How To Scope Out An Office That Fits Your Values
The way we work has change very drastic. Instead of working in a cubical most day, we have the
chance to work at home and do work online, or even to be in a foreign countries and still be able to
work miles away. In the article How to Scope Out an Office That Fits Your Values, the environment
that you work is very important. The accuracy of what they are saying surprise me. Because the
environment that you work on does have an effect on your work productivity. Even at home you have
your environment that you work on and if something changes it affects how focus you are on your
school work. Meaning that we need to look for a work environment that we can feel productive in.

Relational Leadership Class Analysis
This class addressed vital issues impacting the business world from the position of a leader. It
explored the standards of relational leadership and how to create group and individual leadership skills
to influence lives groups and organizations. Content of the course included effective communications,
setting goals, decision making service leadership and many more leadership styles, and effective ways
to implement change. I covered some basic concepts that are important to personal skills development
and some leadership behaviors.
To me, a leader is somebody who exhibits exceptional devotion to his or her team, and is willing to do
whatever it takes to unite the team. A leader injects a feeling of positivity and guides others to achieve
predetermined goals. This leadership is the process in which a person influence a group (adherents) to
accomplish a shared objective. The objective is achieved by mutual affirmation and a cohesive
behavior. One of the end goals of leadership is to get results through others, and the method for
achieving this include the ability to develop goal oriented, cohesive groups. Since knowledge is power
naturally, for the individuals who trust power is the quintessence of leadership will presume that the
individuals who have more knowledge and insight will make great leaders. This is not generally
correct. I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In leadership, leaders get his power from his group members. He proceeds in this position at the
pleasure of members in his group collectively. The position of leadership exists in most settings
regardless of group size. For instance, a leader of national or universal standing has vast influence
over an expansive number of individuals while the influence of small group in a company is extremely
constrained. Both are leaders in their own right and satisfy our definition of

Persian Empire Chapter Summaries
The Achaemenid Persian Empire (559 330 B.C.) As we are introduced to the Great Persian Empire,
we find that Amy Chua s thesis talks about how tolerance was critical in allowing the Persians to not
only establish and prosper their world dominant empire, but to maintain it for over two centuries. The
thesis of the book, Day of Empire by Amy Chua, is about the study of colossal power and the
conditions needed to maintain it . Not only this, but it discusses the contest between ethnic purity and
ethnic pluralism . Amy Chua argues that The Achaemenid Persian Empire was one of the first hyper
powers in world history, governing a territory larger than all the ancient empires, including even Rome
s. (Day of Empire pg. 4) Along with this, she argues that the Persian Empire was one of the most
culturally diverse and religiously open empires in history. (Day of Empire pg. 4) Therefore, the author
argues that The Persian Empire is relevant when discussing large powerful world authorities with a
large size, long period of ruling, and ethnic tolerance it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the king Xerces started ruling, the beginning of the decline of tolerance and the Persian Empire as
a whole began. Although we do not have the exact facts from this late time period, historians have
studied Greek depictions of increasing brutality and repression of the later Achaemenid kings,
provoking violent uprisings among the subject people. (Day of Empire pg. 21) The pivotal point of
failure occurred when Darius III took the power of the Empire. During this time, growing intolerance,
unrest, and violence (Day of Empire pg. 21) was happening amongst the subject peoples. As more and
more people were conquered, the Persian Empire had so many diverse people that there was no unity
amongst the Persian Empire. Soon, the whole empire came to a fall when Alexander of Macedon
began to conquer cities and replace the Persian

Wakefield High School Sports Injury
Throughout my junior and senior years of high school I was a part of the Student Athletic Training
Team in the Sports Medicine Department of Wakefield High School. To help better understand the
injuries that the team encountered in the field, I enrolled in the Sports Medicine classes that were
offered by the school. The classes were taught by the head athletic trainer for the school who believed
in hands on learning, especially for his student trainers. During the duration of the course and my time
as a member of the team, I saw numerous different types of injuries; but there were three that occurred
most often: an ankle sprain, a muscle strain, and a rotator cuff tear.
The most common injury in athletes is an ankle sprain, which is an injury ... Show more content on

There will be a palpable defect in the superficial muscle otherwise known as the muscle towards the
top layer of the area, indicating the rupture of individual fibers or the entire muscle. Because grade
three strains usually cause a break in the normal outline of the muscle, there may be an obvious,
visible dent or gap under the skin where the affected muscle has come apart. A complete rupture will
cause the muscle to hemorrhage or bleed and can cause diffuse swelling in some cases. Diffuse
swelling often causes the injury to be unable to fully resolve due to the increased fluid in the area

Because of designing the track layout through calculate the train movement is a complicated

Movement West
Movement west was a controversial topic in 1800 s, many people believed that it would be beneficial
to grow west but some thought that life out west was too harsh and that we would not gain anything
from moving west.
Edwin James studied botany, geology and medicine; he was commanded by, Major Stephen H. Long
to ascend the Platte River and explore the Red River, Arkansas River, South Fork and the Colorado
Rockies. On their exposition they traveled to the Canadian River, New Mexico, and Texas where they
struggled from the poor amount of food sources available in the area. His tales from the Great
American Desert was upsetting to the government. (Carpenter)

The Five Leading Causes Of Effective Communication In The...
Every business in the world may have different principles about running their company. However,
every business strives for creating effective communication in the workplace. If there is not effective
communication in the workplace, then companies will not grow internally and as a result, they lose
revenue or go out of business. According to Michael Faraday, he stated, The five essential
entrepreneurial skills for success are concentration, discrimination, organization, innovation, and
communication. If a company does not have effective communication, they will not reach their full
potential or diversify themselves from their competition. Effective communication in the workplace
means, communicating with a diverse population, managing conflict in a healthy way, and using two
communication process if a disagreement occurred between staff members.
According to Tuner and West, (2017), they stated, We live in a society that is more culturally diverse
than ever (p. 81). At the workplace, more jobs are starting to become diverse. If a person thinks about
diversity in companies it is more common than uncommon. In today s society it is common to see
someone from Mexico, India , Saudi Arabia, Africa, or other descents all working at the same
establishment. While this creates a variety of diversity, it is one of the leading cause of poor
communication in the workplace. Many people from different cultures, majority of the time, do not
understand someone from another culture. For

