From producing a film opening, the student has learned about various technologies. The student was introduced to blogger and learned how to construct and organize a blog to plan filming and keep track of research and ideas. YouTube provided research by analyzing other openings and tutorials to improve skills. Creating a storyboard and animatic helped visualize shots and plan filming. Using a camera and voice recorder provided experience filming and recording high quality footage and sound. Adobe Premiere and Photoshop were used to edit, add titles and effects to produce the final opening. Websites provided non-copyrighted music and sounds to enhance the opening. Overall, the student gained substantial knowledge and experience using new technologies from constructing the media product.

technologies from the process of
constructing this product?

2. Pre Production refers to the task that we had
to complete before filming begins, this
includes tasks such as
scheduling, planning, hiring
equipment, getting costumes etc.. All these
task have to be done before you can start
filming.

3. • From producing my film opening I have learnt loads of new things
about different technology's. Creating my film opening has been
very challenging as I had never used any of the technologies to
construct the film. Firstly I have been introduced to Blogger. I didn’t
really know what a blog was, or what to do until I started this
course. Using blogger has been the key to making my film opening
the best it can be. I used Blogger to do extensive research on my
genre and organise the creation of my film opening. Blogger
helped me plan all of my filming, gather research, and keep track of
my progress. I used blogger to note down ideas on my blog and
keep organised my scheduling filming etc.. From blogging I have
learnt how to construct a blog, keep it organised and how to embed
different forms of media. I kept my blog organised by labelling all of
my blog posts, for example planning, research etc.. This means I
could look back and get ideas from my research which really helped
me with lots of aspects such as constructing my storyboard.

4. YouTube.
• You Tube was a massive help to me in creating my film opening.
YouTube where I mostly gathered all of my research by looking up
other film openings in my genre. I also helped YouTube to help
guide me throughout the process. With YouTube I looked up
tutorials on ways to improve my film opening on abode premiere
pro CS6. I could also closely examine other films and use some of
the features in different films. I was also able to use clips from
YouTube as evidence on my blog. Blogger and YouTube worked well
together as I embedded clips from YouTube onto my blog to keep
clips together and store ideas. The power of YouTube was great as it
made a massive contribution to my film opening. YouTube was a
great technology for me as it gave me the power to analyse
different opening in my genre and gain ideas from them.

Storyboard/Animatic
Creating storyboards and an Animatic for my film helped me a
lot. We created our initial draft storyboard to see how long we
think our opening would be and to help us visualise what it
would look like and plan out how many seconds we want each
shot to be on screen and which angles and movement we
wanted from the camera. Not only this but it gave us a chance to
start drawing up our production company and titles etc... We
created a draft story board and went out to film that. This
helped us as we soon realised the storyboard needed adapting
and changing so we then created our final storyboard and then
went back out to finalise our filming process. The storyboard
helped us a lot as it gave us every shot we needed to take so as
we went out to film we knew exactly what to shoot in what
order. This ultimately made filming a lot more efficient and
easier to complete as we knew what we where doing when
filming. An Animatic made it even better as it brought out
storyboard to life. I didn’t have a clue what a animatic was or
how to create one. We created our animatic on adobe premiere
pro CS6, this was the second time I was introduced to the
software after my preliminary. Doing the animatic benefited us
as you get a feel of what it may look like and an idea of how long
each shot should be on screen. By creating the animatic we
could make the story board as accurate as possible.

6. Production.
• Production is constructing and creating our final
media product. Production includes filming your
opening and recording the sound for your
opening.

7. Sony HD Handy-Cam
• Before starting media studies I had never used a camera like
this before so it was all knew to me. After using the camera
from my preliminary up to my final product I gained a wealth
of knowledge and experienced in using a camera. I learnt how
to set up to camera, and use it features to create a
professional film opening. This technology allowed me to film
HD quality footage and create a good looking film opening.

8. Voice Recorder.
• To add sound to our media product we had to record it separately on a
Zoom Voice recorded. This was a very good piece of technology to use for
our film opening as it could record sound in very high quality and in very
good detail. The sound was great and we used it to record everything
while filming as good sound makes a good film. I had no experience in
using this piece of technology but it was really simple to use and was a
crucial piece of technology for our opening. We also used it to record the
news broadcast in our film opening. I have learnt how to use this piece of
equipment and it helped us get good quality sound for our opening.

9. Post Production.
• Is all the stages of production occurring after
the actual end of shooting and recording the
completed work. This includes
editing, clipping things together, adding music
and special effects. There are many stages in
Post Production to make sure your film looks
the best it can be.

10. Adobe Premiere CS6.
•
Adobe Premiere CS6 was all new to me when I started the course. I didn’t have a
clue what it was, or where to start. Using Adobe was challenging and sometimes
frustrating as it crashed sometimes and at times I didn’t have a clue what I was
doing. However as I got used to the software and the technology it helped us
create a great film opening. I have learnt all sorts of new skills from Adobe
Premiere Pro CS6 such as colour grading, adding titles, creating animatic, fading
shots, and cutting and editing clips to make my film look superb even used Adobe
Premiere for my first question and to this day there are still many things I'm not
sure on and that I could learn, however I bet there are more that I have learnt.
Throughout using the software I looked up video tutorials on YouTube in my own
time as well as getting advice and help from my teacher. I experimented a lot with
the software and have gained loads of new skills. We used the software to edit our
preliminary, animatic and final film opening. I have really enjoyed using the
software and playing about with the tools it has to offer.

11. Photoshop.
• Photoshop was another programme used to help us make a
good opening. We used Photoshop to make the titles and
our production company. Before this course I never used
Photoshop that often however I had seen it being used
before to make titles. At first it was a daunting task to think
we where going to make the titles and production company
ourselves, however after our teacher showing us the basics
I soon picked it up quickly. Making the production company
was challenging and we used a variety of tools on the
programme. The titles where fairly easy to construct and
add to adobe premiere pro CS6. I have learnt how to use
this technology and by doing so we created an awesome
production company and some great titles for our opening.

12. Websites.
• To gather non-diegetic sounds we used noncopyrighted music from websites like Jamendo
and YouTube as well to add sounds such as a
gin shots and birds to make our opening
sound realistic and authentic.

13. Overall
• I have learnt dramatic amounts about
technologies from constructing my media
product. I have gained a wealth of knowledge
and experience from different and new
technologies to construct my product.
