Nosocomial Infection Control Diseases
Executive Summary
C.W. Bill Young and its patients will significantly decrease the incidence of nosocomial infections,
and greatly improve cost savings by implementing a comprehensive infection control strategy. As part
of this strategy, the acquisition of computer keyboards and mice that allow better infection control
measures is of significant importance.
Why implement infection control changes and acquire medical grade keyboards and mice?
Nosocomial infections have been identified as significant problems for hospitals nationwide. Millions
of dollars are unnecessarily spent annually to combat sequela due to pathogenic microorganisms
acquired in a nosocomial nature. Hundreds of thousands of patients suffer needlessly across the US

Global Warming and Human Population
Essay on Deforestation in India
Forest loss is directly associated with human population growth. In 1921 human population was 25. 13
crores and forests cover was 104.05 million hectares. By 1989, forests cover reduced to 64.01 m ha,
while human population in 1991 reached to 84.39 crores.
Deforestation is due to diversion of forest land to agricultural land, river valley projects, roads,
industiy and urbanization, transmission lines and activities like shifting cultivation, fuelwood and
timber collection overgrazing fires and acid rains (vide Rana, 2006).

Most scientists agree that planet s temperature has risen 0.5 degree Celsius since 1900 and will
continue to increase at an increasing rate. As a result, the world is getting warmer. The year 1990 was
the hottest year in the last century.
Together with 1991, the years of 1983, 1987, 1988 and 1989 have been measured to be the warmest
six years in the last hundred years. The year 1991 was the second warmest year of the past century.
The consequences of the rise in temperature is being felt all over the globe the findings of scientific
research done in this field reveal that the temperature of the earth is likely to rise from 1.4°C to 5.8°C
within a period of 100 years.
Unfortunately, the imbalance which we have created between our life and earth is already showing the
signs disasters in the form of flood, cyclones, landslides, tsunami, drought, etc. If the imbalance
continues to rise, one day this will pose a question mark on the existence of this planet. Carbon
dioxide (C02) which is an important constituent of environment is causing a warming effect on the
earth s surface.
It increases the evaporation of water into the atmosphere. Since water vapour itself is a greenhouse
gas, this causes still more warming. The warming causes more water vapour to be evaporated. The
C02 level is expected to rise in future due to ongoing burning of fossil fuels and landuse change. The
rate of rise will depend largely on uncertain economic,

Analysis Of The Harper Article
DFW s thesis in the Harper s article is about how he glorifies Bryan A. Garner s dictionary because it
challenges the difference between Democracy and Authority. It helps people understand why language
is important, why we shouldn t end a sentence with a preposition and why/how different dialects can
be helpful to know throughout a person s life. Throughout the article DFW uses harshness, wittiness,
empathy, sympathy and some bold words to affectively get his points a crossed to the reader. In
Harpers article DFW speaks about how important it is to speak multiple dialects. SWE and SBE are
two of the most common dialects. SWE is the abbreviations for Standard Written English, and SBW
stands for Standard Black English. Most successful people use standard written English such as
politicians, lawyers, and news reporters. In schools teachers drill it into the student s head that SWE is
the correct dialect and that any pother that they use is wrong. In this article DFW stresses the
importance of being able to use different dialects in different situations. He then begins describing the
scene of someone who is just getting their paper handed back to them, but when they look at it the
teacher has corrected their paper so that it is in proper SWE format. He then goes on to say that [i]n
my English class you will have to master and write in Standard Written English, which we might just
as well call Standard White English, because it was developed by white people and is used

What Is Heathcliff s Abuse Of Power
In Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Catherine s death unleashes powerful emotions in both
Hindley and Heathcliff that result in a bloody conflict from which Heathcliff emerges the true master
of Thrushcross Grange. Though there are many different kinds of masters, in Wuthering Heights,
masters are the people with power; the power that people like Hindley are born to have, and people
like Heathcliff strive to gain. Hindley and Heathcliff have struggled for power ever since Hindley s
father brought Heathcliff home, and in chapter 17, Heathcliff finally wins their lifelong war. During
Isabella s narration, she recounts that, after having tried and failed to kill Heathcliff, who in return hit
him in the face with a rock, [Hindley] had fallen senseless... [Heathcliff] kicked and trampled him...
He exerted preterhuman self denial in abstaining from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His weak condition and lack of allies makes his attempt on Heathcliff s life useless, and, in return,
Heathcliff takes the last of his dignity and, with it, the remainder of his power. Heathcliff rules through
fear just as Hindley did, making even his wife too afraid to run away, and he uses this fear to overtake
Hindley. Even his abstinence from finishing him completely (103) shows that Heathcliff has
completely removed all of Hindley s influence from Thrushcross Grange. He doesn t need to
physically kill him, because he has effectively cut off any influence Hindley once had over
Thrushcross Grange, and reduced him to virtually nothing. Though Heathcliff has taken everything
but Hindley s life, he doesn t stop there. Once Hindley dies, Heathcliff becomes ...the master of
Wuthering Heights: he held firm possession, and proved to the attorney who, in his turn, proved it to
Mr. Linton that Earnshaw had mortgaged every yard of land he owned for cash to supply his mania for
gaming; and he, Heathcliff, was the mortgagee