Fortunato Monologue
My confession
For fifty years I ve been living with the guilt that I killed my closest friend Fortunato, and now I m on
the verge of dying. Cough!
The year was 1875 I was resting in my bed because I was sick with the flu, I knew myself that I wasn t
going to survive especially when the doctor was out of town.
Please hold on dear, the doctor is on his way , my beloved wife Elizabeth said.
Elizabeth, ugh! Ugh! NO, save your strength , said Elizabeth. Elizabeth listen to me, I m afraid I don t
have much time, ugh! Ugh!
Before I die I must confess my sin, I need to get rid of this guilt before I leave this world , I said to my
wife. She looked confused and went to get a tissue from the cabinet to wipe the sweat on my face.

expression on her face.
What s wrong Elizabeth?
How did you killed Fortunato? , she replied.
Well, I tricked him into following me deep the catacombs of the palazzo and buried him alive and ever
since then , I regret it.
You demon! Elizabeth shouted and started to back away a few steps.
` I ll understand if you would to stop loving me and leave my side, it s just I didn t couldn t live with
this guilt anymore, I m sorry , I started to cry tears.
Elizabeth didn t say anything back, she went to the cabinet and grabbed a knife.
I felt a chill down my spine, what are you doing Elizabeth?
It s all you fault , she replied in an angry tone.
Because of you I had to marry you, I loved Fortunato with all of my heart, and when I heard that he
had disappeared I felt that my world was falling apart! she started to walk towards me with the knife.
Elizabeth , I started to cry.

Blanding s Turtle Populations
By comparing the observed heterozygosity of two Blanding s turtle populations, it was determined
that Area 1 had significantly greater observed heterozygosity than Area 2. The lower observed
heterozygosity found in Area 2 may have been caused by the founder effect, resulting in a loss of
genetic variation. The founder effect occurs when a new population is established by a small group of
migrants from a larger population. The founder effect involves a random sampling of alleles during
the reproduction of consecutive generations; when a small population is isolated, it may amplify the
loss of genetic variation as individuals may become increasingly genotypically similar after each
subsequent generation. Eventually, the alleles may become fixed ... Show more content on

Population bottlenecks occur when a population undergoes a large reduction in size as a result of
environmental events or human activities. As a result, genetic variation may decrease as certain alleles
may be over presented, under presented, or completely absent. Consequently, the genetic variation
may continue to decline throughout subsequent generations as smaller populations, with less genetic
diversity, sexually reproduce, passing on a limited amount of genes to future offspring. Furthermore,
heterozygosity in these populations may decrease as a result of inbreeding. Inbreeding occurs when
two closely related individuals reproduce; inbreeding may cause the accumulation of homozygous
recessive genes and a decrease in genetic variation. Additionally, infrequently occurring alleles, rather
than common alleles, may face a greater chance of being lost, which may further decrease the level of
genetic diversity. As the population continues to decline, the genetic drift may be intensified as a result
of increasing genetic limitations. Similarly, Rubin et al. (2001) compared smaller, isolated populations
of Blanding s turtles found in the Greater Chicago area to larger populations found in Michigan, Nova
Scotia and Wisconsin, and determined, by using amplified polymorphic DNA, that the smaller
populations had a loss of genetic variation in comparison to the

Death in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening Essay
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening A Stop for Death
Everyone feels burdened by life at some point. Everyone wishes they could just close their eyes and
make all the problems and struggles of life disappear. Some see death as a release from the chains and
ropes with which the trials and tribulations of life bind the human race. Death is a powerful theme in
literature, symbolized in a plethora of ways. In Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Eve Robert Frost uses
subtle imagery, symbolism, rhythm and rhyme to invoke the yearning for death that the weary traveler
of life feels.
When the speaker in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Eve pauses for a moment s rest, he does not do
so on a simple evening, but on the darkest evening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Winter is a time of cold, when forests die and animals hide from the shrieking winds and biting cold.
Winter is a time for survival against the odds. How apt that the speaker is struggling against the lovely,
dark and deep woods to remember that he has miles to go before [he] sleep[s]. The easy wind calls to
him, and the downy flake beckons him to a comfortable sleep. If the speaker had paused on a bright
summer day, the sleep might be just a short rest, but the poem is set on the darkest evening of the year
while the woods fill up with snow, and any rest taken in the lovely, dark and deep woods would result
in the eternal sleep of death (474).
Sleep is another common symbol for death, and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is filled with
the essence of sleep. Every element of the poem works together to create a lullaby effect, calling the
speaker and reader to a lovely, dark and deep sleep (474). The gentle imagery of the downy soft snow
and easy wind, combined with the cadence and meter of the poem creates a lulling, rocking, soothing
effect. The AABB rhyme scheme and the iambic quatrameter create a lullaby feeling, easing the
reader in to a comfortable sleep.
The last two lines act as a slap in the face. Every element works toward death, and the speaker almost
slips into eternal rest. One can see him, putting the

friends that are seen as the class clowns or troublemakers of their school, Jerome Horwitz Elementary.
They are constantly pulling pranks including changing a sign that says Please Wash Your Hands After

The necessity of having power over children is an effort to maintain the status quo. There is a need to
control the environment, especially that of elementary school in order to keep the peace and maintain
some semblance of order. It s always stood that children are expected to look up to and respect all
people in positions of authority. But, as stated in Gibron s article, teachers and administrators believe
that because the children enjoy the books, and laugh at them, that they identify with the protagonists
and their adventures, and they fear that children will try to recreate those scenarios. It becomes a threat
to the status quo when children start experiencing that inner freedom that reading Captain Underpants
gives children (Gibron). Although the books have been criticized for their anti authoritative tone , this
isn t why the books were banned in Naugatuck, Connecticut. Don t forget how does this tie into one of

Truman And The Cold War
The United States came out of World War II ready to concentrate on domestic issues, but
unfortunately, the more pressing issue of the Cold War needed addressing. Democracy and
communism challenged the world order and the United States and the USSR took center stage on
determining the world s economic, social and political future for the next forty five years. Each
American president handled the power differently, acted on what he thought was in the best interest of
the United States, and took on the Cold War through words and actions that often translated to real
war but never directly with Russia.
The basis of the idea was clearly spoken in a 1946 cable by U.S. peacekeeper George F. Kennan

