Analysis Of The Book Ordinary People By Judith Guest
Lauren Lee
Mrs, Stob Cycle of Life
Per:1
Young people live life by the day. The process of self discovery begins as a teenager. For some, this
could take years. For others, it could happen quickly. Sometimes hardship leads people towards self
discovery. In the book Ordinary People, by Judith Guest, Conrad struggles with his identity; in the
past, Conrad was never able to do anything without his brother s influence. Once his brother drowns,
Conrad feels lost without him. In the beginning, middle and end of the book, Conrad goes through the
stages of grief, and through this process, Conrad discovers his identity. The stages of grief are
demonstrated in Conrad s relationships with his family and friends. Conrad has experienced
depression and a suicide attempt in response to his brother s death. At the beginning of the book,
Conrad is going through the first stage of grief, which is shock and denial. Conrad s father, Cal,
worries about Conrad s mental health and gives him the name of a therapist. However, Conrad does
not call him. Cal believes that Conrad, ought to stick with the plan (13) However, Conrad can t
[because he] is swimming every night...[He doesn t] need to see anybody. [He] feels fine (13). Conrad
is uncomfortable talking about the death, and seeing a therapist would require him to talk. Conrad is
afraid to feel his emotions. He thinks if he just avoids thinking about his brother s death, he will be
okay. The second

Benefits And Benefits Of Social Security
In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after
Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security
fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting
benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. Hence it would not be fair if benefits are
granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who
abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans
that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating
fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security
benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are
disabled. Also, hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including
employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no
contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. Furthermore, Social Security
needs to reach out to the majority which is the poverty stricken. By informing the impecunious or
immigrants of Social Security it could save them from the misfortune of poverty. Even though, Social
Security relieves some citizens from a financial burden there are still many improvements to be

How Did Religion Influence Ancient Egypt
The geographical location and the surrounding environment of Egypt heavily influenced the people of
Ancient Egypt s spiritual life and their religious belief in a multitude of ways. A central part of the
environment that contributed to Egyptian spiritual life and religious beliefs is the Nile River, a
foundation of their cosmology. Their religious belief stems from the myth of Ra, the sun god. The
belief is at the beginning of time the Nile brought a mound of silt where Ra, the highest deity among
the Egyptian gods. From Ra, the other gods emerged. The Nile River, to the Ancient Egyptians,
symbolized rebirth and renewal. The Nile also represented the belief in life after death. The story of
Osiris is directly connected to the Nile River, and the resurrection after death. Osiris, the god of the
underworld, was killed by his brother Set and his body was cut into small pieces and thrown into the
Nile. Osiris wife, Isis, collected the pieces of his body and put him back together. This myth
contributed to the belief in life after death, which in turn would influence many more aspects of their
lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their cosmology states that the world was a platter floating in the underworld until the Nile s first
water produced dirt in which Ra emerged, and he created the other gods. The belief that the world was
a floating platter could have stemmed from Egypt s geography. The people of Ancient Egypt viewed
the sun setting and rising as a reminder of death and the promise of life after death. The animals found
in the environment around Egypt influenced the way their gods were depicted throughout their art and
literature. The gods were represented as human figures with certain aspects of their body being
depicted as an animal. For example, the highest deity, Ra was depicted as a falcon with sun

Journey Of The Magi Thesis
THESIS AND OUTLINE OF
Journey of the Magi
Outline:
I. Explain the Eliot s background
II. Introduce the poem Journey of the Magi
III. Thesis Statement: The poem, Journey of the Magi, has many different hidden meanings, but all
have a parallel connection to the Christian faith and Eliot s journey into the Christian faith.
Essay of the poem
Journey of the Magi
Thomas Stearns Eliot, known as a poet. Eliot was born in America and later moved to the United
Kingdom. He settled and became a British citizen and attended his Harvard University, Merton
College, and Oxford. Eliot s poem Journey of the Magi is a poem written about the story of the Magi,
which refers to the three king s men who traveled to Bethlehem to see the birth of baby Jesus. Eliot s
poem reverences to the story that is told in Matthew 2:1 12. He wrote this poem the same time he
converted into Christianity. The poem, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During their journey they had encountered many hardships and sufferings. During the poem you start
thinking the Magi starts losing or has lost all hope. The poem refers to things they had endured and
would like to change. Like palaces on slopes, terraces, and girls bringing them sherbet, which all these
things are representing the loss of accommodations. The camel men became unreliable because of the
sinful ways of wanting liquor and women.
In the poem the Magi meets unfriendly people in the town charging high prices, which they had to
keep moving on throughout the night. When they arrive down to a Temperate Valley; the poem was
referring to arriving in Bethlehem. During the poem the Magi went from feeling defeated to feeling
accomplished and reaching their goal and offering their gifts to Christ. Beating the darkness refers to
the Magi never giving up and overcoming their challenges they had encountered during the

Thomas Edison And The Light Bulb Essay
Everyone in their lifetime has heard the name Thomas Edison at least once. However, if you asked
those same people why Thomas Edison was so famous, ninety percent of the time they would tell you
it was because he invented the light bulb, and each of them would be completely wrong. Thomas
Edison did not invent the light bulb; in fact, someone had the idea for it almost one hundred years
before Mr. Edison was even born. To invent something means to come up with the idea in the first
place, as well as to actually carry it out.
In this paper I will give you insights into the life of Thomas Edison and explain why people get
confused in thinking the light bulb was his idea. He also had several other interesting experiments, and
we will take a look at what people thought of them. I believe Thomas Edison is one of the greatest
minds that have ever existed on planet earth, and the rest of this paper will be devoted to showing you
why this is true.
If one stopped and thought about all the amazing and wonderful inventions that this world has ever
seen, what would be number one on that list? Most people in today s world would probably say items
that they use on a daily basis. If we made a list of what some people might say, it might include such
things as automobiles, their new iPhone, advancements in medicine, heaters, air conditioning, power
tools, gaming systems, IPods, etc., and the list could go on and on.
Though we could list thousands of inventions that have been truly

