Enoch Arden
Professor Beggs English 101 MW12 17 September 2009 Enoch Arden s Charity and Goodwill In
Alfred Tennyson s poem of skilled writing, Enoch Arden , Enoch leaves his family to better serve
them as a husband and father. The poem firmly establishes the perplexity of one s generous
personality. Enoch leaves his family to better the lives for each of them in a manner that reflects a
view of personal toil and hardship to support the family in economic downfall. Also in Enoch s
absence it is written that Philip Ray provides for Enoch s children and wife Annie Lee, enabling the
thought of generosity and charitable goodwill toward the character. As we are now living in the twenty
first century, one may see this poem as not a literary work of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The poem comes out and states Miriam s good character, Miriam Lane was good and garrulous.
Though her talkative personality she does not tell Annie nor Philip of Enoch s return. She promises
twice to Enoch that she d give his blessings to his family and to announce his death as Enoch repeats
his wishes to her on his deathbed. As these examples can now be seen self evident; there is no
argument to not see this poem as not a literary work of art but a reinforcement of charity and goodwill.
This work can be compared to any revolutionary writing; Enoch Arden revolutionizes today s world
by inspiring one to become charitable and goodwilled. Enoch Arden, Philip Ray, Annie Lee, and
Miriam Lane can all be seen as charitable and good willed people whom one may look up too. It is
apparent these character s have all suffered but have refused for it to get in the way of their charity and
goodwill manner. In our modern times of disillusioned goodwill, one can look to Enoch Arden . More
specifically one can look to these wondrous characters for insight on charity and goodwill; though this
may require sacrificing and downfalls one can only applaud Tennyson for creating such inspirational
role models for today s

Plastic Pollution And Its Effects
There are many forms of pollution that occur from oil spills, radioactive wastes, urban air pollution,
the release of greenhouse gases, or agricultural pollution, and one of the most preventable, plastic
pollution. Plastic pollution is an accumulation in the environment of man made plastic products to the
point that they become problematic and harmful to wildlife, wildlife habitats, or human populations.
This accumulation is due to the excessive use of plastics, which has become a worldwide issue, and is
accountable for approximately 10% of discarded waste. It has been calculated that 275 million metric
tons (MT) of plastic waste was produced in 192 coastal countries in 2010, with as much as 12.7
million MT entering the ocean (Jambeck et al., 2015). Plastic pollution can be classified based on the
overall size and thickness, as microdebris (2 µm), mesodebris (1 5 mm), or macrodebris ( 20 mm).
Plastic can be very harmful to the land, waterways, and the ocean due to its extremely slow
biodegrading process, which can exceed hundreds of years. Plastic debris can also be harmful to
marine life causing, entanglement, ingestion of plastic waste, and exposure to the chemicals within
plastics, which ultimately affect humans as well.
There are many types of plastics that exist. These varieties are classified based on the method of their
polymerization. Some of these classifications are as follows: polyethylene terephthalate (PET or
PETE), high density polyethylene (HDPE), polyvinyl

U.s. Taxpayers Paid $ 256 Billion For Healthcare
In 1980, U.S. taxpayers paid $256 billion for healthcare services. In 2012, they paid nearly $2.8
trillion for healthcare services (Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services. 2012). This represents a
tenfold increase in a single generation. Although some of the most expensive medical conditions to
treat may not be preventable, there are a myriad of preventable diseases that add to the economic
burden that Americans carry each year. When one also considers the rise in childhood obesity rates
and other related and non related chronic illnesses, the role of nurses as educators in our schools and
communities has become critical to the continued success of our nation.
In 2009, data were collected by the National Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) that clearly
demonstrated the relationship between health risk behaviors and academic achievement in high school
students. Students with higher grades were less likely to engage in health risk behaviors such as
cigarette smoking, alcohol use, unhealthy diets, and increased sexual activity. Unfortunately, the
statistics reported by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for health risk behaviors in
American adults were grim. In 2012, 42 million adults reported that they smoked cigarettes and nearly
47% of American adults have at least one major risk factor for heart disease or stroke. These included
uncontrolled high blood pressure, uncontrolled high levels of LDL cholesterol, lack of aerobic
exercise, and poor nutrition.

Executive Summary
Mobile marketing is more than a trendy new media channel; it is a powerful communication tool with
considerable audience reach and awareness. Over 85% of the population in the UK use a mobile
phone and 80% across Western Europe. With such high penetration, mobile marketing campaigns can
reach all audience demographics (over 70% penetration in all the age ranges up to
64 years of age).

The term mobile marketing covers a broad range of formats in which the target audience interacts with
a campaign using their mobile phone. We have defined 4 broad groups of format within this primer:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Messaging based Marketing using SMS and MMS;
Browser based
Marketing using the mobile internet in WAP format via banner ads and interstitials; Voice based
Marketing using voice lines; and
Emerging
Current cutting edge campaign formats which are being used by just a few specialist agencies.
Examples include use of Java games, voice mail marketing and Location Based Services (LBS).
Many of the formats defined above can also be targeted at fixed line/land line customers. For the
purposes of this primer we focus purely on the opportunities to target the mobile customer base with
the mobile phone.
It was only a few years ago that the mobile channel was used experimentally for the first time as a
marketing tool. At the time the complexities of the technology, the specialist knowledge required and
the contractual difficulties of working with the mobile networks made delivering mobile marketing
campaigns an area only for the determined.
Today, these hurdles have been largely removed. The value chain supporting mobile marketing has
developed significantly

