2. Cameras
The first thing in media that you have to learn
how to use is the cameras that we use for filming.
I was initially sceptical and slightly pessimistic
about this, as I had never used or even held a
video camera before, however Matt and Ellis
were key to me learning the basics.
With their previous experience in media, Matt and
Ellis were able to teach me how to use the
camera in its most basic terms, such as turning it
on, switching to record, zooming in and out and
framing.
I now feel comfortable enough from my own
experience to film short segments by myself or at
least under supervision from somebody else.
3. Editing Software
The next thing that I had to learn to use was the
editing software, Correl, which is what our group
used to edit and render our film.
Again, I was unsure on my ability to learn how to
use the program as I had no prior experience,
however I found it quite easy to learn after a few
attempts. I first learnt how to import the clips we
had recorded and then how to separate them.
Then, I managed to work out, after searching for
a while, how to add in various effects such as
sound and music as well as filters and other
visuals.
4. Blogging
During this entire process our group have
consistently posted to our blog in order to
document our experience working as a team to
create a film.
Obviously I had to learn how to post to this blog in
order to contribute to the group and this was the
stage I found easiest to pick up. I had to be
shown by my colleagues how to publish articles
correctly and format them in such a way that they
were presentable.
