Aboriginal People s Life
Life was phenomenal for the Aboriginal people, they were living a great, cheerful, and peaceful
life until one explorer arrived, they saw a massive ship that sailed on to their land. A man named
Christopher Columbus came. After that day, all the Aboriginal people s life became abominable.
The Europeans brought with themselves a new lifestyle, tradition, language, culture, and beliefs. It
changed the Aboriginal people s life massively. This essay will describe what happened when the
Canadian government forced the aboriginal people to go to Residential Schools and what hardship
the aboriginal people faced during the northern gateway pipeline dilemma. The Residential Schools

Feminist Critique Of The Awakening
FThe Awakening: A Feminist Critique
The Awakening by Kate Chopin depicts the awakening of a lady named Edna
Pontellier. Set in New Orleans (Chopin 1), this novel follows Edna as she skirmishes with the life
she is living and the life she wants to live. Moreover, one could view Edna as a model of feminism
in her time. Chopin conveyed many feminist ideas throughout her writings in a time where it was
uncommon; Chopin wrote The Awakening in a time when married women held no legal rights
over their bodies and when few other female and feminist writers hazarded openly to explore a
woman s sexual desire (Beer, et al 88). Chopin expresses feminist ideas through the actions of Edna
Pontellier, supporting characters, and how Edna s husband both treats his wife and his stereotypical
view of women.
Throughout the novel, Edna becomes dissatisfied with her life, and decides that something needs
to change. Right from the beginning of the novel, Edna immediately defies her husband when she
feels she is being treated incorrectly. She said nothing, and refused to answer her husband when
he questioned her (Chopin 6). These subtle defiances monsoons into greater ones, transforming
Edna into a radical feminist. As Enda starts to realize what she desires, she figures out that love
and sex do not necessarily coincide in the same object of desire (Beer, et al 90). Edna decides to
leave her husband, saying that I am no longer one of
Mr. Pontellier s possessions to dispose of or not. I give myself where I choose (Chopin 108).
Spicher 2
Edna leaving her husband shows her independence from her husband and that she decides not to
live with these traditional stereotypes any longer.. Edna also undergoes a sexual realization.
Edna grapples with the conflict between her romantic and sexual impulses, both urging her
towards adultery (Beer, et al 91). Between her love for Robert (Chopin 91) and her affair with
AlcГ©e (Chopin 92), her departure from her husband allows her to sexually explore, thus making
her more independent. All of the events described depict Edna s feminist attitudes towards her life.
Even though Edna is a prime example of a feminist figure, she isn t the sole feminist character in the
novel. Another illustration

Creating A User Interface Application
Step 1:
CREATING THE USER INTERFACE
To create a user interface in the text editor application,Editor.java file helps to accomplish this
task by creating a menu bar and a text area. There are many features which are provided to the
end user like creating a new file, saving a file, edit, format and lock the file. This interface creates
the text area where contents of existing file or new file gets displayed.
In Editor.java file, editor class is acting as the basic class in the text editor application. It loads the
components like menu bar and text area in the main window and is also responsible in initialising
the interfaces.
In Editor.java file, the main() method creates an object of the Editor class. This class creates the
main window in the text editor application.
The menu options in the Text Editor application are:
File Menu: Contains the following menu items:
oNew: Invokes a newFile() method to create a new text file. o Open: Invokes an openFile()
method to open a text file which exists in the system. o Save: Invokes a saveFile() method to
save a text file in to the system. o Save As: Invokes a saveAsFile() method to save a newly
created text file. o Print: Invokes the printFile() method to print a particular document, based on the
values in the print dialog box o Exit: Calls an exitFile() method to close the Text Editor application.
Edit Menu: Contains the following menu items: o Undo: Invokes an undo() method to undo the last
operation performed on the file.

here are a number of different techniques for electrolysis. The primary reason most people seek
electrolysis treatments is to end their battle against unwanted facial and body hair once and for all.
Electrolysis is an excellent means of permanently removing unwanted hair. Prior to having an

Mlb Salary Cap Is Needed
Anyone who has been involved in an organized sport, whether it is backyard football or a high
school sports team, knows that these sports all have organizations that are responsible for setting
rules, determining conditions of play, and penalizing individuals who infringe the rules. Some of
the organizations like the National Football league and the MLB are familiar to most people, the
rules they follow are not generally understood by anyone who is not closely associated with the
sport. Most fans and sport critics assume that what is happening inside these organizations are of
little concern to them. However, this is not the case. In the MLB, the New York Yankees spend an
excessive amount of money every year to obtain big name players. A... Show more content on

He states, This is not about stupidity, it is about what is fair in baseball, and what is not. It is
about the overall appeal of the national pastime. It is about caring, interest, and most of all,
competition. Right now, there is very little of any of these components outside of the 212 area
code. Most importantly, he explains why baseball needs a salary cap by saying it is the only way
to put constraints on what the Yankees are doing and to return the sport to the interesting and
suspenseful form of sporting entertainment it once used to be. The Yankees are at an unfair
advantage all across the league, and nobody, not Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Cleveland, or perhaps
even Los Angeles, can acquire talent the way they can. The only way to prevent them from doing
so is to put a cap on how much they can pay their entire team.
The Major League Baseball Association (MLBA) decided to issue a luxury tax in February of

predetermined guideline level set by the league. The apparent purpose of this tax is to prevent
teams in major markets with high incomes from signing almost all of the more talented players and

The Holocaust was a genocide that took place in Germany in 1933 through 1945. In 1933 Adolf
Hitler had become ruler of Germany and gave himself the title FГјher . Being the leader of the

Comparison of Aristotle and Thomas Hobbes Essay
The foremost difference between Aristotle and Hobbes, and in turn classical and modern political
philosophies , with regard to a good life and happiness is that of normative judgments about the
good life. While Hobbes rejects normative judgments about the good life and discusses human
actions without attributions of moral quality, Aristotle offers the exact opposite. In Ethics, Aristotle
differentiates between good and evil actions along with what the best good, or summum bonum,
for all humans while Hobbes approach argues that good and bad varies from one individual to
another with good being the object of an individuals appetite or desire, and evil being an object of
his hate and aversion. In addition, Aristotle makes it clear that... Show more content on

Accordingly, whatever the excellent person finds pleasurable, should be considered the standard
for judging individuals moral quality, as stated in the following passage: In fact, however, the
pleasures differ quite a lot, in human beings at any rate. For some things delight some people,
and cause pain to others; and while some find them painful and hateful, others find them
pleasant and lovable...But in all such cases it seems that what is really so is what appears so to
the excellent person. If this is right, as it seems to be, and virtue, i.e., the good person insofar as
he is good, is the measure of each thing, then what appear pleasures to him will also really be
pleasures...and if what he finds objectionable appears pleasant to someone, that is not at all
surprising: for human beings suffer many sorts of corruption and damage. It is not pleasant,
however, except to those people in these conditions. The previous passage shows then that the
appetites or desires of corrupted people should not be taken into account while discussing the moral
quality of an individuals actions. Aristotle s definition of mean, which is having certain feelings at
the right times, about the right things, towards the right people, for the right end, and in the right
way , clearly states that there is only one right answer to any moral dilemma faced by an