The Theme Of Revenge In Hamlet
In Shakespeare s Hamlet, there are many crucial themes that help contribute to the plot. However,
none amongst these literary concepts are as apparent as the motif of revenge. During the entire play,
Hamlet is infatuated and controlled by avenging his father s death. Hamlet possess the willingness to
risk the lives of his friends, family, and of himself in order to fulfill his late father s request. Hamlet
displays that he will commit any sin necessary to be able to kill his uncle, King Claudius, the man who
committed murder. While Hamlet is consumed by this, he makes careless decisions that hurt those
around him. Even though Hamlet plans to assassinate King Claudius exclusively, his negligence and
recklessness throughout the play lead to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet spends most of his time plotting to kill the King, not obsessing over a girl. Despite her
conversation with Hamlet in 3.1 where he suggests that she become a nun, she still believes that they
are in love. Her love for Hamlet is sparked once again in 3.2 where he decides to sit by her at the play.
Hamlet s mother, the Queen, asks Hamlet to sit down and watch the play next to her. Hamlet replies,
No, good mother. Here s metal more attractive. This statement, along with the preceding flirtatious
conversation, leads Ophelia to believe that Hamlet loves her. However, Ophelia becomes consumed
with her own madness when Hamlet murders her father. After Ophelia displays her insanity to the
King, the Queen, and her brother Laertes, she ends her suffering by committing suicide in the river.
Unlike the death of Polonius, Hamlet is physically uninvolved in her death. In Ophelia s mind though,
he was in love with her and he had betrayed her with the murder of her father. This is what ultimately
broke her heart and prompted her to take her own life. Since Ophelia killed herself, she was
considered a disgrace to the church and was not given a normal funeral. When Hamlet arrives at the
funeral of Ophelia he exclaims, What, the fair Ophelia! (5.1.238) While he does show sympathy for
Ophelia s death, these feelings of compassion are far too belated to have any meaning to her brother
Laertes.
After the death of his father and

Essay On The Hunt For Red October
Karl Marx popularized the communist slogan, From each according to his ability, to each according to
his needs . In Russia prior to 1991, communism was the form of government and demanded complete
subordination of self to the greater good of the collective. The Hunt for Red October shows a major
contrast between Soviet and the American lifestyles. It was a fight between differences in political
ideology; capitalism versus communism; liberty versus equality. It is the American belief in freedom
that provides us the opportunity to strive to be better and accomplish more both individually and
collectively.
This story takes place in the 1980 s during the Cold War when tensions between the Soviet Union and
the United States were high. Mutual mistrust and fear drove the need to assure citizens of their safety
and protection. Both countries relied heavily on military prowess such as submarine technology, the
main setting in this novel, to show strength. Jack Ryan, an analyst for the CIA, symbolizes the
American patriot. He uses logic and understanding of military history to determine that a Russian
submarine is trying to defect, while others in the U.S. government believe the Russians main intent is
to attack. Marko Ramius, the Captain of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Literary Devices In Ambush By Tim O Brien
Traumatized Literary devices are what make the story come alive and give the reader a feeling of
actually being there. The literary devices increase a reader s interest in the story and also helps keep
the audience engaged. They help create a more fascinating plot. In the short story Ambush by TIm O
brien uses them to develop a character so much more. Mr. O brien used internal conflict, external
conflict, and flashback to put the reader in the character s shoes throughout the story. This helped us
see that the narrator thought the war was traumatizing. To begin, O brien used the literary device, Man
vs. Self, to relay that war is a traumatizing experience. One thing he said that shows this is, when I m
reading a newspaper or just sitting or just sitting alone in a room I ll look up and see the young man
coming out of the morning fog. He is trying to cope with it everyday that he had to kill a man that had
done no harm to him. He sees the young man walking past him often as constant reminder. He also

Why Environmentalists Hate Capitalism
Environmentalist and Capitalism
The discussion we had in class and in the document is asking, Why do Environmentalists Hate
Capitalism? and How Do Humans Affect the Environment? Well let s start off with the
Environmentalist; they love to make the world a much safer and cleaner world. They think that
Capitalist want to do more and take up more , making gas more expensive , taking more trees down to
build more of what we need and mostly not need, It s our wants and our needs. However, the
Environmentalist feels that the Capitalist want to take down trees for our own good. No, that is not
true, we try to cut down trees and make buildings for the Environmentalist but they think it s for our
own good.
In 2020, the world will end because right now, China is falling slowly, and we mostly rely on China.
Capitalist need to focus more on what they are doing with the resources and not use as much as they
usually do. For example, instead of a whole acre we could use half of it. We could possibly own less
cars, most of us have two or three cars. We can cut down to one to make it easier on everyone else and
the world. But the Capitalist want money, they don t really care about the environment. They do
whatever they can to make money and try to please people more so they can get more money. If all
Capitalist care about is making more stuff, capitalism may be the best system ever. But if you want to
save the planet from environmental catastrophe our current economic system is a dead end. ... Show

My Experience In Life
There are many moments in an individual s life where they succeed and learn dramatically from their
experience. It could be mentally, physically, or lead them to a higher self esteem and self confidence.
It could be the littlest success such as making a pancake, but it can have so much impact on a persons
self worth. Success can have many different definitions depending on who you ask usually, but at the
end of the day, it s usually improving either as an individual or at a certain task. To begin with, I
believe if you put your mind into something, you can do anything. Growing up, my family has always
had high expectations for me and I ve always felt very determined despite the pressure. Last year, I
had to take the class precalculus which to some people it may come as a very easy or hard thing to
take. It was a very new type of class, and honestly I was taken out of my study comfort zone because
it did require a large amount of hours and work. I would sacrifice so much time such as socializing
with my friends and family, to be the best I could possibly be, and I learned so many study habits I did
not have before the class. I consider taking the class, success as a learner because it was a very
impacting and eye opening experience that will come very useful to me in the future. Furthermore,
being a Latina, I am trying my hardest to achieve the best grades possible to beat statistics and
graduate college. In fact, I am taking numerous

Essay On Soccer In America
When you travel to Madrid, Spain you look around and you see soccer, otherwise known as futbol
there, everywhere possible. On the day of a soccer game, the streets suddenly empty, the stadiums fill,
and people everywhere else sit by their televisions and root on their favorite soccer club. As they cheer
on their teams, they understand the game and get into the game like one would do for football in
America. When you travel 4500 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, it s a whole different lifestyle.
America s flip their TV on and scroll through the ESPN and sports section and see nothing but
basketball, baseball, football, and occasionally a hockey game. If you are a fan of soccer though it s
obvious, you aren t going to find anything on TV having to do with it. Why must soccer be so
overlooked in the United States? Why is the world s most popular sport so cared about so little in
America? If you are talking about sports in a normal American setting, teams like the Yankees, Red
Sox, Cowboys, or Lakers will most usually come up. These are obviously the most common sports
teams in the US today, but why don t we hear about teams like LA Galaxy, Real Madrid, or