Compare and Contrast Two Works of Art
Anthony Arteaga
Art History Ancient World
Homework Assignment #1
Compare and contrast the subject, concept, and the Formal Element of the two works of art. Also,
explain which category this work falls in. The two pieces I have chosen can be found on page 200,
figure 6 51, Battle of Centaurs and Wild Beasts from Hadrian s Villa and on page 434, figure 14 8,
Battle of the Bird and Serpent. Not only did I choose these pieces for their beauty, but also because
both works have similar yet different subjects, concepts, and formal elements. Both of these images
have subject matter that is the same even though they re different.
The subjects for the Battle of Centaurs and Wild Beasts from Hadrian s Villa are animals; centaurs

Also, the shapes in the background are fuzzier and assumed in piece one where the shapes in piece
two are sharper and more defined. Another formal element is texture. The first piece, according to the
text, is a floor mosaic which is composed of many colored tesserae that were laid down in irregular,
curving lines, which effectively imitated painted brushstrokes. The individual tiles are more apparent
when viewed closely. This gives the piece a grainy and earthy texture, where it physically looks
bumpy. The textbook says it has foreshortening, the illusion created on a flat surface in which figures
and objects appear to recede or project sharply into space. The second piece was drawn with tempera
on parchment. This makes the piece look smooth, flat, and two dimensional. The next element is color.
The hues in both pieces are relatively earth toned. Both pieces have a low level of saturation. In piece
one, the sky is mustard brown with a section of mint green that frames the boulder that the male
centaur is holding. The rocky scenery has browns and creams with a dull green and brown center. A
bright green patch of pine trees is in the corner that contrasts with the sky and rocks. The colors to the
second piece are similar in the sense that it has low saturation. The colors are dull and warm. This
piece utilizes reds and oranges, in the serpent, that the first piece does not. Because of the tan

Paper On Conflict Theory
Conflict Theory is a social and economic factor. It is seen as inequality in gender, race, crime and
wealth. Conflict Theory was developed by the theorist Karl Marx, who believed that conflict theory is
split into two groups: the wealthy and the poor. Marx labels the wealthy as those who control and the
poor are labeled as those who are controlled by the government, law or other authority.
Conflict theory means you are labeled based on who you are. Karl Marx states that someone will be
labeled based on the social class they belong to. He also states that the society that you belong to gives
you the power in making laws. Those who are not privileged, are poor or are in a lower social class
suffer the consequences of being treated differently. Gender as defined by conflict theory implies that
men manipulate the power and privileges given to women. Conflict theorist argue that the only reason
these roles are persists is because the dominate group naturally works to maintain their power and
status (Boundless.com). In many cultures men have control over power and wealth and the woman is
forced to depend on man. That is why gender has caused conflict ... Show more content on

Those that have the social, political, and economic power maintain their positions over subordinate
groups (law.jronk.com). The dominant group are those that are white, wealthy and are in politics. The
other group subordinate are minorities groups. The group subordinate is the poor and are neglected by
politics. Whites think they are more superior than anyone else. They think that only whites should be
allowed to have power. They also think they should be wealthier than any other group. Racism still
exists. In news reports and other media outlets we see more violent acts based on race towards one
group more than towards the other group. The dominant group thinks that they have control of the
subordinate groups just because of the subordinate group s social

Analysis Of A Dead Man s Pockets, And Ambush
1234Literary Analysis Collection 1 Are you ready to analyze three stories? Yes? Awesome! No? Too
bad, because here we go! The three stories in question are The Leap, The Contents of a Dead Man s
Pockets, and Ambush. The authors of these stories use aspects of their stories to shape the plot, show
the theme, and to change the views of the characters in the stories. The first literary element used in
the stories to form the plot, was the setting. In the story Ambush, the narrator is crouching in bushes
alongside a dirt path that is shrouded in fog and mist. The narrator remarks when telling this story that,
The mosquitoes were fierce. I remember slapping at them, wondering if I should wake up Kiowa and
ask for some repellent, then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boat that the characters are in, is small and causes a lot of tension between the characters. Like the
other passengers, Murad looks on, stunned. They expected to be taken all the way to the shore, where
they could easily disperse and then hide. The idea of having to swim the rest of the way is intolerable,
especially for those who are not natives of Tangier and accustomed to its waters... Someone makes an
abrupt movement to reason with Rahal, to force him to go all the way to shore, but the Zodiac loses
balance and then it s too late. This tension causes the boat to eventually flip, which changes the
outcome of the story and plot. In these three stories, the authors use the setting of the story to shape
and alter the plot in multiple ways. The writers also used the conflicts of the stories to further the plot
and to change the character s opinions and views. The conflict of Ambush, the narrator throwing a
grenade at an unknown man, resulted in the narrator changing the way he acted in the future. Even
now I haven t finished sorting it out. Sometimes I forgive myself, other times I don t. In the ordinary
hours of life I try not to dwell on it, but now and then, when I m reading a newspaper or just sitting
alone in a room, I ll look up and see the young man coming out of the morning fog. The conflict of the
story continues to impact the narrator s life, even many years after it happened. In Contents of a Dead
Man s Pockets, the protagonist is changed

Photography As The Technical Side Of Photography
Photography was only an idea before it became something tangible and memorable. 100 Ideas That
Change Photography was written by Mary Warner Marien in 2011 and it is aim to help and remind
people about both the artistic photography as well as the technical side of photography. This book
thoroughly explains how does photography evolve throughout time and it gathers information on the
most influential ideas that shaped photography from the early 19th century up to digital revolution and
beyond it.
Aesthetics
What is aesthetics? Aesthetics is a set of principles concerned with the nature and appreciation of
beauty, especially in art. Many stated that photo as an art made by a camera, but if photo is an
objective rendering of what the camera sees and then say the photographer is merely a machine
operator, how can you say that the camerawork as an artwork if the operator knows nothing about
aesthetics value? Meaning here, all photographers need to know and learn what is aesthetics value in
order to not just be a machine operator but to be someone who knows all the principles, basic
understanding of what is camerawork, and good in interpreting as well as applying aesthetics
principle. Photography was invented during the time when art academies and public intellectuals were
taught a hands on theories and technique and at the same time strengthening the field of fine arts. In
the nineteenth century, numerous critics scrutinised the daguerreotype image were in favor to not think

Abstract This paper will discuss some of the forms of violence that occurs following disasters. Natural
and man made disasters may result in significant devastation, causing a total collapse of the affecting
community, the law enforcement that oversees the community, availability of health care, the
displacement of people; all are contributing factors to potential violence. The resulting impact of the
affected community is significantly compounded on the most vulnerable. Emergency personnel from