Aristocratic families enjoyed considerable wealth, especially in the Attica area, where Athenians

This starts through determining how life altering events have affected our current leisure
behaviour. The benefits we hope to gain from our leisure and our work become evident when we
think about how we would fill the time if they were suddenly taken away. Family traditions are a
good example of a way to find the routes of our feelings toward leisure (Hopp). Thinking about
why we do not pursue leisure activities we have always wanted to reveals the personal attitudes,
relationships and external factors that shape our leisure choices.
Understanding leisure in your community starts by uncovering all leisure opportunities in a
particular area. Looking closely at these leisure opportunities reveals an endless list of possible
leisure spending whether directly from a leisure provider or indirectly facilitated (Hopp). Thinking
about how having a disability, limited financial resources or being in a new place with a different
language and climate would limit leisure opportunities shows the importance of providing leisure
opportunities for people with such limitations.

American Children Difficulties
American Children Difficulties
I believe there are many difficulties that American children face in society today. First of all, I
used to think American children have it easy; because it s the land of the free. Free alright, free
to do and express anyway you feel is the problem. It seems like freedom of expression is only valid
to those who challenge how the American way used to be. The difficulties I see is, you can be
whoever you choose to be by either gender, religion, or expression, but on the other hand if you
are a person who is against someone else s belief you are considered a racist, bigot, harsh, or an
insensitive person who has to respect for those who choose to be different or what older

I think they are losing social skills behind this technology. The connection with parents, siblings,
and even classmates. Yeah it s a very easy and simpler way to get a hold of someone or make an
emergency call if you are stranded or even in danger, but the extras that go along with it which
is: social medical, games, and video chatting, that can cause car accidents, bulling in school, or
again losing social skills. I say all this to bring back the sole purpose and use of the invention
was to connect outside of your home. Thirdly, I feel American children are not in tune with what
this country fought for or been through to be called, Land of the Free. Today in age our
President seems to be more concerned about social media and what people are saying about
them rather than lead and unite us. Our President goes on rants no matter who it hurts or
offends, which is creating enemies. Our children look up to our leaders and believe they can do
exactly what they are doing expressing their Amendment, Freedom of Speech. I call that
disrespect. Children think they can disrespect their teachers, parents, any authority figures, until
it gets out of hand. That s why I believe there are so many protest today. Lastly, I know American
children do not face the difficulties that other children face in other countries, because their
dictatorship is different; either the country is poverty stricken or their religion won t allow them
to express or speak their mind. Writing this paper really made me understand why I am the way
I am with my children. My kids are still in elementary school however, their friends have cell

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Pneumatics
Introduction
The technology of Pneumatics deals with the application and uses of a compressible gas such as air
or a suitable pure gas but hydraulics uses an incompressible liquid such as oil. The application
started to grow due to a gradual shift towards automated machines and equipment. The introduction
of pneumatics in manufacturing has introduced the cheaper mode of production in wide areas of
application such as Packaging machinery, Bottle filling Industry, artificial heart, logic control
systems and robotic materials handling devices etc. Due to several advantages, pneumatics is
preferred over hydraulics. The coming future technology in this field is further improving the
hydraulics in terms of cost and energy efficiency.

The first compressors were seen around 3000 B.C. to provide small blows of air to aid in starting
fire. In around 1500 B.C, these simple devices were evolved into larger units and used in metal
smelting. Around the 18th century, mechanical compressors were used to do useful work, any
many experiments were done to test the power and applicability of pneumatic systems. Pneumatics
was used to power a tunneling project in Mt. Cenis, located in the Alps. If traditional drilling
methods were used (manual) the project would have taken around 30 long years. By using
pneumatic drills, the tunnel was completed in just 14 years and was open to traffic in 1871. This
project caught the attention of many government agencies and they began to talk of compressor
stations for city wide power consumption. (6)
Paris was actually the first city to try pneumatics in 1888 when a 65 horsepower (HP) rated
compressor fed 4 miles of main wire with 30 miles of branch circuits delivering 90 psi. By 1891
the capacity of the motor was increased to 25,000 HP. Electricity would become the most
convenient on large scale energy transmission while pneumatics were used in more industrial
applications including power, process, and control

Bloodstream Infection Paper
Reducing Hospital Acquired Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Bloodstream Infections
Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) can be used for routine patient care for treatment
and have been increasingly used over the past years. They are more invasive than a peripheral
intravenous line (PIV); however, they can be inserted at the bedside, are easily removed, and
provide many positive benefits. PICCs relieve patients from frequent venipuncture for serial lab
draws, decreases frequent re starts of PIVs, and the patient can be discharged home, if needed, for
continued IV therapy. Although there are benefits to these easily inserted central lines, central line
associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) are a possibility (Dumont Nessselrodt, 2012).
Problem PICCs are frequently used on medical floors and intensive care units (ICUs) for further
management of patient care. These central lines, however, put patients at a high risk for CLABSI

Annotated Bibliography On Mobile Development Essay
Overview of Mobile Development in Africa 1. What are some of the advantages of mobile devices
that help residents of sub Saharan Africa to better receive information and facilitate
communication? There are several advantages of mobile devices that help residents of sub Saharan
Africa to better receive information and facilitate communication. With the low cost, rapid adoption
of mobile phones, search costs to visit markets to compare prices and products have decreased
dramatically. Residents can call markets or friends to obtain information about said prices and
products immediately, instead of waiting for information via radio broadcast or conducting a person
visit which can be both time and cost intensive. In this way, they are also becoming active (instead
of passive) participants in knowledge accumulation and transfer, as they can retrieve and
communicate information from and to various sources. Additionally, this increased communication
can improve business efficiency, especially in terms of smaller firms. Often situated in rural areas,
these smaller firms in sub Saharan Africa have limited supply options. With improved, efficient
communication, they can better manage their supply chains, engage in new activities, and even
streamline production processes. This is pertinent in terms of enriched productivity, stimulating
both firm and economic growth in the long run. By extension of this productivity facet, and the
growth of mobile devices, there is a higher demand

