Analgesima Essay
Analgesics
Pain control is essential to quality patient care. Otitis externa can be quite painful, and patients
frequently request analgesics. These agents ensure patient comfort and may have sedating properties.
Inexpensive, simple non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce inflammation and
irritation and can be paired with opiates to improve pain symptoms. In some cases, systemic
analgesics are helpful before ear cleaning or wick placement (27,20).
Oral and intravenous antibiotics
Most persons with OE do not require oral medications. Oral antibiotics are generally reserved for
patients with fever, immunosuppression, diabetes, adenopathy, or an infection extending outside the
ear canal. They should be given to individuals with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Occasionally an abscess forms in the ear canal; this usually occurs in cases of OE caused by S. aureus
(6). Treatment of the abscess is often accomplished by means of a simple incision and drainage
procedure using a needle or a small blade.
Long term monitoring
For a patient of OE with debris, a suctioning of the EAC on a weekly basis is required until debris has
been removed. Patients must be monitored to ensure complete resolution of OE. Even in mild cases,
follow up is important for evaluating the response to treatment. A follow up visit 1 week after starting
treatment is usually adequate (3).
(d) Prognosis
Most incidents of OE resolve without difficulty. The majority of patients improve within 48 72 hours
of antibiotic administration. Failure to improve within 2 3 days should call the diagnosis into question
and prompt the physician to reevaluate the patient. Otitis externa usually resolves fully in 7 10 days
(3). Resolution of eczematoid OE occurs with control of the primary skin condition. In some patients,
OE can cause severe otalgia necessitating administration of narcotic pain relievers. Pain usually
improves 2 5 days after initiating therapy (27). Temporary hearing loss is common secondary to canal
occlusion. Severe infections may cause cellulitis or lymphadenitis of the face or neck. If left untreated,
the infection may invade the deeper adjacent structures and progress to necrotizing (malignant)

Compartmentalization In Eukaryotic Cells Essay
1. Explain the advantages of compartmentalization in eukaryotic cells.
Compartmentalization provides advantages in Eukaryotic cells because it provides the optimal
environment for different metabolic functions. So many metabolic functions can happen inside one
cell.
2. Explain how the nucleus controls protein synthesis in the cytoplasm.
The nucleus creates mRNA and the mRNA goes through the nuclear pores into the cytoplasm. The
mRNA is transcribed the from the DNA. Once the mRNA enters the cytoplasm it is translated by
ribosomes, than the corresponding amino acids come and form proteins.
3. List the components of the endomembrane system, and describe the structure and functions of each
component.
Nuclear Envelope, is composed of two main layers and has many channels. It surrounds the nucleus.
Endoplasmic Reticulum, is a tubular network fused to nuclear membrane that goes through the
cytoplasm into the cell membrane. It separates, sorts, and serves as the cells transport system. The
smooth ER does not have ribosomes compared to the rough ER that does have ribosomes.

The Bronze David By Donatello Of The Early Renaissance
The Bronze David by Donatello of the Early Renaissance shows a subtle transition through style and
form to the High Renaissance when compared to the marble David by Michelangelo. Yet a similar
Renaissance interpretation of the character of David is seen in both pieces. Donatello s David
embodies the humanism and classicism of the Italian Renaissance, and pioneers styles that would
influence a generation. The perfection of David by Michelangelo creates a similar allusion to
humanism and classical form while indicating Donatello s lasting influence and inserting neoplatonic
ideas of the High Renaissance. Through his Bronze David, 1430, Donatello documents a biblical
character in a form that captures the ideals of the Italian Renaissance. The five foot and two inch piece
recreates the moment after the human hero David slays Goliath whose head lies at his feet. The
structure, Figure 1, not only celebrates the use of human wit and potential, but David s nudity
emphasizes the human body s physical grace. In addition, the figure s bareness is accentuated by the
calf length boots and large hat. The use of the free standing style allows the human form to be
appreciated at every angle. This quintessential instance of human heroism is documented by the artist
and articulated by the sculpture with an air of nonchalance. The poetic and heroic indifference and self
satisfaction expressed in Donatello s David is classified as sprezzatura. Sprezzatura is the idyllic
attitude of a human

Character Foils In Vaclav And Lena
In the novel Vaclav and Lena, Haley Tanner employs the use of many character foils. Characters are
placed into similar roles and the behavior of one character accentuates the traits of another, more
major character. This is particularly prominent among the women who act as Lena s guardians. Two of
the most important women in Lena s life are Radoslava and Rasia. Radoslava Dvorakovskaya is an
elderly woman who Lena lives with when she is very young. Radoslava passes away and Lena moves
in with her aunt. In her new neighborhood, she meets a boy named Vaclav and his mother, Rasia, who
quickly becomes a guardian of Lena as well. Radoslava is a foil for Rasia because while both serve as
maternal figures for Lena, Radoslava s failures as a caring guardian highlight Rasia s devotion and
kindness.
Radoslava s self centeredness calls attention to Rasia s attentiveness. Radoslava s actions make it clear
that she considers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Radoslava is quick to yell at Lena, saying, Yelena! I am old and I am dying, and you have ruined my
last years of peace (169). Radoslava blames Lena for everything and considers her to be a stain on her
life. Radoslava does not fulfill her role as a kind maternal figure in this case as she makes it very clear
that she does not want to be in this situation. On the other hand, Rasia and her son Vaclav enjoys
helping Lena and consider it a blessing rather than a burden. They are more than willing to meet Lena
and become acquainted with her, both of them knowing that they were doing something nice (68).
Rasia and Vaclav find pleasure in knowing that they are doing a good deed. Unlike Radoslava, Rasia
is unconditionally caring. Radoslava only does things for her own good and the moment things get
difficult she immediately pushes the responsibility onto Lena. The way Radoslava treats Lena serves
as a harsh contrast to the way that Rasia willingly takes on the burden of acting like a mother for

The Splatterhouse Video
Before watching the clips, I was feeling content. I was not frustrated with anything or anyone, I was
calm and I just watched a few funny videos, which brought my mood up even more. During the first
video, immediately, my thoughts were about the quality of the animation and the story line. As for the
violence, I didn t like looking at it. I tried to turn away a few times. I think that there was an excessive
amount of gore that could have been easily cut out, but it wasn t, because the viewers or the gamers
like it.
The second video was a lot worse in my opinion. The Splatterhouse video had some sort of story line
beside the gore, but this video only showed a first point view of a person killing people in many
different ways. Because of the quality of the video, I didn t actually see anything too graphic, but just
the idea of people enjoying this game made me a little scared for our society.
During the third video, I thought about how believable the scenes were. The lighting ... Show more

watch the actual movie, because of the violent scenes that I would have to watch. Though I had almost
no interest in these videos and found most of the scenes repulsive, I caught myself on the thought that
by the time I was watching the fourth video, I got used to the violence portrayed in these videos. If the
first video made me want to turn away from the screen, the last video had no effect on me at all. I
believe that this explains the mere exposure theory. The only thing I did was sit and watch a few clips,

Minor Client Challenges
Ethical and Legal Challenges When Counseling Minors Working with minor clients can be extremely
challenging because of the grey areas surrounding ethical and legal issues. Two major challenges
when working with minor clients are confidentiality and reporting suspected child abuse or neglect.
There are actions taken by counselors to provide the best possible care for the minor client, while
maintaining a therapeutic relationship. As a future counselor, I am aware I will encounter challenges
pertaining to confidentiality and abuse/ neglect, however I understand the need to make an ethical
decision and use the ACA Code Of Ethics to guide me through the journey.

