Little Bit ( Mis ) Judged
Little Bit (mis)Judged
Throughout United States history, the nation saw many different presidents. Some terms were too
short to evaluate the legacy, and others had many events that led to a mixed legacy. It is always hard to
rank the presidents based on the greatest, the most impactful, or even the most overrated. Lyndon B.
Johnson, the 36th President of the United States, arguably had an impactful presidency, but he was
also a very overrated one. His domestic policy looks good because he addressed the Civil Rights at the
right time, but at the same time his War on Poverty left unanswered problems. His foreign affair was
dominated by the horrid Vietnam War, but he also played a part for the CIA supported coup d etats that
resulted in deaths of thousands of innocent people all over the world. In addition, Johnson did not
show strong, powerful traits that most presidents should have while he was in office. One major thing
that Johnson gets credit for is addressing the civil rights. He passed a couple of significant acts that
allowed civil rights to African Americans. This is seen as one of his positives during his term.
However, an argument can be made that this could have been accomplished during the Kennedy
administration. Of course, there is much evidence that Kennedy was in fact hesitant when it came to
civil rights issues, but the Cold War played a part with Kennedy s action. Timing did not help
Kennedy while he was in office. During his tenure, Kennedy had to deal

Analyzing Donald Crews s Freight Train
I was thrilled to see Freight Train by Donald Crews on our reading list for this week! The books use of
bright colors contrasting with dark shapes and lines drew me to this book. On the front cover we see a
steam engine pulling train cars with gradient smoke coming from the chimney. The steam engine and
cars are flat, geometric, shapes helping anchor them to the track. The billows of smoke are organic as
they rise into the air. I can now see there is not only bright versus dark but a hard versus soft quality
going on that will continue to stay throughout the book. As, I turn the page I am greeted with a long
brown horizontal line that runs across both pages. This horizontal line is surrounded by tiny, free form,
circular, shapes that make

Ned Kelly Cruelty
Such is life These words is thought to be Ned Kelly s last before he was hanged for his crimes. But
who was Ned Kelly? What did Ned do that he deserved to be hanged? Why was Ned important? To
many Ned Kelly is seen as a hero, to others he was seen as a villain but in either event he changed
what would later be Australia. Was Ned Kelly good or bad? Before we understand Ned s story we
must understand Austraila before Ned. Australia was first inhabited by the Aborigonals (the
indigenous people) and was left alone by the outside world until Europeans first had set sail for the
country at around 1606. Between 1606 and 1770 an estimated 54 European ships had came to
Australia. Most of these European ships were from the Dutch East India Company and for a small
time became New Holland. It wasn t until August of 1770 that somebody officially claimed Australia
his name was Lieutenant James Cook. Cook had claimed Australia in the name for King George the
Third and renamed Australia to New South Wales. Once claimed, two fleets came to Australia the first
had eleven ships with about 1,350 people on it. The second fleet had provided food and supplies that
were badly needed but many on the second fleet were ill and many were near death. None of the
people on the second fleet were helpful to the colonies. One thing to note is that many of the people
getting sent to Australia were pervious convicts not only that, but in 1790 there was one woman to
four men. This made making a new colony

Hp Compaq Essay
Question 1 Using a SWOT analysis, identify the key strategic fits between the two companies. What
are the most important expected synergies? Strength Weakness  Ability to serve customers at lower
cost  Compaq was a significant player in enterprise systems and HP in IT services business  Wider
spectrum of products for its clients through the merger  Strong brand recognition, something that
takes time to build  Highly complimentary R D  Overlapping management  Overlapping product

The expected cost synergies (as announced by HP) are approximately $2.5 billion . This amounts to
approximately $0.83 per share in the merged firm. The market value of Compaq at the time was
approximately $21 billion pre merger announcement, meaning that a reasonable price for Compaq
should be $23.5 billion. So the final exchange ratio price of $25 billion includes a premium of 6.3% or
$1.5 billion. Considering that the PC market had matured and was faced with increasing competition
with price undercutting by competitors, the price offered by HP seems rather optimistic. (Refer to HP
Compaq key note slides)  One of the assumptions is the P/E of 15x to 25x. Is this justified? 0  Is
the discount rate of 15% justified? (Look at the back and use beta to calculate). If you calculate it, it
seems reasonable. (Beta for HP is 1.5 and 15% discount rate is viable)  Revenue loss of $4.1 billion.
Where could this come from? ANS: Overlapping businesses and cannibalisation of products and hence
natural revenue loss. Question 3 (exhibit 5 7 ) Conduct a simple valuation of Compaq. Does your
valuation differ significantly from the HP offer price and why? Do you think the offer price is
appropriate? Brief background of Compaq: Founded in 1982 its primary strengths are in innovation
and its low cost structure of its products which compete with Dell. Its primary business divisions are
commercial and consumer PCs, enterprise computing and global services. Its

Operational Level Command And Control Requires Both The
Operational level command and control requires both the effective execution of mission command and
integration of the joint functions. During Operation Husky, the Allies did not have a shared
understanding of the mission, did not have a clear understanding of commander s intent, and did not
exhibit mutual trust during the campaign. Disjointed Mission Command repeatedly prevented the
Allies from capitalizing on the Allies collective combat power.
While the Allied Naval forces came through with incredible logistical accomplishments in the joint
function of sustainment, the Allies poor execution of movement and maneuver ultimately allowed
Germany s withdraw from Sicily. Although the Allies failed to put forth a united effort, they ... Show

