Beowulf and Star Wars Comparison
Deep space and Ancient Warriors A literary symbol is something often an object that stands for a
significant concept or series of ideas often a symbol is emblematic of the values of the
characters. In the narrative Beowulf and the movie Star Wars, many aspects of symbolism are
paralleled. In the movie Star Wars the most important examples are the Death Star, light sabers
and the force. In Beowulf, some of the most important examples of symbolism are Grendel s arm
and head, the dragon s treasure trove Hrothgar s mead hall and Grendel s cave. The mead hall is
both symbolism and a setting in the epic. The building is like a palace that towers high just as a
cliff with horn shaped at the ends of the walls. It s more than a home for the... Show more content

They aren t opposed to technology, however they do not rely on it alone, at the expense of their
own senses and feelings. When Luke encounters Obi Wan Konbi and Yoda in their homes these
Jedi masters live simple lives close to the land. When Luke has to destroy the Death Star with,
Obi Wan Konbi voice tells him to rely only on his own senses, his intuition, and his connection
to the Force. A contrast to the way of the Jedi is the behavior of their dark side counterparts, the
Sith. Darth Vader is more machine than man with robotic limbs and built in life support.
Significantly, Darth Vader s last request is for Luke to remove his mask, so that Vader may see
Luke directly, without the technological filter. Proving that the simplistic life is the best to have

the simple life is the nature. These two stories are great parallels of each other

Informative Essay On Critical Thinking Skills
Critical thinking skills are essential to the adult learner. Since this is a writing based program,
adopting a creative mindset helps facilitate critical thinking skills. Attending an online program
requires the student to research the weekly assignment individually. Without the typical classroom
environment, each student must determine what the writingassignment requirements are and how to
relay the information in an informative essay. Critical thinking skills and effective writing are
essential to succeed in higher education(Varelas, A., Wolfe, K. S., Lalongo, E., 2015).
Critical thinking skills are determined by how the individual clarifies, analyzes, evaluates, and
extends the argument (Loes, C. C., Salisbury, M., M., Pascarella, E., E., 2015). After reading the
required assignment and journal articles, the adult learner will analyze the material for a better
understanding. This process will help define the problem to determine what information needs to be
relayed in the essay. To better clarify the necessary information, the student might brainstorm ideas
on paper. Brainstorming helps develop the outline for the best way to communicate the ... Show

Focus on not rushing to quick judgements before collecting all the facts. Also, try not to project
ideas based upon personal opinions. To become an effective critical thinker, the student can acquire
traits that will increase their problem solving skills. View the assignment as a puzzle that needs to
be solved to make the assignment more interesting. If the student is baffled at where to begin the
writing process, try changing the routine by going outside to work instead of at a desk inside the
house. By applying the above mentioned techniques and mistakes, the student can enhance their
critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are crucial to facilitate the transition to an adult

Theme Of The Signalman
The extract begins with a conversation between the narrator and the signalman. The signalman is
disturbed as he confides in the narrator, voicing his worries what does the specter mean? The
narrator himself is also clueless, as he begins to doubt the logical reasoning and sanity of the
signalman, therefore in this manner dickens continues to build the suspense leading towards the
story s climax, creating an air of confusion and mistrust in the process.
The signalman, in an increasingly desperate tone, continues to voice his worries. His constant
string of questions indeed shows how deeply horrified he is at the thought of the foreshadowed
dreadful calamity that is to occur. Dickens also weaves in a sense of helplessness, as the signalman
has no way or power to stop the events from occurring and this thought has made him deeply
paranoid.
In the next few paragraphs, the signalman continues to constantly ask questions, this emphasizes
the true extent of his trouble. It also alludes to the main overall plot of the story as the ... Show more

He tries to reason on how to move forward, whether to believe in his account or to take him to get
help from a practitioner, this consequently relates to the main theme of the supernatural versus
logical reasoning. he describes the signalman to be intelligent, vigilant ,painstaking and exact , the
emphasis placed on this description by dickens is striking as it establishes him as someone who
makes sure to follow his duty and is aware of his surroundings, this will intensify the shock and
tragedy of him being unable to interpret the warnings pertaining to his own death. Thus, by
introducing such ideas and using words such as treacherous dickens reinforces the gothic effect of
the story and foreshadows future events. The narrator, satisfied with his choice resolves to return