The Second President Of The United States
The third president of the United States, the writer of the Declaration of Independence, the creator of
the University of Virginia, and the Statue of Virginia for religious freedom are all terms that have been
used to describe one of the most influential and devoted people in American history, Thomas
Jefferson. He published many works that expressed his views of how to strengthen government in
America and put power in the hands of the citizens (Wagoner, 2004, pg.19). Throughout my learning
experience, Jefferson has been one of the three presidents, besides Andrew Jackson and Abraham
Lincoln, who I have gained an interest in because of what he accomplished during his presidency and
his advocacy for a better system of government in the premature years of the United States. Jefferson
is important to American history because he immediately made a huge impact on American society by
envisioning the way he wanted to see America operate and what he envisioned is reflected through the
lives of many Americans today including myself. For instance, Jefferson and Education is a book that
was focused on his viewpoint of education, while Jefferson and Nature was about nature. During
Jefferson s lifetime, his views on education and nature have influenced the school system and the
ways Americans rights have been established.
Jefferson was born April 13, 1743 and lived until July 4, 1826. Jefferson was the governor of Virginia
during the Revolutionary War. As governor of Virginia, he wrote

The Jfk Airport Is The Best And Worst Experience Of My Life
I grew up in a little, one red light town, where we have one festival a year that celebrates blueberries,
where playing in the mud is not an unusual thing, and where being barefoot is almost normal. I live in
the country. The country is my home. So, to think that I would ever end up on a three week stay in a
place where the horns never stop honking, the sirens never ceased to exist, and the people are within
arms distance all around you, would be crazy. I mean going to the Big Apple , it is an insane idea. The
only thing around here that s big is our barns. I believe that going to New York City was the best and
worst experience of my life. The plane ride was an experience that I definitely enjoyed. It was my first
time on a plane and, it just makes sense because you get to a place in half the time and, it s also fun.
The JFK airport is a whole experience in itself. The airport is a mall, a restaurant, a spa, a liquor store,
and many other things all in one. Stepping out into the streets of New York is like stepping into altered
universe. The horns are screamed in your ear, the people are shuffling across the street before the
orange hand comes up to tell them to stop walking (I felt more like a pack mule crossing the street

Thucydides And The Peloponnesian War
Thucydides was born in 460 B.C.E in a noble family, which was linked to Athens and its leaders. He
was one of the greatest ancient Greek historians and author of the History of the Peloponnesian War,
in which he describes the struggle between Athens and Sparta. Thucydides was also interested in the
technical part of the war. He focused on the difficulties and possibilities in a war between the powerful
land force of Sparta along its allies and the powerful naval force of Athens. He observed that the
strategic interaction of states followed a visible and repeated pattern.
According to him the relationship of states in a system is dependent on the hierarchal system they
have. Therefore he concluded that any alteration in the hierarchy of the powerful states would
extremely shake the structure of their system while any alteration in the status of the weak states
would make no difference to the system. Thucydides relates this conclusion to the Peloponnesian War
because he believed that the outbreak of war was a result of the change in their system as the power of
the Athenian state was growing and attempting to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In my opinion this image of international relations Thucydides draws seems a bit two faced since it is
the lack of international relations that leads to a lack of central government, which then creates an
anarchic world. Thucydides focuses way too much on competitiveness over power and strength and
how it can cause conflict and war between to parties. He ignores the possibility that opposing party s

The Aryan National Liberation Front
Arthur Buzz Hirsch, a St. Joseph News Press reporter, conducted a background investigation on the
Aryan National Liberation Front (ANLF). This group is one of white supremacist and anti government
ideology. This group, according to confidential sources, is involved in harassment and tax evasion.
Two incidents, a bombing on February 12th (which two men have been arrested for) and a shooting
that took place on March 10th, are believed to be connected to the ANLF. However, a confidential
sources says the ANLF has nothing to do with the shooting. Recently, police and a member of the
prosecutor s office showed up at the News Press offices with a warrant, demanding Hirsch to turn over
all notes, research materials, and recordings relating to the ANLF. Also, he was urged to identify his
sources. Hirsch refused to do both. Whether or not the prosecuting office can demand Hirsch to turn
over any information depends on court precedents and current laws. In Branzburg v. Hayes (1972), the
Supreme Court decided the First Amendment did not grant reportorial privilege in the court. This
means journalists and other members of the press cannot use freedom of speech as a defense in order
to not testify. This includes if a source was meant to be confidential. Lower courts interpreted
Branzburg differently. In the case of Branzburg, reportorial privilege was unnecessary. Later with
Zerilli v. Smith (1981), the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals concluded that reportorial privilege existed.

emotion is just as important. The essay focused primarily on the positive aspects of interaction and
barely touches upon the negative. Fredrickson makes it seem as though love is the only emotion the
human body needs in order to survive, but that is false. Human social interaction is all composed of
psychology and biology. Every human is different, and not all expect to receive positive resonance
when speaking to another. In actuality, negative emotions are necessary for one to develop and fully
understand the positive... being happy all the time is absurd
Fredrickson claims that positivity resonance is beneficial to the human body. Despite this, there are
several negative social interactions that occur everyday. She seems to be suggesting that people should
only be positive. Though many people try desperately to attain a lifetime of happiness and positivity,
they cannot. Humans have several different emotions, and no one can be positive all the time. When
an infant and parent do click, their coordinated motions and emotions show lots of mutual positive
engagement... They connect over mutual distress or indifference, rather than over mutual affection
(Fredrickson 116 117). During this experiment, it is proved that children and parents connect over how
they engage with one

