Fabrication, And Testing Of Composites Essay
The purpose of this lab is was to expose students to the manufacturing, fabrication, and testing of
composites. In addition, it provides students with experience analyzing tensile and bending failures of
composites. Three tensile specimens and two bend test specimens were tested during this lab. The
tensile specimens were a wet lay up of bi directional E glass, and the bend specimens were made up of
a nomex honeycomb core with pre preg uni carbon faces. The three tensile specimens were tested,
their elastic modulus and ultimate tensile strength calculated, and these value were compared to
published approximately equivalent material properties. The two bend test specimens were tested,
their face bending stresses were calculated, the shear stress in the core was calculated, and the bending
and shear stresses were compared to published approximately equivalent material properties. A failure
mode analysis was conducted for both the tensile and bend test specimens. This report summarizes the
theory, procedure, and machines associated with the lab. Furthermore, it graphically and verbally
displays the results draw from lab, and provides conclusions to improve the lab in the future.
Background
A composite material is a combinant of more than one material where each material retains its own
material properties. Composite materials are used throughout modern society and in nature because
they provide material properties that individual materials could not provide on their own.

Graduation Speech
When my family arrived in the United States as immigrants in December of 2000, we were foreigners
in a strange place. We did not know any English so my siblings and I were placed in a school that had
an English as a Second Language program specifically designed for immigrant students. I remember
being pulled out of my normal classroom regularly to work with teachers and other students on
activities that were designed to teach me English. The memory that stands out to me the most when
thinking of those classes are the teachers who patiently worked with me sounding out words in books
or writing sentences. The teachers made me excited about learning even when I was pulled out of my
regular class at times when we were watching a movie or playing games. One day we were reading
out loud in class and I nervously raised my hand to volunteer to read. I began reading the sentence in
my small timid voice and as I continued reading I heard the voice of a girl who was comfortable and
assured in the words she was speaking. There were no unsure pauses or nervous stutters in my reading
and I remember feeling a sense of triumph that I could read so clearly. The separate time I received
with these teachers played a large role in my success as a student. I was able to form a comfortable
relationship that allowed me to be more engaged in the class and willing to learn without fear.
Although I was disadvantaged because of

The Age Of Franco Research Paper
The Age of Francisco
Francisco Franco was a ruthless dictator of Spain from 1939 to 1975. He started as a talented military
general, who rose up to power and lead the Nationalist rebels to victory in the Spanish Civil War.
During his time as dictator, he ruled with confidence and control, and sided with the Axis Powers
during World War Two, but then quickly gained a good reputation with the United Nations after the
war was over. As one of the many dictators of the World War Two era, Franco is an important figure in
history.
Biography
Francisco Franco was born in El Ferrol, Spain on December 4,1892 into a military family. Following
in his father s footsteps, Franco joined the military and graduated from Toledo Military Academy. In
1913, he got his first assignment and was posted to Morocco. There, Franco proved to be a courageous

Franco s main goal was to restore Spain to its former glory. Just five months after the Spanish civil
war ended, World War Two started. Spain remained neutral in the war because of their intense debt,
however they sided with the Axis Powers. Francisco Franco did meet with Adolf Hitler in the middle
of the war saying Spain would join the war on the side of the Axis powers if Germany agreed to some
of Franco s terms. Hitler denied this request and Spain stayed out of the war. Franco tried to become
completely neutral in the war in 1943 but it was too late, Spain was invested too deeply with the Axis
Powers and gained enemies. The west already viewed Franco as a fascist and did not support him.
Franco tried to change this by changing the name of The State Party to the State Movement to appear
as though he was not fascist. With this change and his anti communist views, Spain gained political
popularity with the United States and was asked to join the United Nations in

The Battle Of The Second Triumvirate
The Battle of Philippi was the last fought battle of the wars of the second Triumvirate. These wars
were a fight between the forces of Marc Antony and Octavian of the Second Triumvirate, and the
forces of Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus. Brutus and Cassius were the
assassinators of Julius Caesar, Marc Antony and Octavian were very close allies with Julius Caesar
and Octavian would become the heir to his throne after the assassination. Because of this, Marc
Antony and Octavian would wage a war against Brutus and Cassius to avenge their ally Julius Caesar.
Immediately following the assassination of Caesar, Brutus and Cassius fled to Italy to take control of
the Eastern provinces. The three main Caesarian leaders, Antony, ... Show more content on

With the arrival of Republican admiral Gnaeus Domitus Ahenobarbus, communications back to Italy
were made very difficult because of the large fleet of ships that he brought with him which blockaded
the triumvirate. These fleets of the Liberators did not wish to engage in a physical battle with the
Triumvirate, but only to block their communications with their supply base back in Italy. With this
swarming fleet they were able to outflank the Triumvirate and set up their own defensive positions
forcing Norbanus and Saxa to retreat from their positions moving west giving the Liberators the upper
hand at this spot. Brutus and Cassius were able to gain position on the Via Egnatia on each side with
this fleet. To the north and south were impassable marshes and mountains. Brutus and Cassius then
split their forces each manning a North and South defensive position of the Via Egnatia. After arriving
to the scene, Marc Antony put his troops to the south while Octavian put his troops to the north,
preparing for battle with the Liberators. Marcus Junius Brutus was always known in history as being
too soft of a general. Although he had little successful battle victories in Thrace and Lycia, he had
always been judged as being lacking in authority when it came to the generalship of his troops.
Because of this, Brutus was commonly referred to as a statesman than a military commander. The
other Liberator commander, Gaius

