1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
By Jack Jones
2. Blogger
• Blogger is the internet programme that I used
to submit the journey of my work throughout
this course. It was launched in 1999 by pyra
labs and was then bought out by the huge
company (Google) in 2002. Using this
programme has allowed me to gain
knowledge on documenting information
digitally on the internet, in many ways I hadn't
known exited before, like prezi and slider
share which I will talk about later on.
3. YouTube
• YouTube is the programme we used to upload
various clips of test footage, drafts, camera types and
the final product itself. Using YouTube allowed us to
show our film to potentially a global audience at no
cost, making it extremely effective as independent
film makers. It also allowed me to adapt the skills I
had learnt on blogger by embedding the footage into
the blog to show off our final product. I also used
YouTube as part of my research to find out how to do
various effects on after effects cs6 with the add-ons
solar flares and trap codes particular. YouTube was
Founded in 2005 this company was also bought out
by Google in 2005.
4. Final cut
• Final cut pro/express is the software I used to edit
the footage to produce the final opening scene, I
learnt different techniques such as importing and
exporting into and out of various different
formats like QuickTime, flv, mp4 and H.264. I had
also picked up many techniques in editing; Using
various transitions like cross
dissolves, fades, actions zooms and of course
cuts. As well as applying tints to the project and
colour correction to the project and the titles
over the footage itself. This software is extremely
high quality and useful and has taught me a lot of
editing features.
5. Camera & Tripod
• To film our footage we used one of the school
cameras a (Panasonic) with a flip side screen
allowing you to see what you was filming and
also we used my phone the Motorola razr I
which had a flash light on allowing us to film first
person view in the pitch black. Also to mount the
camera on we used a high quality tripod which
gave us some steady shots and pans. Overall
these different piece of equipment gave me
knowledge on camera techniques within the film
industry.
6. After Effects CS6
• This is the software I used to create the title/ident for the film with
the plug-ins trap code particular and solar flares. After
independently researching on how to work this programme and
the plug-ins I finally finished the title/ident. I learnt a lot of things
firstly how to create the text and learnt how to do different key
frames to make different sections of the text appear at different
times, to make it show as if it came from no where. Also I learnt
how to set an emitter guide for the particular route and learnt the
different velocity speeds needed to change the rotational direction
and the different settings to change the appearance of the
particles. As well as this I also learnt how to track the particulars
path and apply an edited solar flare in the front of the particles to
make it appear as if the particles were trailing the orb. I then
managed to duplicate the project so I had to flares with particles to
create the final ident.
7. Soundtrack pro
• This is the programme used to create the
soundtrack for our product we used various
different beats and pre-sets to help achieve
our final sound, we then imported the film
into the programme to allow final tweaks with
the sound to get the timings right and then
added a scream effect towards the end of the
film.
8. Prezi & slide share
• These two programmes allowed me to import
various presentations related to the media
course I had made and place them onto my
blog, and prezi also allowed a more interactive
way of presenting work onto our blog using its
various backgrounds and different style of
boxes and movements to achieve a less dull
approach to presenting my work.
