Woman Entrepreneurs in India –
Scope of Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs
Now days, women are becoming socially and economically empowered
through generating their own business. A woman entrepreneur plays an
important role in India to the wake of globalization and economic
liberalization. Women entrepreneurship is very important concepts for
development of the country.
Woman Entrepreneurs in India – Scope of Opportunities for Women
Entrepreneurs in Urban Areas
Women entrepreneurship is very important concepts for development of
rural areas. Rural Entrepreneurship can create new economic
opportunities for rural women and contribute to overall growth and
leaving from poverty. There is a substantial contribution of women rural
entrepreneurs in the growth of developed rural areas but the development
of women entrepreneurship in rural areas is very low because the rural
women’s are face more challenges and problems.
There are around seven lakh villages in India and also that more than 70%
of our population live in villages of half are women. Rural women
represent a sizeable percentage of labor force in our country yet; they have
not been brought under the main stream of development. The rural women
may be mobilized and may lead to the nation towards the path of progress
and prosperity. The rural women by all means can be very effective agents
of change for better homes, better society and ultimately for robust
economy in the present global scenario.
Rurla women constitute a major segment of the Indian population and due
to their pivotal role in the nation building is significant. Due to lack of
education they are less likely to get employment. Further low family
income also requires them to go for self-employment i.e, entrepreneurship.
Government has given more importance for agro-based products and
allied products.
The following are the opportunities for women in rural areas.
1. Natural flair and instinct for food preparing and processing.
2. Processing of fruits and vegetables in the form of baby foods.
3. Ice Cream.
4. Convenience food.
5. Cold drinks.
6. Traditional medicine preparations etc.
7. Papads.
8. Pickles.
9. Readymade garments.
10. Food Industry.
Vijaya Deshmukh got married, her husband barely earned Rs. 200 a month and managing
household expenses became a monthly struggle. When her neighbours praised her black
masala and suggested she start taking orders – Vijaya fortuitously learned about the Mann
Deshi Foundation’s masala-making workshops. Knowing that Indian households cherish
fresh masalas – Vijaya decided to start selling her own range of masalas and chutneys.
Vijaya needed a simple and effective way to start building and reaching out to her
customer base, that’s when she turned to WhatsApp. Two years since integrating
WhatsApp into her business, she says “50 percent of my customers contact me through
WhatsApp.” Now Vijaya is earning 10,000 per month and has even trained 800 ladies in
the art of masala making – all from the comfort of her home.
