Hairtyle Definition
Proportion is the comparative relationship of one thing to another. A well chosen hairstyle can create
the illusion of better proportion. It is essential when designing a hairstyle to take into account the
client s body shape and size. Challenges in body proportion become more obvious if the hair form is
too small or too large. A general guide for classic proportion is that the hair should not be wider than
the center of the shoulders, regardless of the body structure.
Proportion is also defined as any portion or part in relation to the whole. No one certain feature or
style produces beauty but rather the relationship or harmony created when all components come
together into a total image. Why does a hairstyle, for example, look great on one ... Show more

Many have a side of the face that appears heavier. Many have one eye that is slightly smaller or one
flare of the nose that is slightly larger. And so, adaptability becomes the first design consideration.
During your client consultation, take the time to make notations of the asymmetry to the face. If we
design the hair towards the low side of the face, we will accentuate it. If we duplicate the head form
with either fullness or the lack thereof, we emphasize it. Feel the bones of the head and take note of
the growth patterns in the outer and inner perimeters. Remember that the outer perimeter creates the
strongest influence to the features. Be very careful about the hair that touches the face. Will it point to
an unflattering feature, such as a pointed nose? If there is a protrusion of the frontal bone, the fringe
area will lift and dry shorter than anticipated. We have found that working with two mirrors is of
tremendous benefit: one for the frontal view and one for the profile. Watch that you do not accentuate
a poor profile with an extension in that area. The mirrors will tell you things that the eye cannot see
directly. In addition, using a haircutting chair gives the best view of the back and sides of the head
because you are looking directly into them. If you are looking down at the hairline, your vision is
altered. (No, it is not for your feet; although that is a

Response Paper On Sexual Offenders
Chapter 6: Response Paper
Sexual offenders refer to sexual acts against a victim s will and includes a wide range of behaviors
ranging from exposing oneself in a public place to rape. Probation and parole officers have the
difficult task of working with sexual offenders and trying to help them during their rehabilitation
process. From researching different sources, I have concluded that risk assessment, treatment,
supervision, and restrictions/registration have effectively helped by working with sexual offenders in
the community.
Risk assessment is useful as a validated tool that provides a gauge of the offender s tendency to
commit additional criminal activity and indicates the level of intervention necessary. According to the
NGA (1), Most of the currently used sex offender risk instruments are designed solely to gather
information on static factors, or those features of an individual s experience that are unchangeable.
These factors can be used to assess long term recidivism potential, but not to identify treatment needs
or to predict the timing of a re offense. The risk assessment is a preventative strategy that helps
probation officers assess the offender so they can determine whether the offender is a risk to the
community or what type of treatment they will need. A main example of a risk assessment would be
Static 99. According to Static99 (2), Static 99 is a ten item actuarial assessment instrument created by

How Does All Quiet On The Western Front Change
Throughout time, war has changed a person in both physical and emotional ways. In the novel All
Quiet on the Western Front, Erich Maria Remarque strived to write about the true realities of war
which contradicted the common, romantic belief about war. This novel captures and shifts the
audience into a world so different than their home and allows them to almost experience war first
hand. All Quiet on the Western Front tells the story of a normal teenager named Paul Baumer who
went from a typical school in Germany, to the front lines of World War 1. As we read the story, we
could feel the many changes that Paul experienced, from just arriving at the front, all the way until his
death. Two of many horrific changes that Paul experienced are the ... Show more content on

This could be seen in many ways, but just the way he described the first bombardment showed how he
had thought of his enemies. When Paul says, The dull thud of the gas shells mingles with the crashes
of the light explosives (Remarque 68), we can clearly get a glimpse of what was going through his
head at the time of the first attack. Paul clearly understood he was being attacked and knew where he
stood in this situation. Paul s entire view on his enemy soon changed after he was sent to training
camp after his leave. He was given the position to guard the Russian prison and saw many things that
would change his view on the enemy forever. This is seen when he says, a word of command has
made these silent figures our enemies; a word of command might transform them into our friends
(Remarque 193). These thoughts were brought along when he saw the prisoners starving and dying
every day. The fact that he could relate to this was probably the reason he was so affected by the
prisoners. By the end of the novel, Paul had become a totally different character in the way that he
views his enemies. While in the front, Paul encounters a French soldier named Gerard Duval in a hand
to hand combat situation. Upon killing this man on instinct, Paul immediately regrets his decisions.
Reading the man s letters, treating his wounds, and promising to send his family money show how
Paul really pictures the men he is

Postive Effects of Medieval Social Classes Essay
The development of social classes in medieval England affected life for the people in many positive
ways. It served as a means of organization to base their daily lives off of, and also gave the peasants
and trade classes protection from the rulers and the clergy class in return for their labor and allegiance
( Quizlet ). Life in the Middle Ages was based on the framework of social classes so they could
flourish socially and economically. The British class structure was a configuration of five main
classes. The King owned all the land and distributed portions of it to his nobles. He was part of the
ruling class, along with the Pope and the rest of the royalty (Pattie). The Pope was the religious ruler
and had power over the church and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monks were the scholars of this time period, and they spent the majority of their time praising God
and attending prayer meetings and church. The last group of people in the clergy class was the nuns.
They weren t as intellectual as the monks, so their jobs involved catering to the people by nursing the
sick to health in the infirmary, educating young children, and caring for orphans (People of the Middle
Ages ). The next group of people was in the middle class. They were the citizens of the town, and they
acquired high amounts of money so that their families could live comfortable lives. The mothers in
these households were not obligated to work because the man of the house could financially support
the whole family ( Middle Class ). Sometimes they had servants to help the women with household
chores and duties like cooking, cleaning, and caring for the children. This class also included shipmen,
cooks, and high class merchants (Schwartz). Below the middle class was the trade class, which
included merchants and craftsmen. Men involved with retail would travel great distances to achieve
authority and power over certain trade routes ( Middle Ages: The Medieval Social Classes ). The trade
class hugely impacted the towns and the people because their income and trading skills helped to
stabilize the economy. Peasants and the middle class often disagreed with the work of the merchants
because the priests and the bishops were highly against it. They believed