Human Body Continuously Need Blood Supply Essay
Human body continuously need blood supply to the cell in order to deliver oxygen and nutrient
to the cells and carrying out carbon dioxide out of the cell. In order to have good perfusion in
tissue, a person has to have good cardiac health and patent vessels. Edema also affect tissue
perfusion. There are many reasons that disturbed the normal flow of bloodlike ECG rhythm,
congestive heartfailure, hypertension, gestational hypertension, mitral valve prolapse, coronary
artery disease, and peripheral vascular disease, which are also the exemplars of perfusion. There
are many risk factors that can be modified to prevent the perfusion problem.
Blood pressure greater than 140/90 is known as hypertension. Excessive sodium intake,
hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, extreme tobacco and alcohol use, over activity of sympathetic
nervous system, and over production of sodium retaining hormones and vasoconstriction
substances are major contributing factors of hypertension. Heredity, age, and gender are also the
risk factors for hypertension (Bucher Dirksen, 2014). Hypertension is one of the most underlying
cause of impaired perfusion. High blood pressure for long period of time can shore up smooth
muscles of artery as a result of building up the strength through hypertrophy and hyperplasia, which
results in decrease size of arterial lumen. In older adult, the wall of artery become thick and hard
due to above contributing factors that I mention. This alter vasomotor tone and blood

6th floor of the Texas School of Book Depository and shot Kennedy in the back and in the head
while also injuring Governor Connally. Days after the assassination, Oswald was killed by a club
owner named Jack Ruby. Later on, the book goes on to talk about other theories behind Kennedy s
death such as the idea that there were two gunman, Oswald, Ferrie, or Shaw came up with a

benefits from owning a pet? and the second one is How are pets being used for therapeutic needs
and is this reliable? I have always been interested in animals since I was a little girl. Besides my
love for dance, my affinity for animals is just as great. My ultimate goal is to go to vet school,
hopefully at The University of Florida, and then eventually own my own general practice clinic.

Corners, New Hampshire in the early 1900s, more specifically, the lives of young George Gibbs

Black Panther Party Reflection
My experience at the Oakland Museum was educational, I learn about the history of Asian
American were mistreated and placed to work on the railroads. The artwork I saw at the Museum
was quite amazing that look quite realistic. It was a photograph of lady holding a child during the
time of the Great Depression. Another thing I saw was The Black Panther Partyexhibit it was quite
small, but I learn that African American does not want to be seen as second class citizen and
being disrespected. This connects to our class in a way it relates to the documentary that we
watched about the Black Panther Party. The Black Panther Party is a movement that revolutionized
the Black community like the Black Lives Matter movement that is around today. This particular
movement help fund a breakfast program for low income family which it is a model used in
public schools. Lastly, I sat on a half opened airplane and imagining I was an immigrant coming to
the United Stateslooking for new opportunities like the War and Peace documentary I watched for a
homework assignment. Overall, I enjoy the OaklandMuseum. The second event I attended was
the no A s movement. I did not really went there close enough since I was in a rush to get to
work. However, I took a quick second to take a picture of the event. The movement is not that big

China s Economic Development Through Experiments With...
Deng Xiaoping was one the the Chinese Communist Party leaders. His goal for China was to get it
back on the right path, which was economic development within the country. China s economic
development has abruptly stopped under the leadership of Mao Zedong. Deng Xiaoping said
practice is the sole criterion of truth . His mindset was that by practicing and experimenting with
different forms of production and ideas for entrepreneurship, China would be successful in finding
their way back to economic development. This started China s path to economic development
through experiments with capitalist methods of production. Thee Four Modernizations were goals
that were set by Shou Enlai first, in 1963, but they were later enacted by Deng Xiaoping in 1978.
These goals were set in order to strengthen the fields of agriculture, industry, national defense, and
science and technology in China. They were enacted in hope of saving China s economy, following
the death of Mao Zedong. These reforms stressed economic self reliance. They wanted China to
have a sense of stability in their economy, while being independent at the same time. The Four
Modernizations were designed to make China an economic power by the early 21st century. China
was, in fact, able to hurry along their economic development with the help of these reforms. China
used foreign investment, a more open market, access to advanced technologies and management
experience. Deng was basically making all of the decisions for

Covert Monitoring Of Private Communications
Shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the US Patriot Act granted was enacted
granting wide legal authority to the intelligence community as a defensive measure against future
terrorist attacks. Among those new powers, included in Article 215, is the right to obtain business
records, while imposing a gag order on the party holding those records. This law remains the
foundation upon which the current NSA phone metadata collection campaign is operated. In
October 2001, President Bush ordered the National Security Agency to commence covert
monitoring of private communications through the nation s telephone companies without the
requisite FISA warrants. The agency began surveilling the Internet for emails, financial data, and
voice messaging on belief that such metadata was not constitutionally protected. In effect, by
penetrating the Internet for text and the parallel Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) for
voice, the NSA had gained access to much of the world s telecommunications. At the end of Bush
s term in 2008, Congress had enacted laws that not only retrospectively legalized these programs,
but also prepared the way for NSA surveillance to grow unchecked. Rather than restrain the agency,
President Obama oversaw the expansion of its operations 1.2Revelations of Government Overreach

