2. Pump And Treat
Throughout the past few years, Fruitvale has been experiencing a severe water crisis. The banned
pesticide No Bug contaminated the north end of Fruitvale. Recently, the contaminate has been
spreading near the Fruitvale Municipal Water Well. If the water well gets contaminated, Fruitvale
would be without a reliable, clean water source. A common and safe method for contaminated water
clean up is Pump and Treat. Pump and Treat pumps groundwater from the effected wells to an above
ground treatment system. From there, the treatment system removes and contains the contaminate
plume. Containing the plume keeps the contaminate from spreading and lowering the future
possibility of causing more problems for Fruitvale. This method is time sparing and safe. Pump and
Treat is estimated to be completed in 6 to 9 months. Also, from containing the plume, no wildlife
habitats, rivers or lakes, or drinking water sources would be effected by the contaminate. Throughout
this method no harmful exposure to wildlife or humans will occur. Pump and Treat also is a popular
method. It has been selected or used by more than 800 Superfund sites across America. ... Show more

Chase has to distinguish itself with other banks, which makes it a unique investment bank not just a
commercial bank simply issues loans. Thus, Chase smartly choose to occupy the leading position
specifically in the field of syndicated finance, while remain influential in other areas.

5. Case Study in Nursing
INTRODUCTION
Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) refers to a complex series of rare but well studied enzymatic
errors of metabolism with deficient levels of different enzymes involved in the synthesis of cortisol
(hydrocortisone).
CAH comprises a group of disorders resulting from defective synthesis of adrenal corticosteroids.
Lack of glucocorticoids, especially cortisol, causes various kinds of metabolic problems. The response
to low levels of cortisol is increased production of corticotropin (ACTH). Lack of mineralocorticoids,
primarily aldosterone (steroid hormone), causes sodium and water imbalance which, in some cases,
can be fatal. The various forms of CAH represent defects in the different stages of corticosteroid

7. Rotator Cuff Injury Research Paper
Millions of people across the United States suffer from either Bursitis or a rotator cuff injury every
year. Although sometimes the two can be misconceived, they are very different in all actuality. Bursitis
is the inflammation or irritation of the bursa. A bursa is a fluid filled sac used as a bumper near the
joints to reduce friction. There are many bursae located in your body, some of which being in the hip,
shoulder, wrist, and elbow. However, a rotator cuff injury only affects the shoulder area of the body.
The rotator cuff is composed of the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis, and teres minor
muscles. There is only one main way to be diagnosed with Bursitis and it happens when you overuse a
joint in sports or on the job. You can put the bursa under pressure for a long time, thus causing the
bursa to become inflamed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, scientists have found three main activities that can cause a rotator cuff tear.
Repetitive stress is when you repeat a certain action or movement constantly and cause the muscles to
tear. Sports like baseball and tennis can cause this. Another way of disruption is by a lack of blood
supply in the rotator cuff. As people age blood supply to our tendons and muscles can deplete, causing
an impairment in our body s natural repair of tendons. The final way that can cause a tear in the rotator
cuff is bone spurs. Bone spurs can develop on the underside of the acromion bone. When we lift our
arms, the spurs rub on the rotator cuff tendons. This condition is called shoulder impingement, and
over time will weaken the tendon and make it more likely to tear. The first sign of trouble with
Bursitis is pain. Along with this pain will come swelling, redness, and tenderness of the affected area.
In some cases, it will cause stiffness in the

(Torres 36). Leo won a golden medal for Argentina s men s soccer team in the 2008 Olympics, and he
won the Copa del Rey Top Goalscorer in 2010 and 2011 (45). Although Leo has received many
awards, he has also accomplished a lot. For example, he makes $128,000 a day (Prayank). Leo was
also debuted on La Liga, and his #10 jersey has become the world s best selling (Morreale 21). Leo
has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most goals scored in one year (41).When
Leo was first signed to Barcelona, his contract was on a napkin (Torres 29).
Leo has many influences and inspirations. For instance Diego Maradona, a former great Argentinian
soccer player, is a big inspiration to Leo (Logothetis 7). Another inspiration is Leo s grandmother
Celia. She put Leo in his first youth soccer club when he was only five years old (Morreale 9). Every
time Leo scores a goal, he puts two fingers to the sky in honor of his grandmother (37).
In conclusion, growth disorder affects many people, but Leo Messi did not let that stop him from