Analysis Of Henrik Wolff s Bullet s The Brain
Imagine death. What happens in your final moments? Are you going to think about your loved ones or
just simply reminisce on one of the happiest moments of your existence? What would be your very
final thought to think? The short story, Bullet in the Brain , is a very intriguing, well articulated
fictional writing piece that captures what happens in the split second of death through the main
character Anders. Written by Tobias Wolff, the story follows a man who finds the cliché in anything
and his final thoughts of his life as a bullet is moving through his brain. Saying I enjoyed this story
would be the understatement of the century. The short story is purely brilliant and one of the most
thought provoking stories I have read in a while. The story takes place inside an old pompous bank
building. Anders, a book critic, cannot make it to the bank until right before closing time so, of course,
the line is long and the women he gets stuck waiting in line behind puts him in the worst mood
possible. Anders is a man who has critiqued the beauty out of life and in turn has let it turn him bitter.
Anders could not be any more irritated while waiting in line because the teller decides to neglect her
job to flirt with a man. Instead of taking his anger out on the bank teller, he takes it out on two ladies
in front of him who were just trying to make conversation. But in the blink of an eye, everything
changes and a plot twist occurs. Suddenly two men in ski masks are attempting

Constant practice of the breathing techniques and some simple poses improves blood circulation, and
alleviates high blood pressure and other heart related diseases. Yoga does not only treat these
conditions, it also keeps a check on them, so that they do not resurface.
YOGA IMPROVES MOVEMENT
Yoga improves balance and flexibility, allowing you a movement range that you would ordinarily not

being able to carry out various activities effortlessly, can also benefit from yoga.
This is in fact an important ability, as one begins to advance in age.

The Factor That Contributes The Success Of An Economy As A...
A factor that contributes immensely to the success of an economy as a whole is diversity. An
organization that can effectively unite individuals from different cultures and backgrounds can expect
healthy growth in the future. However, diversity can be considered to a much greater extent. When
analyzing any economy, one can observe that is formed by large firms, medium sized firms, small
firms, and firms that are barely getting on their feet. No matter the size or type of business, they all
significantly contribute to the overall well being of any economy. Furthermore, one type of institution
that forms a considerable facet of the diversity of economies are entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship
describes any institution that begins without the support of any higher corporation or established
business. Any individual can study how an entrepreneur works and makes decisions in an economics
class or they can even major in entrepreneurship in some universities. However, these educational
institutions many times fail to inculcate in their students how these types of business actually operate
in the real world. With that in mind, a concise yet profound analysis of a small business in Buckeye,
Arizona will consider how an entrepreneur owned business truly works. Twelve years ago, three
brothers, Martin, Luis, and Ricardo Ortiz, opened Ortiz Mobile Service, LLC. After previously

The Marketing Environment Of Krispy Kreme
Question 1
The marketing environment of any company plays an integral role in determining its capability to
develop long lasting customer relationships. It is important to note that businesses do not function in a
vacuum. Hence, every step that an organization takes is either caused by or has repercussions on
forces in its marketing environment (Tischler, 2013). The business milieu is continually mutating and
every organization, in turn, must be equipped to deal with these changes. The smartphone industry is a
good case in point with regards to constantly changing business environments. The Apple Samsung

mix remains limited. As a diversification strategy, I believe Krispy Kreme can venture into something
completely new selling equipment. Its own manufacturing unit, KKM D, can be used to sell
machinery to other companies. Since it already has the setup in place, this diversification plan does

What Is Mary Warren A Dynamic Character
Miller shows the greatest change in Mary Warren in order to show that good hearted people can still
cause trouble when they re ambivalent. Mary Warren was influenced by many people and many of her
own fears, causing her to change her mind a lot, which made her a dynamic character. Mary Warren is
a good person but she changes her mind too much which can cause chaos. In the beginning of the
book, Mary was hesitant to be involved with Abigail and the other girls: They ll be calling us witches
(Miller,17). But that soon wears off and Mary is quick to accuse the people of Salem of witch craft,
along with the other girls. John Proctor catches on to the the girls scheme and forces Mary to confess
in court. In court Mary seems as though she is willing to repent, she wants to be good again. But when
the court doesnt believe her and the girls decided to turn against her, she panicked and turned on John:
You re the devils man! (Miller,110). So, Mary wants to be good but she also doesnt want to be hanged,