Immigration Of The United States
Through all of the events in history that happened to the United States, the issue lurking around for
over 250 years and counting, which began ages ago, is immigration. In the U.S daily, there are
approximately 70,000 foreigners that travel here from various countries from different parts of the
world. Within the 70,000 travelers, over 60,000 of them are tourists, businessmen, and students. In the
United States currently, with every 2,000 legal immigrants, there are 5,000 illegal immigrants. Since
the 1990 s, illegal immigrants have been tremendously outnumbering legal immigrants by millions.

In 1891, the Federal Government took control of admitting, inspecting, rejecting, and processing all
immigrants that enter into the United States. On January 2, 1892, a U.S immigration station opened its
doors on Ellis Island in New York Harbor. In 1903, revisions and correction were made to the 1891
Act regarding immigration. The US immigration Act of 1907 reorganized the states that bordered
Mexico, which at the time were Arizona, New Mexico and a chunk of Texas. Between 1917 and 1924
there were a series of laws that were ratified to limit the number of new aliens. These laws established
the Quota System and forced passport requirements. They also expanded the categories of excludable
aliens and banned all Asians except the Japanese. A 1924 Act was created to reduce the number of US
immigration visas and allocated them on the foundation of national origin. In 1940, The Alien
Registration Act required all non U.S. citizens within the United States to register with the
Government and receive an Alien Registration Receipt Card, which was later called a Green Card. The
Passage of the Internal Security Act of 1950 depicted the Alien Registration Receipt Card. Legal
immigrants had their cards replaced with what commonly became known as the green card . The 1952
Act is what started the modern day US immigration system. It created a quota system that inflicts

The Epistolary Form Of Writing
The epistle in its most basic form is simply a letter, with the epistolary form in the Eighteenth Century
being a published letter often from one writer to another. This mode of writing was extremely popular
in the Eighteenth Century, taking on different contexts for different purposes. An epistle can be a
complex genre of writing. The Epistle can be a collection of poems, a satirical essay, a response to an
author s works or a raging sparring of words. Although quite constraining in format, an epistle
addressed to someone, be it explicit or not can capture the minds of many.
The epistle is notably an ancient form of writing, originating in Egypt as early as 1292 BC. However,
the scholars of Ancient Greece and Rome made the formulae of ... Show more content on

Horace s work does indeed showcase his view of literary culture of that time, highlighting the change
that is occurring and setting rules and boundaries of writing poetry.
From Ancient Greece to Eighteenth Century England the epistle s importance still remains. With the
Ancients vs Moderns argument being in full effect, this added leverage to the use of the epistle in
satire, reproducing the epistolary form as Greats before them had also used. The difference between
Modern thinkers were in stark contrast to the Neo Classical thinkers of the time. The Neo Classical
Aesthetic embodied a group of attitudes towards art and human existence. That of order, logic,
restraint, accuracy, decorum and correctness was favoured over the Renaissance thinkers that believed
imagination, invention, experimentation and mysticism was more important to feature in Literature.
The Augustan Age in which Pope, being a central poetic figure at that time had the most famous and
well recognised modern epistles written both by him and also aimed at him.
Criticism was increasingly popular in the 18th Century, with enjoyment coming from both the original
text and the opinions and responses to the text by others. Of course, Pope perceived some criticism as
incorrect and a personal attack on his own being rather than input on his actual body of work. These
attacks, however, motivate Alexander Pope further, giving him more material

The Significance Of A Historical Society
The Montclair Historical Society or the Montclair Historical Center as it will be called in 2017, is a
nonprofit organization promotes preservation, study and appreciation of local history. It was originally
founded in 1965 to save the Israel Crane House, a Federal Revival style landmark home built by a
local entrepreneur in 1796. It was relocated from Glen Ridge Avenue to its current location on Orange
Road. Located next to the Israel Crane house s new location is the Nathaniel Crane House. Built about
1818, it was donated to MHS in 1973 and together, the two Crane Houses served the public as a
historic house museum, museum shop and space for demonstrations, lectures and classes interpreting
our area s past. As I learned from my classes, the mission statement of an institution works as a
guidance to lead the institution to attain the communities needs and to bridge the gaps between the
societies and the museums. It is noted that the mission statement of the Montclair Historical Society is
a very inspiring, effective, compelling, and measurable. Additionally, the vision is inclusive with their
mission statement to identify the future goal of the MHS. The mission of the Montclair Historical
Society is to PRESERVE, EDUCATE, and SHARE. We PRESERVE our local history through our

