Injection of the wind power into an electric grid affects the power quality. The performance of the wind turbine and thereby power quality are determined on the basis of measurements and the norms followed according to the guideline specified in International Electro-technical Commission standard, IEC-61400. The influence of the wind turbine in the grid system concerning the power quality measurements are-the active power, reactive power, variation of voltage, flicker, harmonics, and electrical behavior of switching operation and these are measured according to national/international guidelines. The paper study demonstrates the power quality problem due to installation of wind turbine with the grid. In this proposed scheme STATic COMpensator (STATCOM) is connected at a point of common coupling with a battery energy storage system (BESS) to mitigate the power quality issues. The battery energy storage is integrated to sustain the real power source under fluctuating wind power. The STATCOM control scheme for the grid connected wind energy generation system for power quality improvement is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK in power system block set. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme relives the main supply source from the reactive power demand of the load and the induction generator. The development of the grid co-ordination rule and the scheme for improvement in power quality norms as per IEC-standard on the grid has been presented.

FUZZY LOGIC APPROACH FOR FAULT DIAGNOSIS OF THREE PHASE TRANSMISSION LINEJournal For Research
Transmission line among the other electrical power system component suffers from unexpected failure due to various random causes. Because transmission line is quite large as it is open in environment. A fault occurs on transmission line when two or more conductors come in contact with each other or ground. This paper presents a proposed model based on MATLAB software to detect the fault on transmission line. Fault detection has been achieved by using Fuzzy Logic based intelligent control technique. The proposed method aims in presenting a fast and accurate fault diagnosis method to classify and identify the type of fault which occurs on a power transmission system. In this paper, some of the unconventional approaches for condition monitoring of power systems comprising of relay Breaker, along with the application of soft computing technique like fuzzy logic. Results show that the proposed methodology is efficient in identifying fault in transmission system.

AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE CONTROL OF TRANSFORMER USING MICROCONTROLLER AND SCADA
LABVIEW PROJECT FINAL YEAR EEE
ABSTRACT: A tap changer control operates to connect appropriate tap position of winding in power transformers to maintain correct voltage level in the power transmission and distribution system. Automatic tap changing can be implemented by using µC. This improved tap-changing decision and operational flexibility of this new technique make it attractive for deployment in practical power system network. This paper deals with the implementation of µC based tap changer control practically, using special purpose digital hardware as a built-in semiconductor chip or software simulation in conventional computers. Two strategies are suggested for its implementation as a software module in the paper. One is to integrate it with the supervisory system in a substation control room operating in a LAN environment. In this configuration, the parallel transformers can be controlled locally. The other is to integrate it into the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, which allows the transformers to be monitored and controlled remotely over a wide area of power-network. The implementation of µC based tap changer control needs interfacing between the power system and the control circuitry. µC s may need to interact with people for the purpose of configuration, alarm reporting or everyday control.
A human-machine interface (HMI) is employed for this purpose. An HMI is usually linked to the SCADA system’s databases and software programs, to provide trending, diagnostic data, and management information such as scheduled maintenance procedures, logistic information, detailed schematics for a particular sensor or machine, and expert-system troubleshooting guides.
OBJECTIVES: The original system can afford the following features:
- Complete information about the plant (circuit breakers status, source of feeding, and level of the consumed power).
- Information about the operating values of the voltage, operating values of the transformers, operating values of the medium voltage, load feeders, operating values of the generators. These values will assist in getting any action to return the plant to its normal operation by minimum costs.
- Information about the quality of the system (harmonics, current, voltages, power factors, flickers, etc.). These values will be very essential in case of future correction.
- Recorded information such case voltage spikes, reducing the voltage on the medium or current interruption.
- implementation of µC based tap changer control practically, using special purpose digital hardware as a built-in semiconductor chip or software simulation in conventional computers.
FAULT DETECTION AND DIAGNOSIS OF INDUCTION MACHINE WITH ON-LINE PARAMETER PR...Sheikh R Manihar Ahmed
Today all instrumentation system pertaining to industrial process controls as well as domestic application involve automatic fault finding facility. This facility detects the faulty condition of the system and draws operator’s attention towards it enabling him to take suitable remedial action to ensure proper operation of the system. The main purpose of all FDI method is to monitor the system operations and in case of faults accommodate the source of faults so that timely corrective actions are taken. Fault detection simply involves a decision based on the monitored data as to whether there is a fault or the system is running normally. Fault isolation is then executed to identify the type and location of a fault after the fault detection has triggered an alarm so that corrective actions can be made. These two steps are known as Fault Detection and Isolation. Fault diagnosis is referred to as the combination of fault detection, identification and isolation. One such method of annunciation in which activation of visual or mechanical variable takes place when a removed switch or device has been activated as a result of fault in certain system, an audio alarm may also be associated with annunciations. This FDI system is defined and the existing technique to detect & isolate the fault with on-line parameter programming facility. The main advantage of the proposed approach of Control System based fault detection and isolation is its low cost. Low cost in terms of components used makes affordable in terms of easy handling and maintenance and various sensors can be used to give different types of input signals to circuit. An additional advantage is that the real time system still works when the host crashes, the matter that increases the reliability of the system & Data-logging facility can also be provided. A data-logger captures any measurement values which can be represented by a voltage. Nowadays, sensors and transducers are available for, practically, any physical quantity. The function of data-logger is to capture and store a specified number of specified number of sensor measurement values at predefined intervals and transfer the data including date and time to a PC in the form of file.