It is essential to work with the parents or guardians of the minor child to have the greatest success in
counseling. Educating and bringing awareness to the minor child and their parents/guardians about
confidentiality is key. The counselor should state clear and precise roles each the counselor, parent,
and child plays in the therapeutic process (Herlihy Corey, 2015). Counselor can be guided through this
process by using the ACA Code of Ethics Standard A.2.d, which states the counselor acknowledges
the need to balance between the parent/guardian and the minor child. A counselor acknowledges this
code with respect for Standard B.5.d, which states a counselor respects inherent rights and
responsibilities of the parent/guardian over the welfare of the minor client (Remley Herlihy, 2014). It
is necessary for counselors to encourage open communication with parents/guardians. The counselor

Analysis Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde By Robert Lewis Stevenson
As the cities in the nineteenth century grew and expanded, more and more people moved from the
countryside to said cities. With an increase in the size and population of the city a individual s
anonymity increased as well. Both the Paris Morgue and the novella Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde written
by Robert Lewis Stevenson portray the anonymity of modern city life. While middle class men often
appreciated the anonymity of the city, because it allowed them to escape social class restrictions, they
also feared some of the negative implications. The working class, on the other hand, might have
enjoyed the new found entertainment options, however they also had to fear being victims of crime
and ending as nameless corpses. Women, both from the middle class and working class, experienced
more freedom through the entertainment and leisure time options available due to the anonymous
character of the city. For the middle class man the anonymity of the city promised freedom from social
restrictions, that hindered him from behaving in ways that were unseeming for a man of his standing.
In his novella Stevenson writes about a wealthy middle class doctor, Dr. Henry Jekyll, who through a
potion, could turn himself into a different person. This second personality of his being called Edward
Hyde. Mr. Hyde represents the more sinister and evil part of Jekyll s personality, which had been split
after he first took his potion. Before making his potion Jekyll often had desires that were not

The far majority who invest in the stock market or a type of security hope that their investment
escalates in value or price. However, others execute investments based on the opposite taking place;
they hope that the price of the security declines. These investors are practicing short selling.
Numerous renowned examples of short selling exist, one of which, the shorting of mortgage backed
securities during the real estate bubble in 2008. A number of critics find short selling unethical while
others feel it necessary to maintain a balance in the market. According to Nasdaq, short selling can be

In the 1980s, investments banks such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, and
Morgan Stanley started selling mortgage bonds. Mortgage bonds were a collection of thousands of
home mortgages, purchased from lenders, and their associated income streams (monthly payment). To
address the fact that some homeowners often refinance their debt when interest rates are low which
prematurely pays off the debt, mortgage bonds were stacked into layers called tranches . The lowest
tranche represented mortgages to be paid off early, and the highest layer was the last mortgages to be
paid off. Then, in the 1990s, bonds were created consisting of subprime mortgages, which were higher
risk mortgages with high interest rates, made to borrowers with lower credit levels. Essentially, banks
were handing out mortgages like candy to consumers who were never going to be able to make the
payments, but Wall Street kept buying and packaging the mortgages into bonds. Since these bonds
were inherently riskier, one wonders why investors were still willing to buy. Investors, who look at
ratings by agencies such as Moodys and Standard Poors, had no reason to believe these bonds were
risky investments. The agencies, whom were being paid by Wall Street, were assigning high ratings to
these risky bonds. Que the creation of the Collateralized Debt Obligation (CDO). CDOs bundled the

Essay about The Massacre in El Mozote as Told by Mark Danner
The Massacre at El Mozote as told by Mark Danner takes place El Salvador. El Salvador is the

The Fate of Women in The Birthmark Essay
The Fate of Women in The Birthmark
Wilson Sullivan in Nathaniel Hawthorne in New England Men of Letters states that Nathaniel
Hawthorne s tale, The Birthmark, depicts the efforts of a deranged scientist to obtain total perfection
in his wife by removal of a facial blemish. In this story the scientist operates on the superficial level of
the physical world, while the woman, the truly heroic woman, functions on the level of the heart and
soul, the more significant level. She it is who in her virtue provides for the reader an example to live
by, even though she loses her life in the process. This essay hopes to explore the status, role, attitude
toward women and other such issues.

The wife s virtue leads her onward and upward; the husband s lack thereof and inability to appreciate
virtue in his Georgiana leads him downward and downward.
Even after Aylmer has persuaded a beautiful woman to become his wife, he is not capable of loving
her properly, unselfishly, because he had devoted himself, however, too unreservedly to scientific
studies ever to be weaned from them by any second passion. The narrator seeks to justify this error or
lack in Aylmer by explaining that it was not unusual for the love of science to rival the love of woman
in its depth and absorbing energy. Already at the outset of the tale, the reader perceives that Georgiana
is going to be shortchanged in this marriage. She is exposed to the problem initially when her husband
asks whether it never occurred to you that the mark upon your cheek might be removed? Aylmer is in
quest of physical perfection in his wife; unfortunately he discounts her inner, spiritual value so clearly
manifested in her comment: ``To tell you the truth it has been so often called a charm that I was
simple enough to imagine it might be so. In using the word simple she is being honest and not

Seasonal Affective Disorder Essay
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is a common problem of people living in northern United States.
People who are affected by this disorder commonly suffer from depression, lethargy, inability to
concentrate, overeating and weight gain. People from the north tend to suffer more from this disorder
because of the shortened days. It appears, that due to the deficiency of sunlight some people suffer
from these symptoms. The shortened days have a hormonal effect on the body that causes these
symptoms, and the use of artificial sunlight is the best way to relieve the disorder. It was not until
recently that SAD was discovered. It was discovered by

The findings were that melatonin levels were greatly decreased. The decline in melatonin usually
happens in the early morning, but in a SAD patient this does not occur until about two hours later. In
order to suppress the levels the patient needs to be exposed to sunlight. It is found, that when the
patient is exposed to the light there is a significant decrease in depression and the craving for
carbohydrates. It is not known if SAD is directly caused by melatonin. We are still not sure what is the
direct cause for the depression of SAD. We do know why people who suffer from SAD crave
carbohydrates. Serotonin is the chemical that regulates a person s appetite for carbohydrate rich foods.
A patient who suffers from SAD, and is given an artificial shot of serotonin called d fenfluramine
leads to a decrease in stress induced eating (Scientific American 1986). In each person blood stream
we have a hormone known as trypton that is a derivative of serotonin. When it enters the central
nervous system and reaches a group of cells called raphe nucli it is converted into serotonin. The
amount of trypton in the blood is increased when carbohydrates are consumed. This may explain why
many people who suffer from SAD have an increase their intake of carbohydrates. In testing results it
patients who suffer from SAD when given an 800 calorie, high carbohydrate meal (six cookies), they
reported feeling vigorous and energized