Blood Vengeance In Beowulf
Vengeance in Beowulf
While both blood feuds and wergild deal with murder, a blood feud requires a death for a death, while
wergild uses gold to make amends. When looking at this in a biblical perspective, it is important to
understand how these relate to justice. Biblical justice is a far cry from revenge. Vengeance, however,
takes the shape of both blood feuds and wergild, and while blood feuds are fueled by revenge, wergild
is important to bring justice in Beowulf s society. Vengeance in Beowulf takes two main forms: the
blood feuds, such as that of Grendel s mother, and the concept of wergild; only wergild, however,
conforms to the biblical definition of justice. Blood feuds play an important role in Beowulf, if only to
contrast with the idea of wergild. A blood feud took place when someone killed someone else, and the
victim s family had the right and responsibility to kill the murderer. However, this is not justice; it is
revenge, often causing a deep and uncontrollable split in a society. In Beowulf, this is only referred to
once, when Grendel is killed, and Grendel s mother comes, desperate for revenge, intent on avenging
Grendel s death ( Beowulf, 69). While Grendel s mother could be seen as restoring justice, this blood
feud only brought more death and revenge. There were few rules or regulations, and revenge was
often personal. Indeed, the old testament blood feuds were more closely aligned with wergild, in that
weregild was not wild justice or a step outside

Keeping Baseball a Constant Essay
Keeping Baseball a Constant
Movies are an integral part of American life. They make us laugh and in a blink of an eye make us cry.
But above all, movies tell a story, a story about not merely the characters in the flick, but about each
and every one of us in the audience. No matter what the plot, purpose or theme of the movie, there isn
t a single person who can honestly say that they can t relate to at least one element of the movie in the
one hundred and twenty some odd minutes of intense sound and color. Baseball is America s pastime,
America s national game. Thus a movie about baseball captivates the essential American spirit in its
purest form. Personally I feel that Field of Dreams, starring Kevin Costner as Ray Kinsella ... Show

But this was not enough to insure financial stability as the league expanded too readily and rapidly to
thirty teams. Currently baseball is struggling, especially in the cities home to small market teams.
Thus why Commissioner Bud Selig and the owners recently approved a motion to implement
contraction, or the elimination of franchises from the league, most likely of the Montreal Expos and
the Minnesota Twins. According to Selig, the teams facing contraction were chosen based on three
principle characteristics: a small fan base, a small total revenue generated over the past couple of
seasons and the smallest significance to the game. In this case, the writer who chooses to employ
exigence is ESPN: the Magazine columnist Jim Caple. Formerly a sports columnist for the Saint Paul
Pioneer Press from 1989 to 2000 and a diehard Twins fan, Caple wrote his article entitled Bud s Twin
Killing in the November 26th issue of ESPN: the Magazine. Using the three main artistic appeals as
defined by Sophocles, Caple sets out to expose why Commissioner Selig wants to dissolve the Twins,
how his reasoning is inappropriately influenced and, above all, why the Twins should remain in
Minnesota.
Ethos is usually the first artistic appeal found in any piece of writing. Caple s article is no exception to
this age old rule. Ethos, or credibility and goodwill, is demonstrated by Caple in paragraph two

Socialization Of Masculinity
Masculinity is seen as a cultural constructions throughout history, by which males are assigned certain
social roles of their gender. Traditionally, the image of men is quite clear. Men have to be hard
working person, strong father, and disciplined. Historically, the role of man was to provide his wife

Men are associated in an essential and optional way with the confidence certain aspects are completed
when deciding their masculinity and manliness. These aspects range from not crying when they are

Mikhail Gorbachev Essay
Mikhail Gorbachev
For my biography project, I chose to research Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev. A man of many
accomplishments, and bold decisions that shaped a country unlike ever before. A man who lived by
the words If not me, who? And if not now, when? Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev
Early Life: Mikhail Gorbachev was born on March 2nd, 1931 in Privolnoye, Russia. He was born into
a peasant Russian Ukrainian family, his father worked as a combine driver on government owned
farms, likewise his mother showed tireless work ethic with her lifelong toil on a collective farm.

Just a year later, Gorbachev had become the youngest member of the Politburo. The Politburo is the
executive committee for a number of communist political parties. The first ever Politburo was created
by the Bolshevik party in 1917. Gorbachev worked closely under General Secretary Yuri Andropov
watching how he succeeded in the Politburo. When Andropov died, Gorbachev was quick to replace
him for the position that he so closely eyed. Unfortunately Mikhail lost to Konstantin Chernenko,
nevertheless Mikhail wouldn t give up for what he worked so hard for. 13 months later Chernenko
died, opening the doors for Gorbachev to become the General Secretary of the Politburo at the very
young age of 54. He was the only general secretary in the history of the Soviet Union to have been
born during Communist era.
Milestones: Gorbachev had many awards and accolades during his lifetime, but none were as great as
becoming the General Secretary of the Politburo in 1985. Mikhail wouldn t stop at just that, he felt
that the country could be better, be greater than what it was at the current moment in time. Gorbachev
realized that the Soviet Union s economy and country morale was seriously suffering from the
excessive spending on nuclear weapons during the Cold War. During his time as General Secretary he
had a strained relationship with American president Ronald Reagan.

sophisticated queries to be performed though, IT clearly plays an important role in accounting
functions. The impact of IT in firms is broad and manifested in the most varied ways in the integrated
systems, which includes ERP systems, internet, intranet, and so on, walk hand in hand with the firm

However, the constant growing and changing field of IT has had an important impact on all levels of
the firm s organization. In this context, the term information management has emerged as the most
common name. As rue result, management information systems were developed to support the new
role of accountant. This new role forced accountants to become the interpreter of information and to

