Member States? Before the subject of deepening and enlargement can be approached, one must have in mind that the processes of further integration of the Member States into the EU and the enlargement of the EU depend on many economic, political and legal factors as well as certain practical concerns. Consequently, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, it is becoming more and more evident that the overall difference in national policy objectives, economic structures and potentials, financial constraints, and societal preferences may lead to future conflicts amongst Member States. Therefore, it will become essential for the EU to introduce effective political and economic mechanisms for tackling these future discords trough institutional framewoek, perhaps even in moving towards federalization of the ... • 23. Essay John Locke In this essay I argue that the late philosopher Locke has the most compelling theory of metaphysics. First, I explain Locke s point that all humans are born as Tabula Rasa, in order to gain basic understanding of where Locke begins his theory. Second, I discuss how Locke argues how we obtain knowledge, empiricism and representationalism, and knowledge about the work varies between strong and weak inferences. Third, I will provide counter examples to Locke s ideas, and will explain why these counter examples work for Locke s theories provided. Finally, I address some of the ways that Locke might respond to my objections. The following paragraph will be used to define and understand the concepts of the following key terms that Locke uses: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Locke furthers his own theory of this by stating that humans are not born with innate ideas (Matheis). With what Locke states, we as humans can reason that we are born without any knowledge and everything that we learn is put onto our blank slate. The Tabula Rasa is important because it also gives us a basic understanding to Locke s later arguments and theories. Locke argues that if we all had an innate idea we wouldn t need to use reason to discover them because they would already be present in the human mind. Although, Locke s idea about blank slates is a very logical idea, there are a few flaws within. Innate knowledge, which was produced as an idea from Plato states that we already learned everything prior to being born, we are just simply experiencing and recollecting knowledge from our soul that we had before our physical birth. Plato was not the only philosopher that supported the idea of innate knowledge. Descartes also believed in innate knowledge over the Tabula Rasa, he believed in the innate ideas of God. Kant also believed that we had a sense of time, space, causality and comparison from innate knowledge (Al Rodhan). Locke then goes further into his theory by stating that all knowledge begins with sensory experiences. Locke states that everything that is learned from our experience with objects. Since we are born as a Tabula Rasa we know nothing, so knowledge is the most valuable key. Locke ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Configuration Management Database Due to a growing interest in adopting best practices across IT departments, particularly according to standards such as ITIL, many organizations are now deciding to implement a configuration management database (CMDB). IT departments face numerous challenges in providing dependable services that support a company s goals. Solving most of them requires a good configuration management strategy: without knowing what s in your environment, you cannot hope to control it, maintain it, or improve it. Configuration Management Database Itil history/overview Initially, Configuration Management Database (CMDB) term derives from ITIL IT Infrastructure Library, which in turn is a set of best practices of divisions or companies, engaged in providing services ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Configuration Management is applied to information systems, and not just to information technologies, the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) can store and manage detailed information about users, IT organization personnel and business structures. These Configuration Items are also subject to the Change Management process, for example, when hiring and firing employees. All Configuration Items should be included in the CMDB, which tracks all IT components and the relationships between them. In the most primitive form, the Configuration Management Database is a set of paper forms or spreadsheets. The purpose of the Configuration Management process is to assist with managing the economic value of the IT services by supporting a logical model of IT infrastructure and IT services and providing information about them to other business processes. This is achieved through the monitoring, identification, control and provision of information on the Configuration Units and their versions. The tasks of this process contain accurate registration of detailed information about IT components and services provided by the organization, as well as providing accurate information and documentation to support other Service Management processes ... Multiple times Corrie hears Betsie speak of how sorry she felt for the German soldiers and how she wishes she could help them see the err of their ways. Betsie s compassion towards her captors, assaulters, and enemies profoundly illustrates her love for the human race and the desire she has that all know Christ. While in the Vught concentration camp, Betsie states, Corrie, if people can be taught to hate, they can be taught to love! We must find a way, no matter how long it takes... . Betsie sees the potential for goodness in everyone she meets despite their actions. Overall, these three themes contribute to the central message of the novel. As a whole, the novel contains a few weaknesses. The first weakness arises from the time difference between the events and the writing of the novel. Corrie ten Boom wrote THE HIDING PLACE twenty years after the fact. It is extremely likely that the events depicted in the novel are shades of what actually occurred. Memories fade and time distorts the reality of the past and because of this, I feel that the book would have been more factually accurate had Corrie ten Boom written it much sooner. Another weakness in the book derives itself from ten Boom s heavy reliance on her Christian faith. As I read the book, I felt that some of the circumstances were glossed over and events were chocked up to being merely miracles. However, I do agree with Corrie ten Boom s major premise throughout the novel that religion can play a crucial role during tough ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The