Essay on Charles Ng
On June 2, 1985, Officer Daniel Wright, of the San Francisco Police Department, was dispatched to a
lumberyard where a shoplifting had just occurred. Upon arrival, a store employee informed the officer
that an Asian man had concealed a bench vice in his jacket and was seen placing it in the trunk of a
1980 Honda Prelude., and when the employee attempted to question the man he quickly fled on foot.
Officer Wright looked into the vehicle and discovered a bag that contained a silenced handgun. At this
point a bearded man approached the officer with a sales receipt claiming that he had paid for the vice
his friend had taken. Officer Wright questioned the bearded man after discovering that he had

Lake s ex wife had informed authorities of a very remote area where Lake and Ng had stayed. After
confirming the information, Police obtained a search warrant of the premises. When the warrant was
executed more findings consisted, of blood, bullet casings, and a room that had a bed rigged with
restraints. Other items such as women s clothing, blood soaked blankets, videos, and stolen equipment
were also found. Police also searched a sophistically built bunker that contained a library of videos,
torturing instruments, and a holding cell. An incinerator was also located on the premises. Police then
leveled the bunker in an attempt to find human remains on the property. With all this evidence and
information investigators were left with one suspect who had taken his own life, and another who was
at large. A nation wide man hunt was issued on Charles Ng. The last of Charles Ng s whereabouts
were that of him picking up his last pay check, packing up important items such as ID s and pass ports
and abandoning his apartment.
Far from California hiding in Calgary Canada, Charles Ng manages to elude authorities for thirty four
days although his affinity for shoplifting lead to his capture just as it had for Leonard Lake. On July 6,
1985, two security guards approached Ng, who had just shoplifted grocery items, when the two guards
challenged him, Ng produced a handgun. A scuffle

Speech In Tamburlaine
In order to understand the treatment of the set speech in Marlowe s Tamburlaine it is necessary to
consider the play as a whole. In most of Marlowe s plays there is a central issue to which all
subsidiary issue are related. In Tamburlaine the central issue of the play is an idea. The representative
of this idea is the hero himself round whom the whole action and all the other characters revolve.
The characters of the plays written before Marlowe s time gave the impression that they would take
every opportunity for turning a given situation into an occasion for long and lively declamation and
the delivery of set speech. Yet, for Tamburlaine, the set speech is a condition of his existence. This
means that in what Tamburlaine is concerned there is a close relationship between the speaker and his
speeches.

In dialogues the individual utterances tend to be short, whereas in monologues they are generally
longer.
In Tamburlaine, Marlowe used this device in a different way. Instead of giving the neutral account of
the character s origin, name and nature, in Tamburlaine the self representation is informed in every
line by the individuality of this character. In previous plays, the monologue had usually combined its
expository function with that of reinforcing the moral of the whole play. In Tamburlaine is in a much
fuller sense a means of self expression because the moral in Tamburlaine is identified with the feelings
and wishes of the main character.
Tamburlaine s hyperbolical way of speaking is in proportion to the man himself, creating a personal

Sexual Masochism Disorder
Sexual Masochism Disorder I found the inclusion of sexual masochism disorder (and sexual sadism
disorder) in the DSM 5 interesting and outdated. Sexual Masochism Disorder is a Paraphilic Disorder
which is defined as recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors generally
involving i) non human objects, ii) the suffering or humiliation of oneself or one s partner, or iii)
children or other non consenting persons that occur over a period of at least 6 months with a proposed
new definition of any powerful and persistent sexual interest other than sexual interest in copulatory or

I know that my proclivity toward dangerous sex can be precarious and even perilous with an untrained
partner but I am careful to choose partners that are well versed in the art of sadism, as are most
masochists. While I do suffer from mental health diagnoses of Anxiety and Depression, I have never
been diagnosed with SMD, or another Paraphilia based disorder. I do believe that for most people who
practice or seek out dangerous sex it is because of the thrill of participating in deviant behavior. It is
no surprise to me that 4.6% of women have reported enjoying pain in a sexual experience, and 30 50%
of women fantasize about. Based on the information I gathered in regards to Paraphilia and Paraphilia
Disorders it does seem fitting that sexual sadism disorder and sexual masochism disorder be changed
to paraphilia behaviors, if not entirely removed. It seems that if these disorders are changed, and there
is no longer the fear of criminal charges or medicalization of said sexual behaviors, there is a higher
likelihood that those who participate in said behaviors will come forward and seek help if they do feel
disturbed or the behavior is interfering with their daily

The National Environmental Policy Act Essay
The National Environmental Policy Act
Our Congress created the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) in 1969 in order to establish an
environmental foundation for mankind. This policy endorses harmony between humans and the vast
ecosystems surrounding them. To obtain this goal and provide our future with resources as well, NEPA
is separated into two titles. The first title declares the policy in detail while the second title focuses on
the Council on Environmental Quality. The CEQ oversees the effectiveness of current methods, the
reactions of the environment to those methods, and implements revisions as necessary. In Title I of
NEPA, our government recognizes the immutable link between mankind s dealings and the impacts on