Essay # 2
Three Perspectives of They Came Like Swallows by William Maxwell
In the novel They Came Like Swallows , author William Maxwell tells the same story from three
different perspectives, each one being told from a point of view by a different character in the family
from the novel. The first perspective was told by the youngest son in the family, Peter (nicknamed
Bunny ), the second perspective told by the older son, Robert, and the third and last perspective told
by the father/husband, James Morrison. Each member from the family holds important aspects when it
comes to closeness between family members. These aspects are told from a different side from each
speaker s outlook, however, these different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every point of view from the novel is solely based on where the story begins and where it ends.
Bunny, Robert, and James have a different point of view of Elizabeth. One perspective explains how
Elizabeth is seen as a heroic figure.
Another perspective explains how she is the person being protected. The final perspective points out
how and why Elizabeth was and will still be remembered as an important part and figure to the family
in the novel. It is believed that the story probably would not have the same understanding had it been
told from only one perspective by one of the main characters or the author himself. Each perspective
explains the development of her character overtime, more likely as what is noted of her as the novel
continues throughout.
The first part of the story is told from Bunny s perspective. He is learned to be the center of attention
in his family. Bunny is rather an insider who is attached to and heavily relies on protection from his
mother (Elizabeth Morison). Bunny was the one known to be the most favored child and put first in
line over his older brother Robert. From day in and day out , Robert has constantly made Bunny s life
miserable as possible. Meanwhile, the 1918 influenza

My Father bought a watch and my mom bought some dry food. By the way let me tell you that the
foods there are a little bit different from Indonesian food, Indonesian s is more tasty. The food there is
not salty or spicy so according to me it s tasteless. One more thing to tell about Taiwanesse habit is
they only take a bath once a day in the evening. In the morning they wash their face and brush their
teeth and the ready to go to work, they usually have bao or in Indonesia we call it bapao for breakfast.
It seems strange to me at first but on the other hand it s also weird for them that we Indonesian people
take a bath twice a day. After several days we went back to Indonesia, for me it s really an awesome
retreat. I m not regret to go there. That I went to Taiwan for retreat is wonderful. Being there for
several days made me got a new experience and knowledge even I had to take off from school for 8
days and when I came back to shool my class friends and my teacher looked at me with a weird

Ethics Of Animal Use In Research
The Ethics of Animal Use in Research Some of the earliest records on animal testing date back to
ancient Greek philosophers and physicians such as Aristotle (1). Since then, the use of animals in
experimentation has grown tremendously and has evolved into an indispensable arm of biology.
Whether it be to test the effects of various chemicals on living organisms or developing a model of a
disease for future study, biology makes ample use of model organisms for a variety of purposes and
without their implementation many of the medical advancements we enjoy today would not exist.
Despite their deep and widespread historical use, the ethical considerations of using these animals is
still a highly debated topic around the world. This essay will argue that animal use is vital to the
advancement of biology and that ample ethical standards are in place to ensure they receive the ...

Exploring Evelyn s Anxiety
Client History:
Evelyn is a 23 year old female who presents with anxiety when tasked with presenting potentially
controversial topics publically. She is a writer, and has frequently been too nervous about her
controversial pieces that she frequently wrote anonymously in the past. She is an avid follow of St.
Thomas Aquinas. Evelyn has dependency needs that came about after an unpleasant experience when
her father became angry when he left her family.

Evelyn has developed anxiety when it comes to public speaking. She becomes anxious whenever she

I felt it necessary to point out how strong and brave she was to call out practices in a public format
that many may not agree with. When asked why she did not put her name on her editorial pieces,
Evelyn disclosed that she was afraid of what others would think of her writing about controversial
topics. This brought us into some gender role analysis. She mentioned that the boys were the members
of the paper that got the interesting and controversial stories, while the female journalists received
assignments for more fluff pieces, so she was uncomfortable writing something against the norm with
her name attached. I mentioned to Evelyn how great it was that she was able to pull herself away from
the standard female fluff pieces and really write thought provoking articles, even if that was not what
was expected of her. As Evelyn continued to explain more about her time writing, she mentioned that
she became more willing to attach her name to many of her articles after becoming a follower of St.
Thomas Aquinas, who encourages owning up to and taking responsibility for one s own personal
views. She said that through those readings, she became more confident, adding her name to
controversial pieces, however it led to severe anxiety whenever she needed to present

Analysis Of The Poem The Worst Goodbye
The Worst Goodbye
My eyes has never been the puffiest. I was sobbing, like a child, the night before my childhood best
friend, Myka, leaves for college in the Philippines. She will not be coming back after she finishes
college and so, family and friends gathered at the airport to say all our goodbyes. My friends and I
gave her a book containing all the memories we ve experienced together since we were children. We
were drowning in tears because we were all going our separate ways. I tried to make people stop
crying by being positive and cracking up jokes, yet I was the one bawling harder than anyone. My
crying face is the most hideous, monstrous feature that I m proud of because it made people s stomach
hurt from all the laughing.
An hour before Myka departs, I received a call from my other friend, Angelica, who was leaving at the
same time as Myka, but at different airlines. I m leaving today and can you please see me before I fly
off? Angelica begged. We had a close relationship since intermediate school. Angelica was going to
American Airlines while Myka was going to Philippine Airlines. Myka wanted everyone to see her fly
off, however, because Angelica wanted me to see her, as well, I asked Myka if I could go and see her
for a while. She hesitated, then replied Be here by 10:10
a.m. I m leaving at 10:30 . By the time I left, it was 9:45 a.m.

In a small midwestern town in Villisca, Iowa rests the quiet house of Josiah B. Moore and Sarah
Montgomery Moore, who were both killed with an ax around midnight along with their 4 children

bounded rationality because they tend to make their choices that serve their objectives, but they have
limited ability to acquire and process information. Consumers that buy fantastic brand cleaner can also
be considered as bounded rationality because they believe in the rule of thumbs that says the higher
the price of goods the higher quality of the goods will be. Since the price of Fantastik brand cleaner is
higher than that of Pathmark, they apply the rule of thumbs before making a choice between the two
brands. 2. Based on my own prior experience as a shopper, I can definitely agree that the rule of
thumb is rarely valid with a genuine evidence from my personal experience as a shopper e.g. there was
a time I bought a pair of jeans from one of my favorite stores at a very low price without considering
the quality of the jeans and a friend of mine also bought the same pair of jeans from a different store at
a higher price believing in the rule of thumb( the higher the price the higher the quality of the item).
Unfortunately, my friend s pair of jeans completely fades out and the zip also worn out while mine
that I got from a very low price without applying the rule of thumbs still looks good and well kept.