idea of finishing thirteen years of school was all I could think of. I knew my parents expected me to finish strong. I knew I would and do my best to finish strong enough to keep them off my back. The plan seemed simple enough. But, my sixteenth birthday came during my sophomore year, that is the year everything that I thought I knew changed. My parents let me know that I needed to earn my own spending money and found me a job. This was the day that I made a serious change. Of what I thought my future should be. My freshmen year of high school I did not expect much to change from middle school, just more work along with unwanted stress of moving on to high school. I had to the wrong attitude going into my classes. I felt as if the teachers were all against me and they all wanted me to fail or just torture me. The daily frustration of having to go to school everyday seemed to be unbearable. I tried to fake being sick or to tired to go to school on a daily basis. All that got me through the seemingly endless days was the thought of never having to step foot on a school campus again. • 29. Songs That Have Stood the Test of Time and Geography Part 1 Background and Identification There are quite a number of songs that have stood the test of time and geography to remain as vital and popular today as they were when first composed. Perhaps it is because some of these songs simply transcend time and place and appeal to the core of human emotion. Who cannot feel a thrill of excitement and humanity at the finale of Beethoven s 9th Symphony, or shed a tear at a favorite Christmas carol? One song that fits this transcendence is La Vie En Rose, literally, Life in Pink. This was first made popular in 1946 by French torch singer Edith Piaf. Translated from the French idiom, the piece means seeing life through rose colored glasses, rather perfect for Piaff s life and vocal talent, and even more perfect for a world turned upside down because of World War II. At first, Piaf s colleagues and team did not think the song would be at all successful, yet it became a favorite with audiences around the world, and Piaf s signature song (Bret, 2009). The song quickly became so popular it was translated into several languages, and then the greatest compliment of all imitated by singers in many different genres. Ironic since the words were almost hastily scribbled on a cocktail napkin while Piaf was drinking with her friend Marianne Michel at a cafà on the Champs Elysees (Burke, 2011, p. 118). Also, besides over 50 artists interpreting and recording the work, it was recently made into a stage play and surprisingly successful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although College Football ranked him as the ninth greatest college football player of all time, Nile Kinnick is perhaps best remembered, as Charles Bullard summed up in The Des Moines Register, for his strength of character and his sacrifice to his country (Lidd). Nile Kinnick was born on July 9, 1918 in Adel, Iowa, the grandson of a governor. He attended the University of Iowa after failing a football tryout at Minnesota. At Iowa, Kinnick became the team s main passer. Kinnick played halfback and during his senior year, played 402 minutes (of a possible 420) and was directly involved in 107 of Iowa s 130 points that season (Flatter). Lorraine and her family moved to a white neighborhood in Chicago and was attacked by the neighbors. Although they were attacked, the Hansberry family stayed until the court ordered them to leave. In the 1950s, it was portrayed as a good time for economy and blacks where content with their inferior status. This play was a revolutionary work for this time in the 1950s. Most plays didn t depict what an actual black family goes through on American Stage. African American roles before this play would be small, comedic roles and ethnic stereotypes. Hansberry shows a black family in the light of reality where it was comedic, it was real life struggles. There were issues throughout the play brought up such as poverty, discrimination, and the constitution of African American racial identity. This play shows the real life tensions between the black and white societies. Not only is Hansberry talking about blacks in American but she has issues of Africans anticolonial struggles as well. Another risky topic Hansberry shared in the play was feminism. The character Beneatha showed that women could have ambitious dreams and goals as well. Women didn t have to depend on marriage and just become a housewife, they could work hard for themselves. Even the topic of abortion was addressed even though it was illegal in this error. We were practically raised and conditioned to believe that we need a higher education in order to succeed in life. As opposed to generations of the past, high school students today are unable to obtain the number of high paying jobs that were once available. In the post War 1 era, the city of New York provided a free quality college education to many working class people (including immigrants) at the time when they were effectively barred from attending most colleges. We will also investigate the different levels of prepared pH on varying samples of the potato extract and the Phenylthiourea and record the results. After measuring equal amounts of distilled water and either adding or subtracting catechol which we referred to as the substrate some reactions was seen immediately. After which we were able to get data that supported my original hypothesis that in the addition of substrate and an enzyme the reaction would be present in varying degrees dependent on whether a temperature change was provided or not. In the second part of the experiment we were testing the inhibition action of Catechol Oxidase at different levels in several tubes of varying samples of potato extract, phenylthiourea (PTU) and distilled water. The experiment showed that (PTU) bonded with the extract and the water causing a reaction whereas there was no reaction in tube # 1 where there was an equal amount of everything in the tube. And test tube # 3 was the control tube where the (PTU) was eliminated as to observe if there was any reaction at all. Of course with the whole experiment we had to be very careful as to add the catechol last to ensure no premature reaction. It was hypothesized that (PTU) is a non competitive inhibitor and doubling the substrate will have no reversal effect. In the exercise # 2 we observed the effect of substrate concentration, enzyme concentration, pH and temperature on enzyme activity. All the data showed that once potato extract was added to catechol and water the reaction varied dependent on the level of catechol. As in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