Happy Life Essay
A Happy Life That I Once Thought Was Impossible
I believe that an ideal life is mostly based on happiness. It took me a while to discover what truely
makes me happy because in my childhood, I perceived happiness as something unreachable by
mankind. Especially, because of my struggle. We live in a world of so much problems and crisis. And.
. . I come from a place that s full of it Africa. If we think of it, real happiness doesn t come to us in an
easy way. I agree with Tzu s definition of happiness in his book: a desire or a fortune that remains
eternity. According to Tzu, happiness is a fortune just as wealth and fame. Just to be honest, I had once
thought that an everlasting happiness I unattainable. But, that was before I discovered that self
satisfaction and contentment results in a happier life. I achieved my happiness after I went through
some situations and circumstances that hit my life for good. Before I share my story, I d like to make a
salient point that God is the bedrock of the overflowing fountain of happiness that prevails in my life.
Through prayer and hard work I achieved an indescribable life of so many blessings and it all
happened in the year 2014.
Just like I said, the year 2014 was a blessed year of my life. God gave me an opportunity to live a life
full of so much fulfilment and happiness. During that year, I was able to overcome a lot of
circumstances. For a long time I had hoped for things to get better after I lost my dad. Things began to

Process Of A Bill Becoming A Law In The State Of Texas
The process of a bill becoming a law in the state of Texas can be harsh and brutal. With the number of
complicated steps accompanied by the forces of many different delay tactics, the process can prove to
be exhausting.
There are seven basic steps: Introduction, referral or assignment to house or senate committees,
considered in house or senate committees, placement of bill on a legislative calendar, considered on
the house or senate floor, signed or vetoed by governor, and lastly the bill does or does not become a
law.
Introduction of a bill requires both house and senate members to file a written bill with each of their
corresponding clerk members. The clerk then submits the bill to alphanumeric designation where it is
available to the eyes of lawmakers and citizens so that they make track its progress. There is a specific
time bills can be submitted. They can be submitted the Monday after the November general election.
This step can be influenced by many figures outside of Legislative. Interests groups influence
legislation as well as the Governor can influence legislation. At this point there are no delay tactics
that could prevent the bill from moving on to step two.
After introduction of the bill, the referral or assignment to house or senate then takes place. In other
words, the bill is assigned to standing committee. The Speaker and Lieutenant Governor appoint
committee members and chairs. This gives the presiding officers great power and these vital decisions

Data: The information provided for this research project came from the General Social Survey, (GSS).
Using IBM s SPSS predictive analytics software I analyzed the data to determine the significance of
these factors. The alcohol variable I used accounted for the number of alcoholic beverages in a given
year (GSS variable DRINKYR ). The other variable tested for significance was marital status (GSS
variable MARITAL ). This method of sampling is considered random probabilistic sampling, as we
should be able to draw a conclusion with our results about the general population using entirely
quantitative data. In examining the data I will be searching for causality to determine the significance
of these factors and whether or not they correlate with over overall quality of mental health. Focal
Relationship: I believe that income will have the highest significance between the three of these
factors, that s why I ve chosen income and mental health as the focal relationship. Two variables are
needed to determine whether or not causality exists between mental health and income. The dependent
variable will be identified as an individual s amount of poor mental health days in the last 30 days
(GSS variable mntlhlth ). This data will be considered interval/ratio due to the close ended survey
question. Answers to the survey were provided in ranked numerical intervals representing the
frequency of respondent s poor mental health days in the past

Introduction
Mathematica Policy Research (MPR) and two consultants, Leigh Linden and Harounan Kazianga,
conducted an independent evaluation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation s (MCC) two year
threshold compact in Burkina Faso, which was aimed at increasing educational attainment for primary
aged girls. The goal of the Burkinabé Response to Improve Girls Chances to Succeed (BRIGHT)
program, implemented from 2005 to 2008, was to improve the educational outcomes of primary
school students by targeting enrollment rates, and math and French scores. MPR et al (2009) evaluated
whether or not the impact was the same for both boys and girls. Key findings of the BRIGHT
intervention include: (1) primary student enrollment increased by 20 percentage points, (2) math and
French test scores increased by 0.4 standard deviations, and (3) a positive impact for both boys and
girls.
Program Background
Desite mandatory school enrollment and free primary schools, Burkina Fas still has some of the
lowest primary school enrollment rates in West Africa. Prior to BRIGHT, the national government
began pushing primary school enrollment by constructing new schools and implementing various new
programs. Gross enrollment increased from 12 percent in 1970 to 56 percent in 2005; however, these
numbers did not show the urban rural disparities.
BRIGHT was designed to increase school enrollment and improve the educational attainment of
primary school children in villages where girls enrollment

Commander s Intent
The commander s intent is a critical part of mission command. The commander, through the
commander s intent, must blend the art of command and the science of control that integrates all joint
warfighting functions. ADM Wesley McDonald, Commander US Atlantic Command (LANTCOM),
failed to convey the commander s intent to the joint force for Operation Urgent Fury. This failure
promoted misunderstanding and mutual trust issues among the joint force that affected the integration
of joint functions such as intelligence and sustainment.

When planning for joint operations, Commanders must include all services and multinational partners
to promote understanding. A joint force that understands the capabilities and limitations among the
force builds trust across the force. LANTCOM command did not foster a climate of mutual trust
during Operation Urgent Fury. Trust is essential element during operations. Senior leader must trust
the abilities of subordinates and subordinates must have trust in senior leaders. The lack of mutual
trust began at the senior level of military command and continued during the execution of Operation
Urgent Fury. The JCS rejected LANCOM s attempts to blend ground forces and established boundary
lines between ground forces. Additionally, subordinate commanders did not trust the LANTCOM.
During the initial ground operations, a brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division came under attack.
Instead of requesting reinforcements through joint operation channels, the request for reinforcement
went directly to the 82nd Airborne Division rear staff. Mutual trust is difficult to build during
operations. US armed forces must seek every opportunity to conduct joint training exercises to build
mutual trust before operations. Joint exercises develop habitual relationships among the services and
promote mutual trust. The lack of mutual trust not only affects command and control but other joint
function such as intelligence. LANTCOM failed to coordinate and

Same Sex Marriage Is A Matter Of Civil Law
Same sex marriage is one of the most controversial issues in the modern world. In the past, marriage
was recognized as a social union between a man and a woman and in most cultures, homosexuality
was viewed as abnormal and forbidden.
However, today, homosexual relationships are fighting their way towards global acceptance as the
LGBT community has been extremely active, advocating for their right to marry since the early 90s.
With an increased in tolerance for homosexuality in society, controversy over the legalization of gay
marriage has become more pressing. To those against it, claiming it will have an overall negative
effect on society; gays claim that it is against basic civil rights to prohibit them from marrying ( What
Are The Reasons For And Against Gay Marriage ).
Same sex marriage is a civil matter, not a church affair, as marriage is a matter of civil law. Thus, it is
unconstitutional to deny equal civil rights to citizens, so it is unconstitutional to deny homosexual
couples the right to marry. When arguing about same sex marriage as a matter of civil right, people
appeal to the constitutional principles of equal protection and equal treatment (Skillen). As of 2015,
there are 37 states in which same sex marriage is legal, leaving 13 states with bans ( States ). The
Massachusetts Supreme Court was the first to legalize same sex marriage in May 17, 2004, after the