The Soviet Leader Vladimir Lenin And The New Millennium Essay
Introduction: One step forwards, two steps back. This was the mantra of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin
as he consolidated power during the 2nd Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in
1903 (Lenin 1941). In the statement, Lenin illustrates the idea that every attempt or step towards
progress only succeeded in creating new challenges, new problems, out from the woodworks. Sixteen
years into the 21st Century, this catchphrase seems to be the running theme, or perhaps joke, of the
new millennium. The internet has connected all of humanity in ways that have never before been seen
throughout the history of mankind, yet it also opened the door for cyber terrorism, illegal surveillance,
and the efficient propagation of dangerous hateful ideologies. Progress in the field of medicine races
forwards at the speed of light, but pharmaceutical companies are greedy. They hold onto their patents
with vice grips and raise prices of essential medications while they cost only pennies to produce.
Progress is like Pandora s box in that it proliferates the spread of evil, greed, and corruption, while the
fragile hope that remains in the jar continues the human race in its attempts to move forward. We tell
ourselves, Maybe we ll get it right this time. This time we ll learn for our predecessors mistakes. Very
rarely do these hopes materialize. Politics, especially politics, have not escaped this one step forwards,
two steps back mantra. Laws have been put into place to protect

Implementing A Sustainable Society Out Of Our Own Country
For my sustainable society I redesigned the central United States and set up new rules, regulations and
a code of responsibility for U.S citizens to start abiding by in order to become sustainable by reducing
carbon emissions and becoming more of a community based society. I choose to do the U.S because I
thought I was an interesting task to think about what it would take to make a sustainable society out of
our own country. The U.S is the second top producer of CO2 emissions in the world and it directly
correlates without dependency on fossil fuels for producing energy. (EPA, 2008). This is why my first
thought about creating a sustainable society out of the U.S then we would have to greatly reduce, and
if not that, totally abolish natural gas production in the U.S. Obviously in a real life setting this would
seem that it would tear the country apart however I think the solution would be to start encouraging
and rewarding those individuals and organizations that a using renewable energy and give them things
such as take breaks and government funding. At the same time we would need to stop subsidizing gas
slowly over time in order to make it more appealing to the average American to switch from natural
gas. Renewable energy companies would be able to create enough jobs to replace those in the natural
gas industry. According to the International Renewable Energy Association renewable energy has
already created over 7.7 million jobs worldwide (IRENA, 2016). The U.S gas and oil

Case Study Of The Wendigo Psychosis
Introduction Certain mental illnesses are unique to cultures. They are recognizable only within a
particular society, at a particular time. Such disorders are medically and anthropologically known as
culture bound or culture specific syndromes. There are a number of fascinating culture bound
syndromes found around the world, and one such disorder is the Wendigo Psychosis. This mental
condition is linked to Native American culture, specifically to certain northern tribes such as;
Chippewa, Ojibwa, Cree, and Inuit. The Psychosis was most popular in the 19th century, and was
usually found to have developed during winter months when families were isolated due to heavy
snowfall, and there was not enough food supplies to get them through the tough months. Symptoms
The signs that point to the disorder were thought to be psychosomatic. Depression, distaste for
ordinary foods leading to poor appetite, nausea and vomiting, a state of semi stupor, are the initial
symptoms of the Wendigo Psychosis. Once the symptoms set in, the victim s ... Show more content on

From the case studies and witness accounts is was very clear that the individuals suffering from the
disorder were not in the right state of mind. They perceived those around them to look like a variety of
edible animals, and were deluded into craving human flesh. Their delusions, when serious, drove them
to act out violently, and attack those around them. Psychiatrists who have studied the disorder have
also tried to explain it by applying other psychological conditions to it. Since one of the main causes
for the psychosis is starvation, anorexia is seen to be associated. Individuals suffering from anorexia
have been known to go through extreme and dramatic mood swings, as well as phases of insomnia.
Linking these symptoms to the Wendigo, the delusions could have arisen due to insomnia, or they
could have been acting on delusions because of extreme mood

Classical Vs. Modern Music
Classical vs. Modern Music
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. He was born to an
overbearing and ambitious father, Leopold, who was more than anxious to exploit his son s
extraordinary musical gifts. Mozart began composing at an early age, and he began touring around the
same time. Throughout his life, Mozart made many enemies, many his own fault, through his naive
arrogance and harsh critique of his musical contemporaries. He worked feverishly, composing
symphonies and operas, as well as touring constantly. Mozart died of overwork and kidney failure on
the 5th of December 1791 while still ironically at work on the Requiem Mass for an unknown patron.
Though he lived for a relatively short time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emmanuel Krivine conducted the performance, with featured soloists Joshua Bell (Vieuxtemps violin
concerto) and Stewart Goodyear (Mozart piano concerto). A full orchestra performed the symphonies.
Overall, the Mostly Mozart Festival was a tremendously enjoyable experience. The qualities that
define the works of Mozart are often the same as those that are used to describe those of the classical
period of music, from his smooth melodies and flowing rhythm, to his pleasing use of dynamics to
create an atmosphere of complete satisfaction. One of the most defining principles of the style of
Mozart is the connection to nature and God, and the seeming oneness and harmony that can be
achieved simply by listening while the melodies take you to a higher plane of thought.
The most enjoyable piece from the performance was Allegro, from Mozart s Concerto in Dm. There
are simply not enough words in the English vocabulary to describe how eloquently crafted and
rhythmically shaped this piece is. One of the most outstanding elements of this piece is the harmony
created between the piano and the strings as they accompany each other with seeming flawlessness.
The resulting experience is exhilarating to say the least. Accentuating the piece even more was the
performance by the virtuoso pianist, Stewart Goodyear. Although still in his early twenties, this

There s no reason to avoid wearing sunglasses during the colder seasons. Sunglasses are not just a
brilliant way to accessorise your look with elegance and fun, they are vital in protecting your eyes

year to year, and season to season. If you want to add some stunning shades to your winter wardrobe,

