The Temple Of Jupiter Optimus
Like the Etruscans and Greeks before them, the Romans are known for having constructed
monumental temples in highly visible locations. Situated atop the Capitoline Hill in the heart of the
ancient city of Rome, the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus, shared with Juno Regina, and
Minerva, represented this tradition well. Before the iconic Temple became known as the Temple of
Jupiter Optimus Maximus, the site came to symbolize Romes position as Caput Mundi, which
literally means head of the world . Unfortunately, neglect, spoliation, and eventual site adaptation
means that very little of the temple of Jupiter remains for us to study. Despite its disappearance over
time, however, the lasting impact of the temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus... Show more content

Ops, Jupiter s mother, hid Jupiter away from Saturn in a place that would allow Jupiter to grow his
powers without Saturn being able to find him. After he gets older, Jupiter returns home and battles
Saturn, freeing his brothers and sisters in the process. The gods overthrow the titans, making
Jupiter the king of the gods, Optimus Maximus.
Jupiter was praised under many names at the temple on Capitoline. He was known as Jupiter
Imperator, Jupiter Invictus, and Jupiter Triumphator. Jupiter Imperator meant Supreme General.
Leaders would visit the temple and make sacrifices for Jupiter to lead them into battle. Jupiter
Invictus meaning to be unconquerable or undefeated and Jupiter Triumphator meaning to be
triumphant in battle. These three epithets of Jupiter go hand in hand with his title Jupiter Optimus
Maximus. Optimus Maximus means Best and Greatest which is the only way to describe the king
of the gods who is a supreme general who is undefeated and triumphant. Jupiter also was
worshipped as Jupiter Victor which is pretty similar to the other epithets when it comes to battle.
Before any battle, the Roman Senate would wait for Jupiter s blessing so they could achieve
victory. The Romans centered their heart and soul around the worship of Jupiter and prayed that he
would lead them into many successful battles like he had done with his brothers and sisters against
the titans many moons ago.

Creon Tragic Hero In The Play Antigone
In the play Antigone, there were many tragic heroes. In my opinion Creon was one of those.
Creon was a tragic hero that was trying to be noble, but losing his entire family was extreme; he
was set to fail from the start. In the play Creon decreed Polyneices was not to be buried. He did
this as he believed that Polyneices was a traitor to Thebes. In his eyes this was a noble deed to do
for his city that Polyneices had betrayed. If anyone undermined him and buried Polyneices then he
saw them as un noble and must be dealt with at once. His downfall came as a result from him
trying to be noble. Upholding traitors like Antigonedid is not noble. Creons entire family by the end
of the play, with the exception Ismene, killed themselves. No matter

Counterculture In 1960s
In the 1960s a new group of young, long haired and wild people began to form in San Francisco,
California and soon spread throughout the rest of the country and then developed around the world.
Its origins may be traced to European social movement in the 19th and early 20th century such as
Bohemians, and the influence of Eastern religion and spirituality. From around 1967, its
fundamental ethos including harmony with nature, communal living, artistic experimentation
particularly in music, and the widespread use of recreational drugs spread around the world during
the counterculture of the 1960s, which has become closely associated with the subculture. These

hippie movement of the 1960s. At first, many things went wrong people didn t want any hippies
and drug addicts coming to the original location. About two months before the concert new site
had to be found but lucky organizers found a 600 acre farm which was perfect also the organizers
expected about 50,000 people but as the date came nearer it became clear that far more people
wanted to be at the event. A few days before the festival began hundreds of thousands of pop and
rock fans were on their way to Woodstock. There were not enough gates and tickets were checked
also the fans made holes in the fences so lots of people just walked in. About 300,000 to 500,000

American Identity Changes
From the very birth of the nation, the American Identity has been here. It has changed as we grew
as a nation, slowly starting to represent not only American born citizens, but to represent the
immigrants who moved here with their own hopes and dreams. The American Identity can be
defined as a fluid, ever changing idea that has changed over time to represent the ideals of
immigrants, as well as people we perceive as different.
According to Ta Nehisi Coates, the American Identitydoes not change, it never has and never
will. In America, it is traditional to destroy the black body it is heritage. Coates claims that the
American identity is hereditary. He claims that people are raised to be white and that to be born

(2009): 62 81. JSTOR. Web. 28 Feb. 2016. Written by Sarah A. Krive, from the Department of
Languages at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the article, A Transcultural
Monument: Anna Akhmatova in Postsocialist Russia (2009), argues that Akhmatova was a
postsocialist poet, because she began producing her work at the end of Imperial Russia and
throughout Soviet Russia, until her death in 1966. She believes that Akhmatova was a symbol of
strength in her stand against Stalin, and subsequent persecution from his regime. Next she posits
that Akhmatova achieved what many Russians could not; she was able to make a permanent
record of Stalin s reign through her poetry. She emphasizes that instead of Russians internalizing
the trauma, they turned to Akhmatova and regarded her as the voice of Russia. In the second
half of the piece, she details the creation and collection of Akhmatova s poetry cycle Wreath for
the Dead, an elegiac work. Krive discusses elements of Akhmatova s work of poetry in order to
express the importance of the poet as a mouthpiece for Russia. Her audience appears to be any
researcher who wishes to further understand the relationship between Akhmatova and Russia. This
article focuses on delivering a large measure of information on Akhmatova s work of poetry, and

Essay on Law Enforcement and Leadership
Introduction
Police leadership uses standardization and procedure as a way to create consistency and
predict¬ability in law enforcement operations (Batts, Smoot, Scrivner, 2012). The San Diego
Police Department, like nearly all law enforcement agencies uses leadership models mimicking the
United States military. Paramilitary organizations use highly structured framing to conduct business
operations. The structural frame creates compartmentalized specialization, and predictable, uniform
task performance desired by police executives. The tightly designed rank and file structure
delineates locus power and control based on position (Bolman Deal, 1991). Power rests at the top.
Contained with this structure is top down control of personnel, ... Show more content on

Line level law enforcement officers, investigators supervisors, and police executives are more
educated and sophisticated with technology in their arsenal to enhance job performance. Despite
having better education, training, equipment, access to specialized resources, and information, law
enforcement agencies struggle with sharing power with their workforce. The result of this failure to
modernize leaves law enforcement officers going through the motions and working at less than
maximum efficiency.
Purpose/Assessment of the need
The goal of project was to adapt an existing work group with the purpose of comparing and
contrasting task oriented leadership communication models utilized in paramilitary organizations to
relationship based leadership communication. Paramilitary structured organizations use outdated
leadership models. Transformative leadership model utilizing shared power and collaboration was
used to answer the question of relationship based leadership is as effective within a highly
structured work groups accustomed to top down, high direction, low task oriented leadership.
Law enforcement agencies in the United States reliance on the paramilitary structure model of the
industrial and manufacturing era has become increasingly outdated and ineffective (Batts, Smoot,
Scrivner, 2012). Despite the change law enforcement agencies remain slow to adapt to