A proposal to alter the current environmental status must state the anticipated impact of the change,
any possible negative effects and proposed alternatives, short and long term uses of the change and
any irrevocable use of resources. Additionally, there must be consultations with any Federal agency
that has jurisdictional law or special expertise with that particular environmental issue. The President,
the CEQ, and the general public subsequently review the proposal. If a proposal has unresolved
conflicts in any area it is not simply dismissed. Further study and research is done to try to rectify
those areas. Further, Title I looks to assist in worldwide endeavors to addressing environmental issues
and concerns that are within the boundaries of US foreign policy. It also makes it possible for advice
and information on the maintenance, enhancement, and restoration of the environment to be available
to States, counties, municipalities, institutions, and individuals. Lastly, this first section of NEPA
insists on reviewing statutory limitations, administrative regulations, and current methods to
continually conform to the goals of environmental well being. It stands as a frequent supplement to
existing environmental laws. Title II of NEPA focuses on the Council on Environmental Quality. Their
objective is to make sure that agencies dealing with the environment are compliant to NEPA and to

The show Watch Me Move spoke about the history behind the dances and how dance has progressed
through the years. Throughout the show there were prominent dances such as the Charleston,
Cakewalk, and the Lindy Hop. There are very distinguished people such as James Brown, Gladys
Knight and the Pips, The Supremes, Michael Jackson and Prince along with many more. This gave me
a more insightful look on what happened through the history and how the evolution of music and
dances had cycled through. It is easy to say that the majority of the dances that evolved into something
else were originated by the African Americans and their communities. While watching I couldn t help

Through the different dances there has been a style change with how the dancers move within the
dance. As time goes on there appeared to be less and lesser clothing on the dancers. I have seen first
hand how dance styles changed through my life. The changes between what music is popular and how
to dance to the song. Throughout being taught at dance school, there were variations of provocatively
that certain dance styles would partake in. Jazz dance and hip hop were seen to be more of the risqué
dance forms that the costumes showed more skin. Is the changing of dance costumes being influenced
by what we see on music videos? Is it related to the stripper culture we ve spoken about in class?
Some of the changes have been drastic with the costumes or the choice of dance moves, but some are
very subtle such as liturgical or modern dances that have had much of a change in the culture of the
dance. This show glorifies how dancing can be made into whatever the dancer wants it to be. I found
this movie beneficial because it let me think more intimately with my paper topic about clogging.
There probably are connections between the spreading of the cakewalk that has or had influenced the

Opium In China In The Late 19th Century
Around the early 19th century, China began to have many issues with a drug called opium. British
merchants longed for Chinese goods, but the Chinese did not want many of the goods that they had.
This situation caused a trade imbalance to occur between China and Britain (3). In order to pay for the
Chinese luxuries that they wanted, the British increased the production of opium in India and began to
trade Bengal opium in China (2). The Chinese empire objected to the opium trade many times, but the
demand for opium kept increasing (2). The drug caused many problems in China because much of the
population became addicted and many economic issues occurred (2). In 1839, Commissioner Lin
attempted to end the foreign trade on opium in China by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much of Britain s food, profits, and fortunes came from Chinese goods. Chinese goods have
benefitted Britain greatly, yet Britain repaid them with the product of opium. Suppose the subject of
another country were to come to England to trade, he would certainly be required to comply with the
laws of England, then how much more does this apply to us of the celestial empire! Lin stressed to
Queen Victoria that the foreign traders must comply with the Chinese laws because of the universality
of them and out of respect and honor to the country. Many of the natives that sold and used opium
were subject to death and Lin stated that the foreign merchants deserved this same fate. Lin wanted
Queen Victoria to command her merchants to obey the Chinese laws and pleaded for her to stop the
opium trade in China. At the end of his letter, Lin asked the queen to punish the subjects that had
violated the laws and to unite the trade market in peace once more (). The purpose of Commissioner
Lin s letter was to peacefully convince Queen Victoria to stop the trade of opium in China. Lin tried to
convince the queen by stating the moral issues with opium, the obligation to follow the Chinese laws,
and by praising

Critical Analysis Of The Rocking Horse Winner
(A Critique of Rocking Horse Winner...) The author s work is known for its explorations of human
nature and illustrates the nature of materialism (Jones). Throughout life, we are constantly developing
who we are as people. As we grow, we grasp hold of things we wish to portray ourselves with. In
doing so, we create ourselves as humans. In this philosophy that has been developed, we base how we
are raised in order to develop who we become in the long run. Over time, we receive knowledge
pertaining to who we wish to become. In the story story The Rocking Horse Winner written by D. H.
Lawrence, we are taken to a questionable development of humans in an equally disturbing adventure.
In this short story, there are many messages that can be traced throughout. In The Rocking Horse
Winner by D. H. Lawrence, an immense amount of attention is poured towards the focus of money.
Today, who someone is depends drastically upon the amount of money they have. Sadly, money
determines who you are before you even realize it. The same idea is developed into this story. An
essay says, While his father is a hard worker, he does not bring in enough money to satisfy the
expensive tastes of the latter s wife. Because of this, Paul s mother resents her husband and makes it
clear that she wants more monetary benefits out of life (Pierce). Although she may not realize it, Paul
s mother is beginning to demand so much of her husband that it not only wears out her husband, but
continually rubs off onto Paul. Paul becomes so bothered by the thought that his family has little to
none money, and his only desire is to change that feeling for his family. He begins to realize that he
wants nothing but money for his family so they can experience life in such a way that they are able to
enjoy what they have and obtain more. As Paul is growing up amid such an issue, he begins to realize
that no matter what he is doing, he is constantly being reminded that his family is destitute. He was
looking so extraordinarily foolish for no other reason but that he heard the secret whisper all over the
house: There must be more money (Page 1248). Given the circumstances, everything that Paul did
reminded him subtly about the family issue. Because of