During the campaign, General Alexander s inability to grasp the significance of a German withdrawal
echoed the Allies lack of understanding at the Casablanca Conference. On the ground, neither LTG
Patton s 7th Army nor Montgomery s 8th Army understood that the true center of gravity for the
campaign lay in defeating the German forces and preventing their withdrawal. Instead, the 7th Army
and 8th Army sacked one town after another and got mired in various embattlements, which gave the
Germans enough time to withdraw to Italy in significant numbers. This strategic blunder was a direct
result of the lack of understanding. Commander s intent, the second key component of Mission
Command, provides subordinate commanders and units with a clear and concise expression of the
purpose of the operation and the desired military end state. Leaders who understand the commander s
intent can use that information to fill in any gaps in information as those commanders move their units
on the battlefield. In doing so, commanders can achieve battlefield synergy when faced with poor
communications from higher. The Casablanca Conference left U.S. service members, and their general
officers with an imperfect understanding of the ultimate purpose of Operation Husky. This lack of
clarity would ultimately have an adverse impact on the resolution of the campaign. England saw
Operation Husky as the first of several peripheral fights that would attack

Literary Analysis Of Hester At Her Needle
The phrase Hester At Her Needle was never used once, however, all but one appeared outside of
chapter five, which was ommitted since it appeared within the title. In chapter three, the shortened
phrase at her needle was used by an aforementioned matron to describe Hester s needlework, tying it
to her fantastical presentation of her punishment and titular scarlet letter. The following chapters Pearl
and The Governor s Hall were not included due to the overwhelming usage of Pearl since it was the
name of a main character, and Governor s Hall did not make an appearance outside of a title, making
it impossible to delve deeper into its usage. Elf child was used five times to reference Pearl, which
made up half of the eighth chapter s title, The Elf Child and the Minister , since Minister was
overwhelmingly used in lieu of Dimmesdale, making its usage ineffective to connect to other chapters
since it also appeared in chapter twenty s title. Elf child first debuted within the eighth chapter title,
followed by usage in chapters fifteen, nineteen, and twenty four, making it rather delayed and its
meaning obvious. First being used in chapter fifteen, Pearl was causing mischief and harmed a bird,
which she quickly came to regret and gave up on throwing even more pebbles at even more birds.
Once again in the wilderness, Pearl was once again described as an elf child in chapter sixteen as she
left Hester, who went deeper into the forest. In chapter nineteen, Hester

Protagonist the leading character or one of the major characters in a drama, movie, novel, or any other
fictional text. A protagonist is sometimes called a hero by the audience or readers.
Antagonist a character that opposes the protagonist or the main character. It is common to call the
antagonist a villain (the bad guy) because they are against the protagonist (the good guy). Sometimes,
an antagonist can exist within the protagonist causing an inner conflict in the mind.

Parallel Myths
There are over 4,000 religions in the world today. How can there possibly be that many different
versions of creation? Because of the possibility of parallel myths. This essay will look to The
Thoughts of Brahma, Brahma is Lonely, The King, the Hawk, and the Pigeon, as well as Gautama and
the Elephant. Analysis of these short stories and comparison to basic Christian and non theistic views
will show the similarity and how close to the truth the selections could be. The Thoughts of Brahma
appear to be very similar to the Christian Genesis 1. In The Thoughts of Brahma, the Hindu god
Brahma created the world, similar to how the Christian Lord created Earth. Both stories begin in

In the story, the King Vrishadarbha was asked by a pigeon for protection from a hawk. The hawk in
the story represents temptation, as it tries to get to its prey by any means. The hawk explains that if the
king is so honorable, he would either give the pigeon to the hawk or let the hawk eat him. The king, in
return, kept to his promise and gave his own flesh in place of the pigeon. In the end, it was unveiled
that this was a test from Indra, the leader of devas, and the king was restored and brought to heaven
for being honorable and keeping his word. While it may not be an absolute truth, it is much more
likely that good things will follow people who do good deeds and keep promises given. This was by

honesty, calm under pressure, and strength. In summation, the law enforcement professional only
wants to use physical force and restraint as a last resort as a tactic to enforcing the law. The most
effective law enforcement professional are those that are able to resolve issues and enforce the law
without resorting to a physical confrontation. As such, effective verbal communication is probably the
number one asset and quality of whatever profession. Effective communication skills enable officers

The Cold War And The War Era
The Cold War era was an infamous time in United States history. The stand off between the USSR and
the US lasted nearly forty five years, and began shortly after World War II had ended. Even though the
USSR and the US had been Allied Powers during the war, Stalin s ruling of his country frightened the
United States, and the US s late entry in the war caused Russian resentment. The tension the Cold War
caused terrified everyone and pressured the United States government to start preparing for desperate
measures. The US began mass producing nuclear bombs, increasing production four times over, and
even started working to create the first fusion hydrogen bomb (History, 2009). It the stress of the Cold
War that caused Rocky Flats to be constructed. Rocky Flats was a plutonium processing plant in
Colorado, just 26km north west of Denver (Coates, 2014). During its life it manufactured fission cores
that were to be used to detonate hydrogen bombs. The science they used to construct the fission cores
utilized the discoveries made during WWII. However after the FBI s raid in 1989, it was quickly shut
down for good. Although the site has received a massive cleanup from the government and
community, its impact on Colorado can still be seen today. The Rocky Flats plutonium plant was a top
secret plutonium processing plant that spanned over 6,500 acres of federal property and employed
nearly 4,000 people (Draper, 2014). It was a massive establishment, as can be seen in the photo on the

Subdural Hematoma Research Paper
Subdural Hematoma Evacuation
Subdural hematoma evacuation is a procedure used to treat a collection of blood (blood clot) between
your brain and its tough outer covering (dura). The blood clot is caused by bleeding (hemorrhage)
from a torn vein.
Subdural hematoma evacuation is sometimes done for bleeding that develops slowly, over weeks or
months (chronic subdural hematoma). The procedure may be needed if the bleeding becomes
dangerous or presses on the brain. It is also sometimes done as an emergency procedure after a head
injury (acute subdural hematoma). During the procedure, the skull is opened, and the blood clot is
gently flushed away using a balanced salt (saline) solution.