18. Comparing Poems Death And Be Not Proud
Poems about
Death, Be Not Proud by John Donne, Because I could not stop for Death and I heard a Fly buzz when
I died by Emily Dickinson all have one theme in common: death. Typically, death is associated with
negative connotations, but Death, Be Not Proud is a more cheerful tale of how death lost its sting.
Because I could not stop for Death also has a similar theme because. Like the other two poems, I
heard a Fly buzz when I died talks about an interruption of a person s death by a fly. Death. Be Not
Proud, Because I could not stop for Death, and I heard a Fly buzz when I died are all poems revolving
around the theme of death.
Death, Be Not Proud has an unusual theme compared to other poems about death. This poem talks
about God rendering death s power useless. It speaks about death positively, instead of a gateway to
Hell, it is instead a path to Heaven. At the beginning, it seems this poem is a letter taunting death,
saying that one day, death will be no more. It compares death to sleep, saying that eventually, people
will awaken for eternity. This poem has a great way of intertwining death and Christianity together in
a motivational letter. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this eternity resembles Heaven or Hell, it remains unclear. This poem gives an accurate representation

The Trip to the Dentist Office
Thinking to myself, is there any way I could jolt back in my car and head back for home, I enter the
tall thin tan colored brick building and walk over to the elevator, hoping that the last half hour of
scrubbing my teeth to death pays off. Nervously, I push the up button and patiently wait. The elevator
door promptly opens and I am engulfed, the door closes, up I go. Once on the second floor, I exit the
elevator and immediately I can smell the mixture of the wintergreen flavored tooth paste and the
overwhelming aroma of bleach out in the hall, along with the sound of the teeth grinding drills which

22. Human Rights Violations of China s One Child Policy Essay
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to highlight to what extent government policy has violated the human
rights of women in China. Government policy is important to the organization of countries.
Government policies work to aid in political, economic, and social issues that can become detrimental
to the function of a country. Flourishing government policies prove to be efficient and effective when
implementation is deemed successful. The One Child Policy proved to be successful in reducing
population size. As past policy rules have now been eased, family planning officials in the region have
begun drafting less strict family planning protocols. Though it has proved to be a successful policy in
curbing population growth, the One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the years following, population in the country began to increase yet again at rapid rates . This
increase came to be the forecaster for the need of antinatalist policy.
In the last few years that China s population experienced huge increases and decreases in population
size, Chinese governments provided family planning assistance for women and children . Not until the
population increased during the early 1960 s did government officials begin to view the threat such a
massive population would have on the future of the country. In 1979 China began to implement a
family planning policy in response to social and economic troubles that plagued the country due to the
rapid population growth as death rates decreased and birth rates continued to soar. The primary
objective of this policy was to decrease procreation in the region by encouraging individuals to
prolong engagements, limiting reproduction, and the promotion of an idealistic one child family.
Government officials enforced policy regulations by imposing taxes on those who challenged the new
policy and financial incentives for those who obeyed. Since its implementation, the One Child Policy
has dominated fertility rates as well as alleviating the increase in global population. China s policy
proved to be an idealistic approach at preventing population increase by restricting the reproductive

23. Relationship Between Leaf Size And Annual Sex Expression
Relationship between leaf size and annual sex expression in Arisaema triphyllum
VICKY NGUYEN
University of Toronto, Scarborough
Summary
Disparity in cost of reproduction has lead sexually reproducing plants to develop different methods of
dealing with the cost of reproduction, an example of this is sequential hermaphroditism, where an
individual can change sex at one point in their life. Jack in the pulpit, Arisaema triphyllum, is a
sexually dimorphic plant that exhibits sequential hermaphroditism, this study looks to see if female A.
triphyllum will exhibit the largest leaf sizes due to their need to meet higher costs of reproduction.
Forty individuals were surveyed for sex and largest leaf length per area for 7 different locations within
Morningside ravine. Individuals were analyzed for mean leaf length per sex, and means were analyzed
for significance with a 1 way ANOVA followed by a tukey test. All means were found to be
significantly different from each other with the mean of females leaves the largest, followed by males,
and asexual individuals were the smallest. Female individuals of A. triphyllum had the largest leaf
sizes to compensate for their elevated costs of reproduction. The size advantage model explains that
that female A. triphyllum will have the largest leaves because female individuals are able to best meet
the costs of reproduction at larger sizes.