The Evolution Of Flightless Birds
Evolution occurs when an animal species develops new bodily structures and functions in order to
adapt to their new environment. These developments are seen as positive adaptations that enhances
survival. However, some animal species have lost these new developments. Based on the
geographic location and climate, some evolutionary developments that are no longer needed are
lost due to the fact that the new bodily structure itself does not enhance the chance of survival in a
particular environment (Kirchman 2009; Vieites, et al. 2009). In most cases these lost
developments are passed down through future generations and are never redeveloped. However,
more information is needed to decide whether or not the loss of these evolutionary developments
was due to natural selection or by random mutation over years (Wilkens and Strecker 2003). In this
paper, I will examine three studies from a diversity of taxa, which illustrate the history of flightless
birds, how climate has influenced the evolutionof salamanders and how life lived in darkness has
influenced the blindness in cave fish. Together these studies depict how these evolutionary abilities
are lost and their affects on the animal species.
Krichman (2009) examined the ancestry of flightless birds (Gallirallus philippenesis) through the
usage of genetic testing that were sampled throughout a range of ancestral species. This was to test
a model of speciation where flightless birds were thought to have evolved from flying birds

The Fear Of Zombies By Franklin D. Roosevelt
Kinemortophobia: The Fear of Zombies Franklin D. Roosevelt said one of the most
recognizable quotes in history during his first Inaugural Address: The Only Thing We Have to
Fear is Fear Itself! (Roosevelt) Fear is one of the most uncomfortable emotions that humans can
experience and it occurs all throughout a person s lifetime. Terror can also be a very powerful
tool to influence society and their decision making. Fear can drive a population to purchase a
product that they deem a necessity or advocate war. The existing fear of death and destruction in
Max Brook s World War Z led to influence survival choices of characters in order to prevent the
spread of the infection. Similar circumstances can be observed during World War I and II
through the use of propaganda encouraging US citizens to take part in the war effort. When
comparing the two scenarios, one is able to understand that both World War Z and the World
Wars were able to use the existing fear to influence society and society s decisions. Fear is an
existing emotion that begins in childhood and progresses into adulthood. Children ages zero to
two fear separation of parents, loud noises, and strangers while three to six year olds fear
imaginary beings such as ghost and monsters (Smith). It is understandable that fear progresses in
one s lifetime, morphing from childish fears into more real like scenarios. Propaganda, especially
during wartime, appealed more to the fears of adults, as artists were targeting that

Steve Rogers Character Analysis
The first thing it is important to know about Steve Rogers is that he has been chronically ill since
he was a child. There are conflicting reports about what illnesses he suffered from, but there is some
consensus even still: he had both scarlet and rheumatic fever, chronic or frequent colds, sinusitis,
heart palpitations, and, the most important to this app, asthma. Now, the asthma alone would have
been enough to make his life difficult treatment wasn t very advanced in the days of Steve s
childhood, and it would have made it hard for him to do much but compounding that, society s
reaction to asthma was largely unfavorable. It was thought at the time that asthma was a result of a
mental weakness, rather than anything medically wrong,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Steve feels an obligation to his country, to his fellow man, that his body initially doesn t allow
him to fulfill, but that doesn t stop him from trying. One might imagine that this is due to his
mother and father s influence in his life both of them set aside their lives in the hopes of making
life better for others. His mother was a nurse in a TB ward, and his father died of mustard gas in
World War I. Due to these two influences, as well as his own intrinsic sense of moral obligation,
Steve feels compelled to fight in World War II, despite the fact that he is, by all measures,
completely unsuited for it. As the doctor at the beginning of Captain America: The First Avenger
states, Steve would be ineligible for service based on his asthma alone but that doesn t stop him
from trying to enlist five times. While there is an element of having something to prove to the
world Steve s illness throughout his life and society s reaction to it has left him with a chip on his
shoulder a mile wide he also just plain wants to help, because he sees it as his moral obligation to.
Now, Bucky says that there are important jobs on the home front, and Steve could do any one of
them, but Steve denies this, saying There are men laying down their lives. I ve got no right to
do any less than them. Nearly 70 years later, Steve is called back into service just over two
weeks after having been pulled out of the ice, and he goes without a complaint, even though he s
still adjusting to the reality of his new world. Steve s own mental well being is less important
than his obligation to the rest of the world. Two years after that, when Steve is forced to fight his
best friend, he begins by asking Bucky not to make him do it and then fights him anyway, because
Bucky is standing between him and his avenue to save the world, and Steve s duty to the world is
more important than his own

Granito
by Pamela Yartes
In 1982, filmmaker Pamela Yates traveled to Guatemala to make a film about the nation s ongoing
civil war, with General Efrain Rios Montt s military dictatorship on one side and a rebel army of
farmers, intellectuals and indigenous Mayans on the other. Yartes stated that she has wanted to see
these people pay for their crimes. This documentary link Guatemala s blustery past and present. At
the time Yates completed her film When The Mountains Tremble, the world was just becoming
aware that Montt and his troops were engaging in genocide, determined to wipe out the Maya
people one and for all. However, she narrates the films about the search for evidence of Guatemala

Moreover, Yartes made a strong connection with forensic scientists, lawyers, and the press. Yartes
also explained that Granito is mostly about the importance of human rights and not just as she is
a filmmaker but it is going into all of the outtakes from 1982 to find evidence for the cases in
Guatemala. There was this guy named Freddy Peccerelli who ve been finding and looking for
scientific, forensic evidence, and also this lady named Kate Doyle, which she went through secret
military and police documents to find evidence, including evidence against Otto PГ©rez Molina
another man linked to the Plan SofГa which in seen in Granito. Furthermore, the importance of this
film was to document every step throughout the ongoing genocide in Guatemala and how
important this documentary could be to trial General Efrain Rios Montt. However, Freddy
Peccerelli stated what has happened in Guatemala is pretty much blanket impunity after the
signing of the peace accords and people are afraid to talk because of the lack of justice. To support
this view, Freddy and his recruiter dug

Ecclesiastes Chapter 3
In Ecclesiastes 1:4 6 I do not think it has a message pertaining weather. This passage means to me
that people are born, and people pass away; the sun will shine the next morning and set in the
evening, and this pattern will continue. Just like in Ecclesiastes chapter three; there is a season
and a time for everything. Ecclesiastes 1:4 generations come, and generations go. there is a season
where people are born and when they die. The seasons change as the sun rises and sets.

waiting on God to bless them. Today may not be the season for their expected blessing. God s
children can rest assured knowing that God always keeps his promises. Another

Syntax And Syntax
The task of providing a simple description of a programming language is very difficult but it is
essential to the language s success.
ALGOL 60 and 68 was initially represented using compact formal descriptions; in both scenarios,
however, the description was not clear because they utilized a completely new notation. Hence, both
these languages were not accepted by the developer community. Similarly, few languages have
faced some issues due to different dialects, a result of simple but informal and imprecise description.
The study of programming languages is similar to natural languages. It can be classified into

Semantics is referred to the meaning of words and sentences.
Mostly semantics studies the understanding of each word and creates the sentences in the form of