Charles De Galle Essay
Charles de Gaulle was born in Lille, France, on Nov. 22, 1890, the son of a teacher of philosophy and
literature at a Jesuit college. From early childhood he took an interest in reading. Fascinated by
history, he formed an almost mystical formation of service to France.
De Gaulle graduated from the Ecole Militaire of Saint Cyr in 1912 and joined an infantry division. In
World War I he was wounded and captured at Douaumont in the Battle of Verdun in March 1916. As a
war prisoner, he wrote his first book, published in 1924 called La discorde chez l ennemi. He served
on Marshal Henri Philippe Petain s staff then with the French army in the Rhineland, and later in
Lebanon. On April 7, 1921 de Gaulle married Yvonne Vendroux and they had their ... Show more

not impress the skeptical leaders in Washington including President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who
thought of him as a potential dictator and he only saw de Gaulle as an obstacle to U. S. relations with
the Vichy government. In July 1940 a French court martial sentenced de Gaulle to death for treason. In
1942, de Gaulle s Free French movement gained a lot of power and influence, winning over the

In November 1942, when American and British forces landed in North Africa, they convinced Adm.

Symptoms And Severity Of A Knee Ligament
Miller (2015) depicts that the symptoms and severity of a knee ligament sprain relies on upon the level
of stretching or tearing of the ligament. In his study he has included 3 grades of knee ligament sprain.
1) In a mild grade 1: knee ligament sprain, the ligaments may extend but they don t actually tear. The
joint cannot swell or hurt very much. It can increase the risk of injury again.
2) With a moderate evaluation II sprain: Bruising and swelling are most common sign. Ligaments get
partially torn and more painful.
3) With a severe grade III sprain: A ligament tears totally, bleeding under the skin, and swelling. Thus,
the joint become unstable and not able to bear weight. In grade 3 sprain, all pain fibers are torn so
there is no pain at the time of the injury.
Medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament injuries are most common in Soccer players.
Management:
Mangine et al (2015) in Management of the Patient with an ACL/MCL injured knee He has
established a treatment plan based on type of ligament injuries. 1) Medial or lateral meniscus tear 2)
Degree of MCL tear and ACL tear 3) Capsular damage and chrondral surface injury. The period of
time between injury and surgery depend on tissue included and severity of the injury.
1) Grade1 MCL: ACL surgeries with or without damage to meniscus within 1 week. No pre surgery
movement restriction.
2) Grade 2 MCL: ACL surgeries with or

The Importance of School Counselors
A school counselor s role is vital in many schools across America. Many students see their counselor,
to work on any emotional stressors, academic changes and challenges. This may include,
interventions, group therapy and changes in class schedule, but sometimes with all the
implementations given, students do not succeed in school. Perhaps one needs to take a closer look at
the programs being implemented and its success rate. In addition, a counselor should guide itself using
the ASCA (American School Counselor Association) to provide evidence based practices in schools.
According to Carey and Dimmitt, it is essential for counselors to use evidence based practice to make
sure they are able to ensure and improve student outcomes (2008). ... Show more content on

I find it this more reasonable and effective for a counselor to do. A research based program has done
all the work of creating a variable (experimental group) and a control group to show if a program s
effectiveness. This means the counselor can see the results of the experimental group and see if this
would work for the group intended. As mentioned by Carey and Dimmitt, research based interventions
ensure that the school s resources are invested wisely. This means, the counselor can rely on the
program and be able to predict positive outcomes.
Another method for a counselor to use science in their practice is to make sure the intervention or
program used has strong research support. While many may not hold strong support to be shown to be
effective, a counselor must evaluate its effectiveness for the students. I find this part of science more
difficult for counselors to implement due to time constraints and resources. While there may be many
programs out there, not all may be ideal for all schools. The counselor can experiment and see if
works well for the intended students or perhaps continue to find more research to back up the
program. Often times, this leads to counselors developing their own programs or curriculum but their
outcomes be unknown and not as valid as solid research based programs. Therefore, if the

the entire right side of the composition a third character ascends a staircase and rests one hand on a
disjointed platform. This figure wears an elaborate headdress, fabric sash and holds a large knife
tucked at it s side. The figure s long toes curl around the top stair where it stands surveying the other
two figures. This figure also has a tail, and the same mirroring happens between the extending hairs of
the headdress and the hairs of its tail as with the candle light and tail of the first figure. The
decorations and prominence of this figure give it an air of spiritual significance, the word priest seems
apt. Behind this figure is the forth and final figure of the composition. This figure stands lower on the
staircase behind the figure with the knife. This figure has a head shaped like a goblet filled with
toothpicks. We only see the head and shoulders of this figure,