1). Clearly, we have a broad mission with ever growing capacity to provide healthcare to our
patients. A key insight about the financial health of UHS is that we are performing extremely well.
According to our latest financial statement, we are ever improving our numbers. Our net revenues
continually increased from $4,900,147 in 2010, to $8,065,326 in 2014. Furthermore, our total
assets grew during this same timeframe from $7,527,936 to $8,974,443, resulting in an impressive
reduction of our percentage of total debt to total capitalization from 66% to 51% (UHS Annual
Report, 2014, p. 41). Given our investment in several new facilities in 2014, we continue to see this
sustained growth in light of those investments as impressive and an indicator of a truly a healthy
organization.
Reaction to Financial Statements
I speculate that our employees, investors, and shareholders will be very pleased with our financial
health as reflected in the latest financial statement discussed above, and react in positive ways.
The employees benefit by the increase in revenue in the form of bonus and raises, of course based
on their performance. The investors will react equally positively since we have expanded our
investment portfolio by acquiring and opening new hospitals. Similarly, our shareholders will see

Examples Of Ignorance In Fahrenheit 451
In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray bradbury, Bradbury shows that behind the destructive fire and
the burning of books, citizens believe that the key to happiness is ignorance. In the story, the
citizens of the dystopia don t question what is hidden from them, but the main character of the story
ponders what he is told and discovers truth and happiness through the knowledge gained from
reading stolen books.
Bradbury shows the ignorance the citizens possess, through many examples. In the beginning of the
book he shows it in a huge way when the firemen don t think twice about burning a woman alive:
Montag placed his hand on the woman s elbow. You can come with me. No, she said. Thank you,
anyway. The pink face of Beatty now showed the faintest... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the beginning of the book Ray Bradbury shows how Montog reacts to fire when he is ignorant.
Montag did not think about what he was doing while he burned books because he had not began
reading books himself. Montag grinned the fierce grin of all men singed and driven back by flame.
He knew that when he returned to the firehouse, he might wink at himself, a minstrel man, burnt
corked, in the mirror.(4) This quote shows Montag s outlook on fire before he began reading books
himself. Montag was a complex character in Fahrenheit 451. His views constantly change as the
story progresses. In the end of the book, Bradbury showed him and his reactions to fire where,
after his ignorance had been lifted. He had realized that it could do more than cause destruction
and take away pieces of art away, but that it could help bring people together. Bradbury shows
this when montag finds people come together around fire rather than be pulled apart because of
it: It was not only the fire that was different. It was the silence that was concerned with all of the
world.(146) Montag looked at the fire at the end of the book and felt happy and at peace with the
world. He did not feel anger or a resistance to the fire, but he was one with it and was no longer

Defining Naturalness And Its Impact On The Environment
IV.Defining Naturalness Another potential, but overall less effective, goal for conservation is
naturalness, which is also defined differently across the literature. Crumpacker (1998) describes
three components of naturalness, two of which the author argues are quantifiable. The first part of
naturalness is the degree to which the system would change if humans were removed (Crumpacker
1998). The next two components of naturalness are the amount of cultural energy that is required to
maintain the currently existing system and the number of native speciesthat currently live in the
system in comparison to the abundance of species that lived in the area prior to European
settlement (Crumpacker 1998). Anderson (1991) describes naturalness as a continuum between
complete naturalness, which would be an ecosystemvirtually unaffected by humans, and complete
unnaturalness, which would be an environment that is completely influenced by humans, such as a
city. This scale of naturalness is established by assessing the extent to which ecosystems have been
modified by humans and how much a damaged ecosystem would recover if humans were removed
(Anderson 1991).
Ridder (2007) also addresses two interpretations of naturalness that are similar to the definitions
proposed by Anderson (1991). One interpretation by Ridder (2007) is that naturalness refers to
processes that do not involve human intervention, which is similar to the spontaneous condition of
nature that would exist in the

T-Mobile Case Study

Sonya Nicole Maynes

Introduction
The world of telecommunications is a dog eat dog world. Marketing and innovation is key.
Leading the pack as America s fastest growing network (*) is none other than T Mobile. Of course
it was not always this way. With the on boarding of CEO John Legere in 2012, the then small
telecommunications company, skyrocketed to 73 million customers(Feloni, 2016). In 1994 T
Mobile, with the name of VoiceStream Wireless PCS, was established by John Stanton. Seven
years later it was purchased by Deutsche Telekom AG for a whopping $39 million and rebranded T
Mobile US the following year. In 2011 T Mobile was in financial trouble and was looking to be
purchased by AT T. The deal was struck down by the US Department of Justice because it would
lessen the competition in the market. In early 2012 John Legere became CEO and the rebranding
started. T Mobile then went on to acquire MetroPCS Communication in October 2012 to broaden
their customer base and increase prepaid service revenue. John Legere then introduced contract
free pricing in 2013 which then forced the big guys (Verizon and AT T) to follow suit. Due to
their success, Sprint attempted to acquire the company in 2013 but abandoned the idea due to the
fact that it was unlikely to be approved by the government (Maynes, 2017). In 2016 there were
talks of T Mobile purchasing Sprint. In November of 2017, after months of negotiations and

White Dolphin Quotes
The book White Dolphin is all about a young girl named Kara. She ,unfortunately, goes through a
terrible time starting with the disappearance of her mother and believing she is dead, too dealing
with contamination in the local coral. When Kara is walking one day with a guy she was not fond
of, Felix, they came across a white dolphinthat was trapped in netting and was struggling to survive.
Kara and Felix came together to save the baby white dolphin, reunite him with his mother, and stop
the destruction of the reefs. Branching off of that, there is a song that represents each character.
The first song is Fight Song which goes along with the character Kara, and then there is Give Your
Heart a Break which represents Kara s dad, lastly I Knew You Were Trouble which represents Jake.
To start off the song Fight Song best represents Kara because she has to be a fighter and not give
up. In the song, Rachel sings, I might only have one match but I can make an explosion, (Rachel
Platten). Then in the book, Kara states, I m fine, I say. I tuck my hands under my armpits to warm

This quote from the songs represents Jake because when he went places he gave off a bad vibe
and would belittle people. In the book Kara s dad says, Keep out of Jake s way, he says. He s got
a nose for trouble, like his dad, (Lewis 22). This quote ties along with the song by showing that
he gave a bad vibe to people around him. Jake s dad was the man who was tearing up the reefs
and was a very cruel man, and people in the community believed his son would be exactly like
him. At times Jake would act like his father and tease Kara about her missing mother and more. To
sum it up, Jake was a cruel and nasty person that took after the role of his father, but turned his life

The global economy and the stages of recovery:
As is known, there has been a decline in global GPD growth rates during the last two years due
to the global financial crisis which began in August 2007; it is considered one of the most
serious crises experienced by the global economy since World War II. According to the latest

global GDP growth fell from 5% p.a. in 2007 to 3.2% in 2008, dropping to .08% by 2009.

