Marketing the Water Taxis
I believe that the idea for water taxis in Miami could work. There are a few reasons for this
recommendation. The research has shown that the water taxi concept is profitable if the pricing
structure is left to the operators (Cook, Mahon McConney, 2007). The idea holds water when the
economics of the concept are fully studied. In general, however, these deal are executed on the
basis of public private partnerships, and that is something that has further implications for policy.
I believe that the big idea addresses both public and private stakeholders. In addition to the
potential customers, I believe that stakeholders include individuals who seek a wide range of
outcomes. Savas (2000) makes note of the role that public private partnerships often play in these
types of situations. Because the idea is tied up in the issue of public transportation, there are public
consequences, even if the business is entirely private. Often, such businesses are not private,
however, and this raises the specter of influence from local politicians. Usually, politicians from
nearby will favor a policy of water taxis but politicians from areas of the city or county not close to
the water will oppose the water taxi concept.
The target market will be mixed. Some of the target market will consist of those who re in town
temporarily, the tourist trade. By linking the cruise ship terminal with downtown Miami and South
Beach, the water taxi will deliver a service that the average visitor finds

I Chose University Meadows Elementary School
I chose University Meadows Elementary School K 12 education center not because it was the
closes school in my neighborhood but because of the title that the Elementary school had. I
actually had three other schools that were in my neighborhood or close to it. I at first assumed
that the Elementary school was a private school because of the word University at the beginning of
the schools title. Also because of the title of the school I thought that the school I would be visiting
would be large, well funded, and have a verity of different students that attended the school. The
school turned out to be quite small from other Elementary schools that I had visited in my
neighborhood. It was also quite small compared to my own Elementary... Show more content on

So I had to settle with just being able to take pictures of the school and the diversities that the
students see every day. One sociological theme is illustrated throughout these photos. It is the
diversities that can be seen in a public school, in Mecklenburg County. The sociological
literature on the diversities in schooling includes several chapters we ve read, including Chapter
1 and chapter 7 readings. These chapters demonstrate diversities that can be seen in schools,
such as gender, race, and sexism. Together these readings support the patterns that the photos
reveal. This picture was taken in the main office where all visitors, students, and faculty can see.
They were self portraits drawn by students at the school, representing the diversity of students at
the school. Sadly it did not completely represent the diversity I saw in the students at the school,
while I was visiting. One of the most interesting things I saw and related back to class was the
traditional American Mercator maps that are seen in classrooms everywhere in America. They
do not represent the diversities seen in the other Mercator maps seen in class or Peters Projection
Maps. The picture on the left can be seen in the front of the main building. The picture on the
right can be seen on one of the playground areas outside of the class room. We grow up with the
idea, from an early age, that these are the only maps and views of the world when it comes to North
America. This picture

A Research On Positive Accounting Theory
positive accounting hypothesis (PAT) estimates that, in flawed markets, accounting decision may be
controlled by directors looking to impact reported income and capital structure (Watts and
Zimmerman, 1978). Specifically, the positive accounting hypothesis (PAT) contends that
accounting decisions are liable to be spurred by components, for example, supervisors extra
arranges, the company s obligation/value proportions and the more extensive political impact of
outsiders (Watts and Zimmerman, 1978; 1986).
The primary goal of this critique is to clarify how administration accounting created and the reasons
that have been propelled in scholastic writing to bolster this improvement. Since the field is so
expansive, we decided to study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

consequence of the requests of social orders which have needed to tolerate the expense of
tremendous corporate breakdown and the deceitful business exercises of a minority of business
experts. Actually the subject has turned into an industry with a few books on it being distributed, a

Positive Accounting Theory (PAT) concerned with predicting such actions as the choices of
accounting policies by firms how firms will respond to proposed new accounting standard.
PAT uses theory to predict the choices that management will make regarding their choice of
accounting policies.
This theory is introduced as a way to merge efficient securities markets with economic
consequences
PAT takes the view that firms will conduct themselves in the way that maximizes their own best
interests.

Maya Dance Rites
RITUALS Dance had an important role in the Maya rites, since they were used as a connection
between the ruler and the goods. The dances used music, which represented cosmic harmony given
the fact that involved rhythm. It was assumed that the gods set the universe motion through dance.
Therefore, the dances were used for initiation rites, celebrations of beginning war, celebrations of
victory, fertility rituals, astronomic and calendrical celebrations, cosmogonic rites and rites
associated with death.
Some examples of dances are: the Holmul Dancer, which was used for fertility ceremonies; the Ix
tzul dance performed by the Hero Twins, this dance was characterized by the use of masks and
the legend it told, which was how the Robinal warrior was captured and sacrificed by the
Quinche lords. According to the book, The Maya Voices of the Stone, people were able to know
more about Maya Dance Rites, since there has been some evidence that show some of the the
dances, given the fact that they were drawn on vessels and paintings. ... Show more content on

Thompson believed that every individual, know matter how weird, had a say in politics and
possessed power to influence elections with just one vote. These views in the 1970s gave way
too many views easily expressed today like when MTV began Rock the Vote , encouraging
young voters to stand up and let their voices heard as well letting them know their voice
mattered. Thompson s life style played a pivotal role in many avenues of American pop culture
such as art, movies, and creating a cult following that is still strong today. Most illustrations of
Thompson s work came from the artist Ralph Steadman who became a famous artist, and won
many awards in his life. From Steadman s popularity, he continued to illustrate many books such
as Alice in Wonderland, Fahrenheit 451, and Animal Farm. (Graham) There were three movies
made from Thompson s writings to include Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Rum Diaries, and
Where the Buffalo Roam staring Actors such as Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro, and Bill Murray.
Gonzo journalism and other writings from Thompson created a cult following that influenced
journalist, writers, actors, musicians, and even teenagers who looked to him for a voice. Many of
Thompson s followers go as far as to get his iconic gonzo fist symbol tattooed on them to show
their support. Thompson s influence remains strong in America with its reach expanding to all

Empiricism In Dracula And Frankenstein
The Enlightenment or Age of Reason , was a period roughly around 1685 to 1815 during which,
movements such as the rise of empiricism, natural philosophy and modern scientific inventions
were quite prevalent especially preceding and during the Victorian era. Literature written within the
Victorian period of 1837 to 1901 was largely influenced by these movements and often portrayed an
opposition or alignment towards them. Dracula and Frankenstein can be great examples, both
written during, or slightly after The Enlightenment and Victorian era, while being great examples of
Gothic Fiction . As such, today s discussion will summarize the way in which Victorian literature
specifically Dracula and Frankenstein were both influenced by movements during the The
Enlightenment . Foremost, rationalism was overshadowed by empiricism during this time period.
Rationalism a philosophy which relied on reason and knowledge was opposed by an emerging
philosophy known as empiricism. Empiricism resonated with many individuals during The
Enlightenment because it stated that, knowledge is acquired through observation and sensory of an
individual the basis on which science and therefore The Enlightenment was built on. Consequently,
this theme is often visited throughout Dracula and Frankenstein. For instance, in Dracula, page

