Interrelationship of Self and Community as
mutually symbiotic from each other, for one

Community Action
- refers to the collective efforts
of people directed toward
addressing social problems,(e.g.,
social inequalites, environmental
degradation, and poverty) in
order to achieve social well-
being.

Engagement
- Denotes interaction, sharing and
relationships at different level. It
can be defined as the partnership
between two pares such as
academic institutions and local
communities for mutual benefits
and is characterized by reciprocal

Community engagement has four-part
definition:
Active collaboration
Builds on the resources, skills, and
expertise and knowledge of campus
and community
Improves the quality of life in the
communities