Cities of Salt by Abdul Rahman Munif
Short Essay The Post Colonial Arabic Novel Cities of Salt Cities of Salt has often been read as at once
an elegy for a disfigured space and society, and a chronicle of its transformation. How does Munif
represent the encounter with and effects of global capital and its arrival? How are tradition, traditional
social ties on the one hand, and the encounter with the foreign other represented? What are the
limitations and potential problems of attempting to write such a work? Elaborate! Abdelrahman
Munif, a Jordanian born Saudi novelist, wrote a novel called Cities of Salt . It is a monumental novel
that tells the story of the discovery of oil. Encountering the vicious arrival of the global, political and

Munif described the migration of the villagers as their traditional lands are destroyed, and their way of
living is thrown into disarray by the foreigners Americans, through invasion of modern technology,
cultural gaps, and a whole new bunch of the local economy. He has exercised an unconventional

Telemachus Treatment Of Women In The Odyssey
In Homer s The Odyssey Penelope is shown to uphold the patriarchal Greek societal values. Penelope,
Odysseus wife and the queen of Ithaca, is often overshadowed and ruled by people that have less
authority. In the beginning, there is a gathering at the palace. A bard begins to sing and Penelope starts
to sob after being reminded of Troy. Telemachus immediately steps in and orders his mother to go up
to her room and tells her that he is the man of the house now, saying, So mother, go back to your
quarters, tend to your own tasks...I hold the reigns of power in this house (Homer 89). When
Telemachus says I hold the reins of power in this house Homer is revealing that Telemachus has the

Telemachus exclaims that he has the power, he further illustrates how he has power over his mother
because he is a male in a male dominated society. Additionally, he has direct control over his mother
despite the fact that she is older. Penelope is cast aside and dominated by her son and conforms to the
patriarchal values, despite plotting schemes against some of the men. She upholds the Greek values, as
her role as a woman is clearly defined, as shown through how she does what Telemachus tells her to
do and does not come between the males problems and affairs. Another instance in which Penelope
upholds the patriarchal Greek values is in The Penelopiad, an account of The Odyssey, which shows
the events of The Odyssey in the eyes of Penelope. In the beginning, Odysseus and Telemachus kill
the maids, Penelope was mentioned to had slept through the mayhem because she had been given a
drug by Eurycleia to keep her out of the action and stop her from interfering. To further ensure that
Penelope does not get in the way of the killing of the maids, Odysseus made sure that all the women
were locked securely into the women s quarter , including Penelope.

Joe And Edna Rhetorical Analysis
1. The premise of JOE AND EDNA is that Joe s inability to see past his wife s plea to strike for a
better wage proves the huge misbalance of corporations and the common folk although the main
argument is the disparity in hope. Edna urges that there is no money but solely for rent. You got two
blondie kids...they need food and clothes (Odets 9). Joe believes that this is all they can achieve at the
moment, that even if he were to rise above, it could ultimately backfire. We re averaging six seven

2. There is a yin yang effect portrayed with Joe and Edna. The yin is known as dark and negative
while the yang is a representation of light and positivity. How do they fit into these symbols? It is
noted throughout the entire vignette that darkness surrounds and clouds Joe s judgment, ultimately
making him weak. He portrays qualities of someone who is defeated and unwilling to change. Edna
represents that light/change and is the more positive character. Her strength and willingness to see
through the conflict is what ultimately helps them come to a resolution. Both characters complement
each other much like the yin and yang, channeling their energy to create harmony in their lives. 3. The
most important issue brought in the episode is the division amongst the working class and capitalists.
It is quoted that times are bad, (Odets 8) and if Joe could get another job he would. Edna makes an
argument to further stress this division by saying your boss is making suckers outo you boys (Odets
10), as a way to say that his superiors don t care about him or his family. Competition amongst
workers during the great depression enabled the reduction in wages or has Edna states, they ll push
you down to three and four a week before you know it (Odets 10). This dialogue is what would
ultimately make a reader understand that if you didn t fight for a better wage, a business would
ultimately decide your fate. Companies aren t in business to pay your expenses but only to make a
profit. Edna quotes, the world was supposed to be for all of us (10). It is heavily implied that
communism is denounced to anyone who suggests that businesses should be in favor of the working
class. Edna tries to instill the idea that what was happening to their family was morally wrong and that
change is needed for their sake and for others.

Humility In The Early Christian Community
One major issue that the early Christian community is the idea of humility. They had a major problem
with just putting trust in the Lord and listening what the Bible says. My brothers, do let us have a little
humility; let us forget our self assertion and braggadocio and stupid quarreling, and do what he Bible
tells us instead. (p 28). This passage from The First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians, shows that
it is extremely important to just listen to the Bible and stop trying to figure out and do everything
ourselves. This is impossible and I believe that is what Clement was trying to tell the Corinthians.
Another issue that the early Christian community had was straying from the Church Manual that was
talked about in The Didache.

Executive Summary
Fruitvale s core management problem is the low performance due to an unacceptable long turnaround

major competitor Golden Gate. The operating performance needs to be improved by eradicating the
bottleneck in Underwriting. This will be achieved by restructuring and simplifying the process.

An UT will therefore underwrite two requests. After underwriting both each team member will rate
one of the two requests. It is important that the DCs distribute similar requests in terms of rating time
to one certain UT. Due to the fusion of step two and three 25% (time savings in writing and getting
into the case) or more of rating time will be saved. In order to stay within a save margin we reduced
the weighted average rating time by 25% and added this to the weighted average time of underwriting.
We divided the weighting time of the first request lying on the desk while the second is being
processed on both requests. In average 12 requests will be processed by the UTs every 109.6 minutes.
Every 54.8 minutes (109.6/2 min) 6 requests can be processed by the policy writing department.
Hence the average service rate in step two and three is the same. This would also increase productivity
by decreasing queuing time.
Including all these changes our calculations lead to a TAT of 3:53 hours (see Apendix)
We will not set priorities on certain products (RUNs, RERUNs, RAPs, RAINs). We will rather
implement FIFO for all products, independent of the profit generated. In order to motivate the
employees to do so Salary/Plus can set incentives by rewarding an increase of the weighted average
time needed to process a request. This is also a very fair solution with regard to the clients.