As can be seen in the capital markets indexes, the indicators fell sharply throughout the world
without exception. This decline led to a loss of confidence among investors.
Currently, the capital markets passed their nadir in the beginning of 2009 and the market has started
recovering from all time lows. In addition, investor confidence has improved, while economies
remain weak, although growth is expected. The majority have in fact returned to growth, albeit
only showing a slight rise.
Experts are split into two camps: the optimistic and the pessimistic, with some experts expecting a
return of the recession while others anticipate recovery.(Revisiting the global crisis,2009)

phenomenal work of literature. The novel has been able to withstand the test of time without
ever making it to the big screen. Now present day, with a movie of the bestselling novel coming
soon, every detail must amaze the avid reader of the book. This includes: top notch lighting, a
flawless director, a plethora of A list actors, outstanding scenery, and last but certainly not least, a
breathtaking soundtrack. A soundtrack can completely devastate a movie. If there is a scene
where a character is crying because they lost their friend, it would definitely be peculiar if the
music in the background was Can t Touch This by M.C. Hammer. Soundtracks tell the audience
what to feel whether it would be fear or excitement. With a soundtrack playing a critical position
in a movie, the songs that have been chosen have transcended more than just the scenes they are
played in, and turned into the embodiment of some of the major themes in the movie. A great
selection for the opening song would be a song by Chance the Rapper called Finish Line . On this
song, Chance the Rapper appears to just spout sentences that just come to head like the stream of
consciousness, like Holden. When Holden goes on his particular tangents he usually is trying to
get to a specific point, a finish line. Coincidentally, Holden during the entire book has been trying
to come to some finish line . With this song as the

The World s Greatest Success Story
Samsung is perhaps the world s greatest success story. Started in 1938 in Taegu, Korea by Lee
Byung Chul, Samsung has sprouted from a small company under Japanese rule, into the one of the
world s leaders in technology and innovation. It is a result of the Confucian principles embraced by
the company and its presidents and executive decisions and eagerness to adapt to the rapidly
changing world. Principles including leading honorably and with strength, emphasising the ruler
subject relationship, Chun tzu, making personal relationships a priority in a business setting, in
addition to keeping accordance with Jen,a warm heartedness and compassion that allows to one to
want to better humanity (Lander). In addition to Confucianism, Samsung has learned to innovate,
create demand, and learn from other companies successes and failures. With this combination of
old world Confucian principles and the ability to diversify and evolve, Samsung has experienced
intense growth and success, beating out Apple and Panasonic and gaining a foothold in the digital
age(Park and Barjot). According to Park and Barjot, Samsung s success came from two areas:
Confucian ethics instilled into Samsung s workforce and strong executive leadership, specifically
LeeByung Chul and to a lesser degree Kun Hee Lee. Lee Byung Chul, the founder of Samsung,
came from an upper class family of landlord and due to this, Lee was able to receive a strong

The Main Forces That Transitioned Europe Toward Modernity
Ngo
Humanities 4314
Midterm: October 12, 2014
Isser Woloch suggests that the key forces that transitioned Europe toward modernity are associated
with four different developments which coincided with and reinforced each other in final decades
of the eighteenth century: (1) rising population; (2) increased agricultural productivity; (3) a vast
increase in commerce, particularly in the exploitation of their colonies by Britain and France; and
(4) the expansion of textile manufacturing and the beginnings of its structural transformation in
England (113).
Population Growth
Prior to the Europe s sustained growth, Europe struggled as far as keeping growth steady flowing;
with that being said, as growth of population would reach its exponential, the population would
shortly reach a downfall. The result of contagious diseases, crop failure, and the aftermath of war
such as the Thirty Years War had altogether been the cause of a depopulated community.
The fluctuation of population may be seen when one looks at the sixteenth century and the
seventeenth century; for example, sixteenth century Europe had a rise in population while
seventeenth century Europe suffered a significant decline in numbers for population. Europe s
population suffered a downfall when the prices of grain and flour had risen following the law of
supply and demand; facing the wraths of high prices and short supply, people would soon become
undernourished and starving, possibly trying to fend off hunger by

The War Of Abraham Lincoln
The 1860 s was a time when the world was facing one of the bloodiest war in history. One of the
reasons for the war was the election of Abraham Lincoln. South Caroline issued the Declaration of
the Causes of Secession because they believed Lincoln was anti slaver (Bartels). However during
the most consequential period in American history, on November 1860 Abraham Lincolnwas elected
as the sixteenth president of the United Statesand the first Republican President. As the commander
in chief the union army, Lincoln needed to bring an end to the war and reunite the nation. On
November 19, 1863 Abraham Lincoln gave one of the most inspirational wartime speeches at the
Gettysburg National Cemetery. The Gettysburg Addressevoked a sense of unity into the American
citizens and human equality, which was greatly needed at that time. Lincoln s prerogative was to
acknowledge the values our founding fathers had, honor the human sacrifices and remind the
citizen of the optimistic purpose of war.
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in humble surroundings, a one room log
cabin with dirt floors in Kentucky. Coming from a farmer family Lincoln had no access to a
formal education, so he self educated himself from the basics of English to the complicated
language of law. Eventually he became a self taught Illinois lawyer and a great speaker. Lincoln s
family didn t believe in the idea of slavery so he too grew up finding it frightful (History.com).

