Hyper-V overview and building test network - harold.wongHarold Wong
Hyper-V is a virtualization platform that allows for running virtual machines on a host machine. It uses virtual hard disks (VHDs) to store operating systems and applications in single files. Disk2vhd is a free tool that can capture physical machines to VHD files. VHDs can be dynamically expanding, fixed size, or differencing. Snapshots provide point-in-time backups of VHDs. Building a test environment with Hyper-V, VHDs, and snapshots makes it easy to test different operating system and application configurations.
Hyper-V is Microsoft's server virtualization technology that is included with Windows Server 2008. It allows multiple virtual machines to run on a single physical machine. Key capabilities of Hyper-V include support for large memory virtual machines up to 64GB, live migration of virtual machines between physical servers, and integration with the Windows hypervisor for security and isolation of virtual machines. System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 provides centralized management of virtualized and physical infrastructure across Hyper-V, Virtual Server and VMware environments.
I denne sesjonen forklarer Morgan hva VDI (Virtual desktop infrastructure) er og sammenligner det med andre desktop-strategier. Han gir deg også råd og anbefalinger om hvilke strategier man bør velge. Bli med for en innføring i VDI!
Remote PCs provide benefits over traditional distributed desktop computing by centralizing desktops in the data center. This allows for improved security since user data resides behind the firewall. It also improves manageability since desktop images only need to be managed in one location rather than on individual PCs. Remote PC implementations can take the form of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) where each user is assigned a virtual machine, or blade PCs which are dedicated physical machines located in the data center. Protocols like RDP, ICA and RGS are used to transmit the desktop experience from the centralized computing resources to users' local access devices. Remote PCs can provide significant cost savings through better utilization of resources and lower management costs compared to traditional distributed desktop
This document provides an update on desktop virtualization. It discusses how desktops are transforming from device-centric to people-centric models. XenDesktop with FlexCast is highlighted as providing a revolutionary virtual desktop system. Updates are provided on new features for HDX technologies, including improvements to media streaming, real-time communications, graphics capabilities, and plug-and-play support. The future of continued enhancements to the user experience is also briefly discussed.
Dynamic Data Center for Hosters, by Stefan SimonAlexey Kovyazin
The document discusses Dynamic Data Center (DDC), an industry term for a virtualized and automated infrastructure that provides real-time provisioning, high availability, unlimited capacity, and self-healing capabilities. Enterprise Mobility Suite- Azure AD PremiumLai Yoong Seng
The document discusses enterprise mobility suite (EMS) and its hybrid identity capabilities. EMS provides single sign-on, self-service experiences, and a common identity across cloud and on-premises applications. It enables a unified user experience with a single verified identity that spans both environments. EMS reduces the burden on IT by integrating identity management and lowering risks through a single solution rather than separate cloud and on-premises identities.
Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) provides tools for hybrid identity, mobile device and application management, and access and information protection to address challenges organizations face as the number of employees using personal devices for work and accessing applications remotely increases. EMS takes a people-centric approach to unify an organization's environment by protecting data, enabling users on any device with a hybrid identity, and managing both mobile devices and applications from a single portal.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup.
Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.
The presentation aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of AI usage in XML development, providing attendees with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. Whether you’re at the early stages of adopting AI or considering integrating it in advanced XML development, this presentation will cover all levels of expertise.
By highlighting the potential advantages and challenges of integrating AI with XML development tools and languages, the presentation seeks to inspire thoughtful conversation around the future of XML development. We’ll not only delve into the technical aspects of AI-powered XML development but also discuss practical implications and possible future directions.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