Ammon Research Paper
Ammon was originally an Aethiopian or Libyan godliness, whose reverence eventually spread all over
Egypt, a section of the northern coast of Africa, and several parts of Greece. The original Egyptian
name was Amun or Ammun; the Greeks referred to him as Zeus Ammon, the Romans knew him as
Jupiter Ammon, and the Hebrews as Amon. In the countries where his reverence was first accepted, he
was worshiped in certain aspects as the supreme divinity , is clear from the fact, that the Greeks
recognized in him their own Zeus, even though the identity of these two deities in later times rests
upon philosophical speculations, created at a time when the original character of Ammon was nearly
lost sight of, and a more spiritual view of him substituted in its place.
In Burton MacDonald s book entitled, Ancient Ammon, he states that Ammon, or Amun was one of
the most powerful gods in ancient Egypt. At the height of Egyptian civilization he was called the King
God . He was originally an Ethiopian or Libyan godliness, whose reverence eventually spread all over
Egypt, a section of the northern coast of Africa, and several parts of Greece, the Greeks called him
Zeus Ammon. According to MacDonald, in the countries where his reverence was first established he
was worshiped in certain respects as the supreme divinity, is clear from the fact, that the Greeks ...

The Multiculturalism And Education Policy
Multiculturalism and Education Policy
How we educate our students is a contentious topic. Many stakeholders have different ideas about
what will make our schools more successful. Without going into great detail about the past, it is safe to
say the current paradigm is one of standards and assessment. Schools have gone back to basics
reading, math, science, and little else (Newman, 2013). In order to be considered successful, schools
have resorted to teaching to the standardized tests. Effective school advocates believe that the country
should pay less attention to racial issues and student racial composition of schools and instead
concentrate on academic quality only (Newman, 2006). I do not agree. I do not feel that school
success is an all or nothing venture where we have to decide between concentrating only on academic
quality or multicultural issues. Instead, I think that concentrating on multiculturalism issues, such as
racial issues and racial composition of schools, creates a nurturing and supportive environment
thereby improving academic quality. Although education is often promoted as a pathway out of
poverty, American educational disparities are such that the families with the greatest need are often
relegated to the least adequate educational resources (Sue Sue, 2013). 60 years after de jure
segregation was outlawed, schools are almost as segregated as they were before desegregation
(Hannah Jones, 2014). Such segregation is sometimes called

Analysis Of The Movie Breaking Bad
In the crime drama television series, Breaking Bad we follow see the inner struggle of good and evil
within the main character throughout the entire series to the point where we question which side of his
personality we are witnessing. We see Walter White as a mild mannered and respectful chemistry
teacher who also works at a car wash to help provide for his family just like the typical family man.
Walter has a teenage son who has multiple sclerosis, and a wife who is pregnant with their second
child. After learning that he has been diagnosed with Stage IIIA lung cancer, Walter decides quickly
that he has to secure funds to help pay for his treatments, and also take care of his family after his
death. This decision would spark definite change in his lifestyle, relationships, personality, and
appearance. The result of this change would create the person we know so well, Heisenberg.
Heisenberg is the ruthless, power hungry individual that will do anything possible to make sure that
nothing gets in the way of his money, drug business, and security of himself or his family. In this
paper we will discuss how certain events make Walter White progressively become darker throughout
the series of Breaking Bad to the point where he becomes Heisenberg, as well as comparing him to
different characters of TV shows on television today.
There are many events that helped expedite Walter White s transition from the quiet chemistry teacher
to the vengeful crystal meth kingpin, but

The Heart Of A Heart Disappointment
Introduction:
Services Directors for taking care of hearts. Those services will help to have a better quality but with
higher cost.
Ceaseless heart disappointment (CHF) is a perplexing, crippling disorder because of cardiovascular
brokenness that weakens the capacity of the ventricle to load with, or launch, blood. Subsequently,
common side effects, for example, dyspnoea and weariness happen very still or with lessened physical
exertion. CHF regularly comes about because of harm to the myocardium for which the etiology
contrasts as indicated by the populace contemplated. In high salary countries CHF is regularly the
finished result of underlying coronary illness (Cowie 1997). In low to medium salary countries the
disorder is regularly the consequence of longstanding hypertension, cardiomyopathy or rheumatic
coronary illness (Sliwa 2005). This pattern is changing, with the rate and predominance of
atherosclerotic ailment expanding in low to medium wage countries (Yusuf 2001). CHF pushes a
significant trouble on health awareness frameworks, because of the high utilization of human assets
brought on transcendently by rehashed and long admissions to healing facility (Stewart 2002).

Essay On Lily Briscoe s To The Lighthouse
Often times, humans are known to reflect on their past actions in search of significant moments
contributing to their life purpose. The novel To the Lighthouse has many hidden meanings within the
characters thoughts and actions relating to the themes of the novel. Lily Briscoe, a young female artist
and guest staying at the Ramsay family summer cottage, reflects on a painting in progress throughout
the novel. Over the course of 10 years, the characters and environment change dramatically, causing
Lily to continually make alterations to her painting until she finds it perfect. Lily s reflections
throughout the novel offer insight on art as a meaning of gender relations, preservation, and a
significant life. At the start of the novel, Lily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This lowers Lily s confidence about her skills as an artist and she begins to view the painting as
infinitely bad (48)! She reflects on the gender norms in the current time period. It is common for
women to be married and raise children, they are meant to comfort and care for others. Mrs. Ramsay
represents this belief. She encourages Mr. Ramsay when he feels down about his works, but also
questions why he needs this constant reassurance. Mrs. Ramsay feels that Lily will not succeed in art
and should focus on marriage, which is why she tries to feel helpful by continuously mentioning the
marriage of Lily and Mr. Bankes.
During the novel, Lily tries to analyze the different aspects of Mrs. Ramsay so she can correctly
portray her in the composition. It is revealed that Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay are in search of something to
make their life significant in the eyes of others. This is one thing Virginia Woolf mentions throughout
the novel to emphasize the desires many people have in the world today. Mr. Ramsay reflects on being
remembered through his philosophical works and research after his life has ended. Mrs. Ramsay finds
significance and importance in making memories with others to build a memorable reputation. Lily
notices this when she realizes Mrs. Ramsay wants Lily to marry Mr. Bankes.