Marmee s Role In Little Women, By Louisa May Alcott
Mrs. March, Marmee, gives a supporting and managing effect as the girls strive to defeat their

External And Internal Reasons For Healthcare Organizations...
There are external and internal reasons that drive healthcare organizations to improve their quality
of healthcare. External reasons for quality improvements come from governments, insurers, and
consumers requiring that healthcare organizations provide and continue to improve on high quality

within these healthcare organizations. The quality of healthcare differs from city to city and even
from country to country. In order for healthcare organizations to meet the quality of care

Comparing My Own Life By Oliver Sacks The Skull And The...
Undoubtedly, every sun arises with new surprises in the life and motivates people to accomplish
their goal. Acceptance plays an integral role because it is an ultimate truth of the living because
some stages of the life, we have to accept unwanted things, or sometimes we accept things for our
satisfaction. In order words, life is all about acceptance. Similarly, in the story My Own Life by
Oliver Sacks, the author uses the appeal to authority to show how his thinking changes about life
after getting inspired by the philosopher David Hume to accepts the fact of death. The author
accepts the natural fact of death and how he motivated himself to live his rest of life with
happiness instead of feeling bad about his health: I have to live in the richest, deepest, most
productive way I can. In this I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He decides to fight to accomplish his motive. The narrator uses the comparison to show the
parallels between the life of a soldier and the man who wins over a bear years ago after a long
struggle. The skull which he found in the cave also help him to be determined about winning
over his enemy. While fighting against the enemy the soldier was injured. The skull gives him a
new ray of hope after he noticed the arrow points through the skull to the eye of the bear. In
addition, the narrator shows how his own thoughts assist the person himself not to accept the
victory of his enemy, as in the text narrator states, the arrow could not have killed the bear.
Blinded him, yes enraged him, but not killed him , which shows that how that man fights with a
bear till the end and wins the battle. Therefore, it shows that how acceptance play an essential role
in the life, and it entirely depends on the situation in which the person is trapped. In other words, it
is just up to the person how to react to that specific

Angel Pottery Case Paper
Angel Pottery has primarily focused on producing serving bowls and sugar bowls for customers.
The company is eager to launch a new product which will be mugs. This new product was selected
largely due to customer interest for this type of product. The goal is to produce 25 mugs per week.
The estimated cycle time of each product is twenty one days from beginning of production to
distribution to customer.
Focusing on the production of five mugs per shift and running one shift per day during a five day
work week might result in a bottleneck during the firing phase of production. This could happen
because the potter can produce more mugs per week than can be fired in one kiln firing. The kiln
can hold three shelves of four mugs for a total of twelve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Vorne, The Theory of Constraints is a methodology for identifying the most important
limiting factor (i.e. constraint) that stands in the way of achieving a goal and then systematically
improving that constraint until it is no longer the limiting factor. In manufacturing, the constraint is
often referred to as a bottleneck (2016). As the WIP collects on inventory shelves, there is greater
evidence that the kiln firing process is a bottleneck for production. This constraint in the process
could be alleviated by adding an additional kiln to the firm. Anjoran stated, One way to reduce the
impact of bottlenecks is to Adding capacity by increasing resources (men, machines...) this is often
done best with inexpensive, low tech, low complexity equipment that will be down less often than a
complex, high tech solution
(2016). In the case of Angel Pottery, the purchase of a second kiln (low tech resource) could help to
alleviate the bottleneck that exists due to limited space kiln space. Lean management could be
applied to increase productivity and improve cycle times. With the constraint of firing space
alleviated by capital expenditure on a second kiln, pull from the customer or demand will drive
production. This Kanban will help to orchestrate when and how much inventory should be

What Is The Theme Of The Eve Of St Keats
In The Eve of St. Agnes, Keats finds out a happy alternative of Isabella, Lamia, and the other
darker odes linking with death or failure. The major theme of this poem is the celebration of
human love and as the representative of critics it is an imaginative projection of young love
(Stillinger, 1999, p. 38). There is no other way of reading the poem than of an intense, happy,
achieved lovethat makes it the contrast of Isabella. It is a romantic love which has the heavenly
experience and through Keats magic Madeline and Porphyro fell they are in heaven. The poem
tells the story of Madeline and her lover Porphyro who are deeply in love but their families are