New School Parsons Personal Statement
I gravitated towards The New School Parsons because of their ability to see the future of art and
design. Parsons s initiative to teach students how to continually innovate themselves and adjust to the
world s constant evolution inspired me. I appreciate The New School s want to teach as well as help
students shift their mindsets, allowing them to be more open minded within their education. As a
student I consider myself to be a freethinker, believing in formulating my own opinions. Expressing
my views and inquires in a setting such as Parsons which would accept my unique approaches to new

The Importance Of Voting In Congress
Topic Statement The public in America is disillusioned to believe that they run the government as they
are on the top in the hierarchy of democracy. However in practice the incidents suggests that the rich
are ruling the country while the general public is left with no choice but to follow the rules set in favor
of the few. Ironically, there is an indifference towards this attitude in the general public as it is seen as
a part of the American dream. The issue of if contributors to a particular politician buy the respective
congressmen to vote in their favor is highly debatable. While certain groups believe that contributions
are made to campaign of a particular politician because the donators believe in the cause and issues
put forward by the candidate and want to support that cause. There is an increasing belief on
assumptions that donations to campaign of a political person leads to a high level of corruption where
congressmen vote for the people they have received donation from. Nowadays, the cost of election

reforms that were made in the financing process to control corruption would be explained and
effectiveness of these articles would be evaluated in light of the available evidence. Moreover
scholarly articles on the ways in which contributors bypass the laws limiting financial contribution
will also be given due weight in the paper. Negative impact of such practices in congress on the

Advantages Of Porter Diamond
Dunning (1977) states that the decisions on entry mode decisions are determined by the composition
of three sets of advantages ownership advantages, internalization advantages and location advantages.
If a firm possesses the more OLI advantages, the greater the propensity of adopting an entry mode
with a high control level such as wholly owned ventures, the outcomes shown in the figure below.
Stopford, John M.; Susan Strange; John S. Henley (1991) state that the eclectic paradigm contrasts a
country s resource endowment and geographical position (providing locational advantages) with firms
resources (ownership advantages), the four outcomes shown in the figure 2 below. If the firms possess
competitive advantages and higher in the transport costs than foreign locations , the firms therefore
make a FDI abroad in order to save the transportation costs. But if the country has locational

Cal Mccaffrey Ethical Issues Essay
Journalists are required to hold up certain ethical and legal responsibilities while on the job. They are
not supposed to have conflicts of interest, can not trespass, have to minimize harm, avoid invasion of
privacy, etc. While watching, State of Play we constantly see Cal McCaffrey, a journalist for the
Washington Globe and the main character, break ethical and legal responsibilities that journalists are
supposed to hold up. Specifically, he trespasses, has a huge conflict of interest, and invades the
privacy of others. We learn early on in the film that McCaffrey has a conflict of interest with the story
he is reporting on. Stephen Collins, a Senator from Pennsylvania, is McCaffrey s old college roomate
whom he has stayed in touch with for years. He also had an affair with Collins wife. When the story
hits that Collins may have had an affair with Sonia Baker, his head researcher, McCaffrey does not say
anything. The editor of the paper says to McCaffrey, Why do you only bring me stories about Collins
when he is looking for good publicity before an election? McCaffrey does not really say anything to
this and does not report on the story. However, when the story that McCaffrey is working becomes
connected to the Collins Affair story, he tries to help Collins and gives him many opportunities to get

Essay On Singlish
English is a language which is known for a very long time. From roughly 400 a.C. it started to develop
and this is still continuing. English has had a lot of invasions from languages while it eventually was
spread all over the world. Meanwhile there are a lot of different types of English. Almost in every part
of the world, English is influenced by other languages of that region. Just the same happened in
Singapore. An English based creole named Colloquial Singaporean English also known as Singlish
has developed here. At the moment there is a discussion going on about the question if the
Singaporean government should support or discourage Singlish?
Singlish is a language which has developed over a long time. It started to develop in the period of the
British colonial rule over Singapore (1816 1965). The British introduced British English and made

In fact, it is not, because it connects people, it brings people and thus a society together. The
Singaporean add a lot of value to it. Speaking Singlish is their unique identity. It is not just something
their government can decide to take away from the population, these are thoughts of a government
disconnected from their population.
Even though, the government cannot force the whole population to learn good English if people do not
want to learn it. They can point people in the right direction by showing them the benefits and
advantages of speaking good English. And in the end, the government needs to accept that Singlish is
going to stay and that it isn t their choice who wants to speak which language.
According to Colin Goh, a Singaporean filmmaker, people always play with a language which is also
the case with English and we are going to see the use of many vernaculars more and more in future.

Orality And Tradition
Like the tradition of English literature, the literary tradition of Barak Valley of Assam began its
journey with orality or oral tradition. It is believed that English literature originated with verses of an
extemporary kind (Albert 9) which were composed and verbally expressed long before the written
records. It is also interesting to note that poetry emerged much before the composition of prose as a
form of literature in written form. Most of the old English compositions derived their subject or theme
from religion and intended to deliver moral lessons. Likewise, orality and folk oral (literary and
cultural) tradition of Barak Valley are indeed extemporary in nature and are mostly in verse form.
Their rhymes are surprisingly well balanced and they convey some sorts of moral lessons experienced
in day to day lives.
The rural societies, abounded with rich tradition and folk culture, have always been the source of
inspiration for the writers of world s greatest literatures including Bengali literature which has
produced Nobel Laureates like Rabindranath Tagore (1861 1941). Orality or oral culture and ... Show

absent in oral cultures and hence, their scope and development of thoughts and ideas are, to some