Application of artificial intelligence in early fault detection of transmiss...IJECEIAES
Reliable energy is ensured by the power quality, safety and security. For reliability and economic growth of transmission utilities, it is necessary to maintain continuity of supply, which is challenging under deregulated system. It is essential for utilities to conduct regular maintenance of transmission lines before supply interrupts. To protect line from fault, it is necessary to detect fault on line, its classification and location at the earliest. Various smart techniques along with application of artificial intelligence (AI) in power system are under investigation. This paper tries to find solution by identifying practical common faults occurred on transmission lines, and also suggests the suitable maintenance methodology. It uses the artificial neural network (ANN) method and live line maintenance technique (LLMT) for pre identification of a fault and subsequent predictive maintenance. Paper compares results of combination of ANN with LLMT and cold line maintenance technique (CLMT). Comparison of statistical analysis shows combine model of ANN and LLMT results in minimize outage time, failure rate which can improve system availability and increases revenue.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

3. POWER QUALITY MONITORING
It is a multi-pronged approach to identifying, analyzing and correcting
power quality problems.
Helps to identify the cause of power system disturbances.
Helps to identify problem conditions before they cause interruptions
or disturbances,in some cases.
Objectives for power quality monitoring are generally classified into:
Proactive approach
Intended to characterise the system performance.
Helps to understand and thus match the system performance
with customer neeeds.
Reactive approach
Intended to characterise a specific problem.
Performs short term monitoring at specific customers or at
different loads.

This permanent monitoring system has the following
components :
1) Measurement instruments
Involves both the voltage recorder and disturbance analyser.
Has a trigger circuit to detect events.
Includes a data acquisition board to acquire all the triggered and
sampled data.
2) Monitoring workstation
Used to gather all information from the measuring instruments.
Periodically send information to a control workstation.

4) Control software
This software drives the control workstation.
Does the analysis and processing of data.
Algorithms used for processing varies according to the system
used.
Algorithms used may be based on wavelet transforms or
expert systems or some other advanced technique. 6
7. .
5) Database server
Database management system should provide fast and
concurrent access to many users without critical performance
degradation.
Also,it should avoid any form of unauthorized access.
6) Communication channels
Selection of communication channel strongly depends on
monitoring instruments, connectivity functions and on their
physical locations.
Some of the possible channels are fixed telephone channels by
using a modem and mobile communication system by using a
GSM modem.
7
9. DATA ANALYSIS OF POWER
QUALITY MEASUREMENTS
Analysis is done by the control software and the method of analysis
depends on the type of disturbance.
Main objective of an analyser is to identify the type of event.
Analyser looks for parameters in the measured data to characterise
the waveform.
Since individual inspection of all wave shapes is not easy due to the
large size of database, a few characteristics are extracted from the
measured data, mainly magnitude and duration.
Since database has a lot of information and recorded data, analyser
extracts only the relevant disturbances.
9
10. Contd..
Analyser groups the captured events in a number of classes.
These classes are made by comparing the captured
waveforms with the ideal waveforms.
This classification is called disturbance classification.
By comparing the captured events with libraries of power
quality variation characteristics and correlating with system
events, causes of variations can be determined.
Every electrical disturbance has an associated waveform
which describes its characteristics, which provides important
clues to locate the source of electrical problem.
10
12. BENEFITS OF POWER QUALITY
MONITORING
Ensures power system reliability.
Identify the source and frequency of events.
Helps in the preventive and predictive maintenance.
Evaluation of incoming electrical supply and distribution to determine
if power quality disturbances are impacting.
Determine the need for mitigation equipments.
Reduction of energy expenses and risk avoidances.
Process improvements-monitoring systems allows to identify the most
sensitive equipments and install power conditioning systems wherever
necessary.
12
13. CONCLUSION
Electric power quality, which is a current interest to several
power utilities all over the world,is often severely affected by
various power quality disturbances like harmonics and
transient disturbances.Deterioration of power quality has
always been a leading cause of economic losses and damage
of sensitive equipments.
Various types of power quality disturbances are
analysed.Automatic Power Quality Disturbance Classifiers
are discussed in detail, along with different classification
approaches, with a case study. Power Quality Monitoring