Study of Extreme Islamic Terrorist Groups
Study of Extreme Islamic Terrorist Groups
Terrorist groups have been involved in political violence dating back to the Greek and Roman
Empires. Terrorist Groups have used violence, and terror to seek political change. In the thirteen
and fourteenth century, Italy was very volatile. The government went through many changes the
use of violence and force was used to terrorize the opponents. In the Age of Revolutions, Muslims
began practicing the form of the suicide attacker. The attacks occurred in Malabar, against the
Portuguese, Dutch, and British (Lutz J., 2005).
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines terrorism as the use of violence acts to frighten the people
in the area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal (Terrorism, 2013). The United States Code
113B, recognizes two forms of terrorism, international and domestic terrorism.
International terrorism means activities with the following three characteristics:
Involve violent acts or acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
Appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of
a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass
destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and occur primarily outside the territorial jurisdiction of

Variability Within The Dopamine System
Heterogeneity within the dopamine system becomes apparent early on in midbrain development.
Dopamine neurons are derived from the sonic hedgehog positive floor plate (Abeliovich and
Hammond, 2007; Blaess et al., 2011; Hayes et al., 2011; Joksimovic et al., 2009; Kittappa et al.,
2007). These immature neurons migrate from the ventricular zone into the mantle guided by a
complex network of interacting signalling and spatiotemporal expression of several transcription
factors, (Chung et al., 2005; Di Salvio et al., 2010; Simeone, 2005; Smidt and Burbach, 2007;
Smits et al., 2013). Some of this variable expression pattern also extends into adulthood: Ardbk2,

The transcription factor Otx2 is prevalently detected in TH+ neurons located ventral medial
VTA neurons, and this distribution is gradually decreased in the central and dorsal lateral VTA.
It has also been shown that Otx2 is sporadically co expressed with Girk2, while most if not all of
the Otx2+ neurons are Calb+, and those located in the ventral VTA are also Ahd2+ (Di Salvio et
al., 2010; Liang et al., 1996; Schein et al., 1998; Simeone et al., 2011). Despite this slight
anatomical and molecular topography, the cell bodies are still largely intermingled within the
midbrain nuclei (Fig 1).
One recent study attempted to deconstruct the molecular diversity of the midbrain dopamine
system. They postulated the existence of several molecularly distinct dopamine neuron subtypes and
used a microfluidic dynamic array to simultaneously evaluate the expression of 96 genes in single
neurons (Poulin et al., 2014). Using this method identified two main clusters of neurons. They also
uncovered 10 genes that appeared to be expressed uniformly in all dopamine neurons (PD linked
genes: Atp13a2, Lrrk2, Park2, Park7, and Pink1. Transcription factors: Foxa1, En1/2, Lmx1b, Pitx3,
and Nr4a2). Although informative, this study does have some limitations. Firstly the method used
restricts the identification of novel subgroups to a combination of only 96 different genes taken
from previous gene expression studies. This could have

Hiding One s Identity Is Nothing New
Hiding one s identity Is nothing new. Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay authored
The Federalist Papers in 1787 under pseudonym Publius. The ability to communicate anonymously
is viewed as part of our basic right to free speech . With the advent of computers and ease of access
to the internet, becoming anonymous as never been easier, and is far more reaching than the
colonial newspapers of 1787. For some this ease at which we can communicate anonymous is cause
for concern. Although we are no longer hiding our identities to promote the ratification of the
Constitution, being anonymous still plays a large role in our society. Online anonymity grants
anyone with an internet connection an unbiased voice, regardless of gender, race, or wealth.
Without this freedom to online anonymity many people would not feel free to express themselves
or release sensitive information about themselves or about corruption, in the case of
whistleblowing. Anonymity can also be used as a security measure and prevent unauthorized
mining of personal information. Although multiple ethical framework will be used and compared,
using a consequence based framework will be the main examining point throughout. The use of the
term anonymous can be confusing from an online perspective. When speaking of anonymity in
such a sense it is not related to the degree of traceability, but to the lack of aspects such as image,
voice, and situation in the online social environment . Those against online

King Jr Metaphors
On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr., a civil rights activist, delivered his renowned
speech, I Have a Dream on the Lincoln Memorial located in Washington to millions of Americans.
King relied on the use of metaphors, imagery, and anaphora to establish pathos; as well as to
convey his wish to live in a country where everyone has equal civil and economic rights no matter
their skin color.
King employs many metaphors throughout his speech to disclose emotions that can only be
represented by comparing two things. The most notable example is in the beginning of his speech
where he compares the lack of justice to a check with insufficient funds. By doing this, King makes
his audience acknowledge that the African Americanpopulation has been deprived of its freedom.
This example correlates with the rest of his speech speaking on how African Americans are treated
as less than human even after being granted their freedom in 1865. To fully understand why he
compares these two things the audience will need to know information regarding the 13th, 14th,
and 15th amendments and how they were supposed to give African American slaves equal rights.
This metaphor makes the audience recognize that African Americans... Show more content on

because they leave a long lasting impact on the audience s emotions. Martin Luther King Jr. s
message is relevant due to it being delivered at a time where segregation was at a high point. King

advertised online. It was found that she had high levels of anxiety, distress and a lack of
knowledge of what the DTC test outlined. The client admitted not being mentally prepared for the

of this stress.

Bowling for Columbine Thesis Statements
1) The high casualties caused by guns are a result of how easy it is to obtain one. If policies were
made stricter, casualties would go down.
I do not agree with this because it would only affect the people who go to obtain their guns
legally. If you really wanted one all you would have to do is steal it, so the policies would then
have no effect on you.
2) Minorities and blacks are made to be scarier than they are because they are always the ones
portrayed on TV causing the crimes.
I agree with this statement because when I listen to the news 90% of the time when I heard
crimes talked about they were committed by blacks or Mexicans. Only rarely do I hear of a crime ...