Essay about Analysis of quot;The Birthmark quot;
Some say that beauty is only skin deep and believe that inner beauty, is a whole lot more important.
They are a small minority. Most of us strive for perfection in appearances it may be our own personal
appearance defined by the perfect clothes and the perfect look, the perfect home we live in, or the
perfect car we absolutely must have. People today are no different today than they were in the 19th
century, and we get an in depth understanding of the obsession with being perfect in Nathaniel
Hawthorne s The Birthmark. This short story is about a devoted scientist who marries a beautiful

As he said, nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffaceably on all her productions. Georgiana was
a pretty lady; Nature has to bear a birthmark on her face in order to keep the balance, any attempt to

changed or altered, without significant consequences.
Hawthorne s sentiments are very relevant in today s world where the obsession with perfection often
back fires with unfortunate results. To get the perfect house, the perfect car, or even the perfect look
we go to extraordinary lengths. Do we ever stop to think if it is all worth it? Just for a little while
longer, we think, and then we ll have enough money to get that nose job, or be able to pay for

Reflection Of Charcot Foot
A REFLECTION ON CHARCOT FOOT AND THE VARIOUS ORTHOTIC TREATMENT
THEREOF
Charcot foot is a condition in which the bones, joints, and soft tissues of the foot become deformed,
ensuing in a fully deformed foot and ankle. Due to the weakness of the bones, fractures will develop
as well as joint dislocation. It is most common in patients with peripheral neuropathy who are unable
to identify or feel the dislocation or fracture.
The peripheral neuropathy arises from Diabetes mellitus in most cases, but can also result from
poliomyelitis, excessive alcohol and drug abuse, mistreated infections, distress to the nerves, and even
Parkinson s disease. Neuropathy is nerve damage which results in no sensation in affected areas.
Another cause of Charcot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also known as offloading . Offloading is a non operative treatment option. The patient will be
required to use or wear a walking brace, an orthosis, a cast, or a protective splint. Another form of non
surgical treatment is a casting. Charcot can be treated by using a cast around affected area to reduce
swelling, protect the foot and ankle and to allow for healing to take place. When a patient is in a cast
he or she must not put weight on the cast as this could distort the healing process. While in a cast, a
patient can use a wheelchair or crutches to aid them for mobility in important daily activities. Healing
can last up to several months. However, the cast must be changed every one to two weeks to ensure it
fits the patient comfortably as the swelling diminishes. A custom walking boot or orthosis, or a
diabetic shoe may be recommended after the swelling is decreased to normal and bones are healed
fully. These boots are designed to minimize the risk of foot ulcers developing post treatment. After the
cast is removed, the patient will be prescribed to an orthotic shoe that appropriately fits their foot and
relieves pressure at certain points. Bracing can be accompanied with an orthotic

This is the primary business segment of UPS. It has positioned itself to be the leader in U.S. domestic
operation of this segment. This segment of the industry is fairly concentrated in global level as well as
in the domestic level in the U.S. Top 3 large companies make over 43% of global market share. This is
mostly due to the competitive requirements such as large capital, complex and integrated network,
expertise, and technology. These factors are very difficult to bring together in a short time horizon.
This also creates entry and exit barrier into this industry. The followings are some of the key players
of this industry segment. UPS: In 2014, UPS had a 22% of global market share in Time Definite
International Shipments , and 52% of market share in U.S. domestic package delivery segment.
FedEx: FedEx is the closest competitor of UPS in terms of their similarity in operational style, service
offerings (also include freight and logistics service), target customers, and to some extent prices.
FedEx also serves all 220 countries and territories that UPS serves which intensify their rivalry for
market share, first mover status, most profitable customers, most suitable partners, and other

How Language Changes Start and Spread Essay
Language change happens every day. New words are constantly being added and new dialects are
forming. People have always argued about the causes of language change and tried to control the
changes that occurred but ultimately they accomplished nothing. Languages changes and spread as a
result of the people who use it daily. African American English and California English are both
examples of the different ways language can change. People try to resist the changes in their language
because they do not want to see it change. Language change is a natural process that can be affected

As different dialects of a language develop they are shared with the people of the area. People often
use the dialect of those that they interact with most. To explain this simply, a person who only speaks
Chicano English is fine in their daily interactions with other speakers of the dialect but they may have
trouble speaking with a Northern Dialect. The spread of language change depends on the factors that
are causing it. The natural change in language over time smarts in a small area and spreads to
everyone that it comes in contact with.
This course focused on a numerous languages that were undergoing change. The simplest and most
relevant for many Americans are the changes that are occurring in English. America is a great melting
pot of different people and as such English s multiple dialects reflect cultural diversity. One of the
most studied and still not understood dialects is African American English. The point of contention
between the ideas for the origin of African American English is whether it was based on an existing
dialect in the south or if it was creole of English and different West African languages. Either way this
is an example of a rapid language change that has persisted over time. It is illogical to believe that the
slaves who were forced to learn English did not incorporate some of their own language. How else
could they have communicated before they fully understood English. An example of slower language

The first challenge in a long duration spaceflight is almost immediately apparent after lift off, leaving
the gravitational pull of Earth, and entering a micro gravity environment. Weightlessness can have

