This document outlines the expectations, grading policies, and resources for a World History CP course. It provides details on assignments and assessments, which include tests, projects, writing assignments, and quizzes. Tests and projects make up the majority of a student's grade. The document also lists required materials, classroom rules regarding respect and responsibilities, policies on absences and late work, and information on getting extra help from the teacher. All essential course information is covered concisely.

2. Tests will be announced at least one week in advance. Tests may take a variety of forms, including but not limited to: essays, multiple choice, fill in the blank, and short answer.

3. Projects may be done in groups or individually. They will include a written, and oral/presentation component. Projects will be graded based off a rubric.

4. Writing assignments can range from a paragraph to an essay. Students will be assessed on their ability to express their ideas coherently and effectively, as well as their ability to demonstrate understanding of the topic being discussed. Essays will be graded based on an MCAS writing rubric.

5. Quizzes (teacher reserves the right to give pop quizzes): 20 – 50 points

6. Quizzes will be given as a way to assess student learning. There may be notification for quizzes, but pop quizzes may also be given.

7. Homework/Class work: 5 – 20 points.MATERIALS<br />Students will need a spiral bound notebook, gluestick, highlighter and assorted colored pencils for their Interactive Notebooks (http://msherzlworldhistory.wikispaces.com/Interactive+Notebooks). Students will also be issued a textbook which will be used for both homework and class work.<br />CLASSROOM RULES<br />1. Cooperate with and respect your teacher and classmates. <br />2. Respect the rights and property of others. <br />3. Carry out your basic student responsibilities. <br />4. Follow the rules as outlined in the student handbook. <br />BASIC STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES<br /> 1. Come to class prepared and ready to learn. <br />2. Start your work on time and allow time to finish. <br />3. Ask for help when you need it. <br />4. Do your own work. <br />5. Turn your work in on time. <br />6. Accept responsibility for grades and other consequences.<br />ACADEMIC HONESTY<br />If a student plagiarizes or cheats on an assignment their grade for that assignment will be a zero. Parents will be notified, and any additional consequences as outlined in the student handbook will be followed.<br />ABSENCES AND LATE WORK<br />It is the student’s responsibility to make up ALL missed assignments. When returning from absences it is the student’s responsibility to see the teacher to receive the work that was missed. In the event of an excused absence the student has double the time of the absence to make up the work (ex: student misses two school days, they then have four school days to complete the missed work). In the event of an unexcused absence student will receive a zero for all work missed. If student is present in class and does not have the assignment that is due they will need to fill out a missing assignment slip stating why the assignment is not completed and their plan of action for completing the assignment. Any late homework will receive half credit. Late projects/essays/presentations will be docked 10% of the total points for each day they are late.<br />EXTRA HELP<br />If a student needs extra help I am available everyday before school, and most days after school by appointment. If a student has concerns they should either come before school or set up an appointment to meet sometime to discuss their concerns. It is best for a student to come forward for extra help as soon as they realize extra help is needed.