25. Ancient Greek Philosophers
There has been much debate as to what change is, and is not. Ancient Greek Philosophers were not
indifferent to this. The early Greek Philosophers tried to explain what our world is comprised of,
whether it is monism (one true stuff, or reality), or pluralism (more than one reality, or stuff ). They
then proceeded to try to elaborate and explain how change and motion occur. Heraclitus conclusion
can be summed up in a quote of his: One cannot step into the same river twice. Parmenides and Zeno,
unlike Heraclitus, came to the conclusion that the world was practically an unmovable brick; there is
no change, there is no motion. Finally, Epicurus came to the conclusion that the world was formed
from indivisible, and constantly colliding atoms. Heraclitus was a monist. His interpretation of the one
and true reality was fire. This is not to be taken literally, because Heraclitus believed that the one
could never be any material thing, but was found in the orderliness of change. He said fire was always
changing yet somehow is always the same. He believed that everything is being changed constantly,
and this is occurring through a state of flux. By having orderliness, it becomes possible for the human
mind to comprehend the world, instead of it being entirely chaotic and based on the will of gods.
Since the rate of change is constant, an appearance of permanence exists. Hence, one cannot step into
the same river twice. (Jones 16) At first, it might appear as if you

27. Nursing Care Concepts
Define and Describe the Key Concepts of Care.
This essay covers the Key concepts of care. In 2013 the Francis report highlighted the need for student
nurses to test and experience their values and levels of care and compassion, and whilst it is seen that
the failures highlighted in the report go further than a lost compassion of nursing, this exercise is to
look at the key concepts of care and the principles of the 6 Cs (Care, Compassion, Courage,
Communication, Competence and Commitment) which have been identified as fundamental values,
although not the only ones as nurses have other core values such as organisational, professional and
NHS values to work to. I have selected one of the 6 Cs (communication) for a more detailed
description from which I will then provide as requested in my brief an example specific to its
application in a particular service. The area I have selected to apply this to, is Dementia.
The nature of the interrelation of care and nursing has been recognised by theorists over several
decades internationally, back in 2002 caring both as a natural attribute of being human and the core of
nursing was identified by Sister Simone Roach of Canada. Sister Simone Roach was responsible for a
similar set of the 6Cs to the ones we recognise today.
Several reports of poor care arose in 2009 regarding Mid Staffordshire hospital which concluded that
patients needed to be protected from harm, patients had been subject to unacceptable risk of harm and
that patients had failed to be treated in the appropriate way. The Francis report was commissioned to
look into the failings and examine why nurses failed to treat patients appropriately, stemming from the
Francis report came 209 recommendations. In 2012 the DH publication Compassion in Practice:
Nursing Midwifery and Care Staff Our vision and strategy Cummings Bennett (2012). included the 6
Cs. Reports from the Winterbourne View Hospital (DH 2012) and the Mid Staffordshire NHS
Foundation trust (Francis 2013) reported of the need to improve the care culture after highlighting a
lack of compassion.

Assessment of Stream Health at Conley Run Through the Sampling of Benthic Macroinvertebrates
C.J. Laurin, C.J. Hess, M.C. Taddeo
Introduction
Located near Cowan, Pennsylvania, Conley Run is a tributary of Buffalo Creek that has experienced
severe degradation due to agricultural activity. Specifically, the deposition of large amounts of animal
wastes, pesticides, and fertilizers has resulted in significant eutrophication throughout the stream.
Furthermore, bank degradation associated with the movement of livestock has caused the
displacement of foreign sediments into stream habitats. These factors, among many others, have
caused the lake to be considered impaired by PA DEP. In response, the Buffalo Creek Watershed
Alliance, the the Union County Conservation District, and the Department of Environmental
Protection and Fish and Boat Commision have partnered in an effort to restore stream habitat and
create a riparian buffer to protect the stream.
A separate tributary of Buffalo Creek, known as Stony Run, lies upstream from Conley Run. Since it
is located in a dense wooded area with little to no agricultural interference, Stony Run has experienced
very little degradation in comparison to Conley Run. However, Stony Run also shares a number of
similar physical characteristics with Conley Run, such as discharge, watershed area, elevation and
slope. Therefore, it will serve as a reference stream for this study.
The objective of this study was to assess the stream habitat quality