Regional Anesthesia
Regional Anesthesia
Regional anesthesia is a type of medicine that temporarily blocks feeling in one area of your body.
You may have regional anesthesia before a medical procedure or surgery. A health care provider who
specializes in giving anesthesia (anesthesiologist) injects the medicine near a nerve or a group of
nerves. This makes that area of the body numb.
Regional anesthesia can be used alone or in combination with other types of anesthesia. Regional
anesthesia has many benefits compared to using general anesthesia on its own, such as:
Improved pain control after your surgery.
Less nausea, vomiting, or drowsiness after surgery. This is because less medicine is needed to control
pain.
A faster recovery.
There are three types of regional anesthesia:

You may need to have blood or imaging tests.
PROCEDURE
To reduce your risk of infection:
○ Your health care team will wash or sanitize their hands.
○ Your skin will be washed with soap.
Depending on the medical procedure you are having done, an IV tube will be inserted into one of your
veins.
The anesthesiologist will do a physical exam to find the best location to give the regional anesthesia. A
device (nerve stimulator) or imaging tool (ultrasound) may be used to help locate the nerve. This helps
prevent nerve damage.
You may be given a medicine to help you relax (sedative).
You will get regional anesthesia by injection or through a continuous infusion.
The anesthesiologist will check to make sure the medicine is working before the rest of your medical
procedure begins.
Depending on the type of regional anesthesia you received, you may have a small bandage (dressing)
placed over the injection site.
The procedure may vary among health care providers and hospitals.

The Importance of Music Education Essay
Imagine a world without music; it would be an extremely boring and quiet place to live. Music is
found in every kind of culture and has been used for thousands of years as a means of expression.
Music can deliver a message; it can be used as a vehicle for poetry; it can be appreciated for its
aesthetic qualities, or it can serve as nothing more than entertainment. Recently, many studies have
been conducted proving that music is vital to a child s education and development. However, many
school systems have had to make budget cuts, and one of the first things to be removed was the music

When a group of musicians are playing a piece of music together and someone plays a wrong note or
rhythm, the mistake is obvious and causes the ensemble to sound bad. However, in many other aspects
of life achieving less than perfection can be acceptable. Ninety five percent is usually a very
acceptable score on school assignments, but in music if you miss five notes or rhythms of every 100
that you attempt, the music will sound horrible, especially if you multiply that level of performance by
every member of the ensemble. Learning to play a musical instrument is difficult and time consuming;
learning to read music can be as challenging as learning a second language, but the difficulty and
challenge of mastering these skills can allow a person to be expressive on many levels. Simply writing
words to a song and creating a tune to go with it can be a form of therapy that boosts self confidence.
As Anna sang to Louis in the musical The King and I , When ever I feel afraid, I whistle a happy tune!

Upton Sinclair and His Influence on Society Essay
Upton Sinclair, the famous American author, wanted to be a great influence on society. He was born in
1878 in Baltimore, Maryland, from a family of Southern aristocracy. His father was an alcoholic and
his mother came from a wealthy family. When Sinclair was ten, the family moved to New York. His
father sold hats and spent his evenings in bars coming home drunk every night. As a child, Sinclair
was an excellent reader and scholar. By the age of fourteen, he began writing in his spare time. He
attended Columbia University and later he moved to Quebec, Canada. There he lived in extreme
poverty; not knowing from where his next meal would come. Through poverty, Sinclair came to see
the advantages of being a socialist. By the age of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Sinclair went to great lengths to ensure that his immigrant family was not foreign to the
American mind. Sinclair emphasized that their values of hard work, family togetherness, honesty, and
carefulness are the same as those of the reading public. People could see their own families as the one
in The Jungle. They could not withstand the effects of greed and competition any more than
individuals could. The Jungle impressed readers throughout the world and Sinclair became famous
almost overnight.
While influencing the families, the publication of The Jungle also influenced the workers of the meat
processing industry. Although Sinclair claimed that he had not been concerned with the meat
processing industry when he wrote The Jungle, it influenced the course of national legislation and
produced a permanent impact on American life. Sinclair criticized the social and sanitary conditions in
the Chicago stockyards. As soon as The Jungle was published, meat packers started working very hard
to clean up or hide the worst abuses. They were fearful of Roosevelt s investigations. The meat
packing scandal was front page newspaper material for weeks. The Jungle set off social protest and
violent reactions from the public. It was a single novel, and it sparked the same protests and reactions
from the workers of the factory.
The Pure Food and Drug Act was a result of Upton Sinclair s writing. After the release of The Jungle,

My Character, My Voice, And The Plot

To begin, I would rate my characters in my novel an emerging. One reason, is because my major, and
minor, characters are well explained. My main character Dylan, also known as my protagonist, is

The friend I give it to wouldn t even need to know me well enough to determine that the novel is
mine. It seems as if I am leaving my fingerprint in my novel as I write. Most people know that I m all
against sexistism, and I have proof of that in my novel. I also could be known to have an old soul,
meaning that I don t agree with what a lot of people do in this generation, and I d rather have it be like
old times, which is another point that can be found in my novel. I tend to use grade level vocabulary
when I write almost everything, and people could also find evidence of that in my novel.
Finally, I would rate the plot in my novel an emerging because of the not very strong climax. When
people think of a climax, they usually expect something like: the dark object inched closer and closer
to me. I had no clue what the mysterious shadow was, but it gave me a bad feeling. The monster
screeched a little, which almost made me fall off the bed. I blink once, and the creature is two feet
closer. I blink once more, and it is five feet closer. I blink, yet again, and the creature is right up to
face. I can literally smell its rotting breath. Sounds about right, correct? Well my climax, and I quote: I
zip down the entrance, but find myself face to face with a bobcat. Yes, you heard right, a bobcat! I
scream probably the loudest I ever have, and the bobcat growls a bit at me. The big cat even snarls its
two sharp, yellow, rows of teeth. I back away as much as I possibly

Critique Of The Maternal Repositioning During The Labor...
Introduction The research article that was chosen for critique was regarding the maternal repositioning
during the labor process and does this impact the progression of the birthing process. Upon reviewing
this article, it was obvious that the findings were in favor of maternal position changes during labor,
and that it did indeed have a positive impact on the progression of the labor process. The findings of a
positive impact on labor were indicated by maternal and fetal monitoring, maternal opinion of the
labor process, and the length of stages of labor. Below is an analysis of the article that was chosen to

Statement of the Problem As healthcare professionals it is our responsibility provide the best evidence

and failure to descend. All of these reasons can result in a cesarean section. Maternal repositioning
during labor helps achieve the safest desirable patient outcome.