The amount of anxiety and stress increases dramatically on a community following a natural or man
made disaster. Although disasters aren t directly responsible for violence both in the short and long
term after a disaster occurs, but they do contribute to the mental distress of those impacted by the
disaster. This mental distress is a direct result of the challenges that exist for the affected population in
meeting their daily essential needs. The lack of essential needs is compounded by the lack of available
health care as well as emergency services, resulting in a breeding ground for potential violence.
Planning for and taking new approaches towards mitigating violence after disasters should focus
primarily on ensuring assistance to the affected community is available, while ensuring the fluidity of

Significant Events that Shaped America between 1940 and 1980
From 1940 to 1980 there were many significant events that shaped America. Events in history are not
defined by how they actually happened but how they were interpreted. Be it by the people of that land
or other lands looking in. In what ways do people receive the important news? News comes through
media outlets such as radio, newspaper and television. Americans especially tend to take things at face
value. This information must be true, I read it in a newspaper. In 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor
and in the coming weeks thanks to newspaper, men and underage boys were lined up in a fury ready to
serve their country and the United States declares war on Japan. In the same year Hitler declares war
on the United States. The United States drops the Atomic bomb and Japan surrenders.
It was not possible to call up a loved one off at war to catch up. In 1948 there was the Berlin Airlift,
and 1949 NATO was established. In 1950 the McCarthy Hearings begin and are wildly popular on
almost every radio station. In 1954 Brown v.Board of Education is decided and the Civil Rights
movement begins to cause a stir in the early 60s. The Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy is assassinated,
race riots, Tet offensive, the end o the Vietnam War, Watergate. All newsworthy events, each rich with
detail and the only way the American public knew what was going on half way around the world was
daily broadcasts in the paper and on the radio.

modern medicines are available to treat the oxidative stress and immunesenescence; which are costly

Blood Glucose Viscosity Levels Of Non Diabetics And Diabetics
Blood Glucose Absorbance Levels of Non Diabetics and Diabetics Over 120 Minutes After Food
Consumption
Alexis Lester
BSC 120 113
October 27, 2015
Dr. Welch
Abstract Individuals with diabetes are affected by elevated blood glucose levels in the bloodstream
due to inefficient glucose uptake by cells. Blood glucose levels are influenced by many things,
especially meals and their glucose content. Therefore, if diabetics cannot correctly regulate their blood
glucose levels, particularly after meals, then their readings will be higher than non diabetic levels. In
the experiment, the absorbance of simulated blood glucose levels of both diabetic and non diabetic
people in 120 minutes following a meal was measured using a spectrophotometer. The blood glucose
levels of diabetics were higher than that of non diabetics throughout the entire course of 120 minutes,
including at peak levels occurring at 60 minutes. The cause of this was a greater abundance of
molecules in the highly concentrated diabetic solutions, which were ready to absorb more light. This
demonstrates the ineffectiveness of diabetic metabolic pathways for utilizing glucose compared to that
of non diabetics. This research can be taken further to analyze how different types of food influence
blood glucose levels.

Wesley, and his determination to go through all the physical test to meet standards of the fraternity.
His whole intention throughout the movie was to prove that he could become more than what he
always has considered himself, which is below average. When Wesley was in training he got beat up
by multiple people in the fraternity, in an attempt to make him physically strong to stand anything. He
learned tasks including fighting, knife work, and also how to curve a bullet. When he was learning to

hesitant as he was he knew he had to have confidence in himself to complete the task. As he shoots
around Fox, not knowing if the bullet would hit her, he takes his shot and hits the correct target. Sloan

Explain Why Some Working At Home Are More Productive Than...
91 Percent of People Who Work at Home Are More Productive Than at Work When the idea of
working remotely comes up in a conversation, I find that people tend to respond in one of two ways:
total dread or utter delight. Some professionals recall the risks and difficulties of working away from
the office, while others rave about having the flexibility to create their own schedule and work
environment. Regardless of how you work best and where you personally stand on the topic, it s worth
considering the benefits of offering remote working opportunities to your team and organization. With
clear expectations and guidelines in place, remote working can bolster productivity and build trust
within your team. In fact, in a 2016 survey of American remote workers, 91 percent of people who
work remotely revealed that they re more productive than when they re in an office. In some ways,
remote working is similar to having teams in different locations or spread across various parts of the
country. However, establishing telecommuting protocol isn t always intuitive and the practice has yet

Examples Of Jewish Resistance
Jews Fight Back Resistance is the refusal to accept or comply with something ( Dictionary ). The
Holocaust occurred between 1939 and 1945 in Germany (history.com). It was a period of time during
WWII where the jewish population were forced to follow and obey the Nazi s which meant being sent
to concentration camps and later extermination camps in order to achieve racial purity . This was
called the Final Solution . Countless of Jews resisted during this time hoping to stop the cruelty and
torture. During the Holocaust, Jews used armed and unarmed forms of resistance in order to retain
their humanity. Armed resistance was a way for the Jewish people to stand up for themselves. An
example of this type of resistance, is when the Jews attacked the Germans with homemade and
smuggled weapons. As stated in the Jewish resistance article, as German SS and police units entered

differently, but there are some pros and cons that have an effect on everyone.
There are some short term negative effects that come with abusing the substance. Side effects include
less coordination , skin rashes, dry mouth, fatigue, blurred vision , distrust, depression, suicidal
thoughts, and memory loss. Overdose on marijuana causes anxiety and panic (Tracy;Watson).
Three of the most common short term side effects are headaches, paranoia, and allergy.
The headache might be caused by the rolling papers having irritating chemicals, and residual
fertilizers that are used on the marijuana plant. The paranoia comes from smoking way too often. It