Agnes is one of Keats s best loved works or it is a celebration of romantic love. Here Keats
represents himself somewhere in the form of the narrator and somewhere in the character of
Porphyro. The main characters Madeline and Porphyro who achieve their secret love and boldly
escape from the decaying castle are associated with Keats and Fanny Brawne. Keats shows the
superstition connection with St. Agnes Eve invites the emotional warmth of his happy lover
Fanny Brawne. The character of Porphyro is compared with Keats feelings and also his
expression of ambivalence toward women. No other poet of the Romantic period seems to have
been influenced so deeply by a woman than Keats. It is his love for Fanny Brawne that inspires
him to write much of his poetry after December of 1818. John Middleton Murry writes in the same
year, If the crude equation be taken with enough imaginative margins, we may say that Madeline
is Fanny and Keats Porphyro and The Eve of St. Agnes was the first poem in which Keats was
inspired by his love for Fanny Brawne . Similarly, Murry also says that not only in The Eve of St.
Agnes but also in Lamia Keats is Lycius, Fanny Brawne is the Lamia, and Apollonius is Charles
Brown the realist, trying to break Fanny s spell over Keats by insisting upon her as the female
animal. The identification seems transparent (Stillinger, 1999, p.

Resistance to Change and Resolutions Essay
Organizations are made to change by both internal and external forces. Resistance is inevitable
but can be resolved by planning. I will discuss the possible resistances that may occur from the
changes in our sales process. This will be a planned process. I will take you through the necessary
steps to effectively manage the resistance to the change in the organizations structure and culture. I
will then cover in detail the resistance that will most likely happen in our company to this change
in our sales process. Resistance to Change and Resolutions An organization changes include

The changes in our sales process will cause some conflict between departments or divisions.
They will struggle to regain their perceived power levels, causing conflict and then we will have
reduced performance. We are fortunate to have an organic structure in our company as this will
have less resistance because our people are allowed to think and make decisions on their own.
This gives them security from the habit of deciding how to implement a process. Were we
mechanistic we would see more resistance in the forms of having to make major changes in
behavioral attitudes of the workforce. Resolutions I believe we will see resistance to change
mostly by individuals. There are several ways to effectively overcome the opposition. The first
step is to plan the changes in the process. We will be creating a revolutionary change or major shift
in the sales process. Planning is key to overcoming resistance. A SWOT analysis is needed,
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the change. We define the goals, the scope of
the project, analyze the internal and external environments and determine the changes in
technologies. Also what will increase our chance for failure? Once this is done, we educate our
workforce. We have several means of communication. We can have short daily meetings, send out
emails, and use our company newsletter or my favorite, a link on the company s Internet site with
daily updates on the change process. We must include how these changes will

The Importance Of Gender Equality In The Military
In a world where political correctness reigns supreme and gender equality are major concerns and
talking points for a lot of people, there are some circumstances where gender equality just does not
make sense. There are times when pushing for gender equality causes only harm and in fact,
damages its own cause. In the Military, this has taken the form of pushing to have women be
allowed to serve in front lines combat units. In the major political push for genderequalityin all jobs,
some of these pushes for change will cause only harm. Women should not be allowed to serve in
front line combat units because of their biology they are physically incapable of the same things
as men are, there will be unit cohesion problems that do not exist and there are health concerns for
women have that men do not have. Beginning in early 2013, the Secretary of Defense chose to
rescind the policy known as the Direct Combat Exclusion Rule (Batterton, Hale, Murphy, 2016).
This policy is what restricted front line combat units to men only. After this policy was rescinded,
the different branches of the Military have opened their training programs to allow women the
chance to pass them. The problem with this is that along with opening these programs to women,
they have had to modify the training programs to be gender neutral (Roulo, 2013). This means that
if the standards are too high for women to pass, the tests would seem biased. However, if we lower
them, then the recruits which pass the

Leadership in Thoughts from the Tao te Ching and The Qualities of a Prince
Lao Tzu s Thoughts from the Tao te Ching and Machiavelli s The Qualities of a Prince both have
the ultimate goal of making better leaders. The tactics that each writer chooses to present as a
guide for the leader are almost opposite of each other. Today s American government would
benefit from a combination of the two extreme ideas. Lao Tzu s laissez faire attitude towards the
economy, as well as his small scale, home defense military is appealing to a liberal person.
Machiavelli s attitude towards miserliness and lower taxes, while being always prepared for war,
would appeal to a conservative person. The writers are in agreement on some issues, such as ...