No Match For The Power Of Lobbying
Seattleites would soon find that public opinion was no match for the power of lobbying: So, an unholy
alliance downtown business groups, large companies like Boeing (whose interest in Seattle
transportation begins and ends with getting commuters through it quickly), the antediluvian WSDOT,
craven Seattle City Council members, craven state legislators like Ed Murray (who sponsored the
tunnel bill and is now mayor), and head cheerleader Gregoire bullied the tunnel back onto the agenda,
and Seattle voters, sick to f ing death of arguing about it, finally voted in 2011 to allow it to go
forward (Roberts 1). It had been somewhat of a political miracle that it had ever passed in the first
place. The so called Seattle process, in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Six years after several groups called for the shutdown of the Viaduct over the fact that it may collapse
imminently, its replacement was finally approved; the Viaduct, however, was still standing.
The construction of the tunnel started with both banging and whimpering. At the christening ceremony
of Bertha, the name of the machine designed to bore through the Seattle underground, WSDOT
communications head KaDeena Yerkan pleasantly told reporters We know exactly the path of Bertha
and what she ll encounter along the way, (Esser 1). At that time in July of 2013, the tunnel project was
expected to be completed within fourteen months. Immediately after Bertha began chugging its way
through the Seattle dirt, it ran into twin issues. First, a mechanical issue, namely a clog in the
conveyor screw; that was quickly fixed. However, a struggle for jobs between the longshoremen
unions and the building trade unions led to the longshoremen picketing the tunnel project and halting
work until late September. Washington Governor Jay Inslee, by this point the third governor since the
2001 earthquake that cracked the Viaduct, remarked, I have been increasingly frustrated by this
situation, and I know that Washingtonians feel this same frustration to the nth degree, he said Tuesday.

Needless to say that to do business in the current globalized economy, business partners need to
communicate effectively in a given language. But communication requires much more than a solid
knowledge of a language. Becoming communicatively competent in a foreign or second language
implies more than being able to speak fluently and accurately. Being communicatively competent in a
language requires having not only good linguistic knowledge but also knowledge of the culture that is
beneath that language, the culture that this particular language reflects. When doing business in a
global context, the ability to communicate cross culturally is a must for the success of any enterprise.
Electronic Communications Ltd. (ECL) had decided to start business in China and to form a
relationship of common prosperity with Chinese people. The company knew that there was major
progress to be made, but there were also risks and challenges. One of these was the management of
cultural differences. An issue the management was whether it should adapt ECL s management
practice to the Chinese culture or to establish ECL s global management policies in China. Successful
cultural alignment is an important element for multinational organizations. Electronic
Communications Ltd (ECL), like many other companies entering foreign markets, is faced with how
to adequately incorporate their corporate culture with the Chinese national culture ECL, as a leading

Positive Effects of the Olympic Games
Business opportunities for companies
Businesses in New South Wales won A$1bn worth of contracts from the Sydney games and an
additional A$300mn was generated by local business. Over 55,000 people received employment

Impacts in these dimensions are two other ways of looking at the effects of the Olympic Games, but
note that earnings impacts already are included in the output impacts (although not separately stated)
and should not be added in again. Similarly, employment impacts are simply another measure of
economic impact and obviously should not be added either to the output or to the earnings impact.
The first column of Table 4 reports the total earnings impacts, including induced effects, for each
category of direct and indirect spending. Spending by ACOG (direct) will generate $1.1 billion in
earnings. Visitors spending (indirect) will generate $814 million in earnings. Combining the direct and
indirect impacts shows that the 1996 Olympics will generate $1.9 billion in earnings for the statewide
economy Table 5 provides a detailed allocation of the earnings impacts produced by all direct and
indirect spending sources. Earnings impacts are attributed to impacted industries rather than to
expenditure sources.
Employment impacts accruing to the state total over 77 thousand full and part time jobs. The total
employment impacts reported in Table 4 include induced employment impacts. Direct spending by
ACOG generates 36,000 jobs (47 percent of the total). Indirect spending by out of state visitors

Case Study Of Roug Rough Cut Capacity Planning
1. INTRODUCTION
Consumer demand for a product can be fulfilled entirely in the master production schedule if
supported by production capacity according to production requirements. Master production schedule
can be easily realized if consumer demand is constant, but in fact companies often experience
fluctuations in the demand of consumers who tend to be unstable. Based on research Liske F. (2012)
that capacity planning is done well can meet the demand of existing customers as well as be able to
increase the company s revenue. Based on research Ria Amalia (2012) that consumer demand can be
met by adding machines at work center that is experiencing a shortage of capacity.

Essay On Goddess Of Passion ( Xana And Durihan )
Edana, Goddess of Passion (Xana and Durihan)
Have you heard of the Goddess Edana? Sven asked over the fire. The stars were already out, the night
sky a blanket for the Kingdom of Felhine. And beneath the stars, sitting in the midst of a forest was a
man and woman around a fire. The man a strong and proud warrior of the north, broad shoulders
accompanied by defined and battle tested muscle. He looked very much the part of a barbarian, and
the way he fought only confirmed that. But who Sven really was was a mercenary, and adventurer, a
sell sword. Traveling the kingdom to experience life at it s fullest. And the woman across from him?

