Introduction
• Whereby women takes the lead and organise the business.
• Enterprise is managed by one or more women entrepreneurs in proprietary
concerns in which she/they individually/jointly have a share capital of not
less than 51%.
• Women role in term of their share in small business has been increasing .the
fact of the study are :
› Women own 1/3 of small business in USA and CANADA.
› Britain has seen increase in work force three times better than men.
› Women makes 40% of total work force in Asian countries.
› In Japan the % of women entrepreneurs increased from 2.4%in 1980 to
5.2%in 1995.

- One of the Largest Democracy in the world.
- Sex ratio: 1.07 male (s)/female, Women constitute 48.46% of the India’s total
population.
- Life Expectancy at birth: 63.25 years (male) and 64.77 years (female)
- Male & Female Literacy Statistics
- Women and Nutrition: About 35% of adult women in the age group (15-49) suffer
from chronic energy deficiency. About 55% of adult women suffer from iron
deficiency and anaemia.

- Female Foeticide: Although the absolute number of females has grown 21.79
percent in last decade, the male female ratio is still lower than it was 100 years
ago. The sex ratio in the age group (0-6) years continues to widen with a ratio of
940 females to 1000 males.
- Women And Workforce:
• Workforce participation rate of women in rural area is 31% where as it is 55% for men.
• In urban area this rate is 14% for women as compared to 54% for men.
• Women’s share of organized sector and public sector is less than 20%.
• Their share in central government employment is less than 8%.
• Many women are working in domestic sector in India.
• About 10% of the female population over the age of 12 are employed in
domestic service. It is second largest employment of women after
agricultural labour.

5. Implement enterprise development, supply chain and marketing practices that empower
women.
6. Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy.
7. Measure and publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality.

Introduction • Whereby women takes the lead and organise the business. • Enterprise is managed by one or more women entrepreneurs in proprietary concerns in which she/they individually/jointly have a share capital of not less than 51%. • Women role in term of their share in small business has been increasing .the fact of the study are : › Women own 1/3 of small business in USA and CANADA. › Britain has seen increase in work force three times better than men. › Women makes 40% of total work force in Asian countries. › In Japan the % of women entrepreneurs increased from 2.4%in 1980 to 5.2%in 1995.

Indian Democracy & Women Demographics. - One of the Largest Democracy in the world. - Sex ratio: 1.07 male (s)/female, Women constitute 48.46% of the India’s total population. - Life Expectancy at birth: 63.25 years (male) and 64.77 years (female) - Male & Female Literacy Statistics - Women and Nutrition: About 35% of adult women in the age group (15-49) suffer from chronic energy deficiency. Indian Democracy & Women Demographics. - Female Foeticide: Although the absolute number of females has grown 21.79 percent in last decade, the male female ratio is still lower than it was 100 years ago. The sex ratio in the age group (0-6) years continues to widen with a ratio of 940 females to 1000 males. - Women And Workforce: • Workforce participation rate of women in rural area is 31% where as it is 55% for men. • In urban area this rate is 14% for women as compared to 54% for men. • Women’s share of organized sector and public sector is less than 20%. • Their share in central government employment is less than 8%. • Many women are working in domestic sector in India. • About 10% of the female population over the age of 12 are employed in domestic service. It is second largest employment of women after agricultural labour.

  • 8. Women Entrepreneurs and Status in India. 1. Greater sensitivity in relationships (being more understanding, compassionate, sympathetic and empathetic); 2. Ability to „network‟ better amongst their colleagues; 3. Ability to better understand and perceive situations; 4. Stronger sense of dedication, commitment and loyalty 5. Ability to perform multiple tasks; 6. Better management of crisis situations; 7. Greater readiness to share information and power (which highlights their interactive leadership style); 8. Ability to behave in a more gender-neutral manner; and 9. Ability to solicit input from others which leads to an atmosphere of greater degree of trust, self-worth and respect for ideas (Gupta et al., 1998; Kulkarni, 2002; Mehra, 2002) Key Strengths Identified In Women As Managers Or Entrepreneurs Include Factors Affecting Women Entrepreneurs Performance • Access to Finance • Access to Markets • Access to training • Access to network • Access to policy makers