A hated leader would invite a rebellion that would try to remove him from power. On the other
hand, a leader should not be loved. Showing too much compassion will make the people think
you are weak, and he would permit disorders to continue. Machiavelli urges the leader to always
be personally armed, and preparing for war, even in peace time. The leader must continually train
his body and mind for combat. He believes that people are fickle and greedy, so they will take
whatever you give them. Ultimately, he believes the leader should do and say anything to keep the
people happy, but when it comes down to it, what makes them happy may not be best for the state
as a whole. An even mixture of both of these theories is the best for America. Something that our
leaders in the United States in past years aimed for is middle of the road politics, appealing to both
liberals and conservatives. Although I do not believe Machiavelli s honesty policy would go
over too well in the United States, I am sure his tactics are used by politicians in creating an
appearance that people want to see. A good combination for our government today is for the
president to not be personally armed, but have protection. He does not constantly train for war, but
has an appointed official dedicated for that purpose. In contrast to both writers, I believe the
American people today are neither inherently good nor evil exclusively, but we all want

The Dark Side Of War Revealed In Walt Whitman s Poetry
Whitman saw everything about the war even its violence as patriotic. It was an emotional outburst
and then cleansing for the entire country. According to Reynolds, Whitman s recruiting poems,
avoided partisanship, picturing the war spirit as a unifying rather than divisive force... (417).
Whitman s works funneled all of the passionate emotions expressed and experienced during the war
and directed them towards unity.
In contrast, one of Whitman s recruitment poems Beat! Beat! Drums! focuses on the less glorious,
yet still unifying, side of war. The poem begins with the speaker commanding drums and bugles
traditional military instruments to play their music so loudly that their sound bursts through:
through the windows...through doors...like a force of armed men (Kaplan 419). The purpose
behind the speaker s command is disruption. The speaker orders the instruments to go into places of
both academic and religious study ( into the solemn church, and scatter the congregation;/ Into the

In his article, Song of Sanity, David Baker argues that The sacred nature of death in Whitman s
poetry is clear enough (8). The imagery of death appears as the dead in their graves, waiting for a
hearse. Death cannot be separated from war. Just like at the end of the poem, at the end of a war,
the death must be collected. Whitman paints the environment of war without once mentioning
soldiers. Instead, he focuses on the effect of a war fought exclusively on American soil on
everyday Americans. The effects of the Civil War on everyday citizens and soldiers were not lost
on Whitman. Whitman, while trying to define the optimism and vitality of America as a young
nation in his poetry, did not hesitate to serve wounded soldiers that fought in the war. He responds
to the shocking and deplorable conditions of the army hospitals in his poem, The Wound Dresser

The Importance Of Voting Rights In America
One of the most essential civil liberties afforded to an American citizen is the right to vote. The
United States Constitution did not initially define who was eligible to vote, allowing each state to
determine who was eligible based on their own standards. As our country developed, we began to
see a growing number of activist movements in different communities such as that of African
Americans and women. The culmination of Jim Crow laws, state and local laws that enforced
racial segregation in the Southern United Stateslead to civil rights movements for African
Americans. Women suffrage movements were broad and included both men and women, who
dared to challenge the notion that a woman s place was domestic in nature and should not include
civil liberties such as voting.
As a result of state and local discriminatory practices, the federal role in elections has gradually
increased. Amendments to the Constitution and enacted legislation, such as the Voting Rights Act
of 1965, have helped to increase the number of eligible voters. Furthermore, the United States
Constitution set forth voting rights that cannot be abridged on account of race, color, previous
condition of servitude, sex, or age for those above 18. However, the guidelines outlined in the

The Importance Of Micrornas
The microRNAs (miRNAs) are single stranded small, endogenous, non coding regulatory RNA
with size varying ~21 to 24 nucleotides. microRNA mediated gene regulation play an important
role in the negative regulation of gene at post transcriptional level by targeting the mRNAs of
protein coding genes by cleavage or repressing proteintranslation in eukaryotes and viruses (Bartel,
2004). microRNAs are expressed from their own genes located in the intergenic or intragenic
region on the chromosomes (Lagos Quintana et al., 2001). In plants, most miRNA genes are
intergenic and transcribed individually from their own region, but a few genes are organized into
polycistronic transcription units and co transcribed from single promoter at the end of a... Show

The functional genomics studies have shown the involvement of plant miRNAs in many
developmental processes of plant (Jones et al., 2006), response to biotic and biotic stresses,
hormone signalling (Frazier et al., 2011, Jagadeeswaran et al., 2009), signal transduction, protein
degradation (Zhou et al., 2010; Zhang et al., 2008), transgene suppression (Allen et al., 2005),
disease development (Johnson et al., 2005), defense against viruses (Bennasser et al., 2004),
molecular mechanisms regulating developmental transitions, such as seed germination, vegetative
and reproductive phase changes, flowering initiation, seed production and root development (Yang
et al., 2011) and nutrient deprivation and heavy metals (Chen et al., 2012).
Many miRNAs have been identified and investigated extensively in plant species with sequenced
genomes and comparative genome analysis from expressed sequence tag (EST), genome survey
sequences (GSS) and nucleotide sequences. miRNAs are evolutionarily conserved in the plant
kingdom from mosses and ferns to angiosperms (Zhang et al., 2006b). Using this attribute,
identification and prediction of miRNA by sequence analysis has advantage over other methods. It
has been suggested that miRNAs predicted by EST analysis can be recovered by high throughput
deep sequencing (Kwak et ai., 2009).