Essay On The Effect Of Precipitation On Black Bears
The question I chose for my inquiry research project was How will change in precipitation affect black
bears and brown bears in British Columbia? . I think that in 1000 years bears will still be able to
survive. In British Columbia, there are two main ways that precipitation will change. One, annual
average rainfall will go up every century by about 12% [1], and two, the intensity and frequency of
droughts will increase [2]. It is predicted that, from 2070 2099, the average amount of precipitation
falling on the wettest day of the year will go up by about 20% as compared to 1971 2000, and that the
annual maximum number of consecutive dry days will go up by 20 30% [2]. While this means we will
be getting a wetter winter, spring, and autumn, we will be getting a dryer summer [2]. The predicted

predicted droughts will likely have a large effect on the bears food sources. Droughts can warm river

Starting Blocks In The 1920s
Did you know that in 2009 when Usain Bolt broke the world record for the 100 meters his reaction
time was .146 seconds! Meaning that without using starting blocks this world record of 9.58 seconds
would have became a meager 9.726 seconds placing him second behind Tyson Gay who ran 9.71
seconds. The blocks are an intricate part of any modern track and field race from the indoor 60 meter
sprint to the outdoor 400 meters. Since their creation in the late 1920s the starting blocks have been
involved in a countless number of world records and have influenced the outcome of many races.
Introduced to the world of athletics in the late 1920s by 2 American coaches track and field began to
slowly revolutionize its way of thinking. In 1929, Charlie Booth was recognized as the inventor of the
starting blocks. However, due to a wide criticism of the blocks being an unfair use of technology
which gave athletes an unfair advantage the blocks didn t get any race time. Eventually, after
numerous patents by Bresnahan an American inventor and many meaningless records set ... Show

Starting blocks are very simple with a middle rail with 2 pedals or pads on either side that can be
adjusted for each runner. They also supply a momentum advantage for each athlete competing. The 2
main types of blocks used in the modern era are high and low blocks. Throughout the 1960s to the late
1970s the low blocks were created and were supposed to generate more force throughout the calf
muscle which in return gave off a greater amount of force produced. Also, allowing for more
acceleration as the hip space permits greater spacing for the feet. Compared to the high blocks which
were introduced in the 1980s to the 1990s were slimmer and adjustable creating additional force and
take off power for the athlete. Throughout the years many have changed from high to low blocks and

ESPN Summary
Travis Vogan made it practically impossible for me not to consider aiming for a job in ESPN. Reading
this book just felt like I jumped into a time machine and got to watch the complete process of how the
Entertainment and Sports Programing Network got where it is today. I truly adored this book even
though it felt like I was reading a long list of order of events, the information was informative and
interesting as Vogan pulled me in with his strong and obvious theme of Power. Throughout the whole
book he just keeps explaining how ESPN wanted more and more power over the sports, the fans and
other networks. Also after reading and fully comprehending Vogan s use of a 3rd person s point of
view, I can interpret that he was telling a story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Making of a Sports Media Empire . An empire is a group of nations or people ruled over by an
emperor, empress, or other powerful sovereign or government. In this case the group of people would
be the sports junkies and the powerful sovereign would be ESPN. Sports fans look at ESPN as a
lifestyle; an escape from real world problems. As for me being a sports fan, ESPN is my hero because
I can always count on them for keeping me updated on what is happening in sports industry as a
whole. For example, the ESPN app sends me notifications of game results and even breaking news on
various sports. ESPN has an invisible power and control over millions and maybe billions of people.
This book definitely highlights the business of broadcasting in the sports industry. Vogan does not just
mention ESPN but also mentions other networks that could be a great to get into with the sports

Pros And Cons Of Scrambling Africa And The Aftermath
Scrambling Africa and the Aftermath.
One common phenomenon between many nations of the world is the colony. The United States,
Canada, South Korea, Niger, India, Kenya, Australia, and the Republic of South Africa and more
shared the pros and cons of colonial systems. They are all former colonies to the extent that India,
Nigeria, South Africa, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand are members of the Commonwealth, they
are former colonies of the United Kingdom and they all continue to concede the nominal leadership of
the queen.
Here we come to the limit of the commonality of the countries that we routinely put the stamp former
colonies. Since the many countries that we often put under that rubric have traversed diverse
trajectories both as colonies and former colonies, it is difficult to justify our thinking about them in
their sameness, except nominally. Because whereas Canada, the United States, and Australia are
obviously modern states with thriving economies built on intense industrialization (and South Korea,
India, and the Republic of South Africa are not far behind), few will say that Nigeria or the rest of the
former colonies in Africa either have thriving economies or can be judged modern states. What is
more, although Canada, the United States, and Australia have thriving systems of rule of law as well
as robust civil societies, in spite of the fact that many African countries are now ostensibly under
representative democracies, few will deny that they are nowhere

Bastard Out Of Carolina Essay
Bastard Out Of Carolina Pay Attention to Detail ========================= One must
consider a little history on Dorothy Allison in order to see how the directions that she takes the novel
add up. When she was 24, Allison lived in a lesbian feminist collective. The women there gave her the
confidence she needed and the ability to see the value in her own writing (Amazon.com). During this
time, she also found someone who seemed normal, yet she had experienced the same incest (Megan

The Bybee Torture Memo Essay
The Bybee Torture Memo
On August 1, 2002, Justice Jay Bybee submitted the Bybee Memo or the Torture Memo , which
describes the behavior that U.S. officials must exercise when interrogating outside of the continental
U.S. as governed by the UN Convention Against Torture. Although this memo was rendered
inoperable by the Bush Administration in 2004; for years, it gave license to American troops to inflict
cruel amounts of pain, effectively torture upon their prisoners under the label of coercive interrogation

These weaknesses, however, are minimal compared to the strengths of his argument.
Hatfield contends that torture is so fundamentally wrong that it requires no written prohibition. At the
core of morality, it is simply not acceptable. However, there are many international doctrines of peace
keeping which outright prohibit torture such as the Universal Declaration of Rights, the International
Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Geneva Convention and so on (pg. 132). He feels that as a
lawyer, he is demoralized when other lawyers seek to revisit the legality of torture. However, the
United States has submitted a document, the Bybee Memo, which enacted a law contrary to these
accepted credos of behavior and these proponents of human dignity. ...what is clearly torture by any
moral standard is not torture under American legal standards (pg. 132). So how is it that one of the
world s largest democracies, can proclaim that coercive interrogation is not torture ?
The Bybee Torture Memo was crafted by a team of lawyers with purposeful intent in response to a
CIA query. Ultimately, someone (the President) wanted assurance, that contrary to world views,
torture was in some form permissible. The memo

The Political Shift in America
The Political Shift in America It is 2014 and since the beginning of the millennium there has been a
major shift in America s political ideology and demographics, more so than in any set period of time.
America which has historically been very conservative, has started to become more liberally made
evident by the results of the last two elections. Although America s government is based on a less
centralized system and free market, Americans have seemed to start embracing things like big
government and a stricter market. Americans are also starting to think different on social issues such
as homosexuality and drug usage. America has also experienced a change in its demographics as
minorities like Asians and Hispanics continue to grow while whites are, percentage wise, starting to
make up a smaller part of Americas population. Along with a shift in ideology and change in
demographics, technology and communication has advanced greatly making the world a much more
connected place. Because of this connectivity people are also beginning to be influenced by foreign
ideas that are not familiar to most Americans such as universal healthcare. Overall, because of factors
such as foreign influences due to technology and changing demographics, America has become less
conservative and more liberal.
Conservative by definition means holding to traditional attitudes, values, and to be cautious about
change or innovation, typically in relation to politics or religion (Oxford