Columbine and Buell he held pro gun rallies in those towns, after he was asked to cancel.
I agree with this because it shows that even though he sees how guns have killed people, he is still
pushing for people to purchase them and supporting them fully.
7) Influence for violence is always put on the media and figure heads such as Marilyn Manson but
never on the president.
I agree with that because if you pay attention to society that s how it is. On the day Columbine
occurred the US also dropped the record number of bombs on Kosovo in the war, but when people
go to pinpoint the blame to say why Eric and Dylan shot up Columbine nobody ever blamed it on
the president.
8) Parents don t realize that it s harder for kids in school today than it was when they attended
school back in the day.
I agree with this because there is a lot more bullying in today s day in age than there was way
back when. Also kids take it more personally which messes with their self esteem quite a bit.
9) The US is so gun happy and has as many murders as it does because the media is continuously
pumping fear into us even if it s not true so that they have good stories to tell.
I agree with this because it has happened many times before. For example the Y2K bug which was
supposed to cause mass chaos with our computer systems never happened and the African

The Emergence Of The Taliban Essay
The beginnings of the Taliban can be tied back to the Soviet defeat in Afghanistan. The defeat of
the Soviet s was due to collaboration among various tribal leaders. The Soviet withdraw and the
shift in American foreign policy allowed the emergence of new rivalries and coalitions among
different Afghan groups, such as the non Pashtuns and Pashtuns, Sunnis v Shias, Ghilsais v
Durranis and also among the Pashtun tribes themselves. The Soviet withdrawal, ultimately, led to a
civil war among local warlords and created a vacuum of power for the Talibanto emerge. There are
many variables for why the Taliban emerged, such as: rape, lack of government, looting, warlords,
the misery of Afghan citizens, which all prompted the Taliban to disarm local populations and
impose Sharia law. Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban, looked at the rape and the murder of
boys, specifically, as a primary reason to form the Taliban (Akbar, 2015, pp.213 216). Thus it seems
that the Taliban emerged as the legitimate representative of Afghanistanin the 1990s. It also
important to note that the rise of the Taliban was not random but was also supported by Pakistan in
3 ways: first, through moral support, second, through military support, and third, through it s
recognizing the Taliban as the official government in Afghanistan. The original Taliban were
composed of former of Mujahedeen. They were from rural Pashtun tribes from southern and
southeastern Afghanistan. These tribes were friendly

Track Developmental Milestones
The reason why Ms. Carolyn stated that it is important to track developmental milestones is
because you will never know when you will catch something different from the child. It also helps
with making a milestone checklist because it helps with keeping up with each child s progress.
Because of using a checklist, it helps keep Ms. Carolyn in check and helps with thinking of things
her children should be doing next. It s also important to track developmental milestone because it s
useful for the families of the children. The reason why it is important for the families is because it
can give great information with families so they know what to look for next along with her. One of
the developmental milestones for nine months of age was language/communication.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Coastal Management
WHAT IS COASTAL MANAGEMENT?
Coastal management refers to the technique in which natural features of the coast are maintained
and protected from the threats of coastal erosion and coastal flooding.
Successful management of coastal areas depends on understanding the different uses of coastal land
and the physical processes impacting on the coast, such as erosion and longshore drift (BBC, 2014

Dead files by dead accounts may not be removed without the cooperation of the corresponding
users. In the paper Steganographic Schemes for File System and B Tree [3], they have introduced
StegFD, a practical scheme to implement a steganographic file system in which a plausible

securely in such a way that, an attacker will not be able to trace their existence, even if the
attacker has full knowledge of the hardware and software and data structures of the file system
.They have also proposed two schemes for implementing Steganographic B trees in a StegFD

threat to steganographic file systems (StegFS) is described which arises when the storage system is
untrusted and is shared by multiple users. In such cases, the attacker could obtain multiple
snapshots of the storage content and analyze them to deduce the existence of secret user data. To
solve this problem, they have introduced a Dummy Relocatable Steganographic (DRSteg) file

New Religious Movements and the Biased Media
What happened in Jonestown? How could sensible people follow the rantings of a crazed lunatic?
The questions and the simplified answers that are provided by the media coverage of Jonestown
and Heaven s Gate perhaps contributed to their downfall. The feeling of public persecution is a
central theme of many new religious movements, and the negative publicity of suicide cults only
fuels the fear of other like minded religious groups. The misleading definitions the media provided
for the how, what and why of these new religious movements were symptomatic of the media bias
against all such movements. Through examination of the print media response immediately

The Effect Of Chlorofluorocarbon And...
Chlorofluorocarbon and hydrochlorofluorocarbon refrigerants have been widely used in traditional
cooling systems. These refrigerants accelerate the depletion of the Earth s ozone layer. Therefore,
adsorption air conditioning technology attracted much attention recently as an alternative solution
due to its advantage of environmental friendliness. This system as it powered by waste and/or solar
heatcan help to reduce required energyand thermal pollution. This paper presents an overview of
research which have been carried out on adsorption cooling systems powered by waste heat from
automobiles.
Many adsorption pairs have been studied. Zeolite water as a working adsorption pair has been
widely used in automobile adsorption cooling systems. This pair has been powered by exhaust
gases from the engine due to its relatively high working temperature. Silica gel water pair has been
also widely used in automobile adsorption cooling systems. It has been powered by waste heat from
water coolant in the engine due to its relatively low working temperature. Results show that this
technology can help in increasing overall engine efficiency and reduce thermal pollution from
engines. Various modifications in adsorption cooling systems are still required. One of the
bottlenecks which prevents the improvement of adsorption cooling technology is its relatively low
performance compared to conventional vapor mechanical compression technologies.

Homeless And Non Homeless Lesbian, Gay, And Bisexual
The study examined two groups, homeless and non homeless Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual (LGB)
youths (Rosario, Schrimshaw, Hunter, 2012). There were a total of 156 participants between the
ages of 14 and 21 years with a mean age of 18.3 years. Participants were recruited from community
based organizations, which focused on youths and two college organizations of LGB students.
Researchers wanted to explore potential risk factors associated with the reason some LGB youths
become homeless, while others do not. The risk factors included experiencing sexual abuse,
negative responses from others based on one s sexual orientation, unbearable stress for the parent
or youth, and substance abuse. All of which are reasons one may run away from home and
become homeless. Lastly, researcher s hypothesized non homeless youth are less likely than
homeless youths to be involved in sexual abuse and early sexual identity development as it pertains
to LGB (Rosario et al., 2012).
The results revealed 75 of the 156 youths reported being homeless at some point, 57 had a history
of running away, 38 were evicted from their parent s home; 20 youths experienced both running
away and eviction (Rosario et al., 2012). From the 57 youths with a history of running away, 23

The Three Major Types Of Weapons Of Mass Destruction
There are three major types of weapons of mass destruction and those are nuclear weapons,
biological warfare agents, and chemical warfare agents. These weapons share their potential for
large scale destruction and the indiscriminate nature of their effects, notably against civilians.
WMD s challenges our peace and security here in the United States. There is a strategy for dealing
with weapons of mass destructions, and it is the three pillars, which are counter proliferation,
nonproliferation, and WMD consequence management. The United States has tried to stop other
countries; however, it has gotten to a point that if the United States is attacked with nuclear
weapons, then the U.S. will use WMD as a response to the attack. When it comes to weapons of
mass destruction in the possession of hostile countries and even terrorists, it is one of the greatest
security challenges facing the United States. The first strategy to combat WMD is counter
proliferation to combat WMD use, counter proliferations are fully integrated into the basic
doctrines, in trainings, and even equipping of all forces, since it is important for the U.S military
and appropriate agencies to be prepared to deter and defend against any possible WMD event.
With strengthened nonproliferation to combat WMD proliferation, in order to prevent states from
acquiring WMD and missiles, we must enhance diplomacy, arms control, multilateral agreements,
threat reduction assistance, and export controls. That is to slow and make it more costly to
access sensitive technologies, materials, and expertise. In addition, the laws and treaties that are
consistently violated by Iran for years, are the treaty of the non profeliration of nuclear weapons,
because they developed a nuclear program that is without the consent of the IAEA. They also has
held into chemical agents and acculturated their chemical stockpile. In the other hand, North
Korea has yet to give up its nuclear weapons, and North Korea has violated the obligations to the
IAEA, by actively developing nuclear weapons. North Korea is likely exchanging nuclear
expertise to Iran, Libya, and Pakistan. It has also sold missiles to Iran. they even have tested their
first nuclear weapon. As we can