Exotic Pet Ownership
Humans should be allowed to do anything that they re capable of doing. Therefore, if humans can
tame/control an exotic animal to satisfy our own needs humans should be able to. It s believed that the
ownership of exotic pets should either be banned, or it should have increased license requirements to
own an exotic pet. The main things that should be considered are: what it restricts, why not to place
restrictions, why restrictions are considered. Getting a license is a precaution placed in order to ensure
that the owner is acceptable to take care of an exotic animal. Someone looking to own an exotic pet
should require a license no matter the state. States should also not ban the ownership of these exotic
pets for that s restrictive on human aspirations. Restricting human choice shouldn t be acceptable
unless a human s choice(s) reduces another s capabilities. Humans are at a point where nothing is
above our species, therefore, if the capabilities of these exotic animals aren t enough to keep them
from us, then humans do whatever they like. Currently, the issue isn t what it seems. The licences to
own exotic pets vary widely in terms of requirements placed on the owner and the amount of ... Show

to obtain a license. These pets can be expensive, but they shouldn t be restricted from us as free willed

Violations Of Parole Supervision Are Technical Violations
Studies have found that many violations of parole supervision are technical violations instead of the
parole reoffending. Technical violations can range from a curfew to stipulations that the parole must
not drink alcohol or be in a house that contains alcohol. These technical violations, while some may
consider small or insignificant violation, can cause hardships and negative outcomes for the parolee.
These technical parole terms are put in place to hopefully lessen the likelihood that the parolee will
reoffend. For example, the members justice system may believe that parolees are more at risk to
reoffend when drunk thus they place the parolee under strict instructions to not consume any alcohol
or even be in the presence of alcohol to hopefully help curb temptation to drink. The members of the
justice system may also want to help the parolee stay away from the negative and deviant life they
were living before prison. To accomplish this the parole board might put in the parole terms that the
parolee is not allowed to associated with current or past known gang members. The technical parole
term of not drinking may also be a way the parole board is trying to keep the parolee from going back
to their old lifestyle of crime. When the parolee drinks they are less in control of their actions and may
go back to hanging out with their old deviant friends. The parolee may also have less control of their
anger and may go back to their habit of being violent.
These parole terms

The City as a European Symbol
The author describes and explains the evolution and role of city throughout history as an European
invention, and later on proposes to bring cities closer to the decisionmaking processes of the EU, since
cities proved to be able to from identities in the past, which would be desirable for a united Europe. It
is the cities that give an European feeling to the nations.
Contemporary Europe of regions includes quite a variety of cultures and traditions. To be able to
preserve this variety, it cannot homogenize completely. This is where the roles of cities come in, being
able to cope with diversity the best. (Riekmann, 1997)
Essential values are linked to the rise of the city democracy, freedom, citizenship, equality. It was the
city which lead to the invention of new political, economic, or technical ways which afterwards spread
throughout the nations and the world. Cities are like melting pots, mixing and clashing, producing new
concepts and ideas. Through architecture and city planning, basic ideals, order, and norms are being
constructed thus implying it evolves out of disorder. To ensure that identity, social and political order
would be preserved they often had to be bordered and, but to maintain their vigor they had to remain
open to the world. Later on capitalism came hand in hand with state building and it destroyed the
autonomy the city had enjoyed until that time, and moved it to the national level. The concept of urban
citizenship was lost aswell and national

Brian Montgomery Case Study
Brian Montgomery, the Federal Housing Administration commissioner, understood the significance.
His agency insures home loans, traditionally for the same low income minority borrowers Mr. Bush
wanted to help. When he arrived in June 2005, he was shocked to find those customers had been lured
away by the fool s gold of subprime loans. The Ameriquest settlement, he said, reinforced his concern
that the industry was exploiting borrowers. In December 2005, Mr. Montgomery drafted a memo and
brought it to the White House. I don t think this is what the president had in mind here, he recalled
telling Ryan Streeter, then the president s chief housing policy analyst. It was an opportunity to
address the risky subprime lending practices head on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Falcon ran the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, a tiny government agency that
oversaw Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two pillars of the American housing industry. In February
2003, he was finishing a blockbuster report that warned the pillars could crumble. Created by
Congress, Fannie and Freddie called G.S.E. s, for government sponsored entities bought trillions of
dollars worth of mortgages to hold or sell to investors as guaranteed securities. The companies were
also Washington powerhouses, stuffing lawmakers campaign coffers and hiring bare knuckled
lobbyists. Mr. Falcon s report outlined a worst case situation in which Fannie and Freddie could
default on debt, setting off contagious illiquidity in the market in other words, a financial meltdown.
He also raised red flags about the companies soaring use of derivatives, the complex financial
instruments that economic experts now blame for spreading the housing collapse. Today, the White
House cites that report and its subsequent effort to better regulate Fannie and Freddie as evidence that
it foresaw the crisis and tried to avert it. Bush officials recently wrote up a talking points memo
headlined G.S.E. s We Told You

