Georgia learned several new technologies through making her film project. She learned how to edit film by changing colors, dissolving shots, and arranging shots. She gained experience shooting with techniques like long shots and close-ups. She used a digital camera and tripod to film shots and learned how to upload videos to computers. She also learned to use Mac programs like Final Cut Express and GarageBand to add sound effects, music, and finish the film. Overall, she improved her skills with technologies like cameras, computers, and editing software through completing this project.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product?
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process
of constructing the product?

2. • I feel that I have learnt about new technologies whilst making
my film, best of friends that link to my thriller. I have learnt
how to edit a film in detail by changing the colours to set the
different moods and dissolving the shots and putting them
together. Also the different ways in which you can shot for
example long shots and close up mid shot. Without the new
experience and knowledge of thriller films, we would not have
been able to efficiently create this effect.
3. • I used the camera to do all of our filming over the coursework,
including I preliminary task. I have over time developed my filming
quality, and have learned how to upload my videos and filming onto
the computers. I used a digital still camera in order to take picture
of the couple in the frame. I was taught in lesson how to use a
tripod, to improve the quality of my filming. It meant that I was able
to film panning shots. I was then able to develop our ability of using
the tripod to get more original and interesting shots as time went
on. Also using the layout of the Mac was one thing on top of
everything else that I had to learn about how to open up the
different files and folders and programs. It isn't too dissimilar from a
normal computer; the worst thing was the mouse! But like
everything else, over time, our skills developed and it became
easier.
4. • Using the blogging site, Blogger is the site on which each
member of our group made our online blog to demonstrate
our understanding of film language, specifically in reference
to thrillers, and to keep a constant 'online diary' about the
creation of our thriller opening. Meaning that if anyone
missed anything they would always be updated by the blog.
• YouTube uploading all members of my group have used
YouTube before on a number of occasions, so using it was
no problem. We used it to find demonstrations of topics we
were discussing on our blog, as well as to gain inspiration.
We also uploaded our own videos on to our own channel,
such as the preliminary task and bloopers onto YouTube for
other people to watch.
5. • Finally, Final Cut Express and Garageband I used this to put our final
film together, including sound effects and music. It was quite easy to
use, however we were always finding more and more tools to improve
our film, and the teachers constantly advised us on how to use the
program to the best of my ability.
• In my opinion, I have gained a number of skills through the creation of
my coursework. This includes the use of Apple Mac Computers and
programs such as final cut express and Garageband. I have also
discovered several alternative ways of displaying information such as
slideshows and mind maps pictures story boards. I have developed my
teamwork and communication skills through the project, and have learnt
how ideas cooperate with other people to make a better product.