Criminal law assignment 1
Topic 7: Reasonable disciplinary chastisement
Introduction:
This assignment aims to provide a refined understanding regarding the common law defence of
reasonable disciplinary chastisement ( RDC ) in South African law, in the context of a statement
issued by the South African Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini ( Dlamini ).
Firstly, an analytical response will be given as to whether the author of this text agrees with Dlamini s
statement. Secondly, using her statement as a point of departure, the future of this criminal defence
will be discussed, evaluated and channeled towards affirming and producing a concluding remark, by
means of case law as judicial precedent and central academic opinions and disputes, as a secondary
source of evaluative analysis.
Disciplinary chastisement:
Background
The previous common law interpretation regarding ( CP ) was significantly influenced by English law,
employing an approach of moderate corporal chastisement as permissible towards those under their
care. Snyman relays that unlawfulness is based upon the principle of objective reasonableness , which
is founded on the legal convictions of the community or boni mores. Within South African criminal
law, disciplinary chastisement is classed as a putative (supposed) defence and will exclude the
criminal element of unlawfulness, unless inconsistent with human rights norms.

There are many mental disorders that have different effects on people and are sometimes determined

to act out on these crimes, do they deserve to receive the help that they need and are there any solution
to help deter future crimes involving the mentally ill? If so, fixing the problem could prove to be
difficult, the community should assume a portion of the responsibility in the finding of a solution to
help not only the mentally ill but also protect anyone on the other side of these crimes. The criminal
justice system does not always handle the mentally ill properly. According to Theodore Dalrymple
there are many crimes that go unrecorded that are committed by people with mental illnesses.
(Dalrymple) It is said that these crimes go unpunished or are not dealt with simply because they are
believed to be under psychiatric treatment. This reasoning alone does not justify not dealing with the
problem, these people are in need of help which they cannot receive by being left out on the streets.

35. Questions On Teaching English Language Learners Essay
Many considerations need to be addressed when teaching English language learners. To help English
language learners, teachers must have a basic understanding of the interferences these students face
and how they affect the ELL. Teachers have to be knowledgeable about phonological and
morphological differences with their ELL student s native language. Teachers must be aware of their
students phonemic awareness and be able to assess their students level of knowledge appropriately. To
be receptive to all students needs, teachers must acknowledge them so they can teach the student the
interferences and how they work in their new language. One of the interferences that teachers must
take into consideration is the student s phonological awareness. In the book Phonics They Use it states
that phonological awareness is the ability to separate sentences into words and words into syllables.
Whereas, phonemic awareness is the ability to recognize that words are made up of a discrete set of
sounds and to manipulate sounds. Through the developmental stages of a student s phonological
awareness their knowledge of how words are made up of individual words, words are made up of
syllables, and syllables are made up of phonemes (p. 5). Some activities that build phonological

39. Description Of The Model Of 11 Submodels Essay
The model
The model consisted in 11 submodels, one equation was used to calculate a random population and
simulate the IAA to each individual for all treatment (level of methionine+cysteine). The FI and MCI
are describing according to the performance of the flock population, with the price of amino acid is
calculated the feed cost with the increase of IAA. The model preconized that the optimum IAA is
dependent on the economic variables, therefore the model defines the NR with the variation of the
amino acid prices and sale poultry. The optimum IAA is determined by the relationship between IAA
and NR.
The input of model is: 1 μ of broiler; 2 SD, 3 parameters of the monomolecular model, 4 cost of
standard diet, 5 price of sale poultry, 6 parameters to estimate energy, 7 number of animals that wish
to simulate. The model output is the NR and the optimum amino acid intake.
Statistical approach and mathematical models
The model described simulates the potential performance and hence nutrient requirements at a flock
bird level, for this simulation needed of the µ and σ of the population, this parameter can be acquired
from experiments or literature data. Body weight gain (BWG.R) with random numbers from a
standardized normally distributed population were generated using the following generalized equation