Connotation In Cry The Beloved Country
The author uses the word forlorn, used on page 35 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the
sentence About you there is grass and bracken and you may hear the forlorn crying of the
Titihoya, one of the birds of the veld. Below you is the valley of the Umzimkulu , instead of the
word sorrowful even though both mean unhappy because forlorn gives more of negative
connotation and better describes the setting. This is appropriate in this context because the
village of Umzimkulu is put in a state of abandonment and social instability. Residents are part
of a conglomerate which pertains to abuse and racial discrimination. This word effectively
shows the message of prejudice shown by Paton. The author uses the word deteriorate, used on
page 179 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the sentence But it was not permissible to
watch its destruction, and to replace it by nothing, or by so little, that a whole people
deteriorates, physically and morally , instead of the word decline even though both mean to
become worse progressively. Paton uses this word because it gives a negative connotation that
is prevalent throughout the book. Deterioration is a good word to use to describe the state of the
tribal system within Umzimkulu. The social stability that is prevalent between residents of
Umzimkulu is falling apart or deteriorating. It shows that the South African social structure is
falling as a whole. The author uses the word voiceless, used on page 110 of the book Cry, the
Beloved Country in the sentence others say this is a danger, for better paid labour will not only
buy more but will also read more, think more, ask more, and will not be content to be forever
voiceless and inferior , instead of the word silent even though they both mean not speaking. The
author uses the word voiceless because it describes the state of black South Africans during the
time of racial prejudice and apartheid. Paton uses this word to give a tone that blacks had no
voice during the time. Like Kumalo and Absalom, they are taken advantage of by whites and as a
result, one is in a state of sorrow while another has become promiscuous due to prejudice. The
author uses the word disintegration, used on page 178 of the book Cry, the

The Ultimate Fighting Championship
The Ultimate Fighting Championship The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is recognized
as one of the fastest rising sports in America today. In a matter of two short years, it has gone
from an underground spectacle with evolving rules and standards to a recognized sport with a
mass fan following comparable in number to professional wrestling in the В‘80s and В‘90s. The
demand the sport has on a fighter s body and the endless time devoted to training that a fighter
must endure have solidified the UFC s place as a serious contender for the newest, world
recognized sport. The excitement and electricity felt by fans viewing the fight live and by those at

Set aside the physical demands of conditioning, a fight lasts as short as a one punch knock out to
the full fifteen to twenty minute battle. Twenty minutes of being punched in the face, kicked in
the ribs legs and face, getting body slammed onto the wooden mat, and being choked until
submission or loss of consciousness would toughen a human far more than the toll a body takes
in any other sport. Another factor that is somewhat overlooked is the effect fans have on a sport
and its events. With a truly passionate group of fans, a sport can really excel. The quick growth
of the UFC fan base may cause the opposition to question the true loyalty and passion of the fans
of the UFC. Just watching an event live, however, you can really see the intrigue and energy in
the building. And if the sport pulls you in, you may feel the energy yourself. One reason for this
energy is the sheer excitement of a fight. Another reason, and possibly the reason for the
excitement, is the complexity of the sport of MMA. At first glance of an uninformed eye, the
UFC literally looks like an unorganized street fight in an octagon shaped cage. Upon spending a
small amount of time openly watching a single fight, one will begin to recognize the commonly
referred chess like precision of a fight. This is possibly the most important reason I feel this sport is

Essay On Getting Organized For Divorce
Getting Organized for Divorce
A divorce is an emotional, stressful, and exhausting time in a couple s life. The dissolution of a
marriage, when paired with attempting to understand the legal process of a divorce, is
overwhelming and confusing for most individuals. Although this is a difficult time, each party must
try to set emotions aside and prepare for each phase of the divorce process.
In any divorce, there are a number of issues that must be resolved. Property must be divided, and
custody and visitation with the couple s children must be arranged. Will alimony be paid? Will the
divorce proceed on a fault based ground, or is one spouse accusing the other of causing the divorce?
Each party must consider the claims and defenses in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, many individuals become blinded by their emotions, and make irrational decisions
during this time that damage their case. If you are going through a divorce, make sure to follow
these tips.
Listen to your divorce attorney. Your attorney s job is to offer objective, rational advice throughout
the case. If your attorney says that certain actions should or should not be taken, follow that advice.
Do not play games. When your spouse s attorney asks for certain documents during the case, or
seeks certain information, do not pretend that you do not have it or cannot get it. Such behavior is
not tolerated well by judges.
Remain honest throughout the divorce process. You may be held in contempt of court or be
ordered to pay your spouse s attorneys fees if you are caught lying during sworn testimony or in
notarized statements.
You must be open with your attorney. If you made mistakes during the marriage, own up to them so
that your attorney may prepare accordingly. Your attorney does not want to find out that you had an
affair during a court proceeding.
Similarly, stay in touch with your attorney and keep your attorney informed as to issues you and
your spouse discuss so that your attorney may take appropriate action when

Contributions Of Julius Caesars
First triumvirate In 59 BC, two of the wealthiest men in Rome agreed to invest in Julius Caesar.
Crassus and Pompey, who despised each other, liked imperium and success more. After having
cleansed the Mediterranean from pirates and Mithridates in a sixth of the expected time allotted
to him by the Senate, Pompey returned with ships and soldiers. He demanded the senate ratify
the acts of settlements he had already determined for his soldiers, but was denied again and
again. Crassus wanted relief for the bid the publicani made, tax collectors who failed to gather
the money they promised the Senate they would from foreign provinces. Caesar promised to
provide both in exchange for patronage to the consulship, as well as gaining his own chosen
provincial command to accomodate his own debts. After forfeiting his triumph, Caesar becomes
consul and provides his own land bill that accommodates veterans in Campania, fulfilling his
deal to Pompey. Caesar knew that the veterans and land owners who were profiting from his bill
were also voters. Although Pompey and Crassus were profiting immediately from their dealings

The Development Of Rural Development
3.2 Rural Development
According to Oyeleye, D.A.(1987) he defines rural development as process in which development
in social infrastructures such as better roads, water supply, electricity, schools and hospitals spreads
out from the urban centres or communities and moves into the rural villages and communities.
Abumere S.I. (2002) stated that if rural development is defined as a means to help improve the
physical, cultural, social and economic status or life of the rural people then that means that
infrastructures such as roads, clean water, electricity, telecommunication and other facilities must
be carefully planned and delivered to the rural people in a consistent manner. It doesn t matter
whether these infrastructures are built from the urban centres and move into the rural areas or vice
versa. The delivery mechanisms must be very consistent.
Inorder for any country to develope and progress both socially and economically, it must have the
necessary infrastructures that are needed to facilitate such development, in both urban and rural
areas of the country.
However studies have shown that in most developing countries, rural areas/villages are mostly
neglected therefore these rural areas don t have these basic infrastructures that are needed for
development. Therefore there is a huge demand for building infrastructures into rural areas.
That is very true for Papua New Guinea where the bulks of the population live in the rural areas.