Essay on Children + Violence + Television = Bad
On September 11th, 2001, millions around the world crowded around televisions across the globe and
watched the horrific scenes of terrorism that had struck New York City, Washington, D.C and
Pennsylvania on that ill fated and now infamous morning. Suddenly, in a crowded room everyone felt
alone. As the Twin Towers vanished before our very eyes, so did our sense of security and protection.
We watched with shock and horror, disbelief and grief as the images were repeatedly flashed before
our eyes. There was no escape. Every television channel and every radio station constantly reminded
us of the tragedy that we will never forget. Even today, over three years later, I can see the images and
remember the desperate pleas for help of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s simply too depressing. Today s news stories are explicit enough to make adults cringe, leaving
children staggering. Images of injured, suffering, and the deceased often fill our television sets with
reality violence. The news, however, is not the only type of media violence affecting children.
Even family oriented cartoons such as the Looney Tunes starring household names such as Bugs
Bunny, Wildie Coyote, and the Road Runner portray a lot of violence. Unfortunately, these types of
violence are often rewarded with a laugh. While it may be comedic to adults, children are witnessing
acts of violence that happen without punishment. Many of these acts of violence would leave a person
greatly injured or dead, but in the cartoons the character on the screen is unaffected and ready to try
again in the next scene or segment. This clearly is not reality. Children do not have the ability and
understanding to grasp fictional television and reality.
Even as children grow out of cartoons, they are still entertained by violence. I grew up watching the
World Wrestling Federation (WWF) with my older brother and my step father, two people I looked up
to. I remember countless days of wrestling with my friends throughout my childhood in result of
watching the WWF. I did not understand how watching fake wrestling on television altered my reality
until I grew up and now watch some of cousin s children or neighborhood children wrestle and they
expect no one to get hurt, which is rarely

Rhetorical Analysis Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Malcolm Gladwell Rhetorical Analysis In the book, Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcom Gladwell
intended to teach the readers about the many different rules that he discussed in his book, to help with
the understanding people have of success. Gladwell defines outliers as men and women who do things
that are out of the ordinary (Gladwell 17). Gladwell accurately applies the rhetorical techniques of
logos, exemplification, and repetition to effectively employ how highly successful people are outliers.
Gladwell applies logos to help persuade people to shape their opinions of how they view success. To