Casual Going back to black
The current casual sunglass style is all about classic black with a grunge design. Your casual

and it ll work well with winter favourites like torn jeans and high boots. If you want to add a bit softer
feel to your sunglasses, pick the shades with a grey lens. This is still a super funky design. Our
favourites include McQ s black matt and shiny matt sunglasses, available at Red Hot Sunglasses, and

Summary Modigliani Miller
L1 Modigliani Miller (1958) The Cost of Capital, Corporation Finance and the Theory of Investment
This article mainly discusses the cost of capital, the required return necessary to make a capital
budgeting project worthwhile. Cost of capital includes the cost of debt and the cost of equity. Theorist
conclude that the cost of capital to the owners of a firm is simply the rate of interest on bonds.
In a world without uncertainty the rational approach would be (1) to maximize profits and (2) to
maximize market value. When uncertainty arises, these statements vanish and change into a utility
maximization. The goal is to get more insight in the effect of financial structure on market valuations.

she did get a good education as many women of her time did not. She had several private tutors
because she was the daughter of a King, she studied many languages. Of the various languages she
learned Spanish and French as well as her native language of English. She also learned many more

in her later years this would become quite evident. During her studies, she also learned theology,

When Kip finds out what it is that he is searching for in his new life, like in all tragedies, it is too late.
Because he is not sure if Julie, the girl, or the parole board is what he wants, he spends too much time
trying to find out and when he knows it is too late. In his search for a new life Kip knows that he is a
free man and wants to show it to the people while he says that he does not want to be viewed
constantly by the public.
Kip is a real go getter person he likes to take action. Because of this he wants to be on the parole board

He wants the judge to believe in him. Kip wants to be on the parole board but is held back by the
judge who believes that Kip is dangerous and should still be in prison let alone on the parole board.
Kip is trying to get the judge to be on his side of the fight to be on the parole board.
As the book continues Kip learns that he actually wants Julie more than to be on the parole board.
This comes to him to late in the novel as in most tragedies. Oh, Kip I I brought you death. See I
wanted to tell you, jerking the words out desperately. You brought me life. (Callaghan 186) Kip, in his
last moments tells Julie that she is what he wants in life, she is not the parole board. She thinks she is
the one who made him die, but she gave him what he wanted in his quest for a new life.
Kip is a free man. He deserves what free men get. Free men get women, so when he gets a lady he
knows he is free, and wants to show it to the judge: She had seemed beyond him; he could have her if
he wanted her. All his hopefulness rose again and with it a surge of power. He wanted to rush out right
then and see Judge Ford. (Callaghan 100) Kip wanted to go see the judge for two reasons, he wants to
show him that he is a free man, and he wanted to use the surge of power to help change the judges
mind about him. Kip is a free man, and has experiences that really show him that he is, and help him

Fibromyalgia Definition
In a literal translation fibromyalgia means muscle fiber pain. It is a chronic pain disorder that causes
pain and tenderness in the muscle to the touch. By affecting the way your brain processes pain signals,
researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies those sensations. Robert Bennett MD, explains that
different parts of the brain are involved in pain reactions. Pain sensation is necessary; it serves as a
reflex to avoid discomfort. This unconscious reflex of avoidance causes the brain to swiftly react,
before the actual awareness of the pain sensation occurs. This chronic disorder causes widespread
body pain, fatigue, tension headache, digestive problems, depression, anxiety and temporomandibular
joint disorder. To have an accurate diagnosis for fibromyalgia health professionals rely on physical
examination, a precise tender point examination, and the patient s history. ... Show more content on

However, there is a specific criterion for identifying fibromyalgia. Sometimes fibromyalgia is
confused with rheumatoid arthritis or lupus and other conditions like hypothyroidism and polymyalgia
rheumatic which mimics fibromyalgia. First, doctors need to base the pain and symptoms by the level
of severity and the total number out of nineteen painful areas of the body. Then if for at least three
months the symptoms remain at a similar level of discomfort and from the results of x rays and blood
test determining no other heath issues. The conclusion could then only be fibromyalgia. Scientist
discovered that women are more than likely to be diagnosis with this disease. They have also
determined that a patient is prone to develop fibromyalgia if the family history has relative conditions,
as well as rheumatic diseases like

Egyptian Afterlife Beliefs
The ancient Egyptian s views were very different than those of the views of the Mesopotamians who
viewed the afterlife as this dark and gloomy place where no matter what your status was on earth
everyone was the same in the afterlife. The Mesopotamian s believed that the afterlife was the total
opposite of life on earth; people would eat clay, drink dirt and wear garments made out of feathers. In
contrast, the Egyptians viewed the afterlife as a mirror image of life on earth. Egyptians were buried
with their most valuable possessions so that they would have these things in the afterlife as well. The
Egyptians praised their pharaohs and believed that the pharaohs served with the gods in the afterlife.

However, this changed shortly after and anyone that could afford it was able to own one. The Book of
the Dead of the Priest of Horus, Imhotep was dated back to ca. 332 200 B.C during the Early
Ptolemaic Period. The origin of this book was Egypt, Meir (the burial of Imhotep). This artifact is
located in gallery 134 and its acquisition number is 35.9.20a w. The book is a massive rectangular
shaped book containing several hundreds of chapters that were written in black and red ink on a
lightly brown paper made from a plant and known as papyrus. The length of this book is about 63 feet.
The book is read from right to left and the words are written in a cursive script known as hieratic. The
red ink was used for titles and rubrics that either explain the text or give specific instructions for the
performance of certain rituals. The book is filled with many illustrations known as vignettes to
demonstrate the key aspects of the process that Imhotep must follow to get through the underworld
and reach the afterlife. The book is divided into 182 columns each containing several spells,
incantations and prayers. The book describes each step that Imhotep must fulfil in order to get into the