Learned Helplessness Study
If you do not feel like you are in command of your destiny, then chances are you will give up and
come into acceptance of whatever situation you may be in (McRaney, 2009). Learned Helplessness is
the feeling of being unable to avoid negative experiences because the past has taught them that they
are not in control. The study of learned helplessness was first experimented on dogs, and later it was
realized that it had the same effects and impacts on humans. Past research suggests that learned
helpless subjects are likely to make internal, stable, and global causal explanations for unfavorable
outcomes, and external, unstable, and specific ones for favorable outcomes (Hansen Thomsen, 2013,
p. 1010). This first study was designed by Martin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study will consist of three participants in which each will take an anagram test with the given time
of 30 seconds. Of the three anagrams test, one is easy, moderate and hard. The independent variable in
this experiment is the difficulty of the task, which is the three levels; easy, moderate, and hard.
Another independent variable to consider may be the gender being two levels, male and female. The
dependent variables in the study are whether the third word is completed and the time it takes each
person to complete the anagram test. Once each participant completed their anagram, he or she moved
on to completing the a questionnaire that includes four additional dependent variables in the
experiment how easy the task was to the participant personally, how easy they think it was for others,
the level of frustration present, and whether they think it can be done within 30

Ready Player One Thesis
Released in 2011, Ready Player One is ann interesting read about a young man struggling with the
fictional state of the world in the year 2044. The world is starving for resources, and the remaining
resources are slowly dwindling. Jobs are scarce in the real world, and the land between cities is barren
and desolate. Travelling between cities is dangerous, because there are gangs and raiders that attack
helpless travelers. The world is a unfriendly and harsh place, and most tend to avoid it. The majority
of the human race in this novel spend their time in a virtual reality device, called the OASIS. The
OASIS is a virtual reality software that uses a helmet and gloves, called a visor and haptic gloves, to
interact with the environment within the generated worlds. There is a main server that is divided into
27 sectors, similar to a Rubix Cube in shape, with sector 1 being the starting zone when you first log
in. Inside these sectors are a few hundred planets, which range from recreations of locations, to
completely fictional worlds. For the poor, an OASIS system is a godsend because it allows the poor to
escape their reality, and jump into another. For the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this isn t a simple task, as represented by the 5 years that lacked any discovery of the first

latin lesson being taught gave him a vital clue. The word Ludus, the name of the planet that he was

How do both The Stranger by Albert Camus and A Doll’s...
From the very first line of Albert Camus The Stranger, Maman died today, (Camus 3) the quirky
character of Meursault is shown to be different. The same holds true with Henrik Ibsen s classic play,
A Doll s House, concerning Nora, a mother who abandons her family in order to pursue her own
happiness. Both characters, while set in opposing societies, exhibit similar characteristics: a
courageous, if not reckless, pursuit of happiness, be it physical in the case of Meursault or mental for
Nora, and the relentless disregard of social standards and norms in the chase for free will. Both Ibsen
and Camus use the pervading theme of free will to evolve the characters of Nora and Meursault,
specifically incorporating ideas such as existentialism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nora, unlike Meursault, is contained by a mental block, a societal influence that dresses her, feeds her,
makes her dance the Tarantula, and ultimately loathe her place in the literal Dolls house. Nora, called
many pet names such as a little spend thrift (Ibsen 2), a squirrel (2), and her husband, Torvald s little
songbird (25), faces constant reminders of her oppression. Like Meursault, Nora yearns for the all
encompassing feeling of free will, and once she gets a taste, the ache becomes a severe painful longing
until, as Torvald accurately predicts, she dances as if [her] life depended on it (48).
Both Nora and Meursault act outrageously in the viewpoint of their communities in the quest for free
will. As Torvald s wife, Nora is expected to keep the house beautifully and have everything just as
Torvald likes it! (13). However, after experiencing the freedom and power that her financial deal with
Krogstad gives her, Nora finds the dollhouse she once found solace in confining and suffocating.
Following the unraveling of her secret business transaction and the turn of unexpected events, Nora
finally plucks up the courage to take life for herself, leaving her home, husband, and children in her
wake. While Nora s society degrades strong women for not being obedient wives, Nora forsakes the
comfort in social norms to determine her own future and capture the remaining strings of free will that

The Scopes Trial Was Caused By Political Factors
Can you imagine not learning how to multiply or divide or anything else that you find necessary to
help you succeed in school? Then maybe you can visualize living in the state of Tennessee, where
public schools could not teach Darwin s Theory of Evolution. It all started when the teachers Butler
Act was passed, it banned the teaching of the Evolution. Most people were indignant because of how
the law favored those who acclaimed the bible. The conviction of John Scopes in the Scopes Trial was
caused by political factors like the laws passed and the trial itself, the geographic factors such as the
location also known as the Bible Belt and lastly the primary factor is social factors, such as religious
beliefs.
Politics influenced the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mistake had not been that Scopes was guilty because of the judges preference over the
prosecution, but it was that Scopes has been over fined. While many resented the law, the government
did not withdraw the law, Despite its far reaching implications, public universities ignored the bill, and
the Governor, whom some expected would veto it, signed it into law...He understood it for what it
was, a symbolic protest against the undarmining of religion by science, (The Scopes). This shows that
even though many people did not like the law because of its relation to Christianity the like remained.
The Governor did not sign the law for the purpose to better the state, but because he did not like the
idea of religion and science overlapping. Like the politic factors, geographic location also played a
factor in the conviction of John Scopes.
The geographic factors such as the location, history and climate influenced the conviction in many
ways. The trial s location had a major effect because the people who live Tennessee and the extensive
area are religious. Tennessee, the location where the trial was held was in the Bible Belt, The Bible
Belt region stretches from Northern Texas to Western North Carolina. In the Bible Belt region, more
conservative Christians live there than other places in the

Three Religions and Three Holy Cities
Southwest Asia is home to a variety of cultures as well as religions. It has an significant past with
three major religions: Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. It is quite remarkable that Southwest Asia has
been a holy place for all three, and although it causes turmoil it is important to understand the three
religions and their customs. Such information may help us not to judge so quickly or perhaps to grow
in our knowledge about the world. Hopefully this will help everyone to have a wider view of the
world than just the town they reside in or even the country they live in.
Islam Islam is the religion founded from the teachings of the prophet Muhammad. It is often depicted
as a violent and irrational religion by the United States. This is not entirely true and although some of
its customs may seem hostile there is always a reason for them. We must learn to respect the opinions
of everyone and make correct choices for ourselves accordingly. Islam is represented by a crescent
moon and a star. The moon is depicted as waxing or waning. Islam has Three Major Holy cities:
Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem. The symbolic essence of the religious holidays of Islam are quite large
and are celebrated slightly different according to your denomination. For example, if you are a Sunni
Muslim then you would not participate in the act of beating yourself and cutting yourself as a Shi ite
Muslim would practice on the holy day of Ashura. Other popular Islamic holidays include Maulid, the

did decide to attend Bryant university. As the indoor track season came to a close you could say I
ended on a bitter sweet note. My team and I went to states and during the finale days of the season i
made the executive decision to run in the 4/800 meter relay rather an open event. My decision mainly
revolved around trying to achieve the school record and seeing how the record is rather impressive.
Though as the meet unraveled my team did not put forth great effort. Our team time was a 8:46,
however my individual split was an 2:05 which for