The school boy unwillingly attends school and lack discipline. As he grow, he grows into a more

Still Alice Movie Comparison
Still Alice is a bleak American film adapted on Lisa GenovaВґs novel, it takes place in New York

Saving Private Ryan should have won the award. The whole class, which I attended, obediently

Due to Viola s early established courage and talent, she successfully plays the role of Romeo. This
element of the film further links Viola to the Queen, for Queen Elizabeth successfully plays a

nation to rival France and Spain; England s cities became centers of commerce, her navy controlled
the principal routes of trade, and her people pursued lucrative interests in Europe and the New

Payroll Taxes Essay
Payroll taxes first appeared numerous years ago and have since evolved, grown, and underwent
major changes. Payroll taxes are taxes that are paid by employers and their employees. Payroll
taxes are collected by the federal, state, and local governments to fund certain programs or projects.
The employee s taxproportion is typically deducted from the employee s wages every earning
period, and the employer fraction of the payroll taxes are paid directly by the employer and are
based upon their employee s wages. The amount of payroll taxes that must be paid are required to
be reported to the Internal Revenue Serviceand the employer s state and local taxing agencies.
Smaller businesses tend to lean towards independent contractors because the business is not
required to pay taxes for independent contractors. Independent contractors are considered self
employed and are responsible for the employee as well as the employer portion of payroll taxes.

which is essentially a mode of inquiry that constantly pursues the foundations of a problem. The

Revenge In The Film Gladiator
For almost three thousand years, revenge has been a central preoccupation of European literature.
( #2 ) Even today we as students of the world see Aristotle s influence around us. Especially in the
forms of entertainment that we seek, such as movies. The film Gladiator contains the need for
revenge; just like the many European literatures before its time. It also follows Aristotle s
guidelines of tragedy. The protagonist, Maximus, suffers from a thirst of revenge for the murderer
of his family. As the audience watches this film they are taken through a roller coaster of emotion
such as, sympathy for Maximus and fear for his defeat. In the film Gladiator, written by Ridley Scott
, follows Aristotle s guide to tragedy by depicting the protagonist s fatal flaw of vengefulness, the
audience s emotions of fear and pity while watching this film. Throughout the course of the film it
is obvious that Maximus s need to avenge the death of his wife and child is the driving force
behind his actions, and inevitable death. After a crucial change in power for the Roman empire,
General Maximus Decimus Meridiusis put into a tough situation. The new Caesar holds a grudge

Persuasive Essay On Homeless Animals
Homeless animals out number homeless people nearly five to one, and roughly six to eight million
enter a shelter where approximately three to four million are euthanized. These animals deserve a
second chance; they don t deserve to be neglected and forgotten. The majority of animals in shelters
show up because of circumstances that surround their owners, such as families moving or the
owner being terminally ill. As opposed to purchasing a pet, you can adopt one that will fit well into
your life style. When adopting, rescuing, or fostering a pet, you provide a home to a loving, yet
loyal, companion. Averaging about five holding days, most shelters will euthanize an animal on the
six day if not claimed by their owner or adopted. As you adopt... Show more content on

They are in need of your love and someone to love back, making them loyal to you, their hero.
Some have been previously owned and may be trained and others have a probability of receiving
training at the shelter homes, thus making the virtually trainable to suit you. Even with being
different shapes and sizes these animals can be more suitable to any environment, but may
require extra exercise, considering the physical activity they need and the amount of space of
your home. Keep in mind that all these animals require different care, and not all of them are lap
pets. When making them yours, by adopting, the pet you choose can make you their joy, by
being cheerful upon seeing you. These animals can be very caring towards you and on your
rough days may bring you joy. Alongside when your pet has its rough days, you can be the change
for their mood. These pets, should you adopt one, will become your best friend as you will to

Apple became a well diverse company with the leadership of Jobs they had 15 product lines
which were slashed down to 4 categories desktop and portable Macintoshes, for consumers and
professionals. (Pg3) Not only did they have 15 different products which placed them in several
different industries but they tried to depict themselves as Worlds greenest lineup of notebooks that
was energy efficient and used recyclable materials (Pg 4)
Rivalry
The rivalry in this industry is high with the four top Pc vendors Hewlett Packard, Dell, Lenovo,
and Acer accounted for 53.6 percent of worldwide shipments. (Pg 5) Even though it was Apple
who founded the first personal computer it was IBM that brought them into the conventional lives
of society. Within this time period there were a lot of mergers and acquisitions making rivalry
amongst firms even greater as every time this occurred these merged companies would have more
market share and more capital to help their business.
Threat of substitutes
A lot of these products were similar in many ways and allowed consumers to do pretty much the
same things. For example a Laptop had a camera as did an iPad as well as a Ultra book, an
iPhone and an iPod. All of these products could also go on the internet and have programs like
Microsoft office. Competitors also had the same attributes so I would say threat of substitutes is
high.
Threat of new entrants

Analysis Of The Crucible And Half Hanged Mary
The Crucible and Half Hanged Mary were written and based off of the Salem Witch trials. The
Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. More than 200
people were accused of practicing witchcraft and 20 were executed. Eventually, the colony
admitted the trials were a mistake and compensated the families of those convicted. This is
similar to today in that today, people are being accused of things they haven t done just because
they look a certain way or are similar to the people who actually did something bad. Being
falsely accused of something can send people into hysterics and send them into a downward
spiral. While both Atwood and Miller both seek to reveal the injustices incurred by the victims
of the Salem witch trials, Miller focuses on the effects of hysteria and religious zealotry on
society, while Atwood aims to commemorate the excruciating experience of a single victim. In
Half hanged Mary, the use of first person allows the reader to read the thoughts of the person
speaking or thinking and allows the connection between reader and character to grow. While in
the crucible, having the reader be told the story from the narrator s perspective allows the reader a
window to see into each and every character s thoughts. Miller wanted to show everything going on
from the thought of every character to what the character says. Miller writes, (laughing bitterly)...
(He turns suddenly toward a sound outside. He starts for the door as Mary