Odysseus Punishment Essay
Punishments follow actions. Sometimes they are not always fair or well deserved, but other times
they are essential to learn right from wrong. In our society, all crimes have punishments; however,
the punishment depends on the severity of the crime. In our culture, it is important to have
consequences following deplorable actions because if there is no discipline for poor decisions it
would establish these poor decisions to be acceptable. In every confrontation there are always two
sides. In the epic, The Odyssey, written by Homer, two evident sides are that of which the suitors

As stated above, there is always more than one opinion. Although some feel Odysseus tactics
were excessive. For one thing, out of the one hundred and eight suitors total not even half of them
participated in shenanigans that kept reoccurring. Not all of them deserved to die. Many were
bystanders, but they still did not choose to leave after being warned. Antinous, the corrupt leader
of the suitors, was malicious, impolite, and disrespectful. He set the tone for the rest of the suitors
and many of the suitors followed his lead. Since they had a cruel, harsh leader the suitors also
acted like this. Lastly, the most extreme form of punishment is death. While suitors were begging
for forgiveness, Odysseus showed no mercy and slaughtered all of them. As stated above, there are
many reasons why a reader would pick either side of this argument.
Omen s are not meant to be taken lightly. Normally when one gives a warning it is best to believe
what he or she may be saying and do the right thing. In this case, the suitors had been warned to
evacuate Odysseus palace. This omen was not only to warn the suitors, but it was given to try to
protect the suitors from Odysseus s wrath. After twenty years of trying earnestly to return home,
Odysseus discovers that over one hundred men have been living in his house, drinking his wine,

The Pilgrim s Role In The New Plymouth Colonies
The Pilgrims, were an English group trying to escape religious persecution from the Church of
England, by fleeing to Holland. While in Holland, the Pilgrims received a land patent from the
Virginia Company. The Pilgrims created their own joint stock company to finance their trip to the
New World. In 1620, led by William Bradford, the Pilgrims boarded the Mayflower and set sail for
Virginia. While Virginia was their destination, a storm blow them off course and they came to land
on a place they called Plymouth. Since the Pilgrims were not in Virginia under the authority of the
Virginia Company, they considered themselves to be independent and created their own
government under the Mayflower Compact. The Mayflower Compact was the fundamental
document spelling out laws for the new Plymouth Colony. It was an agreement or covenant signed
by 41 men aboard the Mayflower. In the covenant the colonists in unity bound themselves together
by promising to abide by the new government laws to ensure protection and survival. Unlike the
colonists in Jamestown, the purpose of the Pilgrims was of a religious nature, their desire to create
a pure society under the authority of God.

Soccer Is Not A Sport Essay
Soccer is a game that millions of people around the world have enjoyed for centuries. While not the

Unfortunately much of this fandom originates from outside the United States and there is a

The Acquisition Of Language And Speech Development
The acquisition of language and speech development takes place over a period from birth to
around three years of age and in early childhood from the ages of four to six. The development is
quick and passes through similar stages in all children not depending on the language that you
acquire. The process of language developmentis therefore universal, namely the development of
sounds to words and grammar of the language (Bates and Goodman, 2001).
Critical periods of individual development stages vary but most often with only a few months term
temporal intervals (Bates and Goodman, 2001; Crain and Lillo Martin 1999). Reynell J. (1977)
separated three essential components of language expression: vocabulary, grammatical structure
and content. The development of all three components are intertwined in the process of children s
language acquisition.
Language development often proves difficult. When talking about speech disorders, the child
deviates from the others in such a way to attract the attention of the listener in a sense of his
manner of speaking, but not the content. Speech disorders may be biologically or functionally
driven. What is meant with biological speech disorders is when the disorder is caused by an
injury, illness or deficiency of speech mechanism. In other cases, there are functionally related
interferences. In the pre school period the most frequent are the following speech disorders:
babbling and stuttering, less frequently we observe delayed speech

medicine could provide great benefits for fighting illness, but it can lead to issues of
underrepresentation of race and concerns of genderin terms of drug safety and with the little that is
known right now the cost outweigh the benefits. The need for new and more effective treatment
continues to increase and personalized medicine appears to be the answer to our prayers. With
further research personalized medicine could revolutionize pharmaceuticals and to go out on a
limb even find a cure for aids and other cancers. But it is too early to have high expectations for a
sciencethat has not been deeply explored. It seems that the fantasy of finding a perfect match
treatment for each individual has raised support from many institutions including the White House
and the FDA. There have been some recent personalized medicine treatments approved by the FDA
and this has lead President Obama to bring forward the Precision Medicine Initiative (U.S. Food
and Drug Administration), which would give millions in monetary support for research to be
conducted on personalized medicine. The issue here is whether

Romanticism In Romantic Poetry
Romantic Poetry Paper
As many of us know, the Romanticism period happen during the 1800 s hundreds and finished in
the mid 1850 s. This movement is an artistic enlightenment that happen throughout Europe. The
people who took an active big role during this movement is John Keats, Percy Shelley, William
Wordsworth and many more. Numerous of their poteries talks about nature, beauty, love, death etc.
However, the major poems that really stood out to me from these three substantial poets is; She
Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways by William Wordsworth that signifies the beauties of
imagination and death. Then, ON THE GRASSHOPPER AND CRICKET by John Keatswho
elaborates the happiness of nature. Finally, Mutability by Percy Shelley that symbolises the bodies
and spirits. Therefore, these poems are very meaningful and may apply to your everyday life.
To begin with, She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways is about a young lady being admired
comparing her beauty to nature. William Wordsworth says She dwelt among the untrodden ways
Beside the springs of Dove, . Wordsworth is trying to describe how gentle and innocent she is
like nature is. Also Wordsworth adds A violet by a mossy stone Half hidden from the eye! this
quote I believe show people tend to not notice her that much but in his eyes she is still very
beautiful. Later on in his poetry the young lady is identified as Lucy who may possibly be apart of
his imagination that soon dies in the end. Wordsworth states She

Araby Coming Of Age Examples
Coming of age stories are an important subset of English literature. Araby and The Ball Poem are
both examples of such pieces. They both depict disappointment or loss in the main characters lives,
as well as the recognition that a replacement is something less than the original. In addition to this,
they show the characters thoughts changing in tone after a moment of significance in the plot.
Araby in particular shows a change in the main character due to it being a short storyrather than a
poem, and having more time to develop the characterization.
In The Ball Poem, the child, the initial subject of the poem, loses his ball and watches it bounce
all the way down into the harbor, beyond recovery. After this, the speaker tells how the boy, senses
first responsibility In a world of possessions. Through this, it is shown that the boy is growing up,
he is maturing, learning to deal with the loss of something he ... Show more content on

Often, the event of growing up is represented as a series of events and experiences, culminating
in the realization that one is a child no longer. However, some forms of literature, due to length
restrictions, are unable to show the process in full, and so will describe the initiating event,
which it is assumed will eventually lead to the subject maturing over time. One example of this
is the poem The Ball Poem, by John Berryman; do to its relatively short length, Berryman told of
the loss of the ball, which was a metaphor for innocence and childhood, and how the child would
now have to learn to deal with the loss and keep going. Araby, in comparison, is a longer text,
though still a short story, and as such is not constrained by the same length restrictions. The main
character s coming of age is, as such, shown over several events, although they are still in a very
short time span when compared to a full life of

Toy Of Maine Green Toys Inc.
Toys R Us is a distinct competitor, though it does not compete in the same niche business, so it will
be considered an indirect competitor.
How will your products or services compare with the competition? Our products will be of very
high quality, locally made, and will have minimal environmental impact. Our competitors will not
offer as in depth a commitment to the green aspect of the toys.
In the final column, estimate the importance of each competitive factor to the customer. 1 = critical;
5 = not very important.