Of course it wasn t the only place for such devotions to be enacted.
The very temple Sven spoke of, in the Capitol of Felhine was alive that very night. To call it a brothel
would be an insult, seeing how brothels were kept to the outer reaches of the city. The temple of
Edana was one of many temples, built and placed within the inner sphere of the city. Yes, for some
gold one could sleep with the gorgeous priestess s that called the temple home. But what temple didn t
accept payment for service? The Sect of Dorfane took gold for prophetic guidance on people s futures,
and the Sect of Bro Kul took gold for administering the rites of the dead. Just because the Sect of
Edana performed acts of flesh didn t make their worship, their deeds any less divine. Regardless
people came from all corners of the kingdom just for one night with the Divine prostitutes of Edana.
And Gareth was no different.
Where Gareth came from, what Gareth did for a living, what family he claimed no one knew. Nor
would they ask, he was a man that only appeared at night in the Capitol. An air of uneasiness seemed
to befall any that crossed his path. And yet those that Gareth took interest in, those he pursued seemed
to be transfixed by him, fascinated. But what else would they feel? Gareth was a vampire after all, no

Ursula Burns Research Paper
I admire Ursula Burns as a phenomenal woman and business leader. Ursula is undoubtedly a superior
leader. Ursula M. Burns (born September 20, 1958) is an American business leader who has been
chairwoman of Xerox since 2010, and was Xerox CEO from 2009 2016. Burns was the first African
American woman CEO to head a fortune 500 company. She is also the first woman to succeed another
woman as head of a fortune 500 company. In 2014, Forbes rated her the 22nd most powerful woman

Relations Between Public Relations Professionals And Media...
Introduction
The perceived cantankerous relationship that characterises the exchanges between public relations
professionals and media practitioners has been rife since the birth of public relations. The pair are, in
its simplest term frenemies , they do work together, albeit covertly, and are usually hesitant to admit
(on the media side) their cooperation. However, there is no absolute trust held between the two for
there is a shifting power of control and influence that continually changes, which Fletcher (as cited in
Hobsbawn, 2010, p. 64) believes is due to the market value of the particular product that public
relations is representing. Media practitioners are often called the watchdogs of society, their history of
holding the rulers of society accountable and maintaining democracy is a view that is still maintained
today. They are, however, in the eyes of public relations practitioners the gate keeper , whereby they
decide what is accessible to the public, conversely this power has somewhat diminished due to the rise
of the internet. Comparatively, public relations practitioners are viewed by the media as spin doctors
who threaten legitimate news content and act as ...the servants of vested interests who deny the people
their right to know... (Greenslade, 2005, as cited in White Hobsbawm, 2007, p.284). In discussing the
symbiotic relationship that is held between the two with the essay being written from the perspective
of a public relations student, it is

Circulating Tumor Cells ( Ctcs )
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs)
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs), represent tumor cells that contain a heterogeneous populace of cells,
including apoptotic tumor and viable tumor cells that have shed into the vasculature or lymphatics
from a primary or metastatic tumor and are carried around the body in the circulation by undergoing
phenotypic changes that are accompanied by a process called as epithelial mesenchymal transition
(EMT) 64 68. Evidence now suggests that the tumors has ability to make their own blood vessels

However, it is not necessarily always associated with metastasis, as only 0.01% of CTCs takes part in
metastasis92, 94, 95. Moreover, highly sensitive, single cell investigation showed marked
heterogeneity of individual CTCs for protein expression and localization, and the CTCs reflected the
character of both the primary biopsy and the transformations seen in the metastatic sites96, 97, which
corresponds with the evidence of seed and soil hypothesis98 100.
Amassing proof has demonstrated that CTCs can be utilized as a biomarker to non invasively
supervise cancer progression and provide direction to monitor the treatment101 103. The American
Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) approved CTCs as a tumor marker for breast cancer in
2007104, 105.
Nevertheless, CTCs detection, identification, enumeration and molecular characterization are very
challenging, since CTCs are uncommon in peripheral blood of patients (that is, 1 100 CTCs among
billions of normal cells) with a half life between 1 to 2.4 hours and due to its fragile nature it tends to
degrade when collected in standard blood collecting tubes106 109, 110, 111.
CTCs being heterogeneous population of cells, CTCs can be positively or negatively enriched on the
basis of: 1. Physical characteristics (that is, cell diameter 15 μm, nuclear cytoplasmic ratio 0.8, electric
charges, deformability, the hyperchromatic nuclei, sunken

The Longitudinal Layer
The longitudinal layer is 2.5 mm thick and the thickness decreases with age. Cranially the layer is
predominantly muscular while fibro elastic caudally. The fibro elastic tissue of the longitudinal layer
is continuous with the fibro elastic network outside the sphincter to the perianal skin to form the
corrugator cutis ani, thereby forming an intra sphincteric fibro elastic network passing through the
external sphincter(Stoker, 2009).
External anal sphincter The external sphincter is a cylindrical striated muscle under voluntary control
and comprises predominantly slow twitch muscle fibres, capable of prolonged contraction. With age
there is a shift towards more type II (rapid) fibres (Cni, 1993). The external sphincter has a nerve
supply by the inferior rectal branch of the pudendal nerve (S2, S3) and the perineal branch of the
fourth sacral nerve (S4). Primary function is closure of the anal canal to postpone evacuation,
regulation is partly reflex (e.g., sudden increase in abdominal pressure) and partly voluntary through
the visceral and somatic afferent and somatic efferent nerves. The external sphincter also contributes
to some extent to the anal resting tone. The external sphincter constitutes the inferior outer aspect of
the anal sphincter and envelops the inter sphincteric space . The external sphincter is approximately
2.7 cm high, but is anteriorly shorter in women (approximately 1.5 cm) (Rociu et al., 2000). The
lateral part of the external sphincter is