Element 80 History
Element 80, or mercury, is an element with quite an interesting and extensive history. I chose this
particular element because of this. I have a basic knowledge of mercury already, but I would
love to learn all that I can about it. I enjoy history and I take advantage of every opportunity I can
to learn more about it and from it. I am interested in this element because of the name it was given,
the uses we have and have had in the past for it, and the fact that the atomic numberis 80, which
includes two of my favorite numbers. As previously stated, mercury is number 80 on the periodic
table of elements. It is a metal, a transition metal to be exact. It has a symbol of Hg , an atomic
mass of 200.59, and there are 7 known stable isotopes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shiny metallic silver color, soft malleable consistency, and quick mobility make it fun for
young and curious children. Mercury was sold as a child s toy for many years. It could be bought
in a science kit or individually with the label of Quicksilver. Kids would collect it and play with it
like we play with modern slime. It would seep in through their skin and enter their blood supply, or
they would ingest it by touching their mouth, or face in general, after touching the substance.
Parents eventually linked their children s illness to mercury and it was discovered that the toy was
indeed poisonous; therefore everyone that came into contact with it was infected with Mercury

Nike Supply Chain Essay
Forecasting in the fashion industry is usually a complicated due to the fact that it s characterized by
high demand, short product life cycles and different varieties of product lines. Consequently,
managing customer demand tends to be difficult, for organizations have to avoid large volumes of
stock. In this industry, there s intense competition and consumers are price conscious; accordingly,
these factors have slowed the growth of this industry. As a result, this made it difficult for the
companies to create brands which can offer high quality products with cheap prices (Fernino et al.,
2012). Nikeis one of the most popular brands throughout the whole world and the world s leading

They compete on marketing expenditures, pricing, product offerings, cost of production,
technologies, and customer service (Fernino et al., 2013).
The supply chain is made up of suppliers, manufacturing centers, warehouses, raw materials, retail
stores, distribution centers, work in process inventory and finished products that typically flow
between the suppliers reaching customers (Slack et al., 2013). Supply chain management on the
other hand, combines all of these to ensure that the right quantities are distributed to the right
locations at the right time(Barratt, 2004). Nike s supply chain is centralized since the outsourcing,
designing of the product, and logistics are all controlled by the company s headquarters in
Beaverton, Oregon. Nike outsource most of its manufacturing products to overseas factories so that
it would produce shoes in Japan for lower costs than in the United States. However, when the
production costs in Japan increased; Nike shifted its manufacturing firms to Korea and Taiwan.
Later on, Korea and Taiwan experienced strong economic growth; as a result, Nike ended up
relocating in Thailand, China, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam (low cost countries). Nike

The Importance of the Passover Meal in The Gospel of Luke
The Gospel of Luke provides a window into the importance of social standards during the time of its
writing. One social standard the community emphasized was the importance of the communal
celebratory meal. In the Lukan community, these meals were used to display power, provide
benefaction, and were also part of worship. Keeping with the emphasis of meals, Luke used the
tradition of the Passover Meal to illustrate the Last Supper Narrative and its shift in meaning with
regard to the new covenant to the first century Christian community. It should be no surprise that
although the Lukan Jesusfollowed traditions of the community, he also instituted changes paving
the way for new traditions and rites for first century Christians. Due to the power and importance of
communal meals, the Lukan Jesus was able to leverage the meal as a way to establish the
sacramental rite of communion in the first century Christian Church. (Maybe say something in
thesis about new covenant sacramental, but all being invited, ie. Women s role at the meal) The
social setting of the community in the Gospelof Luke appeared to be different from the other
synoptic gospels. The book gave details of community building locations and styles. Due to
architectural descriptions and other terminology used in the narrative, the context of Luke s writing
appears to be more in line with that of a Hellenistic city, than the culture directly ruled by a Roman
government. The community however, was ruled

Delight In Disorder By Ben Herrick Summary
The poems Delight in Disorder by Robert Herrick and Still to be Neat by Ben Johnson display
similar themes. Both poems are written about natural beauty, Delight in Disorder , focuses more
on the careless beauty while Still to be Neat focuses on the simplicity of natural beauty. Although
these two poems are extremely similar because of their themes they are also different. Both authors
aim to unveil the true meaning of beauty through being natural and having a balance between
disorder and order in one s appearance. In Delight in disorder , Herrick describes a womanthat is
dressed without extreme care and her detail is more enticing and captivating than a woman who
has put all their energy and effort into dressing up. Herrick writes in lines 11 14, A careless
shoestring, in whose tie I see a wild civility; Do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in
every part (766), in these lines he is describing the elegance of the woman s imperfections.
Herrick is emphasizing in his poem that if a woman takes extreme care in her appearance it can
make her seem rigid and uptight. Herrick believes that a woman whose appearance is
disorganized comes across as easy going, and more approachable. Ben Johnson s, Still to be Neat
, the woman is described in line 9 as neatly dressed from her hair to her makeup along with her
loosely flowing clothes (767). Johnson is describing that he prefers and natural beauty rather than
the artificial beauty described in the poem. The

The Garden Of Forking Paths Rhetorical Analysis
Herrick Fang Writ 1 14, SI 2015 The Garden of Motivation In difficult situations, people attempt
to rationalize harsh tasks before completing them. In Jorge Luis Borges s fictional short story,
The Garden of Forking Paths, a Chinese man named Yu Tsun is forced to spy against the British
during World War I for Germany. His mission is to reveal the location of the city Albert, a task
he completes by killing Stephen Albert, a man with the same last name. But, Yu Tsun never wants
to kill him. He does not want to kill Albert because he detests Germany and respects Albert. Yu
Tsun appreciates Albert for solving his family s puzzling mystery, a mystery about a book that Yu
Tsun s ancestor wrote called the Garden of Forking Paths. At a first glance, it is questionable why
Yu Tsun kills Albert if he never wants to kill him. We notice that just like other people, Yu Tsun
needs to identify a strong rationalization before allowing himself to kill Albert, a rationalization he
discovers when Albert explains the meaning of the Garden of Forking Paths, an interpretation of
the universe that every choice creates a web of outcomes that all occur; Stephen Albert will
inevitably die in one of the many outcomes, so Yu Tsun feels justified of the assassination.

Kindergarten Vocabulary Instruction
Kindergarten Vocabulary: A Literature Review of Effective Instruction
Introduction
When students enter into the kindergarten classroom, they are greeted with a plethora of new
knowledge that they may have previously not had exposure, such as phonics, phonemic awareness,
fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Within these, vocabulary is often a major struggle for
many children in kindergarten. Young children are often exposed to vocabulary through
conversations, but not in a manner of teaching it explicitly. Through this literature review it was my
goal as a researcher to find primary studies that focused on high quality instruction in the field of
emergent vocabulary, especially in the kindergarten classroom. This topic came into fruition
through wanting to understand literacy practices in kindergarten classrooms, since the
implementation of Common Core State Standards. I began the research through developing a list of
key words and terms that were relevant to my chosen topic of kindergarten vocabulary instruction.
These terms included, but were not limited to kindergarten vocabulary instruction, effective
vocabulary instruction, vocabulary instruction, and kindergarten classroom practices. Using Eagle
search, Education Full Text, and Google Scholar I was able to find four pertinent studies using the
key term kindergarten vocabulary instruction . After reading the abstracts of these four studies, I
changed the key terms and searched emergent vocabulary instruction,