Neanderthal Parallax, Hominids, by Robert J. Sawyer
The human race has achieved many impossible feats. We have landed on the moon, illuminated
the world with the electric light, and cured illnesses that used kill thousands. In a world where
we look to technology to answer all of life s problems, we are faced with a dilemma. How can our
technology possibly keep up with our modern needs? In the first book of the Neanderthal Parallax,
Hominids, by Robert J. Sawyer, we are transported into a parallel universe. In this unpolluted world
that is populated by Neanderthals, there is a sophisticated computing system, we know as a
quantum computer. As of 2014, quantum computers are still in their infancy, and have been
prophesied since the early 1990s. However, work on building a quantum computer, and creating
algorithms compatible with one, began around the turn of the century. As one of only seven sci fi
writers in the world, and the only Canadian, who has won all three of the top international awards
for science fiction, he is known for the amount of research and probable vision intertwined into the
technology in his books.
A quantum computer is a sophisticated computer device that can actually calculate the use of
quantum mechanical phenomena, to perform operations on data. Basically, it s one of the few
devices that can calculate the quantum theory. Quantum theory is also classified as quantum
mechanics, which is a branch of physics that deals with physical phenomena inside of particles at
nanoscopic scales (Wilczek). It

It s Come A Long Way From The First Draft
This is the final draft of the essay. It s come a long way from the first draft. The details are
present and the thread is more clear. At least to me, the writer, it is. I m proud of the elements I
ve chosen and of the way I ve chosen to connect them. The use of freedom as a thread was
difficult, yet the perfect challenge I needed. I love my thread, yet I m not super confident in my
imagery within the piece. I tried to incorporate more sensual imagery, but only accomplished
visual imagery, a little bit of touch and smell. I m proud of this piece merely because I managed
to connect two things I absolutely love (nature and equine) with an issue we still face in this
world, acceptance of others, ourselves and racism. Racism was displayed in the freedom taking
of another man. Never did I think I would be able to connect these 4 completely different ideas in
such a simple, yet complex way and absolutely love it. I ve never been more excited about of a
piece of writing and allowing people to read it than I am with this piece. There are so many
things I m proud of with this writing, but there are a few things I feel I m weak in. I m not quite
sure everyone will agree with my thread being present throughout my entire essay, although I
think it is, but maybe that s because I wrote. I m not quite sure if the repetition of the words free
and freedom were effective or really necessary. And the imagery as I already said. I m lacking the
sense of taste as how do I represent taste with

Internet Is More Important Part For Communication

Internet is getting more important part for communication. Internet is very powerful platform that

But at the same time, computer hacking is increasing very rapidly.
Hackers are people, who try to get unauthorized access to the system. We can protect our systems

Another example, Internet online banking, social networking or other services, you may be in the
risk of hacker from personal information and confidential information. Hacker may access your
information through unsecured connections or by virus software and then use your personal details
for their benefit. This may lead a very serious trouble.
For this problem the only solution is to detect the hacker and prevent hacker from the sites or just
block the IP address of the hacker. To gather as much as information as possible and detect the
attacker. This we can do with the Honeypot tool.
The goal of Honeypot is silently collect the information as much as possible about their attack

A Honeypot is used in computer and Internet security. It is a resource, which is intended to be

Fuku generally a curse or a doom of some kind; specifically the Curse and the Doom of the New

is written by Junot Diaz (Diaz 1). If you make a bad choice, you will receive fuku, says Junot Diaz

Then Abelard makes a bad choice again. He once has a chance to send his daughters to Cube to

shut, his pockets open, his daughters hidden for another decade or two. By then ... Trujillo
would be dead and the Dominican Republic would be a true democracy (Diaz 227). Apparently,
it turns out that his hope is just a hope in terms of his ending. Nevertheless, there is third
opportunity offered that is he leaves everything and runs away with his mistress. Once again, he
makes a bad choice that he chooses to stay in Dominican Republic. Therefore, all he can do left
is waiting for fuku. Abelard ends up being imprisoned and dying. Because of that, his family

The third daughter Beli is sold to a strange family as a slave. We can easily see the reason that

Compare And Contrast The Ottomans And Ottoman Empire
During the 14th to 16th century, two main empires ruled Spain, the Ottoman and Habsburg
empires. Both empires remained standing for hundreds of years before they fell. The Ottoman
Empire was an Islamic empire with their population mainly consisting of Muslims. Founded in
1299, they lasted for more than 600 years with more than 30 sultans before they fell. The Habsburg
Empire was a Roman Catholic centric empire founded around the 15th century and lasted for more
than 400 years. Both the Ottomans and Habsburg allowed minority groups to live in their empire
under their government, but had many restrictions that minimized the minority group s freedom.
The minority groups were a big factor in how Habsburg Spain and the Ottomans would maintain
their empire. Although each Empire employed religion as a way to maintain their empire, the
Ottomans were more successful in maintaining their empire as they used religion to create an army
and gain money from the minorities.
In the Islamic ruled empire, the Ottomans relied heavily on religion when it came to maintaining
their empire as they used them to build an army using minorities and gain money for their empire
them as well. In the Ottoman Empire, Christians and Jews were considered dhimmis, as dhimmis
they had their rights protected by Ottoman law and were allowed to continue their own religious
organizations, not be forced to follow Islamic law, and have freedom of choice; this system was

house rules or guidelines to communicate to both management and employees how to conduct
themselves for the goodwill of the company and its people. Every person at an organization
brings a diverse set of individual needs and motivations apart from the company s primary
agenda. Despite their commitment to perform their specific work responsibilities while in the
workplace, each person obligates himself or herself to non work urgencies that can produce
interruptions within the boundaries of their required duty to an organization (Casper DePaulo,
2012). Such non work urgencies may involve a spouse or a child for a partnered employee;
therefore, many organizations establish family friendly policies in consideration of a partnered
employee s life outside of the workplace or the exceeding obligations of a person with parental
responsibilities (Casper DePaulo, 2012, p. 232). Family friendly policies could include a flexible
work schedule with the option to telecommute some days, or extra time off to care for an ill partner

Medea and Jason and the Golden Fleece Essays
Medea and Jason and the Golden Fleece
Medea and Jason and the Golden Fleece are two well known Greek stories. In both these stories
the Olympian gods in the stories play important roles that affect the lives of both Jason and Medea.
The behaviors of these two character also have a great contrast between them. In the story of Jason
and the Golden Fleece , Jason is the son of Aeson who is the legitimate king of Iolcus, in Thessaly.
Aeson s half brother Pelias steals the throne away from Aeson making himself the new king of
Iolcus. Jason is the rightful heir to the thrown but his father feared for his life and sent him to live
with the centaur Cheiron. In time Jason wanted to know of his parents and wanted to reclaim the