How Is Hitler A Victim Of Post-War Propaganda
The Myth dispeller
Is Hitler a victim of post war propaganda; why has the term Nazi become a term of abuse and was
Hitler really a racist?
Myth #1 Propaganda in the west
Hitler was not averse to treading on people s toes and the biggest toes he trod on are those of the Jews.
Like others before him, he stemmed the tide of European Jewry, but failed to conquer worldwide
Zionism, especially in the U.S. The legacy he left behind him and especially his final testament still
echo s today. Centuries will pass away, but out of the ruins of our towns and monuments the hatred
against those finally responsible whom we have to thank for everything, international Jewry and its
helpers, will grow.
It took only two post war decades for the Jews ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Hitler s SS, over a third originated from foreign nations, including a Muslim Handschar division,
Indians, Arabs and a Russian Vlasov RLA. This was whilst the blacks in the U.S. armed forces were
still segregated, and twenty years before the UK, who still had signs in guesthouses in the 1960 s
which read No Irish, dogs or blacks.
Hitler believed in the superiority of races and distinctions amongst them, not racism which is a dislike
of colour. The Second World War German army was the most ethnically diverse in history. Hitler
simply believed in the separation of races and the total exclusion of the Jews. The white supremacy
label then is a recent add on, designed to evoke feelings of racialism amongst a dumbed down and
largely ignorant population. Six million, Oi veh! It is all designed to mislead and misinform!
I firmly believe that in times to come, probably not in our lifetime, the west will again awake and view
Hitler as a man ahead of his time, a prophet. The Jews are a clever and manipulative race, but their
downfall, repeated throughout history, is that their genetic inheritance and a racial predisposition for
wealth, deception and control, means that they are destined to repeat the same mistakes, which led
Hitler to embark on a National Socialist

American Traditions And Qualities Of The United States Essay
For many international students, acclimating to American society can be troublesome and occasionally
disappointing. American traditions and qualities may be altogether different from those of your nation
of origin, and you may discover them befuddling. America s populace reflects surprising ethnic
differences. Non white individuals dwarf whites in a lesser expansive urban area. Daily papers
regularly utilize such terms as Asian American, Italian
American, and Bedouin American to mirror the ingenuity of different ethnic legacies inside the
Unified States. There are individuals whose skin is named white, dark, cocoa, yellow and red.
There are individuals who have numerous years of formal instruction and individuals who have about
none. There are the exceptionally rich and also the extremely poor. There are
Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Communists, Communists, Libertarians, and disciples of other
political perspectives too. There are Legal advisors, agriculturists, handymen, instructors, social
laborers, movement officers and individuals in a great many different occupations. Some live in urban
zones and some in rustic ones. Given this differing qualities, would one be able to conveniently
discuss Americans ? Probably so, given that one is watchful.
Americans don t more often than not see themselves, when they are in the

Analysis Of Translation Nation By Hector Tovar
The book Translation Nation by Hector Tovar begins by telling his own story, and how migrating to
Los Angeles from Guatemala changed his parents and shaped his. Not only that, but how iconic Che
Guevara was to his family, even comparing him to god. He continued by showing the similarities in
Los Angeles and New York, how the Latino immigrants were following in the steps of those from
around Europe, assimilating and creating a community of their own. Then he began talking about the
border between Tijuana, Mexico, and California. Describing the emptiness of the beach that day, and
the fact that many people from all over Mexico were wandering the streets of Tijuana, waiting for

Consequently, low cost carriers (LCCs) recorded growth during the review period.
The growing popularity of LCCs has led many full service airlines to launch subsidiaries offering
flight options with limited services. For example, China Eastern Airlines announced the launch of
China United Airlines in July 2014 and in July 2013, Air Canada launched its LCC, Air Canada
Rogue.
The North American airline market recorded slow growth during the review period (2009−2013) in
comparison to the developing Asia Pacific and Latin American markets. According to the International
Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the region s air traffic increased at rate of 1.3% in 2012 and 2.1%
in 2013. Growth is expected to continue at a rate of 2.7% in 2014. The IATA expects the profit of
airlines in North America to increase from US$7.0 billion in 2013 to US$9.2 billion in 2014.
Boeing s Current Market Outlook 2014 report stated that North America holds a 27% share and Latin
America held a 33% share of the total seat capacity of LCCs in 2013.
One of the key reasons for high growth rate of LCCs in the Asia Pacific region is the emergence of a
rapidly expanding middle class population and greater levels of disposable income. Another factor is
the establishment of LCC subsidiaries by full service airlines.

Fermentation is undoubtedly the most important stage to achieve the taste of the beer, because while
sugar transformation into alcohol and carbonic gas takes place, yeast produces other substances in
very small quantities, which are responsible for the aroma and flavor of the beer. The development of
chemical analysis procedures that took place during recent years allowed a more comprehensive
understanding about beer composition. It is therefore during the fermentation process that the beer
style is created. This process normally will take a month.
These two steps are shown by figure 1.
Figure 1
The packaging process occurs after the fermentation. The beer flows to the keg, canning, and bottling
lines when it our of the government cellar. There are five canning lines, three bottling lines, and a keg
line can be run in the Winston Salem brewery. The capacity for can lines is 1300 cans per minute, for
bottle lines is 900 bottles per minute, and for keg line is 340 half barrels per hour. For the five can
lines, all the brands of beer can be canned at the same time, or one brand of beer can be canned with
two different types at the same time. For three bottle lines, different bottle shapes and sizes can be
filled at the same time, and new bottles and returnable bottles can be separated when filling and
packaging. The packaging process also can be divided into two steps: 1. filling and capping and 2.