The High Cost Of Samsung s Competition In The Electronics...
After a little over a decade since its establishment, Samsung, who was once a small business focusing
on exporting perishables is now one of the biggest manufacturing company in the world that revenue
of over $167 Billion. From an economic perspective, as technology changes becoming more efficient,
it gives other companies the ability to compete in manufacturing the products. As the electronics
industry continues to grow, more companies are competing with Apple. As of today, Samsung is one
of the largest competitors to Apple. Both companies are trying to win the technology market,
especially smartphones since they launched their own line of smartphones Samsung Galaxy in June
2009 and the iPhone in June 2007.
One of the reasons Samsung s still in this game of tug of war with Apple is Samsung s capability in
manufacturing their own components for the Galaxy smartphones. This gives them a rather strong
grasp on cost advantage compared to Apple. Even Apple uses a Samsung manufactured processors,
NAND flash and DRAM memory chips since the beginning (Forbes, 2016), which is why we see a
rather higher selling price for Apple s iPhone due to their cost to their supplier, Samsung. One way for
Apple to win over this is to attract Samsung loyal customers, who are said to be more price conscious,
by creating an inexpensive iPhone in a long run like the iPhone 5c that was discontinued at the end of
2015.
However, even if Samsung had this cost advantage over Apple, Apple is still

Protein Synthesis And The Proteins
Protein synthesis starts when the mRNA binds to a small ribosomal subunit and the first codon (AUG)
is positioned correctly for the initiation of protein synthesis. The AUG codon then base pairs with the
anticodon of tRNA carrying methionine. This methionine eventually becomes the first Amino Acid in
the polypeptide chain. Now a large ribosomal subunit binds to the complex and the reaction of protein
synthesis itself can begin. (Fig. 3) A ribosome has two sites where tRNA can bind. As a result, of the
events outlined above, the initiation codon, AUG, on the mRNA molecule is positioned at the first of
these sites on the ribosome, the peptidyl (P) site. The mRNA codon for the second Amino Acid is
lined up with the second site, the aminoacyl (A) site. From this point, the polypeptide chain elongates
by a cycle of three steps: The first step is the binding of the next tRNA to an anticodon complementary
to the next mRNA codon. The amino Acid carried by this trNA will be the next amino acid in the
polypeptide chain. The second step is the peptidyl transferase reaction, which results in the peptide
bond formation. The peptidyl transferase enzyme, which catalyses the reaction, is an integral part of
the large ribosomal unit. This enzyme attaches the first Amino Acid to the second one by a peptide
bond, so that the first tRNA is now empty and the second is holding both amino acids. The third step
in the cycle moves the ribosome along mRNA. This brings the next codon to the

