The document discusses the technologies used to create a media product. It describes learning advanced editing techniques like overlays on Final Cut Express to create dream-like sequences and syncing effects and music. It also discusses using a camera and tripod, learning basic camera operation skills. WordPress was used for research and evaluations, Internet Explorer for online research, and YouTube to upload and share the preliminary and final projects.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the
process of constructing this
product?
2. • One of the main technologies I have
used, whilst making my final media
product, is Final Cut Express. I used it
to edit our final film.
• As I had used Final Cut Express during
my GCSE media years, I understood
the basics of the programme and was
fairly easy to remember how to
basically edit things.
• However, now being in sixth form, I
had to learn a lot more elements on
it, in order for our film to have the full
effects of a thriller film.
3. WHAT HAVE I LEARNT ON FINAL CUT
EXPRESS?
• One of the main features I learnt how to use on
final cut express was how to lay two pictures on
top of each, to cause a ‘dreamy’, flickering effect.
This was made to look like the little girl, who was
kidnapped, is still in the memory of the main
protagonist. The overlay of the pictures, make
our film more like a thriller genre.
• I also re learnt how to put effects onto our
film, to create the flashback and also fitting the
music with specific times in our film.
4. • The camera was the main
technology we used, and also the
tripod. It was essential to our film.
• However, although I was not the
‘cameraman’ for our media
product, I occasionally took over
this role, so learnt the basics of
how to work the camera.
• This included learning how to
balance the camera, on the
tripod, to make sure it was at the
right level when on uneasy
grounds, like the park we filmed in.
5. • WordPress is another main technology we
have had to use in this project. It is the
blog site where all our evaluations and
research has gone. I have used WordPress
before, so found it fairly simple to upload
pictures, videos and more.
• Internet explorer is the main web browser
we used when doing all our research. I
used it to research thriller film codes and
conventions, and also all of the research
for media institutions and who produced
what films.
• YouTube was the final technology we used as it was
where we uploaded our prelim and our final media
product, Captured. It is one of the most well-known
sites where people upload videos every second to it.
It was a very useful technology, as it allowed us to
broadcast our video to people for free.