One way to do this is with extensive exercise. Not just two or three times a week for 30 minutes.
Crewmembers must exercise six times a week for almost three hours at a time using equipment such
as the ergometer, treadmill, and the Resistance Exercise Device (RED) ( Use It or Lose It, 2004).
Another way to fight the effects of micro gravity is to create an artificial gravity. Creating artificial
gravity can be done using one of two techniques, a rotation or acceleration. The entire spacecraft could
rotate, or a single section of the spacecraft could do the rotation. This would give the astronauts the
opportunity to live or weight train in a non weightless environment (Hsu, 2010). High acceleration and
deceleration rates of the spacecraft could also provide a normal gravitational environment ( Space
Travel, n.d.).
Once the mission leaves the Earth s atmosphere and travels into space, the next challenge awaits. The
Earth s atmosphere and magnetic field act as a shield and deter a large portion space radiation. Space
radiation comes from our Sun in the form of solar radiation and also comes from outside our solar
system in the form of cosmic rays (Gray, 2013). Radiation may be the most dangerous phenomenon a
long duration spaceflight could face. Solar flares erupt from the Sun and send millions of tons of
charged particles into space at speeds

Nursing Ethical Dilemmas
Ethical and legal dilemmas are issues that nurses face in their professional careers. Nurses are
accountable for safe and appropriate administration of medication. With the growth in malpractice
lawsuits it is important that nurses take certain precautions to limit the risk of lawsuits. Nurses can
limit the risk of liability through maintaining open communication with patients, expertise in practice,
attention to details, and autonomy. (Burkhart Nathanial, 2013).

What Extent Was Andrew Carnegie A Robber Baron Or A...
Were these powerful industrialists trying to get rich and powerful no matter what strain it puts on their
workers and competitors? Or were they an example of the American dream, an industry leader who
improved the nation and helped his people? Industrialists like Andrew Carnegie and John D.
Rockefeller were sometimes criticized and said to be Robber Barons. However, they were not, both
men increased the economy drastically, created millions of jobs for Americans, and donated large
amounts of money to charities like The Carnegie Institution and various Philanthropic causes. Andrew
Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller were Captains of Industry, not Robber Barons.

Rockefeller was a great Captain Of Industry; he reshaped and converted the oil industry and became a
philanthropist. Rockefeller grew up in an above average home with his Mother and Father. After being
graduated from High School in 1855, the family sent him to a Cleveland Business School. (The New
Tycoons: John D. Rockefeller) Rockefeller s parent s support as a young man was a great contribution
to his success. Many people argue that Rockefeller didn t deserve his great accomplishments, but just
as many other successful people; he too worked very hard for his achievements. Young John
Rockefeller entered the workforce on the bottom rung of the ladder as a clerk in a Cleveland shipping
firm (The New Tycoons; John D. Rockefeller). Rockefeller went from being a clerk in a small firm to
building up one of the greatest and largest industries in the U.S. As products such as automobiles were
becoming more popular, the demand for oil grew. John D. Rockefeller was also known for being a
Philanthropist, Rockefeller wrote one of his partners, let the good work go on. We must ever
remember we are refining oil for the poor man and he must have it cheap and good (Folsom, John D.
Rockefeller and the Oil Industry) Rockefeller knew that there was a need for oil, he gave the best oil
he could at the lowest price, his customers were his main priority and they were in his best interest.

Manoeuvrist Approach, Mission Command And OODA Loopist...
In order to be able to answer on those questions it will be necessary firstly to explain basic theoretical
points about Manoeuvrist Approach, Mission command and OODA loop cycle. Throughout history,
military theorists and commanders have attempted to determine and define the most effective way to
defeat an adversary and achieve victory. British military doctrine defines this method as the
Manoeuvrist Approach or indirect approach, which main focus is basically on attacking enemy s
cohesion and will to fight rather than focusing purely on the destruction of his physical component.
The approach itself is based on manoeuvre theory, which relies on speed, deception, surprise, and the
application of firepower and movement or application of own strengths ... Show more content on

OODA loop (observe orient decide act) is theory presented by American John Boyd and its essence is
to be faster through OODA loop cycle than the enemy. If we can consistently go through the OODA
cycle faster than the enemy, make faster decisions and act before him, we gain an advantage and
enemy loses his cohesion until he can no longer fight as an effective, organized force. However, in
order to be faster than enemy some preconditions have to be achieved. Firstly, according to Boyd, only
decentralized military with application of mission command can have a fast OODA loop. Secondly,
through decentralization, to operate successfully in fog of war we need to accept confusion and
disorder, and also to generate them. Thirdly, while operating in confusion and disorder we need to
avoid all patterns, recipes and formulas, because if our tactics follow predictable patterns, the enemy
can predict our actions and easily cut inside our OODA Loop. And lastly, we should never do the same
thing twice because even if something works well for us once, by the second time the enemy will have

Enduring Love Chapter 1 Analysis
The principles from this chapter that I am going to focus on are forgiving and serving others. Showing
forgiveness and mercy towards others is vital in marriage and family life. When we have grace
towards everyone around us we will inevitably have more love in our lives and relationships. If we are
struggling forgiving a spouse it is important to serve them. When we serve others it will help bring joy
to the person serving and the one being served. If we learn to forgive and serve in our marriages there
will be more love and less contention.
In this chapter the principle I am going to focus on is that all relationship have issues, but if we have
softer hearts the couple can overcome their struggles. When problems arise in a marriage it is
important to work through them, with your spouse, and do not give up. A person can choose to divorce
and move on to another relationship, but this relationship will have its own set of different problems.
No relationship will ever be perfect. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When partners appreciate one another it helps the relationship grow and improve, when they
continuously correct one another it slowly destroys it. If a partner is doing something that angers the
other, they need to fix themselves and love their partner. Focusing on the positive of partners will
build couples closer together instead of driving them apart.
In chapter five a principle that stood out to me is that infidelity is a great iniquity of our generation. In
the world I feel like sex is becoming less valued and sacred. In marriage partners should be faithful to
their spouse physically, mentally, and emotionally. When each partner does this they are protecting
their relationship from emotional heartache that comes from betrayal. When partners in a marriage
water their relationship and give it the attention it needs more joy will be found and infidelity is less
likely to