Neutral Tones By Thomas Hardy Essay
How does Hardy use poetic techniques to detail changes in his relationship with his wife over time in
Neutral Tones ?
Thomas Hardy uses the variety of techniques in writing the poem, telling about how desperate his love
life being when a woman whom he loves, died. As the first stanza starts, Hardy straight away set his
time and location in the poetry into past memories. We stood by a pond that winter day Basically
everything is started with cold winter where the writer and his wife were still in touch romanticly.
Moving on to the second line, the writer put a colour of white in line of And the sun was white, as
though chidden of God However, Hardy attempt to stay in his own theme, which then he had decided
to implement his technique by making the white colour as a referenced to the sun . There are some
simile techniques in word gray from They had fallen from an ash, and were gray In my opinion, Hardy
is trying to convince the reader about his despair as his love life gone miserable, the transition of

into many metaphors meaning. Such as the deadest thing from the line The smile on your mouth was
the deadest thing meaning that he has realised how unforgettable her smile was. Furthermore, he also
compares the deadest with the ominous bird from line Like an ominous bird a wing . However the use
of symbolism ominous bird a wing could have been put in as a kind of anticipation to the final stanza,

Golden Gate Bridge Monuments
Have you ever been to Mt. Rushmore? Or the Gateway Arch? What about the Golden Gate Bridge?
There s one thing these all have in common: they re all monuments that had a lot of planning go into
them. Monuments are built in order for people to remember and honor the past. Whether it be people
or events, there are many factors a group must consider when creating a monument. Monuments are a
physical form of a history book; they help re create and remember past events and people. When
memorializing an event of person, a group of people should consider cost, design, and text factors
when creating a monument.
The cost to build a monument is a huge factor in creating a memorial. The group would have to create
a monument that fits their budget, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Words can be tricky when they are being placed on a monument. One has to make sure the quotes are
correct. One has to make sure the quotes are perceived how they should be. One has to make sure
names and other words are correctly spelled. Is the monument even going to have any words on it? All
of these contribute to what one must consider when adding words to a monument. Any sort of word
would bring back memories of the event. As stated by Lin, words can be used to capture a specific
moment in time or a single event or a generalized image to resurrect memories of those lost in a tragic
event. This is the goal of any monument at it s purest; to remember an event as it happened. Words can
also depict important saying of the past, as it does the Gettysburg Address on the Lincoln Memorial
(Savage). This is cause for importance because it prevents those words from being lost or twisted in
the pages of history books. Words are of vast importance when building a monument, as they protect
the quotes and people of the past from being nothing.
Cost, design, and words are only a few factors that should be considered when building a monument.
As proved by prior facts, these by far are the most important as they dictate what people see and read.
Without monuments, the public would have difficulties remembering and honoring past events and
people. Not only that, but it ensures people remember and

Taking a Look at the Giraffe Award
Caring. Risking. Healing. What do all of these of these have in common? These are all criteria of the
Giraffe Award. The Giraffe Award is given to people who have shown a lot of caring, people who
placed themselves at risk, people whose actions were healing, not divisive, and people who went
above and beyond the call of duty. Six cases have been evaluated. A decision was made and now only
two people will receive the Giraffe Award.
Jerry Foster is a TV helicopter pilot. He gets paid to find news stories, but what he actually does
makes him worthy of the Giraffe Award. Jerry loves to save lives. Saving lives is clearly an act of
caring. He is paid to find stories but he goes above and beyond by saving lives. Sometimes when he is
saving people he forgets to capture the story on film, which puts him at financial risk, because he
could get fired. When he saves people he heals them. Jerry Foster meets all the criteria of the Giraffe
Award which is why he deserves the award.
Dedication and perseverance. Joseph Nicholas and David Francis Sr. have worked very hard to
reinvigorate their language, Maine s Passamaquoddy Indian Tribe language. However they are an
example of two people who are not worthy of the Giraffe Award. The reasons are obvious. They didn t
act out of caring. They just want people to learn their language. That is a selfish reason. Also they didn
t have any risk. They were at no social, physical, or financial risk. Some people might argue that they
went above