Pre-literacy and Modern Vestiges
Pre literacy and Modern Vestiges
For many years, the conventions and existence of epic poetry from the pre literate age were explained
as repositories for information. A well known story, usually involving a hero that embodied the virtues
of the society who told the story, engages in battles, quests, etc. As the epic is spoken to an audience,
the hero s actions and the way they are described impart the audience with information and teachings.
The information the listeners received is thought by some to be analogous to a modern day textbook
lesson, in which students learn mathematics, grammar, and law, all by the written word. So is the
contention of Homeric scholar Eric A. Havelock. As Hobart and Schiffman state in Orality and the ...

The specific words sung are more attuned to the metrical nature of the music than they are apt tools
for imparting the singer with specific knowledge about a single battle. The Star Spangled Banner is an
example of modern commemoration. If we were to read it as it was originally written, as a poem, then
we would probably think of it as a series of images describing a naval assault on an American fort, and
as a singular, historical event. The poem s lines would become information. Yet in song form this is
not the case. The point of the song is not for each individual to remember a certain night in American
history; the point is for a group of singers to remember the notion of a nation, more specifically, the
United States.
Hobart and Schiffman theorize that each oral presentation of the Iliad was a different for its audiences
as the situations in which we might hear the national anthem. For instance, we sing the national
anthem at baseball games, but we also heard it after the World Trade Center was attacked on
September 11, 2001; besides being group events, these cases have little in common. The type of
memory that we use when sing the song together is the commemorative type.
Another example describing the differences in the concept of memory that Hobart and Schiffman refer
to can be found in computers. Memory on a computer describes how many tasks a computer can do at

Technology In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is a product of the era of its conception. Originally published in 1818, the
novel found itself released at the height of the Industrial Revolution. During this tumultuous time
period, many nations and peoples found themselves witnesses the dawn of a new era and a new way of
life. Industrialization brought with it the possibility and promise of a simplified and more efficient
way of living. But with such bold potentialities came the fear of going forth into the unknown. Shelley
s Frankenstein is a response to the new technological advances seen in her life and is a cautionary tale
about boldly going in the new industrious age. In Frankenstein, Shelly creates a narrative of a man
throwing caution to the wind with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the world we live in we see many examples of human s working towards combating the limited
existence we have on this Earth. The field of medicine has greatly benefited the quality and longevity
of human life. In this way, the facet of Frankenstein s pursuit for circumventing death is present in
today s world as we are seeing people being able to live longer and healthier lives thanks to advances
in medicine and the medical field. But Shelley did not create Frankenstein as a character entrenched in
the search of a longer life, but rather to be able to hold the reins of existence and to create life itself.
Shelley is clear with her stance on the idea of mankind attempting to supersede a creator and become
creators of life themselves. Frankenstein is seen as being greatly affected by his creation and the very
nature of his actions. After the creation of his monster, Frankenstein is stricken with illness: I passed
the night wretchedly. Sometimes my pulse beat so quickly and hardly that I felt the palpitation of
every artery; at others, I nearly sank to the ground through languor and extreme weakness (Shelley p.
36). This is Shelley presenting the idea that should a person perform such an act as to create an
abomination of life that they would be going against such an innate tendency of humans. And in doing
so, their own body would react to such aberration that they would be wracked with physical torment.

The Fashion Field As A Global Phenomenon
Chapter II
1. Introduction
In times where fashion is perceived as a global phenomenon, it seems easier than ever for people to
follow, consume and produce fashion from anywhere at any point of time. Media is spreading what s
hot and what s not within seconds all over the globe. A closer look at the mechanisms of the creation
of fashion from a practical and theoretical angel sheds light on the well guarded boarders of this so
called fashion democracy. Who decides the content of fashion? A simple answer given, collectively
repeated by those involved in the creation of fashion is talent. Without talent and the right intuition
fashion cannot arise and prosper.
In this essay a will give a brief outline of the fashion field, following the theoretical approach and
terminology of Pierre Bourdieu, and its structure which sets the limits to the democratic fashion by
unequally producing and distributing fashion talent. The resulting global disproportion of so called
talent is visible in the excessive attention New York, Paris and London receive as fashion gatekeepers.
Dubai, with its eyes set on 2020 to become the most prestigious fashion capital of the world, struggles
to compete with those giants. Hence, it applies a subversive strategy by building a fashion education
system to equip its very own local talent with the skills to advance in the global fashion market. The
effectiveness and constrains of this strategy I will examine on the following pages and give a prospect

Resource Allocation for Quantity of Information Delivery...
Energy consumption of data communication systems is becoming an important issue due to the large
use of devices. The evaluation of energy consumption can be done from various perspectives which
include implementation and hardware issues as circuit consumption and non ideal performing signal
processing algorithms for data recovery cite{LI11, AUER11}. In fact, it is well known that the
minimum signal energy per information bit that is required for reliable communications in a Gaussian
channel can be obtained from the minimum signal to noise ratio (SNR) that is equal to $ 1.59$~dB.
This result was firstly derived in~cite{SHAN49} in the asymptotic regime assuming that the
transmission of the information requires an infinite amount of time. More recently it has been
extended to a general class of channels in~cite{VERD02} and it has been shown that it can be
achieved as the bandwidth goes to infinity. In the green communications context, this lower limit gives
the minimal transmit energy per bit required for reliable communication. Consequently, the efficiency
of green communication systems can be measured using the bit per Joule (bit/J)
metric~cite{CHEN10, LI11}. This performance metric has been studied taking into account various
aspects both with pragmatic and information theoretic approaches~cite{BELM10}. All
communication layers are concerned~cite{AYAD11, SEAH10} and the cross layer
approach~cite{MIAO09} is useful for the holistic treatment of the energy consumption