Motor Vehicle Repair
A car repair is required if something breaks down with your motor vehicle. It can be any number of
things that go wrong with your automobile. Sometimes a car repair is large and can be expensive to
have completed by a mechanic and sometimes it is more of a minor repair. What you need to do to
avoid constantly taking your car into a service center for work is to properly maintain it.
Preventative maintenance is key to having a well functioning motor vehicle. When you take good care
of your car this helps keep it in better shape and can increase the lifespan of your automobile. You can
keep some car repairs at bay if you maintain your motor vehicle in the manner that it needs to be

Why Is Dr.Watson Important to Sherlock Holmes Essay
The classic mystery novel, Sherlock Holmes, features a murder mystery detective Sherlock Holmes,
and his army doctor colleague Dr. John Watson. The story revolves around the main character,
Sherlock Holmes, and his unique method to solving crimes. The story is mainly all about Sherlock and
his abilities, which then rises the question about the importance of the character of Dr.Watson, both to
the chaarcter of Sherlock Holmes, and towards the readers.
The first reason why Dr.Watson might be important to the character of Sherlock is because he makes
Sherlock more human . If you have ever seen a Sherlock movie, or TV show, the first thing you would
notice about Sherlock is his gigantic ego and shellfish attitude towards other people. He ... Show more

That is where Dr.Watson also plays a part in. Dr.Watson does the boring work for Sherlock. Dr.Watson
would be guarding the door, or watching over the security cameras, meanwhile, Sherlock would be out
doing the dangerous stuff such as breaking into a secret laboratory or going out in the woods at
midnight. One example would be in the Sherlock BBC TV Show episode The Hound of Baskerville ,
when Sherlock asked Dr.Watson to watch over the house and the family, while Sherlock goes to
investigate.
Dr.Watson does not only serve as a purpose towards Sherlock, but also towards the readers or
audiences. Many may not notice this, but in the Sherlock BBC TV Show, Dr.Watson takes notes of the
cases and posts them on his blog. So therefore, the Sherlock stories were written by Dr.Watson.
Without Dr.Watson s notes or blog, there would not be a Sherlock Holmes story to be told.
Last but not least, Dr.Watson would be an important character towards the audience/readers, because
Dr.Watson will explain in everyday english, what Sherlock is saying. Sherlock often talks to himself,
and when he does figure a mystery out, he would just walk out the door and starts speaking is
accelerated gibberish. An example would be in the Sherlock book by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the one
titled The Boscombe Valley Mystery , out of the blue, Sherlock had already solved the case. Inspector
Lestrade and Dr.Watson were all very puzzled, and i think the readers must be as well. Therefore,

Justice Through Environmental Cleanup
I belong to a proud people called the Ogoni people. The Ogoni people are a minority tribe that s in the
Southeast of Nigeria and they happen to own most of the vast oil reserves in Nigeria. Why does this
matter you ask? Well because they ve been economically exploited, suffered environmental
degradation and political marginalization in Nigeria for fighting for the right to self determine their
destiny and keep control of their resources. Shell, a oil company that was founded in 1907 when the
Dutch company practiced unfriendly environmental practices while drilling oil where people were
living. This caused oil spills and polluted the water and land that was used to produce fruits and
vegetables. Nigeria also allowed these practices to go on because a lot of Nigeria s wealth came from
oil. The Nigerian government also supported the efforts of Shell to get rid of the Ogoni so that they
can continue to take the oil without any consequences. With the help of Shell and the Nigerian
government the Ogonis were forced to go out of Nigeria as exiles. My dad came here as a refugee and
I was born here. While many see that some parts of the world are doing fairly well and operate in a
democracy, I believe that we as a world community should rally behind human rights and address the
degradation and devastation that has plagued the Ogoni community and other indigenous