I chose to look into Wyoming because it s one of the states I ve wanted to move to when I become

The first thing I noticed when comparing the two states ratios was the age ranges. South Dakota

up their ages more. Since the South Dakota ratio was the same for an infant and a toddler you
could also put them into one category. In Wyoming, all of the age ranges had a different teacher
to child ratio (as seen above). From my own experiences, I can see both being effective. I do like

ability to dodge making it slower and agile. However, he was pair with another gladiator to assist

Battles generally took place on the Roman Forum, until the mid 1st century BC since there was no
permanent amphitheatre. In the imperial period, gladiatorial games were traditionally held twice a
year in December and March to mark the end of the year and beginning of spring. Gladiatorial
combat involved beast hunting where the Romans had passion for hunting. For fighting beast,
Romans preferred big and dangerous animals bears, bulls, elephants and lions from the far reaches
of the Roman Empire. Rarely did the animals survive these hunts though occasionally very few
animals survived these hunts and defeat the hunter. Many of wild animals would be slaughter in a

Essay On Don Quixote
Don Quixote is considered the most influential work of literature. It has been around for more
than four hundred years. It is still being read and it is a work that is dear to many people s hearts.
The story is mainly about an older individual named Alonso Quixana who lives in La Mancha in
central Spain. After, he read thousands of book about knights he started to go insane and decides to
change his name to Don Quixote. So, when he finished all his books he started to believe that he
was one. In this piece Don Quixote experiences love, morality, law, justice and much more. But,
reality and fantasy are two major points in this story. This story is very much related in the 21st
century because in society today people who have big aspirations... Show more content on

Especially those who grew up not knowing how there life would turn out to be. A conflict that
has been going around in today s world is Dreamers those who have immigrant parents that were
brought to the United States in order to have a better life. These people s dreams have been
ruining more and more each day because there is little to no hope left in achieving those goals.
An impactful quote that was said in Don Quixote was, I do know who I am, and who is in my
depth has nothing to do with your ideas and with your expectations about me (book) What this
quote is trying to tell it s audience is that sometimes our highest most outrageous goals sometimes
seem untouchable and we get scared when other see us trying to reach that goal. The Scientific
Journal of Humanistic Studies states, Being something, someone, having an established identity is
comfortable, but becoming someone is risky (Cun 3). Having a dream isn t unhealthy or
dangerous nor is being imaginative either. But, the population tends to believe that if you are an
imaginative person you are going insane. Which is not the case, this is the reason why Don
Quixote de la Mancha became such a modern character. He was someone who desired to become
someone, and to be able to metamorphose the world in a more favorable way. At the time this book
was written reality and fantasy were two completely opposite terms, no one had ever thought to put
those two together. Cervantes sure made a bold

Managing Resistance to Organizational Change Essay
In the course of considering and implementing change, the need frequently arises for effective
application of the approaches and tools for managing resistance to change (Palmer, Dunford, Akin,
2009). Change often fails from ineffective management of the internal and external forces of
resistance opposing change (Kotter Schlesinger, 2008; Oreg, 2003; Palmer et al., 2009). In
response, this paper discusses the approaches (tools) deemed most essential for managing resistance
to change relative to the scope of the situational contexts in which they might be applied. The
discussion centers on considerations for the multidimensional conceptualizations of resistance that
are often ignored in evaluating alternatives for taking action.... Show more content on

According to Piderit (2000), each of these components contributes to an individual s disposition to
resist or support change, which can range along a continuum from strong opposition to
ambivalence to strong support. Oreg (2003) characterizes behavioral responses to change in terms
of the perceived degrees of fairness of both change outcomes (distributive justice) and the change
process (procedural justice), as mediated by differences in personality traits and contextual elements
such as self efficacy, tolerance for change, and social influence. Further conceptualizations of the
multidimensional nature and scope of resistance are captured in goal regulation theory (Meyer,
Becker, Vandenberghe, 2004), which is grounded in theories related to regulatory focus (Higgins,
2002) and self determination (Deci Ryan, 2008; GagnГ© Deci, 2005). This integrated theory
characterizes varying levels and polarity of behavioral responses to change relative to affective,
normative, or continuance forms of motivation and commitment. The variation in behavioral
responses when plotted on continuums of intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, internal/external locus of
causality, and prevention/promotion focused regulation reflects the degree to which basic
psychological needs of autonomy, competency, and relatedness are realized during the change