For Medea must fall in love with Jason and then she will use her great skill with magic to help
Jason acquire the fleece. Because of Hera s hatred towards Pelias Medea s life is now destined for
extreme agony, shame, and guilt. Her love for Jason causes her to tear away from her loving
parents and dishonor her father by helping his enemy. Hera s plan to avenge Pelias also flood
Medea s head with thoughts to keep her from straying from Hera s plan. Unfortunately for Medea
her decision to help Jason was not her own and was a careful thought out plan by Hera. Her life
would never again be the same. Even though Jason promises to love her always and promises that
she will be his wedded wife, he breaks this promise as soon as she become old and he is given the
opportunity to marry royalty. Medea decisions were not in any way wise but if it were not for the
arrows of Eros she would have had better judgment on the stranger. Medea s behavior in this
story shows that of loyalty and confusion in her heart. She is in agony because she can not
conceive as to why she feels so much love for a stranger and does not wish to dishonor her father
by doing so. But then she is constantly

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virtual Teams
Do virtual teams experience the stages of development?
When Bruce Tuckman presented his initial theory for group development in 1965, he couldn t
have possibly imagined a world dotted with virtual teams. Tuckman s framework for evaluating
teamwork using the stages of forming, storming, norming and performing was created after a
study of a variety of face to face teams. As a testimony to his work, it is generally accepted that
Tuckman s premise about groups experiencing definitive stages toward formation, also applies to
groups of people who don t share physical space and span time zones. There is some thought that
the storming stage is integrated into the other stages or skipped entirely. (Berry, 2011). The lack of
defined storming might be due to virtual teams having more of a task versus personality orientation
and having a well defined communication plan also serving as a proactive conflict management
measure.
Also, there is a shared opinion that well planned formation activities are critically important for a
virtual team. At the top of the list is training on the technology and related communication systems
to be used. (Berry, 2011).
The importance of trust in any team
There is agreement across the board of teamwork experts on the importance of trust in a team
setting. If a team wants to succeed, the presence of trust must be welcomed, nurtured and
maintained. There is also a majority shared opinion that trust building takes time, but it can be
accelerated with

Artificial Intelligence And Artificial Technology
The discussion of artificial intelligence is ultimately based on the development of computers. As
early as 1930s, Turing, a scientist, tried to make an intelligent machine in his short life in
accordance with his computational theory and even hoped to prove his theory Any wisdom. After
all, it was nothing but an extremely complicated operation. All of Turing s explorations focus on
wisdom, while the concept of artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence) was co sponsored by
John McCathy and Marvin Minsky. They also co founded MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory,
the world s most influential scientific research facility. If Turing s Wisdom Machine focuses on
using the machine to implement one of the six major human intelligence functions, such as vision,
language, learning, computing, reasoning, and cognition, Minsky argues that the problems facing
the development of artificial intelligence is that if the machine has not yet solved the problem of
human beings, because once any problem can be solved by the machine, human beings will
automatically remove the field of artificial intelligence to explore. Back to the scientific point of
view, you want to make a clear change in artificial intelligence, the first point is to clarify the
complexity of the human brain, and then can be analogy. From a scientific perspective, how
complex is our human brain? An average human brain has 100 billion neurons. An average brain
weighs about 1,500 grams and consumes an average

Challenges And Choices That We Make Us Grow As A Person
Obstacles in life are really challenges and choices that we make, placed there to help us grow as a
person. The obstacles, and how you deal with them, help to mold and shape character, then go on
to help others with their obstacles. I have faced some difficult struggles, which have portrayed
clearly that although sometimes one may feel alone, Hashem is always with you throughout every
obstacle you may tackle. These challenges are what make us stronger in the bitachon and emunah
in Hashem. When we attack an obstacle, we re prepared for other challenges that come our way in
the future. This tragic story had recently occurred, when I had found out the devastating news that

pleased with the message that she would deliver. My mother had tried to exclaim to me
delicately the dreadful news; although in the tone of her voice I can sense the tough time she
was having, that my great grandfather had unfortunately passed away. I felt my heart swell with
a sea of tears, How can this happen? Why to me? What did I do to deserve this? I believed that
my hope had gone to despair, it was like a fragile seed gone. The hope that I tried constructing
had now been demolished in a matter of seconds. I tried to pretend it was okay but it wasn t. I
tried to conceal my pain but there was no use. I was as stubborn as a mule; I couldn t accept the
reality that my great grandfather was no longer with us. Many of my friends saw a rapid change
in me instantly; my heart was shattered in pieces! I didn t have the courage to tell them what had
occurred to me, but they were very much aware that something was happening without doubt. As

Unraveling Bolero Song Analysis
The Unraveling Bolero podcast was about Anne Adams who was once a cell biologist in cancer
research, and Maurice Ravel a composer. Born 65 years apart, Adams and Ravel were affected
by the same disease, Frontotemporal Dementia (Abumrad). Frontotemporal dementia involves
progressive nerve cell loss (Frontotemporal Dementia). After Anne Adams son was in a serious
car accident, she decided to stay home and help him recover. Once he was healed and walking
again, she decided to quite cancer research, and pick up painting. She had not painted since high
school, and now she was suddenly a full time artist. She would paint houses and buildings, then
strawberries, and many things in a repetitious way. She would paint the same theme for a while,
and then change. She became obsessed with painting, and sold her art. Then, she heard Bolero,
she could not stop listening to it. She painted it, every note was a color, and the size of each note s
colored rectangle depended on the volume of the note. She called it Unraveling Bolero. Six years
after this painting, everything changed. Adams started losing memory, and the ability to speak. She
was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia, and participated in a study on the disease and the
University of California San Francisco. Adams eventually became paralyzed... Show more content

Diverse Industrial Agriculture
Our Adverse Industrial Agriculture Reversing back to the movie, Soylent Green we saw in 1
quarter, compelled me to think about the food we eat today. Our industrial Agriculture defines a
form of modern framing which uses techno scientific, economic and political methods to produce
their product. The products like crops, fish, livestock, and egg consumed by us. Most of the United
Statestoday practice intensive agriculture. That is, farms are often run like factories, and cultivated
using large amounts of labour and capital. Large amount of labour includes Fertilizer, insecticides,
fungicides and herbicides for growing crops. And capital is most important for maintaining high
efficiency machinery of planting for business profits. This industrial agriculture is considered a
great success but, it has a large effect on our environment and nature.... Show more content on

GMOs (genetically modified organisms) are organism that had specific changes in their DNA
using the method of genetic engineering. GMOs are applied on livestock, poultry and plant
seeds. However GMO seeds are highly commercialized in modern industrial agriculture because
it prevents from rotten farms and uses fewer pesticides. But in the bad point this genetic
engineering reduces the ability of seeds to grow again, therefor framers will have to buy new
seeds every time they farm. This resulted in big profit for seed selling companies. Since then GM
foods are widely spread in United States and is still spreading in third world. This negative new
science also creates unstable combinations of plants, animals, bacterial and viral gene, damaging
our natural system. It also concerns that GMOs can easily increase our toxic load, leading even

It would help if you referenced a piece of work as you went along with the numbers given in the

A way we try to minimise this impact is by buying whole cases so the suppliers can use the
original packaging and not having to repackage split cases. A major environmental impact that is
occurs when bringing in resources is through the transportation of them. In order to minimise the
impact this has on the environment we try to source our suppliers locally and minimise the amount
of deliveries we have a week.
In order to obtain resources we must ensure that we go to an appropriate supplier which has been
approved by the company. The approved suppliers have all been check and their support staff
have to go though an induction type process so they understand our fire regulations and
procedures. If a resource is required from a company that is not on our registered supplier list then
they must be added the appropriate paper work filled out.