Cardiac Overloads
Abstract
Cardiac output is the amount of blood the heart pumps in 1 minute and depends on heart rate,
contractility, preload, and afterload. Understanding the supply and the practical relevance of each of
these four components is important in interpreting the values of cardiac output.
Afterload is the intraventricular pressure sufficient to open the aortic valve allowing ejection of the
ventricular contents, Or the load against which the ventricle contracts or otherwise stress the wall
during ventricular ejection.
On the right side, it is expressed as Pulmonary Vascular Resistance (PVR) and on the left side as
Peripheral Vascular Resistance (SVR). The greater the afterload, the lower the cardiac output, the
greater the pressure of the right atrium.
The higher the aortic pressure, the higher the LV afterload. It is usually measured at the end of systole.
The most common influence on afterload is vascular tone or resistance to blood flow. In addition,
other factors, such as valve stenosis or blood viscosity, can affect the afterload. Vascular resistance is
controlled and manipulated with drugs to increase or decrease afterload.1 2
When considering post load equivalent to systolic stress, an interrelation and interdependence between
preload and afterload are revealed.
The increase in afterload ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Treatment Of Discrimination In Richard Wright s Native...
In the United States, there is an immeasurable amount of hate. Ever since our ancestors came here
from England, we search only for differences in each other. These differences can be anything from
the color of one s skin, religion, sex, or expression of his or her gender, even political beliefs.
Consequently, generally one will treat another differently due to characteristics that they have lack
control over. As a human being, one can only tolerate this treatment for so long, and the subject will
eventually retaliate. Yet, when an individual does retaliate due to poor treatment, no one asks why they
did so. Several characters from Native Son experience this mistreatment which people are still
experiencing today. In Richard Wright s novel Native Son, the characters are treated unjustly. Due to
his skin color and socioeconomic status, Bigger Thomas misses countless opportunities in life. Almost
every minority during this era is born with some disadvantages, identical to Bigger s. For example,
Bigger wants to attend aviation school and fly an airplane, but cannot because the color of his skin.
Bigger says: I wanted to be an aviator once. But they wouldn t let me go to the school where I was
suppose to learn it. They kept all of the colored boys out (Wright 353). Moreover, Bigger not only
misses getting a proper education to have a career, but also lives in an unhealthy and unsafe
environment. He is also

The Importance Of Residential Schools In Canada
In the 1870 s, the Canadian government partnered partnered with churches such as the Anglican,
Catholic, and United churches to establish residential schools for Aboriginal children.
Residential schools were first established after the Indian act which passed in 1876 and lasted up until
1996 when the last residential school in Saskatchewan, Canada was shut down due to lack of respect
for the culture and the harsh mistreatment that the youth suffered.
The official reasons given to the country for establishing residential schools was that the Canadian
government believed that it had the responsibility of educating and caring for the aboriginal people.
They believed that learning English and adopting christianity was their best chance for success. ...