Human Differences Between Humans And Humans
research into the minds of dogs and humans has brought to light the similarities between the human
and canine brains. Examples include having a theory of mind, sentience, the possession of mirror
neurons, and the ability to generate emotions and respond emotionally. The origin of these
similarities have yet to be explained. One theory states that the similarities could have developed
in both humans and dogs, and then strengthened when dogs were domesticated and perfected their
social functions in order to adapt to a human dominated environment. Another theory is that pack
behaviour in dogs is similar enough to human social behaviour that dogs developed
independently from humans, then became domesticated because their behavior already aligned
with that of with early humans. Some evidence of that is the fact that humans and canines have
occupied the same geographical regions for hundreds of thousands of years. Our best estimate of
dogs became domesticated is somewhere between 14,700 and 36,000 years ago (Liane,
Interdisciplinary investigations of the late glacial double burial from Bonn Oberkassel). This
paper will explore why humans and dogs started to live together, whether humans and dogs
developed their social cognitive abilities in together or separately, and when dogs became
cognitively distinct from wolves. For the vast majority of our existence humans have lived in small
hunter gatherer groups. Similarly, wolves live in small social groups or pairs. They also

(Bonser, 1992) This proves to be beneficial for all parties as it provides the organization with a
leadership team that not only possess the intellectual capacity to facilitate change, but also provides
management, and in turn, their respective employees, a strategic opportunity to capture and utilize
an educated skill set.
There is a direct correlation between organizational leaders and human resource practices and how
these components work together to implement organizational cultural change. (Easterby Smith
amp; Salama, 1994). Changing core values at the management level and implementing a top down,
coordinated effort by management to disperse the new value system throughout the organization
can prove to be highly efficient and establishes a level of accountability for all employees. This

proactively nullifying any confusion related to change and also displays to employees that the
change process is well thought out and highly organized.

The Video Game Industry and the Objectification and...
How can an industry with widespread appeal to men and women continue to misrepresent and
misgender women? Video games have been used as a platform for entertainment between the ages
of 18 and 49. The entertainment factor of video games comes from the various forms of art,
cultures, worlds, languages, and stories that come from each individual game. The male players of
video games lead the market, causing the industry of video games to create games that would
appeal to males, such as creating female characters that would attract them. Because of this, female
video gameplayers have become the minority in the video game industry. Although video game
companies claim to target all types of video game players, women have become the victims of
patriarchal sexism by being objectified and stereotyped as a way to increase sales. A fact that
contributes to the objectification and stereotyping of women is that as of 2011, 56% of video
game players are male, and the other 44% are female ( Essential Facts 4). This discrepancy
caused video game industries to create games that will sell to the majority the male players.
However, the 44% of female players are still considered a large consumer group (Shanley 11).
Despite the 12% discrepancy between male and female players, industries that have chosen to
focus solely on their male consumers can be seen as patriarchal. This patriarchy has caused video
game industries to create games that would appeal to male gamers only ( Gender

How To Avoid When De-Icing Your Windshield
During the winter months, snow and ice is a common problem. Not only does it make the roads

things: 1. Hot Water A lot of people think hot water is a good idea, especially when they are in a