  • 2. Little Bit ( Mis ) Judged Little Bit (mis)Judged Throughout United States history, the nation saw many different presidents. Some terms were too short to evaluate the legacy, and others had many events that led to a mixed legacy. It is always hard to rank the presidents based on the greatest, the most impactful, or even the most overrated. Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th President of the United States, arguably had an impactful presidency, but he was also a very overrated one. His domestic policy looks good because he addressed the Civil Rights at the right time, but at the same time his War on Poverty left unanswered problems. His foreign affair was dominated by the horrid Vietnam War, but he also played a part for the CIA supported coup d etats that resulted in deaths of thousands of innocent people all over the world. In addition, Johnson did not show strong, powerful traits that most presidents should have while he was in office. One major thing that Johnson gets credit for is addressing the civil rights. He passed a couple of significant acts that allowed civil rights to African Americans. This is seen as one of his positives during his term. However, an argument can be made that this could have been accomplished during the Kennedy administration. Of course, there is much evidence that Kennedy was in fact hesitant when it came to civil rights issues, but the Cold War played a part with Kennedy s action. Timing did not help Kennedy while he was in office. During his tenure, Kennedy had to deal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analyzing Donald Crews s Freight Train I was thrilled to see Freight Train by Donald Crews on our reading list for this week! The books use of bright colors contrasting with dark shapes and lines drew me to this book. On the front cover we see a steam engine pulling train cars with gradient smoke coming from the chimney. The steam engine and cars are flat, geometric, shapes helping anchor them to the track. The billows of smoke are organic as they rise into the air. I can now see there is not only bright versus dark but a hard versus soft quality going on that will continue to stay throughout the book. As, I turn the page I am greeted with a long brown horizontal line that runs across both pages. This horizontal line is surrounded by tiny, free form, circular, shapes that make ... • 4. Ned Kelly Cruelty Such is life These words is thought to be Ned Kelly s last before he was hanged for his crimes. But who was Ned Kelly? What did Ned do that he deserved to be hanged? Why was Ned important? To many Ned Kelly is seen as a hero, to others he was seen as a villain but in either event he changed what would later be Australia. Was Ned Kelly good or bad? Before we understand Ned s story we must understand Austraila before Ned. Australia was first inhabited by the Aborigonals (the indigenous people) and was left alone by the outside world until Europeans first had set sail for the country at around 1606. Between 1606 and 1770 an estimated 54 European ships had came to Australia. Most of these European ships were from the Dutch East India Company and for a small time became New Holland. It wasn t until August of 1770 that somebody officially claimed Australia his name was Lieutenant James Cook. Cook had claimed Australia in the name for King George the Third and renamed Australia to New South Wales. Once claimed, two fleets came to Australia the first had eleven ships with about 1,350 people on it. The second fleet had provided food and supplies that were badly needed but many on the second fleet were ill and many were near death. None of the people on the second fleet were helpful to the colonies. One thing to note is that many of the people getting sent to Australia were pervious convicts not only that, but in 1790 there was one woman to four men. This made making a new colony ... Strength Weakness  Ability to serve customers at lower cost  Compaq was a significant player in enterprise systems and HP in IT services business  Wider spectrum of products for its clients through the merger  Strong brand recognition, something that takes time to build  Highly complimentary R D  Overlapping management  Overlapping product lines  Diluted interests in imaging and printing which were traditionally HP s strengths Opportunity Threat  The next IBM? The expected cost synergies (as announced by HP) are approximately $2.5 billion . This amounts to approximately $0.83 per share in the merged firm. The market value of Compaq at the time was approximately $21 billion pre merger announcement, meaning that a reasonable price for Compaq should be $23.5 billion. So the final exchange ratio price of $25 billion includes a premium of 6.3% or $1.5 billion. Considering that the PC market had matured and was faced with increasing competition with price undercutting by competitors, the price offered by HP seems rather optimistic. (Refer to HP Compaq key note slides)  One of the assumptions is the P/E of 15x to 25x. Is this justified? 0  Is the discount rate of 15% justified? (Look at the back and use beta to calculate). If you calculate it, it seems reasonable. (Beta for HP is 1.5 and 15% discount rate is viable)  Revenue loss of $4.1 billion. Where could this come from? ANS: Overlapping businesses and cannibalisation of products and hence natural revenue loss. Question 3 (exhibit 5 7 ) Conduct a simple valuation of Compaq. Does your valuation differ significantly from the HP offer price and why? Do you think the offer price is appropriate? • 6. Operational Level Command And Control Requires Both The Operational level command and control requires both the effective execution of mission command and integration of the joint functions. During Operation Husky, the Allies did not have a shared understanding of the mission, did not have a clear understanding of commander s intent, and did not exhibit mutual trust during the campaign. Disjointed Mission Command repeatedly prevented the Allies from capitalizing on the Allies collective combat power. While the Allied Naval forces came through with incredible logistical accomplishments in the joint function of sustainment, the Allies poor execution of movement and maneuver ultimately allowed Germany s withdraw from Sicily. Although the Allies failed to put forth a united effort, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the campaign, General Alexander s inability to grasp the significance of a German withdrawal echoed the Allies lack of understanding at the Casablanca Conference. On the ground, neither LTG Patton s 7th Army nor Montgomery s 8th Army understood that the true center of gravity for the campaign lay in defeating the German forces and preventing their withdrawal. Instead, the 7th Army and 8th Army sacked one town after another and got mired in various embattlements, which gave the Germans enough time to withdraw to Italy in significant numbers. This strategic blunder was a direct result of the lack of understanding. Commander s intent, the second key component of Mission Command, provides subordinate commanders and units with a clear and concise expression of the purpose of the operation and the desired military end state. Leaders who understand the commander s intent can use that information to fill in any gaps in information as those commanders move their units on the battlefield. In doing so, commanders can achieve battlefield synergy when faced with poor communications from higher. The Casablanca Conference left U.S. service members, and their general officers with an imperfect understanding of the ultimate purpose of Operation Husky. • 7. Literary Analysis Of Hester At Her Needle The phrase Hester At Her Needle was never used once, however, all but one appeared outside of chapter five, which was ommitted since it appeared within the title. In chapter three, the shortened phrase at her needle was used by an aforementioned matron to describe Hester s needlework, tying it to her fantastical presentation of her punishment and titular scarlet letter. The following chapters Pearl and The Governor s Hall were not included due to the overwhelming usage of Pearl since it was the name of a main character, and Governor s Hall did not make an appearance outside of a title, making it impossible to delve deeper into its usage. Elf child was used five times to reference Pearl, which made up half of the eighth chapter s title, The Elf Child and the Minister , since Minister was overwhelmingly used in lieu of Dimmesdale, making its usage ineffective to connect to other chapters since it also appeared in chapter twenty s title. Elf child first debuted within the eighth chapter title, followed by usage in chapters fifteen, nineteen, and twenty four, making it rather delayed and its meaning obvious. First being used in chapter fifteen, Pearl was causing mischief and harmed a bird, which she quickly came to regret and gave up on throwing even more pebbles at even more birds. Once again in the wilderness, Pearl was once again described as an elf child in chapter sixteen as she left Hester, who went deeper into the forest. In chapter nineteen, Hester ... • 11. The Cold War