  • 4. Graduation Speech When my family arrived in the United States as immigrants in December of 2000, we were foreigners in a strange place. We did not know any English so my siblings and I were placed in a school that had an English as a Second Language program specifically designed for immigrant students. I remember being pulled out of my normal classroom regularly to work with teachers and other students on activities that were designed to teach me English. The memory that stands out to me the most when thinking of those classes are the teachers who patiently worked with me sounding out words in books or writing sentences. The teachers made me excited about learning even when I was pulled out of my regular class at times when we were watching a movie or playing games. One day we were reading out loud in class and I nervously raised my hand to volunteer to read. I began reading the sentence in my small timid voice and as I continued reading I heard the voice of a girl who was comfortable and assured in the words she was speaking. There were no unsure pauses or nervous stutters in my reading and I remember feeling a sense of triumph that I could read so clearly. The separate time I received with these teachers played a large role in my success as a student. I was able to form a comfortable relationship that allowed me to be more engaged in the class and willing to learn without fear. Although I was disadvantaged because of ... Franco s main goal was to restore Spain to its former glory. Just five months after the Spanish civil war ended, World War Two started. Spain remained neutral in the war because of their intense debt, however they sided with the Axis Powers. Francisco Franco did meet with Adolf Hitler in the middle of the war saying Spain would join the war on the side of the Axis powers if Germany agreed to some of Franco s terms. Hitler denied this request and Spain stayed out of the war. Franco tried to become completely neutral in the war in 1943 but it was too late, Spain was invested too deeply with the Axis Powers and gained enemies. The west already viewed Franco as a fascist and did not support him. Franco tried to change this by changing the name of The State Party to the State Movement to appear as though he was not fascist. With this change and his anti communist views, Spain gained political popularity with the United States and was asked to join the United Nations in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brutus and Cassius were the assassinators of Julius Caesar, Marc Antony and Octavian were very close allies with Julius Caesar and Octavian would become the heir to his throne after the assassination. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the arrival of Republican admiral Gnaeus Domitus Ahenobarbus, communications back to Italy were made very difficult because of the large fleet of ships that he brought with him which blockaded the triumvirate. These fleets of the Liberators did not wish to engage in a physical battle with the Triumvirate, but only to block their communications with their supply base back in Italy. With this swarming fleet they were able to outflank the Triumvirate and set up their own defensive positions forcing Norbanus and Saxa to retreat from their positions moving west giving the Liberators the upper hand at this spot. Brutus and Cassius were able to gain position on the Via Egnatia on each side with this fleet. To the north and south were impassable marshes and mountains. Brutus and Cassius then split their forces each manning a North and South defensive position of the Via Egnatia. After arriving to the scene, Marc Antony put his troops to the south while Octavian put his troops to the north, preparing for battle with the Liberators. Marcus Junius Brutus was always known in history as being too soft of a general. Although he had little successful battle victories in Thrace and Lycia, he had always been judged as being lacking in authority when it came to the generalship of his troops. Because of this, Brutus was commonly referred to as a statesman than a military commander. The other Liberator commander, Gaius ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1891, the Federal Government took control of admitting, inspecting, rejecting, and processing all immigrants that enter into the United States. On January 2, 1892, a U.S immigration station opened its doors on Ellis Island in New York Harbor. In 1903, revisions and correction were made to the 1891 Act regarding immigration. The US immigration Act of 1907 reorganized the states that bordered Mexico, which at the time were Arizona, New Mexico and a chunk of Texas. Between 1917 and 1924 there were a series of laws that were ratified to limit the number of new aliens. These laws established the Quota System and forced passport requirements. They also expanded the categories of excludable aliens and banned all Asians except the Japanese. A 1924 Act was created to reduce the number of US immigration visas and allocated them on the foundation of national origin. In 1940, The Alien Registration Act required all non U.S. citizens within the United States to register with the Government and receive an Alien Registration Receipt Card, which was later called a Green Card. The Passage of the Internal Security Act of 1950 depicted the Alien Registration Receipt Card. Legal immigrants had their cards replaced with what commonly became known as the green card . The difference between Modern thinkers were in stark contrast to the Neo Classical thinkers of the time. The Neo Classical Aesthetic embodied a group of attitudes towards art and human existence. That of order, logic, restraint, accuracy, decorum and correctness was favoured over the Renaissance thinkers that believed imagination, invention, experimentation and mysticism was more important to feature in Literature. The Augustan Age in which Pope, being a central poetic figure at that time had the most famous and well recognised modern epistles written both by him and also aimed at him. Criticism was increasingly popular in the 18th Century, with enjoyment coming from both the original text and the opinions and responses to the text by others. Of course, Pope perceived some criticism as incorrect and a personal attack on his own being rather than input on his actual body of work. • 14. Blood Vengeance In Beowulf Vengeance in Beowulf While both blood feuds and wergild deal with murder, a blood feud requires a death for a death, while wergild uses gold to make amends. When looking at this in a biblical perspective, it is important to understand how these relate to justice. Biblical justice is a far cry from revenge. Vengeance, however, takes the shape of both blood feuds and wergild, and while blood feuds are fueled by revenge, wergild is important to bring justice in Beowulf s society. Vengeance in Beowulf takes two main forms: the blood feuds, such as that of Grendel s mother, and the concept of wergild; only wergild, however, conforms to the biblical definition of justice. Blood feuds play an important role in Beowulf, if only to contrast with the idea of