Comparison Of Beloved And Ceremony
Beloved, written by Toni Morrison in 1987, and Ceremony, written by Leslie Marmon Silko in 1977,
have many overlapping characteristics. The two novels discuss finding identity through culture and
the importance of tradition. Beloved tells the story of an ex slave named Sethe and her daughter
Denver. They resided in a house haunted by the ghost of Sethe s child, named Beloved. Beloved came
back to haunt the family in human form and attempted to tear the family apart. In the end, Sethe s
neighbors, who abandoned the family many years before, come back to exorcise the baby ghost and
rid the family of all of its misfortune. The title Ceremony is based on the oral traditions and the

They use stories to pass down all of their past, including history, science, religious beliefs and many
more subjects. One of the poems goes like this: Ts its tsi nako, Thought Woman, is sitting in her room
and what ever she thinks about appears. She thought of her sisters, Nau ts ity i and I tcs i, and together
they created the Universe this world and the four worlds below. Thought Woman, the spider, named
things and as she named them they appeared (Silko, page 1). This poem shows how poems pass down
the Native Americans heritage from past to future generations. This discussed how they believed the
world was created, which is part of their religion. Silko uses poems as her way of showing their oral
tradition and they are used throughout the novel. The stories represent the Native American
understanding of the world for Tayo, even though the white people tried to make him believe they
were false. He became very confused for a long time in his life, but once he begins reenacting these
stories he reconnects with his community and feels complete again. The stories take away his
loneliness because his whole community shares them because they have gone through similar
experiences. The influence that stories have on his culture is described like this, They aren t just
entertainment. Don t be fooled. They are all we have, you see, all we have to fight off illness and
death. You don t have anything if you don t have the stories. Their evil is mighty but it can t stand up
to our stories. So they try to destroy the stories let the stories be confused or forgotten (Silko, page 2).
This quote is saying that the storytelling is what is keeping the Native American tribes connected and
if these stories are not told anymore, then their culture will fall apart. Storytelling in both Beloved and
Ceremony controls the lives of all the characters and

family trip. This allows families to spend time together while exploring one of the oldest and the
largest geological areas. There are several landforms to visit at Niagara Escarpment. Some of these
include, limestone cracks, crevices and Lake Crawford, a rare and unique meromictic lake. A
meromictic lake means that the lake has layers of water that do not intermix. This also means that
whatever goes into the water stays down due to the lack of oxygen underwater in meromictic lakes.
Due to this the lake is not used for water supply. The escarpment is also a great place to learn about its
geological history and to see wildlife, landforms and orchids that are not seen anywhere else. Several
landforms found here include dried out waterfalls, fossils, steep slopes, limestone and dolostone.
Endemic species found in Niagara Escarpment include the Blue Jays, Turkey Vultures and Hooded
warblers. Various orchids that can been seen are the Calypso Orchid , Ram s head Lady slipper and
Alaska Rein Orchid. Its history dates back 430 450 millions years when the area was flooded with a
shallow sea. Rivers and bodies of water would carry sand and take it to the ancient seas. They would
also carry silt and clay creating sediment. At this time organic material rich with lime was

The Themes Of Fear In Monsters Are Due On Maple Street
Monsters are due on maple street essay When fear Seizes someone, they are no longer able to make
rational decisions. In the science fiction short story Monsters are due on Maple Street, by Rod Serling,
Season 1, episode 22, fear takes over almost an entire neighborhood. The twilight zone is a very old
T.V. show in which the theme of the short shows usually based on all of the flaws in humanity. The
First taste of prejudice is the very thought that creates pandemonium on Maple Street. One main
weapon humanity uses is prejudice. This quote is when Mr. Goodman s car starts out of nowhere and
now They are are pointing out all of his flaws He was always an oddball. Him and his whole family.
Real oddballs, (Serling pg.7). This quote helps the reader understand that the people that are always
too quick to assume are the people that have something to hide and that they find every little action
that could well end up tying to why the aliens piloted over head. Now they are pointing out that Les
Goodman is an oddball and that he now must have something to do with the dilemma. Another piece
of evidence that shows that prejudice is a literal weapon in humanity is when Pete Van Horn is shot
and is now dead. (Serling pg.13) A figure suddenly materializes in the gloom and silence... Charlie

Emergency Management Plan
The town should develop an emergency management plan in the event of weapons of mass destruction
terrorist attack. Emergency management includes four basic phases: mitigation, response, recovery,
and preparedness (Maras, 2013). First we will look at mitigation, in this process the focus is to lessen
the effects of the emergency. Then maximize the effort to reduce potentials for future disasters. The
second step, response, seeks to effectively respond to an emergency in order to save lives, protect
property, and meet basic human needs (Maras, 2013). First responders are very critical at this point
and their training will save lives in these types of situations. The people in the community will all

Difference Between Hiring A Professional
Graphic Design
Many assume that the only difference between hiring a professional to handle graphic design and
doing the work on their own is the price. Nothing is further from the truth, as the average person doesn
t have the skills needed to create a professional image, one that truly reflects the business and its
values in a positive light. A professional design goes above and beyond attracting the attention of the
viewer. It provides a call to action, encouraging the viewer to purchase the product or service, yet
many don t recognize this. They assume a logo or another design is nothing more than a symbol of the
company, but it is much more, and our designers understand this.
With the help of professional graphic design, companies find it easier to share their message with the
customer. Individuals continue to be bombarded by advertising messages everywhere they look, and a
professional design helps to attract attention in a crowded field while also providing the customer with
information about the company. Although these may not seem of importance to the average person,
technical aspects such as bleeding and cropping do play a role in the customer s perception of the
brand. They don t realize this, but it is truly the case. Our team of graphic designers is familiar with
these and other techniques and use them where appropriate to convey the desired message.
Most importantly, graphic design involves more than creating a logo. Layout and production design

Howl By Ginsberg Analysis
Have you ever read a poem or book and did not like it or could not understand it? I have, and the
poem is called Howl by Allen Ginsberg. Part one of Howl takes the reader on a rant filled journey
through Ginsberg s and his friends, The Beat generation, life experiences. Part two he talks of
everything he hates and uses the term Moloch to describe it. Part three he talks to Carl Solomon, a
friend of his. His angry tone and over the top use of imagery for government, drugs, and sexuality
leaves the readers wondering what the heck is going on and what is he really trying to say? The reader
has to break down each line to decipher what is really going on and through all that time an effort; the
value of the message is lost. Allen Ginsberg was born on June 3, 1926, in Newark, New Jersey.

days after receiving a lobotomy. Ginsberg attended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He has a compassionate tone. Ginsberg shows his softer side when he unifies with Carol Solomon.
The poem is dedicated to Carl Solomon. He met him in the psychiatric hospital that he was sent to in