Perpetual Peace Kant Eu
The EU represents Kant s idea of a federation of states in perpetual of peace in many of the more
overarching ways, it must be noted that it is not a perfect fit. Before diving into the support of this
claim, it is important to realize what the European Union is so to fully understand what it could
represent. The EU is a political and economic union, hoping to facilitate free movement in terms of
trading, with the intent of building peaceful relationships and increasing economic growth. Perhaps
the biggest reason the EU was created was to increase peace throughout Europe and hopefully take
away the possibility of another World War. The European Unions serves as a facilitator for agreement

The EU would not function without the consensus between countries for a goal of perpetual peace.
The economic goals of the EU, while not totally representative of Kant s views, are not surprisingly in
our ever globalizing and growing capitalist world. Although Kant s essay on perpetual peace was
written in 1795, parts of it are eerily predictive and representative of the EU today. This can mainly
been seen in his proposition of a peace program between multiple nations, exactly what the EU has
become. Kant focuses on the possibility of perpetual peace instead of going to war any time there is a
conflict. He emphasizes the importance on connected nation states that do not interfere with each
other s governments or constitutions and to end the imperialism of one nation dominating another. The
EU represents this because it was made with the intent of perpetuating peace throughout their
continent, desperate for this stability after the horrors of WWII. The EU is connected through treaties
and common ideas, respecting each nation within the union. Kant focuses on the idea of nations
independently connecting themselves to each other for the goal of peace and therefore a heightened
society. It is clear that the EU was trying to do this, and they were able to accomplish it. Kant also
brings up the idea of free travel between the connected nations, something that is very prevalent in the

Mulholland Drive Movie Essay
Mulholland Drive, directed by David Lynch, is a film that plays heavily on the idea of disillusionment.
Lynch incinerates the viewers expectations for this storyline by revealing to us that the everything we
have seen was part of some elaborate fantasy, three quarters into movie. The film uses editing to
generate emotions and ideas through the construction of patterns and seeing, hinting towards the film s
unconventionality. The casting couch scene in the film in which Betty has her first audition made me
feel uncomfortable and off gaurs, as this character who is presented as innocent suddenly sexualizes

The reading brings up how Scottie s transformations of Judy is reflective of the transformation of
stars, specifically highlighting male dominance. However, Lynch takes a different approach in which
he rejects the Hollywood obsession with masculinity just as he rejects linear formatting. Lynch takes a
similar approach to creating a film on the premise of disillusionment, but he tries to modernize the
story in ways that add to the complexity while being more overtly explicit then Hitchcock could have
been during his time. One quote from Shetley s analysis which really made sense in explaining this
film to me is when he says: [a]s much as her lesbian inclination, movie love is a forbidden desire that
keeps Diane on the outside of Hollywood, where no one who genuinely loves movies gets to make
them, where only those who instrumentalize both women and movies are allowed access. Here
Shetley is saying that Lynch is perhaps reflecting on his experiences in Hollywood and conveys this
truth by showing Diane s harsh reality. This character of Diane is so tormented by her love for Camilla
and her desire to be a successful actress that it pushes her to the extremes, causing her to orchestrate
Camilla s death before eventually taking her own life after enduring horrific hallucinations of actors

The Importance Of Job Related Stress Among Police Officers
As a police commander or administrator, addressing the concerns of the officers in your employ, is
one of the most important duties that you have. This is especially true when addressing the issues of
job related stress. Studies have shown that many police officers perceive the most stress, which they
experience, originates from within the department. The studies have also shown that job related stress
is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease in police officers (Vicini, 2013). With these thoughts in
mind, it is imperative for police administrators to have a plan of action in place, to evaluate and
validate the concerns of the officers, and to provide the most effective practices to reduce this stress.
As an administrator, who officers had confided their concerns to, the first thing that I would need to do
would be to evaluate the validity of the officers claims about the stressors which they are dealing with.
The first step of this process would be to meet with the officers, in a one on one setting, so that I could
evaluate their appearance, mood, level of agitation, and their sincerity concerning the issues which
they are bringing forward. This meeting would be a way of showing the officers that I am truly
concerned with heir issues, and their wellbeing. Once I have met with the officers, I would move to
the next step of the evaluation. For me, the next step in the evaluation process would be to meet with
the complaining officer s direct supervisors and

Freud s Interpretation Of Dreams Research Paper
Sigmund Freud was undoubtedly one of the most influential people in the development of thought
during the 20th century. His theory that our minds guard memories and emotions in our subconscious
transformed the way humans studied the human mind.
Freud said that throughout history there were three great humiliations. The discovery of Galileo that
we are not the center of the Universe. The discovery of Darwin, that we are not the crown of creation.
And his own discovery, that we do not control our own mind. One of Freud s most important
discoveries is that emotions buried in the subconscious surface rise to the conscious surface during
dreams and that remembering fragments of dreams can help to uncover buried emotions and
memories.
Throughout his well known work, The Interpretation of Dreams, Freud uses his own dreams as
examples to demonstrate his theory on the psychology of dreams. Freud distinguishes between the ...