Arguments Against Christianity
In this paper, I will argue against Christianity being a rational religion because it holds beliefs which
are irrational and lack sufficient evidence. First, I will state this position on the premise of words from
the Apostles Creed. Second, I will argue that belief in things that humankind does not understand is
not a cause for disbelief, rather belief is required for the things humankind does not understand.
Lastly, I will respond that belief in the things we do not understand is flawed when argued by a
Christian, because the Christian view of humankind s sinful nature does not allow for humankind to
define flawlessly what is rational or irrational to believe. All of this means that Christianity is not itself
a rational religion, although there may still be a rational religion.
The beliefs of Christianity such as the virgin birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ are irrational and
lack sufficient evidence. The Apostles Creed reads, I believe in Jesus Christ... ...born of the Virgin
Mary... ...On the third day he rose again. First off, from science, hard truth, we know that human
beings always have forty six chromosomes (excluding diseases). Each human being received twenty
three chromosomes from their mother and twenty three chromosomes from their father. The virgin
birth requires us to believe that Jesus Christ had no father, yet still had forty six chromosomes. To
believe in the virgin birth is irrational, because a virgin birth is impossible. Second off, the
resurrection of

To me, a leader is somebody who exhibits exceptional devotion to his or her team, and is willing to do whatever it takes to unite the team. A leader injects a feeling of positivity and guides others to achieve predetermined goals. This leadership is the process in which a person influence a group (adherents) to accomplish a shared objective. The objective is achieved by mutual affirmation and a cohesive behavior. As we are introduced to the Great Persian Empire, we find that Amy Chua s thesis talks about how tolerance was critical in allowing the Persians to not only establish and prosper their world dominant empire, but to maintain it for over two centuries. The thesis of the book, Day of Empire by Amy Chua, is about the study of colossal power and the conditions needed to maintain it . Not only this, but it discusses the contest between ethnic purity and ethnic pluralism . Amy Chua argues that The Achaemenid Persian Empire was one of the first hyper powers in world history, governing a territory larger than all the ancient empires, including even Rome s. • 10. The Five Leading Causes Of Effective Communication In The... Every business in the world may have different principles about running their company. However, every business strives for creating effective communication in the workplace. If there is not effective communication in the workplace, then companies will not grow internally and as a result, they lose revenue or go out of business. According to Michael Faraday, he stated, The five essential entrepreneurial skills for success are concentration, discrimination, organization, innovation, and communication. If a company does not have effective communication, they will not reach their full potential or diversify themselves from their competition. Effective communication in the workplace means, communicating with a diverse population, managing conflict in a healthy way, and using two communication process if a disagreement occurred between staff members. According to Tuner and West, (2017), they stated, We live in a society that is more culturally diverse than ever (p. 81). At the workplace, more jobs are starting to become diverse. If a person thinks about diversity in companies it is more common than uncommon. In today s society it is common to see someone from Mexico, India , Saudi Arabia, Africa, or other descents all working at the same establishment. While this creates a variety of diversity, it is one of the leading cause of poor communication in the workplace. Many people from different cultures, majority of the time, do not understand someone from another culture. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blanding s Turtle Populations By comparing the observed heterozygosity of two Blanding s turtle populations, it was determined that Area 1 had significantly greater observed heterozygosity than Area 2. The lower observed heterozygosity found in Area 2 may have been caused by the founder effect, resulting in a loss of genetic variation. The founder effect occurs when a new population is established by a small group of migrants from a larger population. The founder effect involves a random sampling of alleles during the reproduction of consecutive generations; when a small population is isolated, it may amplify the loss of genetic variation as individuals may become increasingly genotypically similar after each subsequent generation. Eventually, the alleles may become fixed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Population bottlenecks occur when a population undergoes a large reduction in size as a result of environmental events or human activities. As a result, genetic variation may decrease as certain alleles may be over presented, under presented, or completely absent. Consequently, the genetic variation may continue to decline throughout subsequent generations as smaller populations, with less genetic diversity, sexually reproduce, passing on a limited amount of genes to future offspring. Furthermore, heterozygosity in these populations may decrease as a result of inbreeding. Inbreeding occurs when two closely related individuals reproduce; inbreeding may cause the accumulation of homozygous recessive genes and a decrease in genetic variation. Additionally, infrequently occurring alleles, rather than common alleles, may face a greater chance of being lost, which may further decrease the level of genetic diversity. As the population continues to decline, the genetic drift may be intensified as a result of increasing genetic limitations. Similarly, Rubin et al. (2001) compared smaller, isolated populations of Blanding s turtles found in the Greater Chicago area to larger populations found in Michigan, Nova Scotia and Wisconsin, and determined, by using amplified polymorphic DNA, that the smaller populations had a loss of genetic variation in comparison to the ... Everyone wishes they could just close their eyes and make all the problems and struggles of life disappear. Some see death as a release from the chains and ropes with which the trials and tribulations of life bind the human race. Death is a powerful theme in literature, symbolized in a plethora of ways. In Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Eve Robert Frost uses subtle imagery, symbolism, rhythm and rhyme to invoke the yearning for death that the weary traveler of life feels. How apt that the speaker is struggling against the lovely, dark and deep woods to remember that he has miles to go before [he] sleep[s]. The easy wind calls to him, and the downy flake beckons him to a comfortable sleep. If the speaker had paused on a bright summer day, the sleep might be just a short rest, but the poem is set on the darkest evening of the year while the woods fill up with snow, and any rest taken in the lovely, dark and deep woods would result in the eternal sleep of death (474). Sleep is another common symbol for death, and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is filled with the essence of sleep. Every element of the poem works together to create a lullaby effect, calling the speaker and reader to a lovely, dark and deep sleep (474). The gentle imagery of the downy soft snow and easy wind, combined with the cadence and meter of the poem creates a lulling, rocking, soothing effect. The AABB rhyme scheme and the iambic quatrameter create a lullaby feeling, easing the reader in to a comfortable sleep. The last two lines act as a slap in the face. He published many works that expressed his views of how to strengthen government in America and put power in the hands of the citizens (Wagoner, 2004, pg.19). Throughout my learning experience, Jefferson has been one of the three presidents, besides Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln, who I have gained an interest in because of what he accomplished during his presidency and his advocacy for a better system of government in the premature years of the United States. Jefferson is important to American history because he immediately made a huge impact on American society by envisioning the way he wanted to see America operate and what he envisioned is reflected through the lives of many Americans today