The Little Green Toy Box is competitively at an advantage by having its own store front, being
entirely dedicated to environmentally friendliness, and by having a visually appealing store front
and product design. It is at a disadvantage since it does not have an established reputation, is low in
expertise, and does not have as broad a business presence as its competitors.
Niche
Now that you have systematically analyzed your industry, your product, your customers, and the
competition, you should have a clear picture of where your company fits into the world. In one
short paragraph, define your niche, your unique corner of the market. Our corner of the market is
the environmentally conscious families and individuals who are seeking to expand their
consciousness to all aspects of life. We are locally produced and locally sold which also appeals
to consumers who wish to support the local economy. Our company falls below the big box stores
in the hierarchy of the toy business, but our green products set us apart from the generic
competitors, and our local storefront provides an accessibility not present in our online competitors.

The Quiet American
Fallujah s End
Sunday 20th April 2004 Afghanistan.
It has not always been like this. There was once peace in this land, though peace is now naught
but a faded memory. When I first came here, i only saw the smiles of the kids in the streets just
kicking a ball or running around. Now what I see is half broken roads with half or completely
destroyed buildings with possibly invisible bombs around the roads. Instead of travelling around
this city in a taxi, I have to travel in a goddamn Humvee. 6 years ago it was, when I first landed
here in a plane, being forced to come here to negotiate with the government of Afghanistan with that
of mine, USA that is.
They call me the Mr. Negotiator as apparently I can negotiate with other people ... Show more

It was only 7 o clock. I took a cold shower, since the time I have been here in this country; I have
only taken 2 hot showers. Sure, at first it was the worst thing to do during a day, now its normal,
suited to my lifestyle.
By the chattering and shouting I heard in the morning, seems as though Chris hadn t come back
last night. That had settled my plan for today as I planned to go search the city to find him. Even
though he was different, narrow minded and wanted different things, he was still my friend in a
way, I think...
Chris s special ops team had tried to search for him all day, but still no clue as to where he would
be. As for me I had been going in around the buildings and saw one of the most horrible sights,
which I could never forget. Literally, an army of dead bodies situated in the middle of the road. If
I had remembered correctly, this had been the route I had taken to come to the air base. These
bodies were not here before. This must have happened last night. Unconsciously, I had started to
suspect Chris of being responsible for something like this.
It was close to midnight, I had searched for Chris all day. It seemed as though he s completely
disappeared. Obviously the search team would have searched this city inside out by now.
Suddenly, I had heard a loud voice, as if they had been screaming at the top of their lungs.
Hey!
I turned around to where the voice