wergild. A blood feud took place when someone killed someone else, and the victim s family had the right and responsibility to kill the murderer. However, this is not justice; it is revenge, often causing a deep and uncontrollable split in a society. In Beowulf, this is only referred to once, when Grendel is killed, and Grendel s mother comes, desperate for revenge, intent on avenging Grendel s death ( Beowulf, 69). While Grendel s mother could be seen as restoring justice, this blood feud only brought more death and revenge. There were few rules or regulations, and revenge was often personal. Indeed, the old testament blood feuds were more closely aligned with wergild, in that weregild was not wild justice or a step outside ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Selig, the teams facing contraction were chosen based on three principle characteristics: a small fan base, a small total revenue generated over the past couple of seasons and the smallest significance to the game. Introduction The perceived cantankerous relationship that characterises the exchanges between public relations professionals and media practitioners has been rife since the birth of public relations. The pair are, in its simplest term frenemies , they do work together, albeit covertly, and are usually hesitant to admit (on the media side) their cooperation. However, there is no absolute trust held between the two for there is a shifting power of control and influence that continually changes, which Fletcher (as cited in Hobsbawn, 2010, p. 64) believes is due to the market value of the particular product that public relations is representing. Media practitioners are often called the watchdogs of society, their history of holding the rulers of society accountable and maintaining democracy is a view that is still maintained today. They are, however, in the eyes of public relations practitioners the gate keeper , whereby they decide what is accessible to the public, conversely this power has somewhat diminished due to the rise of the internet. • 30. The Longitudinal Layer The longitudinal layer is 2.5 mm thick and the thickness decreases with age. Cranially the layer is predominantly muscular while fibro elastic caudally. The fibro elastic tissue of the longitudinal layer is continuous with the fibro elastic network outside the sphincter to the perianal skin to form the corrugator cutis ani, thereby forming an intra sphincteric fibro elastic network passing through the external sphincter(Stoker, 2009). External anal sphincter The external sphincter is a cylindrical striated muscle under voluntary control and comprises predominantly slow twitch muscle fibres, capable of prolonged contraction. With age there is a shift towards more type II (rapid) fibres (Cni, 1993). The external sphincter has a nerve supply by the inferior rectal branch of the pudendal nerve (S2, S3) and the perineal branch of the fourth sacral nerve (S4). Primary function is closure of the anal canal to postpone evacuation, regulation is partly reflex (e.g., sudden increase in abdominal pressure) and partly voluntary through the visceral and somatic afferent and somatic efferent nerves. The external sphincter also contributes to some extent to the anal resting tone. The external sphincter constitutes the inferior outer aspect of the anal sphincter and envelops the inter sphincteric space . The external sphincter is approximately 2.7 cm high, but is anteriorly shorter in women (approximately 1.5 cm) (Rociu et al., 2000). The lateral part of the external sphincter is ... As the first stanza starts, Hardy straight away set his time and location in the poetry into past memories. Your eyes on me were as eyes that rove over tedious riddles of years ago The description of the woman s eyes and their face to face conversations giving suggestions that their love had become more boring and meaningless to her. As in the second stanza, Hardy put lots of simile, evidently, it turns out into many metaphors meaning. Such as the deadest thing from the line The smile on your mouth was the deadest thing meaning that he has realised how unforgettable her smile was. Furthermore, he also compares the deadest with the ominous bird from line Like an ominous bird a wing . However the use of symbolism ominous bird a wing could have been put in as a kind of anticipation to the final stanza, the ominous bird representing his know broken trust, the word ominous may suggest a doubt about ... One has to make sure the quotes are correct. One has to make sure the quotes are perceived how they should be. One has to make sure names and other words are correctly spelled. Is the monument even going to have any words on it? All of these contribute to what one must consider when adding words to a monument. Any sort of word would bring back memories of the event. As stated by Lin, words can be used to capture a specific moment in time or a single event or a generalized image to resurrect memories of those lost in a tragic event. This is the goal of any monument at it s purest; to remember an event as it happened. Words can also depict important saying of the past, as it does the Gettysburg Address on the Lincoln Memorial (Savage). This is cause for importance because it prevents those words from being lost or twisted in the pages of history books. Words are of vast importance when building a monument, as they protect the quotes and people of the past from being nothing. Cost, design, and words are only a few factors that should be considered when building a monument. • 34. Taking a Look at the Giraffe Award Caring. Risking. Healing. What do all of these of these have in common? These are all criteria of the Giraffe Award. The Giraffe Award is given to people who have shown a lot of caring, people who placed themselves at risk, people whose actions were healing, not divisive, and people who went above and beyond the call of duty. Six cases have been evaluated. A decision was made and now only two people will receive the Giraffe Award. Jerry Foster is a TV helicopter pilot. He gets paid to find news stories, but what he actually does makes him worthy of the Giraffe Award. Jerry loves to save lives. Saving lives is clearly an act of caring. He is paid to find stories but he goes above and beyond by saving lives. Sometimes when he is saving people he forgets to capture the story on film, which puts him at financial risk, because he could get fired. When he saves people he heals them. Jerry Foster meets all the criteria of the Giraffe Award which is why he deserves the award. Dedication and perseverance. Joseph Nicholas and David Francis Sr. have worked very hard to reinvigorate their language, Maine s Passamaquoddy Indian Tribe language. However they are an example of two people who are not worthy of the Giraffe Award. The reasons are obvious. They didn t act out of caring. They just want people to learn their language. That is a selfish reason. Also they didn t have any risk. They were at no social, physical, or financial risk. Some people might argue that they went above ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