  • 2. Enoch Arden Professor Beggs English 101 MW12 17 September 2009 Enoch Arden s Charity and Goodwill In Alfred Tennyson s poem of skilled writing, Enoch Arden , Enoch leaves his family to better serve them as a husband and father. The poem firmly establishes the perplexity of one s generous personality. Enoch leaves his family to better the lives for each of them in a manner that reflects a view of personal toil and hardship to support the family in economic downfall. Also in Enoch s absence it is written that Philip Ray provides for Enoch s children and wife Annie Lee, enabling the thought of generosity and charitable goodwill toward the character. As we are now living in the twenty first century, one may see this poem as not a literary work of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem comes out and states Miriam s good character, Miriam Lane was good and garrulous. Though her talkative personality she does not tell Annie nor Philip of Enoch s return. She promises twice to Enoch that she d give his blessings to his family and to announce his death as Enoch repeats his wishes to her on his deathbed. As these examples can now be seen self evident; there is no argument to not see this poem as not a literary work of art but a reinforcement of charity and goodwill. This work can be compared to any revolutionary writing; Enoch Arden revolutionizes today s world by inspiring one to become charitable and goodwilled. Enoch Arden, Philip Ray, Annie Lee, and Miriam Lane can all be seen as charitable and good willed people whom one may look up too. It is apparent these character s have all suffered but have refused for it to get in the way of their charity and goodwill manner. In our modern times of disillusioned goodwill, one can look to Enoch Arden . More specifically one can look to these wondrous characters for insight on charity and goodwill; though this may require sacrificing and downfalls one can only applaud Tennyson for creating such inspirational role models for today s ... Plastic Pollution And Its Effects There are many forms of pollution that occur from oil spills, radioactive wastes, urban air pollution, the release of greenhouse gases, or agricultural pollution, and one of the most preventable, plastic pollution. Plastic pollution is an accumulation in the environment of man made plastic products to the point that they become problematic and harmful to wildlife, wildlife habitats, or human populations. This accumulation is due to the excessive use of plastics, which has become a worldwide issue, and is accountable for approximately 10% of discarded waste. It has been calculated that 275 million metric tons (MT) of plastic waste was produced in 192 coastal countries in 2010, with as much as 12.7 million MT entering the ocean (Jambeck et al., 2015). Plastic pollution can be classified based on the overall size and thickness, as microdebris (2 µm), mesodebris (1 5 mm), or macrodebris ( 20 mm). Plastic can be very harmful to the land, waterways, and the ocean due to its extremely slow biodegrading process, which can exceed hundreds of years. Plastic debris can also be harmful to marine life causing, entanglement, ingestion of plastic waste, and exposure to the chemicals within plastics, which ultimately affect humans as well. There are many types of plastics that exist. These varieties are classified based on the method of their polymerization. Some of these classifications are as follows: polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE), high density polyethylene (HDPE), polyvinyl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2012, they paid nearly $2.8 trillion for healthcare services (Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services. 2012). This represents a tenfold increase in a single generation. Although some of the most expensive medical conditions to treat may not be preventable, there are a myriad of preventable diseases that add to the economic burden that Americans carry each year. When one also considers the rise in childhood obesity rates and other related and non related chronic illnesses, the role of nurses as educators in our schools and communities has become critical to the continued success of our nation. In 2009, data were collected by the National Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) that clearly demonstrated the relationship between health risk behaviors and academic achievement in high school students. Students with higher grades were less likely to engage in health risk behaviors such as cigarette smoking, alcohol use, unhealthy diets, and increased sexual activity. Unfortunately, the statistics reported by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for health risk behaviors in American adults were grim. In 2012, 42 million adults reported that they smoked cigarettes and nearly 47% of American adults have at least one major risk factor for heart disease or stroke. These included uncontrolled high blood pressure, uncontrolled high levels of LDL cholesterol, lack of aerobic exercise, and poor nutrition. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite her conversation with Hamlet in 3.1 where he suggests that she become a nun, she still believes that they are in love. Her love for Hamlet is sparked once again in 3.2 where he decides to sit by her at the play. Hamlet s mother, the Queen, asks Hamlet to sit down and watch the play next to her. Hamlet replies, No, good mother. Here s metal more attractive. This statement, along with the preceding flirtatious conversation, leads Ophelia to believe that Hamlet loves her. However, Ophelia becomes consumed with her own madness when Hamlet murders her father. After Ophelia displays her insanity to the King, the Queen, and her brother Laertes, she ends her suffering by committing suicide in the river. Unlike the death of Polonius, Hamlet is physically uninvolved in her death. In Ophelia s mind though, he was in love with her and he had betrayed her with the murder of her father. This is what ultimately broke her heart and prompted her to take her own life. Since Ophelia killed herself, she was considered a disgrace to the church and was not given a normal funeral. When Hamlet arrives at the funeral of Ophelia he exclaims, What, the fair Ophelia! In Russia prior to 1991, communism was the form of government and demanded complete subordination of self to the greater good of the collective. The Hunt for Red October shows a major contrast between Soviet and the American lifestyles. It was a fight between differences in political ideology; capitalism versus communism; liberty versus equality. It is the American belief in freedom that provides us the opportunity to strive to be better and accomplish more both individually and collectively. This story takes place in the 1980 s during the Cold War when tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States were high. Mutual mistrust and fear drove the need to assure citizens of their safety and protection. Both countries relied heavily on military prowess such as submarine technology, the main setting in this novel, to show strength. Jack Ryan, an analyst for the CIA, symbolizes the American patriot. In the short story Ambush by TIm O brien uses them to develop a character so much more. Mr. O brien used internal conflict, external conflict, and flashback to put the reader in the character s shoes throughout the story. This helped us see that the narrator thought the war was traumatizing. To begin, O brien used the literary device, Man vs. Self, to relay that war is a traumatizing experience. One thing he said that shows this is, when I m reading a newspaper or just sitting or just sitting alone in a room I ll look up and see the young man coming out of the morning fog. He is trying to cope with it everyday that he had to kill a man that had done no harm to him. He sees the young man walking past him often as constant reminder. • 10. Why Environmentalists Hate Capitalism Environmentalist and Capitalism The discussion we had in class and in the document is asking, Why do Environmentalists Hate Capitalism? and How Do Humans Affect the Environment? Well let s start off with the Environmentalist; they love to make the world a much safer and cleaner world. They think that Capitalist want to do more and take up more , making gas more expensive , taking more trees down to build more of what we need and mostly not need, It s our wants and our needs. However, the Environmentalist feels that the Capitalist want to take down trees for our own good. No, that is not true, we try to cut down trees and make buildings for the Environmentalist but they think it s for our own good. In 2020, the world will end because right now, China is falling slowly, and we mostly rely on China. Capitalist need to focus more on what they are doing with the resources and not use as much as they usually do. For example, instead of a whole acre we could use half of it. We could possibly own less cars, most of us have two or three cars. We can cut down to one to make it easier on everyone else and the world. But the Capitalist want money, they don t really care about the environment. They do whatever they can to make money and try to please people more so they can get more money. If all Capitalist care about is making more stuff, capitalism may be the best system ever. With the number of complicated steps accompanied by the forces of many different delay tactics, the process can prove to be exhausting. There are seven basic steps: Introduction, referral or assignment to house or senate committees, considered in house or senate committees, placement of bill on a legislative calendar, considered on the house or senate floor, signed or vetoed by governor, and lastly the bill does or does not become a law. Introduction of a bill requires both house and senate members to file a written bill with each of their corresponding clerk members. The clerk then submits the bill to alphanumeric designation where it is available to the eyes of lawmakers and citizens so that they make track its progress. There is a specific time bills can be submitted. They can be submitted the Monday after the November general election. This step can be influenced by many figures outside of Legislative. Interests groups influence legislation as well as the Governor can influence legislation. At this point there are no delay tactics that could prevent the bill from moving on to step two. The other variable tested for significance was marital status (GSS variable MARITAL ). This method of sampling is considered random probabilistic sampling, as we should be able to draw a conclusion with our results about the general population using entirely quantitative data. However, today, homosexual relationships are fighting their way towards global acceptance as the LGBT community has been extremely active, advocating for their right to marry since the early 90s. With