They saw themselves in each other almost immediately (Ginsberg, para 24). He uses the word
Rockland to describe the mental institution they met in. I m with you in Rockland where you imitate
the shade of my mother. (Howl, line 96). This line is understandable and shows the audience the
connection he feels with him. Ginsberg also brings the reader in on a little history of Solomon by
sharing some of Solomon experiences with the reader, but just like the rest of the poem his choice of
words and imagery is unsavory. I m with you in Rockland where you will split the heavens of Long
Island and resurrect your living human Jesus from the superhuman tomb (Howl, line

The Influences of Asia, Africa and the Americas toward Contemporary Society
September 13, 2015
The progression of morality as it relates to the influence of family, religion and society varies between
Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Our contemporary society has been influenced tremendously in many
different areas by these different societies.
Social order in Asia was established by Hammurabi s Code of Laws. Hammurabi himself was an
Amorite king of Babylon, he set these laws to place order in Babylon. Hammurabi s lex talionus
explains that the punishment of a crime should be equal to what crime has been done, these laws are

Similarities between ancient Egypt and now is that the subject of divorce is a private matter, unless
one of the two wants to publicize it. As for the America s in their advanced agriculture system led to
modern society s agriculture as well. This system was put to use by Ancient Peru after hunters were in
search to consume foods other than meats. Ancient Peru created the spread of corn, cassava, and
potatoes (Adas, 1992), this resulted in the growth population in the Americas, because people who
only had access to cassava were able to eat this new thing called corn. This sense of spreading food is
similar to how we can get Florida oranges, and Georgia peaches to Delaware, by trade. Lastly,
Contemporary society and the Americas both served as a melting pot for existing civilizations. People
of many descents migrated to the Americas in search of something new, and today people from other
countries migrate to the many states of America to start a new life with new opportunities. Once all the
newcomers came and got settled in the Americas, a defined culture had set in as well, which was
different from the rest. Today you still hear people refer to our American culture across many different
areas of life. In comparison to all of the societies mentioned above, each one has contributed to
modern American culture in the subjects of literature and art. Egyptians were the first to develop an