Persuasive Against Racial Profiling
Judging a book by its cover is one of the most common yet worst mistakes a person can make.
Racial profiling is judging a person by their skin color, and not only does this lead you to false
ideas about that person, but also hurts that person you re judging. Shoshana Hebshi was judged;
she was targeted because of her Arab background and the way she looked. Due to her experience,
she is now filing lawsuits against the federal agencies that accused her and working to stop racial
profiling. Racial profiling is wrong and in order bring it to an end, Hebshi shouldn t stop with
filing lawsuits against the federal agencies but continue to gain support from similar ideological
interest groups as well as congressional support. With support from each part of the Iron Triangle,
racial profiling could be put to an end.
Imagine being accused, strip searched, scared, alone and trapped in a filthy prison cell all for
nothing. On September 11, 2011 this was Shoshana Hebshi, a woman who was of Arab descent
and therefore automatically a target. She and two other men were on a flight to Detroit when
they were suspected because of their skin color. Hebshi claims that she was not told of anything
nor even why she was being taken. She was placed in a cell, where she was ordered to strip
naked, squat, and cough while an officer looked at her. Shoshana Hebshi was completely innocent
and had done nothing wrong, yet she was being interrogated and treated as if though she were a
terrorist. She was

Statement of Teaching Philosophy, and My Experience...
Statement of Teaching Philosophy
A teacher can never truly teach unless he is still learning himself. A lamp can never light another
lamp unless it continues to burn its own flame. The teacher who has come to the end of his subject,
who has no living traffic with his knowledge but merely repeats his lesson to his students, can only
load their minds, he cannot quicken them. ... Rabindranath Tagore (Nobel prize in literature in 1913)
This is my favorite quotation because it express what, I think, is the essence of teaching and
learning. As a student, I have observed that the best teachers were those who cared the most about
teaching. It is noteworthy to mention that, I loved the way of my organic chemistry teacher taught

If a teacher makes the material covered in a course interesting, the students are more likely to learn
and keep the information presented. Besides helping students learn course content, I think its
teachers role to help students develop broader skills that are important in all field and future
careers. These skills include verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and consideration
of issues from multiple viewpoints. As an assistant professor, I would use several methods to
convey clearly principles relevant to the chemistry class I would teach:
Demonstration supplemented lectures.
In class participation
Development of Internet Resources
Research papers.
Motivation
One of most challenging task in teaching is the motivation of students. However, students can be
motivated to work hard if they see that professor cares about their success and if they see that he
/she sets high standards for him/herself as well as for the students. Poor lecturing, unavailability
during office hours, unfulfilled promises of checking the answer to a question, and general
sloppiness set the students wondering, not in a good way. Furthermore, motivation is one key
factor which brings students in the classroom. This can also be achieved logically by letting them
to know the significance of science, how it changes world, how can we have a better future, how
can we control fuel crisis, how can we reduce global

Comparing Oil Pipelines
By contrast, oil pipelines carry far more crude oil and have fewer leaks per mile. They also
present fewer safety risks than the 2009 explosions when Burlington Northern Santa Fe oil cars
caught fire in Oklahoma, requiring evacuations. (http;//www.wsj.com) No form of energy
production or transport is without risks, so the issue is how to do it as safely and efficiently as
possible. Canada and North Dakota are going to keep producing oil as long as America and the
world keep using it, which is likely to be many, many years to come. An oil spillis the release of a
liquid petroleumhydrocarbon into the environment, especially marine areas, due to human activity,
and is a form of pollution. The term is usually applied to marine oil spills, where oil is released
into the ocean or coastal waters, but spills may occur on land. (www.wikipedia.com) Oil spills
into rivers, bays, and the ocean most often are caused by accidents involving tankers, barges,
pipelines, refineries, drilling rigs, and storage facilities. Spills can be caused by people making
mistakes or being careless, equipment breaking down, hurricanes, deliberate acts by terrorists,...