Benefiting from advertising the group identity and brand image rather than products/services of
each group. Attracting foreign capital (Indian government encouraged foreign investment) for
new ventures. Foreign investors feel more comfortable working with a reputable party. Appendix 7
provides evidence of this (e.g. ventures with IBM, AT T, Bell Canada). Establishing a code of
conduct to ensure quality and ethical business practices. Reducing chances of internal
competition (e.g. ACC, Tisco and Tata Chemicals). There were certain competitive threats due to
opening up the Indian economy. One brand, instead of many, will create a strong equity that will
benefit all Tata companies to fight competitors entering Indian market. 1. b)Having equity
interlocks among the Tata companies have a number of potential benefits including: Creating
common identity and aligning companies with the group s objectives Tata Sons having better
control across the whole group Having ability to use resources across more effectively (transfer
of human capital, utilising group s plants, facilities and services) that would lead to creating
various synergies and benefit from economies of scope. Ability to raise capital internally. This
is important in case of a hostile takeover. Many promoters have been increasing company holdings.

Masculinity In Bruce Wayne And Joey Tribbiani
Society is the number one determinant on how an individual is supposed to act given their sex. If
an individual is born with male reproductive parts, they must act a certain way in order to be
accepted by the larger population. When a boy starts to engage in certain activities that are not
defined as masculine he is shamed, and it is unbelievably hard to maintain his social status that he
may have once had, or was striving to attain. There are a few different theories when it comes to
masculinity and how it is defined. Also, actions that may be engaged that could hurt a males ego,
are expressing health concerns. Men feel like they should not express when they are physically in

When I think about Joey Tribbiani I think of the guy that has little manners, no filter, and cracks
a joke at the most inappropriate times. Also, he s the kind of guy that is physically hurt, as he
was in one episode on Friends, and refused to go to the doctor to get help, because of course he is
too much of a man. In addition, Joey is very smooth when it comes to whoever he is talking to,
whether it be another man or a female, and I feel as though the way that he gets what he wants, or
is respected is by his charismatic ways. As I have mentioned before, he is not the most
intimidating of men, but that does not mean that he doesn t fit under this hegemonic theory. As
for Bruce Wayne, he is extremely smart, unlike Joey who is not very educated at all. However,
Bruce Wayne is also very serious, he is your typical man that shows zero emotions, and if he does
it is extremely brief. Bruce Wayne manages to get the things he desires by using his intellectual
skills, or by literally buy whatever it may be for an outrageous amount of money. He is your typical

Vlad II came from a family of princes from the state of Wallacia. In the same year Vlad III was

These men were dedicated to crusading against the Ottoman Turks, whose faith was Islam, and

year, the Turks raided Transylvania and Dracul just let them pass through. This infuriated
Hunyadi and he had to fight and chase the Turks back through Wallacia and forced Dracul out of
Tirgoviste. Dracul went back to the Turks but they were not happy with him either and put him
in prison. While he was in jail, he made some promises the the Turks. He pledged to not go to
war against the Turks, agreed to pay a sum of money every year and he would send some of his
own Wallacian men to the Turks to be converted to Islam and trained as soldiers. The one
promise that would change the life of Dracula forever and was forced to keep was giving up
Dracula and Radu as hostages. In 1443, Dracul returned to Targoviste and became Prince of
Wallacia while his sons were forced out and traveled 700 miles where they became prisoners of the
Ottoman Empire.
The head of the Ottoman Empire at that time was Sultan Murad II, who they ended up living with

prisoners. They were educated by Turkish tutors who taught them mathematics, philosophy, read the