  • 2. The Temple Of Jupiter Optimus Like the Etruscans and Greeks before them, the Romans are known for having constructed monumental temples in highly visible locations. Situated atop the Capitoline Hill in the heart of the ancient city of Rome, the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus, shared with Juno Regina, and Minerva, represented this tradition well. Before the iconic Temple became known as the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus, the site came to symbolize Romes position as Caput Mundi, which literally means head of the world . Unfortunately, neglect, spoliation, and eventual site adaptation means that very little of the temple of Jupiter remains for us to study. Ops, Jupiter s mother, hid Jupiter away from Saturn in a place that would allow Jupiter to grow his powers without Saturn being able to find him. After he gets older, Jupiter returns home and battles Saturn, freeing his brothers and sisters in the process. The gods overthrow the titans, making Jupiter the king of the gods, Optimus Maximus. Jupiter was praised under many names at the temple on Capitoline. He was known as Jupiter Imperator, Jupiter Invictus, and Jupiter Triumphator. Jupiter Imperator meant Supreme General. Leaders would visit the temple and make sacrifices for Jupiter to lead them into battle. Jupiter Invictus meaning to be unconquerable or undefeated and Jupiter Triumphator meaning to be triumphant in battle. These three epithets of Jupiter go hand in hand with his title Jupiter Optimus Maximus. Optimus Maximus means Best and Greatest which is the only way to describe the king of the gods who is a supreme general who is undefeated and triumphant. Jupiter also was worshipped as Jupiter Victor which is pretty similar to the other epithets when it comes to battle. Before any battle, the Roman Senate would wait for Jupiter s blessing so they could achieve victory. The Romans centered their heart and soul around the worship of Jupiter and prayed that he would lead them into many successful battles like he had done with his brothers and sisters against the titans many moons ago. 3) Worshippers The temple of ... Creon was a tragic hero that was trying to be noble, but losing his entire family was extreme; he was set to fail from the start. In the play Creon decreed Polyneices was not to be buried. He did this as he believed that Polyneices was a traitor to Thebes. In his eyes this was a noble deed to do for his city that Polyneices had betrayed. If anyone undermined him and buried Polyneices then he saw them as un noble and must be dealt with at once. His downfall came as a result from him trying to be noble. Krive, from the Department of Languages at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the article, A Transcultural Monument: Anna Akhmatova in Postsocialist Russia (2009), argues that Akhmatova was a postsocialist poet, because she began producing her work at the end of Imperial Russia and throughout Soviet Russia, until her death in 1966. She believes that Akhmatova was a symbol of strength in her stand against Stalin, and subsequent persecution from his regime. Next she posits that Akhmatova achieved what many Russians could not; she was able to make a permanent record of Stalin s reign through her poetry. She emphasizes that instead of Russians internalizing the trauma, they turned to Akhmatova and regarded her as the voice of Russia. In the second half of the piece, she details the creation and collection of Akhmatova s poetry cycle Wreath for the Dead, an elegiac work. Krive discusses elements of Akhmatova s work of poetry in order to express the importance of the poet as a mouthpiece for Russia. • 15. Defining Naturalness And Its Impact On The Environment IV.Defining Naturalness Another potential, but overall less effective, goal for conservation is naturalness, which is also defined differently across the literature. Crumpacker (1998) describes three components of naturalness, two of which the author argues are quantifiable. The first part of naturalness is the degree to which the system would change if humans were removed (Crumpacker 1998). The next two components of naturalness are the amount of cultural energy that is required to maintain the currently existing system and the number of native speciesthat currently live in the system in comparison to the abundance of species that lived in the area prior to European settlement (Crumpacker 1998). Anderson (1991) describes naturalness as a continuum between complete naturalness, which would be an ecosystemvirtually unaffected by humans, and complete unnaturalness, which would be an environment that is completely influenced by humans, such as a city. This scale of naturalness is established by assessing the extent to which ecosystems have been modified by humans and how much a damaged ecosystem would recover if humans were removed (Anderson 1991). Ridder (2007) also addresses two interpretations of naturalness that are similar to the definitions proposed by Anderson (1991). One interpretation by Ridder (2007) is that naturalness refers to processes that do not involve human intervention, which is similar to the spontaneous condition of nature that would exist in the ... With the on boarding of CEO John Legere in 2012, the then small telecommunications company, skyrocketed to 73 million customers(Feloni, 2016). In 1994 T Mobile, with the name of VoiceStream Wireless PCS, was established by John Stanton. In 2011 T Mobile was in financial trouble and was looking to be purchased by AT T. The deal was struck down by the US Department of Justice because it would lessen the competition in the market. In early 2012 John Legere became CEO and the rebranding started. T Mobile then went on to acquire MetroPCS Communication in October 2012 to broaden their customer base and increase prepaid service revenue. John Legere then introduced contract free pricing in 2013 which then forced the big guys (Verizon and AT T) to follow suit. Due to their success, Sprint attempted to acquire the company in 2013 but abandoned the idea due to the fact that it was unlikely to be approved by the government (Maynes, 2017). The novel has been able to withstand the test of time without ever making it to the big screen. Now present day, with a movie of the bestselling novel coming soon, every detail must amaze the avid reader of the book. This includes: top notch lighting, a flawless director, a plethora of A list actors, outstanding scenery, and last but certainly not least, a breathtaking soundtrack. A soundtrack can completely devastate a movie. If there is a scene where a character is crying because they lost their friend, it would definitely be peculiar if the music in the background was Can t Touch This by M.C. Hammer. Soundtracks tell the audience what to feel whether it would be fear or excitement. With a soundtrack playing a critical position in a movie, the songs that have been chosen have transcended more than just the scenes they are played in, and turned into the embodiment of some of the major themes in the movie. A great selection for the opening song would be a song by Chance the Rapper called Finish Line . • 21. The World s Greatest Success Story Samsung is perhaps the world s greatest success story. Started in 1938 in Taegu, Korea by Lee Byung Chul, Samsung has sprouted from a small company under Japanese rule, into the one of the world s leaders in technology and innovation. It is a result of the Confucian principles embraced by the company and its presidents and executive decisions and eagerness to adapt to the rapidly changing world. Principles including leading honorably and with strength, emphasising the ruler subject relationship, Chun tzu, making personal relationships a priority in a business setting, in addition to keeping accordance with Jen,a warm heartedness and compassion that allows to one to want to better humanity (Lander). In addition to Confucianism, Samsung has learned to innovate, create demand, and learn from other companies successes and failures. With this combination of old world Confucian principles and the ability to diversify and evolve, Samsung has experienced intense growth and success, beating out Apple and Panasonic and gaining a foothold in the digital age(Park and Barjot). According to Park and Barjot, Samsung s success came from two areas: Confucian ethics instilled into Samsung s workforce and strong executive leadership, specifically LeeByung Chul and to a lesser degree Kun Hee Lee. Lee Byung Chul, the founder of Samsung, came from an upper class family of landlord and due to this, Lee was able to receive a strong Confucian education in his youth, which taught him ... • 22. The Main Forces That Transitioned Europe Toward Modernity Ngo Humanities 4314 Midterm: October 12, 2014 Isser Woloch suggests that the key forces that transitioned Europe toward modernity are associated with four different developments which coincided with and reinforced each other in final decades of the eighteenth century: (1) rising population; (2) increased agricultural productivity; (3) a vast increase in commerce, particularly in the exploitation of their colonies by Britain and France; and (4) the expansion of textile manufacturing and the beginnings of its structural transformation in England (113). Population Growth Prior to the Europe s sustained growth, Europe struggled as far as keeping growth steady flowing; with that being said, as growth of population would reach its exponential, the population would shortly reach a downfall. The result of contagious diseases, crop failure, and the aftermath of war such as the Thirty Years War had altogether been the cause of a depopulated community. The fluctuation of population may be seen when one looks at the sixteenth century and the seventeenth century; for example, sixteenth century Europe had a rise in population while seventeenth century Europe suffered a significant decline in numbers for population. Europe s population suffered a downfall when the prices of grain and flour had risen following the law of supply and demand; facing the wraths of high prices and short supply, people would soon become undernourished and starving, possibly trying to fend off hunger by ... • 23. The War Of Abraham Lincoln The 1860 s was a time when the world was facing one of the bloodiest war in history. One of the reasons for the war was the election of Abraham Lincoln. South Caroline issued the Declaration of the Causes of Secession because they believed Lincoln was anti slaver (Bartels). However during the most consequential period in American history, on November 1860 Abraham Lincolnwas elected as the sixteenth president of the United Statesand the first Republican President. As the commander in chief the union army, Lincoln needed to bring an end to the war and reunite the nation. On November 19, 1863 Abraham Lincoln gave one of the most inspirational wartime speeches at the Gettysburg National Cemetery. The Gettysburg Addressevoked a sense of unity into the American citizens and human equality, which was greatly needed at that time. Lincoln s prerogative was to acknowledge the values our founding fathers had, honor the human sacrifices and remind the citizen of the optimistic purpose of war. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in humble surroundings, a one room log cabin with dirt floors in Kentucky. Coming from a farmer family Lincoln had no access to a formal education, so he self educated himself from the basics of English to the complicated language of law. Eventually he became a self taught Illinois lawyer and a great speaker. Lincoln s family didn t believe in the idea of slavery so he too grew up finding it frightful (History.com). • 24. Connotation In Cry The Beloved Country The author uses the word forlorn, used on page 35 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the sentence About you there is grass and bracken and you may hear the forlorn crying of the Titihoya, one of the birds of the veld. Below you is the valley of the Umzimkulu , instead of the word sorrowful even though both mean unhappy because forlorn gives more of negative connotation and better describes the setting. This is appropriate in this context because the village of Umzimkulu is put in a state of abandonment and social instability. Residents are part of a conglomerate which pertains to abuse and racial discrimination. This word effectively shows the message of prejudice shown by Paton. The author uses the word deteriorate, used on page 179 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the sentence But it was not permissible to watch its destruction, and to replace it by nothing, or by so little, that a whole people deteriorates, physically and morally , instead of the word decline even though both mean to become worse progressively. Paton uses this word because it gives a negative connotation that is prevalent throughout the book. Deterioration is a good word to use to describe the state of the tribal system within Umzimkulu. The social stability that is prevalent between residents of Umzimkulu is falling apart or deteriorating. It shows that the South African social structure is falling as a whole. The author uses the word voiceless, used on page 110 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the sentence others say this is a danger, for better paid labour will not only buy more but will also read more, think more, ask more, and will not be content to be forever voiceless and inferior , instead of the word silent even though they both mean not speaking. The author uses the word voiceless because it describes the state of black South Africans during the time of racial prejudice and apartheid. Paton uses this word to give a tone that blacks had no voice during the time. Like Kumalo and Absalom, they are taken advantage of by whites and as a result, one is in a state of sorrow while another has become promiscuous due to prejudice. In a matter of two short years, it has gone from an underground spectacle with evolving rules and standards to a recognized sport with a mass fan following comparable in number to professional wrestling in the В‘80s and В‘90s. The demand the sport has on a fighter s body and the endless time devoted to training that a fighter must endure have solidified the UFC s place as a serious contender for the newest, world recognized sport. The excitement and electricity felt by fans viewing the fight live and by those at home make the UFC, in my opinion, the best sport in the United States today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Set aside the physical demands of conditioning, a fight lasts as short as a one punch knock out to the full fifteen to twenty minute battle. Twenty minutes of being punched in the face, kicked in the ribs legs and face, getting body slammed onto the wooden mat, and being choked until submission or loss of consciousness would toughen a human far more than the toll a body takes in any other sport. Another factor that is somewhat overlooked is the effect fans have on a sport and its events. With a truly passionate group of fans, a sport can really excel. The quick growth of the UFC fan base may cause the opposition to question the true loyalty and passion of the fans of the UFC. Just watching an event live, however, you can really see the intrigue and energy in the building. And if the sport pulls you in, you may feel the energy yourself. One reason for this energy is the sheer excitement of a fight. Another reason, and possibly the reason for the excitement, is the complexity of the sport of MMA. At first glance of an uninformed eye, the UFC literally looks like an unorganized street fight in an octagon shaped cage. The Development Of Rural Development 3.2 Rural Development According to Oyeleye, D.A.(1987) he defines rural development as process in which development in social infrastructures such as better roads, water supply, electricity, schools and hospitals spreads out from the urban centres or communities and moves into the rural villages and communities. Abumere S.I. (2002) stated that if rural development is defined as a means to help improve the physical, cultural, social and economic status or life of the rural people then that means that infrastructures such as roads, clean water, electricity, telecommunication and other facilities must be carefully planned and delivered to the rural people in a consistent manner. It doesn t matter whether these infrastructures are built from the urban centres and move into the rural areas or vice versa. The delivery mechanisms must be very consistent. Inorder for any country to develope and progress both socially and economically, it must have the necessary infrastructures that are needed to facilitate such development, in both urban and rural areas of the country. However studies have shown that in most developing countries, rural areas/villages are mostly neglected therefore these rural areas don t have these basic infrastructures that are needed for development. Lastly, the most extreme form of punishment is death. While suitors were begging for forgiveness, Odysseus showed no mercy and slaughtered all of them. The Acquisition Of Language And Speech Development The acquisition of language and speech development takes place over a period from birth to around three years of age and in early childhood from the ages of four to six. The development is quick and passes through similar stages in all children not depending on the language that you acquire. The process of language developmentis therefore universal, namely the development of sounds to words and grammar of the language (Bates and Goodman, 2001). Critical periods of individual development stages vary but most often with only a few months term temporal intervals (Bates and Goodman, 2001; Crain and Lillo Martin 1999). Reynell J. The research of personalized medicine is new and costly but that is not the only setback this new science must face. • 41. Araby Coming Of Age Examples Coming of age stories are an important subset of English literature. Araby and The Ball Poem are both examples of such pieces. They both depict disappointment or loss in the main characters lives, as well as the recognition that a replacement is something less than the original. In addition to this, they show the characters thoughts changing in tone after a moment of significance in the plot. Araby in particular shows a change in the main character due to it being a short storyrather than a poem, and having more time to develop the characterization. In The Ball Poem, the child, the initial subject of the poem, loses his ball and watches it bounce all the way down into the harbor, beyond recovery. After this, the speaker tells how the boy, senses first responsibility In a world of possessions. Through this, it is shown that the boy is growing up, he is maturing, learning to deal with the loss of something he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Often, the event of growing up is represented as a series of events and experiences, culminating in the realization that one is a child no longer. However, some forms of literature, due to length restrictions, are unable to show the process in full, and so will describe the initiating event, which it is assumed will eventually lead to the subject maturing over time. One example of this is the poem The Ball Poem, by John Berryman; do to its relatively short length, Berryman told of the loss of the ball, which was a metaphor for innocence and childhood, and how the child would now have to learn to deal with the loss and keep going. Araby, in comparison, is a longer text, though still a short story, and as such is not constrained by the same length restrictions. The main character s coming of age is, as such, shown over several events, although they are still in a very short time span when compared to a full life of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Little Green Toy Box is competitively at an advantage by having its own store front, being entirely dedicated to environmentally friendliness, and by having a visually appealing store front and product design. It is at a disadvantage since it does not have an established reputation, is low in expertise, and does not have as broad a business presence as its competitors. Niche Now that you have systematically analyzed your industry, your product, your customers, and the competition, you should have a clear picture of where your company fits into the world. • 43. The Quiet American Fallujah s End Sunday 20th April 2004 Afghanistan. It has not always been like this. There was once peace in this land, though peace is now naught but a faded memory. When I first came here, i only saw the smiles of the kids in the streets just kicking a ball or running around. Now what I see is half broken roads with half or completely destroyed buildings with possibly invisible bombs around the roads. Instead of travelling around this city in a taxi, I have to travel in a goddamn Humvee. 6 years ago it was, when I first landed here in a plane, being forced to come here to negotiate with the government of Afghanistan with that of mine, USA that is. They call me the Mr. Negotiator as apparently I can negotiate with other people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was only 7 o clock. I took a cold shower, since the time I have been here in this country; I have only taken 2 hot showers. Sure, at first it was the worst thing to do during a day, now its normal, suited to my lifestyle. By the chattering and shouting I heard in the morning, seems as though Chris hadn t come back last night. That had settled my plan for today as I planned to go search the city to find him. Even though he was different, narrow minded and wanted different things, he was still my friend in a way, I think... Chris s special ops team had tried to search for him all day, but still no clue as to where he would be. As for me I had been going in around the buildings and saw one of the most horrible sights, which I could never forget. Literally, an army of dead bodies situated in the middle of the road. If I had remembered correctly, this had been the route I had taken to come to the air base. These bodies were not here before. This must have happened last night. Unconsciously, I had started to suspect Chris of being responsible for something like this. It was close to midnight, I had searched for Chris all day. It seemed as though he s completely disappeared. Obviously the search team would have searched this city inside out by now. Suddenly, I had heard a loud voice, as if they had been screaming at the top of their lungs. Hey! I turned around to where the voice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