  • 2. Hairtyle Definition Proportion is the comparative relationship of one thing to another. A well chosen hairstyle can create the illusion of better proportion. It is essential when designing a hairstyle to take into account the client s body shape and size. Challenges in body proportion become more obvious if the hair form is too small or too large. A general guide for classic proportion is that the hair should not be wider than the center of the shoulders, regardless of the body structure. Proportion is also defined as any portion or part in relation to the whole. No one certain feature or style produces beauty but rather the relationship or harmony created when all components come together into a total image. Why does a hairstyle, for example, look great on one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many have a side of the face that appears heavier. Many have one eye that is slightly smaller or one flare of the nose that is slightly larger. And so, adaptability becomes the first design consideration. During your client consultation, take the time to make notations of the asymmetry to the face. If we design the hair towards the low side of the face, we will accentuate it. If we duplicate the head form with either fullness or the lack thereof, we emphasize it. Feel the bones of the head and take note of the growth patterns in the outer and inner perimeters. Remember that the outer perimeter creates the strongest influence to the features. Be very careful about the hair that touches the face. Will it point to an unflattering feature, such as a pointed nose? If there is a protrusion of the frontal bone, the fringe area will lift and dry shorter than anticipated. We have found that working with two mirrors is of tremendous benefit: one for the frontal view and one for the profile. Watch that you do not accentuate a poor profile with an extension in that area. The mirrors will tell you things that the eye cannot see directly. In addition, using a haircutting chair gives the best view of the back and sides of the head because you are looking directly into them. If you are looking down at the hairline, your vision is altered. (No, it is not for your feet; although that is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Response Paper On Sexual Offenders Chapter 6: Response Paper Sexual offenders refer to sexual acts against a victim s will and includes a wide range of behaviors ranging from exposing oneself in a public place to rape. Probation and parole officers have the difficult task of working with sexual offenders and trying to help them during their rehabilitation process. From researching different sources, I have concluded that risk assessment, treatment, supervision, and restrictions/registration have effectively helped by working with sexual offenders in the community. Risk assessment is useful as a validated tool that provides a gauge of the offender s tendency to commit additional criminal activity and indicates the level of intervention necessary. According to the NGA (1), Most of the currently used sex offender risk instruments are designed solely to gather information on static factors, or those features of an individual s experience that are unchangeable. These factors can be used to assess long term recidivism potential, but not to identify treatment needs or to predict the timing of a re offense. The risk assessment is a preventative strategy that helps probation officers assess the offender so they can determine whether the offender is a risk to the community or what type of treatment they will need. A main example of a risk assessment would be Static 99. According to Static99 (2), Static 99 is a ten item actuarial assessment instrument created by R. Karl Hanson, PH.D. and David Thornton , Ph. • 4. How Does All Quiet On The Western Front Change Throughout time, war has changed a person in both physical and emotional ways. In the novel All Quiet on the Western Front, Erich Maria Remarque strived to write about the true realities of war which contradicted the common, romantic belief about war. This novel captures and shifts the audience into a world so different than their home and allows them to almost experience war first hand. All Quiet on the Western Front tells the story of a normal teenager named Paul Baumer who went from a typical school in Germany, to the front lines of World War 1. As we read the story, we could feel the many changes that Paul experienced, from just arriving at the front, all the way until his death. Two of many horrific changes that Paul experienced are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could be seen in many ways, but just the way he described the first bombardment showed how he had thought of his enemies. When Paul says, The dull thud of the gas shells mingles with the crashes of the light explosives (Remarque 68), we can clearly get a glimpse of what was going through his head at the time of the first attack. Paul clearly understood he was being attacked and knew where he stood in this situation. Paul s entire view on his enemy soon changed after he was sent to training camp after his leave. He was given the position to guard the Russian prison and saw many things that would change his view on the enemy forever. This is seen when he says, a word of command has made these silent figures our enemies; a word of command might transform them into our friends (Remarque 193). These thoughts were brought along when he saw the prisoners starving and dying every day. The fact that he could relate to this was probably the reason he was so affected by the prisoners. By the end of the novel, Paul had become a totally different character in the way that he views his enemies. While in the front, Paul encounters a French soldier named Gerard Duval in a hand to hand combat situation. Upon killing this man on instinct, Paul immediately regrets his decisions. Reading the man s letters, treating his wounds, and promising to send his family money show how Paul really pictures the men he is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Postive Effects of Medieval Social Classes Essay The development of social classes in medieval England affected life for the people in many positive ways. It served as a means of organization to base their daily lives off of, and also gave the peasants and trade classes protection from the rulers and the clergy class in return for their labor and allegiance ( Quizlet ). Life in the Middle Ages was based on the framework of social classes so they could flourish socially and economically. The British class structure was a configuration of five main classes. The King owned all the land and distributed portions of it to his nobles. He was part of the ruling class, along with the Pope and the rest of the royalty (Pattie). Monks were the scholars of this time period, and they spent the majority of their time praising God and attending prayer meetings and church. The last group of people in the clergy class was the nuns. They weren t as intellectual as the monks, so their jobs involved catering to the people by nursing the sick to health in the infirmary, educating young children, and caring for orphans (People of the Middle Ages ). The next group of people was in the middle class. They were the citizens of the town, and they acquired high amounts of money so that their families could live comfortable lives. The mothers in these households were not obligated to work because the man of the house could financially support the whole family ( Middle Class ). Sometimes they had servants to help the women with household chores and duties like cooking, cleaning, and caring for the children. This class also included shipmen, cooks, and high class merchants (Schwartz). Below the middle class was the trade class, which included merchants and craftsmen. Men involved with retail would travel great distances to achieve authority and power over certain trade routes ( Middle Ages: The Medieval Social Classes ). The trade class hugely impacted the towns and the people because their income and trading skills helped to stabilize the economy. Peasants and the middle class often disagreed with the work of the merchants because the priests and the bishops were highly against it. They believed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Henrik Wolff s Bullet s The Brain Imagine death. What happens in your final moments? Are you going to think about your loved ones or just simply reminisce on one of the happiest moments of your existence? What would be your very final thought to think? The short story, Bullet in the Brain , is a very intriguing, well articulated fictional writing piece that captures what happens in the split second of death through the main character Anders. Written by Tobias Wolff, the story follows a man who finds the cliché in anything and his final thoughts of his life as a bullet is moving through his brain. Saying I enjoyed this story would be the understatement of the century. The short story is purely brilliant and one of the most thought provoking stories I have read in a while. The story takes place inside an old pompous bank building. Anders, a book critic, cannot make it to the bank until right before closing time so, of course, the line is long and the women he gets stuck waiting in line behind puts him in the worst mood possible. Anders is a man who has critiqued the beauty out of life and in turn has let it turn him bitter. Anders could not be any more irritated while waiting in line because the teller decides to neglect her job to flirt with a man. Instead of taking his anger out on the bank