  • 3. Feminist Critique Of The Awakening FThe Awakening: A Feminist Critique The Awakening by Kate Chopin depicts the awakening of a lady named Edna Pontellier. Set in New Orleans (Chopin 1), this novel follows Edna as she skirmishes with the life she is living and the life she wants to live. Moreover, one could view Edna as a model of feminism in her time. Chopin conveyed many feminist ideas throughout her writings in a time where it was uncommon; Chopin wrote The Awakening in a time when married women held no legal rights over their bodies and when few other female and feminist writers hazarded openly to explore a woman s sexual desire (Beer, et al 88). Chopin expresses feminist ideas through the actions of Edna Pontellier, supporting characters, and how Edna s husband both treats his wife and his stereotypical view of women. Throughout the novel, Edna becomes dissatisfied with her life, and decides that something needs to change. Right from the beginning of the novel, Edna immediately defies her husband when she feels she is being treated incorrectly. She said nothing, and refused to answer her husband when he questioned her (Chopin 6). These subtle defiances monsoons into greater ones, transforming Edna into a radical feminist. As Enda starts to realize what she desires, she figures out that love and sex do not necessarily coincide in the same object of desire (Beer, et al 90). Edna decides to leave her husband, saying that I am no longer one of Mr. Pontellier s possessions to dispose of or not. I give myself where I choose (Chopin 108). Spicher 2 Edna leaving her husband shows her independence from her husband and that she decides not to live with these traditional stereotypes any longer.. Edna also undergoes a sexual realization. Edna grapples with the conflict between her romantic and sexual impulses, both urging her towards adultery (Beer, et al 91). Between her love for Robert (Chopin 91) and her affair with AlcГ©e (Chopin 92), her departure from her husband allows her to sexually explore, thus making her more independent. All of the events described depict Edna s feminist attitudes towards her life. Even though Edna is a prime example of a feminist figure, she isn t the sole feminist character in the novel. Most importantly, he explains why baseball needs a salary cap by saying it is the only way to put constraints on what the Yankees are doing and to return the sport to the interesting and suspenseful form of sporting entertainment it once used to be. The Yankees are at an unfair advantage all across the league, and nobody, not Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Cleveland, or perhaps even Los Angeles, can acquire talent the way they can. The only way to prevent them from doing so is to put a cap on how much they can pay their entire team. The Major League Baseball Association (MLBA) decided to issue a luxury tax in February of 1997. • 10. Comparison of Aristotle and Thomas Hobbes Essay The foremost difference between Aristotle and Hobbes, and in turn classical and modern political philosophies , with regard to a good life and happiness is that of normative judgments about the good life. While Hobbes rejects normative judgments about the good life and discusses human actions without attributions of moral quality, Aristotle offers the exact opposite. In Ethics, Aristotle differentiates between good and evil actions along with what the best good, or summum bonum, for all humans while Hobbes approach argues that good and bad varies from one individual to another with good being the object of an individuals appetite or desire, and evil being an object of his hate and aversion. In addition, Aristotle makes it clear that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accordingly, whatever the excellent person finds pleasurable, should be considered the standard for judging individuals moral quality, as stated in the following passage: In fact, however, the pleasures differ quite a lot, in human beings at any rate. For some things delight some people, and cause pain to others; and while some find them painful and hateful, others find them pleasant and lovable...But in all such cases it seems that what is really so is what appears so to the excellent person. If this is right, as it seems to be, and virtue, i.e., the good person insofar as he is good, is the measure of each thing, then what appear pleasures to him will also really be pleasures...and if what he finds objectionable appears pleasant to someone, that is not at all surprising: for human beings suffer many sorts of corruption and damage. It is not pleasant, however, except to those people in these conditions. The previous passage shows then that the appetites or desires of corrupted people should not be taken into account while discussing the moral quality of an individuals actions. Aristotle s definition of mean, which is having certain feelings at the right times, about the right things, towards the right people, for the right end, and in the right way , clearly states that there is only one right answer to any moral dilemma faced by an ... The benefits we hope to gain from our leisure and our work become evident when we think about how we would fill the time if they were suddenly taken away. Family traditions are a good example of a way to find the routes of our feelings toward leisure (Hopp). Thinking about why we do not pursue leisure activities we have always wanted to reveals the personal attitudes, relationships and external factors that shape our leisure choices. Understanding leisure in your community starts by uncovering all leisure opportunities in a particular area. Looking closely at these leisure opportunities reveals an endless list of possible leisure spending whether directly from a leisure provider or indirectly facilitated (Hopp). I say all this to bring back the sole purpose and use of the invention was to connect outside of your home. Thirdly, I feel American children are not in tune with what this country fought for or been through to be called, Land of the Free. Bloodstream Infection Paper Reducing Hospital Acquired Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Bloodstream Infections Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) can be used for routine patient care for treatment and have been increasingly used over the past years. PICCs relieve patients from frequent venipuncture for serial lab draws, decreases frequent re starts of PIVs, and the patient can be discharged home, if needed, for continued IV therapy. Although there are benefits to these easily inserted central lines, central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) are a possibility (Dumont Nessselrodt, 2012). What are some of the advantages of mobile devices that help residents of sub Saharan Africa to better receive information and facilitate communication? There are several advantages of mobile devices that help residents of sub Saharan Africa to better receive information and facilitate communication. With the low cost, rapid adoption of mobile phones, search costs to visit markets to compare prices and products have decreased dramatically. Residents can call markets or friends to obtain information about said prices and products immediately, instead of waiting for information via radio broadcast or conducting a person visit which can be both time and cost intensive. In this way, they are also becoming active (instead of passive) participants in knowledge accumulation and transfer, as they can retrieve and communicate information from and to various sources. Additionally, this increased communication can improve business efficiency, especially in terms of smaller firms. Often situated in rural areas, these smaller firms in sub Saharan Africa have limited supply options. With improved, efficient communication, they can better manage their supply chains, engage in new activities, and even streamline production processes. This is pertinent in terms of enriched productivity, stimulating both firm and economic growth in the long run. By extension of this productivity facet, and the growth of mobile devices, there is a higher demand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sandy, the previous supervisor, had been in the position for years and had a rigid approach to how work would be accomplished. There was also perception that she enjoyed having those she supervised dislike or fear her. When I started in the position I wanted to demonstrate that I felt differently about this supervisory role. I feel that in trying to be less aggressive than Sandy I am not as directive as I should be. 2.Why is this important to you? I want to do my job well. I feel that general ... • 20. The Evolution Of Flightless Birds Evolution occurs when an animal species develops new bodily structures and functions in order to adapt to their new environment. These developments are seen as positive adaptations that enhances survival. However, some animal species have lost these new developments. Based on the geographic location and climate, some evolutionary developments that are no longer needed are lost due to the fact that the new bodily structure itself does not enhance the chance of survival in a particular environment (Kirchman 2009; Vieites, et al. 2009). In most cases these lost developments are passed down through future generations and are never redeveloped. However, more information is needed to decide whether or not the loss of these evolutionary developments was due to natural selection or by random mutation over years (Wilkens and Strecker 2003). In this paper, I will examine three studies from a diversity of taxa, which illustrate the history of flightless birds, how climate has influenced the evolutionof salamanders and how life lived in darkness has influenced the blindness in cave fish. Together these studies depict how these evolutionary abilities are lost and their affects on the animal species. Krichman (2009) examined the ancestry of flightless birds (Gallirallus philippenesis) through the usage of genetic testing that were sampled throughout a range of ancestral species. This was to test a model of speciation where flightless birds were thought to have evolved from flying birds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. The Fear Of Zombies By Franklin D. Roosevelt Kinemortophobia: The Fear of Zombies Franklin D. Roosevelt said one of the most recognizable quotes in history during his first Inaugural Address: The Only Thing We Have to Fear is Fear Itself! (Roosevelt) Fear is one of the most uncomfortable emotions that humans can