Horse Artificial Insemination
Selective breeding in animals is the process is which humans select certain animals to breed with each
other in order for the offspring to have certain phenotypic traits. This also encompasses artificial
embryo selection in which humans actively select embryos with have the genes for the phenotypic
traits they desire in the offspring. Throughout history horses have been selectively bred to work for
and with humans, beginning over 3000 years ago before humans knew about genetic heritability.
Many horses are bred to perform better on the racetrack, however this comes at a cost for the
individual horses. Artificial Insemination: Artificial insemination (AI) is a technique which aims to
maintain and establish certain traits in offspring. Horse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many generations must be bred to understand the heritability of the certain trait that breeders are
looking at. This is a slow process and can take many months since the offspring have to have offspring
of their own and so on. As more breeding for superior traits occurs, bloodlines get superior, more so
than the original stock. Bloodlines within breeds become more and more specialised in a certain
behaviour or performance due to intense selective breeding. Racehorses are bred for speed, but this is
often at the expense of bone strength. In the past horses were bred for their specific type of races, so
they different frequencies of alleles. Nowadays the trend is to breed a horse that will excel in all
activities. This one size fits all horse is achieved by a certain degree of inbreeding, and trait selection.
This decreases the amount of genetic variation in the gene pool of the whole population, which has
been identified as inbreeding depression. When genetic variation decreases, often necessary alleles are
lost. This has causes an increase in health problems in racehorses, such as sore shins, respiratory
disease, joint problems, susceptibility to fractures, degenerative cartilage, and soft tissue damage. This
reduced biological fitness can significantly shorten the lives of the horses and the population may