  • 2. Marketing the Water Taxis I believe that the idea for water taxis in Miami could work. There are a few reasons for this recommendation. The research has shown that the water taxi concept is profitable if the pricing structure is left to the operators (Cook, Mahon McConney, 2007). The idea holds water when the economics of the concept are fully studied. In general, however, these deal are executed on the basis of public private partnerships, and that is something that has further implications for policy. I believe that the big idea addresses both public and private stakeholders. In addition to the potential customers, I believe that stakeholders include individuals who seek a wide range of outcomes. Savas (2000) makes note of the role that public private partnerships often play in these types of situations. Because the idea is tied up in the issue of public transportation, there are public consequences, even if the business is entirely private. Often, such businesses are not private, however, and this raises the specter of influence from local politicians. Usually, politicians from nearby will favor a policy of water taxis but politicians from areas of the city or county not close to the water will oppose the water taxi concept. The target market will be mixed. Some of the target market will consist of those who re in town temporarily, the tourist trade. By linking the cruise ship terminal with downtown Miami and South Beach, the water taxi will deliver a service that the average visitor finds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. I Chose University Meadows Elementary School I chose University Meadows Elementary School K 12 education center not because it was the closes school in my neighborhood but because of the title that the Elementary school had. I actually had three other schools that were in my neighborhood or close to it. I at first assumed that the Elementary school was a private school because of the word University at the beginning of the schools title. Also because of the title of the school I thought that the school I would be visiting would be large, well funded, and have a verity of different students that attended the school. The school turned out to be quite small from other Elementary schools that I had visited in my neighborhood. It was also quite small compared to my own Elementary... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So I had to settle with just being able to take pictures of the school and the diversities that the students see every day. One sociological theme is illustrated throughout these photos. It is the diversities that can be seen in a public school, in Mecklenburg County. The sociological literature on the diversities in schooling includes several chapters we ve read, including Chapter 1 and chapter 7 readings. These chapters demonstrate diversities that can be seen in schools, such as gender, race, and sexism. Together these readings support the patterns that the photos reveal. This picture was taken in the main office where all visitors, students, and faculty can see. They were self portraits drawn by students at the school, representing the diversity of students at the school. Sadly it did not completely represent the diversity I saw in the students at the school, while I was visiting. One of the most interesting things I saw and related back to class was the traditional American Mercator maps that are seen in classrooms everywhere in America. They do not represent the diversities seen in the other Mercator maps seen in class or Peters Projection Maps. The picture on the left can be seen in the front of the main building. The picture on the right can be seen on one of the playground areas outside of the class room. We grow up with the idea, from an early age, that these are the only maps and views of the world when it comes to North America. This picture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Empiricism In Dracula And Frankenstein The Enlightenment or Age of Reason , was a period roughly around 1685 to 1815 during which, movements such as the rise of empiricism, natural philosophy and modern scientific inventions were quite prevalent especially preceding and during the Victorian era. Literature written within the Victorian period of 1837 to 1901 was largely influenced by these movements and often portrayed an opposition or alignment towards them. Dracula and Frankenstein can be great examples, both written during, or slightly after The Enlightenment and Victorian era, while being great examples of Gothic Fiction . As such, today s discussion will summarize the way in which Victorian literature specifically Dracula and Frankenstein were both influenced by movements during the The Enlightenment . Foremost, rationalism was overshadowed by empiricism during this time period. Rationalism a philosophy which relied on reason and knowledge was opposed by an emerging philosophy known as empiricism. Empiricism resonated with many individuals during The Enlightenment because it stated that, knowledge is acquired through observation and sensory of an individual the basis on which science and therefore The Enlightenment was built on. Consequently, this theme is often visited throughout Dracula and Frankenstein. For instance, in Dracula, page 204 states You do not let your eyes see, nor your ears hear... . Terrorist Groups have used violence, and terror to seek political change. In the thirteen and fourteenth century, Italy was very volatile. The government went through many changes the use of violence and force was used to terrorize the opponents. In the Age of Revolutions, Muslims began practicing the form of the suicide attacker. The attacks occurred in Malabar, against the Portuguese, Dutch, and British (Lutz J., 2005). The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines terrorism as the use of violence acts to frighten the people in the area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal (Terrorism, 2013). • 13. Variability Within The Dopamine System Heterogeneity within the dopamine system becomes apparent early on in midbrain development. Dopamine neurons are derived from the sonic hedgehog positive floor plate (Abeliovich and Hammond, 2007; Blaess et al., 2011; Hayes et al., 2011; Joksimovic et al., 2009; Kittappa et al., 2007). These immature neurons migrate from the ventricular zone into the mantle guided by a complex network of interacting signalling and spatiotemporal expression of several transcription factors, (Chung et al., 2005; Di Salvio et al., 2010; Simeone, 2005; Smidt and Burbach, 2007; Smits et al., 2013). Some of this variable expression pattern also extends into adulthood: Ardbk2, Gsg2k1, Pbx1/3, Ahd2, and Dssrl1 are expressed in subsets of SNc dopamineneurons and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transcription factor Otx2 is prevalently detected in TH+ neurons located ventral medial VTA neurons, and this distribution is gradually decreased in the central and dorsal lateral VTA. It has also been shown that Otx2 is sporadically co expressed with Girk2, while most if not all of the Otx2+ neurons are Calb+, and those located in the ventral VTA are also Ahd2+ (Di Salvio et al., 2010; Liang et al., 1996; Schein et al., 1998; Simeone et al., 2011). Despite this slight anatomical and molecular topography, the cell bodies are still largely intermingled within the midbrain nuclei (Fig 1). One recent study attempted to deconstruct the molecular diversity of the midbrain dopamine system. They postulated the existence of several molecularly distinct dopamine neuron subtypes and used a microfluidic dynamic array to simultaneously evaluate the expression of 96 genes in single neurons (Poulin et al., 2014). Using this method identified two main clusters of neurons. They also uncovered 10 genes that appeared to be expressed uniformly in all dopamine neurons (PD linked genes: Atp13a2, Lrrk2, Park2, Park7, and Pink1. Transcription factors: Foxa1, En1/2, Lmx1b, Pitx3, and Nr4a2). Although informative, this study does have some limitations. Firstly the method used restricts the identification of novel subgroups to a combination of only 96 different genes taken from previous gene expression studies. This could have ... The ability to communicate anonymously is viewed as part of our basic right to free speech . With the advent of computers and ease of access to the internet, becoming anonymous as never been easier, and is far more reaching than the colonial newspapers of 1787. For some this ease at which we can communicate anonymous is cause for concern. Although we are no longer hiding our identities to promote the ratification of the Constitution, being anonymous still plays a large role in our society. Online anonymity grants anyone with an internet connection an unbiased voice, regardless of gender, race, or wealth. Without this freedom to online anonymity many people would not feel free to express themselves or release sensitive information about themselves or about corruption, in the case of whistleblowing. Anonymity can also be used as a security measure and prevent unauthorized mining of personal information. Although multiple ethical framework will be used and compared, using a consequence based framework will be the main examining point throughout. The use of the term anonymous can be confusing from an online perspective. When speaking of anonymity in such a sense it is not related to the degree of traceability, but to the lack of aspects such as image, voice, and situation in the online social environment . King Jr Metaphors On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr., a civil rights activist, delivered his renowned speech, I Have a Dream on the Lincoln Memorial located in Washington to millions of Americans. King relied on the use of metaphors, imagery, and anaphora to establish pathos; as well as to convey his wish to live in a country where everyone has equal civil and economic rights no matter their skin color. King employs many metaphors throughout his speech to disclose emotions that can only be represented by comparing two things. The most notable example is in the beginning of his speech where he compares the lack of justice to a check with insufficient funds. By doing this, King makes his audience acknowledge that the African Americanpopulation has been deprived of its freedom. This example correlates with the rest of his speech speaking on how African Americans are treated as less than human even after being granted their freedom in 1865. To fully understand why he compares these two things the audience will need to know information regarding the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments and how they were supposed to give African American slaves equal rights. This case study reports a client who underwent elective direct to consumer (DTC) genetic testing in the absence of genetic counseling and discovered she had a BRCA mutation. The DTC she took was a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) microarray analysis advertised online. It was found that she had high levels of anxiety, distress and a lack of knowledge of what the DTC test outlined. The client admitted not being mentally prepared for the information she received. Genetic counseling helped lower her anxiety levels and eventually left her feeling empowered. The outcome of this case study supports that significant distress may be caused by DTC tests. If policies were made stricter, casualties would go down. I do not agree with this because it would only affect the people who go to obtain their guns legally. If you really wanted one all you would have to do is steal it, so the policies would then have no effect on you. 2) Minorities and blacks are made to be scarier than they are because they are always the ones portrayed on TV causing the crimes. I agree with this statement because when I listen to the news 90% of the time when I heard crimes talked about they were committed by blacks or Mexicans. Only rarely do I hear of a crime ... I agree with this because it shows that even though he sees how guns have killed people, he is still pushing for people to purchase them and supporting them fully. 7) Influence for violence is always put on the media and figure heads such as Marilyn Manson but never on the president. I agree with that because if you pay attention to society that s how it is. On the day Columbine occurred the US also dropped the record number of bombs on Kosovo in the war, but when people go to pinpoint the blame to say why Eric and Dylan shot up Columbine nobody ever blamed it on the president. 8) Parents don t realize that it s harder for kids in school today than it was when they attended school back in the day. I agree with this because there is a lot more bullying in today s day in age than there was way back when. Also kids take it more personally which messes with their self esteem quite a bit. 9) The US is so gun happy and has as many murders as it does because the media is continuously pumping fear into us even if it s not true so that they have good stories to tell. I agree with this because it has happened many times before. For example the Y2K bug which was supposed to cause mass chaos with our computer systems never happened and the African