The signalman is disturbed as he confides in the narrator, voicing his worries what does the specter mean? The narrator himself is also clueless, as he begins to doubt the logical reasoning and sanity of the signalman, therefore in this manner dickens continues to build the suspense leading towards the story s climax, creating an air of confusion and mistrust in the process. The signalman, in an increasingly desperate tone, continues to voice his worries. His constant string of questions indeed shows how deeply horrified he is at the thought of the foreshadowed dreadful calamity that is to occur. Dickens also weaves in a sense of helplessness, as the signalman has no way or power to stop the events from occurring and this thought has made him deeply paranoid. There are many reasons that disturbed the normal flow of bloodlike ECG rhythm, congestive heartfailure, hypertension, gestational hypertension, mitral valve prolapse, coronary artery disease, and peripheral vascular disease, which are also the exemplars of perfusion. There are many risk factors that can be modified to prevent the perfusion problem. Blood pressure greater than 140/90 is known as hypertension. Excessive sodium intake, hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, extreme tobacco and alcohol use, over activity of sympathetic nervous system, and over production of sodium retaining hormones and vasoconstriction substances are major contributing factors of hypertension. Heredity, age, and gender are also the risk factors for hypertension (Bucher Dirksen, 2014). Hypertension is one of the most underlying cause of impaired perfusion. High blood pressure for long period of time can shore up smooth muscles of artery as a result of building up the strength through hypertrophy and hyperplasia, which results in decrease size of arterial lumen. In older adult, the wall of artery become thick and hard due to above contributing factors that I mention. This alter vasomotor tone and blood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are fortunate to have an organic structure in our company as this will have less resistance because our people are allowed to think and make decisions on their own. This gives them security from the habit of deciding how to implement a process. Were we mechanistic we would see more resistance in the forms of having to make major changes in behavioral attitudes of the workforce. Resolutions I believe we will see resistance to change mostly by individuals. There are several ways to effectively overcome the opposition. The first step is to plan the changes in the process. We will be creating a revolutionary change or major shift in the sales process. Planning is key to overcoming resistance. A SWOT analysis is needed, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the change. We define the goals, the scope of the project, analyze the internal and external environments and determine the changes in technologies. Also what will increase our chance for failure? • 29. The Importance Of Gender Equality In The Military In a world where political correctness reigns supreme and gender equality are major concerns and talking points for a lot of people, there are some circumstances where gender equality just does not make sense. There are times when pushing for gender equality causes only harm and in fact, damages its own cause. In the Military, this has taken the form of pushing to have women be allowed to serve in front lines combat units. In the major political push for genderequalityin all jobs, some of these pushes for change will cause only harm. Women should not be allowed to serve in front line combat units because of their biology they are physically incapable of the same things as men are, there will be unit cohesion problems that do not exist and there are health concerns for women have that men do not have. Beginning in early 2013, the Secretary of Defense chose to rescind the policy known as the Direct Combat Exclusion Rule (Batterton, Hale, Murphy, 2016). This policy is what restricted front line combat units to men only. After this policy was rescinded, the different branches of the Military have opened their training programs to allow women the chance to pass them. The problem with this is that along with opening these programs to women, they have had to modify the training programs to be gender neutral (Roulo, 2013). This means that if the standards are too high for women to pass, the tests would seem biased. However, if we lower them, then the recruits which pass the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leadership in Thoughts from the Tao te Ching and The Qualities of a Prince Lao Tzu s Thoughts from the Tao te Ching and Machiavelli s The Qualities of a Prince both have the ultimate goal of making better leaders. The tactics that each writer chooses to present as a guide for the leader are almost opposite of each other. Today s American government would benefit from a combination of the two extreme ideas. Lao Tzu s laissez faire attitude towards the economy, as well as his small scale, home defense military is appealing to a liberal person. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A hated leader would invite a rebellion that would try to remove him from power. On the other hand, a leader should not be loved. Showing too much compassion will make the people think you are weak, and he would permit disorders to continue. Machiavelli urges the leader to always be personally armed, and preparing for war, even in peace time. The leader must continually train his body and mind for combat. He believes that people are fickle and greedy, so they will take whatever you give them. Ultimately, he believes the leader should do and say anything to keep the people happy, but when it comes down to it, what makes them happy may not be best for the state as a whole. An even mixture of both of these theories is the best for America. Something that our leaders in the United States in past years aimed for is middle of the road politics, appealing to both liberals and conservatives. Although I do not believe Machiavelli s honesty policy would go over too well in the United States, I am sure his tactics are used by politicians in creating an appearance that people want to see. A good combination for our government today is for the president to not be personally armed, but have protection. The United States Constitution did not initially define who was eligible to vote, allowing each state to determine who was eligible based on their own standards. As our country developed, we began to see a growing number of activist movements in different communities such as that of African Americans and women. The culmination of Jim Crow laws, state and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United Stateslead to civil rights movements for African Americans. Women suffrage movements were broad and included both men and women, who dared to challenge the notion that a woman s place was domestic in nature and should not include civil liberties such as voting. Oreg (2003) characterizes behavioral responses to change in terms of the perceived degrees of fairness of both change outcomes (distributive justice) and the change process (procedural justice), as mediated by differences in personality traits and contextual elements such as self efficacy, tolerance for change, and social influence. Further conceptualizations of the multidimensional nature and scope of resistance are captured in goal regulation theory (Meyer, Becker, Vandenberghe, 2004), which is grounded in theories related to regulatory focus (Higgins, 2002) and self determination (Deci Ryan, 2008; GagnГ© Deci, 2005). One theory states that the similarities could have developed in both humans and dogs, and then strengthened when dogs were domesticated and perfected their social functions in order to adapt to a human dominated environment.
