African American males, in comparison to Hispanic and White males. It is believed that social
interaction, area of residency, and social networks have major influence on the increasing crime and
incarceration rates of African Americanmales. A larger portion of White males hold more
positions within the U.S. Judicial system than African American males who make up a larger
population of prison inmates and less involvement in legislation. This coincides with data
suggesting that African American s have lower percentages of receiving or obtaining higher
education, placing them in areas of low income and less opportunities. Social inequality in the
judicial system is questioned as well as demographics and economics will be researched in order

While sorting through samples I came across 6 hominin skulls that lack analysis. In this project, I

Overview On March 13, 1964 thirty eight neighbors failed to intervene when a 28 year old woman
named Katherine Kitty Genovese was being murdered behind the building. (Manning, Levine,
Collins, 2007). This incident proposed the experiment of the Bystander Effect by Bibb LatanГ©
and John Darley, among other scientists, to find out why thirty eight people had not done anything
to help during this situation (LatanГ© Darley, 1969).
According to LatanГ© and Darley (1969), The Bystander Effect has three main explanations
behind it, which includes diffusion of responsibility, evaluation apprehension, and pluralistic
ignorance (Darley LatanГ©, 1968). Diffusion of responsibility withdraws a person from
exhibiting a helping behavior when there are other bystanders present because it is expected that
others can contribute to the helping behavior, and that the outcome is not just on one person s
shoulders (LatanГ© et al., 2002). On the other hand, when a person imagines that there are no
other people present, or that the people present are not able to engage in a helping behavior, a
person will act as if he or she was alone and will be more likely to intervene in the situation (Darley,
Teger, Lewis, 1973).

others are already taking responsibility, or are about to take responsibility for it; if those people in

In this lab, I worked with three other partners: Alexis Koch, Scott Webb, and Nicholas Coffey. In
the first portion of the lab, our goal was to discover the relationship between pressure and volume.
We began the experiment by plugging in the Vernier computer interface and the Vernier Gas
Pressure Sensor to the computer and started the Logger Pro software. We prepared the 20 milliliter
gassyringe to be placed into the Vernier Gas PressureSensor by putting approximately 12
milliliters of air into it. We did this to easily maneuver the syringe to different amounts of
volume. We began to collect data from the Logger Pro at various amounts of volume from 1 to
20 milliliters. We recorded 239.59, 227.50, 122.50, 100.50, 83.05, and 63.03 kPa at 0, 5, 10, 12, 15,