teller, he takes it out on two ladies in front of him who were just trying to make conversation. But in the blink of an eye, everything changes and a plot twist occurs. Suddenly two men in ski masks are attempting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Factor That Contributes The Success Of An Economy As A... A factor that contributes immensely to the success of an economy as a whole is diversity. An organization that can effectively unite individuals from different cultures and backgrounds can expect healthy growth in the future. However, diversity can be considered to a much greater extent. When analyzing any economy, one can observe that is formed by large firms, medium sized firms, small firms, and firms that are barely getting on their feet. No matter the size or type of business, they all significantly contribute to the overall well being of any economy. Furthermore, one type of institution that forms a considerable facet of the diversity of economies are entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship describes any institution that begins without the support of any higher corporation or established business. Any individual can study how an entrepreneur works and makes decisions in an economics class or they can even major in entrepreneurship in some universities. However, these educational institutions many times fail to inculcate in their students how these types of business actually operate in the real world. With that in mind, a concise yet profound analysis of a small business in Buckeye, Arizona will consider how an entrepreneur owned business truly works. The Marketing Environment Of Krispy Kreme Question 1 The marketing environment of any company plays an integral role in determining its capability to develop long lasting customer relationships. It is important to note that businesses do not function in a vacuum. Hence, every step that an organization takes is either caused by or has repercussions on forces in its marketing environment (Tischler, 2013). The business milieu is continually mutating and every organization, in turn, must be equipped to deal with these changes. Mary Warren is a good person but she changes her mind too much which can cause chaos. Most of us strive for perfection in appearances it may be our own personal appearance defined by the perfect clothes and the perfect look, the perfect home we live in, or the perfect car we absolutely must have. People today are no different today than they were in the 19th century, and we get an in depth understanding of the obsession with being perfect in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark. As he said, nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffaceably on all her productions. Georgiana was a pretty lady; Nature has to bear a birthmark on her face in order to keep the balance, any attempt to remove it should and would result in disaster that lead us to another conclusion Nature can not be changed or altered, without significant consequences. Hawthorne s sentiments are very relevant in today s world where the obsession with perfection often back fires with unfortunate results. To get the perfect house, the perfect car, or even the perfect look we go to extraordinary lengths. Do we ever stop to think if it is all worth it? Just for a little while longer, we think, and then we ll have enough money to get that nose job, or be able to pay for liposuction, or that implant that will remove Nature s imperfection and make life perfect. Just as Aylmer said of his wife, you came so nearly perfect from the hand of Nature that this slightest possible defect, which we hesitate whether to term a defect or a beauty, shock me, as being visible mark of earthly imperfection, we harp on our imperfection in the same way, blame our parents for not getting us braces at the right time, or contacts when ... It is most common in patients with peripheral neuropathy who are unable to identify or feel the dislocation or fracture. Another form of non surgical treatment is a casting. Charcot can be treated by using a cast around affected area to reduce swelling, protect the foot and ankle and to allow for healing to take place. When a patient is in a cast he or she must not put weight on the cast as this could distort the healing process. While in a cast, a patient can use a wheelchair or crutches to aid them for mobility in important daily activities. Healing can last up to several months. However, the cast must be changed every one to two weeks to ensure it fits the patient comfortably as the swelling diminishes. A custom walking boot or orthosis, or a diabetic shoe may be recommended after the swelling is decreased to normal and bones are healed fully. To explain this simply, a person who only speaks Chicano English is fine in their daily interactions with other speakers of the dialect but they may have trouble speaking with a Northern Dialect. The spread of language change depends on the factors that are causing it. The natural change in language over time smarts in a small area and spreads to everyone that it comes in contact with. America is a great melting pot of different people and as such English s multiple dialects reflect cultural diversity. One of the most studied and still not understood dialects is African American English. The point of contention between the ideas for the origin of African American English is whether it was based on an existing dialect in the south or if it was creole of English and different West African languages. During this period, numerous human factors challenges can complicate, and even ruin the entire mission. This paper will identify human factors challenges the crew will face, describe why they are so dangerous, and finally, identify ways to mitigate these challenges. Not just two or three times a week for 30 minutes. Crewmembers must exercise six times a week for almost three hours at a time using equipment such as the ergometer, treadmill, and the Resistance Exercise Device (RED) ( Use It or Lose It, 2004). Another way to fight the effects of micro gravity is to create an artificial gravity. Creating artificial gravity can be done using one of two techniques, a rotation or acceleration. The entire spacecraft could rotate, or a single section of the spacecraft could do the rotation. This would give the astronauts the opportunity to live or weight train in a non weightless environment (Hsu, 2010). High acceleration and deceleration rates of the spacecraft could also provide a normal gravitational environment ( Space Travel, n.d.). Once the mission leaves the Earth s atmosphere and travels into space, the next challenge awaits. The Earth s atmosphere and magnetic field act as a shield and deter a large portion space radiation. Space radiation comes from our Sun in the form of solar radiation and also comes from outside our solar system in the form of cosmic rays (Gray, 2013). British military doctrine defines this method as the Manoeuvrist Approach or indirect approach, which main focus is basically on attacking enemy s cohesion and will to fight rather than focusing purely on the destruction of his physical component. However, in order to be faster than enemy some preconditions have to be achieved. Firstly, according to Boyd, only decentralized military with application of mission command can have a fast OODA loop. Secondly, through decentralization, to operate successfully in fog of war we need to accept confusion and disorder, and also to generate them. Thirdly, while operating in confusion and disorder we need to avoid all patterns, recipes and formulas, because if our tactics follow predictable patterns, the enemy can predict our actions and easily cut inside our OODA Loop. If we are struggling forgiving a spouse it is important to serve them. When we serve others it will help bring joy to the person serving and the one being served. The Ogoni people are a minority tribe that s in the Southeast of Nigeria and they happen to own most of the vast oil reserves in Nigeria. Why does this matter you ask? Well because they ve been economically exploited, suffered environmental degradation and political marginalization in Nigeria for fighting for the right to self determine their destiny and keep control of their resources. Shell, a oil company that was founded in 1907 when the Dutch company practiced unfriendly environmental practices while drilling oil where people were living. The Nigerian government also supported the efforts of Shell to get rid of the Ogoni so that they can continue to take the oil without any consequences. With the help of Shell and the Nigerian government the Ogonis were forced to go out of Nigeria as exiles. My dad came here as a refugee and I was born here. Understanding the supply and the practical relevance of each of these four components is important in interpreting the values of cardiac output. Afterload is the intraventricular pressure sufficient to open the aortic valve allowing ejection of the ventricular contents, Or the load against which the ventricle contracts or otherwise stress the wall during ventricular ejection. On the right side, it is expressed as Pulmonary Vascular Resistance (PVR) and on the left side as Peripheral Vascular Resistance (SVR). The greater the afterload, the lower the cardiac output, the greater the pressure of the right atrium. The higher the aortic pressure, the higher the LV afterload. It is usually measured at the end of systole. The most common influence on afterload is vascular tone or resistance to blood flow. In addition, other factors, such as valve stenosis or blood viscosity, can affect the afterload.