experience and it occurs all throughout a person s lifetime. Terror can also be a very powerful tool to influence society and their decision making. Fear can drive a population to purchase a product that they deem a necessity or advocate war. The existing fear of death and destruction in Max Brook s World War Z led to influence survival choices of characters in order to prevent the spread of the infection. Similar circumstances can be observed during World War I and II through the use of propaganda encouraging US citizens to take part in the war effort. When comparing the two scenarios, one is able to understand that both World War Z and the World Wars were able to use the existing fear to influence society and society s decisions. Fear is an existing emotion that begins in childhood and progresses into adulthood. Children ages zero to two fear separation of parents, loud noises, and strangers while three to six year olds fear imaginary beings such as ghost and monsters (Smith). It is understandable that fear progresses in one s lifetime, morphing from childish fears into more real like scenarios. Propaganda, especially during wartime, appealed more to the fears of adults, as artists were targeting that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are conflicting reports about what illnesses he suffered from, but there is some consensus even still: he had both scarlet and rheumatic fever, chronic or frequent colds, sinusitis, heart palpitations, and, the most important to this app, asthma. Now, the asthma alone would have been enough to make his life difficult treatment wasn t very advanced in the days of Steve s childhood, and it would have made it hard for him to do much but compounding that, society s reaction to asthma was largely unfavorable. Steve feels an obligation to his country, to his fellow man, that his body initially doesn t allow him to fulfill, but that doesn t stop him from trying. One might imagine that this is due to his mother and father s influence in his life both of them set aside their lives in the hopes of making life better for others. His mother was a nurse in a TB ward, and his father died of mustard gas in World War I. Due to these two influences, as well as his own intrinsic sense of moral obligation, Steve feels compelled to fight in World War II, despite the fact that he is, by all measures, completely unsuited for it. As the doctor at the beginning of Captain America: The First Avenger states, Steve would be ineligible for service based on his asthma alone but that doesn t stop him from trying to enlist five times. While there is an element of having something to prove to the world Steve s illness throughout his life and society s reaction to it has left him with a chip on his shoulder a mile wide he also just plain wants to help, because he sees it as his moral obligation to. Now, Bucky says that there are important jobs on the home front, and Steve could do any one of them, but Steve denies this, saying There are men laying down their lives. I ve got no right to do any less than them. Nearly 70 years later, Steve is called back into service just over two weeks after having been pulled out of the ice, and he goes without a complaint, even though he s still adjusting to the reality of his new world. Steve s own mental well being is less important than his obligation to the rest of the world. Two years after that, when Steve is forced to fight his best friend, he begins by asking Bucky not to make him do it and then fights him anyway, because Bucky is standing between him and his avenue to save the world, and Steve s duty to the world is more important than his own ... In a world where we look to technology to answer all of life s problems, we are faced with a dilemma. How can our technology possibly keep up with our modern needs? In the first book of the Neanderthal Parallax, Hominids, by Robert J. Sawyer, we are transported into a parallel universe. In this unpolluted world that is populated by Neanderthals, there is a sophisticated computing system, we know as a quantum computer. As of 2014, quantum computers are still in their infancy, and have been prophesied since the early 1990s. I DEDICATE THIS SONG TO YOU, THE ONE WHO NEVER SEES THE TRUTH, THAT I CAN TAKE AWAY YOUR HURT, HEARTBREAK GIIIIRL I sing as I squeeze some leave in conditioner from the bottle into my hand. I scrunch it up through my hair. I gotta get it through your head, that you belong with me insteeeead! I stop to pretend to play the guitar after that line. I run my hair over again with the brush, and I plug in my hair dryer. Sober by Selena Gomez starts playing next. I sway my hips as I turn on the dryer and blow the air across my wet hair. YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO LOVE ME WHEN YOU RE SOBER! WHEN THE BOTTLES DONE YOU PULL ME closer! I sing through it, and half my hair is almost dry. • 39. The Importance Of Work In The Workplace For many employed people, a workplace is like a second home. According to the Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development in 2016 in the United States, the annual hours actually worked per worker on their main job is 1,783 hours (OECD, 2017). The atmosphere of a workplace contributes to the mental and emotional wellness of its employees and the productivity of an organization, as a whole; therefore, it is important to establish consistent house rules or guidelines to communicate to both management and employees how to conduct themselves for the goodwill of the company and its people. Every person at an organization brings a diverse set of individual needs and motivations apart from the company s primary agenda. Despite their commitment to perform their specific work responsibilities while in the workplace, each person obligates himself or herself to non work urgencies that can produce interruptions within the boundaries of their required duty to an organization (Casper DePaulo, 2012). Such non work urgencies may involve a spouse or a child for a partnered employee; therefore, many organizations establish family friendly policies in consideration of a partnered employee s life outside of the workplace or the exceeding obligations of a person with parental responsibilities (Casper DePaulo, 2012, p. 232). Family friendly policies could include a flexible work schedule with the option to telecommute some days, or extra time off to care for an ill partner or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virtual Teams Do virtual teams experience the stages of development? When Bruce Tuckman presented his initial theory for group development in 1965, he couldn t have possibly imagined a world dotted with virtual teams. Tuckman s framework for evaluating teamwork using the stages of forming, storming, norming and performing was created after a study of a variety of face to face teams. As a testimony to his work, it is generally accepted that Tuckman s premise about groups experiencing definitive stages toward formation, also applies to groups of people who don t share physical space and span time zones. There is some thought that the storming stage is integrated into the other stages or skipped entirely. (Berry, 2011). The lack of defined storming might be due to virtual teams having more of a task versus personality orientation and having a well defined communication plan also serving as a proactive conflict management measure. Also, there is a shared opinion that well planned formation activities are critically important for a virtual team. At the top of the list is training on the technology and related communication systems to be used. (Berry, 2011). The importance of trust in any team There is agreement across the board of teamwork experts on the importance of trust in a team setting. If a team wants to succeed, the presence of trust must be welcomed, nurtured and maintained. There is also a majority shared opinion that trust building takes time, but it can be accelerated with ... • 43. Artificial Intelligence And Artificial Technology The discussion of artificial intelligence is ultimately based on the development of computers. As early as 1930s, Turing, a scientist, tried to make an intelligent machine in his short life in accordance with his computational theory and even hoped to prove his theory Any wisdom. After all, it was nothing but an extremely complicated operation. All of Turing s explorations focus on wisdom, while the concept of artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence) was co sponsored by John McCathy and Marvin Minsky. They also co founded MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the world s most influential scientific research facility. If Turing s Wisdom Machine focuses on using the machine to implement one of the six major human intelligence functions, such as vision, language, learning, computing, reasoning, and cognition, Minsky argues that the problems facing the development of artificial intelligence is that if the machine has not yet solved the problem of human beings, because once any problem can be solved by the machine, human beings will automatically remove the field of artificial intelligence to explore. Back to the scientific point of view, you want to make a clear change in artificial intelligence, the first point is to clarify the complexity of the human brain, and then can be analogy. From a scientific perspective, how complex is our human brain? An average human brain has 100 billion neurons. An average brain weighs about 1,500 grams and consumes an average ... A major environmental impact that is occurs when bringing in resources is through the transportation of them. In order to minimise the impact this has on the environment we try to source our suppliers locally and minimise the amount of deliveries we have a week. In order to obtain resources we must ensure that we go to an appropriate supplier which has been approved by the company. The approved suppliers have all been check and their support staff have to go though an induction type process so they understand our fire regulations and procedures. Racial profiling is judging a person by their skin color, and not only does this lead you to false ideas about that person, but also hurts that person you re judging. Due to her experience, she is now filing lawsuits against the federal agencies that accused her and working to stop racial profiling. With support from each part of the Iron Triangle, racial profiling could be put to an end. Imagine being accused, strip searched, scared, alone and trapped in a filthy prison cell all for nothing.