Kant s Philosophy Of Philosophy
The eighteenth century German philosopher, tutor and professor, Immanuel Kant, contributed highly
complex deontological works of philosophy during the time of the Age of Enlightenment an era when
learned men in society urged others to live according to reason and individualism, rather than
continuing simply to follow tradition. This was a time for questioning, for employing scientific,
evidentiary knowledge where once there had been action only according to faith, to unsupported
beliefs. Kant s works aided in bringing important changes to the fields of epistemology and
metaphysics; changes most famously outlined in his work, Critique of Pure Reason (1781). This was
followed by: Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals (1785); Critique of Practical Reason (1788);
and Metaphysics of Morals (1798). Despite their importance in the philosophical canon, Kantian
ethics have the power to confound, imbued as they are with contradiction, and the flaws that
inevitably attach to human thinking and reasoning in context with experience. Kant believed in acting
from duty above all else, and that to do so in a moral fashion meant that one should act free of any self
interest or direct inclination for example, even if one were to feel so grief stricken as to wish for death,
one s duty would be to continue to live rather than taking one s life; but the action of continuing to live
would derive moral worth only from the choice to live for the sake of duty, and not because one had

Essay on A Feminist Journey through Beethoven s Musical...
A Feminist Journey through Beethoven s Musical Structure
Traditional analysis of Beethoven s use of Sonata Allegro form tends to focus on harmonic or melodic
movement and key relationships. This study stretches such investigations to include questions of
historical context and philosophic motivations that drive a composer to structure music in a certain
way. Ultimately this leads to an inquiry about how these traditions affect us as listeners, and more
specifically how they relate to gender issues in a musical tradition primarily made up of male
composers.
Music of the 1700s is often characterized as highly structured and balanced. A favorite form for pieces
of many kinds was the sonata form, which relies heavily on the basic ... Show more content on

Hadow says that Haydn and Mozart s use of the same melodic material for both the first and second
subject was indicative of their influence from binary form. But Beethoven, who was a much more
daring innovator, as well as a much greater master of structure, than either of his predecessors never
committed such an atrocity, since such a scheme would only help to stereotype an outworn and
obsolete form (61). The melodic material of the two themes makes up the exposition, melodic
expansion on those themes constitutes the development and a return to the themes makes up the
recapitulation. Ternary form s use of different melodic material allowed for variety while its strict key
relationships kept unity throughout.
Charles Rosen, on the other hand, sees harmonic rather than melodic material as central to sonata
analysis. He says that the fact is that while the placing, number, and character of the themes, at least
from Scarlatti to Beethoven, have in an importance which ought not to be underestimated, they are in
no sense the determining factors of the form (30). In fact, although Beethoven might not explicitly use
the existing first theme in the next key area, often the second theme is clearly a variant of the opening
theme (31). The key areas rather than the melodic themes can be seen as constituting a two part

Aldo Leopold Appreciating The Land Ethic Summary
Ethics Lab Aldo Leopold: Appreciating the Land Ethic
Please answer the following questions:
1. Please state the Land Ethic (quote directly): All ethics so far evolved rest upon a single premise that
the individual is a member of a community of interdependent parts. His instincts prompt him to
compete for his place in that community, but his ethics prompt him also to co operate (perhaps in
order that there may be a place to compete for). The land ethic simply enlarges the boundaries of the
community to include soils, waters, plants, and animals, or collectively: the land. Aldo Leopold

I think widespread adoption of the Land ethic would be possible because we continually come up with
new technologies and farming methods that have less impact on the earth and are sustainable. Some of
the consequences would be the widespread abandonment of fossil fuels, a surge in recycling materials,
widespread use of farming techniques that fight erosion and use little pesticide, and, an overall change
in our current wasteful consumption patterns. Even though it would be possible to adopt the Land
Ethic I could see it being difficult because the majority of people in western cultures would have to
change their lifestyles dramatically to be in line with the Land Ethic.

The Tragic Hero Of Shakespeare s Hamlet
[insert introduction here] Macbeth and Hamlet are both tragic heroes whose fall from greatness
disturbs the order of their kingdoms.
A tragic hero is a character, one of high esteem, whose internal imperfection leads to their downfall.
Both Macbeth and Hamlet are well known and of high social class when an unexpected calamity hits.
Hamlet, the son of the king of Denmark, is a charismatic prince most immediate to [the] throne
(Shakespeare, Ham I.ii.109). It can be inferred that he lives a rather extravagant and convenient
lifestyle. That is, until his father dies and his uncle takes both the throne and Hamlet s mother as wife.