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book Ordinary People By Judith Guest Lauren Lee Mrs, Stob Cycle of Life Per:1 Young people live life by the day. The process of self discovery begins as a teenager. For some, this could take years. For others, it could happen quickly. Sometimes hardship leads people towards self discovery. In the book Ordinary People, by Judith Guest, Conrad struggles with his identity; in the past, Conrad was never able to do anything without his brother s influence. Once his brother drowns, Conrad feels lost without him. In the beginning, middle and end of the book, Conrad goes through the stages of grief, and through this process, Conrad discovers his identity. The stages of grief are demonstrated in Conrad s relationships with his family and friends. Conrad has experienced depression and a suicide attempt in response to his brother s death. At the beginning of the book, Conrad is going through the first stage of grief, which is shock and denial. Conrad s father, Cal, worries about Conrad s mental health and gives him the name of a therapist. However, Conrad does not call him. Cal believes that Conrad, ought to stick with the plan (13) However, Conrad can t [because he] is swimming every night...[He doesn t] need to see anybody. [He] feels fine (13). Conrad is uncomfortable talking about the death, and seeing a therapist would require him to talk. Conrad is afraid to feel his emotions. He thinks if he just avoids thinking about his brother s death, he will be okay. The second ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Benefits And Benefits Of Social Security In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. Hence it would not be fair if benefits are granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are disabled. Also, hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. Furthermore, Social Security needs to reach out to the majority which is the poverty stricken. By informing the impecunious or immigrants of Social Security it could save them from the misfortune of poverty. Even though, Social Security relieves some citizens from a financial burden there are still many improvements to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Did Religion Influence Ancient Egypt The geographical location and the surrounding environment of Egypt heavily influenced the people of Ancient Egypt s spiritual life and their religious belief in a multitude of ways. A central part of the environment that contributed to Egyptian spiritual life and religious beliefs is the Nile River, a foundation of their cosmology. Their religious belief stems from the myth of Ra, the sun god. The belief is at the beginning of time the Nile brought a mound of silt where Ra, the highest deity among the Egyptian gods. From Ra, the other gods emerged. The Nile River, to the Ancient Egyptians, symbolized rebirth and renewal. The Nile also represented the belief in life after death. The story of Osiris is directly connected to the Nile River, and the resurrection after death. Osiris, the god of the underworld, was killed by his brother Set and his body was cut into small pieces and thrown into the Nile. Osiris wife, Isis, collected the pieces of his body and put him back together. This myth contributed to the belief in life after death, which in turn would influence many more aspects of their lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their cosmology states that the world was a platter floating in the underworld until the Nile s first water produced dirt in which Ra emerged, and he created the other gods. The belief that the world was a floating platter could have stemmed from Egypt s geography. The animals found in the environment around Egypt influenced the way their gods were depicted throughout their art and literature. • 6. Thomas Edison And The Light Bulb Essay Everyone in their lifetime has heard the name Thomas Edison at least once. However, if you asked those same people why Thomas Edison was so famous, ninety percent of the time they would tell you it was because he invented the light bulb, and each of them would be completely wrong. Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb; in fact, someone had the idea for it almost one hundred years before Mr. Edison was even born. To invent something means to come up with the idea in the first place, as well as to actually carry it out. In this paper I will give you insights into the life of Thomas Edison and explain why people get confused in thinking the light bulb was his idea. He also had several other interesting experiments, and we will take a look at what people thought of them. I believe Thomas Edison is one of the greatest minds that have ever existed on planet earth, and the rest of this paper will be devoted to showing you why this is true. If one stopped and thought about all the amazing and wonderful inventions that this world has ever seen, what would be number one on that list? Most people in today s world would probably say items that they use on a daily basis. If we made a list of what some people might say, it might include such things as automobiles, their new iPhone, advancements in medicine, heaters, air conditioning, power tools, gaming systems, IPods, etc., and the list could go on and on. Compare and Contrast Two Works of Art Anthony Arteaga Art History Ancient World Homework Assignment #1 Compare and contrast the subject, concept, and the Formal Element of the two works of art. Also, explain which category this work falls in. The two pieces I have chosen can be found on page 200, figure 6 51, Battle of Centaurs and Wild Beasts from Hadrian s Villa and on page 434, figure 14 8, Battle of the Bird and Serpent. Not only did I choose these pieces for their beauty, but also because both works have similar yet different subjects, concepts, and formal elements. Also, the shapes in the background are fuzzier and assumed in piece one where the shapes in piece two are sharper and more defined. Another formal element is texture. The first piece, according to the text, is a floor mosaic which is composed of many colored tesserae that were laid down in irregular, curving lines, which effectively imitated painted brushstrokes. The individual tiles are more apparent when viewed closely. This gives the piece a grainy and earthy texture, where it physically looks bumpy. The textbook says it has foreshortening, the illusion created on a flat surface in which figures and objects appear to recede or project sharply into space. The second piece was drawn with tempera on parchment. This makes the piece look smooth, flat, and two dimensional. The next element is color. The hues in both pieces are relatively earth toned. Both pieces have a low level of saturation. In piece one, the sky is mustard brown with a section of mint green that frames the boulder that the male centaur is holding. The rocky scenery has browns and creams with a dull green and brown center. A bright green patch of pine trees is in the corner that contrasts with the sky and rocks. The colors to the second piece are similar in the sense that it has low saturation. The colors are dull and warm. This piece utilizes reds and oranges, in the serpent, that the first piece does not. • 8. Paper On Conflict Theory Conflict Theory is a social and economic factor. It is seen as inequality in gender, race, crime and wealth. Conflict Theory was developed by the theorist Karl Marx, who believed that conflict theory is split into two groups: the wealthy and the poor. Marx labels the wealthy as those who control and the poor are labeled as those who are controlled by the government, law or other authority. Conflict theory means you are labeled based on who you are. Karl Marx states that someone will be labeled based on the social class they belong to. He also states that the society that you belong to gives you the power in making laws. Those who are not privileged, are poor or are in a lower social class suffer the consequences of being treated differently. Gender as defined by conflict theory implies that men manipulate the power and privileges given to women. Conflict theorist argue that the only reason these roles are persists is because the dominate group naturally works to maintain their power and status (Boundless.com). The three stories in question are The Leap, The Contents of a Dead Man s Pockets, and Ambush. The authors of these stories use aspects of their stories to shape the plot, show the theme, and to change the views of the characters in the stories. The first literary element used in the stories to form the plot, was the setting. In the story Ambush, the narrator is crouching in bushes alongside a dirt path that is shrouded in fog and mist. The narrator remarks when telling this story that, The mosquitoes were fierce. I remember slapping at them, wondering if I should wake up Kiowa and ask for some repellent, then ... Someone makes an abrupt movement to reason with Rahal, to force him to go all the way to shore, but the Zodiac loses balance and then it s too late. This tension causes the boat to eventually flip, which changes the outcome of the story and plot. In these three stories, the authors use the setting of the story to shape and alter the plot in multiple ways. The writers also used the conflicts of the stories to further the plot and to change the character s opinions and views. The conflict of Ambush, the narrator throwing a grenade at an unknown man, resulted in the narrator changing the way he acted in the future. Even now I haven t finished sorting it out. Sometimes I forgive myself, other times I don t. In the ordinary hours of life I try not to dwell on it, but now and then, when I m reading a newspaper or just sitting alone in a room, I ll look up and see the young man coming out of the morning fog. Photography As The Technical Side Of Photography Photography was only an idea before it became something tangible and memorable. 