1. Question 4- How did you use new
media technologies in the
construction and research, planning
and evaluation stages?

2. Different Technology We Used
Throughout
• Throughout the task I have learnt how to use a variety of
different devices and websites; this has been done through
practise and tutorial videos if I was struggling with anything.
• iMac- We used the iMacs to do all of our editing on all three of our media
products. They where the main piece of equipment we used, we done all
our research through them as well, from spending a lot of time on them, i
learned how to use them in the most efficient and effective way (through
different shortcuts).
• iPhone- we used our phones to take photos for our journal, on how we are
getting on, during our filming day. We also took pictures for a location
recce, as well as using our phones to record a voiceover for the trailer, we
sent these files to our college emails and uploaded them to our journals
and trailer from there.

3. Websites and software used:
• Youtube- youtube was used to look at a variety of different teaser
trailer during the research element of the task, youtube was also
used for tutorial videos on different equipment and software such
as ‘Photoshop’, where our skills where limited.
• SlideShare- this was used to upload power point files onto our
journal in mahara.
• Mahara- used to update my progress on research. Was where all
updates on work was stored, within my journal.
• OneDrive- used when working on a project or task as a group, it
allows all members on the document to contribute at the same
time.
• Freesound- we took samples from this website when working on
the sound element of our teaser trailer.
• Pearl&Dean- this was used to research our target audience

4. Websites and software used:
• PhotoShop- when working with Photoshop, specifically with regards to the
magazine, none of us where very competent with the software so we had to
use tutorial videos to further our knowledge. Annabelle was the main member
of the group who dealt with Photoshop, as she was the one working on the
magazine, she fed back to us saying how rewarding it is when zooming into
specific details and altering it, to improve it for the better.
• Illustrator- when editing the poster, i used the software ‘Illustrator. This was
the first time using this software so my knowledge was limited; however with
the help of tutorial videos, I learnt how to edit the contrast brightness and
texture of an image, whilst adding layers in also. This helped massively and
was very rewarding as it helped me complete our final poster to a very good
standard.
• GarageBand- Luke had some experience with Garageband, so he took the
responsibility of the music side to it. We wanted intense and music which will
build the tension up to suit the mood of the trailer and convention of a thriller.

5. Websites and software used:
• Final Cut Pro: We used final cut in the editing of our teaser,
and our animatic. We had some experience in using the
software, with using it last year in various different tasks. This
year however was more complex, learning how to cut a scene
to the a perfect point, and not slacking on this. We learnt to
rearrange clips on the timeline and how to properly use SFX.

6. Digital Equipment Used
• Cannon 80D- this camera, which is top of the range quality, was used
during our filming day and for taking photos for our magazine shots. No
one within the group had ever used this camera, so to get a better
understanding of it we had Liz take us through a demo of the camera, as
well as watching some tutorial videos to get the best out of it. We learnt
how to take manual and automatic shots, learning how to use both was
useful as we used both in filming for our trailer.