including myself. He was one of the greatest ancient Greek historians and author of the History of the Peloponnesian War, in which he describes the struggle between Athens and Sparta. Thucydides was also interested in the technical part of the war. He focused on the difficulties and possibilities in a war between the powerful land force of Sparta along its allies and the powerful naval force of Athens. He observed that the strategic interaction of states followed a visible and repeated pattern. According to him the relationship of states in a system is dependent on the hierarchal system they have. Therefore he concluded that any alteration in the hierarchy of the powerful states would extremely shake the structure of their system while any alteration in the status of the weak states would make no difference to the system. Thucydides relates this conclusion to the Peloponnesian War because he believed that the outbreak of war was a result of the change in their system as the power of the Athenian state was growing and attempting to ... I felt it necessary to point out how strong and brave she was to call out practices in a public format that many may not agree with. When asked why she did not put her name on her editorial pieces, Evelyn disclosed that she was afraid of what others would think of her writing about controversial topics. This brought us into some gender role analysis. She mentioned that the boys were the members of the paper that got the interesting and controversial stories, while the female journalists received assignments for more fluff pieces, so she was uncomfortable writing something against the norm with her name attached. I mentioned to Evelyn how great it was that she was able to pull herself away from the standard female fluff pieces and really write thought provoking articles, even if that was not what was expected of her. As Evelyn continued to explain more about her time writing, she mentioned that she became more willing to attach her name to many of her articles after becoming a follower of St. Thomas Aquinas, who encourages owning up to and taking responsibility for one s own personal views. She said that through those readings, she became more confident, adding her name to controversial pieces, however it led to severe anxiety whenever she needed to present ... I was sobbing, like a child, the night before my childhood best friend, Myka, leaves for college in the Philippines. She will not be coming back after she finishes college and so, family and friends gathered at the airport to say all our goodbyes. My friends and I gave her a book containing all the memories we ve experienced together since we were children. We were drowning in tears because we were all going our separate ways. I tried to make people stop crying by being positive and cracking up jokes, yet I was the one bawling harder than anyone. My crying face is the most hideous, monstrous feature that I m proud of because it made people s stomach hurt from all the laughing. An hour before Myka departs, I received a call from my other friend, Angelica, who was leaving at the same time as Myka, but at different airlines. I m leaving today and can you please see me before I fly off? Angelica begged. We had a close relationship since intermediate school. Angelica was going to American Airlines while Myka was going to Philippine Airlines. Myka wanted everyone to see her fly off, however, because Angelica wanted me to see her, as well, I asked Myka if I could go and see her for a while. She hesitated, then replied Be here by 10:10 a.m. I m leaving at 10:30 . By the time I left, it was 9:45 a.m. I ran, like the speed of lightning, to find Angelica. • 31. The Soviet Leader Vladimir Lenin And The New Millennium Essay Introduction: One step forwards, two steps back. This was the mantra of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin as he consolidated power during the 2nd Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in 1903 (Lenin 1941). In the statement, Lenin illustrates the idea that every attempt or step towards progress only succeeded in creating new challenges, new problems, out from the woodworks. Sixteen years into the 21st Century, this catchphrase seems to be the running theme, or perhaps joke, of the new millennium. The internet has connected all of humanity in ways that have never before been seen throughout the history of mankind, yet it also opened the door for cyber terrorism, illegal surveillance, and the efficient propagation of dangerous hateful ideologies. Progress in the field of medicine races forwards at the speed of light, but pharmaceutical companies are greedy. They hold onto their patents with vice grips and raise prices of essential medications while they cost only pennies to produce. Progress is like Pandora s box in that it proliferates the spread of evil, greed, and corruption, while the fragile hope that remains in the jar continues the human race in its attempts to move forward. I choose to do the U.S because I thought I was an interesting task to think about what it would take to make a sustainable society out of our own country. The U.S is the second top producer of CO2 emissions in the world and it directly correlates without dependency on fossil fuels for producing energy. (EPA, 2008). This is why my first thought about creating a sustainable society out of the U.S then we would have to greatly reduce, and if not that, totally abolish natural gas production in the U.S. Obviously in a real life setting this would seem that it would tear the country apart however I think the solution would be to start encouraging and rewarding those individuals and organizations that a using renewable energy and give them things such as take breaks and government funding. At the same time we would need to stop subsidizing gas slowly over time in order to make it more appealing to the average American to switch from natural gas. Renewable energy companies would be able to create enough jobs to replace those in the natural gas industry. According to the International Renewable Energy Association renewable energy has already created over 7.7 million jobs worldwide (IRENA, 2016). The U.S gas and oil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Such disorders are medically and anthropologically known as culture bound or culture specific syndromes. There are a number of fascinating culture bound syndromes found around the world, and one such disorder is the Wendigo Psychosis. This mental condition is linked to Native American culture, specifically to certain northern tribes such as; Chippewa, Ojibwa, Cree, and Inuit. The Psychosis was most popular in the 19th century, and was usually found to have developed during winter months when families were isolated due to heavy snowfall, and there was not enough food supplies to get them through the tough months. Symptoms The signs that point to the disorder were thought to be psychosomatic. A full orchestra performed the symphonies. Overall, the Mostly Mozart Festival was a tremendously enjoyable experience. The qualities that define the works of Mozart are often the same as those that are used to describe those of the classical period of music, from his smooth melodies and flowing rhythm, to his pleasing use of dynamics to create an atmosphere of complete satisfaction. One of the most defining principles of the style of Mozart is the connection to nature and God, and the seeming oneness and harmony that can be achieved simply by listening while the melodies take you to a higher plane of thought. The most enjoyable piece from the performance was Allegro, from Mozart s Concerto in Dm. There are simply not enough words in the English vocabulary to describe how eloquently crafted and rhythmically shaped this piece is. One of the most outstanding elements of this piece is the harmony created between the piano and the strings as they accompany each other with seeming flawlessness. The resulting experience is exhilarating to say the least. Accentuating the piece even more was the performance by the virtuoso pianist, Stewart Goodyear. First, I will state this position on the premise of words from the Apostles Creed. Second, I will argue that belief in things that humankind does not understand is not a cause for disbelief, rather belief is required for the things humankind does not understand. Lastly, I will respond that belief in the things we do not understand is flawed when argued by a Christian, because the Christian view of humankind s sinful nature does not allow for humankind to define flawlessly what is rational or irrational to believe. All of this means that Christianity is not itself a rational religion, although there may still be a rational religion.