100 Ideas That Change Photography was written by Mary Warner Marien in 2011 and it is aim to help and remind people about both the artistic photography as well as the technical side of photography. This book thoroughly explains how does photography evolve throughout time and it gathers information on the most influential ideas that shaped photography from the early 19th century up to digital revolution and beyond it. Aesthetics What is aesthetics? Aesthetics is a set of principles concerned with the nature and appreciation of beauty, especially in art. Many stated that photo as an art made by a camera, but if photo is an objective rendering of what the camera sees and then say the photographer is merely a machine operator, how can you say that the camerawork as an artwork if the operator knows nothing about aesthetics value? Meaning here, all photographers need to know and learn what is aesthetics value in order to not just be a machine operator but to be someone who knows all the principles, basic understanding of what is camerawork, and good in interpreting as well as applying aesthetics principle. Events in history are not defined by how they actually happened but how they were interpreted. Be it by the people of that land or other lands looking in. In what ways do people receive the important news? News comes through media outlets such as radio, newspaper and television. Americans especially tend to take things at face value. This information must be true, I read it in a newspaper. In 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and in the coming weeks thanks to newspaper, men and underage boys were lined up in a fury ready to serve their country and the United States declares war on Japan. In the same year Hitler declares war on the United States. The United States drops the Atomic bomb and Japan surrenders. It was not possible to call up a loved one off at war to catch up. In 1948 there was the Berlin Airlift, and 1949 NATO was established. In 1950 the McCarthy Hearings begin and are wildly popular on almost every radio station. In 1954 Brown v.Board of Education is decided and the Civil Rights movement begins to cause a stir in the early 60s. The Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy is assassinated, race riots, Tet offensive, the end o the Vietnam War, Watergate. Blood Glucose Viscosity Levels Of Non Diabetics And Diabetics Blood Glucose Absorbance Levels of Non Diabetics and Diabetics Over 120 Minutes After Food Consumption Alexis Lester BSC 120 113 October 27, 2015 Dr. Welch Abstract Individuals with diabetes are affected by elevated blood glucose levels in the bloodstream due to inefficient glucose uptake by cells. Blood glucose levels are influenced by many things, especially meals and their glucose content. Therefore, if diabetics cannot correctly regulate their blood glucose levels, particularly after meals, then their readings will be higher than non diabetic levels. In the experiment, the absorbance of simulated blood glucose levels of both diabetic and non diabetic people in 120 minutes following a meal was measured using a spectrophotometer. The blood glucose levels of diabetics were higher than that of non diabetics throughout the entire course of 120 minutes, including at peak levels occurring at 60 minutes. The cause of this was a greater abundance of molecules in the highly concentrated diabetic solutions, which were ready to absorb more light. This demonstrates the ineffectiveness of diabetic metabolic pathways for utilizing glucose compared to that of non diabetics. This research can be taken further to analyze how different types of food influence blood glucose levels. Introduction Type II diabetes is a metabolic disease that affects many people of various ages, genders, and ethnicities all over the world. Many factors contribute to the disease, including ... A lot of us in this world never actually find our purpose in life, we just kind of settle for what we are able to do. We go through trials and tribulations to find ourselves, and find anything that will make our lives more satisfying, including putting ourselves in harms way to do it. The first theme demonstrated in this movie is Perseverance, which was illustrated in the film by Wesley, and his determination to go through all the physical test to meet standards of the fraternity. His whole intention throughout the movie was to prove that he could become more than what he always has considered himself, which is below average. When Wesley was in training he got beat up by multiple people in the fraternity, in an attempt to make him physically strong to stand anything. He learned tasks including fighting, knife work, and also how to curve a bullet. When he was learning to curve the bullet Sloan, played by Morgan Freeman, states The first time in your life Wesley, you are in control (Bekmambetov, Wanted ). As he shoots multiple bullets and still pierces the wrong target, Fox then stands in the middle of him and the target and says, shoot the target (Bekmambetov, Wanted ). As hesitant as he was he knew he had to have confidence in himself to complete the task. As he shoots around Fox, not knowing if the bullet would hit her, he takes his shot and hits the correct target. Sloan then says Welcome to the fraternity (Bekmambetov, Wanted ). He then knew all his hard work had paid off! That part of the movie showed strength and perseverance. Another way both themes, deceit and perseverance, were shown was at the end of the movie when ... It is well known that the CuO is p type semiconductor which typically crystallizes into monoclinic structures and is defined by C26h (C2/c) space group. Three Raman active (Ag + 2Bg) and six IR active (3Au + 3Bu) optical modes are predicted by group theory for CuO. These normal lattice vibrations at the Γ point of the Brillouin zone are given on the basis of group theory by the equation (Siddiqui et al 2016 c): Γ= 4Au+5Bu+Ag+2Bg. Explain Why Some Working At Home Are More Productive Than... 91 Percent of People Who Work at Home Are More Productive Than at Work When the idea of working remotely comes up in a conversation, I find that people tend to respond in one of two ways: total dread or utter delight. Some professionals recall the risks and difficulties of working away from the office, while others rave about having the flexibility to create their own schedule and work environment. Regardless of how you work best and where you personally stand on the topic, it s worth considering the benefits of offering remote working opportunities to your team and organization. With clear expectations and guidelines in place, remote working can bolster productivity and build trust within your team. In fact, in a 2016 survey of American remote workers, 91 percent of people who work remotely revealed that they re more productive than when they re in an office. In some ways, remote working is similar to having teams in different locations or spread across various parts of the country. This was called the Final Solution . Countless of Jews resisted during this time hoping to stop the cruelty and torture. During the Holocaust, Jews used armed and unarmed forms of resistance in order to retain their humanity. Armed resistance was a way for the Jewish people to stand up for themselves. Maybe the medicine is causing even more issues than when you began? There is another answer to these problems, and a new way to ease pain. Medical marijuana may be the holy grail to medicine. Marijuana, also known as cannabis sativa (National Institute on Drug Abuse), is one of the 50 fundamental herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine (Torrey). One in three Americans have used Marijuana at least once ( Negative Side Effects of Smoking Marijuana ). The two medical active ingredients are cannabidiol also known as CBD, and tetrahydrocannabinol also known as THC. CBD has an impact on the brain without the high. THC has pain relieving properties and gives a person that high feeling (Loria). Marijuana affects everyone differently, but there are some pros and cons that have an effect on everyone. There are some short term negative effects that come with abusing the substance. Side effects include less coordination , skin rashes, dry mouth, fatigue, blurred vision , distrust, depression, suicidal thoughts, and memory loss. Overdose on marijuana causes anxiety and panic (Tracy;Watson). Three of the most common short term side effects are headaches, paranoia, and allergy. The specific words sung are more attuned to the metrical nature of the music than they are apt tools for imparting the singer with specific knowledge about a single battle. The Star Spangled Banner is an example of modern commemoration. If we were to read it as it was originally written, as a poem, then we would probably think of it as a series of images describing a naval assault on an American fort, and as a singular, historical event. The poem s lines would become information. Yet in song form this is not the case. The point of the song is not for each individual to remember a certain night in American history; the point is for a group of singers to remember the notion of a nation, more specifically, the United States. Hobart and Schiffman theorize that each oral presentation of the Iliad was a different for its audiences as the situations in which we might hear the national anthem. For instance, we sing the national anthem at baseball games, but we also heard it after the World Trade Center was attacked on September 11, 2001; besides being group events, these cases have little in common. Introduction In times where fashion is perceived as a global phenomenon, it seems easier than ever for people to follow, consume and produce fashion from anywhere at any point of time. Media is spreading what s hot and what s not within seconds all over the globe. A closer look at the mechanisms of the creation of fashion from a practical and theoretical angel sheds light on the well guarded boarders of this so called fashion democracy. Who decides the content of fashion? A simple answer given, collectively repeated by those involved in the creation of fashion is talent. Without talent and the right intuition fashion cannot arise and prosper. In this essay a will give a brief outline of the fashion field, following the theoretical approach and terminology of Pierre Bourdieu, and its structure which sets the limits to the democratic fashion by unequally producing and distributing fashion talent. The resulting global disproportion of so called talent is visible in the excessive attention New York, Paris and London receive as fashion gatekeepers. Dubai, with its eyes set on 2020 to become the most prestigious fashion capital of the world, struggles to compete with those giants. Hence, it applies a subversive strategy by building a fashion education system to equip its very own local talent with the skills to advance in the global fashion market. • 30. Resource Allocation for Quantity of Information Delivery... Energy consumption of data communication systems is becoming an important issue due to the large use of devices. The evaluation of energy consumption can be done from various perspectives which include implementation and hardware issues as circuit consumption and non ideal performing signal processing algorithms for data recovery cite{LI11, AUER11}. In fact, it is well known that the minimum signal energy per information bit that is required for reliable communications in a Gaussian channel can be obtained from the minimum signal to noise ratio (SNR) that is equal to $ 1.59$~dB. This result was firstly derived in~cite{SHAN49} in the asymptotic regime assuming that the transmission of the information requires an infinite amount of time. More recently it has been extended to a general class of channels in~cite{VERD02} and it has been shown that it can be achieved as the bandwidth goes to infinity. In the green communications context, this lower limit gives the minimal transmit energy per bit required for reliable communication. Consequently, the efficiency of green communication systems can be measured using the bit per Joule (bit/J) metric~cite{CHEN10, LI11}. This performance metric has been studied taking into account various aspects both with pragmatic and information theoretic approaches~cite{BELM10}. All communication layers are concerned~cite{AYAD11, SEAH10} and the cross layer approach~cite{MIAO09} is useful for the holistic treatment of the energy consumption ...