an increased in tolerance for homosexuality in society, controversy over the legalization of gay marriage has become more pressing. To those against it, claiming it will have an overall negative effect on society; gays claim that it is against basic civil rights to prohibit them from marrying ( What Are The Reasons For And Against Gay Marriage ). Same sex marriage is a civil matter, not a church affair, as marriage is a matter of civil law. Most of the old English compositions derived their subject or theme from religion and intended to deliver moral lessons. The anesthesiologist will do a physical exam to find the best location to give the regional anesthesia. A device (nerve stimulator) or imaging tool (ultrasound) may be used to help locate the nerve. This helps prevent nerve damage. You may be given a medicine to help you relax (sedative). You will get regional anesthesia by injection or through a continuous infusion. The anesthesiologist will check to make sure the medicine is working before the rest of your medical procedure begins. • 31. The Importance of Music Education Essay Imagine a world without music; it would be an extremely boring and quiet place to live. Music is found in every kind of culture and has been used for thousands of years as a means of expression. Music can deliver a message; it can be used as a vehicle for poetry; it can be appreciated for its aesthetic qualities, or it can serve as nothing more than entertainment. Recently, many studies have been conducted proving that music is vital to a child s education and development. However, many school systems have had to make budget cuts, and one of the first things to be removed was the music program. Music is important in education for many reasons. When a group of musicians are playing a piece of music together and someone plays a wrong note or rhythm, the mistake is obvious and causes the ensemble to sound bad. However, in many other aspects of life achieving less than perfection can be acceptable. Ninety five percent is usually a very acceptable score on school assignments, but in music if you miss five notes or rhythms of every 100 that you attempt, the music will sound horrible, especially if you multiply that level of performance by every member of the ensemble. Learning to play a musical instrument is difficult and time consuming; learning to read music can be as challenging as learning a second language, but the difficulty and challenge of mastering these skills can allow a person to be expressive on many levels. Simply writing words to a song and creating a tune to go with it can be a form of therapy that boosts self confidence. As Anna sang to Louis in the musical The King and I , When ever I feel afraid, I whistle a happy tune! According to a book entitled Getting Ready for College Early: A Handbook for Parents of Students in the Middle and Junior High School Years: Many colleges view participation in the arts and music as a valuable experience that broadens students understanding and appreciation of the world around them. • 34. Upton Sinclair and His Influence on Society Essay Upton Sinclair, the famous American author, wanted to be a great influence on society. He was born in 1878 in Baltimore, Maryland, from a family of Southern aristocracy. His father was an alcoholic and his mother came from a wealthy family. When Sinclair was ten, the family moved to New York. His father sold hats and spent his evenings in bars coming home drunk every night. As a child, Sinclair was an excellent reader and scholar. By the age of fourteen, he began writing in his spare time. He attended Columbia University and later he moved to Quebec, Canada. There he lived in extreme poverty; not knowing from where his next meal would come. Through poverty, Sinclair came to see the advantages of being a socialist. By the age of ... Sinclair emphasized that their values of hard work, family togetherness, honesty, and carefulness are the same as those of the reading public. People could see their own families as the one in The Jungle. They could not withstand the effects of greed and competition any more than individuals could. The Jungle impressed readers throughout the world and Sinclair became famous almost overnight. While influencing the families, the publication of The Jungle also influenced the workers of the meat processing industry. Although Sinclair claimed that he had not been concerned with the meat processing industry when he wrote The Jungle, it influenced the course of national legislation and produced a permanent impact on American life. Sinclair criticized the social and sanitary conditions in the Chicago stockyards. As soon as The Jungle was published, meat packers started working very hard to clean up or hide the worst abuses. They were fearful of Roosevelt s investigations. The meat packing scandal was front page newspaper material for weeks. The Jungle set off social protest and violent reactions from the public. It was a single novel, and it sparked the same protests and reactions from the workers of the factory. The Pure Food and Drug Act was a result of Upton Sinclair s writing. • 35. My Character, My Voice, And The Plot NaNoWriMo, which means National Novel Writing Month, has been introduced at my school. The seventh and eighth grade classes had the honor of trying it out, and I was one of the students that got to. I have strengths and weaknesses in my novel that determine the characters, my voice, and the plot. To begin, I would rate my characters in my novel an emerging. One reason, is because my major, and minor, characters are well explained. My main character Dylan, also known as my protagonist, is practically explained in every single sentence, except for the beginning of course. The beginning explains how each of the main supporting characters act, along with the protagonist. I believe that I explained the supporting characters well enough that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The friend I give it to wouldn t even need to know me well enough to determine that the novel is mine. It seems as if I am leaving my fingerprint in my novel as I write. Most people know that I m all against sexistism, and I have proof of that in my novel. I also could be known to have an old soul, meaning that I don t agree with what a lot of people do in this generation, and I d rather have it be like old times, which is another point that can be found in my novel. I tend to use grade level vocabulary when I write almost everything, and people could also find evidence of that in my novel. Finally, I would rate the plot in my novel an emerging because of the not very strong climax. When people think of a climax, they usually expect something like: the dark object inched closer and closer to me. I had no clue what the mysterious shadow was, but it gave me a bad feeling. The monster screeched a little, which almost made me fall off the bed. I blink once, and the creature is two feet closer. I blink once more, and it is five feet closer. I blink, yet again, and the creature is right up to face. I can literally smell its rotting breath. Sounds about right, correct? Well my climax, and I quote: I zip down the entrance, but find myself face to face with a bobcat. Yes, you heard right, a bobcat! I scream probably the loudest I ever have, and the bobcat growls a bit at me. The big cat even snarls its two sharp, yellow, rows of teeth. I back away as much as I possibly ... Statement of the Problem As healthcare professionals it is our responsibility provide the best evidence based care, that produce desirable outcomes for the patient. During the labor and delivery process many critical issue can arise for many reasons. One critical issue is the length of labor for the mother and fetus. • 37. The High Cost Of Samsung s Competition In The Electronics... After a little over a decade since its establishment, Samsung, who was once a small business focusing on exporting perishables is now one of the biggest manufacturing company in the world that revenue of over $167 Billion. From an economic perspective, as technology changes becoming more efficient, it gives other companies the ability to compete in manufacturing the products. As the electronics industry continues to grow, more companies are competing with Apple. As of today, Samsung is one of the largest competitors to Apple. Both companies are trying to win the technology market, especially smartphones since they launched their own line of smartphones Samsung Galaxy in June 2009 and the iPhone in June 2007. One of the reasons Samsung s still in this game of tug of war with Apple is Samsung s capability in manufacturing their own components for the Galaxy smartphones. This gives them a rather strong grasp on cost advantage compared to Apple. Even Apple uses a Samsung manufactured processors, NAND flash and DRAM memory chips since the beginning (Forbes, 2016), which is why we see a rather higher selling price for Apple s iPhone due to their cost to their supplier, Samsung. One way for Apple to win over this is to attract Samsung loyal customers, who are said to be more price conscious, by creating an inexpensive iPhone in a long run like the iPhone 5c that was discontinued at the end of 2015. However, even if Samsung had this cost advantage over Apple, Apple is still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Protein Synthesis And The Proteins Protein synthesis starts when the mRNA binds to a small ribosomal subunit and the first codon (AUG) is positioned correctly for the initiation of protein synthesis. The AUG codon then base pairs with the anticodon of tRNA carrying methionine. This methionine eventually becomes the first Amino Acid in the polypeptide chain. Now a large ribosomal subunit binds to the complex and the reaction of protein synthesis itself can begin. (Fig. 3) A ribosome has two sites where tRNA can bind. As a result, of the events outlined above, the initiation codon, AUG, on the mRNA molecule is positioned at the first of these sites on the ribosome, the peptidyl (P) site. The mRNA codon for the second Amino Acid is lined up with the second site, the aminoacyl (A) site. From this point, the polypeptide chain elongates by a cycle of three steps: The first step is the binding of the next tRNA to an anticodon complementary to the next mRNA codon. The amino Acid carried by this trNA will be the next amino acid in the polypeptide chain. The second step is the peptidyl transferase reaction, which results in the peptide bond formation. The peptidyl transferase enzyme, which catalyses the reaction, is an integral part of the large ribosomal unit. This enzyme attaches the first Amino Acid to the second one by a peptide bond, so that the first tRNA is now empty and the second is holding both amino acids. The third step in the cycle moves the ribosome along mRNA. This brings the next codon to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