And The War Era The Cold War era was an infamous time in United States history. The stand off between the USSR and the US lasted nearly forty five years, and began shortly after World War II had ended. Even though the USSR and the US had been Allied Powers during the war, Stalin s ruling of his country frightened the United States, and the US s late entry in the war caused Russian resentment. The tension the Cold War caused terrified everyone and pressured the United States government to start preparing for desperate measures. The US began mass producing nuclear bombs, increasing production four times over, and even started working to create the first fusion hydrogen bomb (History, 2009). It the stress of the Cold War that caused Rocky Flats to be constructed. Rocky Flats was a plutonium processing plant in Colorado, just 26km north west of Denver (Coates, 2014). During its life it manufactured fission cores that were to be used to detonate hydrogen bombs. The science they used to construct the fission cores utilized the discoveries made during WWII. However after the FBI s raid in 1989, it was quickly shut down for good. Although the site has received a massive cleanup from the government and community, its impact on Colorado can still be seen today. From early childhood he took an interest in reading. Fascinated by history, he formed an almost mystical formation of service to France. De Gaulle graduated from the Ecole Militaire of Saint Cyr in 1912 and joined an infantry division. In World War I he was wounded and captured at Douaumont in the Battle of Verdun in March 1916. As a war prisoner, he wrote his first book, published in 1924 called La discorde chez l ennemi. Roosevelt, who thought of him as a potential dictator and he only saw de Gaulle as an obstacle to U. S. relations with the Vichy government. In July 1940 a French court martial sentenced de Gaulle to death for treason. In 1942, de Gaulle s Free French movement gained a lot of power and influence, winning over the French colonies in West Africa, and set up close relationships with the underground Resistance group in France itself. • 15. Symptoms And Severity Of A Knee Ligament Miller (2015) depicts that the symptoms and severity of a knee ligament sprain relies on upon the level of stretching or tearing of the ligament. In his study he has included 3 grades of knee ligament sprain. 1) In a mild grade 1: knee ligament sprain, the ligaments may extend but they don t actually tear. The joint cannot swell or hurt very much. It can increase the risk of injury again. 2) With a moderate evaluation II sprain: Bruising and swelling are most common sign. Ligaments get partially torn and more painful. 3) With a severe grade III sprain: A ligament tears totally, bleeding under the skin, and swelling. Thus, the joint become unstable and not able to bear weight. In grade 3 sprain, all pain fibers are torn so there is no pain at the time of the injury. Medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament injuries are most common in Soccer players. Management: Mangine et al (2015) in Management of the Patient with an ACL/MCL injured knee He has established a treatment plan based on type of ligament injuries. 1) Medial or lateral meniscus tear 2) Degree of MCL tear and ACL tear 3) Capsular damage and chrondral surface injury. • 16. The Importance of School Counselors A school counselor s role is vital in many schools across America. Many students see their counselor, to work on any emotional stressors, academic changes and challenges. This may include, interventions, group therapy and changes in class schedule, but sometimes with all the implementations given, students do not succeed in school. Perhaps one needs to take a closer look at the programs being implemented and its success rate. In addition, a counselor should guide itself using the ASCA (American School Counselor Association) to provide evidence based practices in schools. According to Carey and Dimmitt, it is essential for counselors to use evidence based practice to make sure they are able to ensure and improve student outcomes (2008). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I find it this more reasonable and effective for a counselor to do. A research based program has done all the work of creating a variable (experimental group) and a control group to show if a program s effectiveness. This means the counselor can see the results of the experimental group and see if this would work for the group intended. As mentioned by Carey and Dimmitt, research based interventions ensure that the school s resources are invested wisely. This means, the counselor can rely on the program and be able to predict positive outcomes. Another method for a counselor to use science in their practice is to make sure the intervention or program used has strong research support. While many may not hold strong support to be shown to be effective, a counselor must evaluate its effectiveness for the students. I find this part of science more difficult for counselors to implement due to time constraints and resources. While there may be many programs out there, not all may be ideal for all schools. The counselor can experiment and see if works well for the intended students or perhaps continue to find more research to back up the program. Often times, this leads to counselors developing their own programs or curriculum but their outcomes be unknown and not as valid as solid research based programs. Therefore, if the ... Wilfredo Lam s Untitled, 1953 and Matta s Untitled (Flying People Eaters), 1942 share a wall in gallery 397 of the AIC. The two drawings were completed within 12 years of each other, and they seem be in conversation as surrealist compositions. Both pieces incorporate primitivist imagery into their engagement with the surreal. However, where Matta uses this imagery to further Freudian shock value and bring forward abject discomfort, Lam uses primitive symbology to discuss notions of Afro Cuban identity through a cubist and surreal lens. This figure s body is cropped, leaving the viewer with only its torso and head. While portions of this figure s body are more humanoid than the previous, (a pronounced shoulder and breast ground the character) once we move up from these shoulders the body seems to break into geometric abstraction. A spiky neck extends and transforms into a sort of scaffolding to hold up the mask face. This figure is also decorated with flowers and hair like protrusions, suggesting an almost ritualistic garb. Taking up the entire right side of the composition a third character ascends a staircase and rests one hand on a disjointed platform. This figure wears an elaborate headdress, fabric sash and holds a large knife tucked at it s side. The figure s long toes curl around the top stair where it stands surveying the other two figures. This figure also has a tail, and the same mirroring happens between the extending hairs of the headdress and the hairs of its tail as with the candle light and tail of the first figure. The decorations and prominence of this figure give it an air of spiritual significance, the word priest seems apt. Behind this figure is the forth and final figure of the composition. • 23. The Multiculturalism And Education Policy Multiculturalism and Education Policy How we educate our students is a contentious topic. Many stakeholders have different ideas about what will make our schools more successful. Without going into great detail about the past, it is safe to say the current paradigm is one of standards and assessment. Schools have gone back to basics reading, math, science, and little else (Newman, 2013). In order to be considered successful, schools have resorted to teaching to the standardized tests. Effective school advocates believe that the country should pay less attention to racial issues and student racial composition of schools and instead concentrate on academic quality only (Newman, 2006). I do not agree. I do not feel that school success is an all or nothing venture where we have to decide between concentrating only on academic quality or multicultural issues. Instead, I think that concentrating on multiculturalism issues, such as racial issues and racial composition of schools, creates a nurturing and supportive environment thereby improving academic quality. Although education is often promoted as a pathway out of poverty, American educational disparities are such that the families with the greatest need are often relegated to the least adequate educational resources (Sue Sue, 2013). 60 years after de jure segregation was outlawed, schools are almost as segregated as they were before desegregation (Hannah Jones, 2014). Technical violations can range from a curfew to stipulations that the parole must not drink alcohol or be in a house that contains alcohol. These technical violations, while some may consider small or insignificant violation, can cause hardships and negative outcomes for the parolee. Many of these acts of violence would leave a person greatly injured or dead, but in the cartoons the character on the screen is unaffected and ready to try again in the next scene or segment.