His reaction upon learning this fate is twofold: Macbeth can wait patiently for legitimate royalty, or he
can give into his black and deep desires, and steal the throne from Duncan (X). Hamlet s fate, on the

what killed them, but rather their tragic flaws. While Macbeth ultimately succumbs to his unchecked
ambition and rashly murders any potential and unlikely threat to the throne, Hamlet procrastinates and
fails to fulfill his revenge in a timely, simplistic manner. Because of his uncontrolled ambition,
Macbeth blindly trusts the witches who promise inviolable royalty, murders his closest friend, and
kills the family of his nemesis. Hamlet, on the other hand, weary of the legitimacy of the supernatural,
puts on an antic disposition and delays his revenge as he searches for confirmation of the ghost s
accusations (x). Hamlet s procrastination causes him to miss multiple opportunities at revenge. For
example, he chooses not to kill a vulnerable, praying Claudius (x). In this way, Macbeth and Hamlet
fall victim to their own actions. Had Macbeth been satisfied with just his throne, he would not have

It helps people understand why language is important, why we shouldn t end a sentence with a preposition and why/how different dialects can be helpful to know throughout a person s life. Throughout the article DFW uses harshness, wittiness, empathy, sympathy and some bold words to affectively get his points a crossed to the reader. In Harpers article DFW speaks about how important it is to speak multiple dialects. SWE and SBE are two of the most common dialects. SWE is the abbreviations for Standard Written English, and SBW stands for Standard Black English. Most successful people use standard written English such as politicians, lawyers, and news reporters. In schools teachers drill it into the student s head that SWE is the correct dialect and that any pother that they use is wrong. In this article DFW stresses the importance of being able to use different dialects in different situations. He then begins describing the scene of someone who is just getting their paper handed back to them, but when they look at it the teacher has corrected their paper so that it is in proper SWE format. Even his abstinence from finishing him completely (103) shows that Heathcliff has completely removed all of Hindley s influence from Thrushcross Grange. He doesn t need to physically kill him, because he has effectively cut off any influence Hindley once had over Thrushcross Grange, and reduced him to virtually nothing. Though Heathcliff has taken everything but Hindley s life, he doesn t stop there. Once Hindley dies, Heathcliff becomes ...the master of Wuthering Heights: he held firm possession, and proved to the attorney who, in his turn, proved it to Mr. Linton that Earnshaw had mortgaged every yard of land he owned for cash to supply his mania for gaming; and he, Heathcliff, was the mortgagee ... In most of Marlowe s plays there is a central issue to which all subsidiary issue are related. In Tamburlaine the central issue of the play is an idea. The representative of this idea is the hero himself round whom the whole action and all the other characters revolve. The characters of the plays written before Marlowe s time gave the impression that they would take every opportunity for turning a given situation into an occasion for long and lively declamation and the delivery of set speech. Yet, for Tamburlaine, the set speech is a condition of his existence. This means that in what Tamburlaine is concerned there is a close relationship between the speaker and his speeches. The author s work is known for its explorations of human nature and illustrates the nature of materialism (Jones). Throughout life, we are constantly developing who we are as people. As we grow, we grasp hold of things we wish to portray ourselves with. In doing so, we create ourselves as humans. In this philosophy that has been developed, we base how we are raised in order to develop who we become in the long run. Over time, we receive knowledge pertaining to who we wish to become. In the story story The Rocking Horse Winner written by D. H. Lawrence, we are taken to a questionable development of humans in an equally disturbing adventure. In this short story, there are many messages that can be traced throughout. In The Rocking Horse Winner by D. H. Lawrence, an immense amount of attention is poured towards the focus of money. Today, who someone is depends drastically upon the amount of money they have. Sadly, money determines who you are before you even realize it. The same idea is developed into this story. An essay says, While his father is a hard worker, he does not bring in enough money to satisfy the expensive tastes of the latter s wife. Because of this, Paul s mother resents her husband and makes it clear that she wants more monetary benefits out of life (Pierce). Although she may not realize it, Paul s mother is beginning to demand so much of her husband that it not only wears out her husband, but continually rubs off onto Paul. Paul becomes so bothered by the thought that his family has little to none money, and his only desire is to change that feeling for his family. He begins to realize that he wants nothing but money for his family so they can experience life in such a way that they are able to enjoy what they have and obtain more. As Paul is growing up amid such an issue, he begins to realize that no matter what he is doing, he is constantly being reminded that his family is destitute. The reading brings up how Scottie s transformations of Judy is reflective of the transformation of stars, specifically highlighting male dominance. However, Lynch takes a different approach in which he rejects the Hollywood obsession with masculinity just as he rejects linear formatting. Lynch takes a similar approach to creating a film on the premise of disillusionment, but he tries to modernize the story in ways that add to the complexity while being more overtly explicit then Hitchcock could have been during his time. One quote from Shetley s analysis which really made sense in explaining this film to me is when he says: [a]s much as her lesbian inclination, movie love is a forbidden desire that keeps Diane on the outside of Hollywood, where no one who genuinely loves movies gets to make them, where only those who instrumentalize both women and movies are allowed access. Here Shetley is saying that Lynch is perhaps reflecting on his experiences in Hollywood and conveys this truth by showing Diane s harsh reality. This character of Diane is so tormented by her love for Camilla and her desire to be a successful actress that it pushes her to the extremes, causing her to orchestrate Camilla s death before eventually taking her own life after enduring horrific hallucinations of actors from her fantasy ... • 26. The Importance Of Job Related Stress Among Police Officers As a police commander or administrator, addressing the concerns of the officers in your employ, is one of the most important duties that you have. This is especially true when addressing the issues of job related stress. Studies have shown that many police officers perceive the most stress, which they experience, originates from within the department. The studies have also shown that job related stress is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease in police officers (Vicini, 2013). With these thoughts in mind, it is imperative for police administrators to have a plan of action in place, to evaluate and validate the concerns of the officers, and to provide the most effective practices to reduce this stress. As an administrator, who officers had confided their concerns to, the first thing that I would need to do would be to evaluate the validity of the officers claims about the stressors which they are dealing with. The first step of this process would be to meet with the officers, in a one on one setting, so that I could evaluate their appearance, mood, level of agitation, and their sincerity concerning the issues which they are bringing forward. This meeting would be a way of showing the officers that I am truly concerned with heir issues, and their wellbeing. Once I have met with the officers, I would move to the next step of the evaluation. For me, the next step in the evaluation process would be to meet with the complaining officer s direct supervisors and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Freud s Interpretation Of Dreams Research Paper Sigmund Freud was undoubtedly one of the most influential people in the development of thought during the 20th century. His theory that our minds guard memories and emotions in our subconscious transformed the way humans studied the human mind. Freud said that throughout history there were three great humiliations. The discovery of Galileo that we are not the center of the Universe. The discovery of Darwin, that we are not the crown of creation. And his own discovery, that we do not control our own mind. One of Freud s most important discoveries is that emotions buried in the subconscious surface rise to the conscious surface during dreams and that remembering fragments of dreams can help to uncover buried emotions and memories. • 31. Kant s Philosophy Of Philosophy The eighteenth century German philosopher, tutor and professor, Immanuel Kant, contributed highly complex deontological works of philosophy during the time of the Age of Enlightenment an era when learned men in society urged others to live according to reason and individualism, rather than continuing simply to follow tradition. This was a time for questioning, for employing scientific, evidentiary knowledge where once there had been action only according to faith, to unsupported beliefs. Kant s works aided in bringing important changes to the fields of epistemology and metaphysics; changes most famously outlined in his work, Critique of Pure Reason (1781). This was followed by: Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals (1785); Critique of Practical Reason (1788); and Metaphysics of Morals (1798). Despite their importance in the philosophical canon, Kantian ethics have the power to confound, imbued as they are with contradiction, and the flaws that inevitably attach to human thinking and reasoning in context with experience. Kant believed in acting from duty above all else, and that to do so in a moral fashion meant that one should act free of any self interest or direct inclination for example, even if one were to feel so grief stricken as to wish for death, one s duty would be to continue to live rather than taking one s life; but the action of continuing to live would derive moral worth only from the choice to live for the sake of duty, and not because one had any ... • 34. Essay on A Feminist Journey through Beethoven s Musical... A Feminist Journey through Beethoven s Musical Structure Traditional analysis of Beethoven s use of Sonata Allegro form tends to focus on harmonic or melodic movement and key relationships. This study stretches such investigations to include questions of historical context and philosophic motivations that drive a composer to structure music in a certain way. Ultimately this leads to an inquiry about how these traditions affect us as listeners, and more specifically how they relate to gender issues in a musical tradition primarily made up of male composers. Music of the 1700s is often characterized as highly structured and balanced. A favorite form for pieces of many kinds was the sonata form, which relies heavily on the basic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hadow says that Haydn and Mozart s use of the same melodic material for both the first and second subject was indicative of their influence from binary form. But Beethoven, who was a much more daring innovator, as well as a much greater master of structure, than either of his predecessors never committed such an atrocity, since such a scheme would only help to stereotype an outworn and obsolete form (61). The melodic material of the two themes makes up the exposition, melodic expansion on those themes constitutes the development and a return to the themes makes up the recapitulation. Ternary form s use of different melodic material allowed for variety while its strict key relationships kept unity throughout. Charles Rosen, on the other hand, sees harmonic rather than melodic material as central to sonata analysis. He says that the fact is that while the placing, number, and character of the themes, at least from Scarlatti to Beethoven, have in an importance which ought not to be underestimated, they are in no sense the determining factors of the form (30). In fact, although Beethoven might not explicitly use the existing first theme in the next key area, often the second theme is clearly a variant of the opening theme (31). The key areas rather than the melodic themes can be seen as constituting a two part ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Please state the Land Ethic (quote directly): All ethics so far evolved rest upon a single premise that the individual is a member of a community of interdependent parts. His instincts prompt him to compete for his place in that community, but his ethics prompt him also to co operate (perhaps in order that there may be a place to compete for). The land ethic simply enlarges the boundaries of the community to include soils, waters, plants, and animals, or collectively: the land. Aldo Leopold 2. Hamlet, the son of the king of Denmark, is a charismatic prince most immediate to [the] throne (Shakespeare, Ham I.ii.109). His reaction upon learning this fate is twofold: Macbeth can wait patiently for legitimate royalty, or he can give into his black and deep desires, and steal the throne from Duncan (X). Hamlet s fate, on the other hand, is to set right the murder of his father(x). It both cases, neither of the characters fates are what killed them, but rather their tragic flaws. While Macbeth ultimately succumbs to his unchecked ambition and rashly murders any potential and unlikely threat to the throne, Hamlet procrastinates and fails to fulfill his revenge in a timely, simplistic manner. Because of his uncontrolled ambition, Macbeth blindly trusts the witches who promise inviolable royalty, murders his closest friend, and kills the family of his nemesis. Hamlet, on the other hand, weary of the legitimacy of the supernatural, puts on an antic disposition and delays his revenge as he searches for confirmation of the ghost s accusations (x). Hamlet s procrastination causes him to miss multiple opportunities at revenge. For example, he chooses not to kill a vulnerable, praying Claudius (x).