  • 2. Analgesima Essay Analgesics Pain control is essential to quality patient care. Otitis externa can be quite painful, and patients frequently request analgesics. These agents ensure patient comfort and may have sedating properties. Inexpensive, simple non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce inflammation and irritation and can be paired with opiates to improve pain symptoms. In some cases, systemic analgesics are helpful before ear cleaning or wick placement (27,20). Oral and intravenous antibiotics Most persons with OE do not require oral medications. Oral antibiotics are generally reserved for patients with fever, immunosuppression, diabetes, adenopathy, or an infection extending outside the ear canal. They should be given to individuals with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Occasionally an abscess forms in the ear canal; this usually occurs in cases of OE caused by S. aureus (6). Treatment of the abscess is often accomplished by means of a simple incision and drainage procedure using a needle or a small blade. Long term monitoring For a patient of OE with debris, a suctioning of the EAC on a weekly basis is required until debris has been removed. Patients must be monitored to ensure complete resolution of OE. Even in mild cases, follow up is important for evaluating the response to treatment. A follow up visit 1 week after starting treatment is usually adequate (3). (d) Prognosis Most incidents of OE resolve without difficulty. The majority of patients improve within 48 72 hours of antibiotic administration. Failure to improve within 2 3 days should call the diagnosis into question and prompt the physician to reevaluate the patient. Otitis externa usually resolves fully in 7 10 days (3). Resolution of eczematoid OE occurs with control of the primary skin condition. In some patients, OE can cause severe otalgia necessitating administration of narcotic pain relievers. Pain usually improves 2 5 days after initiating therapy (27). Temporary hearing loss is common secondary to canal occlusion. Severe infections may cause cellulitis or lymphadenitis of the face or neck. If left untreated, the infection may invade the deeper adjacent structures and progress to necrotizing (malignant) ... Compartmentalization provides advantages in Eukaryotic cells because it provides the optimal environment for different metabolic functions. So many metabolic functions can happen inside one cell. 2. Explain how the nucleus controls protein synthesis in the cytoplasm. The nucleus creates mRNA and the mRNA goes through the nuclear pores into the cytoplasm. The mRNA is transcribed the from the DNA. Once the mRNA enters the cytoplasm it is translated by ribosomes, than the corresponding amino acids come and form proteins. 3. List the components of the endomembrane system, and describe the structure and functions of each component. Nuclear Envelope, is composed of two main layers and has many channels. It surrounds the nucleus. Endoplasmic Reticulum, is a tubular network fused to nuclear membrane that goes through the cytoplasm into the cell membrane. • 4. The Bronze David By Donatello Of The Early Renaissance The Bronze David by Donatello of the Early Renaissance shows a subtle transition through style and form to the High Renaissance when compared to the marble David by Michelangelo. Yet a similar Renaissance interpretation of the character of David is seen in both pieces. Donatello s David embodies the humanism and classicism of the Italian Renaissance, and pioneers styles that would influence a generation. The perfection of David by Michelangelo creates a similar allusion to humanism and classical form while indicating Donatello s lasting influence and inserting neoplatonic ideas of the High Renaissance. Through his Bronze David, 1430, Donatello documents a biblical character in a form that captures the ideals of the Italian Renaissance. The five foot and two inch piece recreates the moment after the human hero David slays Goliath whose head lies at his feet. The structure, Figure 1, not only celebrates the use of human wit and potential, but David s nudity emphasizes the human body s physical grace. In addition, the figure s bareness is accentuated by the calf length boots and large hat. The use of the free standing style allows the human form to be appreciated at every angle. This quintessential instance of human heroism is documented by the artist and articulated by the sculpture with an air of nonchalance. The poetic and heroic indifference and self satisfaction expressed in Donatello s David is classified as sprezzatura. Sprezzatura is the idyllic attitude of a human ... • 5. Character Foils In Vaclav And Lena In the novel Vaclav and Lena, Haley Tanner employs the use of many character foils. Characters are placed into similar roles and the behavior of one character accentuates the traits of another, more major character. This is particularly prominent among the women who act as Lena s guardians. Two of the most important women in Lena s life are Radoslava and Rasia. Radoslava Dvorakovskaya is an elderly woman who Lena lives with when she is very young. Radoslava passes away and Lena moves in with her aunt. In her new neighborhood, she meets a boy named Vaclav and his mother, Rasia, who quickly becomes a guardian of Lena as well. Radoslava is a foil for Rasia because while both serve as maternal figures for Lena, Radoslava s failures as a caring guardian highlight Rasia s devotion and kindness. Radoslava s self centeredness calls attention to Rasia s attentiveness. Radoslava s actions make it clear that she considers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Radoslava is quick to yell at Lena, saying, Yelena! I am old and I am dying, and you have ruined my last years of peace (169). Radoslava blames Lena for everything and considers her to be a stain on her life. Radoslava does not fulfill her role as a kind maternal figure in this case as she makes it very clear that she does not want to be in this situation. On the other hand, Rasia and her son Vaclav enjoys helping Lena and consider it a blessing rather than a burden. They are more than willing to meet Lena and become acquainted with her, both of them knowing that they were doing something nice (68). Rasia and Vaclav find pleasure in knowing that they are doing a good deed. Unlike Radoslava, Rasia is unconditionally caring. Radoslava only does things for her own good and the moment things get difficult she immediately pushes the responsibility onto Lena. The way Radoslava treats Lena serves as a harsh contrast to the way that Rasia willingly takes on the burden of acting like a mother for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Splatterhouse Video Before watching the clips, I was feeling content. I was not frustrated with anything or anyone, I was calm and I just watched a few funny videos, which brought my mood up even more. During the first video, immediately, my thoughts were about the quality of the animation and the story line. As for the violence, I didn t like looking at it. I tried to turn away a few times. I think that there was an excessive amount of gore that could have been easily cut out, but it wasn t, because the viewers or the gamers like it. The second video was a lot worse in my opinion. The Splatterhouse video had some sort of story line beside the gore, but this video only showed a first point view of a person killing people in many different ways. Because of the quality of the video, I didn t actually see anything too graphic, but just the idea of people enjoying this game made me a little scared for our society. During the third video, I thought about how believable the scenes were. The lighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only clip that slightly interested me was Saw. I thought that the story line was interesting, but I still wouldn t watch the actual movie, because of the violent scenes that I would have to watch. Though I had almost no interest in these videos and found most of the scenes repulsive, I caught myself on the thought that by the time I was watching the fourth video, I got used to the violence portrayed in these videos. If the first video made me want to turn away from the screen, the last video had no effect on me at all. I believe that this explains the mere exposure theory. The only thing I did was sit and watch a few clips, but the effect was that I became immune to the violence for at least some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Minor Client Challenges Ethical and Legal Challenges When Counseling Minors Working with minor clients can be extremely challenging because of the grey areas surrounding ethical and legal issues. Two major challenges when working with minor clients are confidentiality and reporting suspected child abuse or neglect. There are actions taken by counselors to provide the best possible care for the minor client, while maintaining a therapeutic relationship. As a future counselor, I am aware I will encounter challenges pertaining to confidentiality and abuse/ neglect, however I understand the need to make an ethical decision and use the ACA Code Of Ethics to guide me through the journey. It is essential to work with the parents or guardians of the minor child to have the greatest success in counseling. Educating and bringing awareness to the minor child and their parents/guardians about confidentiality is key. Counselor can be guided through this process by using the ACA Code of Ethics Standard A.2.d, which states the counselor acknowledges the need to balance between the parent/guardian and the minor child. A counselor acknowledges this code with respect for Standard B.5.d, which states a counselor respects inherent rights and responsibilities of the parent/guardian over the welfare of the minor client (Remley Herlihy, 2014). • 8. Analysis Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde By Robert Lewis Stevenson As the cities in the nineteenth century grew and expanded, more and more people moved from the countryside to said cities. With an increase in the size and population of the city a individual s anonymity increased as well. Both the Paris Morgue and the novella Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde written by Robert Lewis Stevenson portray the anonymity of modern city life. While middle class men often appreciated the anonymity of the city, because it allowed them to escape social class restrictions, they also feared some of the negative implications. The working class, on the other hand, might have enjoyed the new found entertainment options, however they also had to fear being victims of crime and ending as nameless corpses. Women, both from the middle class and working class, experienced more freedom through the entertainment and leisure time options available due to the anonymous character of the city. For the middle class man the anonymity of the city promised freedom from social restrictions, that hindered him from behaving in ways that were unseeming for a man of his standing. In his novella Stevenson writes about a wealthy middle class doctor, Dr. Henry Jekyll, who through a potion, could turn himself into a different person. However, others execute investments based on the opposite taking place; they hope that the price of the security declines. These investors are practicing short selling. Numerous renowned examples of short selling exist, one of which, the shorting of mortgage backed securities during the real estate bubble in 2008. A number of critics find short selling unethical while others feel it necessary to maintain a balance in the market. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1980s, investments banks such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, and Morgan Stanley started selling mortgage bonds. Mortgage bonds were a collection of thousands of home mortgages, purchased from lenders, and their associated income streams (monthly payment). To address the fact that some homeowners often refinance their debt when interest rates are low which prematurely pays off the debt, mortgage bonds were stacked into layers called tranches . The lowest tranche represented mortgages to be paid off early, and the highest layer was the last mortgages to be paid off. Then, in the 1990s, bonds were created consisting of subprime mortgages, which were higher risk mortgages with high interest rates, made to borrowers with lower credit levels. Essentially, banks were handing out mortgages like candy to consumers who were never going to be able to make the payments, but Wall Street kept buying and packaging the mortgages into bonds. Since these bonds were inherently riskier, one wonders why investors were still willing to buy. Investors, who look at ratings by agencies such as Moodys and Standard Poors, had no reason to believe these bonds were risky investments. The Fate of Women in The Birthmark Essay The Fate of Women in The Birthmark Wilson Sullivan in Nathaniel Hawthorne in New England Men of Letters states that Nathaniel Hawthorne s tale, The Birthmark, depicts the efforts of a deranged scientist to obtain total perfection in his wife by removal of a facial blemish. In this story the scientist operates on the superficial level of the physical world, while the woman, the truly heroic woman, functions on the level of the heart and soul, the more significant level. The wife s virtue leads her onward and upward; the husband s lack thereof and inability to appreciate virtue in his Georgiana leads him downward and downward. Even after Aylmer has persuaded a beautiful woman to become his wife, he is not capable of loving her properly, unselfishly, because he had devoted himself, however, too unreservedly to scientific studies ever to be weaned from them by any second passion. The narrator seeks to justify this error or lack in Aylmer by explaining that it was not unusual for the love of science to rival the love of woman in its depth and absorbing energy. Already at the outset of the tale, the reader perceives that Georgiana is going to be shortchanged in this marriage. She is exposed to the problem initially when her husband asks whether it never occurred to you that the mark upon your cheek might be removed? Aylmer is in quest of physical perfection in his wife; unfortunately he discounts her inner, spiritual value so clearly manifested in her comment: ``To tell you the truth it has been so often called a charm that I was simple enough to imagine it might be so. People who are affected by this disorder commonly suffer from depression, lethargy, inability to concentrate, overeating and weight gain. People from the north tend to suffer more from this disorder because of the shortened days. It appears, that due to the deficiency of sunlight some people suffer from these symptoms. The shortened days have a hormonal effect on the body that causes these symptoms, and the use of artificial sunlight is the best way to relieve the disorder. The findings were that melatonin levels were greatly decreased. The decline in melatonin usually happens in the early morning, but in a SAD patient this does not occur until about two hours later. In order to suppress the levels the patient needs to be exposed to sunlight. It is found, that when the patient is exposed to the light there is a significant decrease in depression and the craving for carbohydrates. It is not known if SAD is directly caused by melatonin. We are still not sure what is the direct cause for the depression of SAD. We do know why people who suffer from SAD crave carbohydrates. Serotonin is the chemical that regulates a person s appetite for carbohydrate rich foods. A patient who suffers from SAD, and is given an artificial shot of serotonin called d fenfluramine leads to a decrease in stress induced eating (Scientific American 1986). Cities of Salt by Abdul Rahman Munif Short Essay The Post Colonial Arabic Novel Cities of Salt Cities of Salt has often been read as at once an elegy for a disfigured space and society, and a chronicle of its transformation. How does Munif represent the encounter with and effects of global capital and its arrival? How are tradition, traditional social ties on the one hand, and the encounter with the foreign other represented? What are the limitations and potential problems of attempting to write such a work? Elaborate! Abdelrahman Munif, a Jordanian born Saudi novelist, wrote a novel called Cities of Salt . It is a monumental novel that tells the story of the discovery of oil. Encountering the vicious arrival of the global, political and economic modernity to an unnamed Persian Gulf kingdom is the main point of Munif in this novel. Edna represents that light/change and is the more positive character. Her strength and willingness to see through the conflict is what ultimately helps them come to a resolution. Both characters complement each other much like the yin and yang, channeling their energy to create harmony in their lives. 3. The most important issue brought in the episode is the division amongst the working class and capitalists. It is quoted that times are bad, (Odets 8) and if Joe could get another job he would. Edna makes an argument to further stress this division by saying your boss is making suckers outo you boys (Odets 10), as a way to say that his superiors don t care about him or his family. Competition amongst workers during the great depression enabled the reduction in wages or has Edna states, they ll push you down to three and four a week before you know it (Odets 10). In order to stay within a save margin we reduced the weighted average rating time by 25% and added this to the weighted average time of underwriting. They are all former colonies to the extent that India, Nigeria, South Africa, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand are members of the Commonwealth, they are former colonies of the United Kingdom and they all continue to concede the nominal leadership of the queen. The twilight zone is a very old T.V. show in which the theme of the short shows usually based on all of the flaws in humanity. The First taste of prejudice is the very thought that creates pandemonium on Maple Street. One main weapon humanity uses is prejudice. This quote is when Mr. Goodman s car starts out of nowhere and now They are are pointing out all of his flaws He was always an oddball. Him and his whole family. Real oddballs, (Serling pg.7). This quote helps the reader understand that the people that are always too quick to assume are the people that have something to hide and that they find every little action that could well end up tying to why the aliens piloted over head. Now they are pointing out that Les Goodman is an oddball and that he now must have something to do with the dilemma. Another piece of evidence that shows that prejudice is a literal weapon in humanity is when Pete Van Horn is shot and is now dead. (Serling pg.13) A figure suddenly materializes in the gloom and silence... Charlie pulls the trigger the sound of it explodes in the stillness... (holding the dead mans crushed glasses) it s Pete Van Horn! This piece of evidence from the text states how Charlie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Emergency Management Plan The town should develop an emergency management plan in the event of weapons of mass destruction terrorist attack. Emergency management includes four basic phases: mitigation, response, recovery, and preparedness (Maras, 2013). • 32. Difference Between Hiring A Professional Graphic Design Many assume that the only difference between hiring a professional to handle graphic design and doing the work on their own is the price. Nothing is further from the truth, as the average person doesn t have the skills needed to create a professional image, one that truly reflects the business and its values in a positive light. A professional design goes above and beyond attracting the attention of the viewer. It provides a call to action, encouraging the viewer to purchase the product or service, yet many don t recognize this. They assume a logo or another design is nothing more than a symbol of the company, but it is much more, and our designers understand this. With the help of professional graphic design, companies find it easier to share their message with the customer. Individuals continue to be bombarded by advertising messages everywhere they look, and a professional design helps to attract attention in a crowded field while also providing the customer with information about the company. Although these may not seem of importance to the average person, technical aspects such as bleeding and cropping do play a role in the customer s perception of the brand. They don t realize this, but it is truly the case. Our team of graphic designers is familiar with these and other techniques and use them where appropriate to convey the desired message. Most importantly, graphic design involves more than creating a logo. Layout and production design along ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Howl By Ginsberg Analysis Have you ever read a poem or book and did not like it or could not understand it? I have, and the poem is called Howl by Allen Ginsberg. Part one of Howl takes the reader on a rant filled journey through Ginsberg s and his friends, The Beat generation, life experiences. Part two he talks of everything he hates and uses the term Moloch to describe it. Part three he talks to Carl Solomon, a friend of his. His angry tone and over the top use of imagery for government, drugs, and sexuality leaves the readers wondering what the heck is going on and what is he really trying to say? The reader has to break down each line to decipher what is really going on and through all that time an effort; the value of the message is lost. Allen Ginsberg was born on June 3, 1926, in Newark, New Jersey. Ginsberg s father was a poet and a teacher. His mother suffered from mental illness and later died two days after receiving a lobotomy. Ginsberg attended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has a compassionate tone. Ginsberg shows his softer side when he unifies with Carol Solomon. The poem is dedicated to Carl Solomon. He met him in the psychiatric hospital that he was sent to in 1949. Carl Solomon was Allen s double a Bronx born bisexual self dramatizing left wing intellectual. They saw themselves in each other almost immediately (Ginsberg, para 24). He uses the word Rockland to describe the mental institution they met in. I m with you in Rockland where you imitate the shade of my mother. (Howl, line 96). This line is understandable and shows the audience the connection he feels with him. Ginsberg also brings the reader in on a little history of Solomon by sharing some of Solomon experiences with the reader, but just like the rest of the poem his choice of words and imagery is unsavory. I m with you in Rockland where you will split the heavens of Long Island and resurrect your living human Jesus from the superhuman tomb (Howl, line ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Human World Views The Influences of Asia, Africa and the Americas toward Contemporary Society September 13, 2015 The progression of morality as it relates to the influence of family, religion and society varies between Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Our contemporary society has been influenced tremendously in many different areas by these different societies. Social order in Asia was established by Hammurabi s Code of Laws. Hammurabi himself was an Amorite king of Babylon, he set these laws to place order in Babylon. Hammurabi s lex talionus explains that the punishment of a crime should be equal to what crime has been done, these laws are described as an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth (Levack, B., Muir, E., amp; ... As for the America s in their advanced agriculture system led to modern society s agriculture as well. This system was put to use by Ancient Peru after hunters were in search to consume foods other than meats. Ancient Peru created the spread of corn, cassava, and potatoes (Adas, 1992), this resulted in the growth population in the Americas, because people who only had access to cassava were able to eat this new thing called corn. This sense of spreading food is similar to how we can get Florida oranges, and Georgia peaches to Delaware, by trade. Lastly, Contemporary society and the Americas both served as a melting pot for existing civilizations. People of many descents migrated to the Americas in search of something new, and today people from other countries migrate to the many states of America to start a new life with new opportunities. Once all the newcomers came and got settled in the Americas, a defined culture had set in as well, which was different from the rest. Today you still hear people refer to our American culture across many different areas of life. In comparison to all of the societies mentioned above, each one has contributed to modern American culture in the subjects of literature and art.