  • 22. The Emergence Of The Taliban Essay The beginnings of the Taliban can be tied back to the Soviet defeat in Afghanistan. The defeat of the Soviet s was due to collaboration among various tribal leaders. The Soviet withdraw and the shift in American foreign policy allowed the emergence of new rivalries and coalitions among different Afghan groups, such as the non Pashtuns and Pashtuns, Sunnis v Shias, Ghilsais v Durranis and also among the Pashtun tribes themselves. The Soviet withdrawal, ultimately, led to a civil war among local warlords and created a vacuum of power for the Talibanto emerge. There are many variables for why the Taliban emerged, such as: rape, lack of government, looting, warlords, the misery of Afghan citizens, which all prompted the Taliban to disarm local populations and impose Sharia law. Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban, looked at the rape and the murder of boys, specifically, as a primary reason to form the Taliban (Akbar, 2015, pp.213 216). Thus it seems that the Taliban emerged as the legitimate representative of Afghanistanin the 1990s. It also important to note that the rise of the Taliban was not random but was also supported by Pakistan in 3 ways: first, through moral support, second, through military support, and third, through it s recognizing the Taliban as the official government in Afghanistan. These weapons share their potential for large scale destruction and the indiscriminate nature of their effects, notably against civilians. WMD s challenges our peace and security here in the United States. There is a strategy for dealing with weapons of mass destructions, and it is the three pillars, which are counter proliferation, nonproliferation, and WMD consequence management. The United States has tried to stop other countries; however, it has gotten to a point that if the United States is attacked with nuclear weapons, then the U.S. will use WMD as a response to the attack. When it comes to weapons of mass destruction in the possession of hostile countries and even terrorists, it is one of the greatest security challenges facing the United States. The first strategy to combat WMD is counter proliferation to combat WMD use, counter proliferations are fully integrated into the basic doctrines, in trainings, and even equipping of all forces, since it is important for the U.S military and appropriate agencies to be prepared to deter and defend against any possible WMD event. With strengthened nonproliferation to combat WMD proliferation, in order to prevent states from acquiring WMD and missiles, we must enhance diplomacy, arms control, multilateral agreements, threat reduction assistance, and export controls. When most of us think of an autobiography we think about the stories of political figures or well known celebrities. We are interested in the events that shaped their lives and can even be inspired by the way they handled themselves or how they achieved their goals. There are many examples of this through music and the hip hop genre is no exception. The article, The Revenge of Autobiographical Rap , points out that there are many albums that do just that. After listening to the albums we discussed earlier I can appreciate the inspirational message each one conveys. My personal favorite of the three artists is Kendrick Lamar. I find him to be a more relatable artist and I enjoy his music. In good kid, m.A.A.d. city, he talks about how his parents were always telling him what to do and who to hang out with. In the end, even after making mistakes, his parents were always there for him and they were proud of the man he has become. My parents are similar to his. They have opinions about everything I do. And, up to now I have not done everything the way they would have liked. I have made my own mistakes. But, my parents have taught me to be a good person and I know that they will always be there for me. Kendrick Lamar s album depicting his life experiences is inspiring to me. I can work hard to make something of myself and I will have people around me that will support me while I am doing just that. • 44. Analysis Of The Crucible And Half Hanged Mary The Crucible and Half Hanged Mary were written and based off of the Salem Witch trials. The Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft and 20 were executed. Eventually, the colony admitted the trials were a mistake and compensated the families of those convicted. This is similar to today in that today, people are being accused of things they haven t done just because they look a certain way or are similar to the people who actually did something bad. Being falsely accused of something can send people into hysterics and send them into a downward spiral. While both Atwood and Miller both seek to reveal the injustices incurred by the victims of the Salem witch trials, Miller focuses on the effects of hysteria and religious zealotry on society, while Atwood aims to commemorate the excruciating experience of a single victim. In Half hanged Mary, the use of first person allows the reader to read the thoughts of the person speaking or thinking and allows the connection between reader and character to grow. While in the crucible, having the reader be told the story from the narrator s perspective allows the reader a window to see into each and every character s thoughts. Miller wanted to show everything going on from the thought of every character to what the character says. Miller writes, (laughing bitterly)... (He turns suddenly toward a sound outside. • 49. The Importance of the Passover Meal in The Gospel of Luke The Gospel of Luke provides a window into the importance of social standards during the time of its writing. One social standard the community emphasized was the importance of the communal celebratory meal. In the Lukan community, these meals were used to display power, provide benefaction, and were also part of worship. Keeping with the emphasis of meals, Luke used the tradition of the Passover Meal to illustrate the Last Supper Narrative and its shift in meaning with regard to the new covenant to the first century Christian community. It should be no surprise that although the Lukan Jesusfollowed traditions of the community, he also instituted changes paving the way for new traditions and rites for first century Christians. Due to the power and importance of communal meals, the Lukan Jesus was able to leverage the meal as a way to establish the sacramental rite of communion in the first century Christian Church. (Maybe say something in thesis about new covenant sacramental, but all being invited, ie. Women s role at the meal) The social setting of the community in the Gospelof Luke appeared to be different from the other synoptic gospels. The book gave details of community building locations and styles. Due to architectural descriptions and other terminology used in the narrative, the context of Luke s writing appears to be more in line with that of a Hellenistic city, than the culture directly ruled by a Roman government. • 50. Delight In Disorder By Ben Herrick Summary The poems Delight in Disorder by Robert Herrick and Still to be Neat by Ben Johnson display similar themes. Both poems are written about natural beauty, Delight in Disorder , focuses more on the careless beauty while Still to be Neat focuses on the simplicity of natural beauty. Although these two poems are extremely similar because of their themes they are also different. Both authors aim to unveil the true meaning of beauty through being natural and having a balance between disorder and order in one s appearance. In Delight in disorder , Herrick describes a womanthat is dressed without extreme care and her detail is more enticing and captivating than a woman who has put all their energy and effort into dressing up. Herrick writes in lines 11 14, A careless shoestring, in whose tie I see a wild civility; Do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in every part (766), in these lines he is describing the elegance of the woman s imperfections. Herrick is emphasizing in his poem that if a woman takes extreme care in her appearance it can make her seem rigid and uptight. Herrick believes that a woman whose appearance is disorganized comes across as easy going, and more approachable. Ben Johnson s, Still to be Neat , the woman is described in line 9 as neatly dressed from her hair to her makeup along with her loosely flowing clothes (767). The Garden Of Forking Paths Rhetorical Analysis Herrick Fang Writ 1 14, SI 2015 The Garden of Motivation In difficult situations, people attempt to rationalize harsh tasks before completing them. In Jorge Luis Borges s fictional short story, The Garden of Forking Paths, a Chinese man named Yu Tsun is forced to spy against the British during World War I for Germany. His mission is to reveal the location of the city Albert, a task he completes by killing Stephen Albert, a man with the same last name. But, Yu Tsun never wants to kill him. At a first glance, it is questionable why Yu Tsun kills Albert if he never wants to kill him. We notice that just like other people, Yu Tsun needs to identify a strong rationalization before allowing himself to kill Albert, a rationalization he discovers when Albert explains the meaning of the Garden of Forking Paths, an interpretation of the universe that every choice creates a web of outcomes that all occur; Stephen Albert will inevitably die in one of the many outcomes, so Yu Tsun feels justified of the assassination. ... Young children are often exposed to vocabulary through conversations, but not in a manner of teaching it explicitly.
